Toevoeging op 27 juli 2018: vanmorgen werd bekend gemaakt dat Ahed al-Tamimi morgen, na meer dan een half jaar, eindelijk zal worden vrijgelaten! Ahed werd uiteindelijk 2 dagen later vrijgelaten op 29 juli 2018 en dus niet op 28 juli.

Israël nu officieel fascistische apartheidsstaat: natiestaat wet aangenomen………

Israël is al jaren een fascistische apartheidsstaat (en nog een uiterst
gewelddadige ook), e.e.a. is nu vervat in wetgeving, met het
aannemen van een natiestaat wet……. 

Het
was al zo dat Israëlische arabieren (lees: Palestijnen die in 1948 niet werden verjaagd van hun grond en/of uit hun huis) in veel steden en
dorpen niet welkom waren, met deze wet is deze apartheidsmaatregel in
feite geïnstitutionaliseerd……..

Ook
de officiële taal is vanaf nu Hebreeuws……. Voorts mogen
straks ook LGBT personen geweigerd worden in dorpen waar
uitspuitend zionistische (ofwel: fascistische) joden wonen…..

Er
werd gisteren internationaal veel gesproken over deze wetgeving en
lullig genoeg had niemand in de reguliere media het lef te zeggen waar het op staat: Israël
is nu officieel een fascistische apartheidsstaat….. Veel gedraai
rond de pispot, maar te laf om de mond open te trekken en deze
fascistische wetgeving keihard te veroordelen…….

Voorts
zal de Israëlische regering met deze wetgeving het stichten van joodse nederzettingen
(in illegaal bezet gebied op de West Bank) promoten en
steunen…….. En dan durven de westerse politici te zeggen dat men
geen commentaar wil leveren op Israël om de ‘vredesonderhandelingen’ niet te
frustreren……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Op Radio1 was gisteren een vertegenwoordiger van Human Rights Watch (HRW) te horen, deze Jan Kooy* stelde in feite dat je nog niet kan spreken van apartheid in Israël en er zelfs nog sprake is van democratie…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Wat een ongelofelijk slappe zak, als je niet van apartheid kan spreken in Israël, wanneer kan je daar dan wel over spreken????? (niet meer doneren aan deze waardeloze organisatie mensen!)

Beste bezoeker,
van onze politieke partijen moeten we het niet hebben, de meeste vertegenwoordigers daarvan zullen Israël zelfs
nog steunen als ze voor de Palestijnen concentratiekampen zouden inrichten……. Laten we daarom bewegingen als BDS** steunen en alle producten uit Israël boycotten en
producten waar de oorsprong niet op terug te vinden is, niet langer kopen!! 

We
hebben intussen al te veel fascistische staten (beter: ‘nazi-staten’) gehad en lullig genoeg hebben we die nog steeds, tijd voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) haar werk een
keer te doen en de leiders van Israël veroordeelt waarvoor ze
staan: 

  • massamoorden 
  • martelingen, 
  • oorlogsmisdaden
  • het stelen van land
  • het vasthouden van volwassenen en kinderen, zonder een vorm van berechting (al stelt de rechtspraak in Israël niets voor…)
  • discriminatie van Palestijnen en Druzen
  • grootschender van mensen- en kinderrechten
  • het illegaal bezet houden van
    land, het vernietigen van enorm veel onroerend goed, zelfs als het
    betreffende pand bijvoorbeeld nog wordt bewoond
  • het collectief
    straffen van Palestijnse families, als een wanhopige familielid bijvoorbeeld een Israëlische psychopathische soldaat aanvalt dan wel vermoord, een manier van straffen die NB door de SS werd
    vervolmaakt tijdens WOII……..

Israel
Passes ‘Nation State’ Law Enshrining Jewish Supremacy

(MEE) — Israel passed
a law on Thursday giving Jews supremacy over all non-Jewish Israeli
citizens, which critics and members of the state’s Palestinian
minority called racist, likening the legislation to apartheid.

The
“Nation State” law passed by a vote of 62-55 and two abstentions
in the 120-member parliament after months of political argument.
Following the vote Palestinian lawmakers shouted and tore up papers.

Parliament
Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein called on security to eject the
Palestinian MPs, who were led out crying “You are racist”.

“This
is a defining moment in the annals of Zionism and the history of the
state of Israel,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the
Knesset, Israel’s parliament, after the vote.

Hassan
Jabareen, general director of Adalah, the Legal Centre for Arab
Minority Rights in Israel (LCAMRI) , said the law features key elements of
apartheid, which he said “is not only immoral but also absolutely
prohibited under international law”.

