Deze stelde met grote zekerheid dat er nooit eerder een president zo laag in de peiling stond als Trump wat betreft zijn populariteit, namelijk 35%…….
Ik weet niet wat jij ervan vindt, maar 35% van de stemmen, voor een psychopathische imbeciel, lijkt me ‘wel wat teveel’ van het ‘goede….’ Een plork die de onderlaag (vooral ook aanwezig in zijn achterban) nog verder uitknijpt dan ooit voor mogelijk gehouden. Dezelfde ploert die de welgestelden en de bedrijven een kerstgeschenk van miljarden dollars gaf (o.a. aan Shell…)….
Het militair-industrieel complex heeft nooit eerder zulke winsten gemaakt als het afgelopen jaar onder Trump en dat zal de komende jaren nog verder groeien, althans als hij de meerderheid bij de komende Senaatsverkiezingen weet te behouden en zijn partij niet te ver van zich vervreemd, maar dat ‘zit wel goed’ geloof ik…… Deze Trump die intussen bezig is de illegale oorlogen te verhevigen in Irak, Syrië en Afghanistan, die bezig is met oefeningen op het binnenvallen van China, Rusland, Iran en nog ‘wat’ Afrikaanse landen……. Geen twijfel mogelijk, die 35% is 30% te hoog!
Bovendien zou ik me wel sterk moeten vergissen, als George W. Bush voor de aanslagen van 9/11 (911, wat je wilt) op een percentage van rond de 25 zat……. Niet alleen daarom werden de aanslagen op het juiste moment gepleegd……
Niet
alleen in Europa is de VS bezig met oorlogsvoorbereidingen tegen
Rusland*, maar ook in Azië en dan met name op een aanval tegen
Noord-Korea, ook al zou dit betekenen dat de VS daarmee tevens
een oorlog zal uitlokken met China…….. Ofwel ook dan zitten we in
feite in een derde wereldoorlog…….
De
Britse krant Telegraph heeft hier een artikel over gepubliceerd, waar
Darius Shahtahmasebi over schrijft in een artikel voor Anti-Media.
Hoewel de VS diverse mogelijkheden heeft om te overleggen met
Noord-Korea, heeft deze uiterst gewelddadige terreurentiteit onder het
beest Trump gekozen voor de agressieve benadering, een benadering die
zelden werkt, zoals de geschiedenis laat zien….. Sterker nog: de VS wenst niet meer te onderhandelen met Noord-Korea, zoals onlangs nog eens bleek na een schuiver van Tillerson die verklaarde dat de VS wel overleg wilde, waarop hij onmiddellijk werd teruggefloten door de Trump administratie……..
Het zou
de bedoeling van de VS zijn de ‘kernwapens’ van Noord-Korea te
bemachtigen dan wel uit te schakelen…… Kernwapens tussen
aanhalingstekens, daar er tot nu toe niet één keer gewag werd
gemaakt van nucleaire straling boven de plek van de ondergrondse
kernproeven die Noord-Korea heeft gedaan. Die straling is tot een
paar dagen na een kernproef bovengronds te meten, zelfs door
satellieten en daarvan gaan ‘er dagelijks wel een paar’ over Noord-Korea heen……….
Volgens
de Telegraph is het nog de vraag of de VS deze stap wel durft te
zetten, niet alleen vanwege de zojuist besproken ‘Noord-Koreaanse
kernraketten’, maar ook de eerder genoemde bemoeienis die te
verwachten is van China……..
Als
Noord-Korea inderdaad geen kernwapens heeft, zoals ik sterk vermoed,
is de kans groot dat de VS (die dit moet weten) toch een inval in het
land zal uitvoeren, in de hoop dat China zich afzijdig zal
houden….. De grote militaire oefening van de VS en Noord-Korea in
het begin van deze maand, was gericht op een inval in Noord-Korea en
dat doet het ergste vrezen……..

