In
een mooi artikel van Caitlin Johnstone gaat zijn in op de huidige
status quo, waarin de media gestuurd door hun steenrijke eigenaren
dan wel beursgenoteerde bedrijven, de belangen behartigen van
westerse regeringen* (al spreekt Johnstone over de VS, dit
verschijnsel zien we hier ook), het militair-industrieel complex,
oliemaatschappijen, financiële instellingen en geheime diensten…..

Dat
die status quo zo rot is als een mispel interesseert deze media niet, noch
dat de wereld naar de kloten gaat, of mensen moedwillig worden
geofferd voor belangen in de olie- en gasindustrie en dat in landen waar we niets, maar dan
ook helemaal niets te zoeken hebben……. Neem de illegale oorlog
tegen Irak, deze heeft intussen aan meer dan 1,5 miljoen mensen het
leven gekost….. We werden niet alleen voorgelogen over de reden
voor die aanval (niet bestaande massavernietigingswapens), maar ook
over het werkelijke doel: niet democratie brengen, maar westerse
belangen veilig stellen, met als gevolg een groot meer gevuld met
menselijk bloed en tranen……… 

Om nog maar te zwijgen over de enorme stromen vluchtelingen, op gang gebracht door de VS en haar westerse hielenlikkers van andere NAVO lidstaten, terwijl nu juist dat westen stelt niet een zo groot aantal vluchtelingen op te kunnen nemen (in een arm land als Libanon is 1 op de 5 inwoners vluchteling….. Op het hoogtepunt was dit 1 op de 4 inwoners, er zijn intussen al veel vluchtelingen teruggekeerd naar door het reguliere Syrische leger bevrijde gebieden. Het westen heeft amper wat gedaan voor de echte vluchtelingencrisis, die niet in het westen bestaat, maar in Libanon en ander vergelijkbare landen…..)

Met
de opkomst van de sociale media kregen de reguliere (massa-) media
concurrentie en werden hun leugens voor het eerst echt goed
doorgeprikt, iets wat deze media natuurlijk niet konden en kunnen
laten gebeuren. Vandaar de uitvinding van het woord ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws), NB
vooral door die reguliere media gebracht (neem de illegale oorlog tegen Irak), echter omgekeerd evenredig totaal onterecht door deze media
gebruikt om de sociale media van het brengen van ‘fake news’ te
beschuldigen……

Uiteraard
zijn er kul sites waar men van alles beweert, echter daar prikt de
grote meerderheid van de mens echt wel doorheen, nee het echte nieuws
moet tegen worden gehouden, daar hiermee de reguliere media, hun broodheren en overheden als
onbetrouwbaar te boek komen te staan (en gelukkig vinden velen dit
al).

Johnstone
stelt dat de reguliere media in feite altijd liegen, waar ze opmerkt
dat deze media uiteraard ook echt nieuws brengen (bijvoorbeeld een zwaar ongeluk kan je
niet verhullen, of een politicus die stelend door de mand
viel, zoals zoveel VVD’ers), echter een goede leugenaar is er één
die vooral ook de waarheid spreekt (en vooral als het in het straatje
van de machthebbers past), immers anders valt deze zo door de
mand…… Door deze manier van werken, stelt Johnstone liegen deze media
daarmee in feite altijd, ofwel ze zijn totaal onbetrouwbaar…….

het volgende artikel van Johnstone, geeft het ajb door en kom in
actie!!! (voor het te laat is, met alle vormen van toezicht die de overheid tegenwoordig voorhanden hebben, kan je straks nog geen scheet laten en de overheid weet het, ofwel een 1984
dat zelfs Orwell niet had voorzien…… (waar men ook nog eens bezig is met de ontwikkeling van kunstmatige insecten, uitgerust met camera’s…..) Intussen is onze internet geschiedenis en zijn onze computers/smartphone’s al toegankelijk voor de overheid…….. 

Als het zover komt, dus een totale controle van de burgers en daar twijfel ik niet aan, zal de roep van de machthebbers groot zijn om de democratie aan de kant te zetten, uiteraard met een beroep op de staatsveiligheid……. Vandaar ook dat we zo snel mogelijk uit de EU moeten stappen, immers de kans dat een zo grote vereniging van staten zal leiden tot één grote EU dictatuur is levensgroot, zeker als je ziet dat de fascistische partijen in de EU blijven groeien en in een paar EU landen zelfs al de grootste zijn….. Deze partijen zijn nu nog anti-EU, maar let op als ze straks de grootste fractie in het EU parlement zijn…..)

Work to Manufacture Consent Because They Need It. Don’t Give It to
Them.

(CJ Opinion) — Plutocrat-owned
news media outlets lie constantly. When I say this I don’t mean
that everything they say is false; many of the events reported by
mass media are for the most part factual. Whenever it’s convenient
for the loose alliance of western plutocrats, the political
establishment those plutocrats own and operate, and the secretive
government agencies with which they are allied, the plutocratic media
tell the truth to the extent that it advances plutocratic agendas.
But only telling the truth when it suits one’s agendas is the same
as lying constantly.

A
good liar doesn’t simply say the opposite of what’s true all the
time; nobody does that. A good liar tells the truth enough of the
time to gain a reputation as an honest and trustworthy source of
information, and then, when the truth poses an obstacle to their
agendas, they put the slightest spin possible on it to nullify that
obstacle. They tell half-truths, they omit key pieces of information,
and, with really important maneuvers like manufacturing consent for a
strategic military destabilization in the Middle East or new cold war
escalations against a nuclear superpower, they shift accountability
for factual reporting from themselves onto secretive military and
intelligence agencies. In this way they keep full control of the
narrative and still ensure that the public supports agendas which do
not serve the public interest.

This
is evidenced by the fact that the public has continued collaborating
with a system which kills the ecosystem we depend on for survival and
allows people to die of poverty while spending trillions of dollars
in needless wars overseas and an ever-expanding Orwellian
surveillance network. Everyone besides the most powerful and their
lackeys is aware on some level that the current system is not working
for them, and yet the overwhelming majority of people keep playing
into it by supporting mainstream parties that are fully owned and
operated by wealthy oligarchs, and then shrugging and sighing when
things keep getting worse.

This
is because their
consent has been successfully manufactured.
Due to the fact that the governed will always vastly outnumber their
government, any government necessarily depends upon the consent
of the governed.
The entire American populace could theoretically wake up tomorrow
morning and decide they want to literally eat everyone on Capitol
Hill, and there’s not actually anything anyone could do to stop
them. The only thing holding existing power structures in place is
the fact that the public consents to it, and, in a system which does
not serve the interests of the public, the only thing holding that
consent in place is the ability of those in power to manufacture it.

So
if there’s ever any doubt that international
network of ruling elites would
pour billions of dollars into controlling public narratives, remember
that their power (and potentially their very lives) fully depends on
their ability to manufacture the consent of the governed. Whoever
controls the narrative controls the world.
If they lose control of the narrative, they lose everything.

For
this reason it is absolutely essential that consent remains seamless
and unbroken throughout every step of the march toward greater and
greater oligarchic dominance. If they are unable to manufacture
consent for a new war or a new escalation in domestic surveillance or
what have you, then they don’t get to have it. This is why no
full-scale intervention has happened in Syria or Iran for example,
despite relentless mass media propaganda campaigns against the
governments of those nations. They work so hard to manufacture
consent because they absolutely require that consent, and they can’t
move forward with their agendas until they get it.

This
is not to suggest that an Iraq-style invasion of Syria or Iran would
likely cause a revolutionary war or anything like that; that would be
naive. If the US and its allies launched such an invasion the people
in those allied nations would be outraged, but they would not be
outraged enough to kill and die over it. What would happen, though,
is a total collapse in their ability to manufacture consent. And that
would be just as fatal to their rule as a full-scale violent
revolution.

