Instead of calling out the sort of right-wing white nationalist
racism that led to the horrific scene last week, the Israeli
government has instead used the attack to
demonizethose
who support Palestinian rights.
It’s
a pathetic and rather disgusting attempt to draw equivalence between
real, classical anti-Semitism and principled criticism of Israeli
policy. Rather than examine the very real and
problematic relationship
between Zionism and white nationalism,
self-appointed anti-Semitism hunters would rather use Pittsburgh to
further their own political ends – protecting
Israel, at any cost.And
this is what
the Lobby is protecting,at
the cost of excusing homicidal anti-Semitism. Anything beyond
lukewarm criticism of Israel that doesn’t
mention “Palestinians”seems

Yesterday
during an interview on MSNBC, Ron Dermer, the Israeli Ambassador to
the United States, placed the blame for the attack on both white
supremacists and the “radical left,” which is clearly code for
BDS activists.
“One
of the big forces in college campuses today is anti-Semitism. And
those anti-Semites are usually not neo-Nazis, on college campuses.
They’re coming from the radical left. We have to stand against
anti-Semitism whether it comes from the right or whether it comes
from the left.”
This
is a disgusting lie. But it is part and parcel with the recent push
by the Israeli government and its supporters in the West to redefine
the meaning of antisemitism to include criticism of Israel.
When
faced the most blatant example of antisemitic violence imaginable,
Dermer can’t bring himself to criticize the actual accomplices who
made this violence possible. Donald Trump, who declared himself a
“nationalist” earlier in the week, and the forces of white
supremacy in this country have created the atmosphere where this type
of violence is possible, even predictable. Yet during the MSNBC
interview Dermer said Trump is to be praised for his statements on
antisemitism, in no large part because the Trump administration has
been a strong supporter of the rightwing Netanyahu government that
Dermer represents.
This
is where Israel finds itself in 2018. The same “nationalist”
voices attacking George Soros and the “globalists” are also some
of Israel’s greatest supporters in the U.S.
But
it’s not just the Israeli government looking to use Pittsburgh.
Writing
in the New
York Times ADL
head Jonathan Greenblatt did the same thing, equating the ideology
behind the deadly attack on the 11 American Jews who were killed
while praying with criticism of the state of Israel.
The both sidesism in this Greenblatt piece is a disgrace. Head of @ADL_National can’t even bring himself to name the Republican party as the chief American exporters of anti-Semitic incitement.
In light of today’s shooting in Pittsburgh, re-upping this thread. It is important to talk about how growing anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism are creating a toxic brew coming from both the fringe right & left.
The
murderous rampage at the Tree of Life synagogue had absolutely
nothing to do with the struggle for Palestinian rights. And
anyone who is telling you there is is shamelessly trying to use the

The
Electronic Intifada has obtained a complete copy of The
Lobby – USA,
a four-part undercover investigation by Al Jazeera into Israel’s
covert influence campaign in the United States.
We
are releasing the leaked film simultaneously with
France’s Orient XXI and
Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar,
which have respectively subtitled the episodes in French and Arabic.
The
film was made by Al Jazeera during 2016 and was completed in
October 2017.
But
it was censored after
Qatar, the gas-rich Gulf emirate that funds Al Jazeera, came under
intense Israel
lobby pressure not
to air the film.
Although
Al Jazeera’s director-general claimed last month that there were
outstanding legal issues with the film, his assertions have
been flatly
contradicted by his own journalists.
In
March, The Electronic Intifada was the first
to report on
any of the film’s specific content. We followed
this in August by
publishing the first extract of the film, and shortly
after Max
Blumenthal at the Grayzone
Projectreleased others.
Since
then, The Electronic Intifada has released three
other extracts,
and several other journalists have watched the entire film and
written about it – including Alain
Gresh and Antony
Loewenstein.
Now
The Electronic Intifada can reveal for the first time that it has
obtained all four parts of the film.

To
get unprecedented access to the Israel lobby’s inner workings,
undercover reporter “Tony” posed as a pro-Israel volunteer
in Washington.
The
resulting film exposes the efforts of Israel and its lobbyists to spy
on, smear and intimidate US citizens who support
Palestinian human rights, especially BDS – the boycott,
divestment and sanctions movement.