“The
new law constitutionally enshrines the identity of Israel as the
nation-state of the Jewish people only – despite the 1.5 million
Palestinian citizens of the state and residents of East Jerusalem and
the Golan Heights – and guarantees the exclusive ethnic-religious
character of Israel as Jewish,” he said.

“By
defining sovereignty and democratic self-rule as belonging solely to
the Jewish people – wherever they live around the world – Israel
has made discrimination a constitutional value and has professed its
commitment to favoring Jewish supremacy as the bedrock of its
institutions.”

Mazin
Qumsiyya, a writer and activist, told Middle East Eye that Israel was
moving down a dark path.

“Colonial
settler states like Israel move towards more and more extremism
before they arrive at one of the three known outcomes of colonialism:
the Algerian outcome (a two-tiered ethnic system), the Australian/USA
outcome (genocide of natives), or the rest of the world model
(coexistance in one pluralistic state),” he said.

“The
Nation State law is written mostly for self-validation by racists who
know the third outcome is inevitably arriving soon.”

Two
Tiers

Less
than 500 words long, the Nation State law accords exclusive “national
self-determination” rights – the right to decide Israel’s
national priorities, of both symbolic and practical importance – to
Jewish people, wherever they may live, in Israel or abroad, and
whether or not they even hold Israeli citizenship.

The
law does not, notably, say that Palestinian and other non-Jewish
citizens of Israel are entitled to equal treatment under the law.

The
law also gives Hebrew superior status over Arabic, making the former
the state’s only official language and demoting the latter to
merely a language with a “special status”.

In
effect, the Nation State law, which as a basic law holds
constitutional power, means Israel’s ethno-religious character
supersedes its democratic one.

The
bill has been criticised by Palestinian citizens of Israel, liberal
Jewish Israelis, Israel’s president and rights groups, some of whom
have said the law would amount to apartheid.

“Twenty
percent of the citizens will be discriminated against, by definition.
What is that if not apartheid? This is racist and unprecedented
legislation from a government that has lost all shame,” tweeted
Joint List party chair Ayman Odeh earlier in the week, anticipating
the law’s passage.

“This
is a mortal wound for Arab citizens [of Israel], and for democracy,
no less.”

Fellow
Joint List lawmaker, Aida Touma-Suleiman, slammed the bill, saying it
would “establish Jewish supremacy” and “wipe the word
‘equality’ from the political lexicon in the State of Israel.”

The
Palestinian members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, were
joined by Jewish liberal lawmakers and about 2,500 demonstrators
on Saturday night, in a march through the main streets of downtown
Tel Aviv to protest the bill.

Rights
groups say Israel has been discriminating against its non-Jewish
citizens ever since the state was founded in 1948, pointing to dozens
of Israeli laws that mandate preferential treatment to Jews.

However,
the law will have greater, more lasting impact as it enshrines a
two-tiered system of rights in a basic law.

Coalition
Concessions

While
Netanyahu’s government has ignored the protests of Palestinian
parliamentarians and left-leaning Zionist lawmakers, it altered the
law’s language in recent weeks in order to secure common ground
between the centre-right and far-right factions of the cabinet.

The
far-right religious bloc insisted on altering a clause committing the
government to “strengthen the affinity between the state and the
Jewish people,” ensuring that it would only apply to foreign Jews.
The religious parties feared that if, as in its original language,
the bill applied to Israeli Jews as well, it would legitimate liberal
streams of the Jewish religion, and weaken their own monopoly on
issues of synagogue and state.

The
centre-right members of Netanyahu’s coalition government worried
that, were the law to include language which could be easily
understood as enshrining racial discrimination into law, it could
further sour Israel’s relations with the world’s western
democracies, who are still its most important international allies
and largest trading partners.

One
clause in particluar, 7b, had attracted much concern from Israel’s
allies and even its presidnet, Reuven Rivlin.

Clause
7b would have allowed Jewish-only communities, and said the
“state can allow a community composed of people of the same faith
or nationality to maintain an exclusive community”.

Rivlin
condemned the clause, saying it would “allow any community to
establish residential communities that exclude Sephardic Jews,
Ultra-Orthodox people, Druze, LGBT people”.

Under
such pressure and encouraged by the centre right, 7b was removed,
with the article concerning Jewish settlement changed to: “The
state views the development of Jewish settlement as a national value
and will act to encourage and promote its establishment and
consolidation” – mandating state support for Jewish-only
communities.

However,
MK Dov Khenin from the Joint List indicated that the new wording,
which was drafted by ultra-nationalist Naftali Bennet, is even worse
than the original.

“While
the earlier wording pretended to be neutral, stating that separate
communities were possible for each group, now the cat is out of the
bag and it’s stating explicitly that only Jewish communities will
get priority,” he said.

“This
is a model of undisguised racism, suited only to corrupt rulers who
have lost all shame.”