US Is Reportedly Preparing a Military Strike Against North Korea
(ANTIMEDIA)—According
to theU.K.-basedTelegraph,
Donald Trump’s war of words with North Korean president Kim Jong-un
has the potential to spiral into a confrontation. The U.S. is
reportedly drawing up plans for a “bloody nose” military attack
on North Korea.
According
to the Telegraph,
the aim of the strike would be to contain the North’s nuclear
weapons. This is in light of the fact that the U.S. has had multiple
opportunities to
contain North Korea’s nuclear weapons programs diplomatically but
has opted for hostile aggression, instead.
The Telegraph reports
that the White House has “dramatically” stepped up its
preparation for a military solution to the North Korean standoff,
receiving inside information from three “well-placed sources” —two
former U.S. officials and a third figure from within the Trump
administration.
One
of the options entails the U.S. destroying a launch site before North
Korea can conduct another missile test. It would specifically target
a stockpile of weapons.
“The
Pentagon is trying to find options that would allow them to punch the
North Koreans in the nose, get their attention and show that we’re
serious,” a
former U.S. security official briefed on policy told the Telegraph.
Not
surprisingly, the Telegraph’s report said the
Trump administration had Donald Trump’s Syria strike in April in
mind as a blueprint for action against North Korea. In that context,
the move would not be designed to contain or deter North Korea (such
an April-inspired limited strike would achieve nothing) — it
would most likely be aimed at America’s domestic population and the
international community.
Whether
the media will admit it or not, Trump’s Syria strike was a complete
farce. According to
the Russian Ministry of Defense, only 23 of the 59 missiles launched
actually hit the Syrian airbase in what Russia dubbed an inefficient
strike. In fact, barely a day later, the airbase was back in
action, deploying warplanes
to bomb rebel positions in the Homs countryside.
Further,
the U.S. actually gave Russia, Syria’s staunchest backer, prior
notice of the strike well before it was launched. Pentagon spokesman
Captain Jeff Davis said in a statement that
the so-called “deconfliction” channel set up by Russia and the
U.S. in Syria was used to disclose the strike to the Russian side. It
is inconceivable that Russia would not have passed this warning on to
Syria considering Russian personnel are on the ground there.
All
Trump’s April strike did was boost his ratings and improve his
standing in the media for a tiny period of time, as well as
boost stock in Raytheon, the manufacturer of
the Tomahawk missiles used in the attack. The purpose of the strike
could not have been to deter Syria from carrying out chemical weapons
attacks considering Trump ordered it
before he could have possibly received any credible intelligence
linking the Syrian government to the infamous chemical attack at Khan
Sheikhoun.
A
strike against North Korea aimed at doing damage to the country’s
military without prior warning will not be received well by a hostile
country that has demonstrated it has U.S. personnel well
within its strike range. As
Jeffrey Lewis, the director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program
at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, wrote
on Twitter,
“Mobile
missiles don’t need launch sites, Donald.”
Putting
this statement in context, Business
Insider explained that
North Korea has varied its launch sites, making it harder for the
U.S. to track and intercept missiles.
Missing
from any decent media coverage of this discussion is the little-known
fact that in October of this year, it was reported that
China was practicing bombing Guam, a U.S. territory. There is only
one inference to be drawn from this conduct — China was sending a
direct warning to the U.S. that its personnel will not be immune
should a war emerge on the Korean peninsula.
No
one is disputing that the U.S. could cause some serious damage to the
infrastructure of North Korea, but as Business Insider eerily
noted:
“The
US knows what capabilities it has to counter North Korea, but
not how North Korea would respond…The
bloody-nose scenario comes down to a gamble on
whether North Korea is ready to enter all-out war over a limited
strike.” [emphasis
added]
Rather
than take the gamble, the U.S. could consider a more
productive diplomatic option to dismantle North
Korea’s nuclear program instead, one that would not result in a
nuclear crisis.
Ontving afgelopen zondag een artikel van Jim Carey op Anti-Media. Hierin het nieuws dat de VS nu officieel wapens gaan leveren aan de Porosjenko junta in Oekraine…….
Volgens Carey leverde de VS tot nu toe alleen niet dodelijke ‘wapens’ aan Kiev, zoals voertuigen en zaken als hard- en software. Hier moet ik Carey echter tegenspreken, de VS leverde via via al veel eerder wel degelijk dodelijke wapens aan Kiev, ook al ging dit niet middels de officiële weg, leveringen van wapens waarvoor de CIA de coördinatie heeft gedaan……. Het gaat hier voor het grootste deel om wapens die uit Oost-Europa komen en die de Porosjenko kliek voor een appel en ei kon verwerven…..
De beslissing van de VS nu ook openlijk wapens te verkopen, zet de boel in Oost-Europa nog verder op scherp…… Ook Canada, dat zich meer en meer ontwikkelt als een onderaannemer van de VS (zoals Groot-Brittannie), nam eerder al de beslissing Oekraïne verder vol te proppen met wapens…..
Uiteraard doet men e.e.a. zogenaamd tegen Russische agressie in Oost-Oekraïne, terwijl daar één grote agressor is: het Oekraïense leger en dan m.n. de neonazi bataljons, die keer op keer de gesloten wapenstilstanden schenden en burgerdoelen beschieten, een oorlogsmisdaad volgens het verdrag van Genève…………..
De reguliere westerse media, het overgrote deel van de westerse politici en ‘opiniemakers’ (zoals die van HCSS* en Clingendael) houden de westerse bevolkingen keer op keer voor, dat het Russische leger in Oost-Oekraïne vecht, iets waarvoor men niet een flinter bewijs kan leveren, maar dat maakt niet uit: als je de leugens blijft herhalen, gelooft het gros van de mensen deze anti-Russische propaganda…. Ik zeg het nog maar eens: als het Russische leger daadwerkelijk mee had gevochten in Oost-Oekraïne, was heel Oekraïne al lang bevrijd van de uiterst corrupte neonazi-kliek in Kiev!!
De VS heeft overigens wel militairen in Oekraïne, waar men zelfs oefent op landingen (voor actie tegen De Krim), iets waar de reguliere westerse (massa-) media liever niet over berichten……..
Kortom: weer laat het westen zien niet geïnteresseerd te zijn in vrede, de oorlogsgod moet geëerd worden, u weet wel de god die zich bedient van het militair-industrieel complex en die vooral wordt aanbeden door de VS en de rest van het westen………
In
a move likely to further erode US-Russian relations, the Trump regime
has approved weapons sales to Ukraine.
(GPA) — While
Trump apologists spent last week pretending the US President was
finally making good on his promise “to improve relations with
Russia” by helping
foil a terror attack,
behind the scenes a much more despicable decision developed. This
decision, announced earlier this week, gives the green-light for US
arms dealers to sell
certain “defensive” weapons to
Ukraine, as opposed to the previous non-lethal support received by
Kiev.
While
it may be true that the US has been backing the military junta in
Ukraine since the days of the Maidan ‘protests,’ under the Obama
regime this support was limited to non-lethal materials such as
vehicles and intel equipment. Obama clearly had no problem propping
up these reactionary forces, but the US still didn’t cross the line
of arming Kiev’s soldiers until now.
Now
before our pro-Trump readers go off blaming the “deep state” for
this latest move, it must be said that a top White House official has
allegedly told the Washington
Post that
Trump personally signed off on this. The desire to make this decision
is also a publicly known priority of some of Trump’s top security
advisers including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Initially
the move to arm Ukraine was approved by the US Congress but was
heavily restricted by the Obama regime. Despite this bill passing
years ago, most senators weren’t personally invested in this
initial vote. However, a few zealots celebrate today. One such is the
neocon Bob Corker who told reporters he was “pleased the
administration approved the sale,” and that “This decision was
supported by Congress in legislation that became law three years ago
and reflects our country’s longstanding commitment to Ukraine in
the face of ongoing Russian aggression.”
The
US already has troops stationed in Ukraine and recently hosted NATO
drills which they invited Ukrainian soldiers to attend, but now with
the approval of arms sales, albeit only small arms such as Model
M107A1 Sniper Systems, the US has crossed a new line. Canada also
recently changed
their policy to
allow weapons sales to Ukraine signaling a possible larger shift of
NATO member policies.
This
move is, of course, occurring in an atmosphere of heightened tensions
between the west and Russia and is just the latest escalation in
Eastern Europe, where NATO troops have been massing for the last few
years. It has still never been independently verified that Russia
directly supports the rebels in east Ukraine against the forces of
Kiev (who continuously violate ceasefires), but with a partner as
unreliable as President Petro Poroshenko, the US arms sales will
likely be responsible for future murder and a possible PR victory for
Moscow.
Afgelopen donderdag nam de VN een resolutie aan waarin de VS wordt opgeroepen de verklaring van het 666 beest Trump en zijn oorlogshoer in de VN, Haley, Jeruzalem te erkennen als hoofdstad van Israël te herroepen…..
Alsof het normaal is een groot aantal landen te chanteren, stelden Trump en Haley, voordat de VN samenkwam om de beslissing van de VS te veroordelen, dat arme landen die hulp krijgen van de VS het wel kunnen vergeten als zij voor deze resolutie zouden stemmen…….. Een chantage die bij mijn weten alleen eerder werd (en nog steeds wordt) gedaan door Japan, in haar wil de walvisjacht voort te zetten. Japan gaf arme landen geld als zij tegen een verbod op de (Japanse) walvisjacht stemden…….
Gelukkig had een groot deel van die arme landen in deze lak aan de VS en stemden dus voor de resolutie die de VS opriep de beslissing te herroepen, Jeruzalem als hoofdstad van Israël te erkennen.
Als je de woorden van Trump en Haley leest in het Anti-Media/Creative Commons artikel van James Holbrooks hieronder, slaat de verbazing (ten overvloede) toe: hoe is het mogelijk dat deze leeghoofden nog door ook maar één persoon serieus worden genomen…??!!! Dit nog naast de achterlijke bewering van o.a. deze twee, dat dit goed is in voor de ‘vredesbesprekingen’ tussen Israël en de Palestijnen…… Het valt me overigens 100% mee, dat ook de meeste EU landen voor deze resolutie stemden, immers meestal stellen deze landen zich blind achter het walgelijke buitenlandbeleid van de VS.

