Gisteren ging Trump nog eens in op het feit dat hij voor 2020 het tot nu toe verreweg grootste budget voor ‘defensie’ (lees: oorlogsvoering) heeft gereserveerd…….. Zijne kwaadaardigheid maakte verder bekend dat een deel van de gelden gereserveerd is voor de US Space Force, waar hij aan toevoegde dat de ruimte nu ook oorlogsgebied is van de VS en dat de VS de ruimte zal beheersen…….
‘De VS het land van de ongekende mogelijkheden’, zoals je wel zal begrijpen is dit in de negatieve zin van die woorden….. De VS waar een enorm aantal mensen dakloos is, zelfs gezinnen leven op straat of in tentsteden, gaat dus een ongekend hoog bedrag uitgeven aan oorlogsvoering…… De VS waar velen in de grote onderlaag geen zorgverzekering hebben en het kunnen vergeten als zij dure medicatie of een kostbare medische behandeling nodig hebben, geeft een onbeschoft hoog bedrag uit aan oorlogsvoering…. Waar dezelfde VS Iran verwijt te veel geld uit te geven aan de oorlog in Syrië, i.p.v. het volk…. De CIA loopt zelfs te stoken in Iran en de gewelddadige demonstraties in dat land werden en worden georganiseerd door deze geheime dienst van de VS dat zelf toegaf dat de CIA al jaren werkzaam is in Iran….
Hoe is het allemaal mogelijk mensen, nog geen 50 jaar geleden zouden de straten in Washington DC vol hebben gestaan met demonstranten, echter die tijden lijken voorgoed voorbij te zijn…..
De VS is een ijskoude, inhumane neoliberale maatschappij waar het recht van de sterkste (in financiële zin) letterlijk heeft gezegevierd en blijvend zal domineren……
De woorden van Trump geven ten overvloede aan dat de VS het Vierde Rijk is, een fascistisch imperialistische politiestaat……*
Laten we hopen dat alle misdaden (ook tegen het eigen volk) en oorlogsmisdaden van de Trump administratie goed worden vastgelegd zodat t.z.t. de verantwoordelijken als Trump en Pompeo voor het gerecht kunnen worden gesleept….. Jammer genoeg is dat laatste pas mogelijk als er een revolutie in de VS zal plaatsvinden en die kans acht ik bijzonder klein (maar goed je weet maar nooit hoe een koe een haas vangt…)….
2020 (althans bijna), hoe is het mogelijk?
* Trump gaf voorts aan dat de bedrijven die meewerken aan de Nord Stream 2 (NS2) pijpleiding, die van Rusland naar Duitsland wordt aangelegd, zullen worden gestraft met sancties….. Ofwel Trump laat Duitsland en de EU nogmaals weten dat zij zich hebben te schikken aan de imperialistische wensen van de VS, daar ze anders gestraft zullen worden…. De VS wil haar dure schaliegas verkopen aan de EU, de werkelijke reden, en niet zoals Trump en zijn fascistische schoftenregering zeggen, dat Rusland met de NS2 pijpleiding te veel invloed zal hebben op de EU…….Het is wel duidelijk dat de EU door de VS wordt gezien als een afvallige provincie, die bij de les moet worden gehouden….. Hoe is het mogelijk dat de EU niet volledig op de kop staat? De werkelijkheid is anders, men likt liever de hielen van deze uiterst agressieve terreurstaat, al moet gezegd worden dat Duitsland de Trump administratie heeft laten weten zich niet te bemoeien met de binnenlandse aangelegenheden in haar land. (zal hier in een later bericht op terugkomen) Dan te bedenken dat de VS een enorm aantal wapens, rollend en vliegend oorlogstuig heeft gestationeerd in EU landen, dit nog aangevuld met steeds meer militairen……. Daarnaast is de VS marine met een fiks aantal schepen aanwezig in de buurt van EU landen, niet alleen in de Oostzee (waar NS2 wordt aangelegd), maar ook langs andere territoriale wateren van EU landen…….. Ofwel de VS zou in principe instaat zijn om de EU militair aan te pakken en reken maar dat de NAVO-lidstaten de kant van de VS zullen kiezen, niet voor niets dat dit bondgenootschap, in feite een terreurorganisatie, altijd onder militair opperbevel van de VS staat……

Tot het jaar 2000, waar deze eeuw intussen al meer dan 2,5 miljoen
moorden aan toe zijn te voegen, moorden begaan door de VS en de NAVO
(deze terreurorganisatie stond en staat onder militair opperbevel stond
de VS, de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde…)….
De
daklozen in Californië en zoals ik het begrijp in de hele VS, mogen
niet langer beboet worden dan wel worden opgepakt omdat ze op straat
moeten slapen…… De VS, ‘het land van de ongekende mogelijkheden’,
in negatieve zin wel te verstaan en dat geld ook voor het overheidsbeleid in het buitenland….. Hoe is het mogelijk dat de zwaksten in de
maatschappij zo gepakt worden door hun eigen overheid, ‘The American Dream’ is dan ook al meer dan 200 jaar zo dood als een pier……
Wat een
voorbeeld ook voor de wereld, al weet je zo wel wat je kan verwachten van de VS wanneer je als natie niet gewillig aan de leiband van de VS loopt, zeker als je ziet hoe barbaars de VS al in eigen land bezig is tegen de
zwaksten van haar volk >> je kan dan als land buiten de VS niets anders verwachten dan dood en
verderf…. (zoals de geschiedenis laat zien en niet alleen vanaf 1945…)
De
daklozen mogen van 9 uur ‘s avonds tot 6 uur ‘s morgens op straat
slapen en gelukkig zijn er sommige burgemeesters die stellen dat er
rap ruimte moet worden gevonden of bijgebouwd om deze mensen
permanent humanitair op te vangen….

Supreme
Court: Sorry, California, Homeless Can Sleep on Sidewalks
The Supreme Court on
Monday said it will allow a lower court’s ruling stand that
protects the rights of the homeless to sleep on sidewalks or in
public parks if they don’t have anywhere else to go, which is a
significant setback for cities in California.
The justices refused
to take the case from Boise, Idaho, on without comment or dissent.

