Israëlische kolonisten verantwoordelijk voor branden op de West Bank

Een woordvoerder van het Israëlische leger heeft moeten toegeven dat niet Palestijnen, maar illegale Israëlische kolonisten (kwaadaardige zionisten) branden op de West Bank hebben aangestoken….. Branden die overigens veel vaker voorkomen op de West Bank, waar Palestijnen of niet bij hun grond kunnen komen, dan wel ligt hun grond te ver van het huis (soms kilometers omrijden, waar ze bij elke wegblokkade worden aangehouden en getreiterd, terwijl de boeren de grond meestal vanuit hun huis kunnen zien…)…

Bij die branden worden soms hele olijfboomgaarden in de as gelegd en is de rest van wat er verbouwd wordt niet meer te gebruiken en dus niet te verkopen……..

Bij de branden in de buurt van Nablus moest het Israëlische leger toegeven dat niet de Palestijnen, zoals militairen beweerden, maar Israëlische illegale kolonisten de boel hadden aangestoken. Er waren militairen aanwezig bij dit gebeuren en deze lieten de 2 kolonisten lopen, daarnaast beletten deze militairen de Palestijnen om naar hun grond te gaan in een poging de brand daar te blussen……
Lees het volgende ontluisterende artikel waarin ook het verhaal over een Palestijn die door een kolonist werd vermoord en de militairen die deze psychopaat lieten gaan en de sporen hebben proberen te wissen (gelukkig tevergeefs, al is het maar de vraag of er vervolging tegen de kolonist zal worden ingesteld, helaas is deze vraag stellen maar al te vaak haar beantwoorden, niet dus).
Zomaar een paar zaken waar Palestijnen op de West Bank dagelijks mee te maken hebben, dit nog naast alle vernederingen, beledigingen en pesterijen die de Palestijnen op de Werst Bank dag in dag uit moeten ondergaan bij de vele Israëlische wegblokkades……. Pesterijen van het Israëlische leger en van de illegale kolonisten (en illegaal zijn de kolonisten m.i. allemaal!!), pesterijen die na 10 keer niet anders kunnen worden gezien dan uitoefening van Israëlische terreur….. Walgelijk!!

Het is al lang duidelijk dat Israël het leven van Palestijnen op de West Bank onmogelijk wil maken, in de hoop dat men vertrekt naar het buitenland, ofwel Israël is bezig met een langzame etnische zuivering……… Nog een voorbeeld van etnische zuivering: Palestijnse jongeren die in het buitenland studeren worden bij terugkomst door Israël veelal niet meer toegelaten tot hun geboorteland, ofwel die zijn door het studeren stateloos geworden…….

Video Shows Israeli Settlers Starting West Bank Fires, Contradicting Army Statement

(MEMO) — Israeli human rights organisation B’Tselem has released a video showing illegal Israeli settlers setting fire to fields in the occupied West Bank, contradicting the Israeli army’s claim that the blaze was started by Palestinians.

The Spokesperson’s Unit of the Israeli army was yesterday forced to change its original statement, in which it claimed to have extinguished “a fire set by Palestinians”.

The fires were started last Friday near the occupied West Bank villages of Burin, Urif and Asira Al-Qibliya, all located off Route 60 south of Nablus. Illegal Israeli settlers from the nearby settlement of Yitzhar had attacked Palestinians from these villages, with both groups subsequently blaming the other for causing the fires which followed.

Contradicting the Israeli army’s claim of Palestinian culpability, video footage released by B’Tselem showed “two Israeli [settlers] — one of them armed with a Tavor assault rifle — entering grasslands, crouching down and walking away. Moments later, flames can be seen in the area where they’d been standing,” the Times of Israel reported.

B’Tselem added that “[Israeli] soldiers who were standing next to [the settlers] did not arrest them and prevent[ed] the Palestinians from reaching their burning lands”. In a separate video, settlers can also be seen throwing rocks at nearby Palestinian homes while four Israeli soldiers stand idly by.

B’Tselem stressed that the Israeli army had granted “almost total immunity” to the settlers involved in the attacks, noting that none were interrogated or arrested following the incident.

Although the Israeli army today issued a new statement saying “several fires were set and quickly spread” and that, “in addition to the fires, some 20 settlers went down to the outskirts of Asirah Al-Qibliyah and began throwing rocks,” it did not admit its attempts to cover up the settlers’ attacks. The Israeli army also refused to comment on why no settlers had been arrested for the arson.

This is not the first time the Israeli army has been found to have covered up settler attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Last month, B’Tselem found that the army had covered up the killing of 23-year-old Mohammed Abd Al-Fatah, who was shot by illegal settlers near Huwara – again located off route 60 – on 3 April. Though media reports at the time stated that a “would-be Palestinian attacker was shot dead […] during an attempted stabbing near Huwara,” B’Tselem’s investigation revealed that in fact Abd Al-Fatah was killed at close range by armed Israeli settlers.

B’Tselem detailed how, at 08:30 local time [06:30 GMT], Abd Al-Fatah “started throwing stones at cars bearing Israeli license plates”, one of which hit an Israeli settler’s car. The driver pulled over, “then two gunshots were heard, apparently fired from inside the vehicle”. The settler then got out of the car and “fired several more shots” at Abd Al-Fatah, with the help of a truck driver who had seen the incident and come to “assist” him.

Despite being transferred to hospital, Abd Al-Fatah later succumbed to his wounds, leaving behind his wife and young daughter.

