NAVO-lid Colombia en de VS proberen uit alle macht eerlijke verkiezingen te voorkomen……

De zich steeds meer als dictator gedragende president Iván Duque van Colombia is als de VS bang de verkiezingen te verliezen aan de leiders van Historic Pact (for Colombia), Gustavo Petro en Francia Marquez, die men als links ziet en dat is vloeken in de ‘Colombiaanse kerk’, vandaar dat men met belachelijke beschuldigingen komt als zouden deze leiders corrupt zijn en worden deze kandidaten met de dood bedreigd, vandaar ook dat ze alleen campagne voeren op podia waar schermen tegen inkomende kogels zijn geplaatst…..

De claim dat Petro corrupt is komt van het opperhoofd der Colombiaanse strijdkrachten die zich hiermee tegen de regels in bemoeit met de verkiezingen…. In Nederland is het overigens niet veel beter, ex-militairen en militairen worden zelfs uitgenodigd door een aantal zendgemachtigden om hun visie te geven op wat een nieuwe regering zou moeten doen: het leger veel meer geld schenken (terwijl er jaarlijks enorme bedragen van het budget verdwijnen, die niet kunnen worden verantwoord) en/of zich harder moet opstellen tegen Rusland en China, ofwel de wil van de VS en de NAVO hier promoten bij het volk, een schande van gigantische omvang…… (terwijl de NAVO altijd onder militair opperbevel van de VS staat, kortom de NAVO is een extra VS leger….)

Nog schunniger is het feit dat een aantal internationale waarnemers voor de verkiezingen Colombia werden uitgezet dan wel worden geweigerd het land binnen te komen…… Niet vreemd dan ook dat de VS een wel heel dikke vinger in de Colombiaanse pap heeft, terwijl de VS de rechtse doodseskaders militair steunt en traint (door de CIA)….. Op deze plek al vaker verzucht: de FARC had nooit vrede moeten sluiten, de reden voor het oprichtten van de FARC was het overheidsgeweld tegen de grote arme onderlaag in het land, geweld dat nog steeds plaatsvindt en niet alleen door doodseskaders, maar ook door politie en leger……. Gelukkig hebben een aantal oud-FARC-leden FARC-EP opgericht en zij strijden tegen de doodseskaders, politie en leger als zij de arme bevolking belagen.

Met de NAVO op 2 militaire bases, plus een paar militaire bases van de VS heeft deze vereniging van terreurstaten grote invloed op de politiek in Colombia, vandaar ook het geweld tegen alles wat naar links ruikt, immers Colombia heeft als Venezuela een groot aantal bodemschatten en die moeten voor een appel en ei ter beschikking staan van de VS….. 

Even over Venezuela: de VS heeft op meerdere manieren geprobeerd de Venezolaanse regering Maduro te laten vallen, wat men eerder al onder de vermoorde president Chavez heeft geprobeerd…… De illegale sancties van de VS (de EU, Canada en Groot-Brittannië) tegen Venezuela hadden tot begin vorig jaar al aan meer dan 100.000 mensen het leven gekost (een zaak voor het Internationaal Strafhof >> ICC), echter ondanks dat feit blijft het grootste deel van het volk achter de regering Maduro staan en heeft de door de VS aangewezen president en zogenaamde leider van de oppositie Juan Guaidó (goed voor 2% van de stemmen…) het nakijken…… Niet vreemd als je bedenkt dat de socialistische regeringen Chavez en Maduro de grote onderlaag uit de armoede hebben weten te tillen, van de alfabetisering een groot succes hebben gemaakt en hebben gezorgd voor scholing, medische zorg en goedkope maar goede huisvesting!! Onder de illegale sancties van de VS vallen ook medicijnen, medische apparatuur en voedsel, ondanks dat de VS dit ontkent, terwijl deze terreurstaat 5 miljard dollar van Venezuela achterover heeft gedrukt*, geld bedoeld om medicijnen en medische apparatuur aan te schaffen, geld dat voor dat doel in de  VS was geparkeerd……. 

CodePink heeft een petitie opgesteld gericht aan Antony Blinken waarin men hem vraagt de verkiezingsuitslag in Colombia te respecteren, tevens een petitie voor de huidige Colombiaanse regering en leger te zorgen voor eerlijke en veilige verkiezingen. Beetje naïef moet ik zeggen, immers Blinken is vertegenwoordiger van terreurstaat VS die in feite aan de touwen trekt in Colombia en juist verantwoordelijk is voor politiek geweld in het land, waarmee de VS elke kans op een links bewind in Colombia wil voorkomen….. De VS stelt maar al te vaak democratie te willen verspreiden over de aarde, echter in werkelijkheid is de VS om het zacht te zeggen ‘iets te vaak’ bezig met het omverwerpen van democratisch gekozen regimes, zoals het ook het democratisch gekozen bewind van de Oekraïense president Janoekovytsj omver heeft geworden met een door de CIA georganiseerde en geregisseerde opstand, die uiteindelijk in 2014 leidde tot de staatsgreep tegen deze democratisch gekozen president….. De VS betaalde voor het e.e.a. een enorm bedrag te weten 5 miljard dollar!! 

Ook in Oekraïne was het de bedoeling van de VS om de bodemschatten van het land veilig te stellen voor eigen gebruik en tevens om nog meer van de Russische westgrens te kunnen controleren, waarbij de VS ook nog eens een aantal biologische laboratoria in de buurt van de Russische grens bestuurde, laboratoria waar men divers besmettelijke ziekten onderzocht om deze te gebruiken als wapen in een oorlog tegen Rusland….. Volgens westerse reguliere media en een groot aantal politici is dat een complottheorie en dat houdt men nog steeds vol, zelfs nadat de VS staatssecretaris van buitenlandse zaken Victoria Nuland dit heeft toegegeven, waarbij ze thorbetert stelde bang te zijn dat bepaalde resultaten in handen van de Russen zouden vallen!!

Helaas kunnen wij de petitie niet tekenen, behoorlijk vreemd daar ook ons land lid is van terreurorganisatie NAVO…… Geeft dit bericht door aan familie, vrienden en kennissen, tijd dat het westen ontwaakt en de VS terreur buiten haar grenzen aan banden legt i.p.v. dit te steunen!!

CODEPINK’s Teri Mattson arrived in

Colombia on May 22 to observe the May 29 elections at the invitation

of a prestigious human rights organization. She was denied entry and

deported to the U.S. She’s not the only international electoral

observer to be banned. But this is just the tip of the

iceberg.

The left-wing ticket of Gustavo

Petro and Francia Marquez is leading the polls, but they received

death threats and were forced to campaign behind shields, as seen in

the picture. The Army Chief accused Petro of being corrupt – despite

being constitutionally bound to maintain neutrality in politics. The

Duque government and State Department baselessly claimed that Russia

is somehow interfering in the elections. Let’s be clear, if opposition

candidates were threatened in Venezuela, there would be daily articles

and State Department press releases about it, if not sanctions and

threats.

Tell Secretary Blinken to respect the election

results and let the Colombian government and military know that

anything other than a clean, safe election will be

unacceptable!

So far this year, 79 social leaders

have been murdered in Colombia. Petro and Marquez are at serious risk

of assassination and that risk is likely to increase should they

win. 

Instead of raising concerns about

these threats, the U.S. named Colombia a major-non NATO ally – the

timing of which could be considered electoral interference.

Furthermore, the U.S. is contributing to the climate of insecurity by

suggesting that Russia is interfering in the elections through a

disinformation campaign. There’s no evidence for this and the usual

scapegoat for these claims, media outlet RT, doesn’t even have a

presence in Colombia. The U.S. is setting the stage for the right-wing

to claim fraud should Petro win. 

Tell

Blinken that the U.S. must respect the will of Colombian voters and

advocate for the safety of the candidates!

The first round of elections is on

May 29 and unless someone takes 50% (a possibility for the

Petro-Marquez ticket, according to latest polls), there will be a

runoff election on June 19. We’ve got to keep the pressure up on the

State Department between now and then, to help ensure the results are

respected. And this time we’re not alone, Secretary Blinken received a letter this week from 24 members of

Congress who made similar demands. To learn more about the situation,

Nobelprijscommittee uiterst hypocriet: veroordeling Aung San Suu Kyi is politiek gemotiveerd

Dacht even dat ik van m’n stoel donderde toen ik in het radionieuws van 13.00 u. op Deutschlandfunk hoorde dat het Nobelprijscommittee de veroordeling van Aung San Suu Kyi tot nog eens 4 jaar gevangenisstraf* politiek gemotiveerd noemt en daarmee deze veroordeling schandalig vindt.

Waar was het Nobelprijscommittee toen Aung San Suu Kyi als bijna hoogste leider van Birma (Myanmar is de naam voor Birma die de eerdere militaire junta aan het land gaf) achter de genocide stond die andere Birmaanse burgers en het leger uitvoerden op de Rohingya minderheid….??!!! (en naar het schijnt gebeurt dit nog steeds)

Hier de verdediging van Aung San Suu Kyi voor haar schunnige steun aan het leger:

Wat een hypocriet zootje!! Ach dat was al lang te zien als je ziet dat meerdere oorlogsmisdadigers de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede kregen, om met Obama te beginnen, eerdere zittend president van de VS….. Later kreeg ook de eertijds president van Colombia Santos deze prijs, terwijl je ook hem als oorlogsmisdadiger kan zien gezien zijn slappe optreden tegen de rechtse doodseskaders in het land, een optreden dat je niet anders kan zien dan steun voor die doodseskaders die deels zijn gevuld met politiefunctionarissen en militairen….. Voorts deed deze Santos niets tegen de oorzaak van het bestaan van de FARC, die in het westen en de 3 Amerika’s wordt gezien als een terreurorganisatie, terwijl zij juist opkwamen voor de arme bevolking en arme boeren, die zo vaak het slachtoffer waren van regeringsgeweld en de eerder aangehaalde doodseskaders….. De FARC heeft zich bij de neus laten nemen door ploert Santos, smerige oplichting die al aan een aantal ex-FARC leden het leven heeft gekost…… (gelukkig hebben niet alle FARC leden de wapens neergelegd!!)

Ook Nobelprijs voor de Vrede winnaar Abiy Ahmed, premier van Ethiopië, heeft alles behalve schone handen…..,

Echter als je de Nobelprijswinnaars voor de Vrede ziet vanaf het begin, kom je nog veel meer oorlogsmisdadigers tegen zoals opperploert Kissinger en wolf in schaapskleren Carter >> ook al eertijds president van de VS (de grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld)…… 

Het Nobelprijscommittee is bovendien zelf politiek gemotiveerd, gezien het grote aantal politiek rechtse winnaars, waarbij men de Nobelprijs zelfs gebruikt om een politiek statement te maken!!!

