Griekenland: laatste EU ‘reddingsactie’ met 15 miljard euro afgerond, ofwel het grote belazeren van de EU bevolking is voltooid

Griekenland ‘krijgt’ de laatste 15 miljard van de EU en daarmee wordt de ‘reddingsactie voor Griekenland’ voltooid…….. Deze enorme leugen, ‘de redding van Griekenland’, wordt de EU burgers nu al een paar jaar door de strot geduwd….. Niet Griekenland moest gered worden maar de banken (en andere financiële instellingen) van EU lidstaten, die op de pof geld uitleenden aan opvolgende corrupte Griekse regeringen, dit terwijl zelfs een kind had kunnen weten dat dit geld zou verdwijnen op buitenlandse bankrekeningen van de leden die deze Griekse regeringen bevolkten……. (goede vrienden van politici uit VVD, CDA, PvdA en D66….)

Ook de centrale banken zoals onze Nederlandse Bank hebben niet opgelet, de directeur destijds CDA kakzever Wellink heeft als toezichthouder z’n taak volkomen verzaakt, een strafrechtelijk onderzoek meer dan waard!

Schande dat we zo zijn voorgelogen, niet alleen door onze regeringen (te beginnen met Balkenende 4 onder financieel bewind van PvdA opperhufter Bos) plus Rutte 1 en 2, maar ook door de Europese Commissie, de ECB, de Eurogroep (o.l.v. PvdA ploert Dijsselbloem) en het IMF……. (dan durft men nog over heldhaftig optreden van oplichter Wouter Bos te spreken….)

De gewone Griek is keihard getroffen door deze in feite corrupte maatregelen, die zoals gezegd maar één doel hadden, de onverantwoordelijke banken uit m.n. Noordwest-Europa redden, iets dat zelfs recht tegen de (fascistische) kapitalistisch-neoliberale status quo ingaat……

Een groot aantal Grieken heeft hun huis op moeten geven en is bij ouders dan wel andere familie ingetrokken, een idem aantal Grieken had en heeft geen geld voor medicijnen, zelfs niet voor kankertherapieën, of voor pijnstillers t.b.v. terminale patiënten…… Voorts zijn veel Griekse jongeren het land ontvlucht, daar de werkloosheid uitzichtloos is…. (vanmorgen durfde men te beweren dat het wat betreft de jeugdwerkloosheid goed gaat in Griekenland….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ja, jongeren die niet meer in Griekenland wonen, worden niet meer meegeteld in de werkloosheidscijfers…… ‘Vreemd hè?’)

Griekenland heeft voor de schulden bij de bankenmaffia drastische maatregelen moeten treffen en de bevolking uit moeten persen, voorts heeft men de arbeidsvoorwaarden onder druk van de EU uitgekleed….. (waar PvdA schoft Dijsselbloem van de Eurogroep een ‘mooie rol’ heeft gespeeld…..) Griekenland heeft een groot aantal staatseigendommen voor een appel en ei moeten verkopen onder druk van de trojka (ECB, Europese Commissie en IMF)…..

De rest van de staatseigendommen zijn voor godbetert 99 jaar ondergebracht bij het Europees Stabiliteitsmechanisme (ESM), die deze eigendommen naar eigen goedkeuring kunnen verkopen zo nodig (weer) voor een appel en een ei…..

Weliswaar is nu het laatste deel van de reddingsactie afgerond, maar de EU en IMF zullen de komende jaren 4 keer per jaar de situatie in Griekenland evalueren, om te zien of het goed gaat met de inning van belasting en het verder uitnemen van de bevolking (nogmaals o.a. voor onze banken!)……. Kijk dat grote Griekse bedrijven de belasting ontduiken in het buitenland is geen probleem voor de trojka of voor schoft Dijsselbloem, dit gebeurt zelfs in belastingparadijs Nederland……

Hoe is het mogelijk dat zelfs de reguliere media de leugens van de afzonderlijke EU lidstaten (zoals van de kabinetten Rutte en Balkenende 4), de Europese Commissie, de ECB, het IMF en de Eurogroep blijven herhalen, terwijl de feiten zo overduidelijk op straat liggen…… Ach ja, van een onafhankelijke reguliere pers is al lang geen sprake meer…. Sterker nog: kranten als de Telegraaf, Volkskrant en NRC hebben met hun smerige berichtgeving ronduit haat gezaaid tegen de Griekse bevolking……

Het is 2018 mensen, te triest en onbeschoft voor woorden dat dit alles mogelijk is!! Nogmaals: NEXIT nu het nog kan!

Argentijnse regering naait het volk in IMF pak

Het
IMF leent de totaal onverantwoordelijke regering van Argentinië het
voor dit land fenomenaal grote bedrag van 50 miljard dollar.

Alsof
het geld gratis is zo laat de Argentijnse regering weten blij te zijn
met deze meer dan waanzinnige deal…….

Eerder
gaf de Argentijnse regering een obligatielening uit waar deze voor
100 jaar een vaste winst garandeert………

De
grote
onderlaag zal weer keihard worden gepakt met deze lening, zoals dit
eerder deze eeuw (zie het tweede hieronder opgenomen artikel uit 2004
met de titel ‘IMF
admits mistakes in Argentina crisis‘)
en
in de 90 er jaren al eens het geval was. Argentinië zal zich met deze
deal moeten onderwerpen aan het IMF en haar keiharde neoliberale eisen tot hervormingen…….

Begin
deze eeuw versterkte een grote lening van het IMF de crisis in Argentinië en ook nu is de verwachting dat dit zal gebeuren…….

Argentinië verwordt met deze IMF lening tot het Zuid-Amerikaanse Griekenland,
waar de welgestelden, zoals die in Griekenland al lang hun kapitaal
hebben veiliggesteld in het buitenland (2 vliegen in 1 klap >> ten eerste het geld is veilig voor eventuele faillissementen van banken (of grote belastingverhogingen op vermogen), ten tweede: de ontduiking van belastingen op enorme schaal…… (waar familie Zorreguieta, je weet wel de familie van pampakoningin Maxima, ook
tot de welgestelden behoort……)

De
arme bevolking van Griekenland, intussen het grootste deel van de
bevolking weet wat dit betekent, zoals de ouderen die daar praktisch
geen pensioen meer ontvangen (waar ze zelf voor spaarden), of wat dacht je van kankerpatiënten die de benodigde medicamenten zoals pijnstillers niet meer kunnen
betalen……..

De
Griekse schuld is zo hoog dat de (lage) rentebetalingen al niet zijn te voldoen, laat staan dat het land tot aflossen van de enorme schuld zal komen, hetzelfde lot wacht Argentinië…….

nogmaals hoe ijskoud, inhumaan neoliberaal beleid tot grote ellende
zal leiden onder de grote maatschappelijke onderlaag van Argentinië en de crisis daar alleen zal verdiepen…… Bovendien regeert president en regeringsleider Mauricio Macri van de Propuesta Republicana, kortweg PRO, over zijn eigen graf en dat van nakomende regeringen, immers Argentinië heeft met deze lening een groot deel van de zeggenschap in eigen land vrijwillig overgedragen aan het IMF……..

