Hoe is

geval, waarbij men liever een executie in Iran, China of Syrië

Amnesty International is calling it
an “execution spree.” In the past few months, the
organization has witnessed a terrifying uptick in government
executions carried out by Egyptian authorities, with no signs of
abating. In two months — October and November 2020 — state
officials hanged 57 individuals, more than double the number of
people who were officially executed in the entire preceding year. Of
these, 49 were killed in mass executions held over a period of just
10 days.
Many
of the prisoners who were rounded up and put to death during this
reign of terror were citizens who dared to voice their own opinions.

Despite the fact that the President
of Egypt, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, claims there are “no political
prisoners” in the country, that is simply a lie. Scores of
activists and lawyers have been detained in recent years, including
three employees at a civil rights NGO who were jailed in November.
Once in custody, they are typically tortured into issuing false,
pre-written confessions. We need powerful voices to speak out if we
are to have any hope of changing this tide.
Money
talks, and that’s why we’re calling on BP to use its position of
influence to speak out now.

As the largest and most powerful foreign corporation operating in
Egypt, it must utilize its leverage to end this horror show.

Protesten in Egypte tegen corrupte al-Sisi

In
democratisch gekozen president Mohamed Morsi…..

pest, ging men de straat op o.a. in Caïro.

Protests
Break Out in Cairo as Egyptians Demand President Sisi’s Removal

(MEE— Egyptian
activists held protests against the government of President Abdel
Fattah el-Sisi in one of the first demonstrations since the former
army general tightened his grip on the country.

Videos
posted on social media on Friday showed demonstrators gathering in
Cairo’s Tahrir Square, the site of the 2011 uprising that toppled
longtime autocrat Hosni Mubarak.

Protesters also
gathered in Alexandria, Suez and Gharbiya to call for an end to
Sisi’s rule.

The
people want to topple the regime,” shouted demonstrators in Tahrir
Square, according to a
video posted
on Twitter, echoing the chants of the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings
across the Middle East and North Africa.

#TahrirSquare

A
Middle East Eye correspondent in Cairo said as many as 200 protesters
heading towards Tahrir Square were “violently dispersed” late
Friday.

No
deaths, but I saw about 20-25 people arrested and held in police
trucks. Some were released later. Currently downtown is full of riot
police and plain-clothes policemen,” said the correspondent, who
remained anonymous because of the restrictions on journalists in
the country.

Protesters
had taken to side streets, gathering in small groups chanting “leave”
and “down down with Sisi Mubarak”.

Tear
gas was used to disperse demonstrators near Tahrir, and dozens have
been arrested.

Most
downtown shops that normally stay open late Friday were closed.

The
protests began in the virtual space, as
anti-Sisi
hashtags
 had
been trending for weeks on social media amid increasing frustration
with economic conditions and lack of freedoms in the North African
country.

By
the early hours of Saturday morning in Egypt, the
hashtag #
(#Tahrir
Square) was among most popular trends worldwide on Twitter.

Friday’s
protests came after Egyptian actor and real estate developer Mohamed
Ali had posted videos ostensibly depicting acts of corruption by Sisi
and the Egyptian ruling class.

The
43-year-old Egyptian whistleblower has released more than a dozen
videos from self-exile in Spain, alleging that officials
misappropriated millions in public funds for their personal projects.

Over
the past 15 years, as the owner of a property company that contracted
with the Egyptian military on major construction projects, Ali said
he has had a front-row seat for all of it – and he’s speaking out
now because he hasn’t been paid.

It
was Ali who called for the protest on Friday after a football super
cup match between Al Ahly and Zamalek.

In
a video posted in the early hours of Saturday, Ali called on Egypt’s
Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki to remove Sisi.

You
see how the Egyptian people are doing. I hope no escalation happens.
Please, your honour, issue an order to arrest Mr. Abdel Fattah
el-Sisi… I hope that you side with the Egyptian people,” Ali
said, addressing Zaki.

We
must all stand together and forget any [disagreements] between us. He
must be punished.”

Ali
told Zaki that the army is tasked with the protection of the Egyptian
people, not an individual, no matter how important he is –
referring to Sisi.

Ali
saluted the protesters, saying Friday’s demonstrations helped
relieve his pain of the past eight years.

I’m
happy. May God help you succeed. Patriots and brave – this is the
Egyptian people,” he said.

Reports
of mismanagement of public funds and extravagant presidential palaces
struck a chord with many Egyptians, who have been suffering
economically under Sisi’s austerity measures.

Now
you can see families and friends who rarely discussed politics or who
had very different opinions agreeing on [Ali’s] statements,”
Noura, a retired journalist who wished to be identified only by her
first name because of political conditions in Egypt, told
Middle
East Eye
 earlier
this week.

Noura
said she will participate in the protests that Ali has encouraged:
“We should not be afraid of the regime, and people should come
together to express their discontent.”

Pretty
Big’

Khaled
Elgindy, a fellow in the Center for Middle East Policy at the
Brookings Institution in Washington DC, said he was hesitant to
assess the situation in Egypt based on the social media posts of the
protests.

Still,
he said the eruption of demonstrations – even if they are small –
in several cities under such an autocratic government that has a
“zero tolerance” policy against dissent shows the growing
frustration of Egyptians.

We
know social media people have a tendency to get ahead of themselves,
but the fact that even a small number would show up to protest in
multiple locations in Egypt, I think, is pretty big given how
repressive this regime has been,” Elgindy told MEE.

On
Friday, Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights
Watch, also said the fact that the protesters are risking their lives
to demonstrate against their government is a sign of the dire
situation in Egypt.

Sarah Leah Whitson
@sarahleah1

The huge personal harm these protesters are risking, given the near total ban on protests and viciousness of government, is an indication of just how desperate conditions in the country are.

Eldad is

IDF
General: Israel Behind Coup That Installed Al-Sisi Dictatorship in
Egypt

April

Written
by
Whitney

Al-Sisi’s
government, widely considered a military dictatorship despite a pale
sheen of democracy, has forged increasingly close ties with Israel
ever since he came to power in the 2013 coup.

(MPN) — Brigadier
General Aryeh Eldad of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has claimed
that Israel was behind the 2013 military coup that ousted Mohammed
Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president. Eldad made
the claim in an article
published in
the Israeli newspaper
Maariv.

In
the article, Eldad asserted:

The
outbreak of the January revolution coincided with the Israeli
security assessment that President-elect Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim
Brotherhood man, intended to cancel the peace agreement with Israel
and send more Egyptian military forces to the Sinai Peninsula.”

al-Sisi | Netanyahu

(foto van MintPress News)

Just
a few months into Morsi’s presidency, in August 2012, Israel
had
publicly accused
 Morsi
of violating the peace treaty with Israel after Egypt responded to
terrorist attacks in the Sinai by sending an increased number of
troops. Morsi’s government
accused Israel’s
Mossad of having been behind the attacks in order to destabilize his
government amid efforts to improve Egypt’s relations with Gaza.
Hamas, which has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007, as well as
Lebanon’s Hezbollah, also blamed Mossad for the attacks, a charge
Israel denied.

