CNN Turkije bracht afgelopen vrijdag het bericht dat bij de illegale aanval van Turkije op Syrisch grondgebied 2 VS militairen waren omgekomen. Volgens het Pentagon was dit nieuws vals en dus niet waar (waar vermeld dient te worden dat het Pentagon nogal eens liegt als het om slachtoffers gaat….)
CNN boogt erop nooit ‘fake news’ (of: ‘nepnieuws’) te brengen en stelt te doen aan ‘top notch investigative journalism around the globe‘, met het voorgaande nieuws is dus ook in dit geval (ten overvloede) gehakt gemaakt van deze stelling (over de zogenaamde top onderzoeksjournalistiek van CNN…….)
Nog vreemder in het CNN nieuwsbericht was de mededeling dat één van ‘de gesneefde militairen’ werd aangeduid als Chris Kyle, een psychopathische moordenaar die 160 mensen bewezen het leven uit hielp en nog eens 95 niet bevestigde moorden op z’n naam had. Echter deze Kyle werd in 2013 op een schietbaan in de VS vermoord door een getraumatiseerde Irak veteraan (die schandalig genoeg tot levenslang werd veroordeeld…..).
Beste bezoeker, dat was het nog niet: CNN plaatste bij het artikel een foto van de acteur die in ‘American Sniper’ de hoofdrol speelt: Bradley Cooper……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Het boek waarop deze film is gebaseerd, werd geschreven door Chris Kyle…….
De Koerden hebben CNN in de val gelokt met dit bericht, dat zoals blijkt ‘niet echt’ journalistiek is onderzocht door ‘deze bestrijders van fake news……’
CNN Turk Reports ‘American Sniper’ Star Killed in Syria

(ZHE) — On Friday a Middle East regional CNN network reported that American Sniper Chris Kyle had been killed while embedded with US-backed Kurdish forces in Syria by invading Turkish troops, and the story went viral. Or maybe they meant to say actor Bradley Cooper?
Though priding itself for its brand recognition in setting the agenda for accurate mainstream news and top notch investigative journalism around the globe, CNN has once again embarrassed itself as its sister network, CNN Turk, fell for what should have been an easy to recognize prank. At the end of this week false reports that two US Special Forces members had been killed in Syria while embedded with American-backed Kurdish units fighting in the northwest Aleppo district of Afrin in Syria spread wildly through major Turkish media after CNN Turk reported it.
The only problem is that the identified US soldier purported to be featured in a photo circulating on social media which is the basis of CNN Turk’s story was actually none other than “American Sniper” actor Bradley Cooper. That’s right, as one classic and sadly all too literally serious headline from Newsweek reads – CNN Turkey Reports ‘American Sniper’ Bradley Cooper Killed In Syria, U.S. Military Denies.
And yes, the Pentagon was forced to issue a quick and urgent denial of the story through US Coalition spokesman Colonel Ryan Dillon, who said Friday: “Reports of two US-Coalition members killed in Afrin are FALSE. Completely UNTRUE.”

CNN Turkey, which is owned by the Turner Broadcasting System Europe and Doğan Media Group, was fooled into believing the satirical report which appears to have started among pro-Kurdish social media.
However, the prank should have been easy to recognize considering all early social media reports were based on a photograph said to be a US Special Forces member named Eddie Bragdon who went by the Kurdish nom de guerre “Zana Rizgar”. But the photograph was so obviously a shot from the 2014 film, American Sniper, based on the life of the late Navy SEAL veteran Chris Kyle.
According to Newsweek, the fake story began circulating when a pro-YPG account called “Bird Person” tweeted the following on Thursday:

Newsweek: “In what’s believed to be the original claim, an account supportive of the Kurdish YPG reported the death of U.S. Special Forces member Eddie Bragdon, a.k.a. Zana Rizgar, instead of the actual individual pictured: U.S. actor Bradley Cooper in the film ‘American Sniper.’ The user later claimed that the post was intended to be satirical and criticized Turkish media for picking it up literally.”
Amidst the propaganda war now raging between Turkish and pro-Kurdish media as Turkey continues its ‘Operation Olive Branch’ inside northwest Syria, both Turkish nationalists – who celebrated the supposed “deaths” of US troops embedded with Syrian Kurds – and Kurdish sources, promoted the story on social media.
Yet from the moment the story spread social media users were quick to point out the obvious origins of the photo. But not before CNN Turk featured the story.
The story of “Eddie Bragdon’s” death was featured briefly on CNNTurk.com but was quickly taken down:
And here’s the story tweeted out by CNN Turk’s verified account: The headline reads “Former US Special Forces military was killed in the ranks of the YPG.”
It appears a number of Turkish military analysts also promoted the story, which also gave it momentum before it landed on CNN Turk’s homepage.
A Kurdish tweep intentionality makes up a story of “ex-American SOF, YPG fighter killed in Afrin” to troll Turkish nationalists. It makes it all the way to Turkish CNN! Top notch investigative journalism!
Many of the dozens of articles which were subsequently written by Turkish and regional outlets based on the CNN reporting have now since taken offline.
The initial pro-Kurdish social media account from which the fake news originated is now celebrating the fact that it successfully trolled CNN and other mainstream outlets, again tweeting the original Bradley Cooper photo but now with the caption (in Turkish), “Smile for the camera!”