B’Tselem, however, found evidence that the Israeli army subsequently covered up this series of events:

Minutes after the two settlers opened fire, Israeli military jeeps arrived on the scene. […] Eight soldiers [then] went into two nearby shops to check their security cameras. They dismantled a DVR [recording equipment] in one of the shops and left. About twenty minutes later, the soldiers returned to the shop, reinstalled the DVR and watched the footage. Two soldiers filmed the screen with their mobile phones. They then erased the footage from the DVR and left.

The NGO concluded: “Contrary to media reports, [the] shooting of ‘Abd al-Fatah was unjustified […] The Israeli security forces that arrived on the scene ignored these facts. They did nothing to arrest the two settlers, promptly drove the Palestinians away from the scene, and then addressed the urgent task of eliminating any footage of the incident, to ensure that the truth never comes to light and the shooters would not face any charges or be held accountable in any way.”

Door aanname van de natiestaat wet in het Israëlische parlement, aangevuld met het al vele decennia gevoerde apartheidsbewind in Israël, werd deze staat officieel een fascistische staat (al moet ik toegeven dat ik deze stelling al een aantal decennia uit). Naast dit feit wordt de Palestijnse bevolking ook nog eens vervolgd, waarbij de terreurstaat Israël de ene massamoord na de andere aanricht onder deze oorspronkelijke bevolking van de staat Palestina…… Hoeveel bewijs van duidelijk fascistisch beleid wil je hebben???
Oshrat Kotler, een journalist van het Israëlische Kanaal 13, wacht een aantal aanklachten daar ze de Israëlische militairen die een Palestijnse vader en zijn 15 jarige zoon hebben afgetuigd, mensen die al gevangen waren genomen……. Kotler noemde deze militairen ‘menselijke beesten’, me dunkt nog een eufemisme, daar een mens kan nadenken over zijn/haar daden, ook voordat deze worden begaan, ofwel deze militairen zijn minder dan beesten!!
Met de aanklachten tegen Kotler toont Israël ten overvloede nog eens aan dat het een fascistische staat is, immers ook de persvrijheid wordt geweld aangedaan….. Al is dit bepaald niet de eerste keer is dat de persvrijheid in Israël geweld wordt aangedaan….. Vergeet niet dat Israël de (Israëlische en sociale) media die berichtten over de terreur die Israël uitoefent, uitmaakt als links (alsof dat een schande is..), hun handelen anti-Israëlisch noemt en deze media zelfs neerzet als antisemitisch…… (lullig genoeg werken ook de reguliere westerse media mee aan deze demonisering, zie hoe men omgaat met Corbyn en men deze zonder enig bewijs voor antisemiet uitmaakt….*)

 Onlangs nog werden, met een groot reclamebord buiten Tel Aviv, 4 journalisten getoond die anti-Israëlische berichtgeving, o.a.middels ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) zouden maken…… Deze journalisten schreven en schrijven over de enorme fraude en corruptie van de Israëlische premier, Palestijnenslachter en massamoordenaar Netanyahu…… Netanyahu heeft zelfs een nieuw TV kanaal opgericht, Likud TV, je behoeft niet de hersenen van Einstein te hebben om te weten wat daar gebracht wordt: nepneuws, leugens, leugens en nog eens leugens, plus haat- en angstzaaien tegen/voor de Palestijnen en iedereen die het opneemt voor dit vervolgde volk…….

 Het is een wonder dat er nog steeds geen nadenkende (echte) journalisten zijn vermoord als gevolg van haat- en angstzaaierij…….

(MEMO) – An Israeli journalist who called Israeli army soldiers “animals” for beating a Palestinian father and son in custody is to face trial.
Oshrat Kotler, a journalist with Israel’s Channel 13, is to face trial on charges of incitement, incrimination of suspects, failure to grant a right of reply and more after she called several soldiers accused of beating two Palestinians in custody “human animals”, the Jerusalem Post reported.

 Speaking on the channel’s news programme in February, Kotler said:
When you send your children to the [Israeli] army, they are kids. You send them to the [occupied Palestinian] territories, and they come back as human animals. This is the result of the occupation.
Her comments allegedly prompted complaints from thousands of viewers, as well as complaints to Israel’s Press Council, an independent body established to safeguard press freedoms and outline journalism ethics. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also responded to Kotler’s comments, saying her words “deserve every condemnation” and that he is “proud of the [Israeli army] soldiers and loves them very much.”
She now faces trial and will appear at a court hearing, though it is unclear when she will be summoned.
The Israeli soldiers to whom Kotler referred were last week convicted of aggravated assault and aggravated battery for beating a 50-year-old Palestinian and his 15-year-old son who were detained in custody. The soldiers were suspected of beating the father and son as revenge for a
December attack on members of their battalion, since both sets of soldiers belong to the same unit – the ultra-Orthodox Netzah Yehuda Battalion of the Kfir Brigade, which is stationed in northern West Bank city of Jenin.
Details of the brutal beating emerged during February’s court proceedings, with the 15-year-old boy telling the court: “I was lying on my back, with hands cuffed behind my back and a blindfold over my eyes. I was kicked by four soldiers – who used their hands, feet and the barrels of their M16 rifles – in the face, chest, abdomen, legs, and testicles […] I couldn’t open my left eye and my mouth was filled with blood.”
Despite the severity of the crimes and the Netzah Yehuda battalion’s history of anti-Palestinian violence, the soldiers reached a plea bargain and will serve only 190 days in prison. They were sentenced yesterday by an Israeli military court.
The bid to take Kotler to court will be seen as the latest evidence of Israel’s attempts to silence anyone who criticises its army or politicians. Journalists in particular have come under attack, with Netanyahu slamming the “left-wing media” for conspiring against him and the country’s interests ahead of the upcoming election on 9 April.
Netanyahu drew criticism in January when a billboard appeared outside Tel Aviv showing a number of prominent journalists who have been critical of his premiership with the words “they will not decide”. The four journalists had been closely covering the corruption scandal in which Netanyahu has long been embroiled, and it was thought his Likud party was behind the campaign to discredit them. Netanyahu’s rivals lambasted the move, with head of the Yesh Atid party and Blue and White (Kahol Lavan) co-leader Yair Lapid labelling the move incitement.
Netanyahu has also tried to side-step the mainstream media by creating his own TV channel, dubbed Likud TV. Launching the channel on his official Facebook page with the slogan “we’re throwing the ‘fake’ out of the news,” Netanyahu said that “whoever the media praises is bad for Likud and usually whoever it crucifies is good for Likud”.
Commentators were quick to point out the similarity between Netanyahu’s campaign and that of US President Donald Trump, noting that Likud TV “seems to follow the model of [Trump’s] Real News Update” ahead of the US elections due to be held in 2020. Trump has championed the “fake news” narrative, labelling journalists the “enemy of the people” and taking aim at some of America’s biggest news outlets.