The
invasion of Iraq had broad public support, but after it was
discovered to have been a catastrophic, immensely costly intervention
based on nothing but lies, it is now looked upon unfavorably. If they
tried to force another Iraq-style invasion through, the public would
not accept the narratives they were fed about it, and they would see
the MSM lie factory for what it is. This collapse of the public’s
trust in anything the talking heads on TV say would make everyone
impossible to propagandize, and thus impossible to rule over. The
people would begin telling their own stories about what’s going on,
in a way which better reflects reality and better serves themselves
instead of the alliance of sociopathic billionaires. If this
happened, the old power structures could be shrugged off like a heavy
coat on a warm day without anyone firing a shot, simply by the public
deciding to rewrite the rules in a way which benefits the public.

This
is absolutely essential to be aware of, because it means that we can
collectively prevent any agenda from being advanced as long as enough
of us refuse to consent to it. And all that needs to happen for that
consent to be withdrawn is the exposure of the lies that the mass
media is spinning to advance a given agenda.

We’ve
already seen this happen with Syria. There
was a stretch in April of this year where
the mass media machine was cranking out attack editorials on
alternative media voices who’d cast doubt upon the establishment
Syria narrative, because there was so much opposition to what we were
being told to believe about the Assad government that the alliance of
plutocrats and intelligence/defense agencies were unable to
manufacture support for a large-scale invasion. All they got out of
their massive MSM propaganda blitz in April was a meaningless bombing
which accomplished essentially nothing, and now the Syrian government
is recapturing
its territory from
the violent jihadists who had seized it with western backing. Had the
“think of the children!” propaganda campaign succeeded in the
wake of the highly suspicious Douma incident, we would likely have
seen a very dangerous and costly western regime change intervention
in Syria by now.


We
can do this with literally anything. The people don’t need to
consent to another idiotic war. The people don’t need to consent to
a two-headed one-party system which pretends that domestic espionage
is acceptable or that wanting the US to stop facilitating the
slaughter of Yemeni civilians is some crazy, radical fringe position.
The people don’t need to consent to the persecution of Julian
Assange. The people don’t need to consent to the rule of the
oligarchs at all. By collectively withdrawing our consent for those
things in our own self-interest, we can make them unsustainable.

And
of course, our rulers are acutely aware of this possibility. This is
the reason for the current moral panic about “Russian bots”,
“Kremlin propaganda” and “fake news”. It’s the reason for
the smear campaign against WikiLeaks and the attempts to imprison
Julian Assange. It’s the reason for the tightening corporate
censorship we’re seeing with Google, Facebook and Twitter. Our
rulers are aware that any of their agendas can be thwarted simply by
their failing to manufacture consent for them, so any voices which
disrupt that consent-manufacturing machine are in the crosshairs for
attack and silencing.

But
they can’t be too ham fisted about their censorship attempts,
because the public would never consent to full-scale totalitarian
censorship out in the open. The illusion of freedom and democracy
would be shattered, trust in the propaganda machine would die, and
the oligarchs would completely lose control of the narrative. The
nice guy mask needs to remain firmly in place for any consent
manufacturing to take effect; as soon as they remove it they lose the
mechanism of manipulation and control that their entire system of
rule is built upon. This buys us some time. Not a lot of time, but
some.

So
the time to strike is now, while the iron is hot. Disrupt the
consent-manufacturing machine at every opportunity, because it’s
the only thing holding the bars of our cage in place. The new media
environment is still ripe for a grassroots campaign to expose the
lies of our rulers and shine light on the puppeteers of the kabuki
theater using facts, information and intelligent arguments.

So
let them have it with both barrels. Blog, tweet, make videos, make
memes, engage in debates; any day you can weaken the trust that even
one person has in any part of the deception machine is a gain in this
battle. Fight their lies with truth and their evil with good will.
When you are opposing a depraved power establishment which relies on
deceit to sustain its rule, you have truth and light on your side. So
fight with absolute certainty in yourself, and give them everything
you’ve got. This might be humanity’s last chance.

The Guardian met propaganda over Syrië, die zo uit Orwells 1984 zou kunnen komen……

Zero
Hedge bracht een artikel van Tyler Durden waarin deze de
berichtgeving rond de ‘gifgasaanval’ in het Syrische Douma door The
Guardian onder de spreekwoordelijke loep nam.

De
conclusie is niet misselijk: de berichtgeving in The Guardian zou zo
weggelopen kunnen zijn uit het boek 1984 van George Orwell.

Zaken
worden op zo’n manier gebracht dat de argeloze lezer maar één
conclusie kan trekken: Assad heeft een massamoord begaan, niet alleen
in Douma maar in heel Oost-Ghouta…. Voorts zou Rusland dat hebben gesteund en hebben meegeholpen…… Waar Syrië al sinds de oorlog daar begon werd en wordt gedemoniseerd, dit door een door de VS en een aantal partners georganiseerde opstand, waar de eerste onderhandelingen tot het omverwerpen van het Assad regime al van 2006 dateren (daar zijn bewijzen voor, o.a. te vinden in Wikileaks!)

Ook
het woordgebruik interesseert Durden, jammer genoeg zijn deze
moeilijk te vertalen, zoals het verschil tussen de Engelse werkwoorden
‘purifying’ en ‘clearing’, waar de eerste makkelijk kan aangeven dat
men een plek heeft gezuiverd van plaagdieren en de tweede aan kan
geven dat een plek is vrijgemaakt van terroristen. Ja, ik weet ‘t,
dit laat zich niet zo makkelijk vertalen, echter daar komt het wel op
neer, zo wordt de eerste, dus ‘purifying’ gebruikt voor de
handelswijze van het legitieme, democratisch gekozen regime in Syrië,
ofwel Syrië heeft Oost-Ghouta gezuiverd van ongedierte en dat doet
men veelal middels vergassing……. (overigens legt Durden een enigszins ander verband)

Nogmaals
wijst Durden op de weigering van de VS en haar westerse hielenlikkers
om de OPCW in te schakelen voor een onafhankelijk onderzoek naar de gifgasaanval in Douma, iets waar Syrië
en Rusland op aandrongen. Gelukkig besloot de OPCW zelfstandig een
onderzoek in te stellen……. Kijk dat is toch een heel ander
verhaal dan ons door de reguliere media en het grootste deel van de politiek door de strot werd geduwd:
Syrië en Rusland weigeren een onderzoek naar de ‘gifgasaanval’ in
Douma! (en dat op een manier en frequentie die zich het best laat vergelijken met hersenspoelen….)

The Guardian Fulfills George Orwell’s Prediction Of ‘Newspeak’

On
Sunday April 15th, Britain’s Guardian bannered “OPCW
inspectors set to investigate site of Douma chemical attack” and
pretended that there was no question that a chemical attack in Douma
Syria on April 7th had actually occurred, and
the article then went further along that same propaganda-line, to
accuse Syria’s Government of having perpetrated it. This ‘news’
story opened [and clarificatory comments from me will added in
brackets]:

UN
chemical weapons investigators were set on Sunday to begin examining
the scene of a chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, which had
prompted the joint US, French and British strikes against military
installations and chemical weapons facilities near the capital,
Damascus.

The
arrival of the delegation from the Organisation for the Prohibition
of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) came as the Syrian military announced that
it had “purified” [no source provided, but this — from
7 March 2018 — is
the only source that existed prior to the April 14th
missiles-invasion of Syria, and its meaning is very
different: the
region of eastern Ghouta, of which Douma is a part, after a two-month
campaign that killed nearly 2,000 civilians [no source provided as
regards either the number, or that all of them were ‘civilians’
and that none of them were jihadists or “terrorists”],
following years of siege.

The
propaganda-article continued directly: 

“Units
of our brave armed forces, and auxiliary and allied forces, completed
the purification of eastern Ghouta, including all its towns and
villages, of armed terrorist organisations,” the general command
statement said.

No
source was provided for that, but this sentence is a sly
mind-manipulation, because here is what the Syrian Government’s
General Command had actually said: “Statement
of the Army General Command declaring Eastern Ghouta clear of
terrorism” as
headlined by the Syrian Government itself.

In
other words: the Guardian’s ‘journalist’ had substituted the
word “clear” by the word “purify” and did this after having
already asserted but not documented, that the Government had just
completed “a two-month campaign that killed nearly 2,000
civilians.”