We give it a 10 for some top notch trolling. For CNN it’s about par for the course.
PS: angst voor nepnieuws? Zoek op het internet de waarheid bij de alternatieve media! (alternatieve media die meer en meer worden verzwegen in de zoekresultaten van Google…….)
Mensen, gistermiddag donderde ik van m’n stoel, toen ik een verslaggever van de BBC (weet helaas de naam niet) rond 15.43 u. (CET) hoorde vertellen dat beide strijdende partijen in Jemen verantwoordelijk zijn voor de honger in dat land, een hongersnood die intussen aan duizenden kinderen en mensen met een zwakke gezondheid het leven heeft gekost……..
Volgens deze vrouw zijn de Houthi’s mede verantwoordelijk voor de honger in Jemen, dit doordat o.a. de salarissen van ambtenaren als docenten al maandenlang niet worden betaald……… Alsof dit normaal gesproken wel gebeurt in een land dat in een dergelijke (ongelijke) oorlog is verwikkeld……….
Is het godverdomme niet om te janken, de trut had evengoed kunnen stellen, dat de opstand van de Houthi’s tot de hongersnood hebben geleid…….. De Houthi’s hadden zich maar moeten laten afslachten door IS en Al Qaida, die onderdak kregen aangeboden in het land, door de voormalige en door Saoedi-Arabië opnieuw in het zadel gezette president Al-Hadi…..* Alsof Saoedi-Arabië in het volste recht staat om het gebied dat in handen is van de Houthi’s, te blokkeren voor humanitaire hulp, dus water, voedsel, medicijnen en brandstof (voor de vorm laat men wat hulpgoederen door als er weer een VN delegatie het land bezoekt, of als VN medewerkers een konvooi hulpgoederen escorteren)………
De grote makke is het feit dat S-A soennitisch is en de Houthi’s sjiitisch. Dit feit schijnt genoeg reden te zijn om de Houthi’s uit te roeien……. Als er een veredelde vuurpijl van de Houthi’s in Saoedi-Arabië terechtkomt, staat zelfs de reguliere pers in het westen bol van dat bericht, ook al hebben die ‘raketten’ niet één Saoedische burger gedood, terwijl de berichten over de enorme bloedbaden die S-A aanricht in Jemen, zelden of niet in de reguliere westerse media terechtkomen…….
Honger gebruiken om een volk eronder te krijgen, de genocide tactiek van Saoedi-Arabië (gesteund door o.a. de VS), behoort tot de ergste vormen van terreur, een oorlogsmisdaad van enorme grootte……. Daarnaast worden zelfs medicatie tegen cholera en difterie geblokkeerd van doorvoer, terwijl deze ziekten het land teisteren en intussen ook al aan duizenden mensen het leven hebben gekost; je hoeft niet te vragen welke groepen vooral tot de slachtoffers behoren……..
Overigens zijn de 2 genoemde ziekten één op één te danken aan de uiterst agressieve oorlog die S-A voert tegen het volk van Jemen, zo heeft de Saoedische coalitie niet alleen huizenblokken, scholen en ziekenhuizen gebombardeerd, maar ook waterzuiveringsinstallaties en elektriciteitscentrales , tel dat op bij het vernielen van de infrastructuur zoals rioleringsnetwerken en een cholera uitbraak is al snel een feit………
Ongelofelijk deze leugen over de Houthi rebellen en dat op de BBC, een zendgemachtigde die er prat opgaat onafhankelijk te zijn……. ‘Uiteraard’ is de BBC al jaren niet meer onafhankelijk, de BBC zorgt vooral dat het regeringsbeleid geen kritiek krijgt….. De zittende regering is immers de broodheer en deze broodheer levert al zolang de oorlog in Jemen voortduurt wapens en munitie (waaronder clusterbommen) aan de reli-fascistische dictatuur van Saoedi-Arabië…… Daarmee is GB verantwoordelijk voor de vreselijke genocide die de Saoedische coalitie o.l.v. de VS in Jemen uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking…… Verder geeft GB militaire training aan de Saoediërs en helpt bij het coördineren van militaire acties…….
De BBC? Vooral brenger van veel ‘fake news’ (of ‘nepnieuws’)……
* Vreemd te zien dat wanneer je nu op Google zoekt naar de huidige president, je alleen de naam Saleh te zien krijgt. Deze Saleh werd onlangs gedood door de Houthi rebellen, nadat hij met deze rebellen brak en het tegen hen opnam. Voorheen als je naar de ‘huidige president’ zocht, werd deze consequent aangeduid als Abd Rabbuh Mansur Al-Hadi. Deze stapte op nadat de Houthi’s hem met succes hebben bestreden, dit vanwege het onderdak verlenen aan IS en Al-Qaida, vervolgens nam Al-Hadi zijn toevlucht tot Saoedi-Arabië….. Zoals gezegd, als je nu zoekt naar de huidige president, krijg je alleen de naam Saleh te zien, dit in combinatie met berichten over diens dood……. Saleh was eerder president van Jemen in de periode van 1990 tot 2011, hij sloot zich aan bij de Houthi rebellen toen deze het opnamen tegen president Al-Hadi (die er overigens zelf voor koos op te stappen. Saoedi-Arabië dwong hem zijn presidentschap weer op te nemen, zodat hij S-A om militaire hulp kon verzoeken tegen de Houthi rebellen…….).