Intel investeert miljarden in een fascistische apartheidsstaat

DeBeurs.nl maakte afgelopen dinsdag bekend dat het VS bedrijf Intel miljarden dollars meer gaat investeren in Israël…..
Alsof Israël geen fascistische staat is na het aannemen van de natiestaat wet….. Alsof Israël niet een overduidelijk apartheidsbeleid voert…… Alsof Israël sinds vorig jaar maart niet meer dan 150 ongewapende Palestijnse demonstranten heeft vermoordt (waaronder kinderen, invaliden, medisch personeel en journalisten..)… Alsof Israël niet de ene massamoord na de andere op de Palestijnen begaat….. Alsof Israël geen terreur uitoefent in Syrië en daar diverse terreurgroepen heeft gesteund…….. (zelfs IS = ISIS!)
Bedrijven als Intel zijn zo machtig dat ze volkomen schijt kunnen hebben aan de verontwaardiging onder haar klanten over zaken zoals hierboven beschreven, daar de meeste consumenten geen gelegenheid hebben om een computer zonder Intel-chip te kopen…. Ofwel dit soort bedrijven maken misbruik van hun machtspositie op de wereldmarkt, waar ze regeringen in hun zak hebben zoals in dit geval de Trump administratie, (al zit die administratie bomvol met lobbyisten voor Israël, het militair-industrieel complex, de oliemaffia, de bankensector en andere grote bedrijven als Intel…..)
Intel steunt met haar investeringen de onderdrukking van het Palestijnse volk, zoals de vele massamoorden die Israël begaat op die Palestijnen….. Ach ja, grote bedrijven hebben nooit moeite gehad met het steunen van fascistische en/of apartheidsregimes >> ‘leve het ijskoude en inhumane neoliberalisme……’

Intel steekt miljarden in Israël

JERUZALEM (AFN) – Intel investeert omgerekend bijna 11 miljard dollar in Israël. De Amerikaanse chipgigant maakte al eerder bekend zijn productiefaciliteiten in onder meer dat land uit te willen breiden. De omvang van de investering, die duizenden banen moet opleveren, is nu door de overheid bekendgemaakt.

Volgens een Israëlische krant verwacht Intel een bijdrage van 10 procent van de overheid voor zijn investering. Intel wil onder meer zijn fabriek in Kiryat Gat uitbreiden. Er wordt nu gewerkt aan een plan voor continue investeringen in die productielocatie.

Israël en VS werken samen in tegenwerken van critici op beleid t.a.v. Palestijnen

Kamel Hawwash, de schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, is een criticus van het VS beleid t.a.v. de Palestijnen en als zodanig werd hem de toegang tot de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël geweigerd. Hawwash is allesbehalve een uitzondering….. Als je je mond opendoet en Israël volkomen terecht bekritiseert voor de terreur die dit land dag in dag uit, 365 dagen per jaar uitoefent op de Palestijnen (en dat als sinds de illegale stichting van Israël in 1948), kan je het vergeten, je komt de zogenaamde democratische straat Israël niet in……..

 Zelfs mensen van joodse komaf met kritiek op het inhumane fascistische beleid van Israël, wordt de toegang tot dat land ontzegd……

‘Niet vreemd dus’ dat Palestijnen die kritiek leveren op Israël allesbehalve veilig zijn, zij lopen grote kans te worden gearresteerd en gevangen te worden gezet…… Zo zitten er in Israël naar schatting 500 Palestijnen, inclusief vrouwen en kinderen vast, alleen voor het feit dat ze kritiek hadden op Israël en dat toevertrouwden aan de sociale media……*
Beste bezoeker het kan nog gekker: Israël en de VS werken samen en wisselen namen uit, zo kan je het als niet VS burger wel vergeten naar de VS te reizen (wat altijd een slecht idee is), wanneer je kritiek hebt geleverd op het fascistische apartheidsbewind in Israël……
Kortom zowel Israël als de VS gebruiken fascistische methoden om mensen te weren (en/of hen het leven onmogelijk te maken)………
Daarover gesproken: het meest smerige is wel dat je met kritiek op de grootschalige terreur van Israël wordt ‘afgemaakt’ als antisemiet…… Ach ja, fascistische staten werpen altijd elke kritiek van zich en bestraffen degenen die zich daar schuldig aan maken….. Weten we tenminste waar we aan toe zijn zowel met zowel Israël als met de VS, beiden fascistische terreurstaten! (waar de VS nog niet geheel klaar is met de fascistisering van de maatschappij)