When
the Syrian Government announces that an area has been “cleared of
terrorists (or of terrorism),” the US-allied propagandist uses the
word “purify,” such as “purified the region of eastern Ghouta”
or “the purification of eastern Ghouta, including all its towns
and villages, of armed terrorist organisations.”

But
by the time that the reader gets there to “purification … of
armed terrorist organisations,” the
reader has already been indoctrinated to believe that Syria’s
Government is trying to “purify” land,
or perpetrate some type of ethnic-cleansing. 

Later,
the article asserts that,

“The OPCW mission
will arrive in Douma eight days after the chemical attack, and days
after the area fell to the control of Russian military and Syrian
government forces. That delay, along with the possibility of the
tampering of evidence by the forces accused of perpetrating the
attack, raises doubts about what the OPCW’s inspectors might be
able to discover.”

However,
a fierce debate is being waged over whether this was not any real
“chemical attack” but instead a staged event by the jihadists in
order to draw Trump back into invading Syria. In
other words: any journalistic reference yet, at this time, to the
event as “the chemical attack” instead of as “the alleged
chemical attack” is garbage, just as, prior to the
guilty-verdict in a murder trial, no journalistic reference may
legitimately be made to the defendant as “the murderer,” instead
of as “the defendant.” That is lynch-mob ‘journalism’,
which Joseph Goebbels championed.

The
Joseph-Goebbels-following ‘journalist’ has thus opened by
implying that the Russia-allied Syrian Government is trying to crush
a democratic revolution, instead of the truth, that the US-allied
Governments are trying to overthrow and replace the Russia-allied
Syrian Government.

It’s
a big difference, between the lie, and the truth.

Another
story in the April 15th Guardian was “Pressure
grows on Russia to stop protecting Assad as US, UK and France press
for inquiry into chemical weapons stockpiles” and this
one pretended that the issue is for “Russia to stop protecting
Assad,” who
is the democratically
elected and popular President
of Syria, and not to stop the
invasion of Syria since 2011 by US and Saudi backed foreign jihadists
to overthrow him.

Furthermore,
as regards “press for inquiry into chemical weapons
stockpiles,” the
real and urgent issue right now is to allow the Organization for the
Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) into Douma to hold an
independent and authoritative investigation into the evidence
there. Russia
pressed for it at the U.N. Security Council and the US and its allies
blocked it there. But
the OPCW went anyway — even after the US-allied invasion on April
14th — and this courageous resistance by them against the
US dictatorship can
only be considered heroic.

That
type of ‘news’-reporting is virtually universal in The West,
among the US and its allied governments, which
refer to themselves as ‘democracies’ and refer to any Government
that they wish to overthrow and replace by their own selected
dictator, as ‘dictatorships’, such as these regimes had referred
to Iraq in 2003, Libya in 2011, Syria forever, and Ukraine in 2014.

PS:
gezien het voorgaande is het niet vreemd dat de VS toenadering heeft
gezocht tot Rusland, zoals vannacht bekend werd gemaakt, immers snel
zal blijken dat er geen gifgasaanval heeft plaatsgevonden in
Douma….. Reken maar dat wanneer de VS nog steeds van het
tegenovergestelde overtuigd was, de Trump administratie een toenadering tussen Rusland en de VS had afgewezen……. Trouwens ook hierover wordt weer volop gelogen in de media, als zou Putin eindelijk de redelijkheid van het westen in deze inzien…….. Alsof Rusland tot nu toe elk overleg heeft afgewezen, een smerige leugen…. Sterker nog: zoals eerder op deze plek betoogd: met de VS in de omgekeerde rol, waren we waarschijnlijk al in een enorme oorlog verwikkeld geweest, neem het neerschieten van een Russische jager, of de massamoord op 100 Russische vrijwilligers, die aan de kant van het Syrisch leger meevochten, dan wel de aanval op een Russische tank…….. Het is aan Putin te danken dat deze en andere zaken niet tot een oorlog (WOIII) hebben geleid!

De
algehele hysterie over ‘fake news’ (of: ‘nepnieuws’) is compleet en al dik meer dan een jaar gaande, waarbij de
sociale media werden aangewezen als de verspreiders, terwijl de echte
makers en verspreiders van nepnieuws juist de reguliere media zijn, zie de berichtgeving voorafgaand aan
de illegale oorlogen tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië, plus de
berichtgeving over Oekraïne (en ga nog maar een tijd door…….)

Nu
is er nieuws opgedoken over de VS overheid (en het leger) die al

identiteiten hebben op het internet, personages die het echte nieuws
onderuit moeten halen. Het leger van de VS heeft al een klein
legertje aan personen samengesteld om hun werk te doen. Overigens heeft Israël al eerder aangekondigd kritiek en negatief nieuws op/over deze fascistische apartheidsstaat aan te zullen vallen met een ‘snelle reactiemacht…..’* 

Overigens dient opgemerkt te worden dat de VS en Israël nog iets verder gaan dan alleen kritiek aan te vallen, daar ze actief nepnieuws zullen verspreiden die bijvoorbeeld de uitgeoefende staatsterreur (in binnen en buitenland) moeten rechtvaardigen……

the Media Isn’t Telling You About Social Media

openly admitted, governments and militaries around the world employ
armies of keyboard warriors to spread propaganda and disrupt their
online opposition. Their goal? To shape public discourse around
global events in a way favourable to their standing military and
geopolitical objectives. Their method? The weaponization of social
media.

It
didn’t take long from the birth of the world wide web for the
public to start using this new medium to transmit, collect and
analyze information in ways never before imagined. The first message
boards and clunky “Web 1.0” websites soon gave way to “the
blogosphere.” The arrival of social media was the next step in this
evolution, allowing for the formation of communities of interest to
share information in real time about events happening anywhere on the
globe.

But
as quickly as communities began to form around these new platforms,
governments and militaries were even quicker in recognizing the
potential to use this new medium to more effectively spread their own
propaganda.

Their
goal? To shape public discourse around global events in a way
favourable to their standing military and geopolitical objectives.

Their
method? The Weaponization of Social Media.

Facebook.
Twitter. YouTube. Snapchat. Instagram. Reddit. “Social media” as
we know it today barely existed fifteen years ago. Although it
provides new ways to interact with people and information from all
across the planet virtually instantaneously and virtually for free,
we are only now beginning to understand the depths of the problems
associated with these new platforms. More and more of the original
developers of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter admit
they no
longer use social media themselves
and actively keep it away from their children, and now they are
finally admitting the reason why: social media was designed
specifically to take advantage of your psychological weaknesses and
keep you addicted to your screen.

SEAN
PARKER:
If the thought process that went into building these
applications—Facebook being the first of them to really understand
it—that thought process was all about “How do we consume as much
of your time and conscious attention as possible?” And that means
that we need to sort of give you a little dopamine hit every once in
a while because someone liked or commented on a photo or a post or
whatever, and that’s gonna get you to contribute more content and
that’s gonna get you more likes and comments. So it’s a social
validation feedback loop. I mean it’s exactly the kind of thing
that a hacker like myself would come up with, because you’re
exploiting a vulnerability in human psychology. And I think that
we—the inventors/creators, you know, it’s me, it’s Mark, it’s
Kevin Systrom at Instagram, it’s all of these people—understood
this consciously and we did it anyway.

It
should be no surprise, then, that in this world of social media
addicts and smartphone zombies, the 24/7 newsfeed is taking up a
greater and greater share of people’s lives. Our thoughts, our
opinions, our knowledge of the world, even our mood are increasingly
being influenced or even determined by what we see being posted,
tweeted or vlogged. And the process by which these media shape our
opinions is being carefully monitored and analyzed, not by the social
media companies themselves, but by the US military.

When the world’s largest social media platform betrays its users,
there’s going to be outrage.

ABC
HOST: The
study to see whether Facebook could influence the emotional state of
its users on that news feed.

CNN
ANCHOR:
It allowed researchers to manipulate almost 700,000 users’ news
feeds. Some saw more positive news about their friends, others saw
more negative.

