Te
gestoord voor woorden, maar gisteren was het de International ‘Talk
Like a Pirate Day’.
Je
had in de 16de, 17de en 18de eeuw piraten die werkten voor overheden
en schepen van de vijand onderschepten, leeghaalden en of de schepen
kaapten, dan wel lieten zinken. Deze piraten werkten met zogenaamde kaperbrieven van de regering voor wie ze werkten, vandaar dat men hen ‘kapers’ noemde.
De
andere (eigenlijke) piraten waren in feite opstandelingen die zich
tegen zaken als overheidscorruptie, kolonialisme en slavernij
verzetten. Deze piraten waren vooral de helden van de grote onderlaag
van de bevolking, die enorm te lijden hadden onder smerig
onderdrukkend overheidsbeleid van dictators die men koning of keizer
noemde……. De eerste echte democratieën waren dan ook gebieden die door piraten werden bestuurd.
In Nederland hadden we daar deze zogenaamde edelen, die tot koning of keizer waren gekroond, niet voor nodig…..(die edelen zijn afstammelingen van uiterst gewelddadige psychopaten) Zo gaf de VOC Zuid-Afrikaanse* kolonisten en bestuur begin 18de eeuw toestemming om de Bosjesmannen (een politiek incorrecte benaming), een volk dat men tegenwoordig aanduidt als de San, uit te roeien……

a global crisis and challenged the big slave trading countries –

were actually pretty popular and many common people did not consider
them criminals. They were considered heroes because they fought back
against the powerful and corrupt people of the day.

leegvissen van de kustwateren nog steeds……), de meeste van deze
piraten waren/zijn dan ook brodeloos geworden vissers……
Saoedi-Arabië heeft laten zien dat de excuses voor de aanval op een schoolbus vals waren en deze alleen heeft gemaakt voor de (wereld) ‘bühne’: afgelopen dinsdag bombardeerde deze reli-fascistische dictatuur een
busstation in Hodeida…… Het aantal doden (vermoord) ligt vooralsnog op 20, waaronder alweer een aantal kinderen……..
Kortom ook
nu weer kinderen tussen de vermoorde slachtoffers en ook nu werden de
straaljagers en bommenwerpers van de reli-fascistische dictatuur
Saoedi-Arabië in de lucht afgetankt door de vereniging van
terreurstaten, die men aanduidt als de VS……… Dezelfde VS die ook
de coördinatie doet voor de bombardementen van de Saoedische
terreurcoalitie……… Kortom ook al zouden de gebruikte bommen niet van VS makelij zijn, de VS blijft mede hoofdverantwoordelijk voor deze massamoorden….
De
genocide die S-A en haar terreurcoalitie, gesteund door NAVO partners
VS en Groot-Brittannië, voltrekt in Jemen, kan alweer niet rekenen
op de belangstelling van de wereld, er zijn geen lessen geleerd van
de genocide in Rwanda (die werd uitgevoerd in 1994)…..
Intussen
dreigt de VS zelfs het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) met geweld, daar dit orgaan
met het schaamrood op de kaken eindelijk onderzoek gaat doen naar de
enorme oorlogsmisdaden van de VS…….
Ongelofelijk
dat de rest van het westen de VS niet onmiddellijk heeft veroordeeld,
na die bedreiging aan het adres van het ICC…..* Zelfs Nederland niet….. Het voorgaande maakt dan ook meer dan duidelijk dat het westen niet wenst dat de VS veroordeeld wordt, waarmee je in feite kan stellen dat ook de rest van het westen mede verantwoordelijk is voor de gaande zijnde genocide in Jemen……
‘Fijn ook’ dat deze barbaarse daad van Saoedi-Arabië ‘zoveel aandacht kreeg in de Nederlandse reguliere media……’
Saudi
Warplanes Bomb Yemen Bus Station, Killing at Least 20 Civilians
Saudi
forces have carried out multiple attacks against Hodeidah in recent
days, trying to help Yemen forces attack the vital aid port. Yet as
has often been a problem with Saudi airstrikes in Yemen, their
targeting seems haphazard, and as likely to just hit a bus depot full
of civilians waiting to evacuate as any combatants.
Very
public incidents of civilian deaths, especially egregious cases of
killing children in buses, have meant a lot of patience with the
Saudi war has run out. Such incidents are likely to continue to
undermine what little international support the war still enjoys.
Hoe
is het mogelijk mensen, uit een eigen onderzoek (althans in opdracht
van de Saoedische coalitie*) blijkt dat de Saoedische aanval vorige maand op een schoolbus die zich op een markt bevond, ongerechtvaardigd was…… Bij die aanval kwamen 40 kinderen om het leven, later werd nog een schoolbus onder vuur genomen, daarbij werden 20 kinderen vermoord door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie…… (zie de eerste link onder het hierna opgenomen artikel van News Grid)
Niet
vreemd overigens, de uitkomst van dit onderzoek, daar het voor de
hele wereld wel duidelijk was, dat het hier niet om ‘terroristen’
ging (terwijl de grootste terroristen zich in deze Saoedische
coalitie bevinden….)….
De
verontwaardiging was dermate groot dat Saoedi-Arabie wel moest
toegeven dat het hier om een grove fout ging….. ‘De schuldigen
zullen worden gestraft’, zo heeft het opprcommando van de Saoedische
coalitie beloofd, echter die belofte zal niets waard blijken te zijn,
tenzij de Saoedische dictator een appeltje te schillen heeft met de
familie van de commandant die opdracht gaf tot ‘schieten’.
Triest
dat de belangstelling voor de genocide al weer wegebt in de reguliere
media, immers nog steeds gaat de Saoedische coalitie door met de
genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. Nadat de bus werd
geraakt, gebeurde dit, zoals gezegd, een paar dagen later nog eens, dit gaf ‘maar’
20 dode kinderen…….. Vergeleken bij de 40 kinderen waarvoor de coalitie zich
schuldig acht, was dit blijkbaar niet belangrijk genoeg om een nog grotere
verontwaardiging om te zetten in daden, zoals de eis aan de VS en GB
het moorddadig geteisem niet langer te coachen, te bevoorraden met
wapens, munitie en militaire hardware, enz….* De VS hoeft het maar te zeggen en S-A zal zich terugtrekken uit Jemen en stoppen met de genocide…… Je kan de imperialistische VS dan ook gerust
als hoofdverantwoordelijk aanwijzen!
Internationaal
Strafhof (ICC) doe je werk eindelijk en vervolg alle deelnemers, van
de Saoedische coalitie, dus ook de VS en GB voor genocide!! (andere
deelnemers aan deze coalitie zijn: Saoedi-Arabië (logisch), de
Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte en Marokko).