The
Whole World Basically Just Gave Trump the Middle Finger

York City —The
Trump administration received a concerted middle finger from much of
the rest of the world on Thursday when it learned very publicly that
its longstanding bullying tactics may be losing their
effectiveness. Fromthe New
York Times:
“A
majority of the world’s nations delivered a stinging rebuke to the
United States on Thursday, denouncing its decision to recognize
Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and ignoring President Trump’s
threats to retaliate by cutting aid to countries voting against it.
“In
a collective act of defiance toward Washington, the General Assembly
voted 128 to 9, with 35 abstentions, to demand that the United States
rescind its Dec. 6 declaration on Jerusalem, the contested holy
city.”
The
United Nations resolution, drafted by
Turkey and Yemen, was the second condemning Trump’s decision to
upend decades’ worth of internationally recognized policy on the
hornet’s nest that is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The
first resolution, written by Egypt, went before the fifteen-member
U.N. Security Council on December 18. United States delegate Nikki
Haley vetoed the
draft while all fourteen other member nations voted in favor of it.
It
was Haley, in a letter sent to U.N. member nations on Tuesday, who
fanned the flames of what was already a controversial decision —
which includes moving the
U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem — on the part of the
Trump administration. She wrote that
the president would be watching Thursday’s vote “carefully” and
that he’d “requested
I report back on those countries who voted against us.”
She echoed the
warning on Wednesday via Twitter, claiming the embassy move was “the
will of the American ppl” and
that the U.S. would be “taking
names” of
those who stand against the decision.
Trump praised Haley’s
effort at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. This was also when he made
the threat to cut off financial assistance to nations opposing the
will of the United States:
“I
like the message that Nikki sent yesterday at the United Nations, for
all of these nations that take our money and then they vote against
us at the Security Council, or they vote against us potentially at
the assembly. They take hundreds of millions of dollars and even
billions of dollars and then they vote against us, well, we’re
watching those votes. Let ’em vote against us. We’ll save a lot.
We don’t care.”
Following
Thursday’s lopsided vote, a defeated Haley said the
U.S. would “remember
this day” on
which it was “singled
out for attack in the General Assembly.” Continuing,
Haley reiterated her president’s position, saying the
administration wouldn’t forget the affront when it was “called
upon once again to make the world’s largest contribution to the
United Nations.”
But
it was precisely this threatening tone that rubbed so many people the
wrong way in the first place, and some took the opportunity to speak
on the subject once the vote had been tallied.
“The
world is not for sale,”said Venezuela’s
representative to the U.N., Samuel Moncada Acosta, adding that U.S.
threats “imperil
global peace.”
Palestinian
foreign minister Riad Malki produced a comparable
sentiment, stating that
Palestine “will
not be threatened” and
that the Trump administration, with its action regarding Jerusalem,
is “ignoring
the dangerous repercussions of its decision.”
Palestinian
ambassador Riyad Mansour questioned the
motivations behind the U.S. decision itself:
“What
does this decision serve? It serves the Israeli government in
implementing its colonial plans. It serves the powers of extremism.”
Mansour
then highlighted that even stalwart U.S. allies such as Britain and
France voted in
favor of the resolution.
“Does
the United States not wonder why it stands isolated,” he asked,
“and why even its closest allies couldn’t turn a blind eye to
this decision?”
Fittingly,
in his comments, the foreign minister of Turkey — one of the two
drafters of the resolution — used the word that best sums up the
U.S. strategy to get countries to play ball on the vote: bullying.
Calling Trump’s
decision on Jerusalem “an
outrageous assault to all universal values,” Mevlut
Cavusoglu vocalized what many appeared to be thinking.
“This
is bullying,” he
said. “We
will not be intimidated.” Then,
addressing the U.S. directly, he added: “You
can be strong, but this doesn’t make you right.”
Despite
such unified opposition, the Trump administration remains resolute.
Nikki Haley has already rejected the
U.N. vote and said that plans regarding Jerusalem, including moving
the U.S. embassy there, will go forward as scheduled.
De laatste tijd zijn er een meerdere berichten gepubliceerd, waarin bewijzen worden gegeven voor VS (CIA) leveringen van wapens en raketten aan IS. Oké, dit is al veel langer bekend, maar het kan geen kwaad een paar van deze berichten te publiceren, zeker daar de reguliere westerse (massa-) media deze berichten niet brengen, of deze berichten worden hooguit door één of twee reguliere mediaorganen gepubliceerd (dat laatste geldt niet voor de twee hieronder opgenomen artikelen)
Het eerste artikel hieronder komt van Middle East Eye (MEE) dat ik vond via Anti-Media, het betreft hier VS wapenleveringen aan ‘gematigde rebellen’ (psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters en martelbeulen) in Syrië, wapens en munitie die echter voor een groot deel belanden bij hun collega’s van IS……
Jammer dat de schrijver van dit artikel niet ook heeft gekeken naar het feit, dat de CIA grote hoeveelheden ‘Russische wapens’ kocht in Oost-Europa en deze wapens aan terreurgroepen leverde in Syrië (iets dat o.a. in het daarna volgende artikel wordt beschreven). Al is het ongetwijfeld zo dat IS ook grote hoeveelheden wapens heeft buitgemaakt, o.a. op het reguliere Syrische leger.

