RT, waarom de heersende macht en de massamedia dit media orgaan vrezen en haten……..

Gisteren bracht Information Clearing House een artikel dat eerder door theDuran werd gepubliceerd. Adam Garrie betoogt hierin dat RT geen propaganda orgaan is van Rusland, zoals u sinds enige tijd bijna dagelijks wordt voorgehouden. Het is dan ook niet de bedoeling, dat de gewone bevolking twijfelt aan de leugens die de westerse politici en reguliere westerse media hen dagelijks voorhouden……

RT houdt zich duidelijk niet aan de stilzwijgende afspraak binnen de reguliere (massa-) media (voor het overgrote deel in handen van grote bedrijven en/of miljardairs), de uiterst agressieve VS buitenlandpolitiek te verdedigen en het overheersende ijskoude, inhumane neoliberalisme uit te dragen.

Zoals betoogd, in onderstaand artikel: RT brengt geen onversneden Russische propaganda, als RT dit wel zou doen, zouden er bij lange na niet zoveel mensen zijn, die deze zender volgen. RT brengt feitelijk nieuws en zoals eerder op deze plek betoogd, ik heb RT tot nu toe niet kunnen betrappen op het brengen van ‘nepnieuws’, zoals de reguliere westerse media organen deze keer op keer brengen, neem de smerige berichtgeving over Oost-Aleppo…….

Nieuwsorganen als RT brengen hoop voor de honderden miljoenen mensen, die wereldwijd middels oorlogen en keihard neoliberalisme tot de verstotenen op ons aller aarde zijn gaan behoren….. Dat is dan ook het ‘grote gevaar’ voor de huidige machthebbers en de reguliere (massa-) media, die de bevolking voorliegen dat oorlogen en arbeidshervormingen noodzakelijk zijn….. Noodzakelijk respectievelijk voor het brengen van democratie (lees: het overnemen van de macht over grondstoffen, dan wel strategische belangrijke plekken) en voor ‘de noodzakelijke economische groei’ (een groei die uiteraard helemaal niet noodzakelijk is….).

Zoals gezegd, dit is een artikel van theDuran, dus helaas zonder mogelijkheid tot vertaling, die u overigens wel middels uw besturingssysteem kan aanmaken.

Here’s

RT
has given a voice to patriotic Americans who have been isolated from
events in their own political system due to an establishment that
relied on mainstream media to shut them up.

James
Clapper, the US Director of National Intelligence, on the basis of
his comments
to the Senate committee on Thursday about RT,
would appear to agree with Alex Jones in thinking ‘there’s a war
on for your mind’.

 I happen to disagree. I think there’s a race to the bottom, in order to see how much the American deep state and Congressional supporters of Obama’s neo-liberal ideology can condescend to ordinary Americans.

The truth behind the ‘media wars’ is far less exotic, let alone dramatic than the powers that be would like people to believe.

In business there is something known as the 80/20 Rule which states that 80% of all effects stem from 20% of all causal occurrences. When applied to retail it can mean that 80% of all revenue comes from 20% of one’s customer base. It can also mean that 80% of sales are derived from 20% of one’s inventory.

In media, one can apply this rule in the following ways: 80% of a media outlet’s viewership comes from 20% of a population who broadly agree with the editorial line of the outlet in question. Indeed, most viewers of media tune in and turn on to hear recent facts (and in some cases fake facts) which help to bolster their inherent views of the world. Clinton voters will watch CNN for reassurance, anti-Zionists will do with same with Press-TV, and neo-liberal globalists will put on BBC World.

RT isn’t an exception here. If someone broadly questions the globalist agenda and the militarist/interventionist narrative of the west, he or she will find many analysts on RT whose views correspond with their own.

There is however one big league exception. Prior to the launch of RT, there was no large media outlet broadcasting in the West which offered a critical view of the mainstream, establishment narrative. Whilst CNN and Fox bickered over hair-splitting interpretations of the ‘West is best’ agenda, no one offered a real opposing view.

RT has changed that. RT doesn’t have an anti-America view as Mr. Clapper implied. RT simply offers people in America and around the world an opportunity to question whether the establishment’s view of how America should rule the world actually makes the lives of ordinary Americans better or worse.

Increasingly those who feel that globalism, neo-liberalism and constant war are making their lives worse do things like watch RT and vote for Donald Trump. It is not a cause, it is an effect.

Few media outlets change minds but they do have the ability to give a voice to those which already exist. Globalists, liberals and war-hawks have had a voice in the American media market for decades. But unless one went to a local book-club where Pat Buchannan was giving a talk to a room of 80 people those opposed to the post-Cold War globalist hegemony of the US elite had no voice. RT has given them one, and the open contempt of those in the establishment, upset with RT for giving a voice to the voiceless, is staggering.

The tale told by the likes of Clapper and John Kerry before him isn’t one of a propaganda war. Ordinary people are not as stupid as many in the establishment would like to think. If RT was as propagandistic as they say, no one would watch it.  Instead millions do watch it, some for reassurance and others to find out new perspectives so they can ‘question more’.

Perhaps many in the establishment are as shocked that they have as much patriotic American opposition as they have. The millions of Americans who watch RT however aren’t semi-retired KGB agents; they are patriotic, thinking, concerned Americans, many of whom are middle-aged and remember the Cold War well.

And this is what frightens the likes of Clapper, McCain and Kerry. They thought that they could keep a lid on home grown all-American moderate opposition with a little help from their good friends in the mainstream media. But now they can’t.

What does it say about modern America that it took a station founded in Moscow to ignite the spirit of America’s First Amendment and ‘make free speech great again’?

For the record, I have appeared on RT many times and have never been told what to say nor how to say it. I wouldn’t have it any other way and I’m happy that the people at RT feel the same.

Opvallend vindt u ‘ook niet?’ In de roep om het aanpakken van ‘nepnieuws’ (of ‘fake news’, wat u wilt), wordt steeds vaker gerept bepaalde sites maar te blokkeren. Dit op basis van de verkiezingen in de VS, eerst met gelul dat bloggers e.a. de boel hadden opgehitst tegen Clinton (ha! ha! dat had en heeft ze helemaal niet nodig!), kwam vorig jaar al redelijk snel het verhaal, dat de Russen zich middels hacks hadden bemoeid, met bijvoorbeeld de democratische nominaties voor de presidentsverkiezingen (waarom toen niet meteen actie ondernomen??!!!)…..*

Later werd hetzelfde gezegd over de presidentsverkiezingen….** De Russen zouden e-mails van Clinton hebben gelekt, daar is geen ander bewijs voor, dan de geheime diensten, die zeggen dat e.e.a. zo is….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Dit zijn trouwens dezelfde geheime diensten (CIA en NSA), die ‘de bewijzen’ leverden voor de massavernietigingswapens van Saddam Hoessein, wat resulteerde in de VS massamoord op 1,5 miljoen Irakezen…….. Terug naar de e-mails en andere leugens, met andere woorden: Obama stuurde op grond van horen zeggen 35 Russische diplomaten naar huis…… Rekent u maar, dat u de harde bewijzen onder ogen zou krijgen, als ze zouden bestaan……..

Daarnaast zouden bepaalde groepen met ‘nepnieuws’ de bevolking van de VS hebben opgezet tegen Clinton. Dit terwijl de reguliere (massa-) media in de VS dag in dag uit, aantoonbaar het volk bestoken met leugens en bedrog, nog sterker als het om het buitenlandbeleid van de VS gaat……

(Alweer) op basis van deze zaken roept men zo ongeveer in het hele westen, dat ‘nepnieuws sites’ geblokkeerd moeten worden. Daarbij noemt men o.a. RT en Sputnik, die zouden door Rusland betaald worden om de westerse bevolking op te zetten tegen de afzonderlijke eigen regeringen en de VS in het bijzonder. Men stelt domweg dat RT en Sputnik propaganda brengen. Propaganda is gebaseerd op leugens, dat geschreven hebbende, zou ik wel eens een bericht van RT willen zien, dat niet gebaseerd was op feiten, neem bijvoorbeeld de strijd om Aleppo!!

Het is dan ook duidelijk: men wil in het westen af van alle kritiek op zowel binnenland-, als buitenlandgebied. Men heeft eindelijk de reguliere massamedia in handen en elk verzet daartegen wordt als laster en leugens betiteld…..  Het maakt over actuele onderwerpen als Aleppo niet meer uit wat je leest, de Telegrof, de Volkskrant, of de NRC, één grote vuilbak aan smerige propaganda…….. Daarom zal men proberen de alternatieve ‘nieuwssites’, bloggers e.a. de komende jaren de mond te snoeren, het is niet de bedoeling dat u de waarheid te weten komt, dat is maar lastig, daar de politici zich dan moeten verantwoorden voor hun valse getuigenissen en kwaadaardige, belastinggeld verslindende neoliberale politiek!!!

Vreemd genoeg worden dezelfde soort argumenten gebruikt door landen, die al lang delen van het internet hebben geblokkeerd, zoals Turkije, Egypte, Saoedi-Arabie en China……….. Op weg naar 1984 zullen we maar denken……..

Toen ik dit bericht gistermiddag zat te schrijven, was Menno Bentveld op BNR te horen, die een reis had gemaakt van Oekraïne naar Rusland. Deze zogenaamd groene presentator van Vroege Vogels***, reist het liefs het jaarrond over de wereld, zo presenteert hij ook het programma ‘De Muur’. Er zijn bijna honderd muren over de wereld, aldus Bentveld, die hiermee fysieke afscheidingen bedoelt, waarmee mensen binnen de grenzen moeten worden gehouden en/of buitenlandse agressors of vluchtelingen moeten worden buitengehouden……..

