De rechter in Münster heeft gisteren voorlopig een streep gezet door de smerige plannen van RWE (o.a. Essent en Innogy) om zo ongeveer het laatste deel van het Hambacher Forst te rooien voor Bruinkooldelving, bruinkool je weet wel nog net een stuk smeriger dan steenkool…..
Bij de verbranding van bruinkool komt niet alleen veel CO2 en fijnstof vrij, maar ook grote hoeveelheden zwavel….. Uiteraard is de verbranding van bruinkool ongelofelijk slecht voor de volksgezondheid en drijft het de zorgkosten nog verder op…….
Een voorlopige overwinning dus, waarbij de rechter o.a. wees op het belang zo snel mogelijk te stoppen met de verbranding van fossiele brandstoffen, om zo klimaatakkoorden te kunnen nakomen. Voorts kon RWE niet bewijzen dat het rooien van het bos en de winning van bruinkool nodig is voor een zekere energievoorziening.
Vandaag verwacht men in het Hambacher Forst rond de 30.000 mensen, van kinderen tot opa’s en oma’s, morgen gevolgd door een gelijk aantal mensen, die aanvankelijk zouden demonstreren, maar die nu een ‘zegetocht’ houden. De sfeer is ronduit geweldig zo was een uur geleden op WDR 5 te horen, alles omgeven met muziek en andere culturele uitingen.
Nu maar hopen dat RWE voorgoed in het ongelijk wordt gesteld, deze schoften hebben lak aan de volksgezondheid of het voortbestaan van de wereld….. Boycot daarom de energieleveranciers Essent en Innogy, beiden van RWE, waar deze smeerpijp-firma met de laatste genoemde firma haar immens vuile poten probeert schoon te wassen, immers Innogy is zogenaamd een leverancier van duurzame energie………
Mijn felicitaties voor de actievoerders in het Hambacher Forst, die al 6 jaar in boomhuizen wonen en zich met hand en tand tegen het rooien van het bos hebben verzet!
In het WDR nieuws van 1.00 u. afgelopen nacht, de melding dat de eerste dode is gevallen in het Hambacher Forst, het laatste deel van een groot bos dat RWE wil kappen om daar middels dagbouw bruinkool te winnen…… Een journalist is van een provisorisch gemaakte hangbrug gevallen en daarbij omgekomen….
De politie is gisteren na het ongeval gestopt met het ontruimen van het bos, dat bestaat uit de sloop van boomhuizen en de arrestatie van de bewoners/activisten die zich volkomen terecht verzetten tegen deze ontruiming…… Intussen zijn de ontruimingen alweer aan de gang, echter de woorden extreem linkse activisten worden niet meer gebruikt (voor zover ik kon vinden). Extreem linkse activisten die zich niet neerleggen bij het naar de kloten helpen van een bos en de wereld in het groot…….
Nog steeds spreken voorstanders van de kap, zoals RWE dat er 30.000 arbeidsplaatsen zijn gemoeid met de bruinkool die men in het Hambacher Forst wil delven….. Een heel smerige leugen, daar men de bruinkool met immens grote machines uit de grond haalt en de centrales die bruinkool verbranden staan er al lang….. Daarnaast: wat is belangrijker het voortbestaan van de mensheid (op een nog enigszins normale manier) of de werkgelegenheid???
Daarover gesproken: hoeveel doden moeten er nog vallen door de klimaatverandering, voor men eindelijk stopt met de verbranding van olie (inclusief eindproducten benzine en diesel), steenkool en de vuilste variant bruinkool??? Neem de doden die bij de laatste 2 orkanen zijn gevallen op de de Filipijnen, in de VS en in China, deze orkanen worden sterker naarmate de klimaatverandering zich cumulatief* steeds sneller voltrekt….
Ook overstromingen vinden meer en meer plaats en eisen een groot aantal doden, ook deze overstromingen worden heviger door de klimaatverandering…..
Bij dit alles moet niet vergeten worden dat bossen CO2 en fijnstof opnemen en ons zuurstof leveren……
De ‘Kolen Commissie’ in Duitsland maakte tijdens de ophef in Duitsland over deze zaak, trots bekend dat men in 2035 de verbranding van kolen stopt…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Dat is 22 jaar te laat……. Ondanks dat liet RWE afgelopen zaterdag weten onaangenaam verrast te zijn over de uitlatingen van de Kolen Commissie, daar zij daar niet in werd gekend…….. De topfiguren van bedrijven als RWE moeten eindelijk strafrechtelijk worden vervolgd wegens meervoudige massamoord!! De hoogste tijd voor een luchtkwaliteit- en klimaattribunaal met verregaande bevoegdheden!!(door de vuile lucht van o.a. kolencentrales sterven ook nog eens een fiks aantal mensen aan kanker en andere akelige ziekten….)
Mensen boycot Essent en Innogy, beide in feite in bezit van RWE, waar Innogy** godbetert over een beter klimaat durft te spreken in haar smerige reclames…….
* Cumulatief: bijvoorbeeld door het smelten van de poolkap in het noordelijk poolgebied, wordt het zonlicht niet langer weerkaatst door sneeuw en ijs, daardoor neemt het vrijgekomen zeewater veel warmte op, waardoor de opwarming van de aarde verder wordt gestimuleerd, met als gevolg dat er nog meer ijs afsmelt, enz. enz….. Hetzelfde geldt voor de permafrost: door de opwarming van de aarde ontdooit deze permafrost, waarbij één van de sterkste broeikasgassen vrijkomt, te weten methaan, dat zorgt ervoor dat de klimaatverandering verder wordt aangejaagd en dat zorgt er dan weer voor dat er nog meer permafrost ontdooit enz. enz……

Neil
deGrasse Tyson is de astrofisicus die vaak te zien is in programma’s
over het buitenaardse en is een goede verteller, kan niet anders
zeggen. Helaas heeft deze wetenschapper een heel vuil randje, zo is
hij voorstander van Trump’s militarisering van ‘de aardse ruimte’ en mocht
het de VS lukken hier de dominante factor te worden, kunnen we pas
echt onze borst natmaken.

The
idea for this article came from one of those annoying “Recommended
for you” thumbnails on YouTube. The title was: “Neil deGrasse
Tyson: Trump’s Space Force (USSF) Is Not a Crazy Idea.” Having written
about and researched space weapons for over a decade, I was intrigued
as to why a seemingly intelligent man (Tyson) would want to help
promote an agenda that will literally imperil us all, namely the
weaponization of space: the end-game of which is global domination in
the interests of economic neoliberalism. So I clicked. Tyson was
talking to host Stephen Colbert about the wonders of space
militarization (by the US, of course, not its enemies).
