Op de Defence Security and Equipment International (DSEI), een wapenbeurs die van 12 tot 15 september jl. plaatsvond in Oost-Londen, heeft wapen- en munitiefabrikant Edgar Brothers een afbeelding van David Bowie gebruikt om haar moorddadig tuig te verkopen……..
Dat ging deze wapenfabrikant echter alles behalve goed af. Darren Cullen, een artiest die werkte op de beurs bemerkte de foto en ondernam actie (volgens theCanary werkte hij op de beurs, maar gezien het artikel is het duidelijk dat Cullen zich vooral bezighield met demonstreren tegen deze doods-beurs…)…. De beheerder van het fotoarchief, waarin de bewuste foto van Bowie zich bevindt, The Duffy Archive bevestigde wat Cullen al vermoedde, er was geen toestemming gegeven voor het gebruik van de foto en na actie van dit archief werd de foto verwijderd……..
Er werden overigens 100 mensen gearresteerd, die demonstreerden tegen deze waanzinnige beurs van DSEI…… Een beurs waar ook wapenhandelaren uit landen als Bahrein, Algerije en Saoedi-Arabië in de rij stonden voor ‘al het moois’ dat te koop werd aangeboden…..
Over de laatste gesproken, Saoedi-Arabië, dat bezig is met een genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen, kocht de laatste jaren in Groot-Brittannië voor maar liefst 4,5 miljard euro aan moorddadig wapentuig, helikopters, vliegtuigen en munitie, waaronder clusterbommen van Groot-Brittannië……….
De Londense burgemeester Sadiq Khan wilde deze wapenbeurs weren uit zijn stad, maar is daartoe niet gemachtigd……. De schoftenregering May doet er het zwijgen toe, niet zo vreemd, daar het Britse ministerie van Defensie en dat van Internationale Handel de beurs mede hebben bekostigd…… Middels de verkoop van Brits wapentuig, waar duizenden mensen mee zijn en worden vermoord, verdient Groot-Brittannië grof geld, ofwel bloedgeld…….
De Britse overheid heeft dan ook 10 keer meer verdiend aan het leveren van wapens en hardware t.b.v. Saoedi-Arabië, dan het aan noodhulp heeft gegeven voor de bevolking van Jemen, een bevolking die wordt gebombardeerd door S-A en haar coalitiegenoten (onder regie van de VS, dat zelf o.a. middels drones en raketten moordt in Jemen…….)……. Met deze enorme terreur hebben deze landen een grote hongersnood en een enorme cholera uitbraak veroorzaakt in Jemen……………

A
firearms and ammunition company attempted to
use David Bowie’s image to sell its wares at one of the world’s
largest arms fairs. But it didn’t go well. Because the company
seemed to forget that it needed permission to use the image.
DSEI
The
Defence Security and Equipment International (DSEI) arms fair is
currently taking place in East London. As The
Canary previously reported,
over 100 people have been arrested trying
to stop the arms fair from taking place.
In
2015, arms dealers from 61 countries queued up
to view the merchandise of 1,500 exhibitors. 14 of the countries
invited, including Algeria and Bahrain, had authoritarian regimes.
Four, including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, have been listed by
the UK as having human rights issues. And a further 11 countries on
the list, such as Ukraine and Iraq, are currently at war.
London
Mayor Sadiq Khan wanted this arms fair banned from
the capital. But he said he was powerless to stop it. Meanwhile,
there is an eerie silence from the government over DSEI. Although
this is perhaps unsurprising. Because the event is sponsored by
the Ministry of Defence and the Department for International Trade.
And figures show that
the UK has made ten times more out of arms sales to Saudi Arabia than
it has given in aid to Yemen.
Meanwhile,
the Saudi Arabian-led bombing of
Yemen continues. And so do the arms sales. Since 2015, the UK
has licensed £3.8bn
of arms to the regime.
Edgar
Brothers
Edgar
Brothers is a company manufacturing ammunition and firearms.
It describesitself
as:
“one
of the oldest, most well established importers and wholesalers of
firearms, ammunition and associated products in the UK and Northern
Ireland”.
And
it decided to use Bowie’s image to
sell bullets. This was noticed by Darren Cullen, an artist who
currently has work at the Art the Arms Fair exhibition.
Speaking
to The
Canary, Cullen
described what happened:
“I
was checking Instagram to see if any of the DSEI contractors were
posting about being behind schedule due to the Stop the Arms Fair
blockades and I saw this photo of the UK arms trade pavilion with a
giant picture of David Bowie. It really stuck out to have someone
like Bowie featured among this festival of violence, and just in
really bad taste considering his own recent death”.
So
Cullen took action:
“I
got in touch with the rights-holder of the photograph, the estate of
the photographer Duffy, and just hoped to hell they hadn’t given
permission for these bastards to use his image. They got back to me
the next morning thanking me for bringing it to their attention and
saying they had definitely not given permission and they’d been
frantically trying to have the photo removed. The Duffy Archive were
really on top of it, full credit to them. They finally got hold of a
director at Edgar Brothers and the display was taken down straight
away due to their complaint. As far as I know, they’re still in
discussions as to what the next steps are. I hope the Duffy Archive
hammer them for it”.
Richard
Farrimond, marketing manager for Edgar Brothers, claimed:
“We
are not in a position to comment just yet. We’re actually still in
conversations with the Duffy Archive in relation to the incident in
question”.
A
tale of two events
DSEI
ends on 16 September. Speaking to The
Canary,
Andrew Smith from Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) described the
arms fair as “two events”:
“The
last two weeks have been a story of two events. One has been the arms
fair itself, which has seen weapons being promoted to some of the
most brutal and oppressive regimes in the world.
The
other has been the solidarity and the optimism offered by thousands
of activists and campaigners, who have been rightly appalled by these
arms exports and the atrocities they could be used in for years to
come. DSEI is a moral abomination. It’s time to shut it down for
good”.
And
Smith has a clear message for Bowie fans:
“DSEI
and the UK government may be experts at pushing arms exports, but
when it comes to David Bowie they are absolute beginners. The real
heroes were protesting outside DSEI, while the scary monsters and
super creeps were inside. We need to do all we can to keep the arms
fair under pressure”.
Shut
them down
DSEI
may be nearly over, but the arms trade continues throughout the year.
And the arms
dealers have
offices and factories around the country. It’s down to all of us to
let them know that this trade will not continue in our name; that we
can and will keep up the pressure. Together, we can shut them down.
Op 7 september jl. plaatste Anti-Media een artikel van Ben Norton, dat werd overgenomen van FAIR. In dit artikel plaatst Norton de berichtgeving van de reguliere westerse media over de oorlog in Jemen, naast wat er werkelijk gebeurde……
De vergelijking is stuitend: als de ‘Saoedische-coalitie’ verantwoordelijk is voor bombardementen waarbij burgers werden vermoord, althans als men dit al meldt, gebruikt men eufemistische termen voor het vermoorden van burgers, zoals die ook in ons land worden gebruikt…… U weet wel, er zijn slachtoffers te betreuren (zonder te vermelden of die mensen dood zijn, dan wel in het ziekenhuis liggen), of men spreekt over een onbekend aantal slachtoffers……
Een ‘mooie toevoeging’ aan de berichtgeving over de oorlog van de ‘Saoedische-coalitie’ (onder leiding van en met toestemming van de VS gevoerd) is ook het woord ‘zou of zouden’, dus: er zou bij die aanval een twintigtal mensen zijn omgekomen (waarbij dan het woord burgerslachtoffers vermijdt, alsof het om Houthi rebellen zou gaan…), daarmee geeft men ook aan een slag om de arm te houden, zelfs als dit bericht door een groot aantal mediaorganen wordt gemeld, waaraan zelfs foto en video materiaal werd toegevoegd………. M.a.w. zelfs als het zeker is dat e.e.a. is gebeurd, doet men net of het niet zeker is dat er mensen zijn ‘omgekomen…’ (lees: vermoord….)