Eldad
then claimed that at this stage:

Israel
was quick and willing to activate its diplomatic tools, and perhaps
even greater means, to bring Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to power in Egypt,
and convince the then-U.S. administration under President Barack
Obama not to oppose this move.”

Events
at the time support Eldad’s claim as, shortly after the coup,
Israel quickly launched diplomatic missions in the U.S. and several
European countries to push for support of Egypt’s new political
reality and to prevent a diplomatic blockade on Cairo following the
military coup.

Many
analysts
have
noted
 that
under Al-Sisi, Egypt-Israel relations have grown to unprecedented
levels through policies often driven by Al-Sisi himself.

Why Israel
Wanted Morsi Out

While
Eldad cited concerns over a rupture of the Israel-Egypt peace
agreement as having motivated Israel’s role in the 2013 coup, a
more likely reason was related to Morsi’s relationship with Hamas
and efforts to normalize relations with Gaza.

Notably,
after Al-Sisi came to power, the Rafah crossing between Gaza and
Egypt and tunnels between Gaza and Egypt were
abruptly
closed
.
In addition, soon after the coup, “army-instigated anti-Palestinian
propaganda” was “rampant” throughout Cairo and Palestinians
that had flown into the Cairo airport were quickly deported back to
the countries they had recently arrived from, according to
The
Guardian
. In
contrast, while Morsi did not end the blockade of Gaza — in force
since 2007 — he
had
improved
 conditions
for Palestinians living in the embattled enclave compared to those
under his predecessor, Hosni Mubarak.

Egypt | Israel

designates he has been sentenced to death, raises his hands inside a

academy, in an eastern suburb of Cairo, Egypt, June 18, 2016. Amr
Nabil | AP

Eldad,
in his article, hinted that the coup was related to a “religious
war” that Israel was and still is fighting against Palestine and
Arab majority nations, stating:

Contrary
to all Israeli expectations, the Camp David agreement, which was made
40 years ago, has lasted for many decades despite the lack of real
peace between us and the Egyptians, and despite the failure to
resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, because this conflict is
not just geopolitical. We are rather having a religious war with the
Palestinians and Arabs.”

Though
Eldad’s recent statements make the connection between Morsi’s
relationship with Hamas and Israeli involvement in the 2013 coup more
clear, it had long been suspected. An Egyptian army
general
told BBC soon
after the coup that Morsi’s alleged “collaboration” and good
relations with Hamas were a driving factor behind the coup.

In
a telling incident, Morsi was
later
charged
 with
terrorism for allegedly conspiring with Hamas, Hezbollah, and
elements of the Iranian military to “destabilize” Egypt.
Morsi
has
been imprisoned
 for
years, many of them spent in solitary confinement, and a U.K. panel
of legal experts asserted last year that harsh prison conditions will
likely lead to his “premature death.”
Prior
to being charged for “collaborating” with Hamas, Morsi
had
publicly praised
 Palestinian
“resistance” in Gaza. Another likely factor for Israel’s
decision to place Al-Sisi in power was Morsi’s efforts to
normalize
relations
 with
Iran.

The
accusations against Morsi regarding alleged collaboration with
Hezbollah and Iran, both adversaries of Israel, seemed unusual to
some, given that Morsi had, during his time in office and during the
alleged “conspiracy,”
cut
ties
 with
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and supported Assad’s overthrow by
opposition forces. Hezbollah and Iran, in contrast, supported Assad
and fought alongside the Syrian Army. Notably, Israel served as
one
of the “masterminds”
behind
the Syrian conflict, which Morsi supported. Hamas, like Morsi’s
government,
had
also backed
 efforts
to oust Assad at the time, albeit less publicly.

Notably,
Al-Sisi’s government, widely considered a military dictatorship
despite a
pale
sheen
 of
democracy, has forged increasingly close ties with Israel ever since
he came to power in the 2013 coup. This is unsurprising given Eldad’s
recent claim that Israel had orchestrated the coup in order to put
Al-Sisi in power. During his time in control of the country, Israel
and Egypt began
“secretly”
coordinating
 military
actions in Egypt, a covert alliance that Al-Sisi had denied until
this January, when he
admitted far-reaching
coordination between the IDF and the Egyptian military.

Al-Sisi’s
efforts to bring Egypt closer to Israel lack popular support, as most
trade unions and political parties oppose normalizing relations with
Israel. However, Al-Sisi — known for his
brutal
repression
 of
protests, journalism and any form of dissent — has continued to
push forward in his efforts to
forge
closer ties
 with
Israel, in apparent service to the country largely responsible for
his rise to power.

As`ad
AbuKhalil
 schrijver
over ‘journalist’ Khashoggi.

Zonder
koningshuis (bloederige dictators) schoon gewassen…….

Khashoggi

in S-A ‘doodstrafwaardig’ zijn……

Jamal
Khashoggi Was No Critic of the Saudi Regime

October
16, 2018 at 10:51 am

Written
by
Consortium
News

Jamal
Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist, who disappeared in the Saudi
consulate in Istanbul last week is not quite the critic of the Saudi
regime that the Western media says he is.

(CN Op-ed) — The
disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist, in the Saudi
consulate in Istanbul last week has generated huge international
publicity, but unsurprisingly, little in Saudi-controlled, Arab
media.
The
Washington Post,
 for
whom Khashoggi wrote, and other Western media, have kept the story
alive, increasing the pressure on Riyadh to explain its role in the
affair.

It’s
been odd to read about Khashoggi in Western media. David Hirst in
The
Guardian
claimed
Khashoggi merely cared about absolutes such as “truth, democracy,
and
freedom”.
Human Rights Watch’s director described him as representing
“outspoken and critical
journalism.”

But
did he pursue those absolutes while working for Saudi princes?

Khashoggi
was a loyal member of the Saudi propaganda apparatus. There is no
journalism allowed in the kingdom: there have been courageous Saudi
women and men who attempted to crack the wall of rigid political
conformity and were persecuted and punished for their views.
Khashoggi was not among them.

Some
writers suffered while Khashoggi was their boss
at Al-Watan newspaper. Khashoggi—contrary to what
is being written—was never punished by the regime, except lightly
two years ago, when Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS)
banned him from tweeting and writing for Al-Hayat, the
London-based, pan-Arab newspaper owned by Saudi Prince Khalid
bin Sultan.

By
historical contrast, Nasir As-Sa`id was a courageous secular Arab
Nationalist writer who fled the kingdom in 1956 and settled in Cairo,
and then Beirut. He authored a massive (though tabloid-like) volume
about the history of the House of Saud. He was unrelenting in his
attacks against the Saudi royal family.