CNN
GUEST:
Well I’m not surprised. I mean we’re all kind of lab rat than the
big Facebook experiment.

PORTNAYA: But
it wasn’t only Facebook’s experiment. It turns out the
psychological study was connected to the US government’s research
on social unrest.

This is really kind of creepy.

PORTNAYA:
And it gets worse. What you may not know is that the US Department of
Defense has reportedly spent roughly $20 million conducting studies
aimed at learning how to manipulate online behavior in order to
influence opinion. The initiative was launched in 2011 by the
Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, otherwise
known as DARPA. The program is best described as the US media’s
effort to become better at detecting and conducting propaganda
campaigns via social media. Translation: When anti-government
messages gain ground virally, Washington wants to find a way to
spread counter opinion.

The
DARPA document that details the Pentagon’s plans for influencing
opinions in the social media space is called “Social
Media in Strategic Communication.”
DARPA’s goal, according to their
own website,
is “to develop tools to help identify misinformation or deception
campaigns and counter them with truthful information.”

Exactly
what tools were developed for this purpose and how they are currently
being deployed is unclear. 

But Rand Walzman, the program’s creator,
admitted last year that the project lasted four years, cost $50
million and led to the publication of over 200 papers. The papers,
including “Incorporating
Human Cognitive Biases in a Probabilistic Model of Retweeting,”
“Structural
Properties of Ego Networks,”
and “Sentiment
Prediction using Collaborative Filtering,”
make the thrust of the program perfectly clear. Social media users
are lab rats being carefully scrutinized by government-supported
researchers, their tweets and Facebook posts and Instagram pictures
being analyzed to determine how information spreads online, and, by
implication, how the government and the military can use these social
media networks to make their own propaganda “go viral.”

As
worrying as this research is, it pales in comparison to the knowledge
that governments, militaries and political lobby groups are already
employing squadrons of foot soldiers to wage information warfare in
the social media battlespace.

ANCHOR:
The Pentagon’s got a new plan to counter anti-American messages in
cyberspace. It involves buying software that will enable the American
military to create and control fake online personas—fake people,
essentially—who will appear to have originated from all over the
world. The plan is being undertaken by CENTCOM (US Central Command),
and the objective of the online persona management service is to
combat enemy propaganda by influencing foreign social media websites.
CENTCOM has hired a software development company called “Ntrepid,”
and, according to the contract, the California-based company will
initially provide 50 user licenses, each of which would be capable of
controlling up to 10 fake personas. US law forbids the use of this
type of technology, called “sockpuppets,” against Americans, so
all the personas will reportedly be communicating in languages like
Arabic, Persian and Urdu.

So is it okay to have the government monitor social media
conversations and then to wade in and correct some of those
conversations? With more on this, let’s go to technology expert
Carmi Levy. He’s on the line from Montreal. Carmi, do you think the
government’s monitoring what you and I are saying right now? Is
this whole thing getting out of line, or what?

LEVY: It opens up a bit of a question. I’d like to call it a
Pandora’s box about, you know, what exactly is the government’s
aim here, and what do they hope to accomplish with what they find
out? And as they accumulate this information online—this data on
us—where does that data go? And so I think as much as we should
applaud the government for getting into this area, the optics of it
are potentially very Big Brother-ish. And the government really does
need to be a little bit more concrete on what its intentions are and
how it intends to achieve them.

Engineers office here in New Orleans are being used to verbally
attack critics of the Corps comes in an affidavit from the former
editor-in-chief of nola.com. Jon Donley, who was laid off this past
February, tells us via satellite from Texas, in late 2006 he started
noticing people presenting themselves as ordinary citizens defending
the Corps very energetically.

These
operations are only the visible and publicly-admitted front of a vast
array of military and intelligence programs that are attempting to
influence online behaviour, spread government propaganda, and disrupt
online communities that arise in opposition to their agenda.

That
such programs exist is not a matter of conjecture; it is mundane,
established, documented fact.

In
2014, an internal document was leaked from GCHQ, the British
equivalent of the NSA. The document, never intended for public
release, was entitled “The
Art of Deception: Training for a New Generation of Online Covert
Operations”
and bluntly stated that “We want to build Cyber Magicians.”
It then goes on to outline the “magic” techniques that must be
employed in influence and information operations online, including
deception and manipulation techniques like “anchoring,” “priming”
and “branding” propaganda narratives. After presenting a map of
social networking technologies that are targeted by these operations,
the document then instructs the “magicians” how to deceive the
public through “attention management” and behavioural
manipulation.

That
governments would turn to these strategies is hardly a shocking
development. In fact, the use of government shills to propagate
government talking points and disrupt online dissent has been openly
advocated on the record by high-ranking government officials for the
past decade.

In
2008, Cass Sunstein, a law professor who would go on to become
Obama’s information “czar,” co-authored a paper entitled
“Conspiracy
Theories,”
in which he wrote that the “best response” to online “conspiracy
theories” is what he calls “cognitive infiltration” of groups
spreading these ideas.

“Government
agents (and their allies) might enter chat rooms, online social
networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine
percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual
premises, causal logic or implications for political action. In one
variant, government agents would openly proclaim, or at least make no
effort to conceal, their institutional affiliations. […] In another
variant, government officials would participate anonymously or even
with false identities.”

It
is perhaps particularly ironic that the idea that government agents
are actually and admittedly spreading propaganda online under false
identities is, to the less-informed members of the population, itself
a “conspiracy theory” rather than an established conspiracy fact.

Unsurprisingly,
when confronted about his proposal, Sunstein pretended to not
remember having written it and then pointedly refused to answer any
questions about it.

My name is Bill de Burgh from Brooklyn College, and I know you’ve
written many articles. But I think the most telling one about you is
the 2008 one called “Conspiracy Theories,” where you openly
advocated government agents infiltrate activist groups of 9/11 Truth
and also stifle dissent online. I was wondering why do you think it’s
the government’s job, or why do you think the government should go
after family members who have questions and 9/11 responders who are
lied to about the air, survivors whose testimony conflicts, and also
government whistleblowers that were gagged because they released
information that contradicts the official story.

CASS
SUNSTEIN:
I think it was Ricky who said I’d written hundreds of articles and
I remember some and not others. That one I don’t remember very
well. I hope I didn’t say that.
But whatever was said in that article, my role in government is to
oversee federal rule-making in a way that is wholly disconnected from
the vast majority of my academic writing, including that.

I just want to know is it safe to say that you retract saying that
conspiracy theories should be banned or taxed for having an opinion
online. Is it safe to say that?

SUNSTEIN:
I don’t remember the article very well. So I hope I didn’t say
either those things.

But you did and it’s written. Do you retract them?

SUNSTEIN:
I’m focused on my job.

Information Czar Cass Sunstein Confronted on Cognitive Infiltration
of Conspiracy Groups

Now,
a decade on from Sunstein’s proposal, we know that military psyops
agents, political lobbyists, corporate shills and government
propagandists are spending vast sums of money and employing entire
armies of keyboard warriors, leaving comments and shaping
conversations to change the public’s opinions, influence their
behaviour, and even alter their mood. And they are helped along in
this quest by the very same technology that allows the public to
connect on a scale never before possible.

Technology
is always a double-edged sword, and sometimes it can be dangerous to
wield that sword at all. There are ways to identify and neutralize
the threat of online trolls and shills, but the phenomenon is not
likely to go away any time soon.

Each
of us must find our own answer to the question of how best to
incorporate these technologies into our life. But the next time you
find yourself caught up in an argument with an online persona that
may or may not be a genuine human being, it might be better to ask
yourself if your efforts are better spent engaging in the argument or
just turning off the computer.

Het
Duitse bedrijf Tönnjes E.A.S.T levert Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips aan drie
landen: Honduras, de Filipijnen en de Cayman Eilanden. Voorlopig gaat
het hier on chips in nummerplaten en de voorruit van auto’s, maar er lopen intussen al heel
wat mensen rond met zo’n chip onder de huid….. E.e.a. werd gemeld op Anti-Media, die het door Tyler Durden geschreven artikel overnam van ZeroHedge.