It
turns out that Tyson is promoting a new, co-authored book, Accessory
to War: the Unspoken Alliance Between Astrophysics and the
Military(W.W.
Norton, released, tastelessly, on 11 September), which is all about
the history of science militarization. The book is a disgraceful
attempt to use history as an excuse to justify the continuation and
expansion of taxpayer-funded R&D into hi-technology via military
budgets. By now, the hi-tech sector dominates the top US
corporations: Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. Much of
the innovations used by these companies were initiated in the
military.
Tyson
is doing the rounds on national media, including Colbert and CBS
This Morning, to
promote the book and more broadly continued public expenditure on the
Pentagon. After a little digging, I found that America’s favourite
astrophysicist is a glorified salesman for the
military-industrial-complex.
TYSON’S
MILITARY-SCIENCE BACKGROUND
Having
graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, Tyson went on to
earn a PhD in astrophysics from Columbia University in 1991. From
1996, Tyson has been Frederick P. Rose director of the Hayden
Planetarium at
the American Museum of Natural History.
Pretty
soon, the George W. Bush administration was calling on Tyson’s
talents for all things space-related. Under President Bill Clinton,
the Space Command (later Air Force Space Command [USAFSC]) announced plans to
dominate the entire world by force, “Full
Spectrum Dominance” as
the successors continue to call it. In 2001, under Bush, the Rumsfeld
Space Commission, sought
ways to expand the weaponization of space to reinforce US-led
corporate globalization and the architecture — satellites, GPS, the
internet, etc. — that supports it. In the same year, Tyson became a
formal employee of the Bush administration. One of his biographical
webpages states:
“In
2001, Tyson was appointed by President Bush to serve on a 12-member
commission that studied the Future of the US Aerospace Industry. The
final report was published in 2002 and contained recommendations (for
Congress and for the major agencies of the government) that would
promote a thriving future of transportation, space exploration, and
national security.”
The
Final Report of the Commission on the Future of the United
StatesAerospace Industry, on
which Tyson worked, makes for an interesting read. It starts from an
elite-nationalistic viewpoint, namely that of maintaining US
supremacy in innovation before, discussing in Appendix G:
“Astronautical research and development, including resources,
personnel, equipment, and facilities; Outer space exploration and
control.” “Control,” no less. Controlling space is a core part
of “Full Spectrum Dominance.” Tyson’s biography
also states that
in 2004, he:
“was
once again appointed by President Bush to serve on a 9-member
commission on the Implementation of the United States Space
Exploration Policy, dubbed the ‘Moon, Mars, and Beyond’
commission. This group navigated a path by which the new space vision
can become a successful part of the American agenda.”
“Of
particular importance to the space exploration vision is a strong
partnership between NASA and the Department of Defense, where
research, technical assistance, and operational assets are often
shared. The Commission believes that the role of the existing
Partnership Council – wherein NASA, the Air Force, and National
Reconnaissance Office (NRO) coordinate mutual work and interests – should
also focus actively on supporting the new vision.”
The
report says the US should “DARPA-ize” (my phrase) NASA. DARPA is
the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency which uses taxpayer
money to innovate the hi-technology which now dominates the top-ten
list of US corporations. DARPA famously brought us the internet, for
instance. The report says:
“we
suggest that the Administration and Congress create within NASA an
organization drawing upon lessons learned from the Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency (DARPA). DARPA is a highly successful
organization that is chartered to fund high-risk/high return basic
research in support of national defense priorities.”
R&D
SALESMAN
The
high-risk is paid for by the taxpayer who then buy back the given
product on the consumer market. For example: touch-screen technology
now used by Apple, for instance, came out of technology developed
for the Air Force.
Disturbingly,
the report recommends that NASA integrate a contract system like the
US Missile “Defense” program, which is so essential to the
overall goal of “Full Spectrum Dominance” (on his recent CBS
piece, Tyson doesn’t challenge the erroneous assumption that
the system is for “defense”), The report says:
“In the case of U.S. Missile Defense, for example, the integrator
is responsible for the overall system of systems architecture, and
for integrating the space, air, land, and sea elements of the
architecture.”
The
goal of a successful propaganda system is to sell science designed
and applied for military use (itself serving the dual-functions of
ensuring US global corporate supremacy and innovation in the hi-tech
economy) to the public as “cool” and fun. Enter Tyson. Since
working for the federal government on these schemes, he has hosted the
PBS-NOVA series, Origins; worked on The Pluto Files documentary;
appeared on ScienceNOW; and has hosted StarTalk (funded in part by
the taxpayer-funded National Science Foundation [NSF]), which features
comedians who attract laypeople to science.
Tyson
joined the US military’s 15-member Defense Innovation Board (DIB),
launched in 2016. The board advises the Defense Secretary on numerous
issues. DIB continues the all-American tradition of ripping off
taxpayers by using their money to invest in hi-tech innovation under
the cover of a “defense” budget. DIB says:
“Some
of the foremost topics the DIB is exploring include artificial
intelligence, machine learning, workforce capacity, organizational
structure, hiring and retention strategies, acquisition reform,
electronic and drone warfare, software capabilities, and IT
infrastructure.”
FLEECING
THE PUBLIC
So,
with this background, it’s not surprising that Tyson would appear
on national television and talk up the Defense Department. But it’s
crucial for any successful propaganda campaign that his record with
the federal government be suppressed, minimized or justified. Hence,
the failure (refusal?) of host Stephen Colbert to mention any of this
to the casual viewer. The show gives the impression that Tyson is
just a fun and intelligent man with no vested interests. In fact,
Tyson lies and tells both Colbert and CBS: “I have no dog in this
fight” in relation to Trump’s (read: the Pentagon’s) creation
of a “Space Force.”
As
noted, Tyson has been a government advisor and at the time of
appearing on the shows was a member of a DoD board. In addition, we
all have a “dog in the fight” of space weaponization because
fragile and complex space systems could result in catastrophic
failures, including miscommunications which can escalate into
near-terminal catastrophe, as has happened many times in the past in
relation to nuclear weapons (see, for instance, Daniel Ellsberg’s
chilling book, The
DoomsdayMachine).
Adding a space dimension to fraught and dangerous geopolitical
situations only adds to the risk.
