Oorlog moet eindelijk echt vervolgd worden als de enorm smerige misdaad die het is!

Naar aanleiding van het besluit dat het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) nam, oorlog als misdaad te vervolgen, ontving ik een petitie van World Beyond War (WBW) via Action Network. Hierin worden alle problemen opgenoemd, waarmee het ICC te maken zal krijgen, neem de VS, dit ‘land’ erkent het ICC niet, maar begint wel de ene illegale oorlog na de andere…….

Toch ziet World Beyond War mogelijkheden om de VS aan te klagen. Zo zou het ICC nu bezig zijn met onderzoek naar oorlogsmisdaden door de VS gepleegd in Afghanistan*, dit daar Afghanistan in tegenstelling tot de VS wel lid is van het ICC. Echter alleen de door de VS verrichtte oorlogsmisdaden kunnen dan vervolgd worden en niet het beginnen van die illegale oorlog (de ultieme oorlogsmisdaad). Vreemd dat het ICC niet de andere NAVO landen, die deelnamen/nemen aan die oorlog, onderzoekt op oorlogsmisdaden, daar ook dat ‘geen misselijk’ aantal misdaden is…… Wat betreft het beginnen van oorlogen, heeft het ICC lullig genoeg besloten, alleen oorlogen te vervolgen die werden aangegaan na 17 juli 2018……

Aan de belachelijke precieze datum (dus waarom niet vanaf 1 januari 2018), kan je al zien dat dit een groot discussiepunt is geweest, waarbij de deelnemers hoogstwaarschijnlijk onder druk zijn gezet door de VS. De VS die waarschijnlijk nog wel een oorlog (of meer) wil beginnen voor die datum……

Maar laten we blij zijn dat oorlogen, en oorlogsmisdaden begaan door de VS, eindelijk vervolgd zullen gaan worden door het ICC!

Mensen, lees ajb het volgende en zet je handtekening onder de petitie aan de regeringen op onze aarde, zich achter het ICC te scharen en eindelijk oorlog echt tot een misdaad te verklaren. Dit om zo de weg richting waarlijke vervolging door het ICC open te stellen en daarmee de hoop te koesteren dat dit toekomstige oorlogen kan voorkomen.

It Could Finally Be Possible to Prosecute War as a Crime

War
is a crime. The International Criminal Court has just announced that
it will finally treat it as a crime, sort-of, kind-of. But how can
war’s status as a crime effectively deter the world’s leading
war-maker from threatening and launching more wars, large and small?
How can laws against war actually be put to use? How can the ICC’s
announcement be made into something more than a pretense?


The
Kellogg-Briand Pact made war a crime in 1928, and various atrocities
became criminal charges at Nuremberg and Tokyo because they were
constituent parts of that larger crime. The United Nations Charter
maintained war as a crime, but limited it to “aggressive” war,
and gave immunity to any wars launched with U.N. approval.

The
International Court of Justice** (ICJ) could try the United States for
attacking a country if (1) that country brought a case, and (2) the
United States agreed to the process, and (3) the United States chose
not to block any judgment by using its veto power at the U.N.
Security Council. Desirable future reforms obviously include urging
all U.N. members to accept the compulsory jurisdiction of the ICJ,
and eliminating the veto. But what can be done now?

The
International Criminal Court (ICC) can try individuals for various
“war crimes,” but has thus far tried only Africans, though for
some time now it has claimed to be “investigating” U.S. crimes in
Afghanistan. Although the U.S. is not a member of the ICC,
Afghanistan is. Desirable future reforms obviously include urging all
nations, including the United States, to join the ICC. But what can
be done now?

The
ICC has finally announced that
it will prosecute individuals (such as the U.S. president and
secretary of “defense”) for the crime of “aggression,” which
is to say: war. But such wars must be launched after July 17, 2018.
And those who can be prosecuted for war will be only citizens of
those nations that have both joined the ICC and ratified the
amendment adding jurisdiction over “aggression.” Desirable future
reforms obviously include urging all nations, including the United
States, to ratify the amendment on “aggression.” But what can be
done now?

The
only way around these restrictions, is for the U.N. Security Council
to refer a case to the ICC. If that happens, then the ICC can
prosecute anyone in the world for the crime of war.

This
means that for the force of law to have any chance of deterring the
U.S. government from threatening and launching wars, we need to
persuade one or more of the fifteen
nations on
the U.N. Security Council to make clear that they will raise the
matter for a vote. Five of those fifteen have veto power, and one of
those five is the United States.

So,
we also need nations of the world to proclaim that when the Security
Council fails to refer the case, they will bring the matter before
the U.N. General Assembly though a “Uniting
for Peace”
procedure in emergency session to override the veto. This is what was
just done in December 2017 to overwhelmingly pass a resolution that
the U.S. had vetoed, a resolution condemning the U.S. naming
Jerusalem the capital of Israel.

Not
only do we need to jump through each of these hoops (a commitment to
a Security Council vote, and a commitment to override the veto in the
General Assembly) but we need to make evident beforehand that we will
be certain or likely to do so.

Therefore,
World Beyond War is launching a
global petition to the national governments of the world asking
for their public commitment to refer any war launched by any nation
to the ICC with or without the Security Council. Click

After
all, it is not only U.S. wars that should be prosecuted as crimes,
but all wars. And, in fact, it may prove necessary to prosecute
junior partners of the United States in its “coalition” wars
prior to prosecuting the ring leader. The problem is not one of lack
of evidence, of course, but of political will. The U.K., France,
Canada, Australia, or some other co-conspirator may be brought by
global and internal pressure (and the ability to circumvent the U.N.
Security Council) to submit to the rule of law prior to the United
States doing so.