Jammer ook dat men niet rept over de minstens 2 wapenleveringen van de VS direct aan IS, leveringen gedaan in Irak…..
Met deze artikelen wordt eens te meer duidelijk gemaakt dat het eerste doel van de VS in Syrië, niet IS was en is, maar de democratisch gekozen regering Assad (in door internationale waarnemers als eerlijk beoordeelde verkiezingen!). De VS stond dan ook samen met Saoedi-Arabië en Israël aan de wieg van IS en andere terreurgroepen….. De VS was al vanaf 2006 bezig de omverwerping van het Assad regime voor te bereiden. A

Weapons
provided by the US to Syrian rebel factions ended up in the hands of
the Islamic State (IS) group, a new report has revealed.
According
to Conflict Armament Research (CAR), an organisation that tracks arm
shipments, military equipment including anti-tank weapons that were
secretly transferred by CIA to rebels fighting Bashar al-Assad were
in IS possession within two months of leaving the factory.
The
study, which was funded by the European Union and Germany, examined
40,000 weapons and equipment recovered from IS in the last three
years, as the group’s “caliphate” continues to shrink in
the face of losses in Raqqa and Mosul.
It
concluded that projects to provide weapons to rebel groups had
“significantly augmented the quantity and quality of weapons
available to (Islamic State) forces.”
“Supplies
of materiel into the Syrian conflict from foreign parties – notably
the United States and Saudi Arabia – have indirectly allowed IS to
obtain substantial quantities of anti-armour ammunition,” read
the report. “These weapons include ATGWs and several varieties
of rocket with tandem warheads, which are designed to defeat modern
reactive armour. – Conflict

“These
systems continue to pose a significant threat to the coalition of
troops arrayed against IS forces.”
It
added that it could not confirm whether the weapons had ended up with
IS as a result of them being sold or because they had been seized.
US
weaponry has been used by IS since at least 2014 when the group swept
across Iraq and seized larges swathes of territory.
As
the US-trained Iraqi army collapsed in their wake, much of their
equipment was appropriated.
The
covert programme to funnel weaponry and equipment to rebels fighting
the Assad government began under Barack Obama in 2013, but was ended
in July by Donald Trump.
Attempts
to train rebel fighters across the border in Turkey also saw weaponry
end up in the hands of militant groups – the CIA-trained
Division 30, a group of roughly 70 fighters sent into northern Syria
to fight IS, were attacked by
the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front who captured their weapons.
The
report also added that more than 50 percent of the weaponry used by
IS was manufactured by China and Russia, largely from equipment
captured from the government of Iraq and Syria.
“China
produced the majority of the materiel (weapons and ammunition
combined) fielded by the group in both countries,” said the
report. “However, Russian-manufactured weapons outnumber Chinese
weapons deployed by IS forces in Syria – presumably reflecting
Russian supplies to the Syrian regime.
“These
findings support widespread assumptions that the group initially
captured much of its military materiel from Iraqi and Syrian
government forces.”
More
than 340,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict
broke out in March 2011 with protests against Assad’s rule that
sparked a brutal crackdown.

Blowback: ISIS Got A Powerful Missile The CIA Secretly Bought In Bulgaria
A new report on how ISIS built its arsenal highlights how the US purchased munitions, intended for Syrian rebels, that ended up in the hands of the terrorist group.