Last
month, US Defense Secretary and war criminal, James “it’s
fun to shoot some people” Mattis,
told reporters that the Pentagon was advocating for a separate US
Space Command in response to the Defense Policy Bill’s plan to
integrate space systems under the Strategic Command (which also
oversees nuclear strategy). Mattis was initially against this,
says Space
News, but
has changed his mind in light of Trump’s (read: the Pentagon’s)
insistence on having a “Space Force”.
With
the new “Space Force” (as yet a nickname) potentially going
ahead, the friendly faces of US imperialism are rolled out to justify
expanding the militarization of space. Luckily, Tyson has a new book
on the same topic to promote. In addition, Trump’s undeserved
reputation as a moron (see my book President
Trump, Inc.)
required the media presence of a respected professional (i.e., Tyson)
to promote the “Space Force.”
AN
AMORAL BOOK
In Accessory
to War,
the authors write:
“A
vibrant economy … depends on at least one of the following: the
profit motive, war on the ground, or war in space … Must war
and profit be what drive both civilization on Earth and the
investigation of other worlds? History … makes it hard to answer no
… Star charts, calendars, chronometers, telescopes, maps,
compasses, rockets, satellites, drones–these war not inspirational
civilian endeavors. Dominance was their goal; increase of knowledge
was incidental.
… The
first few years after 9/11 were a fine time to be mercenary, a
military engineering firm, or a giant aerospace company.”
Recall
that Tyson worked to promote the aeroindustry. Tyson acknowledges
that “the space research my colleagues and I conduct plugs firmly
and fundamentally into the nation’s military might.” At a
conference involving military brass, Tyson was directly exposed via
live-feed to the realities of blowing women and children apart with
hi-tech weapons in Iraq in 2003 from high-ground platforms. He
writes, self-pityingly:
“Blinking
back tears and fighting to keep my composure, I thought about leaving
the conference. I began to choreograph my resignation from the board
of the Space Foundation. But at the same time I felt I couldn’t
just walk out of the sanctum of war…
[W]ithout
the power sought by its participants … and without the tandem
investments in technology fostered by that quest for power,
there would be no astronomy, no astrophysics, no astronauts, no
exploration of the solar system, and barely any comprehension of the
cosmos.”
That’s
alright then. Tyson told CBS This Morning that he found a
psychological trick to avoid feeling responsible, namely to blame
everyone else: “I had to re-direct the causes and effects of this
violence, and say, ‘No. It’s us, the electorate’ ” — they
voted Bush in late-2000 (yeah, right). “If you have access to
weaponry that can achieve a geopolitical goal that is noble then, I’m
not there to stand in judgement of it,” he also told CBS.
MEANWHILE,
IN THE REAL WORLD…
Tyson
is careful to avoid mentioning that both China and Russia have
repeatedly advocated for signing a peace treaty with the US, both
for space and cyber
warfare—
not because Russia and China are “good guys,” but because as much
weaker military powers it is in their interests to constrain US
military actions and not provoke the superpower by engaging in the
same, unless the US does it first. In fact, on the Colbert show,
Tyson even mentions the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 and ridicules it
as an equivalent of singing “Cumbayá.”
Meanwhile,
groups are actively thinking up ways to transform military spending
into peaceful R&D for a green- and other hi-tech economy.
A report by
the German-based institute IFSH notes that military R&D is not an
inevitability. Following the end of the Cold War, military R&D
declined. But, “[e]ven in the US, civilian spending is now
substantially larger than military spending.” Why, then, place
emphasis on military R&D, as Tyson does? In most countries,
says the author, “There has been a major shift towards military use
of technologies driven by civilian r&d, particularly in
electronics.”
In
terms of practical alternatives, Campaign Against the Arms
Trade notes that
skills shortages in the UK (the same applies to the US) means that
renewable energy sectors would be glad to employ people previously
skilled in the arms industry. Doing so lacks political will only. In
addition, the Campaign Against Climate Change reckons that
the UK could become a carbon neutral economy, employing one million
people, for £19bn a year, which is about half the current military
budget. This would also involve the kind of technological innovations
currently privileged by the military sector.
The
US transformed itself into a war economy during WWII and has remained
that ever since. But, with enough public pressure, it can be
transformed into a peace- and renewables economy. Don’t let
intellectuals fool you into thinking there are no alternatives to war
— and in this case, potentially terminal war.
Hoorde afgelopen uur op BBC World Service radio (rond 14.20 u. CET) dat er in Nigeria al 2 weken lang grote overstromingen zijn door de aanhoudende enorme regenval……..
Huizen werden en worden door de grote waterstromen meegesleurd of zijn daardoor ingestort…… Intussen zijn er al meer dan 100 doden geteld….
Waar intussen al een week lang enorme aandacht is voor de orkaan Florence aan de oostkust van de VS en in veel mindere mate voor de veel sterkere tyfoon (of: orkaan) Mangkhut die de Filipijnen, Macau en China trof, is er geen aandacht voor de ramp die zich in Nigeria langs 2 grote rivieren voltrekt……..
Ach ja, Nigeria ‘is nu eenmaal een derde klasse land’, waar je ‘natuurlijk zo min mogelijk aandacht aan besteedt…..’
Moet eerlijk toegeven dat na aanvankelijke aarzeling, de reguliere media in het westen wel veel aandacht hebben geschonken aan tyfoon Mangkhut, ook al was dat in veel mindere mate dan voor orkaan Florence, maar ja dan heb je het ook over de gevolgen van een orkaan in het voor de rest van het westen ‘heilige land’ de VS……. De VS, hetzelfde land dat (samen met Australië) de wereld overvoert met goedkope steenkool*, zodat dit soort weergerelateerde rampen door de smerige kolenstook nog veel meer zullen gaan plaatsvinden de komende jaren……..
Ongelofelijk……..