For
this, the Saudi regime paid a corrupt PLO leader in Beirut (Abu
Az-Za`im, tied to Jordanian intelligence) to get rid of As-Sa`id. He
kidnapped As-Sa`id from a crowded Beirut street in 1979 and delivered
him to the Saudi embassy there. He was presumably tortured and killed
(some say his body was tossed from a plane over the “empty quarter”
desert in Saudi Arabia). Such is the track record of the regime.

Finding
the Right Prince

Khashoggi
was an ambitious young reporter who knew that to rise in Saudi
journalism you don’t need professionalism, courage, or ethics. In
Saudi Arabia, you need to attach yourself to the right prince. Early
on, Khashoggi became close to two of them: Prince Turki Al-Faysal
(who headed Saudi intelligence) and his brother, Prince Khalid
Al-Faysal, who owned Al-Watan (The Motherland) where
Khashoggi had his first (Arabic) editing job.

Khashoggi
distinguished himself with an eagerness to please and an uncanny
ability to adjust his views to those of the prevailing government. In
the era of anti-Communism and the promotion of fanatical jihad
in Afghanistan and elsewhere, Khashoggi was a true believer. He
fought with Osama bin Laden and promoted the cause of the Mujahideen.

David Ignatius and others want to
embellish this
by implying that he was an “embedded” reporter—as if bin
Laden’s army would invite independent journalists to report on
their war efforts. The entire project of covering the Afghan
Mujahideen and promoting them in the Saudi press was the work of the
chief of Saudi intelligence, Prince Turki, Khashoggi’s principal
patron-prince.

Western
media coverage of Khashoggi’s career (by people who don’t know
Arabic) presents a picture far from reality. They portray a
courageous investigative journalist upsetting the Saudi regime.
Nothing is further from the truth: there is no journalism in Saudi
Arabia; there is only crude and naked propaganda.

Editors
are trusted individuals who have demonstrated long-time loyalty.
Khashoggi admitted to an Arab reporter last year in an
interview
from Istanbul that in Saudi Arabia he had been both
editor
and censor.
Editors of Saudi regime papers (mouthpieces of princes and kings)
enforce government rules and eliminate objectionable material.

Khashoggi
never spoke out for Saudis in distress. He ran into trouble in two
stints as Al-Watan editor because of articles he
published by other writers, not by himself, that were mildly critical
of the conservative religious establishment—which he at times
supported. He was relocated to another government media job— to
shield him from the religious authorities.

Khashoggi
was the go-to man for Western journalists covering the kingdom,
appointed to do so by the regime. He may have been pleasant in
conversation with reporters but he never questioned the royal
legitimacy. And that goes for his brief one-year stint in Washington
writing for the Post.

A
Reactionary

Khashoggi
was a reactionary: he supported all monarchies and sultanates in the
region and contended they were “reformable.” To him, only the
secular republics, in tense relations with the Saudis, such as Iraq,
Syria and Libya, defied reform and needed to be overthrown. He
favored Islamization of Arab politics along Muslim Brotherhood lines.

Khashoggi’s
vision was an “Arab uprising” led by the Saudi
regime.
In his Arabic writings he backed MbS’s “reforms” and even his
“war on corruption,” derided in the region and beyond. He thought
that MbS’s arrests of the princes in the Ritz were legitimate
(though he mildly
criticized
them in a
Post column)
even as his last sponsoring prince, Al-Walid bin Talal, was locked up
in the luxury hotel. Khashoggi even wanted to be an advisor to MbS,
who did not trust him and turned him
down.

Writing
in the Post (with an Arabic version) Khashoggi came
across as a liberal Democrat favoring democracy and reform. But he
didn’t challenge Saudi regime legitimacy or Western Mideast policy.
Mainstream journalists were enamored with him. They saw him as an
agreeable Arab who didn’t criticize their coverage of the region,
but praised it, considering the mainstream U.S. press the epitome of
professional journalism. Khashoggi was essentially a token Arab
writing for a paper with a regrettable record of misrepresenting
Arabs.

In
Arabic, his Islamist sympathies with Turkey and the Muslim
Brotherhood (Ikhwan) were unmistakable. Forgotten or little
known in the West is that during the Cold War the Saudis sponsored,
funded, and nurtured the Muslim Brotherhood as a weapon against the
progressive, secular camp led by Egypt’s Gamal Abdel
Nasser. Ikhwan controlled the Saudi educational
system raising Saudi students to admire the Brotherhood. But Sep. 11
changed the Saudi calculus: the rulers wanted a scapegoat for their
role in sponsoring Islamist fanaticism and the Ikhwan was
the perfect target. That made Khashoggi suspect too.

Hints
Against Him

Recent articles in
the Saudi press hinted that the regime might move against him. He had
lost his patrons but the notion that Khashoggi was about to launch an
Arab opposition party was not credible. The real crime was that
Khashoggi was backed alone by
Ikhwan
supporters,
namely the Qatari regime and the Turkish government.

A
writer in
Okaz,
a daily in Jeddah,
accused him
of meeting with the Emir of Qatar at the Four Seasons Hotel in New
York and of having ties to “regional and international intelligence
services.” If true it may have sealed his fate. Qatar is now the
number one enemy of the Saudi regime—arguably worse than Iran.

Khashoggi
was treated as a defector and one isn’t allowed to defect from the
Saudi Establishment. The last senior defections were back in 1962,
when Prince Talal and Prince Badr joined Nasser’s Arab nationalist
movement in Egypt.

Khashoggi
had to be punished in a way that would send shivers down the spine of
other would-be defectors.

US Undermined Democratic Elements of Syrian Opposition to Empower

(MPN) — A
recently uncovered
 U.S.
government document
 published
by WikiLeaks has revealed that the U.S. directly advocated for
undermining “democratic” elements of the so-called Syrian
“revolution” of 2011 in order to ensure the dominance of
authoritarian, sectarian Sunni groups within the Syrian opposition.

The
document, written by the United States Marine Corps (USMC)
Intelligence Department in late 2011, further asserts that empowering
these radical Sunni groups over democratic and secular ones would be
ideal for the United States and its regional partners, as ensuring
the decline of the current Syrian government, and with it a secular
Syria, would harm Iran’s regional clout.

In
other words, the U.S. openly supported undermining democratic
opposition forces in Syria in order to challenge Iranian influence
and, with it, the influence of the Middle East’s “resistance
axis” that obstructs the imperialistic agendas of the U.S. and its
regional allies such as Saudi Arabia and Israel.

According
to the document, which was buried in a previous WikiLeaks release
and
 recently
uncovered
 by
journalist Dr. Nafeez Ahmed, U.S. military intelligence was well
aware that the Syrian opposition movement in 2011 did not pose “a
meaningful threat against the [Syrian] regime,” given that it was
“extremely fractured” and “operating under enormous
constraints.” It also noted that “reports of protests [against
the Syrian government] are overblown,” even though “the exiled
[Syrian] opposition has been quite effecting (sic) in developing a
narrative on the Syrian opposition to disseminate to major media
agencies.”