Supporting Palestine Can Now Get You Denied Entry to the US

I have been a severe critic of the current US administration’s policy towards the Palestinians. But does this make me a possible security threat to the US? Of course not.
(MEE) — In April 2017, while travelling for a routine family holiday to Jerusalem, I was denied entry upon arrival at Tel Aviv airport. Israeli authorities’ official – and bizarre – explanation for the entry denial was: I had attempted to “gain illegal entry”. However, being British citizens, we are normally allowed to travel to Israel without a visa. We have it issued at the entry point and I had obtained it on many occasions before.
But as I came to realise later the real reason was due to my role as vice chair of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), a UK-based organisation that campaigns peacefully for Palestinian rights and which upholds the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel’s occupation.
BDS Promoters Denied

In March 2017, Israel passed the “BDS law“, which allowed it to deny entry to those engaged in BDS movement promotion. My colleague and PSC chair, Hugh Lanning, was denied entry soon after the law was passed. Another colleague, Anwar Makhlouf, head of the Palestinian Federation of Chile, was also denied entry at the Allenby Bridge based on the same law.
When I contacted both the British embassy in Tel Aviv and the foreign office in London for an explanation, I received the same reply: this was a sovereign decision for Israel. This meant Britain did not even acknowledge that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian Territories. The UK’s position is what gives Israel the green light to conduct its policy with total impunity.
Even pro-Palestine Jewish foreign nationals, who are supposedly entitled to go to Israel by the Law of Return (which grants citizenship to Jews from anywhere in the world) have been denied entry, and even denied permission to board their flights to Israel.
In July 2017, five members of an interfaith delegation were denied permission to board a Lufthansa flight at Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport that would ultimately take them to Tel Aviv. Among them was Rabbi Alissa Wise of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), who said in a statement: “Israel denied me the ability to travel there because of my work for justice for Palestinians, even though I’m Jewish and a rabbi.”
She added: “I’m heartbroken and outraged. This is yet another demonstration that democracy and tolerance in Israel only extends to those who fall in line with its increasingly repressive policies against Palestinians.”
Last July, Ariel Gold, co-director of BDS campaign group Code Pink, was denied entry at Ben Gurion airport despite obtaining a visa in advance to take a course at the Hebrew University. Her deportation, and those of others, are normally ordered by Israeli Minister of Security Gilan Erdan, and Israeli Minister of Interior Aryeh Deri.
The most recent case of entry denial involved Lara Alqasem, a 22-year-old Palestinian-American student, despite the fact that she has recently been granted a student visa for her masters’ degree in the Hebrew University. Alqasem spent days in detention at Tel Aviv airport struggling to be allowed to join the course she had registered for.
At the time of writing, Alqasem was planning a second appeal to Israeli courts. She stood her ground, refusing to bow to the demands by Erdan to renounce the BDS movement.
When I was denied entry to Israel last year, the Israeli interrogator had printed many pages of my tweets and challenged me about a small number of them. However, because they were presented to me in Hebrew I declined the opportunity to comment.
Israel’s arrests of Palestinians for social media posts have soared. In May, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Centre for Studies (PPC) said that Israel had detained some 500 Palestinians, including women and children, because of their social media posts. In 2015, Dareen Tatour, a Palestinian poet, was detained for three years, before her release last month, for writing a poem, entitled “Resist my people, resist.”
US Ban?
Entry denial due to BDS movement promotion is an established Israeli policy. I wonder, however, if my activity on social media, and my op-eds on the Palestinian conflict, were the reasons behind being denied boarding of a US-bound plane at Heathrow airport in August.
US authorities have thus far refused to provide me with an explanation as to why this happened despite having initially secured approval through the visa waiver (ESTA) scheme, just as any other British citizen is normally entitled to do.
ESTA entitles the holder to travel to the US without a visa for a two-year period. I had obtained this in the past and travelled to the US to attend conferences connected to my academic work without any problem, the last time being in 2015.
My trip was planned at short notice to spend Eid Al-Adha with relatives in America. Having obtained my ESTA, I made my way to Heathrow to board a Virgin Atlantic flight to Seattle on 17 August. Upon arriving, I tried to check-in via the terminals but could not.
I was informed by a member of staff that I would not be allowed to travel since my ESTA had been declined, despite its initial approval. No explanation was given. I was then told that I could apply for a visa at the American Consulate in London.
I was shocked and devastated. I had now missed the window for my holiday and lost a substantial amount of money, which was not recoverable.
What could possibly have changed since my last trip to the US? My immediate answer was that there was a new administration in the White House, with little tolerance for foreigners and which is blindingly supportive of Israel.
However, I decided to investigate further before my hunch was confirmed. I wrote to the US ambassador in London and completed a “redress” request directly to the US Department for Homeland Security.
A couple of weeks later, the embassy responded through its Customs and Border Protection Attache saying: “Whilst the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are unable to discuss any person’s denial of an ESTA or their admission into the US due to security/privacy policy laws, I can confirm that you will require Non-Immigrant visa should you wish to travel to the US in the future.”
The “redress” response, which arrived a few days later, was almost unintelligible.
Trump’s America
In the absence of an explanation, I am left with the conclusion that Trump’s America does not tolerate criticism of its policies and that it works very closely with Israel, sharing intelligence about individuals who are deemed undesirable for both countries.
It is safe to assume that Israeli authorities have supplied US authorities with names of individuals like myself who have been denied entry because of their advocacy for the Palestinian people. However, for the US to then deny them entry based on this peaceful work is very troubling.
I have been a severe critic of the current US administration’s policy towards the Palestinians. But does this make me a possible security threat to the US? Of course not. However, it helps Israel to further bully its critics into silence if they fear being denied entry to other countries that Israel can influence.
Neither denial of entry to Israel nor to the US will silence supporters of the Palestinian people. In fact, this will embolden us to be even more vocal in our criticism of apartheid Israel.

