The
Guardian bracht afgelopen donderdag het bericht dat 2 Twitteraccounts
niet tot echte mensen behoorden, maar door Russische bot’s werden aangestuurd (of zoals
je wilt: door geautomatiseerde software) werden bediend.
In
die Twitterberichten werd de ‘gifgasaanval’ in Douma neergezet als
een vals bericht (niet een ‘false flag’, dat zou een wel gepleegde
gifgasaanval zijn, die in de schoenen van bijvoorbeeld Assads bewind
werd geschoven, iets dat overigens meermaals wel is gebeurd in Syrië, zoals bij de grote gifgasaanval van 2013…)…..
De
eigenaren van de accounts, wel degelijk bestaande personen, hebben zich kenbaar gemaakt en nee, het gaat niet om de gebruikelijke en spreekwoordelijke zwart gemaakte Russische schapen…..
Ondanks
dat The Guardian op de hoogte is van het gelogen bericht, weigert dit
dagblad te rectificeren en het bewuste artikel te verwijderen van het
internet…….
Lees
het volgende artikel van Caitlin Johnstone over een dagblad dat de mond vol
heeft met de woorden ‘fake news’, waar het zelf fake news (of: nepnieuws) brengt, fake news dat
de bevolking op moet zetten tegen Syrië en Rusland……. Waar de waarheid over de
‘gifgasaanval’, namelijk dat deze niet bestaand was en is, wordt geweigerd door The Guardian en de redactie deze zelfs weigert ook maar als mogelijkheid te zien……. ‘Niet vreemd dus’ dat The Guardian de leugen over Russische bots niet wenst te rectificeren, een herhaling van de enorme berg leugens over de Russische bemoeienis met de presidentsverkiezingen in de VS……
Johnstone stelt terecht dat het niet toegeven van fouten (fouten die de politieke situatie verdedigen, dus het illegaal oorlogvoeren in gebieden waar in dit geval GB niets te zoeken heeft) geen probleem is, sterker nog: met het toegeven van dit soort fouten zou men niet alleen de politiek tegen de haren instrijken, maar ook de eigenaar (of eigenaren) van The Guardian, een dagblad dat zich de laatste paar jaar heeft ontpopt als oorlogshitser…….. Dezelfde Guardian die na Douma stelde: “After Douma, the west’s response to Syria’s regime must be military….” En dat voor een mediaorgaan dat zegt onafhankelijk te zijn…….
The
Guardian Is Committing Journalistic Malpractice By Not Retracting
This Claim
On
the 19th of April, The
Guardian published
an article making the positive assertion that two Twitter accounts
were run not by real people, but by automated
bot software based
in Russia. Since the article was published, the owners of both
accounts have stepped forward, on video, demonstrating in no
uncertain terms that they are in fact real human beings and not
software programs.
As
of this writing, days later, there has been neither retraction nor
correction of the false claims made by The
Guardian,
and the
articleremains as
published.
The
article’s author, Heather Stewart, makes the following claim:
“One
bot, @Ian56789,
was sending 100 posts a day during a 12-day period from 7 April, and
reached 23 million users, before the account was suspended. It
focused on claims that the chemical weapons attack on Douma had been
falsified, using the hashtag #falseflag.
Another, @Partisangirl,
reached 61 million users with 2,300 posts over the same 12-day
period.”
Stewart
explicitly asserts that the Twitter account @Ian56789 is
a bot. That account’s owner appeared
for an interview on Sky
News,
completely disproving this assertion. Stewart also names the Twitter
account @Partisangirl as
a bot account. The account’s owner, Maram Susli, is a well-known
Syrian-Australian activist with many
publicly available videos and
a Wikipedia
page.
This
is an extremely egregious case of journalistic malpractice. A
demonstrable falsehood has been published about two individuals, the
information has been publicly available for days, and there has been
no correction or retraction from a trusted mainstream news source.
When confronted with the obvious and undeniable falsehoods in her
story, Heather Stewart tweeted,
“It’s not my analysis – as the piece makes quite clear – it’s
the government’s.”
Wow.
There’s a lot going on in those thirteen words. First of all, a
journalist’s most important job is to question government power and
hold it to account. The fact that mainstream British journos are now
defending the unquestioning advancement of demonstrably false smears
by saying that’s what the government told them to say should disturb
everyone, and the fact that they’re not even correcting it at all is
positively bone-chilling. Even after admitting to being a government
stenographer, there should still be a correction after a claim’s
demonstrably false nature comes to light.
Secondly,
Stewart’s wording explicitly asserts that those accounts are bots as
an absolute fact. It doesn’t say “One alleged bot, @Ian56789,”
it says “One bot”. It doesn’t say “Another account the
British government has labeled a bot, @Partisangirl,”
it asserts that the account is a
bot. Stewart took the British government at its word, repeated what
she was told as absolute fact, and published it in a very widely read
and trusted news outlet, which has refused to retract or correct the
claim.
This
is because both The
Guardian and
and Stewart know that in today’s political environment there are
never any consequences for these McCarthyite hatchet jobs. It is much
better for them to ignore those speaking dissenting perspectives than
to publicly admit error, because those who question the narratives
which benefit longstanding imperialist agendas do not have power on
their side. The
Guardian has
arguably become in recent years the single most virulent promulgator
of war propaganda on the planet, and it is protected by the might of
the western empire. Those who get crushed into the dirt by its tank
treads, not so much.
The
legendary Australian journalist John Pilger, whose work on the evils
of war and imperialism has been an inspiration for generations of
journalists like myself, stated in an interview earlier this year
that there was a “purge” of antiwar writers from The
Guardian some
three years ago.
“But
my written journalism is no longer welcome – probably its last home
was The
Guardian,
which three years ago got rid of people like me and others in pretty
much a purge of those who were saying what The
Guardian no
longer says anymore,” Pilger said on
the Flashpoint radio
show.
This
is not healthy, and this is not acceptable. But in a way it’s good
that these brazen war propagandists are exposing themselves so
completely, because we can point at what they are doing and present
clear evidence of a mass media campaign to manufacture support for
a longstanding
regime change agenda,
thereby shattering the faith that people have placed in these
deceitful institutions. Hopefully we can do it before they do much
more harm.

Na veel vertraging heeft de Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) afgelopen zaterdag monsters genomen in Douma op de plek waar een gifgasaanval zou hebben plaatsgevonden. De missie wordt geëvalueerd door de OPCW en het United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), een VN organisatie die voor de veiligheid van het OPCW team zorgt, waarna men wellicht zal beslissen het onderzoek nog eens te herhalen.
Uitlatingen van westerse politici zoals de Franse opperhufter Macron en de reguliere westerse media, als zouden Syrië en Rusland het onderzoeksteam expres hebben vertraagd, werden tegengesproken, de vertraging had alles te maken met de inschatting van de veiligheid door het UNDSS team……..
Voorts zouden Rusland en Syrië ‘de plaats delict’ hebben gemanipuleerd en zaken hebben verwijderd dan wel verborgen, aldus dezelfde westerse politici en media. Dat heeft de OPCW intussen weersproken, ofwel ook dit was (alweer) valse anti-Syrische/Russische propaganda……..