Daarmee is het zeker dat Argentinië zich met hart en ziel heeft verbonden aan het ijskoude, inhumane neoliberalisme, waar zelfs een socialistische regering niets tegen kan ondernemen…… Zie de Griekse situatie waar Tsipras een zogenaamde socialist zijn land uit handen heeft gegeven aan de Europese Commissie, het IMF en de ECB, de Europese Centrale Bank……. Just Made IMF History With Biggest Bailout Loan Ever

(ZHE) — Just
a few weeks after Argentina became ground zero for the coming
Emerging Market crisis, when its currency suddenly collapsed at the
end of April amid soaring inflation, exploding capital outflows and a
central bank that was far behind the curve (as in “13% of rate
hikes in a week” behind)…

…
the
IMF has officially bailed
out the country –
again – this time with a $50 billion, 36-month stand-by loan, and
coming in about
$10 billion more than
rumored earlier in the week, it was the largest ever bailout loan in
IMF history,
meant to help restore investor confidence in a nation that, between
its soaring external debt and current account deficit, prompted
JPMorgan to suggest that
along with Turkey, Argentina is in effect, doomed.

As
the JPM chart below shows, the country’s total budget deficit,
which includes interest payments on debt, was 6.5% of GDP last year,
much of reflecting a debt binge of about $100 billion over the last
two and a half years. The primary fiscal deficit in 2017 was 3.9%.

The
loan will have a minimum interest rate of 1.96% rising as high as
4.96%.

“We
are convinced that we’re on the right path, that we’ve avoided a
crisis,” Finance Minister Nicolás Dujovne said at a press
conference in Buenos Aires. “This is aimed at building a normal
economy.”

Dujovne
said that about $15 billion from the credit line would be immediately
available to Argentina after the package is approved by the IMF’s
board, which is expected on June 20. The rest would be dispersed as
needed as Argentina meets its targets.

Shortly
after the news the loan was finalized, Dujovne made some additional,
more bizarre comments, saying that “the amount we received is 11
times Argentina’s quota, which reflects the international
community´s support of Argentina,” almost as if he was proud at
just how insolvent his country “suddenly” become. He was
certainly delighted that, in his view, Argentina is now “too big to
fail”, and received not only this loan as a result…

“It’s
very good news that the integration with the world allows us to
receive this support.”

… but
also hinted that the international community would also foot the bill
for all other upcoming Argentinian bailouts. And if the country’s
history is any indication, there will be plenty more, as well as the
occasional military coup for good measure.

According
to Bloomberg, Argentina will see 30% of the funds a day or two after
the Fund’s June 20 board meeting, and in typical IMF-bailout
fashion, a form of austerity will be imposed on what was once Latin
America’s richest nation: as part of the agreement, the country
will now target a fiscal deficit of 1.3% of GDP in 2019 and 2.7% this
year, with a fiscal balance targeted for 2020 (good luck). And since
the previous targets of 2.2% and 3.2%, were almost as laughable, this
latest IMFian austerity package not only has zero chance of ever
being achieved, but if Greece is any indication, it will make the
Argentina crisis far worse. The government has also set a new
inflation target of 17% in 2019 – It’s considered low –
declining to 13% in 2020 and 9% in 2021.

And
the biggest joke, as part of the program, Argentina will agree to
accelerate the pace at which it reduces the government deficit. The
nation spends more than it collects in revenue and imports more than
it exports, creating fiscal and current-account shortfalls that leave
Argentina vulnerable to fluctuations in its currency. But, thanks to
the even more idiotic policies of central banks, Argentina managed to
sell a 100 year bond last year, demonstrating just how stupid some
managers of “other people’s money” really are.

“This
is a plan owned and designed by the Argentine government, one aimed
at strengthening the economy for the benefit of all Argentines,”
IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde says in the statement which
can be found
on the IMF’s website.

To
take effect, the deal reached between the IMF’s staff and Argentine
authorities still requires the approval of the IMF’s executive
board.

Oh,
and thank you American taxpayers: the IMF’s largest shareholder,
the U.S., said in a statement Thursday from Treasury Secretary Steven
Mnuchin that it supported the program, according
to the WSJ.

“The
size of the package should provide relief, but implementing the
program entails significant challenges and will require skillful
political leadership,” said Martin Castellano, the head of Latin
America research at the Institute of International Finance (IFF).

Argentina
was bailed out by the IMF for the second time in 2 decades after
three rate hikes pushed borrowing costs above 40% but failed to halt
a plunge in the currency. The peso fell 25% against the dollar this
year to trade at 24.9850 on Thursday, while capital outflows soared.

Central
Bank President, Federico Sturzenegger, said the bank will continue to
intervene in currency markets in times of “disruptive movement”
although the central bank will not target inflation this year, he
said. Meanwhile, the government has agreed to send a bill that gives
the central bank more autonomy, and as a result it wil no longer
transfer funds to the Treasury.

“We’re
convinced that we’re on the right track, that we managed to avoid a
crisis, gather support for the program we already had and that has
been in place since Dec. 2015, which looks to build a normal economy,
reduce poverty and protect the vulnerable,” Dujovne said, echoing
what Greece said after its first bailout 8 years… and its second…
and its third.

Gerry
Rice, an IMF spokesman, speaking Thursday before the details of the
bailout were announced, told reporters that the IMF is “not seeing
negative spillovers to other countries at this point.”

Well,
he may want to take a look at Brazil.

IMF
admits mistakes in Argentina crisis

The
International Monetary Fund yesterday admitted that its mistakes
helped plunge Argentina deeper into the red during the currency
crisis that crippled the country’s economy three years ago.

In
a report published yesterday by its independent evaluation office,
the IMF
said it ought to have prevented the Argentine government from
following poor economic policies.

“IMF
surveillance failed to highlight the growing vulnerabilities in the
authorities’ choice of policies and the IMF erred by supporting
inadequate policies too long,” it said.

The
financial meltdown that reached a climax in 2001, causing the country
to default on $132 billion of foreign debt, was worsened by the
government’s vain attempts to maintain the Argentine peso’s peg
against the dollar. The
IMF ploughed money into the country to help it sustain the peg,
pledging an extra $22 billion as late as the end of 2000.

“In
retrospect, the resources used in an attempt to preserve the peg
could have been better used to mitigate some of the inevitable costs
of exit,” the report said.

Although
it became clear to some IMF staff that the country’s currency plan
was flawed in the 1990s, they did not report their doubts to their
board for fear of triggering a speculative attack on the peso. The
executive board, for its part, ignored staff complaints that
Argentina was not reforming its economy satisfactorily.

Both
the IMF and the US touted the country as Latin America’s economic
success story but the fund maintained its support despite the fact
that Argentina missed its fiscal targets every year since 1994.
Analysts have also claimed that the IMF’s demands that Argentina
raise taxes in 2002 worsened the crisis. The conclusions will come as
a blow to the institution, whose role has come under increased
scrutiny in recent years.

