Kapitein Japans schip spreekt Trump administratie tegen over Iraanse kleefbom op zijn tanker

Het hieronder weergegeven artikel heeft een iets andere kop, daar stelt de schrijver dat de Japanse reder, dus de eigenaar van het schip de duidelijk door de Trump administratie gelogen beschuldiging aan het adres van Iran, als was dit land de dader, heeft tegengesproken. Overigens is het niet vreemd dat reders de versie van kapiteins na een ongeval volgen, als er overduidelijk een derde partij is die een schip heeft aangevallen.

Volgens de kapitein was het geen bom/mijn die de explosie en daarmee brand op zijn schip heeft veroorzaakt, maar een vliegend object en dat strookt volkomen met de schade aan het schip dat een heel stuk boven de waterlijn werd getroffen. Belangrijk nog de opmerking van de reder waarin hij aangeeft dat er volgens de informatie die hij kreeg, geen mijn (of bom, wat je wilt) was bevestigd aan de wand van het schip, de Kokuka Outrageous…….
De VS heeft al geprobeerd de reddingsactie van de Iraanse marine te ontkennen dan wel te bagatelliseren, waar men na een paar dagen stelde dat de VS het personeel van één van de tankers zou hebben gered, echter nu kan men in Washington niet meer ontkennen dat Iran het personeel van beide olietankers heeft gered.
Op een video die e.e.a. zou bewijzen aldus o.a. Trump en Pompeo, is niet te zien wat er gebeurt, waar de VS stelt dat de Iraanse Revolutionaire Garde een kleefmijn van de wand van het schip verwijdert. Buiten de genoemde verklaring van de reder dat er volgens zeggen geen bom aan de scheepsromp was bevestigd, lijkt het me niet meer dan logisch dat wanneer je bezig bent met een reddingsactie, je zo’n bom verwijdert, zeker als dat kan zonder risico op afgaan……. (nogmaals als er een bom/mijn aan het schip was bevestigd en om dat te bevestigen is de video te wazig…..)
Het is wel zeker dat de VS samen met de Golfstaten bezig is om Iran een false flag operatie* in de schoenen te schuiven, zodat men uiteindelijk Iran kan aanvallen, een beproefde gang van zaken, vooral door de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde gebruikt…. de VS!!

Japanese Ship Owner Contradicts US Officials on Tanker Attack

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The owner of the Japanese tanker that was attacked on Thursday in the Gulf of Oman, the Kokuka Outrageous, contradicted the US military’s claims about the attack. Central Command reported that the two tankers were hit with limpet mines, a type of mine that is attached to the hull of a ship below the waterline using magnets. But Yutaka Katada, the owner of the Kokuka Outrageous, said he received reports a projectile hit the ship.
“We received reports that something flew towards the ship,” Katada said at a press conference, “The place where the projectile landed was significantly higher than the water level, so we are absolutely sure that this wasn’t a torpedo. I do not think there was a time bomb or an object attached to the side of the ship.”
US Central Command released a grainy black and white video of a boat alongside a ship, claiming it was an Iranian patrol boat removing a limpet mine from the Kokuka Outrageous, the claim being they were getting rid of the evidence. The video does not conclusively prove anything, as it is hard to tell what the boat is doing. Iranian state media said Iran rescued the crew of both tankers, so the video could have just been a recording of the rescue efforts.
In an interview with Fox and Friends Friday morning, President Trump blamed Iran for the attacks on the tankers. Trump cited the video as proof, “Well Iran did do it, and you know they did it because you saw the boat. I guess one of the mines didn’t explode and it’s probably got essentially Iran written all over it.”
Trump, who has been known to sometimes contradict his more hawkish cabinet members, fell in line with his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who on Thursday, accused Iran of attacking the tankers with no evidence to back up his claim.
Britain’s Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt made a statement on Friday, “We are going to make our own independent assessment, we have our processes to do that, (but) we have no reason not to believe the American assessment and our instinct is to believe it because they are our closest ally.”
No US officials have responded to the Japanese ship owner’s claims.

VS legt nog meer sancties op aan de bevolking van Venezuela, Cuba en Nicaragua

Om de ellende onder de volkeren van Venezuela, Cuba en Nicaragua nog verder te verdiepen, heeft de psychopathische oorlogsmisdadiger Bolton aangekondigd dat de VS deze landen nog meer sancties zal opleggen. In zijn smerige praatje stelde Bolton dat de 3 landen de ‘stromannen’ zijn van het socialisme, waar hij deze landen ook aanduidt als de ‘trojka van tirannie, die volgens hem uit elkaar valt………’

Waar haalt schoft Bolton het lef vandaan, niet alleen daar de VS de echt tirannieke landen als de reli-fascistische dictaturen van Saoedi-Arabië en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten steunt, waar de Egyptische-junta van al-Sisi aan toegevoegd moet worden, maar ook daar de VS een tiranniek beleid voert, met uitoefening van grootschalige terreur, tegen landen die haar niet welgevallig zijn, zoals Syrië en Iran……. Vergeet voorts niet dat de VS met haar economische oorlog tegen Venezuela, Cuba en Nicaragua, in feite terreur uitoefent op de volkeren van die landen…. (hetzelfde geldt uiteraard voor Iran)
Opperploert Bolton deed zijn uitlatingen in de buurt van Miami bij de herdenking van het Bay of Pigs fiasco in april 1961, waarbij de CIA en ultra rechtse Cubanen het soevereine land Cuba aanvielen om het bewind van Castro omver te werpen.
Om het volk van Cuba nog harder te straffen, stelde Bolton dat Cubanen in de VS met familie op Cuba in het vervolg niet meer dan $ 1,000.– per persoon en maximaal 1 keer per kwartaal mogen overmaken naar die familie……. Het is duidelijk: een voortzetting van het programma van ontmoediging voor bewoners van landen die de VS niet welgevallig zijn…..
Met deze tactiek, een economische oorlogsvoering, probeert de VS de bevolking van landen die haar niet welgevallig zijn, zoals de 3 genoemde landen, zo te raken dat ze de straat opgaan voor massademonstraties en daarmee probeert de VS het volk zover te krijgen dat het zittende bewind wordt afgezet…….. Tegelijkertijd durft Bolton te stellen dat hij de volkeren van Venezuela, Cuba en Nicaragua nooit in de steek te laten……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Duidelijk geval van gevaarlijke psychopathische gekte, waarbij elke redelijke en ethische argumentatie ontbreekt……
Een paar uur eerder sprak Pompeo over Cuba en hij wil dat Cuba de onteigende bezittingen van ‘Amerikanen’ teruggeeft aan ‘de rechtmatige eigenaren’ en waarbij hij grote herstelbetalingen, inclusief rente eist van de Cubaanse regering…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! De bezittingen waar Bolton over spreekt waren van smerige plantage en fabriekseigenaren die hun arbeiders vreselijk hebben uitgebuit, voorts gaat het om bezittingen van maffia organisaties die voor de revolutie van Castro en zijn makkers in 1959 op Cuba grote casino’s en bordelen in hun bezit hadden…….
Gelukkig verzet de EU zich tegen deze verdere uitbouw van sancties, echter dat verzet is van nul en generlei waarde, immers het verzet van de EU tegen de hernieuwde sancties van de VS tegen Iran, was er één in woorden, daarna deed en doet de EU niets voor Iran en durven EU bedrijven niet langer te investeren in dat land…….. Eigenlijk onnodig te zeggen dat het hier om een heel smerige vorm van chantage door de Trump administratie gaat, genoeg voor een aanklacht bij het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC)!!