December 14, 2017 “Information Clearing House” – A guided anti-tank missile ended up in the hands of ISIS terrorists less than two months after the US government purchased it in late 2015 — highlighting weaknesses in the oversight and regulation of America’s covert arms programs, according to information published Thursday by an arms monitoring group called Conflict Armament Research (CAR).
Though the report says the missile was purchased by the US Army using a contractor, BuzzFeed News has learned that the real customer appears to have been the CIA. It was part of the spy agency’s top secret operation to arm rebels in Syria to fight the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The missile ended up in the hands of ISIS fighters in Iraq, according to the report.
The CIA declined to comment on the Obama-era program to back Syrian rebels, which was canceled by President Trump in July. The Pentagon did not provide information in time for publication.
The missile is one piece of a critical puzzle that is being solved only now, with ISIS on the run: How did the vast terror group arm its war machine? CAR spent three years tracking ISIS weapons as they were recovered by Iraqi, Syrian, and Kurdish forces — and found that what happened to the missile was no aberration. Indeed, the terror group managed to divert “substantial quantities of anti-armour ammunition” from weapons provided to Syrian opposition forces by the US or Saudi Arabia.
The anti-tank missile recovered from ISIS in February 2016. It had been shipped to the US Army in December 2015.
The investigators from CAR found that the policy has sometimes backfired, allowing America’s enemies to obtain arms meant for its allies. “Evidence collected by CAR indicates that the United States has repeatedly diverted EU-manufactured weapons and ammunition to opposition forces in the Syrian conflict,” the report states. ISIS, it continues, “rapidly gained custody of significant quantities of this materiel.”
The report lists 12 cases where Eastern European weapons originally sent to the US military or US contractors appear to have been diverted, somehow, to ISIS.
The weapon purchased by the US government in 2015, a 9M111B missile, is highly portable and can land a devastating charge with pinpoint accuracy on tanks, trucks, or buildings.
BuzzFeed News has been tracking the CIA’s procurement of 9M111 missiles as part of the deal for three years. In 2014, the CIA issued a contract to obtain 600 such missiles to Kiesler Police Supply, two sources said. Kiesler is a small Indiana company that frequently contracts with the CIA, according to experts in arms dealing. According to the CAR report, the contract for the missile that ended up in the possession of ISIS was handled by Kiesler.

The Indiana firm acquired those missiles from a Bulgarian company called SAGE Consulting, sources familiar with the transaction told BuzzFeed News. Bulgaria is a major source of the weapons that the US and other powers use to arm client armies.
In an email this summer, Kiesler declined to discuss the issue, writing that “we are not contractually authorized to disclose any information.” The company also insisted it was not to blame for where the weapons ended up. “Once Kiesler delivers its products to the customer, it does not have visibility with respect to the Government’s handling, use or disposition of the material,” it said.
On Wednesday, a woman who answered the phone at Kiesler hung up immediately. Then, after she was called again, she said that “we don’t talk to the media.”
SAGE, a well-known broker in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, declined a request for interviews with BuzzFeed News. But two Bulgarian arms dealers say SAGE has indeed been manufacturing the 9M111 missile, at a factory called VMZ, for the US government. “They make them only for the Americans,” one said, adding that the US buys as many as SAGE can manufacture.
Two sources familiar with the Syrian opposition told BuzzFeed News in 2015 that the CIA had begun to set up and train small tank-killing units of rebels. Each of these small units was planned as a force multiplier, which could enter a battle and effectively knock out Syrian armored positions, leveling the battlefield for the rebels.
In its report, CAR says the missile was originally purchased in Bulgaria by the US on Dec. 15, 2015. Just 59 days later, it was recovered in Ramadi, Iraq, after it had been fired by ISIS in combat.
In its report, CAR said a photo showed a US-backed Syrian rebel group, Jaysh al-Nasr, firing a missile that is identical to the one recovered from ISIS in Ramadi. The serial numbers on the ISIS missile and on one fired by Jaysh al-Nasr suggest that the two missiles were “part of the same supply chain,” according to CAR’s report.
A source close to the Syrian opposition said Jaysh al-Nasr fights chiefly in the north of Hama province, and was indeed aided by the CIA in Turkey. Two sources said the group received anti-tank missiles from the CIA.
It’s unclear how a missile provided to Jaysh al-Nasr in Syria would have ended up across the Iraqi border in ISIS hands.
A former Syrian opposition figure said rebels were vetted to the best of the CIA’s ability. The rebels, he said, were cautioned that every time they fired a weapon, they had to bring back the empty casings to prove they had in fact fired it rather than stolen or traded it.