* Niet voor niets staan onze gascentrales stil, waar VVD opperhufter Kamp nog 4 miljard steun gaf voor het slopen van bossen in de VS, zodat men daarvan houtpellets kan maken voor ‘biobijstook’ in de nieuwe kolencentrales in ons land (die godbetert pas in 2030 dichtgaan, terwijl wij intussen volkomen belachelijk van het gas af moeten……)
Mensen geeft het door: boycot RWE-Essent (Essent), en Innogi (Nederland, een dochteronderneming van RWE), dit vanwege de verdere sloop van het Hambacher Forst, een bos van 12.000 jaar oud bos……. Dit alles anno 2018, waar zo langzamerhand iedereen wel is overtuigd van de menselijke schuld voor de huidige snelle opwarming van de aarde, ofwel de klimaatverandering….. Dit nog naast de enorme vervuiling van de lucht, die jaarlijks aan tienduizenden het leven kost en dat na een akelig ziekbed……
Het ergst van al is wel dat men op de vrijgekomen plek nog meer bruinkool in dagbouw zal winnen, op zich al een smerig karwei, waar de verbranding van deze troep (op de smerige stookolie van zeeschepen na) de smerigste verbranding van fossiele brandstoffen vormt en de klimaatverandering nog verder zal aanjagen……
In feite zou de top van RWE en de politici die deze top steunt, strafrechtelijk moeten worden vervolgd vanwege het moedwillig vermoorden van het grote aantal mensen dat jaarlijks overlijdt door de gevolgen van die klimaatverandering!! (zware orkanen, zoals die in de Filipijnen en de oostkust van de VS en de daarmee opgewekte overstromingen, of de veel zwaardere moesson regens in Zuidoost-Azië). Waar je verder niet moet vergeten dat middels de veroorzaakte luchtvervuiling door verbranding van deze kankerverwekkende fossiele troep, een groot aantal mensen overlijdt…… (daarover zo meer)

De activisten die de sloop van het Hambacher Forst willen voorkomen, worden in de Duitse media meer en meer afgedaan als gewelddadige misdadigers, dit terwijl zij proberen het bos te sparen (goed voor opname fijnstof en de productie van zuurstof) en een verdere stijging van de temperatuur proberen te beperken, beide zaken die het volk ten goede komen…… Terwijl RWE deze zaken juist tegengaat, de CO2 uitstoot zal nog verder stijgen, zelfs de uitstoot van fijn- en ultrafijnstof zal gigantisch omhoog gaan met het verbranden van nog meer bruinkool, zaken die op z’n zachtst gezegd de volksgezondheid niet ten goede komen….

Gistermiddag op WDR 5 rond 12.15 u. een woordvoerder van RWE (kan zijn naam niet terugvinden) die stelde dat RWE juist alles doet om de CO2 uitstoot terug te dringen……. Waarschijnlijk doelde deze plork op het bedrijf Innogy, een dochter van RWE, die de smerige handen schoon moeten wassen van de onverantwoordelijke top van RWE, immers Innogy is zogenaamd een duurzame energieleverancier……..
RWE beheert hier o.a. de uiterst smerige Amercentrale en één van de nieuwe kolencentrales in Eemshaven, voor die laatste kreeg RWE een gigantisch bedrag aan subsidie (rond de 1 miljard euro!!), dit voor de sloop van bossen in de VS, waar men dan ‘eco-houtpellets’ van maakt die na uiterst vervuilende scheepstransporten voor de ‘bio-bijstook’ in de nieuwe kolencentrales worden gebruikt……
De verantwoordelijke schoft voor die belachelijke subsidie is VVD opperhufter Kamp, hij deed dit in de laatste dagen van zijn ministerschap onder smeerpijpenkabinet Rutte 2 (in totaal voor al de 4 nieuwe kolencentrales, ging het om 4 miljard euro aan belastinggeld; over verspilling van belastinggelden gesproken……….) Het zal me niet verbazen als RWE de gerooide bomen via een truc laat toekomen aan de kolencentrale in Eemshaven en alsnog de subsidie van de Nederlandse overheid opstrijkt (RWE is een Duits bedrijf)….. De top bestaat immers uit gewetenloze ‘mensen’ die er geen moeite mee hebben hun medemens om zeep te helpen en het leven op aarde verder onmogelijk te maken, laat staan dat ze moeite hebben met frauderen……
Op diezelfde zender gistermiddag na 13.30 u. een verslaggever van WDR die stelde dat het bos toch al weg moet, daar men op die plek een meer heeft gepland, goed voor het toerisme en daarmee de middenstand…… De smerige oplichter! Dat meer werd daar gepland daar RWE enorme kuilen maakt waar het bruinkool is weggevreten door de enorme machines die men daarvoor gebruikt…..
Beste bezoeker, nogmaals: boycot Essent en Innogy, laat de schoften van RWE weten dat men anno 2018 niet langer is gediend van verdere verrampenering van het landschap, de luchtkwaliteit en het klimaat! (en geeft het ajb door!)
De afgelopen week was het op WDR radio bal, nee niet de wederkomst van Goebels, of het instellen van kopgeld, zelfs niet van grootschalige razzia’s om de neonazi’s de wind totaal uit de zeilen te nemen, nee, het Hambacher bos (Forst), waar RWE (met haar ‘groene dochter’ Innogy) in een groot deel van dat bos (‘opgebouwd’ in de loop van vele jaren) het licht heeft uitgedaan en uitdoet voor de bomen, die al veel te leiden hadden onder de slechte luchtkwaliteit, o.a. veroorzaakt door de uitstoot van RWE………
Twee vliegen in 1 klap, wellicht heeft bedrijven kabinet Rutte 3 al een mooie deal gesloten om die bomen in houtpellets te veranderen als ‘biobijstook’ in de nieuwe kolencentrales die in vol bedrijf zijn (terwijl de gascentrales uitstaan en dan durft men in Rutte 3 te zeggen achter een schoner milieu en minder uitstoot te staan, ‘zoals door het gas in je keuken……’). Nu worden die houtpallets gemaakt van systematisch gesloopte bossen in de VS, waarvoor VVD opperhufter Kamp nog eens 4 miljard aan subsidie heeft gegeven, vlak voor hij vorig jaar vertrok als minister……..
De demonstranten die de sympathie van de bewoners in de buurt hebben, worden in de pers afgedaan als activisten (dat woord heeft vreemd genoeg een negatieve bijklank) en ondanks al het gezeik over geweld van deze ‘activisten’, worden ze nog net niet afgedaan als eco-terroristen…… Uiteraard werd daarmee nogmaals de toon gezet, ik zou zeggen tegen de mensen die het bos willen bewaren en een eind willen maken aan de uiterst vervuilende stook van bruinkool, die ook de klimaatverandering onnodig sterk aanjaagt……. Terwijl deze mensen juist het klimaat nog zoveel mogelijk proberen te sparen voor menselijk geweld, waarmee deze mens NB zichzelf kan uitroeien……
Uiteraard ongelofelijk veel ambtenaren die hun beklag mochten doen, maar amper, of geen woord over de enorm smerige uitstoot van ‘bruinkohl’ en wat dit doet aan de luchtkwaliteit, nee werkgelegenheid über alles……. Waar ‘ook al niet’ over werd gesproken was wat de winst van ‘volwassen’ bossen is: het opnemen van CO2 en fijnstof, plus het leveren van zuurstof……
Nee, het zijn degenen die onze aarde nog een beetje willen beschermen, die worden afgedaan als de misdadigers, terwijl topgraaiers die de aarde vernielen, hikkend van de lach toekijken……
STOP HET GEWELD VAN RWE: boycot RWE en Innogy (zogenaamd zelfstandig) en laat daarmee de topgraaiers weten dat ze niet langer over de rug van het volk, de natuur en het klimaat hun gigantische kapitalen kunnen vergaren…….