Trump Admin Sanctions ‘Three Stooges of Socialism,’ Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela
The Trump administration on Wednesday intensified its crackdown on Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, rolling back Obama administration policy and announcing new restrictions and sanctions against the three countries whose leaders national security adviser John Bolton dubbed the “three stooges of socialism.”
“The troika of tyranny — Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua — is beginning to crumble,” Bolton said in a hard-hitting speech near Miami on the 58th anniversary of the United States’ failed Bay of Pigs invasion of the island, an attempt to overthrow the Cuban government.
Bolton announced a new cap on the amount of money families in the United States can send their relatives in Cuba. The Obama administration had lifted limits on remittances, but the new limit will be $1,000 per person per quarter, Bolton said. Remittances to Cuba from the United States amounted to $3 billion in 2016, according to the State Department.
Bolton also announced that the U.S. was sanctioning the Central Bank of Venezuela, which the Trump administration says has been instrumental in propping up the embattled government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He also announced sanctions against financial services provider Bancorp, which he claimed is a “slush fund” for Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega.
“The United States looks forward to watching each corner of this sordid triangle of terror fall: in Havana, in Caracas, and in Managua,” Bolton said in South Florida, which is home to thousands of exiles and immigrants from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
He said Obama administration policies gave the Cuban government “political cover to expand its malign influence” across the region, including in Venezuela. Cuba has trained Venezuelan security forces to repress civilians and support Maduro, Bolton said.
“Havana continues to prop up Maduro and help him sustain the brutal suffering of the Venezuelan people,” Bolton said. “As President Trump has said, Maduro is quite simply a ‘Cuban puppet.’”
“Thousands of Cuban doctors in Venezuela are being used as pawns by Maduro and his Cuban sponsors to support his brutal and oppressive reign.”
Bolton’s pledge to “never, ever abandon” the people of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua in their fight for freedom also might ring hollow in light of the historical events he sought to highlight at the event hosted by the Bay of Pigs Veterans Association.
Many Cuban Americans to this day resent the late President John F. Kennedy for not deploying American troops at a critical moment in the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Meanwhile, with the high stakes of the Cold War a fading memory, some critics of U.S. policy toward Venezuela worry that the Trump administration’s stance that all options are on the table, including a military one, to oust Maduro is an empty threat that will only serve to ignite the streets and geopolitical tensions with Russia, compounding the misery of Venezuelan citizens.
“Honoring one of U.S.’ greatest military fiascos from 60 years back suggests
U.S. policy to Latin America owes more now to a perverse Cold War nostalgia than practical benefits for people of the region,” said Ivan Briscoe, the Latin American director for the International Crisis Group (ICG), a think tank headquartered in Brussels.
Bolton spoke just hours after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced in Washington a new policy that allows lawsuits against foreign firms operating on properties Cuba seized from Americans after the 1959 revolution. The United States has enforced a trade blockade against Cuba since the early 1960s.
The announcement comes at a moment of severe economic weakness for Cuba, which is struggling to find enough cash to import basic food and other supplies following a drop in aid from Venezuela and a string of bad years in other key economic sectors.
Pompeo said he won’t renew a bar on litigation that has been in place for two decades, meaning that lawsuits can be filed starting on May 2 when the current suspension expires. The decision could cost dozens of Canadian and European companies tens of billions of dollars in compensation and interest.
Pompeo’s decision gives Americans the right to sue companies that operate out of hotels, tobacco factories, distilleries and other properties Cuba nationalized after Fidel Castro took power. It allows Cubans who became U.S. citizens years after their properties were taken to sue.
The Justice Department has certified roughly 6,000 claims as having merit, according to Kimberly Breier, the top U.S. diplomat for the Americas. Those claims have an estimated value of $8 billion: $2 billion in property and $6 billion in interest, she said. In addition, another 200,000 uncertified claims could run into the tens of billions of dollars, she said.
Breier said there would be no exceptions to the decision, which has already prompted stern responses from Canada and Europe as they have vowed to protect their businesses from lawsuits.
“European companies that are operating in Cuba will have nothing to worry about if they are not operating on properties taken from Americans,” she said.

The decision deals a severe blow to Havana’s efforts to draw foreign investment to the island and comes as Trump steps up pressure to Venezuela’s Maduro, who is holding power with help from other countries, including Cuba, China and Russia.
Spain, which has large investments in hotels and other tourism-related industries on the island, was the first to react. A senior government official told The Associated Press that Madrid would ask the European Union to challenge the U.S. move in the World Trade Organization.
Businesses from Canada, France and Great Britain among other countries also conduct business in properties nationalized after Castro took power.
Johana Tablada, Cuba’s deputy director of U.S. affairs, said on Twitter: “Before they try to euphorically ride a wave of wickedness and lies, they should take a dose of reality. The world has told John Bolton and the U.S. government to eliminate the criminal blockade against Cuba and the Helms-Burton Act” of 1996.
Countries with large investments in Cuba have ferociously protested the law.
“The extraterritorial application of the U.S. embargo is illegal and violates international law,” said Alberto Navarro, the European Union ambassador to Cuba. “I personally consider it immoral. For 60 years the only thing that’s resulted from the embargo is the suffering of the Cuban people.”

Venezuela zou humanitaire hulp weigeren, het echte verhaal ziet er ‘iets anders’ uit

De westerse reguliere media gingen in een nog hogere hysterie versnelling toen vorige week werd gemeld dat Maduro humanitaire hulp uit de VS zou hebben geblokkeerd voor invoer in het land. Maduro zou dit hebben gedaan om aan het bewind te kunnen blijven en deze ‘paranoïde tiran’ zou liever z’n bevolking uithongeren dan voedsel uit de VS het land binnen te laten…..
Uiteraard ziet de werkelijkheid er zoals gewoonlijk totaal anders uit, zo hebben de VN en het Rode Kruis laten weten dat het hier om een PR stunt van de VS gaat……. Zo is de veel getoonde geblokkeerde brug, een foto deel uitmakend van het opgeklopte verhaal van de Trump administratie, de brug waar de hulpgoederen zouden worden tegengehouden, is een brug van weinig betekenis in deze, sterker nog: deze brug is al jaren gesloten……. Nog sterker, volgens een opiniestuk in de La Opinion is deze in 2015 afgebouwde brug nooit in gebruik genomen……

Bovendien, de persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor dergelijke transporten uit de VS, is in het verleden meermaals door de mand gevallen als wapenhandelaar, dus onder het mom van het brengen van humanitaire noodhulp werden er met deze transporten vooral wapens geleverd……
Echter het belangrijkst is wel het feit dat het Rode Kruis en de VN beiden de VS hebben gewaarschuwd niet door te gaan met deze (belachelijke) PR stunt. Niet voor niets, daar de VN en het Rode Kruis veelal zendingen van humanitaire goederen verzorgen en op deze manier politiek bedrijven zal het werk van deze hulporganisaties in de toekomst alleen maar verder bemoeilijken… Bovendien hebben (internationale) hulporganisaties niet gevraagd om aanvullende hulp van de VS….
Om de werkelijkheid nog verder te benadrukken: de Venezolaanse autoriteiten helpen hulporganisaties met de verspreiding van hulpgoederen, goederen waarvoor het Rode Kruis het hulpbudget onlangs verdubbelde en tevreden is over de medewerking van het Maduro regime…….
Hoe is het mogelijk dat de reguliere media zover meegaan in het verdraaien van feiten? Is men er zo van overtuigd de meerderheid van de bevolking te kunnen overtuigen van leugens en halve waarheden, dat men de smerige buitenlandpolitiek van de VS helpt uitdragen…??? Een cliché op deze plek intussen, maar de vraag stellen is haar beantwoorden: inderdaad!! Je liegt, verzwijgt zaken en draait met je collega’s de waarheid op zo’n manier dat het volk de leugens en andere desinformatie gelooft…….. Elke kritiek op die valse berichtgeving, ook al wordt dit gedaan middels feitenmateriaal, wordt door die media (gesteund door politici) afgedaan als ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) en desinformatie…….

Western Media Fall in Lockstep for Cheap Trump/Rubio Venezuela Aid PR Stunt

(FAIR) — The Trump administration’s now completely overt effort to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro had a very successful public relations effort this week, as major Western media outlets uniformly echoed its simplistic, pre-packaged claim that the Venezuelan government was heartlessly withholding foreign aid:

All of the above articles—and scores more like it—repeated the same script: Maduro was blocking aid from the US “out of refusal to relinquish power,” preferring to starve “his own people” rather than feed them. It’s a simple case of good and evil—of a tyrannical, paranoid dictator not letting in aid to feed a starving population.

Except three pieces of key context are missing. Context that, when presented to a neutral observer, would severely undermine the cartoonish narrative being advanced by US media.
  1. Both the Red Cross and UN warned the US not to engage in this aid PR stunt.
  2. The bridge in question is a visual metaphor contrived by the Trump administration of little practical relevance.
  3. The person in charge of US operations in Venezuela has a history of using aid as a cover to deliver weapons to right-wing mercenaries.
    (1) Not only has the international aid community not asked for the “aid,” earlier this week, both the International Red Cross and United Nations warned the US to explicitly not engage in these types of PR stunts. As Washington Post contributor Vincent Bevins pointed out, the transparent cynicism of these efforts was preemptively warned about by the groups actually charged with keeping starving people fed:

The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned the United States about the risks of delivering humanitarian aid to Venezuela without the approval of security forces loyal to President Nicolas Maduro.

UN Warns Against Politicizing Humanitarian Aid in Venezuela(Reuters, 2/6/19):

UNITED NATIONS — The United Nations warned on Wednesday against using aid as a pawn in Venezuela after the United States sent food and medicine to the country’s border and accused President Nicolas Maduro of blocking its delivery with trucks and shipping containers.

Indeed, as Bevins also noted, the Red Cross has long been working with local authorities inside Venezuela to deliver relief, and just last week doubled its budget to do so. We have ample evidence the Maduro government is more than willing to work with international aid when it’s offered in good faith, not when it’s a thinly veiled mechanism to spur civil war and contrive PR victories for those seeking to overthrow the government. It’s not just Maduro—as the Western media are presenting it—who opposes the US aid convoy; it’s the UN and Red Cross. Why do none of the above reports note this rather key piece of information, instead giving the reader the impression it’s only the stance of a sadistic, power-hungry madman?

(2) Despite dozens of media outlets giving the impression (and sometimes explicitly saying) that the Venezuelan government shut down an otherwise functioning pathway into the country, the bridge in question hasn’t been open for years.