Tot slot nog dit: het is meer dan schandalig dat de westerse media nu plots Aung San Suu Kyi weer bejubelen als Nobelprijswinnaar en voorvechter van mensenrechten….. Ook de NOS sprak vandaag niet meer over de genocide op de Rohingya en noemde nog eens dat mensenrechtenorganisaties het proces tegen Aung San Suu Kyi veroordelen….. Te schunnig voor woorden, terwijl de reguliere media uitermate laks waren in het veroordelen van de genocide op de Rohingya dat deed men pas nadat deze genocide al lang en breed bezig was, waarschijnlijk juist omdat Aung San Suu Kyi toen een hoge functie had, bijna te vergelijken met premier…….

* Eerder was  Aung San Suu Kyi al tot 2 jaar gevangenisstraf veroordeeld en er wachten haar nog een paar processen zodat ze in totaal zelfs tot 100 jaar gevangenisstraf kan worden veroordeeld, ofwel levenslang…… (hoewel ik haar een schoft vindt is het proces tegen Aung San Suu Kyi natuurlijk te belachelijk voor woorden, maar vergeet nooit waarvoor zij mede verantwoordelijk is >> genocide!!)

FARC: Florida’s gouverneur waarschuwt voor het van de terreurlijst halen van deze Colombiaanse verzetsbeweging

Ron DeSantis, de Republikeinse gouverneur van Florida heeft een grote bek over het voornemen de communistische FARC van de VS terreurlijst te halen…… Moet je nagaan, de Santis is onderdeel van de verreweg grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld, de VS!! In tegenstelling tot de FARC heeft de VS alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 5 miljoen mensen vermoord (en dat is al een cijfer van een paar jaar geleden, ofwel dat getal moet met een dubbelcijferig percentage zijn toegenomen…..)…..

‘Vreemd genoeg’ heeft DeSantis er geen probleem mee dat de VS de rechtse doodseskaders niet op de terreurlijst heeft staan, terwijl de terreur van deze groepen 20 stations verder gingen en gaan dan die van de FARC, deze doodseskaders hebben al vele tienduizenden mensen vermoord, verdienen vooral aan het verbouwen van en de verkoop van cocaine, maar ook aan synthetische harddrugs, voorts verdienen deze doodseskaders kapitalen aan diefstal van brandstof en afpersing van ondernemers die weigeren samen te werken met deze terreurgroepen….. Het meest schandalige is wel dat deze groepen zelfs een koepelorganisatie hebben, te weten de Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC)……

De rechtse doodseskaders zijn NB opgeleid door de CIA, zoals de CIA ook de overheidsbeulen les heeft gegeven in het martelen van tegenstanders……

De Santis is als een dolle hond als hij beweert dat de FARC zich schuldig maakt aan het uitmoorden van hele dorpen, een misdaad tegen de menselijkheid die volledig is toe te schrijven aan de rechtse doodseskaders……. Waarom zou de FARC mensen vermoorden, terwijl ze juist zoveel mogelijk moorden op de gewone bevolking probeerden te voorkomen, probeerden daar het grootste deel van de FARC zo ongelofelijk dom was om een akkoord te sluiten met de zwaar corrupte en waardeloze regering van Colombia……

Sinds dat akkoord zijn eerdere commandanten en strijders van de FARC vermoord door doodseskaders, politie en leger van Colombia…… Niet voor niets dat een vrij kleine groep binnen de FARC zich niet heeft laten foppen met het gesloten akkoord en volkomen terecht zijn doorgegaan met hun strijd voor een meer sociaal Colombia: het uit de armoede trekken van de grote onderlaag, gratis en goed onderwijs voor iedereen (en niet alleen voor de welgestelden), goede en goedkope behuizing voor dezelfde onderlaag en voor goede en voor iedereen betaalbare gezondheidszorg…..

Het is dan ook een enorm schandaal dat een land als Colombia, afgeladen met grondstoffen, zo arm is….. De opvolgende corrupte regeringen stelen het land leeg en dat met hulp van grote westerse bedrijven die de grondstoffen voor een appel en ei roven van het Colombiaanse volk….. 

Misschien moet de FARC maar eens een terreurlijst aanleggen, gegarandeerd dat de VS bovenaan in de lijst zal staan!!

Florida’s DeSantis Warns Against Removing Communist Rebels From Terrorist List: ‘A Serious Mistake’

Gov. Ron DeSantis has criticized the Biden administration over its
reported plan to remove a Colombian communist rebel group from the list of designated foreign terrorist organizations, calling it “an insult” to the Colombian American community in his state.

Financed by extortion, kidnapping, and a billion-dollar cocaine trafficking operation, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia
(FARC) waged a guerrilla war against the nation for more than a
half-century until 2016, when the far-left rebels signed a peace deal
that’s still being implemented. The decadeslong conflict has claimed
hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions more, including
many families who settled in Florida.

In response to a recent report that the U.S. Department of State is planning to remove FARC from its international terrorist
list, DeSantis called the move a “reckless decision,” noting that the
group “perpetuated countless murders, bombings, assassinations,
kidnapping and attacks” in the name of redistribution of wealth.

“Biden’s policy is an insult to members of the Colombian American
community, many of whom fled that terrorist group’s barbaric attacks on
civilians,” the Republican governor said. “This is a serious mistake by the Biden administration and will hurt Floridians.”

He also argued that the move could “embolden terrorist groups
throughout Latin America,” empower narco-traffickers, and pave the way
for a revival of left-wing authoritarian Castro-Chavezism in Colombia.

DeSantis’s criticism was echoed by U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, who is
seeking the Democratic nomination in an attempt to unseat DeSantis as
governor in 2022. The former-governor-turned-congressman said FARC has
earned its designation as a terrorist group for causing “decades of war
and death.”

“I join Colombians across Florida and our nation, deeply troubled by
reports that the State Department is considering removing FARC from the
list of international terrorist organizations,” Crist said in a
statement. “It should not earn its legitimacy from the United States
without the advice and consent from the community who call America
home.”

Florida state Sen. Annette Taddeo, another 2022 Democratic
gubernatorial candidate, also spoke against the move. Taddeo, whose
mother is Colombian, recalled on Twitter
that she had to flee her home country at the age of 17 “because of the
Marxist terrorist organization, FARC, a group of militias who kidnapped
my father who was a WWII American fighter pilot.”

“This news is outrageous and I just hung up with the State Department to let them know just how outrageous it is,” she said.

During a Nov. 23 press briefing,
White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the status of
FARC and whether it’s being “delisted” as a terrorist group.

“I don’t have any update on that,” Psaki said. “I’m happy to check
with our national security team and see if there’s anything we can get
to all of you.”

The State Department didn’t respond to a request for comment. FARC
remains on the department’s international terrorist organizations list
as of the time of publication.

Militaire bases VS goed voor grote ‘defensie uitgaven’ en een garantie voor komende oorlogsvoering

De VS heeft meer dan 800 militaire bases over de wereld. Deze bases zorgen ten eerste al voor sterke bemoeienis van de VS met de politieke gang van zaken in het land waar ze zich bevinden en ten tweede zouden meerdere onderzoeken al hebben aangetoond dat die bases zelfs een garantie kunnen zijn voor het ‘uitbreken’ van oorlog…. (lees: het beginnen van een oorlog van de VS tegen een land dat niet gehoorzaam aan haar hand wenst te lopen….)

Vergeet bij het voorgaande niet het grote aantal geheime militaire acties van de VS (o.l.v. de CIA) in landen waar de VS niets te zoeken heeft. Veelal worden deze acties voorafgegaan door unilaterale sancties (illegaal >> zonder VN resolutie) tegen zo’n land. Een ‘mooi voorbeeld’ is Venezuela waar de CIA meerdere terreuraanslagen heeft georganiseerd en daadwerkelijk heeft laten uitvoeren…… Eerder dit jaar werd een VS ex-militair berecht in Venezuela, aandacht van de reguliere westerse media daarvoor nul komma nada*, terwijl die media zich telkens weer laten zien als verdediger van VS agressie tegen Venezuela en de leugens die de geheime diensten van deze grootste terreurentiteit brengen, zonder enig onderzoek als waarheid brengen, terwijl men in die media dondersgoed weet dat deze diensten van de VS vooral goed zijn in liegen en bedriegen…..  

Wat betreft het voorgaande is het dan ook bijzonder opvallend at de NAVO 2 militaire bases heeft in Colombia dicht bij de grens met Venezuela en dat in een zogenaamd democratisch land waar de arme bevolking zucht onder de knoet van corrupte politici en doodseskaders bestaand uit leden en ex-leden van politie en leger, die hun moorddadig werk zonder problemen kunnen verrichten…… (de FARC heeft zich dan ook in de maling laten nemen en had nooit een vredesakkoord moeten sluiten met de Colombiaanse regering, tekenend ook dat een aantal ex-FARC leden zijn vermoord door de ultrarechtse doodseskaders, terwijl deze eskaders zouden worden opgerold volgens het verdrag dat de Colombiaanse regering sloot met de FARC…..) Afgelopen week werd voorts bekend gemaakt dat vorig jaar een record aantal milieuactivisten zijn vermoord, waarbij Colombia als één van de belangrijkste voorbeelden werd genoemd, de daders: de doodseskaders die het land ‘rijk is…..’

De VS is intussen doende om haar militaire bases uit te breiden, het gaat hier vooral om de 400 bases die het langs een groot deel van China heeft….. In de Biden administratie heeft men al gesproken over een beperkte nucleaire oorlog tegen China en de VS heeft af en aan delen van haar vloot in de omstreden Zuid-Chinese Zee (ook met marine schepen van andere NAVO-lidstaten…), niets anders dan het tarten van China, zoals de VS en haar NAVO-partners dat ook doen tegen Rusland door bijna het jaarrond militaire oefeningen te houden langs delen van de Russische westgrens……

Door het uitbouwen van militaire bases geeft de VS steeds meer uit aan ‘defensie’ (lees: oorlogsvoering) en houdt daarbij haar NAVO-partners voor dat zij ook meer moeten uitgeven aan defensie….. 

Niet voor niets ook dat de VS, Groot-Brittannië en Australië het militaire pact AUKUS hebben gesloten, waarbij men de Fransen zwaar heeft geschoffeerd doordat Australië nucleair aangedreven onderzeeërs van de VS zal aanschaffen, terwijl dat land al in 2016 een contract had gesloten met Frankrijk voor de aanschaf van diesel en elektrisch aangedreven onderzeeërs……. Dit pact is gesloten om China te dwarsbomen, waarbij men stelt dat China de wereld wil overheersen en om een grote militaire aanwezigheid uit te bouwen in de zeegebieden die grenzen aan de Chinese territoriale wateren…. De Australische regering Morrison (Morrison is een inhumane schoft van de eerste orde) dwarsboomt daarmee de handelsbetrekkingen met China en dat zal ongetwijfeld leiden tot een fikse vergroting van het al grote arme deel van de Australische bevolking……

De schoft John Mearsheimer, een politiek analist uit de VS, heeft al in 2019 de Australische denktank ‘Center for Independent Studies’ >> CIS (en daarmee het volk van Australië) voorgehouden dat men weliswaar kan kiezen voor welvaart en de handelsbetrekkingen met China kan aanhouden, maar dat er geen welvaart zal zijn als je de Chinese overheersing niet overleeft….. Hij ging zelfs zover om China een beest te noemen dat wordt gevoed door Australië…….** Volgens Mearsheimer ben je ofwel voor de VS dan wel tegen de VS, waarbij hij dreigde dat wanneer je de VS als vijand hebt je nog niet jarig bent…….. Ofwel een volledige bedreiging van het Australische volk, waarmee deze opperploert nogmaals aantoont dat we niet bang moeten zijn voor China of Rusland, maar juist voor de VS, dat met haar illegale oorlogen deze eeuw al meer dan 5 miljoen mensen heeft vermoord…….

