Zomaar
een bericht van Hebron Freedom Fund over een 28 jarige man met het syndroom van
Down, gearresteerd door ‘dappere’ Israëlische militairen…….

Naast
het opzettelijk vermoorden van kinderen, ziet het psychopathische uiterst gewelddadige Israëlische leger
bij tijd en wijle de kans schoon om ook invaliden te vermoorden, dan
wel zwaar te verwonden…..

Onlangs heeft datzelfde Israëlische leger zelfs
een man met het syndroom van Down gearresteerd, zijn hand gebroken en
hem na 3 dagen pas weer vrij gelaten………

Hoe
is het godverdomme mogelijk dat er nog steeds mensen zijn die zich
blijkbaar wel kunnen vinden in alle terreur die de fascistische

Mahmoud Zayed with special needs (down syndrom) was brutally arrested
by the Israeli army in the Bab-al-Zawiah area in Hebron right
near the checkpoint to enter Shuhada Street. During his arrest, the
soldiers broke his hand. Mahmoud was held for three days before
finally being released.

Vanmorgen op BBC World Service radio (rond 8.25 u.) een minutenlang verslag over een jongen met het syndroom van Down, die door de Zweedse politie werd doodgeschoten, daar deze jongen, die op het niveau van een 3 jarige leefde, met een speelgoedpistooltje op straat liep….. Inderdaad een schande, maar waarom kan de BBC geen aandacht schenken aan de barbaarse behandeling van een Palestijnse man met hetzelfde syndroom…?? Alan
Macleod schreef afgelopen vrijdag een artikel op FAIR, waarin hij uitlegt hoe
de Russiagate samenzweringstheorie de machthebbers dient, ook al valt de Trump administratie onder die machthebbers, die zoals je begrijpt geen baat
heeft bij de hysterie die de democraten hebben losgemaakt in de
VS….

Met
veel voorbeelden toont Macleod aan dat politiek en media deze
Russiagate complottheorie dag in dag uit aan de mens ‘voeren……’ (lees: de bevolking hersenspoelen met een dikke leugen) Overigens, zelfs al zou je dit belachelijke complot geloven, moest er
de laatste bijna 2 jaar toch wel wat twijfel zijn ontstaan over
beweringen als dat Rusland de Brexit, of het Catalaanse referendum
zou hebben gewonnen. Op deze plek stelde ik al een minstens een
maand voordat deze 2 claims in de media verschenen, dat het niet
ondenkbaar zou zijn, als men Rusland de schuld zou geven van deze 2
zaken en verdomd dat is precies wat er gebeurde……

Overigens
de oplettende lezer, kijker, luisteraar moet toch minimaal getwijfeld
hebben over de claim dat Rusland de verkiezingen in de VS voor Trump
had gewonnen, zeker gezien de bedragen die Rusland daarvoor gebruikt
zou hebben, bedragen die volkomen in het niets wegzakken bij de enorme bedragen waarmee de campagnes werden gevoerd……

hoe Macleod fijntjes de boosaardige hysterie en complottheorie blootlegt, wellicht ten overvloede, echter als je ziet hoe deze
uiterst ronduit belachelijke samenzweringstheorie telkens weer wordt
herhaald, kan het geen kwaad een feitelijke uitleg te geven en aan te
tonen dat de democratische partij voor het grootste deel is verworden tot een corrupte,
rechtse partij met oorlogshitsers! Jammer dat Macleod in zijn laatste woorden stelt dat Rusland als de VS probeert haar invloed te doen gelden op verkiezingen elders, daar is geen nanometer bewijs voor, terwijl er voor VS bemoeienis met verkiezingen elders honderden meters aan bewijs voorhanden is……

the Russiagate Conspiracy Benefits Those in Power

(FAIR) — To
the shock of many, Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential elections,
becoming the 45th president of the United States. Not least shocked
were corporate media, and the political establishment more generally;
the Princeton Election Consortium confidently
predicted an
over 99 percent chance of a Clinton victory, while MSNBC’s
Rachel Maddow (10/17/16)
said it could be a “Goldwater-style landslide.”

The
election of Donald Trump came as a shock to many
(Independent, 11/5/16).

Indeed,
Hillary Clinton and her team actively
attempted to
secure a Trump primary victory, assured that he would be the easiest
candidate to beat. The Podesta emails show that
her team considered even before the primaries that associating Trump
with Vladimir Putin and Russia would be a winning strategy and
employed the tactic throughout 2016 and beyond.

With
Clinton claiming,
“Putin would rather have a puppet as president,” Russia was by
far the most discussed topic during the presidential debates
(FAIR.org, 10/13/16),
easily eclipsing healthcare, terrorism, poverty and inequality. Media
seized upon the theme, with Paul Krugman (New
York Times, 7/22/16)
asserting Trump would be a “Siberian candidate,”
while ex-CIA Director Michael Hayden (Washington
Post, 5/16/16)
claimed Trump would be Russia’s “useful fool.”

The
day after the election, Jonathan Allen’s book Shattered detailed,
Clinton’s team decided that the proliferation of Russian-sponsored
“fake news” online was the primary reason for their loss.

Within
weeks, the Washington
Post (11/24/16)
was publicizing the website PropOrNot.com,
which purports to help users differentiate sources as fake or
genuine, as an invaluable tool in the battle against fake news
(FAIR.org, 12/1/16, 12/8/16).
The website soberly informs its readers that you see news sources
critiquing the “mainstream media,” the EU, NATO, Obama, Clinton,
Angela Merkel or other centrists are a telltale sign of Russian
propaganda. It also claims that when news sources argue against
foreign intervention and war with Russia, that’s evidence that you
are reading Kremlin-penned fake news.

The
Washington Post (11/24/16)
was one of the first media outlets to blame the election results on
Russian “fake news.”

PropOrNot
claims it has identified over 200 popular websites that “routinely
peddle…Russian propaganda.” Included in the list were Wikileaks,
Trump-supporting right-wing websites like InfoWars and
the Drudge Report, libertarian outlets like the Ron
Paul Institute and Antiwar.com, and
award-winning anti-Trump (but also Clinton-critical) left-wing sites
like TruthDig and Naked Capitalism. Thus
it was uniquely news sources that did not lie in the fairway between
Clinton Democrats and moderate Republicans that were tarred as
propaganda.

PropOrNot
calls for an FBI investigation into the news sources listed. Even its
creators see the resemblance to a new McCarthyism, as it appears as
a frequently
asked question on
their website. (They say it is not McCarthyism, because “we are not
accusing anyone of lawbreaking, treason, or ‘being a member of the
Communist Party.’”) However, this new McCarthyism does not stem
from the conservative right like before, but from the establishment
center.

That
the list is so evidently flawed and its creators refuse to reveal
their identities or funding did not stop the issue becoming one of
the most discussed in mainstream circles. Media talk of fake news
sparked organizations like Google, Facebook, Bing and YouTube to
change their algorithms, ostensibly to combat it.

However,
one major effect of the change has been to hammer progressive outlets
that challenge the status quo. The Intercept reported a
19 percent reduction in Google search
traffic, AlterNet 63 percent
and Democracy
Now! 36 percent. Reddit and Twitter deleted
thousands of accounts, while in what came to be called the
“AdPocalypse,” YouTube began
demonetizing videos from independent creators like Majority
Report and
the Jimmy
Dore Show on
controversial political topics like environmental protests, war and
mass shootings. (In contrast, corporate outlets like CNN did
not have their content on those subjects demonetized.) Journalists
that questioned aspects of the Russia narrative, like Glenn Greenwald
and Aaron Maté, were accused of being agents of the Kremlin
(Shadowproof, 7/9/18).

The
effect has been to pull away the financial underpinnings of
alternative media that question the corporate state and capitalism in
general, and to reassert corporate control over communication,
something that had been loosened during the election in particular.
It also impels liberal journalists to prove their loyalty by
employing sufficiently bellicose and anti-Russian rhetoric, lest they
also be tarred as Kremlin agents.

Thomas
Friedman (Morning Joe, 2/14/18)
pointedly compared email hacking to events that the US responded to
with major wars.

When
it was reported in February that 13 Russian trolls had been indicted
by a US grand jury for sharing and promoting pro-Trump and
anti-Clinton memes on Facebook,
the response was a general uproar. Multiple senior political figures
declared it an “act of war.” Clinton herself described Russian
interference as a “cyber
9/11,”
while Thomas Friedman said that it was a “Pearl
Harbor–scale event.”
Morgan Freeman’s viral video, produced by Rob Reiner’s Committee
to Investigate Russia, summed up the outrage: “We have been
attacked,” the actor declared;
“We are at war with Russia.” Liberals declared Trump’s refusal
to react in a sufficiently aggressive manner further proof he was
Putin’s puppet.

The
McCarthyist wave swept over other politicians that challenged the
liberal center. Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein refused
to endorse the Russia narrative, leading mainstream figures like
Rachel Maddow to insinuate she
was a Kremlin stooge as well. After news broke that Stein’s
connection to Russia was being officially investigated, top Clinton
staffer Zac Petkanas announced:

Jill
Stein is a Russian agent.

“Commentary”
that succinctly summed up the political atmosphere.