A
key detail is this: how much organized murder and violent destruction
constitutes a war? Is a drone strike a war? Is base expansion and a
few home raids a war? How many bombs make a war? The answer should
be any use
of military force. But in the end, this question will be answered by
public pressure. If we can inform people of it and persuade the
nations of the world to refer it to trial, then it will be a war, and
therefore a crime.

my New Year’s resolution: I

In
het volgende bericht van Darius Shahtahmasebi geeft de VS letterlijk
toe ook speciale troepen te hebben in Midden- en Zuid-Amerikaanse
landen….. Dit was al bekend, maar een officiële bevestiging daarvoor was er tot nu toe niet. Waar deze speciale troepen (commando’s) zijn, adviseren ze niet alleen, maar vechten ze ook en in dit geval zou dat tegen acties van Al Qaida of IS zijn…….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! En dat door een ‘land’, de VS, dat het beste is aan te duiden als de
grootste terreurentiteit op aarde………..

Shahtahmasebi legt in zijn artikel uit, dat de VS ook de gewone
troepen wil gaan inzetten als speciale troepen, ofwel de geheime terroristische acties van de VS, zullen worden uitgebreid met
gebruikmaking van onderdelen uit het gewone leger als speciale commando’s………. Dit naast de openlijke terreur die de VS uitoefent middels illegale oorlogen…..

In Afrika zou de VS in 20 landen bezig zijn met speciale troepen, wat tot nu toe tot 100 operaties heeft geleid……

Arme mensen, die met deze gehersenspoelde (en onder invloed van o.a. psychofarmaca), psychopathische moordenaars te maken krijgen……..

Overigens zou de NAVO intussen een militaire bases in Zuid-Amerika hebben (Colombia), uiteraard onder direct bevel van het Pentagon….. Zo mogen wij via de NAVO meebetalen aan VS-terreur in steeds meer landen…… Eén van de redenen waarom meer van de door ons opgebrachte belastinggelden naar de NAVO moeten…….

Department
of Defense Announces Major Changes to US Military Operations in 2018

(ANTIMEDIA) — An
interesting overlooked development taking place within the U.S.’
ever-expanding military is the recent announcement that conventional
forces will begin blurring their roles with those of Special Forces,
according to the Department
of Defense.

At
the end of last year, Defense Secretary James “Mad Dog” Mattis
told Pentagon reporters that the experiences of war since the 9/11
attacks have blurred the lines between the two forces, noting that
general purpose forces will eventually shoulder missions of their
Special Forces counterparts.

“I
anticipate more general purpose forces being used for some of the
missions,” he said. “In
the past, we used only special forces to do it. The general purpose
forces can do a lot of the kind of work that you see going on and, in
fact, are now.”

Specifically,
Mattis expects this to happen within Iraq and Syria (bear in mind
that U.S. troops, whether or not they are Special Forces, do not have
the legal basis to operate in Syrian territory).

“I
mean, there was a time when the only people who ran drones were the
Special Forces,” Mattis
also said,
as quoted by Military.com.
He said the use of drones is now widespread in the conventional
force.

Special
Operators have complained that they are overstretched, having
been deployed
almost everywhere across the globe.
In 2017, fourteen of the 33 U.S. troops killed
were assigned to
Special Forces operations, several of whom died in battle arenas
where the Trump administration has expanded counter-terrorism
operations over the past year.

“We
are not the ultimate solution to every problem, and you will not hear
that coming from us,” Gen.
Raymond “Tony” Thomas (III), SoCom commander, told the
Senate Armed Services Committee in May 2017.

“We
operate and fight in every corner of the world,”  Thomas
also reportedly
said. “On
a daily basis, we sustain a deployed or forward stationed force of
approximately 8,000 across 80-plus countries. They are conducting the
entire range of SOF [Special Operations Forces] missions in both
combat and non-combat situations.”

Special
Forces are typically
tasked with
carrying out 12 core missions, including counterinsurgency and
unconventional warfare to hostage rescue. As the Washington
Post established,
these Special Forces are frequently on the ground to coordinate fire
support, acting as an “observation
element for what appears to be US airstrikes carried out by A-10
ground attack aircraft.” According
to a report by Vice
News,
at any given time, U.S. Special Forces are conducting nearly 100
missions across 20 African countries. According to the Nation, Thomas
also said:

“Special
Operations Forces are the main effort, or major supporting effort for
US VEO-focused operations in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen,
Somalia, Libya, across the Sahel of Africa, the Philippines, and
Central/South America—essentially, everywhere Al Qaeda (AQ) and the
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are to be found…”

The
recent change seems likely to indicate that the U.S. will be stepping
up its involvement in areas it deems hotbeds of terrorism, perhaps
opening up the door to something
more confrontational.

It
also seems likely that we will see the increased presence of Special
Forces — as well conventional forces who have been trained to act
like Special Forces — in places well outside the Middle East and
Africa, including the
Philippines.

According
to Mattis, this change will most likely affect the dynamics in the
Afghanistan theater, as well. The Army’s new “Security Force
Assistance Brigades” (SFAB) is expected to deploy in the spring to
Afghanistan to train, advise, and assist the duties of the Special
Forces with the conventional Afghan forces.

“We’re
going to be putting more American forces, advisers, in the more
conventional force in the Afghan army. As you know, they have not had
them, and they’ve not — they were not ready to fight in the way
we want them to,” Mattis
said.