De teneur in de komende aflevering van ‘De Muur’ is, dat de opstandelingen fout zitten, u weet wel de opstandelingen in Oost-Oekraïne die volkomen terecht tegen de coup waren, waarmee hun democratisch gekozen president werd afgezet. Zij weigeren terecht, als de mensen op De Krim, te leven onder het fascistische bewind, van de zwaar corrupte grofgraaier en misdadiger Porosjenko…….. Dit terwijl Bentveld stelde: “Het is interessant om beide zijden te horen……” ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

De Russen waren uiteraard dubbelfout, Bentveld beschreef de ‘ellende’ om Rusland binnen te komen en deed nog heldhaftig, daar hij niet de naam had genoemd van de degene die hen begeleid had naar de grens (‘een fixer’, aldus Bentveld… ha! ha!). Hij zei het nog net niet, maar het had niet veel gescheeld, of de Russen hadden hem gemarteld!!! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Zo te horen was Bentveld niet eens in Oost-Oekraïne geweest, immers er bestaan goede banden tussen de drie republiekjes in Oost-Oekraïne en Rusland, geen reden dus voor de Russen te vragen naar de naam van ‘de fixer’ (overigens een benaming die wordt gebruikt voor mensen die oorlogscorrespondenten door oorlogsgebied loodsen…..).

Blufkont Bentveld vergat wel even, dat wanneer ‘omgekeerd evenredig’ de reguliere media in het westen, alleen maar negatief zouden schrijven over de VS, hij dat land niet eens binnen zou komen!!

De verhalen mensen: dit passeerde in de ‘The Friday Move’ op BNR, waar ook Raymann aanwezig was. Verhalen over groene mannetjes die plotseling heel De Krim hadden overgenomen……. Raymann begon over parachutisten (Russische), maar toen werd het zelfs Bentveld teveel en ging men daar maar niet verder op in……

Hufter Bentveld zou eens naar De Krim moeten gaan en daar met mensen op straat spreken!! U begrijpt natuurlijk wel, dat het door internationale waarnemers goedgekeurde referendum voor aansluiting van De Krim bij Rusland, niet eens ter sprake kwam (al moet ik zeggen, dat ik kort daarop overschakelde naar BBC World Service).

Met dit soort programma’s gebaseerd op leugens en bedrog’, ook middels uiterst eenzijdige berichtgeving, wordt de westerse bevolking een rad voor de ogen gedraaid, dit om steun te vergaren voor de terreur van de VS (met de NAVO aan de hand) in het buitenland…….. Elke kritiek op dit soort programma’s (of berichtgeving op andere media) moet in de kiem gesmoord worden, het publiek heeft nu eenmaal geen recht op de waarheid, dat is veel te lastig………… De ‘nieuwste’ term die gebruikt wordt voor alternatieve media, die wel berichten hoe de vork in de steel steekt, is ‘nepnieuws……’

Nogmaals: 1984 wordt vervolmaakt…….

* Moet u nagaan: juist de democraten zelf manipuleerden deze nominaties dermate, dat kandidaat Bernie Sanders verloor en hare kwaadaardigheid Clinton won!!

** Vreemd eerder werd vorig jaar beweerd, dat de Russen zich met de verkiezingen bemoeiden. Waarom werd toen niet ogenblikkelijk de hele computerinfrastructuur van de VS overheid gescand op gaten in de beveiliging???

*** Toen Bentveld al een paar jaar presentator was van Vroege Vogels, wist hij niet, dat auto’s met een te lage bandenspanning, veel meer brandstof gebruiken…… In 2015 had deze grofgraai flapdrol het gore lef om reclame te maken voor het eten van afgeschoten ganzen en dat in Vroege Vogels!!

Aleppo, de wraak van de VS: oorlog aan de alternatieve media, leve de staatspropaganda….!!

Nadat de Obama regering Rusland heeft beschuldigd van het hacken van de verkiezingen, waar het overigens geen nanometer bewijs voor heeft, is het nu de beurt aan de alternatieve media…… De VS zag met lede ogen de val van Aleppo (wat betreft het verslaan van de door deze terreurentiteit gesteunde ‘gematigde’ terroristen) en geeft daarvoor nu ook de schuld aan de alternatieve media…….

De alternatieve media die niet braaf de door de VS aangeleverde leugenpropaganda herhaalden, maar met feiten aantoonden, dat de VS keer op keer heeft gelogen inzake Syrië!! Sterker nog, dat de VS de aanstichter is van de oorlog in Syrië, die intussen aan meer dan 700.000 mensen het leven heeft gekost…….

Het beschuldigen van de media, is een herhaling van zetten: toen het duidelijk werd, dat de VS de oorlog in Vietnam had verloren, waren het vooral de media ‘die voor het verlies hadden gezorgd……’ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

War Against Alternative Information

The
U.S. government is creating a new $160 million bureaucracy to shut
down information that doesn’t conform to U.S. propaganda
narratives, building on the strategy that sold the bloody Syrian
“regime change”

– The U.S. establishment is not content simply to have domination
over the media narratives on critical foreign policy issues, such as
Syria, Ukraine and Russia. It wants total domination. Thus we now
have the “Countering
Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act” that President Obama
signed into law on Dec. 23 as part of theNational
Defense Authorization Act for 2017 (NDAA), setting aside $160 million to
combat any “propaganda” that challenges Official Washington’s
version of reality.

The
new law mandates the U.S. Secretary of State to collaborate with the
Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence and other
federal agencies to create a Global Engagement Center “to lead,
synchronize, and coordinate efforts of the Federal Government to
recognize, understand, expose, and counter foreign state and
non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining
United States national security interests.” The law directs the
Center to be formed in 180 days and to share expertise among agencies
and to “coordinate with allied nations.”

The
legislation was initiated in March 2016, as the demonization of
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia was already underway and
was enacted amid the allegations of “Russian hacking” around the
U.S. presidential election and the mainstream media’s furor over
supposedly “fake news.” Defeated Democratic presidential nominee
Hillary Clinton voiced strong support for the bill: “It’s
imperative that leaders in both the private sector and the public
sector step up to protect our democracy, and innocent lives.”

The
new law is remarkable for a number of reasons, not the least because
it merges a
new McCarthyism about purported dissemination of Russian
“propaganda” on the Internet with a
new Orwellianism by creating a kind of Ministry of Truth –
or Global Engagement Center – to protect the American people from
“foreign propaganda and disinformation.”

As
part of the effort to detect and defeat these unwanted narratives,
the law authorizes the Center to: “Facilitate the use of a wide
range of technologies and techniques by sharing expertise among
Federal departments and agencies, seeking expertise from external
sources, and implementing best practices.” (This section is an
apparent reference to proposals that Google, Facebook and other
technology companies find ways to block or brand certain Internet
sites as purveyors
of “Russian propaganda” or “fake news.”)

Justifying
this new bureaucracy, the bill’s sponsors argued that the existing
agencies for “strategic
communications” and “public
diplomacy” were not enough, that the information threat
required “a whole-of-government approach leveraging all elements of
national power.”

The
law also is rife with irony since the U.S. government and related
agencies are among the world’s biggest purveyors of propaganda and
disinformation – or what you might call evidence-free claims, such
as the recent accusations of Russia hacking into Democratic emails to
“influence” the U.S. election.

Despite
these accusations — leaked by the Obama administration and embraced
as true by the mainstream U.S. news media — there is little
or no public evidence to support the charges. There is also
a contradictory analysis by
veteran U.S. intelligence professionals as well as statements
by Wikileaks
founder Julian Assange and an associate, former
British Ambassador Craig Murray, that the Russians were not the
source of the leaks. Yet, the mainstream U.S. media has virtually
ignored this counter-evidence, appearing eager to collaborate with
the new “Global Engagement Center” even before it is
officially formed.

Of
course, there is a long history of U.S. disinformation and
propaganda. Former CIA agents Philip Agee and John Stockwell
documented how it was done decades ago, secretly planting “black
propaganda” and covertly funding media outlets to influence events
around the world, with much of the fake news blowing back into the
American media.

In
more recent decades, the U.S. government has adopted an Internet-era
version of that formula with an emphasis on having the State
Department or the U.S.-funded National Endowment for Democracy
supply, train and pay “activists” and “citizen journalists”
to create and distribute propaganda and false stories via “social
media” and via contacts with the mainstream media. The U.S.
government’s strategy also seeks to undermine and discredit
journalists who challenge this orthodoxy. The new legislation
escalates this information war by tossing another $160 million into
the pot.

Propaganda
and Disinformation on Syria

Syria
is a good case study in the modern application of information
warfare. In her memoir Hard
Choices,
former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrote that the U.S.
provided “support for (Syrian) civilian opposition groups,
including satellite-linked computers, telephones, cameras, and
training for more than a thousand activists, students and independent
journalists.”

Indeed,
a huge amount of money has gone to “activists” and “civil
society” groups in Syria and other countries that have been
targeted for “regime change.” A lot of the money also goes to
parent organizations that are based in the United States and Europe,
so these efforts do not only support on-the-ground efforts to
undermine the targeted countries, but perhaps even more importantly,
the money influences and manipulates public opinion in the West.

In
North America, representatives from the Syrian “Local
Coordination Committees”(LCC) were frequent guests on popular
media programs such as “DemocracyNow.” The message was clear:
there is a “revolution” in Syria against a “brutal regime”
personified in Bashar al-Assad. It was not mentioned that the “Local
Coordination Committees” have been primarily funded by the West,
specifically the Office for Syrian Opposition Support, which was
founded by the U.S. State Department and the U.K. Foreign and
Commonwealth Office.