In
contrast, Bernie Sanders has consistently and explicitly endorsed the
Russiagate theory, claiming it
is “clear to everyone (except Donald Trump) that Russia was deeply
involved in the 2016 election and intends to be involved in 2018.”
Despite his stance, Sanders has also been constantly presented as
another Russian agent, with the Washington
Post (11/12/17)
asking its readers, “When Russia interferes with the 2020 election
on behalf of Democratic nominee Bernie Sanders, how will liberals
respond?” The message is clear: The progressive wave rising across
America is and will be a consequence of Russia, not of the failures
of the system, nor of the Democrats.

Outlets
like Slate (5/11/18)
warned of a sinister connection between Black Lives Matter and
Russia.

It
is not just politicians who have been smeared as Russian agents,
witting or unwitting; virtually every major progressive movement
challenging the system is increasingly dismissed in the same way.
Multiple media outlets,
including CNN (6/29/18), Slate (5/11/18), Vox (4/11/18)
and the New
York Times (2/16/18),
have produced articles linking Black Lives Matter to the Kremlin,
insinuating the outrage over racist police brutality is another
Russian psyop. Others claimed
Russia funded the riots in Ferguson and that Russian
trolls promoted the
Standing Rock environmental protests.

Meanwhile,
Democratic insider Neera
Tanden retweeted
a description of Chelsea Manning as a “Russian stooge,” writing
off her campaign for the Senate as “the Kremlin paying the extreme
left to swing elections. Remember that.” Thus corporate media are
promoting the idea that any challenge to the establishment is likely
a Kremlin-funded astroturf effort.

The
tactic has spread to Europe as well. After the poisoning of Russian
double agent Sergei Skripal, the UK government immediately blamed
Russia and imposed sanctions (without publicly presenting evidence).
Jeremy Corbyn, the pacifist, leftist leader of the Labour Party, was
uncharacteristically bellicose, asserting,
“The Russian authorities must be held to account on the basis of
the evidence and our response must be both decisive and
proportionate.”

The
British press was outraged—at Corbyn’s insufficient jingoism.
The Sun‘s
front page (3/15/18)
attacked him as “Putin’s Puppet,” while the Daily
Mail (3/15/18)
went with “Corbyn the Kremlin Stooge.” As with Sanders, the fact
that Corbyn endorsed the official narrative didn’t keep him from
being attacked, showing that the conspiratorial mindset seeing Russia
behind everything has little to do with evidence-based reality, and
is increasingly a tool to demonize the establishment’s political
enemies.

The
Atlantic Council published
a report claiming
Greek political parties Syriza and Golden Dawn were not expressions
of popular frustration and disillusionment, but “the Kremlin’s
Trojan horses,” undermining democracy in its birthplace. Providing
scant evidence, the report went on to link virtually every major
European political party challenging the center, from right or left,
to Putin.

From
Britian’s UKIP to Spain’s Podemos to Italy’s Five Star
Movement, all are charged with being under one man’s control. It is
this council that Facebook announced it
was partnering with to help promote “trustworthy” news and weed
out “untrustworthy” sources (FAIR.org, 5/21/18),
as its CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with representatives from some of the
largest corporate outlets, like the New
York Times, CNN and News
Corp,
to help develop a system to control what content we see on the
website.

“We
are at war,” Morgan Freeman assures us
on behalf of the Committee to Investigate Russia.

The
utility of this wave of suspicion is captured in Freeman’s
aforementioned video.
After asserting that “for 241 years, our democracy has been a
shining example to the world of what we can all aspire to”—a
tally that would count nearly a century of chattel slavery and almost
another hundred years of de jure racial disenfranchisement—the
actor explains that “Putin uses social media to spread propaganda
and false information, he convinces people in democratic societies to
distrust their media, their political process.”

The
obvious implication is that the political process and media ought to
be trusted, and would be trusted were it not for Putin’s
propaganda. It was not the failures of capitalism and the deep
inequalities it created that led to widespread popular resentment and
movements on both left and right pressing for radical change across
Europe and America, but Vladimir Putin himself. In other words,
“America is already great.”

For
the Democrats, Russiagate allows them to ignore calls for change and
not scrutinize why they lost to the most unpopular presidential
candidate in history. Since Russia hacked the election, there is no
need for introspection, and certainly no need to accommodate the
Sanders wing or to engage with progressive challenges from activists
on the left, who are Putin’s puppets anyway.

The
party can continue on the same course, painting over the deep cracks
in American society. Similarly, for centrists in Europe, under threat
from both left and right, the Russia narrative allows them to sow
distrust among the public for any movement challenging the dominant
order.

For
the state, Russiagate has encouraged liberals to forego their
faculties and develop a state-worshiping, conspiratorial mindset in
the face of a common, manufactured enemy. Liberal trust in
institutions like the FBI has markedly
increased since
2016, while liberals also now espouse a neocon foreign policy in
Syria, Ukraine and other regions, with many supporting the vast
increases in the US military budget and attacking Trump from the
right.

For
corporate media, too, the disciplining effect of the Russia narrative
is highly useful, allowing them to reassert control over the means of
communication under the guise of preventing a Russian “fake news”
infiltration. News sources that challenge the establishment are
censored, defunded or deranked, as corporate sources stoke mistrust
of them. Meanwhile, it allows them to portray themselves as arbiters
of truth. This strategy has had some success, with Democrats’
trust in media increasing
since the election.

None
of this is to say that Russia does not strive to influence other
countries’ elections, a tactic that the United States has employed
even more frequently (NPR, 12/22/18).
Yet the extent to which the story has dominated the US media to the
detriment of other issues is a remarkable testament to its utility
for those in power.

dat de westerse media hun tent uit kunnen gaan als het om een niet bewezen gifgasaanval gaat, maar in feite Israël verdedigen, zelfs als de
overheid van dit gestolen land met scherpschutters op vreedzame demonstranten laat schieten en tanks samentrekt tegen deze ongewapende demonstranten,
NB in de Gazastrook, dus aan de andere kant van de grens…..

Ramzy
Baroud plaatste op ANTIWAR een artikel over deze pro-Israëlische propaganda door westerse reguliere (massa-) media, die vergoelijken of zelfs zo
ongeveer alles verzwijgen wat Israël aan oorlogsmisdaden, plus schendingen van mensen- en kinderrechten flikt……

Barouds artikel is vooral ingegeven door de volledig ontoereikende media-aandacht voor

Gazastrook, de grootste openluchtgevangenis ter wereld….. De Gazastrook waar het de
mensen aan van alles ontbreekt, van medicijnen tot energie, dit daar
Israël deze strook land aan alle kanten blokkeert en zelf beslist
wat het (mondjesmaat) toelaat.

Israël heeft de energievoorziening
van de Gazastrook met bombardementen vernietigd (een enorme oorlogsmisdaad), waardoor men veel vaker geen, dan wel
elektriciteit heeft, doordat de nu opgewekte energie via Israël
wordt geleverd. Zelfs in grote hitte hebben de Palestijnen, als ze
geluk hebben, een paar uur per dag stroom………

Het
voorgaande over de Gazastrook wordt niet eens genoemd door
Baroud…..

De westerse media (en het grootste deel van de westerse politici), in samenwerking met Hollywood, laten Israël vooral als
slachtoffer zien, slachtoffer van ‘de terroristische Palestijnen’. Men
laat de Israëlische kijk op de zaken zien en zo min mogelijk van de
ellende die de Palestijnen te beurt valt. Zelfs als men dit soms
deels wel laat zien, wordt er gewezen op de eigen schuld van de
Palestijnen voor de ellende die ze dagelijks ondervinden, waar men
het liefst meteen woordvoerders van de fascistische apartheidsstaat
Israël laat horen, die de Palestijnen demoniseren voor hun ‘agressieve gedrag……’

Baroud
stelt dat dit geen onwetendheid is, maar een welbewuste politiek en
gezien de berichtgeving in het westen, valt daar geen speld tussen te
krijgen….. Zo laat hij zien dat de westerse media zelfs geen vragen
hebben gesteld bij de inzet van tanks en sluipschutters tegen
vreedzame demonstranten, mensen die eindelijk een normaal leven
willen kunnen leiden, zonder tekort aan zo ongeveer alles en geconfronteerd worden met de immer
weerkerende bloedbaden onder hun mede Palestijnen (er is overigens praktisch geen Palestijn in de Gazastrook te vinden, die niet minstens één familielid heeft verloren door Israëlische terreur…)…..

Bloedbaden die Israël met haar moderne leger en
luchtmacht aanricht onder de Palestijnen die geen middelen hebben om
zich daartegen te verdedigen….. Zoals Baroud terecht stelt, men doet
of Israëlische en de Palestijnse overheden machten zijn, die één op één te
vergelijken zijn, terwijl dat uiteraard de grootste kul is, dat
bewijst het enorme aantal doden onder Palestijnen wel, vergeleken
met het aantal joden dat sinds 1948 in de ‘onderlinge strijd’ is
gevallen (‘onderling’ tussen aanhalingstekens, daar de agressie van de
Palestijnen van meet af aan een reactie is op de terreur van de
zionisten….)…

Vandaar ook dat sommige wanhopige Palestijnen zich
verlaten op persoonlijke aanvallen tegen Israëliërs (aanvallen die dan wel
breed worden uitgemeten in de westerse media…….), maar ook hier
weer: het aantal slachtoffers aan de kant van de Palestijnen blijft ondanks die aanvallen oneindig veel groter, dan die aan de kant van de zionisten……

De
journalist die door een laffe Israëlische sluipschutter zonder enige
aanleiding werd vermoord, Yasser Murtaja, werd door de westerse media al snel
aangewezen als een Hamas handlanger, een leugen die de Israëlische overheid verspreidde (als zou Murtaja op grond daarvan zijn vermoord….), terwijl Murtaja overduidelijk bezig was met het verslaan
van de demonstratie en hij voor iedereen zichtbaar een vest droeg waarop niet mis te verstaan het woord ‘PRESS’ stond te lezen…….