Ten eerste is Israël sinds kort officieel een natiestaat, waar de rechten van Joden ver gaan boven die van andere inwoners van dat gestolen land (dat laatste komt er ook nog eens bij), ofwel Israël is een apartheidsstaat……….. Ten tweede is de politiek in Israël zo corrupt als de pest, waar de premier wel de kroon spant als het over corruptie gaat, zelfs zijn vrouw is intussen aangeklaagd voor fraude…….
Ten derde: als er één land is waar de mensenrechten op enorm schaal worden geschonden is het Israël wel, oh nee wacht, de grote vriend van Israël en de VS, Saoedi-Arabië overtreft het nog net…. Dat land werd overigens niet eens genoemd door Pompeo, die met zijn lulpraatje Iran afschilderde als alles wat tegenovergesteld is aan Israël, terwijl S-A ver boven Iran uittorend wat betreft dictatuur (dat is Iran niet eens), mensenrechtenschendingen en een land is dat niet alleen in eigen land minderheden als sjiieten bestrijdt, maar zelfs een genocide uitvoert tegen de sjiieten in buurland Jemen……

(MEMO) — US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said yesterday that “Israel is everything we want the entire Middle East to look like going forward” and that US-Israel relations are “stronger than ever”.
Speaking at an award ceremony held by the Jewish Institute for National Security of America in Washington DC, Pompeo hailed Israel as “democratic and prosperous”, adding “it desires peace, it is a home to a free press and a thriving economy,” Arutz Sheva reported.
Pompeo then compared Israel to Iran, citing the latter’s “corrupt leaders [who] assault the human rights of their own people and finance terrorism in every corner of the Middle East”. Pompeo lamented that the US administration under former President Barack Obama “had more respect for the leaders of Iran than it did for the State of Israel,” stressing that
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is standing where it should firmly be: On the side of Israel.”
Pompeo also discussed the long-awaited US peace initiative – dubbed the “deal of the century” – hailing it as a “truly historic” effort to reach an agreement. Pompeo said that “we [the USA] are very hopeful that one day the Palestinian people will have the same kinds of things, the same material, the same opportunities that the people of Israel have,” according to the Jerusalem Post. Pompeo added “We very much want you [the Palestinians] to have a space.”
Yet the Secretary of State also admitted that despite this “hope” for a Palestinian “space”, he had that same day denied a $165 million transfer of aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) citing the PA’s “funding of terror”. Pompeo was referring to the PA’s refusal to adhere to US demands to cease so-called “martyr payments” to the families of those killed by Israeli occupation forces or those incarcerated in Israeli prisons. Other countries have also put pressure on the PA, with Israel enacting a law to withhold $130 million per month of tax revenue collected on behalf of the PA unless it ceases these stipends and Australia cutting its aid to the PA.
Though US-Israel ties have historically been strong, under President Donald Trump’s administration these ties have reached new heights. Last week the largest ever US aid package to Israel – worth $38 billion over 10 years – entered into force. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the US and Israel in 2016 under the Obama Administration, but State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert hailed the deal as reflecting “the enduring and unshakable commitment of the President [Trump], this Administration, and the American people to Israel’s security”.
Trump has also spearheaded the so-called “deal of the century”, a peace initiative he hopes will solve the decades-long situation in Israel-Palestine. Last month the president expressed support for the two-state solution for the first time since entering office. He explained: “I like two-state solution. Yeah. That’s what I think… that’s what I think works best. I don’t even have to speak to anybody, that’s my feeling… I think two-state solution works best.” Despite such attempts to appear even-handed, the US has been criticised as a dishonest broker in any peace negotiations, with many believing the “deal of the century” will be biased towards Israel and put Israel’s “security” before any measures beneficial to the Palestinians.

Israël is al jaren een fascistische apartheidsstaat (en nog een uiterst gewelddadige ook), e.e.a. is nu vervat in wetgeving, met het aannemen van een natiestaat wet…….