Colombia: grote protesten tegen afwentelen kosten Coronacrisis op de onderlaag: politie vermoordt minstens 30 mensen

Ivan Duque, de rechtse president van Colombia, heeft in ‘alle wijsheid’ besloten dat de kosten die de Coronacrisis met zich mee hebben gebracht worden gecompenseerd middels een belastinghervormingswet, die sarcastisch de volgende naam meekreeg: ‘law of sustainable solidarity’ (‘wet van duurzame solidariteit’). Deze wetgeving is een cynische poging van Duque om de kosten van de Coronacrisis af te wentelen op het armste deel van de bevolking…….

De werkelijke naam van de wet is ‘Reforma Tributaria’ (in feite simpelweg ‘hervorming van belastingen ofwel: belastinghervorming’) en deze moet 6,3 miljard miljard dollar opbrengen, in Colombiaanse pesos is dat 23 miljard. Dit is een regressieve belasting (naarmate het inkomen stijgt is de last van deze belasting minder voelbaar) en wordt als onze btw geheven op producten als melk, suiker, koffie en graan, daarnaast dreigt er een belastingverhoging van 19% op zaken als water, elektriciteit en gas….. Uitleg dat deze wet de armsten treft lijkt me overbodig, immers hoe hoger het inkomen, hoe minder last je hebt van deze in feite schunnige prijsverhogingen…. (oh nu heb ik het alsnog uitgelegd)

De laatste belastinghervorming die Duque doorvoerde was in 2019, waar de financiële sector, olie- en mijnbedrijven van profiteerden door substantiële belastingverlagingen…….. (terwijl ze al veel te weinig belasting betaalden…)

Eind April begonnen de protesten met stakingen tegen deze belastinghervorming georganiseerd door het Comité
Nacional del Paro en de Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (resp. het Nationale Werkloosheidscomité en de Centrale Vakbond van Arbeiders) tegen vorig weekeinde (van 1 en 2 mei) braken grote demonstraties uit in de grote steden als Cali, Bogota, Medellin, Pereira en in honderden kleine gemeenschappen….. Vorige week zondagavond waren er branden te zien in een half dozijn steden, Duque trok de wet in, maar de gemoederen lieten zich niet meer sussen door deze maatregel, logisch als je ziet hoe onrechtvaardig de verdeling is in Colombia (en veel andere Latijns-Amerikaanse landen)…….

Afgelopen week bleven de demonstranten op de straten, niet alleen vanwege deze meer dan schandalige wetgeving, maar ook door het slechte beleid op de Coronacrisis* en het sentiment dat de regering elke gevoel mist met de worsteling en problemen waarmee het gewone volk dag na dag te maken heeft…… Deze woede is nog eens extra aangejaagd door het politiegeweld tegen de stakingen, waarbij minstens 30 mensen werden vermoord, honderden gewond raakten en bijna honderd mensen worden vermist (waarschijnlijk vermoord en in massagraven weggewerkt…… (in datzelfde land heeft de NAVO 2 militaire bases…..) Amnesty International heeft het geweld van de ESMAD, een soort mobiele eenheid (ME), excessief en onnodig genoemd, terwijl een missie van de VN in Cali door de politie werd aangevallen ……

De schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen CounterPunch artikel, Alejandra Marin Buitrago, gaat dieper in op de protesten en de smerige behandeling van demonstranten en stakers door de ESMAD. 

Het is nog steeds ongelofelijk dat de FARC zich zo in de luren heeft laten leggen door de Colombiaanse regering, zeker als je ziet dan het doel van deze organisatie: een fatsoenlijke behandeling van de onderlaag verder weg is dan ooit….. Niet voor niets ook dat een aantal leiders van de FARC zich niet meer gebonden voelen aan het vredesakkoord en de FARC-EP hebben opgericht…… Schande ook dat de NAVO militaire bases heeft in een land dat met zo’n bloederige straffe hand wordt geregeerd, zonder enige compassie met de grote onderlaag…….. Ach ja, de NAVO heeft als hun militaire baas de VS nooit problemen met dictators, zie ook de omgang met het reli-fascistisch geregeerde Turkije, prominent NAVO-lid…… En dan durft de NAVO als de VS te zeggen dat het voor verbreiding van democratie is en voor het handhaven van mensenrechten….. ha! ha! ha! ha! Smerige oplichters!! Verder moet niet vergeten worden dat de rechtse doodseskaders nog steeds actief zijn in Colombia, ondanks de leugens in een deel van de westerse pers dat dit niet meer het geval is….. (deze doodseskaders bestaan vaak uit leden van politie en leger, dan wel voormalige werknemers van deze organisaties…..) Leiders van vakbonden, mensenrechtenorganisaties en milieuorganisaties zijn hun leven dan ook niet zeker in dit vreselijk geregeerde land…….

Lees het artikel van Buitrago en zegt het voort, ongelofelijk de manier waarop er aandacht is voor deze zaak in de westerse reguliere media….. Zo liet de Telegraaf weten dat een Nederlandse moeder, van wie de keizersnede is gepland, problemen ziet vanwege het geweld in de stad Cali….. Niets over de oorzaak, op een foto zie je de moeder met een dikke buik en een kind op de schouders en daarnaast een andere foto met betogers die zo te zien de politie belagen, al krijg je de politie niet te zien, uiteraard geen enkele moeite om uit te leggen waarom het gaat….. Het AD komt vooral met berichten van de Colombiaanse overheid, ofwel het AD is klankkast geworden van de ijskoude, inhumane regering van Colombia, ook de cijfers over doden en vermisten zijn die van de overheid en deze liggen ver beneden de werkelijke aantallen……. Voorts wordt nog gemeld dat critici stellen dat de eerder aangekondigde verhoging van de btw, vooral de middenklasse zou treffen…… Wat een enorm verschil met de gelogen berichtgeving over Venezuela in diezelfde media…… Ongelofelijk!!

Colombia on the Brink

In the last week, Colombia has experienced the most widespread civil unrest of its modern history. Since Wednesday, April 28th,
millions of people have taken to the streets to fight back against a
regressive national tax reform bill. The bill, farcically called the
“law of sustainable solidarity,” aimed to cover budgetary shortfalls
resulting from the paralysis of the economy brought on by COVID. In
fact, the legislation was a cynical attempt by right-wing President Ivan
Duque to shift the burden of the economic crisis onto those who can
least afford it.

The Reforma Tributaria, as the bill was called, aimed to raise US $
6.3 billion (about 23 billion Colombian pesos), through regressive sales
taxes of 19% on essential products such as cereal, milk, sugar, and
coffee. It also threatened to impose 19% taxes on utilities (water,
electricity, and gas).[1]
Meanwhile, the financial sector and oil and mining corporations enjoy
substantial tax benefits that were granted as part of Duque’s last tax
reform in 2019.[2]

Demonstrations began last week with a strike, called by the Comité
Nacional del Paro and the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (National
Strike Committee and the National Unions Council). By the weekend huge
protests had broken out in the major cities of Cali, Bogota, Medellin,
Pereira, and hundreds of other municipalities. On Sunday night, with
half a dozen cities up in flames, President Duque rescinded the bill.
But as you Americans are fond of saying, the horses were out of the
barn.

Throughout the week, protesters have remained on the streets in
force, fueled by anger at the poor management of the pandemic and
widespread sentiment that the government has completely lost touch with
the struggles and troubles of common people in the country. This feeling
has only been exacerbated by the extreme police brutality unleashed
during the strikes, which has left close to 30 dead, hundreds wounded,
and close to a hundred missing. Amnesty international has called the use
of force by ESMAD (the riot police of Colombia), “excessive and
unnecessary,”[3] and the UN reported its own mission in Cali was attacked and threatened by the police[4].

What has emerged in the last week is a distinct pattern, a contrast
between tense protests during the day and police terror at night.
Daytime protests are often led by strike committee members and other
civil society groups: teachers, civil servants, students, activists.
These protests have been attacked by the ESMAD, but have remained
largely peaceful. At night, the security forces’ reign of terror begins.
Across the country reports have emerged of kidnappings, assassinations,
random shootings at unarmed crowds, and rapes. As Bogotá based El
Tiempo columnist Sandra Borda said in an interview with the New York
Times, Duque appears to be offering an olive branch to protestors during
the day and sending police and thugs out to kill protestors by night.[5]

In Bogota, the protests during the day have remained relatively
peaceful. Green Party mayor Claudia Lopez rejected Duque’s offer to send
troops alongside of ESMAD police and instead sent the army to guard
jails and police stations. However, protesters have denounced ESMAD
abuses and human rights activists have been detained. In the south of
Bogotá, the anti riots police (ESMAD) attacked protesters with an
electronic multiple projectile launcher propelled from a tank. The
“Venom,” as it is nicknamed, costs US $ 110,000, and the flash grenade
canisters of tear gas that it fires cost $ 71 a piece.[6] By the middle of the week, on the 8th
day of protests more than 27,000 protesters were gather in 20 points
around the capital. Despite heavy rains and strong ESMAD presence
protesters held rallies at cities main parks and universities. On
Thursday, a major of the police in a town near Bogotá was captured as
person of interest for the murder of the 24 year old Brayan Niño, who
has become a symbol of police violence in the capital.[7]

Last weekend Cali, a city of 3 million (the third largest in the
country), became the epicenter of the protests. Famed for its Salsa
dancing, a huge “salsa party protest” broke out in the streets, with
people dancing to the rhythm of their beloved salsa music and the sound
of the cacerolazos (banging on pots and pans, a universal form of
protest in South America, especially when food is at stake). However,
this week the situation in Cali has become increasingly complicated. The
city has been the focus of an intense police and military crackdown on
the protest—it is by far the most militarized of Colombian cities at
this point. However, this is in part because the national strike has in
Cali been infiltrated by unidentified armed groups, which in addition to
looting and stealing gasoline have been accused of shooting protesters.
In one strange case, protesters actually convinced looters to return
goods to stores. On Tuesday, Caleños endured twelve-hour-long Internet
and power outages. Protesters were panicked because they could not get
through to their families and post on social media, the preferred mode
of denouncing ESMAD’s abuses. As of today, Cali has suffered the most
cases of police brutality and murders,[8] and is running out of gasoline, as the main access roads to the city are barricaded.