Vanmorgen op BBC World Service radio het onderwerp ‘Children’s Global Media Summit’ (CGMS). Een om de paar jaar terugkerend evenement, waar kinderen en de (sociale) media centraal staan en dat dit jaar van 5 t/m 7 december in Manchester wordt gehouden.
Tijdens dit onderdeel vertelde een verslaggever dat BBC stafleden scholen in Groot-Brittannië bezoeken in ‘de strijd tegen ‘fake news….’ M.a.w.: het orgaan dat jaarlijks een berg ‘fake news’ brengt*, gaat kinderen waarschuwen tegen ‘fake news..’ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Alsof een inbreker je voorhoudt vooral de deur ‘s nachts niet te sluiten,,,,,,,,,,
De tijd dat de BBC onafhankelijke berichtgeving bracht, heeft maar heel kort geduurd en daar is intussen al jaren geen sprake meer van!!
In het kort komt het erop neer dat de BBC en anderen de kinderen gaan voorliegen en hen voorhouden alleen de reguliere westerse (massa-) media te vertrouwen, terwijl dat nu juist de media zijn die de neoliberale status quo uitdragen als zaligmakend en de VS, Groot-Brittannië en andere NAVO landen steunen bij hun ongebreidelde terreur uitoefening op plaatsen, waar deze landen niets te zoeken hebben…… Uiteraard zal men kinderen voorhouden vooral niet de alternatieve media te bezoeken, daar deze volgens hen nepnieuws brengen, terwijl daar nu juist wel de waarheid is te vinden, zeker als de reguliere media meehuilen in het koor van politici en de grote ondernemers, die dag in dag uit de boel belazeren……

Ralph Hamers de topgraaier van ING bezocht een theekrans van bankiers in Las Vegas en waarschuwde daar voor de macht van bedrijven als Google en Apple…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Voorlopig werden en worden bedrijven als Google en Apple door eerst de regering Obama en later die van Trump gedwongen mee te werken aan het vernietigen van de privacy (een mensenrecht!)…….

Op BNR gistermiddag (rond 16.38 u.) het bericht dat na Facebook, nu ook Google heeft toegegeven, advertentieruimte te hebben verkocht aan de Russen, u weet wel het Russische ‘fake kantoor’ dat in directe verbinding zou staan met Putin zelf……….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
Ofwel: Google is onder druk gezet door één of meerdere van de geheime diensten in de VS en probeert haar hachje te redden met zo’n flut bewering, of Google denkt veel klanten kwijt te raken als ze niet mee janken in het koor van democraten die het niet kunnen verkroppen dat Hillary Clinton het, in een door haar vals geleidde verkiezingscampagne, heeft verloren van het beest Trump……
Het gaat hier, als eerder met Facebook (houdt u vast) om het enorme bedrag van $ 100,000 dollar……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Het totale bedrag dat aan deze verkiezingen in de VS is uitgegeven, bedraagt naar schattingen 5,8 miljard dollar……. Is er dan werkelijk nog één imbeciel die denkt dat beambten van Putin niet weten om welke kapitalen het gaat in de VS presidentsverkiezingen en werkelijk denken daarin het verschil te kunnen maken met $ 100,000 dollar, of van mijn part met $ 10 miljoen dollar aan advertenties? Als Putin zelf zo dom zou zijn, waren we al in een derde wereldoorlog beland………… Iets dat met een figuur als Trump of Hillary Clinton op de plek van Putin wel was gebeurd……….
Nogmaals: als er één ‘land’ is dat: -willekeurig elk ander land hackt, -zich bemoeit met verkiezingen in andere landen, -landen middels economische en/of militaire druk tot zaken dwingt, -opstanden en coups organiseert in andere landen, -zelfs de ene illegale oorlog na de andere begint, is het de VS wel!! En deze walgelijke terreur wordt gesteund door de westerse regeringen en samenwerking met de reguliere westerse (massa-) media………
Zoals intussen algemeen bekend mag worden geacht, werkt ook onze regering mee aan deze terreur (die ook nog eens vluchtelingenstromen opgang brengt en terreur op de EU straten heeft uitgelokt)…….. Sterker nog ook u en ik doen daar indirect aan mee, daar wij zelfs extra bloeden voor de gevolgen van de illegale oorlogen* die de VS in het Midden-Oosten, Afghanistan en Afrika voert en voor het meedoen van Nederland aan die oorlogen, oorlogen die gekenmerkt worden door enorme oorlogsmisdaden (alleen het beginnen van een illegale oorlog is al een gigantische oorlogsmisdaad…)…….