Oké ik
weet ‘t, Guterres is een slappe zak, maar ik moet zeggen dat ik
afgelopen zondag blij verrast was te lezen, dat hij de wereld waarschuwt voor
een catastrofe, waarbij Guterres de hoop op vrede noemde, die hij nog had toen hij
aantrad, maar dat 2017 (bijna) een eind aan die hoop heeft
gemaakt…… Niet voor niets dus dat Guterres alarmcode rood afkondigde voor de wereld, niet alleen wat betreft de oorlogen die gevoerd worden, maar ook vanwege de klimaatverandering, die via cumulatieve effecten* een steeds grotere bedreiging vormt voor miljoenen mensen……

Voorts is het een slap praatje van nog geen 1,5 minuut, waarin hij geen namen durfde te noemen, dus niets over de VS en Groot-Brittannie die de kans op een kernoorlog gigantisch hebben vergroot met hun verklaring dat ze het atoomwapen niet langer als afschrikkingswapen zien, dus alleen ter verdediging mocht een ander kernraketten af gaan schieten, maar als eerste aanvalswapen, ofwel een land (illegaal) aanvallen met kernwapens…….. Trump heeft Noord-Korea al bedreigd met een kernaanval………

Op het gebied van illegale oorlogsvoering heeft de VS ‘een reputatie’ die z’n weerga niet kent, ga maar na hoeveel landen de VS heeft aangevallen sinds alleen het eind van WOII** tot het jaar 2000, sinds die tijd zijn er al minstens 4 aan toe te voegen (overigens illegale oorlogen waar GB altijd naast de VS staat en wordt gesteund door veel NAVO landen, zoals Nederland………) 

Uiteraard had Guterres de VS moeten noemen, zeker als je begrijpt dat de VS de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde is….. Daarnaast heeft de VS onder het 666 beest Trump vaarwel gezegd tegen de al veel te zwakke klimaatakkoorden, me dunkt ook al een aparte waarschuwing van de VN waardig……..

UN Chief Issues Chilling ‘Red Alert’ Message for World in 2018

(COMMONDREAMS) — In
a video message delivered to the world to recognize the New Year,
Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres issued a
“red alert” for 2018.

“When
I took office one year ago, I appealed for 2017 to be a year for
peace,” he said. “Unfortunately, in fundamental ways, the world
has gone in reverse.”

This
time around, Guterres said he is “not issuing an appeal.”
Instead, he is “issuing an alert—a red alert for our world.”
The U.N. chief pointed to ongoing conflicts, “global anxieties
about nuclear weapons,” rising inequalities and xenophobia,
“horrific violations of human rights,” and the climate crisis as
leading reasons for worldwide alarm.

Calling
for global unity to address these issues, Guterres urged world
leaders “to make this New Year’s resolution: Narrow the gaps.
Bridge the divides. Rebuild trust by bringing people together around
common goals.”

* Cumulatieve effecten zoals het ontdooien van de permafrost, waarbij enorme hoeveelheden methaangas vrijkomen, één van de sterkste broeikasgassen op onze aarde, gassen die de klimaatverandering verder aanjagen…… Hetzelfde geldt voor het smelten van gletsjers en de ijskappen aan de polen. Voorts mocht er niet eens gesproken worden over een verhoging van de CO2 uitstoot belasting……

VS generaal van de mariniers, Robert Neller, waarschuwde onlangs de VS troepen in Europa dat hij een grote oorlog in de nabije toekomst ziet, een oorlog met Rusland……… Hoewel hij hoopt ongelijk te hebben, is het wel duidelijk dat Neller meer weet dan op het eerste gezicht lijkt…..

Niet zo gek als je de VS troepenopbouw in Europese NAVO landen en zelfs Oekraïne ziet (waar in feite geen VS troepen en al zeker geen NAVO troepen zouden mogen zijn….*). Tel daarbij de wil van de VS op als eerste het atoomwapen te gebruiken, dus niet als vergeldingswapen, maar als eerste aanvalswapen en daarnaast het raketschild dat de VS heeft geplaatst in Polen en Roemenië en het plaatje is compleet……

Dat raketschild zou zogenaamd inkomende Iraanse raketten moeten tegenhouden, terwijl deze antiraketten in een oogwenk kunnen worden veranderd is aanvalsraketten met kernkoppen en daarbij dicht op grens van Rusland op haar steden gericht staan….. (reken maar dat deze raketten nu al met kernkoppen zijn uitgerust….) Nog was dat het niet beste bezoeker: de VS is bezig om een gigantische berg tanks en andere ‘militaire hardware’ in Europa te plaatsen, o.a. in ons Limburg……….

Het volgende artikel is een combinatie van 2: de eerste is van Josh Delk gepubliceerd op The Hill, het  tweede is o.a. een samenvatting van het eerste en geschreven door Jason Ditz, gepubliceerd op ANTIWAR en Anti-Media. Om het verhaal zoveel mogelijk compleet te maken, heb ik beide artikelen in elkaar geschoven. Hopelijk nemen de schrijvers mij deze ‘ontwijding’ van hun werk niet kwalijk.

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Talking
to US troops in Europe related to ongoing tensions with Russia,
Marine Commandant Gen. Robert Neller warned that
he sees “a war coming,” troops deployed there are in for
“a big ass fight” and urged them to be prepared.

The commandant pointed to Russia and the Pacific theater as the next major areas of conflict, predicting a “big-ass fight” in the future. 

“I hope I’m wrong, but there’s a war coming,” Neller told Marines stationed in Norway, during a visit there, according to Military.com. “You’re in a fight here, an informational fight, a political fight, by your presence,” he added. 

The
commandant’s speech was meant to focus on the importance of
readiness for troops in Europe, and particularly
for a new rotational force in Norway, but
suggested that their very presence could trigger a war with Russia.

 “Just remember why you’re here,” he said. “They’re watching. Just like you watch them, they watch you.” 

“We’ve
got 300 Marines up here, we could go from 300 to 3,000 overnight,”
Neller added. Officially, the deployment isn’t even supposed to
mention Russia as part of their goals, citing regional sensitivities.

Neller’s visit comes amid tensions between Russia and NATO allies. Russia warned neighboring Norway that the presence of American troops could hurt relations, after Norway decision to host a new unit of U.S. soldiers through the end of 2018.

Russia has criticized the US presence so close to their border, and Norway’s opposition is similarly seeking a decent explanation for why US forces are in the country in the first place.

The administration says the Marines are there to enhance ties with European NATO allies and train in cold-weather combat.

US
commanders often play up the threat of imminent war with Russia as a
way to push for more funding, but the commandant’s language was
unusually frank, and suggested he genuinely sees a massive US-Russia
War breaking out in short order.