Vreemd
ook dat de reguliere westerse media de ongebreidelde agressie die het
westen uitvoert in het Midden-Oosten nooit als terreur aanmerkt,
datzelfde geldt voor de Israëlische agressie tegen de Palestijnen,
terwijl men ook bij die media moet zien, dat het hier om een totaal
ongelijke strijd gaat en het Israëlische geweld alle tekenen van terreur vertoont…. ‘Je zou verdomd gaan denken’ dat de media
de Palestijnen niet als mensen zien, te vergelijken met de manier
waarop de Duitse media onder nazi-bewind over de joden
schreven……..

Een groot deel van de kritiek op Israëlische terreur wordt ook in de reguliere westerse media afgedaan als antisemitisme, neem de hetze tegen Jeremy Corbyn*, de Labour leider in Groot-Brittannië, of die tegen de BDS beweging (de beweging die op vreedzame manier strijdt voor een terechte boycot op Israëlische producten)…..

Eergisteren werd er een 14 jarige Palestijnse jongen dodelijk in het hoofd getroffen door een kogel van een ‘dappere’ Israëlische sluipschutters. Hoorde dit vanmiddag in het BBC nieuws van 14.00 u. (CET) (heb gisteren weinig nieuws meegekregen v.w. andere bezigheden). Vreemd genoeg stelt de BBC daar meteen het excuus van het Israëlische leger tegenover, dat de jongen een katapult zou hebben gebruikt tegen Israëlische militairen (iets wat de vader ontkent) en durft dan te melden dat Israël internationaal ‘onder zware kritiek ligt…….’ (bovendien: alsof een katapult te vergelijken is met een geweer of pistool…….)

Waarschijnlijk doet de BBC dit om Saoedi-Arabië uit de wind te houden, die tenslotte goede banden onderhoudt met GB (en Israël) en contracten heeft getekend voor enorme Britse wapenleveranties, inclusief o.a. pantserwagens en helikopters, waarmee S-A een genocide uitvoert in Jemen…… Echter van zware kritiek in de reguliere westerse media op de Israëlische terreur is amper of geen sprake……

Cover-up: Shielding Israel Is a Matter of Policy

Western
media is actively involved in shielding Israel and enhancing its
diminishing brand, while painstakingly demolishing the image of
Israel’s enemies.

The
term “media bias” does not do justice to the western corporate
media’s relationship with Israel and Palestine. The relationship
is, indeed, far more profound than mere partiality. It is not
ignorance, either. It is a calculated and long-term campaign, aimed
at guarding Israel and demonizing Palestinians.

The
current disgraceful
coverage of
Gaza’s popular protests indicates that the media’s position aims
at suppressing the truth on Palestine, at any cost and by any means.

Political
symbiosis, cultural affinity, Hollywood, the outreaching influence of
pro-Israel and Zionist groups within the political and media circles,
are some of the explanations many of us have offered as to why Israel
is often viewed with sympathetic eyes and Palestinians and Arabs
condemned.

But
such explanations should hardly suffice. Nowadays, there are numerous
media outlets that are trying to offset some of the imbalance, many
of them emanating from the Middle East, but also other parts of the
world. Palestinian and Arab journalists, intellectuals and cultural
representatives are more present on a global stage than ever before
and are more than capable of facing off, if not defeating, the
pro-Israeli media discourse.

However,
they are largely invisible to western media; it is the Israeli
spokesperson who continues to occupy the center stage, speaking,
shouting, theorizing and demonizing as he pleases.

It
is, then, not a matter of media ignorance, but policy.

Even
before March 30, when scores of Palestinians in Gaza were killed and
thousands wounded, the US and British media, for example, should
have, at least, questioned why hundreds of Israeli
snipers and
army tanks were ordered to deploy at the Gaza border to face-off
Palestinian protesters.

Instead,
they referred to “clashes”
between Gaza youth and the snipers, as if they are equal forces in an
equivalent battle.

Western
media is not blind. If ordinary people are increasingly able to see
the truth regarding the situation in Palestine, experienced western
journalists cannot possibly be blind to the truth. They know, but
they choose to remain silent.

The
maxim that official Israeli propaganda or “hasbara” is too savvy
no longer suffices. In fact, it is hardly true.

Where
is the ingenuity in the way the Israeli army explained the killing of
unarmed Palestinians in Gaza?

“Yesterday
we saw 30,000 people,” the Israeli army tweeted on
March 31. “We arrived prepared and with precise reinforcements.
Nothing was carried out uncontrolled; everything was accurate and
measured, and we know where every bullet landed.”

If
that is not bad enough, Israel’s ultra-nationalist Minister of
Defense, Avigdor Lieberman, followed that self-indictment
by declaring there
are “no innocent people in Gaza”; thus, legitimizing the
targeting of any Gazan within the besieged Strip.

Unfair
media coverage is not fueled by the simplistic notion of “clever
Israel, imprudent Arabs”. Western media is actively involved in
shielding Israel and enhancing its diminishing brand, while
painstakingly demolishing the image of Israel’s enemies.

Take
for example, Israel’s unfounded propaganda that Yasser Murtaja, the
Gaza journalist who was killed in cold blood by an Israeli sniper
while covering the Great March of Return protests at the Gaza border,
was a member of Hamas.

First,
“unnamed officials” in Israel claimed that
Yasser is “a member of the Hamas security apparatus.”

Then,
Lieberman offered more
(fabricated) details that Yasser was on Hamas’ payroll since 2011
and “held a rank similar to a captain.” Many journalists took
these statements and ran with them, constantly associating any news
coverage of Yasser’s death with Hamas.

It
turned out that, according to the US State Department, Yasser’s
startup media company in Gaza had actually received
a small grant from
USAID, which subjected Yasser’s company to a rigorous vetting
process.

More
still, a report by the International Federation of Journalist claimed
that Yasser was actually detained
and beaten by
the Gaza police in 2015, and that Israel’s Defense Minister is
engineering a cover-up.

Judging
by this, Israel’s media apparatus is as erratic and self-defeating
as North Korea; but this is hardly the image conveyed by western
media, because it insists on placing Israel on a moral pedestal while
misrepresenting Palestinians, regardless of the circumstances.

But
there is more to western media’s approach to Palestine and Israel
than shielding and elevating Israel, while demonizing Palestinians.
Oftentimes, the media works to distract from the issues altogether,
as is the case in Britain today, where Israel’s image is rapidly
deteriorating.

To
disrupt the conversation on Palestine, the Israeli Occupation and the
British government’s unconditional support of Israel, British
mainstream media has turned the heat on Jeremy Corbyn, the popular
leader of the Labor Party.

Accusations
of anti-Semitism has dogged the party since Corbyn’s election in
2015. Yet, Corbyn is not racist; on the contrary, he has stood
against racism, for the working class and other disadvantaged groups.
His strong pro-Palestine stance, in particular, is threatening to
compel a paradigm shift on Palestine and Israel within the revived
and energized Labor Party.

Sadly,
Corbyn’s counter strategy is almost entirely absent. Instead of
issuing a statement condemning all forms of racism and moving on to
deal with the urgent issues at hand, including that of Palestine, he
allows his detractors to determine the nature of the discussion, if
not the whole discourse. He is now trapped in a perpetual
conversation, while the Labor Party is regularly purging
its own members for
alleged anti-Semitism.

Considering
that Israel and its allies in the media, and elsewhere, conflate
between criticism of Israel and its Zionist ideology, on the one
hand, and that of Jews and Judaism on the other, Corbyn cannot win
this battle.

Nor
are Israel’s friends keen on winning, either. They merely want to
prolong a futile debate so that British society remains embroiled in
distractions and spares Israel any accountability for its action.

If
British media was, indeed, keen on calling out racism and isolating
racists, why then is there little discussion on Israel’s racist
policies targeting Palestinians?

Media
spin will continue to provide Israel with the needed margins to carry
out its violent policies against the Palestinian people, with no
moral accountability. It will remain loyal to Israel, creating a
buffer between the truth and its audiences.

It
is incumbent on us to expose this sinister relationship and hold
mainstream media to account for covering up Israel’s crimes, as
well as Israel for committing these crimes in the first place.

Ongelofelijk
maar waarschijnlijk voor niemand een verrassing: als je kritiek
hebt op de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël wordt je onmiddellijk
als antisemiet afgeschilderd.

Vooral
sinds de BDS beweging haar kop opstak en zei waar het op stond, is
deze onterechte antisemitische beschuldiging niet meer van de lucht…… Zoals
het beschuldigen van o.a. de BDS beweging (en het ANC) die stelden dat
Israël een apartheidsstaat is, dezelfde staat die als een
fascistische staat tekeer gaat tegen mensenrechtengroeperingen,
opiniemakers en politici die het lef hebben om voor de zwaar
verdrukte Palestijnen durven op te komen….. Israël heeft zelfs een snelle
reactiemacht op poten gezet om negatief nieuws over Israël op het internet onmiddellijk ‘te corrigeren…..’* Dan spreek ik niet eens over het
zware geweld dat Israël gebruikt tegen de Palestijnen, de aanleiding
voor het e.e.a.