Toevallig
gisteren in de CBC Sunday Edition (radio) uitgebreid aandacht voor deze chips
die o.a. werden geïmplanteerd in arbeiders/werknemers van Amazon (nog
net geen verplichting, maar…….). Zo kan Amazon zien of haar arbeiders geen tijd verdoen met onnodige handelingen of bijvoorbeeld teveel en te lang naar de wc gaan….

Je kan wel raden waar dit naartoe gaat: uiteindelijk zal iedereen verplicht zo’n chip moeten dragen…. Met
deze chips zal het straks met ons recht op privacy definitief afgelopen zijn,
ook al is daar nu al bar weinig van over…….. Dit laatste ten gevolgen van leugens
over terreurgevaar, terwijl de angstzaaiers van deze boodschap, de
geheime diensten van westerse landen, zelfs geen aanslag kunnen
voorkomen als ze de dader al lang in het vizier hebben, zo blijkt

Begins: Countries Now Using RFID Technology to Track Citizens’
Movements

the not-too-distant future, law enforcement will be able to easily
track our movements thanks to RFID microchips, which some workers
allready have implanted – as we’ve
previously reported.

Indeed,
some people are happily lining up to be microchipped – even
throwing parties to celebrate their coworkers embracing the
microchipping phenomenon, without any regard to how this technology
could be used to further totalitarian aims.

As
technology that tracks our movements becomes more widespread, an
unassuming article in
a trade journal about RFID technology –
which uses radio signals to track movements of people or products –
highlights a portentous development: Honduras, the Philippines and
the Cayman Islands are deploying license plates with RFID technology
to help track their citizens’ movements on highways and other
roads.

The
specific technology being used by these three countries are called
the IDePlate and IDeSTIX. The former is implanted in license plates
while the latter is in innocuously attached to a car’s windshield.
Together, they allow authorities to track their citizens, while also
providing a fallback in case a license plate is stolen.

The
RFID technology, developed by the Dutch firm Tonnjes E.A.S.T, uses
cryptography to verify the owner of a car, which can then be
ascertained by the operator of a scanner similar to the license plate
scanners that are already in wide use by police in the US (which,
as we
pointed out several
years ago, will soon be operated by drones).

Tonnjes
offers governments the hardware needed to fabricate and install the
tags, while also providing the software to program them.

“The
RFID-enabled plate is designed to be forgery-proof, says Jochen Betz,
Tönnjes’ managing director. The UCODE DNA IC uses cryptographic
authentication based on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Each
time a tag is interrogated, it generates a new AES calculation based
on its unique crypto key, which the reader receives and is programmed
to verify. That ID number can then be linked to data about the
vehicle and registration in a database.

“By
using both the IDePlate and IDeStix, the system enables users to
identify any misuse of license plates.

The
problem with plate identification alone, the company explains, is
that it cannot detect if the wrong plate is attached to a car. ‘Plate
theft is very difficult to avoid,’ Betz states, so the IDeStix
provides a level of redundancy. The IDeStix is a hologram-printed
windshield sticker that is placed on the window’s interior.

“The
RFID-enabled sticker can be interrogated simultaneously with the
plate tag, and can then respond with its own encrypted code that is
linked to the vehicle’s information. Tönnjes sells the
RFID-enabled blank or finished plates to government agencies and
offers equipment to emboss a plate number. They can then use their
own software to link each tag’s encoded RFID number with the plate
ID.”

While
governments are just beginning to roll out these systems, RFID
Journal notes that one potential complication in rolling out the
windshield-sticker tags (which, again, are necessary to compensate
for license-plate theft) is the number of tags already attached to
vehicles, mostly by their manufacturers, to track their movements.

“When
it comes to the capturing and filtering of data, Betz notes, one
software-based challenge for a system like this is the large number
of RFID tags already attached to parts of most modern vehicles. In
fact, he estimates, there can be 15 or more RFID tags on a single
car, most attached to parts that were being tracked by the
manufacturer prior to the car’s sale. ‘We don’t want to talk to
17 tags [on a single car],’ he states. Therefore, the system is
designed to screen out all tag reads that are not recognized as part
of the IDePlate system.”


In
the Cayman Islands, the RFID-tagging system was adopted last year,
with the island’s government installing checkpoint readers (also
created by Tonnjes) to capture vehicles’ information.

“In
the Cayman Islands, the system was taken live in 2017, with
approximately 50,000 vehicles now equipped with the RFID-enabled
plates and windshield stickers. Between five and 10 checkpoint
readers provided by Tönnjes are scheduled to be installed around the
county. The
company supplies the middleware and software that captures the tag ID
reader data and feeds that information, linked to the vehicle IDs, to
the Cayman Island government’s vehicle database. The
reader installation is posing a unique challenge, Betz says, since
the devices had to be mounted on hurricane-proof gantries. The Cayman
Islands government needs to ensure that the gantries would be able to
sustain high winds.”

The
Philippines has ordered millions of plates to begin rolling out its
own system…

“In
addition, the Land Transportation Office (LTO), a department of the
Philippine Ministry of Transport, has hired Tönnjes to deliver 3.25
million of its license plates for cars and motorcycles. The
government is also purchasing IDeSTIX windscreen labels for 775,000
cars, and IDeSTIX Headlamp Tags for 1.7 million motorcycles.”

And
Turkey is also piloting the technology…

“Turkey
has also piloted the technology with vehicles on a testing course of
the country’s traffic police, while a trial in Russia tracked the
movements of public buses throughout the city of Kazan. In
addition, Tönnjes and Kirpestein are in discussions with the
government of the Netherlands to conduct an open-road pilot, and is
also in talks with vehicle authorities in that country regarding
further pilots of the technology.”

…Which
means it’s only a matter of time before it arrives in the US…

Een paar maanden nadat bekend werd dat
het Pentagon kunstmatige intelligentie (AI) gebruikt om terroristen
op te sporen (en ze dan in ‘eigen land’ te laten lopen zoals telkens weer
blijkt…..), werd bekend gemaakt dat Google het ministerie van
defensie in de VS helpt met het analyseren van drone beelden…. Dit
zeer tegen de zin van veel Google werknemers……

Een woordvoerder van Google stelde dat
Google niet meehelpt aan het vermoorden van mensen, maar puur
technisch kijkt naar de verzamelde beelden en wat daarmee te doen
(anders dan mensen aan flenters te schieten)….. ha! ha! ha! ha! Wat
een bedrieger, het Pentagon is bezig drones te laten ontwikkelen die
zelflerend zijn (middels AI) en uiteindelijk zelf zullen beslissen of iemand wel
dan niet ‘wordt uitgeschakeld’, beter gezegd: vermoord (zo heb je dan niet te maken met
‘drone-piloten’ die last krijgen van hun geweten….)

Met deze samenwerking is Google aan te
klagen voor moord, immers het zijn nog altijd verdachten die worden
doodgeschoten, ofwel: standrechtelijke executies, nogmaals anders gezegd:
moord!! Erger nog: meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers van drone aanvallen zijn niet verdachte personen, veelal vrouwen en kinderen……

De volgende stap is al gezet,
politiekorpsen in de VS en China zijn al voorzien van
gezichtsherkenning brillen, waarmee gezochte personen snel kunnen
worden opgespoord….. Nu nog drones boven mensenmassa’s, steden en
dorpen en ‘we zijn allemaal veilig….’ Niet dus, één verkeerde

(ANTIMEDIA) —
Only months after it was disclosed that the Pentagon was using
artificial intelligence (AI) to hunt
for terrorists,
officials have now acknowledged that Google has been collaborating
with the Department of Defense to use AI in analyzing drone footage.
The disclosure comes
amid an uproar among Google employees who aren’t happy to be
assisting in the development of military applications.

While
Google has had controversial contracts with the government before —
most notably with the NSA —
this is its “pilot” project with Project Maven, which is itself
the Pentagon’s own flagship weaponized AI program. The purpose of
Project Maven is to implement Big Data and machine learning into the
U.S. military, which officials say is currently in a new AI arms race
with China
and Russia.

