BBC World Service radio had vanmorgen (rond 11.40 u. CET) Jonathan Chandler, vicevoorzitter van de rechtse denktank ‘Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), gezeteld in Washington, aan de telefoon. De aanleiding daartoe is het inhouden van de bijdrage aan de VN vluchtelingenorganisatie UNRWA door de VS.
Volgens Chandler is het belachelijk dat er voor de Palestijnen een aparte vluchtelingenorganisatie werd opgericht in 1948 (de UNRWA), toen meer dan 800.000 Palestijnen huis en haard zijn ontvlucht vanwege de moorddadige agressie van Israëlische zionisten (fascisten)……. Chandler vergeet even dat het grootste deel van de wereld achter de oprichting van UNRWA stond en dat het werk voor Palestijnen uiterst moeizaam is, daar ze over zoveel landen zijn verspreid…. Zo waren ook de Palestijnse vluchtelingen in Syrië de laatste 7 jaar het doel van de door het westen als ‘gematigde rebellen’ benoemde moordenaars, verkrachters en martelbeulen……..
Het ‘steekt’ Chandler vooral dat UNRWA de nu nog 30.000 levende Palestijnse vluchtelingen (over van de oorspronkelijk 800.000 vluchtelingen) en alle nabestaanden blijft aanduiden als vluchtelingen….. Volgens deze smerige psychopaat staat deze houding van de UNRWA de vredesonderhandelingen in Israël (tussen de Israëlische overheid en de Palestijnen) in de weg….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Hé Chandler, denk je niet dat juist Israël deze onderhandelingen keer op keer frustreert???
Zo -schieten Israëlische scherpschutters op ongewapende vreedzame demonstranten (inclusief kinderen gehandicapten en medische hulpverleners, al vanaf maart dit jaar, elke vrijdag aan de grens met Israël in de Gazastrook) waar je zelfs over massamoord kan spreken, zoals Israël die vaker aanricht onder de Palestijnen, -wordt het Palestijnen onmogelijk gemaakt hun land te bewerken, zoals voor enorm veel boeren op de West Bank geldt, of -het gevangennemen en houden van Palestijnen (en Palestijnse kinderen) zonder enige vorm van proces (‘administratieve detentie….’), waarbij ze ook nog eens worden gemarteld, dan is er nog -het onthouden van drinkwater aan de Palestijnen zowel in de Gazastrook als de West Bank, verder is daar nog -de schandalige blokkade van de Gazastrook door de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël, die tot de hierboven genoemde protesten in de Gazastrook hebben geleid……
Om nog maar te zwijgen over de illegale nederzettingen op de West Bank, een politiek die steeds verder wordt geïntensiveerd, zeker na de aanname van de ‘natiestaat wet’ (een ronduit fascistische wet) in het Israëlische parlement…….
Chandler is van een denktank die zegt de democratie te beschermen, maar volgens Chandler is Hamas in de Gazastrook geen regering….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Hamas werd NB met grote meerderheid verkozen in de Gazastrook! Juist de Palestijnse Autoriteit (PA) van Abbas is geen legitieme regering, immers die ‘regering’ zit er al vanaf 2009 en durft geen verkiezingen uit te schrijven daar ze bang zijn net zo’n klap te krijgen als eerder in de Gazastrook… Nee, daar hoor je Chandler niet over……
Chandler wilde nog even kwijt dat de UNWRA corrupt is, niet dat hij daar bewijzen voor had, hij stelde simpel dat de VN in haar geheel corrupt is en dat de UNRWA corrupt is daar het alleen de belangen van Palestijnen behartigt, alsof dat een bewijs van corruptie is….. Chandler verwees daarbij naar de andere vluchtelingenorganisatie van de VN de UNHCR, alsof de VN leden, inclusief de VS eerder niet instemden met de oprichting van de UNRWA…….
Heb me trouwens rot gezocht op de site van BBC W.S. naar dit onderdeel, dat was echter alleen via een zoekopdracht te vinden, het stond dus niet tussen de ‘tegels’ (foto’s met onderschrift) waar je normaal gesproken op moet klikken om dit soort programmaonderdelen terug te vinden, hier de link naar de site, let wel: na een week wordt het programma van het net gehaald en kan je het niet meer terugluisteren. Overigens hoor je eerst Chris Gunness van de UNRWA, die uitlegt dat het ronduit een ramp is als de VS haar bijdrage inhoudt, daar dit een kwart bedraagt van het totale budget en de nood in bijvoorbeeld Syrië ontzettend hoog is (NB door de illegale oorlog van de VS tegen het democratisch gekozen bewind in dat land…. Uiteraard verdedigt Gunness terecht het humanitaire werk dat UNRWA verricht, waarnaast de UNRWA zorg draagt voor onderwijs aan Palestijnse kinderen, zoals je begrijpt uitermate belangrijk…..)
Tot slot waar blijft de overjarige PvdA nep-hippie en vals loeder Ploumen nu met een pleidooi om de bijdrage van de VS voor de UNRWA uit andere bronnen te betrekken????
De
‘nationale adviseur’ van Trump, zijne kwaadaardigheid Bolton, heeft
in Israël aangegeven dat een gifgasaanval van het reguliere Syrische
leger tot actie van de VS zal leiden. Bolton zei e.e.a. naar aanleiding van de door Syrië ingezetten aanval tegen terreurgroepen in de Syrische provincie Idlib, één van de laatste plekken waar
‘gematigde rebellen’ (lees: psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters
en martelbeulen) nog standhouden, onherroepelijk tot actie van de VS zal leiden…….
Tot nu
toe zijn alle gifgasaanvallen die in de oorlog in Syrië werden
gepleegd toe te wijzen aan deze door het westen liefkozend
genoemde ‘gematigde rebellen’, sterker nog: deskundigen stellen dat Syrië al lang geen chemische wapens meer heeft (vernietigd onder toezicht van de VN), terwijl deze
‘rebellen’ wel beschikken over voorraden gifgas als chlorine en
sarin, een bezit waartegen de VS en haar hielenlikkende andere westerse landen, geen bezwaar
hebben…….
Je kan
dan ook niet anders concluderen dan dat Bolton met zijn uitlatingen
de terreurgroepen oproept een false flag gifgas operatie uit te
voeren….
Vreemd
dat Bolton zijn uitlatingen deed in Israël, waar hij zijn tweede