Uiterst grof is het feit dat men bij tijd en wijle Jemenitische luchtbombardementen noemt, waarbij burgers werden gedood, terwijl de Houthi rebellen, die het grootste deel van Jemen in handen hebben, niet de beschikking hebben over een luchtmacht, of zelfs maar over één helikopter……..
Dan is er nog de hongersnood en de enorme cholera-uitbraak, die Jemen heeft getroffen, beiden de oorzaak van de Saoedische oorlog (zeg maar gerust: genocide) tegen het sjiitische deel van de Jemenitische bevolking…… Tot op heden heb ik nooit in de reguliere media gehoord of gelezen, dat Saoedi-Arabië de oorzaak van alle ellende is, zelfs niet tijdens de Nederlandse inzamelingsactie tegen de honger in Jemen eerder dit jaar…….. Overigens hoor je amper of niets over het aantal dodelijke slachtoffers t.g.v. honger en cholera in Jemen, terwijl dat er al vele duizenden, zo niet tienduizenden moeten zijn…….
‘Uiteraard’ is er al helemaal geen aandacht voor de rol van de VS en Groot-Brittannië in deze smerige oorlog, die niets, maar dan ook helemaal niets met een burgeroorlog te maken heeft…….. De Houthi’s hadden succes in hun strijd tegen Al Qaida en IS, een zaak die S-A flink dwarszat, vandaar dat de Saoedische dictatuur de zelf opgestapte president van Jemen, Al Hadi, onder druk hebben gezet zijn functie weer op te nemen, waarmee hij de Saoedische hulp kon inroepen, zodat men IS en Al Qaida kon ontzetten en tegelijk de sjiitische bevolking kon vermoorden…………
De VS en GB voorzien Saoedi-Arabië van straaljagers, helikopters, ander groot wapentuig, munitie (waaronder clusterbommen) en training. Waarbij de VS nu naast de Saoediërs, zelfs op Jemenitische grond oorlog voert, zogenaamd tegen Al Qaida……… Waarbij zoals u begrijpt vooral de posities van de Houthi rebellen het doelwit zijn….. Voorts helpt de VS Saoedi-Arabië bij haar blokkades van het door Houthi’s beheerd gebied, zodat humanitaire hulp maar mondjesmaat kan worden aangevoerd (als dat al lukt…..)

How the Media Covers Up US/Saudi Guilt for Killing Thousands of
Civilians in Yemen
(FAIR) — A
coalition of Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom and
the United Arab Emirates, with minor support from several other
Middle Eastern nations, has relentlessly bombed Yemen since March
2015. This August, the coalition ramped up the ferocity of its
airstrikes, killing dozens of civilians.
On
August 23, the US/Saudi coalition bombed a hotel near Yemen’s
capital Sanaa, killing 41 people, 33 of whom—80 percent—were
civilians, according to the United Nations.
Then
on August 25, the coalition bombed homes in Sanaa, massacring a dozen
civilians, including eight members of the same family.
Major
Western media outlets have, however, obscured the responsibility
Saudi Arabia, and its US and European supporters, bear for launching
these airstrikes.
There
are no other parties presently bombing Yemen, so media cannot feign
ignorance as to who is responsible for the attacks. But reports on
the bloody US/Saudi coalition airstrikes were nonetheless rife with
ambiguous and downright misleading language.
“Dozens
of People Killed as Airstrike Hits Hotel Near Yemen’s Capital,”
wrote NPR (8/23/17),
in a masterwork of euphemism. Apparently dozens of Yemenis
mysteriously died of unknown causes at the exact moment a generic,
unaffiliated airstrike hit the hotel. NPR only
indirectly mentioned, in the story’s fifth paragraph, that the
“Saudi-led coalition” was “blamed” for the attack.
AFP‘s
news wire (8/23/17),
which was republished by Yahoo,
the Daily
Mail and Breitbart,
used the headline “Air Raids on Outskirts of Yemen Capital Kill ‘at
least 30,’” again obscuring who was responsible for those air
raids. France
24 (8/23/17)
ran the wire with the headline “Air Raids on Yemen Capital Kill
Dozens.”
TheBBC (8/23/17)
wrote, “Yemen War: Air Strike on Hotel Outside Sanaa ‘Leaves 30
Dead.’” “Dozens Killed in Airstrike on Yemeni Hotel,”
the Guardian headline

The
London-based Middle
East Eye (8/23/17)
was just as ambiguous, with “Yemen Air Attack Destroys Hotel,
Killing at Least 35 People,” as was Qatar-owned Al
Jazeera (8/23/17),
with “Air Raid in Yemen Kills at Least 35 people” and the
Turkish TRT
World (8/24/17),
which wrote, “At Least 60 people Killed in Airstrikes on Hotel in
Yemen.”
Whose
airstrike was it? What party was responsible? This remains unknown to
those who only glanced at the headlines—that is to say, to most
readers.
The
29-month war has killed thousands of Yemeni civilians, with tens of
thousands more injured and millions
facing famine.
And the United Nations has repeatedly reported that the US/Saudi
coalition is responsible for a majority of the civilian
casualties.
Even
when Saudi Arabia’s guilt is acknowledged by media, the crucial
role of the US is typically ignored
(FAIR.org, 8/31/15, 10/14/16, 2/27/17).
Readers miss out on crucial context that is needed to understand the
war, and their governments’ contributions to it: Saudi Arabia is
flying US-made planes, full of fuel provided by the US Air Force,
dropping US- and UK-made bombs, with intelligence and assistance from
American and British military officials.
Non-Yemeni
‘Yemeni Airstrikes’
Two
days later, reports were just as obfuscatory, and even used the term
“Yemeni airstrike,”
to refer to an airstrike that was carried out by non-Yemenis.
“Yemen
Airstrike Kills 12, Including Six Children:
Rescuers,” Reuters reported
on August
25.
This brief two-paragraph wire did not once mention the US/Saudi
coalition was responsible. “After
Yemeni Airstrike, Little Girl Is Family’s Only Survivor,” the
international news agency wrote the next day (8/26/17).
This Reuters piece
noted that the “Saudi-led coalition” was “blamed,” though
even that language seems designed to deflect; blamers can be wrong,
after all.
Major
newspapers were similarly misleading. “Young Yemeni Girl Is Sole
Survivor After Airstrike Topples Her Home,” the New
York Times (8/26/17)
reported. The lead provided no further information: “An airstrike
toppled their apartment building.” In fact, it was not until the
seventh paragraph, after three large photos, that the Times finally
conceded, “A Saudi Arabia–led coalition took responsibility for
the airstrike a day after the attack, citing a ‘technical
mistake.’” The Times did
not once mention American or British support for the coalition.
Al
Jazeera (8/25/17)
likewise used the headline “Children Among Dead in Latest Attack on
Yemen Civilians.” And TRT
World (8/26/17)
reported, “Yemen Airstrike Kills 12, Including Six Children.”
Even
when Saudi Arabia admitted responsibility for killing Yemeni
civilians, media watered down the language. “Saudi-Led Force Admits
Strike in Yemen’s Capital Hit Civilians,” Reuters (8/26/17)
headlined its news wire. Note the airstrike hit civilians,
not killed them.
The
attack was also reduced to a mere “mistake.” Larger context was
not provided: namely that more than one-third of US/Saudi coalition
airstrikes have hit
civilian areas,
and that there is a growing body of evidence that the coalition
has intentionallytargeted
civilian infrastructure in
Yemen.
Not
all media were equally misleading; some were more forthright. AP‘s
news wire (8/23/17),
which was republished by the Chicago
Tribune,
New York Daily
News, Houston
Chronicle and San
Francisco Chronicle,
used a headline that told readers who was responsible for the deadly
attack: “Saudi-Led Airstrikes Hit Yemen Hotel, Killing at Least
41.” TheWashington
Post was
similarly direct, with its reports “Saudi-Led Coalition Airstrike
Kills Dozens in Yemen Ahead of Major Rally” (8/23/17)
and “Saudi-Led Airstrikes Kill 14 Civilians in Yemen’s Capital”
(8/25/17).
The
Art of Obfuscation
To
justify this ambiguity in reporting, media might claim it is
sometimes not immediately clear who launched the airstrikes. But,
again, there are no other parties flying warplanes in Yemen.