More
recently, news and analysis about Syria has been conveyed through the
filter of the White Helmets, also known as Syrian Civil Defense. In
the Western news media, the White Helmets are described as neutral,
non-partisan, civilian volunteers courageously carrying out rescue
work in the war zone. In fact, the group is none
of the above. It was initiated by the U.S. and U.K. using a
British military contractor and Brooklyn-based marketing company.

While
they may have performed some genuine rescue operations, the White
Helmets are primarily a media organization with a political goal: to
promote NATO intervention in Syria. (The manipulation of public
opinion using the White Helmets and promoted by the New York Times
and Avaaz petition for a “No Fly Zone” in Syria is
documentedhere.)

The
White Helmets hoax continues to be widely believed and receives
uncritical promotion though it has increasingly been exposed at
alternative media outlets as the creation of a “shady
PR firm.” During critical times in the conflict in Aleppo,
White Helmet individuals have been used as the source for important
news stories despite a track record of deception.

Recent
Propaganda: Blatant Lies?

As
the armed groups in east Aleppo recently lost ground and then
collapsed, Western governments and allied media went into a frenzy of
accusations against Syria and Russia based on reports from sources
connected with the armed opposition. CNN host Wolf Blitzer described
Aleppo as “falling” in a “slaughter of these women and
children” while CNN host Jake Tapper referred to “genocide by
another name.”

The
Daily Beast published the claims of the Aleppo Siege Media Center
under the title“Doomsday
is held in Aleppo” and amid accusations that the Syrian
army was executing civilians, burning them alive and “20 women
committed suicide in order not to be raped.” These sensational
claims were widely broadcast without verification. However, this
“news” on CNN and throughout Western media came from highly
biased sources and many of the claims – lacking anything
approaching independent corroboration – could be accurately
described as propaganda and disinformation.

Ironically,
some of the supposedly “Russian propaganda” sites, such as RT,
have provided first-hand on-the-ground reporting from the war zones
with verifiable information that contradicts the Western narrative
and thus has received almost no attention in the U.S. news media. For
instance, some of these non-Western outlets have shown videos of
popular celebrations over the “liberation of Aleppo.”

There
has been further corroboration of these realities from peace
activists, such as Jan Oberg of Transnational Foundation for Peace
and Future Research who published aphoto
essay of his eyewitness observations in Aleppo including the
happiness of civilians from east Aleppo reaching the
government-controlled areas of west Aleppo, finally freed from areas
that had been controlled by Al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate and its
jihadist allies in Ahrar al-Sham.

Dr.
Nabil Antaki, a medical doctor from Aleppo, described the liberation
of Aleppo in an interview titled “Aleppo
is Celebrating, Free from Terrorists, the Western Media
Misinformed.” The first Christmas celebrations in Aleppo
in four years are shown here,replete
with marching band members in Santa Claus outfits. Journalist Vanessa
Beeley has published testimonies of
civilians from east Aleppo. The happiness of civilians at their
liberation is clear.

Whether
or not you wish to accept these depictions of the reality in Aleppo,
at a minimum, they reflect another side of the story that you have
been denied while being persistently force-fed the version favored by
the U.S. State Department. The goal of the new Global Engagement
Center to counter “foreign propaganda” is to ensure that you
never get to hear this alternative narrative to the Western
propaganda line.

Even
much earlier, contrary to the Western mythology of rebel “liberated
zones,” there was strong evidence that the armed groups were never
popular in Aleppo. American journalist James Foley described the
situation in 2012 like this:

“Aleppo,
a city of about 3 million people, was once the financial heart of
Syria. As it continues to deteriorate, many civilians here are losing
patience with the increasingly violent and unrecognizable opposition
— one that is hampered by infighting and a lack of structure, and
deeply infiltrated by both foreign fighters and terrorist groups. The
rebels in Aleppo are predominantly from the countryside, further
alienating them from the urban crowd that once lived here peacefully,
in relative economic comfort and with little interference from the
authoritarian government of President Bashar al-Assad.”

On
Nov. 22, 2012, Foley was kidnapped in northwestern Syria and held by

The
Overall Narrative on Syria

Analysis
of the Syrian conflict boils down to two competing narratives. One
narrative is that the conflict is a fight for freedom and democracy
against a brutal regime, a storyline promoted in the West and the
Gulf states, which have been fueling
the conflict from the start. This narrative is also favored by
some self-styled “anti-imperialists” who want a “Syrian
revolution.”

The
other narrative is that the conflict is essentially a war of
aggression against a sovereign state, with the aggressors including
NATO countries, Gulf monarchies, Israel and Jordan. Domination of the
Western media by these powerful interests is so thorough that one
almost never gets access to this second narrative, which is
essentially banned from not only the mainstream but also much of the
liberal and progressive media.

For
example, listeners and viewers of the generally progressive TV and
radio program “DemocracyNow” have rarely if ever heard the second
narrative described in any detail. Instead, the program frequently
broadcasts the statements of Hillary Clinton, U.S. Ambassador to the
United Nations Samantha Power and others associated with the U.S.
position. Rarely do you hear the viewpoint of the Syrian Ambassador
to the United Nations, the Syrian Foreign Minister or analysts inside
Syria and around the world who have written about and follow events
there closely.

“DemocracyNow”
also has done repeated interviews with proponents of the “Syrian
revolution” while ignoring analysts who call the conflict a war of
aggression sponsored by the West and the Gulf monarchies. This
blackout of the second narrative continues despite the fact that many
prominent international figures see it as such. For example, the
former Foreign Minister of Nicaragua and former President of the UN
General Assembly, Father Miguel D’Escoto, has said, “What the
U.S. government is doing in Syria is tantamount to a war of
aggression, which, according to the Nuremberg Tribunal, is the worst
possible crime a State can commit against another State.”

In
many areas of politics, “DemocracyNow” is excellent and
challenges mainstream media. However in this area, coverage of the
Syrian conflict, the broadcast is biased, one-sided and echoes the
news and analysis of mainstream Western corporate media, showing the
extent of control over foreign policy news that already exists in the
United States and Europe.



Suppressing
and Censoring Challenges

Despite
the widespread censorship of alternative analyses on Syria and other
foreign hotspots that already exists in the West, the U.S.
government’s new “Global Engagement Center” will seek to ensure
that the censorship is even more complete with its goal to “counter
foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation.” We can
expect even more aggressive and better-financed assaults on the few
voices daring to challenge the West’s “group thinks” – smear
campaigns that are already quite extensive.

In
an article titled “Controlling
the Narrative on Syria”, Louis Allday describes the criticisms
and attacks on journalists Rania Khalek and Max Blumenthal for
straying from the “approved” Western narrative on Syria. Some of
the bullying and abuse has come from precisely those people, such as
Robin Yassin-Kassab, who have been frequent guests in liberal Western
media.

Reporters
who have returned from Syria with accounts that challenge the
propaganda themes that have permeated the Western media also have
come under attack. For instance, Canadian journalist Eva Bartlett
recently returned to North America after being in Syria and Aleppo,
conveying a very different image and critical of the West’s biased
media coverage. Bartlett appeared at a United Nations press
conference and then did numerous interviews across the
country during a speaking tour. During the course of her talks and
presentation, Bartlett criticized the White Helmets and questioned
whether it was true that Al Quds Hospital in opposition-held East
Aleppo was attacked and destroyed as claimed.

Bartlett’s
recounting of this information made her a target of Snopes, which has
been a mostly useful website exposing urban legends and false rumors
but has come under criticism itself for some internal challenges and
has been inconsistent in its investigations. In one report entitled
“White
Helmet Hearsay,” Snopes’ writer Bethania Palmer says
claims the White Helmets are “linked to terrorists” is
“unproven,” but she overlooks numerous videos,
photos, and other reports showing White Helmet members celebrating a
Nusra/Al Qaeda battle victory, picking up the bodies of civilians
executed by a Nusra executioner, and having a member who
alternatively appears as a rebel/terrorist fighter with a weapon and
later wearing a White Helmet uniform. The “fact check” barely
scrapes the surface of public evidence.

The
same writer did another shallow “investigation” titled “victim
blaming” regarding Bartlett’s critique of White Helmet
videos and what happened at the Al Quds Hospital in Aleppo. Bartlett
suggests that some White Helmet videos may be fabricated and may
feature the same child at different times, i.e., photographs that
appear to show the same girl being rescued by White Helmet workers at
different places and times. While it is uncertain whether this
is the same girl, the similarity is clear. 

The
Snopes writer goes on to criticize Bartlett for her comments about
the reported bombing of Al Quds Hospital in east Aleppo in April
2016. A statement at the websiteof
Doctors Without Borders says the building was “destroyed and
reduced to rubble,” but this was clearly false since photos show
the building with unclear damage. Five months later, the September
2016 report by
Doctors Without Borders says the top two floors of the building were
destroyed and the ground floor Emergency Room damaged yet they
re-opened in two weeks.

The
many inconsistencies and contradictions in the statements of Doctors
Without Borders resulted in an open
letter to them. In their last report, Doctors Without
Borders (known by its French initials, MSF) acknowledges that “MSF
staff did not directly witness the attack and has not visited Al Quds
Hospital since 2014.”

Bartlett
referenced satellite images taken before and after the reported
attack on the hospital. The images do not show severe damage and it
is unclear whether or not there is any damage to the roof, the basis
for Bartlett’s statement. In the past week, independent journalists
have visited the scene of Al Quds Hospital and report that that the
top floors of the building are still there and damage is unclear.

The
Snopes’ investigation criticizing Bartlett was superficial and
ignored the broader issues of accuracy and integrity in the Western
media’s depiction of the Syrian conflict. Instead the article
appeared to be an effort to discredit the eyewitness observations and
analysis of a journalist who dared challenge the mainstream
narrative.