Macron en de media spelen wel een heel smerig spel in deze, uitlatingen dat Rusland en Syrië de zaak zouden hebben vertraagd, was al een enorme leugen, daar de VN Veiligheidsraad met meerderheid van stemmen besloot tegen een onderzoek door de OPCW te stemmen!! (een onderzoek waar nu juist Rusland en Syrië op aan hadden gedrongen….) De OPCW besloot zelfstandig een onderzoek te starten en als dit orgaan deze beslissing niet had genomen, was er nog niets gebeurd……….. Zoals gezegd: Als je de reguliere media (plus het grootste deel van de westerse politici) moest geloven waren het Syrië en Rusland die tegen een onderzoek waren, dezelfde media en politici die zo’n grote bek hebben over ‘fake news’, maar zoals ook uit deze zaak blijkt, zelf de grote leveranciers zijn van ‘fake news’ (of ‘nepnieuws’)……..
Beste lezer het gaat nog veel verder: de Franse president Macron en de Britse premier May logen na de ‘gifgasaanval’ over onomstotelijke bewijzen te beschikken, maar gaven deze niet vrij. Dezelfde Macron beweert nu dat Rusland en Syrië de zaak hebben verdoezeld in Douma, echter wat maakt dat uit, als je toch onomstotelijk bewijs hebt dat het Syrische bewind de schuldige is???? (en dan nogmaals: van manipulaties op de plaats waar de aanval plaatsvond is niets gebleken, zo heeft de OPCW vastgesteld……)
Intussen hebben meerdere bronnen gemeld dat er in het geheel geen gifgasaanval heeft plaatsgevonden in Douma, iets dat de toenadering tussen de VS en Rusland kan verklaren, immers in de VS zal men intussen wel begrepen hebben dat de aanval van de VS, Frankrijk en GB op Syrische doelen na de zogenaamde gifgasaanval, nooit had mogen plaatsvinden, ofwel dat was de zoveelste enorme oorlogsmisdaad van de VS en een paar van haar NAVO partners, de NAVO dat in feite onder opperbevel van de VS staat………..

Trouwens ongelofelijk dat je vanuit de reguliere westerse media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, nooit commentaar hoort op het feit dat de door hen zo geliefde ‘gematigde rebellen’ (psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters en martelbeulen) beschikken over gifgas, terwijl al lang bewezen is dat deze terreurgroepen daadwerkelijk gifgas hebben gebruikt, zoals bij de grote gifgasaanval in 2013, zo concludeerde zelfs een VN onderzoeksteam!! (nog steeds zegt men keihard in de westerse politiek en media dat deze aanval door het Assad bewind werd uitgevoerd…….)

Chemical Inspection Team Reaches Douma After Issuing Statement
Negating “Russia Cover-Up” Claim
After
many days of delay inside the security arch of Damascus’ city center,
the international chemical weapons watchdog group, Organisation
for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), announced that its
team of investigators finally
entered the Damascus suburb town of Douma early on Saturday.
In
an official statement posted to its website, the OPCW confirmed the
following:
The
Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) team of the Organisation for the
Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) visited one of the sites in
Douma, Syrian Arab Republic today to
collect samples for analysis in connection with allegations of
chemical weapons use on 7 April 2018. The
OPCW will evaluate the situation and consider future steps including
another possible visit to Douma.
The
OPCW Fact-Finding Mission will initially study the collected samples
at an OPCW lab in the Netherlands, with potential sample distribution
to its other designated labs. In the past, it’s take up to multiple
weeks or months for the OPCW to issue a preliminary report to the
public.
The
samples collected will be transported to the OPCW Laboratory in
Rijswijk and then dispatched for analysis to the OPCW’s designated
labs. Based
on the analysis of the sample results as well other information and
materials collected by the team, the FFM will compile their report
for submission to the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons
Convention for their consideration.
It
is unclear if any of what was collected includes tissue samples from
corpses as it’s now being widely reported that the jihadist group
which previously held the area – Jaish al-Islam – hastily
buried the bodies of
alleged chemical attack victims.
Though
the team was invited into the country by the Syrian and Russian
governments – both
signatories to
the international body devoted to decommissioning global stockpiles
of banned chemical weapons – there’s
been much spin and obfuscation regarding why the team was actually
delayed, with a number of media outlets in the West falsely claiming
that Syria and Russia were attempting
a cover-up.
This
was based in part on the unverified claims of political leaders in
the West who have long sought Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s
ouster, and who have given covert aid to various jihadist rebel
groups.
France’s
foreign minister, for example, accused
both Damascus and Russia of “obstructionism
[which] is obviously undermining the caliber of the investigation. It
is most likely aimed at removing evidence and other material elements
linked to the chemical attack on the very site where it took place.”
However,
in spite of multiple international headlines, Western leaders, and
journalists who reside far outside of Syria claiming
a chemical cover-up conspiracy in the making,
the OPCW in official statements confirmed
that they were prevented from visiting Douma not by Syrian or Russian
authorities, but by United Nations Department of Safety and
Security (UNDSS), which has the final say over OPCW movements within
Syria.
On
16 April, we received confirmation from the National Authority of the
Syrian Arab Republic that, under agreements reached to allow the
evacuation of the population in Ghouta, the Syrian military were
unable to enter Douma. The security for the sites where the FFM plans
to deploy was under the control of the Russian Military Police. The
United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) has made the
necessary arrangements with the Syrian authorities to escort the team
to a certain point and then for the escort to be taken over by the
Russian Military Police. However,
the UNDSS preferred to first conduct a reconnaissance visit to the
sites, which took place yesterday. FFM team members did not
participate in this visit.
On
arrival at Site 1, a large crowd gathered and the advice provided by
the UNDSS was that the
reconnaissance team should withdraw. At Site 2, the team came under
small arms fire and an explosive was detonated. The reconnaissance
team returned to Damascus.
Though
the OPCW statement further acknowledged the area to be a “highly
volatile environment” fraught with “security risks” –
a number of journalists actually made it into Douma early in the week
prior to the OPCW team’s arrival.
Zoals
gewoonlijk maken wapenfabrikanten enorme winsten door oorlogen en ellende in ‘conflictgebieden’ (vooral gebieden waar de VS haar grootschalige terreur uitoefent…)…. Gelukkig heeft Atkins, de schrijver van het hieronder
opgenomen artikel van MintPress News (MPN), gekeken naar de winsten
die wapenfabrikanten maakten n.a.v. de illegale aanval met kruisraketten op
Syrische doelen door de VS, GB en Frankrijk, uitgevoerd in de nacht
van vrijdag 13 op zaterdag 14 april….
Het
gaat hier dan alleen nog om wapenfabrikanten die contracten hebben
met het ministerie van illegale oorlogen in de VS…… Houd je vast: de aandelen van
de fabrikanten (die mede de gebruikte kruisraketten fabriceerden), stegen na deze illegale aanvallen met maar liefst 10 miljard dollar….!!!
Uiteraard ging de olieprijs ook omhoog en profiteerden de oplichters
van de oliemaffia (de grote oliebedrijven) evenzeer van deze
oorlogshandelingen, immers er dreigde door deze aanval een grootschalige oorlog met Rusland en zoals je begrijpt: voor oorlogsvoering is een enorme hoeveelheid benzine, diesel, stookolie en kerosine nodig……… Vorige week maandag zakten deze koersen weer enigszins toen bleek dat Rusland, zoals gewoonlijk de laatste jaren, wel haar
verstand gebruikte en niet de strijd aanging met terreurentiteiten VS, GB en
Frankrijk……..