The outcome
was a significant victory for homeless activists and a setback for
city officials in California and other Western states who argued
the ruling
from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals undercut their
authority to regulate encampments on the sidewalks. The 9th Circuit
had agreed with lawyers for the homeless who argued that prosecuting
people for sleeping on the sidewalks violated the 8th Amendment’s
ban on cruel and unusual punishment if a city failed to provide
adequate shelter.
The 9th Circuit —
which has jurisdiction over California and eight other states out
west — ruling said a city ordinance “violates the 8th Amendment
insofar as it imposes criminal sanctions against homeless individuals
for sleeping outdoors on public property, when no alternative shelter
is available to them.”
According to the L.A.
Times, officials in Los Angeles expressed disappointment because
the ruling leaves the law unclear about what they can do to curtail
masses of people sleeping on sidewalks and in parks. Officials joined
with Boise in asking the Supreme Court to hear the case and said it
was “never an attempt to criminalize the homeless; rather, it was a
pursuit of a legal framework that is clear — in comparison to a
status quo that is ambiguous and confusing.”
“Letting the current
law stand handicaps cities and counties from acting nimbly to aid
those perishing on the streets, exacerbating unsafe and unhealthy
conditions that negatively affect our most vulnerable residents,”
he said.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric
Garcetti said via statement that “homelessness won’t be solved by
moving people from one street to another. Our focus will remain on
providing services to save lives, keeping our neighborhoods clean and
healthy, opening shelters to help get people indoors more quickly,
and building permanent units to keep them under a roof for good.”
Lawyers for the
homeless in Boise pointed out that in 2014 the city told its police
not to enforce misdemeanor ordinances that banned sleeping or camping
in public as long as there weren’t any other shelter spaces
available, which the city thought would end the lawsuit. However, the
9th Circuit issued a more broad ruling in 2018.
The Supreme Court
justices then had to decide whether or not there is a constitutional
right to sleep on a sidewalk in a case in which the city wasn’t
enforcing the ordinances that were being challenged.
The case began more
than 10 years ago when a number of homeless people were given
citations of $25 to $75 for camping on sidewalks. They then joined a
lawsuit challenging the fines as unconstitutional. According to the
L.A. Times, a large number of West Coast cities urged the Supreme
Court to hear the appeal of the 9th Circuit ruling.
The “creation of a
de facto constitutional right to live on sidewalks and in parks will
cripple the ability of more than 1,600 municipalities in the 9th
Circuit to maintain the health and safety of their communities,”
lawyers for Boise wrote.
“Nothing in the
Constitution … requires cities to surrender their streets,
sidewalks, parks, riverbeds and other public areas to vast
encampments,” the lawyers wrote.
People sleeping,
urinating and defecating
on sidewalks has of course long been a plague in cities like Los
Angeles and in 2006, the 9th Circuit ruled that the city can’t
enforce laws against people sleeping in public. So rather than appeal
the ruling, the city reached a settlement with lawyers for the
homeless, agreeing not to enforce the ordinance from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m
Op 30
november schreef ik al over de voorgenomen bezuinigingen van de Trump
administratie op voedselbonnen*. Nu blijkt dat de eerste bezuiniging
op voedselbonnen maar liefst 688.000 arme VS burgers treft…..
Mensen
tussen de 18 en 49 jaar krijgen dan nog voor 3 maanden voedselbonnen
als ze niet meer dan 20 uur per week werken…. Een uitermate smerige
streek daar veel mensen door slechte omstandigheden niet meer aan de bak kunnen komen dan een beperkt aantal uren per week, waarmee ze een inkomen
verdienen dat onvoldoende is om van te leven….. (trouwens ook van het minimumloon kan men in de VS, precies als in ons land, niet fatsoenlijk rondkomen…) Zie overigens waar
wij naar toe gaan met steeds meer zogenaamde zzp’ers en
uitzendkrachten die amper rond kunnen komen. Het voorgaande nog buiten de
uitbuiting middels ‘payrolling…..’
Onbegrijpelijk
dan ook dat we steeds weer de VS volgen in slechte voorbeelden….
Hoe kan je gvd zo omgaan met mensen?? Nogmaals: dit is een ernstige
vorm van terreur waardoor nog meer mensen in de VS honger zullen
lijden……
Dit
alles anno 2019, alsof we terug zijn in 1819 en dan durven we te
zeggen dat we in het westen in een ‘beschaafde maatschappij’ leven……..
Zoals in mijn eerdere artikel aangehaald, Trump heeft de welgestelden een cadeau gegeven van houd je vast: 1,5 biljoen dollar en laat de armen dus tegelijkertijd honger lijden…….
Wij hoeven ons overigens niet op de borst te kloppen, daar de Ombudsman en Kinderombudsvrouw eergisteren met een CBS rapport kwamen waaruit blijkt dat het aantal daklozen in 10 jaar tijd onder de ‘bezielende inhumane neoliberale leiding’ van topleugenaar Rutte is verdubbeld tot 40.000…… (mede met dank aan de PvdA en de christelijke partijen CDA, CU en SGP……) Onder die daklozen een fiks aantal kinderen van wie enkelen zoals hun ouders in een auto moeten leven, een schande van jewelste!! Hundreds
of thousands of Americans who rely on the federal food stamp program
will lose their benefits under a new Trump
administration rule
that will tighten work requirements for recipients.
The
move by the administration is the latest in its attempt to scale back
the social safety net for low-income Americans. It is the first of
three proposed rules targeting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program, known as Snap, to be finalized. The program feeds more than
36 million people.
The
plan will limit states from exempting work-eligible adults from
having to maintain steady employment in order to receive benefits.
The
agriculture department estimates the change would save roughly $5.5bn
over five years and cut benefits for roughly 688,000 Snap recipients.
That’s down from its original estimate that 750,000 people would
lose benefits.
Under
current rules, work-eligible able-bodied adults without dependants
and between the ages of 18 and 49 can currently receive only three
months of Snap benefits in a three-year period if they don’t meet
the 20-hour work requirement. But states with high unemployment rates
or a demonstrable lack of sufficient jobs can waive those time
limits.
The
new rule imposes stricter criteria states must meet in order to issue
waivers. Under the plan, states can only issue waivers if a city or
county has an unemployment rate of 6% or higher. The waivers will be
good for one year and will require the governor to support the
request.
The
final rule will go into effect in April.
The
agriculture secretary, Sonny Perdue, said the rule will help move
people “from welfare to work”.
Congressional
Democrats and advocates for the poor were quick to condemn the
administration’s actions.
Senator
Debbie Stabenow said the plan will only serve to punish workers whose
jobs are seasonal or unreliable.
“This
administration is out of touch with families who are struggling to
make ends meet by working seasonal jobs or part time jobs with
unreliable hours,” said Stabenow, the top Democrat on the Senate
committee on agriculture, nutrition and forestry.
Robert
Greenstein, the president of the Center on Budget and Policy
Priorities, said the rule would disproportionately affect minorities.
He urged better job training and a higher minimum wage instead.
“Denying
them basic food and nutrition is not the route that a fair and
compassionate administration of either party should take,” he said
in a statement.
Over
the past year the agriculture department has proposed three
significant changes to the food stamp program. In addition to
restricting time limit waivers, the USDA has proposed eliminating
broad-based categorical eligibility, a measure that allows recipients
of certain non-cash public benefits to automatically qualify for food
stamps, and changing how utility costs are factored into benefit
calculations.
Brandon
Lipps, the deputy under secretary for the US Department of
Agriculture’s Food Nutrition and Consumer Services, did not say
when the department will finalize the other two proposed rules.
The
Urban Institute in a study released last month estimated that taken
together, the three measures would affect roughly 2.2m households,
and 3.7 million individual beneficiaries.
James
D Weill, the president of the Food Research and Action Center, said
the plan is “deeply flawed and ill-conceived“ and would lead to
higher rates of hunger and poverty.
“The
final rule would cause serious harm to individuals, communities and
the nation while doing nothing to improve the health and employment
of those impacted by the rule,” he said.
Trump
heeft de welgestelden middels het terugbrengen van belastingtarieven
een cadeau gegeven van 1,5 biljoen dollar….. Dezelfde Trump (en
zijn administratie) zijn nu van zins om voor 4,5 miljard dollar te
bezuinigen op voedselhulp voor arme gezinnen…….
Hoe is
het gvd mogelijk dat zoveel politici de VS nog steeds als lichtend
voorbeeld zien?? Hoe is het mogelijk dat men zich nog steeds schikt
naar de eisen van de VS, zoals kiezen voor de JSF, een waardeloze jager die zich nog net kan meten met een straaljager uit de 70er jaren…. Of wat dacht je van de ‘defensie’ uitgaven: reken maar dat Nederland over een paar
jaar 2% van het bbp aan defensie uh oorlog zal uitgeven, ook al weet men
dondersgoed dat de VS zo achterlijk veel uitgeeft aan het ministerie van oorlog door de volgende zaken: -alle illegale oorlogen die dit land voert, -de
duizenden standrechtelijke executies middels drones, -de geheime
militaire missies onder bevel van de CIA, -de meer dan 800 militaire
bases die dit gestolen land over de wereld heeft en voor -de geheime gevangenissen die de CIA her en der heeft…..
Als het plan doorgaat om op voedselhulp te bezuinigen, laat de VS ten overvloede nog eens zien dat het ook terreur in eigen land uitoefent….