U.S.
propaganda and disinformation on Syria has been extremely effective
in misleading much of the American population. Thus, most Americans
are unaware how many billions of taxpayer dollars have been spent on
yet another “regime change” project. The propaganda campaign –
having learned from the successful demonizations of Iraq’s Saddam
Hussein, Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi and other targeted leaders – has
been so masterful regarding

Syria
that many liberal and progressive news outlets were pulled in. It has
been left to RT and some Internet outlets to challenge the U.S.
government and the mainstream media.

But
the U.S. government’s near total control of the message doesn’t
appear to be enough. Apparently even a few voices of dissent are a
few voices too many.

The
enactment of HR5181, “Countering Foreign Propaganda and
Disinformation,” suggests that the ruling powers seek to escalate
suppression of news and analyses that run counter to the official
narrative. Backed by a new infusion of $160 million, the plan is to
further squelch skeptical voices with operation for “countering”
and “refuting” what the U.S. government deems to be propaganda
and disinformation.

As
part of the $160 million package, funds can be used to hire or reward
“civil society groups, media content providers, nongovernmental
organizations, federally funded research and development centers,
private companies, or academic institutions.”

Among
the tasks that these private entities can be hired to perform is to
identify and investigate both print and online sources of news that
are deemed to be distributing “disinformation, misinformation, and
propaganda directed at the United States and its allies and
partners.”

In
other words, we are about to see an escalation of the information
war.

ICH bracht op 2 januari jl. het bericht, dat Santos de NAVO uitnodigt om in Colombia ‘de misdaad’ te bestrijden…….

Koenig, de schrijver van het artikel, betoogt dat president Santos van Colombia, ‘de vredesduif’*,  geen vrede met de FARC wenst, zoals gezegd de NAVO moet ‘de misdaad bestrijden’ in Colombia, ‘misdaad’ gepleegd door de FARC….. Moorden door rechtse doodseskaders op simpele boeren, moeten de FARC verleiden de wapens weer op te nemen…….. De NAVO naar Zuid-Amerika? Weg met dit uiterst agressieve bondgenootschap!

Overigens nogal vreemd, dat deze rechtse terreurgroepen in Colombia gewoon doorgaan met hun terreur tegen de arme bevolking, vooral buiten de steden….. Eén van de redenen zal zijn, dat deze doodseskaders voor een groot deel uit reguliere politieagenten en militairen van het Colombiaanse leger bestaan, waar deze doodseskaders worden gesteund door de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde: de VS……

Inviting
NATO to Fight “Organized Crime”, A Menace for Latin America

– Imagine, Mr.
Manuel Santos,
President of Colombia, Nobel Peace Laureate 2016, for achieving a
Peace Agreement with the FARC “rebels” (Fuerzas Armadas
Revolucionarias de Colombia – Revolutionary Armed Forces of
Colombia) – this same peace-loving Mr. Santos is inviting NATO to
his country to help fight “organized crime”. As TeleSUR reports,
this could jeopardize the recently signed (the ink is not yet dry)
Peace Agreement between the Government and FARC.

Within
the last few days, at least two leaders of ‘campesinos’ (peasant
farmers) were found killed. “False flag”, as usual, with real
people casualties? Provoking FARC to retaliate? – Which would be
the end of the peace agreement.

Frankly,
I never believed that the government was serious in negotiating
peace, ending one of the longest civil conflicts’, with the longest
peace negotiations in recent Latin American history. A four-year
peace process was supposed to end 52 years of the leftist FARC
militia fighting in defense of the rural poor, countering an elite of
the rich, mostly urban dweller and latifundios, against government
forces with support of the US military stationed in Colombia.  

Like
the Europeans, the Colombian Government is a sheer puppet of
Washington’s. Both Santos and his predecessor, Uribe, are CIA
handlers. Having peace with FARC would be against the interests of
the United States. So – what is the agreement all about? – It’s
propaganda: Giving war-wearied people an illusion, false hope, that
there is light at the end of the endless tunnel of assassinations and
abuse – enhanced by the politically highly astute Swedish /
Norwegian Nobel Committee. At the first sign of a FARC uprising, for
example in protest of the (false flag) campesino killings, the
agreement will be broken, and peace is what it was from the very
beginning – a farce – a
travesty to induce a new strategy for Latin America – bringing in
NATO.

To
disguise Washington’s role, President Santos is calling on NATO for
help.

Everybody
knows that NATO represents basically the US Pentagon with some token
input from Washington’s European stooges. But NATO’s involvement
in Colombia would have far wider implication than just fighting FARC,
or as Santos calls it euphemistically, ‘fighting organized crime’
which is a reference to fighting drug cartels and linking the ‘fight’
to the infamous and controversial US
Plan Colombia, the
direct cost of which has exceeded 10 billion dollars since 2000, when
it began. The total cost, including the destruction of
infrastructure, housing and livelihoods, as well as the lives of at
least 220 000 Colombians and close to six million people displaced,
with the related hardship and suffering, is uncountable.

Earlier
this year, The Guardian reported,

“Plan
Colombia has become a catch-all phrase for several different
strategies. It is most widely understood as a US aid package to
Colombia which has totaled about $10 billion since 2000. More
broadly, it was a joint US-Colombian strategy to strengthen the
military, state institutions and the economy.”

“There
is this idea that it is some vast orchestrated project, but Plan
Colombia doesn’t exist as such,” says Winifred Tate, author of
‘Drugs, Thugs and Diplomats’, a study of US policymaking in
Colombia. “Rather, it has been a series of programs whose emphasis
has expanded and recalibrated over the years”, she says.

In
fact, former Colombia President Andres Pastrana, under whom Plan
Colombia started, admitted to The Guardian that the strategy was a
turning point in the country’s decades-old war [against FARC].
“Before the Plan, security forces were on the defensive and on the
verge of military defeat [by FARC guerrillas].”

Despite
the Plan, coca production is higher today than in 2000, at the
beginning of the Plan and Colombia remains the world’s top coca and
cocaine producer. So, Plan Colombia has not worked. A “Strategy
Change” is in order. In comes NATO, a multi-country military force,
per se, to fight crime, kill farmers who do not ‘obey’ –
continuing the fight against FARC ‘rebels’ who defend the
peasants – and therefore break the highly deceptive Peace
Agreement. A condition for the Peace Agreement was complete
disarmament of FARC. In a new war, FARC would be extremely
disadvantaged, risking to be easily eviscerated by NATO.

What
is NATO? – NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is a US
led military force stationed in Europe.

It
was created in 1949 by the United States and included Canada and
several European countries. Its main official purpose was to defend
Europe from the imaginary enemy, the communist Soviet Union.
Implicitly it also meant that Europe wouldn’t need to build up its
own defense. Big Brother would take care of it with – yes, NATO.

The
only European leader with foresight and who saw through the sham, was
General Charles
De Gaulle. In
1966 he kicked NATO out of France. In 2009, 43 years later, French
President Sarkozy, also a known CIA agent, reintegrated France into
all structures of NATO.

At
the foundation of NATO, as today, the US had and has a phobia against
anything that has anything to do with socialism, let alone communism
– which was a major justification for the arms race that enhanced
the Cold War from the late 1950’s to 1991, when the Soviet Union
collapsed. The Cold War was mostly a propaganda hype to make believe
the Soviet Union, which historically never had expansionist
ambitions, was a threat to European sovereignty. The Cold War
justified an arms race that sustained a highly profitable war
industry.

When
the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the justification for NATO
effectively died. It had then 12 bases in Europe. The unilateral
promise by the allied forces, expressed by then German Foreign
Minister Genscher, was that NATO would not expand one meter to the
east. Today NATO has 28 members and more than 30 bases throughout
Europe, most of them clustering around the Russian borders, a threat
to Moscow. That’s shows the honesty of western promises. This
prolific character is typical for US-led military operations, in
particular NATO. With this historic background, NATO in Colombia
would be a real and present danger for all of Latin America. NATO, an
alliance of Atlantists, has no business in Colombia, let alone in
Latin America.

NATO
in Colombia had an earlier beginning. 

President
Juan Manuel Santos initiated the Colombia-NATO cooperation.
Negotiations between the former Colombian defense Minister, Juan
Carlos Pinzón, and NATO’s General
Philip Breedlove, then
NATO Commander in Europe, started in 2013 with the ‘benign’
purpose for Colombia to gain access to NATO’s “best practices in
professional standards, integrity and transparency, as well as
humanitarian operations.” Against obvious protests from Venezuela
to having NATO infiltrated in her neighboring country, President
Santos signed a “Cooperation Agreement” with NATO on 6 June 2013
in Brussels.

This
was the beginning of a covert alliance between a key Latin American
ally of Washington and NATO. Almost nobody noticed. Bringing NATO
troops to Colombia would not only be a first in Latin America, it
might wreak havoc among the non-aligned UNASUR nations, especially
among Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

NATO
in Colombia would be like a training ground for guerilla warfare,
something the transatlantic forces are not used to – but will have
to become familiar with in order to fulfill Washington’s plan to
gradually proliferate throughout South America, preventing any
attempts of left-wing uprisings. Once in strategically located
Colombia, NATO would spread like brush fire throughout the
Sub-Continent, being allowed by the neoliberal Latin American
Governments now being implanted by Washington to build countless
military bases. They would henceforth be called NATO bases. The
unpopular term, US bases, would be a thing of the past.

Latin
America, be aware and alert. Obama’s condescendingly calling Latin
America ‘Washington’s Backyard’, could become quickly a reality
with NATO in Colombia. As the famous late Uruguayan writer, Eduardo
Galeano, wisely said, “Once American troops are in your country,
you will never get rid of them.”

Berlijn, de kerstmarkt aanslag: wie trok er aan de touwen…..??