Saudi-UAE
coalition admits Yemen school bus bombing ‘unjustified’

Probe
by Saudi-UAE coalition launched after international condemnation over
air raid that killed 40 children.
Saudi
Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have admitted that
the bombing
of a school bus in
Yemen last month – which killed 51 people, including 40 children –
was “unjustified”.
A
probe by the coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi rebels concluded on
Saturday that “mistakes” had been made in the August 9 air
raid in Saada province.
At
the day of the attack, coalition spokesperson Colonel Turki al-Malki
had defended the air raid, saying his forces hit a “legitimate
military target”, which included “operators and planners”.
But
in a rare concession, the military alliance’s investigative
body, the Joint Incident Assessment Team (JIAT), said that those
behind it should be held accountable.
“The
Joint Team … is of the opinion that the coalition forces should
initiate legal action to try and penalize those responsible for the
mistakes, which caused collateral damage in the area,” Mansour
Ahmed al-Mansour, a legal adviser to JIAT, told reporters in the
Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Al
Jazeera’s Alan Fisher, reporting from neighbouring Djibouti, said the
statement marked a “remarkable about-turn” after the
coalition’s initial assertions that this was a legitimate military
operation.
“But
if you look at the actual wording … they are not saying that
there was a problem with killing children.
“What
they are saying is that this attack shouldn’t have taken place when
it did because they were targeting Houthi leaders, and they say …
their intelligence pointed in that direction but those Houthi leaders
at that stage did not present a threat to Saudi-led coalition forces
and therefore that operation shouldn’t have happened,” added
Fisher.
“They
say that intelligence was passed to the pilot who fired the fatal
missile but it never got there in time.”
Universal
condemnation
The
probe came after the air attack sparked widespread international
condemnation and calls for an independent investigation from the
United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.
Geert
Cappelaere, UNICEF’s regional director in the Middle East and North
Africa, tweeted at the time: “NO EXCUSES ANYMORE!!”
“Does
the world really need more innocent children’s lives to stop the
cruel war on children in Yemen?” he said.
Following
the attack, individual members of the Congress in the United States
also called on their country’s army to clarify its role in the war
and investigate whether support for the air raids could render US
military personnel “liable under the war crimes act”.
The
US has been the biggest supplier of military equipment to Riyadh,
with more than $90bn of sales recorded between 2010 and 2015.
Critical
reports
The
Saudi-UAE admission on Saturday came a week after Human Rights
Watch accused the
pair of reaching “dubious conclusions” in its post-air
attack analysis and failing to properly investigate alleged war
crimes.
In
a damning 90-page report, the rights group slammed JIAT for
“absolving coalition members of legal responsibility in the vast
majority of attacks”.
Separately,
the UN said this
week that all sides in Yemen’s bloody conflict may have
committed war crimes involving deadly air strikes, rampant sexual
violence, and the recruitment of child soldiers
Saudi
Arabia, along with the United Arab Emirates, has been bombing Yemen
since March 2015 after the Houthis swept across the country,
including the capital, Sanaa. The coalition’s stated aim is to
restore the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.
Out
of the 16,000-plus raids they have launched since the start of the
conflict, only a handful have been investigated, despite nearly a
third of all bombs hitting civilian targets.
Last
year, the UN blacklisted the Saudi-UAE alliance for causing the
majority of reported child deaths and injuries in Yemen.
* De Saoedische coalitie bestaat uit de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte, Marokko, uiteraard Saoedi-Arabië, Groot-Brittannië en de VS, waarbij de laatste 2 deze terreurcoalitie voorzien van wapens, munitie en militaire hardwaren (dus vliegend, varend en rollend oorlogstuig), waarbij deze beide landen militaire training geven aan de Saoedische troepen…. Daarnaast doet de VS de coördinatie van de bombardementen, tankt deze terreurentiteit de straaljagers en bommenwerpers van de moorddadige Saoedische coalitie af in de lucht, vecht het met grote regelmaat op Jemenitische bodem tegen de Houthi’s (niet tegen IS en Al Qaida, zoals de VS durft te beweren…) en helpt de VS met de genocide op de Jemenitische bevolking middels het mede uitvoeren van de zeeblokkade voor gebieden die in handen zijn van de Houthi rebellen, zodat voedsel, water, medicijnen en brandstof maar mondjesmaat de zo geplaagde sjiitische bevolking bereiken (gevolgen daarvan: honger, cholera en difterie, die een enorm aantal slachtoffers maken..)… Nogmaals: terwijl zich een genocide voltrekt in Jemen, kijkt de wereld alweer weg…….
De
VN bracht afgelopen dinsdag een rapport uit waarin Saoedi-Arabië
wordt beschuldigd van oorlogsmisdaden (!!) In het rapport is voorts
te lezen dat S-A zich schuldig heeft gemaakt aan het vermoorden van
duizenden Jemenieten (meer dan 30.000!!!), plus het verkrachten
en martelen van gevangenen…….
Uiteraard
ontkent de reli-fascistische dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië zoals gewoonlijk alle
beschuldigingen….. Ook zal het rapport niets
uithalen voor de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen waarop S-A bezig is
een genocide uit te voeren…… Die 30.000 doden zijn vooral door de
strijd gevallen, maar een enorm aantal mensen is intussen
overleden door tekorten aan medicijnen, water, voedsel en
elektriciteit (de laatste bijvoorbeeld voor ziekenhuizen). Alles het gevolg van
de smerige oorlog die S-A met hulp van de VS, GB , de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte en Marokko uitvoert in Jemen, aangevuld met de blokkades op land en zee (waar ook de VS controles uitvoert voor Saoedi-Arabië…)…..
Zo
is er door bombardementen op de infrastructuur al 2 jaar geleden cholera uitgebroken in Jemen, later werd daar de uiterst
besmettelijke en gevaarlijke ziekte difterie aan toegevoegd, dit bovenop de honger in Jemen, hongersnood waarvoor Nederland vorig jaar nog een landelijke actie
voerde…… Je kan dan ook inderdaad spreken van een genocide,
zeker als je ziet dat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie doelbewust ziekenhuizen heeft aangevallen en nog aanvalt…… Zoals een paar maanden geleden een nieuw,
nog te openen ziekenhuis van Artsen zonder Grenzen (MSF), speciaal
gebouwd om de cholera uitbraak onder controle te krijgen…….* Opvallend, ik zocht op het internet (in het Nederlands) op verschillende manieren met meerdere steekwoorden naar dit bericht: geen berichten van Nederlandse media over dit voorval….. Blijkbaar ziet men MSF ook als een organisatie die ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) verspreidt……
Waar
halen de machthebbers van Saoedi-Arabië het gore lef vandaan om alles
nog eens te ontkennen en te blijven liegen dat Iran meevecht in
Jemen, daar is geen flinter bewijs voor, hetzelfde geldt voor wapenleveranties van Iran aan de Houthi rebellen, wel heeft Iran in tegenstelling tot bijvoorbeeld het westen, een groot aantal humanitaire hulpgoederen gestuurd naar Jemen en zoals je weet: humanitaire goederen bevatten geen ‘blauwe bonen…….’

