Weer zo’n bericht waarvan je haar rechtop gaat staan: Glasgow herhuisvest vluchtelingen in hostels waar COVID-19 welig tiert….. Voor ze geherhuisvest worden krijgen deze vluchtelingen 20 minuten de tijd om hun spullen bij elkaar te pakken…….
Het eten in die hostels is niet te vr//// uh eten en het is al duidelijk dat een aantal mensen ondervoed is……
Eenmaal in die hostels mogen de vluchtelingen niet naar buiten en ook de pers krijgt geen toegang om te kunnen spreken met deze mensen…… De vluchtelingen zijn bang om hun grieven naar buiten te brengen, bang om teruggestuurd te worden naar een zekere dood…….
Lees en teken de petitie ajb, hoe is het mogelijk dat men juist in deze tijd zo met mensen om durft te gaan, alsof we in de 19de i.p.v. de 21ste eeuw leven…… (en geeft het door mensen!):

This city is packing refugees into COVID-infested hostels and feeding them inedible food, just so corporations can rake in the profits
Twenty minutes. That’s how much time they’re given to fling belongings into bags before they’re evicted, shoved into other dilapidated buildings with new roommates, in the middle of a pandemic. Their food is so inedible that now, they’re suffering from malnutrition. Their shared housing is so cramped and dirty that COVID-19 is running rampant, spreading from person to person without mercy. If they try to go outside to talk to a reporter, they are blocked — locked inside and kept away from the press. This is how asylum seekers are being treated in the seemingly idyllic city of Glasgow, Scotland.
How did things get so bad? In an effort to shirk its humanitarian duties, the local government decided to farm out refugee services, handing it off to a for-profit corporation called the Mears Group. Caring only about its bottom line, Mears did what a heartless corporation does: turn human bodies into an opportunity to make a profit. But even though conditions have deterioriated precipitously, the refugees are scared to speak out — if they’re caught telling the outside world how they’re treated, they’re worried the government could retaliate and even deport them back to countries where they face death. Help us remind local leaders of their responsibility to provide true humanitarian sanctuary to asylum seekers. Sign the petition to demand that Glasgow end its policy of for-profit refugee services!

P.S. After everything else that refugees have survived, they shouldn’t also be subjected to this mistreatment once they finally reach a “safe” new home. Demand that the city of Glasgow provide true humanitarian relief for asylum seekers!