Warns Assad “We Will Respond” If Chemical Weapons Used in Idlib
Offensive
(ZHE Op-ed) — Here
we go again. Did Bolton just give jihadists facing imminent final
defeat under Assad and Russian bombs an open door invitation to
initiate a chemical provocation?
As
CNN and others warned this week that Syrian and Russian
forces are
closing in on the “last
rebel stronghold” in Syria in the country’s northwest pocket of
Idlib province, US National Security Advisor put Syrian President
Bashar al-Assad on notice, saying the
United States would respond “very strongly” if pro-government
forces use chemical weapons in their campaign to retake Idlib.
“We
now see plans for the Syrian regime to resume offensive military
activities in Idlib province,” he
said. “We
are obviously concerned about the possibility that Assad may use
chemical weapons again.”
Bolton
warned, “Just
so there’s no confusion here, if the Syrian regime uses chemical
weapons we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think
about this a long time.”
The “rebel”
coalition in control of this major “final holdout” is but
the latest incarnation of al-Qaeda, calling itself Hay’at
Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)
and has held the province, the capital city of which is Idlib city,
since a successful Western and Gulf ally sponsored attack on the area
in 2015.
During
Bolton’s comments before reporters in Jerusalem, he
appeared to boast about prior US airstrikes on Syrian government
forces,
referencing Tomahawk missile strikes over the past two Aprils — the
first of which wasin
response to sarin gas attack claims made by HTS and the White Helmets
in Khan Sheikhoun, which is in Idlib.
Till
this day the international chemical investigative body and watchdog,
the OPCW, has
yet to visit the site due
to its being controlled by al-Qaeda forces.