Daarover gesproken: tijd dat de topgraaiers die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de vergiftiging van de mens en de aarde in het groot, strafrechtelijk worden vervolgd!!

twitterde lovende woorden over McCain na diens ‘verscheiden’, zo
durfde deze republikeinse hufter te stellen dat de erfenis van
McCain het toonbeeld is van menselijk fatsoen en ‘dienstbaarheid’ aan
de VS……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Beste bezoeker dat was het
nog niet, Ocasio-Cortez schreef voorts: als stagiair heeft ze van
McCain de kracht van menselijkheid in regeren geleerd, door zijn vriendschap
met senator Kennedy…….. Ja, ik kan wel blijven lachen, jezus,
waar haalt ze het vandaan??? Blijkbaar wil deze Ocasio-Cortez over
een paar jaar op voor het presidentschap in de VS, immers ze moet
weten wat een enorm bloedige erfenis deze McCain heeft
achtergelaten………
Overigens
de reguliere media hier kunnen er ook wat van, de ene superlatief na
de andere over deze misselijk psychopaat……. Het defecte BNR kompas voor het buitenland, zwetskont Hammelburg vond het vanmorgen nodig om in z’n column McCain een aantal veren in de reet te steken, ach ja, Hammelburg…… Laat ik ook één superlatief toevoegen: McCain was een enorme schoft en oorlogsmisdadiger die in
de gevangenis van Scheveningen dood had moeten gaan! (na een levenslange veroordeling door het Internationaal Strafhof)

het uitgebreide artikel van Johnstone, waarin ze beschrijft hoe de meeste veelbelovende politici je keer op keer weer weten teleur te stellen. Jammer dat Johnstone zegt dat ook socialistische regimes keer op keer mislukken (en er eigenlijk nooit echte socialistische regimes zijn geweest), echter dat heeft alles te maken met de grote vijand van het socialisme, de VS, die keer op keer succesvolle socialistische regimes probeert af te zetten (wat vaak genoeg is gelukt), waar de VS eerst zo’n land economisch onderuit haalt, door boycots en niet VS bedrijven (VS bedrijven lopen wat dat betreft braaf aan de leiband) te dreigen met sancties als men toch zaken doet met zo’n land, neem Cuba, Chili en nu weer Venezuela (waar Iran in feite een succesvolle socialistische politiek voert, wordt dit land door de VS nu op andere valse gronden geïsoleerd van de wereld…). Jammer dat ene punt, geen reden om het verder uitstekende artikel van Johnstone te negeren:

congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is drawing fire from

same leftist contingent which has been energizing Ocasio-Cortez’s
campaign and elevating her to the public spotlight has been voicing
increasing concerns about her antiwar platform temporarily
vanishing from
her campaign website, about her walking
back from her position on
the Israeli government’s massacring of Palestinian protesters with
sniper fire, about her weirdly hawkish criticism of the GOP as being
“weak
on national security”,
and her deference to the establishment
Russia narrative.
And
now, as multipleoutlets have documented in
articles released in the last few hours, many of Ocasio-Cortez’s
supporters have been upset with a statement she made praising the
recently deceased warmongering psychopath John McCain and his
blood-soaked legacy.
“John
McCain’s legacy represents an unparalleled example of human decency
and American service,” tweeted the candidate upon McCain’s death,
which, for anyone who cares about the late Arizona
senator’s relentless
push to
inflict military
violence around
the world at every opportunity, is incredibly offensive. McCain was
easily the single most virulent warmonger on Capitol Hill, so
praising him and his legacy as exemplary of human decency necessarily
clashes with the “Peace Economy” platform that has
had so
many of Ocasio-Cortez’s supporters so
excited.
What
remains of the American left (and for my right-wing readers I here
mean the actual anti-war, socialist left, not the Hillary Clinton
“Make sure we refer to everyone on our drone kill list by their
preferred gender pronouns” corporatist Left™ that Americans are
permitted to support) has become very suspicious of anyone who rises
to a position of leadership among their ranks, especially anyone who
appears to lend legitimacy to the profoundly corrupt Democratic
Party. And understandably so; being a DemEnter progressive is a
nonstop lesson in disappointment, heartache and betrayal. Door after
door after door gets slammed on all attempts to advance your
political agendas, and if you find someone who seems like he might
maybe be able to sneak some health in between the cracks, he turns
around and helps sell
America the new cold war with
Russia.
This
has been a set pattern for a long time now. I often share
this video clip from
eight years ago when the progressives who had hoped that the Obama
administration would oppose warmongering and fight for economic
justice were coming to the conclusion that they had been duped yet
again by the “hope and change” song and dance. The term
“three-dimensional chess”, a term you’ll always see supporters
of a given political figure start using when their hero begins
capitulating to establishment interests, is used scornfully in the
clip. It happens on either side of the political aisle; I see Trump
supporters do it too when
I point out the many ways in which he is continuing and expanding the
Orwellian neoconservative policies of his predecessors.
Trump supporters claim his nonstop establishment capitulations are chess, too. And Obama’s supporters claimed his nonstop establishment capitulations were chess as well. Now you’re saying the exact same thing about @Ocasio2018. https://youtu.be/vVX8QihFhZA
What’s
up with that? Why do our heroes always fail us? Why does everyone we
elevate to fight the oppression machine always end up becoming a cog
in that very machine? Is there a lesson here we’re meant to be
learning?
I
think there is. Out of the constant rise and fall of hope and then
disappointment, over and over the lesson is that we aren’t going to
get a savior. We can keep looking for one and crowdsurfing them to
the frontlines, but each pedestalling will inevitably fail. We will
be constantly disappointed by the choices of humans on an individual
basis. The second coming ain’t coming to save us unless it’s
coming from within, and within all of us.
Every
few days I get a comment from a reader who is deeply disappointed in
my choices. “I can’t believe you’ve gone and said such a
thing,” they say. “To think, I used to trust you! You were my
hero!” And I always want to shout back, “Well, that was a bit
dumb, who told you to do that?? Who told you I was interested in
being anyone’s hero?”