Buitenlandse regeringen, waaronder de Engelse (en meer en meer de Nederlandse) staan in deze achter het uiterst gewelddadige Israëlische regime en gaan mee in de belachelijke beschuldigingen……… (al stond Nederland ‘uiteraard’ al vanaf de stichting van de Israëlische staat achter deze terreurentiteit…..)

Wat betreft het gebruikte fysieke geweld, deinst Israël er zelfs niet voor terug om invalide Palestijnen te
vermoorden, als deze teveel aanhang krijgen en in woorden Israël
veroordelen voor haar barbaarse inhumane beleid t.a.v. het Palestijnse volk……. Ook het in de rug schieten van ongewapende Palestijnen is geen probleem voor Israël, zoals we afgelopen vrijdag konden zien….**

Al
langere tijd hebben Israël en haar belangengroepen in
Groot-Brittannie hun pijlen gericht op Jeremy Corbyn en niet voor
niets, immers Corbyn is al een groot deel van zijn leven begaan met het
vreselijke lot van de Palestijnen……

Tegelijk
wordt meer en meer met de vieze met bloed besmeurde zionistische
vingers gewezen naar links als een beweging van grote
antisemieten….. Terwijl bijvoorbeeld tijdens WOII het met name
links was dat zich hevig verzette tegen het deporteren van joden naar
de vernietigingskampen……

‘Gelukkig’
voor de machthebbers werd voor de afloop van WOII een groot deel van de linkse
intelligentsia vermoord door de nazi’s….. Dit gebeurde met behulp van politie en
geheime diensten van de door nazi-Duitsland bezette landen waaruit de joden werden afgevoerd…… Zoals dit ook in Nederland gebeurde: ‘de kers op de taart’ was de mislukking van operatie Market Garden (waarin prins Bernhard een heel gore rol speelde), daardoor werd een fiks aantal linkse verzetsstrijders voor de bevrijding ‘nog even’ vermoord door de nazi-Duitse bezetter……..

Terug naar het fascistische geweld van terreurstaat Israël: pas
nadat goed duidelijk werd waar Israël voor stond, eind zestiger begin 70er jaren, begon links zich te
verzetten tegen de massamoord op en de verdrijving van Palestijnen
uit ~~Israël~~ uh Palestina in 1947 en 1948, plus de jaren daarna.

Uiteraard
ben je geen antisemiet als je je verzet tegen de onmenselijke
behandeling van Palestijnen, er zijn gelukkig ook een groot aantal
joden in Israël die zich hiertegen verzetten, precies zoals zij (als ze al niet als links zijn aan te merken:) samen
met ‘links’ verzetten tegen andere dictatoriale regimes die schijt
hebben aan mensenrechten en naar willekeur moorden en etnisch
zuiveren…..

Zoals het linkse verzet tijdens WOII zich ook voor die oorlog hebben verzet
tegen antidemocratische krachten, die democratisch gekozen regeringen
omver durfden te werpen (ook destijds al regelmatig onder aanvoering van de VS),
neem de Spaanse burgeroorlog….. Trouwens de hoogste tijd dat er
eens wordt uitgezocht wat de rol van de VS was tijdens de Spaanse
burgeroorlog……… (kan me niet voorstellen dat dit gestolen land zich daar niet mee bemoeid heeft, het ging immers om het omverwerpen van een links regime)

Jeremy
Corbyn has for decades been a resolute opponent of the Zionist
project in Palestine-Israel, and a steadfast supporter of the rights
of the Palestinian people. There are many in the Labour party
who support Corbyn in this view.

Corbyn’s
Labour has a clear lead in the opinion polls, and the arrival of a
Corbyn-led Labour government after the next election would probably
herald a sea-change in the UK’s relationship with Palestine-Israel.

This
prospect has sent a shiver or two down the spines of Israel’s
Zionist supporters in the UK.

The
most recent controversy with regard to this issue stems from Corbyn’s
opposition, via a Facebook post, to the removal in 2012 of an
antisemitic mural in the East End of London, on the grounds that this
was censorship of an artist. Corbyn has since apologized for
not taking into consideration the content of the mural, and said he
would have supported its removal given what he found out
subsequently.

In
April 2016, it was revealed that the Labour MP Naz Shah had
called for Israel to be “relocated” to the US and posted a
message saying “the Jews are rallying”. Shah apologized, saying
her comments had been “ignorant” and “antisemitic”, and
was suspended by Labour, though the suspension was subsequently
lifted.

Also
irking these critics of Corbyn has been his refusal to support the
expulsion from the Labour party of his longtime ally “Red Ken”
Livingstone, the former mayor of London, for the latter’s highly
garbled interpretation of the 1933 Haavara (transfer) Agreement
between Germany and German Zionists, to facilitate the emigration of
German Jews to British Mandate Palestine in return for the purchase
of German goods for the Jewish settlement in that territory.

Livingstone’s
absurd claim that “Hitler was a Zionist supporter”, though
appealing to a kernel of truth he then twisted, overlooked two
issues: (1) the dire situation facing German Jews at that time; and
(2) that the Haavara agreement, which was designed to foster the
migration of German Jews in line with Nazi policy, made no reference
to the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, a vital precept of
Zionism. Hitler was a proponent of ethnic cleaning, and the
creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, which only occurred in 1948,
was certainly not something he had in mind in 1933, or indeed any
time before or after.

Livingstone,
an ardent supporter of the Palestinian people, continues to be
suspended from the Labour party for making his claim, but has so far
not been expelled.

The
party leadership is deeply divided over Livingstone.

Expelling
“Red Ken” would probably seem to some like a good idea, except
that there are others high-up in Blighty’s establishment who have
displayed a manifest fondness for things Nazi, without facing any
real consequences.

The
soon-to-be wed Prince Harry was photographed some years ago at a
fancy-dress party in an SS uniform (for which he apologized
afterwards). He was allowed to go his merry way, though
hovering uneasily behind images of the SS-uniformed Harry is archival
film of his grandmother, the current queen, being taught as a young
girl to give a Nazi salute by her mother, who is on historical record
as wanting a policy of appeasement towards the Führer, until Hitler
decided it was time Blighty was bombed to smithereens.

In
2011 the Oxford-educated Tory MP Aidan Burley organized a Nazi-themed
stag party for a friend at a French ski resort. The
Guardianreports
this event thus:

Burley
was filmed raising his glass in a toast before… another guest
beside him made a speech, in which he [the other guest] said: “Let’s
raise a toast to Tom for organising the stag do, and if we’re
perfectly honest, to the ideology and thought process of the Third
Reich.”

The
party was said to have moved on to a British-themed pub, where
partygoers adopted thick German accents and chanted: “Mein Fuhrer!
Mein Fuhrer! Mein Fuhrer!”, “Himmler! Himmler! Himmler!” and
“Eichmann! Eichmann! Eichmann!”.

Burley
duly apologized, and a report commissioned by his party concluded
that while he had acted in a “stupid and offensive way, Mr Burley
is not a bad man, still less a racist or anti-Semite”. Burley
lost his post as a ministerial aide as a result, but was not
disciplined in any other way. He is a member of the
Conservative Friends of Israel, and criticism of his “senseless
prank”, “high jinks”, and “tasteless antics” from UK Jewish
organizations was relatively mild and formulaic when compared to what
Corbyn has had to endure.

People
such as Burley and his chums in all likelihood typify a rightwing
phenomenon known on both sides of the Atlantic, namely, the seemingly
incongruous convergence between pro-Zionism and antisemitism.
History shows the two are however not mutually exclusive.

A
well-known current example of this convergence is Steve Bannon, who
during his tenure as the editor at Breitbart News published several
articles making
derogatory and antisemitic comments about Jews, including one which
referred to Bill Kristol as a “renegade Jew”, another which said
with regard to the Washington
Post columnist
Anne Applebaum and “cosmopolitan elitists” like her and George
Soros, that “hell hath no fury like a Polish, Jewish, American
elitist scorned”. Applebaum, who is married to a former
Polish foreign minister, is accused of having the “dream of being
Poland’s first Jewish-American first lady”.

People
who are disposed to wanting Jews to be in “one place, over there”
(such as the American Christian right), can be virulently
pro-Zionist, while using their Zionism as a way to shield themselves
from their displays of antisemitism. Breitbart uses the same
ploy to defend Bannon from the charge of antisemitism.

The
irony here is that Red Ken would not in his wildest dreams deck
himself out in a Nazi uniform, nor attend a party where a toast was
drunk “to the ideology and thought process of the Third Reich”.

Likewise,
there has not been a Labour leader with Corbyn’s consistent 40-year
record of antiracist struggle.

The
UK Board of Jewish Deputies and Jewish Leadership Council organized a
protest against antisemitism in Labour outside parliament
last week, and claimed Corbyn “personifies” the “problems and
dangers” of “left-wing antisemitism”.

Corbyn
has since acknowledged that “there are pockets of antisemitism”
in the Labour party.