In a question-and-answer session with the troops, Neller said the U.S. could shift its focus after years of fighting in the Middle East to Eastern Europe, citing Russia’s conflicts with Ukraine and Georgia.

On Monday, President Trump unveiled a new national security strategy that focused on the threats posed by Russia and China to U.S. Interests.

Ontving afgelopen zondag een artikel van Jim Carey op Anti-Media. Hierin het nieuws dat de VS nu officieel wapens gaan leveren aan de Porosjenko junta in Oekraine…….

Volgens Carey leverde de VS tot nu toe alleen niet dodelijke ‘wapens’ aan Kiev, zoals voertuigen en zaken als hard- en software. Hier moet ik Carey echter tegenspreken, de VS leverde via via al veel eerder wel degelijk dodelijke wapens aan Kiev, ook al ging dit niet middels de officiële weg, leveringen van wapens waarvoor de CIA de coördinatie heeft gedaan……. Het gaat hier voor het grootste deel om wapens die uit Oost-Europa komen en die de Porosjenko kliek voor een appel en ei kon verwerven…..

De beslissing van de VS nu ook openlijk wapens te verkopen, zet de boel in Oost-Europa nog verder op scherp…… Ook Canada, dat zich meer en meer ontwikkelt als een onderaannemer van de VS (zoals Groot-Brittannie), nam eerder al de beslissing Oekraïne verder vol te proppen met wapens…..

Uiteraard doet men e.e.a. zogenaamd tegen Russische agressie in Oost-Oekraïne, terwijl daar één grote agressor is: het Oekraïense leger en dan m.n. de neonazi bataljons, die keer op keer de gesloten wapenstilstanden schenden en burgerdoelen beschieten, een oorlogsmisdaad volgens het verdrag van Genève…………..

De reguliere westerse media, het overgrote deel van de westerse politici en ‘opiniemakers’ (zoals die van HCSS* en Clingendael) houden de westerse bevolkingen keer op keer voor, dat het Russische leger in Oost-Oekraïne vecht, iets waarvoor men niet een flinter bewijs kan leveren, maar dat maakt niet uit: als je de leugens blijft herhalen, gelooft het gros van de mensen deze anti-Russische propaganda…. Ik zeg het nog maar eens: als het Russische leger daadwerkelijk mee had gevochten in Oost-Oekraïne, was heel Oekraïne al lang bevrijd van de uiterst corrupte neonazi-kliek in Kiev!!

De VS heeft overigens wel militairen in Oekraïne, waar men zelfs oefent op landingen (voor actie tegen De Krim), iets waar de reguliere westerse (massa-) media liever niet over berichten……..

Kortom: weer laat het westen zien niet geïnteresseerd te zijn in vrede, de oorlogsgod moet geëerd worden, u weet wel de god die zich bedient van het militair-industrieel complex en die vooral wordt aanbeden door de VS en de rest van het westen………

Agrees to Arm Ukraine

In
a move likely to further erode US-Russian relations, the Trump regime
has approved weapons sales to Ukraine.

(GPA) — While
Trump apologists spent last week pretending the US President was
finally making good on his promise “to improve relations with
Russia” by helping
foil a terror attack,
behind the scenes a much more despicable decision developed. This
decision, announced earlier this week, gives the green-light for US
arms dealers to sell
certain “defensive” weapons to
Ukraine, as opposed to the previous non-lethal support received by
Kiev.

While
it may be true that the US has been backing the military junta in
Ukraine since the days of the Maidan ‘protests,’ under the Obama
regime this support was limited to non-lethal materials such as
vehicles and intel equipment. Obama clearly had no problem propping
up these reactionary forces, but the US still didn’t cross the line
of arming Kiev’s soldiers until now.

Now
before our pro-Trump readers go off blaming the “deep state” for
this latest move, it must be said that a top White House official has
allegedly told the Washington
Post that
Trump personally signed off on this. The desire to make this decision
is also a publicly known priority of some of Trump’s top security
advisers including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Initially
the move to arm Ukraine was approved by the US Congress but was
heavily restricted by the Obama regime. Despite this bill passing
years ago, most senators weren’t personally invested in this
initial vote. However, a few zealots celebrate today. One such is the
neocon Bob Corker who told reporters he was “pleased the
administration approved the sale,” and that “This decision was
supported by Congress in legislation that became law three years ago
and reflects our country’s longstanding commitment to Ukraine in
the face of ongoing Russian aggression.”

The
US already has troops stationed in Ukraine and recently hosted NATO
drills which they invited Ukrainian soldiers to attend, but now with
the approval of arms sales, albeit only small arms such as Model
M107A1 Sniper Systems, the US has crossed a new line. Canada also
recently changed
their policy to
allow weapons sales to Ukraine signaling a possible larger shift of
NATO member policies.

This
move is, of course, occurring in an atmosphere of heightened tensions
between the west and Russia and is just the latest escalation in
Eastern Europe, where NATO troops have been massing for the last few
years. It has still never been independently verified that Russia
directly supports the rebels in east Ukraine against the forces of
Kiev (who continuously violate ceasefires), but with a partner as
unreliable as President Petro Poroshenko, the US arms sales will
likely be responsible for future murder and a possible PR victory for
Moscow.

Al jaren
durven de NAVO, een groot deel van de westerse politici, gesteund
door de westerse reguliere (massa-) media, de bevolking van de EU en
de VS voor te liegen dat er nooit een overeenkomst is gesloten met
Gorbatsjov in 1991, waarin men Rusland beloofde dat de NAVO zich niet
uit zou breiden in Oost-Europa, richting Russische grens. 

Terwijl
iedereen die zich enigszins heeft verdiept in deze zaak kon weten, dat
dit wel degelijk het geval was. Sterker nog: dit was voor Gorbatsjov
de voorwaarde om in te stemmen met de vereniging van West- en
Oost-Duitsland. Uit meerdere documenten blijkt nu dat het westen Rusland in de jaren 1990/1991 heeft verzekerd dat die NAVO uitbreiding niet zou plaatsvinden in de toekomst……..