It
shows that Israel’s semi-covert black-ops government
agency, the Ministry
of Strategic Affairs,
is operating this effort in collusion with an extensive network
of US-based organizations.
The
film was suppressed after the government of Qatar came under intense
pressure not to release it – ironically from the very same lobby
whose influence and antics the film exposes.
Clayton
Swisher, Al Jazeera’s head of investigations, revealed in
an article for The
Forward in
March that Al Jazeera had sent more than 70 letters to individuals
and organizations who appear in or are discussed in the film,
providing them with an opportunity to respond.
Only
three did so. Instead, pro-Israel groups have endeavored to suppress
the film that exposes the lobby’s activities.
In
April, Al Jazeera’s management was forced
to deny a claim by
the hard-right Zionist Organization of America that the film had been
canceled altogether.
In
June, The Electronic Intifada learned
that a high level source in
Doha had said the film’s indefinite delay was due to “national
security” concerns of the Qatari government.
Reifkind
– then an Israeli embassy employee – describing her typical work
day as “mainly gathering intel, reporting back to Israel … to
report back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of
Strategic Affairs.”
She
discusses the Israeli government “giving our support” to front
groups “in that behind-the-scenes way.”
Reifkind
also admits to using fake Facebook profiles to infiltrate the circles
of Palestine solidarity activists on campus.
The
film also reveals that US-based groups coordinate their efforts
directly with the Israeli government, particularly its Ministry
of Strategic Affairs.
The
film shows footage of the very same ex-military intelligence
officer, Sima
Vaknin-Gil,
claiming to have mapped Palestinian rights activism “globally. Not
just the United States, not just campuses, but campuses and
intersectionality and labor unions and churches.”
She
promises to use this data for “offense activity” against
Palestine activists.
Jacob
Baime, executive director of the Israel on Campus Coalition, claims
in the undercover footage that his organization uses “corporate
level, enterprise-grade social media intelligence software” to
gather lists of Palestine-related student events on campus,
“generally within about 30 seconds or less” of them being
posted online.
Baime
also admits on hidden camera that his group “coordinates” with
the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs.
Baime
states that his researchers “issue early warning alerts to our
partners” – including Israeli ministries.
Baime’s
colleague Ian Hersh admits in the film to adding Israel’s “Ministry
of Strategic Affairs to our operations and intelligence brief.”
“Psychological warfare”
Baime
describes how his group has used anonymous websites to
target activists.
“With
the anti-Israel people, what’s most effective, what we’ve found
at least in the last year, is you do the opposition research, put up
some anonymous website, and then put up targeted Facebook ads,”
Baime explains in part
three of the film.
“Canary
Mission is a good example,” he states. “It’s
psychological warfare.”
The
film names, for the first time, convicted
tax evaderAdam
Milstein as
the multimillionaire funder and mastermind of Canary Mission – an
anonymous smear site targeting student activists.
Eric
Gallagher, then fundraising director for The Israel Project, is seen
in the undercover footage admitting that “Adam Milstein, he’s the
guy who funds” Canary Mission.
Milstein
also funds The Israel Project, Gallagher states.
Gallagher
says that when he was working for AIPAC,
Washington’s most powerful Israel lobby group, “I was literally
emailing back and forth with [Adam Milstein] while he was in jail.”
Despite
not replying to Al Jazeera’s request for comment,
Milstein denied that
he and his family foundation “are funders of Canary Mission” on
the same day The Electronic Intifada published the clip.
In
March, The Electronic Intifada published the
first details of what is in the film.
We
reported that it showed Sima Vaknin-Gil claiming to have leading
neoconservative think tank the Foundation for Defense of Democracies
working for her ministry.
The
undercover footage shows Vaknin-Gil claiming that “We have FDD.
We have others working on” projects including “data gathering,
information analysis, working on activist organizations, money trail.
This is something that only a country, with its resources, can do
the best.”
As
noted in part one of the documentary, the existence of the film and
the identity of the undercover reporter became known after footage he
had shot for it was used in Al Jazeera’s The
Lobby –
about Israel’s covert influence campaign in the UK –
aired in early 2017.