It’s true the Venezuelan government appears to have placed an oil tanker and cargo containers on the bridge to prevent incursion from the Colombian side, but the other barriers, as writer and software developer Jason Emery noted, have been in place since at least 2016. According to La Opinion (2/5/16), after its initial construction in 2015, the bridge has never been open to traffic. How can Maduro, as the BBC suggested, “reopen” a bridge that was never open?
The reality is BBC and other Western media were just going along with the narrative pushed by Sen. Marco Rubio and Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, not bothering to check if their primary visual narrative was based on a bad faith, context-free PR stunt.
This point is a relatively superficial one, but in a long term PR battle to win over Western liberals for further military escalation, the superficial matters a lot. Rubio and the Trump administration cooked up a gimmicky visual metaphor, and almost every outlet uncritically passed it along, often making factually inaccurate assumptions along the way—assumptions the Trump State Department and CIA coordinating the effort knew very well they would make.
(3) The Venezuelan government has an entirely rational reason to suspect the US would use humanitarian aid as a cover to smuggle in weapons to foment armed conflict: The person running quarterback for Trump on the current Venezuela operation, Elliot Abrams, literally did just that 30 years ago.

From the first two paragraphs (emphasis added) of a 1987 AP/New York Times article on Elliott Abrams, “Abrams Denies Wrongdoing in Shipping Arms to Contras” (8/17/87—h/t Kevin Gosztola):

Assistant Secretary of State Elliott Abrams has defended his role in authorizing the shipment of weapons on a humanitarian aid flight to Nicaraguan rebels, saying the operation was ”strictly by the book.”

Mr. Abrams spoke at a news conference Saturday in response to statements by Robert Duemling, former head of the State Department’s Nicaraguan humanitarian assistance office, who said he had twice ordered planes to shuttle weapons for the Contras on aid planes at Mr. Abrams’ direction in early 1986.

It’s literally the same person. It’s not that Maduro is vaguely paranoid the US, in general, would dust off its 1980s’ Contra-backing Cold War playbook, or some unspecified assumption about a higher-up or two at State. It’s literally the exact same person in charge of the operation who we know—with 100 percent certainty, because he admitted to it—has a history of using aid convoys as a cover to smuggle in arms to right-wing militias.
It’s all playing out right now, in real time. The same actors, the same tricks, the same patently disingenuous concern for the starving poor. And the US media is stripping it of all this essential context, presenting these radical regime-change operators as bleeding heart humanitarians.
The same US media outlets that have expressly fundraised and run ad campaigns on their image as anti-Trump truth-tellers have mysteriously taken at face value everything the Trump White House and its neoconservative allies have said in their campaign to overthrow the government of Venezuela. The self-aggrandizing “factchecking” brigade that emerged to confront the Trump administration is suddenly nonexistent as it rolls out a transparent, cynical PR strategy to delegitimize a Latin American government it’s trying to overthrow.

Op CounterPunch van 8 februari jl. een artikel van Roger Harris waarin hij een aantal zaken opvoert die duidelijk maken dat Guaidó een zetbaasje is van de VS en dat de zogenaamde afzetting van Maduro (immers op order van de VS stelde Guaidó dat hij de nieuwe president is) en een eventuele installatie van Guaidó als president volkomen tegen de Venezolaanse constitutie ingaat……..

Bovendien is Guaidó voorzitter van een kleine oppositie partij (Voluntad Popular) en niet de oppositieleider van Venezuela, zoals de reguliere media je keer op keer willen doen geloven….. Sterker nog: Guaidó zou zelfs niet tot de top van zijn partij behoren, aldus Harris, voorts zouden andere oppositiepartijen Guaidó niet steunen…..
Lees het volgende artikel en geeft het ajb door, het is van het hoogste belang dat de VS, de NAVO, de EU, Canada en een aantal Latijns Amerikaanse landen met hun handen afblijven van Venezuela…… Als het tot een inval van de VS en de NAVO in Venezuela komt, zullen veel Venezolanen het leven verliezen en gezien de agressie van de VS en haar terreurorganisatie NAVO, zal een fiks deel van Venezuela in puin worden gelegd…….
Laten de VS, Canada en de EU zich maar eens bemoeien met de genocide in Jemen en dan niet op de manier van de VS, het helpen bij die genocide, maar door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie te isoleren, te boycotten en zo te dwingen te stoppen met alweer een genocide, die het westen tegen de eerder door haarzelf gedane verklaringen in, na de genocide in Rwanda, toch laat gebeuren……
Kan het westen eindelijk ook eens Israël onder druk zetten te stoppen met de etnische zuivering van Palestijnen en te stoppen met de massamoorden op dit verdrukte volk…..
De situatie in Jemen en de Palestijnse gebieden is duizenden keren erger dan die in Venezuela en toch wil men bij de laatste, geheel hypocriet, wel ingrijpen……. Vergeet natuurlijk niet dat de situatie in Venezuela geheel te danken is aan de economische oorlog die de VS tegen dit land voerde en voert (nu met de zogenaamd gelegaliseerde hulp middels sancties van de EU…)

Donald Trump imagines Juan Guaidó is the rightful president of Venezuela. Mr. Guaidó, a man of impeccable illegitimacy, was exposed by Cohen and Blumenthal as “a product of a decade-long project overseen by Washington’s elite regime change trainers.” Argentinian sociologist Marco Teruggi described Guaidó in the same article as “a character that has been created for this circumstance” of regime change. Here, his constitutional credentials to be interim president of Venezuela are deconstructed.
Educated at George Washington University in DC, Guaidó was virtually unknown in his native Venezuela before being thrust on to the world stage in a rapidly unfolding series of events. In a poll conducted a little more than a week before Guaidó appointed himself president of the country, 81% of Venezuelans had never even heard of the 35-year-old.
To make a short story shorter, US Vice President Pence phoned Guaidó on the evening of January 22rd and presumably asked him how’d he like to be made president of Venezuela. The next day, Guaidó announced that he considered himself president of Venezuela, followed within minutes by US President Trump confirming the self-appointment.
A few weeks before on January 5, Guaidó had been installed as president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, their unicameral legislature. He had been elected to the assembly from a coastal district with 26% of the vote. It was his party’s turn for the presidency of the body, and he was hand-picked for the position. Guaidó, even within his own party, was not in the top leadership.
Guaidó’s party, Popular Will, is a far-right marginal group whose most enthusiastic boosters are John Bolton, Elliott Abrams, and Mike Pompeo. Popular Will had adopted a strategy of regime change by extra-parliamentary means rather than engage in the democratic electoral process and had not participated in recent Venezuelan elections.
Although anointed by Trump and company, Guaidó’s Popular Will Party is not representative of the “Venezuelan opposition,” which is a fractious bunch whose hatred of Maduro is only matched by their abhorrence of each other. Leading opposition candidate Henri Falcón, who ran against Maduro in 2018 on a neoliberal austerity platform, had been vehemently opposed by Popular Will who demanded that he join their US-backed boycott of the election.
The Venezuelan news outlet, Ultimas Noticias, reported that prominent opposition politician Henrique Capriles, who had run against Maduro in 2013, “affirmed during an interview that the majority of opposition parties did not agree with the self-swearing in of Juan Guaidó as interim president of the country.” Claudio Fermin, president of the party Solutions for Venezuela, wrote “we believe in the vote, in dialogue, we believe in coming to an understanding, we believe Venezuelans need to part ways with the extremist sectors that only offer hatred, revenge, lynching.” Key opposition governor of the State of Táchira, Laidy Gómez, has rejected Guaidó’s support of intervention by the US, warning that it “would generate death of Venezuelans.”
The Guaidó/Trump cabal does not reflect the democratic consensus in Venezuela, where polls consistently show super majorities oppose outside intervention. Popular opinion in Venezuela supports negotiations between the government and the opposition as proposed by Mexico, Uruguay, and the Vatican. The Maduro administration has embraced the negotiations as a peaceful solution to the crisis facing Venezuela.
The US government rejects a negotiated solution, in the words of Vice President Pence: “This is no time for dialogue; this is time for action.” This intransigent position is faithfully echoed by Guaidó. So while most Venezuelans want peace, the self-appointed president, backed by the full force of US military power, wrote in a New York Times op-ed that it was possible to “end the Maduro regime with a minimum of bloodshed.”
The Guaidó/Trump cabal’s fig leaf for legitimacy is based on the bogus argument that Article 233 of the Venezuelan constitution gives the National Assembly the power to declare a national president’s “abandonment” of the office. In which case, the president of the National Assembly can serve as an interim national president, until presidential elections are held. The inconvenient truth is that Maduro has shown no inclination to abandon his post, and the constitution says no such thing.
In fact, the grounds for replacing a president are very clearly laid out in the first paragraph of Article 233 of the Venezuelan constitution and do not include fraudulent or illegitimate election, which is what the cabal has been claiming. In the convoluted logic of the US government and its epigones, if the people elect someone the cabal doesn’t like, the election is by definition fraudulent and the democratically elected winner is ipso facto a dictator.