Saudi Arabia Condemns UN Report on Yemen War Crimes
(ANTIWAR.COM) — A
Tuesday report released by the UN confirmed
in considerable detail misdeeds by the Saudi-led coalition
in Yemen, killing thousands of civilians in Yemen, raping and
torturing detainees, and using child soldiers. The report warned
these may amount to war crimes.
While
they didn’t specifically dispute any of this, Saudi Arabia was
predictably furious about the report, angrily condemning it as having
“misconstrued the facts of the conflict… ignoring the true
reasons for the conflict,” while saying that it was an Iranian coup
against the “legitimate government in Yemen.”
While
previous UN resolutions more or less accepted the Saudi narrative
that the war is meant to reinstall the Hadi government, that massive
death toll and the many, many war crimes committed have fueled a lot
of international consternation.
Still,
UN reports detailing war crimes by the Saudi coalition have been met
by Saudi condemnation, and in the past that, combined with US support
for the war, has been enough to keep the UN from doing anything in
particular about the situation. The UN General Assembly has
repeatedly acquiesced to demands that the Saudis be allowed to
investigate themselves on the war, which has meant probes are rare,
and never come up with anything meaningful.
Het
beest Trump heeft op 13 augustus jl. de jaarlijkse budgettering voor
het militaire apparaat, de National
Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) voor 2019 getekend. De NDAA waarmee
ook VS burgers ongelimiteerd zonder vorm van proces kunnen worden
opgesloten vanwege ‘banden met terrorisme….’ Met dergelijke
wetgeving kan een dictatuur elke kritiek als terreur aanmerken, neem
Saoedi-Arabië waar een 29 jarige sjiitische vrouw driegt te worden
onthoofd, alleen vanwege (geweldloze) kritiek op de psychopathisch
reli-fascistische dictatuur in dat land, zij wordt letterlijk van
terrorisme beschuldigd…..*
De
VS is in feite al een politiestaat en met dergelijke wetgeving wordt
de vrijheid van meningsuiting een begrip uit het verleden………
Zie ook de samenwerking van bedrijven als Facebook (plus Google in
haar geheel) en Apple met de VS overheid, waar kritische blogs en
sites meer en meer worden geweerd van het internet….** Ofwel censuur van de bovenste plank!
Terug
naar Trumps handtekening onder de NDAA: hij beloofde dat hij niet zal
ingaan op zaken die ‘bepaalde militaire missies’ in de weg zullen
staan, waarbij hij zelfs aangaf niet te willen bezuinigen op de hulp
aan de Saoedische terreurcoalitie die zo tekeergaat in Jemen……
Ofwel S-A kreeg een ‘carte blanche’ om verder te gaan met de
uitvoering van de genocide op sjiieten in Jemen…….
Voorts
gaf Trump nog aan dat het militaire terreurapparaat van de VS niet
hoeft aan te geven hoeveel burgerslachtoffers er vallen door (illegale) militaire acties van de VS in het buitenland…….

Trump’s
Signing of the 2019 NDAA Will Lead to More Dead Children in Yemen
Donald
Trump recently made it clear he will not accept any limitations on
the U.S. military’s logistical support of the war in Yemen.
(CR) — On
August 13, Donald Trump did what every president does, every single
year, without question – he signed the annual military budget bill,
the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019. Some readers may
recall that since 2011, the NDAA has included a provision which
allows for indefinite detention of American citizens without a right
to trial. Many of you may remember that President Obama had no
problem signing the NDAA 2012 in 2011, which legalized the indefinite
detention of American citizens suspected of ties to terrorism. The
indefinite detention provision is still contained in the NDAA, and
has been approved by Congress every year since it first passed.
Donald
Trump continued this trend by signing the NDAA 2019. However, Trump
made it clear that there were certain provisions in this year’s
bill that he would not abide by. “In a 15-page signing
statement issued
Monday night, President Trump revealed that he intends to ignore many
of the myriad provisions of the 2019 National Defense Authorization
Act (NDAA), the $716 billion military spending bill,” Anti-War.com
reports.
Trump
explicitly says he will not follow provisions which he believes get
in the way of certain “military missions” or are not consistent
with his “constitutional authority as Commander in Chief.” Trump
also says he will not provide more information on civilian casualties
from overseas conflicts because, apparently, the military should not
have to share too much information with Congress. Trump also opposes
a ban on military cooperation with Russia and a call for the creation
of a White House position to investigate election meddling.
Finally,
Trump seemed to suggest he would not allow any limits on the Yemen
War and would oppose the idea of providing an assessment on possible
war crimes to congress. Despite the fact that most of the American
public and the
corporate media had
never heard of the “civil war” in Yemen until actor Jim
Carrey drew
a picture of a school bus full of children being
bombed, the conflict has raged since 2015. According to the corporate
media, the conflict is a traditional civil war between different
political factions in the nation, but deeper research indicates that
this is another attempt at regime change by Saudi Arabia and western
forces. However, that is a story for another day.
For
the moment let’s acknowledge that Saudi Arabia launched their own
military intervention in the form of drone attacks and airstrikes.
The campaign is supported with weapons and money from the U.S.
government. The aforementioned school bus full of children? On August
9th, the US-Saudi coalition dropped a 500-pound, laser guided MK-82
bomb manufactured by Lockheed Martin, on a bus full of kids driving
in Dahyan in Saada province of Yemen. The bomb killed 51
people, including 40 children. Reportedly, the
US State Department and
the Saudi defended
the act as a“legitimate
military operation”.
These
types of attacks are not unusual in this conflict. Recently, United
Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said the war in Yemen was
now the “world’s worst humanitarian crisis” with more than 22
million people in need of help. Guterres
told a conference that
there are millions of people without access to clean drinking water
and at risk of a cholera epidemic.
Of
course, this matter is only made worse by the fact that Republicans
rejected an amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill which would
have put restrictions on U.S. financial support for the bombing
campaign. U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy said the
amendment “would cut off United States’ support for the Saudi
Arabia-led coalition’s war in Yemen until the Secretary of Defense
certified that the coalition’s air campaign is not violating
international law and U.S. policy related to the protection of
civilians”. Now we can’t have the politicians cut off the
lifeblood to the Military Industrial Complex, can we?