North of Cali, in the heart of the coffee region, Pereira was the
site of the tragic death of Lucas Villa-Vargas, one of the faces of the
movement. On Wednesday evening, Villa-Vargas, a college student of
physical education, was standing on El Viaducto, the main bridge running
into Pereira, when he was killed by a gunman in a drive-by motorcycle
shooting. As people who live in popular neighborhoods in Colombian
cities know well, two men approaching on a cheap motorcycle is an
ominous sign. Along with Villa, the gunman shot two other young movement
members, who are now fighting for their lives at a local hospital.[9]
The mayor of Pereira has offered rewards for capturing the gunman and
hundreds of thousands of viewers have seen Lucas’s assassination online.
Amongst Pereiranos there is little doubt that Villa’s murderer was a
hired gun. Lucas’s leadership had become highly visible among the
protesters in Pereira; sadly, such recognition in social justice
protests often comes with a high cost in Colombia.

The rage over the proposed tax reform also comes amidst one of the
worst waves of Covid outbreak in the world. In many cities’ ICUs are at
full capacity, and the vaccination drive has been a resounding failure.
Less than 8% of the population have received the first dose and many of
those saw their second doses postponed as far as three months due to
lack of supplies. Instead of prioritizing direct negotiating with
Pfizer, the government authorized private health companies to negotiate
in order to purchase doses for the elite. Public testing is hardly
available, and at $50, private labs testing is well beyond the budgets
of most families.[10]
The day after the strikes began, the Minister of Health tweeted a
threat that cities with large strikes and protests would have their
already poor supplies of the vaccine suspended. He retracted his
grotesque threat a day later, but the damage was done.[11]
Social media and news outlets have ridiculed the incompetence of the
government and the high-profile staff who, as is well known throughout
the country, fly to Miami to get vaccinated while prioritized groups in
the low-income class wait anxiously for their first shots.[12]

As in many countries, so in Colombia, covid has exacerbated what were
already, before the pandemic, outrageous wage and income disparities
and deep inequality. In Colombia 63.8% of the population earn no more
than a minimum wage, equivalent to US $270 monthly (DANE, 2020), and 2.2
million Colombian families eat only twice a day (DANE, 2020). The
percentage of people living in poverty went from 35.7% in 2019 to 42.5%
in 2020 (Portafolio, March 2021). Contrast this with the government
officials who were poised to push through the regressive reform. In
Colombia, a member of congress earns thirty four times the minimum
monthly salary, or around US $9,430 every month. Congressman and women
also receive a monthly quota of plain tickets, a rented bulletproof car,
insurance, cellphone plans, and staff salaries for a total monthly cost
per member of US $ 25,837.[13]
As far as public spending goes, in March, Duque announced a decision to
acquire twenty-four last generation F-16 air force planes for US $ 4.5
billion. On Tuesday, May 4th, amid the protests, the minister of finance
withdrew the plan.[14]

Across society, Colombian inequality is backed by a well-consolidated
stratum system. In the strata system, urban areas get assigned a number
from one to six according to the quality of the dwellings and urban
development (Decree-Law 3069/1968; Law 142/1994). The stratum system is
unique to Colombia, designed in the late 60s to redistribute utilities
costs by assigning subsidies to low strata (1 and 2) through
overpayments from high strata (5 and 6). However, in reality, it has
become a widespread mark of status and contributes to discrimination and
social immobility. While the strata system is not based on household
income, it has led to outcomes that are similar to the effects of
redlining in American cities. In a large city like Bogota, a strata 5
person in the north could spend his or her entire life without setting
foot in the poor south. In all likelihood, the maids, nannies, and
doormen working for them are the only close relationship with a low
strata person that high-strata people ever experience. This total
disconnection, separating rich and poor, perhaps explains why
vice-president Marta Ramirez recently blamed informal workers themselves
for not having savings to ride out the pandemic, adding that they
should stop expecting welfare to solve their problems and urging them to
take the pandemic as an opportunity to “rebrand” themselves.[15]

Colombians have tended to respond to such ignominies with
meme-gallows-humor in social media. Likewise, they responded to colossal
corruption scandals, and continuous incites of public money defraud.
Each corruption scandal floods the news for a few weeks until it
dissolved into the next, hardly ever any high public official is held
accountable or the public money recovered. Meanwhile, neighboring
countries have overthrown presidents and convicted high officials for
similar white-collar crimes. Accurately, conservative sectors flaunt
that the country is the steadiest democracy in the continent. But last
week, sarcasm and passivity gave way to fury.

The resilience of the protesters is a hopeful sign for a country that
has not witnessed the level of popular urban protest and progressive
political organizing as many of its neighbors on the continent. Colombia
was, of course, home to Marxist guerrilla movements, most famously the
FARC, and experienced a half-century-long civil war. This war, however,
was fought in the rural hinterlands while cities remain in compliance
with every neoliberal reform implemented by one right wing government
after another. For decades, the very presence of the unpopular guerilla
helped the government and elites stigmatize and delegitimize any
political activity that showed the slightest socialist influence. When
more muscle was needed, paramilitary groups could be relied on, and
Colombia was long one of the most dangerous places in the world for
union organizers.

However, as Hylton (2020) has written, many Colombians see their
current political situation as a potential historical opening. President
Duque’s labor reform bill in 2019 catalyzed a nationwide urban
mobilization not seen since the 1977 civic strike.[16]
In this presidential period, protests have emerged as a regular feature
of Colombia’s political landscape. The defeat of the regressive bill is
an unprecedented triumph for the youth, the urban poor, and the unions
of teachers and health care workers who promoted the uprising. The
government, eager to regain control of the situation, has reached out to
the Comite del Paro to accelerate the time table for talks. The Strike
Committee has maintained that the demilitarization of the cities is a
condition of its coming to the table.

Update: When this article was written it was reported that Lucas
Villa-Vargas had been killed in Pereira. He was shot eight times and was
presumed dead. Almost miraculously, it now appears that he is in
critical condition in a hospital in Pereira. The people are asking that
the city name the bridge where he was shot–Pereira’s most notable
architectural feature–in his honor.

9 ‘ex-FARC rebellen’ vermoord door leger Colombia: FARC-EP opgericht

Afgelopen nacht in het BBC World Service radionieuws van 2.30 u. (CET) het bericht dat het leger van Colombia gisteren ‘9 ex-FARC leden’ heeft vermoord…..

Lullig genoeg niets nieuws, ondanks de media stilte in het grootste deel van het westen: de laatste 1,5 jaar heeft het leger van Colombia en fascistische doodseskaders 500 sociale leiders vermoord en 150 ex-leden van wat voorheen FARC werd genoemd….. Opvallend genoeg zijn de meeste moorden op deze mensen gebeurt na de machtsovername door president Iván Duque, een lid van de politieke partij Democratic Center, terwijl je hem gezien zijn uitlatingen moet rekenen tot extreem rechts, ofwel hij is een fascist, die van meet af aan tegen het vredesoverleg tussen FARC en de Colombiaanse overheid was……

Niet vreemd dus dat Iván Márquez, een voormalig leider van FARC heeft aangekondigd dat hij en andere ex-FARC leden de wapens weer op hebben genomen….. De naam van de nieuwe rebellengroep is nu FARC-EP*, die zich altijd heeft ingezet voor de belangen en bescherming van kleine arme boeren en de rest van de onderlaag in de Colombiaanse maatschappij….. Márquez stelde verder dat zijn rebellen zich niet zullen bezighouden met ontvoeringen en losgeld innen en alleen zullen reageren op agressie tegen FARC-EP, of tegen kleine boeren en andere arme Colombianen. De groep zal de dialoog zoeken met grote landheren (in het verleden verantwoordelijk voor de dood van een groot aantal kleine boeren) en grote ondernemers en zal hen proberen over te halen bij te dragen aan de goede zaak.

Duque is uiteraard blij met de ontstane situatie en heeft grote beloningen uitgeloofd voor inlichtingen die tot de aanhouding of de dood van FARC-EP leiders zal leiden…… Een paar maanden geleden beloofde Duque nog dat de schuldigen voor de moord op sociaal leiders en ex-FARC leden zwaar zullen boeten, echter daar bleef het dan ook bij…. Het is dan ook zeker dat het leger en politie nog steeds op grote schaal deel uitmaken van rechtse doodseskaders die buiten de steden tekeer gaan tegen activisten die het leven van de arme bevolking willen verbeteren en tegen ex-FARC leden en nu dus ook tegen leden van FARC-EP……

Iván Márquez leest een verklaring van 30 minuten voor waarin hij aankondigt de wapens weer opgenomen te hebben. Op het hoofd van elke persoon op deze video still heeft Duque een beloning gezet van 882.000 dollar…….

Hoewel het leger zelf toegeeft mee te werken aan de vervolging van ‘terroristen’, zou het me zelfs niet verbazen als de NAVO meewerkt aan het moorden in Colombia, immers naast de VS zou de NAVO intussen 2 militaire bases hebben in Colombia en dat op niet te grote afstand van de grens met Venezuela….. Zoals je wellicht al wist, Colombia is belachelijk genoeg als lid toegelaten tot de NAVO……

Over Venezuela gesproken: Duque geeft de Venezolaanse president Maduro de schuld van het wederopstaan van FARC (-EP), terwijl m.n. zijn wanbeleid op o.a. het gebied van mensenrechten en het niet optreden tegen fascistische doodseskaders daar de oorzaak van is…….

Jammer dat het bestand met FARC is geklapt, al was dat te voorspellen, niet voor niets dat ik eerder op deze plek heb gesteld dat de FARC zich in de luren heeft laten leggen en men de organisatie niet had moeten ontmantelen……

Nu blijft de vraag nog over als de NAVO inderdaad meewerkt aan het moorden in Colombia, of Nederland hier in NAVO verband aan meewerkt, ofwel de vraag of Nederlands belastinggeld wordt misbruikt voor een enorm aantal moorden……..

Eén ding is zeker: niet FARC-EP is een terreurorganisatie, maar de rechtse doodseskaders, die voornamelijk worden bemenst door leden van de politie en het leger van Colombia, waarmee je het leger en de politie van Colombia ook tot terreurgroepen kan rekenen…..

psychopathische oorlogsmisdadiger Bolton heeft Rusland, China en Iran

Daarvoor
haalt Bolton de Monroe Doctrine aan, een paar honderd jaar oude VS
regel dat geen landen van buiten Latijns-Amerika zich mogen bemoeien
met de landen in dat deel van de drie Amerika’s…… Ofwel een regel
van de destijds al knettergekke en agressieve psychopathische VS, dat bijvoorbeeld Europeanen heeft verboden in de door de VS geclaimde ‘achtertuin’ Latijns-Amerika, landen te helpen tegen de ongebreidelde agressie van diezelfde VS…..*

Bolton
zei zonder blikken of blozen dat de belangen van de VS in Venezuela
niet geschaad mogen worden door Rusland, China, Iran en Cuba….
Anders gezegd: Bolton ziet Venezuela als een deel van de VS, met één
van de grootste olievoorraden ter wereld in de bodem, bovendien een
groot leverancier van coltan, een belangrijk erts dat vooral in
smartphones wordt gebruikt….