Eergisteren publiceerde Information Clearing House, het volgende artikel van Peter Koenig. Hij zet (wat mij betreft) terecht grote vraagtekens bij de aanslag op de kerstmarkt in Berlijn. Zoals u zo kan lezen, er zijn teveel vreemde ‘toevalligheden’, zoals we die bij eerdere aanslagen ook hebben gezien.

‘Vreemd genoeg’ overleeft geen van de daders de arrestatie na de aanslag. De grote reguliere media draaien braaf het verhaal af, dat de autoriteiten hen voorhoudt, daarvoor worden deze media dan ook betaald, door het relatief lage aantal eigenaren van deze grote reguliere: kranten, tijdschriften, tv en radiostations. Wat betreft de nationale radio en tv zenders is de link al helemaal simpel, wil men de baan behouden, zal men mee moeten doen, en zoveel mogelijk herkauwen, wat hen door de neoliberale overheid en het grote bedrijfsleven wordt voorgeschoteld….. Waar deze mediaorganen (ook de commerciële) zich niet alleen bezondigen aan het brengen van pure propaganda leugens (neem Aleppo), maar zich zelfs schuldig maken aan zelfcensuur……….

Berlin
– Another False Flag?

– 12
dead, about 40 injured, is the result of the latest terror attack in
Berlin, when on 19 December, a truck plouged into a Christmas market
at Berlin’s Bretscheideplatz, near the lush Kurfuerstendamm.

Is
it not a ‘déjà-vu’ of not even half a year ago, when in Nice,
France, on 14th July
a truck mowed down hordes of people celebrating Bastille Day?

In
Berlin, the first ‘culprit’ was a Pakistani who apparently
‘escaped’. When later he turned up and explained with proof his
innocence, they had to let him go. In the cabin of the truck they
also found a dead man of Polish origin. He couldn’t be accused,
since he was dead.

Then
the chase was stalled, until miraculously, about a day later, they
found in the truck identity papers of a Mr. Anis Amri (24) of
Tunisian citizenship beneath the driver’s seat.  As is usual
with these terrorists, they like to leave their ID cards behind. It
seems to be part of their strategy to be caught and killed.

Then,
once more there was a ‘suspect’, who could be chased, throughout
Europe.

At
three in the morning of December 23, again miraculously, Anis
Amri turned
up on a plaza in Milan, got allegedly into a confrontation with two
policemen, who claimed he pulled a gun, when one of them shot and
killed him. No witness, no proof.

Two
Italian policemen killed a young man, whom – they say – they
didn’t even have a clue who he might be. They became heroes,
literally overnight. Italy’s new PM, Paolo Gentiloni, thanked and
congratulated them; and so did Mme. Merkel and her Interior Minister,
Thomas de Maizière.

The
same pattern all over again.


DEAD
MAN CAN’T TALK.
It’s Paris (Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan); Nice; Brussels; Munich;
Orlando, Florida; San Bernardino, California …… all over again-
and again – and again.

The
‘plowing-through-a-celebrating-crowd’ is in many regards “a
carbon copy” of  the 14th July massacre in
Nice (see image below). At the end, the designated ‘Muslim’
terrorist was  killed. No witness. No testimony.

Questions
to be fully investigated: Were
the secret services, the core of which are the CIA, Mossad and MI6,
with the collaboration of Germany’s BND involved. Was it a false
flag?

Don’t
believe one minute that your respective governments didn’t and
don’t know what’s going on.

Who
are the real perpetrators?

The
real perpetrators are not Muslims. They are your own spineless puppet
governments, all of which (covertly) support the ISIS and al Qaeda.
They obey orders to demonize the Muslim faith and society.

That’s
what the west knows best – denigrating and discriminating, accusing
the innocent, to serve their purpose, sanctions for those who do not
submit.

In
reality, no change for the last 800-some years, colonizing,
exploiting, murdering the people of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Today’s
‘leaders’ are the descendants of the colonial era killers of
times past.  They form the core of our “western killer
civilization”.

These
western ‘leaders’ are mere puppets, because they have been put in
‘power’ by the the elusive elite, also called the “Deep State”
– the Deep State gone global.

Democracy
is dead. It’s become a useless defunct slogan. No so-called
election over the past decade or so, in the western world has been
democratic. They were all scams and manipulations of peoples’ minds
and wills.

And
if they didn’t conform to what the Washington masters and their
supreme masters needed, Plan B of ‘regime change’ kicked in.

They
have become experts of semi-clandestine ‘regime change’ through
parliamentary coups – i.e. Paraguay, Ukraine, Brazil, Greece,
Portugal, Spain and many others.

If
these eventually ‘elected’ western leaders (sic-sic), from Obama,
to Merkel, Hollande, May, Gentiloni – and the entire EU / OECD
clan, don’t behave, they are ‘cooked’, the target of political
destabilizaion. That’s the extent of impunity which drives this
hegemonic and criminal process towards the New World Order, or the
One World Order, led by the global finance and war industry.

The
finance clan, the lords of money, the Rothschilds, Rockefellers,
Morgans, et
al,
the FED, BIS (Bank for International Settlements, the secretive
central bank of all central banks) and Goldman Sachs, have to act
fast; otherwise they might lose the key instrument of their power –
the sham dollar pyramid economy – may fall apart, before they have
actually reached their goal – a world under constant chaos,
never-ending conflicts and wars.

A
world under which a small elite, enslaves the 99.99% of ‘Us, the
People’ — under ever worsening life conditions, unemployment,
misery, disease, privatized social services, all contributing to a
steady decline in life expectancy.

Among
their instruments is permanent chaos. Economic dislocation and social
crises.

Open
borders forced by trade lobbies and
WTO (World Trade Organization) will wipe out small farmers and
manufacturers in developing countries, thus eventually handing
monopolies to large, mostly US corporations, to the detriment of
already impoverished nations, whose vulnerability will be further
abused to extract their natural resources for a pittance, so they may
repay their IMF / World Bank imposed and leveraged debt.

Floods
of refugees from war zones to
industrialized wealthy countries, currently happening from the
war-torn Middle East to Europe, will disrupt the labor market, push
down wages, create massive unemployment. These are all tools towards
enslavement of populations. People who have to fend and fight for
daily food and often for sheer survival, have no energy or time to
take to the streets and protest. That’s the plan; already being
enacted. Just look at Greece.

What
does all that have to do with the Berlin massacre? –

Everything.
Berlin, like Paris, Brussels, Munich, Orlando… is just a cog in the
wheel of the monster’s drive towards full world hegemony.

Unexpected,
haphazard carnage and terror acts are spreading misery, poverty and
fear.

People
who are afraid will call for more police and military protection.

They
will voluntarily give up their human and civil rights for what they
hope will be more ‘protection’, being totally oblivious to the
fact that the very governments from whom they are seeking more
protection are those that commit these acts of treason and terror,
those who are behind the killings. The Anglo-american  controlled
presstitute mainstream media is in permanent brainwashing mode.
Unless you search the news and information for yourself on
alternative media, they will never tell you the truth, but their
lies, after lies, after more of the same lies will fabricate
the public
truth.

Peoples’
fear and absence of civil rights are easy steps towards increased
militarization of the west, already happening – look at France –
President (sic) Hollande was just able to extend the State of
Emergency through July 2017. [The Paris November 2015 terror attacks
played a key role in justifying the State of Emergency.]

The
goal is to include it into the French Constitution, basically putting
the French people under permanent actual or threat of Martial Law.
Others might follow – Germany, Italy – all those whose
constituents are ever warier of the EU and their ‘monopoly money’,
the euro, and who may seek EUREXIT. This would break the camel’s
back, so to speak, or at least put a wrench in the boundless
onslaught of the hegemon.

Peoples’
fear may also re-strengthen the faltering justification of NATO. The
fall of NATO must be halted. NATO is the Deep State’s warrior
flagship, the military fear- and war monger vis-à-vis Russia and
eventually China – the last vestiges to be conquered by the
self-styled almighty empire, the invisible elite that pretends to
rule the globe. Fortunately, they cannot stand up to the Russia-China
chess duo which is gradually outsmarting the west’s ostentatious
killer exploits.

Imagine,
your own spineless governments, following orders of the globalized
Deep State – in Berlin, Munich, Nice, Paris, Brussels, Orlando, and
an almost endless list of false flags.

How
can we respect our so-called leaders? They have zero esteem for us,
who are their bread-earners. They kill us, no hesitation, if it
pleases them and serves their purpose – and their greed.

In
the case of Berlin, is the German government complicit? Blaming
Muslims, finding a pre-identified victim, Mr. Anis Amri, who most
likely had no clue that he was framed.

In
Italy, the police catches him (or somebody who has been given the
pre-identified Tunisian victim’s name), they kill him – and,
bingo – case closed. Another fear-inflicting false flag was born
and concluded, advancing the bulldozer of empire’s destruction a
notch closer to Full
Spectrum Dominance.

The
MSM will do the rest – until the next fake exploit. Be prepared.
But this can happen only if we let our governments get away with it,
if we close our eyes to reality; if we keep believing the presstitute
media.

Marine commandant Verkerk bemoeit zich openlijk met de politiek!!

Alweer een staaltje onterechte bemoeienis met de politiek door een hoge officier, dit keer een hufter van de marine. Gistermiddag werd bekend gemaakt dat NAVO-commandant Rob Verkerk het gore lef had, zich met de Nederlandse politiek te bemoeien……….