De Catalaanse politie is overgenomen door de Guardia Civil, althans staat voorlopig onder het bevel van deze voormalige fascistische houwdegens…… De inhumane ijskoude neoliberale regering Rajoy van de Partido Popular (dat overigens meer en meer op een fascistische beweging begint te gelijken), overlaat de media met dreigementen richting de Catalanen die onafhankelijkheid van Madrid eisen……
De Spaanse minister van o.a. Onderwijs, de Vigo, stelde dat het referendum tegen de grondwet ingaat……. Slim hè?? ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Je meent ‘t? Een deel van het land wil volkomen terecht zonder de rest van Spanje door, overigens al een heel oude wens van het Catalaanse volk en dan merk je op, dat dit tegen de grondwet is……. Tja, een grondwet wordt niet opgesteld met de opzet een afscheiding te stimuleren; om het maar eens anders te stellen.
Ja, ik lach wel, maar ga even na wat deze plork in feite zegt: men is ongrondwettelijk bezig en dat is een fikse misdaad in Spanje…….. De Vigo had net zo goed kunnen aankondigen dat hij de inzet van het leger a.s. zondag niet uitsluit……….. Verder liet deze opperhufter weten, dat de Catalanen zich niet aan de regels van het spel houden……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Nee, goed gezien de Vigo, de Catalanen en vele andere Spanjaarden zijn het smerige spel van de regering Rajoy spuugzat….. Waar dan nog het onaanvaardbare gedrag van jou en jouw dictatoriale kabinetscollega’s bij komt >> als er nog Catalanen waren die twijfelden of ze wel een onafhankelijk Catalonië wensten, dan zijn ze nu wel totaal overtuigt van de noodzaak tot die onafhankelijkheid!!
Trouwens waar was de landelijke overheid? Men wist al lang van tevoren dat dit referendum eraan zat te komen, waarom geen overheidsvoorlichting en bezoek van de regering om de Catalanen te overtuigen, zich vooral niet af te scheiden???? Men heeft nu door dat een grote meerderheid van de Catalanen voor onafhankelijkheid is en komt dan met deze anti-democratische maatregelen…….. In feite geeft dit ten overvloede nog eens aan, dat de Catalanen groot gelijk hebben, de regering heeft zelfs geen belangstelling voor ze………
De Spaanse regering maakte gisteren bekend, dat het referendum geen doorgang zal vinden a.s. zondag en dat mensen, belooft niet veel goeds……………..
Intussen is het stil in de EU en in het kabinet Rutte 2; hoe is het mogelijk dat men Spanje niet tot de orde roept!!

High Court on Friday ordered Google to delete an application that it
said Catalan separatists were using to spread information about a
disputed independence vote this Sunday, Reuters
reported.
The court also ordered Google to block any future applications
developed by the gmail address “Onvotar1oct@gmail.com”,
according to a written ruling.
Google
told The Spain Report that: “we remove content from our platforms
when we receive a court order or when it violates our terms and
conditions”. The app no longer appears to be available in Spain.
The
court order told Google Inc—at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain
View CA 94043 (USA)—to take down the app located at that URL and
also to block or eliminate any future apps submitted by the user with
e-mail address “onvotar1oct@gmail.com”
or identifying as “Catalonia Voting Software”. The judge said in
her ruling that the tweet with the app link is “only a continuation
of the actions of the [Catalan government] to block” Constitutional
Court and High Court orders “repeatedly”.
The
High Court in Catalonia issued an order on September 23 allowing
police to take down any referendum websites linked to by members of
the Catalan government on their social media accounts. Friday’s new
court order was issued because this is a referendum mobile app, for
download, not a link to a referendum website or domain directly.
The
“reluctant attitude” of the Catalan government to obey the
previous orders about referendum websites is “clear, once again”,
says the judge. “…they mean to dodge said blockades with computer
applications for mobile devices, which, like the web pages, only
promote and facilitate the holding of the referendum on October 1.”
The
Civil Guard notified had notified the judge earlier today that a link
had appeared on the Twitter profile of Carles Puigdemont, the Catalan
First Minister, at 8:30 p.m. on September 27, “announcing the
availability of a mobile app with information about the referendum in
Catalonia, along with a link to download it”. The judge has ordered
the Civil Guard to take the actions needed to enforce the order. Some
140 referendum websites and mirrors have now been taken down on court
orders since the beginning of September.
As
reported earlier, Madrid, which claims the authority of a
constitution that declares the country to be indivisible, remained
implacably opposed to Sunday’s vote. “I insist that there will be
no referendum on Oct. 1,” central government spokesman Mendez de
Vigo told a news conference following the weekly cabinet meeting,
reiterating that the vote was illegal.
However,
as also noted previously, it appears that the local population has no
intention of complying with the crackdown. In a sign that large
crowds are again expected on the streets on Sunday, department store
chain El Corte Ingles said it would shut three stores in central
Barcelona. The central government said airspace above the city would
be partly restricted, according to Reuters.
Meanwhile,
lines of tractors draped in the red-and-yellow striped Catalan flag
left provincial towns on Friday, planning to converge on Barcelona in
a sign of support for the referendum.

Webb geeft in het artikel de alternatieven waarmee je de censoren en geheime onderzoekers (geheime diensten) van de overheid en het bedrijfsleven kan omzeilen, zo kan u uw eigen ‘Virtual Private Network’ (VPN) opzetten, waarmee u zelfs uw IP-adres geheim kan houden.

Your
Guide to Avoiding Internet Censorship of Independent News Journalism
There
are lots of good strategies for beating both corporate and government
Internet censors and snoops. These range from alternatives to Google,
Yahoo, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter — to direct subscriptions to
authors and pubs — to setting up your own VPN. All are worth the
effort.