According
to information from an internal mailing list, Google will now join
this arms race and assist the DoD with storing and analyzing the
massive troves of data from aerial drones.

When
multiple anonymous Google employees expressed outrage over the
disclosure, as Gizmodo first
reported, a company spokesman issued the following statement:

“We
have long worked with government agencies to provide technology
solutions. This specific project is a pilot with the Department of
Defense, to provide open source TensorFlow APIs that can assist in
object recognition on unclassified data,” the spokesperson said. “The
technology flags images for human review, and is for non-offensive
uses only. Military use of machine learning naturally raises valid
concerns. We’re actively discussing this important topic internally
and with others as we continue to develop policies and safeguards
around the development and use of our machine learning technologies.”

Google’s
military contract with the DoD has thus far shielded its
collaboration with Project Maven by housing it in ECS
Federal,
a North Virginia technology staffing company. Their specific tasks
have included gathering data from a fleet of 1,100 drones to help the
Pentagon better identify terrorists. Google’s deep learning
algorithms can help in object identification, differentiating people
from vehicles in order to maximize the effects of military strikes
against ISIS.

Flirtations
between Silicon
Valley and the government have
gone on for a while in the age of privatized surveillance during the
War on Terror. However, this may be the first time a tech giant like
Google, which also wields inordinate control over online information,
has been openly integrated into military operations.

As
the Intercept noted,
former Executive Chairman of Google, Eric Schmidt, also chaired the
Defense Innovation Board (DIB) and encouraged a collaboration of
military agencies and Silicon Valley, calling for “an
exchange program and collaboration with industry and academic experts
in the field.”

Air
Force Lt. Gen. John N.T. “Jack” Shanahan, director for defense
intelligence for warfighter support and the Pentagon general running
Project Maven’s AI “prototype warfare,” suggested the
same at the GEOINT2017 conference. He joked that someone from Google
should whisper some trade secrets in his ear.

It
appears the two are getting their wish as the United States
government officially conscripts Google into their war against the
Islamic State.

zelf al eens geschreven over de totale hysterie en hypocrisie in de VS en de rest van het westen over de zogenaamde bemoeienis van Rusland met de verkiezingen in de
VS en elders. Gisteren ontving ik echter een schrijven van Scott Roth die dit veel beter verwoordt.

Nog even dit: ondanks
dat daar nog geen flinter van bewijs voor is, blijven de reguliere
westerse media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici de leugens over Russische interventie in de verkiezingen herhalen. 

Vreemd genoeg interesseert het blijkbaar niemand als
de fascistische Palestijnenslachter Netanyahu hetzelfde doet (zoals in augustus vorig jaar), maar dan open en bloot, vertoond door de grote tv stations in de VS (beelden die zelfs in de rest van het westen werden getoond..), waar Netanyahu e.e.a. ook nog eens verwoordde in een ontmoeting met leden van het Congres….. (hoeveel echt bewijs voor manipulatie heb je nodig…?)

Dear Reader,

Last
week Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating alleged
Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, handed down
an indictment that charged thirteen Russian individuals and three
companies with all sorts of misdeeds in an effort to subvert the
election and swing it for Donald Trump. 

Whatever you think about the
issue of Russian intervention in our politics, it ought to be a
scandal how clear-cut
Israeli influence in
our politics is nothing but a sideshow, if even that. It’s
axiomatic in mainstream media attitudes about Israel that the
discussion will not meet the issues head-on, and the opinion makers
will invariably protect
Israel by shifting blame elsewhere.
It’s a necessary and dare I say effective strategy because if the
mainstream press told the truth
about the quotidian violence of
the occupation, soon after a critical mass of Americans would
understand that reality and attitudes
like this would be the new norm.

Ayelet
Shaked, Israel’s Justice Minister, basically laid out the case
against Zionismand
as Israel’s military-form of justice is administered in occupied
Palestine, 17-year-old Ahed
Tamimi’s case
keeps getting delayed. The judge announced the trial would be held
behind closed doors, as this would be in the “best
interest” of
a juvenile defendant. Orwell couldn’t have written this story if he
tried.

Gezichtsherkenningssoftware in zonnebrillen en zelfs voor het scannen van rijdende auto’s: Big Brother neemt een reuzenstap………

Mensen die stellen dat het een goede zaak is elke minuut van de dag te worden gecontroleerd door de overheid, vragen in feite om een dictator! (en reken maar dat iedereen iets te verbergen heeft, zelfs en vooral de staat, zoals keer op keer blijkt, als ons weer een oor is aangenaaid……..).

Onze privacy is al voor een fiks deel gestolen, dit in de oorlog tegen terrorisme, terwijl de geheime diensten een terrorist zelfs niet kunnen tegenhouden, als ze deze al lang in het vizier hebben……. Reken maar dat ook bij invoering van dergelijke gezichtsherkenningstechnologie men je voor zal houden dat dit van het grootste belang is van jouw eigen veiligheid……

In de VS heeft de Customs and Border Protection (CBP usa) aangekondigd dat het de komende zomer gaat experimenteren met gezichtsherkenningssoftware voor rijdende auto’s, waar men met deze technologie alle passagiers in een auto kan scannen…….

De vervolmaking tot een staat als beschreven in George Orwells 1984, komt steeds dichterbij…. In China heeft men al een zonnebril voor politieagenten ontwikkelt, die ook de gezichten van passanten (en daarmee mensen die staande zijn gehouden) razendsnel kunnen scannen met gezichtsherkenningssoftware………

Met dit soort soft- en hardware zal het steeds moeilijker worden om nog in opstand te komen tegen de huidige inhumane neoliberale status quo….. Nog even en men weet al wat je denkt als je door de stad loopt……. Hitler en z’n misdadige kliek zouden er van kwijlen, elke tegenstander zou in een mum van tijd kunnen worden opgepakt, vastgezet en vermoord………

Derrick Broze stelt in het artikel hieronder dat e.e.a niet meer is tegen te houden en dat de tijd rijp is om gemeenschappen te creëren waar men dit soort technologie afwijst (wat nooit zal worden toegestaan). US
to Test Facial Recognition Scanners on People in Moving Vehicles

(AP) — On
Thursday the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced plans for a
new pilot program that will test out biometric facial recognition
technology as part of an effort to identify fugitives or terror
suspects. The Austin-American
Statesman reported
on the announcement:

“Thanks
to quantum leaps in facial recognition technology, especially over
the past year, the future is arriving sooner than most Americans
realize. As early as this summer, CBP will set up a pilot program to
digitally scan the faces of drivers and passengers — while they are
in moving vehicles — at the busy Anzalduas Port of Entry outside of
McAllen, the agency announced Thursday.”

The
Texas-Mexico border is being used as the testing grounds for the
technology. The results of the pilot program will be used to help
roll out a national program along the entire southern and northern
borders. The
Statesman notes
that the Department of Energy hired researchers at Tennessee’s Oak
Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to help overcome the difficulties of using
facial recognition technology on moving vehicles. The researchers
developed a method for combating window tinting and sun glare which
can make a vehicle’s windows impenetrable to cameras. The facial
recognition technology being developed for the pilot program will be
capable of identifying the driver, front passengers, and the
passengers riding in the back.

The
CBP currently operates facial recognition exit programs at almost a
dozen international airports in the United States. Colleen Manaher,
the CBP’s executive director of planning, program analysis and
evaluation, told the Statesman that
travelers have been accepting of the technology and noted that “we
can thank the Apples and the Googles for that.”

Although
the CBP claims implementing facial recognition technology could
eventually eliminate the need for passports, boarding passes and
other travel documents, the technology is without a doubt an invasion
of privacy. Both the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Georgetown
University’s Center on Privacy and Technology have called for
further investigation into the potential dangers of a massive facial
recognition apparatus. In the U.S., only Texas and Illinois have laws
preventing the use of biometric data for commercial purposes.