De VS
heeft vanaf haar oprichting, gebaseerd op de genocide van de
oorspronkelijke volkeren, niet anders gedaan dan oorlogvoeren,
moorden, stoken en opstanden organiseren in Latijns-Amerika……. Hoe
durft de psychopathische mafketel Bolton dan anderen te dreigen die het
Venezolaanse volk te hulp komen, NB nadat de VS dit volk van alles heeft
ontzegt met haar geheime economische oorlog en de later ingestelde
sancties tegen het Venezolaanse volk, want daar komt het op neer!!

De psychopathische gek Bolton stelde voorts dat Colombia en Brazilië ‘miljoenen Venezolaanse vluchtelingen’ herbergen, een cijfer dat niet is te controleren en wat m.i. wel aan de erg grote kant ligt, maar ja Bolton is met name goed in liegen en zwaar overdrijven……. Verder wordt Colombia bedreigd door de terroristische organisaties FARC en ELN, aldus Bolton, waaruit blijkt dat deze zogenaamde buitenlanddeskundige van de VS niet op de hoogte is van het feit dat de FARC (jammer genoeg) is ontmanteld….. 

Dat Bolton een aartsleugenaar is bleek wel uit het feit dat hij Maduro een dictator noemt, terwijl hij democratisch is gekozen, verkiezingen die door internationale waarnemers werden beoordeeld als eerlijk en goed verlopen…….. 

De VS gaat het liefst voor een vreedzame oplossing, zo stelde Bolton….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Oh, vandaar de economische oorlog tegen het volk van Venezuela…. Vandaar ook het saboteren van de elektriciteitslevering in Venezuela….. Of wat dacht je van de ontdekking vorig jaar dar de VS wapens leverde, verstopt tussen humanitaire hulpgoederen (de reden dat Venezuela geen hulp uit de VS wenst)…..

Volgens Bolton leven er 40.000 of 50.000 VS burgers in Venezuela, gezien het verschil van 10.000 kunnen het er ook 20.000 zijn, als er al zoveel VS burgers in dat land wonen. Bovendien geeft Bolton ongelofelijk dom toe dat de VS landen waar het bijvoorbeeld militaire bases heeft (800 wereldwijd!!), ziet als een onderdeel van de VS….. 

De hoogste tijd dat landen waar veel VS burgers wonen, deze zogenaamde Amerikanen beter op het vliegtuig kunnen zetten en de VS per direct verordonneert haar militaire bases te ontmantelen en voorgoed op te rotten!

ready to combat Russia, China, Iran in Venezuela: Bolton

BEIRUT,
LEBANON (9:00 P.M.) – U.S. National Security adviser John Bolton
issued a stern warning this week to the countries that are viewed as
obstacles to Washington’s influence in Latin America.

When
asked by Newsweek radio
host Hugh Hewitt about the arrival Russian, Chinese, and Iranian
planes to support the government of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela,
Bolton responded, “President Trump is determined not to see
Venezuela fall under the sway of foreign powers.”

The
national security adviser then discussed the Monroe Doctrine, which
was established under the fifth U.S. President, James Monroe, in the
early 19th century.

The
Monroe Doctrine was used to curb European influence in the Americas
and has been the foundation of much of Washington’s policies in
Latin America.

“If
the Monroe Doctrine fails, if China and Russia, along with Cuba,
establish domination over Venezuela, I think American strategic
interests will be harmed,” Bolton said. “And as I said at the
beginning, the people of Venezuela will be trapped in this
dictatorship. We are seeing here the palpable proof of eight years of
Obama administration policy mistakes.”

Bolton
said that the U.S. prefers a peaceful transition to power in
Venezuela, despite his “all options on the table” comments.

“Look,
our objective is a peaceful transition of power to Juan Guaidó and
the opposition,” Bolton continued. “But let’s not forget we’ve
got between 40,000 to 50,000 American citizens in Venezuela.”

“We’ve
got countries, as you mentioned, Colombia and Brazil on the border
with millions of Venezuelan refugees who have come across. We’ve
got terrorist organizations like the ELN [National Liberation Army]
and FARC [Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia] who threaten
Colombia,” he said, adding that “we’re going to protect
American national interest, and Maduro and his cronies ought to know
that President Trump is very serious when he says all options are on
the table.”

InformationClearing House bracht gisteren een artikel over de plannen
van de VS met Latijns-Amerika, van belang nu het er toch op lijkt dat
de VS aanzienlijke troepenverminderingen zal doorvoeren in het
Midden-Oosten.

Thierry
Mason, de schrijver van het artikel gaat uitvoerig in op de bestaande
status quo in Latijns-Amerika, waar bijvoorbeeld Venezuela al tijden
in de schijnwerpers staat. De VS is al jaren bezig met een
economische oorlogsvoering tegen Venezuela, waarbij o.a. de VS
winkelketens voor levensmiddelen al een aantal jaren geleden onder druk
werden gezet door de Obama administratie hun winkels en magazijnen in Venezuela niet langer te
bevoorraden……

Deze
smerige ‘tactiek’ heeft deels gewerkt, de middenstand en de hogere
klasse gooiden de kont tegen de krib en met uiterst gewelddadige
demonstraties probeerde men Maduro tot aftreden te dwingen en zoals
we weten is dit niet gelukt. Men gaf de regering Maduro de schuld van dat geweld, echter uit beelden bleek dat veel demonstranten gewapend waren en op de politie schoten, naar verluid ging het hier om door de VS aangevoerde terroristen…..

Bolton
heeft Venezuela, Cuba* en Nicaragua aangewezen als as van het kwaad in
Latijns-Amerika en heeft gesteld dat de VS daar wil ingrijpen, ofwel er staan weer nieuwe illegale oorlogen van de VS op stapel….. De NAVO heeft in opdracht van haar
bevelhebber, de VS Columbia toegelaten als lid van deze ‘Noord
Atlantische Verdragsorganisatie…..’ (ha! ha! ha! ha!) Intussen schijnt terreurorganisatie NAVO twee
militaire bases te hebben in dat land, dicht op de grens met o.a. Venezuela…….

Voorts
heeft de VS landen als Brazilië in de zak (dat overigens onder
fascist Bolsonaro nauw samenwerkt met terreurstaat Israël). Guyana (eerder Brits-Guiana genoemd) een ander buurland van Venezuela, wordt zoals de voormalige naam al zegt in feite door
Groot-Brittannië gecontroleerd en bestuurd, GB ook al geen vriend van Venezuela, om
het maar zachtjes uit te drukken…….. En dan beste bezoeker is daar…
Nederland dat een dikke vinger in de Antilliaanse pap heeft, waar de
Nederlandse marine in het gebied van de Antilliaanse eilanden (relatief dicht op Venezuela) nauw samenwerkt met de VS, zogenaamd alleen tegen
drugssmokkelaars, echter je hoeft geen universitaire graad te hebben
om te begrijpen dat deze samenwerking veel verder gaat dan het
tegengaan van drugssmokkel…..

Na 13.00 u. vanmiddag kwam WDR nog eens met een aantal leugens over Maduro, dit n.a.v. de inauguratie van Maduro voor zijn tweede termijn als president. Zo werd gesteld dat het grootste deel van de Venezolaanse bevolking tegen Maduro is, dit is een grove leugen, de meerderheid staat wel degelijk achter Maduro, t.w. de grote onderlaag van die bevolking……. Uiteraard werd weer gesteld dat Maduro een desastreus economisch beleid voert, met geen woord werd over de economische oorlog van de VS tegen dat land gesproken, waardoor bijvoorbeeld zelfs medicijnen moeilijk of niet te krijgen zijn, het blokkeren van dergelijke importen is zonder meer een ernstige oorlogsmisdaad……

Lees het volgende artikel van Meyssan en geeft het ajb door, de wereld zit allesbehalve te wachten op oorlogen in Latijns-Amerika. De VS dient zich eindelijk terug te trekken op eigen grondgebied en het fascisme dat ook in Latijns-Amerika op weg terug is naar de macht, moet de pas afgesneden worden, deze ultrarechtse schoften die al zoveel ellende hebben gebracht over de wereld, moeten worden bestreden, voor ze nog veel meer onheil kunnen aanrichten! Opvallend ook het bericht dat de zoon van de Surinaamse president Bouterse niet werd gearresteerd vanwege drugssmokkel, maar vanwege zijn poging het Libanese Hezbollah te introduceren in Suriname….. Dino Bouterse werd in 2013 ondanks zijn diplomatieke paspoort in Panama (dat onder controle van de VS staat) gearresteerd (!!) en uitgeleverd aan de VS waar hij werd veroordeeld tot 16 jaar cel……

The
Terrible Forthcoming Destruction of the “Caribbean Basin”

President
Trump has announced the withdrawal of US combat troops from the «
Greater Middle East », but the Pentagon is still pursuing the
implementation of the Rumsfeld-Cebrowski plan. This time the aim is
to destroy the States of the “Caribbean Basin “. This is
nothing like the overthrow of pro-Soviet regimes, as in the 1970’s,
but the destruction of all regional State structures, without
consideration for friends or political enemies. Thierry Meyssan
observes the preparations for this new series of wars.

Clearing House” –     In a
series of previous articles, we presented the SouthCom plan to
provoke wars between the Latin-American nations in order to destroy
the structures of all the States in the « Caribbean Basin » [1].


Preparations
for wars of this magnitude, intended to follow on from the conflicts
in the « Greater Middle East » according to the Rumsfeld-Cebrowski
strategy, requires a decade [2].


After
the period of economic destabilisation [3]
and that of military preparation, the actual operation should begin
in the years to come by an attack on Venezuela by Brazil (supported
by Israël), Colombia (an ally of the United States) and Guyana (in
other words, the United Kingdom). It will be followed by others,
beginning with Cuba and Nicaragua (the « troïka of tyranny »
according to John Bolton).


However,
the original plan may be modified, particularly because of the return
of the imperial ambitions of the United Kingdom [4]
which may influence the Pentagon.

This
is where we are now :

The
evolution of Venezuela

Venezuelan
President Hugo Chávez had developed relations with the « Greater
Middle East » on an ideological basis. He had in particular grown
closer to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President
Bachar el-Assad. Together, they had imagined the possibility of
founding an intergovernmental organisation, the « Free Allies
Movement », on the model of the « Non-Aligned Movement », which
was paralysed by the alignment with the United States, over time, of
certain of its members [5].

Although
Nicolas Maduro adopted the same language as Hugo Chávez, he chose a
very different foreign policy. It is true that he continued the
rapprochement with Russia and, in his turn welcomed Russian bombers
to Venezuela. He signed a contract to import 600,000 tonnes of wheat
in order to deal with starvation in his country. Above all, he
prepared to receive six billion dollars of investments, including
five in the oil sector. Russian engineers took over the posts which
were intended for Venezuelan workers but which they had abandoned.

Nicolas
Maduro reorganised the alliances of his country on new foundations.
He wove close links with Turkey, which is a member of NATO and whose
army presently occupies Northern Syria. Maduro went to Istanbul on
four occasions and Erdoğan went once to Caracas.