Afgelopen
donderdag was het 56 jaar geleden dat VS president John F. Kennedy werd vermoord
in Dallas, Texas. Information Clearing House (ICH) bracht gisteren
een toespraak die John F. Kennedy (JFK) op 10 juni 1963 hield op de American
University in Washington (D.C.) en waarin hij stelde
dat vrede het belangrijkste onderwerp is op aarde vrede. Niets tegen
in te brengen zou je zeggen, totdat je de hele toespraak op je laat
inwerken en dan kan je maar tot één conclusie komen: ook JFK was een
enorme hypocriet (ook al was hij m.i. een beter president dan alle na
hem aangetreden presidenten.
Hypocrisie
als stellen dat vrede het belangrijkste onderwerp is op aarde,
terwijl de VS de ene oorlog na de andere begon, hoe vaak Kennedy ook
stelde dat elk land op zijn/haar manier het volk kan dienen, de
praktijk zag er ook destijds geheel anders uit….. Kennedy stelde
dat hij geen voorstander was van een Pax-Americana, terwijl
de VS volkeren knechtte en knecht als zij tegen de (economische)
belangen van de VS handelden en handelen….. (ofwel weinig verschil met de Pax Romana, waar de VS tegenwoordig inderdaad een imperium is….) De VS die democratisch gekozen
leiders afzet en dictators parachuteerde en parachuteert en dat niet
zelden ten koste van veel mensenlevens……
Het
woord vrijheid valt meermaals in de lezing van Kennedy, echter wat is
vrijheid in de VS als je geen werk hebt en je afhankelijk bent van
voedselbonnen, waar je dure medicatie kan vergeten als je kanker hebt
daar je niet of niet voldoende verzekerd bent? Wat is vrijheid als je
2 banen nodig hebt om rond te kunnen komen ? (veel voorkomend in de
VS, al moet ik zeggen dat het er tijdens JFK wel wat beter uitzag
voor de grote onderlaag van de VS maatschappij) Wat is vrijheid als
je alleen al door je kleur op afstand staat en je vanwege je kleur
wordt gediscrimineerd? (vergeet niet dat er onder Kennedy nog steeds
apartheid bestond in de VS….)
JFK
stelt dat hij niet van een alomvattende vrede en in de goede wil van de mens
gelooft dat is voor fantasieën en fanatiekelingen…… Ja, als
je een alomvattende vrede nastreeft ben je een fanatiekeling, niet
als je als land: -overal en nergens met veel geweld ingrijpt,
-geheime dodelijke militaire missies uitvoert, -verkiezingen
manipuleert, -opstanden organiseert en ga nog maar even door…..)
Als je ziet wat de VS vanaf haar oprichting heeft gedaan en doet op het gebied van buitenlandbeleid, staat dat in schril contrast tot vrede en de goede wil van de
mens…..
Echte
vrede moet volgens JFK door vele naties worden nagestreefd en vrede
is niet statisch maar dynamisch, vrede is een proces, een manier
om geschillen op te lossen….. Lullig dan toch weer dat de VS
precies doet wat JFK niet wenselijk acht: geschillen worden door de
VS ‘opgelost’ met: -sancties waarbij grote aantallen mensen omkomen
(vooral kinderen, zwakkeren en ouderen), -staatsgrepen en -illegale
oorlogen……
Vrede is
niet onuitvoerbaar en oorlog is niet onvermijdelijk, zo stelde JFK in
zijn lezing, volgens hem moet de VS volkeren leiden om dat in te
zien….. Ik zal niet lachen, maar nogmaals: de VS is vooral goed in
het volkeren bijbrengen wat de VS verstaat onder vrede, door geweld
te gebruiken, ofwel oorlog voeren om zogenaamde democratische vrede
te brengen en zoals gezegd regelmatig door democratisch gekozen
regeringsleiders ten val te brengen en daar een trouwe lakei van de
VS in de vorm van een dictator te parachuteren…..*
Over
kernwapens stelt Kennedy dat het geld daarvoor beter uitgegeven kan
worden aan sociale programma’s, voor ziektebestrijding en de
bestrijding van armoede….. Lullig dan dat vooral de VS groots heeft
ingezet op kernbewapening en dat Rusland en China in feite niet
anders konden doen dan te volgen, zeker gezien de agressie van de VS,
vanaf haar illegale oprichting (op gestolen grond van de
oorspronkelijke bevolking die middels een genocide werd gedecimeerd)
Kennedy wees op de bemoeienissen van de VS met Afrika en Azië, dit om communistische invloed tegen te gaan, waar de VS in werkelijkheid een neokoloniaal bewind voerde (en voert) en ondanks al het geblaat in de VS over corruptie, deze elders juist in stand hield (en nog houdt)… Corrupte was en is tenslotte goed voor het grote bedrijfsleven….. Neokolonialisme, waar Kennedy stelde dat de Sovjet-Unie juist haar (‘verderfelijke’, Ap) invloed uitbreidde…..
Te zot
voor woorden zijn de zinnen die JFK gebruikte voor een tekst van de Sovjet-Unie voor militaire strategie, een tekst volgens JFK zonder enige grond en op basis
van ongeloofwaardige claims en dat op de ene na de andere bladzijde waar werd gesteld stelt
dat de VS bezig is haar invloed te vergroten door
oorlogsvoering….. Ben het niet eens met de Sovjet leiders of hoe zij met het volk omgingen, maar in deze hadden
ze het volledig bij het rechte eind….. Het voorgaande geldt ook
voor wat de top van de Sovjet-Unie zei over de wil van de VS om Europa onderhorig te maken
aan haar economische en strategische belangen, ja lullig maar wel degelijk waar…..
De meest
belachelijke zin die Kennedy gebruikte is wel de volgende: “The
United States, as the world knows, will never start a war. We do not
want a war”. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Wat een oplichter!
Ja, vrede is het belangrijkste onderwerp op aarde, handelde de VS maar eens dusdanig……(plus uiteraard de klimaatverandering, daar bij geen actie een enorm deel van de mensheid en van de dieren het dodelijke slachtoffer zullen zijn en zoals je weet: ook op dat gebied laat de VS het afweten)