And
indeed there is antisemitism on the left—undeniably, there are some
leftists still wedded to the pernicious trope of “the Jews
controlling the capitalist system”, sometimes accompanied by absurd
conspiracy theories about what Rothschild bankers “get up to in
secret”, and so forth.

There
is no room for abhorrent sentiments of this kind on the left, as
Corbyn himself has said.

But
how are vile assertions about “the Jews controlling the capitalist
system”, or Ken Livingstone’s perverse and uninformed assessment
of Nazi history, really different from today’s routine alt-right
pronouncements about the malign influence and power of “liberal
cosmopolitan Jews” (this of course being an absolute staple of Nazi
propaganda)?

So
Bannon, whose Breitbart News peddles guff about “liberal
cosmopolitan Jews”, gets invited into the White House’s Oval
Office to be the Orange Swindler’s senior adviser until he was
ousted in a power struggle with “Jarvanka”, while Red Ken is
suspended from the Labour Party.

Oh
wait, the alt-right in both the US and UK are pro-Zionist, despite
oftentimes being visibly antisemitic.

There
is nothing more palpably antisemitic than espousing the purportedly
pro-Zionist “theology” of the American evangelical right, which
enjoins that Israel has to exist in order for the apocalypse or Day
of Judgment to occur, at which time G_d will decree that Jews have to
convert to Christianity or be consigned to eternal damnation.

Israel
condones American evangelical antisemitism because the latter’s
pro-Zionism helps ensure that US politicians, afraid of the powerful
evangelical voting bloc, approve virtually unlimited military aid for
Israel.

The
UK is not similarly beholden to a significant voting bloc with this
crackpot pro-Zionist antisemitic theology, but Zionism still exerts
its pressures on British politics.

The
elephant in the room in all of this farrago is Corbyn’s and
Livingstone’s enduring support for the liberation of the
Palestinian people, and of course the fact that “liberal
cosmopolitan Jews” tend to be amongst the strongest critics of
Israel’s extensively criminal treatment of the Palestinians.

The
Zionist strategy here has been evident for a long time: when
dealing with anti-Zionists such as Corbyn, do everything to blur the
line between anti-Zionism (which has become increasingly acceptable
in the mainstream as a result of Zionist Israel’s systematically
brutal treatment of the Palestinians), and antisemitism (which, given
what Jews have had to suffer in their long history, is categorically
unacceptable).

The
rote and reflex conflation of anti-Zionism with antisemitism will
probably make it harder for actual antisemitism to be responded to
with the seriousness it always merits.

Many
are maligned routinely as antisemites because they oppose Israel’s
repellent treatment of the Palestinians– if time after time,
principled pro-Palestinians such as Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu,
let alone Corbyn, are deemed antisemitic by virtue of their
insistence on Palestinian legal rights vis-à-vis Israel, then there
will be more than a few, some of whom may in truth alas be
antisemites, who will be inclined to laugh-off this imputation of
antisemitism.

Nelson
Mandela an “antisemite”? Give me a break, as the Americans
say! Most of the legal team which helped Mandela avoid the
death penalty at his treason trial were Jews. In fact, Mandela
made Arthur
Chaskalson,
a Jewish member of his legal team at this trial, the first Chief
Justice of post-apartheid South Africa. When the ANC decided to
engage in armed resistance, the head of its military wing and its
chief of military intelligence were both Jews– Joe
Slovo (born
Yossel Mashel Slovo) and Ronnie
Kasrils respectively.

Mandela
showed it is absolutely possible to be a lifelong comrades-in-arms
with Jews and not be a “friend” of Zionist Israel.

Mandela
thus had many closer personal associations with Jews than many of the
phony philosemites who populate the American Christian right, who
would be absolutely appalled at the prospect of (say) a secular Jew
becoming the US Chief Justice.

Can
one somehow anticipate here the response of Trump’s for-now
Attorney-General, Jeff Beauregard (“Beauracist”) Sessions, at
such a dreadful possibility?

Corbyn
in recent weeks has had to endure the media-driven charge that he was
a Czech spy. Corbyn sued the Tory MP who propagated this
accusation, the latter settled out of court, and paid undisclosed
damages to a charity of Corbyn’s choice.

Corbyn
then had to face rightwing tabloid accusations that he was a “Putin
stooge” when a Russian double agent, exiled in the UK, and his
daughter visiting from Russia, succumbed in a quiet English town to
almost lethal doses of a toxic nerve agent. Putin was blamed,
immediately, by the poll-faltering Tories for the attack.

Corbyn,
mindful of how his then party leader Blair had joined Dubya Bush in
faking so-called military intelligence justifying the overthrow of
Saddam Hussain, called for detailed and conclusive evidence before
responsibility for this attack was placed on Putin.

Corbyn
had been an opponent of the Iraq war, unlike the feckless Blairites
in his own party and the Tory parliamentary chorus which, without
exception, also sang to Blair’s twisted and bellicose tune.

Corbyn’s
caution regarding the ascription of blame for the nerve-agent attack
could perhaps be justified by taking a look at recent history, not
just the fakery used to justify the Iraq war, but also the
precipitate and disorderly collapse of the Soviet Union, which left
its biological and chemical warfare facilities unguarded and
available for plunder by a range of state- and non-state agents until
a semblance of order was restored.

The
“Corbyn is a figurehead for antisemitism” campaign is the latest
in such recurring attempts to discredit the most radical party leader
in Labour’s history.

There
are likely to be many more such attempts to tarnish Corbyn and his
supporters made by the UK’s rightwing tabloids, joined by the
Blairite vipers in the Labour party (some of whom joined last week’s
protest against antisemitism in their party, having been notably
silent when the Tories ran a viciously Islamophobic election campaign
against the Muslim Sadiq Khan, who was Labour’s candidate for
London mayor (Khan won)—as well as the more genteel but equally
cobra-like hacks in the supposedly “liberal” Guardian
newspaper
who support these Blairites tooth and nail.

The
thirst of the Zionists, and their convenient abettors in Blairite
Labour and the latter’s supporters in the UK media, in wanting
Corbyn’s “apologies” in order to undermine him and his allies,
is unslakable.

As
exemplified by the cases of Prince Harry and the Tory MP, a swift
apology, however insincere, can work wonders with those predisposed
to permit wearers of Nazi uniforms off the hook.

Corbyn
though is not in the position of the elite’s insouciant
antisemites.

Such
perfunctory apologies– along the lines of Prince Harry’s blithe
“OK, I got caught, let’s do damage control” — will be
rejected when tendered by staunch anti-Zionists.

As
Corbyn is discovering, every apology or promise of an inquiry he
makes now is disdained as “insufficient”, “too weak”, and
“too late”.

The
strategy of Corbyn and his supporters has therefore to be simple: be
unyielding in battling the antisemitism in some sections of the left,
and be equally intransigent in challenging those who have a deeply
vested interest in conflating anti-Zionism with antisemitism.

For
Zionists and their allies, the pro-Palestinian Corbyn and his
supporters will always be irremediable “antisemites”.
Zionists allow us no alternative to this travesty.

Meanwhile,
one suspects that Corbyn and his team, like the Zionists wanting to
undermine him, know that politics is war conducted by other means.

Gisteren bracht Stan van Houcke een artikel van RT (RT, je weet wel, het mediaorgaan dat volgens de westerse reguliere media en de meeste westerse politici ‘fake news’ dan wel Russische propaganda brengt…..). Hierin het nieuws dat Jeremy Corbyn, Noam Chomsky en Japanse vredesactivisten de Sean MacBride Peace Prize 2017 hebben gewonnen.

Vreemd genoeg werd dit bericht door niet één regulier westers mediaorgaan gebracht….. Wel zeuren over ‘fake news’ of manipulatie door mediaorganen als RT en Sputnik (zonder een flinter van bewijs), maar als er een prijs wordt gewonnen door mensen die zich verzetten tegen de huidige inhumane neoliberale status quo, zijn diezelfde mediaorganen en politici niet thuis, laat staan dat men er over bericht….* Mensen dat is pas echt manipulatie van het volk, zoals die mediaorganen en politici op dagelijkse basis het volk voorliegen en belazeren……..

Onder het artikel nog de reactie van Ron, zoals die op het blog van Stan van Houcke is te lezen. Ron gaat hier in op het toekennen van de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede, die dit jaar naar ICAN ging. Zie wat de directeur op durfde te lepelen n.a.v. die toekenning, een tenenkrommend en schandalig praatje….. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been awarded the Sean MacBride Peace
Prize along with Noam Chomsky and Japanese anti-military base
activists**, yet the award received scant coverage in the British
media.

The
International Peace Bureau presents the Sean MacBride Peace Prize to
individuals, organizations or movements for their work in the areas
of peace, disarmament and human rights.

Corbyn,
along with renowned scholar Noam Chomsky and the All Okinawa Council
Against Henoko New Base, were deemed this year’s recipients. Corbyn
received his award in Geneva Friday.

The
Labour leader was recognized for his “sustained
and powerful political work for disarmament and peace.” His
longtime work with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the UK and
the Stop the War Campaign was commended, as was his efforts for
peace as a politician.

International Peace Bureau said. “He
has ceaselessly stood by the principles, which he has held for so
long, to ensure true security and well-being for all – for his
constituents, for the citizens of the UK and for the people of the
world.”