Yemeni
Houthi-Saleh forces, who govern the north of the country and roughly
80 percent of the population, have not been bombing their country.
Moreover, the US/Saudi coalition has imposed an air blockade on the
impoverished country since March 2015 (another significant fact that
is rarely reported by corporate media).
In
Syria, where numerous rival countries have been launching airstrikes,
it is understandable that media may sometimes have to exercise
caution before apportioning blame. But this is not the case with
Yemen.
In
the 29-month war in Yemen, there is one party that has been
responsible for thousands of air raids: the Saudi air force, as part
of a coalition with the US, the UK and the UAE.
Yet
Yemen is not an isolated case of this ambiguity. Media frequently
obfuscate and downplay the culpability for bombing when the US and
its allies are responsible.
When
the US bombed a hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, in October 2015,
killing dozens of civilians, media scrambled to craft almost
laughable euphemisms. FAIR (10/5/15)
documented at the time how news outlets used circuitous
headlines like “US Is Blamed After Bombs Hit Afghan Hospital.”
Also seen in the August
23NPR report
cited above, this brand of misleading, ambiguous rhetoric is the
“officer-involved
shooting”
of war reporting.
On
the other hand, the responsibility of US enemies for killing
civilians is rarely if ever obscured.
It
is instructive to compare Western media coverage of Yemen to that of
Syria, where attacks are “Assad bombing” (Fox
News, 2/15/17),
“Assad airstrikes” (Breitbart, 4/28/16),
“Assad regime airstrikes” (Times
of Israel, 10/16/12; Australian, 8/18/15),
“regime airstrikes” (NBC, 8/19/16)
or “regime bombing” (Daily
Caller, 8/17/15).
Media
have even written of a “pro-Assad drone” that was “displaying
hostile intent,” and thus just had to
be shot down by the US (Guardian, 6/20/17;Independent, 6/20/17; The
Hill, 6/20/17),
as if the robot were personally a fan of the Syrian leader.
The
phrases “Salman bombing,” “Salman airstrikes” or “Saudi
regime airstrikes” are, however, nowhere to be found in reports on
Yemen.
Downplaying
the Key US Role
Media
calling US/Saudi coalition attacks “Yemeni airstrikes” is at best
misleading, and at worst flat-out false. Yet this language also has a
political effect: It obscures the character of the war. This framing
is part of the “civil war” trope media have propagated for
two-and-a-half years.
When
Yemen is discussed, it is virtually always through the lens of a
“civil war.” As FAIR (7/25/17)
has detailed before, this exceedingly widespread myth, which has
permeated media discourse, denies the extent to which the conflict is
actually a foreign war on Yemen,
led by Saudi Arabia, the UAE and their US and European sponsors.
Even
the term “Saudi-led” coalition is misleading. The New
York Times editorial
board (8/17/16)
acknowledged, in a little-noted editorial on Yemen, “Experts say
the coalition would be grounded if Washington withheld its support.”
That
is to say, if the US wanted the war in Yemen to end, it would end
overnight. The “Saudi-led” coalition is only led by Saudi Arabia
in name.
Surprisingly,
in the midst of intensified coalition attacks, the New
York Times published
another rare editorial on Yemen on August
25.
In the piece, dramatically titled “The Slaughter of Children in
Yemen,” the editorial board forcefully warned of exactly what
critics have been saying for 29 months:
The
Saudi coalition—and its American enablers, who provide military
equipment, aerial refueling and targeting—simply cannot be allowed
to continue killing civilians and destroying what little is left of
Yemen. That is why it is imperative to publicly identify the
unconscionable slaughter of innocents for what it is, and to hope
that this will shame Saudi Arabia and its American backers to search
for a humane end to Yemen’s hell.
Reporters
at the Times and
elsewhere should heed this call to demonstrate journalistic
responsibility by clearly conveying their governments’
responsibility for the slaughter in Yemen—not just in editorials,
but in news articles, every time.

Guide to Avoiding Internet Censorship of Independent News Journalism
There
are lots of good strategies for beating both corporate and government
Internet censors and snoops. These range from alternatives to Google,
Yahoo, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter — to direct subscriptions to
authors and pubs — to setting up your own VPN. All are worth the
effort.
(MPN) — While Google’s
Information Age dominancehas
long been recognized to have some unsavory consequences, the massive
technology corporation has, in recent months, taken to directly
censoring content and traffic to a variety of independent media
outlets across the political spectrum — essentially muting the
voices of any site or author who does not toe the establishment line.
This
new offensive has coincided with Google efforts to clamp down on
“fake news” and “extremist” content, which – on its
subsidiary, YouTube – led to the
categorical blocking of
videos portraying war crimes and other disturbing events of the
Syrian conflict and Israel’s occupation of Palestine. Other
independent media figures, such as Luke
Rudowski and Carey Wedler,
on the popular video streaming service, saw many
of their videos demonetized.
Though
the crackdown on YouTube was more obvious, the Google search engine –
the most popular in the world – is now burying or blocking
independent media sites from its search results.
Conservatives have
long claimed that
Google was selectively targeting their content due to the personal
political bias of the company’s executives — but now, since
Google announced its new guidelines, numerous progressive,
transparency, and anti-war websites that act as watchdogs to the
establishment have seen their traffic diminish substantially.
Counterpunch,
World Socialist Website, MintPress News, Democracy Now, American
Civil Liberties Union and Wikileaks are just
a handful of
the sites that have seen massive drops in their returns from Google
searches. The World Socialist Website alone experienced a 67 percent
decrease in returns from Google following the implementation of
Google’s new algorithm targeting so-called “fake news.”
MintPress News, however, has suffered the steepest decline, having
seen a 76 percent decrease in traffic from Google since the new
algorithm was put into effect.
Google
has its reasons for choosing to censor viewpoints that clash with or
even raise questions about the official narrative. Google shares deep
connections with the U.S.’ political powerbrokers, notably with the
CIA, which originally
helped fund Google
into existence with the intention of controlling the flow of
information.
Understandably
— in light of its deep connections to those who stand the most to
lose from the actual free flow of information — Google has emerged
as a leader of the “fight” against so-called “fake news.” The
concept of “fake news” took on sudden weight following last
November’s U.S. presidential election: in the tweets and rants of
newly-elected President Donald Trump, media predictions of a Clinton
victory were ridiculed as “FAKE NEWS,” while Clinton supporters
also wound up blaming “fake news” for Clinton’s loss in the
election.
In
short order, the term became a term of derision and dismissal applied
to any and all disagreeable reporting. With the “fake news” net
cast so wide, the ground was fertile for a campaign against the
official story-challenging work of independent media — dependent
for its reach, to a far greater extent than its mainstream media
counterparts, upon the good graces of monster Internet traffic cops
such as Google.
The
following guide offers a variety of solutions and options for those
concerned with Google’s overreach and its decision to become the
Internet’s unelected “Ministry of Truth.”
Dumping
Google Search
Dominating over
80% of
global searches made on the Internet, Google’s chokehold on the
flow of information is undeniable. Now that its algorithm has been
shown to target news sites critical of the establishment on both
sides of the aisle, finding an alternative becomes an essential task
irrespective of one’s political leaning.
However,
don’t expect other brand name search engines like Microsoft’s
Bing or Yahoo to come to the rescue, as these too have
been caught censoring
search results in the past. Microsoft, in particular, is very
untrustworthy, given its eager
participation in
the NSA’s PRISM surveillance program — where it illegally shared
the Internet user data, including search queries, of U.S. citizens
without their knowledge.
Given
its willingness to cooperate with the government against the interest
of American citizens, Microsoft would be perhaps more willing even
than Google to censor access to so-called “fake news.”
Yahoo
is little better, as it too was an early adopter of the PRISM
surveillance program, second only to Microsoft. Like Microsoft,
they willingly
cooperate with
government censorship efforts – as well as the outing
of dissidents –
in other countries.
Thankfully,
as far as search engines go, there are other options available that
not only respect your privacy but also offer fairer searches,
including some features that even Google doesn’t offer.