Prior
to the law’s passing, over 900 locales in Israel – approximately
three-quarters of all townships in the country – already forbade
non-Jews from living within their municipal borders.

Sanctioning
the state to diminish the property rights of Palestinian citizens of
Israel is seemingly backed by widespread popular support. An Israel
Democracy Institute poll published in
November found that two-thirds of Israeli Jews believe that the right
of Palestinian citizens of Israel to buy land in the country should
be curtailed, while a quarter of Israeli Jews said any such purchases
should be forbidden altogether.

In
recent weeks, a family of Palestinian citizens of Israel who
purchased a home in the northern city of Afula was protested by
hundreds of locals, including the former mayor, who told local
press,
“’the residents of Afula don’t want a mixed city, but rather a
Jewish city, and it’s their right. This is not racism.”

Adalah has panned the Nation-State law, saying it “discriminates against
the Arabs in the fields of citizenship, property and land, language
and culture, and justifies their inferiority in all spheres of life
by excluding them from the political community that constitutes the
sovereign in their homeland”.

“No
country in the world today is defined as a democratic state where the
constitutional identity is determined by ethnic affiliation that
overrides the principle of equal citizenship,” the group said in a
statement.

Als de psychopathische regering van
Israël haar zin krijgt, zal Israël discriminatie tegen de Palestijnen legaliseren, ofwel apartheid tot officieel beleid maken…….* Daarmee geeft deze regering
onder leiding van Palestijnenslachter Netanyahu, toe een fascistische
regering te zijn en maakt het van Israël officieel een fascistische apartheidsstaat……..

De hoogste tijd dat Nederland en alle
andere westerse landen die deze fascistische staat steunen, daar
eindelijk een eind aanmaken, alsof je godverdomme het nazi-Duitsland
van 1935 steunt in haar haat en vervolging tegen/van de joden……

Hoe is het mogelijk dat het Israëlische volk dat zo
is vervolgd, steeds meer de kenmerken overneemt van haar eerdere

How
Israel Makes Apartheid Against Palestinians “Legal”

‘Jewish
nation state’ bill is only the latest attempt to legislate
discrimination against Palestinians.

(MEE) This
week, if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gets his way, the
Israeli government will formally pass into law the “Jewish nation
state” bill. The precise final text remained unclear at the time of
writing, with compromises
and amendments still
being discussed among coalition partners.

With
the Knesset’s summer recess on the horizon, and Netanyahu seemingly
determined to pass the law ahead of the break, the initiative has
risen to the top of the news agenda in Israel, with high-profile
interventions from opponents and supporters.

Last
Tuesday, President Reuven Rivlin warned in
a public letter of what he believes are the dangers inherent in the
law – especially an article designed to protect and promote the
existence of Jewish-only communities.

Lobbying
efforts

Meanwhile,
a number of Jewish American leaders have been strongly
urging Netanyahu
to reconsider, intensifying their lobbying efforts to prevent the
bill’s passage.

These
responses have, regrettably but predictably, been characterised by a
failure to understand or take sufficiently into account how Israel’s
status as a “Jewish state” has always been reflected in
legislation and practice, and, crucially, how this has impacted on
Palestinians since 1948.

Many
discriminatory laws are already
on the books,
and legal ways to create segregated communities in Israel already
exist. There is no
right to equality,
and Israel is not a
state of all its citizens.
The much-heralded Declaration of Independence is not a
constitutional law, and the Basic Law already privileges the
protection of a “Jewish state” over equality for non-Jewish
citizens.

As
a UN
special rapporteur put
it in 2012, Israeli authorities already pursue “a land development
model that excludes, discriminates against and displaces minorities.”
The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has
similarly noted “the enactment of
a number of discriminatory laws on land issues which
disproportionately affect non-Jewish communities.”

Indeed,
the issue of Jewish-only communities, which has dominated recent
criticism over the proposed bill, is often debated without reference
to the fact that Israel already has hundreds of
such segregated communities, thanks to the role of “admission
committees.”

Traced
back to the Nakba

A
decade ago, Human
Rights Watch reported
on how these committees “are made up of government and community
representatives as well as a senior official in the Jewish Agency or
the Zionist Organisation, and have notoriously been used to exclude
Arabs from living in rural Jewish communities.”

Such
decades-old institutionalised discrimination, which can be traced all
the way back to the Nakba, makes a mockery of the claim by the Israel
Democracy Institute’s Mordechai
Kremnitzer that
the new law would somehow constitute “the end of Israel as a Jewish
and democratic state.”

The
new law does, however, represent an innovation, both legally and
politically, as analysed by
legal rights centre Adalah in a new position paper published on
Sunday; enjoying the status of a Basic Law, the Jewish nation state
bill would anchor racist practices in the constitution.