Transcript
President
Anderson, members of the faculty, board of trustees, distinguished
guests, my old colleague, Senator Bob Byrd, who has earned his degree
through many years of attending night law school, while I am earning
mine in the next 30 minutes, ladies and gentlemen:
It
is with great pride that I participate in this ceremony of the
American University, sponsored by the Methodist Church, founded by
Bishop John Fletcher Hurst, and first opened by President Woodrow
Wilson in 1914. This is a young and growing university, but it has
already fulfilled Bishop Hurst’s enlightened hope for the study of
history and public affairs in a city devoted to the making of history
and to the conduct of the public’s business. By sponsoring this
institution of higher learning for all who wish to learn, whatever
their color or their creed, the Methodists of this area and the
Nation deserve the Nation’s thanks, and I commend all those who are
today graduating.
Professor
Woodrow Wilson once said that every man sent out from a university
should be a man of his nation as well as a man of his time, and I am
confident that the men and women who carry the honor of graduating
from this institution will continue to give from their lives, from
their talents, a high measure of public service and public support.
“There
are few earthly things more beautiful than a university,” wrote
John Masefield, in his tribute to English universities, and his words
are equally true today. He did not refer to spires and towers, to
campus greens and ivied walls. He admired the splendid beauty of the
university, he said, because it was “a place where those who
hate ignorance may strive to know, where those who perceive truth may
strive to make others see.”
I
have, therefore, chosen this time and this place to discuss a topic
on which ignorance too often abounds and the truth is too rarely
perceived, yet it is the most important topic on earth: world
peace.
What
kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax
Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the
peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about
genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth
living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and
to build a better life for their children, not merely peace for
Americans but peace for all men and women, not merely peace in our
time but peace for all time.
I
speak of peace because of the new face of war. Total war makes no
sense in an age when great powers can maintain large and relatively
invulnerable nuclear forces and refuse to surrender without resort to
those forces. It makes no sense in an age when a single nuclear
weapon contains almost ten times the explosive force delivered by all
of the allied air forces in the Second World War. It makes no sense
in an age when the deadly poisons produced by a nuclear exchange
would be carried by wind and water and soil and seed to the far
corners of the glove and to generations yet unborn.
Today
the expenditure of billions of dollars every year of weapons acquired
for the purpose of making sure we never need to use them is essential
to keeping the peace. But surely the acquisition of such idle
stockpiles — which can only destroy and never create — is not the
only, much less the most efficient, means of assuring peace. I speak
of peace, therefore, as the necessary rational end of rational men. I
realize that the pursuit of peace is not as dramatic as the pursuit
of war and frequently the words of the pursuer fall on deaf ears. But
we have no more urgent task.
Some
say that it is useless to speak of world peace or world law or world
disarmament and that it will be useless until the leaders of the
Soviet Union adopt a more enlightened attitude. I hope they do. I
believe we can help them do it. But I also believe that we must
reexamine our own attitude — as individuals and as a Nation — for
our attitude is as essential as theirs. And every graduate of this
school, every thoughtful citizen who despairs of war and wishes to
bring peace, should begin by looking inward — by examining his own
attitude toward the possibilities of peace, toward the Soviet Union,
toward the course of the cold war and toward freedom and peace here
at home.
First: Let us examine our attitude toward peace itself. Too many of
us think it is impossible. Too many think it unreal. But that is a
dangerous, defeatist belief. It leads to the conclusion that war is
inevitable — that mankind is doomed, that we are gripped by forces
we cannot control.
We
need not accept that view. Our problems are manmade, therefore,
they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No
problem of human destiny is beyond human beings. Man’s reason and
spirit have often solved the seemingly unsolvable and we believe they
can do it again.
I
am not referring to the absolute, infinite concept of universal peace
and good will of which some fantasies and fanatics dream. I do not
deny the value of hopes and dreams but we merely invite
discouragement and incredulity by making that our only and immediate
goal.
Let
us focus instead on a more practical, more attainable peace — based
not on a sudden revolution in human nature but on a gradual evolution
in human institutions, on a series of concrete actions and effective
agreements which are in the interest of all concerned. There is no
single, simple key to this peace, no grand or magic formula to be
adopted by one or two powers.
Genuine peace must be the product of
many nations, the sum of many acts. It must be dynamic, not static,
changing to meet the challenge of each new generation. For peace is a
process — a way of solving problems.
With
such a peace, there will still be quarrels and conflicting interests,
as there are within families and nations. World peace, like
community peace, does not require that each man love his neighbor; it
requires only that they live together in mutual tolerance, submitting
their disputes to a just and peaceful settlement. And history
teaches us that enmities between nations, as between individuals, do
not last forever. However our likes and dislikes may seem, the tide
of time and events will often bring surprising changes in the
relations between nations and neighbors.
So
let us persevere. Peace need not be impracticable, and war need not
be inevitable.By defining our goal more clearly, by making it
seem more manageable and less remote, we can help all peoples to see
it, to draw hope from it, and to move irresistibly toward it.
Second:
Let us reexamine our attitude toward the Soviet Union. It is
discouraging to think that their leaders may actually believe what
their propagandists write. It is discouraging to read a recent
authoritative Soviet text on Military Strategy and find, on page
after page, wholly baseless and incredible claims such as the
allegation that “American imperialist circles are preparing to
unleash different types of wars … that there is a very real threat
of a preventive war being unleashed by American imperialists against
the Soviet Union … [and that] the political aims of the American
imperialists are to enslave economically and politically the European
and other capitalist countries … [and] to achieve world domination
… by means of aggressive wars.”
Truly,
as it was written long ago: “The wicked flee when no man
pursueth.” Yet it is sad to read these Soviet statements — to
realize the extent of the gulf between us. But it is also a warning
— a warning to the American people not to fall into the same trap
as the Soviets, not to see only a distorted and desperate view of the
other side, not to see conflict as inevitable, accommodation as
impossible, and communication as nothing more than an exchange of
threats.
No
government or social system is so evil that its people must be
considered as lacking in virtue. As Americans, we find communism
profoundly repugnant as a negation of personal freedom and dignity.
But we can still hail the Russian people for their many achievements
— in science and space, in economic and industrial growth, in
culture and in acts of courage.
Among
the many traits the peoples of our two countries have in common, none
is stronger than our mutual abhorrence of war. Almost unique, among
the major world powers, we have never been at war with each other.
And no nation in the history of battle ever suffered more than the
Soviet Union suffered in the course of the Second World War. At least
20 million lost their lives. Countless millions of homes and farms
were burned or sacked. A third of the nation’s territory, including
nearly two thirds of its industrial base, was turned into a wasteland
— a loss equivalent to the devastation of this country east of
Chicago.
Today,
should total war ever break out again no matter how our two countries
would become the primary targets. It is an ironic but accurate fact
that the two strongest powers are the two in the most danger of
devastation. All we have built, all we have worked for, would be
destroyed in the first 24 hours. And even in the cold war, which
brings burdens and dangers to so many countries, including this
Nation’s closest allies our two countries bear the heaviest burdens. For we are both devoting massive sums of money to weapons that
could be better devoted to combating ignorance, poverty, and disease.
We are both caught up in a vicious and dangerous cycle in which
suspicion on one side breeds suspicion on the other, and new weapons
beget counterweapons.
In
short, both the United States and its allies, and the Soviet Union
and its allies, have a mutually deep interest in a just and genuine
peace and in halting the arms race. Agreements to this end are in
the interests of the Soviet Union as well as ours, and even the most
hostile nations can be relied upon to accept and keep those treaty
obligations, and only those treaty obligations, which are in their
own interest. So, let us not be blind to our differences, but let us
also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by
which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our
differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.
For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all
inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all
cherish our children’s future. And we are all mortal.
Third:
Let us reexamine our attitude toward the cold war, remembering that
we are not engaged in a debate, seeking to pile up debating points. We are not here distributing blame or pointing the finger of
judgment. We must deal with the world as it is, and not as it
might have been had the history of the last 18 years been different.
We
must, therefore, persevere in the search for peace in the hope that
constructive changes within the Communist bloc might bring within
reach solutions which now seem beyond us. We must conduct our affairs
in such a way that it becomes in the Communist’s interest to agree on
a genuine peace. Above all, while defending our own vital
interests, nuclear powers must avert those confrontations which
bring an adversary to a choice of either a humiliating retreat or a
nuclear war. To adopt that kind of course in the nuclear age would be
evidence only of the bankruptcy of our policy — or of a collective
death — wish for the world. To secure these ends, America’s
weapons are nonprovocative, carefully controlled, designed to deter,
and capable of selective use. Our military forces are committed to
peace and disciplined in self-restraint. Our diplomats are
instructed to avoid unnecessary irritants and purely rhetorical
hostility.
For
we can seek a relaxation of tensions without relaxing our guard. And,
for our part, we do not need to use threats to prove that we are
resolute. We do not need to jam foreign broadcasts out of fear our
faith will be eroded. We are unwilling to impose our system on any
unwilling people, but we are willing and able to engage in peaceful
competition with any people on earth.
Meanwhile,
we seek to strengthen the United Nations, to help solve its financial
problems, to make it a more effective instrument for peace, to
develop it into a genuine world security system — a system capable
of resolving disputes on the basis of law, of insuring the security
of the large and the small, and of creating conditions under which
arms can finally be abolished. At the same time we seek to keep
peace inside the non-Communist world, where many nations, all of them
our friends, are divided over issues which weaken Western unity,
which invite Communist intervention or which threaten to erupt into
war. Our efforts in West New Guinea, in the Congo, in the Middle
East, and in the Indian sub continent, have been persistent and
patient despite criticism from both sides. We have also tried to
set an example for others by seeking to adjust small but significant
differences with our own closest neighbors in Mexico and in Canada.
Speaking
of other nations, I wish to make one point clear. We are bound to
many nations by alliances. Those alliances exist because our concern
and theirs substantially overlap. Our commitment to defend Western
Europe and West Berlin, for example, stands undiminished because of
the identity of our vital interests. The United States will make no
deal with the Soviet Union at the expense of other nations and other
peoples, not merely because they are our partners, but also because
their interests and ours converge.
Our
interests converge, however, not only in defending the frontiers of
freedom, but in pursuing the paths of peace. It is our hope — and
the purpose of allied policies — to convince the Soviet Union that
she, too, should let each nation choose its own future, so long as
that choice does not interfere with the choices of others. The
Communist drive to impose their political and economic system on
others is the primary cause of world tension today. For there can be
no doubt that, if all nations could refrain from interfering in the
self determination of others, the peace would be much more assured.
This
will require a new effort to achieve world law — a new context for
world discussions. It will require increased understanding between
the Soviets and ourselves. And increased understanding will require
increased contact and communication. One step in this direction is
the proposed arrangement for a direct line between Moscow and
Washington, to avoid on each side the dangerous delays,
misunderstandings, and misreadings of the other’s actions which might
occur at a time of crisis.
We
have also been talking in Geneva about other first-step measures of
arms control, designed to limit the intensity of the arms race and to
reduce the risks of accidental war. Our primary long-range interest
in Geneva, however, is general and complete disarmament designed to
take place by stages, permitting parallel political developments to
build the new institutions of peace which would take the place of
arms. The pursuit of disarmament has been an effort of this
Government since the 1920’s. It has been urgently sought by the past
three administrations. And however dim the prospects may be today, we
intend to continue this effort to continue it in order that all
countries, including our own, can better grasp what the problems and
possibilities of disarmament are.
The
one major area of these negotiations where the end is in sight, yet
where a fresh start is badly needed, is in a treaty to outlaw nuclear
tests. The conclusion of such a treaty, so near and yet so far, would
check the spiraling arms race in one of its most dangerous areas. It
would place the nuclear powers in a position to deal more effectively
with one of the greatest hazards which man faces in 1963, the further
spread of nuclear arms. It would increase our security — it would
decrease the prospects of war. Surely this goal is sufficiently
important to require our steady pursuit, yielding neither to the
temptation to give up the whole effort nor the temptation to give up
our insistence on vital and responsible safeguards. I am taking this
opportunity, therefore, to announce two important decisions in this
regard.
First:
Chairman Khrushchev, Prime Minister Macmillan, and I have agreed that
high-level discussions will shortly begin in Moscow looking toward
early agreement on a comprehensive test ban treaty. Our hopes must be
tempered with the caution of history but with our hopes go the hopes
of all mankind.
Second:
To make clear our good faith and solemn convictions on the matter, I
now declare that the United States does not propose to conduct
nuclear tests in the atmosphere so long as other states do not do so.
We will not be the first to resume. Such a declaration is no
substitute for a formal binding treaty, but I hope it will help us
achieve one. Nor would such a treaty be a substitute for disarmament,
but I hope it will help us achieve it.
Finally,
my fellow Americans, let us examine our attitude toward peace and
freedom here at home. The quality and spirit of our own society
must justify and support our efforts abroad. We must show it in
the dedication of our own lives, as many of you who are graduating
today will have a unique opportunity to do, by serving without pay in
the Peace Corps abroad or in the proposed National Service Corps here
at home.
But
wherever we are, we must all, in our daily lives, live up to the
age-old faith that peace and freedom walk together. In too many of
our cities today, the peace is not secure because freedom is
incomplete.
It
is the responsibility of the executive branch at all levels of
government — local, State, and National — to provide and protect
that freedom for all of our citizens by all means within their
authority. It is the responsibility of the legislative branch at all
levels, wherever that authority is not now adequate, to make it
adequate. And it is the responsibility of all citizens in all
sections of this country to respect the rights of all others and to
respect the law of the land.
All
this is not unrelated to world peace. “When a man’s ways please
the Lord,” the Scriptures tell us, “he maketh even his
enemies to be at peace with him.” And is not peace, in the
last analysis, basically a matter of human rights — the right to
live out our lives without fear of devastation, the right to breathe
air as nature provided it, the right of future generations to a
healthy existence?
While
we proceed to safeguard our national interests, let us also safeguard
human interests. And the elimination of war and arms is clearly in
the interest of both. No treaty, however much it may be to the
advantage of all, however tightly it may be worded, can provide
absolute security against the risks of deception and evasion. But it
can, if it is sufficiently effective in its enforcement and if it is
sufficiently in the interests of its signers, offer far more security
and far fewer risks than an unabated, uncontrolled, unpredictable
arms race.
The
United States, as the world knows, will never start a war. We do not
want a war. We do not now expect a war. This generation of
Americans has already had enough — more than enough — of war and
hate and oppression. We shall be prepared if others wish it. We shall
be alert to try to stop it. But we shall also do our part to build a
world of peace where the weak are safe and the strong are just. We
are not helpless before that task or hopeless of its success.
Confident and unafraid, we labor on, not toward a strategy of
annihilation but toward a strategy of peace.