At
the time, as in other cases like Douma in April 2018, the White House
simply relied on the word of both HTS and the White Helmets, who
produced social media videos purporting to show the aftermath of an
alleged chemical attack.
Considering
the al-Qaeda and Islamist coalition in Idlib is now facing imminent
total annihilation in the face of overwhelming Syrian Army and
Russian air power, it is highly
likely that jihadist insurgents and their partners like the White
Helmets are already in the process of preparing for some kind of
claimed “chemical event”.
Indeed,
Bolton’s words
on Wednesday of “we
will respond very strongly” positively
invites just such a scenario.
This
is the clearly observable pattern that seems to repeat
both whenever the administration announces
it is content with Assad staying in power and
seemingly every time the Syrian Army is on a
trajectory of overwhelming victory: an
ill-timed and strategically nonsensical mass chemical attack
on civilians supposedly ordered by Assad —
inevitably giving the West an open door for military
intervention, new rounds of crippling sanctions, and yet more
international media condemnation heaped on Damascus.
Bolton
is currently in Israel to discuss the key issues of Iran and Syria,
and further addressed Iran during the press conference. While
he noted
that “Regime
change in Iran is not American policy but what we want is massive
change in the regime’s behavior,” he also said the
US supports Israel’s recent attacks on Iranian targets within
Syria.
“Every
time that Iran has brought missiles or other threatening weapons into
Syria in recent months Israel has struck those targets,” Bolton said,
and added, “I
think that’s a legitimate act of self-defense on the part of
Israel.”
The
other observable pattern on the seven-year long conflict in Syria is
this: every time the war seems to have receded from international
media attention, with the momentum clearly being with Assad and the
Syrian Army, a mass attention-grabbing event or massacre happens to
yank the world’s (and the White House’s) focus right back on
Damascus.

Israeli
occupation police on Saturday evening forced a Palestinian man in the
Negev to demolish his home on his wedding day, Arab48 reported. Faisal
Abu-Binniyah in Wadi Al-Naam village was forced to raze the property
in which he planned to start his new family, his brother Jalal said,
leaving “him without an alternative”.
“The
demolition of my brother’s house ended our happiness at his
marriage as we were subject to repeated raids by Israeli police and
repeated threats to pay high fines if we did not demolish the house,”
Jalal told Arab48.
Jalal
described the measures of the Israeli police against his family as a
“revenge policy”, stating that this is “intentionally planned
against Arabs.”
Wadi
Al-Naam is the largest unrecognised Arab villages in the Negev with a
population estimated to be more than 13,000.
Most
of the residents in this village were forced out of their homes by
the Israeli occupation forces in 1953. Like all other unrecognized
villages they lack the basic infrastructure including access to
running water and connection to the national grid.
According
to the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), more than half
of the approximately 160,000 Bedouins in the Negev reside in
unrecognised villages.
The
unrecognised Bedouin villages were established in the Negev soon
after the 1948 Arab-Israeli war following the creation of the State
of Israel.
Right
groups say that the demolition of unrecognised Bedouin villages is
a central Israeli
policy aimed
at removing the indigenous Palestinian population from the Negev
and transferring them to government-zoned townships to make room for
the expansion of Jewish Israeli communities.

van het laatste grondwater daar werd vergiftigd…… Volgens
deskundigen gaat het hier om 60% van het Israëlische chemisch
afval….. Niet alleen wordt het grondwater vergiftigd, maar door de
manier van opslag (bovengronds) worden Palestijnen in de buurt van deze gifbelten ook nog eens extra vergiftigd via
de lucht die zijn inademen…. Op de West Bank zijn 98 van deze gifbelten te vinden……
Israël
is samen met Egypte, één van de
weinige landen die het verdrag tegen het gebruik en verspreiding van chemische