DuckDuckGo
Of
all the viable Google alternatives, DuckDuckGo is
the most well-known, having been promoted by PCMag.com, the Guardian,
and The New York Times as a “long-term” threat to Google’s
search dominance. It was even one of the top 50 sites of 2011,
according to Time magazine.
However,
the “mainstream” accolades are, in this case, well-deserved.
DuckDuckGo is best known for its motto “the
search engine that doesn’t track you,” complete with Tor
browser functionality. While
this is a clear boon for privacy enthusiasts – or anyone concerned
about illegal NSA spying – it also results in search results that
are not filtered based on your search history. In other words, users
are more likely to be presented with search results that challenge
their existing ideas.
DuckDuckGo
also boasts an
impressive search algorithm that
excludes Google results but includes results from other well-known
search engines, mixed with the data obtained by DuckDuckGo’s
own web
crawler bot.
The results are filtered for spam and re-ordered using its trademark
“Instant Answers” platform, which places high-quality answers
above other results and advertisements. The “Instant Answers”
platform gathers answers provided by top popular websites, like
Wikipedia, in addition to community-built answers.
For
those tech-savvy users who don’t trust the spam filtering or even
the “Instant Answer” platform, these functions — as well as
DuckDuckGo itself — is open-source and also offers DuckDuckHack,
where users can create their own plug-ins for use in DuckDuckGo and
even help improve the search engine overall.
For
less savvy tech users, DuckDuckGo conveniently functions like any
other search engine, in addition to providing several features even
Google doesn’t offer. It
also has a search app for both iPhone and Android, as well as
plug-ins for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and offers support in
several languages.
Ixquick/StartPage
Ixquick is
an American/Dutch meta-search engine, meaning itsimultaneously
searches multiple
databases and other search engines,
including Google, across the Internet. It uses a “star system” to
rank search results, placing a star next to each result for every
search engine that ranks that result as one of its 10 best for a
given search. A five-star result, for example, means that five search
engines considered that result to be among the 10 most relevant.
Ixquick
— which has now merged with its subsidiary, StartPage — also
tackles the issue of privacy by not storing user-specific details
such as cookies or past search results. Like DuckDuckGo, Ixquick
offers unfiltered search results generated by Google’s
“personalized” searches. Privacy enthusiasts may recognize
Ixquick as the default search engine for the Tor browser.
Ixquick
is supported in 17 languages and offers a plug-in for Mozilla
Firefox. They also offer a privacy-minded, encrypted email server
called StartMail.
Gibiru
Gibiru,
like the aforementioned search engines, prides itself on offering
maximum privacy. It avoids tracking its users by providing anonymous
and encrypted searches. It describes itself as “the preferred
Search Engine for Patriots” and offers non-personalized, anonymous
web results while emphasizing the disdain of its developers for the
NSA. Part of what sets Gibiru apart is its claim to offer
“uncensored” searches, as their web crawlers intentionally
include pages that Google has blocked or buried in its search
results.
Gibiru
also has a unique feature called “Uncensored News.” In addition
to aggregating results from other search engines, Gibiru adds its own
algorithm that specifically looks for results from independent media
outlets, particularly those that tend to “promote ‘alternative’
views from the mainstream.”
Recognizing
that mainstream media results are picked up by Google and Bing,
Gibiru does not use its bandwidth searching through these results.
Even up-and-coming independent media sites can gain inclusion in
Uncensored News results by communicating with the Gibiru team.
Gibiru
offers both a toolbar and a plugin for Mozilla Firefox.
Subscribe
directly to your favorite pages
Though
the above search engines can assist in more accurate and less
censored internet searches, the best way to get news you trust is
directly from the source. Anyone who reads independent media
eventually develops preferences for certain sites and authors whose
content they consistently find reliable and interesting.
If
you are concerned with Google’s clampdown on independent media, the
most surefire way to ensure your access to the sites you enjoy is by
subscribing directly to them via email. Most independent media pages
offer you the option to subscribe to their mailing lists, where you
receive their top stories on a daily basis. Some pages charge for
subscriptions, but most – such as MintPress
News’ Daily Digest –
are free and allow you to unsubscribe at any time. Some websites,
including MintPress, also
offer apps for
Android or iPhone, which allow users direct and convenient access to
the content of those pages.
If
you are concerned that all of the newsletters and stories of the
pages you want to follow will clutter your email, there are several
good options. Some mail servers allow you to label certain types of
incoming mail, and creating a specific label for “news” can
streamline the process of following all of your favorite pages in one
place. Alternatively, you can create an email account dedicated to
news in order to keep it separate from email accounts more focused on
work or socializing.
In
some cases, however, your favorite writers may not regularly publish
in the same place, making their work difficult to follow via email
subscription. Many authors have either their own web pages dedicated
to their work or publish on websites such as Medium —
a site offering both free and premium membership options, that hosts
the writings of many big names in independent news from across the
political spectrum.
Signing
up for Medium allows you to follow any writer you like, even
mainstream ones – a boon, for instance, if you like a certain
writer at, say, The Wall Street Journal but don’t trust the paper
as a whole. Certain popular writers in independent media — such
Nafeez Ahmed’s Insurge
Intelligence —
even publish some of their biggest stories exclusively on Medium.

Facebook’s moderation system, which combines an automated flagging system with limited human oversight, has consistently drawn criticism, once banning a satirical account which criticized U.S. military spending.(AP/Czarek Sokolowski)
Though
some may value their Facebook account for keeping in touch with
friends and family, the social media giant is quickly becoming
unreliable for receiving news content posted by your friends as well
as the people or pages you follow. Facebook and Twitter have each
been caught censoring on several occasions and both now openly patrol
for “fake news” and “hate speech” — burying stories that
users would otherwise see, based on the recommendations of Facebook
or Twitter-approved flaggers. Many of these flaggers have been found
to publish “fake news” themselves or have a strong bias against
particular viewpoints, particularly those critical of conservative
politics.
Just
as with Google, Facebook and Twitter users can no longer be sure that
their newsfeeds contain the news they want to read, just as content
creators and publishers can no longer expect the same scope and reach
they once enjoyed on social media.
Unfortunately,
the alternatives to Facebook and Twitter are few and lack the large
user communities that make a social network successful. However,
there are two notable sites that are attempting to change that.
One
of those sites is Steemit. Steemit is
a social media platform that runs a blogging and social network
website built on top of a blockchain database. Steemit now boasts a
decently sized community, though it hardly compares to Facebook in
terms of daily users. Part of its success has been due to the site’s
commitment to paying users for creating and curating popular content
on the site.
Per the site’s system, users receive digital points (“Steem”)
depending on the success of their posts, which they can exchange for
more tangible rewards or payment via online exchanges. With $1 of
Steem now
worth just
over $4 USD, some people have found using Steemit to be both socially
and economically beneficial.
Another
potential Facebook competitor is Minds —
anopen
source, encrypted, and community-owned social network site that
values free speech and
doesn’t bow to government or advertiser pressure. It hosts
individual user profiles and blogs and creates an unfiltered
newsfeed for its users.
Members
can even be paid for posting their content if it garners a
significant number of views and upvotes. Although at present the
Minds community is tiny compared to that of Facebook, it may in years
to come become a more popular alternative, as Facebook continues to
disappoint.
Avoiding
outright censorship if and when It happens
While
censorship has long
been a reality in
countries like China, Western governments like to tout themselves as
being the guardians of freedom and the free flow of information. But
many of these governments, particularly the United States, have come
to realize in recent years that they are on
the losing side of
the “information war,” as trust in the corporate-owned media and
the government itself has sunk to historic lows.
Though
Western governments have, so far, outsourced censorship to technology
companies like Google and Facebook, there is little reason to believe
that these governments will refrain from demanding the outright
censorship of information that doesn’t toe the official line.
Take,
for example, the recent rhetoric of U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May
who, in the wake of the Manchester bombing, has pushed for censoring
“extremist propaganda” online. May’s assertion concerned
internet watchdog groups,
who likened her proposals to China’s widespread censorship of the
Internet.