Zo
zie je maar, er is een enorme groep mensen (vooral aandeelhouders en de top van wapenfabrieken) die profiteert van oorlogen en de enorme ellende onder de bevolkingen die deze moeten doorstaan…….. Waar de wapenfabrikanten in de VS ook nog eens de republikeinen steunen, die tegen de opname zijn van ook maar 1 vluchteling uit door de VS in oorlog gedompelde landen……
De hoogste tijd dat wapenfabrikanten worden aangeklaagd bij het internationaal strafhof (ICC), daar zij in feite de medeverantwoordelijken zijn voor het enorme aantal doden, waar de VS alleen deze eeuw al verantwoordelijk voor is, intussen meer dan 20 miljoen (moorden…)……
Since
President Trump announced that he intended to bomb Syria, the stock
values of some of the country’s top weapons manufacturers have
soared, adding a collective $10 billion in market capitalization
values over the course of just one week. With Trump delivering on his
promise this weekend, the rally on Wall Street continues.
A
barrage of 118 (or more) U.S. Tomahawk cruise missiles rained down on
Syria Friday night—Trump’s punishment for the alleged chemical
weapons attack carried out by Bashar al-Assad’s government in Douma
(for which the world is still awaiting hard evidence). Trump’s
tweet on April 9 that he would be taking action against Syria
launched the stock prices of some of America’s major defense
suppliers into the skies, and they are still climbing.
For
Raytheon (RTN),
the company which manufactures the Tomahawk cruise missiles used
against Syria, nearly $2.5 billion has been added to the company’s
market value. Add together the gains from other top weapons makers
Lockheed Martin (LMT),
General Dynamics (GD),
Boeing (BA),
and Northrop Grumman (NOC),
and it becomes apparent just how profitable a business war can be.
Lockheed
Martin makes the tactical control system, another of the required
components of the Tomahawk launch apparatus. General Dynamics,
meanwhile, manufactures the missile’s firing system. Boeing builds
the B-1 bombers used in the strikes as well as its own variety of
cruise missiles, while Northrop Grumman produces radar systems and
other bombers, like the B-2 Stealth.
The
investor crowd was giddy about the money-making opportunities last
week. On the stock tip blog “The Street” on Friday, trader
Stephen Guilfoyle was recommending “4
Hot Defense Stocks for Syria,”
telling his readers, “The world remains dangerous, and dangerous
‘toys’ are increasingly in demand.”
For
the American people, the immediate cost of subsidizing the profits of
war was at least $165
million—just
for the Tomahawk missiles themselves, which cost the government $1.4
million each. This, of course, doesn’t account for the tens of
millions of dollars or more that it cost to mobilize the equipment
and forces necessary to carry out the air strikes.
Even
though this round of strikes is being spun as a one-night affair, it
is actually part of a sustained campaign in Syria and across the
Middle East aimed at protecting U.S. dominance against the growth of
Iranian and Russian influence. Almost exactly a year ago, there was a
round of air strikes on Syria over another alleged chemical attack,
and U.S. troops have been on the ground inside the country since late
2015.
With
known war-hawks now holding prominent positions in the
cabinet—including John Bolton as National Security Advisor, Mike
Pompeo as Secretary of State, and Gina Haspel as head of the CIA—the
likelihood that this weekend’s missile strikes were a one-off event
are next to nil. All three of these figures were connected with the
disastrous war in Iraq under George W. Bush, which was justified by
the need to eliminate Saddam Hussein’s “weapons of mass
destruction”—weapons which didn’t actually exist.
Meanwhile,
the party on Wall Street carries on, with the promise of even
brighter days ahead for defense contractors. Immediately following
the bombing, Trump pledged “billions of fully approved dollars”
in additional military spending on Saturday morning. Speaking of the
U.S. military’s overwhelming power in the world, he continued,
saying, “There won’t be anything, or anyone, even close!” That
is exactly what this weekend’s air strikes were intended to tell
the world.

Guy Verhofstadt, o.a. ex-premier van België en neoliberaal in de (neo-) liberale EU fractie, wil liever vandaag dan morgen een oppermachtige EU, een EU met eigen ministeries, dus inclusief een justitieel apparaat en uiteraard…. een EU leger!
Zo denkt ‘onze’ Guy een mooie nieuwe orde op te kunnen tuigen in de vorm van een EU parlement ‘dat doet wat goed is voor de onwetende EU burgers’ (lees: inzet voor de grote bedrijven en de welgestelden), dus met zo veel mogelijk macht, waarbij ongehoorzame lidstaten desnoods met een politiemacht tot de orde kunnen worden geroepen en mocht dat niet lukken, met een leger bij de les kan worden gehouden….. Zeg maar zoals de Spaanse premier en fascistische autocraat Rajoy omgaat met Catalonië en de in feite politieke leider daar, de gevluchte Puigdemont……. Ofwel Verhofstadt wil een nieuwe regentenmaatschappij, een klassenmaatschappij 2.0 (die al voor een groot deel is opgebouwd, ook in Nederland…) met zo min mogelijk zeggenschap voor het plebs…….
Hoe durft deze flapdrol op basis van leugens ook nog eens een EU leger te eisen? Terwijl diverse EU bevolkingen de laatste jaren hebben laten weten vooral niet te willen dat de EU meer macht krijgt, integendeel: zij vinden dat de EU al teveel macht heeft en beste bezoeker, daarin hebben ze het grootste gelijk! Immers wij moeten dansen naar de pijpen van Brussel, zoals een veel te lage bankenbuffer (3%…. ha! ha! ha! ha!), die binnen niet al te lange tijd veel te laag zal blijken te zijn daar er gegarandeerd een nieuwe crisis zal ontstaan (zo worden er weer hele pakketten slechte leningen verhandeld en lopen de schuldenlasten hoog op, zo heeft Nederland een veel te hoge hypotheekschuld, intussen alweer meer dan 700 miljard, terwijl de werkelijke waarde van huizen een enorm stuk lager ligt…….)….
Bovendien zijn de EU voorschriften voor bijvoorbeeld het milieu volkomen ontoereikend, maar ja wat wil je, de oliemaatschappijen hebben een machtige lobby in Brussel en die spenderen daar niets voor niets hele kapitalen aan……. Of wat dacht je van de luchtkwaliteit, ondanks dat de EU richtlijnen al veel te slap zijn, zit Nederland daar ook nog eens fiks boven (we hebben de bijna slechtste luchtkwaliteit van alle EU lidstaten), iets waar de EU al jaren niets tegen onderneemt…….
Nee de EU is goed in het volkomen uitwringen van bevolkingen wier opvolgende corrupte regeringen in een één tweetje met de banken veel te veel geld hebben geleend, neem Griekenland…….. Niet de politici werden gestraft, niet de banken werden gestraft, maar de grote onderlaag in die schuldenlanden moest en moet het gelag betalen……. (daarover gesproken: waarom heeft de EU niet al lang een bovengrens aan de beloning van bankiers ingevoerd..??? Oh ja, de EU parlementariërs verdienen zelf al een achterlijk hoog inkomen; dom van mij….)