ALEC
Alert is een organisatie die zich bezighoudt met het tegenwerken van
de extreem rechtse lobbygroep ALEC, een groep uit de VS die verantwoordelijk is
voor smerige zaken als het behoud van het recht op het bezit (en
dragen) van wapens door burgers….. Alec is verantwoordelijk voor
sommige van de extreem, ultra conservatieve wetgeving op meerdere
gebieden, dus niet alleen het recht op het in het bezit hebben van
wapens, maar ALEC bemoeit zich ook met wetgeving op het stemrecht,
waar deze organisatie het onmogelijk, of zo moeilijk mogelijk maakt
voor het stemmen in verkiezingen door gekleurde VS burgers…..
Nog zo
één: ALEC houdt zich bezig met het terugdringen van
milieubescherming….. Ook het blokkeren van de ‘Affordable Care Act’
op staatsniveau behoort tot het ‘werk’ van ALEC, ofwel ALEC is tegen
een ziektekostenverzekering voor het arme deel van de VS
bevolking……. En beste bezoeker, dat waren een paar van de zaken
waar deze schoftenorganisatie zich mee bezighoudt……. Zelfs het
recht op vreedzaam protest wordt door lobbygroep ALEC
aangevochten…….
De leden
van ALEC, grote bedrijven, betalen fiks voor directe lobbytoegang bij
wetgevers op staatsniveau……
ALEC
Alert is er al in geslaagd dat bedrijven als Coca-Cola, AT&T,
Google en Comcast hun lidmaatschap van ALEC hebben opgezegd.
Het
volgende artikel is tevens een oproep om geld te steken in ALEC
Alert, echter de belangrijkste reden dat ik het artikel en de roep
om geld heb overgenomen, is het feit dat lobbyclubs geen reet te
zoeken hebben bij de politiek, die zelfs in de VS een
volksvertegenwoordiging is en geen bedrijvenvertegenwoordiging zou
moeten zijn, zoals wel het geval is…….. Lobbyen bij de politiek en door politici is een hele
smerige vorm van corruptie en zou wereldwijd verboden moeten
worden…. Men maakt zich druk om de leugens aangaande ‘Russiagate’,
een onzin verhaal waar geen schijn van bewijs voor werd geleverd…. Alsof Rusland zelfs al zou dit land besluiten een miljoen dollar te
spenderen voor beïnvloeding van de verkiezingen in de VS, dit
niet in de schaduw kan staan van de bedragen die de lobby van grote bedrijven uitgeven voor die verkiezingen, vele miljarden gaan naar het direct beïnvloeden van de
verkiezingen……..
Moet je nagaan, dan sprak ik niet eens over de reguliere massamedia die verkiezingen op enorme manier beïnvloeden, neem de hetze tegen de voorzitter van Labour in GB, Jeremy Corbyn, die nu al een paar jaar lang wordt gedemoniseerd in die media, een zaak die onze reguliere media maar al te graag hebben overgenomen en met veel leugens, bijvoorbeeld dat Corbyn antisemitisch zou zijn, wordt deze man gedemoniseerd waarbij men durft te stellen dat hij niet weet wat hij wil…… (en dan moeten die verkiezingen NB nog aangekondigd worden….) Tja, deze media zijn in handen van plutocraten of grote investeringsgroepen en die staan nu eenmaal pal voor het behoud van het ijskoude, inhumane, fascistoïde neoliberalisme……..
An
extreme right-wing lobby group
Our team has
agreed: some of the most important upcoming fights for our democracy
will happen in the states — not in Washington, D.C.
And
one major threat is a group you might not have heard of: ALEC.
ALEC
is the acronym for the benign-sounding American Legislative Exchange
Council.
Except… it’s
anything but benign. This
is a group of lobbyists funded by big corporations, working to ram
far-right legislation through state legislatures.
ALEC is
responsible for some of the most extreme, ultra-conservative laws
passed in the last decade: “Stand Your Ground” gun legislation,
racially discriminatory and overly strict voter photo ID laws,
rollbacks of environmental protections, and blocking the Affordable
Care Act at the state level, among others.
As
I write, ALEC is getting ready for the 2020 legislative sessions in
the states — and
eyeing even more extreme legislation in states across the
country. Stifling
the right to peaceful protest. Advancing a dangerous Article V
Constitutional Convention. Making it easier than ever to pollute our
environment.
We
must mobilize to stop them — and
defend our civil rights, voting rights, and every other right you and
I hold dear.
ALEC’s member
corporations pay top dollar for direct access to state lawmakers —
who allow lobbyists to write corporate dream legislation into ALEC
“model bills.” Then, ALEC-backed legislators rush those bills
through their state houses, churning out laws that enrich
corporations and hurt the rest of us.
But
we have a plan to stop ALEC… and it’s working. You
see, major companies don’t want to be publicly associated with
ALEC’s overwhelmingly unpopular and extreme agenda. And up until
very recently, ALEC has been able to operate from the shadows —
quietly pulling the strings to advance their right-wing policies.
But
in the past few years, peoples’ groups like Common Cause have exposed
ALEC for what it is —
and put MAJOR pressure on companies to cut ties with them.
Just this year,
three of ALEC’s biggest funders — AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon
— responded to our demands by canceling their ALEC membership. They
joined Google, Coca-Cola, and other major companies in a sweeping
exodus from ALEC’s toxic brand.
Now,
as we’re planning our strategy to STOP
ALEC,
I’m asking every Common Cause Member to chip in — and make an
ongoing investment in our plan that could shut them out for good.