Dit zet
grote vraagtekens bij alle leugens over Russische agressie in
Oost-Europa, zo bezien mogen de VS en de EU blij zijn dat Rusland zo
verstandig is geweest nooit actie te ondernemen tegen deze VS en NAVO
agressie*. Het is nu zelfs zo zot dat de VS dicht op de Russische
grens, in Roemenië en Polen, beiden ‘NAVO-landen’ een raketschild
heeft gestationeerd…… Een schild zogenaamd tegen Iraanse
raketten, echter die antiraketten kunnen in een mum van tijd voorzien
worden van kernkoppen (en dat zijn ze waarschijnlijk al), waarna ze als aanvalsraketten ingezet kunnen worden tegen Rusland en dat op redelijk korte afstand van
bijvoorbeeld Moskou…….

Voorts worden er de laatste jaren voortdurend grote NAVO oefening, gehouden langs de Russische grens…….. Tel daar nog eens de wil van de VS en Groot-Brittannie bij op, een eerste aanval met kernraketten niet langer uit te sluiten en WOIII ligt binnen schootsafstand…….**

(ANTIMEDIA) — When
the media talks about Russia’s activities in neighboring Europe,
Russia is typically
portrayed as
the aggressor. Russia’s standard response is usually that it has
been forced to protect its interests because the U.S. is actively
trying to contain
the country within a host of NATO allies,
which would essentially put American
troops and missiles alongside its border despite assurances at
the end of the Cold War that NATO would not expand into eastern
Europe.

However,
western critics are still debating whether such a promise ever
existed, as is NATO itself. As a result of this attempt to rewrite
history, NATO has continued to expand as far into eastern Europe as
possible, with Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic all joining in
1999. The alliance has broadened its
reach in the years since, ultimately to Russia’s detriment.

In
an article for Foreign
Affairs in
December 2014, Mark Kramer, director of the Harvard Project on Cold
War studies, stated he
had “examined
the declassified negotiating records and concluded that no such
promise was ever offered.”

“Mary
Elise Sarotte (“A
Broken Promise?”
September/October
2014) points to my article as an example of the history she intends
to correct,” Kramer
wrote, “but
she provides nothing that would change my judgment about what
happened. As I wrote, the question of NATO’s possible expansion
eastward arose numerous times during negotiations Gorbachev conducted
with U.S. Secretary of State James Baker, West German Chancellor
Helmut Kohl, and U.S. President George H. W. Bush. Viewed in
context, however,
it is clear that they were speaking solely about expanding the
alliance into East Germany.” [emphasis
added]

Kramer’s
assertion is that while it has been previously understood that
then-Secretary of State James Baker had assured Mikhail Gorbachev
that NATO would expand “not one inch eastward” during a meeting
that took place
on February 9, 1990,
the context was that of German reunification, not wider Europe.

However,
as the National
Interest recently
learned,
even Kramer’s assessment appears to be incorrect due to the release
of some further declassified
material.

“The
[recently declassified] documents show that multiple national leaders
were considering and rejecting Central and Eastern European
membership in NATO as of early 1990 and through 1991,” George
Washington University National Security Archives researchers Svetlana
Savranskaya and Tom Blanton wrote
in the National Security Archives. “That
discussions of NATO in the context of German unification negotiations
in 1990 were not at all narrowly limited to the status of East German
territory, and that subsequent Soviet and Russian complaints about
being misled about NATO expansion were founded in written
contemporaneous memcons and telcons at the highest levels.”

According
to the National Interest — and Russia continuously argues —
Gorbachev only accepted the proposal for German reunification (which
Gorbachev could have vetoed) due to these assurances that NATO would
not expand into Eastern Europe. This sequence of events is similar to
how Russia was duped out of using its veto power on a U.N. Security
Council Resolution in Libya in 2011 after having received
assurances that
the NATO coalition would not pursue regime change.

“I
believe that your thoughts about the role of NATO in the current
situation are the result of misunderstanding,” Major told Gorbachev,
according to British Ambassador
Rodric Braithwaite’s diary entry of March 5, 1991. “We
are not talking about strengthening of NATO. We are talking about the
coordination of efforts that is already happening in Europe between
NATO and the West European Union, which, as it is envisioned, would
allow all members of the European Community to contribute to enhance
[our] security.”

The
documents also show that Gorbachev and other Soviet leaders received
assurances against NATO expansion from Baker; President George H.W.
Bush; West German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher; West
German Chancellor Helmut Kohl; former CIA Director Robert Gates;
French leader Francois Mitterrand (who told Gorbachev he was in favor
of “gradually dismantling the military blocs”; Margaret Thatcher;
British Foreign Minister Douglas Hurd; and NATO secretary-general
Manfred Woerner.

Having
perused the relevant documents, Savranskaya and Blanton concluded
that “Gorbachev went to the end of the Soviet Union assured that
the West was not threatening his security and was not expanding
NATO.”

We
would do well to bear this in mind the next time the U.S.
saber-rattles Russia for wanting to protect
its borders against NATO aggression.
That being said, very few newspapers have paid any headline attention
at all to this story or its implications even though it continues to
be a major source of conflict between the two countries that hold the
majority of the world’s nuclear weapons.

Ex-topmensen van Facebook stellen dat dit medium onder meer een gevaar is voor de samenhang in de maatschappij op elk vlak en dat dit niets te maken heeft met Russische manipulaties…… Oké, niets nieuws onder de zon, maar gezien de volhardendheid van de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, in de leugen dat Rusland de VS verkiezingen en verkiezingen elders zou hebben gemanipuleerd, is het belangrijk elk bewijs tegen deze kul te noemen, kul die niet anders gezien kan worden dan als anti-Russische propaganda……..