Since
then, Israel lobbyists have heavily pressured Qatar to prevent
the US film from airing.
“Foreign agent”
Clayton
Swisher, Al Jazeera’s head of investigations, first
confirmed in October 2017 that
the network had run an undercover reporter in the US Israel
lobby at the same time as in the UK.
Swisher
promised the film would be released “very soon,” but it never
came out.
Multiple
Israel lobby sources told Israel’s Haaretz newspaper
in February that they had received assurances from Qatari leaders
late last year that the documentary would not be aired.
Qatar denied
this,
but the paper stood by its story.
Swisher’s
op-ed in The
Forward was
his first public comment on the matter since he had announced
the documentary.
In
it, he refutes Israel lobby allegations about the film and expresses
frustration that Al Jazeera had not aired it, apparently due to
outside pressure.
They
have included some of the most right-wing and extreme figures among
Israel’s defenders in the US, such
as Harvard
law professor Alan Dershowitz and Morton Klein, the head of the
Zionist Organization of America.
Swisher
wrote in The
Forward that
he ran into Dershowitz at a Doha restaurant during one of these
visits, and invited the professor to a private viewing of the film.
“I
have no problem with any of the secret filming,” Swisher says
Dershowitz told him afterwards.
“And
I can even see this being broadcast on PBS” –
the US public broadcaster.
Yet
it appears that Israel lobby efforts to quash the film were
successful – until now.

How
Google Wipes Palestine Off the Map
Google’s
dedication to Israel’s occupation can be seen in its maps and its
refusal to recognise the reality of Israel’s apartheid system for
Palestinians
(MEMO Op-ed) — Like
the other
Silicon Valley monopolies,
Google habitually takes the side of Israeli occupation and war crimes
in Palestine – the very term Palestine is not used by their highly
influential maps app.
With
a known history documented back more than 3,200 years, the name
“Palestine” is the only term continuously used for the entire
territory of the country lying between the Jordan River and the
Mediterranean Sea.
Palestine
is the most historically accurate term. But since
1948,
when Zionist militias expelled the majority of the Palestinian
population from the country by force, a new state, “Israel”, was
established.
That
state has never declared its borders.
Consequentially,
when speaking about “Israel” it is unclear exactly what territory
is being referred to. But Zionists of both the right and the “left”
commonly claim the entire historic territory of Palestine as the
“Land of Israel.”
The
new report,
by 7amleh (Hamleh), a Palestinian organisation advocating online
rights, details how Google seems to almost go out of its way to
eradicate the reality of Palestinian life.
In
2016, Google
came under fire from Palestinians on social media when
the terms “West Bank” and “Gaza” disappeared from Google
Maps. Google said that the removal of these terms was down to a
glitch and that they had never used the word Palestine in the first
place.
(The
West Bank and Gaza Strip are regions of Palestine that are important,
since they represent
the
remaining Palestinian territories which Israel failed to occupy in
1948. In
1967,
however, Israel took over those too.)
“Through
its mapping and labelling,” the 7amleh report explains, “one can
deduce that Google Maps recognises the existence of Israel, with
Jerusalem as its capital, but not Palestine.”
There
are further aspects of the way Google has wiped Palestinian life off
the map though. As the 7amleh report maps in some detail, Palestinian
villages in the Naqab (Negev desert) deemed “unrecognised” by
Israel (inside of what is sometimes termed “Israel proper” –
the territories of Palestine occupied in 1948) are not properly
mapped by Google.
These
villages are only visible in Google Maps “when zooming in very
closely,” the report explains, “but otherwise appear to be
non-existent. This means that when looking at Google Maps, these
villages appear to be not there.”
The
report details how small Israeli villages are “displayed even when
zoomed-out, while unrecognised Palestinian Bedouin villages,
regardless of their size are only visible when zooming in very
closely.”
This
is despite the fact that there “are in total 46 Bedouin villages in
the Naqab, the majority of which existed before Israel’s creation
in 1948. Some claim to have existed since the 7th century.”
Israel
has repeatedly attempted to physically remove these villages, but has
repeatedly failed, thanks to the resistance of the Palestinians who
live there, and thanks also to national and
international solidarity shown to those villages.