The
Israeli occupation has turned the occupied Palestinian West Bank into
a massive landfill for dangerous and toxic wastes since 1967,
the Anadolu Agency revealed yesterday.
Palestinian
experts and officials said that 60 per cent of Israel’s waste ends
up in the occupied West Bank.
They
stressed that this puts the life of Palestinians at stake, as well as
damaging the soil and poisoning the groundwater.
According
to Palestinian experts, Israeli disposal of its wastes is a clear
violation of international laws related to environmental protection.
Speaking
to Anadolu, head of the Palestinian Environment Authority
Adala Al-Atira said: “There are 98 Israeli landfills across the
occupied West Bank.”
This
is in addition to the scores of landfill sites which are used by the
illegal settlements but have not been officially recognised or
allocated.

Israeli
occupation forces yesterday raided a Palestinian school in Al-Khader
neighbourhood in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem,
the Anadolu Agency reported.
Coordinator
of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC*) Ahmed Salah told Anadolu that
the Israeli occupation force raided Said Bin Al-As School and
detained teachers and students. It was not clear how many people had
been held as a result of the raid.
He
said that the Israeli occupation forces raided the school while
students were sitting exams.
Occupation
forces often raid the school claiming they are looking for
Palestinian stone throwers who target vehicles of illegal Israeli
settlers in the area.

Fetzer hoogleraar (en onderzoeker) aan de University of Minnesota
Duluth (UMD) stelt dat de VS en haar partner Israël de grootste
terreurgroepen zijn die de wereld ooit heeft gezien. Uiteraard ben ik
het daarmee oneens (ben niet voor niets een Azijnpisser), die
twijfelachtige eer valt toch mede toe aan Turkije (de Armeense genocide en de voortdurende terreur tegen de Koerdische bevolking in en buiten Turkije), nazi-Duitsland, het
fascistische Japan, het Pol Pot regime in Cambodja en de junta van Pinochet in Chili (door de VS in het zadel geholpen*) let wel: dan hebben we het alleen over de laatste 100

twijfel zijn Israël en de VS, samen met Turkije en Saoedi-Arabië de
grootste terreurstaten in het ‘huidige bestel’, waar de VS al lang

en weigert het non-proliferatie verdrag te tekenen. Bovendien is een
bedrag van 3,8 miljard dollar jaarlijks tegen de VS richtlijnen voor

die dit bedrag in het geniep nog verder willen ophogen…….
Het voorgaande, ondanks de massamoorden die Israël keer op keer aanricht onder de Palestijnen en waar terreurstaat Israël het dagelijkse leven voor de Palestijnen onmogelijk maakt, met deze zaken voert Israël in feite een langzame etnische zuivering door….

2 schoften overrijp voor berechting door het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC)
De
militaire hulp die de Verenigde Staten ieder jaar aan Israël bieden
is in strijd met de Amerikaanse wet en bewijst dat deze twee
bondgenoten ’s werelds grootste terreurgroeperingen zijn. Dat zegt
een Amerikaanse onderzoeker.
In
de Amerikaanse begroting is 3,8 miljard dollar per jaar uitgetrokken
voor steun aan het land. Amerikaanse senatoren proberen dat bedrag nu
stilletjes op te schroeven.
“Alleen
al de idee dat de Amerikaanse Senaat de hulp aan Israël uitbreidt is
schandalig en in strijd met de richtlijnen voor buitenlandse hulp,”
zei emeritus hoogleraar James Fetzer van de University of Minnesota
Duluth in gesprek met Press TV.
Schrappen
De
VS mag namelijk volgens de wet geen hulp bieden aan landen die
niet-aangegeven kernwapens hebben.
“Het
is algemeen bekend dat Israël een groot arsenaal aan nucleaire,
chemische en biologische wapens heeft,” zei Fetzer.
Hij
vindt om die reden dat de Senaat de hulp moet schrappen in plaats van
uitbreiden.
Grootste
terreurgroepering
De
Amerikaanse militaire hulp aan Israël is in de afgelopen jaren flink
uitgebreid, terwijl het Israëlische leger in Gaza en elders de
mensenrechten schendt.
De
uitbreiding van de hulp zal het imago van Amerikaanse politici alleen
nog maar verder aantasten, aldus Fetzer.
“De
Senaat moet ophouden zichzelf te schande te maken door constant de
hielen te likken van Israël, dat samen met de VS de grootste