Volgens Verkerk moet er veel meer geld naar de marine, daar hij met verouderd materiaal zou zitten en nog wat van dat gelul. De enorme klootzak, die zich in een democratie buiten de politiek dient te houden, had dan zelf moeten zorgen, dat er andere keuzes werden gemaakt en beter kunnen wachten met het bestellen van bijvoorbeeld nieuwe onderzeeërs………..*

Ook had hij moeten protesteren tegen de missie voor de Somalische kust tegen piraterij. Die piraterij werd o.a. uitgelokt door Frankrijk, daar voor de kust van Somalië al een aantal jaren (24/7 – 365 dagen per jaar) grote Franse vis-fabrieksschepen de wateren leegvissen, dit onder bescherming van Franse mariniers……

Dit leegvissen van de kustwateren is de directe oorzaak voor de Somalische piraterij!! Ondanks dat dit bekend is, heeft men hier niets tegen ondernomen, het is immers normaal dat het westen haar neokoloniale misdaden verdedigt met militair optreden………

Hufter Verkerk zou per direct op straat moeten worden geschopt, zonder recht op een uitkering, is hij nou helemaal besodemieterd!! We leven godverdomme in 2016 en niet in 1886! Zoals gezegd: in een ‘democratische samenleving’ dient een militair zich niet met politiek te bemoeien, dan wel te lobbyen bij de politiek, voor het militair-industrieel complex!!

De hoogste tijd ook, dat Nederland zich uit het uiterst agressieve NAVO verbond terugtrekt, deze oorlogshitsende terreurorganisatie, houdt  langs de Russische westgrens de ene grootschalige oefening na de andere…… Peperdure oefeningen, die uiteraard schreeuwen om een verhoging van de defensie uitgaven door de afzonderlijke lidstaten…….. Bovendien daagt de NAVO hiermee Rusland uit en het is niet ondenkbaar, dat de NAVO na een (uitgelokt) incident met Rusland, zal besluiten aan te vallen…….. Op dat moment zouden we wel eens in WOIII kunnen belanden……….

‘Ons’ nationale waterhoofd W.A. durfde het aan om in zijn kersttoespraak te zeggen dat het extreme, het nieuwe normaal lijkt te worden. Lullig genoeg is dat waar, echter niet op de manier, zoals hij dit bedoelde en het ‘extreme dat ik bedoel, wordt al als normaal gezien…..

Extremen als een beleid voeren waarbij 4 miljoen mensen in armoede werden gedreven (waaronder 600.000 kinderen), mensen die tegen-, op-, of onder de armoedegrens moeten leven en dat in ons puissant rijke land……….. Extremen als mensen die meerdere huizen hebben, terwijl bijstandsgezinnen, niet eens een waardeloos, niet geïsoleerd huurhuis kunnen betalen…. Extremen als de ene huurverhoging na de andere doorvoeren, waardoor koophuizen veelal zelfs goedkoper zijn dan huurhuizen, terwijl het onderhoud van die huurhuizen flut met peren is en de bewoners nog amper rechten hebben………

Extremen als welgestelden die voor bijna 20 miljard op jaarbasis de belastingontduiken…… Extremen als grote bedrijven, die hier de belasting in eigen land ontduiken, tegen tarieven waar de laagstbetaalden alleen van kunnen dromen, terwijl zij 37% belasting moeten betalen, betaalt een aantal bedrijven, na afspraken met de belastingdienst, vaak niet eens 15% belasting………

Extremen als topfiguren die strafvermindering krijgen, daar ze ‘in de media al genoeg zijn gestraft’, terwijl deze figuren wel een voorbeeldfunctie hadden, waardoor ze juist zwaardere straffen opgelegd zouden moeten krijgen…….. Neem ook de bestraffing van een bijstandsgerechtigde, als die een keer een meevaller van 50 euro had, vergeleken met het jaar in jaar uit gunstige beleid voor belastingontduikers……..

Extremen als de pogingen vanuit de regering, de rechtbank onbereikbaar te maken voor het klootjesvolk, daar de eigen bijdragen niet te betalen zijn en men de rechtsgang op andere manieren probeert te frustreren………..

Extremen als de barbaarse omgang met dieren in de intensieve veehouderij, waar alleen al in ons land, jaarlijks 500 miljoen (een ½ miljard!!!) dieren groot en door worden gemarteld……..

Extremen als het afbreken van de rechten die arbeiders met bloed, zweet en tranen hebben bevochten, loonslavernij is het nieuwe normaal, om met W.A. te spreken…….

Extremen als de reguliere mediaorganen, die i.p.v. onafhankelijke journalistiek bedrijven, het onmenselijke, neoliberale regeringsbeleid voor het merendeel onvoorwaardelijk steunen. Extremen door dezelfde media, waarbij men de leugens van de VS, de NAVO en andere oorlogshitsers blindelings overneemt en met het grootste gemak enorme leugens ophangt, neem de zwaar leugenachtige berichtgeving over Aleppo….

Extremen als nog steeds geen verbod op het maken van reclame voor de harddrug alcohol, een harddrug waar gemiddeld 12 mensen per dag aan overlijden….. Extremen als het verbod op paddo’s en het steeds verder aanpakken van het cannabisgebruik, terwijl daar nooit iemand aan is overleden, sterker de medische wetenschap komt er steeds meer achter, dat in voornoemde softdrugs, uitermate geschikte geneesmiddelen gevonden kunnen worden…….. Of de extreme hysterie als er een paar mensen aan XTC overlijden, gemiddeld 1 per jaar, terwijl er (nogmaals) 12 mensen per dag overlijden aan het gebruik van de harddrug alcohol………

Of wat dacht u van het extreme feit, dat men troep mag verkopen, zo slecht van kwaliteit, dat het product zelfs al na een paar keer gebruiken de geest geeft, maar waar geld terug niet tot de mogelijkheid hoort…….

Extremen als (gigantische) verhogingen van de uitkering voor het koningshuis sinds 2008, terwijl de armsten er in diezelfde tijd amper of niets bijkregen of krijgen, sterker nog velen uit de armste groepen in onze maatschappij, zijn er ondanks toeslagen vele euro’s op achteruit gegaan……. Extremen als dat voornoemde koningshuis, die ondanks dat het stinkend rijke uitkeringstrekkers zijn, het normaal vonden dat ze er nog meer bijkregen en zelfs het fatsoen niet hadden, deze verhogingen te weigeren…… Extremen als datzelfde koningshuis, dat de laatste 20 jaar de mond vol had over de bescherming van het milieu, maar ondertussen grootaandeelhouder was en is van (‘koninklijke’) Shell………..

Daarover gesproken: het extreme van klimaatakkoorden, die te laat en te weinig maatregelen bevatten, om nog iets tegen de klimaatverandering te doen, maar dan wel extreem mooie berichten over die peperdure, milieuvervuilende klimaatconferenties. Neem het klimaatakkoord van Parijs: de temperatuur mag deze eeuw niet verder stijgen, dan met 2 graden Celsius, daarover roept men al bijna een jaar hosanna….. Terwijl echte deskundigen al hebben berekend, dat zelfs als we alle maatregelen vandaag nog zouden nemen, die stijging van de temperatuur minstens 3 graden zal zijn tegen het eind van deze eeuw………. Maar dan wel vreemd opkijken, dat echt bezorgde burgers gaan rellen, als men weer zo’n leugenconferentie houdt………

Extremen als de enorme luchtvervuiling door auto’s in ons land, waar zo’n 18.000 mensen vroegtijdig, na een akelig ziekbed aan overlijden en waarmee een groot aantal kinderen jaarlijks long- en.of luchtwegklachten oploopt…….. Het is zelfs zo extreem, dat VVD kwaadaardigheid Schultz van Haegen, ondanks voornoemde feiten en Nederland in de EU onderaan bungelt wat betreft de luchtkwaliteit, de maximumsnelheid in ons land heeft verhoogd…….

Extreem ook, dat het OV alles behalve een alternatief voor de auto is……… Zo mocht ik afgelopen maandag bemerken, dat ik voor een treinreis van 80 kilometer op de heenweg 1 uur en 15 minuten nodig had en op de terugweg iets meer dan 3 kwartier, beiden per intercity, al was de heenweg zonder overstap…… Let wel: geen werkzaamheden op dat traject, leve de NS!!

Extremen als de enorme aantasting van de privacy, zogenaamd voor de veiligheid van de burgers, terwijl geheime diensten en politie, al staan ze er bovenop, nog geen aanslag kunnen voorkomen…….

Mensen er zijn nog veel meer extremen te bedenken die het grootste deel van het volk moedeloos of woedend maken. Zoals al vaker opgemerkt op deze plek: het is een wonder dat er niet allang een enorme opstand is uitgebroken……..

Trump eist als aankomend capo di tutti capi van de VS, beschermingsgeld van NAVO leden…….

Als een echte maffiabaas eist Trump nu alvast geld voor het beschermen van de NAVO lidstaten…….

Ach, het maakt ten overvloede nog eens duidelijk, dat de NAVO een VS organisatie is en dat de VS denkt zich te kunnen mengen in binnenlandse aangelegenheden van andere landen……

Overigens zou dit onder Hillary Clinton niet anders zijn geweest, immers men zeikt in de VS al jaren over de ‘geringe financiële bijdragen’ van andere NAVO lidstaten. Let wel: terwijl de VS de NAVO in haar illegale oorlogen gebruikt; m.a.w.: ook u en ik betalen mee aan illegale oorlogsvoering en daarmee aan de moord op een enorm aantal mensen…… Tja, daar is een berg geld voor nodig!!

Of u maar even wilt dokken! Vrede op aarde en in de mensen een uitermate vals gevoel van welbehagen!