And
I’m truly not. I’ve got exactly zero interest in being anyone’s
hero or leader or guru or anything like that; I’m just some
potty-mouthed bogan with a few ideas and a Medium account, and I like
it that way. I don’t have any special powers and if you find my
thoughts resonate with yours, great, but I always want you to put
your own gut before my ramblings. All I’m ever really doing here is
pointing out again and again in different ways how your own best
guess as to what’s going on in the world is always going to be
superior to the information being spoon fed to you by the paid
deceivers and manipulators of the mass media. If people could simply
shift to trusting themselves and their own inner sense-maker more
than the voices of perceived authority in their lives and on their
digital screens, our species could very quickly move into health and
harmony, because we’d no longer be streamlined into supporting the
unwholesome agendas of an elite class of plutocrats.
And
the longer I look at this thing the more clear it becomes that that
really is our only shot. It sounds a bit kooky to say that the only
way out of the oppressive Orwellian status quo that is driving us
toward war and ecocide is a mass shift in human consciousness, but I
insist that it’s far less crazy than the idea that we can solve our
problems using political solutions while maintaining the relationship
with thought and narrative that our species currently has.
Whenever
you try to debate a devout free market capitalist by pointing to the
current system’s failures, they’ll invariably tell you that the
current system isn’t true capitalism, that due to corporatism and
the influences of corrupt governmental power, true capitalism hasn’t
yet been tried. When you try to debate a socialist by pointing to the
failures of nations which carry that label you get the same argument;
those were corrupt, top heavy perversions of the socialist ideology,
and true socialism hasn’t been tried yet.
And
both are correct: neither political solution to our society’s
dilemmas has ever been tried in its pure form. And why is that?
Ultimately, it’s because humanity remains a fearful species which
latches onto abstract mental narratives in order to maintain a sense
of control over the fate of the conceptual self they believe
themselves to be,
and those narratives can then be manipulated
by more clever humans.
Happens again and again; systems designed to help humanity give way
to the manipulations of the powerful for the benefit of the powerful,
because we are too easy to manipulate.
So
in the cases of both true free market capitalism and true socialism,
the problem isn’t necessarily that those systems don’t work (who
knows, haven’t tried them yet), it’s that humanity hasn’t yet
moved into a sufficiently wholesome relationship with power and
narrative to be able to implement them. Complaining that your system
hasn’t been implemented correctly is therefore actually just
complaining that humanity has not yet experienced a global shift in
consciousness.
But
if we can make such a shift, will our old models even be useful in
the new paradigm? Isn’t it kind of like a two-dimensional character
trying to design city plans for a three-dimension civilization they
can’t even imagine? How much relevance would the manifesto of a
nineteenth century German philosopher or the ideas of long dead
Austrian economists have to a twenty-first century world in which
humans don’t move the way they used to and are not motivated by the
same things they once were?
This
is why I don’t make much of a fuss about one ideological model or
the other being the right and true one. A world in which everyone
gets what they need and we aren’t killing each other or our
ecosystem anymore is obviously something we all want, but I don’t
see any way to get there by picking heroes and sending them toward
the top of a power structure that has been deliberately designed to
funnel power upward and banish anyone who obstructs that movement.
I
no longer jump on bandwagons for the same reason I don’t go around
babbling about “sheep dogs” and aggressively trying to tear down
anti-establishment heroes who aren’t being anti-establishment
enough: if you put someone on a pedestal, eventually you’re going
to have to knock them off of it, because the solution isn’t in
them. It’s in each of us.
How
can we overthrow our oppressors if we haven’t overthrown our inner
oppressor as well? How can we shrug off the fear-soaked narratives of
the propaganda machine if we haven’t detached from the anxious
self-talk of our babbling inner narrator that seeks to dictate our
entire attention? We can turn off all the screens in our lives that
seek to take over our authority, but it’s the screen in our minds
which holds our attention that we have to turn off as well.
And
that will necessarily move us in a far more harmonious way. We will
look like a whole different species. From how I see it now, political
solutions are inherently top-down, competitive and divisive, and what
we are shooting for is a much more organically collaborative
crowd-sourced approach. As we get healthier, we’ll see solutions
come together in a distributed, improvisational way from collections
of people who aren’t interested in getting noticed, they just want
to get it done.
And
there are plenty of people like that already. The Bernie campaign
brought together huge swathes of them. We are going to see that
across all sectors, in science, technology and the arts as people put
aside our weird egoic desire for the separating effects of fame and
fortune for the joy of making something beautiful, helpful or healthy
together, simply for the thrill of accomplishing something bigger
than ourselves. The old dinosaur notions of pinning down ideas with
patents and so on will be seen clearly for what they are — an
attempt by individual egos to colonize inspiration that ultimately
inhibits human thriving. Just as we learn to stop trusting the
individual ego in others to save us, we will stop trusting it in
ourselves, and increasingly we will hand over our internal control to
the greater part of our consciousness that does not seek to control,
define, claim and deflect, but rather draws from a wisdom that often
eludes narration but creates harmoniously.
We
are the helpers. We’ve always been here, but until now we’ve been
co-opted by manipulators into manufacturing consent for their sick
agendas. Very rarely has a helper found a helper to help. Very rarely
have two people who only want to work in the highest interest and not
self-interest come together to make something, let alone a group of
them. As we begin to really see how manipulators move and they start
to pop up on our screens like a fly on white paper, the helpers will
become obvious as well. We can start to trust our gut again about who
and where to put our energy, and out of those new collaborations,
beautiful inspired solutions will be born into the world.

Put
to one side the anxiety-soaked stories your mind creates and deal
with what’s in the here and now, and keep gently bringing yourself
back to the reality of your feet on the floor and the air moving
through your lungs. Every reset back into peace with your
surroundings creates a space where inspiration can come in. This
simple internal act of rebellion from obedience to the
voice-that-is-me will have far-reaching consequences in the outer
world as we draw back subservience from the outer voices of
authority, and bring it back into ourselves.
I
know that’s not nearly as cool as storming the barracks with flags
and rebel songs and the image of our hero inked into our skin, but
we’ve tried that before, and we just got more of the same. Every
hero we elevate turns to smoke, and every door we’ve tried is
closed except this one. So let’s open it and see what happens.