If
official government censorship comes to your country – or if you
suspect that it is already there – the easiest workaround is
setting up a virtual private network, or VPN. A VPN allows you to use
your computer as though it were connected to a network other than the
one you actually use. In the event of government censorship in your
country, a VPN allows you to virtually connect to a network set up in
another country where such censorship is not in effect. Using a VPN
has the added bonus of greater Internet privacy — as effective VPN
protocols encrypt your traffic, helping to protect you from
government surveillance as well as censorship.
VPNs
are provided by VPN service providers, not all of whom are created
equal. VPN providers with good reputations include Strong VPN,
SurfEasy, and TunnelBear. Of these, TunnelBear is the least
expensive – offering a free service – and SurfEasy the most

Het is meer dan duidelijk dat de reguliere westerse (massa-) media liever ‘fake news’ brengen, dan de waarheid te vertellen….. Zo was de hysterie in diezelfde media (en bij die politici) enorm tijdens de bevrijding van Oost-Aleppo door het reguliere Syrische leger en de Russen, waar men de leugens van de ‘gematigde rebellen’ (lees: psychopathische moordenaars en verkrachters), verwoord door het SOHR en de White Helmets, als waarheid oplepelde…..
Dit terwijl diezelfde Russen en Syriërs al 2 maanden voor de uiteindelijke bevrijding van Aleppo besloten te stoppen met luchtbombardementen, dit om zoveel mogelijk burgerslachtoffers te voorkomen….. Iets dat amper of meestal niet de westerse massamedia haalde….. Dezelfde media die nu niet melden, dat de VS de oproep van meerdere landen en VN inspecteurs heeft genegeerd, oproepen te stoppen met het bombarderen van Raqqa, ook dit om zoveel mogelijk burgerslachtoffers te voorkomen……
Mad dog Mattis, de psychopaat die onder Trump minister van Defensie mag spelen, zei nadat een VN inspecteur van oorlogsmisdaden de VS waarschuwde voor de vele doden die het maakt in Raqqa en de VS regering opriep te stoppen met het bombarderen van het dicht bewoonde Raqqa: “Zo is het leven…..” Daarmee gaf hij aan er niet aan te denken te stoppen met die bombardementen……..
Shahtahmasebi spreekt ook nog over Amnesty International, lullig genoeg is AI niet te vertrouwen als het om Syrie gaat, ook zij hebben zich in het recente verleden verlaten op rapporten van het SOHR en de bewezen terroristische White Helmets. Dat AI nu eindelijk ook de VS aanklaagt voor oorlogsmisdaden (die wel bewezen kunnen worden) is hooguit een verbetering te noemen……..
Zoals al vaker op deze plek gevraagd: waarom wordt de VS niet aangeklaagd voor het Internationaal Strafhof?? Een land en de verantwoordelijken (inclusief Obama) aanklagen voor grootschalige oorlogsmisdaden (zoals het bombarderen van burgerdoelen en ziekenhuizen), kan ook zonder dat zo’n land het Strafhof erkent!! Airstrikes Are Wiping Out Entire Families in Yemen and Syria
(ANTIMEDIAOp-ed)—The
United States is killing entire families in Raqqa, Syria, and
enabling Saudi Arabia to do the same in Yemen.
In
June of this year, the U.S. led a campaign to retake the city of
Raqqa from ISIS fighters while the Russian and Syrian militaries were
also attempting to
do the same thing. In the first week of fighting, U.N. war crimes
investigators warned that
the U.S. had already killed 300 civilians from air strikes alone in
that seven day period.
Rather
than heed that warning, the U.S. has continued the same strategy of
pounding Raqqa into the ground despite the likelihood of civilian
casualties. Pentagon chief James “Mad Dog”
Mattis has dismissed this
horror as a mere “fact of life” — a very easy decision to make
when the fighting doesn’t concern one’s own relatives. Not to
mention that Donald Trump relaxed the
rules surrounding air strikes earlier this year, meaning military
generals on the ground (including Iraqi
forces,
for example) can call in airstrikes from the ground with zero
oversight.
The
result, the Interceptreports,
is that entire families are being massacred by U.S.-led air strikes.
“We
have seen incidents in which entire families have been wiped out. The
scale of things is increasing significantly,” said
Alex Hopkins, a researcher at AirWars.
According
to Hopkins, there has been a “worrying increase in the rate
of mass casualty incidents” in recent weeks, and
disproportionate numbers of children are being reported killed in
U.S.-led air strikes.
As
the Intercept noted,
Raqqa is home to very few die-hard ISIS supporters who are fighting
to the death to defend its de-facto capital, whereas
an estimated 160,000
civilians remain trapped in the crossfire of the city’s fighting.
The Intercept also
spoke to witnesses and activists by phone who explained incidents of
widespread civilian deaths at the hands of U.S. air strikes. These
activists oppose ISIS and are based in Raqqa, according to
the Intercept,
and their identities remain confidential.
“The
planes hit the street where he [father] was walking to go home. There
were no ISIS members or headquarters in that street, my father was
only 50 meters from home. I wished that he had hurried home that
night, but he was too old and it took him time,” one
activist said of his father’s death in June.
Drawing
on research from Amnesty International and Airwars,
the Intercept describes many other instances in
which entire families were wiped out:
“For
instance, a coalition airstrike in Raqqa City on August 14 killed a
mother, Nahla Hamoud Al-Aran al-Shehab,and her
three children,Marwa,
Ahmed, and Mariam. Three days later, another strike killed 30
membersof
the al-Sayer family, including several children. On August 21, yet
another attack killed eight membersof
the Al-Aliwi family, internally displaced refugees who had previously
fled from fighting in their home city of Palmyra.
“Amnesty
International researchers also visited a farmhouse in the
Hukumya-Salhiya area northwest of Raqqa, where 14
people were reportedly killed in a coalition attack before the
campaign to take the city officially began.
Amnesty found fragments of GPS-guided American munitions, and judged
that ‘from the pattern of destruction there seems little doubt that
the house was destroyed by air strikes.’” [emphasis
added]
In
its most recent report,
Amnesty International also explains a scenario in which one Syrian
lost her mother, sisters, nephews and nieces “for no reason at
all.”
“The
planes were circling all night, and we could not even approach the
house to get the two injured children out from under the rubble until
the following day,” said
another member of the family who witnessed the attack. “The
bodies were in shreds. We recovered body parts hundreds of meters
away.”
Up
until the beginning of June, the U.S. only had
two personnel investigating
casualties in Iraq and Syria full-time. As the Intercept notes,
the U.S. military rarely conducts interviews with survivors and
regularly discounts the majority of reports on civilian deaths as
“non-credible.” This makes it incredibly difficult to verify the
exact number of civilian deaths, but it also demonstrates America’s
shockingly non-existent commitment to international law. The U.S.
military may boast that it takes the utmost care to protect
civilians, but are we just supposed to take their word for it?
One
should also bear in mind that when Amnesty International
releases evidence condemning
a U.S. arch rival, such as Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the U.S.
government jumps
all over it.
When the tables turn, suddenly these reports of civilian deaths are
“non-credible.”
And
make no mistake – as horrifying as the terror being inflicted on
Raqqa is, what is occurring in Raqqa right now is not
taking place in isolation.
The U.S. is delivering this disturbing criminality all over the
world. In Yemen, the Saudi-led coalition, which is armed,
trained, and protected by
the United States and the United Kingdom, is doing the exact same
thing.
A
recent airstrike in Yemen saw an entire family murdered; only one
four-year-old girl survived. The New
York Times reported the
story with the headline “Young Yemen Girl Is Sole Survivor After
Airstrike Topples Her Home.” The word “topple” suggests an NFL
sports-like scenario. In comparison, when reporting on Russia’s
bombing of Aleppo in 2016, the New
York Times regularly
used terms like “scorch”
and “brutal,”
words that were conveniently not employed this time around.
Just
days ago, the Saudi-led coalition struck
a hotel near
Yemen’s capital, killing at least 60 people with two dead bodies
hanging from the upper floor. These kinds of attacks seem to be
occurring daily, and no
target is off-limits for
the coalition.