“As
leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition he continues
to carry his personal principles into his political life – stating
openly that he could not press the nuclear button and arguing
strongly for a re-orientation of priorities – to cut military
spending and spend instead on health, welfare and education.”

The
Japanese All Okinawa Council Against Henoko New Base was recognized
for its commitment to close the Futemna Marine Air Base and its
opposition to building another military base in Henoko. The group was
awarded its prize in Barcelona at the end of November.

Chomsky
was recognized for his decades-long efforts supporting peace, his
anti-imperialist stance and his criticism of militarist US foreign
policy. He will be presented with his award in the US next year.

Er werd gisteren tijdens het Catalaanse referendum voor onafhankelijkheid, een ongelofelijk staaltje dictatoriaal Spaans geweld opgevoerd……… Met veel geweld onder de regie van de fascistische Guardia Civil, probeerde men het referendum onmogelijk te maken….. Barbaars geweld tegen vreedzame betogers……….Volgens zeggen zijn er zelfs zwaargewonden gevallen door dit geweld tegen vreedzame demonstranten……..

Eindelijk is de EU wakker geworden, lullig dat dit pas gebeurt na veel geweld en sensatie op radio, tv en het internet…………. Lullig ook, dat men nu (internationaal) m.n. wijst op de lage opkomst voor dit referendum….. Vreemd hè, die lage opkomst?? Vreemd dat mensen niet naar de stembus durfden te gaan, nadat de Spaanse overheid de laatste weken niet anders heeft gedaan dan geweld aankondigen, mochten de Catalanen ter stembus trekken……….

Zoals al vaker op deze plek gesteld: met deze manier van handelen bereikt de Spaanse overheid het tegenovergestelde, juist dit schunnige geweld zal een groot aantal Catalanen overhalen zich voor onafhankelijkheid in te zetten en zelfs tegenstanders in het kamp van de voorstanders te trekken…….

Vanmorgen na 9.30 u.op Radio1 de aankondiging van Standpunt NL door hufter Kockelman. Ook hij wees als eerste op de lage opkomst, zonder alle bedreigingen van de Spaanse overheid te noemen……

Te gast in de uitzending Robert van de Roer, ‘diplomatiek deskundige’ (ha! ha! ha!) en zoals verwacht, deze ‘deskundige’ mengde zich in het koor van wolven, die wijst op de lage opkomst in Catalonië, niet representatief…….. Volgens van de Roer ‘komt dit allemaal verkeerd uit….’ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Het continu hameren op de onrechtmatigheid van het Catalaanse onafhankelijkheidsreferendum (door de premier van Catalonië, Puigdemont bepleit), slaat volgens een inbeller nergens op. Hij wijst op de evolutie in een groot aantal zaken, bijvoorbeeld scheiding. Scheiden was in lang vervlogen tijden zelfs verboden, nu is dit de normaalste zaak van de wereld (jammer genoeg nog lang niet op de hele wereld..). Vandaar dat deze inbeller terecht stelde, dat Spanje feodaal bezig is. Tijdens de paar minuten dat de luisteraar mocht reageren, vond Kockelman het nodig nog even te melden, dat hijzelf ook heeft gesteld er te weinig stemmers waren om het referendum representatief te noemen……..

Als klap op de vuurpijl had Kockelman naast EU-lobbyst van de Roer, ook CDA bedrijven- en EU-lobbyist Knapen in de uitzending, het zal u niet verbazen, dat Knapen het volledig met de Spaanse overheid eens is en het referendum volkomen onwettig noemde……..

Rutte liet vanmorgen weten dat Spanje in haar recht staat (met het tegenhouden van het referendum), alleen de manier waarop is ‘een beetje ongelukkig’, wat hij vertaalde in: niet zo netjes……. Nogmaals wat is er rechtmatig aan om tegen de wil van het volk in te gaan?? Waarom heeft Spanje niet ver voor het referendum geprobeerd de bevolking via een campagne te overtuigen zich niet af te scheiden?? Waarom hebben Rutte en andere EU leiders, inclusief de EU zelf, geen zware kritiek geuit op de Spaanse regering?? Immers het geweld van gisteren ‘kwam bepaald niet uit de lucht vallen’ dat heeft de Spaanse overheid de laatste weken immers keer op keer aangekondigd!!

has been a very long day in Spain, and it is not over yet. At least
465 people attempting to vote were injured on
Sunday by Spanish police trying to prevent Catalonia’s independence
referendum.

Violent clashes between Catalans and the Spanish police have led to 216 people injured in Barcelona, 80 in Girona, 64 in Lleida, 53 in Terres de l’Ebre, 27 in Catalunya central and 25 in Tarragona, accordingto the Catalan health ministry. Spanish police have gone so far as to physically attack Catalan firefighters and push back against Catalan police attempting to protect voters.

While
many Catalans were able to successfully cast their ballots in the
referendum declared illegal by Spanish authorities, police violently
prevented hundreds from voting for independence. Barcelona’s
mayor is now calling
for the
Spanish prime minister to resign amid the violence and chaos. Jeremy
Corbyn is calling on the Spanish government to end its “shocking”
violence used on Catalans who are simply trying to vote.

Een prominent Tory-lid, journalist en leider van de ‘CLEAR Cannabis Law Reform campaign group’*, Peter Reynolds heeft zijn lidmaatschap van de partij opgezegd en steekt dit bepaald niet onder stoelen of banken.

Lees zijn relaas, waarin hij May als premier zonder mandaat en misdadiger afschildert, een misdadiger die ‘in het openbaar’ zou moeten worden gestraft………

Het neoliberale beleid van May en haar regering is desastreus, zeker voor de grote onderlaag in Groot-Brittannië, een onderlaag waarvan meer dan 4 miljoen kinderen al jaren met honger naar school moeten, waar ze te eten krijgen…… Je gaat als inhumane neoliberale regering natuurlijk niet zorgen dat de ouders meer geld krijgen, zodat ze zelf hun kinderen te eten kunnen geven, ‘stel je voor……..’

Normaal toch, dat die kinderen met een trauma komen te zitten, dat ze hun leven lang niet meer kwijt raken…..? De armoede moet natuurlijk wel als afschrikwekkend middel op grootte worden gehouden, zodat de arbeiders braaf hun werk tegen een veel te laag salaris blijven uitvoeren, niet gaan staken, waarbij ze de kans lopen ontslagen te worden en ze ook in armoede kunnen wegzinken……..

Peter
Reynolds is
a journalist and leader of the CLEAR Cannabis Law Reform
campaign group. He previously worked as Creative Director for PR
firm Saatchi & Saatchi, and wrote a weekly column for The
Independent.
But Reynolds is also a vocal member of the Conservative
Party, writing about
party policy and general politics.

On
31 August, he used his blog to publish his resignation letter from
the Tory party – following months of
criticism of May’s leadership.

“Farcical”
May

Reynolds
reproduced his emailed resignation, which you can read in full here.
It began:

“After
the disastrous handling of the EU referendum result, the ludicrous
decision to appoint one of the most incompetent and out-of-touch
ministers as Prime Minister and her farcical election performance, I
have been wrestling for some time as to whether to renew my
membership.”

He
went on to call May
an “authoritarian bigot” with “no mandate” and “no
respect”. He also took aim at the cabinet, saying:

“It
is also self-evident that all other minsters are too weak, cowardly
and neurotic about their own jobs to do anything to stop her.”

Prepare
your rotten tomatoes

But
he also gave a critical appraisal of how May and her cabinet are
dealing with Brexit, saying they
have:

“failed
entirely to plan for a leave vote and they have dithered, waffled,
dodged and tripped up again and again, achieving absolutely nothing
in the period since the result.”

He
concludes that May has “wrecked” Brexit and “damaged Britain
irreparably in the process”. He says this has left the UK in a
“tragic and diminished state”. And he also thinks May
“richly deserves” a punishment for her failings:

“ if
I had my way Mrs May would be led in chains out of Downing Street and
placed in stocks in Parliament Square to endure the humiliation she
so richly deserves.”

Oh,
Jeremy Corbyn!

But
while Reynolds’ email is blistering, it’s his
previous appraisal of
the Conservative Party more broadly which could give May food for
thought. In an article called Has
There Ever Been A Worse UK Government Than This?, he points to
multiple failings going back to David Cameron’s era which have led
the Tories to the weakened position they’re in now.

He asserts in
the piece that May is a:

“fake
Tory, an authoritarian bureaucrat with big government, nanny state
instincts, daughter of a high Anglican priest stuck in some 1950s
delusion of what Britain is today.”

But
at the same time, he notes that:

“a
socialist activist but a man with integrity, courage and vision has
stolen our place. Jeremy Corbyn provides more leadership in the UK
than the entire Conservative cabinet put together. He was magnificent
at Glastonbury, seizing the hearts and minds of not just the young
but the young at heart – seizing the future! Where is the Tory
alternative?”

Not
unusual

Reynolds’
views come as the latest opinion polling gives Corbyn’s
Labour a five-point lead over the Tories. So the PM would do well to
have a read of Reynolds’ criticisms.
Because as it stands, her party is looking more and more fragile by
the day. And the views of this rather ‘liberal’ Tory could well
ring true with the public.

Radiohead heeft lak aan de protesten tegen het optreden in apartheidsstaat Israël………. Boycot Radiohead!!