CONFIDENTIAL REPORT by Israeli military police
investigators seen by The Intercept explains how a tragic series of
mistakes by air force, naval, and intelligence officers led to an
airstrike in which four Palestinian boys playing on a beach in Gaza
in 2014 were killed by missiles launched from an armed drone.
Testimony
from the officers involved in the attack, which has been concealed
from the public until now, confirms for the first time that the
children — four cousins ages 10 and 11 — were pursued and killed
by drone operators who somehow mistook them, in broad daylight, for
Hamas militants.
The
testimony raises new questions about whether the attack, which
unfolded in front of dozens of journalists and triggered global
outrage, was carried out with reckless disregard for civilian life
and without proper authorization. After killing the first boy, the
drone operators told investigators, they had sought clarification
from their superiors as to how far along the beach, used by
civilians, they could pursue the fleeing survivors. Less than a
minute later, as the boys ran for their lives, the drone operators
decided to launch a second missile, killing three more children,
despite never getting an answer to their question.
Suhad
Bishara, a lawyer representing the families of the victims, told
The
Intercept that Israel’s use of armed drones to kill Palestinians
poses “many questions concerning human judgment, ethics, and
compliance with international humanitarian law.”
Remotely
piloted bombers “alter the process of human decision-making,”
Bishara said, and the use of the technology in the 2014 beach attack
“expands the circle of people responsible for the actual killing of
the Bakr children.”
Just
hours before the attack, on the morning of July 16, 2014, the public
relations unit of the Israel Defense Forces had been promoting the
idea that the live video feeds provided by drones enabled its air
force to avoid killing Palestinian civilians.
The
PR unit released operational
footage,
apparently taken from the
screens of Israeli drone operators,
which documented how three Israeli airstrikes had been called off
that week because figures, identified as civilians, had appeared
close to targets in the densely populated Gaza Strip.
Those
images were released one week into Israel’s Operation Protective
Edge, a 50-day offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza in which
Israel would eventually kill 1,391
civilians, including 526 children.
Later
that same day, at about 3:30 p.m., an Israeli Hermes 450 surveillance
drone hovering over a beach in Gaza City transmitted images of eight
figures clambering from the strand onto a jetty.
A
small shipping container on the jetty had been destroyed by an
Israeli missile the day before, based on intelligence indicating that
it might have been used by Hamas naval commandos to
store weapons. Some analysts have questioned that intelligence,
however, since there were no secondary explosions after the structure
was hit and journalists staying in nearby hotels reported that no
militants had been seen around the jetty that week.
The
Israeli military police report reviewed by The Intercept documents
what happened next. After one of the figures on the jetty entered the
container that had been destroyed the previous day, an Israeli air
force commander at the Palmachim air base, south of Tel Aviv, ordered
the operators of a second drone, which was armed, to fire a missile
at the container.