Of
course, we the people can cut off their source of revenue by finding
ways to avoid paying taxes. Otherwise, the cold hard reality is that
there will be more dead people. There will be more buses of dead
children; hospitals, schools, funerals, and weddings being bombed,
and more people who have a justifiable anger towards the U.S.
government and military.
Gisteren
werd bekend gemaakt dat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie tijdens een
bombardement van de havenstad Hodeida, meermaals een vluchtelingenkamp
raakte en daarbij een bus met kinderen raakte……. Dit keer kwamen
er 22 kinderen en 9 volwassenen om het leven….. Bij de aanval
onlangs op een schoolbus kwamen 40 kinderen om het leven…….* Ditz spreekt van 42
vermoorde kinderen bij die aanval, echter het aantal van 40 wordt
door de meeste reguliere mediaorganen genoemd, die eindelijk wakker schrokken door die beestachtige aanval (het aantal van 40 vermoorde kinderen wordt ook door een groot deel van de sociale media genoemd; al wordt deze massamoord er niet minder op doordat er een paar kinderen minder werden vermoord…….).
Ook voor de laatste aanval is de VS één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken en weer is het stil in
de media, als men e.e.a. al meldde was dit met de toevoeging dat de
Houthi’s verantwoordelijk zijn volgens de Saoedische terreurcoalitie,
terwijl de Houthi’s niet eens beschikken over straaljagers en
bommenwerpers……..
De
VS (en in mindere mate GB) zijn verantwoordelijk voor de oorlog die
de Saoedische coalitie voert tegen de sjiitische bevolking van
Jemen, zo coördineert de VS de bombardementen en tankt het de
straaljagers en bommenwerpers van deze moorddadige coalitie af in de
lucht, zodat het smerige werk zo efficiënt mogelijk kan worden
uitgevoerd…… Daarnaast levert de VS wapens, munitie en militaire
hardware, dus rollend, vliegend en varend oorlogstuig. Ook helpt de
VS fysiek mee aan de zeeblokkade voor havens die in handen zijn van
de Houthi’s waarvan de grootste Hodeida nu al wekenlang onder vuur
ligt van de Saoedische terreurcoalitie…….
Hoelang
blijft de wereld nog toekijken hoe er zich een genocide voltrekt in
Jemen, zonder de verantwoordelijke partijen het vuur aan de schenen
te leggen en deze landen te gaan boycotten, landen als Saoedi-Arabië, de
Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte en Marokko, waar een boycot van de VS en GB al jaren geleden ingevoerd had moeten worden……
Voor het Internationaal
Strafhof (ICC) is het nu echt de hoogste tijd een onderzoek in te
stellen naar de door de Saoedische coalitie gevoerde genocide in
Jemen, een onderzoek waarin uiteraard ook de VS en GB meegenomen moeten
worden!!
US-Backed
Saudi Airstrike Kills at Least 31 Civilians in Yemen, Mostly Children
(ANTIWAR.COM) —
Saudi warplanes carried out an airstrike against the Yemeni port city
of Hodeidah on Thursday, hitting a camp for internally displaced
people, and killed
at least 31 civilians.
The slain included 22 children. 79 civilians were wounded, again
overwhelmingly children.
Saudi
coalition officials claimed the Houthis, who are in control of the
city, attacked the camp themselves. This is not possible, of course,
because the Houthis don’t have any warplanes in the first place.
This
marks the second major incident of the Saudi-led coalition killing
large numbers of children in Yemen in recent weeks, both of the
attacks involving attacking a bus. The previous attack, in Saada,
killed 51 civilians, 42 of them children.
In
the Saada attack, the coalition insisted attacking a school bus full

however, that they don’t want to admit to this current attack, as
they are trying to pin it, unconvincingly, on the Houthis.

gepubliceerd op Medium(.com) en Anti-Media, stelt zij dat de
reguliere (massa-) media van de VS eindelijk wakker zijn geworden en
aandacht besteden aan de vreselijke oorlog van de Saoedische
coalitie (inclusief de steun en onmisbare hulp van de VS en GB) tegen
de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. Een bevolking die ‘godzijdank’ worden gesteund
door de de Houthi’s, een uiterst functionele strijdgroep, die ingreep
nadat IS en Al Qaida de sjiitische bevolking aanvielen, zelfs in
moskeeën……. Deze 2 extreme terreurgroepen kregen in Jemen van de
opgestapte president (onder druk van Saoedi-Arabië weer president)
al-Hadi onderdak aangeboden…….
Jammer
dat Johnstone het woord ‘genocide’ uit de weg gaat, immers daar is op
zeker sprake van, een genocide waar de wereld voor het overgrote deel
alweer geen aandacht aan schenkt, althans totdat de Saoedische
coalitie toegaf een bus met kinderen onder vuur te hebben genomen, om
wraak te nemen voor een Saoedische man die omkwam bij een raketaanval
van de Houthi’s……. Al spreken ook die media niet over een genocide, ondanks alle bombardementen, honger, cholera en difterie (allen oorzaak van de Saoedische terreur), die al aan duizenden het leven heeft gekost……
Nu
is de verontwaardiging groot, zelfs bij MSNBC, die zoals Johnstone in
haar vorig artikel stelde in 1 jaar tijd niet één keer aandacht
schonk aan de smerige, door de VS gesteunde en gefaciliteerde oorlog tegen het Jemenitische volk, maar wel
455 keer aan Stormy Daniels……* Zonder steun van de VS en GB zou
Saoedi-Arabië de oorlog tegen de Houthi’s niet kunnen voeren, zo doet
de VS de coördinatie van de bombardementen, tankt het de straaljagers en bommenwerpers van de Saoedische terreurcoalitie (inclusief Marokko**) in de lucht af, zodat
ze zo ‘efficiënt’ mogelijk kunnen bombarderen…..
Doelen
van deze moorddadige coalitie: huizenblokken, ziekenhuizen, scholen,
energiecentrales, waterbedrijven, huwelijks- en begrafenisceremonies
en de infrastructuur inclusief de riolering….. Door het laatst genoemde is er zelfs de eerdere genoemde grote cholera uitbraak ontstaan in Jemen, die nog maandelijks honderden
doden eist….. Zelfs
een ziekenhuis van Artsen Zonder Grenzen (MSF) speciaal voor cholerapatiënten werd door de Saoedische coalitie plat
gebombardeerd, voordat de eerste patiënten konden worden
behandeld………. (hoeveel bewijs wil je nog hebben dat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, inclusief de VS en GB, bezig is met een genocide??)
Intussen
is er ook de al eerder genoemde difterie uitbraak in Jemen, dit nog naast de hongersnood die intussen al meer dan 2 jaar aanhoudt en waarvoor vorig jaar nog een actie
werd gevoerd in Nederland……..