Switzerland
was an ally of Hugo Chávez, and had advised him for the composition
of his Constitution. Fearing that he would be unable to refine his
country’s gold in Switzerland, Nicolas Maduro looked to Turkey,
which transformed the raw material into bullion. In the past, this
gold had remained in Swiss banks as a guarantee for oil contracts.
From now on, the liquid assets were transferred to Turkey, while the
newly treated gold returned to Venezuela. This orientation may be
interpreted as being no longer founded on ideology, but on interest.
Everything depends on who benefits.

Simultaneously,
Venezuela became the target of a destabilisation campaign which began
with the guarimbas demonstrations, continued with
the attempted coup d’etat on 12 February 2015 (« Operation Jericho
»), then by a series of attacks on the national currency, and
organised emigration. In this context, Turkey offered Venezuela the
possibility of avoiding US sanctions. The exchanges between the two
countries multiplied fifteen-fold in 2018.

Whatever
the evolution of the Venezuelan régime, nothing can justify what is
being prepared against its population.

Coordination
of logistical means

From
31 July to 12 August 2017, SouthCom organise a vast exercise with
more than 3,000 men from 25 allied states, including France and the
United Kingdom. The goal was to prepare a swift landing for troops in
Venezuela [6].

Colombia

Colombia
is a state, but not a nation. Its population lives geographically
separate according to social class, with enormous differences in the
quality of life. Almost no Colombian has ever spent time in a
neighbourhood attributed to another social class than their own. This
strict separation has made possible the multiplication of
paramilitary forces and consequently armed interior conflicts which
have caused more than 220,000 victims in thirty years.

In
power since August 2018, President Iván Duque has challenged the
fragile peace concluded with the FARC by his predecessor, Juan Manuel
Santos – but not with the ELN. He has not dismissed the option of a
military intervention against Venezuela. According to Nicolas Maduro,
the United States are currently training 734 mercenaries in a
training camp situated in Tona with a view to carrying out a false
flag operation intended to spark a war with Venezuela. Taking into
account the sociological particularity of Colombia, it is impossible
to determine with certainty whether or not the training camp is
controlled by Bogota.

Guyana

In
the 19th century, the colonial powers agreed to a frontier between
British Guyana (presently Guyana) and Dutch Guyana (presently
Surinam). but no text has ever defined the frontier between the
British zone and the Spanish zone (presently Venezuela).
Consequently, Guyana administrates 160,000 km2 of forest which is
still a source of dispute with its larger neighbour. By virtue of the
Geneva agreement of 17 February 1966, the two states deferred to the
Secretary General of the UNO (at that time the Burmese U Thant).
Nothing has changed since then – Guyana has proposed to bring the
case before the UNO** Permanent Court of Arbitration, while Venezuela
prefers direct negotiations.

This
territorial dispute does not seem particularly urgent, because the
contested area is an uninhabited forest which was believed to be
without value – however, it is a huge area which represents two
thirds of Guyana. The Geneva agreement has been violated 15 times by
Guyana, which specifically authorised the exploitation of a gold
mine. Above all, the stakes were raised in 2015 with the discovery by
ExxonMobil of oil deposits in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly in the
territorial waters of the contested zone.

The
population of Guyana is composed of 40 % Indians, 30 % Africans, 20 %
mixed race and 10 % American Indians. The Indians are a strong
presence in the civil services and the Africans in the army.

On
21 December, a vote of no confidence was lodged against the
government of President David Granger, a pro-British, anti-Venezuelan
General, in power since 2015. To everyone’s surprise, a deputy,
Charrandas Persaud, voted against his own party, and in an atmosphere
of indescribable chaos, provoked the fall of the government which had
only a one-vote majority. Since then, the country is in a state of
great instability – we do not know whether President Granger, who is
presently undergoing chemotherapy, will be able to handle current
affairs, while Charrandas Persaud left Parliament with an escort, via
a back door, and has fled to Canada.

On
22 December 2018, in the absence of a government, the Ramform
Tethys (under the flag of the Bahamas) and the Delta
Monarch (Trinidad and Tobago) undertook submarine
explorations in the contested zone on behalf of Exxon-Mobil.
Considering that this intrusion violated the Geneva agreement, the
Venezuelan army chased the two ships away. The Guyanese Minister for
Foreign Affairs, working with current affairs, declared it a hostile
act.


The
United Kingdom Minister for Defense, Gavin Williamson, declared to
the Sunday
Telegraph on
30 December 2018 that the Crown was putting an end to decolonisation,
which had been Whitehall’s doctrine since the Suez affair in 1956.
London is preparing to open a new military base in the Caribbean (for
the moment the UK has bases only in Gibraltar, Cyprus, Diego Garcia
and on the Falkland islands). The new base could be situated on
Montserrat (West Indies), or more probably in Guyana, and should be
operational in 2022 [7].

Guyana
is a neighbour of Surinam (Dutch Guyana). Its President, Desi
Bouterse, is wanted in Europe for drug trafficking – an affair
which pre-dated his election. But his son, Dino, was arrested in
Panama in 2013, despite the fact that he entered that country under a
diplomatic passport. He was extradited to the United States where he
was sentenced to 16 years of prison for drug trafficking – in reality
because he was setting up the Lebanese Hezbollah in Surinam.

Brazil

In
May 2016, Henrique Meirelles, the Minister of Finance for the
transitional government of Libano-Brazilian Michel Temer, nominated
Israelo-Brazilian Ilan Goldfajn as director of the Central Bank.
Mereilles had also presided the Committee for the preparation of the
Olympic Games, calling on Tsahal to coordinate the Brazilian army and
police, thus guaranteeing the security of the Games. Simultaneously
controlling the Central Bank, the army and the police of Brazil,
Israël had no difficulty in supporting the popular movement of
dissatisfaction in the face of the incompetence of the Workers’
Party.

Believing
– without any solid proof – that Presidente Dilma Rousseff had fudged
the public accounts in the context of the Petrobras scandal, the
parliamentarians impeached her in August 2016.

During
the Presidential election of 2018, candidate Jair Bolsonaro went to
Israël to be baptised in the waters of the Jordan, and consequently
obtained a massive percentage of the evangelical vote. He was elected
with General Hamilton Mourão as his Vice-President. During the
period of transition, Mourão declared that Brazil should prepare to
send men to Venezuela as a « peace force » once President Maduro
had been overthrown – comments which constitute a barely-disguised
threat which President Bolsonaro attempted to downplay.

In
an interview on 3 January 2019, on the TV channel SBT, President
Bolsonaro spoke of negotiations with the Pentagon concerning the
possibility of creating a US military base in Brazil. This

whom their country is capable of defending itself without assistance.

Benjamin

During
his investiture on 2 January 2019, the new President welcomed Israëli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was the first time that an
Israëli personality of this importance had been to Brazil. On this
occasion, President Bolsonaro announced the coming transfer of the
Brazilian embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem.


US
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who also went to the investiture,
where he met Peruvian Minister for Foreign Affairs Néstor Popolizio,
announced with President Bolsonaro his intention to fight with him
against the « authoritarian régimes » of Venezuela and Cuba.
Returning to the United States, he stopped over in Bogota to meet
with Colombian President Iván Duque. The two men agreed to work for
the diplomatic isolation of Venezuela. On 4 January 2019, the 14
States of the Lima Group (including Brazil, Colombia and Guyana) met
to agree that Nicolas Maduro’s new mandate, which begins on 10
January, is « illegitimate » [8].
This communiqué has not been signed by Mexico. Apart from this, six
of the member-States lodged a complaint with the International
Criminal Tribunal*** against President Nicolas Maduro for crimes against
humanity. It
is perfectly clear today that the process towards war is under way.
Enormous forces are in play, and there is little that can be done to
stop them now. It is in this context that Russia is studying the
possibility of setting up a permanent aero-naval base in Venezuela.
The island of La Orchila – where President Hugo Chávez was held
prisoner during the coup d’etat of April 2002 – would enable the
storing of strategic bombers. This would constitute a much greater
threat to the United States than the Soviet missiles stationed in
Cuba in 1962.

De Colombiaanse verzetsbeweging FARC
heeft een paar jaar geleden een vredesverdrag gesloten met de
Colombiaanse regering en sinds die tijd is het geweld flink toegenomen tegen de
arme bevolking en tegen de ngo’s die zich inzetten voor deze
vooral oorspronkelijke bevolking, hetzij op het gebied van
mensenrechten bescherming dan wel milieubescherming…… (deze 2 zaken zijn verbonden, zoals je begrijpt)

Eric
Draitser is de schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel dat
gisteren werd gepubliceerd op CounterPunch. Hij meldt o.a. de moord
afgelopen week op Edwin Dagua Ipia, de gouverneur van de
oorspronkelijke bevolking in de provincie (‘departement’) Cauca ten zuiden van
de belangrijke stad Cali dat in de aangrenzende provincie Valle del Cauca ligt……..

afgelopen jaar werden in Colombia zelfs meer dan 100 moorden gepleegd op
mensenrechtenadvocaten en op leden van de gemarginaliseerde en
onderdrukte bevolkingsgroepen, zo meldt het Washington Office on
Latin America (WOLA)…….

Het
aantal moorden is toegenomen sinds Ivan Duque (Márquez) werd gekozen tot president, een  fascist en vriend van de voormalige rechtse corrupte president
en opperploert Álvaro Uribe…….

Er is nu
zelfs sprake van misdaden tegen de menselijkheid, aldus WOLA…… Duque laat deze doodseskaders gewoon hun gang gaan, niet zelden worden deze eskaders dan ook bevolkt door militairen en politiepersoneel……

Het is
al een schande van formaat dat de NAVO een land als Colombia toelaat tot het bondgenootschap, dezelfde NAVO waarvan Nederland één van
de leden is, de NAVO een terreurorganisatie die nu al minstens 2 militaire bases heeft in Colombia…..
De aansluiting van Colombia bij de NAVO werd onder Uribe voor elkaar
gebokst, ten overvloede het teken dat de NAVO schijt heeft aan
mensenrechtenschendingen, terwijl deze terreurorganisatie daar wel
mee schermt als het bijvoorbeeld om Rusland of Iran gaat…… 

De NAVO heeft overigens nooit moeite gehad met dictaturen, zie de voormalige dictaturen Spanje, Griekenland en Turkije (de laatste is intussen weer een dictatuur), alle 3 dictaturen die lid waren van de NAVO, terwijl de NAVO top, als de VS (haar feitelijke baas), de vuilbek niet kon en kan houden over het ‘bevorderen van democratie in de wereld….’ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

De hoogste tijd
voor de FARC de wapens weer op te nemen, zeker gezien het feit dat de
rechtse doodseskaders gewoon doorgaan met hun moorden, verkrachtingen en martelingen van socialisten,
mensenrechtenactivisten, milieuactivisten en advocaten die zich
inzetten voor het arme deel van de Colombiaanse volk, waaronder zich zoals gezegd ook de oorspronkelijke bevolking bevindt…….. Doodseskaders die de
deze bevolkingsgroepen ronduit terroriseren…..