Yves Chandelon, topfunctionaris NAVO onder verdachte omstandigheden gevonden na ‘suïcide……’

Yves Chandelon, o.a. belast met de controle op de interne boekhouding van de NAVO werd op 16 december jl. dood gevonden. Tot zijn dood was Chandelon o.a. bezig met een onderzoek naar de financiering van terrorisme en het witwassen van geld,

Volgens de autoriteiten nam Chandelon zijn eigen leven in Andennes, een stad in de Belgische Ardennen. De dood roept nogal wat vragen op, daar hij op een nogal vreemde manier werd gevonden: Chandelon had het wapen in zijn rechterhand, terwijl hij linkshandig is. Nog vreemder: deze Chandelon had 3 vuurwapens in zijn bezit, maar het wapen dat bij zijn lichaam werd gevonden, behoorde daar niet toe…..

Het nieuws over de dood van Chandelon werd bewust uit de media gehouden, pas nadat de familie van Chandelon op 21 december jl. aan de bel trok, met het bericht dat zijn dood verdacht is, kregen de Belgische media lucht van de zaak en begonnen te publiceren.

Intussen wordt er al een verband gelegd met de moord op de Russische ambassadeur Karlov, in Turkije en een hoge Russische topambtenaar, Polshikov, die dood werd gevonden in zijn Appartement in Moskou en dat op dezelfde dag dat Karlov werd vermoord…….

Men wijst zelfs op de dreiging van o.a. Obama, na de valse beschuldigingen aan het adres van Rusland, wegens bemoeienis met de presidentsverkiezingen in de VS, dit middels het hacken van computers….. Iets dat intussen naar het land van de fabelen is verwezen, maar dat door westerse politici en de westerse reguliere pers nog steeds als waarheid wordt gezien…….. Obama dreigde n.a.v. deze zaak met vergelding aan het adres van Rusland……..

De vraag is, wat Chandelon heeft ontdekt met zijn onderzoek naar het financieren van terreur en het witwassen van geld…… Niet ondenkbaar dat Chandelon financiering van terreur heeft achterhaald, die rechtstreeks wijzen naar de VS en andere westerse landen, zoals Groot-Brittannië…..

Dat deze landen, samen met Arabische landen als Saoedi-Arabië en Turkije, ‘gematigde rebellen’ als Al-Qaida, al-Nusra en zelfs IS hebben voorzien van wapens en training, is allang geen vraag meer……….

E.e.a. gebeurt overigens ook met wapen- en munitieleveringen aan Saoedi-Arabië, dat wel zorgt dat de boel op de bestemde terroristische plek komt…… Al zijn er ook voldoende bewijzen, voor leveringen van o.a. VS wapens aan terroristische groeperingen via Turkije (NAVO -lid) en directe levering van wapens aan deze groeperingen door de VS in Irak en Syrië……

De anti-Russische / Assad propaganda i.z. Syrië en Aleppo in het bijzonder, kent intussen geen grenzen meer, een zaak waar ik al veel over heb geschreven en waarover ik berichten overnam. De ‘White Helmets’ duiken telkens weer op in voornoemde propaganda als de grote helden en bron van betrouwbare informatie.

De volgende berichtgeving, o.a. van Counterpunch, gaat uitvoerig in op deze organisatie en na het lezen van nog veel meer stukken, kan ik echt geen andere conclusie trekken, dan dat deze organisatie in feite een terreurorganisatie is. Een organisatie die werd opgezet door een ex-officier van het Britse leger en o.a. betaald door de VS, Groot-Brittannië, Nederland en Denemarken…….. Overigens moet ik hier wel bij vermelden, dat ik door eerdere berichtgeving die ik tegenkwam, al tot dezelfde conclusie was gekomen, vandaar de woorden: ‘echt geen andere conclusie’.

Vanessa Beeley (journalist en mensenrechtenactivist) over de Witte Helmen:

The
White Helmets is not a charity, and neither are they ‘the good
guys’ despite their white helmets. The White Helmets is the
military propaganda arm of the Allies attempt at regime change by
destabilising Syria – and this is exactly what is causing the
refugee component of Europe’s migrant crisis in the first place.


The White Helmets was formed by a British military veteran, not Syrians, one James Le Mesurie. Vanessa Beeley describes as:

A
British “security” specialist and ex-British military
intelligence officer, with an impressive track record in some of the
most dubious NATO intervention theatres including Bosnia and Kosovo,
as well as Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine.

Vanessa Beeley
identifies Farouq Al Habib as one of them:

At
least three other members of the team were a part of the Syrian
“revolution” including Farouq al Habib, one of the 3 most
prominent White Helmet leaders who was also a leader of the Homs
uprising against the Syrian government and according to his
testimony, was tortured by the Syrian “regime” security forces in
2012 for smuggling a journalist into Syria to “cover” the
“peaceful protests”. Habib was a founder member of the ‘Homs
Revolutionary Council’ (the CIA have been linked to nearly all
‘Revolutionary Councils in Syria) before fleeing to Turkey in 2013

Just
How Gray Are the White Helmets of Syria?

While
thousands of humanitarian organisations around the world are
struggling fiercely with diminishing support from governments and the
public, one has achieved a surprising amount of support from Western
governments in a surprisingly short period of time and gained a
surprising attention from mainstream media and ditto political
elites: The Syrian Civil Defence or White Helmets.

Their
name of course makes you think of the UN’s Blue Helmet and white is
the colour of those who should be protected in harm’s way – and
the colour of innocence. However, for many years there has been an
Argentinian relief organisation with the same name.

The
SCD or White Helmets counts nearly 3.000 rescue workers who operate
in very dangerous areas in rebel-held territories in Syria and claims
that it has, in three years, rescued about 70.000 lives according to
its Twitter account (or 65 per day).

Contrary
to what you might think, it isn’t a Syrian organisation because
Syria has its own organisation, incidentally also called Syria Civil
Defence, which was established in 1953 and is registered with ICDO,
the International
Civil Defence Organisation,
since 1972.

The
White Helmets seems to have an annual budget of US$ 30 million and
has raised a total support of well over US$ 100 million. And it seems
that they operate exclusively in war zones in which the fighting
against the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Army takes place,
i.e. in ‘liberated’ areas where hundreds of groups and some 80
countries, mainly NATO members, Gulf states and Saudi-Arabia,
operate.

On
the White Helmets’ briefing
page it
is stated that “funding for their humanitarian relief work is
received from the aid budgets of Japan, Denmark, the Netherlands, the
United Kingdom and the United States.”

Here
is how the Foreign
Ministry in Copenhagen explains the
roughly US$ 9 million to the White helmets from Denmark, a country
that bombs in both Iraq and Syria.

Other
civil society and humanitarian organisations inside Syria have not
been so fortunate. You’ve probably not heard that much about
the Syrian
Arab Red Crescent and its work?
How much/little support have they received from Western
humanitarian-concerned governments? And in general, civil society
organisations in Syria – women, peace, human rights, culture, etc.
– have received nothing like US$ 100 million in a few years and no
one has such a flashy media appearance as the White Helmets.

The
White Helmets was started in 2013 by James
Le Mesurier who
seems to have tried a little of everything everywhere, including the
grey zones of special forces and intelligence in virtually all NATO
wars, Yugoslavia in particular. He later set up a foundation in
Holland to gather the funds. Here is a
recent account by Scott Ritter,
former US Marine Corps intelligence officer and weapons inspector in
Iraq with tremendous knowledge of things Middle East:

“The
organizational underpinnings of the White Helmets can be sourced to a
March 2013 meeting in Istanbul between a retired British military
officer, James Le Mesurier—who had experience in the murky world of
private security companies and the shadowy confluence between
national security and intelligence operations and international
organizations—and representatives of the Syrian National Council
(SNC) and the Qatari Red Crescent Society. Earlier that month, the
SNC was given Syria’s seat in the Arab League at a meeting of the
league held in Qatar.

At
that meeting, the SNC assumed Syria’s seat, and the Arab League
authorized member states to actively provide support, including arms
and ammunition, to the Syrian rebels. The Qataris, working through
the SNC, helped assemble for Le Mesurier $300,000 in seed money from
Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom for a seven-day
course designed to train and equip a 25-person rescue team, recruited
by the SNC, for duty in so-called “liberated areas” of Syria. The
SNC made available a pair of Syrian activists—Raed Saleh and Farouq
Habib—to assist Le Mesurier in this work.

The
group is – as will be seen below – treated as uncontroversial in
virtually all Western mainstream media. However, there is enough
material with documentation to merit caution.

If
you read media reports about the White Helmets and do not see the
author mention that this group’s real identity is disputed and
functions controversial you can be sure that you are wasting your
time with somebody who is politically incredibly naive, or gullible;
someone who has not done his or her research or is knowingly part of
a deceptive effort serving a one-sided political agenda.

The
White Helmets definitely is an controversial NGO – at the same time
as it is (made) difficult to understand clearly what it really is.

And
until the whole picture has been developed, anyone ought to be
cautious with taking information about them at face value. So much
must be clear given the links below.

Dual
purpose?

That
said, this author has not been on the ground but has studied both the
pro- et contra links provided below.

Some
observers draw the conclusion that the White Helmets – Syrian Civil
Defence – is purely good guys rescuing lots of people, children in
particular. The opposite advocacy claims that, all told, they are
part of the terrorist groups, serve Western governments with
intelligence and that their backers run political propaganda in their
name and that they are simply executioners – murderers with a human
face.

But
does it have to be either/or?

An
alternative hypothesis could be that the White Helmets is a
dual-purpose organisation. They claim to be ordinary Syrian
volunteers who came together around the idea of saving lives and are
truly altruistic “bakers, tailors, engineers, pharmacists,
painters, carpenters, students and many more, the White Helmets are
volunteers from all walks of life.” It could well be that some of
them actually are, even a majority.