The function of adjudicating the validity of an election, as in any country, is to be dealt with through court challenges, not by turning to Donald Trump for his approval. And certainly not by anointing an individual from a party that could have run in the 2018 election but decided to boycott.
The Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ), which is the separate supreme court branch of the Venezuelan government has certified Maduro’s reelection, as have independent international observers. Further, no appeal was filed by any of the boycotting parties, while all participating parties – including opposition ones – signed off on the validity of the election after the polls closed.
The far-right opposition has boycotted the high court as well as the electoral process. They contest the legitimacy of the TSJ because some members of the TSJ were appointed by a lame duck National Assembly favorable to Maduro, after a new National Assembly with a majority in opposition had been elected in December 2015 but not yet seated.
Even if President Maduro were somehow deemed to have experienced what is termed a falta absoluta (i.e., some sort of void in the presidency due to death, insanity, absence, etc.), the National Assembly president is only authorized to take over if the falta absoluta occurs before the lawful president “takes possession.” However, Maduro was already “in possession” before the January 10, 2019 presidential inauguration and even before the May 10, 2018 presidential election. Maduro had won the presidency in the 2013 election and ran and won reelection last May.
If the falta absoluta is deemed to have occurred during the first four years of the presidential term, the vice president takes over. Then the constitution decrees that a snap election for the presidency must be held within 30 days. This is what happened when President Hugo Chávez died while in office in 2013. Then Vice President Nicolás Maduro succeeded to the presidency, called for new elections, and was elected by the people of Venezuela.
If it is deemed that the falta absoluta occurred during the last two years of the six-year presidential term, the vice president serves until the end of the term, according to the Venezuelan constitution. And if the time of the alleged falta absoluta is unclear – when Maduro presided over “illegitimate” elections in 2018, as is claimed by the far-right opposition – it is up to the TSJ to decide, not the head of the National Assembly or even such an august authority as US Senator Marco Rubio. Or the craven US press (too numerous to cite), which without bothering to read the plain language of the Bolivarian Constitution, repeatedly refers to Guaidó as the “constitutionally authorized” or “legitimate” president.
As Alfred de Zayas, United Nations independent expert on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order, tweeted: “Article 233 of the Venezuelan constitution is inapplicable and cannot be twisted into legitimizing Guaidó’s self-proclamation as interim President. A coup is a coup.”

VS dreigt Iran met militair geweld op beschuldiging van zaken die VS zelf op grote schaal begaat

Brian Hook, is director Policy Planning, een interne denktank van het VS ministerie van buitenlandse zaken en is de belangrijkste adviseur van oorlogsmisdadiger Mike Pompeo. In die hoedanigheid heeft Hook Iran bedreigd met militair geweld als het doorgaat met het verspreiden van wapens aan diverse groepen, waar deze opperploert uiteraard ook Jemen noemde.
In Jemen en Saoedi-Arabië zou ‘rakettechnologie’ van Iran zijn gevonden in de overblijfselen van door Houthi rebellen afgeschoten raketten…… Er is zegge en schrijve één onderdeel in de elektronica gevonden, dat in Iran werd geproduceerd, waar Hook niet over lult zijn de onderdelen uit westerse landen en zelfs uit de VS, die tegelijkertijd werden gevonden…….. Bovendien, als er nu één land is dat de wereld volpropt met wapens is het de VS zelf wel!!
Het is als met de beschuldiging van de VS en Saoedi-Arabië wapens dat Iran wapens zou hebben verscheept naar Jemen, een beschuldiging van 3 jaar geleden, waar nog steeds geen flinter aan bewijs voor werd geleverd…… Wel is bekend dat 2 Iraanse schepen die werden onderschept en werden weggestuurd, humanitaire hulpgoederen vervoerde….. (al ver voor de Nederlandse giro 555 actie voor de aan honger lijdende Jemenitische bevolking…..) Juist die schepen zouden volgens Saoedi-Arabië en de VS (dat meehelpt aan de blokkade op zee) wapens hebben vervoerd, echter bij aankomst in de dichtstbijzijnde Afrikaanse haven werden de humanitaire hulpgoederen aangetroffen, zonder ook maar een pistool in de lading…

Het laatste geeft ten overvloede nog eens aan dat de VS actief meehelpt aan de genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie aanricht in Jemen en alles doet om Iran te demoniseren, terwijl de V zelfs IS heeft geholpen aan wapens…..* Voorts heeft de VS aan de wieg van IS gestaan en begaat het zelf de ene grote oorlogsmisdaad na de andere, waarvan de allergrootste wel de illegale oorlogen zijn, die de VS voert waar het haar maar uitkomt…….
Kortom de VS is nog steeds op zoek naar de stok om de Iraanse hond te slaan en als zo vaak in het verleden, uiteindelijk is die stok niet nodig voor de VS om een land op volkomen valse gronden aan te vallen en grotendeels te vernietigen, maar ja, de VS is dan ook de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde……….**

De meest belachelijke opmerking van Hook in het hieronder weergegeven artikel is wel de opmerking dat de wereld streeft naar vrede in het Midden- Oosten en dat Iran dat frustreert, letterlijk: “As the world strives toward peace and security in the Middle East, we are working to reverse advances made by Iran and its proxies over the last several years,” ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha ha! Wat een smerige oplichter!!

De wereld streeft naar vrede met de VS voorop en doet dit door zoveel mogelijk burgers te vermoorden, zo heeft de VS alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen vermoord: -in: illegale oorlogen, -tijdens door de CIA georganiseerde opstanden en staatsgrepen, -met het standrechtelijk vermoorden van verdachten, waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht, dus veelal vrouwen en kinderen……. Het brandpunt van deze VS terreur lag in het….. Midden-Oosten!!!

The US will not hesitate to use military force against Iran, a State Department official said Thursday, displaying weaponry he said Tehran sent to different proxies.
The agency’s representative for Iran, Brian Hook, briefed reporters at a military base in Washington regarding Iran’s transfer of arms to proxy groups and the Tehran’s missile development.
He said the US prefers to engage with the country diplomatically, but the military option is on the table.
“We have been very clear with the Iranian regime that we will not hesitate to use military force when our interests are threatened. I think they understand that. I think they understand that very clearly,” Hook said.
“I think right now, while we have the military option on the table, our preference is to use all of the tools that are at our disposal diplomatically,” he added.
The US has taken a much harsher stance on Iran since President Donald Trump took office. Trump pulled Washington out of the Iran nuclear deal and reimposed sanctions on the Tehran earlier this month.
Hook unveiled evidence he said of Iran’s missile proliferation, and highlighted different weapons systems the US says were sent to proxies, with emphasis on Houthis rebels in Yemen.
He displayed an array of weapons picked up in Afghanistan, Yemen, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, claiming they were of Iranian origin.
If Iran is found to have sent weapons systems to these places, it would be in violation of UN resolutions.
“As the world strives toward peace and security in the Middle East, we are working to reverse advances made by Iran and its proxies over the last several years,” Hook said.
Many of the weapons Hook mentioned were obtained by Saudi Arabia, amid growing criticism in Washington of the US support for the Saudi-led coalition’s operations in the Yemeni civil war.

Op Venezuelanalysis.com werd vorige week woensdag een artikel gepubliceerd over het tekort aan medische apparatuur en medicijnen, daar deze zaken of veel te laat of on het geheel niet worden geleverd door de sancties die de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS Venezuela heeft opgelegd……

Schande, de manier waarop de reguliere media en veel zogenaamde Zuid- en Midden-Amerika deskundigen spreken over Venezuela: de ellende zou aan het beleid van Maduro liggen, terwijl de VS al jaren geleden begon met haar sancties tegen Venezuela…… In eerst instantie nog via de grote supermarkten in Venezuela, veelal in handen van eigenaren in de VS, die onder zware druk werden gezet door de Obama administratie hun winkels in Venezuela niet langer te bevoorraden…….
Nu is er een heel pakket van maatregelen opgetuigd, zo kan Venezuela niet langer beschikken over haar banktegoeden in Zwitserland, Canada, EU en Panama….. Bedrijven die handelen met Venezuela kunnen op maatregelen van wereldpsychopaat VS rekenen….. De VS, het gestolen land dat onbeschaamd denkt haar wet overal en nergens te kunnen laten gelden en dat daadwerkelijk probeert af te dwingen in wat niet andere gezien kan worden dan economische oorlogsvoering……. Daarom is het ook van het allerhoogste belang dat de wereld het SWIFT betalingssysteem laat vallen*, een systeem dat door de VS wordt misbruikt om landen naar de afgrond te dwingen…..
Het is onbegrijpelijk dat men de VS keer op keer laat begaan met haar meer dan schandelijke sancties (ronduit terreur), waardoor eerder al 500.000 kinderen in Irak om het leven kwamen (dat vond de ‘democratische’ oorlogsmisdadiger en psychopaat Albright de zaak meer dan waard….).
Naast Venezuela heeft de VS ook Iran sancties opgelegd, terwijl de rest van de wereld het niet eens is met de VS dat het nucleaire verdrag met Iran verscheurde….. Ook nu durven leden van de Trump administratie, zoals Pompeo te stellen dat deze sancties een groot aantal doden zal gaan ‘opleveren’ in Iran**, maar dat is dan de schuld van de regering in Teheran, ofwel ‘de VS kan haar handen in onschuld wassen’ (maar dan wel in de zwembaden met het bloed van de slachtoffers die de VS zelf heeft vermoord…..)……. De ongelofelijke kromheid van de redenering die Pompeo zich liet ontvallen, meer dan belachelijk!!