Coverage
by Western media has, on the whole, reproduced the
lacuna of the bill’s Israeli critics. Yet, the omission of the
experience of Palestinian citizens in this “Jewish and democratic”
state is compounded by an analysis that fails to look deeper into why
this legislation is being proposed at all.

The
“Jewish nation state” bill is not the product of a right-wing
tussle between Likud and Jewish Home, or Netanyahu and Naftali
Bennett. Rather, tracing the origins of this proposed legislation
reveals that it is, in essence, pushback against the efforts by
Palestinian citizens over the last two decades to affirm their
national identity and demand a state of all its citizens.

Doubling
down

Not
long after former Shin Bet head Avi Dichter began efforts to pass a
“Jewish nation state” bill in 2011, Israeli journalist Lahav
Harkov – now news editor of the Jerusalem Post – praised the
initiative by citing “campaigns to delegitimize Israel on the rise
both inside and outside the country.”

Thus,
the response from the Israeli political establishment to a mobilised
Palestinian citizenry demanding genuine equality has been to
double-down on discrimination, and to defiantly and ever-more
explicitly assert and legally protect the existence of a “Jewish
state.”

But
this is not without its advantages, as highlighted by the furore over
the new bill. For what the draft legislation threatens is not the
existence of a “democratic” Israel, but rather critics’ idea of
a “Jewish and democratic” state (or at least the plausibility of
maintaining this idea).

Through
its crudeness, the bill threatens Israel’s ability to continue
long-standing, institutionalised discrimination with no international
cost, a prospect flagged through the warnings of
Israel’s attorney general and Jewish American leader Rabbi
Rick Jacobs.

Demographic
war

“The
true face of Zionism in Israel,” wrote Orly
Noy in
+972 magazine last week, is “an inherent, perpetual demographic war
against its Palestinian citizens. If Israel seeks to be Jewish and
democratic, it needs to actively ensure a Jewish majority.”

The
“Jewish nation state” bill, whatever its final fate, is part of
this historic and ongoing demographic war – one that is testimony
to the activism of Palestinian citizens and an effort to stifle it.

As
Israel consolidates the de facto single state between the river and
the sea, this won’t be the last attempt to see the apartheid
reality on the ground further reflected in legislation.

Pet af voor Benjamin Ladraa, hij is een Zweedse mensenrechtenactivist die bezig is met een 5.000 kilometer lange ‘vredes-voettocht’ naar Palestina. Benjamin Ladraa begon zijn tocht vorig jaar op 5 augustus. Momenteel bevindt hij zich in het Zuid-Turkije.

Israël verbiedt nu zelfs Palestijnen uit de Gazastrook het land te verlaten als zij een medische behandeling nodig hebben……

Dat de Gazastrook een
openluchtgevangenis is, die het best te vergelijken is met het getto van Warschau tijdens WOII, zal waarschijnlijk nog maar een klein aantal
mensen bevreemden, om die ‘over de streep te trekken heeft Israël nu
zelfs een bootje met gewonde Palestijnen verhinderd de Gazastrook te
verlaten om op Cyprus medische hulp te zoeken……. Als bij het getto van Warschau, waar de joden dit getto niet mochten verlaten…….

De gewonde Palestijnen waar het hier om gaat, zijn godbetert door Israëlische militairen gewond geraakt, waarbij ze nog ‘van geluk’ mogen spreken dat ze niet werden vermoord in de immer voortdurende grootscheepse Israëlische terreur……

Zoals zo vaak op deze plek gesteld: hoe
is het in godsnaam mogelijk dat de wereld Israël laat begaan met
haar uiterst gruwelijk fascistische geweld tegen een bevolking, die
samengedrukt op een strook land gevangen zit en zich amper kan verzetten en verdedigen tegen het moderne Israëlische leger…… (zoals in het verleden bijvoorbeeld een Sioux krijger met pijl en boog geen kans had tegen het zwaar bewapende leger van de VS…)

Overigens op de West
Bank is het niet veel beter, ook daar wordt de mensen met opzet het leven
onmogelijk gemaakt, ofwel in feite is Israël bezig met een langzame etnische zuivering, immers als je niets meer hebt (zoals veel boeren op de West Bank, die de toegang wordt ontzegd tot hun al vele generaties in bezit zijnde landbouwgrond…) blijft er weinig anders over dan het land te verlaten…. Al blijkt nu dat inwoners van de Gazastrook zelfs dat wordt verboden……

Israeli
military accuses Hamas of taking advantage of injured people

The
Israeli Navy was
dispatched Tuesday to stop a boat which departed the Gaza Strip,
and which was carrying injured Palestinian civilians. The boat
intended to take the injured civilians from border protests to Cyprus
for medical treatment.