That
doesn’t preclude that other elements – not the least those
operating outside Syria such as foundations, PR and marketing firms,
change organisations, NATO government and NGOs are in it with less
noble, war-promoting purposes.

including some that argue that the White Helmets ought to receive the
Nobel Peace Prize (which happens to be nonsense, since they don’t
even remotely qualify according to the criteria in Alfred Nobel’s
very clear will and the prize is not a general do-good-prize. In
addition, it must be doubted that the Nobel Committee will get more
persuaded by the White Helmets’ – quite immodest – campaign in
favour of their own candidacy).

Avaaz

Avaaz
means voice or song in several languages and the organisation is
known by millions as a petition platform for many good/progressive
causes. Avaaz has some 43 million members around the world and is
thus easily the largest NGO in the world.

Avaaz
has also created Purpose.com. Here Jeremy Heimans, co-founder of
Avaaz too, speaks to Forbes about
his background and what the two companies do.

Avaaz
is very active in promoting a No-Fly Zone in Syria which
it explains in a petition text with these words: “Let’s build a
resounding global call to Obama and other leaders to stand up to
Putin and Assad’s terror. This might be our last, best chance to
help end this mass murder of defenceless children. Add your name.”

The
sad thing is that it has learnt nothing from its own campaign for a
No-Fly Zone in Libya. John Hanrahan is a former executive director of
The Fund for Investigative Journalism and reporter for The Washington
Post, The Washington Star, UPI and other news organisations has
made this
extremely interesting analysis about
how odd it is that Avaaz maintains an interventionist war-agenda in
spite of earlier experiences and resistance even by high-ranking
militaries.

Hanrahan
quotes Avaaz’s campaign director, former State Department official
John Tye, “that Avaaz shows 54,000 members in Syria in a population
of 23 million – which means that even if every Avaaz member
supported a no-fly zone, this would still mean that only one of every
426 Syrians had “voted” for one.

Avaaz
spearheads – at least in this matter – an extreme militarist
policy while “Avaaz is a global web movement to bring
people-powered politics to decision-making everywhere”. Which
people want a No-Fly Zone in Syria? Do they know it’s a violation
of a sovereign state’s airspace, of international law? That it
would embolden every terrorist on Syrian soil because they would get
rid of the Syrian Airforce as their enemy? That it continued into
regime change in both Iraq and Libya?

Many
questions unanswered by this peculiar “people power”
organisation, more militarist than governments!

But
back to Purpose.com and one of its important clients: The
Syria Campaign – home

They
maintain on their
website that
“The Syria Campaign is fiercely independent and has accepted no
money from governments, corporations or anyone directly involved in
the Syrian conflict. This allows us full autonomy to advocate for
whatever is needed to save lives.” But they also say that they have
accepted funds from the Asfari Foundation and the Rockefeller
Brothers Foundation and other anonymous donors.

The
Syria Campaign also states that it is only pro-human rights and
pro-freedom and takes no side. But they explain the conflict in these
words:

“The
regime of Bashar al-Assad is responsible for crushing a peaceful
uprising that has led to the deaths of over 450,000 people, the
displacement of over 12 million – half the country – and the
emergence of violent, extremist groups like Isis.

Today
the fighting in Syria has given way to a world war with more than
eighty countries involved on all sides.

The
majority of Syrians want neither Assad nor Isis. They want an end to
the violence and a democratic Syria.

What
is happening in Syria could be happening to any of us. No one is free
until we’re all free.”

I
would characterise such a presentation as side-taking wrapped in
substance-free marketing jargon; a very politicised statement wearing
only black-and-white.

General
reasons for concern about the real identity of the White Helmets

Here
are some of the reasons – numbers not indicative of priority:

+
Huge funding by NATO/EU countries which are militarily involved.

+ A
degree of political lobbying – a very specific explanation of the
conflict and how it started which points to a no-fly zone,
weaponization of human rights issues and speaks strongly against the
Syrian government and Russia and very critically of the UN – that
is extremely unusual for a purely humanitarian organisation.

+
Incredibly advanced public relation in terms of very professional
websites, videos and PR strategy dropping the right stories and
images at the right time – quite unique for a group of “bakers,
tailors and students” etc..

+
Too professional wordings and images, too much playing to
(exploitation of) emotions, too catchy smart formulations again and
again; in short, lacking every sense of genuine local quality. Too
many children – and cats –
in the images speaking to an audience with little politically
consciousness but surely a good heart. In short, populist marketing
also in the sense of conveying the message: Look how good we are and
how evil everybody else are.

+
Guilt by association: If the White Helmets is a 100% humanitarian
first responder organisation it must be extremely naive in ignoring
that its integrity, credibility and noble purposes is put at risk
with the specific network of organisations and governments that it
has chosen to seek support from.

+
Substance versus public relation: how does a humanitarian
organisation justify that millions of dollars are spent on
self-promoting public relation rather than on saving more lives in
such a horrific war? And taking so many photos and shoot films of its
own work in the midst of massacres and bombing raids?

+
It’s very difficult to discern who actually manages the White
Helmets in general and in terms of day-to-day operations. One looks
in vain for something like an organisational chart secretary-general,
board, executive director (although one is mentioned, Raed Saleh,
whom the US has on one occasion actually denied entry into the US).

+
How come that such an innovative organisation seems to have been
started in circles that have to do with oil interests, British
intelligence, mercenary/military operations and
interventionist/bombing countries?

+
How come it works only in rebel/terrorist/liberated areas? Could it
do that without co-operation or co-ordination with some of these
groups? It has been stated – naively – by the Right Livelihood
Award Foundation that their vision is to operate also on
government-controlled territory and later be a leader in re-building
a new democratic post-war Syria. However, why should the sovereign
state of Syria’s legitimate government accept a foreign-based and
-financed civil defence territory there when it has had its own since
1953?

Perhaps
we should not be that surprised?

Should
we be surprised that humanitarian workers are involved in “something
else” and are not exclusively devoted to doing no harm and doing
good for humanity?

Not
really. I’ve met that sort of people and organisations during the
dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, among other places at the US
Embassy in Zagreb where the humanitarian section people, most likely
CIA operatives, after some talk with me about helping the people
switched to talk about how good it would be if president Milosevic
was killed.

Are
humanitarian organisations – like most other NGOs today – highly
or completely dependent on governments? Yes, most are. And they
should therefore always be checked for possible moral corruption and
co-optation. Many are no longer Non- but Near-governmental and
behave, at minimum, politically correct or serve/promote the
interests of their governments one way or the other.

Wasn’t Doctors
Without Borders started
by Bernard Kouchner who advocated military humanitarian intervention
as an idea, did the dirty job for NATO in Kosovo and
morally advocated the
bombing of Libya as a “peace guarantee”? Here an
interesting video
debate with
him at Oxford by Mehdi Hasan.

Should
it be so surprising that – even liberal, democratic – governments
propagandise, construct concrete stories to appeal to the human heart
in us all (for a good cause) and that they regularly lie, do
fear-mongering, use stereotyping and demonisation, present
black-and-white narratives – all of which serve their elites’
interests and may not always be that noble in reality?

Think
of the ugly
shadow world of the global arms trade in
which virtually all governments take part in?

Of
course not. No wars would be possible without one of more of these
ingredients.

Think
of the – invented – story about the Iraqi soldiers who kicked out
babies of incubators in Kuwait city – all
invented as part of the Citizens for a Free Kuwait public relations
campaign which was run by American Hill & Knowlton for the
Kuwaiti government.

Or,
remember James
Harf of the US public relations firm, Ruder and Finn,
who in 1991 was hired by the Croatian and Bosnian governments as well
as by the Kosovo-Albanians to create and promote an anti-Serb
attitude in the Western media?

Says
Harf “We were able to equate Serbs to Nazis in public opinion…”
Some kind of balance or truth didn’t interest him: “We are
professionals. We have got a job to do and we do it.”

If
there is anything new in this field since the early 1990s it is the
spectrum, the depth, the money and the intensity with which public
opinion is being deceived about war and peace – that war today is
peace and peace is preserved by violence. And the de facto
replacement of knowledge and texts by purpose-driven, mediatized and
emotionalised “narratives” and images and films – right down on
you phone and into your mind.

In
summary: Illusions about our goodness that feed social narcissism and
the MIMAC

I
do not believe that I know exactly what the whole story and the truth
is about the White Helmets. But I know that quite a few things don’t
feel right.

As
a sociologist and peace researcher with four decades of academic and
practical experience of global affairs and work in conflict zones,
the word spoken by the guard Marcellus in Shakespeare’s Hamlet at
Kronborg Castle in my native Denmark come to mind: “There is
something rotten in the state…” not only in the bombing state of
Denmark (that supports the White Helmets) but also in the state of
the – free – media coverage of conflicts and wars.

If,
thus, you are generally sceptical of Western media coverage of wars
fought by the West and specifically of the story of the White Helmets
as a purely brave humanitarian organisation – are you then
automatically pro-Assad, pro-Russia or pro-bombing? If you are
critical to A, must you automatically endorse everything B or C does?

Given
the “Zeitgeist” of these times, my hunch is that the
anti-intellectual’s, the propagandist’s and the blamegamer’s
answer is a roaring “Yes!” Personally, I couldn’t care less but
there is reason to worry about the fact that our media are not free
to take up the issues dealt with here.

Pulitzer
prize winner, Chris Hedges, talks about “the
incessant manufacturing of illusions that feed social
narcissism.” The
– unwinnable – wars the West fights with the illusory ideology of
spreading goodness, democracy, freedom and peace as well as the
alleged good role of the White Helmets in it is little else but an
expression of such an incessant manufacturing of illusions that feed
social narcissism of the many while filling the pockets of the few in
the Military-Industrial-Media-Academic Complex (MIMAC).

It’s
time to give reality show politics and media a reality check. But who
can and who will? And who dares now everything will get worse after
November 8?