Merida, November 14, 2018 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has requested international assistance from the United Nations (UN) and, in particular, the UN Development Program (UNDP), to “break” the US-led economic blockade against the country and help supply vital medical equipment.
His call came at a gathering of health sector leaders and activists from the Humanised Childbirth Program in Caracas Tuesday.
“I ask for support from the UNDP, from the UN system, because as you know the imperialist government of the United States is persecuting and blockading us. If I want to buy some essential equipment somewhere in the world to protect our pregnant women, the US government persecutes us and impedes or delays [the purchase],” he stated. “We have a lot of work to do,” he continued.
His statements come amidst a polarising debate concerning international intervention in Venezuela. Opposition forces, as well as regional right wing governments, have been pushing international organisms to declare a humanitarian crisis in the country as justification for a direct foreign intervention.
Caracas has, however, has coincided with UN experts in denying that such a crisis exists, and claims that any direct foreign intervention is cover for regime change efforts.
For his part, the Maduro government has been open to international cooperation, previously requesting UN medical help, as well as for programs which facilitate the voluntary return of migrants. Caracas has also hosted international programs involving foreign specialists, often including Cuban doctors, Russian economists, or Chinese spacial or telecommunications technicians.
The economic blockade against Venezuela includes US financial sanctions, Swiss, EU, Canadian and Panamanian bank account freezes, trade embargos, unilateral measures against international trade payments, and persecution of foreign firms which trade with Venezuela.
Independent estimates report US $6 billion of lost oil revenue as a result of sanctions, whilst government sources have denounced the freezing of payments of imported medical supplies such as anti-malaria or HIV treatments. The vast majority of Venezuela’s medical supplies and equipment are imported, and thus vulnerable to blockading policies by foreign agents.

Humanised Childbirth Program to be expanded

Despite the difficulties caused by the blockade, the government continues to attempt to expand social welfare in Venezuela, announcing Tuesday that the number of local attention centres of the Humanised Childbirth Programis due to be amplified from 124 to 1,000 within six months. The number of professional program ‘promoters’ will also grow from 10,000 to 30,000 in the same time period.
The program, launched in July 2017, looks to promote natural gestational and birthing practices as well as provide sexual education and support to especially young women. It emerged as a result of an increasing trend in Venezuelan hospitals of doctors forcing pregnant women to undergo caesarean sections, both as a means of generating profits in the private clinics, as well as to avoid the extra workload which could be generated by birthing complications.
At the Caracas gathering, President Maduro indicated that the Humanised Childbirth Program is also to be upgraded to ‘social mission’ status.
Venezuela’s social missions are government run welfare programs. It is expected that they will be given constitutional status in the new magna carta currently being drafted by the Constituent Assembly.

Independent report on women’s rights

The announcements coincided with the publishing of a comprehensive and independent report on female rights in Venezuela, including access to healthcare and sexual and reproductive rights, by the Entrompe de Falopio (Fallopian Tubing) collective.
The report, which indicates that women have suffered disproportionately from the current economic situation, describes the Humanised Childbirth Program as “very valuable.”
It also informs that 20 percent of Venezuelan women under 20 have gone through a pregnancy, as well as 62 percent of women under 25.
The authors identify maternal death rates, backstreet abortion practices, and income-based poverty which restricts access to overpriced medical supplies as on-going problems.

Cuban medical mission enlarged

A day after Maduro requested international assistance from the UNDP, support also arrived from Venezuela’s anti imperialist ally, Cuba, who sent 500 more specialist doctors to the country, Havana based media outlet Granma reports. This latest instalment brings the total number of Cuban doctors based in Venezuela to 21,700.
The doctors, who arrived in planes from the respective Cuban and Venezuelan state airlines, will strengthen both the leadership and base work of the Cuban mission in the country, and comes as part of the health plan approved by Maduro in the recent congress of health workers.
“As always, Cuba will strengthen the work of its brigade with an eye to building a health system envisaged by the commanders of our revolutions [Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez]. Public healthcare is a priority and a bastion of the Bolivarian Revolution and we will defend it side by side with this people,” stated Dr Fernando Gonzalez, head of the Cuban healthcare mission in Venezuela.
The new doctors will, he stated, focus on health promotion and illness prevention and will be spread across the country.
Cuba has played a leading role in the development of Venezuelan public healthcare during the Bolivarian Revolution. Both the ‘Barrio Adentro’ mission, which seeks to bring healthcare to poor and remote communities, as well as the Jose Gregorio Hernandez mission, which designs prosthetic limbs for disabled people, include a large Cuban contingent of doctors who help plan and run the mission.

Oorlogsmisdadiger en fascistische psychopaat Pompeo, momenteel VS minister van buitenlandse zaken, liet vorige week weten dat de sancties tegen Iran, die een ‘regime change’ moeten veroorzaken, een paar miljoen doden waard zijn……. Precies zoals hare kwaadaardigheid en collega fascist van de democraten Albright liet weten dat de 500.000 kinderen die in Irak overleden ten gevolge van de VS sancties tegen dat land in de 90er jaren, het waard zijn geweest……. Wat een enorme rotschoft moet je zijn, als je dergelijke woorden uit de vuilbek durft te laten vallen…….

Ron Paul, een republikein die eerder in het huis van afgevaardigden zat, heeft gehakt gemaakt van de uitspraak die Pompeo deed voor de BBC. Met een aantal vragen geeft hij precies aan waar de schoen wringt en godzijdank noemt hij de ‘situatie’ in Jemen bij de naam: een genocide die uitgevoerd wordt door (met een toevoeging van mij) de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, militair gesteund door de VS….. Een genocide waar de Trump administratie geen seconde van wakker ligt, nee men gaat de Houthi’s die hun burgers proberen te beschermen tegen de terreur van die coalitie, aanmerken als terroristen…..*
De redactie van Money and Markets die een artikel publiceerde geschreven door J.T. Crowe (die ook verantwoordelijk is voor het volgende) over de woorden van Paul, was zo laf om nog even te refereren aan de woorden van de hoogste leider in Iran, waarin deze de VS dreigt met oorlog…… Ofwel Paul kan wel wat zeggen, maar Iran dreigt zelf met oorlog….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Alsof zo’n dreiging ook maar een moment serieus is te nemen, dan nog: de VS voert al een economische oorlog tegen Iran, dat is voor de hele wereld wel duidelijk en je weet het >> wie de bal kaatst……..
Terecht trekt Paul een vergelijking tussen de VS en Iran, waar Iran niet het ene na het andere land in puin gooit in illegaal begonnen oorlogen….. Niet Iran maar de VS steunt de genocide in Jemen en Iran vecht niet in Jemen, zoals de VS wel doet…….. Niet Iran organiseert opstanden elders, maar de VS…… Over de zogenaamde terreur die Iran zou steunen: als er één land is op de wereld dat daadwerkelijk overal en nergens terreur zaait, is het de VS wel, de VS de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, met intussen een onafzienbaar aantal oorlogsmisdaden op haar naam….**

Retired Libertarian and Republican Congressman Ron Paul is asking a question in his weekly column about the Trump administration’s ‘neoconservative’ policy regarding how to handle the situation with Iran: Is it normal?
Some context, per the Ron Paul Institute:

It’s not often that US Government officials are honest when they talk about our foreign policy. The unprovoked 2003 attack on Iraq was called a “liberation.” The 2011 US-led destruction of Libya was a “humanitarian intervention.” And so on.

So, in a way, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was refreshingly honest last week when, speaking about newly-imposed US sanctions, he told the BBC that the Iranian leadership “has to make a decision that they want their people to eat.” It was an honest admission that new US sanctions are designed to starve Iranians unless the Iranian leadership accepts US demands.

His statement also reveals the lengths to which the neocons are willing to go to get their “regime change” in Iran. Just like then-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said it was “worth it” that half a million Iraqi children died because of our sanctions on that country, Pompeo is letting us know that a few million dead Iranians is also “worth it” if the government in Tehran can be overthrown.

Paul notes that the U.S. Secretary of State has demanded that Iran “act like a normal country.” Iran essentially threatened war against the U.S. over the sanctions, but does that mean the citizens of Iran have to suffer, Paul asks, and is that normal?

Is it normal to threaten millions of people with starvation if their leaders refuse to bow down to US demands? Is the neoconservative obsession with regime change “normal” behavior? Is training and arming al-Qaeda in Syria to overthrow Assad “normal” behavior? If so, then perhaps Washington’s neocons have a point. As Iran is not imposing sanctions, is not invading its neighbors, is not threatening to starve millions of Americans unless Washington is “regime-changed,” perhaps Iran is not acting “normal.”

It all depends on what your definition of “normal” is, Paul says.

The continued Saudi genocide in Yemen does not bother Washington a bit. In fact, Saudi aggression in Yemen is viewed as just another opportunity to strike out at Iran. By making phony claims that Yemen’s Houthis are “Iran-backed,” the US government justifies literally handing the Saudis the bombs to drop on Yemeni school buses while claiming it is fighting Iranian-backed terrorism! Is that “normal”?