The
Navy stopped the boat, surrounding it and towing it to an Israeli
naval base at Ashdod. The military’s statement claimed that injured
people on board are being treated by the Israeli military’s medical
personnel.


The
military statement condemned Hamas, claiming the
group was behind the “provocation on sea,” and was trying to
“take advantage of injured and handicapped people.” Not mentioned
in the statement was that the wounded Palestinians were wounded by
Israeli crackdowns on protests.

Israeli officials are
arguing that the capture of the ship was legal because they consider
their naval blockade of the Gaza Strip legal. Putting aside that
question, the blockade was imposed to try to prevent ships reaching
Gaza with goods, and is now being interpreted as forbidding people
from fleeing the strip, even just to receive medical treatment.

Terecht was en is er veel ophef over het scheiden van ouders en kinderen door de VS overheid bij het illegaal inreizen over de VS – Mexicaanse  grens. In het hieronder opgenomen artikel van
ACLU gaat de schrijver Jeffery Robinson in
op de lange geschiedenis in de VS van het uit elkaar trekken van
families….. Zoals bij de concentratiekampen in WOII voor Japanners die (al lang) in de VS woonden (en
Duitsers, vreemd genoeg worden die in dit verband weer niet genoemd)…. Waar de vaders van deze gezinnen voor het
overgrote deel al eerder werden geïnterneerd in kampen waar ze werden
onderworpen aan dwangarbeid……

Voor de ergste gevallen moet je terug
naar de genocide op de oorspronkelijke volkeren van wat nu de VS wordt genoemd (het gestolen land), zoals het Navajo volk (ook wel Dineh volk genoemd), mensen die ten onrechte worden aangeduid als indianen. De kinderen van deze volkeren werden van hun ouders afgenomen en op
speciale ‘kostscholen’ geplaatst: -waar ze hun taal niet mochten
spreken, -waar hun haar werd geknipt, -waar ze werden vernederd en -waar ze werden
groot geschopt en gehersenspoeld met het verfoeilijke christelijke geloof……

Uiteraard geldt voor de slaven uit Afrika hetzelfde, al werden de kinderen van deze mensen niet naar scholen gebracht, maar
zo snel mogelijk ingezet als arbeidskracht, ofwel tewerkgesteld als kindslaven………

Heden ten dage lijkt het er zwaar op dat de psychopathische Trump administratie al van meet af
aan niet van plan was om de kinderen van vluchtelingen uit Latijns
Amerika te herenigen met hun ouders……. ‘Een mooi afschrikwekkend
voorbeeld’ voor mensen die nog van plan zijn naar de VS te vluchten
(voor het overgrote deel op de vlucht voor de gevolgen van VS
bemoeienissen met het land van herkomst in Latijns Amerika….)…..

Een overeenkomst met kinderen van de oorspronkelijke volkeren uit dit deel van Noord-Amerika: de door de VS overheid ontvoerde kinderen van gevluchte ouders uit Latijns Amerika, moeten de bloederige vlag van de VS eren, bovendien zouden ze de verfoeilijke valse teksten van het VS volkslied op moeten kunnen zeggen, althans zo meldden meerdere bronnen de afgelopen weken……. Hoe cynisch kunnen zaken zijn in het gestolen land dat men ‘Amerika’ durft te noemen……

Children
are crying for their parents while being held in small cages. The
attorney general tells us the Bible justifies what we see and the
White House press secretary backs him up. Be horrified and angered,
but not because this is a new Trump transgression against real
American values. America was in the business of separating
families long before Trump. 

I
am not talking about spurious claims that Obama did the same thing or
the valid comparisons to how our criminal justice system uses a cash
bail system that every day rips
children from
their families before they or their parents have been convicted of
any crime. The true story is that the United States has a
well-documented history of breaking up non-white families.

When
we sent Japanese Americans to internment camps, families were often
separated when
fathers were sent hasty relocation orders and forced labor
contracts. In some cases, family members (usually the father)
had been arrested earlier and sent to a different camp.

Forty
years later, the U.S. government apologized,
provided reparations of $20,000 to every survivor of those internment
camps, and blamed the “grave
wrong”
on “racial prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political
leadership.” 

Sound
familiar?

The
separating of Native American families was more intentional. America
deliberately tried to wipe native culture from our country. According
to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian,
beginning in the late 1800s, thousands of American Indian children
were forcibly sent to government-run or church-run “boarding
schools,” where they were taught English and forbidden to
speak their native languages.  


An
exhibit at the museum includes a quote from Richard Henry Pratt,
founder of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, stating: “In
Indian civilization I am a Baptist, because I believe in immersing
the Indian in our civilization and when we get them under, holding
them there until they are thoroughly soaked.”