Over Nederland gesproken, ik moet zeggen dat de media hier wel behoorlijk lauw hebben gereageerd op de
Saoedische aanval tegen een schoolbus en dat op een drukke
markt……. Als Assad iets dergelijks had gedaan had het land op z’n
kop gestaan en waren er al vragen gesteld in de Kamer……. Terwijl
de keren dat de hysterie toeslaat over het gedrag ‘van Assad’, die opwinding keer op keer onterecht blijkt te zijn, zoals zelfs bevestigd door VN onderzoek, echter dit verandert niets aan de hysterie, men blijft ‘gewoon’ volhouden dat
Assad zijn eigen volk afslacht, zonder ook maar een greintje aan
bewijs te leveren……..

Media Finally Concedes Defeat on Yemen, Ends Blackout Of Coverage
(CJ Opinion) — Last
month, an article
by Fair.org went
viral in republications by popular alternative media outlets ranging
from Salon to Zero
Hedge to Alternet to Truthdig,
among many others. The article was initially titled “ACTION ALERT:
It’s Been Over a Year Since MSNBC Has Mentioned US War in Yemen”,
but many subsequent republications went with variations on the more
attention-grabbing headline, “MSNBC has done 455 Stormy Daniels
segments in the last year — but none on U.S. war in Yemen”.
The
centerpiece of the article was the following graphic, which I saw
shared on its own many times in my social media feeds:
That’s
about as in your face as it gets, isn’t it?
This
is of course outrageous, but because of how media coverage works,
mainstream attention was never drawn to the problem. It hasn’t been
a total media
blackout, but because it only turns up in mainstream media reports
every once in a while with little if any emphasis being placed on who
is behind the devastation, it occupies a very peripheral place in
western consciousness. The average American would probably be able to
tell you that some parts of their government appear to be concerned
about Russia, Syria, Iran and North Korea, because those rival
nations have been the subject of intense mass media coverage, but if
you asked them about Yemen you’d likely be told something like “I
think there’s some kind of humanitarian crisis there?”, if
anything.
This
has all changed in the last few days. Suddenly, the atrocities being
inflicted upon the people of Yemen are being pushed into mainstream
attention by the mass media outlets which have been ignoring them for
more than three years. The Washington
Post (WaPo) editorial
board published
an op-ed titled
“End U.S. support for this misbegotten and unwinnable war”. CNN
did some actual, real journalism for a change with a viral
exclusive documenting
which American war profiteers were behind some of the more
devastating Saudi bombings. And yes, MSNBC finally did cover the
violence in Yemen, breaking its year-long silence to report
on a US-supplied bomb which
killed 40 children with such urgent condemnation of those responsible
you’d never know they’d been consistently ignoring such incidents
which have been going on for years.
Now politicians and celebrities everywhere
are shoving the horror of their government facilitating the slaughter
of innocents into mainstream attention.
What’s
interesting here is that nothing at all has changed except for the
coverage. US-supplied bombs have been dropping
on marketplaces, hospitals and funerals and slaughtering
civilians in
far more deadly incidents for years, and the US has also
been providing
extensive assistance to
Saudi airstrikes, as well as attacking Yemeni
targets directly.
The only thing that has changed is that now it’s being reported
with an urgency and volume that is appropriate for such a horrific
incident instead of an occasional low-profile mention with little or
no mention of responsibility.
Nobody
with their eyes open believes that the mainstream media have just
suddenly developed a conscience and now deeply care about the mass
murder of Middle Eastern civilians. So why the change? If you ask
some of the Trump supporters I’ve seen responding to the shift,
it’s because their president can now be unfairly blamed for a
military campaign which began long before he took office. But that
doesn’t really hold water, does it? I mean, the aforementioned year
in which MSNBC didn’t cover Yemen took place entirely during this
administration, and every American with cable TV knows that MSNBC
markets itself as the anti-Trump network. If they’d wanted to use
Yemen as another angle from which to criticize this administration
they would have done so, instead of not doing so at all. The entirety
of mainstream media have been grossly neglecting this issue up until
the last week despite having every opportunity to condemn Trump for
it.
For
the record, while we’re on the subject, I personally don’t much
care if Trump gets all the blame for the Yemen catastrophe at this
point. I’ve spent 2017 and 2018 fighting the insane corporate
liberal notion that all American depravity began in January of last
year, but at this point I’m happy with literally anything that just
ends the death and devastation. A year into the war, the 30-year CIA
veteran Bruce Riedel said that
“if the United States of America and the United Kingdom tonight
told King Salman that this war has to end, it would end tomorrow,
because the Royal Saudi Air Force cannot operate without American and
British support.” If using this as an opportunity to attack Trump
creates the necessary political pressure to end the bombings,
blockades, starvation and disease that is killing untold thousands of
Yemeni civilians, then fine, whatever, I’m all for it.
But
again, from what I’m seeing right now I don’t believe that this
is about Trump. Not directly anyway. From what I can see right now, I
think what we are witnessing is a clear instance in which alternative
media successfully caused the establishment to lose control of the
narrative on an important issue.
In
the US, criticism of Saudi Arabia is nearly as taboo as criticism of
Israel. As we saw explained in a leaked
State Department memo last
year, it is standard US policy to use human rights abuses as a
bludgeon with which to attack rival governments, while sweeping the
atrocities committed by allies under the rug. Because of
its lucrative
petrodollar deal with
the US, and because its opaque and unaccountable monarchy makes it
capable of nefarious maneuvers to advance geopolitical agendas that
an ostensible democracy would have a hard time getting away with, the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of America’s most important allies.
And the plutocrat-owned media, whose controllers have a vested
interest in protecting the establishment upon which their kingdoms
are built, consistently fall right in line with that same State
Department policy.
This,
and the fact that the control
of a key strategic region is
at stake, is why we’ve been seeing the Saudi war crimes in Yemen
and the US facilitation thereof downplayed for years by the mass
media. And they would surely remain downplayed indefinitely were it
possible.
But
it wasn’t possible. The story kept getting pushed toward mainstream
consciousness year after year, and eventually the fact that an outlet
which upholds itself as the flag bearer of Trump’s opposition has
been completely ignoring this administration’s facilitation of war
crimes was made viral. At a certain point a Dem-voting audience which
is being told day in and day out that Trump presents a unique and
unprecedented level of danger to the world will lose trust in the
outlets which market themselves to that demographic if they refuse to
make a big deal about the fact that this administration is helping
tyrants murder busloads of children.