De Britse band Radiohead zal op 19 juli a.s. spelen in Israël. Het aangekondigde concert in Tel Aviv heeft een storm van protest opgeroepen (‘natuurlijk amper of niet’ in Nederland…..). Zelfs veel fans hebben de band verzocht het fascistische apartheidsregime in Israël niet te legitimeren met een concert…..

Opvallend dat Yorke, de ‘voorman’ van Radiohead o.a. met het algemeen lamme westerse excuus kwam, dat een boycot op Israël niet constructief is voor de situatie en het zou de dialoog (tussen Israël en de Palestijnen, Ap) dwarsbomen……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! U weet wel, de eenzijdige dialoog van Israël, die keer op keer aankondigt de illegale nederzettingen op de illegaal bezette West bank uit te breiden, de dialoog waarmee Israël zelfs kinderen zonder enige vorm van proces vast zet, de dialoog waarmee Israël de openluchtgevangenis Gazastrook bombardeert als het zo uitkomt, de dialoog waarmee Israël humanitaire projecten zoals die uit Nederland de nek omdraait……*

The Radiohead frontman called boycott efforts ‘an extraordinary waste of energy’ [Reuters]

Radiohead have hit back at a campaign urging the British band to cancel a scheduled concert in Israel, calling efforts to get them to adhere to the Palestinian call to Boycott, Divest from, and Sanction (BDS) Israel “offensive”.

The experimental rock icons are scheduled to close a tour on July 19 in Tel Aviv, but a number of activists and artists, including Nobel Prize-winning anti-apartheid icon Desmond Tutu, novelist Alice Walker and Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters, have urged Radiohead to heed Palestinian activists’ calls.

The open letter, signed by dozens of other artists and public figures, reminded Radiohead: “Palestinians have appealed to you to take one small step to help pressure Israel to end its violation of basic rights and international law.”

“Please do what artists did in South Africa’s era of oppression: stay away, until apartheid is over,” the letter added.

Radiohead had initially stayed silent on the boycott calls, even as a banner urging them to cancel the Tel Aviv show was hung at a recent concert in Berkeley, California.

But Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke responded on Friday that boycott campaigns sow divisions that fuel right-wing leaders such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May.

“All of this creates divisive energy. You’re not bringing people together. You’re not encouraging dialogue or a sense of understanding,” Yorke told Rolling Stone magazine.

“It’s such an extraordinary waste of energy. Energy that could be used in a more positive way,” he said.

But Samir Eskanda, a British-Palestinian musician and manager, said that boycotts are in fact meant to be divisive.

“Boycotts called for by an oppressed people against that system of oppression are by definition ‘divisive’,” Eskanda told Al Jazeera.

“They divide those who support human rights and an end to oppression from those who choose to be oblivious to the struggle for those rights and who abrogate their moral obligation to do no harm.”

Yorke and his bandmates have played concerts to support Tibetan rights, Amnesty International and the battle against climate change.

The Radiohead frontman called it “patronising in the extreme” to presume Radiohead is unfamiliar with the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, pointing out that guitarist Jonny Greenwood’s wife is an Israeli.

“It’s really upsetting that artists I respect think we are not capable of making a moral decision ourselves after all these years,” he said.

“They talk down to us and I just find it mind-boggling that they think they have the right to do that,” he said.

But Seamus O’Brolchain, a member of the UK-based activist group Radiohead Fans for Palestine, said that Yorke seemed to be mistaken about the origins of the boycott call.

“Thom seems to think the call to boycott has come from people like [award-winning director] Ken Loach and Roger Waters, but that isn’t true. The call has come from the Palestinian people who are living under apartheid – how can they talk down to a millionaire rock star?” O’Brolchain told Al Jazeera.

“Our fans campaign has tried to open a dialogue with the band, but they ignored us,” O’Brolchain added. “Radiohead bassist] Colin Greenwood refused to accept our letters when they were presented to him. He didn’t even want to read them. The band’s publicists and agents haven’t returned our calls.”

“We made the mistake of thinking Radiohead were the kind of band who would be willing to have a dialogue with their fans.”

In the interview, Yorke also lashed out at the academic boycott, saying of universities: “The one place where you need to be free to express everything you possibly can. You want to tell these people you can’t do that?”

But according to Eskanda, Yorke’s comments appear to be made without regard to the situation that the Palestinians live under: “While the Palestinian BDS movement endorses a free exchange of ideas, it is obvious that it has to be just that: free, which excludes situations of colonial oppression, apartheid and military occupation.”

Speaking to Al Jazeera in response as to why Yorke “just can’t understand why going to play a rock show [in Israel … is a problem]”, Eskanda quoted Enuga S. Reddy, who was director of the UN Centre Against Apartheid, and in 1984 spoke of “people who have performed in South Africa because of ignorance of the situation or the lure of money or unconcern over racism.

“They need to be persuaded to stop entertaining apartheid, to stop profiting from apartheid money and to stop serving the propaganda purposes of the apartheid regime,” Reddy said.

Yorke’s latest comments also appeared to be at odds with public opinion in the UK.

A new poll published on Friday by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign showed that “43 percent of Brits thought the Palestinian call for BDS was reasonable – over three times as many as those who thought it was unreasonable (13 percent)”.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s findings also found that “support for Palestine is remarkably consistent across party lines – despite [Labour Party leader Jeremy] Corbyn and May’s differing views on the subject”, as nearly half the British population think the UK should review its trade and financial relationships with illegal Israeli settlements.

* Vanmorgen werd bekend gemaakt, dat Israël een Nederlands zonnepanelen project, waarmee een Palestijns dorp op de West Bank van elektriciteit werd voorzien, deels heeft vernield en in het geheel heeft ontmanteld. Dit omdat de illegale Israëlische militaire autoriteit op de illegaal bezette West Bank, geen bouwvergunning had afgegeven……… De Nederlandse correspondent van Radio1 Jan Franke, stelde dat bij de ontmanteling van het project ‘ook vernielingen werden aangericht’, dit terwijl de BBC al berichtte, dat het grootste deel van de zonnepanelen werd vernield……

De uitslag van de Britse verkiezingen: het bewijs dat de dood van het inhumane neoliberalisme nabij is?

Gisteren ontving ik van Anti-Media een artikel met in de kop de conclusie dat de dood van het neoliberalisme nakend is……. Dat is maar zeer de vraag, zeker als je de pogingen van de westerse neoliberale politiek ziet, om zaken als privacy, de vrije meningsuiting (o.a. in de sociale media), arbeidsrecht, huurrecht en klokkenluiden de nek om te draaien, dit ten bate van diezelfde neoliberale politiek, instellingen als woningcorporaties, de bankenmaffia, grote bedrijven en de relatief kleine groep welgestelden…..

De schrijver van het artikel, Darius Shahtahmasebi, betoogt dat het bewijs voor de dood van het neoliberalisme, is te destilleren uit de verkiezingen in Groot-Brittannië, waar May een groot verlies leed en waar de echt linkse koers van Corbyn een fikse overwinning boekte.

Shahtahmasebi stelt terecht dat Corbyn heeft gewonnen, ondanks de smerige campagne die de propagandisten van het neoliberalisme, de reguliere media in GB voerden tegen Corbyn. Dit is dan ook het bewijs voor de naderende dood van het neoliberalisme, aldus Shahtahmasebi.

In veel van de zaken die Shahtahmasebi noemt kan ik me wel vinden, echter gezien alle doorgevoerde maatregelen om het volk te kunnen controleren*, waarbij men de alternatieve media beschuldigt van het brengen van nepnieuws (of ‘fake news’ zo u wilt), is het maar zeer de vraag of hij het gelijk aan zijn kant heeft (hoe graag velen, inclusief ikzelf dat ook zouden willen)…… Boris Johnson liet na het verlies van zijn partij bij de onlangs gehouden verkiezingen al weten, dat de media (inclusief de sociale media) gecontroleerd moeten worden** (lees: gecensureerd moeten worden)………

Election Proved the Death of Neoliberalism Is Finally Here

(ANTIMEDIA) — Just
last week, prominent U.K. newspaper the Telegraph ran
an article entitled
“Jeremy Corbyn the mime artist: Don’t vote for the man with no
answers.” The opening line – the one line most likely to be read
beyond its overly biased title – reads “Jeremy
Corbyn is one of the most radical prospective Prime Ministers this
country has ever seen.”

The
same day, this same newspaper ran another article entitled
“Jeremy Corbyn is a danger to this nation. At MI6, which I once
led, he wouldn’t clear the security vetting.”

A
day later, the Telegraph declared that
a victory for Corbyn would mean a “hard Brexit and doom for the
economy.”

Taken
together, the evidence overwhelmingly shows that Corbyn has suffered
a barrage
of attacks courtesy
of the mainstream media. Honorable mentions go to the Daily
Mail,
whose front page had a picture of Jeremy Corbyn with the massive
headline “apologists for terror,” and the Sun, whose
front page had an enormous headline that read “Jezza’s [a
childish nickname for Jeremy Corbyn] Jihadi Comrades.” (You can see
these headlines and others here.)

Following
Corbyn’s surge in the general elections, the Telegraph ran
another article,
this time entitled “To the millions of people who voted for Jeremy
Corbyn: you scare me.”

The
attacks keep on coming, even though the recent
elections indicate that
the people are no longer buying the propaganda. Another leading U.K.
newspaper, the Guardian,
spent years bashing Corbyn even though they knew approximately 78
percent of their readers backed Corbyn in the first place.