The
boarding schools forced children to cut their hair and give up their
traditional clothing. Their meaningful native names were
replaced with English ones. Their traditional religious practices
were forcibly replaced with Christianity. They were taught that their
cultures were inferior. Teachers sometimes ridiculed the students’
traditions. These lessons humiliated the students and taught them to
be ashamed of their heritage.

“They
tell us not to speak in Navajo language. You’re going to school.
You’re supposed to only speak English,” John Brown Jr., a Navajo
who served in World War II as a code talker by using his Navajo
language for tactical communications the Japanese could not decode,
told the museum in a 2004 interview. “And it was true. They did
practice that, and we got punished if you was caught speaking
Navajo.”

And
then, of course, America enslaved Blacks for 246 years. Separating
enslaved families was done for profit, for punishment, or simply
because a seller or buyer wanted it that way in the 17th, 18th, and
19th centuries. 

“Destroying
families is one of the worst things done during slavery,” said
Henry Fernandez, co-founder of the African
American Research Collaborative (AARC) and
a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. “The federal
government maintained these evils through the fugitive slave laws and
other rules which defined African Americans as property with which a
slave owner could do whatever they wanted.”

Each
of these policies, Fernandez said, begins with the assumption “that
the idea of family is simply less important to people of color and
that the people involved are less than human. To justify ripping
families apart, the government must first engage in dehumanizing the
targeted group.”

“The
Weeping Time” exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of African American
History and Culture documents the U.S.
history of separating children from
parents.  “Night and day, you could hear men and women
screaming … ma, pa, sister or brother … taken without any
warning,” Susan Hamilton, a witness to a slave auction, recalled in
a 1938 interview. “People was always dying from a broken heart.”

A
report in the Maryland
State Archives includes
a narrative from a man named Charles Ball, who was enslaved as a
child and remembered the day he was sold away from his mother.

“My
poor mother, when she saw me leaving her for the last time, ran after
me, took me down from the horse, clasped me in her arms, and wept
loudly and bitterly over me,” Ball recalled. “My master seemed to
pity her and endeavored to soothe her distress by telling her that he
would be a good master to me, and that I should not want anything.”

Ball
added that when his mother’s persisted, his master hit her with a
rawhide whip.

Thousands
of former slaves looked for lost relatives and children who had been
sold away from their families. They placed thousands of ads in
newspapers. Those ads are now being digitized in a project called
“Last Seen: Finding Family After Slavery,” which is run by
Villanova University’s graduate history program in collaboration
with Philadelphia’s
Mother Bethel AME Church.

Our
history of separating families is no older than our use of the Bible
to justify transgressions against humanity. In
1667, Virginia
law stated
that if an enslaved person became Christian it did not mean freedom
because the only way that conversion could happen was through the
“charity and piety of their masters.” When Texas
withdrew from
the union it declared that enslaving people was justified by “the
revealed will of the Almighty Creator.” William
T. Thompson,
the designer of the Confederate Flag said, “As a people, we are
fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man
over the inferior or colored race.” Jeff Sessions is simply
the most recent person to try to justify an indefensible policy by
referring to the Bible. 

On
June 14, Attorney General Jeff Sessions cited biblical
scripture Romans
13 to
claim support for the Trump administration’s forced separation of
immigrant families. “I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his
clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the
government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order,”
he said.

As
it happens, this is the same
passage cited
by loyalist preachers who said America should not declare
independence from England; it was cited by southerners defending
slavery; and, it was cited to defend authoritarian rule in Nazi
Germany and South African apartheid.

Dagboek Hebron: de voortdurende Israëlische terreur 1

Het
Hebron Freedom Fund (Working for Peace and Justice) is begonnen met
een dagboek waarin zoveel mogelijk de dagelijkse ellende wordt beschreven, die
Palestijnse burgers van Hebron ondervinden van het uiterst
gewelddadige Israëlische leger en de psychopaten die zich kolonisten
noemen (en daar godbetert nog trots op zijn ook….). Beiden illegaal aanwezig op de West Bank en dus ook in en nabij Hebron………

Beste bezoeker, zoals je ongetwijfeld weet is het niet mis waar deze Palestijnse mensen mee te maken
krijgen, echter de dagelijkse werkelijkheid is nog veel erger dan je je kunt voorstellen: opsluiting in het eigen huis, blokkades waar de burgers keer
op keer worden vernederd door Israëlische militairen, ontzegging van toegang voor Palestijnse boeren tot de eigen landbouwgrond, landjepik, terreur ook door de illegale bezetters ofwel de kolonisten van de West Bank, ontvoering, gijzeling (vasthouden zonder vorm van proces, wat zelfs kinderen overkomt…..) en veel te vaak zelfs (massa-) moord……

Ik
zal deze nieuwsbrieven in de vorm van een dagboek blijven overnemen, zoals het zich laat aanzien zal dit dagboek door het Hebron Freedom Fund één keer per week worden bijgewerkt.