2016, although the Israeli government maintains an official stance of
secrecy around its use of drones to carry out airstrikes, hacked
Israeli surveillance images provided
to The Intercept by former National Security Agency contractor
Edward Snowden showed an Israeli drone armed with missiles in 2010.
Speaking
privately to a visiting American diplomat after Israel’s 2009
offensive in Gaza, Avichai Mandelblit, who was the country’s chief
military prosecutor at the time and now serves as its attorney
general, acknowledged that two missiles that injured civilians in a
mosque had been fired from an unmanned aerial vehicle, according to
a leaked
State Department cable.
One
reason that Israel might decline to acknowledge that its drones have
been used to kill Palestinian children is that such information could
complicate sales of its drones to foreign governments. In June, the
state-owned company Israel Aerospace Industries signed a $600
million deal to
lease Heron drones to Germany’s defense ministry. That deal was
initially delayed by concerns from German politicians that the
drones, to be used for surveillance, could also be armed. The same
state-owned company has also sold drones to Turkey, a strongly
pro-Palestinian nation, which has nonetheless used the Israeli
technology to bomb Kurds in Iraq.
The
Israeli military police report on the 2014 strike seen by The
Intercept offers the most direct evidence to date that Israel has
used armed drones to launch attacks in Gaza. Testimony from the drone
operators, commanders, and intelligence officers who took part in the
attack confirms that they used an armed drone to fire the missile
that slammed into the jetty, killing the person who had entered the
container, and also to launch a second strike, which killed three of
the survivors as they fled across the beach.
According
to the testimony of one naval officer involved in the strikes, the
mission was initially considered “a great success,” because
the strike team believed, wrongly, that they had killed four Hamas
militants preparing to launch an attack on Israeli forces.
Within
minutes of the two strikes, however, a group of international
journalists who had witnessed the attack from nearby
hotels reported that
the victims torn apart by the missiles were not adult militants
but four
small boys,
cousins who were 10 and 11 years old.
Another
four boys from the same family survived the attack, but were left
with shrapnel wounds and deep
emotional scars.
A
brutal image of the immediate aftermath captured by Tyler Hicks of
the New
York Times,
one of the journalists who witnessed the attack, made the killing of
the four boys, all of them sons of Gaza fishermen from the Bakr
family, reverberate worldwide.
The
French TV correspondent Liseron Boudoul, whose report that day
included distressing
video of
the boys running along the beach before the second strike, noted that
she and other witnesses to the attack were unclear where, exactly,
the missiles had come from — although initial speculation centered
on Israeli naval vessels seen just offshore.
THE
SECRET TESTIMONY from the Israeli military
personnel involved in the attack establishes for the first time that
the drone operators treated the jetty as a free-fire zone on the
mistaken assumption that it was off-limits to anyone but militants.
After
images of the attack prompted widespread outrage, Israel’s army
conducted a review of the mission and recommended that a military
police investigation into possible criminal negligence be conducted.
The testimonies collected by the military police from the strike team
were included in a report presented to Israel’s military advocate
general, Maj. Gen. Danny Efroni, 11 months after the boys were
killed.
Efroni
did not release the testimonies, but did make a summary
of the report’s findings public
on June 11, 2015, when he closed
the investigation
without filing any charges. Israel’s chief military prosecutor
decided that no further criminal or disciplinary measures would be
taken, since the investigators had concluded that “it would not
have been possible for the operational entities involved to have
identified these figures, via aerial surveillance, as children.”
Efroni
did not explain why that was impossible. Two days before the strike
in question, Israel’s military PR unit had released another
video clip
in which drone operators could be heard deciding to halt strikes
because they had identified figures in their live feeds as children.
Adalah,
also known as the Haifa-based Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights
in Israel, has spent the past three years fighting on behalf of the
families of the boys — Ismail Bakr, 10; Ahed Bakr, 10; Zakaria
Bakr, 10; and Mohammed Bakr, 11 — to have the decision not to
prosecute the soldiers overturned by an Israeli court.
Much
of that time has been spent waiting
for Israel’s attorney general,
Mandelblit, to simply reply to appeals filed by Adalah and two Gazan
rights groups, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights and Al Mezan
Center for Human Rights.
In
February, Adalah said in a statement that
Israel’s own investigation “revealed that the Israeli military
did not take any measures to ascertain whether the targets on the
ground were civilians, let alone children, prior to intentionally
directing the attacks against them.”
Bishara,
one of the Adalah lawyers representing the boys’ families, told The
Intercept in a telephone interview that the Israeli investigation of
the killings, in which the military cleared itself of wrongdoing, was
flawed in several ways. To start with, the testimonies were only
collected by the military police four months after the incident, and
only considered what could be seen of the beach through the drone
cameras. No
testimony was taken from
the international journalists who witnessed the attack, and the
accounts of Palestinian witnesses, including written affidavits from
boys injured in the strikes, were discounted.
A Wall
Street Journal video report filed
on the day of the attack by Nick Casey, a correspondent staying
in a hotel close to the jetty, cast doubt on the Israeli intelligence
that designated the site a Hamas compound. Casey’s report, which
featured images of the first young victim’s mangled body being
taken from the jetty, explained that “no one knew why this place
had been bombarded; there have been no Hamas attacks from here and no
rockets that we’ve seen.”
When
the Israeli authorities closed the case in 2015, Alexander Marquardt,
a former ABC Jerusalem correspondent who had also witnessed the
attack, disputed the
finding that the jetty was sealed off from the beach, arguing that it
was open to civilians.