Learning
their lessons from
their coverage of Brexit and Trump’s election bid, the Guardian is
now changing their
tactic and giving generous media coverage to Corbyn’s position as
the leader of the opposition party. This is clearly not a genuine and
sincere move but a calculated response to their dying status as an
international newspaper (at the end of every article,
the Guardian begs
for donations).

We
have seen this all too often before: the mainstream media rams a
particular candidate down our throats and ignores the fact that the
people no longer want that type of person or their ideology running
the show. In the case of the 2016 U.S. elections, the U.K. general
elections have again given
rise to the idea that
Bernie Sanders could have won the elections last year, but that the
people were denied this opportunity.

The
fact that someone as vile and dangerous as Donald Trump won last year
instead of Hillary Clinton tells us one important thing: it didn’t
really matter who the alternative to Clinton was because the people
are fed up with the status quo. When people see a failing economy, a
wave of terror attacks, or a refugee crisis, for example – they are
hardly going to be so naive as to accept the candidate who runs on a
simple platform of “We need to keep doing the same things we
have been doing for decades.” As long as the candidate can
distance themselves from these failing policies, it ultimately won’t
matter how racist, authoritarian, or unpredictable they are.

Similarly,
Corbyn may have operated on the complete opposite end of the
political spectrum (for 30
years, one
might add), but he ran on a platform of opposing the status quo,
particularly when it comes to matters of war and terrorism. A
recent poll
found the
U.K. public agrees with Corbyn’s view on the causes of terrorism.

After
a number of attacks in which people see their own dying before them,
the dialogue ceases to be incessant obsession about who their
government should bomb in response (given they have been doing that
incessantly since 2001 with no tangible results), but a rational
discussion regarding how we can effectively stop innocent people from
dying on their own soil.

The
people aren’t stupid, but the mainstream media will most likely
continue to find this out the hard way. While Corbyn didn’t
outright win the election in the U.K., technically, the loss of
confidence requires the incumbent, Theresa May, to resign. The power
should instead cede to Corbyn’s side.

Unsurprisingly,
May is refusing to budge and still wants to press forward with
her plans to
regulate the conversation on the internet. How else will she be able
to stay in power, especially considering the internet is how we have
learned of her deep
and dark secrets regarding
the role she played in fostering known terrorists?

However,
the most important lesson to learn is that Corbyn achieved this
partial victory (note that almost
two-thirds of
May’s own party want her to resign) in the face of an obsessive
media onslaught that sought to completely undermine him at every
turn. Despite this one-sidedness, a new poll has
found that Corbyn would most likely win a second general election and
become the country’s prime minister, further cementing the idea
that the corporate media is once again on the wrong side of history.

Imagine
who would really be in power in the United States and the United
Kingdom if members of the mainstream media did their jobs and
reported accurately instead of advancing an outdated and dangerous
neoliberal, neoconservative agenda.

* Maatregelen als -cameratoezicht, -het op grote schaal tappen van telefoons en (andere) computers, -het continu voorliegen van de bevolking door politici, -de steeds grotere uitbreiding van de bevoegdheden voor de geheime diensten en -het tegengaan door de overheid en het bedrijfsleven van klokkenluiden (hoewel de overheid keer op keer stelt, klokkenluiders te willen beschermen…). Voorts kan je stellen, dat men in het westen behoorlijk is geslaagd, de bevolking te binden aan een (peperduur) koophuis (of een dito huurhuis), zodat men wel uitkijkt om de kont tegen de krib te gooien…… Immers men zal zich 3 keer bedenken voor men in opstand komt, omdat daarmee het onderdak in gevaar kan komen (ontslag, gevangenisstraf enz.). Niet voor niets wil men het liefst zoveel mogelijk flexibele arbeidskrachten, mensen die niet zeker zijn of ze over een half jaar nog werk zullen hebben en om het minste geringste ontslagen kunnen worden, deze arbeidskrachten zijn al helemaal als de dood ‘een scheve stap’ te zetten……….

Overigens zijn ook de illegale oorlogen die de VS voert en die door diverse westerse landen worden gesteund (op wat voor manier dan ook), een vehikel om de bevolking rustig te houden. De bevolking wordt voorgelogen, dat men wel oorlog moet voeren, om ‘onze vrijheden en onze veiligheid te waarborgen’, terwijl deze oorlogen juist het tegenovergestelde veroorzaken en voor terreur zorgen op de westerse straten……… De angst onder de westerse bevolking vanwege die terreur, wordt door de neoliberale regeringen dankbaar gebruikt om de vrijheden van hun bevolking steeds verder in te kunnen perken, zoals u hiervoor ook kon lezen….. Angst is geen drijfveer voor opstand, eerder voor het roepen om een dictator…… Gelukkig heeft Corbyn e.e.a. wel door kunnen prikken in GB, waar velen nu overtuigd zijn van het feit, dat westers ingrijpen in het Midden-Oosten terreur op Britse (en andere westerse) straten brengt, zoals Shahtahmasebi in zijn artikel beschrijft.

Boris Johnson wil de media controleren, daar hij de pest heeft aan kritiek op zijn Tory Party, ofwel Conservatieve Partij. Dit NB na een enorme smerige campagne (in aanloop van de verkiezingen) tegen Labour leider Corbyn, door de reguliere Britse media (waaronder de roddelbladen)……..

Johnson heeft door dat de reguliere media nog amper gewicht in de schaal leggen en de Britten zich massaal op de alternatieve media hebben verlaten in aanloop van die verkiezingen…….. Dit heeft geleid tot een verkiezingsuitslag die rampzalig is verlopen voor de regering May, Labour het opvallend goed heeft gedaan. Dit ondanks de smerige campagne die tegen hem werd gevoerd door de roddelbladen (en de reguliere media in GB), zo werd hij uitgemaakt als steunpilaar voor terroristische groeperingen.

Reguliere media in de vorige zin tussen haakjes, daar men in dit artikel niet spreekt over de reguliere media die precies hetzelfde deden als de roddelbladen. In de laatste link in het artikel (die in rood), wordt zelfs een BBC redacteur genoemd, die stelt dat de tabloids (roddelbladen) hun krediet bij het publiek hebben verspeeld en daarmee hun bestaan te grabbel hebben gegooid…. Ongelofelijk dat iemand van de BBC het gore lef heeft om dat te zeggen! Er ging geen dag voorbij, of de BBC had wel commentaar op Corbyn, ofwel zweeg hem dood, terwijl hij het nieuws had moeten halen met uitspraken, peilingen of aanvallen op smerig beleid van de inhumane regering May. Als je de BBC moest geloven, was Corbyn totaal incompetent………

Gegarandeerd dat Johnson met zijn uitspraken niet alleen controle wil uitoefenen op de roddelbladen, maar ook doelt op de sociale media.. The Canary die gisteren onderstaand artikel plaatste, stelt dat dit Johnson niet zal lukken, echter dat is maar zeer de vraag, daar Johnson bepaald niet alleen staat in zijn roep om de (sociale) media ‘te controleren’ (lees: te censureren)….. Wat betreft de reguliere media (inclusief de BBC), die heeft Johnson allang in zijn zak……..

A
free and democratic press

The
dramatic results of the general election and the ensuing hung
parliament have caught many
media pundits by surprise. But unsurprisingly, given that Theresa
May’s government now hangs by a thin thread – supported by
a confidence and supply agreement with the DUP that doesn’t appear
to have been finalised, the media are asking questions.

Central
to these questions are whether May has the mandate or the ability to
form a workable government. And given her utter failure to deliver
her stated aim of a “strong and stable” government, questions
will also arise about whether she can continue as leader.

A
hung parliament also raises questions over
whether there will have to be another general election. If neither
main party manages to gain enough votes to get a Queen’s speech
approved in parliament, then there will be.

These
are all crucial questions that people on the right and left of
the political spectrum will be asking. And they will be looking to
our media, in all its various forms, to discuss and analyse these
questions. This is not “mischief”. This is what’s necessary in
these uncertain times. And indeed, it should be the norm regardless.

Business
as usual

Johnson’s
message is business as usual with his eighth
point – “get
on with the job” being indicative of this. He also calls for MPs to
unite behind May. And he talked about
how he wants to control the narrative:

“We
have got to stop the narrative that Corbyn somehow won this thing –
he barely did better than Gordon useless Brown when we beat him in
2010. “

The
problem for Johnson is the two results are not comparable. May was
projected a landslide victory.
And Labour’s campaign has forced the Tories into a hung parliament.
Labour might not have won this election. But there is no way of
spinning this as a victory for the Tories.

May
can talk about
a “government of certainty” until she is blue in the face. But
nothing is certain, and it is not business as usual by any stretch of
the imagination.

A
changed landscape

But
the other major headache for Johnson is that there is now a different
media landscape. Politicians can no longer issue edicts to
the press and expect the rest of the population to fall in line.

Whether
it is The
Canary,
or places like Evolve
Politics and Another
Angry Voice,
people now have a strong independent media that is not dominated by
billionaires or a Westminster elite.

Time
and time again, Johnson has shown himself
to be a shameless liar. One who is prepared to stoop as low
as stealing interview
notes. He now wants to control the media agenda. But luckily, he’s
in for a nasty surprise. And the reach and scope of the corporate
media is now well and truly out
of the control of