The
new Texas pilot program is only the latest effort by the federal
government to implement a wide range of biometric and surveillance
programs around the United States.

In
August 2017 Activist

reported on the plans
to launch a national program scan the facesof
all airline passengers in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection
launched a “Traveler Verification Service” (TVS) that intends to
use facial recognition on all airline passengers, including U.S.
citizens, boarding flights exiting the United States. That same month
it was reported that
thirty-one sheriffs along the U.S.-Mexico border voted unanimously to
adopt tools that will allow the collection and storing of iris scans.

Additionally, Activist
Post just
last week reported that
the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency now has
access to a nationwide license plate recognition database after
finalizing a contract with the industry’s top license plate data
collection company. This database allows ICE to search a vehicles
whereabouts over the last five years, as well as developing “hot
lists” that can track particular vehicles indefinitely.

The
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is currently facing
a lawsuit for
failing to release records related to the agency’s use of devices
to gather biometric data from immigrants. Mijente and the National
Immigration Project of National Lawyers Guild (NIPNLG) are asking a federal
court to force ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release
information related to the use of handheld devices used to gather
biometric data from immigrants during raids.

These
programs are reminiscent of mass surveillance systems established in
Russia and China. The truth of the matter is that all three nations
are taking different paths towards the same goal: control and
monitoring of their population and suppression of critical thought or
opposition. The only way to stand against this is to refuse to fund
the programs at every turn and sharing the information. It might be
too late to stop the establishment of these programs, but the people
could potentially form enough of a resistance to establish free
communities and neighborhoods where these invasive technologies are
rejected.

Eerste politierobot een feit………

Dat autofabrikanten het nergens nauw mee nemen, zal nog voor niemand een verrassing zijn, echter het kan nog sterker: Ford (VS) heeft een zelflerende politierobot gefabriceerd……. Deze eerste politierobot is nu nog een zelfrijdende politieauto, die autonoom beslissingen neemt op gedrag van automobilisten in het verkeer……. De robotauto zou andere voertuigen op afstand stil kunnen zetten, dat betekent dat het elektronische systeem van afstand kan worden geblokkeerd (dat meldt Jake Anderson, de schrijver van het volgende artikel niet, maar is een al langer bekende technologie)…….. Deze robot kan groeien in de functie, daar deze ook zelflerend is…….

Op zeker dat de politie in de VS deze auto in gebruik zal nemen en niet voor de gebieden waar veel gekleurden wonen, of ze moeten deze robot precies zo instrueren als de ‘gewone agenten…….’ Zo instrueren dat deze robot gekleurden als potentiële misdadigers zal zien, dus etnisch zal profileren en als het even kan gekleurden doodschieten, ofwel standrechtelijk executeren en dat alleen vanwege hun huidskleur……

Ford heeft de eerste stap gemaakt naar een geautomatiseerde nieuwe wereld robotorde, waarmee de gevaarlijk stap is gezet naar andere zelflerende robots, lopende robots voor politie en leger, die al helemaal niet zullen twijfelen of ze iemand wel dan niet zullen vermoorden….. Overigens is men ook al bezig met het ontwerpen van een drone die zelfstandig beslist of doelwitten uitgeschakeld ‘moeten worden…’ (let wel: dat is eigenlijk een zware misdaad!) De controle op die standrechtelijke executies, onder Obama tot vol wasdom gekomen, stelde al niets voor, zoals zojuist gezegd: met robots zal dit moorden nog grotere vormen aannemen, waar onderzoek zelfs wel eens onmogelijk gemaakt kan worden………… Immers wie moet je de schuld nog geven na een schietincident, bijvoorbeeld in een Midden-Oosten gebied, de fabrikant??? (ach, als men nu een onderzoek instelt naar een moordpartij in bijvoorbeeld Irak, komen de VS daders er voor 99% vanaf met een vrijspraak……)

De VS is in feite al een politiestaat, met dergelijke robots kan zo’n dictatuur pas echt vervolmaakt worden……. Op weg naar een wereld die zelfs George Orwell niet kon voorzien………. Millions
of jobs are at risk of being outsourced to
automated artificial intelligence or robotic applications in the next
decade. These jobs range from baristas and supermarket
clerks to lawyers and hedge
fund managers.
Now, a new patent application by automaker Ford suggests law
enforcement agents, too, could soon be replaced by artificially
intelligent autonomous police cars equipped with state of the art
cameras, wireless communication sensors, and surveillance technology.

The
automated cop car would be designed to seek out especially crafty
hiding places, detect driving infractions, wirelessly
interface with
potentially (automated) lawbreaking vehicles, and even remotely issue
citations. According to Techcrunch,
Ford’s patent filing suggests that the new machine learning
algorithm would not only be capable of determining whether the
infraction constitutes a ticket or a warning but would also be able
to manually take control of the vehicle if necessary, although it is
not entirely clear what the patent envisions in the way of manual
takeovers. The AI black-and-white would also have instantaneous
access to any databases necessary to adjudicate suspects and
offenders.

“While autonomous
vehicles can
and will be programmed to obey traffic laws,” the
patent filing states, “a
human driver can override that programming to control and operate the
vehicle at any time. When a vehicle is under the control of a human
driver there is a possibility of violation of traffic laws. Thus,
there will still be a need to police traffic.”

Vaughn
Highfield of Alphr imagined how
this might play out on the road:

“In
practice, Ford’s car would establish a direct wireless connection
with a speeding car and then send a message to its dashboard
indicating that it’s going too fast and
has been spotted. The vehicle would
then reply to Ford’s police car informing it of if it was in
autonomous mode or being driven by a human.”

A
ticket may then be issued to the license of the human driver.

Some
tech and science blogs took a glass half full approach to the
news, pointing
out that
automating routine police tasks, such as speeding tickets, may free
up human police officers to focus more of their attention on law
enforcement tasks that are not so easily interpreted by an algorithm.
The overriding sentiment, however, seems to be one of caution, as
technologists imagine a world where humans are policed by
artificially intelligent automated law enforcers.

Unsurprisingly,
Ford Global Technologies CEO Jim Hackett is optimistic about what he
describes as a game-changing technology that will transform cities
and communities for the better. During a speech at
a Las Vegas conference last month, he pontificated about the utopian
future humans can expect in the ‘city of tomorrow’:

“The
car and the system will be talking to each other. And changing one
piece of the system necessarily changes the whole.

“A
car obviously is going to learn to drive itself, but the city
transportations grid will mutate around what the cars need.

“What
we want is the depiction of the city of tomorrow that demonstrates
the benefits of introducing these smart vehicles in a smart world for
civic life.

“It’s
not about the city getting smarter, but about humans having a better
day.”

Stephen
Edelstein, a writer for The
Drive,
however, voiced more concern regarding the ethics of
automated law enforcement. “The
potential pitfalls of machines conducting police work
have us feeling especially skeptical about this one.”

While
Ford’s patent doesn’t ensure the technology will come to pass, it
seems exceedingly likely that the country’s law enforcement
agencies and military will
soon be embracing the most cutting-edge technologies, which begs the
question:

Late
on Friday, with the US population embracing the upcoming holidays and
oblivious of most news emerging from the administration, Obama
quietly signed into law the 2017 National
Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which authorizes $611 billion for
the military in 2017.

In
a statement, Obama
said that:

Today,
I have signed into law S. 2943, the “National Defense Authorization
Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2017.” This Act authorizes fiscal year 2017
appropriations principally for the Department of Defense and for
Department of Energy national security programs, provides vital
benefits for military personnel and their families, and includes
authorities to facilitate ongoing operations around the globe. It
continues many critical authorizations necessary to ensure that we
are able to sustain our momentum in countering the threat posed by
the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and to reassure our European
allies, as well as many new authorizations that, among other things,
provide the Departments of Defense and Energy more flexibility in
countering cyber-attacks and our adversaries’ use of unmanned
aerial vehicles.”