(MPN) — While Google’s
Information Age dominancehas
long been recognized to have some unsavory consequences, the massive
technology corporation has, in recent months, taken to directly
censoring content and traffic to a variety of independent media
outlets across the political spectrum — essentially muting the
voices of any site or author who does not toe the establishment line.
This
new offensive has coincided with Google efforts to clamp down on
“fake news” and “extremist” content, which – on its
subsidiary, YouTube – led to the
categorical blocking of
videos portraying war crimes and other disturbing events of the
Syrian conflict and Israel’s occupation of Palestine. Other
independent media figures, such as Luke
Rudowski and Carey Wedler,
on the popular video streaming service, saw many
of their videos demonetized.
Though
the crackdown on YouTube was more obvious, the Google search engine –
the most popular in the world – is now burying or blocking
independent media sites from its search results.
Conservatives have
long claimed that
Google was selectively targeting their content due to the personal
political bias of the company’s executives — but now, since
Google announced its new guidelines, numerous progressive,
transparency, and anti-war websites that act as watchdogs to the
establishment have seen their traffic diminish substantially.
Counterpunch,
World Socialist Website, MintPress News, Democracy Now, American
Civil Liberties Union and Wikileaks are just
a handful of
the sites that have seen massive drops in their returns from Google
searches. The World Socialist Website alone experienced a 67 percent
decrease in returns from Google following the implementation of
Google’s new algorithm targeting so-called “fake news.”
MintPress News, however, has suffered the steepest decline, having
seen a 76 percent decrease in traffic from Google since the new
algorithm was put into effect.
Google
has its reasons for choosing to censor viewpoints that clash with or
even raise questions about the official narrative. Google shares deep
connections with the U.S.’ political powerbrokers, notably with the
CIA, which originally
helped fund Google
into existence with the intention of controlling the flow of
information.
Understandably
— in light of its deep connections to those who stand the most to
lose from the actual free flow of information — Google has emerged
as a leader of the “fight” against so-called “fake news.” The
concept of “fake news” took on sudden weight following last
November’s U.S. presidential election: in the tweets and rants of
newly-elected President Donald Trump, media predictions of a Clinton
victory were ridiculed as “FAKE NEWS,” while Clinton supporters
also wound up blaming “fake news” for Clinton’s loss in the
election.
In
short order, the term became a term of derision and dismissal applied
to any and all disagreeable reporting. With the “fake news” net
cast so wide, the ground was fertile for a campaign against the
official story-challenging work of independent media — dependent
for its reach, to a far greater extent than its mainstream media
counterparts, upon the good graces of monster Internet traffic cops
such as Google.
The
following guide offers a variety of solutions and options for those
concerned with Google’s overreach and its decision to become the
Internet’s unelected “Ministry of Truth.”
Dumping
Google Search
Dominating over
80% of
global searches made on the Internet, Google’s chokehold on the
flow of information is undeniable. Now that its algorithm has been
shown to target news sites critical of the establishment on both
sides of the aisle, finding an alternative becomes an essential task
irrespective of one’s political leaning.
However,
don’t expect other brand name search engines like Microsoft’s
Bing or Yahoo to come to the rescue, as these too have
been caught censoring
search results in the past. Microsoft, in particular, is very
untrustworthy, given its eager
participation in
the NSA’s PRISM surveillance program — where it illegally shared
the Internet user data, including search queries, of U.S. citizens
without their knowledge.
Given
its willingness to cooperate with the government against the interest
of American citizens, Microsoft would be perhaps more willing even
than Google to censor access to so-called “fake news.”
Yahoo
is little better, as it too was an early adopter of the PRISM
surveillance program, second only to Microsoft. Like Microsoft,
they willingly
cooperate with
government censorship efforts – as well as the outing
of dissidents –
in other countries.
Thankfully,
as far as search engines go, there are other options available that
not only respect your privacy but also offer fairer searches,
including some features that even Google doesn’t offer.
DuckDuckGo
Of
all the viable Google alternatives, DuckDuckGo is
the most well-known, having been promoted by PCMag.com, the Guardian,
and The New York Times as a “long-term” threat to Google’s
search dominance. It was even one of the top 50 sites of 2011,
according to Time magazine.
However,
the “mainstream” accolades are, in this case, well-deserved.
DuckDuckGo is best known for its motto “the
search engine that doesn’t track you,” complete with Tor
browser functionality. While
this is a clear boon for privacy enthusiasts – or anyone concerned
about illegal NSA spying – it also results in search results that
are not filtered based on your search history. In other words, users
are more likely to be presented with search results that challenge
their existing ideas.
DuckDuckGo
also boasts an
impressive search algorithm that
excludes Google results but includes results from other well-known
search engines, mixed with the data obtained by DuckDuckGo’s
own web
crawler bot.
The results are filtered for spam and re-ordered using its trademark
“Instant Answers” platform, which places high-quality answers
above other results and advertisements. The “Instant Answers”
platform gathers answers provided by top popular websites, like
Wikipedia, in addition to community-built answers.