until they cut ties with this extreme right-wing lobby group —

funds we can count on month after month.

I’ve
seen it firsthand… our strategy hits ALEC where it
hurts. They
don’t have grassroots members and don’t represent anyone besides
major corporations — so if we keep making clear to corporations and
their customers what sort of extreme agenda they’re backing (and
the public disgust that goes along with it), ALEC loses its
power.
AND… it’s
clear they’re running scared. ALEC has threatened Common
Cause and our coalition partners with legal action multiple times.
But all we’re doing is putting ALEC’s extreme agenda out in
the open and letting it speak for itself — which is a truth they
can’t keep hiding from.
Despite
all this, major companies like Anheuser-Busch, UPS, and Pfizer
continue to support ALEC. We
need your help to expose their involvement and hold them accountable.
That’s why
Common Cause has launched an Emergency Drive to raise the resources
required to stop ALEC and other pressing threats to our
democracy — by adding 1,000 more members to our special Guardians
for Democracy group by TODAY, September 8th.
We’ve

maatregel wordt genomen of wanneer de VS bezig is met haar imperiale doctrine
van illegaal oorlogsgeweld landen ten gronde te richten, landen waar
deze terreurentiteit niets te zoeken heeft…. Of neem de economische oorlogen van de VS tegen Iran en Venezuela, die in beide landen al veel slachtoffers hebben gemaakt…… Zo zijn in Venezuela door deze economische terreur al 40.000 mensen overleden, ofwel in feite zij zijn ze vermoord door de VS……
Afgelopen dinsdag was het weer zover toen ik een artikel van Jake Johnson op CommonDreams las, daarin het ongehoorde voorstel van de Trump
administratie om 3 miljoen VS burgers hun voedselbonnen af te nemen,
terwijl men een oorlogsbudget heeft opgetuigd dat nooit eerder zo
hoog was…….. De Trump administratie wil bijvoorbeeld arme gezinnen de voedselbonnen afnemen als zij door de nationale overheid of de staat waarin ze wonen worden gesteund met zaken als de kosten voor huisvesting en kinderopvang……
De VS
wordt overduidelijk fascistisch bestuurt en met name de grote
onderlaag, zo’n 60 miljoen mensen die afhankelijk zijn van
voedselbonnen, zijn het grote slachtoffer van dit ijskoude, inhumane
beleid…… Mensen zullen zonder deze voedselbonnen, waar ze niet worden geholpen door goede doelen organisaties of kerken, honger moeten

‘Unconscionable’:
Trump USDA Proposes New Rule to Strip Food Stamps From Over 3 Million
Americans
The
proposal, said Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, would “take food
away from families, prevent children from getting school meals, and
make it harder for states to administer food assistance.”

In
a move critics denounced as
the Trump administration’s latest effort to bypass Congress to attack
low-income families, the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Tuesday
proposed a new rule that would strip food stamps from more
than three million Americans.
USDA
chief Sonny Perdue, in a call with reporters Monday, said the rule
change would end automatic food stamp eligibility for those receiving
other forms of federal and state assistance. The 60-day comment
period on the proposal is set to begin Wednesday.
As
the Washington

“Current rules give states latitude to raise SNAP income
eligibility limits so that low-income families with housing and child
care costs that consume a sizable share of their income, can continue
to receive help affording adequate food.”
“This
option also allows states to adopt less restrictive asset tests,”
according to the Post,
“so that families, seniors, and people with a disability can
have modest savings or own their own home without losing SNAP
benefits.”
“This
proposal is yet another attempt by this administration to circumvent
Congress and make harmful changes to nutrition assistance that have
been repeatedly rejected on a bipartisan basis.” —Sen.

Policy
experts, lawmakers, and commentators warned the Trump
administration’s proposed rule—described by one critic as
“unconscionable“—would
increase hunger among vulnerable Americans.
Sen.
Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), the top Democrat on the Senate Agriculture
Committee, said in a statement Tuesday that the rule would “take
food away from families, prevent children from getting school meals,
and make it harder for states to administer food assistance.”
“This
proposal,” added Stabenow, “is yet another attempt by this
administration to circumvent Congress and make harmful changes to
nutrition assistance that have been repeatedly rejected on a
bipartisan basis.”
As Common
Dreamsreported in
April, the Trump administration is also moving to add punitive work
requirements to the SNAP program, a proposal that was met with a
flood of angry comments from across the nation.
“This
is a direct attack on the most vulnerable among us, and this policy
violence cannot go unchallenged,” Rev. William Barber, co-chair
of the national Poor People’s Campaign, said at the time.