Vorige
week kreeg ik een leuk bericht van het Care2 Team. Op 3 augustus jl.
ontsnapten er 118 geiten van een terrein in Boise, Idaho (VS) waar ze het onkruid moesten
wegeten (waarom ‘vreten’ als het om dieren gaat?). De dieren wisten
te ontsnappen door een aantal gebroken latten van een houten
afzetting.
4 dagen
later ontsnapten er 75 geiten uit een veiling waar levende dieren
werden verhandeld voor de slacht (ofwel om vermoord te worden door de
mens die denkt te mogen beschikken over het leven van dieren, veelal
op basis van religie, terwijl de god van die gelovigen zou moeten
weten dat haar/zijn schepping in feite niet goed kan omgaan met
vlees, vanwege het darmstelsel en de diverse stoffen in vlees, die een
groot aantal organen [ernstig] kunnen beschadigen)
Men
denkt in beide gevallen dat Fred de geit (eigenlijk een bok, maar
goed) verantwoordelijk is voor het bevrijden van zijn soort- en
lotgenoten, een lot dat hij zelfstandig wist te ontsnappen. Een jaar eerder
namelijk, stond Fred zelf op die veiling en ‘nam hij de poten’, zo wist hij aan een gewisse dood te ontkomen……
Kortom
Fred is een eenspersoons ‘dierenbevrijdingsteam’, die het lot in
eigen poten nam. Vanaf nu noemt men Fred the GOAT, ofwel Greatest Of
All Time!
Trouwens
over dat ontsnappen van dieren voor de slacht: dieren hebben een
zesde zintuig voor het moment waarop hun dood aanstaande is, al
helemaal als ze op het terrein van een slachthuis aankomen en zoals
bekend, er wil nog wel eens een koe ontsnappen. Als kind woonde ik
in een plaats waar men nog een slachthuis had, het was vreselijk om
de dieren te horen schreeuwen die in pure doodsangst op hun dood wachtten…….
Stop
met vleeseten, doe de dieren, de aarde en jezelf een plezier! Zo is vleeseten zwaar ongezond, iets dat men
uiteraard niet graag bekend maakt, immers Nederland verdient er
kapitalen aan, met de 500 miljoen dieren die hier jaarlijks worden
groot en dood gemarteld. Voorts wordt de laatste echte natuur op onze aarde verbrand of vernield om daar vooral voedsel, voor o.a. de enorme Nederlandse veestapel te telen, waarmee ook nog eens de klimaatverandering verder wordt aangejaagd, dan is er nog de enorme hoeveelheid methaangas die jaarlijks wordt uitgestoten door deze dieren, methaangas: één van de sterkste broeikasgassen…….
Tot slot vinden er ook een enorm aantal transportbewegingen plaats met: diervoer of de onderdelen daarvan en transport met dieren en kadavers, of delen van kadavers, dan wel de ‘eindproducten’ die men in de winkel verkoopt, transporten die het milieu en de luchtkwaliteit verder verrampeneren. Ook is er de enorme berg slachtafval waar men ‘mee in de maag zit’, deze probeert men in zo veel mogelijk producten te verwerken, zoals in snoep voor kinderen…… Slachtafval dat voor een fiks deel wordt verbrand, ‘ook al goed voor het milieu….’
Hero
Goat Helps Other Animals Escape a Livestock Auction
August
is not Runaway Goats Month, but that sure seems to be the case.
On
August 3 in Boise, Idaho, 118
goats escaped from
the property whose vegetation they were supposed to be munching. They
all managed to wiggle their ways through broken slats in a wooden
fence and then wandered into a nearby neighborhood.
Just
four days later in New Jersey, 75 goats and sheep broke free from the
Hackettstown Livestock Auction House. At its weekly auctions, about
300 goats, sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry are sold for slaughter.
To
free the goats and sheep, somebody hd pushed open an unsecured gate
– and that hero may very well have been a goat named Fred, who
escaped from the same auction house a year ago. Since then, locals
have occasionally spotted Fred around the town. He sometimes even
shows up at the train station to greet commuters.
Fred
has also been seen in the company of several deer. “Some people are
convinced he might even think he’s a deer himself,” Hackettstown
Police spokesman Darren Tynan told the New
Jersey Herald.
It
was likely no coincidence that there happened to be a Fred sighting
near the auction house just a couple hours before the animals
escaped.
“It
was him,” Bouwe Postma, manager of the auction house, told the New
York Post.
“I think he’s the culprit. He must have banged that fence and let
them out last night. I’m almost positive. He must have put a lot of
force into that.”
The
following afternoon, Fred showed up at the auction house yet again
and butted his head against the gate in a futile attempt to enable
that day’s livestock to escape. Postma said he shooed the
persistent goat away.
The
story of the hooved escape artists in Idaho had a happy ending –
they were all rounded up by their owner, We Rent Goats, and returned
to the property they were supposed to be clearing.
We
Rent Goats is a participant in the Animal Welfare Institute’s Animal
Welfare Approved (AWA) program.
The owners say they treat the goats “like queens” and work hard
to keep them happy.
In
Hackettstown, however, most of the rogue goats and sheep were rounded
up and returned to a holding pen in the auction house. Unlike their
Idaho brethren, they won’t spend their lives eating vegetation.
Instead, they’ll soon be killed and eaten themselves.
Hackettstown
Mayor Maria DiGiovanni told the Post she is usually among the people
who cheer when livestock escape their doomed fate. “I kind of like
when they break free, but I see both sides. It is a business,” she
said.
The
good news is that 10 to 20 of the auction house escapees remain at
large and are probably hiding out in nearby woods. “None of them
are causing a problem at this point, so we’re not actively looking
for them, but if a call comes in we’ll take it from there,” Tynan
told the New Jersey Herald.
Here’s
hoping those escapees manage to find their ways to sanctuaries or
homeowners who can keep them as pets. The Woodstock
Farm Sanctuary in
New York has generously offered to provide these animals with a
forever home and is asking anyone who spots one to contact them.
We are currently trying to help the remaining goats and sheep that escaped from the auction, including Fred, the goat who escaped from this auction last year and still hangs out around the town. We have reached out to local authorities and have offered to give the animals permanent sanctuary. Stay tuned.
HACKETTSTOWN — More than 75 goats and sheep destined for slaughter escaped from a livestock auction market in downtown Hackettstown late Wednesday, and between 10 and 20 may still be on the lam.
What
about Fred? “We still get about one call per week about him, but
Fred is now a staple in the community and we’re not going to do
anything to remove him from his friends,” Tynan told the New Jersey
Herald.
From
now on, Fred the goat should be referred to as Fred the GOAT
(Greatest of All Time).