Het was al zo dat Israëlische arabieren (lees: Palestijnen die in 1948 niet werden verjaagd van hun grond en/of uit hun huis) in veel steden en dorpen niet welkom waren, met deze wet is deze apartheidsmaatregel in feite geïnstitutionaliseerd……..
Ook de officiële taal is vanaf nu Hebreeuws……. Voorts mogen straks ook LGBT personen geweigerd worden in dorpen waar uitspuitend zionistische (ofwel: fascistische) joden wonen…..
Er werd gisteren internationaal veel gesproken over deze wetgeving en lullig genoeg had niemand in de reguliere media het lef te zeggen waar het op staat: Israël is nu officieel een fascistische apartheidsstaat….. Veel gedraai rond de pispot, maar te laf om de mond open te trekken en deze fascistische wetgeving keihard te veroordelen…….
Voorts zal de Israëlische regering met deze wetgeving het stichten van joodse nederzettingen (in illegaal bezet gebied op de West Bank) promoten en steunen…….. En dan durven de westerse politici te zeggen dat men geen commentaar wil leveren op Israël om de ‘vredesonderhandelingen’ niet te frustreren……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

 Op Radio1 was gisteren een vertegenwoordiger van Human Rights Watch (HRW) te horen, deze Jan Kooy* stelde in feite dat je nog niet kan spreken van apartheid in Israël en er zelfs nog sprake is van democratie…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Wat een ongelofelijk slappe zak, als je niet van apartheid kan spreken in Israël, wanneer kan je daar dan wel over spreken????? (niet meer doneren aan deze waardeloze organisatie mensen!)

Beste bezoeker, van onze politieke partijen moeten we het niet hebben, de meeste vertegenwoordigers daarvan zullen Israël zelfs nog steunen als ze voor de Palestijnen concentratiekampen zouden inrichten……. Laten we daarom bewegingen als BDS** steunen en alle producten uit Israël boycotten en producten waar de oorsprong niet op terug te vinden is, niet langer kopen!!
We hebben intussen al te veel fascistische staten (beter: ‘nazi-staten’) gehad en lullig genoeg hebben we die nog steeds, tijd voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) haar werk een keer te doen en de leiders van Israël veroordeelt waarvoor ze staan:

  • massamoorden
  • martelingen,
  • oorlogsmisdaden
  • het stelen van land
  • het vasthouden van volwassenen en kinderen, zonder een vorm van berechting (al stelt de rechtspraak in Israël niets voor…)
  • discriminatie van Palestijnen en Druzen
  • grootschender van mensen- en kinderrechten
  • het illegaal bezet houden van land, het vernietigen van enorm veel onroerend goed, zelfs als het betreffende pand bijvoorbeeld nog wordt bewoond
  • het collectief straffen van Palestijnse families, als een wanhopige familielid bijvoorbeeld een Israëlische psychopathische soldaat aanvalt dan wel vermoord, een manier van straffen die NB door de SS werd vervolmaakt tijdens WOII……..