That
narrative — which was subsequently promoted by several foreign
governments, including the U.S., the U.K., Turkey and France —
falsely claimed that the protests were massive and involved largely
peaceful protestors “
rising
up

against the “autocratic” government led by Syrian President
Bashar al-Assad.
This
document
,
as well as
 substantial
evidence
 that has
emerged
 over
the last several years
,
shows that this narrative, of a “peaceful uprising” seeking to
establish a secular and “democratic” Syria, has never been true,
as even U.S. military intelligence knew that the reports regarding
these “peaceful” protests were highly exaggerated.

U.S.
Calling on Turkey to Do Its Dirty Work

Given
that the USMC intelligence considered the Syrian opposition movement
in 2011 to be an ineffective force for effecting change in Assad’s
status as Syria’s leader, the document notes that it was in the
U.S.’ interest for Turkey to “manage” efforts to destabilize
the Assad-led government, as Turkey “is the country with the most
leverage over Syria in the long term, and has an interest in seeing
this territory return to Sunni rule.”

Those
Turkish-led efforts would involve gradually building up “linkages
with groups inside Syria, focusing in particular on the Islamist
remnants of the Muslim Brotherhood in trying to fashion a viable
Islamist political force in Syria that would operate under Ankara’s
umbrella.” This ultimately came to pass, as the
 Turkey-backed Free
Syrian Army (FSA) –
 previously
promoted
 as
the main force of the “democratic” Syrian opposition but now well
known to be aradical,
 sectarian
group
 –
still
 takes
its marching orders
 from
Ankara.

The
document advocates for these efforts to mold the “fragmented”
elements of the 2011 Syrian opposition into an “Islamist” puppet
force of Turkey in order to support the gradual “weakening of the
Alawite [i.e., Assad] hold on power in Syria,” as well as because
“Turkey, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and others have a
common interest in trying to severely under[mine] Iran’s foothold
in the Levant and dial back Hezbollah’s political and military
influence in Lebanon.”

Also
notable is the fact that USMC intelligence at the time knew that
these efforts to undermine the current Syrian government would have a
disastrous impact on the country and its civilian population. Indeed,
the document notes this on two separate occasions, stating first that
“any political transition in Syria away from the al-Assad clan will
likely entail a violent, protracted civil conflict” and later
adding that “the road to regime change will be a long and bloody
one.”

Thus,
not only was U.S. military intelligence advocating for the
undermining of democratic and secular forces within the Syrian
opposition, it was also aware that the U.S.-backed efforts to
undermine Assad would have “bloody” consequences for civilians in
Syria. These admissions dramatically undercut
past
and present U.S. claims
 to
be concerned with Syrian civilians and their “
call
for freedom

from Assad, showing instead that the U.S. preferred the installation
of a “friendly” authoritarian, sectarian government in Syria and
was uninterested in the fate of Syrian civilians so long as the
result “severely under[mined] Iran’s foothold in the Levant.”

For
much of the last two decades, but especially since the 2006 war
between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, the “resistance axis” —
led by Iran — has emerged as
the
greatest threat
 to
the hegemony of the United States and its allies in the Middle East.
A power bloc composed of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas in
Palestine, the “resistance axis” as a term first emerged in 2010
to describe the alliances of countries and regional political
groups
opposed
to continued Western intervention
 in
the region, as well as to
the
imperialist agendas
 of
U.S. allies in the region like Israel and Saudi Arabia. Iran’s role
as the
de
facto
 leader
of this resistance bloc makes it, along with its main allies like
Syria, a prime target of U.S. Middle East policy.

Sunni-Stan

Washington’s
support for a future authoritarian Syria may come as a surprise to
some, given that the U.S. has publicly promoted the narrative of a
“democratic revolution” in Syria from 2011 to the present and has
used calls for the establishment of a “new” secular democracy in
Syria as the foundation for its agenda of overthrowing the current
Assad-led government.

However,
powerful individuals in Washington have long promoted an
“authoritarian” and “Islamist” state in Syria with the goal
of countering Iran, much like the plan detailed in the USMC
intelligence document.

For
instance, current National Security Adviser John Bolton
 called
for the establishment of such a state
 in
Syria back in 2015, stating on
FOX
News
:

I
think our objective should be a new Sunni state out of the western
part of Iraq, the eastern part of Syria, run by moderates or at least
authoritarians who are not radical Islamists.”

Hammurabi’s Justice News | AP

A
few months later, Bolton – this time in a
New
York Times
 op-ed
– detailed his plan to create
 a
sectarian Sunni state
 out
of northeastern Syria and western Iraq, which he nicknamed
“Sunni-stan.” He asserted that such a country would have
“economic potential” as an oil producer, would serve as a
“bulwark” against the Syrian government and “Iran-allied
Baghdad,” and would help ensure the defeat of Daesh (ISIS).
Bolton’s mention of oil is notable, as the proposed territory for
this Sunni state sits on key oil fields that U.S. oil interests, such
as ExxonMobil and the Koch brothers,
 have
sought to control
 if
the partition of Iraq and Syria comes to pass.

Bolton
also suggested that Arab Gulf States like Saudi Arabia “could
provide significant financing” for the creation of this future
state, adding that “the Arab monarchies like Saudi Arabia must not
only fund much of the new state’s early needs, but also ensure its
stability and resistance to radical forces.”

Yet
Bolton fails to note that Saudi Arabia is one of the
 chief
financiers
 of
Daesh and
 largely
responsible
 for
spreading “radical” Wahhabi Islam throughout the Middle East.
Thus, any future state that the Saudis would fund would undoubtedly
mirror the ethos of Saudi Arabia itself – i.e., an authoritarian,
radical Wahhabist state that
executes
nonviolent protesters
oppresses
minorities
,
and launches
genocidal
wars
 against
its neighbors in an effort to
control
their resources
.

Furthermore,
the ultimate goal outlined within the USMC Intelligence document of
undermining  Iran’s regional clout continues to be the guide
for the U.S.’ current Syria policy, which recently changed yet
again to include regime change in Damascus as part of its goal. For
instance, earlier this year, Bolton – in his capacity as National
Security Adviser –
 stated
that
 U.S.
troops would remain in Syria “as long as the Iranian menace
continues throughout the Middle East.”

More
recently, the Trump administration “
redefined
its Syria policy to include “the exit of all Iranian military and
proxy forces from Syria” as the administration’s top priority,
while also calling for the installation of “a stable,
non-threatening government” that would not have Assad as Syria’s
leader.

Thus,
while seven years have come and gone since the leaked document was
written by USMC intelligence, little has changed when it comes to the
U.S.’ long-standing goals in Syria and its callous disregard for
the will of the Syrian people and Syrian democracy.

In
een opiniestuk van
As’ad

In

‘Palestijns grondgebied’ bevonden…… Daarbij vermoordden deze
psychopaten zelfs kinderen, invaliden, duidelijk herkenbare

Being
on the deadly end of his policies, many Arabs view John McCain in a
very different way than the U.S. mass media has presented him.