Trump
heeft Patrick (‘Pat’) Shanahan, ex-top Boeing en als zodanig de belichaming van het militair-industrieel complex, aangewezen als het hoofd van het Pentagon, ofwel de nieuwe minister van defensie…… Shanahan nam deze functie al waar na het
vertrek van ‘maddog Mattis’ en wordt nu officieel door Trump aangesteld als minister van defensie (‘echt te mooi om waar te zijn’ een psychopathisch fascistische president te hebben met zoveel macht…)….
Shanahan
heeft een groot deel van zijn leven voor Boeing gewerkt, waar Boeing één van de
grootste leveranciers is van oorlogstuig in de VS. Zo geeft iedere VS
burger elk jaar via de belasting alleen aan Boeing al 102 dollar uit,
terwijl diezelfde burger 40 dollar per jaar kwijt is aan belasting
voor huisvesting en dakloosheid (waar een enorm aantal mensen in de
VS dakloos is, ‘op z’n best’ nog wonend in tenten……)….. De VS waar 60 miljoen mensen afhankelijk zijn van voedselbonnen…… De VS, het land van de ongekende mogelijkheden (voor de ‘happy few’)…….
Niet
vreemd dus dat Shanahan als interim minister van defensie en daarmee als topgraaier van het Pentagon, marine en strijdkrachten heeft gemanipuleerd
om bij Boeing vliegend oorlogstuig aan te schaffen…… Een beschuldiging waar hij overigens van werd
vrijgesproken, hoewel er over deze zaak geen twijfel bestaat bij
deskundigen die de cijfers hebben ‘ontleed…..’

Trump
Nominates Military-Industrial Complex to Lead Pentagon
(CD) — In
a move critics warned could further deepen the ties between the
sprawling and immensely profitable private weapons industry and the
U.S. government, the White
House announced Thursday
that President Donald Trump will nominate former Boeing executive
Patrick Shanahan to head the Pentagon.
Shanahan
has been serving as acting secretary of defense since the departure
of former Pentagon chief Jim Mattis in January.
“When
Patrick Shanahan was selected by Trump for a Pentagon post,” The
Nation‘s
John Nichols tweeted Thursday
in response to Shanahan’s nomination, “the Seattle
Times wrote:
‘Shanahan, 54, has no military or political experience. He is,
however, familiar with defense procurement from the business side.’
Very, very familiar.”
In
a column last
year, Nichols described Shanahan—who worked at Boeing for 31 years
before becoming Trump’s deputy defense secretary—as “the
embodiment of the military-industrial complex.”
“His
main claim to fame in the deputy post was his ardent advocacy for
Trump’s ‘space force’ scheme,” Nichols wrote. “So what
experience does Shanahan have? He is, literally and figuratively, the
embodiment of the military-industrial complex about which former
President Dwight Eisenhower warned Americans at the close of his
presidency in 1961.”
A 31-year Boeing employee, member of the Boeing Executive Council, and the embodiment of the military-industrial complex will soon be running the Pentagon.

As NBCreported,
Trump’s decision to nominate Shanahan—who must be confirmed by
the Senate—comes “just weeks after the Pentagon’s internal
watchdog cleared the longtime former Boeing executive of allegations
he provided his old employer… with preferential treatment. Shanahan
was accused of pushing Boeing fighter jets on the Air Force and
Marines.”
The
National Priorities Project (NPP) highlighted Shanahan’s potential
conflicts of interest in a series
of tweets following
news of his nomination.
“Patrick
Shanahan, former Boeing executive, is poised to keep running the
Pentagon as Defense Secretary with President Trump’s nomination,”
NPP wrote. “Conflict of interest? Boeing is already the
second-largest recipient of private contracts from the U.S.
military.”
“Last
year, the average taxpayer paid $102 for contracts with Boeing, ”
the group noted, “compared to just $40 for public housing and
homeless assistance.”