Eén van de ex-topmensen van Facebook, Chamath Palihapitiya, stelde zelfs dat zijn kinderen niet op Facebook mogen……

De hysterie over Russische bemoeienis kent geen grenzen meer en zelfs de wil tot onafhankelijkheid van het Catalaanse volk en de Brexit worden Rusland in de schoenen geschoven. Rusland zou met name ‘sociale media’ als Facebook en Twitter gebruiken om het volk elders te manipuleren…… Waar Rusland bijvoorbeeld voor de VS verkiezingen ‘het enorme bedrag’ van 100.000 dollar zou hebben geïnvesteerd in reclames op Facebook voor wodka* enz……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Als je het totale bedrag ziet dat werd gebruikt voor de campagne t.b.v. de VS presidentsverkiezingen, is die 100.000 dollar een schijntje ‘dat nog niet een deuk in een pak boter kan slaan…..’

Dat bedrag voor die ‘Russische advertenties’, advertenties die de mensen bepaald niet opriepen tot revolutie, is het ‘enige bewijs’ dat aan Rusland (en niet aan de Russische regering) is te linken, hoe hard men ook schreeuwt dat er bergen bewijzen liggen, getoond worden ze niet!! ‘Vreemd genoeg’ is wel het tegendeel te bewijzen, dus VS manipulaties van een groot aantal zaken in landen waar de VS niets te zoeken heeft….. Sterker nog: de VS heeft via Wikileaks getoond dat het een enorm aantal ‘instrumenten’ heeft, waarmee men de schuld voor VS manipulaties in de schoenen kan schuiven van een andere regering….**

Hetzelfde wat betreft die ‘Russische advertenties’ geldt overigens voor Groot-Brittannië, waar voor het EU referendum (Brexit) een bedrag van minder dan 1 pond, zou zijn gebruikt voor die advertenties, aldus de fascist Farage. Het echte bedrag zal wel ‘iets hoger’ zijn geweest, maar deze overdrijving is wel degelijk gepast als je ziet hoeveel geld men in de campagne voor/tegen de Brexit heeft gestoken…….

Former
executives at Facebook are now coming out to condemn how the social
media giant is “destroying society and civil discourse” and
spreading “misinformation.” Moreover, they say, it’s got
nothing to do with Russia.

One
of the former Facebook gurus is Chamath Palihapitiya who told a
business conference in the US that he doesn’t even let his own
children use the social media platform, so harmful is it, in his
view.

Those
admissions should be seen as a welcome rational perspective to
counter the hysterical Western mainstream media discourse propagated
over the past year, which seeks to blame Russia for interfering in
elections and sowing discord in society – largely, it is claimed,
through manipulation of social media like Facebook.

the past year, it has become almost an article of faith among Western
governments, media and think tanks that Russian state agents used
Facebook and other social media to wage cyberwar. “Russia
is at war with us,”
say hawkish senators like John McCain.

The
biggest victory for the Russians, we are told, was the election of
Donald Trump to the White House.

Incredibly,
the Kremlin is accused of manipulating Facebook, Twitter, YouTube,
and so on, by placing adverts and posts to orchestrate public opinion
across entire Western societies. Never mind that the evidence for
this alleged nefarious scheme is tenuous at best, and never mind that
the money spent on ads supposedly placed by Russians is paltry
compared with the total revenues earned by social media companies.

Google’s
de-ranking of RT in search results is a form of censorship 

and
blatant propaganda

The
dearth of rational perspective in this narrative of “Russian
meddling”
is largely driven by Cold War-style stereotypical Russophobia. The
notion that Russian agents or “Kremlin-sponsored
news media”
could sway voters and societies completely misses the forest for the
trees. That is that Facebook and other mainly US-based social media
have already a preponderant influence on billions of people around
the world.

The
impact of such social media on societies and personal relations
is profound and inestimably huge. Yet, there is hardly a
proportionate debate on this insidious influence. The alleged
interference or manipulation by Russiam agents – a charge which the
Russian government has categorically rejected – is transformed into
a frenzied debate, when in reality the actual infringement is
negligible.

Contrast
that with the relative silence over the more plausible deleterious
impact of Facebook and other Western social media.

Chamath
Palihapitiya, a former vice president for user growth at Facebook who
left the company in 2011, told the
business conference that he felt “tremendous
guilt”
over his role in building the social media platform to its global
reach of two billion users.

Scathing
of the negative influence he believes now that Facebook is having on
society, communities, families, and individuals, he said bluntly: “I
don’t use that sh*t.”

Nor,
he says, does he allow his own children to join Facebook.

Why?
Because, according to Palihapitiya, Facebook is “ripping
the social fabric apart and how society works.”

The
former executive told the Stanford Business School event in the US:
“This
is not about Russian ads. This is a global problem. It is eroding the
core foundations of how people behave by and between each other.”

Did
you hear that? “This
is not about Russian ads.”

If
that’s not damning enough, the founding president of Facebook, Sean
Parker, has also recently come out to condemn
the
harmful impact of social media on society and on personal
interactions.

“

God
knows what it is doing to our children’s brains,”
he said.

Parker,
who is no longer with the company, said the social platform was
deliberately designed to exploit people, to turn users into addicts
to consume their time and thoughts. He referred to the “Like”
button as a device to induce “dopamine
hits”
– the natural happy hormone in humans.

This
profit-making abuse is something which he is not proud of now.
Indeed, the former president says he is using his wealth to help
discover cancer treatments.

Parker,
who made over $2 billion from developing Facebook, along with the
current CEO Mark Zuckerberg, said the social media platform was aimed
consciously at “exploiting
human vulnerability through social-validation feedback loops.”

The
pervasive influence of Facebook and other social media raises
troubling questions about the future of society, and social
communications and cohesion.

ultimatum to US tech giants

Sure,
it can be said the growth of global communications has got to be a
good thing in terms of fostering awareness, solidarity, and action
for change on a worldwide basis.

On
the downside though, the reverse is also true. Facebook and the like
can absorb billions of people into an artificial, atomized existence
where individuals end up being disempowered and feeling deeply
dissatisfied with their lives.