Verhofstadt wil een EU leger, zodat we naast de NAVO ook mee kunnen doen aan acties tegen zaken, die van leugens aan elkaar hangen, ofwel illegaal op grote schaal terreur uitoefenen zoals de VS, GB en Frankrijk vorige week hebben gedaan n.a.v. de ‘gifgasaanval’ op het Syrische Douma….
De hoogste tijd dat Verhofstadt zich bij een (goede) psychiater meldt, hij begint gevaarlijke trekjes te vertonen…….
De woordvoerder
van het Russische ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, Maria Zakharova
maakte afgelopen donderdag bekend dat er in het bevrijde gebied van Oost-Ghouta
o.a. containers met chlorine zijn gevonden……. Deze containers behoorden tot
de wapenvoorraden van Jaysh al-Islam (leger van de islam), een
zogenaamde gematigde rebellen groep, maar zoals je waarschijnlijk al
begreep, die niets maar dan ook helemaal niets met ‘gematigd’ te maken
heeft, de groep (zoals de andere ‘gematigde rebellen in Syrië) bestaat uit psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters en
martelbeulen……………..
Volgens
Zakharova komen de chlorine containers uit Duitsland (dat volgens mij
geen gifgas op voorraad mag hebben……) en de rookgranaten komen
uit GB……. Duitsland en Groot-Brittannië, twee van de landen die
zich eerder scherp uitspraken tegen Syrië n.a.v. de ‘gifgasaanval’ in Douma……. Waar GB samen met de VS en Frankrijk vorige
week,in de nacht van vrijdag op zaterdag, een illegale aanval uitvoerden op Syrische doelen, dit vanwege de zogenaamde
gifgasaanval van reguliere Syrische troepen op Douma, iets waar geen
nanometer bewijs voor is……..
Het

Russian
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated during a Thursday
press conference that containers filled with chlorine from Germany
and smoke bombs manufactured in the United Kingdom city of Salisbury
were found in the East Ghouta region of Damascus, the location of the
alleged chemical attack by Assad which resulted in the launch of 105
Tomahawks on 3 Syrian targets by US, UK and French forces last
Friday.
Russian
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova
“In
the liberated areas of Eastern Ghouta, Syrian government troops have
found containers with chlorine – the most horrible kind of chemical
weapons – from Germany, and also smoke grenades produced – please
pay attention to this – in the city of Salisbury, the UK,”
Zakharova told a news conference in Moscow on Thursday.
The
findings undermine “the faith in humaneness” of some states’
leadership, who “give such orders and make such decisions,”
Zakharova added. No further details were released regarding this
finding.
Of
course, western leaders’ have alleged, if without demonstrating
proof, that the Syrian government was behind the Douma attack based
on “open sources”, YouTube video clips and other information on
social media, including the reports of the so-called civil defense
group, the White Helmets. The group is believed to be linked to
militants and operates in the areas under their control.
Last
week’s airstrike occurred just ahead of the arrival of
an Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)
fact-finding mission tasked with establishing whether any chemical
attack had taken place. The team of chemical-watchdog experts still
can’t reach the site of the purported attack, as militants have
hampered their work, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister
Mikhail Bogdanov.
Zero
Hedge bracht een artikel van Tyler Durden waarin deze de
berichtgeving rond de ‘gifgasaanval’ in het Syrische Douma door The
Guardian onder de spreekwoordelijke loep nam.
De
conclusie is niet misselijk: de berichtgeving in The Guardian zou zo
weggelopen kunnen zijn uit het boek 1984 van George Orwell.
Zaken
worden op zo’n manier gebracht dat de argeloze lezer maar één
conclusie kan trekken: Assad heeft een massamoord begaan, niet alleen
in Douma maar in heel Oost-Ghouta…. Voorts zou Rusland dat hebben gesteund en hebben meegeholpen…… Waar Syrië al sinds de oorlog daar begon werd en wordt gedemoniseerd, dit door een door de VS en een aantal partners georganiseerde opstand, waar de eerste onderhandelingen tot het omverwerpen van het Assad regime al van 2006 dateren (daar zijn bewijzen voor, o.a. te vinden in Wikileaks!)
Ook
het woordgebruik interesseert Durden, jammer genoeg zijn deze
moeilijk te vertalen, zoals het verschil tussen de Engelse werkwoorden
‘purifying’ en ‘clearing’, waar de eerste makkelijk kan aangeven dat
men een plek heeft gezuiverd van plaagdieren en de tweede aan kan
geven dat een plek is vrijgemaakt van terroristen. Ja, ik weet ‘t,
dit laat zich niet zo makkelijk vertalen, echter daar komt het wel op
neer, zo wordt de eerste, dus ‘purifying’ gebruikt voor de
handelswijze van het legitieme, democratisch gekozen regime in Syrië,
ofwel Syrië heeft Oost-Ghouta gezuiverd van ongedierte en dat doet
men veelal middels vergassing……. (overigens legt Durden een enigszins ander verband)
Nogmaals
wijst Durden op de weigering van de VS en haar westerse hielenlikkers
om de OPCW in te schakelen voor een onafhankelijk onderzoek naar de gifgasaanval in Douma, iets waar Syrië
en Rusland op aandrongen. Gelukkig besloot de OPCW zelfstandig een
onderzoek in te stellen……. Kijk dat is toch een heel ander
verhaal dan ons door de reguliere media en het grootste deel van de politiek door de strot werd geduwd:
Syrië en Rusland weigeren een onderzoek naar de ‘gifgasaanval’ in
Douma! (en dat op een manier en frequentie die zich het best laat vergelijken met hersenspoelen….)
How
The Guardian Fulfills George Orwell’s Prediction Of ‘Newspeak’
On
Sunday April 15th, Britain’s Guardian bannered “OPCW
inspectors set to investigate site of Douma chemical attack” and
pretended that there was no question that a chemical attack in Douma
Syria on April 7th had actually occurred, and
the article then went further along that same propaganda-line, to
accuse Syria’s Government of having perpetrated it. This ‘news’
story opened [and clarificatory comments from me will added in
brackets]:
UN
chemical weapons investigators were set on Sunday to begin examining
the scene of a chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, which had
prompted the joint US, French and British strikes against military
installations and chemical weapons facilities near the capital,
Damascus.
The
arrival of the delegation from the Organisation for the Prohibition
of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) came as the Syrian military announced that
it had “purified” [no source provided, but this — from
7 March 2018—is
the only source that existed prior to the April 14th
missiles-invasion of Syria, and its meaning is very
different: the
region of eastern Ghouta, of which Douma is a part, after a two-month
campaign that killed nearly 2,000 civilians [no source provided as
regards either the number, or that all of them were ‘civilians’
and that none of them were jihadists or “terrorists”],
following years of siege.
The
propaganda-article continued directly:
“Units
of our brave armed forces, and auxiliary and allied forces, completed
the purification of eastern Ghouta, including all its towns and
villages, of armed terrorist organisations,” the general command
statement said.
In
other words: the Guardian’s ‘journalist’ had substituted the
word “clear” by the word “purify” and did this after having
already asserted but not documented, that the Government had just
completed “a two-month campaign that killed nearly 2,000
civilians.”
When
the Syrian Government announces that an area has been “cleared of
terrorists (or of terrorism),” the US-allied propagandist uses the
word “purify,” such as “purified the region of eastern Ghouta”
or “the purification of eastern Ghouta, including all its towns
and villages, of armed terrorist organisations.”