Het meer dan stukke kompas van BNR voor ‘de in gewikkelde wereldpolitiek door Trump’, Bernard Hammelburg, heeft zijn column, die hij gisteren uitsprak voor BNR, geheel gewijd aan de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede en dan m.n aan de winnaar van dit jaar: Beatrice Fihn van ICAN, een organisatie die zich inzet tegen het bezit van kernwapens……..
Vooral de uitlating van Fihn dat we maar een driftbui verwijderd zijn van een kernoorlog, waarmee Fihn een driftbui van Trump en Kim Yung-un bedoelde, stak hem nogal en daarom zette hij dit weg als grote nonsens……. Echter Hammelburg vergeet wel even dat de nucleaire grootmachten VS en Groot-Brittannië vorig jaar te kennen gaven, het kernwapen niet langer als afschrikkingswapen te zien, maar als eerste aanvalswapen……. Anders gezegd deze landen sluiten een kernoorlog in de nabije toekomst niet uit!!
Een zaak die destijds zwaar onterecht maar weinig aandacht kreeg in de reguliere westerse media, echter toen Rusland als reactie op dit nieuwe beleid van de VS en GB aankondigde, zelf zo’n aanval niet uit te sluiten, stond de westerse wereld op haar kop, uiteraard opgezweept door diezelfde reguliere (massa-) media en het merendeel van de westerse politici (veelal lobbyisten van het militair-industrieel complex)…… Dit in een tijd waarin deze media en politici Rusland zo ongeveer van alles wat misgaat de schuld gaven (en nog steeds de schuld geven)………
Het is ronduit schandalig dat de EU geen kik gaf nadat de VS en Groot-Brittannië te kennen gaven niet uit te sluiten dat zij een kernoorlog zouden kunnen beginnen……..
Neem daarbij de situatie wat betreft het Witte Huis in ogenschouw en je zal zien dat Trump is verworden tot een marionet van de militairen die hem daar omringen…… Voeg daar het feit aan toe dat Trump een ondoordachte gewelddadige psychopaat is, die al eens kruisraketten liet afschieten op een Syrisch vliegveld als vergelding voor een aanval met gifgas. Een aanval die door het reguliere Syrische leger zou zijn gepleegd, waarvan later bleek dat de ‘gematigde rebellen’ (gesteund door het westen en m.n. door de VS) hiervoor verantwoordelijk waren……. Trump ging over tot deze actie, nadat hij een eerste bericht over die aanval op tv had gezien………. Nee, hoe kom je erbij dat deze psychopaat zomaar op de knop zou kunnen drukken, waarbij zijn vinger zal worden bediend door de oorlogshitsers die hem ter zijde staan……..
Wat dat betreft heeft Fihn het gelijk aan haar kant. Echter wat zowel Hammelburg als Fihn vergeten, is het feit dat Noord-Korea niet eens een atoombom heeft!!! (er is nooit radioactieve straling boven de plek van de ondergrondse Noord-Koreaanse kernproef aangetoond……)
Bovendien had Hammelburg even verder moeten lezen dan zijn neus lang is, dan had hij gezien dat Fihn veel van zijn waandenkbeelden deelt en derhalve al nooit de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede had mogen krijgen!!
Over die Nobelprijs voor de vrede gesproken: Hammelburg stelde terecht dat een aantal mensen, waaronder Obama en Aung San Suu Kyi, deze Nobelprijs onterecht kregen. Lullig dat hij niet ook even Kissinger noemde, maar deze massamoordenaar zal wel een lichtend voorbeeld zijn voor Hammelburg……….. Gegarandeerd dat Hammelburg verontwaardigd was dat Obama de Nobelprijs voor de vrede kreeg, daar hij deze kreeg toen hij nog maar net fungeerde als president van de VS en niet vanwege de illegale oorlogen die Obama in zijn ambtstermijn voortzette en begon, zoals die tegen Libië….

only defended President Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem as
Israel’s capital, but pressed all European nations to follow his
example.
Netanyahu
cited the Bible as proof of the position, saying
that the Bible makes it clear Jerusalem is
the capital of Israel, saying it was “absurd” of European
officials not to accept that position out of hand.
The
status of Jerusalem, in reality, is intensely contested, because it
is religiously significant to multiple religions, and is claimed as
the capital of not just Israel, but of Palestine as well. That Israel
has expanded the definition of “Greater Jerusalem” to include
large amounts of Palestine only makes such declarations more
controversial.
Indeed,
the occupation is a big reason why up Trump’s declaration, no
nation had accepted Israel’s claim of Jerusalem as a capital, and
everyone had their embassies in Tel Aviv. The rest of the world
largely maintains that such a position will remain until the
resolution of the occupation and the establishment of permanent
borders.

“Hitler
massacred three million Jews … there’s three million drug addicts
[in the Philippines]….. I’d be happy to slaughter them.” Those
are the words of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte
rose to power by professing to take a hard line against drugs and
crime in his country. But to him, that means murder. In the 16 months
since he has taken office, he has presided over the extrajudicial
killings of nearly 4,000 people. And that’s a low estimate: some
human rights organizations think he’s killed as many as 12,000
people.
These
slaughtered human beings were never given a chance to prove their
innocence. Instead,
they were murdered by death squads operating under the orders of
Duterte himself. Family members and neighbors describe the squads
arriving in the dead of night, crashing into homes and dragging
individuals away, never to be seen again.
But
instead of shunning Duterte and his campaign of death, world leaders
actually opted to reward him
by attending the 2017 ASEAN Summit held in Manila, the capital city
of the Philippines. Leaders from Australian Prime Minister Malcolm
Turnbull to U.S. President Donald Trump shook Duterte’s hand, posing
for smiling photos. These
greetings and photo ops give him the legitimacy he craves. But
his massacre of his own people is anything but legitimate.
Our
leaders represent us — or at least, they’re supposed to. We must
demand that they speak out against these crimes against humanity.

In dit artikel legt Sotille uit hoe het kan, dat de VS de ene (illegale) oorlog na de andere begint, terwijl een groot deel van het volk oorlogsmoe is……. Niet alleen het angstzaaien voor figuren als de Noord-Koreaanse dictator Kim Yung-un, maar ook ronduit oorlogshitsen door lobbyisten van het militair-industrieel complex, zijn de oorzaak voor het belachelijke budget dat de VS jaarlijks uittrekt voor ‘defensie’ (lees: oorlogsvoering)…..

show that Americans are tired of endless wars in faraway lands, but
many cheer President Trump’s showering money on the Pentagon and
its contractors, a paradox that President Eisenhower foresaw.
(CN) — The
Military-Industrial Complex has loomed over America ever since
President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of its growing influence during
his prescient farewell
address on
Jan. 17, 1961. The Vietnam War followed shortly thereafter, and its
bloody consequences cemented the image of the Military-Industrial
Complex (MIC) as a faceless cadre of profit-seeking warmongers who’ve
wrested control of the foreign policy. That was certainly borne out
by the war’s utter senselessness … and by tales
of profiteering by
well-connected contractors like Brown
& Root.