Contrary
to what advocates say, the scope for human interaction and social
change can become diminished to the point of atrophy and apathy.

Add
to this the enormous potential of Facebook being used to disseminate
information (propaganda) that promotes the US and other Western
governments’ political agendas.

Facebook,
Twitter and Google are openly engaging in censorship of alternative
media sources which have been fingered as “fake”
or “illegitimate.”
Fingered that is, by Western governments. Russian news media have
borne the brunt of this campaign to discredit and censor.

However,
the influence of US-based social media giants goes way beyond the
control of information that users of these networks are allowed to
access.

The
bigger picture is the harmful impact that these communication media
are having on the very fabric of society, on social relations, and
the way human beings associate and organize. And in particular, the
way humans organize to create political and social change.

Karl
Marx once sardonically deprecated organized religion as the “opium
of the people.”

Today,
the opium can be said to be Facebook and its ilk of paralyzing social
media. Just ask the founders.

Rusland heeft geoefend op een inval in Nederland aldus Bild-Zeitung…… OEI!!!

Het Duitse Bild-Zeitung, een soort van Telegrof in hoogste hysterie versnelling, maakte vandaag bekend dat Rusland 3 maanden geleden heeft geoefend op een inval in de Baltische Staten, Polen, Duitsland en…… Nederland! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Zal je meemaken, eet je je boterham pindakaas, zitten er Russische apennoten tussen de pindakaas, oh gruwel!!

Het bewijs dat Bild daarvoor aanvoerde: twee bronnen binnen een inlichtingendienst, aldus het Radio1 nieuws van 9.30 u…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ‘Een inlichtingendienst’, je weet wel, zo’n dienst die keer op keer terreurverdachten in het vizier heeft, maar niet kan voorkomen dat deze figuren een aanslag plegen…….

Overigens wat dat laatste betreft, blijft de grote vraag waarom deze ‘inlichtingendiensten’ (ordinaire geheime diensten, waar niets transparant is) nooit waarschuwen tegen het meedoen aan illegale oorlogen die de VS begint, daar deze grootschalige terreur, wat een illegale oorlog tegen een soeverein land in feite is, juist terreur op de Europese straten creëert!!

Op de NOS site valt verder te lezen, dat Rusland met de oefening Zapad (2017) inzet op de zwakke plekken in de NAVO defensie, aldus Bild en haar geheime bron…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! De NAVO voert de ene grootschalige militaire oefening na de andere langs de Russische grens en heeft daar dus enorme aantallen militairen en militair materieel gestationeerd. Op de Oostzee zijn permanent grote aantallen NAVO marineschepen ‘gestationeerd’ en hetzelfde geldt voor de Zwarte Zee, ook deze schepen zijn vrijwel voortdurend bezig met oefeningen……

Dat laatste op plekken waar de NAVO volgens een in 1991 gesloten verdrag met Rusland (Gorbatsjov) niet mag zijn…… Plekken die bijvoorbeeld dicht bij de Russische hoofdstad Moskou liggen…… Daarnaast heeft de VS een ‘raketschild’ geplaatst op twee plekken langs die grens, iets dergelijks zou Rusland eens moeten proberen langs de VS grens met Mexico dat nog op een enorme afstand ligt van Washington…….

Nog eens ter verduidelijking: die raketten van het ‘raketschild’, kunnen in een mum van tijd worden uitgerust met kernkoppen, waarna ze als aanvalsraketten kunnen worden gebruikt en je kan er gif op innemen dat die kernkoppen al op die raketten zijn bevestigd…….

Je snapt natuurlijk wel, dat deze NAVO oefeningen, ook met grote aantallen militaire vliegtuigen, ‘erop gericht zijn om een Russische aanval af te slaan’, althans dat wil men je laten geloven, terwijl de VS en Groot-Brittannie al in 2016 hebben gesteld een (eerste) aanval, ofwel een illegale oorlog, met kernwapens tegen ‘een vijand’ niet uit te sluiten…. ‘Een vijand’, ofwel Rusland!!

Ook wordt Rusland verweten geen internationale waarnemers te hebben toegelaten tot de militaire oefening ‘Zapad 2017’, een oefening die door Bild en de NOS wordt afgeschilderd als een oefening ‘tegen terreur’, terwijl men dondersgoed weet, dat een militaire aanval op een soeverein land als Rusland, zo ongeveer de grootste vorm van terreur is……. Geen internationale waarnemers? Waarom zou Rusland die nog toelaten, terwijl bij de meeste oefeningen langs de Russische grens, sinds een paar jaar geen of zelden Russische waarnemers worden toegelaten??!!!

Tot slot stellen Bild en de NOS dat er bij de Russische oefening 100.000 militairen betrokken waren, terwijl dit er volgens Rusland 13.000 waren. Eerder stelde de NAVO dat er bij de Russische oefening geen 13.000, maar rond de 15.000 militairen betrokken waren (voor wat de woorden van de NAVO waard zijn, het liegen zit ze daar in het bloed). Een behoorlijk verschil toch, 15.000 of 100.000!!

Ongelofelijk dat de NOS een dergelijk rammelend bericht, gebaseerd op een uiterst twijfelachtige bron (NB nog anoniem ook) zonder enig commentaar overneemt, te gek voor woorden! Dacht dat de NOS een onafhankelijk mediaorgaan was…… (nu loop ik te jokken, immers op deze plek is met feiten al in overvloed bericht over de uiterst afhankelijke, gekleurde berichtgeving van de NOS)

Benieuwd hoe hysterisch men verder op dit bericht zal reageren in de reguliere Nederlandse media en de rest van de westerse massamedia…….

Heb aan de labels direct onder dit bericht, twee keer NOS toegevoegd, daar er  meer berichten zijn met het label ‘NOS’ dan met het label ‘NOS nieuws’, waar in beide gevallen meestal wordt geschreven over de gekleurde berichtgeving van de NOS.