Yesterday
the Argentine finance minister, Roberto Lavagna, argued that the
country should not be pressed too hard for repayments of its current
three-year $13 billion loan. He said the IMF was now insisting it
reformed its economy “in a way absent throughout the 90s” and
“under a schedule that is oblivious to the political realities of
the country”.

Good

Dank je wel PvdA plork Dijsselbloem, de Europese Commissie, de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) en het IMF, dank namens drie miljoen Grieken, die te arm zijn om een ziektekostenverzekering te betalen en daarom kunnen wegrotten als ze een gevaarlijke aandoening onder de leden krijgen of hebben…..

Dit betekent dat bijna één derde van de Griekse bevolking de ziektekostenverzekering niet kan betalen…… Het is werkelijk om je oren van je kop te schamen: hoe hebben schoften als Dijsselbloem het zover kunnen laten komen……

Alles vanwege wangedrag van banken aan onze kant in de EU en de opvolgende corrupte regeringen van Griekenland, met wie de bestuurders in Brussel voorafgaand aan de bankencrisis goede relaties onderhielden……. Die relaties waren zeker uitstekend als ze lid waren van dezelfde fractie in het EU parlement, zoals de relaties binnen de EVP waaraan ook het CDA is verbonden, of de zogenaamde socialisten waar de PvdA aan verbonden is….. Dezelfde bankencrisis die het begin van het einde inluidde voor veel Grieken……..

Niet de banken werden gestraft, noch de corrupte Griekse politici, noch de toezichthouders van de Noordwest-Europese centrale banken (en die van de EU, de eerder genoemde ECB) nee het Griekse volk mocht bloeden voor ongelofelijk wanbeheer……

Overigens was het al vrij snel duidelijk, nadat de Grieken werden gesmoord door de ECB, de Europese Commissie en het IMF, dat veel Grieken de duurdere medicatie zoals die voor kanker niet meer konden betalen………..

Onder de drie miljoen Grieken, die zich geen ziektekostenverzekering kunnen permitteren natuurlijk veel ouden van dagen, chronisch zieken, maar ook gezinnen en zelfs een aantal mensen die wel werk hebben, maar te weinig verdienen om deze verzekering te betalen…..

De werkloosheid in Griekenland staat nog steeds boven de 20% en gemeten onder jongeren (van wie er veel het land zijn ‘ontvlucht’) is dit percentage nog veel hoger……

Schoftentuig als Dijsselbloem, CDA’er Wellink (destijds directeur van De Nederlandse Bank) en andere hoofdrolspelers in deze zaak zouden strafrechtelijk vervolgd moeten worden, men kan hen immers zelfs moord ten laste leggen, daar ze hun werk niet (zoals Wellink) dan wel volkomen misdadig uitvoerden (zoals Dijsselbloem) en weloverwogen mensen in diepe armoede hebben gestort……. Daarbij weigert dit geteisem de schuld van de Grieken kwijt te schelden (terwijl men de op de pof aan Griekenland lenende banken met honderden miljarden, ook van ons betaalde belastinggeld, heeft gered…….)…. Door die weigering komt Griekenland niet eens aan het aflossen van de schuld toe en moet het keer op keer alles bij elkaar schrapen om de rentebetalingen te kunnen voldoen, waarbij het land al veel staatsbezit (als havens en vliegvelden) is kwijtgeraakt en dat voor belachelijk lage verkoopprijzen……. Sterker nog: Griekenland is voor 99 jaar de zeggenschap kwijt over haar staatseigendommen, een EU organisatie kan deze naar goeddunken verkopen (voor een appel en een ei….)….

De EU? NEXIT NU!!

De
bliksem is de Saoedische ‘minister’ van buitenlandse zaken (bij de gratie van MBS*), Adel al-Jabeir in de maffe bol geslagen. De
idioot stelde dat Qatar de kosten moet dragen voor de illegale
aanwezigheid van de VS in Syrië, daarnaast moet Qatar zelf troepen
sturen naar Syrië……. Aan welke kant die troepen dan moeten
vechten maakte al-Jabeir niet bekend, immers Saoedi-Arabië betaalt behalve IS, alle terreurgroepen in Syrië en heeft dat zelfs een tijdlang voor IS
gedaan…. Bovendien heeft S-A (zoals de VS) deze terreurgroepen van wapens en
voertuigen voorzien……

Al-Jabeir
liet weten dat wanneer Qatar dit niet doet, de VS Qatar niet langer
zal steunen en het land binnen een week zal vallen (door een inval
van Saoedi-Arabië……)…..

Professor Madawi al-Rasheed stelde terecht de vraag welke Golfstaat niet wordt beschermd door de VS, of welke Golfstaat niet wordt bewapend door de VS, of welke Golfstaat niet door de VS wordt geleid, of die niet is leeggeroofd door de VS??

Dan nog:
hoe durft deze losgeslagen al-Jabeir internationaal nog iets op te
merken, als je ziet dat Saoedi-Arabië zoals gezegd terreurgroepen financiert en
godbetert een genocide uitvoert in buurland Jemen???

Nieuw voor mij is de wil van de Trump administratie om een Arabisch leger op poten te zetten met de legers van Saoedi-Arabië en die van de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), dit om de illegale taken van de VS over te nemen en stabiliteit te brengen in van IS bevrijdde gebieden……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Alsof je een stel psychopathische moordenaars de verantwoording over de politie geeft……

Wanneer
wordt Saoedi-Arabië eindelijk voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC)
gesleept? Dit land moet intussen verantwoordelijk zijn voor alleen in
Jemen al meer dan 20.000 doden, dit door de hongersnood, cholera en
difterie uitbraak, allen één op één te danken aan de blokkade van S-A

Qatar
Should Pay for US Troops in Syria or Risk Downfall: Saudi Minister

(MEE) — The
US government will stop protecting Qatar if the country doesn’t
fund the American military venture in Syria, Saudi Arabia’s foreign
minister warned on
Tuesday.

“Qatar
has to pay for the US military’s presence in Syria and send its
military forces there before the US president cancels the American
protection of Qatar, which has an American military base on its
grounds,” Adel al-Jubeir said in a statement.

Without
American protection – or more specifically Al-Udeid, a key US
military base in Qatar which hosts 10,000 troops – Al-Jubeir said
Doha’s government “would fall in less than a week”.

The
foreign minister’s comments come a week after Saudi Arabia said it
would be willing to deploy troops to Syria as part of US-led efforts
to stabilise the country.

The
Trump administration has said it is seeking to assemble an Arab
force, including Saudi Arabia and

the
United Arab Emirates, to replace US troops and pay for the
stabilisation and reconstruction of areas captured from the Islamic
State militant group.

But
analysts said Jubeir’s recommendation was politically motivated and

Christopher
Davidson, a reader in Middle East politics at Durham University, said
that the Saudi foreign minister was “trying to throw the hot potato
onto Doha’s lap”.

“Saudi
Arabia and Qatar are both grappling with having to survive a new
and more adept US administration that is keen to extract greater
concessions from its ‘Gulf allies’ in return for continuing
protection and international diplomatic support,” he said.