For
those tech-savvy users who don’t trust the spam filtering or even
the “Instant Answer” platform, these functions — as well as
DuckDuckGo itself — is open-source and also offers DuckDuckHack,
where users can create their own plug-ins for use in DuckDuckGo and
even help improve the search engine overall.
For
less savvy tech users, DuckDuckGo conveniently functions like any
other search engine, in addition to providing several features even
Google doesn’t offer. It
also has a search app for both iPhone and Android, as well as
plug-ins for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and offers support in
several languages.
Ixquick/StartPage
Ixquick is
an American/Dutch meta-search engine, meaning itsimultaneously
searches multiple
databases and other search engines,
including Google, across the Internet. It uses a “star system” to
rank search results, placing a star next to each result for every
search engine that ranks that result as one of its 10 best for a
given search. A five-star result, for example, means that five search
engines considered that result to be among the 10 most relevant.
Ixquick
— which has now merged with its subsidiary, StartPage — also
tackles the issue of privacy by not storing user-specific details
such as cookies or past search results. Like DuckDuckGo, Ixquick
offers unfiltered search results generated by Google’s
“personalized” searches. Privacy enthusiasts may recognize
Ixquick as the default search engine for the Tor browser.
Ixquick
is supported in 17 languages and offers a plug-in for Mozilla
Firefox. They also offer a privacy-minded, encrypted email server
called StartMail.
Gibiru
Gibiru,
like the aforementioned search engines, prides itself on offering
maximum privacy. It avoids tracking its users by providing anonymous
and encrypted searches. It describes itself as “the preferred
Search Engine for Patriots” and offers non-personalized, anonymous
web results while emphasizing the disdain of its developers for the
NSA. Part of what sets Gibiru apart is its claim to offer
“uncensored” searches, as their web crawlers intentionally
include pages that Google has blocked or buried in its search
results.
Gibiru
also has a unique feature called “Uncensored News.” In addition
to aggregating results from other search engines, Gibiru adds its own
algorithm that specifically looks for results from independent media
outlets, particularly those that tend to “promote ‘alternative’
views from the mainstream.”
Recognizing
that mainstream media results are picked up by Google and Bing,
Gibiru does not use its bandwidth searching through these results.
Even up-and-coming independent media sites can gain inclusion in
Uncensored News results by communicating with the Gibiru team.
Gibiru
offers both a toolbar and a plugin for Mozilla Firefox.
Subscribe
directly to your favorite pages
Though
the above search engines can assist in more accurate and less
censored internet searches, the best way to get news you trust is
directly from the source. Anyone who reads independent media
eventually develops preferences for certain sites and authors whose
content they consistently find reliable and interesting.
If
you are concerned with Google’s clampdown on independent media, the
most surefire way to ensure your access to the sites you enjoy is by
subscribing directly to them via email. Most independent media pages
offer you the option to subscribe to their mailing lists, where you
receive their top stories on a daily basis. Some pages charge for
subscriptions, but most – such as MintPress
News’ Daily Digest –
are free and allow you to unsubscribe at any time. Some websites,
including MintPress, also
offer apps for
Android or iPhone, which allow users direct and convenient access to
the content of those pages.
If
you are concerned that all of the newsletters and stories of the
pages you want to follow will clutter your email, there are several
good options. Some mail servers allow you to label certain types of
incoming mail, and creating a specific label for “news” can
streamline the process of following all of your favorite pages in one
place. Alternatively, you can create an email account dedicated to
news in order to keep it separate from email accounts more focused on
work or socializing.
In
some cases, however, your favorite writers may not regularly publish
in the same place, making their work difficult to follow via email
subscription. Many authors have either their own web pages dedicated
to their work or publish on websites such as Medium —
a site offering both free and premium membership options, that hosts
the writings of many big names in independent news from across the
political spectrum.
Signing
up for Medium allows you to follow any writer you like, even
mainstream ones – a boon, for instance, if you like a certain
writer at, say, The Wall Street Journal but don’t trust the paper
as a whole. Certain popular writers in independent media — such
Nafeez Ahmed’s Insurge
Intelligence —
even publish some of their biggest stories exclusively on Medium.

Facebook’s moderation system, which combines an automated flagging system with limited human oversight, has consistently drawn criticism, once banning a satirical account which criticized U.S. military spending.(AP/Czarek Sokolowski)
Though
some may value their Facebook account for keeping in touch with
friends and family, the social media giant is quickly becoming
unreliable for receiving news content posted by your friends as well
as the people or pages you follow. Facebook and Twitter have each
been caught censoring on several occasions and both now openly patrol
for “fake news” and “hate speech” — burying stories that
users would otherwise see, based on the recommendations of Facebook
or Twitter-approved flaggers. Many of these flaggers have been found
to publish “fake news” themselves or have a strong bias against
particular viewpoints, particularly those critical of conservative
politics.
Just
as with Google, Facebook and Twitter users can no longer be sure that
their newsfeeds contain the news they want to read, just as content
creators and publishers can no longer expect the same scope and reach
they once enjoyed on social media.
Unfortunately,
the alternatives to Facebook and Twitter are few and lack the large
user communities that make a social network successful. However,
there are two notable sites that are attempting to change that.