NAVO heeft zware kritiek op stationering Russische raketten……… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

WDR 5 (radio) meldde vanmiddag rond 13.48 u. dat de Noord-Atlantische Raad (of: North Atlantic Counsil >> NAC) van de NAVO een grote bek heeft opgezet over de Russische stationering van raketten aan de westelijke grens met de EU…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Wat een smerig hypocriet zootje, immers de VS heeft een raketschild geïnstalleerd aan de andere kant van diezelfde grens, een raketschild dat raketten ‘uit Iran’ moet tegenhouden (ha! ha! ha!), echter de raketten van dit schild kunnen in een mum van tijd worden voorzien van kernkoppen waarna de VS ze kan inzetten tegen Rusland en dat zoals gezegd, vlak langs de grens met dat land…….. (iets dergelijks zou Moskou moeten proberen aan de Mexicaanse kant van de grens met de VS, de wereld zou te klein zijn….)

Dat laatste stak de NAVO, nee niet dat de VS die raketten al lang heeft geplaatst, maar dat de Russische raketten, zoals die van de VS, in een mum van tijd kunnen worden voorzien van kernkoppen!!

Denkt men dan werkelijk dat de hele EU zit ter slapen?? Schoftentuig, een ander woord kan daarvoor niet gevonden worden voor dit geteisem…. Uiteraard zaait de NAVO hiermee angst voor en haat tegen Rusland bij de bevolking van de EU…….

De schoften hadden het gore lef om het ABM-verdrag*  erbij te slepen, terwijl men de eerdere bezwaren van Rusland (met dit verdrag in de hand), tegen het VS raketschild van tafel veegde als niet ter zake doende………

Ongelofelijk dat WDR 5 dit oplepelde zonder ook maar één opmerking over het raketschild van de VS te maken…. Ach ja, WDR 5 maakt deel uit van de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en daar liegt en verdraait men zaken sneller, dan een vogel wegvliegt voor een opgemerkte kat…..

* Het ABM-verdrag, is een verdrag om het aantal ballistische raketten van de VS en Rusland te beperken, een verdrag dat 45 jaar geleden werd getekend op 26 mei 1972 en dat door de VS ten grave werd gedragen….. (dat laatste, over het ten grave dragen van dit verdrag: op 26 januari 2018 toegevoegd)

Netneutraliteit VS dreigt te verdwijnen……….

In de VS staat het internetland op de kop, dit vanwege de te verwachten opheffing van de netneutraliteit aldaar. Het gaat daarbij niet alleen om de vraag of providers bepaalde soorten internetverkeer met voorrang dan wel met vertraging mogen behandelen, maar waar deze providers zelfs bepaalde sites kunnen blokkeren. Gezien het feit dat sites als Facebook en zoekmachine Google in de Engelse versies al voorrang geven aan de reguliere (massa-) media, boven de alternatieve media, doet het ergste vrezen….

Vergeet niet dat juist die reguliere media bekend staan om het brengen van ‘fake news’ (of: ‘nepnieuws’), neem de verslaggeving vooraf en tijdens de illegale oorlogen die de VS (met steun van NAVO partners als Nederland) alleen deze eeuw al voerde (en nog voert, neem Afghanistan en Irak)……..

Kortom, het opheffen van de netneutraliteit is een ramp voor echte onafhankelijke berichtgeving……

Het zal je niet verwonderen dat met het al getekende CETA vrijhandelsverdrag en het nog te tekenen TTIP verdrag, ook wij netneutraliteit zullen verliezen, al moet ik toegeven dat dit waarschijnlijk niet eens nodig is. Immers de EU holt graag achter de VS aan, als het om deze zaken gaat en de afzonderlijke EU partners zijn de alternatieve media al lang meer dan zat, daar ze keer op keer smerig beleid aan de paal nagelen……….

websites and social media platforms are teaming up for an “epic”
online demonstration to show what the web would look like without net
neutrality.

addition to making their voices heard in
the streets,
net neutrality defenders have planned a massive online demonstration
this week ahead of the FCC’s scheduled
vote on
chairman Ajit Pai’s deeply
unpopular plan
to kill the open internet, which critics have denounced as “naked
corporatism.”

FCC is days away from voting to kill net neutrality, but Congress can
still stop them. On December 12th we’ll #BreakTheInternet to stop

Slated
to begin Tuesday—and continue through to the scheduled vote by the
Republican-controlled FCC on Thursday—the “Break
the Internet”
protest is aimed at showing “the world what the web will look like
without net neutrality.”

The
demonstrations will vary widely, depending on the platform. “Facebook
and LinkedIn users will

‘break’
their profiles by changing their relationship status to ‘Married’
(to net neutrality) or adding a new ‘job’ of ‘Defending Net
Neutrality,’” Fight for the Future noted in
a press release on Monday. “Websites and apps will participate by
doing something to ‘break’ their platform and encourage their
users to contact Congress.”

Many
major websites have been working in conjunction with activists to
drive calls to Congress since the day Pai unveiled his
plan to eliminate net neutrality rules just before Thanksgiving.
According to Battle
for the Net,
over 833,000 calls have been made since November 21.

Last
week, internet users flooded
the front page of
Reddit with posts shaming their representatives for selling out to
the telecom industry—and applauding those who have stood firm in
their support for net neutrality.

More
of the same is expected on Tuesday, as websites large and small will
use their platforms to mobilize further opposition to Pai’s attack
on net neutrality with a variety of tools—from simple banners
warning that the “FCC is about to vote to kill net neutrality” to
video bumpers demonstrating “the kind of power that giant cable
companies will have over us if we let the FCC end net neutrality
rules.”

Individual
supporters of net neutrality have also been encouraged to participate
by flooding congressional phone lines and using their platforms on
Facebook, Twitter, and sites to raise alarm about the devastating
consequences Pai’s proposals will have on the web.

Using
the hashtag #BreaktheInternet, many have taken to Twitter to promote
the upcoming demonstration and encourage others to take part.