Neither
Saudi Arabia nor Qatar want to be involved in Syria “as it would
likely involve not only direct confrontation with
Damascus-Tehran-Moscow axis forces, but also entanglement with some
of the same extremist groups they themselves, or at least many of
their wealthy private citizens, have recently funded and weaponised,”
Davidson added.

Saudi
Arabia and Qatar have been at loggerheads for years, but particularly
since last June when the kingdom, along with the United Arab
Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, cut diplomatic and trade ties with Doha,
accusing the country of supporting terrorism. Qatar has denied those
claims.

The
emirate’s only land border was closed and all flights were banned
to and from the country.

As
a result of the blockade, foreign financing and resident private
sector deposits reportedly fell by $40bn, but that was offset by cash
injections from the central bank and Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund,
according to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report released in
March.

The
IMF said the blockade’s impact was “transitory” because new
trade routes were quickly established and growth remained positive.

Madawi
added: “Regardless [of the blockade], I think this is a trap for
Qatar. Saudi Arabia and its allies have accused Qatar of terrorism,
so under what mandate would Qatari troops go into Syria? And which
side would they be on? The side of the rebels or of the regime?”

Er was en is maar weinig aandacht in Nederland en de rest van het westen voor het schertsproces dat Lula da Silva, de bij de arme bevolking en een deel van de middenklasse van Brazilië immens populaire ex-president, 12 jaar gevangenisstraf ‘opleverde’.

De huidige uiterst corrupte regering van Brazilië had er dan ook alle baat bij dat Lula zou worden opgesloten, terwijl de huidige president Temer ronduit een misdadiger is, die al zoveel op z’n geweten heeft dat hij de rest van z’n leven opgesloten zou moeten worden, bewijzen te over….. Met dank aan de CIA die de Braziliaanse (militaire) touwen stevig in handen heeft en natuurlijk met de onvoorwaardelijke steun van de Wereldbank en het IMF……..

Lula zou de komende presidentsverkiezingen zonder meer hebben gewonnen, gezien de peilingen en zo voorspellen ook een aantal deskundigen……. Tja, daar kunnen de VS, de Wereldbank, het IMF en de oligarchie in Brazilië niet mee leven……

Het kan je gisteren niet ontgaan zijn, de enorme rel nadat een stel autocratische neoliberalen aan de top van ING besloten om de topgraaier bij die bank, Hamers, een loonsverhoging van 50% te geven…….

Op BNR liet men gistermorgen al weten dat van der Veer, voorzitter van de raad van commissarissen bij de ING, had gemeld dat hij deze loonsverhoging heel normaal vindt en dat andere medewerkers er tenslotte ook 1,7 procent op het ‘zeer royale salaris’ bij krijgen…… Ach ja, je leeft in je eigen gouden wereld, natuurlijk kan je dan geen rekening met het plebs houden……..

Gistermiddag hoorde ik van der Veer in het Radio1 journaal, daar ging deze ploert, die eerst heel ‘duurzaam’ met Shell de wereld verder naar de kloten heeft geholpen, helemaal los. ‘We hebben een goed team en een goed plan nodig’, aldus van der Veer……. Daarnaast stelde de plork dat we de belangen van ING in het buitenland goed moeten kunnen behartigen (met uitbreiding van activiteiten, waren wat uitspraken van van der Veer, of kwamen daar één op één op neer…)…

Of van der Veer niet bang was dat bij een volgende crisis ING weer gered moet worden door de belastingbetaler. Dat dacht van der Veer niet, maar zeg nooit nooit zo liet deze grofgraaiende oplichter weten, een oplichter die dondersgoed begrijpt dat een buffer van 3, 4 of zelfs 5% veel te weinig is om een kredietcrisis de kop te bieden….. Nee, van der Veers woordenboek bevat niet het woord ‘bankencrisis..’ Overigens maakte van der Veer een geweldige vergissing, i.p.v. kredietcrisis sprak hij over een staatscrisis…….

Inderdaad de kredietcrisis, of beter gezegd bankencrisis had tot een staatscrisis moeten leiden, dan had men wel degelijk banken en andere onderdelen van de financiële maffia failliet kunnen laten gaan, i.p.v. het geteisem rustig door laten gaan, hetzelfde geteisem dat de vorige grofgraaier van ING een dikke bonus wilde geven in 2010….. De tegoeden van rekeninghouders redden was heel wat goedkoper geweest dan de banken van een enorme zak belastinggeld te voorzien,…. Bovendien hadden we dan weer een echt onafhankelijke staatsbank gehad, waar de belangen van de gewone klanten voorgaan op alles…

Dan nog de verdere uitbreiding in het buitenland, één van de redenen waarom de grote Nederlandse banken in de problemen kwamen en gered moesten worden, immers de banken waren te groot om nog failliet te laten gaan (dat had wel gekund, maar men hield ons voor dat deze banken ‘too big to fail….’ waren….).

Intussen helpen de banken en andere hypotheekverstrekkers weer vrolijk mee aan het in stand houden van de huizenbubbel, waarmee ons land de enorme schuld heeft opgebouwd van meer dan 700 miljard euro……. Een schuld waarvoor het IMF en de Wereldbank ons al meermaals hebben gewaarschuwd, daar deze schuld te groot is voor een land als Nederland…..

Van der Veer had het gore lef te stellen dat deze loonsverhoging voor Hamers geen compensatie was voor de beperkte bonus die nog gegeven mag worden (maximaal één jaarsalaris), waarmee Hamers straks zelfs met 6 miljoen maar huis mag gaan (of één van z’n huizen), daar zijn inkomen na de loonsverhoging op 3 miljoen per jaar komt……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Als figuren als van der Veer wat macht en geld hebben verzameld, denken ze werkelijk alles met een stalen gezicht te kunnen zeggen, zelfs liegen of het gedrukt staat………

Tot slot durfde van der Veer het inkomen van Hamers te vergelijken met dat van de zwaar overbetaalde voetballers, waarbij hij de naam Messi noemde, alsof het ene misdadig hoge salaris een legitimering is voor een ander schandalig hoog inkomen……

De hoogste tijd dat de bankensector wordt gestraft en dat we ons IBAN rekeningnummer, NB bedoelt ‘voor de rest van ons leven’, mee mogen nemen naar een andere bank….. Zo kunnen de gewone klanten een bank voor dit soort fratsen straffen. De bankenlobby bij en in de politiek hebben het voor elkaar gekregen dat de naam van de bank in dit IBAN nummer zit, zodat het voor de klanten onmogelijk is gemaakt (godbetert) hun eigen rekeningnummer mee te kunnen nemen……. Een grof schandaal en een landelijk en internationaal strafrechtelijk onderzoek meer dan waard!

Jezus wat een schoftentuig!!