Draitser
richt zich in zijn artikel ook op de fascistische president Bolsonaro
en wat zijn wanbeleid betekent voor het arme deel van de Braziliaanse
bevolking…….. Zo is het hek nu helemaal van de dam wat betreft de
oorspronkelijke volkeren in het Amazone gebied, hun gronden worden met
veel geweld overgenomen, zonder dat de verantwoordelijke psychopaten
bang hoeven te zijn voor het ingrijpen van de overheid….. 

Bolsonaro
liet al weten dat wat hem betreft het Amazonewoud mag worden
gebulldozerd……. Je begrijpt dat e.e.a. gepaard zal gaan met een groot
aantal moorden, zoals dat nu eigenlijk al praktijk is….. Het werkelijke aantal doden zal wel nooit bekend
worden, daar de gebieden waar het over gaat zo uitgestrekt zijn en
er amper telefoonverkeer mogelijk is anders dan met
satelliettelefoons….

Killing
Fields of Colombia and Brazil

In
Colombia, the last week has been a particularly bloody one for
indigenous leaders. In the state of Cauca, just south of the major
city of Calí, the indigenous governor Edwin Dagua Ipia
was assassinated after
having received numerous death threats from paramilitaries in the
area. He is one of at least ten indigenous people murdered in the
country just in the last week.

In
fact, according to the Washington Office on Latin America
(WOLA), more
than 100 assassinations of
human rights advocates and members of marginalized and oppressed
communities have taken place just in 2018. There is a sense among
observers that the killings have escalated since the election of Ivan
Duque, the young right wing president and close ally of former
president and international criminal Alvaro Uribe.

In
a damning report published
by the Consultancy on Human Rights and Displacement (CODHES), the
human rights NGO noted that 35% of the social leaders and activists
murdered belonged to ethnic minorities (19% Afro-Colombian, 15%
indigenous), a staggering figure which demonstrates just how targeted
those groups are, considering the proportion of violence with which
they’re targeted versus their total share of the national
population. Moreover, CODHES indicated that:

“Approximately
50 percent of the victims were authorities or representatives of
ethnic territories and organizations. Another 36 percent were
community or union leaders, 8 percent land rights claimants and 6
percent are members of the family of women social leaders. The worst
affected regions in order of total numbers were Cauca, Valle del
Cauca, Antioquia, Chocó, and Córdoba.”

The
continued killings have drawn the attention of the United Nations,
though little has been done to stem the tide, particularly as the
government of Ivan Duque has slithered into power. Luis Guillermo
Pérez Casas, a lawyer with the Colectivo
de Abogados José Alvear Restrepo (CCAJAR),
explained in a report jointly submitted with the European Center for
Constitutional and Human Rights, that the killings, and total
impunity due to government inaction, rise to the level of crimes
against humanity.

He told
the Guardian that:

“The
murders of our colleagues must stop…We hope the Office of the
Prosecutor of the ICC will warn the Colombian government that if the
impunity persists, they will be forced to open an investigation into
those responsible, at the highest level… The peace process is
failing because there’s a lack of implementation of the agreement.
The process that was agreed upon has not been delivered.”

International
human rights organizations have also raised the alarm about the
violence and assassinations in Colombia. In early 2018, after the
killing of 10 human rights activists, Amnesty
International issued a report which
called on the Colombian government to protect at-risk activists,
especially those in remote parts of the country, who face
extraordinary risks from paramilitaries and contract killers.
Similarly, Human
Rights Watch called on the Colombian governmentto
do more to protect activists after a very bloody 2016. Sadly, the
situation has only gotten worse.

Brazil’s
War on Activists

The
election of the fascist Jair Bolsonaro, the man who as candidate
promised to open up the Amazon to mining and other environmentally
harmful, extractive industries, has sent a very dangerous signal to
indigenous and peasant groups in Brazil that the impunity that has
long existed will only expand further while their rights are
curtailed.

Bolsonaro
represents a unique threat to activists from all spheres, especially
indigenous and peasant communities who stand in the way of the right
wing goal of stripping land rights from those groups in the interests
of corporate investors and international financiers. And unlike the
somewhat more muted (though no less destructive) rhetoric from the
traditional neoliberal right, Bolsonaro and his far right, fascist
politics will likely escalate the war on oppressed groups from
simmering to white hot.

Speaking
of the potential impact of Bolsonaro on the already ghastly violence
against activists, Brazil-based independent journalist Michael Fox
explained to me that:

“It’s
still very early to tell the effect his election has had. Violence
spiked in the lead-up to the second round vote, but there has been a
lull since the election while people regroup The recent killing of
[two] Landless Workers’ Movement (MST) leaders was very likely a
sign of things to come.”

Fox’s
analysis, which is no doubt accurate, reflects the general sense of
anxiety about the future, especially in the wake of the most recent
assassinations which he referenced.

On
the night of December 8, 2018 two leaders of the Landless Workers’
Movement (MST) were assassinated in
the state of Paraiba in the Northeast of the country. Their deaths,
in an area regarded as a traditional stronghold of the left, have
left many asking just what the future holds for activists in Brazil.

The
assassinations are certainly not the first high-profile killings of
social movement activists in Brazil in recent years, though they have
received some added attention given that they come on the heels of
the Bolsonaro victory – a worrying signal for some that the
horrendous violence is only going to escalate.

To
put it in perspective, the Brazilian religious advocacy group
Comissão Pastoral da Terra – CPT (Pastoral Land Commission)
released a thorough report which found that:

The
brutal reality of Brazil’s rural areas has become increasingly
harsher since 2013, back when 34 murders were recorded. In four
years, these figures have increased by 105%, reaching 70
executions in 2017 –  a 15% increase over 2016.

It
should be noted that, of course, this shocking rise in volence cannot
be attributed to Bolsonaro himself, but rather to deeper structural
and economic factors, in particular corproate privatization. As CPT
coordinator Ruben Siqueira explained to
Brasil de Fato:

We
see this as a new land rush, in which land is a means of production,
a store of value, like wood, water, ore, agribusiness, expansion of
land-based businesses. This has to do with the financial crisis that
started in 2008 with the speculative bubble. Since then, the
hegemonic capitalist sector, which is financial capital, is looking
for backing, something that can support this international
speculative game

Indeed,
it seems the escalation of violence against indigenous and peasant
activists is directly connected to the growing need for consolidation
of land and natural resources resulting from the econmoic downturn of
the last ten years. However, it is perhaps even more precise to
pinpoint the drop in commodity prices, most conspicuously the
collapse of oil prices in 2014-2015, as one of the primary drivers of
this renewed push for capital accumulation.

And
though this process was jumpstarted during the tenure of Dilma
Rousseff and the Workers’ Party (PT), it has picked up momentum
under the right wing Temer government. And it’s about to go into
overdrivwe with Bolsonaro taking power. For it is Bolsonaro himself
who has promised
to open up as much protected land as possible to
big business.

Indeed,
within days of Bolsonaro’s victory, reports began to circulate that
indigenous lands were being invaded and/or seized, with all the
attendant violence one would expect. As Beto Marubo, a native leader
from the Javari Valley Indigenous Land in Brazil’s far
west, explainedto
National Geographic, “Many brothers tell us there are invasions,
people entering the territories with no regard for the rules and no
fear of the authorities.” This final point is critical because
while impunity has long been the norm in Brazil, the utter disregard
for any semblance of governmental or law enforcement oversight will
likely increase underr Bolsoanro who has all but given his blessing
to displacement and violence against these groups.

Ultimately,
the struggle is about land rights, especially for the indigenous
peoples who have fought for official demarcation of lands for
decades.

Dinamã
Tuxá, Coordinator of Brazil’s Association of Indigenous Peoples
(APIB) summed
it up neatly:

This
scenario is totally heartbreaking. Bolsonaro has made clear and
consistent declarations about ending the titling of indigenous lands,
which are completely opposed to our rights. His racist, homophobic,
misogynist, fascist discourse shows how Brazilian politics will be in
the coming years… His discourse gives those who live around
indigenous lands the right to practice violence without any sort of
accountability. Those who invade indigenous lands and kill our people
will be esteemed. He represents an institutionalization of genocide
in Brazil.

Of
course it must be remembered that Afro-Brazilian communities will be
targeted as well. Marielle Franco’s assassination in March 2018 was
in many ways a watershed moment for the social movements in the
country. However, rather than driving positive political change on
the national level, Brazil has instead elected a fascist leader who
praises the extrajudicial methods historically employed by the
dictatorship and its enablers in the country.  It remains to be
seen how the left can regroup, respond, and reestablish its political
power.

One
thing is certain in both Brazil and Colombia: the far right is in
power, and that means the war on social movements and activists is
only just getting started.

And
while it may seem bleak as we read about seemingly daily atrocities
visited upon the indigenous and poor of these (and other Latin
American) countries, we cannot simply despair. Instead, we must
organize and mobilize. For those of us in the Global North, that
means doing what we can to be in solidarity with these activists,
helping to build power internationally.

Duque,
Bolsonaro, and the far right of Latin America may have ascended to
power, but they are not omnipotent.

Now
is the time for organizing; the time for struggle; the time for
resistance.

De war on drugs is veel dodelijker dan over het algemeen gedacht

De
war on drugs is veel dodelijker dan u zich realiseert, zo luidt de
kop boven een artikel van Brian Saady. Daar moet ik hem toch
corrigeren, die oorlog is veel dodelijker dan gedacht door het publiek dat hier
weinig of geen aandacht voor heeft, immers er wordt behoorlijk bericht over het enorme aantal doden dat
jaarlijks valt in Mexico en in andere Midden- en Zuid-Amerikaanse
landen, plus de VS….* Neem alleen al de massagraven die men in Mexico heeft ontdekt (en nog zal ontdekken…)…..


Voorts komt Saady met beschuldigingen als zou Hezbollah verantwoordelijk zijn voor drugssmokkel, een vaststelling die eerder al onderuit werd gehaald vanwege het ontbreken van enig bewijs……. Hetzelfde geldt voor zijn uitlating t.a.v. de Koerdische PKK……….

Jammer
ook dat Saady volkomen negatief spreekt over de FARC, terwijl deze
organisatie bijzonder veel heeft gedaan bijvoorbeeld t.b.v. de kleine
boeren en een groot aantal van hen heeft bescherming gekregen van de FARC tegen de willekeur
van het leger, de politie, de rechtse doodseskaders (die samen met
politie en leger) alles wat maar links rook, als het even kon (en nog
kan) vermoordde……. Waar de grootgrondbezitters en hun legertjes aan
‘beveiligers’ in Colombia ‘natuurlijk’ hun steentje aan bij hebben gedragen, sterker nog: de doodseskaders werden en worden gesteund door die grootgrondbezitters……

Je zou bijna denken dat vooral links verzet tegen willekeur de grote drugskartels vormen, echter dit is uiteraard grote flauwekul!

accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in 2016, Colombian President Juan
Manuel Santos said:

“The
manner in which this war against drugs is being waged is equally or
perhaps even more harmful than all the wars the world is fighting
today, combined.”