Millions of Yemenis face starvation after three years of Saudi attacks have destroyed the economy and a Saudi blockade prohibits aid from reaching the suffering victims, but Secretary Pompeo recently blamed Yemeni starvation on, you guessed it: Iran!

And in a shocking display of cynicism, the US government is reportedly considering listing Yemen’s Houthis as a “terrorist” organization for the “crime” of fighting back against Saudi (and US) aggression. Labeling the Yemeni resistance a “terrorist” organization would effectively “legalize” the ongoing Saudi destruction of Yemen, as it could be justified as just another battle in the “war on terror.” It would also falsely identify the real culprits in the Yemen tragedy as Iran, which is repeatedly and falsely called the “number one sponsor of terrorism” by Pompeo and the rest of the Trump Administration neocons.

So yes, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told one wicked truth last week. But before he demands that countries like Iran start acting “normal” or face starvation, perhaps he should look in the mirror. Are Pompeo and the neocons “normal”? I don’t think so.

De VS is bezig om binnenkort nog meer sancties op te leggen aan Iran, het gaat nu niet alleen meer om de Iran deal, maar om een verandering van regering, althans anders zijn de VS sancties niet uit te leggen…….

Het meest schunnige is wel dat de VS de Iraanse autoriteiten verwijdt haar volk te terroriseren, terwijl je daar maar één ‘land’ van kan beschuldigen, de grootste terreurentiteit op onze aarde, de VS zelf!!!

De psychopathische oorlogsmisdadiger Mattis en anderen verdraaien de werkelijkheid op zo’n belachelijk grove schaal dat het net lijkt of Iran haar eigen burgers laat sterven, terwijl de VS de werkelijke dader is……..

Zelfs levensreddende medicijnen zijn nu moeilijk te krijgen in Iran, het is werkelijk om te janken als je de voorbeelden leest in het hieronder opgenomen artikel, geschreven door Caitlin Johnstone.

Hoe is het mogelijk dat EU landen de VS niet al lang in de VN Veiligheidsraad hebben aangeklaagd voor grootschalige terreur??? En hoe is het mogelijk dat de EU Iran niet te hulp snelt……….

Het is te hopen dat het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) ten minste de enorme oorlogsmisdaden inventariseert die werden en worden begaan door de VS en onder die oorlogsmisdaden reken ik tegenwoordig ook de economische oorlogsvoering van de VS tegen landen die haar onwelgevallig zijn, zoals Iran, Venezuela en Nicaragua……… Sancties die in feite nooit de leiding van het betreffende land schaden, maar het volk van dat land, waarmee je deze sancties rustig als misdaad tegen de menselijkheid kan duiden, of zoals gezegd oorlogsmisdaden…….

De hoogste tijd dat de internationale gemeenschap de VS opdraagt haar troepen overal ter wereld terug te trekken, het barbaarse neokoloniale beleid van de VS moet gestopt worden! Bovendien dient men als de sodemieter af te stappen van de dollar als internationaal betaalmiddel (als de VS er financieel zo voor had gestaan, maar dan in de 20er jaren van de vorige eeuw, had men daar, net als destijds in Duitsland, bij wijze van spreken een kruiwagen vol met papiergeld nodig gehad om een brood te kopen…..).

De oorzaak van dat niet ingrijpen en bijvoorbeeld wel terechte sancties op te leggen aan de VS, is puur en alleen te danken aan het feit dat de dollar als internationaal betaalmiddel wordt gebruikt, terwijl de VS in feite meer dan failliet is >> de staatsschuld van de VS is niet meer in cijfers weer te geven……. Vandaar ook dat ons financiële systeem zal instorten als de dollar echt volledig onderuitgaat, iets dat welhaast niet is te voorkomen…… (ondanks dat men dit weet, worden er geen maatregelen genomen, alsof het om een konijn gaat dat in het koplicht van een aanstormende auto verstijft….)

(CJ Opinion) — The United States government is preparing to implement an additional level of sanctions against Iran for its refusal to meet a dozen demands that are so absurdly unreasonable that they have been called a regime change policy in all but name. The sanctions which have already been implemented have already badly hurt the Iranian economy, the sting of which is being felt first and foremost by Iran’s poor and sickly.
In an article titled “Iran’s poor to bear brunt of Trump’s oil sanctions”, Financial Times documents how poor Iranians are already strained to the breaking point from the cutbacks they’ve had to make in food and groceries. An article titled “In Iran, US sanctions are being felt, with harsher measures to come” by the Christian Science Monitor details difficulties Iranian charities are having getting medicine to sick children, including chemotherapy treatment, having already run out of four life-saving drugs. In an article titled “US fails to shield humanitarian trade with Iran as sanctions loom”, Al Monitor details the way humanitarian aid, while ostensibly exempt from the sanctions, has been severely impacted by their economic aspect because humanitarian aid costs money. The Wall Street Journal further explains the effects of America’s economic warfare on ordinary Iranian civilians in an article titled “Iran Moves to Shelter Millions as U.S. Sanctions Bite”.
This is before the US implements a new level of attacks upon Iran’s oil industry, a primary economic lifeline, which is scheduled to begin on November fifth. If Iran can’t find a way to get around these crushing sanctions in a significant way, many civilians already stretched far too thin will be pushed past the breaking point.
And who is the US government blaming for the consequences of its economic warfare? Why, the Iranian government, of course.

Pompeo talks about the Iranian people a lot. A recent State Department release is packed with lines like “Iran’s actions have made the country a pariah, much to the despair of its own people”, and “clerics and officials have wrapped themselves in the cloak of religion while robbing the Iranian people blind,” and “The United States is asking every nation that is sick and tired of the Islamic Republic’s destructive behavior to stand up for the Iranian people.” But Mike Pompeo does not care about the Iranian people. Plainly.
Sanctions are so weird. Imagine if the US government had listed twelve ridiculously extreme demands of Tehran, and then when those demands weren’t met they launched a few dozen Tomahawk missiles into an Iranian suburb. And imagine, if you will, what the response would be if Secretary Pompeo had then issued a tweet saying “Boy, it sure was awful of the Iranian regime to launch those missiles at its own civilians!”
He would never do such a thing, of course, because nobody would buy it. But for some weird, entirely narrative-based reason, the US government can get away with killing the same number of civilians by depriving them of food and medicine and say it’s Iran’s fault for not bowing to Washington’s twelve demands. The civilians would be just as dead as they would have been if they were killed by Tomahawk missiles, and the US government would be just as culpable for their deaths as they would have been if they’d killed them by missile strike. We can be absolutely certain that the US government would acknowledge such economic sanctions as an act of war (which they unquestionably are) if any foreign nation ever implemented anything similar against America. But for some weird, stupid, nonsense reason, the medieval siege tactic of starving them to death and cutting them off from supplies is something that can still be blamed on a sovereign nation for refusing to obey the commands of a foreign government. For some weird, stupid, nonsense reason, sanctions are the only form of warfare where it is considered both legal and acceptable to deliberately target a civilian population with lethal force.

The responses to this Tweet caught me off guard. Thank you for the kind words. But now I feel selfish for writing it. I didn’t want or expect sympathy; I wanted to make a point about the impact of sanctions on Iran — that it’s the ordinary people who suffer. And for what?

This, by the way, is all coming after the UN’s highest court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), ordered the United States to remove any impediments to humanitarian aide in the sanctions that it has implemented, to which Washington responded by withdrawing from two international agreements which could lead to any legally binding rulings by the ICJ. Any other nation which refuses to comply with UN rulings is branded a rogue nation by the US-centralized empire and targeted for regime change, but when the US does exactly the same thing we’re meant to look at it as perfectly normal and acceptable.
The US has defended its dismissal of the ICJ ruling by citing the exemptions it has made for humanitarian aide in its sanctions, with Secretary Pompeo asserting the following:
“Existing exceptions, authorizations, and licensing policies for humanitarian-related transactions and safety of flight will remain in effect. The United States has been actively engaged on these issues without regard to any proceeding before the ICJ. We’re working closely with the Department of the Treasury to ensure that certain humanitarian-related transactions involving Iran can and will continue.”
“Not only is he not being accurate, he is lying,” Trita Parsi of the National Iranian American Council told the Real News of Pompeo’s remarks. “The Trump administration has not issued a single license since they took power. They know quite well that they’re doing everything to scare banks away from the Iranian market, which then is affecting the ability for the Iranians to pay for medicine and medical supplies, even though that is supposedly exempt. So essentially what they’re saying, hey, we made those exempt. Yes, but you have targeted the financial system so harshly, so indiscriminately, so no bank is willing to handle transactions with Iranian banks. And as a result the Iranians cannot buy medical supplies, and their medical shortages are a direct result of the sanctions.”
What will Secretary Pompeo say when civilians begin dropping dead? Will he claim that “the price is worth it”, as his predecessor Madeleine Albright said of the thousands of Iraqi children killed in sanctions upon Iraq? Will he cite the constantly recurring lie that it is because Iran is the world’s top sponsor of terrorism? Will he claim that it is because it is somehow wrong for Iran to defend its ally Syria from the violent jihadist factions who attempted to effect regime change in Damascus with western backing? Or will he just be honest, and admit that it’s because Iran has one of the few governments in the strategically crucial and resource-rich Middle East which has refused to be absorbed into the blob of the US empire?