Oh ja, vanmorgen had Standpunt NL de stelling: ‘De ophef over het salaris van ING topman Hamers is overdreven…’ Ja normaal toch een salarisverhoging van 50% terwijl de gewone werknemers het met 1,7% moeten doen…. Reken maar dat de top onder Hamers ook heel wat meer loonsverhoging krijgt dan die 1,7 %……

Griekse samenwerking met Israël………

Nadat de enorme oplichter Tsipras en het overgrote deel in de top van zijn Syriza partij toegaf aan de eisen van de ‘trojka’, bestaande uit de Europese Commissie, de ECB* en het IMF en daarmee zijn land heeft verraden, werd Griekenland in feite onder curatele gesteld van de EU…… Griekse staatseigendommen staan voor 99 jaar onder het beheer van het Europees Stabiliteitsmechanisme (ESM), een niet democratisch gekozen EU orgaan dat naar goeddunken deze staatseigendommen kan verkopen……

Verkopen uit een failliete boedel leveren geen drol op, ook in dit geval, zo werden de havens en regionale vliegvelden voor een appel en ei verkocht aan buitenlandse investeerders…… De vliegvelden zijn voor een groot deel in handen van een Duitse miljardair en het Griekse telecom bedrijf is nu voor een groot deel in handen van Deutsche Telekom………

Volgens C.J. Polychroniou, een deskundige op politiek economisch gebied, ontbreekt er voor het ESM kantoor in Athene alleen nog een bord met ‘Te Koop Griekenland………’

Uit het volgende artikel van CounterPunch blijkt dat Griekenland toenadering heeft gezocht tot Israël…….. Blijkbaar is niets verrader en ‘socialist’ (ha! ha!) Tsipras heilig en gaat het hem en zijn ‘extreem linkse partij’ alleen nog om de macht, als hij daarvoor z’n moeder zou moeten verkopen, had hij dit al gedaan…… Op militair gebied gaan de beide landen samenwerken en er is zelfs al getraind met het Israëlische leger, waar meer trainingen gepland staan…….

Dit terwijl Syriza voorheen altijd kritisch was op Israël en partij koos voor de zwaar onderdrukte Palestijnse bevolking…….

Eén van de redenen voor de toenadering tussen de twee landen zijn de gasvelden voor de kust van de Gazastrook en Israël. Men wil een pijpleiding aanleggen van Israël richting Griekenland (prettige wedstrijd met alle aardbevingen…), voor export naar de rest van de EU. Zelfs een groot deel van de Griekse reguliere media hebben zich achter de samenwerking met Israël geschaard……. ‘Onafhankelijke journalistiek….’ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Intussen zijn de Grieken door PvdA opperhufter Dijsselbloem voor een groot deel aan de bedelstaf geraakt en zijn er zelfs kankerpatiënten die geen chemotherapie kunnen betalen en het maar moeten uitzoeken…… Situaties die bekend zijn uit de VS, waar je als je geen geld hebt, bent overgeleverd aan de hulp van kerkelijke organisaties of NGO’s, die deze mensen proberen te helpen…….

Niet vreemd dus dat de neonazi’s van de Gouden Dageraad steeds meer aanhang verwerven, zeker nadat de eerder als uiterst links bekend staande Syriza het gewone volk heeft verkocht aan de EU en het IMF……

Je kan dan ook gerust stellen, dat Griekenland een proeftuin is voor de rest van de toekomstige EU: geen soevereiniteit meer en doen wat de EU of haar vele ondemocratische organen je opdragen….. Reken maar niet dat er veel verzet is binnen de EU tegen de innige samenwerking van Griekenland met de zionistische (ofwel: fascistische) apartheidsstaat Israël, al zeker niet tegen de import van gas uit dit van de Palestijnen gestolen land……..

Foreign
Policy for Sale: Greece’s Dangerous Alliance with Israel

For
a brief historical moment, Alexis Tsipras and his political party,
Syriza, ignited hope that Greece could resurrect a long-dormant
Leftist tide in Europe.

A
new Greece was being born out of the pangs of pain of economic
austerity, imposed by the European Union and its overpowering
economic institutions – a troika so ruthless, it cared little while
the Greek economy collapsed and millions of people experienced the
bitterness of poverty, unemployment and despair.

The
Coalition of the Radical Left (Syriza) came to power in January 2015
as a direct outcome of popular discontent with the EU. It was a time
where ordinary people took a stance to fend for whatever semblance of
sovereignty that was not wrestled away from them by politicians,
bankers and powerful bureaucratic institutions.

The
result, however, was quite disappointing. Tsipras, now a Prime
Minister, transformed his political discourse, and gradually adopted
one that that is more consistent with the very neoliberal policies
that pushed his country to its knees in the first place.

Syriza
sold out, not only politically and ideologically, but in an actual
physical sense as well.

In
exchange for bailout loans that Greece received from European banks
within the period 2010 to 2015 (estimated at $262 billion), the
country is being dismembered. Greece’s regional airports are now
operated by German companies and the country’s main
telecommunication firm has been privatized, with sizable shares of it
owned by Deutsche Telekom.

“The
only thing missing outside the office of Greece’s privatization
agency is a sign that reads: ‘A Nation for Sale’,” wrote Greek
political economist, C. J. Polychroniou.

Unsurprisingly,
economic subservience is often a prelude to political bondage as
well. Not only did Syriza betray the aspirations of the Greek people
who voted against austerity and bailouts, it also betrayed the
country’s long legacy of maintaining amicable relationships with
its neighbors.

Since
his arrival at the helm of Greek politics, Tsipras has moved his
country further into the Israeli camp, forging unwise regional
alliances aimed at exploiting new gas finds in the Mediterranean and
participating in multiple Israeli-led military drills.

While
Israel sees an opportunity to advance its political agenda in
Greece’s economic woes, the Greek government is playing along
without fully assessing the possible repercussions of engaging with a
country that is regionally viewed as a pariah, while internationally
becoming condemned for its military occupation and terrible human
rights record.

Israel
moved to pull Athens into its own camp in 2010, shortly after the
Turkish-Israeli spat over the ‘Mavi Marmara’ attack ensued.
Israeli commandos attacked the Turkish Gaza-bound boat, killing nine
Turkish nationals and injuring many more.

Although
Turkey and Israel have, since then, reached a diplomatic
understanding, Tel Aviv has moved forward to create alternative
allies among Balkan countries, exploiting historical conflicts
between some of these countries and Turkey.

Bilateral
agreements were signed, high diplomatic visits exchanged and military
exercises conducted in the name of deterring ‘international Jihad’
and fighting terrorism.

Greece
and Cyprus received greater Israeli attention since they, on the one
hand, were seen as political counterweight to Turkey and, on the
other, because of the great economic potential that they offered.

Just
one month after the ‘Mavi Marmara’ attack, the then Greek Prime
Minister, George Papandrous, visited Israel, followed by an official
visit by Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to Greece –
the first of its kind. That was the start of a love-affair that is
growing deeper.

The
main motivation behind the closeness in relations is the Leviathan
and Tamar gas fields, located in the territorial waters of several
countries, including Lebanon. If Israel continues with its plans to
extract gas from an energy source located off the coast of Lebanon,
it will increase the chances of yet another regional war.

When
Tsipras came to power on the shoulders of a populous political
movement, Palestinians too hoped that he would be different.

It
was not exactly wishful thinking, either. Syriza was openly critical
of Israel and had “vowed to cut military ties with Israel upon
coming to office,” wrote Patrick Strickland, reporting from Athens.
Instead the “ties have, nonetheless, been deepened.”