The
death toll from the drug war is much less than the actual warfare
throughout the world. However, his sentiment is quite appropriate

prevented with a flick of a pen by ending the War on Drugs.

Cartels
and Violence

Imagine
if we could essentially eliminate the black market for drug
trafficking in Chicago, which has the highest number of gang members
and homicides. It’s estimated that up to 80
percent of
the city’s murders are gang-related. And one of the main causes of
this violence is connected to controlling turf for drug sales.

Gang
violence isn’t as rampant throughout the U.S., but the National
Gang Center estimated that 13
percent of
the murders in the U.S. are gang-related. That falls in line with a
similar report by Narco
News that
concluded that 1,100 drug war-related murders occur each year in the
U.S. Keep in mind, that figure is fairly conservative due to the lack
of full transparency with crime statistics.

The
U.S. represents the largest market in the world for illegal drugs.
Currently, there is a well-documented opioid crisis but the U.S. also
consumes more cocainethan
all of Europe—and by a wide margin. All told, the U.S. illegal drug
black market represents a $100
billion annual
industry.

Although
there is a serious black market violence problem in the U.S., it
pales in comparison to the countries that are source and
transshipment points of illegal drugs. For example, there were over
29,000 murders in Mexico last year with roughly 33–50
percent being
related to the drug war. That’s not factoring the 30,000 missing
persons who are presumed to be dead.

The
cartels conduct warfare in a brazen manner that is essentially
indistinguishable from terrorist groups. Their conduct is so brutal,
they have been known to hang rival gang members from bridges or
publicly put bounties on corrupt government officials. Narco money
has enabled these organized crime groups to operate with impunity.

The
latest example of this corruption involves the leader of the Los
Rojos cartel financing the
campaigns of 11 mayoral candidates in exchange for political
protection. Bear in mind, this isn’t a matter of simple greed. If
these officials don’t take the bribes, they’ll likely be killed.
After all, over 100
mayors have
been murdered in Mexico since 2006.

All
in all, narco money has corrupted every segment of the government
necessary to protect their organizations. (My free

gives much more detail of organized crime’s reign in Mexico.)

As
a matter of fact, Los Zetas have even corrupted the highest levels of
government in neighboring countries. The Ex-Vice President and former
Minister of Interior have each been arrested for allegedly accepting
bribes of $250,000 and $1.5
million,
respectively.

The
Los Zetas cartel is responsible for the worst massacre in Guatemala
since the civil war. In 2011, cartel members beheaded 27
innocent farmworkers in search of a ranch owner who the cartel
suspected of stealing a drug shipment.

Due
largely to the War on Drugs, the four countries immediately south of
Mexico (Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador) are listed
within the top six highest murder rates in the world. Furthermore,
nine out of the top
ten are
in Latin America or the Caribbean.

Likewise,
43 of the 50 cities with the highest murder
rates are
in Latin America or the Caribbean. Four of the remaining cities are
in the continental U.S., i.e. Baltimore, Detroit, New Orleans, and
St. Louis. Only three cities are not in this hemisphere (South
Africa).

Obviously,
there are a variety of factors that contribute to violence, notably
extreme poverty. One city on the list (San Juan, Puerto Rico) has had
fairly low
crime in
recent years, but Hurricane Maria brought about much instability to
the island.

Otherwise,
it’s clear that the War on Drugs is one of the leading factors to
the high violence. Mexico had 12 cities in the top 50, which was the
second highest number behind Brazil.

It’s
important to note, Brazil isn’t a major source of drug production.
However, it has historically been the second largest consumer market
for cocaine and it is the leading transshipment point
of illegal drugs into Europe, Africa, and Asia. This is evident in
the fact that 17 Brazilian cities are in the top 50 global homicide
rates. Fourteen of those cities are located along the Atlantic Coast,
which is prime real estate for drug trafficking.

This
violence isn’t a result of a “soft on crime” approach; the
Brazilian government takes the term “War on Drugs” literally.
Like Mexico, the military, along with the police, conduct law
enforcement operations and the results are predictable. The Brazilian
police kill an average of six
peopleeach
day. Remarkably, the police are responsible for roughly one out of
five murders in
Rio de Janeiro, with few being held accountable.

The
police, in many cases, are acting in self-defense. However, the
Brazilian government has essentially provided the police with
impunity for extrajudicial murder and they operate in a brazen
manner. In this video, for
example, the police performed a drive-by shooting of two unarmed
teenagers.

It
should also be noted that several of the gangs conduct open warfare
against the police. The most gruesome example occurred in Sao Paulo
in May of 2006. Over the course of a week, more than 150
people were
killed after Brazil’s most powerful gang, PCC, launched a wave of
attacks against multiple police stations. The police responded by
rounding up suspected gang members and executing them in kind.

Narco-Terrorism

As
you read more about the PCC and other criminal organizations, you are
likely to come across the term “narco-terrorism.” This term
was coined in
1982 by the President of Peru, Fernando Belaunde Terry.
Peru was and continues to be one of the top cocaine producers in the
world.

The
Peruvian communist terrorist group, Shining Path, has been largely
funded by “taxing” cocaine traffickers. Those profits have helped
them kill approximately 11,000
civilians.
Fortunately, the Shining Path’s membership numbers have drastically
dwindled and the organization is substantially less active.

Cocaine
money also played a major role in the 52-year Colombian civil war
that resulted in 220,000 deaths and over seven million domestic
refugees. Thankfully, the communist terrorist group, FARC, came
to a peace agreement in 2016. This group was responsible for numerous
bombings, kidnappings, and thousands of murders.

Most
of their members have agreed to lay down their arms. However, an
estimated 1,200
dissidents have
refused to leave the criminal underworld. Likewise, another communist
rebel group and officially designated terrorist group, ELN, has been
in on-and-off peace negotiations. However, their group has walked
away from the table, each time due to the tremendous profits from
cocaine.

Similarly,
Colombia’s former right-wing paramilitary terrorist group, AUC,
officially disbanded in 2006, but the majority of these men simply
splintered into various organized crime groups. The Colombian and
U.S. governments haven’t designated these groups as terrorists
because they seem to be more driven by greed than ideology.

However,
the tactics by Colombia’s crime groups are indisputably
terrorizing. These neo-paramilitary organized crime groups, known as
BACRIMs, exert totalitarian control in their territory. They
indiscriminately murder leftist activists, journalists, and human
rights workers. In some cases, they impose a 9
P.M. curfew and
invisible borders that are enforced with the death penalty. That’s
in addition to their brand of “social
cleansing,”
i.e. murdering homeless, drug addicts, LGTBQ, etc.

This
leads to a concept mentioned in academia, “the crime-terrorism
nexus.” In other words, the line dividing organized crime from
terrorism is increasingly blurry. Also, many terrorist
organizations fund their activities from crime.

Various
nations were listed earlier by the highest homicide rates. However,
those studies don’t include countries at war. With that in mind,
it’s no secret that both sides of the Afghanistan War are funded
with opium profits. The Taliban are grossing an estimated $400
million annually from drugs. For many years, the Taliban simply
“taxed” drug traffickers in their territory, but credible reports
suggest that they’ve expanded into production.

Of
the 64 foreign terrorist organizations designated by the U.S. State
Department, twenty-three profit from illegal drugs to some
degree. Albeit, drug money is generally a small portion of the
budget for most terrorist organizations and it is usually derived
from “taxing” drug traffickers rather than direct participation.

North
Africa has become a major drug transshipment point for South American
cocaine headed to Europe and Asia. Heroin from Asian countries is
also often smuggled through this region. As a result, the
Somali-based, Al Qaeda-linked terrorist group, al Shabaab and the
West-Africa based Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) profit from
this underground
market.
Boko Haram not only taxes traffickers, but the group has expanded
their role in this racket. Furthermore, ISIS has taxed shipments of
Moroccan hashish destined
for Europe by way of Libya.

On
the other hand, there are terror groups, such as the Kurdistan
Workers Party (PKK) and the Islamic

Movement
of Uzbekistan (UMI), that are directly responsible for smuggling
large quantities of illegal drugs, which comprises a large portion of
their funding.

The
U.S. Government’s Role

These
links between terrorism and drug trafficking, ironically, have
boosted the DEA in a self-serving manner. In 2006, Congress amended
the PATRIOT Act with a statute regarding
drug trafficking that directly or indirectly benefits a foreign
terrorist organization. As a result, the DEA’s international
jurisdiction and budget expanded tremendously.

However,
the agency has launched a series of high-profile cases that have
resulted in major headlines, instead of actual narco-terrorists being
captured. Case in point, three West Africans were indicted in 2009
from an undercover sting operation involving DEA informants who posed
as members of the FARC.

The
informants repeatedly told the traffickers that they wanted to do
business with Al Qaeda. Hence, these men simply pretended to
have links with a terrorist group to seal the deal. Nonetheless, this
aspect of the case hasn’t been widely reported and this case was a
major PR win for the DEA.

On
the other hand, the DEA had built a long-running and credible
investigation, Project Cassandra, against Hezbollah. Their group is
widely known as being sponsored by the Iranian government. However,
Hezbollah also has generated millions of dollars by smuggling
several tons of
South American cocaine. The group has business ties with the
Colombian FARC and the Brazilian PCC.

Several
high-level members of Hezbollah were implicated in Project Cassandra.
However, an impressive report by Politico revealed
that the Obama administration suppressed this investigation to help
finalize the nuclear deal with Iran.

One
of the open secrets of the War on Drugs is that the U.S. government,
among other nations, has given support to drug trafficking for
geopolitical purposes. In this case, the U.S. used the drug war as a
bargaining tool with an adversary.

However,
the U.S. government’s complicity with drug trafficking has
generally benefited its allies. That’s the case in the Afghanistan
War and it was certainly the case during the Vietnam War. Likewise,
drug money helped U.S. interests in dirty wars, such as the Contras
in Nicaragua or the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. Furthermore, several
narco-linked, right-wing dictators in Latin America, including Manuel
Noriega, have benefitted from strong U.S. support.

All
in all, there are many forms of violence resulting from the War on
Drugs. Nonetheless, our politicians have been unwilling to address
the root cause. As a result, government bureaucrats have pointed to
this violence to justify larger budgets for the drug war.

However,
with multiple decades of this failed policy behind us, we should
realize that the demand for illegal drugs will never decrease in a
substantial manner. Hence, continuing down this path will
continue to enable the violent tactics of low-level criminals, mafia
organizations, terrorists, dictators, and empire-driven governments.

Het feit dat de meeste drugs (en zelfs softdrugs) verboden zijn zorgt er uiteraard voor dat zoals gezegd de georganiseerde misdaad helemaal binnenloopt met de inkomsten uit die drugshandel. Zo kan je dan ook stellen dat regeringen die hard optreden tegen drugs, daarmee in feite lobbyen voor de drugsmaffia!!