The
U.S. has already been
warned that
its support for the war in Yemen could attract serious legal
consequences, and despite this, Yemen is clearly not the only
location where the U.S. is rolling out this criminal strategy.
One
of Trump’s campaign pledges was that he would not only bomb the
shit out of ISIS via attacking their oil fields but that
he would
kill their families too.
Even if every single family member documented above was related in
some way, shape, or form to a member of ISIS, these acts are still
legally and morally repugnant and should be condemned in the
strongest terms. As such, the only evidence at hand shows these
civilians were completely innocent, which makes their deaths wholly
inexcusable — particularly when they occur on such a large scale.
Unfortunately,
one can’t rely on the mass media or governmental institutions to do
their job and hold their militaries to account, especially when the
media is more concerned with what Trump tweets as opposed to how many
hundreds of children he is killing in the Middle East.
In
that regard, it is probably quite time for the media to review its
priorities.
(ANTIWAR.COM) — Heavy US airstrikes in densely populated residential areas have, throughout the ISIS war, proven a recipe for massive civilian casualties. This is increasingly the prevailing theme in the ISIS capital of Raqqa, where US strikes are killing many hundreds of civilians.
Earlier this week, at least 100 civilians were killed in a span on 48 hours in Raqqa. Observers put the figure at 168 in the past 10 days, and 458 in US airstrikes against the city since June, including 134 children.
These strikes are meant to support the Kurdish invasion of Raqqa, but the fact that they are pounding residential districts in a war-torn city means that a lot of what they’re hitting are buildings packed with civilian bystanders.
The Pentagon has continued the defend the practice, insisting they are the most careful military in history about civilian casualties, and pointing to their own official bodycounts, which are usually less than 10% of the number documented by NGOs.
Perhaps even more importantly, these strikes really aren’t doing much to support the Kurdish invasion, as the Kurdish forces have been described as holding about 45% of the city for the last several weeks, and despite a marked increase in US strikes and civilian deaths, don’t seem to be making any progress.
The UN is even pushing the US to halt its airstrikes against the city indefinitely, saying another 20,000 civilians should be allowed to flee without fearing being a target of US airstrikes. There is, as yet, no indication that is being seriously considered.
Gisteren veel aandacht op de BBC (en andere nationale zenders in NW-Europa, uiteraard aangevuld met Frankrijk) voor de moord op ‘prinses’ Diana, precies 20 jaar geleden.
Op de BBC World Service radio, werd door de dag heen, bij mijn weten,1 keer kort gemeld dat Diana zich heeft ingezet tegen landmijnen. Onder andere door de inzet van Diana werd in 1997 het Verdrag van Ottawa gesloten, waarin 127 landen tekenden voor een verbod op het gebruik, productie en verspreiding van landmijnen. Landen die weigerden waren o.a. de VS, Israël, China, Rusland en India.
In eerste instantie zou je het uitermate vreemd kunnen noemen, die geringe aandacht voor de prestaties van Diana, zeker daar ze in eigen land en internationaal zo gevierd was…… Echter bij nader inzien is het niet zo heel vreemd, immers de BBC is verworden tot een propaganda orgaan van en voor de zittende regering, dit vanwege de angst te worden geminimaliseerd door terugtrekking van subsidies……
De Britse regering staat nog steeds het gebruik, de productie en verspreiding van clustermunitie toe. Dit heeft er o.a. toe geleid dat GB grote hoeveelheden clustermunitie heeft geleverd aan Saoedi-Arabië, die deze bommen heeft gebruikt en zoals het zich laat aanzien, nog steeds gebruikt tegen de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. Dezelfde bevolking die S-A middels een genocide om zeep wil helpen…….. Door deze bommen zijn ook in Jemen veel kinderen om het leven gekomen, dan wel voor het leven verminkt…….
Triest dat de zoons van Diana, Harry en William, in het Britse leger hebben gediend, het teken dat ze schijt hebben aan wat hun moeder daar van vond……….. Vergelijk dat eens met hun hypocriete gedrag van de laatste maanden, waarin ze zichzelf beklaagden vanwege het verlies van hun moeder, zogenaamd de oorzaak voor hun misdragingen in het verleden……..
Het is op zeker, dat Diana zich ook tegen het gebruik van clustermunitie zou hebben gekeerd. Echter dat is een boodschap die, zoals gezegd, de Britse overheid en het militair-industrieel complex niet wensen te horen…………..
Oh, u vraagt zich af wat de toevoeging ‘moord’ doet in de kop? Simpel, u gelooft toch niet dat Diana omkwam in een noodlottig ongeval? Als je het militair-industriële complex zo tegen de haren instrijkt, is de dood dichterbij dan je logischerwijs zou denken…… Diana heeft deze industrie minstens een miljard aan inkomsten gekost……. Bovendien kwam haar dood het Britse regering en de belastinguitvreters van het koningshuis erg goed uit! Zij hadden het helemaal gehad met Diana, die naar de zin van het geteisem teveel uit de school klapte (waar de Britse regering uiteraard ook pissig was over de bemoeienis van Diana met moordtuig als landmijnen, die de Britse overheid op belastinggebied geen windeieren legde, precies zoals dit geldt voorde Britse export van clustermunitie…)……..
De campagne om prins Harry en William, de zonen van prinses Diana, die op z’n zachtst gezegd, nogal een scheve schaatsen hebben gereden, is de laatste maanden niet te missen op BBC World Service radio……. Daarbij kunnen de prinsen (het is 2017… ha! ha!) er maar geen genoeg van krijgen, de media op te laten draven om te vertellen over hun verdriet na de dood van hun moeder………
De twee zijn in het verleden zoals gezegd nogal in opspraak zijn geweest en met hun ‘geëmotioneerde verhalen’ proberen de prinsen aan te tonen dat hun scheve levenswandel tot nu toe, het gevolg is van het verlies van hun moeder……..
Eén van de reden tot het keer op keer herhalen van deze emoties kan natuurlijk ook het gevolg zijn dat de campagne niet aanslaat………. Precies als in Nederland*, doet het grootste deel van de reguliere media in Groot-Brittannië haar uiterste best het koningshuis de hemel in te prijzen, terwijl heel veel Britten deze belastinguitvreters liever zien gaan dan komen……..
Daar moet ik aan toevoegen dat het overmorgen 20 jaar geleden is dat Diana omkwam bij een ‘auto-ongeluk’, u snapt het al: het hek is nu helemaal van de dam……….
Het vreemde in GB is dan weer dat juist de dood van prinses Diana en alles daaromheen, het Britse volk pas echt heeft doen walgen van het koningshuis………
Een paar uur na publicatie toegevoegd aan dit bericht: de BBC heeft een documentaire laten maken met de naam ‘Diana 7 days’, ‘uiteraard’ met bijdragen van de prinsen Harry en William……………..
De verhalen van Harry en William? Valse emoties mensen, valse emoties om het volk te lokken voor het koningshuis……… Zoals de suïcide van Kars Tates in Apeldoorn het sein was voor de politiek en de media om het koningshuis als slachtoffers af te schilderen en te liegen (‘fake nieuws’) dat Tates een aanslag pleegde op de bus met het koningshuis……. Terwijl je op video overduidelijk kon zien, dat Tates op het monument afreed, terwijl de bus met het koningshuis de tegenovergestelde kant op draaide en dat op afstand van een meter of 30……….
* Bijvoorbeeld de landelijke radio en nieuwszenders (Radio1 en BNR) stellen keer op keer dat het koningshuis ongelofelijk populair is, hoewel onderzoeken niet zelden het tegenovergestelde laten zien. In de praktijk kon je e.e.a. zien na de dood van Johan Friso: iets meer dan 20.000 (!!!) Nederlanders namen de moeite het nationale condoleance register te tekenen (en het zal me niet verbazen, als daar aardig wat niet-Nederlanders tussen zaten…)……
PS: schandalig dat Groot-Brittannië nog steeds clustermunitie verkoopt, terwijl Diana zich ook tegen dit vuile moorddadige oorlogstuig had gekeerd…….. Onder andere de reli-fascistische dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië (naast de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël), de grootste terreurstaat in het Midden-Oosten, krijgt clusterbommen uit GB geleverd……. Saoedi-Arabië, u weet wel, het land dat een genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen uitvoert……… S-A hetzelfde land waar na de dood van de vorige dictator in 2015, Willem Alexander en PvdA hufter Koenders afreisden om diens begrafenis bij te wonen……….. Vandaar ook geen commentaar als Saoedi-Arabië de beest uithangt…….