An
Israeli military patrol vehicle hit Hebron teenager
Muhammad al-Zaru,
near the Ibrahimi Mosque, in the Old City of Hebron.

Israeli
soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian construction worker Rami Wahid
Sabarneh.
A husband and father of four, the 37-year-old was from the
Hebron-area town of Beit Ummar. The military claimed he was
attempting to carry out a vehicular attack, a assertion witnesses
have vehemently denied. Israeli soldiers prevented an ambulance from
reaching Sabarneh to provide him with medical aid.

In
the morning Israeli Occupation Forces arrested
39-year-old Suzan Al-Oweiwi, an
elected member of the Hebron municipal council from her
house.

In
the afternoon, Israeli
settlers entered and tried to occupy a Palestinian house in the old
city of Hebron.
Thankfully, after few hours, they left the house. 

In
the evening,
the Israeli Military claimed they were searching for
a “suspicious looking” Palestinian in the Tel Rumida
neighborhood, shooting
four rounds of live ammunition and two flares into the air,
one of which started a fire. During their search, they declared
the area a closed military zone, preventing
residents from adjacent neighborhoods from entering the area.

The
soldiers detained
45-year-old Ashrf Said and his young son on
their way to pray, during the holy month of Ramadan. After being
released and allowed to continue on, another soldier
threatened Said with his M16.

On
their return, father and son were again stopped. Soldiers
violently searched Said’s body.
When our human rights observers/volunteers tried to translate for
him, they were also threatened. See the video taken
by Youth Against Settlements.

Early
in the morning, the Israeli military welded shut the front doors of
Sami Zahda’s house,
on the beginning section of Shuhada street which Palestinians are
still able to access. Left
inside were Sami, his wife and their 3 & 4 year old sons.
The building’s landlord tried to appeal to the soldiers, explaining
that the only other exit was too dangerous to use.

Due
to pressure from the local community and human rights groups, at
4pm the soldiers finally unsealed the front door.

However,
by evening, a large group of settler children, encouraged by the
adult settler population, had congregated on the stoop of the
house, harassing
the family and the rest of the Palestinian population.
Rather than ensuring safety for all, the soldiers accommodated
the violent activities of the children and declared the entire area a
closed military zone.
 


Welding
shut Palestinian front doors in Hebron is part of a wider
strategy of closure and coerced resettlement spanning back 25 years
in order to kill the Palestinian identity of Hebron.

In
the early hours of the morning, the Israeli military once
again welded shut the doors of the Zahda family house,
despite protests of surrounding Palestinian families and the
illegality of these actions under international and even Israeli
law.

Israeli
soldiers threw large rocks and a bottle of juice at the Youth Against
Settlement center in Tel Rumeida. The soldiers’ actions followed a
gathering at the center for Iftar breaking of the fast.

Upping
their harassment, the Israeli Military arrested Youth Against
Settlements spokesperson Mohammad Zoghayer on his way to the center,
claiming that he appeared “suspicious.” Thankfully, he was
released the next day.

marked the Muslim holiday of Eid
al Fitr, the end
of the Ramadan holiday month and the beginning of a new year.

As
Eid approaches, the commercial streets of Hebron’s old city are
filled with uncharacteristic life (throughout the rest of the year
the devastating impact the occupation has turned the old city into a
ghost town). Families prepare for the celebration by buying new
clothes and stocking their pantries with supplies for the Eid al Fitr
feast. A favorite stop is al Sahel
al Akhdar sweets, where they’ve been producing Ramadan treats, like
these Suhoney pistachio borma, for the past 25 years.

for yourself.

Dr.
Fadi Mohammed al-Batash, een ingenieur op het gebied van
energieopwekking, hoogleraar en imam, werd afgelopen zaterdagmorgen in Maleisië, waar hij al 10 jaar woonden, doodgeschoten door de duopassagier van een motorrijder…….

is duidelijk dat dit weer een actie van de fascistische
apartheidsstaat Israël is, ofwel de Mossad heeft dr. al-Batash
vermoord…….. Zoals gewoonlijk na dit soort standrechtelijke executies (van in feite niet eens verdachte en veelal ongewapende mensen), onthoudt de regering van Israël zich van commentaar, echter in het verleden ontkende Israël het wel, als het niets met een dergelijke laffe aanval te maken had…… 