For
this reason, western mainstream media have been forced to finally
report on the cruelty being inflicted upon the people of Yemen by
Saudi Arabia and its allies in order to avoid losing credibility. The
story got out, and the story about their lack of coverage of that
story got out, and now they’re all reporting on it like they’ve
been doing so this entire time. Which, if it continues, will make it
very difficult for the US/UK/Saudi war machine to retain the consent
of the governed for its mass slaughter.
In
my opinion, we can safely call this a win for alternative media. The
voices who aren’t beholden to the empire and its geopolitical
agendas refused to let this story die, and eventually succeeded in
overtaking the dominant narrative. Not because media-controlling
oligarchs like Brian L Roberts and Jeff Bezos gave them permission
to, but because unauthorized truth was spoken and carried by many
ordinary people into mainstream consciousness via Facebook shares,
Twitter retweets and speaking out loud and proud wherever possible. A
people’s information battle was fought and won by the people.
If
things go as I am hoping they will go, we will see more and more such
populist hijackings of dominant narratives in the future, and
ultimately a failure of the oligarchs to continue manufacturing
consent for their omnicidal, ecocidal, Orwellian agendas. We will
have to be aggressive, we will have to be creative, and we will have
to be interesting enough to catch the eye of the casual citizenry,
but the fact that trust in the mass media is at an all-time low and
our ability to network and share information is at an all-time high
combines with the fact that we have truth on our side to create some
very exciting possibilities. I find this all very encouraging.
** Marokko zou deel uitmaken van de coalitie, ook volgens de alternatieve
media, echter de laatste 6 maanden heb ik die bewering niet één keer teruggezien, tot Johnstone het weer noemde in haar artikel. Enig onderzoek toont aan dat dit inderdaad zo is. Verder bestaat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie uit de Verenigde
Arabische Emiraten, Egypte en uiteraard S-A. ‘Leuk’ voor de Marokkanen die straks weer met dienstplicht te maken krijgen, waarna ze mee mogen doen aan de genocide die in Jemen plaatsvindt……. (deze smerige oorlog zal voorlopig nog doorgaan…..)
Zag gisteravond in het tv menu van Canvas (Belzen tv) een programma met de naam; ‘De Jacht op het Kwade’ en dat wekte uiteraard direct mijn belangstelling. Zou het eindelijk duidelijk zijn geworden in België dat de VS de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde is; of dat de Europese koningshuizen eindelijk zijn ontmaskerd als enorme belastinguitvreters, waar je niets maar dan ook helemaal niets aan hebt; dan wel is de regering Rutte 3 betrapt op kijken naar kinderporno? Nee, driewerf neen, het betrof een potje hersenspoeling over de ‘islam-terreur…’
Zo stond er verder te lezen hoeveel aanslagen er in naam van de islam zijn gepleegd en dat zijn er 14, het aantal daders daarbij bedraagt 32, het aantal doden door die aanslagen is intussen 429 en het aantal gewonden ligt op meer dan 2.400……
Al tijdens het kijken werd ik kotsmisselijk van alle smerige propaganda…..
Het volgende kreeg ik mee: het is heel moeilijk om de terroristen te vinden en daarmee aanslagen te voorkomen….. Terwijl keer op keer blijkt dat de geheime diensten de daders al lang in het vizier hadden…… Ofwel die aanslagen waren wel degelijk te voorkomen……
Uiteraard moest er nog op de ‘enorme financiële schade’ worden gewezen, zodat de onnozele kijker intussen bloedrood van kwaadheid moet zijn aangelopen en vertwijfeld moet hebben geroepen: “Die godvergeten klote moslims!”
Beste bezoeker, er werd niet één keer gemeld wat de oorzaak van die terreur is: de grootschalige barbaarse terreur van het westen, o.l.v. de VS met oorlogshond NAVO aan de lijn en dat in (moslim) landen waar de VS en de rest van de deelnemende NAVO landen niets, maar dan ook helemaal niets te zoeken hebben!! Nee, als je het programma moest geloven is die terreur in het westen zomaar uit het niets ontstaan onder fanatieke moslims…….. Wat betreft de schade in het westen door terreuraanslagen, deze kan nog niet in de schaduw staan van de enorme rokende puinhopen die het westen in het Midden-Oosten heeft geproduceerd, om nog maar te zwijgen over het gigantische aantal doden…… (daarover zo meer)
Opvallend trouwens dat men de 911 aanslagen niet noemde (ook al te zien aan het genoemde aantal slachtoffers), blijkbaar begint het bij nieuws en actualiteiten redacties door te dringen, dat die aanslagen een smerige false flag operatie waren, die stinken naar de regie van de CIA en de NSA, om zo bij gebrek aan een vijand (in het begin van deze eeuw was alles immers pais en vree met Rusland) toch oorlog te kunnen voeren en dat hebben de VS en een groot deel van de rest van de westerse landen dan ook gedaan……
Alleen deze eeuw begon de VS met steun van NAVO landen 4 illegale oorlogen tegen moslim landen, waar bij de illegale oorlog tegen Irak intussen aan meer dan 1,5 miljoen Irakezen het leven gekost (anders gezegd die mensen zijn door het westen en door het ingrijpen van het westen vermoord…) Alles bij elkaar zijn er in Afghanistan (in feite ook een illegale oorlog), Irak, Libië en Syrië dik meer dan 2 miljoen mensen vermoord door het westen en het ingrijpen van het westen (mensen tegen elkaar opzetten, zoals in Syrië, waar een flink aantal geloven in vrede naast elkaar leefden, voordat de VS daar een opstand organiseerde, waarvoor de eerste stappen al in 2006 werden genomen…..)
Gezien het enorme aantal mensen dat door het westen in islam landen werd vermoord, kunnen we nog veel meer terreur verwachten op de EU straten…….. Gegarandeerd dat ook dan weer blijkt dat de geheime diensten hebben zitten slapen……
Er is maar één manier om van deze terreur af te komen: stoppen met het oorlogvoeren, ofwel het grootschalig terreur uitoefenen in landen waar we absoluut niets te zoeken hebben!!! Daarnaast is het zaak om de daders te berechten voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC), daders als George W. Bush (en zijn psychopaten administratie), Obama, Hillary Clinton, Trump, bestuurders van NAVO landen* en een groot deel van de VS legerleiding…….