Over
five decades, four major wars and a dozen-odd interventions later, we
often talk about the Military-Industrial Complex as if we’re
referring to a nefarious, flag-draped Death Star floating just beyond
the reach of helpless Americans who’d generally prefer that war was
not, as the great Gen.
Smedley Darlington Butler aptly
put it, little more than a money-making
“racket.”
The
feeling of powerlessness that the MIC engenders in “average
Americans” makes a lot of sense if you just follow the money coming
out of Capitol Hill. The Project on Government Oversight
(POGO) tabulated all
“defense-related spending” for both 2017 and 2018, and it hit
nearly $1.1 trillion for each of the two years. The “defense-related”
part is important because the annual National
Defense Authorization Act,
a.k.a. the defense budget, doesn’t fully account for all the
various forms of national security spending that gets peppered around
a half-dozen agencies.
It’s
a phenomenon that noted Pentagon watchdog William
Hartung has
tracked for years. He recently
dissected it
into “no less than 10 categories of national security spending.”
Amazingly only one of those is the actual Pentagon budget. The others
include spending on wars, on homeland security, on military aid, on
intelligence, on nukes, on recruitment, on veterans, on interest
payments and on “other defense” — which includes “a number of
flows of defense-related funding that go to agencies other than the
Pentagon.”
Perhaps
most amazingly, Hartung noted
in TomDisptach that
the inflation-adjusted “base” defense budgets of the last couple
years is “higher than
at the height of President Ronald Reagan’s massive buildup of the
1980s and is now nearing the post-World War II funding peak.” And
that’s just the “base” budget, meaning the roughly $600 billion
“defense-only” portion of the overall package. Like POGO, Hartung
puts an annual price tag of nearly $1.1 trillion on the whole
enchilada of military-related spending.
The
MIC’s ‘Swamp Creatures’
To
secure their share of this grandiloquent banquet,
the defense industry’s lobbyists stampede Capitol Hill like
well-heeled wildebeest, each jockeying for a plum position at the
trough. This year, a robust collection of 208 defense companies spent
$93,937,493 to deploy 728 “reported” lobbyists (apparently some
go unreported) to feed this year’s trumped-up, $700
billion defense-only
budget, according
to OpenSecrets.org.
Last year they spent $128,845,198 to
secure their profitable pieces of the government pie.
And
this reliable yearly harvest, along with the revolving doors
connecting defense contractors with Capitol Hill, K Street and the
Pentagon, is why so many critics blame the masters of war behind the
MIC for turning war into a cash machine.
But
the cash machine is not confined to the Beltway. There are ATM
branches around the country. Much in the way it lavishes Congress
with lobbying largesse, the defense industry works hand-in-glove with
the Pentagon to spread the appropriations around the nation. This
“spread the wealth” strategy may be equally as important as the
“inside the Beltway” lobbying that garners so much of our
attention and disdain.
Just
go to U.S. Department of Defense’s contract announcement webpage on
any weekday to get a good sense of the “contracts valued at $7
million or more” that are “announced each business day at 5 p.m.”
A recent survey of these “awards” found the usual suspects like
Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics. The MIC was
well-represented. But many millions of dollars were also “won” by
companies most Americans have never heard of … like this sampling
from one
day at
the end of October:
Longbow
LLC, Orlando Florida, got $183,474,414 for radar electronic units
with the stipulation that work will be performed in Orlando,
Florida.
Gradkell
Systems Inc., Huntsville, Alabama, got $75,000,000 for systems
operations and maintenance at Fort Belvoir, Virginia
Dawson
Federal Inc., San Antonio, Texas; and A&H-Ambica JV LLC,
Livonia, Michigan; and Frontier Services Inc., Kansas City,
Missouri, will share a $45,000,000 for repair and alternations for
land ports of entry in North Dakota and Minnesota.
TRAX
International Corp., Las Vegas, Nevada, got a $9,203,652 contract
modification for non-personal test support services that will be
performed in Yuma, Arizona, and Fort Greely, Alaska,
Railroad
Construction Co. Inc., Paterson, New Jersey, got a $9,344,963
contract modification for base operations support services to be
performed in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