But
by the time that the reader gets there to “purification … of
armed terrorist organisations,” the
reader has already been indoctrinated to believe that Syria’s
Government is trying to “purify” land,
or perpetrate some type of ethnic-cleansing.
Later,
the article asserts that,
“The OPCW mission
will arrive in Douma eight days after the chemical attack, and days
after the area fell to the control of Russian military and Syrian
government forces. That delay, along with the possibility of the
tampering of evidence by the forces accused of perpetrating the
attack, raises doubts about what the OPCW’s inspectors might be
able to discover.”
However,
a fierce debate is being waged over whether this was not any real
“chemical attack” but instead a staged event by the jihadists in
order to draw Trump back into invading Syria. In
other words: any journalistic reference yet, at this time, to the
event as “the chemical attack” instead of as “the alleged
chemical attack” is garbage, just as, prior to the
guilty-verdict in a murder trial, no journalistic reference may
legitimately be made to the defendant as “the murderer,” instead
of as “the defendant.” That is lynch-mob ‘journalism’,
which Joseph Goebbels championed.
The
Joseph-Goebbels-following ‘journalist’ has thus opened by
implying that the Russia-allied Syrian Government is trying to crush
a democratic revolution, instead of the truth, that the US-allied
Governments are trying to overthrow and replace the Russia-allied
Syrian Government.
It’s
a big difference, between the lie, and the truth.
Furthermore,
as regards “press for inquiry into chemical weapons
stockpiles,” the
real and urgent issue right now is to allow the Organization for the
Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) into Douma to hold an
independent and authoritative investigation into the evidence
there.Russia
pressed for it at the U.N. Security Council and the US and its allies
blocked it there. But
the OPCW went anyway — even after the US-allied invasion on April
14th — and this courageous resistance by them against the
US dictatorship can
only be considered heroic.
That
type of ‘news’-reporting is virtually universal in The West,
among the US and its allied governments, which
refer to themselves as ‘democracies’ and refer to any Government
that they wish to overthrow and replace by their own selected
dictator, as ‘dictatorships’, such as these regimes had referred
to Iraq in 2003, Libya in 2011, Syria forever, and Ukraine in 2014.
PS:
gezien het voorgaande is het niet vreemd dat de VS toenadering heeft
gezocht tot Rusland, zoals vannacht bekend werd gemaakt, immers snel
zal blijken dat er geen gifgasaanval heeft plaatsgevonden in
Douma….. Reken maar dat wanneer de VS nog steeds van het
tegenovergestelde overtuigd was, de Trump administratie een toenadering tussen Rusland en de VS had afgewezen……. Trouwens ook hierover wordt weer volop gelogen in de media, als zou Putin eindelijk de redelijkheid van het westen in deze inzien…….. Alsof Rusland tot nu toe elk overleg heeft afgewezen, een smerige leugen…. Sterker nog: zoals eerder op deze plek betoogd: met de VS in de omgekeerde rol, waren we waarschijnlijk al in een enorme oorlog verwikkeld geweest, neem het neerschieten van een Russische jager, of de massamoord op 100 Russische vrijwilligers, die aan de kant van het Syrisch leger meevochten, dan wel de aanval op een Russische tank…….. Het is aan Putin te danken dat deze en andere zaken niet tot een oorlog (WOIII) hebben geleid!
Na
veel gezeur van de VS en haar partners in de VN Veiligheidsraad, waar
men aanvankelijk een door de Russen gevraagd onafhankelijk onderzoek
afwees, zijn afgelopen zondag de VN wapeninspecteurs van de OPCW
aangekomen in Syrië, echter gisteren waren ze nog steeds niet
aangekomen in Douma, de plek waar volgens terreurgroep Jaysh al-Islam
(het leger van de islam) en hun helpers van de White Helmets een
gifgasaanval werd gepleegd…..*
Er is al wel een beveiligingsteam van de VN aanwezig in Douma en gisteren zou het OPCW team zijn gearriveerd in die stad, althans dat was de bedoeling. In Nederlandse media wordt overigens gemeld dat de wapeninspecteurs van de OPCW al in Douma aanwezig zijn, echter daar kan ik internationaal geen bevestiging voor vinden (men spreekt elkaar tegen).
Het ziet ernaar uit dat de berichtgeving op Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten het bij het rechte eind heeft: de VN missie die voorafgaand aan de OPCW missie naar Douma trok is beschoten door achterbleven terroristen van Jaysh al-Islam (zoals eerder gebeurde na de bevrijding van andere Syrische steden) en daarom de OPCW deskundigen in Damascus afwachten tot de ‘kust veilig is’.
Het voorgaande in acht genomen zou de stelling van de Syrische ambassadeur bij de VN, Bashar Jaafari, bevestigen, als zou de VN de OPCW inspecteurs tegen hebben gehouden verder te gaan vanwege veiligheidsproblemen…….. Het is zeker dat Syrië en Rusland er geen belang bij hebben deze inspecteurs ook maar een strobreed in de weg te leggen, immers zij hebben er alle belang bij dat er zo snel mogelijk wordt vastgesteld wat er werkelijk is gebeurd in Douma (géén gifgasaanval!).
Daarover
gesproken: één ding is zeker: de VS, GB en Frankrijk hebben totaal geen belang bij onderzoek, immers de uitkomst pakt negatief voor hen uit, waarmee hun illegale aanval op Syrische doelen door de rest van de wereld als een grote oorlogsmisdaad zal worden gezien (uiteraard gebeurt dit niet in het westen, waar men zelfs de illegale oorlog van de VS in 2003 tegen Irak nog durft te verdedigen….)…… Gezien dat feit is het niet vreemd dat de
wapeninspecteurs zo lang mogelijk niet aan de slag mogen gaan in Douma….. Zodat men kan zeggen dat Syrië en Rusland het bewijs hebben verdonkeremaand dan wel zodanig hebben gemanipuleerd dat er geen sporen meer te vinden zijn……..
We worden op onze wenken bediend: intussen
beschuldigt de VS Rusland al van het achterover drukken van
bewijsmateriaal…….. De VS ging zelfs zover om vooraf al te stellen dat dit onderzoek totaal overbodig is, daar Rusland de boel zou hebben gemanipuleerd…… ha! ha! ha! ha! Als er één land is dat de boel continu manipuleert is dat de VS wel, de ene false flag operatie na de andere, dit naast: -het illegaal oorlogvoeren in meerdere landen (veelal op basis van zo’n false flag operatie), -het inbreken op de computers van regeringen in andere landen (waaronder de eigen bondgenoten), -het opzetten van opstanden, staatsgrepen enz, enz…!!