Indeed,
soon after taking power, the ‘radical left’-led Greek government
signed a major military agreement with Israel, the ‘status of
forces’ accord, followed by yet more military exercises.

All
of this was reinforced by a propaganda campaign in Israel hailing the
new alliance, coupled with a changing narrative in Greek media
regarding Israel and Palestine.

One
George N. Tzogopoulos has been particularity buoyant about the
Israel-Greek friendship. Writing a series of articles in various
media, including the rightwing Israeli newspaper, the Jerusalem Post,
Tzogopoulos suggests that, unlike the older generation of Greeks who
have sided with Palestinians in the past, the young generation is
likely to be pro-Israel.

“This
process (of converting Greeks to loving Israel) will take time, of
course, because it is principally related to school education,” he
wrote in Algemeiner. “But the change in coverage of Israel by Greek
journalists is a good omen.”

That
‘change of coverage’ was also notable in the recent official
visit by Israeli President, Reuven Rivlin, and his meeting with
Tsipras and other Greek officials.

In
the meetings, Rivlin complained of Palestinian obstinacy and refusal
to return to the ‘peace process’, thus causing a ‘serious
crisis.’

The
‘radical left’ leader said little to challenge Rivlin’s
falsehoods.

Greece
was not always this way, of course. Who could forget Andreas
Papandreou, the late Greek leader who gave the Palestine Liberation
Organization (PLO) diplomatic status in 1981, and stood by
Palestinians despite American and Israeli threats?

It
is that generation that Tzogopoulos and his likes would like to be
gone forever, and replaced by morally-flexible leaders like Tsipras.

However,
signing off to join an Israel-led economic and military alliance in
an area replete with conflict, is a terribly irresponsible move, even
for politically inexperienced and opportunistic politicians.

For
Greece to be the “strong arm of imperialism in the region” – as
described by the leader of the Socialist Workers Revolutionary Party
in Greece – is “completely stupid” as it will, in the long run,
bring “catastrophic results for (the) Greek people.”

But
Tsipras seems incapable of looking that far ahead.

Novartis kocht Griekse politici en artsen om………

BBC World Service kwam gisteren met het bericht dat Novartis via een smerige omkooptruc de Griekse bevolking voor meer dan 50 miljoen euro heeft opgelicht…….. Artsen, ministers en zelfs 2 premiers lieten zich fêteren door de farmaceutisch misdaadorganisatie Novartis…….

De minister van Volksgezondheid ontving in de periode 2006 – 2009 maar liefst 40 miljoen euro van Novartis, dit voor de orders van een groot aantal vaccins, waaronder natuurlijk een groot aantal niet werkende griepvaccins……. Het gaat in dit geval om een minister van Nea Dimokratia, dat deel uitmaakt van de EVP, dezelfde EU partij waarvan het CDA deelnemer is…….

Opvallend dat de BBC op haar website met geen woord spreekt over die minister van volksgezondheid, terwijl deze het grootste deel van de 50 miljoen euro ontving, nee de BBC noemt met name 2 politici, die werkten van 2012 tot 2015, dit in een regering die werd en wordt verfoeid door de conservatieven in GB….. ‘Logisch ook’, daar ook die Conservatieve (of Tory) partij deel uitmaakt van Nea Dimokratia in het EU parlement, en als je zoals de BBC afhankelijk bent van subsidie, ga je de partij die deze subsidie toekent niet in een kwaad daglicht stellen…… Zeker niet als iedereen om het hardst gilt dat de Brexit een grote fout is en dit diezelfde Conservatieve partij tot op het bot verdeelt…..

Terug naar Griekenland dat door de EU en het IMF, met een grote rol van de inhumane PvdA schoft Dijsselbloem, volkomen is uitgeknepen, nadat de banken en financiële instellingen uit ons deel van de EU het land geld op de pof leenden, geld voor de opvolgende corrupte Griekse regeringen, waar een kind had kunnen weten dat dit geld niet terug zou komen……

Zelfs de Nederlandse Bank onder CDA kakzever Wellink ondernam geen stappen tegen de banken en andere financiële instellingen die dit hebben gedaan…… In plaats van die banken te straffen, werd en wordt de Griekse bevolking uitgeknepen, terwijl de verantwoordelijken een veilige buitenlandse bankrekening hebben…… De schulden van de banken werden overgenomen door de EU, ofwel de belastingbetalers van de EU lidstaten, zoals wij in Nederland……. Dezelfde Dijsselbloem vindt het overigens prima dat grote Griekse bedrijven in ons land de Griekse belastingen ontduiken…..

Dit terwijl een groot aantal Griekse kankerpatiënten zelfs niet aan medicatie kunnen komen, daar ze deze niet kunnen betalen, althans als die medicijnen al te krijgen zijn in Griekenland……

Dezelfde media die keer op keer volhouden dat Rusland de VS
presidentsverkiezingen, het Brexit-referendum, het
onafhankelijkheidsreferendum van Catalonië enz. hebben
gemanipuleerd, zonder daar ook maar één steekhoudend bewijs voor te
leveren.

Voor die
zogenaamde Russische bemoeienis wordt ook het beest Trump als
mededader genoemd, terwijl we telkens weer zien, dat Trump
allesbehalve een pro-Russische beleid voert, iets dat Shahtahmasebi
in het volgende artikel uit en te na bewijst.

door de VS georganiseerde opstand in Oekraïne, die tot de
succesvolle staatsgreep tegen de democratisch gekozen president
Janoekovytsj moest leiden en leidde, waarna de VS een door haar

tussen Nuland (staatssecretaris BuZa onder Obama) en Pyatt, destijds
ambassadeur voor de VS in Oekraïne ….. Overigens was de VS al
vanaf 2011 bezig met de voorbereidingen tot die opstand, onder
eindverantwoording van Hillary Clinton (en Obama), de toenmalige minister van
Buitenlandse Zaken. Deze coup en de voorbereidingen heeft de VS meer

VS levert zware wapens aan Oekraïne, waarmee de VS de
‘burgeroorlog’ in Oekraïne verder aanwakkert en Rusland voor het
blok zet…. Immers de burgers in Oost-Oekraïne, die niet wensen te
leven onder de neonazi-dictatuur van Porosjenko, worden al een paar
jaar gebombardeerd door de neonazi-bataljons van Porosjenko. Rusland
zou vechten in Oekraïne, een belachelijke weergave van de
werkelijkheid >> wanneer dit een feit zou zijn, waren deze
neonazi-bataljons al lang het gebied uit gewerkt. Met deze nieuwe VS
wapens wordt het steeds moeilijker voor Rusland niet de burgers in
Oost-Oekraïne te hulp te schieten met militaire hulp……..