The
destruction of Mosul. (Wikimedia Commons)

(CN Op-ed) — It
is not unusual that Arabs and Americans look at the same event from
divergent lenses. Take, for instance, a scene from John McCain’s
2008 presidential campaign when he told  a woman in the audience
who had called Obama an Arab: “No, Ma`am. He is not an Arab. He’s
a decent family man.”

That
brief exchange has been tweeted and retweeted thousands of time in
the last few days following McCain’s death. It has been promoted by
people in mainstream media (and think tanks and academia) as evidence
of the civility, “classiness”, and lack of prejudice of McCain.
Yet, Arabs saw something entirely different in that exchange.
They saw bigotry from McCain, who was denying that Obama was Arab
in the same way one denies that someone is a Nazi.  He
clearly implied that an Arab can’t be a decent family man.  In
fact, Gen. Colin Powell was the only U.S. politician who pointed this
out at the time.  But a new image of McCain is being formulated
before our eyes.

For
Arabs in the Middle East and in the U.S., the view of McCain does not
conform to the hagiography of U.S. media.  People in the region
remember well that McCain supported every U.S. and Israeli war,
invasion, or attack against any Arab target. They remember that he
was a major proponent of invading Iraq and argued for the expansion
of U.S. wars into Iran, Libya and Syria in the wake of Sep. 11.

While
the Washington director of Human Rights Watch was writing tributes to
McCain
,
Arabs were remembering him as a champion of Middle East dictators
(except those on bad terms with the U.S. and Israel.) It was not a
coincidence that both the official Saudi regime lobby in DC and AIPAC
promptly released emotional eulogies for McCain. The
English-language,
Arab
Times
 (a
mouthpiece of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman) dedicated a
special issue to him.

McCain
never wavered in his conformity with AIPAC’s agenda.  He never
had disagreements with the Israeli government except in outbidding
them in his hostility to Palestinian rights and the usefulness of
negotiations with Arabs.

Yet in
the context of Washington politics, McCain was not regarded as the
anti-Arab/anti-Muslim that he was, perhaps because there were Arabs
and Muslims that he approved of. He championed, for instance, Iraqi
opposition figure Ahmad Chalabi (a key fabricator in the buildup to
the U.S. invasion of Iraq) and the Afghan Muhajedeen. He was very
close to Arab despots and approved arms sales to their repressive
armies and intelligence apparatuses. He spoke of democracy but in the
way that invading and colonizing states glorify “freedom” to
justify conquest.

McCain
was a champion of Syrian rebels and pictures of him with Jihadi
extremists (in Libya and in Syria) were circulated by Arabs on social
media in the last week. while the Washington press corps and Human
Rights Watch were paying tribute him as “a defender of democracy.”

Schooled
by Scoop

McCain
was
mentored on
the Middle East, according to his biographies, by Henry “Scoop”
Jackson, who for years was the dean of ardent Zionists in the U.S.
Congress. Those were in the days when a few members—mostly
Republicans—dared to challenge AIPAC. McCain’s first trip to
Israel was a member of a delegation led by Jackson when McCain was
the Navy’s liaison to the Senate.  Typically, like all
U.S. politicians who visit Israel, McCain became convinced by
the view from Israeli military helicopters of the vulnerability of
“little Israel” and that Israel needed to continue to occupy,
invade, attack and assassinate.

In
Congress, McCain managed to become associated with AIPAC’s agenda
more than his colleagues. He always argued for more support for
Israel. And when Israel and the U.S. both accepted negotiations with
Yasser Arafat, he remained skeptical, raising doubts about the
intentions of the Palestinians.

After
his election to Congress, McCain quickly set himself up as an expert
on defense and foreign policy. His first foreign policy posture in
Congress was in 1983, when he opposed U.S. intervention in Lebanon,
but not on humanitarian grounds. Instead he basically argued that far
more force was needed against Syria and its allies in Lebanon. This
became a pattern for the Vietnam veteran: that more force is always
needed wherever U.S. troops are deployed. Some attribute the “surge”
to him, as if the surge really salvaged American fortunes in Iraq.

In
an
article written
during his 2008 presidential campaign,
The
New York Times
 talked
about the McCain Doctrine and referred to his reaction to Sep. 11,
when he argued for war on Syria, Iran, and Afghanistan.  For
McCain, war was the only recourse for dealing with foes of the U.S.
and Israel. And war was not effective for McCain without massive
force and heavy troop deployments.

The
Senator and the
Ikhwan

McCain
was a champion of the Muslim Brotherhood (
Jam’iyat
al-Ikhwan
 al-Muslimin),
even if that put him at odds with Gulf rulers who he also supported.
This position may seem uncharacteristic given his longstanding
fealty to AIPAC and its agenda, and his general unfriendliness to
Arabs and Muslims. But McCain may have undertaken this role at the
behest of AIPAC.

Homs,
Syria

In
the aftermath of the Arab uprisings, McCain negotiated with leaders
of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt.
It was after a series of visits from leaders of those movements to
Washington that they basically reversed their traditional position on
Israel. Leaders of
An-Nahda rescinded
their plan to criminalize normalization with Israel, while leaders of
the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood pledged commitment to the
Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty.

Similarly,
the stance of the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood abandoned any hostility
toward Israel and even toward its occupation of the Golan heights.
McCain’s confidence in the ability of the
Ikhwan to
deliver the interests of Israel and U.S., led him to oppose Sisi’s
coup as he trusted that Mohammed Morsi would be able to guard U.S.
interests and the interests of the Egyptian-Israeli
military-intelligence alliance.

McCain
became, in this manner, an unabashed champion of what is called in
the West (and in the Gulf regimes’ media) the “Syrian
revolution”.  He also trusted the Islamists in the
“revolution” and hoped that Israeli interests would be served by
a change of regime that would be aligned with the U.S. and Israel. The risk of promoting Jihadi Islamist rebels was, for McCain and the
Israeli lobby, worth the effort.  For that, McCain’s death was
mourned by leaders of the “liberal” exile opposition and by
Jihadis of the Syrian rebels, including Huthaifah `Azzam, the son of
`Abdullah `Azzam (the mentor of Usamah bin Laden). (Huthaifah `Azzam
later deleted his post after I drew attention to it).

The
career of McCain intersected with the rise of AIPAC on Capitol Hill.
He also benefited from the Reagan and Bush Doctrines, both of which
relied on the use of massive force against the enemies of U.S. and
Israel.

The
assessment of McCain can’t hope to achieve a measure of balance
given the adulation by mainstream media for a man whose political
sins were always instantly forgotten.  His reference to
Vietnamese by a pejorative term was seen as an example of his frank
talk—not of his prejudice. His involvement with Charles Keating was
seen as an example of a minor error and not of the corruption of an
influential senator.  His endorsement of war, the Israeli
occupation, and his embrace of tyrants (especially in the Gulf and
North Africa) have not been perceived as inconsistent with the
media’s image of a champion of human rights.