Het achterover drukken van bewijs en schoonmaken van de plaats delict door Syrië en Rusland >> alsof een dergelijke grootschalige schoonmaak van de plaats delict niet op zou vallen…… Belachelijk!! (het zou een grote schoonmaak moeten zijn, als je de ‘getuigenissen’ en zogenaamde bewijzen van terreurgroepen Jaysh al-Islam, de White Helmets, de VS, GB en Frankrijk, plus het grootste deel van de reguliere westerse media moet geloven)
Intussen
is er een hele stapel argumenten, o.a. onderbouwd met getuigenissen,
die het zogenaamde bewijs van de VS, GB en Frankrijk onderuit
halen…… GB en Frankrijk zeggen bewijzen te hebben, maar weigeren
die openbaar te maken…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Of we dat maar gewoon
willen geloven, immers de opvolgende regeringen van deze landen
‘hebben zich nooit bezig gehouden met het verspreiden van
leugens…..’ (wel dus en op een enorm aantal momenten in de recente
geschiedenis! Neem alleen al de illegale oorlogen tegen Irak, Libië en…. Syrië! Al denkt men de laatste te kunnen legitimeren door o.a. het gifgasgebruik in de schoenen te schuiven van het reguliere Syrische leger…. Terwijl tot nu toe alle gifgasaanvallen zijn toegeschreven aan de terreurgroepen in Syrië (zelfs door de VN), terreurgroepen die het westen steunt en liefkozend ‘gematigde rebellen’ noemt en waar het westen geen probleem heeft dat deze ‘rebellen’ bewezen gifgas in het bezit hebben…..)
Are
Chemical Weapons Inspectors Investigating Anything in Syria?
(ANTIWAR.COM) — Syrian
Ambassador Bashar Jaafari told
the UN Security Council on Tuesday that
a UN security team has entered the city of Douma. The inspectors from
the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) are
scheduled to visit on Wednesday.
The
OPCW inspectors did not visit Monday, and there were a lot
of allegations exchanged
as to why. The Syrian Ambassador’s comment appears to lend credence
to Syria’s previous claim that UN security concerns prevented the
visit.
British
officials had claimed Russia and Syria were preventing the visit.
Earlier this month, there were allegations of a chemical weapons
strike against Douma. There is no public proof that the strike took
place, and a mounting amount of doubt
that it didn’t, driven by inquiries from Robert Fisk.
Residents within Douma have also expressed doubts about the strike.
OAN
investigators weren’t able to confirm any evidence of a chemical
weapons attack on Douma. To the extent that investigations are
happening, they suggest there was no chemical strike.
Clearly,
Douma was attacked by Syrian forces on that day, and the day prior.
Those strikes, however, were insisted by the Syrian government
to be purely conventional strikes. There is little to suggest
anything else, beyond claims from the White Helmets, and Western
nations claiming to have secret proof.
Syria
and Russia have both denied from the start that the attack took
place, and they have believed the OPCW visit would reveal the truth.
Russia in particular was pushing for an investigation to take place
before any rash action against Syria. Ultimately, US-led attacks on
Syria happened Friday night.
The
US seems to be anticipating the OPCW probe not going their way,
and is
already accusing Syria and Russia of plotting to tamper with the
site.
There’s no evidence of tampering of any kind. The US suggestion was
based on the fact that Russian military police visited the site. The
visit, however, was done days ago, and Russia said it was meant to
deter the West from attacking Douma and destroying evidence.
Since
the US, Britain, and France already attacked Syria, they have little
reason to want the OPCW visit to be successful. They clearly weren’t
interested in getting the facts before the strike, and facts that
don’t support their narrative could be very embarrassing.
* De gifgasaanvallen worden overigens o.a. ontkend door veel oorspronkelijke bewoners van Douma….. Met de nadruk op ‘oorspronkelijk’, zo hoorde ik op BBC World Service het geklaag van ‘bewoners uit Douma’, allen man, waar dezen Syrië van alles en nog wat beschuldigden, terwijl zij met de terroristen van Jaysh al-Islam (‘het leger van de islam’) naar het noorden zijn afgereisd, m.a.w. deze figuren behoren tot deze terreurgroep….. De terreurgroep Jaysh al-Islam plus de White Helmets, de ondersteuners van Jaysh al-Islam, Al Qaida Syrië (eind vorig jaar door de VS van de terreurlijst of zwarte lijst gehaald…) en andere terreurgroepen, mochten van Syrië en Rusland vertrekken uit Oost-Ghouta met medeneming van hun lichte wapens. Zij zijn naar het noorden van Syrië vertrokken. Syrië en Rusland gingen hiermee akkoord om zoveel mogelijk burgerslachtoffers te voorkomen……. Te zot voor woorden om dan nog te denken dat Syrië daarna nog eens gifgas zou inzetten tegen de achterblijvende eigen bevolking……. De terreurgroepen in Syrië komen voor het grootste deel uit andere landen en velen van hen (inclusief IS strijders) zijn door de VS en Saoedi-Arabië (resp. de nummer 1 en 2 terreurentiteiten op aarde) vooral vanuit Libië (nadat de VS en de NAVO dit land naar god hebben geholpen) naar Syrië gebracht……..
Opvallend: een week voordat de VS besloot met hulp van Groot-Brittannie en Frankrijk, doelen in Syrië met raketten te bestoken n.a.v. de ‘gifgasaanval’ op Douma, was BBC Scotland (radio) niet te ontvangen via het internet……. Een goede dag na de aanvallen was BBC Scotland weer te horen op het net……..
‘Je zou bijna gaan denken’ dat de BBC in haar ‘wijsheid’ besloot deze zender ‘op zwart’ te zetten…… Zeker als je ziet dat het verzet in Schotland tegen een illegale aanval op Syrië groot was en is, zelfs de Schotse premier Nicola Sturgeon heeft zich openlijk uitgesproken tegen zo’n aanval en heeft deze na uitvoering daarvan intussen (volkomen terecht) veroordeeld…….
Veronderstel dat het Britse volk i.p.v. alleen oorlogshitserij en haatzaaien tegen Rusland, Syrië en Iran, genuanceerde en kritische geluiden te horen zou krijgen, Schotse geluiden die gehakt maken van deze smerige en gevaarlijke Britse propaganda………..
Je kan het niet bewijzen, maar het is wel heel toevallig dat na de woorden van Trump, May en Macron, als reactie op de ‘gifgasaanval’, men de zender op slot heeft gegooid (althans voor degenen die niet in Schotland wonen…..)
De nieuwsredactie van BBC Schotland kan zo af en toe heel wat kritischer zijn dan de BBC redacties in Londen, waar men volkomen achter het regeringsbeleid staat en fiks meedoet aan het demoniseren van Rusland, inclusief het oplepelen van leugens als het bijvoorbeeld over Syrië en Iran gaat…. Zo stelde men bij deze ‘onafhankelijke zendgemachtigde’ dat de gifgasaanval door het leger van Assad werd uitgevoerd, terwijl daar niet een flinter van bewijs voor was en is……. Tja, wiens brood men eet……..
Blijft de vraag: was hier sprake van een typisch gevalletje ‘censuur…???’

bracht gisteren een artikel van Tyler Durden dat eerder op Zero Hedge
werd pepubliceerd.