Zoals je kon lezen, genoeg om inderdaad schijtziek van te worden……
Zojuist op BBC World Service, een correspondent die alle ellende in Syrië wijdt aan de Russen en het reguliere Syrische leger, die ‘indiscriminate’ het land bombardeerden….. Terwijl juist de VS (met hulp van GB) daar verantwoordelijk voor was, zelfs na verzoeken van o.a. de VN te stoppen met bombarderen van West-Mosul (Irak) en later van Raqqa (Syrië), ging deze grootste terreurentiteit op aarde gewoon door…… Dit in tegenstelling tot het ingrijpen van het Syrische en Russische leger >> zo stopten Rusland en Syrië al 2 maanden voor de inname van Oost-Aleppo met bombarderen, om zoveel mogelijk burgerslachtoffers te voorkomen……
In bevrijde gebieden begroet de Syrische bevolking (van verschillende geloven hand in hand) de Syrische coalitie, eindelijk bevrijd van de vreselijkste terreur uitgeoefend door ‘gematigde rebellen…’ Ook keren vluchtelingen in grote getale terug naar gebieden die door de reguliere Syrische troepen zijn bevrijd!! De BBC bracht haar anti-Syrische/Russische propaganda daar de VS en GB voor de door de VS bezette gebieden in Syrië, een waarschuwingssysteem hebben geïntroduceerd, een systeem ‘tegen de agressie van de wettige Syrische regering en haar coalitie…’ (en dat voor gebieden waar IS wordt beschermd door de VS, zie: ‘VN rapport: de VS geeft ISIS de ruimte in door VS illegaal bezet gebied in Syrië…..‘)
Trouwens als je nog steeds niet overtuigd bent van de westerse schuld voor de enorme terreur in het Midden-Oosten, kijk dan alleen naar Jemen, waar een genocide plaatsvindt, met militaire hulp van de VS en GB……
Heb aan de labels, direct onder dit bericht Aleppo, Raqqa en Mosul toegevoegd, dit vanwege het enorme verschil in bevrijding van die steden……..
De
barbaarse terreuraanslag van de Saoedische coalitie op een schoolbus
en daarmee op de markt waar deze bus werd getroffen (40 kinderen dood
en een groot aantal volwassenen….) zijn
niet snel vergeten, althans niet in de VS, waar de democratische
politicus, lid van het congres voor Californië, Ted Lieu, antwoorden
van de regering verlangt over de eventuele aansprakelijkheid van de VS, voor wat zeer ernstige oorlogsmisdaden zijn…..
Meervoud:
‘oorlogsmisdaden’, daar Lieu ook goed pissig is over de andere door
de VS (en Groot-Brittannië) gesteunde oorlogsmisdaden die in Jemen werden en worden gepleegd, zoals het bombarderen van
ziekenhuizen, scholen, hele huizenblokken, water- en
energievoorzieningen, plus de hele infrastructuur, dat nog naast
huwelijksceremonies en begrafenissen…….. Stuk voor stuk zeer ernstige
oorlogsmisdaden, zeker gezien het feit dat e.e.a is uitgedraaid op
een genocide, gericht tegen de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen…….
Jammer
dat Lieu het woord ‘genocide’ niet gebruikt, want daar gaat het wel
degelijk om! Neem alleen al het feit dat als gevolg van de bombardementen door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie er een cholera uitbraak plaatsvond in Jemen, een uitbraak die nog steeds maandelijks honderden slachtoffers eist…. Zelfs een speciaal voor
cholera patiënten uitgerust ziekenhuis van Artsen zonder Grenzen
(MSF) werd vlak voor opening platgebombardeerd door deze
psychopatencoalitie……
Bombardementen die door de VS worden gecoördineerd en waar de VS de straaljagers en bommenwerpers in de lucht voorziet van brandstof, zodat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie (inclusief de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten of VAE*) zo efficiënt mogelijk haar moorddadige werk kan verrichten in Jemen….. Overigens is er ook sprake van een difterie
uitbraak in Jemen en lijdt een groot deel van de bevolking
honger……..
Ook voor
dat laatste is de VS één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken, daar
de VS actief op zee meehelpt aan een blokkade van de door de Houthi’s
(sjiitische rebellen) beheerste gebieden, zodat humanitaire
hulpgoederen maar mondjesmaat het land binnenkomen en er derhalve een
groot tekort is aan voedsel, water, medicijnen, ziekenhuisapparatuur
en brandstof (o.a voor ziekenhuis generatoren)…….
Zoals
Lieu ook beschrijft in het hieronder opgenomen artikel van Common Dreams, levert de VS munitie en wapentuig, zoals rollend, varend en
vliegend oorlogstuig aan Saoedi-Arabië….. Dit werd nog eens extra duidelijk met de vondst van een door de VS geproduceerde geleide bom die door de Saoedische slachters op de schoolbus werd gebruikt…….
Gelukkig
zijn er nog een paar mensen wakker terwijl zich een genocide voor ons
oog voltrekt…….
Het
is ronduit een schande dat de Kamer niet van reces is teruggeroepen
vanwege deze laatste slachting in Jemen, als iets dergelijks door ‘de Syrische president Assad’ was gedaan, had men bij wijze van spreken al staan
schreeuwen in de Tweede Kamer microfoons………
Moet je
nagaan dat er tegelijk voor alle verontwaardiging en ronduit hysterie over zogenaamde oorlogsmisdaden ‘begaan door Assad’, niet één flinter aan
bewijs ligt, sterker nog: de gifgasaanvallen die tot nu toe werden
uitgevoerd in Syrië werden allen begaan door IS en andere door het
westen liefkozend genoemde gematigde rebellen…. Waar men NB van
weet dat ze beschikken over chemische wapens, terwijl die van Syrië

‘War
Crimes’: Lawmakers Demand Answers About US Role in Yemen Massacre
The
Saudi-led coalition, which receives essential military support and
intelligence from the U.S., “has repeatedly hit civilian
targets—including schools, hospitals, funerals, and
weddings—nowhere near military targets,” Lieu writes, pointing to
an analysis by the Yemen
Data Project (YDP) showing
that a third of Saudi bombings in Yemen have hit civilian targets. “I
previously served on active duty as a JAG [Judge Advocate General]
and a number of the coalition’s airstrikes look like war crimes.”
“If
the coalition’s targeting of farms, food storage sites, and water
sites was deliberate, these airstrikes would constitute a violation
of Article 14 of Additional Protocol II and customary international
law in non-international armed conflict,” Lieu adds. “I am deeply
concerned that continued U.S. refueling, operational support
functions, and weapons transfers could qualify as aiding and abetting
these potential war crimes.”
The
California congressman goes on to note that the U.S.-backed Saudi
attacks on civilian targets cannot be attributed to mere faulty
intelligence or incompetence.
“The
coalition, which has air superiority, has in a number of cases very
precisely struck civilian targets,” Lieu notes. “For example,
coalition jets precisely struck
a funeralattended
by a large number of people and then came around and struck the same
civilian target again. It is indisputable that the DoD-supported
coalition has killed large numbers of children, women, and men who
are civilians.”