Voorlopig geven EU landen Duitsland, Groot-Brittannië (waar elke dag 4 miljoen kinderen met honger naar school gaan…), Frankrijk en Italië al meer dan 3 keer zoveel uit aan defensie dan Rusland, tel daar de rest van de EU-NAVO-lidstaten bij op en je zit al bijna op 4 keer zoveel uitgaven aan defensie, of beter gezegd aan oorlogsvoering dan Rusland…….
De VS zou eens op moeten houden met het illegaal oorlogvoeren, een fikse besparing op defensie moeten doorvoeren (de VS geeft al 7 keer zoveel uit aan oorlogsvoering dan Rusland en China samen….) en dat geld besteden aan de enorme arme onderlaag in het land, waar 60% van de bevolking afhankelijk is van voedselbonnen…… Kan de VS ook eindelijk iets doen aan de deplorabele staat van de infrastructuur…….
De Volkskrant van vandaag bakte ze weer eens geheel donkerbruin, men deed binnen de redactie een vraaggesprek met de eigen ‘diplomatiek redacteur’ (ha! ha!) Arnout Brouwers en vroeg hem of Hoekstra een punt heeft met zijn uitlatingen…… Je snapt het al: ja hoor, Hoekstra heeft volkomen gelijk en Nederland en Duitsland geven veel te weinig uit aan veiligheid…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Welke veiligheid Brouwers? De veiligheid van grootschalige VS en NAVO oefeningen langs de Russische grens, bijna het jaar rond, waarbij men het voor lief neemt dat bij het uit de hand lopen van deze oefeningen wel eens een oorlog zou kunnen ontstaan met Rusland >> WOIII…….
De veiligheid van het bombarderen van burgers in landen buiten de EU?? Bombardementen tijdens illegale oorlogen van de VS die alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 2,5 miljoen burgers het leven hebben gekost…… Waar deze illegale oorlogen ook nog eens de ‘veiligheid’ van terreur op de West-Europese straten bracht en een enorm aantal mensen op de vlucht deed slaan, mensen die we hier niet wensen op te nemen, ook al is de reden voor het op de vlucht slaan de westerse terreur in het moederland………
Voor Standpunt NL op Radio1 mag je tegenwoordig alleen inbellen als je lid van de Standpunt NL ‘community’ bent, logisch je wilt natuurlijk niet dat men met echt goede argumenten komt tegen het verhogen van in dit geval het defensiebudget…… Natuurlijk was de stelling vanmorgen er één waarmee men de zwaar ongepaste woorden van de onbeschofte boerenlul en fantast Hoekstra gelijk gaf……. (zelfs geen kritiek op de uitlatingen van Hoekstra….)
Ook in de Radio1 studio vanmorgen voetbal deskundige Frits Barend, die het had over de dode VS jongens die voor onze vrijheid zijn gestorven tijdens WOII…… (overigens is Nederland voornamelijk bevrijd door Canadese troepen, maar dat ‘terzijde…’) Alsof de VS daarmee een carte blanche kreeg om vanaf WOII meer dan 22,5 miljoen mensen te vermoorden….. Barend bemoei je in het vervolg ajb alleen met voetbal, je mist eenvoudigweg de geestelijke capaciteit om je over zaken als hiervoor beschreven een oordeel te vormen….
** Waar de VS de hoofdverantwoordelijke is voor de oorlog in Syrië, een oorlog die al vanaf 2006 werd voorbereid door de VS en een paar van haar bevriende agressief terroristische regimes als GB en Saoedi-Arabië…. De reden om een verandering van regime in Syrië door te willen drukken is de weigering van dit land om pijpleidingen van o.a. de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten over haar grondgebied toe te staan……
Zoals
hier de werkloosheidscijfers worden gemanipuleerd, zo wordt er in de
VS gegoocheld met banencijfers, niet onbelangrijk daar psychopaat
Trump zich al heeft uitgeroepen tot ‘de beste banenpresident
ooit……’
Hier
worden de werkloosheidscijfers gemanipuleerd door de politiek, het
CBS en andere bureaus (zoals het CPB), die de zittende regering
dienen met goochel cijfers. Zo wordt je niet meegerekend als
werkloos zijnde, wanneer je partner 10 cent meer verdiend dan het bedrag
waarboven je geen recht kan doen gelden op een bijstandsuitkering (leuk ook voor vrouwen, die daarmee na hun werkloosheidsuitkering weer totaal afhankelijk worden van ‘manlief…’)…. Zelfs al heb je
30 jaar aan een stuk gewerkt, na de werkloosheidsuitkering van een
paar jaar, krijg je geen cent bijstand, vanwege het bedrag dat je partner
verdient en wordt je zoals gezegd niet meegerekend als werkloos…. Meer dan schandalig!!
Over
bijstand gesproken: ook mensen die bijstand ontvangen, worden niet
als werkloos meegerekend, hetzelfde geldt voor invaliden die eerder in sociale werkplaatsen arbeid verrichtten, maar vooral door handelen van de PvdA in Rutte 2 thuis zijn komen te zitten…. (onder verantwoording van PvdA topleugenaar Asscher, minister van Sociale Zaken en PvdA hufter Klijnsma, staatssecretaris op datzelfde ministerie, Klijnsma, NB zelf invalide……)
In het
hieronder opgenomen artikel van Jack Rasmus, gaat hij in op de
banencijfers in de VS en komt tot de conclusie dat het ook hier om
gegoochel met cijfers gaat….. Zo wordt er bij het nieuw aantal gecreëerde banen niet bijverteld dat het om parttime banen gaat,
waardoor veel mensen die al werk hebben, een tweede baan of zelfs derde baan hebben genomen, dit daar
ze niet rond kunnen komen van hun slavenloon…..
Het
volgende artikel komt van CounterPunch en werd als gemeld
geschreven door Jack Rasmus:
The
recently released report on April jobs on first appearance, heavily
reported by the media, shows a record low 3.6% unemployment rate and
another month of 263,000 new jobs created. But there are two official
US Labor dept. jobs reports, and the second shows a jobs market much
weaker than the selective, ‘cherry picked’ indicators on
unemployment and jobs creation noted above that are typically
featured by the press.
Problems
with the April Jobs Report
While
the Current
Establishment Survey (CES) Report (covering
large businesses) shows 263,000 jobs created last month, the Current
Population Survey (CPS)
second Labor Dept. report (that covers smaller businesses) shows
155,000 of these jobs were involuntary part time.
This high
proportion (155,000 of 263,000) suggests the job creation number is
likely second and third jobs being created. Nor does it reflect
actual new workers being newly employed. The number is for new jobs,
not neeewly employed workers. Moreover, it’s mostly part time and
temp or low paid jobs, likely workers taking on second and third
jobs.
Even
more contradictory, the second CPS report shows that full time work
jobs actually declined last month by 191,000. (And the month before,
March, by an even more 228,000 full time jobs decline).
The
much hyped 3.6% unemployment (U-3) rate for April refers only to full
time jobs (35 hrs. or more worked in a week). And these jobs are
declining by 191,000 while part time jobs are growing by 155,000. So
which report is accurate? How can full time jobs be declining by
191,000, while the U-3 unemployment rate (covering full time only) is
falling? The answer: full time jobs disappearing result in an
unemployment rate for full time (U-3) jobs falling. A small number of
full time jobs as a share of the total labor force appears as a fall
in the unemployment rate for full time workers. Looked at another
way, employers may be converting full time to part time and temp
work, as 191,000 full time jobs disappear and 155,000 part time jobs
increase.
And
there’s a further problem with the part time jobs being created: It
also appears that the 155,000 part time jobs created last month may
be heavily weighted with the government hiring part timers to start
the work on the 2020 census–typically hiring of which starts in
April of the preceding year of the census. (Check out the Labor Dept.
numbers preceding the prior 2010 census, for April 2009, for the same
development a decade ago).
Another
partial explanation is that the 155,000 part time job gains last
month (and in prior months in 2019) reflect tens of thousands of
workers a month who are being forced onto the labor market now every
month, as a result of US courts recent decisions now forcing workers
who were formerly receiving social security disability benefits (1
million more since 2010) back into the labor market.
The
April selective numbers of 263,000 jobs and 3.6% unemployment rate is
further questionable by yet another statistic by the Labor Dept.: It
is contradicted by a surge of 646,000 in April in the category, ‘Not
in the Labor Force’, reported each month. That 646,000 suggests
large numbers of workers are dropping out of the labor force (a
technicality that actually also lowers the U-3 unemployment rate).
‘Not in the Labor Force’ for March, the previous month Report,
revealed an increase of an additional 350,000 added to ‘Not in the
Labor Force’ totals. In other words, a million–or at least a
large percentage of a million–workers have left the labor force.
This too is not an indication of a strong labor market and
contradicts the 263,000 and U-3 3.6% unemployment rate.
Bottom
line, the U-3 unemployment rate is basically a worthless indicator of
the condition of the US jobs market; and the 263,000 CES
(Establishment Survey) jobs is contradicted by the Labor Dept’s
second CPS survey (Population Survey).
GDP
& Rising Wages Revisited
In
two previous shows, the limits and contradictions (and thus a deeper
explanations) of US government GDP and wage statistics were featured:
See the immediate April 26, 2019 Alternative Visions show on
preliminary US GDP numbers for the 1st quarter 2019, where it was
shown how the Trump trade war with China, soon coming to an end, is
largely behind the GDP latest numbers; and that the more fundamental
forces underlying the US economy involving household consumption and
real business investment are actually slowing and stagnating. Or
listen to my prior radio show earlier this year where media claims
that US wages are now rising is debunked as well.
Claims
of wages rising are similarly misrepresented when a deeper analysis
shows the proclaimed wage gains are, once again, skewed to the high
end of the wage structure and reflect wages for salaried managers and
high end professionals by estimating ‘averages’ and limiting data
analysis to full time workers once again; not covering wages for part
time and temp workers; not counting collapse of deferred and social
wages (pension and social security payments); and underestimating
inflation so that real wages appear larger than otherwise.
Independent sources estimate more than half of all US workers
received no wage increase whatsoever in 2018–suggesting once again
the gains are being driven by the top 10% and assumptions of averages
that distort the actual wage gains that are much more modest, if at
all.
Ditto
for GDP analysis and inflation underestimation using the special
price index for GDP (the GDP deflator), and the various
re-definitions of GDP categories made in recent years and
questionable on-going GDP assumptions, such as including in GDP
calculation the questionable inclusion of 50 million homeowners
supposedly paying themselves a ‘rent equivalent’.
A
more accurate ‘truth’ about jobs, wages, and GDP stats is found
in the ‘fine print’ of definitions and understanding the weak
statistical methodologies that change the raw economic data on wages,
jobs, and economic output (GDP) into acceptable numbers for media
promotion.
Whether
jobs, wages or GDP stats, the message here is that official US
economic stats, especially labor market stats, should be read
critically and not taken for face value, especially when hyped by the
media and press. The media pumps selective indicators that make the
economy appear better than it actually is. Labor Dept. methods and
data used today have not caught up with the various fundamental
changes in the labor markets, and are therefore increasingly suspect.
It is not a question of outright falsification of stats. It’s about
failure to evolve data and methodologies to reflect the real changes
in the economy.
Government
stats are as much an ‘art’ (of obfuscation) as they are a
science. They produce often contradictory indication of the true
state of the economy, jobs and wages. Readers need to look at the
‘whole picture’, not just the convenient, selective media
reported data like Establishment survey job creation and U-3
unemployment rates.
When
so doing, the bigger picture is an US economy being held up by
temporary factors (trade war) soon to dissipate; jobs creation driven
by part time work as full time jobs continue structurally to
disappear; and wages that are being driven by certain industries
(tech, etc.), high end employment (managers, professionals),
occasional low end minimum wage hikes in select geographies, and
broad categories of ‘wages’ ignored.