Much
of the balance of Obama’s statement blamed the GOP for Guantanamo’s
continued operation and warned that “unless the Congress changes
course, it will be judged harshly by history,” Obama said. Obama
also said Congress failed to use the bill to reduce wasteful overhead
(like perhaps massive F-35 cost overruns?) or modernize military
health care, which he said would exacerbate budget pressures facing
the military in the years ahead.

But
while the passage of the NDAA – and the funding of the US military –
was hardly a surprise, the biggest news is what was buried deep
inside the provisions of the Defense Authortization Act.

Recall
that as we
reported in early June, “a
bill to implement the U.S.’ very own de
facto Ministry
of Truth had been quietly introduced in Congress.
As with any legislation attempting to dodge the public spotlight the
Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act of 2016 marks a
further curtailment of press freedom and another avenue to stultify
avenues of accurate information. Introduced by Congressmen Adam
Kinzinger and Ted Lieu, H.R. 5181 seeks a “whole-government
approach without the bureaucratic restrictions” to counter “foreign
disinformation and manipulation,” which they believe threaten the
world’s “security and stability.”

Also
called the Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016 (S. 2692), when
introduced in March by Sen. Rob Portman, the legislation represents a
dramatic return to Cold War-era government propaganda battles. “These
countries spend vast sums of money on advanced broadcast and digital
media capabilities, targeted campaigns, funding of foreign political
movements, and other efforts to influence key audiences and
populations,” Portman explained, adding that while the U.S. spends
a relatively small amount on its Voice of America (VOA), the Kremlin
provides enormous funding for its news organization, RT.

“Surprisingly,”
Portman continued, “there is currently no single U.S. governmental
agency or department charged with the national level development,
integration and synchronization of whole-of-government strategies to
counter foreign propaganda and disinformation.”  

Long
before the “fake news” meme became a daily topic of
extensive conversation on such discredited mainstream portals as CNN
and WaPo (Washington Post), H.R. 5181 would task the Secretary of State with
coordinating the Secretary of Defense, the Director of National
Intelligence, and the Broadcasting Board of Governors to “establish
a Center for Information Analysis and Response,” which will
pinpoint sources of disinformation, analyze data, and — in true
dystopic manner — ‘develop and disseminate’ “fact-based
narratives”
to counter effrontery propaganda.

In
short, long before “fake news” became a major media topic,
the US government was already planning its legally-backed crackdown
on anything it would eventually label “fake news.”

8, when
the “Countering
Disinformation and Propaganda Act”
passed in the Senate, quietly
inserted inside the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
Conference Report.

And
now, following Friday’s Obama signing of the NDAA on Friday
evening, the
Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act is
now law.

throughout the U.S. government. To support these efforts, the bill
also creates a grant program for NGOs, think tanks, civil society and
other experts outside government who are engaged in
counter-propaganda related work. This will better leverage existing
expertise and empower our allies overseas to defend themselves from
foreign manipulation. It will also help foster a free and vibrant
press and civil society overseas, which is critical to ensuring our
allies have access to truthful information and inoculating people
against foreign propaganda campaigns.

“Our
enemies are using foreign propaganda and
disinformation against us and our allies, and so far the U.S.
government has been asleep at the wheel,” Portman said. “But
today, the United States has taken a critical step towards
confronting the extensive, and destabilizing, foreign propaganda and
disinformation operations being waged against us by our enemies
overseas. With
this bill now law, we are finally signaling that enough is enough;
the United States will no longer sit on the sidelines. We are going
to confront this threat head-on. I am confident that, with the help
of this bipartisan bill, the disinformation and propaganda used
against us, our allies, and our interests will fail.”

“The
use of propaganda to undermine democracy has hit a new low. But
now we are finally in a position to confront this threat head on and
get out the truth. By building up independent, objective journalism

these fake narratives and empowering local communities to protect

NOTE: The
bipartisan Countering
Disinformation and Propaganda Act is
organized around two main priorities to help achieve the goal of
combatting the constantly evolving threat of foreign disinformation
from our enemies:

  • The
    first priority is developing a whole-of-government strategy for
    countering THE foreign propaganda and disinformation being wages
    against us and our allies by our enemies    .
    The bill would increase the authority, resources, and mandate of the
    Global Engagement Center to include state actors like Russia and
    China as well as non-state actors. The Center will be led by the
    State Department, but with the active senior level participation of
    the Department of Defense, USAID, the Broadcasting Board of
    Governors, the Intelligence Community, and other relevant agencies.
    The Center will develop, integrate, and synchronize
    whole-of-government initiatives to expose and counter foreign
    disinformation operations by our enemies and proactively advance
    fact-based narratives that support U.S. allies and interests.

  • Second, the legislation
    seeks to leverage expertise from outside government to create more
    adaptive and responsive U.S. strategy options. The legislation
    establishes a fund to help train local journalists and provide
    grants and contracts to NGOs, civil society organizations, think
    tanks, private sector companies, media organizations, and other
    experts outside the U.S. government with experience in identifying
    and analyzing the latest trends in foreign government disinformation
    techniques. This fund will complement and support the Center’s
    role by integrating capabilities and expertise available outside the
    U.S. government into the strategy-making process. It will also
    empower a decentralized network of private sector experts and
    integrate their expertise into the strategy-making process.

so, with the likes
of WaPo having already primed the general public to
equate “Russian Propaganda” with “fake news”
(despite admitting after
the fact their own report was essentially “fake“),
while the US media has indoctrinated the public to assume that any
information which is not in compliance with the official government
narrative, or dares to criticize the establishment, is also “fake
news” and thus falls under the “Russian propaganda”
umbrella, the scene is now set for the US government to legally crack
down on every media outlet that the government deems to be “foreign
propaganda.”

Just
like that, the US Ministry
of Truth is
officially born.

De BBC, de Britse nationale omroep en via BBC World Service, wat betreft de radio, een grote speler op de wereld ‘mediamarkt’, heeft een standbeeld van George Orwell (echte naam: Eric Blair) voor het hoofdgebouw geplaatst………. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Laat de BBC een flink aantal jaren geleden al zijn omgevormd, tot een staatsgetrouwe omroep, die niet alleen het ijskoude, inhumane neoliberalisme als het nieuwe evangelie verkondigt, maar die ook in zake oorlog en oorlog (tja, vrede bestaat al lang niet meer) de kant van de westerse propaganda ‘heeft gekozen’. Ofwel het steunen van het uiterst agressieve, om niet te zeggen: zwaar terroristische karakter van het VS buitenlandbeleid, dat slaafs wordt gevolgd door de meeste andere westerse landen………..

George Orwell beschreef in zijn roman 1984 o.a. nu juist die propaganda berichtgeving over oorlogvoering, door de reguliere (massa) media, in het verhaal geheel in handen van de overheid, als een middel om de bevolking tot eenheid te dwingen, in de angst voor de ‘vijand….’

Die vijand is, zoals in 1984, heden ten dage (en dat al behoorlijk lang) nu juist het westen zelf, dat onder het mom van ‘democratie brengen’, onder leiding van de VS, enorme massamoorden aanricht in landen waar het niets te zoeken heeft. Men deinst er niet voor terug een half miljoen kinderen te laten sterven, als een dictator, of een democratisch gekozen president ( en/of regering) niet precies doet wat de VS wil dat er gebeurt, zoals onder (Bill) Clinton door Albright voor elkaar gekregen in Irak……….. Een smerige zaak waarmee Albright desgevraagd, nog steeds geen probleem heeft, ‘het was het waard’, aldus hare kwaadaardigheid………

Alle westerse agressie wordt door de reguliere (massa) media uitgelegd als onoverkomelijk en nodig om andere volkeren ook ‘de heilige neoliberale democratie’ te brengen. Waarbij landen in soms een paar maanden tijd geheel naar de kloten worden geholpen, neem de uiterst misdadige en gewelddadige illegale oorlog tegen Libië in 2011. Dit land werd door het westen terug gebombardeerd van het meest welvarende land van Afrika, naar zo ongeveer het armste land van dat continent……. Dit onder groot applaus van de reguliere media……..

George Orwell voor het BBC gebouw, de beste man zou zich omdraaien in z’n graf als hij dit zou horen, schande!!