Israëlische media schilderden al-Batash al snel af als een raketgeleerde, echter
als hij dat al was wat deed hij dan in Maleisië?? Bovendien heeft dr.
al-Batash al diverse internationale prijzen gewonnen met zijn werk op
het gebied van de elektriciteitsvoorziening, die hij o.a in Maleisië voor een deel op poten heeft gezet…… Als al Batash werkelijk een raketgeleerde was, waren de raketten die Hamas afschiet van 100% betere kwaliteit geweest en konden ze daadwerkelijk doelen raken, i.t.t. de veredelde vuurpijlen die nu worden afgeschoten door Hamas……

Het
lijkt er dan ook meer op dat Israël bang was dat al-Batash van plan
was iets te doen aan de energievoorziening in de Gazastrook, waar hij
is geboren….. De fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël heeft de energievoorziening van de Gazastrook
vernietigt (de zoveelste oorlogsmisdaad…) en levert nu mondjesmaat energie aan de Gazastrook, waar de
mensen blij mogen zijn als ze 2 uur per dag elektriciteit geleverd
krijgen……. Israël stopt die levering wanneer het haar maar
uitkomt……

Te
zot voor woorden dat de regering van het gestolen land Israël, beter
gezegd Palestina wegkomt met haar vreselijke terreur binnen en buiten
‘haar grenzen’ en het westen deze fascisten blijft steunen…. Hiervoor wordt telkens weer het lamme excuus gebruikt dat stappen ondernemen tegen Israël het
‘vredesproces’ negatief zal beïnvloeden….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Welk
vredesproces en is de ongebreidelde Israëlische terreur al niet voldoende om dat ‘vredesproces’ te ondermijnen?

Engineer ‘Killed by Mossad’ in Malaysia, Says Family

(MEE) — A
revered Palestinian academic and engineer from Gaza was shot dead in
Malaysia on Saturday morning outside a mosque, according to local
police.

Dr
Fadi Mohammed al-Batash, 35, who was married and had three
children,
was shot by two people on a motorcycle near Kuala Lumpur, the
Malaysian capital, local police said in a statement.

Malaysian
authorities said it it was treating the murder as an act of terrorism
and that it had begun an immediate investigation.

Police
said that Batash, also known as Fadi Albatsh, was shot in
the “body and head” and that CCTV

footage
showed him being targeted by assassins who had waited for him
for almost 20 minutes.

Pictures
on Palestinian media outlets showed that police had cordoned off the
area where Batash died. Bullet shells can be seen lying on the floor.

Batash’s
father told Al Jazeera it suspected that Mossad, Israel’s national
intelligence agency, was behind Batash’s murder.

In
a statement from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, his family said: “We
accuse the Mossad of being behind the assassination.”

An
Israeli official refused to comment when contacted by AFP.

Kuala
Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said one of two suspects
on a high-powered motorcycle “fired 10 shots, four of which hit the
lecturer in the head and body. He died on the spot.”

The
family said Batash, who had lived in Malaysia for ten years, had
intended to fly to Turkey for a science conference on energy. Israeli
news outlet Haaretz said he was due to fly to Turkey this weekend.

Hamas,
the group that controls the Gaza Strip, said in a statement that
Batash was one of its members.

Before
travelling to Malaysia to take up a post as a lecturer at a private
university, he was employed by the Energy Authority in the Gaza
Strip. Israel’s YNet news reported that
he was a lecturer at the British-Malaysian Institute at the
University of Kuala Lumpur.

In
a statement released on Twitter, Hamas described Batash as a “martyr”
and a “distinguished scientist who has widely contributed to the
energy sector”.

Palestine’s
ambassador to Malaysia, Anwar H Al-Agha, told the New Strait Times
that Batash was the second imam at the mosque near where he was
killed. Jalan Gombak, where he is reported to have been killed, is
immediate to the northeast of Kuala Lumpur.

Batash
was active on Twitter and voiced support for Palestinians in
Gaza taking part in the Great March for Return, the series of
protests held near the Gaza-Israeli border since the end of March
demanding the right of Palestinian refugees and their dependents to
return to Israel.

As
of 20 April, at least 43 Palestinians had been reported killed and
more than 4,000 injured in the protests, which are scheduled to
continue until 15 May. No Israeli casualties have been reported.

Batash
recently retweeted several eulogies commemorating journalist and
photographer Yaser Murtaja, a 30-year-old Palestinian who left behind
a wife and one child when Israeli security forces shot him dead when
he was covering the Great March for Return protest on 6 April.

The
Mossad is believed to have assassinated Palestinian militants and
scientists in the past, but has never confirmed such operations.

Hamas
has accused Mossad of assassinating one of its drone experts —
Mohamed Zouari —  in Tunisia in 2016, and the spy agency is
also believed to have been behind the 2010 murder of top Hamas
militant Mahmud al-Mabhuh in a Dubai hotel.