door de VS ondersteunen van neonazi’s in Oekraïne. Voordat
Porosjenko door de VS werd geparachuteerd als ‘president’ van
Oekraïne, werkte hij al voor BuZa in Washington, hij werd in de VS
zelfs ‘onze mol’ in Oekraïne genoemd….. Dit alles terwijl de VS
zogenaamd opkomt voor democratie, waar dit ‘land’ bij herhaling
democratisch gekozen regeringen aan de kant laat zetten en het
liefst laat vervangen door fascisten…. Naast Oekraïne: Chili in 1973
en Honduras in 2009, verder een reeks Midden- en Zuid-Amerikaanse
landen voor en na 1973, waar de VS uiteraard dikke steun
verleende aan deze fascistische mensenrechten schendende junta’s……. Voorts nog de staatsgrepen tegen: Syrië (een mislukte poging),
Brazilië (de staatsgreep tegen president Dilma Rousseff), Libië en
Iran (waar de staatsgrepen tegen de Braziliaanse president Rousseff
en president Assad van Syrië, alweer gericht waren tegen democratisch
gekozen regeringen…….). Om te besluiten met Venezuela waartegen de VS al een aantal jaren een economische oorlog voert en gewelddadige groepen steunt, dit met de opzet president Maduro af te zetten…..
De
uitbreiding van de NAVO, tegen de afspraken in, die in 1991 met
Gorbatsjov werden gemaakt….. Het niet uitbreiden van de NAVO was zelfs de eis van Gorbatsjov, voor het akkoord gaan met de hereniging van Oost- en
West-Duitsland……..

The
Russia-obsessed corporate media continues to peddle the narrative
that Donald Trump has turned the United States into a client-state of
Russia, even while he directly provokes the former Soviet Union by
providing Russia’s foe — Urkaine — with the largest lethal
assistance to a country on its border.

(MPN) — Despite
the mainstream media’s insistence that
U.S. President Donald Trump is some sort of compromised Russian
lackey, the fact is that at the end of last year, his administration
approved the
largest U.S. commercial sale of lethal defensive weapons to Ukraine
since 2014. This is a move that clearly infuriates
and angers Russia,
souring relations between the two countries even more so than
they already
had been under
the Obama administration (and in various
stages throughout
Trump’s first year in office).

According to The
Washington Post,
administration officials confirmed that in December the State
Department had approved a commercial license authorizing the export
of Model M107A1 Sniper Systems, ammunition, and other associated
parts and accessories to Ukraine — a package valued at $41.5
million.

At
first, it was reported there had not yet been approval to export the
heavier weaponry the Ukrainian government had been asking for, such
as anti-tank missiles. However, by the end of

December, reports began
surfacing that the Trump administration was in fact going to
provide 35 FGM-148 Javelin launchers and 210 anti-tank missiles.
The Javelin is allegedly one of the most advanced anti-tank systems
on the market. The total package is now valued at $47 million, and it
wouldn’t be surprising if this figure continues to rise in the
weeks to come.

Even
under the 2014
Ukraine Freedom Support Act,
the Obama administration never authorized large commercial or
government arms sales, thereby making the recent announcement the
first time that the U.S. will provide “lethal” weapons to the
Ukraine military.

One
senior congressional official said that he predicted this would be
just the beginning, stating that the U.S. had “crossed
the Rubicon; this is lethal weapons and I predict more will be
coming,” according
to the Post. Foreign
Policy’s Michael
Carpenter suggested that
NATO countries should follow suit and also provide Ukraine with the
arms it needs to counter the so-called threat of Russia. Considering
that in September 2017 Russia proposed that UN peacekeepers
be deployed to
Ukraine, it should be clear that the U.S. is more bent on escalating
this conflict than on resolving it.

Russia
has already responded in
kind, with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stating that the
U.S. has become an accomplice in the war and that these developments
make it impossible for Russia to remain “indifferent,” thereby
forcing Russia to consider retaliation measures in response.

The
U.S. is the world’s
largest arms dealer.
The U.S. arms so many countries so much of the time that most of us
barely blink. And yet, even taking at face value America’s stated
goals of spreading democracy and promoting human rights, the facts on
the ground appear to run contrary to those ideals and the U.S. is
well aware of these contradictions.

In
reality, the United States intervened covertly in Ukraine in 2014
because Russia and Europe were growing
far too close to each other for America’s comfort,
with Russia supplying at least 30 percent of Europe’s gas supply.
This was an issue particularly in relation to Germany’s
growing fondness for Russian gas,
as Germany is set to become
the EU’s major player.

This
is a deal-breaker for Washington, which would rather support known
neo-Nazis and
anti-Semites in order to install a right-wing government capable of
opposing Russia as close to the Russian border as one can get.

U.S.

On
February 7, 2014, the BBC published a transcript of
a bugged phone conversation between Assistant Secretary of State
Victoria Nuland and the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt.
In this phone call, the U.S. officials were openly discussing who
should form Ukraine’s government even before the president, Viktor
Yanukovych, had been successfully ousted
from power.
In other words, the U.S. was actively doing to Russia’s neighbour
what the corporate media and various elements of the intelligence
communities have accused Russia of doing to the U.S. during the 2016
elections. As The
Nation explained:

“In
the intercepted phone call between U.S. Assistant Secretary of State
for European Affairs Victoria Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine
Geoffrey Pyatt, the two were, as Russian expert Stephen
Cohen put
it to Democracy Now, ‘plotting
a coup d’état against the elected president of
Ukraine.’” [emphasis
added]

“Good.
I don’t think Klitsch [opposition leader Vitaly Klitschko] should
go into the government. I don’t think it’s necessary, I don’t
think it’s a good idea,” Nuland said in the call, as
transcribed by the BBC.

Pyatt
responded:

“Yeah.
I guess… in terms of him not going into the government, just let
him stay out and do his political homework and stuff. I’m just
thinking in terms of sort of the process moving ahead we want to keep
the moderate democrats together. The problem is going to be Tyahnybok
[Oleh Tyahnybok, an opposition leader] and his guys and I’m sure
that’s part of what [President Viktor] Yanukovych is calculating on
all this.”

Nuland
added:

“I
think Yats [opposition leader Arseniy Yatseniuk] is the guy who’s
got the economic experience, the governing experience. He’s the…
what he needs is Klitsch and Tyahnybok on the outside. He needs to be
talking to them four times a week, you know. I just think Klitsch
going in… he’s going to be at that level working for Yatseniuk,
it’s just not going to work.”

Oleh
Tyahnybok, who had met with Senator John McCain one
year prior,
is the leader of the right-wing nationalist party Svoboda. When
Svoboda was founded in 1995, the party had a
swastika-like logo. As Business
Insider explains,
Tyahnybok is also a known anti-Semite:

“Tyahnybok
himself was expelled from the Our Ukraine parliamentary faction in
2004 after giving a speech demanding
that Ukrainians fight against a ‘Muscovite-Jewish
mafia’ (he later clarified this
by saying that he actually had Jewish friends and
was only against to ‘a group of Jewish oligarchs who control
Ukraine and against Jewish-Bolsheviks [in the past]’). In 2005 he
wrote open letters demanding Ukraine do more to halt ‘criminal
activities’ of ‘organized Jewry,’ and, even now, Svoboda openly
calls for Ukrainian citizens to have their ethnicity printed onto
their passports.”

When
the protests broke out in Ukraine in 2014, the entire movement was
hijacked by these racist elements.