Uitgebreid
verteld Robert Fisk over zijn bevindingen in Douma. Fisk is één van
de weinigen die niet geloofde dat het winnende Syrische leger het
eigen volk zou aanvallen met gifgas….. Alweer als één van de
weinigen besloot Fisk zelf op onderzoek uit te gaan en hij vertrok
naar Douma. Terwijl de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en het
grootste deel van de westerse politici (plus zogenaamde deskundigen
en opiniemakers) keihard durven te zeggen dat het Syrische leger en
daarmee Assad schuldig is aan de ‘gifgasaanval’ en nee, daar heeft men geen bewijzen voor,
men lult elkaar en terreurgroep Jaysh al-Islam plus de White Helmets gewoon na………. (de White Helmets die al heel wat ‘fake news’ [nepnieuws] hebben verspreid, zoals bekend zou moeten zijn bij de westerse reguliere media en politiek……)
Sterker
nog: door de voornoemde woordvoerders van de media en andere figuren
wordt de grote gifgasaanval van augustus 2013 er keer op keer
bijgesleept als een oorlogsmisdaad van het reguliere Syrische leger, terwijl
uit en te na is aangetoond dat door het westen genoemde ‘gematigde
rebellen’ verantwoordelijk zijn voor (ook) die aanval…….(o.a. een
VN onderzoek toonde dit aan……)
Ook nu verlaat men zich op o.a. op de terreurgroep Jaysh al-Islam
(het leger van de islam, echt een naam voor een ‘gematigde rebellen
groep…..’ ha! ha! ha!) en de White Helmets voor de
getuigenverklaringen……. Dit ‘leger van de islam’ (betekenis van Jaysh al-Islam) heeft NB toegegeven dat

rebellengroepen’ in het bezit zijn van gifgas…. Wat de White
Helmets betreft, die zijn al lang door de mand gevallen als hulp van

De
conclusie die Fisk heeft getrokken, is dat er zelfs geen gifgasaanval
heeft plaatsgevonden in Douma……..

Were Not Gassed”: Famed Reporter Reaches Syrian ‘Chemical Attack’
Site
(ZHE) — Robert
Fisk’s bombshell first-hand account for the UKIndependentruns
contrary to nearly every claim circulating in major international
press concerning what happened just over week ago on April 7th in an
embattled suburb outside Damascus: not only has the veteran British
journalist found no
evidence of a mass chemical attack, but he’s encountered multiple
local eyewitnesses who experienced the chaos of that night, but who
say the gas attack never happened.
Fisk
isthe
first Western journalist to reach and report from the site of
the alleged chemical weapons attackwidely
blamed on Assad’s forces. Writing
from Douma in eastern Ghouta, Robert Fisk has interviewed a Syrian
doctor who works at the hospital shown in one of the well-known
videos which purports to depict victims of a chemical attack.
The

Importantly,
the report, published late in the day Monday, is
causing a stir among
mainstream journalists who–minutes
after the Saudi-sponsored jihadist group Jaish
al-Islam (Army
of Islam) accused
the Syrian Army of gassing civilians–began
uncritically promoting the “Assad gassed his own people”
narrative as an already cemented and “proven” fact based on the
mere word a notoriously brutal armed group who itself
has admitted to using chemical weapons on the Syrian battlefield in
prior years. Also
notable is that no journalist or international observer was anywhere
near Douma when the purported chemical attack took place.
Controversy
ensued immediately after Fisk’s report, especially as he is
among the most recognizable names in the past four decades of Middle
East war reporting,
having twice won the British Press Awards’ Journalist of the Year
prize and as seven time winner of the British Press Awards’ Foreign
Correspondent of the Year (the NY
Times has referred
to him as“probably
the most famous foreign correspondent in Britain” while The
Guardian has
called him “one
of the most famous journalists in the world”). An Arabic speaker,
Fisk became famous for being among the few reporters in history to
conduct face-to-face interviews with Osama bin Laden, which he did on
three occasions between 1993 and 1997.
This
is the story of a town called Douma, a ravaged, stinking place of
smashed apartment blocks–and of an underground clinic whose images
of suffering allowed three of the Western world’s most powerful
nations to bomb Syria last week. There’s even a friendly doctor in
a green coat who, when I track him down in the very same
clinic, cheerfully
tells me that the “gas” videotape which horrified the world–
despite all the doubters–is perfectly genuine.
War
stories, however, have a habit of growing darker. For
the same 58-year old senior Syrian doctor then adds something
profoundly uncomfortable: the patients, he says, were overcome not by
gas but by oxygen starvationin
the rubbish-filled tunnels and basements in which they lived, on a
night of wind and heavy shelling that stirred up a dust storm.
Fisk
goes on to identify
the doctor by name – Dr. Assim Rahaibani – which is notable given
the fact that all early reporting from Douma typically relied on
“unnamed doctors” and anonymous opposition sources for early
claims of a chlorine gas attack (lately
morphed into an unverified “mixed” chlorine-and-sarin attack).
The
doctor’s testimony is consistent with that of the well-known Syrian
opposition group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which
initially reported based on its own pro-rebel sourcing that
heavy government bombardment of Douma city resulted in the
collapse of homes and underground shelters, causing civilians in
hiding to suffocate.
According
to SOHR,
which has long been a key go-to source for mainstream media over the
course of the war, “70
of them [women and children] have suffered suffocation as a result of
the demolition of home basements over them due to the heavy and
intense shelling.”
Though
outlets from The
Guardian to The
Washington Post to The
New York Times have
quoted SOHR on a near daily basis throughout the past six years of
war, the
anti-Assad opposition outlet’s reporting of mass asphyxiation
due to collapse of shelters has been notably absent from the same
publications.
Fisk
details the Syrian doctor’s testimony, who is adamant in his
emphasis that civilians were suffocating en masse, and
were not gassed:
It
was a short walk to Dr Rahaibani. From the door of his subterranean
clinic–“Point 200”, it is called, in the weird geology of this
partly-underground city–is a corridor leading downhill where he
showed me his lowly hospital and the few beds where a small girl was
crying as nurses treated a cut above her eye.
“I
was with my family in the basement of my home three hundred metres
from here on the night but all
the doctors know what happened.There
was a lot of shelling [by government forces] and aircraft were always
over Douma at night–but on this night, there was wind and huge dust
clouds began to come into the basements and cellars where people
lived. People
began to arrive here suffering from hypoxia, oxygen loss. Then
someone at the door, a “White Helmet”, shouted “Gas!”, and a
panic began. People started throwing water over each other. Yes, the
video was filmed here, it is genuine, but what you see are people
suffering from hypoxia–not gas poisoning.”
In
addition to interviewing a doctor while standing in the very hospital
featured in White Helmets footage of the events, Fisk cites the
testimonies of multiple locals in the following:
Before
we go any further, readers should be aware that this is not the only
story in Douma. There
are the many people I talked to amid the ruins of the town who said
they had “never believed in” gas stories–which were usually put
about, they claimed, by the armed Islamist groups.
These
particular jihadis survived under a blizzard of shellfire by living
in other’s people’s homes and in vast,
wide tunnels with underground roads carved through the living rock by
prisoners with pick-axes on three levels beneath the town.I
walked through three of them yesterday, vast corridors of living rock
which still contained Russian–yes, Russian–rockets and burned-out
cars.
And
further fascinating is that the veteran British war correspondent
comes upon local Douma residents who have so long been trapped in an
isolated ‘fog
of war’ battlefield
environment, that they are not even aware of the international
importance that the town has played in the US coalition decision to
bomb Syria:
So
the story of Douma is thus not just a story of gas–or no gas, as
the case may be. It’s about thousands of people who did not opt for
evacuation from Douma on buses that left last week, alongside
the gunmen with whom they had to livelike
troglodytes for months in order to survive.