One
of those sites is Steemit. Steemit is
a social media platform that runs a blogging and social network
website built on top of a blockchain database. Steemit now boasts a
decently sized community, though it hardly compares to Facebook in
terms of daily users. Part of its success has been due to the site’s
commitment to paying users for creating and curating popular content
on the site.
Per the site’s system, users receive digital points (“Steem”)
depending on the success of their posts, which they can exchange for
more tangible rewards or payment via online exchanges. With $1 of
Steem now
worth just
over $4 USD, some people have found using Steemit to be both socially
and economically beneficial.
Another
potential Facebook competitor is Minds —
anopen
source, encrypted, and community-owned social network site that
values free speech and
doesn’t bow to government or advertiser pressure. It hosts
individual user profiles and blogs and creates an unfiltered
newsfeed for its users.
Members
can even be paid for posting their content if it garners a
significant number of views and upvotes. Although at present the
Minds community is tiny compared to that of Facebook, it may in years
to come become a more popular alternative, as Facebook continues to
disappoint.
Avoiding
outright censorship if and when It happens
While
censorship has long
been a reality in
countries like China, Western governments like to tout themselves as
being the guardians of freedom and the free flow of information. But
many of these governments, particularly the United States, have come
to realize in recent years that they are on
the losing side of
the “information war,” as trust in the corporate-owned media and
the government itself has sunk to historic lows.
Though
Western governments have, so far, outsourced censorship to technology
companies like Google and Facebook, there is little reason to believe
that these governments will refrain from demanding the outright
censorship of information that doesn’t toe the official line.
Take,
for example, the recent rhetoric of U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May
who, in the wake of the Manchester bombing, has pushed for censoring
“extremist propaganda” online. May’s assertion concerned
internet watchdog groups,
who likened her proposals to China’s widespread censorship of the
Internet.
If
official government censorship comes to your country – or if you
suspect that it is already there – the easiest workaround is
setting up a virtual private network, or VPN. A VPN allows you to use
your computer as though it were connected to a network other than the
one you actually use. In the event of government censorship in your
country, a VPN allows you to virtually connect to a network set up in
another country where such censorship is not in effect. Using a VPN
has the added bonus of greater Internet privacy — as effective VPN
protocols encrypt your traffic, helping to protect you from
government surveillance as well as censorship.
VPNs
are provided by VPN service providers, not all of whom are created
equal. VPN providers with good reputations include Strong VPN,
SurfEasy, and TunnelBear. Of these, TunnelBear is the least
expensive – offering a free service – and SurfEasy the most
expensive at $11.99 per month. However, the Opera browser now

De (kortzichtige) domheid van de kwaadaardige PvdA hufter Bussemaker is werkelijk stuitend!!
Gistermorgen was deze suffe PvdA helleveeg te gast in Standpunt NL en verdomd voor de zoveelste keer gaf Bussemaker haar eigen beleid een zware onvoldoende (waar het woord ‘onvoldoende’ een eufemisme is voor de enorme wanprestatie die ze in meer dan 4 jaar tijd heeft neergezet…)…….
Onderwerp: de ongelijke beloning van vrouwen. De redactie onder leiding van de neoliberale zeurdoos Kockelman, had daar ‘een mooie stelling’ bij bedacht: ‘Vrouwen moeten beter leren onderhandelen over hun salaris……………….’ Zo die zit, zal Kockelman gedacht hebben!!, het viel me zwaar tegen dat de paar inbellers die aan het woord werden gelaten, geen van allen deze stelling onderuit haalden……..
Immers het is te zot voor woorden, dat je nu met een dergelijk lullige stelling komt, terwijl al bewezen is, dat ook vrouwelijke commissarissen en toezichthouders in het MKB aanzienlijk minder verdienen dan hun manlijke collega’s (dit staat NB zelfs op de site van Standpunt NL!).. Eén ding is zeker: die vrouwen kunnen gegarandeerd beter voor zichzelf opkomen, dan een flapdrol als de zwaar over een eendenflats getilde zakkenwasser Kockelman!
De aanleiding voor dit onderwerp was het bericht dat de VS overheid van Google inzage heeft geëist in haar salarisadministratie, daar die overheid Google beschuldigt van het zwaar onderbetalen van vrouwen. Google ontkent en weigert de administratie te overleggen (tijd voor een wereldwijde petitie aan de topgraaiers van Google inzage te geven!).
In de VS is er wetgeving die een dergelijk onderscheid verbiedt, het is immers discriminatie op sekse! Bussemaker: “In Nederland doen we niet hetzelfde als in de VS….” ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ja dat kan je wel zeggen, godverdomme!! Bussemaker zit zoals gezegd al meer dan 4 jaar op haar positie als (wanpresterend) minister en in die 4 jaar is dit onderwerp zelfs meer dan 4 keer aan de orde geweest en al 4 keer is de conclusie hetzelfde: vrouwen worden in vergelijking met hun manlijke collega’s oneerlijk behandeld als het om betaling in eenzelfde functie gaat!!
“We doen hier al veel” (om het verschil in betaling te dichten, Ap), zo durfde Bussemaker te stellen…….. Waaraan Bussemaker verbond, dat de SER ook een advies dienaangaande heeft doen uitgaan…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ja, dat zal helpen, advies van die schoftenraad die krom regeringsbeleid recht moet lullen!!