Their
Israeli (lack of) status as “unrecognised” also means that the
state refuses to connect the villages to basic services like water
and electricity – despite the fact that nearby Israeli-Jewish
settlements are given all the support possible.
As
Basma Abu-Qwaider, one Palestinian Naqab villager, explains in the
report:
“Google
Maps acts in a discriminatory manner towards the unrecognised village
the same [way] as the Israeli government does. Google ignores the
existence of these villages just like Israel and for me if you do not
exist on the map it means that you are invisible and that’s exactly
what Israel wants us to be.”
This
solidarity with Israeli racism expressed by Google’s helpful
attitude towards Israel’s wiping of
Palestinians
quite literally off the map extends across the 1967 “Green Line”
ceasefire boundary.
Palestinian
villages even within the “West Bank” area of the Jordan Valley
are not properly mapped by Google either. The report documents that
while Israeli settlements “can be seen when looking at the larger
area of the map” some Palestinian villages are only visible when
zoomed in – and even that only as a result of pressure being put on
by a human rights organisation.
Google
also refuses to recognise or map the reality of Israel’s apartheid
roads system for Palestinians.
As
part of Israel’s ongoing settler-colonisation of Palestine, large
parts of the West Bank – which is ruled by Israeli military decree
– are prohibited access for Palestinians. Many roads are reserved
for the use of Jews only.
Despite
the illegality of these practices under international law, Google’s
route-planning apps do not designate Israeli settlements in the West
Bank as illegal.
7amleh’s
report concludes: “Google Maps, as the largest global mapping and
route planning service, has the power to influence global public
opinion and therefore bears the responsibility to abide by
international human rights standards and to offer a service that
reflects the Palestinian reality.”
Google
should be compelled to end its complicity with Israeli racism and
apartheid.

(mensen!) niet helemaal doodziek zijn van de Israëlische blokkade van
hun grondgebied, waar velen niet eens toestemming krijgen om daar te
vertrekken, ofwel de Gazastrook is veranderd in een getto zoals dat
van Warschau in WOII, anders gezegd: de Gazastrook is één grote openluchtgevangenis…….
De
Palestijnen zijn het beu dat hun huizen in puin liggen,
doodziek van de enorme werkloosheid, doodziek van de tekorten aan water, elektriciteit, medicijnen en de uitzichtloze situatie in
haar geheel, waar de massamoorden op de Palestijnen wel de grootste frustratie veroorzaken. massamoorden die Israël pleegt zo vaak het haar maar uitkomt…… Alsof je door de hiervoor genoemde zaken (en
dat zijn er nog maar een paar) niet voldoende motivatie opbouwt om hoe dan ook te protesteren tegen de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël………
Kortom de Israëlische terreurstaat heeft met het samentrekken van tanks en andere legervoertuigen
aan de grens met de Gazastrook getoond dat de Palestijnen alweer een groot
bloedbad te wachten staat…..
Was
nogal verbaasd over het hieronder door Tyler Durden geschreven
artikel op Zero Hedge over deze zaak, waarin hij het aantal
slachtoffers aan de Palestijnse kant van de grens met Israël houdt op
dozijnen, terwijl er intussen 205 ongewapende Palestijnen,
waaronder 38 kinderen, zijn vermoord door laffe Israëlische psychopaten….. Voorts zijn er meer dan 21.000 mensen gewond geraakt, waaronder 4.250 kinderen, dit door hetzelfde psychopathische optreden van het Israëlische geteisem….. De cijfers komen van de VN en zijn van 15 oktober jl.*, gegarandeerd dat deze cijfers intussen verder zijn gestegen……. “No
Choice but War”: Israel Amasses Dozens of Tanks on Gaza Border
(ZHE) — We
reported over the weekend that Israel has mustered its largest
build-up of tanks and armored personnel carriers since 2014 at a
deployment area along the border with Gaza and that “all-out
war” looks inevitable after
weeks of heightened tensions with Hamas. This after special UN envoy
for the Middle East, Nickolay Mladenov late last week
warned the
UN Security Council that “we
remain on the brink of another potentially devastating conflict.”