Israel Passes ‘Nation State’ Law Enshrining Jewish Supremacy

(MEE) — Israel passed a law on Thursday giving Jews supremacy over all non-Jewish Israeli citizens, which critics and members of the state’s Palestinian minority called racist, likening the legislation to apartheid.
The “Nation State” law passed by a vote of 62-55 and two abstentions in the 120-member parliament after months of political argument. Following the vote Palestinian lawmakers shouted and tore up papers.
Parliament Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein called on security to eject the Palestinian MPs, who were led out crying “You are racist”.
“This is a defining moment in the annals of Zionism and the history of the state of Israel,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, after the vote.
Hassan Jabareen, general director of Adalah, the Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (LCAMRI) , said the law features key elements of apartheid, which he said “is not only immoral but also absolutely prohibited under international law”.
“The new law constitutionally enshrines the identity of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people only – despite the 1.5 million Palestinian citizens of the state and residents of East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights – and guarantees the exclusive ethnic-religious character of Israel as Jewish,” he said.
“By defining sovereignty and democratic self-rule as belonging solely to the Jewish people – wherever they live around the world – Israel has made discrimination a constitutional value and has professed its commitment to favoring Jewish supremacy as the bedrock of its institutions.”
Mazin Qumsiyya, a writer and activist, told Middle East Eye that Israel was moving down a dark path.
“Colonial settler states like Israel move towards more and more extremism before they arrive at one of the three known outcomes of colonialism: the Algerian outcome (a two-tiered ethnic system), the Australian/USA outcome (genocide of natives), or the rest of the world model (coexistance in one pluralistic state),” he said.
“The Nation State law is written mostly for self-validation by racists who know the third outcome is inevitably arriving soon.”
Two Tiers
Less than 500 words long, the Nation State law accords exclusive “national self-determination” rights – the right to decide Israel’s national priorities, of both symbolic and practical importance – to Jewish people, wherever they may live, in Israel or abroad, and whether or not they even hold Israeli citizenship.
The law does not, notably, say that Palestinian and other non-Jewish citizens of Israel are entitled to equal treatment under the law.
The law also gives Hebrew superior status over Arabic, making the former the state’s only official language and demoting the latter to merely a language with a “special status”.
In effect, the Nation State law, which as a basic law holds constitutional power, means Israel’s ethno-religious character supersedes its democratic one.
The bill has been criticised by Palestinian citizens of Israel, liberal Jewish Israelis, Israel’s president and rights groups, some of whom have said the law would amount to apartheid.
“Twenty percent of the citizens will be discriminated against, by definition. What is that if not apartheid? This is racist and unprecedented legislation from a government that has lost all shame,” tweeted Joint List party chair Ayman Odeh earlier in the week, anticipating the law’s passage.
“This is a mortal wound for Arab citizens [of Israel], and for democracy, no less.”
Fellow Joint List lawmaker, Aida Touma-Suleiman, slammed the bill, saying it would “establish Jewish supremacy” and “wipe the word ‘equality’ from the political lexicon in the State of Israel.”
The Palestinian members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, were joined by Jewish liberal lawmakers and about 2,500 demonstrators on Saturday night, in a march through the main streets of downtown Tel Aviv to protest the bill.
Rights groups say Israel has been discriminating against its non-Jewish citizens ever since the state was founded in 1948, pointing to dozens of Israeli laws that mandate preferential treatment to Jews.
However, the law will have greater, more lasting impact as it enshrines a two-tiered system of rights in a basic law.
Coalition Concessions
While Netanyahu’s government has ignored the protests of Palestinian parliamentarians and left-leaning Zionist lawmakers, it altered the law’s language in recent weeks in order to secure common ground between the centre-right and far-right factions of the cabinet.
The far-right religious bloc insisted on altering a clause committing the government to “strengthen the affinity between the state and the Jewish people,” ensuring that it would only apply to foreign Jews. The religious parties feared that if, as in its original language, the bill applied to Israeli Jews as well, it would legitimate liberal streams of the Jewish religion, and weaken their own monopoly on issues of synagogue and state.
The centre-right members of Netanyahu’s coalition government worried that, were the law to include language which could be easily understood as enshrining racial discrimination into law, it could further sour Israel’s relations with the world’s western democracies, who are still its most important international allies and largest trading partners.
One clause in particluar, 7b, had attracted much concern from Israel’s allies and even its presidnet, Reuven Rivlin.
Clause 7b would have allowed Jewish-only communities, and said the “state can allow a community composed of people of the same faith or nationality to maintain an exclusive community”.
Rivlin condemned the clause, saying it would “allow any community to establish residential communities that exclude Sephardic Jews, Ultra-Orthodox people, Druze, LGBT people”.
Under such pressure and encouraged by the centre right, 7b was removed, with the article concerning Jewish settlement changed to: “The state views the development of Jewish settlement as a national value and will act to encourage and promote its establishment and consolidation” – mandating state support for Jewish-only communities.
However, MK Dov Khenin from the Joint List indicated that the new wording, which was drafted by ultra-nationalist Naftali Bennet, is even worse than the original.
“While the earlier wording pretended to be neutral, stating that separate communities were possible for each group, now the cat is out of the bag and it’s stating explicitly that only Jewish communities will get priority,” he said.
“This is a model of undisguised racism, suited only to corrupt rulers who have lost all shame.”
Prior to the law’s passing, over 900 locales in Israel – approximately three-quarters of all townships in the country – already forbade non-Jews from living within their municipal borders.
Sanctioning the state to diminish the property rights of Palestinian citizens of Israel is seemingly backed by widespread popular support. An Israel Democracy Institute poll published in November found that two-thirds of Israeli Jews believe that the right of Palestinian citizens of Israel to buy land in the country should be curtailed, while a quarter of Israeli Jews said any such purchases should be forbidden altogether.
In recent weeks, a family of Palestinian citizens of Israel who purchased a home in the northern city of Afula was protested by hundreds of locals, including the former mayor, who told local press, “’the residents of Afula don’t want a mixed city, but rather a Jewish city, and it’s their right. This is not racism.”
Adalah has panned the Nation-State law, saying it “discriminates against the Arabs in the fields of citizenship, property and land, language and culture, and justifies their inferiority in all spheres of life by excluding them from the political community that constitutes the sovereign in their homeland”.
“No country in the world today is defined as a democratic state where the constitutional identity is determined by ethnic affiliation that overrides the principle of equal citizenship,” the group said in a statement.

How Israel Makes Apartheid Against Palestinians “Legal”

‘Jewish nation state’ bill is only the latest attempt to legislate discrimination against Palestinians.
(MEE) This week, if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gets his way, the Israeli government will formally pass into law the “Jewish nation state” bill. The precise final text remained unclear at the time of writing, with compromises and amendments still being discussed among coalition partners.
With the Knesset’s summer recess on the horizon, and Netanyahu seemingly determined to pass the law ahead of the break, the initiative has risen to the top of the news agenda in Israel, with high-profile interventions from opponents and supporters.
Last Tuesday, President Reuven Rivlin warned in a public letter of what he believes are the dangers inherent in the law – especially an article designed to protect and promote the existence of Jewish-only communities.

Lobbying efforts

Meanwhile, a number of Jewish American leaders have been strongly urging Netanyahu to reconsider, intensifying their lobbying efforts to prevent the bill’s passage.
These responses have, regrettably but predictably, been characterised by a failure to understand or take sufficiently into account how Israel’s status as a “Jewish state” has always been reflected in legislation and practice, and, crucially, how this has impacted on Palestinians since 1948.
Many discriminatory laws are already on the books, and legal ways to create segregated communities in Israel already exist. There is no right to equality, and Israel is not a state of all its citizens. The much-heralded Declaration of Independence is not a constitutional law, and the Basic Law already privileges the protection of a “Jewish state” over equality for non-Jewish citizens.
As a UN special rapporteur put it in 2012, Israeli authorities already pursue “a land development model that excludes, discriminates against and displaces minorities.” The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has similarly noted “the enactment of a number of discriminatory laws on land issues which disproportionately affect non-Jewish communities.”
Indeed, the issue of Jewish-only communities, which has dominated recent criticism over the proposed bill, is often debated without reference to the fact that Israel already has hundreds of such segregated communities, thanks to the role of “admission committees.”