Afgelopen zaterdag op WDR 5 rond 12.50 u. het bericht dat Stephen O’Brian die als Vice-Secretaris-Generaal van de VN over humanitaire zaken en noodhulp gaat, heeft gesteld dat Saoedi-Arabië verantwoordelijk is voor de helft van de dodelijke kinderslachtoffers in Jemen………
Waar de VN precies vanuit gaat is onduidelijk, daar de VS niet wil dat het rapport openbaar wordt gemaakt. Volgens Jason Ditz op ANTIWAR zou het gaan om in totaal 502 kinderen waarvan 349 kinderen zijn omgekomen bij bombardementen (op scholen, ziekenhuizen en woonwijken, Ap)……
Daar Saoedi-Arabië en haar coalitiegenoten die mee bombarderen (VAE, Egypte en volgens zeggen Marokko) niet bekend maken wie er heeft gebombardeerd, zou de helft van die kinderen dus zijn vermoord door de coalitiegenoten………
Het rapport spreekt o.a. over het bombarderen van scholen, 28 stuks en wil dat de Saoedische coalitie daarom op de zwarte lijst van landen wordt gezet, die kinderen in oorlog vermoorden, dan wel zwaar verwonden. U begrijpt dat dit niet zal gebeuren, daar steekt de VS met de rest van het westen op sleeptouw, een dikke stok voor…….
Ook in Nederland kijken de media en het grootste deel van de politici (als PvdA hufter Koenders) weg van alle ellende in Jemen en wordt S-A en haar fascistische moorddadige coalitie voluit gesteund door de VS en GB en wordt dit land geen strobreed in de weg gelegd bij het uitvoeren van een genocide in Jemen……..
Overigens vermoed ik, dat het werkelijke aantal vermoorde kinderen in Jemen veel hoger ligt dan 502……… Neem alleen al de cholera uitbraak en de hongersnood in dit land, de eerste slachtoffers daarvan zijn altijd kinderen en de zwakkere volwassenen, zoals ouderen…….. Beide, dus hongersnood en cholera zijn één op één te danken aan de agressie van Saoedi-Arabië (en de VS dat S-A op zee helpt bij de blokkade voor humanitaire hulp t.b.v. Jemen…)…….
Nogmaals: Saoedi-Arabië en haar coalitie voltrekken een genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. Waar de VS en GB Saoedi-Arabië voorzien van munitie (waaronder clusterbommen), wapens, wapensystemen, helikopters enz. enz,, uiteraard aangevuld met militaire training. De VS vecht intussen openlijk mee op Jemenitisch grondgebied, dit aan de zijde van S-A, zogenaamd tegen Al Qaida, terwijl de (sjiitische) Houthi’s, tegen wie S-A vecht, juist succesvol waren in de bestrijding van Al Qaida en IS………..

UN
Report: Saudi Arabia Killed 502 Children in Yemen in Past Year

draft version of a new UN Security Council report on the Saudi War in
Yemen has been obtained by Foreign
Policy, who are reportingthat
it accuses the Saudi coalition of “grave violations” of human
rights, particularly against children in Yemen.
The
report covered the past year, and counted 502 children killed by the
Saudis, including 349 killed in airstrikes. It also noted that the
Saudi coalition had bombing at least 28 schools over the time. It
encourages the inclusion of the coalition on the blacklist of nations
that kill and maim children in war.
The
Saudi coalition was
included on that blacklist in 2016,
at least originally, though after Saudi Arabia demanded changes, on
the grounds that the UN had endorsed their 2015 invasion, the UN
quietly removed them
from the blacklist.
Whether
this leads to a similar exchange this year is unclear, though reports
suggest the US is keen to keep the UN report from being officially
released, and is demanding that the UN remove the coalition as a
whole, and instead only mention specific nations involved in specific
strikes. Since the coalition never provides information about whose
country’s planes are conducting attacks, this effectively would
preclude mentioning any of the airstrikes at all.
Jemen is voor de sjiitische bevolking veranderd in een hel op aarde, al een paar jaar lang is buurland Saoedi-Arabië bezig met een genocide in Jemen, terwijl de wereld wegkijkt…….. Hysterie alom in de westerse reguliere media en bij het grootste deel van de westerse politici, als de eerste beste leugen over Syrië hen bereikt en waarin wordt gerept dat ‘de troepen van Assad’ kinderen hebben vermoord….. Leugens daar het bewijs keer op keer niet getoond kan worden en waar na onderzoek van video’s, zoals die van de White Helmets*,blijkt dat of het verhaal niet klopt, of dat deze video’s regelmatig niet eens in Syrië werden opgenomen…… Hetzelfde geldt voor gemanipuleerd fotomateriaal……
Aan de andere kant is er in Jemen de vreselijke terreur van Saoedi-Arabië en haar arabische bondgenoten, met hulp van de VS en Groot-Brittannië, die intussen een hongersnood(1 op de 3 kinderen dreigt om te komen van de honger) en een cholera uitbraak hebben veroorzaakt (intussen meer dan 1.800 doden….)…….. Dit werd veroorzaakt door het blokkeren van de doorvoer van hulpgoederen en het bombarderen van ziekenhuizen, woonwijken (waarbij de rioleringen werden en worden vernietigd), waterzuiveringsinstallaties. elektriciteitscentrales, scholen enz. enz…….. Voor deze terreur (en overduidelijke oorlogsmisdaden) zijn overweldigende bewijzen, zoals o.a. de foto’s in het volgende artikel van Anti-Media aantonen…… Echter daarvoor heeft men geen belangstelling in het westen……..
De VN bracht vorige week een rapport uit, waarin wordt gesteld, dat er in Jemen het afgelopen jaar 502 kinderen zijn omgekomen door Saoedisch geweld, een behoorlijk lage schatting als je het mij vraagt (als ik de tijd kan vinden, later aandacht voor dit rapport).

met with a collective yawn the next.
Unfortunately,
for the innocent people of Yemen, the masses are completely
uninterested in their current state of suffering. Maybe it’s
because Western propaganda hasn’t sufficiently signaled in the
direction of the misery and destruction facing the Yemeni people.
Maybe it’s that the havoc is being carried out by Saudi Arabia and
their cohorts, who are not only allies of the United States and the
United Kingdom but also have the financial
means to silence dissent in
the West. Possibly, it’s that the U.S. and the U.K. are both
backing the carnage on
the ground in Yemen, not only via the providing
of arms to
the Saudi coalition but also providing
military ground support.
Whatever
the reason may be, the time has come for the world to wake up and
realize there is more on planet earth than Donald Trump’s Twitter
account.
Thousands
upon thousands
have been killed,
maimed, or displaced in the Middle Eastern nation since the conflict
began in 2015. Since April, 1,800 Yemenis have
died from cholera and
nearly 370,000 have contracted it. That figure is expected to rise to
600,000.
Below

Waar blijft de disfunctionerend PvdA minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Koenders nu met zijn gemaakte boosheid??? Het is ten overvloede nog eens duidelijk gemaakt, geen interesse in het westen voor het schenden van mensenrechten, zelfs een aan de gang zijnde genocide kan het westen niet doen opschrikken…… Kijk als het ‘vijanden van het westen’ betreft, die mensenrechten zouden hebben geschonden, staat de hele zooi op de hypocriete kop…………
Saoedi-Arabië, haar arabische steun, de VS en GB zouden onverwijld moeten worden aangeklaagd bij het Internationale Strafhof in Den Haag!!
Ongelofelijk maar waar: de Saoedische terreurcoalitie heeft het aantal bombardementen op Jemen fiks verhoogd t.o.v. vorig jaar….. In 2016 telde de VN 3.936 bombardementen (door hoofdzakelijk de Saoedische luchtmacht), dat zijn er dit jaar tot nu toe al 5.676…!!!!