I
walked across this town quite freely yesterday without soldier,
policeman or minder to haunt my footsteps, just two Syrian friends, a
camera and a notebook.I
sometimes had to clamber across 20-foot-high ramparts, up and down
almost sheer walls of earth. Happy to see foreigners among them,
happier still that the siege is finally over, they are mostly
smiling; those whose faces you can see, of course, because a
surprising number of Douma’s women wear full-length black hijab.
…Oddly,
after chatting to more than 20 people, I couldn’t find one who
showed the slightest interest in Douma’s role in bringing about the
Western air attacks.Two
actually told me they didn’t know about the connection.
But
it was a strange world I walked into. Two men, Hussam and Nazir Abu
Aishe, said they were unaware how many people had been killed in
Douma, although
the latter admitted he had a cousin “executed by Jaish el-Islam
[the Army of Islam] for allegedly being “close to the regime”.They
shrugged when I asked about the 43 people said to have died in the
infamous Douma attack.
The
White Helmets–the medical first responders already legendary in the
West but with some interesting corners to their own story–played a
familiar role during the battles. They
are partly funded by the [British] Foreign Office and most of the
local offices were staffed by Douma men.
I
found their wrecked offices not far from Dr Rahaibani’s clinic. A
gas mask had been left outside a food container with one eye-piece
pierced and a pile of dirty military camouflage uniforms lay inside
one room. Planted, I asked myself? I doubt it. The place was heaped
with capsules, broken medical equipment and files, bedding and
mattresses.
Of
course we must hear their side of the story, but it will not happen
here: a
woman told us that every member of the White Helmets in Douma
abandoned their main headquarters and chose to take the
government-organised and Russian-protected buses to the rebel
province of Idlib with the armed groups when the final truce was
agreed.
And
Fisk further narrates the strangeness of some of the reporting now
happening far outside of Douma which flatly contradicts the
testimonies of civilians still inside Douma that he encounters:
How
could it be that Douma refugees who had reached camps in Turkey were
already describing a gas attack which no-one in Douma today seemed to
recall?It
did occur to me, once I was walking for more than a mile through
these wretched prisoner-groined tunnels, that the citizens of Douma
lived so isolated from each other for so long that “news” in our
sense of the word simply had no meaning to them.
Syria
doesn’t cut it as Jeffersonian democracy–as I cynically like to
tell my Arab colleagues–and it is indeed a ruthless dictatorship,
but that couldn’t cow these people, happy to see foreigners among
them, from reacting with a few words of truth.So
what were they telling me?
They
talked about the Islamists under whom they had lived. They talked
about how the armed groups had stolen civilian homes to avoid the
Syrian government and Russian bombing.The
Jaish el-Islam had burned their offices before they left, but the
massive buildings inside the security zones they created had almost
all been sandwiched to the ground by air strikes. A Syrian colonel I
came across behind one of these buildings asked if I wanted to see
how deep the tunnels were. I stopped after well over a mile when he
cryptically observed that “this tunnel might reach as far as
Britain”. Ah yes, Ms May, I remembered, whose air strikes had been
so intimately connected to this place of tunnels and dust. And gas?
For
a prime example of what Fisk references as refugees in Turkey
“already describing a gas attack which no-one in Douma seemed to
recall…” CNN
aired a segment from one such refugee camp which is absolutely
bizarre and stunning in its claims.
began
sniffing a 7-year-old Syrian girl’s backpack while concluding, “I
mean there’s definitely something that stings…” –
with the implication that empirical proof had been found of
government chemical weapons use against the little girl and her
family.
This CNN report by Arwa Damon is an example of what Western governments and media consider evidence that the Syrian govt used chemical weapons in #Douma. In fact it proves nothing. CNN continues to shamelessly promote Jihadist propaganda & western military intervention #Syria
And
in the full
segment,
Damon attempts to subtly introduce the idea of a nerve agent used
against the family (though initial claims were widely reported to be
chlorine) by awkwardly including the account of the girl’s escape
from Douma: “She
could barely breath…she
felt as if her
entire nerves basically released.”
This Syrian girl hid her dolls inside a box, telling them “you’re going to suffocate in here, maybe, but at least you might be safe from the bombings.” CNN reports from inside a refugee camp in Syria hours after a coordinated US-led airstrike hit the area. https://cnn.it/2H2pCLe
Though
it’s unclear what the strange phrasing of “her entire nerves
basically released” actually means, CNN’s
Arwa Damon is ultimately claiming to be able to safely and
comfortably handle and sniff a backpack which contains residual sarin
and chlorine agents,
while simultaneously presenting the backpack as “proof” of a
chemical attack which happened a week prior (to say nothing the
clearly unscientific and bogus nature all of the above).
Notably,
in addition to Fisk’s bombshell report filed from ground zero of
the claimed chemical attack in Douma, cable
network One
America News has
also issued a report from on the ground in the newly liberated town,
finding “no evidence” – in its words – that a chemical attack
took place there.
Robert
Fisk’s report for The
Independent and
the One America News segment constitute
the first major international media reports from the location of the
alleged chemical attack. But
it will be interesting to see the extent to which international
chemical and weapons experts either validate or refute their
conclusions once the site is inspected.
Meanwhile,
the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
(OPCW) Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) team arrived
in Damascus on Saturday, April 14th – after the
US-led overnight strikes which primarily hit government buildings in
the capital.

In het westen heeft men lak aan de Saoedische bombardementen met o.a. clusterbomen (‘made in USA and GB…’) op o.a. woonwijken, scholen, ziekenhuizen, waterzuiveringsinstallaties en verdere infrastructuur, bombardementen die veel kinderen treffen…… Tja, een dood Jemenitisch kind is nu eenmaal niets waard, zeker niet vergeleken met een dood kind dat de valse westerse propaganda tegen Syrië, Rusland en Iran goed kan voeden……. (wat onder meer uit de westerse berichtgeving dienaangaande blijkt……..)
Nee, in het westen maakt men zich druk om een zeer onwaarschijnlijke gifgasaanval (door Syrië, terwijl het Syrische leger en haar coalitiegenoten volgens o.a. VN wapeninspecteurs niet meer beschikken over chemische wapens, noch over laboratoria waar dit gemaakt kan worden…..) Volgens artsen en verpleegkundigen in Douma was er ten tijde van de zogenaamde gifgasaanval een enorme stofontwikkeling ontstaan in de tunnels onder de huizen, tunnels waar de bevolking zich dacht te beschermen tegen een op dat moment uitgevoerd bombardement**.Daarop kampten deze bewoners met zware benauwdheid en moesten worden behandeld in het ziekenhuis…….. (later meer daarover)
Tegelijkertijd hebben de door het westen gekoesterde ‘gematigde rebellen’ in Syrië wel de beschikking over gifgas (zonder bezwaar van het westen…) en kijkt men liever weg van het conflict in Jemen, daar ‘onze goede vrienden’: de VS, Saoedi-Arabië, een paar Golfstaten en Egypte (met militair advies en wapenleveranties van GB…) daar vreselijk de beest uithangen…..

* Houthi’s zijn rebellen die o.a. vechten tegen IS en Al Qaida, daar deze terreurgroepen jacht maken op sjiieten…..
** Tunnels onder dwang van de ‘gematigde’ terreurgroep Jaysh al-Islam gegraven, een tunnelsysteem onder Douma dat zoals gezegd ook tijdens bombardementen wordt gebruikt als schuilkelder door de achtergebleven bewoners.