WDR berichtte gisteren over een onderzoek waaruit blijkt dat de 75 cruiseschepen die havens in de EU aandoen, voor het overgrote deel varen op uiterst smerige stookolie…… Anders dan bagatelliserende praatjes doen geloven, praatjes die de bewoners van die havensteden worden voorgehouden, dat wanneer deze schepen afgemeerd liggen, de motoren niet op die smerige olie draaien (de motoren van deze schepen mogen nooit uitgezet worden en kunnen overgeschakeld worden van vuile stookolie, naar bijzonder vuile stookolie)…..
Een cruiseschip in een haven geeft een bijna vergelijkbare luchtvervuiling als een fabriek…..
Ofwel de luchtkwaliteit in deze havensteden, die veelal met veel meer luchtvervuiling te maken hebben dan andere steden, is vervuild met nog giftiger stoffen dan eerder gedacht……. (havensteden hebben o.a. te maken met veel meer vrachtauto vervoer dan andere steden, vrachtauto’s die voor aan- en afvoer van bijvoorbeeld zeecontainers zorgen…….)
Tot slot: natuurlijk varen ook de andere cruiseschepen op deze smerige stookolie, wat ook voor alle andere zeeschepen geldt, zie mijn opmerking hierboven over containervervoer.
Ongelofelijk!
PS: uiteraard dragen deze cruiseschepen ook nog eens bij aan de klimaatverandering door hun uitstoot na verbranding van deze smerige stookolie, daarbovenop zorgt die uitstoot ervoor dat ijs en sneeuw op de poolkappen (steeds meer cruises gaan richting Noord- en Zuidpool) zwart worden en het zonlicht niet meer weerkaatsen….. Daarmee smelt dit ijs en sneeuw nog eens sneller, dan alleen al door de opwarming plaatsvindt en wordt, zoals je begrijpt, de klimaatverandering verder aangejaagd……..
‘Unearthed’,
onderdeel van Greenpeace bracht op 10 augustus jl. een artikel over
de vele bosbranden die vrijwel wereldwijd hebben huisgehouden, of
nog steeds niet zijn geblust.
Ongelofelijk
als je de satellietfoto’s ziet die maar tot één conclusie leiden: de
klimaatverandering zal met dit soort warme jaren (waar we er naar
zeggen nog een paar voor de boeg hebben de komende 4 jaar) nog sneller gaan dan eerder berekend.
Uiterst verontrustend zijn de branden in het hoge noorden, van
Alaska, Canada, tot Scandinavië en Siberië, dit daar enorme gebieden
met permafrost snel ontdooien, waarbij grote hoeveelheden methaangas
vrijkomen…..

Methaangas, ook in gigantische hoeveelheden geproduceerd door onze intensieve
martelveehouderij, waar jaarlijks 500 miljoen dieren worden groot en
doodgemarteld, is een uiterst sterk broeikasgas….. Voorts is er nog de CO2 uitstoot, weliswaar niet zo sterk als methaangas, maar wel uur na uur in ongelofelijk grote hoeveelheden toegevoegd aan onze atmosfeer
Niet alleen
voeren de genoemde bosbranden extra warmte toe aan de atmosfeer, maar
door het vrijkomen van methaangas zal de aarde nog verder opwarmen en
zal er nog meer broeikasgas vrijkomen, dit herhaalt zich zoals je
begrijpt en dat is wat het cumulatief effect wordt genoemd……..
Door
de opwarming van de aarde smelten ook de poolkappen en gletsjers wereldwijd, waar dit ijs is
verdwenen zal de warmte die eerder werd teruggekaatst, nu de aarde
en het zeewater opwarmen, waardoor er nog meer ijs zal afsmelten, ook
dit herhaalt zich en ook hier is dus sprake van een cumulatief
effect……
Het voorgaande geeft aan dat we het punt waarop we nog werkelijk iets zouden kunnen doen, al gepasseerd zijn (‘point of no return’)…..Het
is dan ook zeker dat met voornoemde zaken de temperatuur aan het eind
van deze eeuw met meer dan 3 graden zal zijn toegenomen, zelfs al
zouden we vandaag alle ‘mooie voornemens’ (veel te slap!) doorvoeren
en bijvoorbeeld zelfs zullen besluiten de Nederlandse kolencentrales
niet in 2030, maar onmiddellijk te sluiten……
Echter Greenpeace durft te stellen dat het zo’n vaart niet zal lopen, ondanks het volgende weinig geruststellende schrijven van NB deze organisatie zelf (ongelofelijk!):

Mendocino Complex fire was classified at the start of this week as
California’s largest wildfire, and officials have said it will not

of course had to pitch
in (inaccurately);
about water usage for the wildfires.
Fires
have been sweeping across the world in the past few months, with
temperatures reaching over 40C in Spain and Portugal last weekend,
while scientists have warned that the fires in northern England may
leave behind a
“toxic legacy” of
smoke.
That’s
what a new study is exploring, portraying a widely-publicised future
called ‘hothouse Earth.’
What’s
‘hothouse Earth’? Well, the study warned that a series of
cascading events could move Earth into a state beyond which there was
no return. Essentially, the study warned that even limiting global
warming to 2C might not be enough for stable future temperatures.
Three
years on from dieselgate and the hot air from car companies
continues. Or perhaps polluted air would be more accurate.
The
US has long had stricter fixes for VW’s polluting cars than Europe
did, and companies are therefore exploiting legal loopholes that
exist to change test results – and have been doing so for some time.
A study has also suggested that diesel
isn’t great in heatwaves.
I
may have lost track of how many regulatory rollbacks the Trump
administration has proposed, but this one is a real buzzkill. A ban
on the use of pesticides which are linked to declining bee
populations has been overturned.
It
was announced by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, whose deputy
director said the blanket ban on neonicotinoid pesticides and GM
crops in refuges would end. They will instead make decisions
about their use on a case-by-case basis.

PS: ik wil niet beweren dat we verder maar niets meer moeten doen, nee we moeten juist wel veel meer vaart zetten achter maatregelen die de opwarming nog enigszins afremmen. Zeker daar het ook in het belang is van het grote aantal mensen dat jaarlijks wereldwijd vroegtijdig sterft (na een akelig ziekbed, in Nederland rond de 18.000 mensen op jaarbasis) als gevolg van de luchtvervuiling van auto-uitstoot, uiteraard aangevuld door uitstoot van vliegtuigen, schepen, (kolen gestookte) energiecentrales en de industrie…….