In
a letter (pdf)
of her own on Tuesday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) called on Gen.
Joseph Votel—the top commander of U.S. forces in the Middle
East—to explain the
U.S. military’s role in the Saudi-led coalition’s bombings of
Yemeni civilians.
“According
to public reports and non-governmental organizations operating on the
ground in Yemen, coalition airstrikes, including some that are likely
to have been supported by U.S. refueling and supplied with U.S.
munitions, have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Yemeni
civilians since the beginning of the military campaign in 2015,
including most recently a school bus carrying dozens of children,”
Warren noted.
Lieu
and Warren’s letters come as Yemen-based journalists reported that
yet another Saudi-led bombing campaign in the port city of Hodeidah
on Tuesday killed more than 30 people, including women and children.

Since
the U.S.-backed Saudi coalition’s bombing of a school bus last
week, journalists and human rights advocates have denounced the
attack as a clear war crime and demanded to know precisely what role
the U.S. played in the massacre.
As Democracy
Now! noted
in a segment Tuesday
morning, images posted to social media suggest that the bomb used in
the attack was a Mark-82, which is manufactured by the massive
American defense contractor Raytheon.
While
U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis has dispatched an American
general to assist the Saudis with its “investigation” into the
school bus bombing, Shireen Al-Adeimi—a human rights activist and
professor at Michigan State University—told Democracy
Now! that
it is “preposterous to think” that the Saudis can properly
investigate their own crimes, particularly given that one Saudi
official has already described the school bus as a “legitimate
target.”
“Every
single day, there are airstrikes and casualties and civilians who
have been killed by Saudi-led airstrikes. They have essentially
absolved themselves of all wrongdoing every time they have
investigated themselves,” Al-Adeimi concluded. “What Yemenis need
is really an independent investigation, which has been put forward in
the U.N. twice already and has been rejected by the Saudi-led
coalition and the U.S. unfortunately has provided cover for the
Saudi-led coalition at the U.N.”

Bomb Fragments At Site Of Yemen Bus Airstrike Trace Back To Lockheed
Martin
(ZHE) — A
prominent Yemeni journalist who throughout the war has been
instrumental in getting images and information out of the country
ahead of Western journalists has photographed and examined fragments
from one of the exploded missiles found at the site of
the US-Saudi coalition airstrike on a school bus in
Yemen, which left as
many as 50 people dead and 63 injured — the
vast majority of which were children.
The
image of the missile fragment, believed to be among those that scored
a direct hit on the bus full of children traveling
through Dahyan market in Saada province last Thursday, was
uploaded by Sanaa-based Hussain Albukhaiti and quickly spread online
over the weekend. It
appears to be a US-made MK-82 guided bomb produced by Lockheed
Martin.
Ben
Norton, an American journalist among the first to track down publicly
available government contract information showing the MK-82’s
likely origins, said
of the bomb fragment imagery: “Yemeni
journalists found this fragment of the bomb Saudi Arabia dropped on a
school bus full of children in Yemen. It’s
a US-made MK-82 guided bomb, which has been used in previous attacks
on Yemeni civilians. The cage code on the bomb is Lockheed Martin’s.“

The
MK-82 is a 500-pound air dropped guided bomb which US Air Force and
military publications previously
touted as“causing
the least amount of collateral damage” — US
defense contractors have over the past few years sold
the MK-82 to Saudi Arabia under contracts worth tens of millions of
dollars.
The CAGE
Code,
or Commercial and Government Entity Code, is a number
assigned to suppliers of various government or defense agencies which
provides a standardize method to track military items to a given
facility at a specific location. According to one defense
contracting consultation
site, The
Department of Defense’s Defense Logistics Agency, (DLA)
assigns the five-character ID and uses alpha numeric identifier is
assigned to entities located in the United States and its’
territories.
Ben
Norton says the
Cage Code on the fragment reportedly found at the site traces to
US government contractor Lockheed Martin.
The
code on the panel fragment in the photograph reads: 94271.
Ben
Norton further tracked down specific contracts through 2016 and 2017
showing that Lockheed Martin/General Dynamics is the key
supplier of the MK-82 500-pound bombs to the Saudi military (in
1997 General Dynamics acquired Lockheed’s Armament Systems and
Defense Systems productions divisions).
The
separate contracts are collectively worth over $60 million and were
approved by US Army Contracting Command.
In
2016 the Saudi coalition, of which both the US and Britain play a
lead role, used
the US-made MK 82 guided bombs to attack a funeral in Sanaa,
Yemen’s capital city, which killed over 140 and wounded at least
500 more.

It
resulted in a drawn out testy exchange, but Matt Lee laid out
the case for direct US complicity in the attack on the bus packed
with children: “The
Saudis obviously are the ones who conducted this, but they do that
with weapons supplied by the U.S., with training supplied by the
U.S., and with targeting information, targeting data, supplied by the
U.S. How can something like this happen?” he
said.
Not
only did Nauert refuse to say the US condemned the attack,
but wouldn’t
so much as agree to simply call for an independent investigation into
the incident(she
called only for a Saudi-led inquiry) which killed
at least 29 children and has resulted in the United Nations
launching an
independent probe.
Previously
last week, just before the horrendous attack on the school bus,
Nauert had unambiguously
statedthe
Saudi coalition’s ongoing airstrikes on Yemen are legitimate
and justified.
The
Saudis for their part called
the incident part of a“legitimate military
operation” soon
after it happened, ultimately blaming Shia Houthi rebels who control
the region.
In
April of 2016, Bruce Riedel, a 30-year CIA officer and senior fellow
at the Brookings Institute, told
a conference audience, “If
the United States and the United Kingdom, tonight, told King Salman
[of Saudi Arabia] ‘this war has to end,’ it would end tomorrow.
The Royal Saudi Air Force cannot operate without American and British
support.”
Bruce Riedel of the Brookings Institute: “if the United States of America and the United Kingdom tonight told King Salman that this war [on Yemen] has to end, it would end tomorrow because the Royal Saudi Air force cannot operate without American & British Support”.
Last
week’s coalition airstrike on the bus elicited rare bipartisan
outrage among a handful of congress members, including from Senator
Chris Murphy (D-Conn), who
said in a statement, “The
Saudi/UAE/U.S. bombing campaign is getting more reckless, killing
more civilians, and strengthening terrorists inside Yemen. We need to
end this – NOW.”
The
Pentagon has long tried to present its role in the conflict as
attempting to stave off humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, yet
as even NPR* confirmed while reporting
from inside the country earlier
this year the US military “has provided
targeting information, equipment and aircraft refueling to the Saudi
air campaign,
which has been widely criticized for being indiscriminate and killing
civilians in places like hospitals, funerals and homes.”