Israel storms Al-Aqsa compound during Friday prayers, shots fired
Israeli
forces have chained the gates of Al-Aqsa mosque.
At
least two Palestinian worshippers are thought to have been
injured. Quds

in which one man can be seen lying on a stretcher with blood on his
neck and chest.
The
Waqf, the endowment that holds custodianship of Al-Aqsa, confirmed
reports of injuries, saying that “several people were lightly
injured as a result of clashes,” Haaretz reported.
The Waqf added that “the [Israeli] police blocked the exits from
inside the mosque compound, causing further unrest.”
Reports
as to the cause of the violence are mixed. Haaretz quoted
Israeli police sources as saying “in an unclear and inexplicable
step, stones and fireworks were thrown at the police forces.”
The
heavy handed response by Israeli forces seems to have escalated the
situation. Al
Jazeera Arabictweeted a
video showing intense firing inside the compound, as Palestinians
sought shelter near buildings. Meanwhile, Lebanese newspaper the
Daily Star reported
that “Israeli police sealed the gates to Jerusalem’s flashpoint
Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.”
Reports
have emerged that Israeli occupation forces are shooting
rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas at Palestinian worshippers
in Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
Videos
show Palestinians running from approaching Israeli soldiers, as shots
can be heard being fired in the background. Smoke can also be seen
engulfing the compound, believed to be coming from tear gas canisters
fired by Israeli forces to disperse the crowds.
A
number of Palestinians have seemingly been arrested and can be seen
being escorted through the compound by armed Israeli forces in riot
gear. Others shared images from inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque itself,
where women and children can be seen sheltering from the violence.
Initial
reports added that Israeli forces have chained the gates of the
mosque.
The
compound, which is situated in Jerusalem’s Old City, is the site of
Friday prayers for thousands of Palestinians. Today’s violence
comes just a week after over a thousand Israeli settlers stormed the
Al-Aqsa compound under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

Russia Has Done”
(ZHE) — Well,
this is going to make the weekend’s political conversations a
little more awkward around America.
As
the mainstream media (and even the leftist politicians) begin to back
quietly away from the “collusion” narrative, they remain
increasingly focused on Russia’s “evil” efforts at “meddling”
in the US election and “interfering with our democracy,” or some
such hysterical phrase.
And
that is what makes the comments by mainstay of world-renowned
political dissident and liberal-thinking hero Noam Chomsky’s
comments in the following interview with Democracy Now so ‘awkward’
for the Trump-hating members of society.