Jemen: VS politici roepen uiterst hypocriet om een onmiddellijk eind aan de ‘oorlog……’

De gekte van VS politici is al lang niet meer te meten, echter als je dacht daarover alles wel gezien en gehoord te hebben, weten die politici je altijd weer te verrassen met zaken waar je of steil van achterover slaat, dan wel je in een lachstuip doen belanden, een lachstuip waar je een kwartier voor nodig hebt om een beetje bij te komen. Dat laatste overkwam mij vanmorgen toen ik de kop las van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, geschreven door Ahmed AbdulKareem, eerder gepubliceerd op MintPress News.
De kop luidt: ‘US Officials Unexpectedly Call for Immediate End to War in Yemen’, ofwel: onverwacht roepen VS politici om het onmiddellijk beëindigen van de oorlog in Jemen…..
Terwijl diezelfde politici verantwoordelijk zijn voor de genocide die nu al een paar jaar lang plaatsvindt in Jemen en die een eind heeft gemaakt aan het leven van rond de 200.000 Jemenieten…… VS politici, zoals ‘mad dog’ Mattis, een psychopathische oorlogsmisdadiger, die roepen om een eind aan de oorlog in Jemen, (nogmaals) terwijl die oorlog, of beter gezegd genocide alleen mogelijk werd en wordt mogelijk gemaakt door directe VS bemoeienis……*
Als de VS stopt met het in de lucht aftanken van straaljagers en bommenwerpers van de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, zijn die bombardementen al veel minder effectief en in een aantal gevallen bijna onmogelijk.
De VS doet bovendien de coördinatie van de bombardementen, waarmee de VS één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken is voor het bombarderen van: -ziekenhuizen, -waterbedrijven, -waterzuiveringsinstallaties, -scholen, -hele huizenblokken, -energiecentrales, -infrastructuur, inclusief het rioleringssysteem……. Allen zware oorlogsmisdaden, waar de laatst genoemde, het rioleringssysteem al in 2016 zorgde voor een cholera-uitbraak, een uitbraak die nog dagelijks velen het leven kost….. Een paar maanden geleden heeft de Saoedische terreurcoalitie o.l.v. de VS, een net opgeleverd ziekenhuis van Artsen Zonder Grenzen (MSF) vernietigd, een ziekenhuis speciaal voor de behandeling van cholera…….

Voorts levert de VS wapens, munitie (inclusief clusterbommen), militaire hardware, dus rollend, varend en vliegend oorlogstuig aan Saoedi-Arabië, een zaak waaraan ook Groot-Brittannië zich schuldig maakt……. Als GB traint de VS ook nog eens Saoedische militairen en helpt het mee aan de zeeblokkade, waardoor humanitaire hulpgoederen maar mondjesmaat de zo geterroriseerde bevolking van Jemen bereiken…….

Gezien het voorgaande is het dan ook overduidelijk dat Saoedische terreurcoalitie, onder leiding van de VS, bezig is met het uitvoeren van een genocide op de sjiitische inwoners van Jemen……
Als de VS een eind aan de genocide in Jemen wil maken, moet het onmiddellijk ophouden met haar steun voor de Saoedische terreurcoalitie in deze meer dan smerige oorlog, of beter gezegd: ‘genocide……’ Een genocide die tot de dag van vandaag rond de 200.000 slachtoffers heeft gemaakt en nog steeds nieuwe slachtoffers maakt, dag in dag uit…..*
Intussen heeft de Saoedische terreurcoalitie een nieuwe aanval met bombardementen ingezet op de hoofdstad van Jemen**, ‘vreemd genoeg’ weer met hulp van de VS, dit door de het aftanken van het moorddadig oorlogstuig in de lucht en de coördinatie van die bombardementen…….

En dan hebben figuren als Mattis het gore lef voor de ‘wereldbühne’ te zeggen dat er onmiddellijk een eind aan ‘de oorlog’ moet komen……

US Officials Unexpectedly Call for Immediate End to War in Yemen

(MPN) — Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the head of Ansar Allah’s Supreme Revolutionary Committee, welcomed U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis’ recent remarks urging an end to the three-year-long Saudi-led war in Yemen. In a tweet, Al-Houthi urged Mattis to announce an immediate end to the war, as well as to the Saudi coalition’s blockade that has triggered a famine in the world’s poorest nation.
Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthis) and its allies have been receptive to previous initiatives to end the war, which has killed tens of thousands of civilians. Al-Houthi stressed on Wednesday that any initiative would be welcomed so long as it does not undermine Yemen’s independence and sovereignty.
Dr. Yaser al-Houri, Secretary of the Supreme Political Council, the highest political authority in Sana’a, told MintPress:

“We welcome any call for peace that will end the war and we will deal responsibly with any future peace talks under the umbrella of the United Nations.”

United Nations Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths called on Wednesday for all concerned parties to engage constructively with UN efforts to resume political consultations and to agree on a framework for political negotiations. The United Nations says it hopes to resume Yemen peace talks within a month.
The UN call comes a day after Mattis’ urgent call. Mattis said, during a discussion on Tuesday at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were ready for talks:

“We have got to move toward a peace effort here, and we can’t say we are going to do it sometime in the future. We need to be doing this in the next 30 days.”

France’s Defence Minister Florence Parly also called for an end to the war in Yemen on Tuesday, saying:

“It is more than time that this war ended and it is also important — even France’s priority — that the humanitarian situation must improve and that humanitarian aid can get through.”

Numerous previous negotiations between Yemen’s Ansar Allah and the Saudi coalition, backed by the United States and other Western powers, have broken down, but the new announcement is giving hope to Yemenis that the United States will pressure its Gulf Arab allies to agree to halt their deadly campaign of airstrikes in Yemen, which often target civilians.
As US calls for peace, Saudi-led coalition sends thousands of fighters to Hodeida
Although Mattis’ call was later echoed by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who said that the time is now for the cessation of hostilities, the Saudi coalition sent 10,000 new troops, mostly Sudanese mercenaries, to Yemen’s Red Sea coast, ahead of a new offensive on Hodeida expected to take place in coming days.
A source inside of Yemen’s Houthi-aligned military told MintPress that recent statements could be a prelude to a new escalation in Hodeida, confirming that the military has intelligence from the field that the coalition is preparing a massive offensive in a bid to finally seize control of the port of Hodeida within next 30 days.
Houthi officials have reacted to Washington’s newly expressed urgings with careful optimism,
welcoming the prospect for peace, but wary of an ulterior motive for the sudden shift in U.S. policy.
Mohammed al-Bakhiiti, a member of Ansar Allah’s Political Council, commented on the recent statements by U.S. officials, saying “peace would return to Yemen if the U.S. ended its war on the country,” adding, “the only solution to the crisis is intra-Yemeni talks and non-interference by foreign parties.”
Yemen’s Foreign Minister, Hesham Sharef in Sanaa, stressed that the fact that the U.S. expressed desire for a political resolution through its Pentagon chief confirms that Washington views Yemen from a military perspective: “There would have been no war in Yemen had not there been U.S. and British support for Saudi Arabia.”
Commenting on a potential U.S. role in resolving the conflict in Yemen, a high-ranking source of the Houthis told MintPress, “Washington could not play the role of mediator while it is a party involved in the military campaign against the country.”
Houthis reject the prospect of balkanization
The U.S. has expressed a desire to rely upon the often practiced and rarely successful strategy of breaking a nation into multiple enclaves based on ethnicity and political affiliation. The process, known as balkanization, has been implemented with disastrous results in Syria, Sudan and elsewhere.
Mattis said on Tuesday that he wants a political resolution in Yemen to include a clause that will give local autonomy to the Houthis, but many Yemeni parties, including Ansar Allah, described the remarks as an intervention and a violation of Yemen’s sovereignty.
Abdulmalik Al-Ajri, who is close to Ansar Allah’s leader and is a member of the Political Bureau of the movement, responded to Mattis: “We [Houthis] as part of the national makeup of the Yemeni People are present in most areas of Yemen,” adding, “Mattis’ point of view does not represent the vision of Ansar Allah or any other political forces.”
Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Ansar Allah, based in Yemen’s capital Sana’a, also criticized remarks by Mattis about the need for the establishment of a semi-autonomous region in Yemen, saying Washington’s proposed solution for Yemen included dividing the country.
The question of ballistic missiles
In his recent comments, Mattis also made statements implying a need to destroy Yemen’s domestic ballistic missile program and demilitarize the border between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, a move strongly rejected by Yemen’s resistance.
Responding to Mattis’ statements, Yemen’s foreign minister said that Yemenis are defending their motherland and will not allow their sovereignty to be undermined in any way, adding:

“Our missiles are meant to safeguard Yemen’s security. We did not attack anyone prior to the onset of the Saudi-led military aggression.”