In
the end, John McCain was a major face of American empire, just as
were two people who attended his funeral–Obama and Bush –and one
who did not, Trump.

Sifting
through the CIA’s database of 11 million+ declassified documents,
WikiLeaks has uncovered a report from 1986 on “possible
scenarios that could lead to the ouster of President Assad.”
Pointing to the potential for exploiting sectarian tensions, the
report nonetheless ironically explains why the US’s current regime
change strategy is wrong.

In
January, the US Central Intelligence Agency put over 11 million of
its declassified files online. On Monday, WikiLeaks discovered that
one of these documents includes a secret report involving scenarios
for ousting Hafez Assad (Bashar Assad’s father) going back all the
way to the Reagan administration.

WikiLeaks
@wikileaks

Full CIA doc: Scenarios for ousting Assad — found in recently uploaded CREST database (1986) https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP86T01017R000100770001-5.pdf

The document,
created under the supervision of the Director of Global Issues by the
appropriately named Foreign Subversion and Instability Center, and
distributed to senior intelligence officials, as well as officials in
the State Department, the Pentagon, Reagan Middle East policy advisor
Dennis Ross, and William Eagleton, then-US ambassador in Syria.

The
memorandum casually lays out what the CIA envisions to be the
“scenarios that could lead to the ouster of President Hafez
al-Assad in Syria.” The report makes no bones about its
“purposely provocative” nature and tone.

Predating
the 2011 Arab Spring unrest which would engulf Syria in a bloody
foreign-backed civil war by nearly a quarter of a century, the CIA
report offered an effective proto blueprint for US intelligence to
play up factionalism between the Alawite minority (to which the Assad
family belongs) and Sunni Muslims, who make up around three quarters
of Syria’s population.

Why
Assad Must Stay: ‘A War Involving Fighters From 86 Countries Isn’t a
Civil War’

The
document pointed out that while tensions between the Alawites and
Sunnis had declined significantly by the mid-1980s, “the
potential for serious communal violence remains.” In fact, the
report’s authors argued that a sectarian conflict leading to civil
war is one of the top three options for regime change in Syria, the
other two being a succession power struggle and military setbacks
abroad in Lebanon or Israel sparking a coup.

“A
Sunni rebellion in the late 1970s and early 1980s ended when Assad
crushed the Muslim Brotherhood that spearheaded it,” the report
noted. It added, however that “although we judge that fears of
reprisals and organizational problems make a second Sunni challenge
unlikely, an excessive government reaction to minor outbreaks of
Sunni dissidence might trigger large-scale unrest. In most instances
the regime would have the resources to crush a Sunni opposition
movement, but we believe widespread violence among the populace could
stimulate large numbers of Sunni officers and conscripts to desert or
mutiny, setting the stage for civil war.”

The
failed ‘Sunni challenge’ being referred to was the February 1982
storming of Hama, known in the West as the ‘Hama Massacre’, in which
the Syrian government crushed an Islamist uprising led by the Muslim
Brotherhood-led in the western Syrian city of Hama. The storming of
the city resulted in the deaths of hundreds of soldiers and militants
and several thousand civilians.

Without
getting into too many details, the report claimed that any new
“general campaign of Alawi violence against Sunnis might push
even moderate Sunnis to join the opposition. Remnants of the Muslim
Brotherhood – some returning from exile in Iraq – could provide a
core of leadership for the movement.”

Furthermore,
the report estimated that “although the regime has the resources
to crush such a venture, we believe brutal attacks on Sunni civilians
might prompt large numbers of Sunni officers and conscripts to desert
or stage mutinies in support of dissidents, and Iraq might supply
them with sufficient weapons to launch a civil war.”

Bringing
to mind the long-standing ties between Damascus and Moscow, which go
back to the 1960s, the CIA attempted to predict the Soviet Union’s
likely response to any attempt to oust Assad. It concluded that
Moscow’s best interest would be to preserve the status quo.

Expanding
on the latter idea, the report explained that “business
moderates would see a strong need for Western aid and investment to
build Syria’s private economy, thus opening the way for stronger ties
with Western governments.”

Top
3 Most Notorious MSM Fake News Tactics From the Syrian War

Interestingly,
unlike its Obama-era successors, the CIA of the 1980s had warned that
any prolonged chaos and civil war in Syria would turn it into a
“dangerously erratic force in the region,” and adding that
“a weak government in Damascus might heighten Syria’s
attractiveness as a base for terrorism.”

Ironically,
the report also warned that any gains the US might see by Assad’s
ouster “would be mitigated…if Sunni fundamentalists assumed
power. The reason, again, has to do with Israel’s security:
“Although Syria’s secular traditions would make it extremely
difficult for religious zealots to establish an Islamic Republic,
should they succeed they would likely deepen hostilities with Israel
and provide support and sanctuary for terrorist groups.”

In
reality, of course, the effort to destabilize Syria in the early
2010s was a joint effort by the US and its Israeli, Turkish and Gulf
State allies. It would be Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, not Iraq,
that would provide the lion’s share of the weapons used by militants.
Furthermore, the CIA report failed to mention or predict the inflow
of tens of thousands of jihadists into Syria from abroad, even though
it was employing similar tactics in Afghanistan against the Soviet
Union during this period.

It’s
unknown whether the CIA of the 1980s genuinely believed that the
‘moderates’ in whom they placed their hopes  wouldn’t
immediately be swallowed up by radical Islamists, although US
experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan in the 2000s make it unlikely
that the CIA of the 2000s couldn’t foresee such an eventuality.

Hillary
Clinton Knew She Was Helping Terrorists

Hillary
Clinton Knew She Was Helping Islamists Move Into Power In Libya

Hillary Clinton received intelligence that her effort to bring down Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi was leading to the rise of al-Qaeda militants and the Muslim Brotherhood in the country, according to emails released by WikiLeaks.

More than a year before the Benghazi attack, Clinton learned that al-Qaeda terrorists were infiltrating the post-Gadaffi transitional government. Clinton also acknowledged that the Muslim Brotherhood wielded the “real power” in the rebel movement that Clinton was supporting — and that their Brotherhood allies in Egypt were waiting in the wings to move into Libya’s oil sector.

Clinton received a “CONFIDENTIAL” memo from Sidney Blumenthal on March 27, 2011. The subject of the email was “Re: Lots of new intel; Libyan army possibly on verge of collapse.”

Blumenthal explained that “radical/terrorist” groups were “infiltrating the NLC,” or National Libyan Council, a rebel quasi-government that earned French recognition as Libya’s governing body that very same month. Clinton was warned that al-Qaeda could become major players in the region.