In Nederland is seksediscriminatie overigens ook wettelijk verboden, maar daarop zei Bussemaker, dat het moeilijk te bewijzen is……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ja extreem moeilijk om de salarissen van vrouwen en mannen met eenzelfde functie en een even lange staat van dienst in een bedrijf naast elkaar te leggen en te vergelijken!! Eerder durfde Bussemaker juist naar de wet te wijzen, toen ze stelde: “Waar een wil is is een weg en waar geen weg is, is een wet”. Deze uitsprak deed ze nadat een onderzoek naar voren bracht, dat vrouwen tegen het ‘old boys network’ aanlopen…….. Daar repte ze gisteren overigens met geen woord over, al geef ik toe het begin niet te hebben gehoord en heb zeker geen zin, de misselijkmakende kwal nog eens aan te horen, al helemaal niet binnen 24 uur………
Trouwens als e.e.a zo moeilijk te bewijzen is, waarom heeft Bussemaker dit dan niet als minister vergemakkelijkt, door wetgeving aan te passen??!!!
We zetten hier stapjes, liet Bussemaker weten……. Inderdaad ‘stapjes’, al is de richting van die stapjes niet bekend……… Hoewel? Volgens mij gaan ze in de verkeerde richting!
Op de vraag van Kockelman, of het niet zinnig was eens te kijken hoe het in landen geregeld is, waar vrouwen wel gelijk worden betaald, zei Bussemaker uiteindelijk dat ze dit ‘wel eens zou kunnen doen…..’ Al is ze nu, na 4 jaar flutbeleid, te laat daar ze nu demissionair is en god verhoede dat deze enorme kwezel in de toekomst nog eens een bestuursfunctie mag vervullen, jezus!!
Uit de woorden van Bussemaker kan je maar één ding concluderen, ze is zo dom dat ze, zoals gezegd, zichzelf alweer een zware onvoldoende heeft gegeven!!

NU.nl, u weet wel het medium dat alle leugens uit de reguliere pers, zonder fatsoenlijke controle voor waar aanneemt en zelf ook publiceert, zie de berichtgeving over de bevrijding van Oost-Aleppo….. Of wat dacht u van wat men daar noemt ‘de annexatie van De Krim’, terwijl iedere imbeciel kan weten, dat de bevolking van De Krim, zich na een door internationale waarnemers goedgekeurd referendum, aansloot bij Rusland…….
Onder die bevolking was ook verreweg het grootste deel van de oorspronkelijke bevolking van De Krim voor aansluiting bij Rusland! Logisch, de bevolking van De Krim had voor het overgrote deel gekozen voor de democratisch gekozen president Janoekovytsj……. Deze werd afgezet middels een door de VS opgezette opstand, die vooropgezet leidde tot de staatsgreep in Oekraïne. De VS bekostigde het geheel met 4 miljard dollar en regisseerde de boel……. Net als de bevolking van Oost-Oekraïne, was de bevolking van De Krim tegen de neonazi-junta van de door de VS geparachuteerde corrupte grofgraaier Porosjenko…….
‘Nee echt een geweldig idee’, NU.nl feiten laten controleren’. laat dit medium eerst de eigen berichtgeving maar eens controleren!!
Trouwens wat is er eigenlijk zo betrouwbaar en sociaal, als het om Facebook gaat???
Vorige week al gemeld, maar toch nog maar even aandacht voor het volgende beste lezer: Facebook gaat nieuws laten checken door een aantal grote dagbladen* en als volgens minstens twee van deze dagbladen wordt gesteld dat e.e.a. niet op feiten berust, wordt er een aantekening bij het bericht gezet, dat het bericht ‘niet op feiten berust……’ Ook zullen deze berichten heel laag, of helemaal niet in de zoekresultaten terug te vinden zijn……….
Facebook is nu bezig de boel voor Frankrijk op poten te zetten, waar o.a. Le Monde als ‘fact checker’ is aangewezen, in Duitsland schijnt deze censuur volgens BNR (gistermiddag rond 16.37 u.) al te ‘werken….’
In de VS gaan onder andere de Washington Post (WaPo) en de New York Times berichten op feiten controleren……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Terwijl dit groot-leveranciers zijn van nepnieuws!!! Neem de berichten over Russische hacks en beïnvloeding van de verkiezingen, geen snipper bewijs en toch houdt men deze leugen overeind……
Een vergelijkbare situatie wat betreft alle leugens (middels nepnieuws) die tot de grootste terreurdaad van deze eeuw heeft geleid: de illegale oorlog tegen Irak, begonnen door de VS (ook met Nederlandse steun en voorbereiding) die tot nu toe al meer dan 1,5 miljoen Irakezen het leven heeft gekost, inclusief een groot aantal kinderen en vrouwen!!!
Overigens, BNR wist niet te melden, dat Google met hetzelfde bezig is*.
U begrijpt uiteraard dat alle nepnieuws, dat door de reguliere media wordt gebracht, niet gecensureerd zal worden……. RT (Russia Today) wordt keer op keer aangewezen als brenger van nepnieuws, terwijl men werkelijk niet één voorbeeld kan geven, dat dit bewijst………..