Terwijl Saoedi-Arabië een genocide uitvoert op de sjiieten in Jemen, is de wereld doodstil….. 500.000 kinderen (!!!) lijden aan ernstige ondervoeding……. De VS helpt S-A met de blokkade op zee, waar S-A dit ook op het vasteland doet, zodat humanitaire goederen de hongerende bevolking van Jemen niet kan bereiken….. Ook aan medicijnen is een groot gebrek, terwijl een groot aantal mensen in Jemen is besmet met cholera……. Cholera ontstaan door de bombardementen van S-A op watertoevoer, rioleringen (die worden vernield bij bombardementen op burgerdoelen als huizen, appartementscomplexen e.d.), zuiveringsinstallaties en elektriciteitscentrales………. Daardoor is er ook een tekort aan drinkwater in Jemen……..
Op 26 juli jl. stond de teller van het aantal cholerabesmettingen in Jemen op 380.000 (!!!), waar er dagelijks een fiks aantal aan worden toegevoegd……. Vergeet daarnaast niet, dat S-A een groot aantal ziekenhuizen in Jemen heeft gebombardeerd, met stille toestemming van het westen, daar het doel de sjiitische bevolking is en zoals u weet, Iran is sjiitisch en ‘Iran valt het ene na het andere land aan, niet de VS met de NAVO aan de hand…….’ Nee, ‘Iran viel illegaal Afghanistan aan na 11 september 2001, Irak in 2003, Libië en Syrië in 2011…… De Twin Towers stonden tenslotte in Iran, of vergis ik me nu???? Alsof IS, Al Qaida met al haar terroristische onderafdelingen in Syrië en andere landen, bestaan uit sjiieten i.p.v. soennieten………
Als ‘fake news’ (‘nepnieuws’) orgaan de Washington Post en andere reguliere westerse (massa-) media met een leugen komen, dat de Syrische troepen 10 kinderen hebben omgebracht, staan de VS en de rest van reguliere westerse media op haar kop en schreeuwen politici als de zwaar disfunctionerende PvdA jaknikker Koenders om maatregelen tegen het democratisch gekozen Syrische bewind, waarbij ze de kop van Assad eisen…… Maar als er daadwerkelijk een genocide wordt uitgevoerd door S-A (met hulp van o.a. de VS en Groot-Brittannië) in Jemen, o.a. middels bombardementen van burgerdoelen, kijken de westerse media en politici de andere kant op………. Bombardementen op een land waar 500.000 kinderen in levensgevaar verkeren, ja waar er zelfs al een fiks aantal van is overleden, een land waar mensen overlijden aan cholera…….
Nu blijkt dus, dat Saoedi-Arabië ook nog eens het aantal bombardementen op de sjiieten in Jemen sterk heeft verhoogd…….

Increasing Yemen Airstrikes, Killing More Civilians
This
has turned an already catastrophic humanitarian situation, with
thousands killed in airstrikes, into an ever-mounting disaster, with
the new strikes killing yet more civilians, and strikes so intense in
some areas as to displace much of the civilian population elsewhere
in the country.
Aid
group Oxfam estimated that over 500,000 children in Yemen are already
suffering from “severe malnutrition” because of the blockade, and
there are no signs of that situation improving any time soon. Indeed,
Hodeidah, the last port that has access to the country’s north, is
nearly constantly under siege, with the Saudis seeking to transfer it
to the control of the country’s southern government.
De ellende in Jemen, veroorzaakt door de reli-fascistische terreurdictatuur Saoedi-Arabië en haar coalitie, gesteund door de VS en Groot-Brittannië, is niet meer te overzien: honger en cholera zijn zaken die door de acties van S-A, de VS en GB het voortbestaan van honderdduizenden in gevaar hebben gebracht……..
Met de Saoedische blokkades op land en met steun van de VS op zee, zijn opzettelijk tekorten aan voedsel, medicijnen, water en brandstof gecreëerd……… Daarmee werd de bodem gelegd voor een enorme hongersnood* en een cholera uitbraak…… Daarover gesproken: S-A heeft het overgrote deel van de Jemenitische ziekenhuizen in Houthi gebied weggebombardeerd, precies als de watervoorziening (de oorzaak voor de cholera uitbraak), dit nog naast weggebombardeerde elektriciteitscentrales en scholen…..
De enige manier waarop er nog hulpgoederen Jemen binnen gebracht konden worden, was via de luchthaven van Sanaa. Daar heeft Saoedi-Arabië een eind aan gemaakt, door dit vliegveld herhaaldelijk te bombarderen, een oorlogsmisdaad van enorme proporties, of zeg maar ‘gewoon’ grootschalige terreur…… Aanvoer van hulpgoederen uit Iran en van de VN, werden op deze manier onmogelijk gemaakt………. Volgens het Jemenitische ministerie van Volksgezondheid zijn door het onbruikbaar zijn van dit vliegveld het laatste jaar al minstens 10.000 doden gevallen……..
Het is van een ongelofelijke onbeschoftheid dat er aan deze smerige, in feite illegale oorlog** zo weinig aandacht wordt besteed in de reguliere westerse media en dat er amper of geen kritiek is te horen van westerse politici (als de wezenloze PvdA kwast Koenders, die zich doodstil houdt in deze). Als Putin een scheet laat, slaan de westerse reguliere media en politici, inclusief Koenders, op hol, ook al is het e.e.a. keer op keer op leugens gebaseerd, neem de situatie in Syrië……
Op 2 oktober 2015 durfde Koenders kritiek te hebben op de mensenrechtensituatie in Jemen, waar hij niet één keer Saoedi-Arabië durfde te noemen, hier de link naar het overheidsbericht daarover: ‘Koenders: ernstige zorgen over mensenrechtensituatie Jemen‘ (een ongelofelijk staaltje hypocriet gelul!). In datzelfde jaar ging Koenders met het nationale waterhoofd Willem Alexander naar de begrafenis van de overleden dictatorkoning en moordenaar in S-A………
Vergeet bij dit alles niet, dat de sjiitische Houthi rebellen succes hadden in de bestrijding van Al Qaida en IS, terreurgroepen die van Al-Hadi** onderdak kregen in Jemen, zodat ze de sjiitische bevolking konden terroriseren en uitroeien (uiteraard onder goedkeuring van S-A)…………. De VS is nu officieel op Jemenitische bodem, zogenaamd om Al Qaida te bestrijden, terwijl ze in Jemen al geheime terreuracties uitvoerden tegen de Houthi rebellen, dit nog naast het beschieten van Houthi posities met raketten vanaf marineschepen………. Om nog maar te zwijgen van de illegale standrechtelijke executies op Houthi rebellen door VS drones….. Dit alles is het onweerlegbare bewijs voor grootschalige VS terreur!! ‘Het land’ wier politici regelmatig de kont wordt schoongelikt door Koenders (en de rest van het waardeloze afbraakkabinet Rutte 2)…….

Closure of Airport Has Likely Killed 10,000 Civilians in the Last
Year

Saudi war in Yemen has killed a lot of civilians in a lot of
different ways. Airstrikes, food shortages, and a massive cholera
epidemic have been the big, well-documented problems. The closure of
the Sanaa Airport hasn’t gotten nearly so much attention by
comparison.
But
it should. While the Saudis were blockading the Yemeni coast, keeping
humanitarian aid out, they’ve also ensured the Sanaa Airport is all
but unusable, preventing aid shipments to the capital, and preventing
the evacuation of the sick and wounded for treatment.
the
UN can’t get to the airport reliably, because the naval blockade is
preventing shipments of fuel to refuel the planes and allow them to
get back out again. To the extent the airport was open before that,
it was very limited, and early in the war, the Saudis bombed the
airport to prevent an aid plane from Iran from landing.
Aid
groups say the lack of travel is a growing problem, and it likely
will be increasingly so because of the cholera epidemic. Getting out
of the country to seek treatment means 10-20 hour drives to coast or
to a smaller airport, and usually means a dangerous trip through
active war zones.