take, say, the huge issue of interference in our pristine
elections. Did
the Russians interfere in our elections? An
issue of overwhelming concern in the media. I mean, in most of the
world, that’s almost
a joke.
First
of all, if you’re interested in foreign interference in our
elections, whatever
the Russians may have done barely counts or weighs in the balance as
compared with what another state does, openly, brazenly and with
enormous support.
Israeli
intervention in U.S. elections vastly overwhelms anything the
Russians may have done…
I
mean, even to the point where the
prime minister of Israel, Netanyahu, goes directly to Congress,
without even informing the president, and speaks to Congress, with
overwhelming applause, to try to undermine the president’s policies
– what happened with Obama and Netanyahu in 2015….
Did
Putin come to give an address to the joint sessions of Congress
trying to – calling on them to reverse U.S. policy, without even
informing the president? And
that’s just a tiny bit of this overwhelming influence.
So
if you happen to be interested in influence of – foreign influence
on elections, there are places to look. But even that is a joke.
I
mean, one
of the most elementary principles of a functioning democracy is that
elected representatives should be responsive to those who elected
them. There’s nothing more elementary than that. But we know very
well that that is simply not the case in the United States.
There’s
ample literature in mainstream academic political science simply
comparing voters’ attitudes with the policies pursued by their
representatives, and it shows that for a large majority of the
population, they’re basically disenfranchised. Their own
representatives pay no attention to their voices. They
listen to the voices of the famous 1 percent – the rich and the
powerful, the corporate sector.
The
elections—Tom Ferguson’s stellar work has demonstrated, very
conclusively, that for a long period, way back, U.S. elections have
been pretty much bought. You can predict the outcome of a
presidential or congressional election with remarkable precision by
simply looking at campaign spending. That’s only one part of it.
Lobbyists
practically write legislation in congressional offices.In
massive ways, the concentrated private capital, corporate sector,
super wealth, intervene in our elections, massively, overwhelmingly,
to the extent that the most elementary principles of democracy are
undermined. Now,
of course, all that is technically legal, but that tells you
something about the way the society functions.
So, if
you’re concerned with our elections and how they operate and how
they relate to what would happen in a democratic society, taking a
look at Russian hacking is absolutely the wrong place to look. Well,
you see occasionally some attention to these matters in the media,
but very minor as compared with the extremely
marginal question of Russian hacking.
And
I think we find this on issue after issue, also on issues on which
what Trump says, for whatever reason, is not unreasonable. So, he’s
perfectly right when he says we should have better relations with
Russia.
Being
dragged through the mud for that is outlandish, makes – Russia
shouldn’t refuse to deal with the United States because the
U.S. carried out the worst crime of the century in the invasion of
Iraq, much worse than anything Russia has done.
But
they shouldn’t refuse to deal with us for that reason, and we
shouldn’t refuse to deal with them for whatever infractions they
may have carried out, which certainly exist. This is just absurd. We
have to move towards better – right
at the Russian border, there are very extreme tensions, that could
blow up anytime and lead to what would in fact be a terminal nuclear
war, terminal for the species and life on Earth. We’re
very close to that.
Now,
we could ask why. First of all, we should do things to ameliorate it.
Secondly, we should ask why. Well, it’s because NATO expanded
after the collapse of the Soviet Union, in violation
of verbal promises to Mikhail Gorbachev, mostly under Clinton, partly
under first Bush, then Clinton expanded right to the Russian border,
expanded further under Obama.
The
U.S. has offered to bring Ukraine into NATO. That’s the kind
of a heartland of Russian geostrategic concerns.
So,
yes, there’s
tensions at the Russian border – and not, notice, at the Mexican
border. Well,
those are all issues that should be of primary concern.
The
fate of – the
fate of organized human society, even of the survival of the species,
depends on this. How
much attention is given to these things as compared with, you know,
whether Trump lied about something? I think those seem to me the
fundamental criticisms of the media.
So
to sum up – Trump’s
right about better relations with Russia – the fate of the world
depends on it, Russia did nothing of note, Russian hacking is
extremely marginal, Israel is the real meddler, US democracy no
longer exists, the billionaire corporatocracy runs America.
Is
Noam Chomsky a “puppet of Putin”? Did the veteran political
dissident just become a “useful

Nee, daar heeft de BBC geen tijd voor, liever maakt men Jeremy Corbyn openlijk te schande door te beweren dat hij een antisemiet is (o.a. naar aanleiding van een gesprek dat Corbyn een paar jaar gelden had met Hajo Meyer (overleden op 23 augustus 2014) van Een Ander Joods Geluid, NB een overlevende van de nazi-Duitse doodskampen…… Overigens is deze berichtgeving op o.a. de BBC over Corbyn haatzaaiend en ophitsend, mocht iemand Corbyn vermoorden of verwonden, is de BBC één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken……