Blumenthal wrote:

This situation has become increasingly frustrating for French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who, according to knowledgeable individuals, is pressing to have France emerge from this crisis as the principal foreign ally of any new government that takes power. Sarkozy is also concerned about continuing reports that radical/terrorist groups such as the Libyan Fighting Groups and Al Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) are infiltrating the NLC and its military command. Accordingly, he asked sociologist who has long established ties to Israel, Syria, and other B6 nations in the Middle East, to use his contacts to determine the level of influence AQIM and other. terrorist groups have inside of the NLC. Sarkozy also asked for reports setting out a clear picture of the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in the rebel leadership…

(Source Comment: Senior European security officials caution that AQIM is watching developments in Libya, and elements of that organization have been in touch with tribes in the southeastern part of the country. These officials are concerned that in a post-Qaddafi Libya, France and other western European countries must move quickly to ensure that the new government does not allow AQIM and others to set up small, semi- autonomous local entities—or “Caliphates”—in the oil and gas producing regions of southeastern Libya.)”

On May 30, 2011, Hillary aide Jake Sullivan sent the secretary of state a full list of known “Libya emissaries.” By then, the National Libyan Council had given way to the Transitional National Council (TNC), but the “real power” still lay with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Sullivan’s intelligence memo noted:

The Qadhafi regime has also met with the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood leadership in Egypt. According to Qadhafi chief of staff Fouad Zlitni, the Muslim Brotherhood asserts that TNC may be the political leadership of the opposition, but the real power lies with the Libyan Brotherhood and they are apparently willing to bide their time. The Qadhafi regime also offered to send senior tribal leaders to Benghazi to negotiate with the TNC, but the TNC rejected the proposal.”

Clinton forwarded that email to an aide, acknowledging that she had received it and assessed its contents.

Sidney Blumenthal wrote to Clinton again on July 3, 2012, two months before Benghazi, to talk about the upcoming election. The election, Blumenthal noted, was how the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt was hoping to use the new Brotherhood party in Libya to get into the Libyan oil game.

Blumenthal wrote:

Source Comment: In the opinion of a knowledgeable individual, the division of the 200 seats in the GNC lies at the heart of this matter, with 120 seats allotted for the Tripolitania, 60 for Barqa, and 18 for the Fezzan area. At present, the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood (LMB) and its political arm, the Justice and Construction Party (JCP), are attempting to mount a national campaign, receiving discreet advice and technical support from the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood (EMB). With this assistance, Jalil is convinced that the JCP is the party that operates most effectively throughout the country. Jalil has established ties to the EMB, from whom he has learned that JCP leader Mohamad Sowan and his associates are working with the leadership of the EMB.) 4.According to his sources, Jalil believes that he can work with Sowan and the LMB/JCP; however, he is concerned that Mohammed Morsi, the newly elected EMB President of Egypt, and EMB Supreme Guide Mohammed Badie are focused on developing Egyptian influence in Libya. Jalil has been informed privately that these EMB leaders want to establish a strong position in Libya, particularly in the oil services sector as part of their effort to improve Egypt’s economic situation.

Over in Egypt, Clinton helped spur the uprising that led to the Muslim Brotherhood briefly taking power in that country around the same time. And a young Clinton Foundation employee, Gehad El-Haddad, was already working in Cairo to help the Muslim Brotherhood gain power.

El-Haddad was arrested in 2013, following the brief and disastrous reign of Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Morsi, for inciting violence. He was reportedly one of Morsi’s top advisers. El-Haddad was sentenced to life in prison in 2015.

Rebellen?

A
Tale Of Two Hospitals

Potentially
Fabricated Bombing Incident VS Open Terrorist Targeting Of Facilities
In Aleppo

May
05, 2016 “
Information
Clearing House

– “
Activist
Post

–  Over the past few days, the Western corporate press has
kicked into overdrive with reports of hospital bombings, dead
civilians, and war crimes all blamed predictably on the secular
government of Bashar al-Assad. According to Western governments and
their media mouthpieces, Assad’s forces have targeted civilian
hospitals in order to . . . well . . . no one knows why Assad’s
forces would logically target civilian hospitals. Still, the Western
harpies – both media and “human rights NGOs” – continue to
hammer the unsubstantiated claims and misinformation at the tops of
their lungs that the SAA is dropping bombs on civilian medical
facilities.

The
First “Hospital” : al-Quds

The
bombing being attributed to the Syrian military is the destruction of
the “al-Quds” hospital, an alleged Medicines Sans Frontieres
hospital located in Aleppo. Even officially, however, it is important
to note that the alleged “hospital” was not an MSF facility but
one which was “supported” by MSF. This might seem like a small
technicality but it is actually an important difference since MSF
(aka Doctors Without Borders) is well known to be anything but an
impartial observer in the Syrian crisis. As Tony Cartalucci wrote in
his article, “’Doctors’
Behind Syrian Chemical Weapons Claim Are Aiding Terrorists
,” in
2013,

While
it is often described by the Western media as “independent,”
nothing could be further from the truth.

To
begin with, Doctors Without Borders is fully funded by the very same
corporate financier interests behind Wall Street and London’s
collective foreign policy, including regime change in Syria and
neighboring Iran. Doctors Without Borders’ own
annual report
 (2010
report can be accessed here
), includes as financial donors,
Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, Google, Microsoft, Bloomberg,
Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital, and a myriad of other
corporate-financier interests. Doctors Without Borders also features
bankers upon its Board of Advisers including Elizabeth Beshel
Robinson of Goldman Sachs.

Complicating
further Doctors Without Borders so-called “independent” and “aid”
claims is the fact that their medical facilities are set up in
terrorist held regions of Syria, especially along Syria’s northern
border with NATO-member Turkey. In
an interview with NPR
, Doctors Without Borders’ Stephen Cornish
revealed the nature of his organization’s involvement in the Syrian
conflict, where he explains that aid is being sent to regions outside
of the Syrian government’s control, and that his organization is in
fact setting up facilities in these areas. Cornish admits [emphasis
added]:

Over
the past months, we’ve had a surgery that was opened inside a cave.
We’ve had another that was opened in a chicken farm, a third one in
a house. And these structures, we’ve tried to outfit them as best
as we can with enough modern technology and with full medical
teams.
They
originally were dealing mainly with combatant injuries and people who
were – civilians who were directly affected by the conflict.

In
other words, the Wall Street-funded organization is providing support
for militants
armed and funded by the West and its regional allies
, most of
whom are revealed to be foreign fighters, affiliated with or directly
belonging to Al Qaeda and its defacto political wing, the Muslim
Brotherhood. This so-called “international aid” organization is
in actuality yet another cog in the covert military machine being
turned against Syria and serves the role as a medical battalion.

In
a telling interview
with NPR
, which Cartalucci partially quotes in his own article,
the Executive Director of DWB, Stephen Cornish, admitted
the fact
that the organization largely has provided medical
aid to the death squads not just as a matter of unbiased Hippocratic
Oath-based treatment, but what appears to be a “rebel”-based
program.