Traced back to the Nakba

A decade ago, Human Rights Watch reported on how these committees “are made up of government and community representatives as well as a senior official in the Jewish Agency or the Zionist Organisation, and have notoriously been used to exclude Arabs from living in rural Jewish communities.”
Such decades-old institutionalised discrimination, which can be traced all the way back to the Nakba, makes a mockery of the claim by the Israel Democracy Institute’s Mordechai Kremnitzer that the new law would somehow constitute “the end of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.”
The new law does, however, represent an innovation, both legally and politically, as analysed by legal rights centre Adalah in a new position paper published on Sunday; enjoying the status of a Basic Law, the Jewish nation state bill would anchor racist practices in the constitution.
Coverage by Western media has, on the whole, reproduced the lacuna of the bill’s Israeli critics. Yet, the omission of the experience of Palestinian citizens in this “Jewish and democratic” state is compounded by an analysis that fails to look deeper into why this legislation is being proposed at all.
The “Jewish nation state” bill is not the product of a right-wing tussle between Likud and Jewish Home, or Netanyahu and Naftali Bennett. Rather, tracing the origins of this proposed legislation reveals that it is, in essence, pushback against the efforts by Palestinian citizens over the last two decades to affirm their national identity and demand a state of all its citizens.

Doubling down

Not long after former Shin Bet head Avi Dichter began efforts to pass a “Jewish nation state” bill in 2011, Israeli journalist Lahav Harkov – now news editor of the Jerusalem Post – praised the initiative by citing “campaigns to delegitimize Israel on the rise both inside and outside the country.”
Thus, the response from the Israeli political establishment to a mobilised Palestinian citizenry demanding genuine equality has been to double-down on discrimination, and to defiantly and ever-more explicitly assert and legally protect the existence of a “Jewish state.”
But this is not without its advantages, as highlighted by the furore over the new bill. For what the draft legislation threatens is not the existence of a “democratic” Israel, but rather critics’ idea of a “Jewish and democratic” state (or at least the plausibility of maintaining this idea).
Through its crudeness, the bill threatens Israel’s ability to continue long-standing, institutionalised discrimination with no international cost, a prospect flagged through the warnings of Israel’s attorney general and Jewish American leader Rabbi Rick Jacobs.

Demographic war

“The true face of Zionism in Israel,” wrote Orly Noy in +972 magazine last week, is “an inherent, perpetual demographic war against its Palestinian citizens. If Israel seeks to be Jewish and democratic, it needs to actively ensure a Jewish majority.”
The “Jewish nation state” bill, whatever its final fate, is part of this historic and ongoing demographic war – one that is testimony to the activism of Palestinian citizens and an effort to stifle it.
As Israel consolidates the de facto single state between the river and the sea, this won’t be the last attempt to see the apartheid reality on the ground further reflected in legislation.

Dat de Gazastrook een openluchtgevangenis is, die het best te vergelijken is met het getto van Warschau tijdens WOII, zal waarschijnlijk nog maar een klein aantal mensen bevreemden, om die ‘over de streep te trekken heeft Israël nu zelfs een bootje met gewonde Palestijnen verhinderd de Gazastrook te verlaten om op Cyprus medische hulp te zoeken……. Als bij het getto van Warschau, waar de joden dit getto niet mochten verlaten…….

De gewonde Palestijnen waar het hier om gaat, zijn godbetert door Israëlische militairen gewond geraakt, waarbij ze nog ‘van geluk’ mogen spreken dat ze niet werden vermoord in de immer voortdurende grootscheepse Israëlische terreur……

Zoals zo vaak op deze plek gesteld: hoe is het in godsnaam mogelijk dat de wereld Israël laat begaan met haar uiterst gruwelijk fascistische geweld tegen een bevolking, die samengedrukt op een strook land gevangen zit en zich amper kan verzetten en verdedigen tegen het moderne Israëlische leger…… (zoals in het verleden bijvoorbeeld een Sioux krijger met pijl en boog geen kans had tegen het zwaar bewapende leger van de VS…)
Overigens op de West Bank is het niet veel beter, ook daar wordt de mensen met opzet het leven onmogelijk gemaakt, ofwel in feite is Israël bezig met een langzame etnische zuivering, immers als je niets meer hebt (zoals veel boeren op de West Bank, die de toegang wordt ontzegd tot hun al vele generaties in bezit zijnde landbouwgrond…) blijft er weinig anders over dan het land te verlaten…. Al blijkt nu dat inwoners van de Gazastrook zelfs dat wordt verboden……

Israeli Navy Stops Gaza Boat From Evacuating Wounded Protesters for Treatment

Israeli military accuses Hamas of taking advantage of injured people

The Israeli Navy was dispatched Tuesday to stop a boat which departed the Gaza Strip, and which was carrying injured Palestinian civilians. The boat intended to take the injured civilians from border protests to Cyprus for medical treatment.

The Navy stopped the boat, surrounding it and towing it to an Israeli naval base at Ashdod. The military’s statement claimed that injured people on board are being treated by the Israeli military’s medical personnel.

 The military statement condemned Hamas, claiming the group was behind the “provocation on sea,” and was trying to “take advantage of injured and handicapped people.” Not mentioned in the statement was that the wounded Palestinians were wounded by Israeli crackdowns on protests.

 Israeli officials are arguing that the capture of the ship was legal because they consider their naval blockade of the Gaza Strip legal. Putting aside that question, the blockade was imposed to try to prevent ships reaching Gaza with goods, and is now being interpreted as forbidding people from fleeing the strip, even just to receive medical treatment.