“You’d
never know from most of the reporting that far-right nationalists and
fascists have been at the heart of the protests and attacks on
government buildings,” reported Seumas Milne of The
Guardian. Just
days ago, thousands
marched in
Kiev to celebrate the anniversary of far-right nationalist Stepan
Bandera’s birthday.

It
is revealing that, when the U.S. decided to make a choice between a
president they viewed as a Russian ally and the various ultra-right
nationalist elements of Ukraine, Washington decided to help oust the
former for the benefit of the latter.

The
State Department Promoting Neo-Nazism in Ukraine

Eventually,
it was reported that a man named Petro Poroshenko would be taking up
the reins after Yanukovych’s abdication. According to a
cable obtained by
WikiLeaks, Poroshenko previously worked as a mole for the U.S. State
Department. The State Department even referred to Poroshenko as “our
Ukrainian insider.”

For
those who truly believe the U.S. protects and promotes democracy
while challenging tyranny and dictatorships across the globe, the
truth about Washington’s support for puppet regimes that fail to
garner the support of their own people is even worse than
any anti-imperialist
commentator could
ever have imagined. In March last year, Foreign
Affairs reported
that Poroshenko had
an approval rating as low as 17
percent.
In September last year, the Japan
Times reported that
his approval rating had dropped to a single
digit.
Some reportssay
it was as low as 2
percent.
October last year saw his approval rating grow to its highest in
recent times, reaching a
stratospheric 14
percent.

In
other words, the Trump administration is actively propping up a
failed administration in Europe, which does not have the support of
15 percent of its people. Even the far-right militias in Ukraine seem
to have more support than
the current government. Meanwhile, the U.S. has done nothing but its
utmost to tear apart the respective democratically elected
governments in Syria and Iran, both
of which have
far greater
approval ratings than
do Poroshenko and his administration.

Russian
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Washington’s
recent decision to arm Ukraine will only make the conflict more
deadly and suggested that Russia could be forced to respond. “[The
U.S. is] not a mediator. It’s an accomplice in fueling the war,”
Ryabkov said in a statement. Clearly, Russia has a vested interest in
not seeing another NATO ally on its borders, capable of pointing
American missiles in its face on a daily basis.

As The
National Interest learned at
the end of last year from recently declassified
material, the
U.S. did indeed break a promise at the end of the Cold War that NATO
would expand “not one inch eastward.” George Washington
University National Security Archives researchers Svetlana
Savranskaya and Tom Blanton wrote
in the National
Security Archives:

“The
[recently declassified] documents show that multiple national leaders
were considering and rejecting Central and Eastern European
membership in NATO as of early 1990 and through 1991. That
discussions of NATO in the context of German unification negotiations
in 1990 were not at all narrowly limited to the status of East German
territory, and that subsequent Soviet and Russian complaints about
being misled about NATO expansion, were founded in written
contemporaneous memcons and telcons at the highest levels.”

The
documents appear to confirm Russia’s assertion that Soviet leader
Mikhail Gorbachev accepted the proposal for German reunification
(which Gorbachev could have vetoed) only in reliance upon these
assurances from its American counterparts that NATO would not expand
into Eastern Europe. This history is reminiscent of how Russia was
further duped out of using its veto power on a U.N. Security Council
Resolution in Libya in 2011, after having received
assurances that
the coalition would not pursue regime change.

“I
believe that your thoughts about the role of NATO in the current
situation are the result of misunderstanding,” then-British Prime
Minister John Major told Gorbachev,
according to British Ambassador Rodric Braithwaite’s diary entry of
March 5, 1991:

“We
are not talking about strengthening of NATO. We are talking about the
coordination of efforts that is already happening in Europe between
NATO and the West European Union, which, as it is envisioned, would
allow all members of the European Community to contribute to enhance
[our] security.”

The
documents also show that Russia had received these assurances from a
number of other high-level officials. These officials included
then-Secretary of State James Baker; President George H.W. Bush; West
German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher; West German
Chancellor Helmut Kohl; former CIA Director Robert Gates; French
leader Francois Mitterrand; Margaret Thatcher; British Foreign
Minister Douglas Hurd; and NATO Secretary-General Manfred Woerner.

biggest ever exercise, involving some 31,000 troops in a show of
force to neighboring Russia.

Since
that time, NATO has clearly expanded into Europe to the detriment of
Russia. Since the end of the Cold War, NATO has grown to include the
Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia,
Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, Albania and Croatia,
and Montenegro.

These
developments are crucial because, when one is honest about America’s
infamous history since World War II, it is clear that NATO exists
as an entity only
to counter and contain Russian influence. Its sole purpose is to
oppose Russia at every corner and this is no secret even in the
corporate media.

According
to the Telegraph,
NATO was formed in “Washington on 4th April, 1949 after the end of
the Second World War, largely to block Soviet expansion into Europe.”
This can be seen clearly in the complete rejection of the
Soviets’ attempt
to join NATO itself after
Joseph Stalin’s death.

In
a 2016 interview
with The
New Yorker,
Douglas Lute, a former three-star general and then-U.S.
Ambassador to NATO also patently admitted that:

“…NATO
was founded on the premise of preventing an attack by the Soviet
Union in Central Europe, where the U.S. would have to come to the aid
of Europe … For the first forty years, NATO focussed on its
greatest risk—the threat that the Soviet Union posed to Western
European security.”

At
the time the unrest broke out in 2014, then-NATO Secretary General
Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s comment that
the proposed IMF-EU package presented to Ukraine would have been “a
major boost for Euro-Atlantic security” suggested that NATO had set
its sights on bringing Ukraine into the military alliance. In
July of this year,
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with Poroshenko in Kiev
to further discuss this prospect, already pledging support to Ukraine
on some level.

Now
Ukraine’s bid to join NATO seems almost irrelevant, as the U.S. is
formally involving itself deeper in the Ukrainian conflict and
providing arms to a regime that has flirted with an approval rating
lower than 10 percent, all the while provoking Russia to take further
measures in response.

What
could possibly go wrong?

Meanwhile,
the Russia-obsessed corporate media continues
to peddle the narrative that
Donald Trump has turned the United States into a client-state of
Russia, even while he directly provokes the former Soviet Union by
providing lethal assistance to a country on its border. Not only is
Trump maintaining an Obama-era policy, he is aggravating and
converting Obama’s Ukraine policy into a much more dangerous one —
ultimately aimed at provoking an aggressive response from Russia in
the weeks or months to come.

Moet eerlijk toegeven dat ik Bas Jacobs op z’n zachtst gezegd niet volg, was dan ook zeer verbaasd over een Twitter bericht van deze econoom (een bericht dat door Walter van der Cruijsen werd ‘geretweet’), waarin hij het opneemt voor Griekenland en stelling neemt tegen het afbraakbeleid van de Europese Commissie, de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) en het IMF (deze 3 worden tezamen ‘trojka’ genoemd)…… Een beleid dat de Grieken in enorme ellende heeft gestort, een inhumaan wanbeleid beleid o.a. door PvdA grootschoft Dijsselbloem als voorzitter van de Eurogroep uitgedragen. Eerder had Jacobs op z’n zachtst gezegd ‘een iets andere mening als het om Griekenland ging…’