The official spokesman of Ansar Allah, Mohammed Abdul Salam, confirmed in July that Yemen’s domestic weapons arsenal, the quality and sophistication of which continue to grow, is needed for deterrence, including ballistic missiles. He went on to say that they are the property of the Yemeni people and, upon reaching a political settlement, will return to an army representing all Yemenis.
High-ranking officials in the Houthi movement told MintPress that should a political settlement be reached, these weapons will be exclusive to a national army representing all Yemenis. Yemen’s officials and citizens alike consider the domestic missile program a vital component of national defense against the Saudi coalition, which is equipped with the latest high-tech, U.S.-supplied weapons.

Overigens worden de Houthi’s ook aangeduid als ‘Ansar Allah’.

Scott Ritter, voormalig VN-wapeninspecteur: Iran verdient de eer voor het verslaan van ISIS

In het hieronder opgenomen artikel, geschreven door voormalig VN-wapeninspecteur Scott Ritter en eerder gepubliceerd op The American Conservative, stelt hij dat niet de VS, maar vooral Iran de eer toekomt van het verslaan van IS in zowel Irak als Syrië…..
Ritter verhaalt over het ontstaan van IS en alle daarbij behorende gore spelletjes van de VS, waarbij hij de VS in feite beschuldigt van het beschermen van en samenwerken met IS, al was het alleen om Assad af te kunnen zetten en nu als stok tegen Iran te gebruiken…….. Intussen heeft IS al een paar aanslagen gepleegd in Iran (met de hulp van de CIA). Over de CIA gesproken: de VS heeft toegegeven dat het al jaren bezig is om de oppositie in Iran te steunen en op te zetten tegen de regering……. Zo zijn ook de zogenaamde opstanden die de laatste jaren in Iran plaatsvonden (uiterst gewelddadige ‘opstanden’), georganiseerd door de CIA…..
Scott Ritter was VN-wapeninspecteur voorafgaand aan de illegale oorlog van de VS tegen Irak in 2003. Keer op keer liet hij de VN, de reguliere (massa-) media en politici weten dat Irak niet langer de beschikking had over ‘massavernietigingswapens en dat dit uit en te na was onderzocht door hem en z’n team, waarbij Ritter uiteindelijk zijn gelijk haalde….. Lullig genoeg haalde hij z’n gelijk, pas lang nadat de VS Irak aanviel….* Deze illegale oorlog van de VS betekende de dood van meer dan nu al 1,5 miljoen mensen (in feite is de oorlog in Irak nog steeds gaande….)….. Ach ja, de VS: de grootste terreurentiteit op onze kleine aarde…….

Until recently the United States viewed the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, as a major threat to regional stability in the Middle East. Barack Obama made it a mission to roll back ISIS’s territorial and propagandistic gain, and Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to “kick ISIS’s ass.” The United States expended considerable effort, both military and political, in a campaign to defeat the terror group in Iraq and, to a lesser extent, in Syria.
But there is also no doubt that the bulk of the effort came from Iran, not the United States. Without Iranian involvement, ISIS would still have a formidable presence in both Iraq and Syria.
ISIS was born out of the ashes of the American invasion of Iraq. Their rise was the logical extension of a process that saw the fabric of secular Sunni society torn asunder by an American occupier unwilling to further empower a Sunni ruling elite that had been loyal to Saddam Hussein. Washington failed to understand the resentment engendered within the Sunni community when Iraq’s Shia, some of whom were beholden to Iran, came to power.
Traditional Sunni tribal power structures were eviscerated as a result, only to be replaced with radicalized Sunni youths beholden to only themselves. Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) was al-Qaeda in name only—its mission wasn’t to export jihad to the West, but to free Iraq from the grips of an American and Iranian occupation.
America’s campaign against AQI never resulted in that movement’s destruction. Instead, the United States, in an effort to free itself of the burden of war created when it invaded Iraq in the first place, withdrew from Iraq in 2012, leaving the final phase of AQI’s destruction in the hands of the Iraqi government. This period coincided with the start of the civil unrest in Syria and the creation of a radicalized Islamist opposition to Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad. The willingness to cede large swaths of Syrian territory to Islamist forces as a means of destabilizing Assad created the conditions for the birth of ISIS in the deserts of both central Syria and western Iraq.
When ISIS advanced on the Iraqi cities of Ramadi and Fallujah, the American-trained and -equipped Iraqi army was unable to halt its advance. Soon the major city of Mosul fell to ISIS, and its forces pushed down the Tigris River valley to the outskirts of Baghdad.
The story of Iraq’s struggle to form a viable resistance to ISIS in the aftermath of the fall of Mosul is little known, and even less appreciated, by the United States. The formation of so-called “Popular Mobilization Forces,” or PMF—organized at the behest of Iraq’s senior Shia leadership, and trained, equipped, and led by Iran—was the single most important factor behind the halting of ISIS’s drive on Baghdad and its eventual eviction from Iraqi territory.
Western media have paid a disproportionate amount of attention to the actions of a select few American-trained Iraqi security forces, which, with ample support from U.S. airpower and advisors, helped end fighting in and around Mosul. All the while, they’ve ignored that the lion’s share of the fighting was done by the Iranian-directed PMF. This fact was not lost on the Iraqi people, many of whom (though not many of the Sunnis) hold the PMF in the highest regard. This sentiment has propelled many of the senior leadership of the PMF into political prominence in Baghdad.
For Iran, the ISIS phenomenon is not limited to Iraq. It is seen as part and parcel of a concerted effort undertaken by the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf Arab nations to overthrow Assad in Syria, diminish the power and influence of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and roll back Iranian influence in both Syria and Iraq. ISIS’s geographic presence in Syria, concentrated as it was in the central and northeastern deserts, made it a secondary target compared to the al-Qaeda affiliates operating in and around Aleppo and Damascus.
As the Syrian government, with the assistance of Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah, gained the upper hand in the fight against the American- and Saudi-backed al-Qaeda groups, however, the importance of ISIS as a source of anti-regime resistance grew. While ISIS never had the power to challenge Damascus directly, the efforts undertaken by the Syrian coalition to defeat ISIS diverted resources needed in the larger fight. As such, the continued existence of a viable ISIS presence on Syrian soil was deemed an acceptable outcome by the United States as it sought to contain Iran’s presence on Syrian soil.
ISIS in Syria lingers on, despite the fact that U.S. military power could ensure its almost immediate elimination. The reason for the stay of execution is not entirely clear, but it could well be that the U.S. sees ISIS as a useful foil against Iran. Efforts by the United States to roll back Iran’s presence inside Syria have recently become more volatile in the wake of fiery rhetoric from senior Trump administration officials and actions undertaken by Iran to harden their positions. The American policy of Iranian rollback includes the re-imposition of economic sanctions and support for opposition groups opposed to the Iranian theocracy.
The latter point is very sensitive. This sensitivity has only been heightened by remarks from Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman suggesting that any struggle for influence between Riyadh and Tehran ought to take place “inside Iran, not in Saudi Arabia,” and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s encouraging Iranian Arab minorities to rise up in opposition to the Iranian government.
When gunmen linked to ISIS attacked a military parade in the Iranian city of Ahvaz, killing and wounding dozens, the Iranian government was quick to blame the United States and Saudi Arabia, among others, and promise retaliation in kind. This prompted National Security Advisor John Bolton to declare to Iran that “there will indeed be hell to pay” if Iran or its proxies attacked the U.S. or its allies.
A few days later, Iranian rockets were launched, not against American targets in Basra, but locations in Syria linked to ISIS. While the Iranian strike was in clear retaliation for the Ahvaz attack, the rockets were emblazoned with slogans hostile to the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. This made it clear that the strike was meant for a broader audience. Among those who took notice were the American forces located a mere three miles away from the targets struck by the Iranians.
Rising tensions and strong rhetoric, if not carefully managed, could easily lead to an unintended—and dangerous—escalation of hostilities. This could test President Donald Trump’s uncertain appetite for direct conflict. Moreover, the American effort to stir up an Iranian opposition could do more to unite competing power factions within Iran’s leadership, and unite Iranians behind that leadership, than to divide and weaken the Iranian polity. The Trump administration seems to operate under the delusion that Iran’s president, Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, are operating in different spheres with somewhat disparate interests. U.S. efforts to drive a wedge between Rouhani and Khamenei will not only prove fruitless, but backfire, closing the door to any potential negotiations and cementing a hardline response that will have Rouhani, the IRGC, and the supreme leader united in their opposition.
The United States is engaged in a dangerous double game with ISIS that is not only hypocritical in the extreme—given the 9/11 attacks on American soil that precipitated this whole sorry affair—but counterproductive to American national security interests. It has both empowered and legitimized the very Iranian theocracy it seeks to contain.
Rather than relying on ISIS as a foil to blunt Iranian influence in Syria and terrorize its citizenry at home, the Trump administration should recognize the positive role that Iran has played in defeating ISIS. It should build upon that recognition to craft a wider regional peace process that both recognizes the realities inherent in Syria today and reduces the tensions that prompt Iran to lean forward in such an aggressive manner. Unfortunately, such thinking seems beyond the capabilities of Mike Pompeo and John Bolton. As such, America will continue to pursue poorly thought out policies with no chance of success without any thought to either cost or consequence.

Ook Nederlandse F16’s hebben lang steun verleend aan deze vuile oorlog, wat zeg ik: Nederland verleent nog steeds steun aan die oorlog met F16’s en met het trainen van het Iraakse leger……