Again,
Cornish revealed,

Over
the past months, we’ve had a surgery that was opened inside a cave.
We’ve had another that was opened in a chicken farm, a third one in
a house. And these structures, we’ve tried to outfit them as best
as we can with enough modern technology and with full medical
teams.
They
originally were dealing mainly with combatant injuries
and
people who were – civilians who were directly affected by the
conflict. [emphasis added]

Even
assuming that the “civilians” Cornish mentions are truly
civilians, Cornish’s team has also been focused largely on
“combatant injuries” which is an interesting focus considering
that the teams are mainly located within death squad controlled
territory.

Indeed,
Cornish removes all doubt about whether or not the death squads are
receiving priority care as the interview continues. Cornish states,

So
it is very difficult for civilians to find care. And one of the
difficulties also is that a number of
smaller
surgeries that have been set up are either overwhelmed with
combatants or primarily taking care of combatants.
 And
what we would certainly urge is that all surgeries and all health
posts also are accommodating the civilian population.

BLOCK:
You mean, in other words, that
the
fighters are getting priority for medical care
 and
the civilians are suffering for that.

CORNISH: Unfortunately,
that is sometimes the reality on the ground. Some of the surgeries we
visited, you could tell that because not only there were no civilians
on the wards, but there were also no beds or toilet facilities for
women. So it’s kind of a dead giveaway.
 [emphasis
added]

Returning
to the question of the al-Quds hospital, however, it should be noted
that the facility has been reported to be nothing more than a “field
hospital” for terrorists trapped in Aleppo in the past, the bombing
of which allegedly killed over 50 death squad fighters, at least
according to reports by Ziad
Fadel of
Syrian
Perspective
.
After all, the hospital
was being run
in the “rebel”-held area of Sukkari.

Some,
however, dispute whether or not the hospital was ever actually
bombed. Both the Syrian and Russian governments denied
bombing
the hospital to begin with. The
Russians suggested
 that the “anti-ISIL coalition” was
operating fighter jets in the area around the time of the bombing,
implying that the bombing may have been conducted by the American
forces, but the U.S. denies the Russian claim.

In
addition to the question of whether or not the bombed “hospital”
was a civilian operation or a combatant one, there is even question
as to whether or not the field hospital that was bombed was actually
al-Quds and, strangely enough, whether or not al-Quds ever actually
existed.

For
instance, Dr. Nabil Antaki, a doctor based in western Aleppo called
into question
the existence of al-Quds. After viewing
the Channel
video showing the hospital moment before the attack, he
responded
that “This hospital [Al Quds] did not exist
before the war started. It must have been installed in a building
after the war began. I don’t know anyone in the East of Aleppo who
could confirm this hospital is Al Quds.”

The
Second Hospital: al-Dhabeet

Yet
if the pinnacle of war crimes and brutality is the bombing of
hospitals, the United States was forced to eat its own words when,
after only a few days of propagandizing the Western public with
reports of SAA hospital bombing, its very own terrorist pets would
begin openly firing missiles at another hospital in Aleppo.

Obviously,
the United States made no mention of
its own bombing
of a MSF hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan
earlier this year.

Still,
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was forced
to condemn
the rocket attacks aimed at the Syrian hospital
by Western-backed terrorists, albeit in a manner which would not
directly attribute blame to the U.S. proxy forces.

Indeed,
on May 3,
SANA news
agency reported that,

terrorists
fired 65 rocket shells on the neighborhoods of al-Neel Street,
al-Siryian, al-Khalidyia, al-Mocambo, al-Sabeel and the surroundings
of al-Rahman mosque leaving 11 civilians killed and 37 injured. A
source at Aleppo Health Directorate said that most of the wounded
civilians are children and women and their injuries are severe as the
number of the killed civilians might increase.

Eva
Bartlett chronicles the report in her own article “Hospitals
Bombed: Aleppo Burning Under ‘Moderate’ Terrorist Bombs
,”
by writing,

Later,
SANA’s correspondent in Aleppo reported that three women were
killed, 17 other women and children were wounded and extensive
material damage was caused by terrorist organizations’ attack with
a rocket shell on al-Dhabeet Hospital in al-Mouhafaza neighborhood.”

SANA
listed the attacked districts as: al-Midan, al-Furqan, Nile Street,
al-Mukambo, al-Khalidiye, Jami’et al-Zahra’a, al-Ameriye,
al-Ramousa, al-Masharqa, al-Muhafaza, al-Meridian, al-Serian,
al-Sabeel, and al-Jamiliye in Aleppo city.

SANA’s
Facebook update included
numerous photos of the bombed al-Dhabeet Hospital, noting the number
of dead had risen to at least 14, a number which will no doubt rise
in the coming hours.

According
to SAMA tv, the number of murdered has risen to 28.

Ruptly
TV raw footage shows the disastrous impacts of the bombings,
and–uncensored–some of the mutilated victims.

A
tale of two hospitals indeed, at least from the point of the view
of the West and the Anglo-Americans. In the Western media, one
hospital bombing (if it actually took place) equals a war crime
that warrants the condemnation of the world while the other
warrants merely a forced, hesitant, and tepid complaint. Even the
painful admission that bombing civilians and civilian hospitals is
wrong was barely uttered out of Kerry’s mouth before it was
accompanied by the requisite condemnation of the Syrian government
and the elected President Bashar al-Assad.Yet the recent bombing
of al-Dhabeet is nothing new in Syria. Western-backed terrorists
have been launching assaults on hospitals since the beginning of
the crisis. As
Prof. Tim Anderson pointed out
,

Over
the past five years the al Qaeda groups have attacked 2/3 of all
Syria’s hospitals and clinics, plus pharmaceutical factories,
many of which were in Aleppo. [Most recent one should read ‘al
Dabit’] Al Razi General Hospital (state) was also hit by the al
Nusra coalition, just days ago.”

Anderson
also pointed out a number of other attacks on hospitals such as
those listed below.

al
Watani hospital in Qusayr bombed by Farouq FSA, back in 2012.”
(Video)

-“al
Nusra-FSA suicide bomb al Kindi hospital Aleppo, December 2013.”
(Video)

-“al
Qaeda groups bombed Ibn Rushd hospital also in Aleppo, on 26
April.” (Video)

-“al
Razi general hospital was also hit, just days ago.” (Link)

Unsurprisingly,” Eva
Bartlett writes
, “instead of reporting on these documented
instances of terrorists (filming themselves) attacking Syrian
hospitals, corporate media and propagandizing “human
rights” groups
are instead filling front pages and tv
screens with screaming accusations of the Syrian army and/or
Russia having bombed a so-called MSF hospital in Aleppo.”

Conclusion

Obviously,
the Western indignation over the alleged bombing of the al-Quds
non-hospital was never anything more than propaganda aimed at
drumming up support for greater U.S. military involvement in Syria
and the increased attempt at destroying the secular Syrian
government. At best, the information repeated to Western audiences
was misconstrued. At worst, it was entirely made up.