Shoe Co., Belleville, Illinois, got $63,973,889 for hot-weather
combat boots that will be made in Illinois.
American
Apparel Inc., Selma, Alabama, got $48,411,186 for combat utility
uniforms that will be made in Alabama.
National
Industries for the Blind, Alexandria, Virginia, got a $12,884,595
contract modification to make and advanced combat helmet pad
suspension system. The “locations of performance” are Virginia,
Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Sharing
the Largesse
Clearly,
the DoD* is large enough, and smart enough, to award contracts to
companies throughout the 50 states. Yes, it is a function of the
sheer size or, more forebodingly, the utter “pervasiveness” of
the military in American life. But it is also a strategy. And it’s
a tactic readily apparent in a contract recently
awarded to
Raytheon.
On
Oct. 31, 2017, they got a $29,455,672 contract modification for
missions systems equipment; computing environment hardware; and
software research, test and development. The modification stipulates
that the work will spread around the country to “Portsmouth, Rhode
Island (46 percent); Tewksbury, Massachusetts (36 percent); Marlboro,
Massachusetts (6 percent); Port Hueneme, California (5 percent); San
Diego, California (4 percent); and Bath, Maine (3 percent).”
Frankly,
it’s a brilliant move that began in the Cold War. The more
Congressional districts that got defense dollars, the more votes the
defense budget was likely to receive on Capitol Hill. Over time, it
evolved into its own underlying rationale for the budget.
As
veteran journalist William Greider wrote in
the Aug. 16, 1984 issue of Rolling Stone, “The entire political
system, including liberals as well as conservatives, is held hostage
by the politics of defense spending. Even the most well intentioned
are captive to it. And this is a fundamental reason why the Pentagon
budget is irrationally bloated and why America is mobilizing for war
in a time of peace.”
The
peace-time mobilization Greider referred to was the Reagan build-up
that, as William Hartung noted, is currently being surpassed by
America’s “War on Terror” binge. Then, as now … the US was at
peace at home, meddling around the world and running up a huge bill
in the process. And then, as now … the spending seems unstoppable.
And
as an unnamed “arms-control lobbyist” told Grieder, “It’s a
fact of life. I don’t see how you can ask members of Congress to
vote against their own districts. If I were a member of Congress, I
might vote that way, too.”
Essentially,
members of Congress act as secondary lobbyists for the defense
industry by making sure their constituents have a vested interest in
seeing the defense budget is both robust and untouchable.
But
they are not alone. Because the states also reap what the Pentagon
sows … and, in the wake of the massive post-9/11 splurge, they’ve
begun quantifying the impact of defense spending on their economies.
It helps them make their specific case for keeping the spigot open.
Enter
the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), which notes,
or touts, that the Department of Defense (DoD) “operates more than
420 military installations in the 50 states, the District of
Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.” Additionally, the NCSL
is understandably
impressed by
a DoD
analysis that
found the department’s “$408 billion on payroll and contracts in
Fiscal Year 2015” translated into “approximately 2.3 percent of
U.S. gross domestic product (GDP).”
And
they’ve become a clearinghouse for state governments’ economic
impact studies of defense spending. Here’s a sampling of recent
data compiled on the NSCL
website:
In
2015, for example, military installations in North
Carolinasupported
578,000 jobs, $34 billion in personal income and $66 billion in
gross state product. This amounts to roughly 10 percent of the
state’s overall economy.
In
2014, Coloradolawmakers
appropriated $300,000 in state funds to examine the comprehensive
value of military activities across the state’s seven major
installations. The state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs
released its study in May 2015, reporting a total economic impact of
$27 billion.
Kentuckyhas
also taken steps to measure military activity, releasing its fifth
study in June 2016. The military spent approximately $12 billion in
Kentucky during 2014-15. With 38,700 active duty and civilian
employees, military employment exceeds the next largest state
employer by more than 21,000 jobs.
In Michigan,
for example, defense spending in Fiscal Year 2014 supported 105,000
jobs, added more than $9 billion in gross state product and created
nearly $10 billion in personal income. A 2016 study sponsored by the
Michigan Defense Center presents a statewide strategy to preserve
Army and Air National Guard facilities following a future Base
Realignment and Closure (BRAC) round as well as to attract new
missions.

Electoral
Impact
But
that’s not all. According to the DoD study cited above, the biggest
recipients of DoD dollars are (in order): Virginia, California,
Texas, Maryland and Florida. And among the top 18 host states for
military bases, electorally important states like California, Florida
and Texas lead
the nation.
And
that’s the real rub … this has an electoral impact. Because the
constituency for defense spending isn’t just the 1 percent percent
of Americans who actively serve in the military or 7 percent of
Americans who’ve served sometime in their lives, but it is also the
millions of Americans who directly or indirectly make a living off of
the “defense-related” largesse that passes through the Pentagon
like grass through a goose.
It’s
a dirty little secret that Donald Trump exploited throughout the 2016
presidential campaign.
Somehow,
he was able to criticize wasting money on foreign wars and the
neoconservative interventionism of the Bushes, the neoliberal
interventionism of Hillary Clinton, and, at the same time, moan
endlessly about the “depleted” military despite “years
of record-high spending.”
He went on to promise a massive increase in the defense budget, a
massive increase in naval construction and a huge nuclear arsenal.
And,
much to the approval of many Americans, he’s delivered. A Morning
Consult/Politico poll showed
increased defense spending was the most popular among a variety of
spending priorities presented to voters … even as voters express
trepidation about the coming of another war. A pair of NBC
News/Survey Monkey polls found that 76
percent of Americans are
“worried” the United States “will become engaged in a major war
in the next four years” and only
25 percent want
America to become “more active” in world affairs.
More
to the point, only 20
percent of Americans wanted
to increase the troop level in Afghanistan after Trump’s
stay-the-course speech in August, but Gallup’s
three decade-long tracking poll found
that the belief the U.S. spends “too little” on defense is at its
highest point (37 percent) since it spiked after 9/11 (41 percent).
The previous highpoint was 51
percent in 1981 when
Ronald Reagan was elected in no small part on the promise of a major
build-up.
So,
if Americans generally don’t support wars or engagement in the
world, why do they seem to reflexively support massive military
budgets?
Frankly,
look no further than Trump’s mantra of “jobs,
jobs, jobs.”
He says it when he lords over the sale
of weapon systems to
foreign powers or he visits
a naval shipyard or
goes to one of his post-election rallies to proclaim to
“We’re building up our military like never before.” Frankly,
he’s giving the people what they want. Although they may be
war-weary, they’ve not tired of the dispersal system that Greider
wrote about during Reagan’s big spree.
Ultimately,
it means that the dreaded Military-Industrial Complex isn’t just a
shadowy cabal manipulating policies against the will of the American
people. Nor is the “racket” exclusive to an elite group of Deep
State swamp things. Instead, the military and the vast economic
network it feeds presents a far more “complex” issue that
involves millions of self-interested Americans in much the way
Eisenhower predicted, but few are willing to truly forsake.