It
now appears Israel is ready to act, as on Monday Defense
Minister Avigdor Lieberman told Israeli parliament
that he’s
been left with “no choice” but to launch military action against
Hamas militants.
Last week rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip, with one landing
dangerously near the densely populated city of Tel Aviv, and unrest
along the border fence has continued largely unabated for months.
During
his bellicose speech before lawmakers, Lieberman threatened
invasion of Gaza:“Wars
are only conducted when there is no choice, and now there is no
choice,” the
defense minister said. He indicated that anything less than
the “toughest response” to Hamas is not being
considered as Tel
Aviv has “exhausted the other options.”
He
said of protests which Israeli forces have somewhat routinely fired
upon as Palestinians approach the fence and a security “no-go”
zone: “There is no popular uprising,” and added, “There
is violence organized by Hamas. Fifteen thousand people don’t come
by foot to the border at their own will. They come by bus and are
paid.”
Lieberman’s
accusation that Hamas pays large sums to protesters comes as
international human rights groups have frequently decried Israel’s
lose of live ammo to stop protesters from approaching the fence,
which have over the past six months resulted in dozens of Palestinian
casualties.
The
defense minister said further that Hamas
“controls the levels of the flames,” but
Israel can take deterrent and defensive measures, according to
the Jerusalem
Post.
“I don’t believe in reaching an arrangement with Hamas,” he
argued. “It
hasn’t worked, doesn’t work and won’t work in the future.”
Last
week tensions escalated further afterIsrael
retaliated against Hamas rocket attacks on Wednesday by
unleashing limited airstrikes on Gaza, which reportedly killed
at least one Palestinian while injuring several more. Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his security cabinet on
the same day of the Gaza rocket launches and promised
to take “very strong action” if such attacks continued.
It
does indeed look like broader military action is coming as
a Reuters photographer
had by the close of last week documented some 60
Israeli tanks and armored personnel carriers stationed along
the Gaza-Israel border – with that number likely growing since
– which Reuters noted is the largest reported mustering
of forces since the 2014 war between Israel and Hamas.

Palestine Can Now Get You Denied Entry to the US
I
have been a severe critic of the current US administration’s policy
towards the Palestinians. But does this make me a possible security
threat to the US? Of course not.
(MEE) — In
April 2017, while travelling for a routine family holiday to
Jerusalem, I was denied
entry upon
arrival at Tel Aviv airport. Israeli authorities’ official –
and bizarre – explanation for the entry denial was: I had attempted
to “gain illegal entry”. However, being British citizens, we are
normally allowed to travel to Israel without a visa. We have it
issued at the entry point and I had obtained it on many occasions
before.
But
as I came to realise later the real reason was due to my role as vice
chair of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), a UK-based
organisation that campaigns peacefully for Palestinian rights and
which upholds the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign
against Israel’s occupation.
BDS
Promoters Denied
In
March 2017, Israel passed the “BDS
law“, which
allowed it to deny entry to those engaged in BDS movement promotion.
My colleague and PSC chair, Hugh
Lanning,
was denied entry soon after the law was passed. Another colleague,
Anwar Makhlouf, head of the Palestinian Federation of Chile, was also
denied entry at the Allenby Bridge based on the same law.
When
I contacted both the British embassy in Tel Aviv and the foreign
office in London for an explanation, I received the same reply: this
was a sovereign decision for Israel. This meant Britain did not even
acknowledge that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied
Palestinian Territories. The UK’s position is what gives Israel the
green light to conduct its policy with total impunity.
Even
pro-Palestine Jewish foreign nationals, who are supposedly entitled
to go to Israelby
the Law of Return (which grants citizenship to Jews from anywhere in
the world) have been denied entry, and even denied permission to
board their flights to Israel.
In
July 2017, five members of an interfaith
delegation were
denied permission to board a Lufthansa flight at Washington DC’s
Dulles International Airport that would ultimately take them to Tel
Aviv. Among them was Rabbi Alissa Wise of Jewish Voice for Peace
(JVP), who said in a statement: “Israel denied me the ability to
travel there because of my work for justice for Palestinians, even
though I’m Jewish and a rabbi.”
She
added: “I’m heartbroken and outraged. This is yet another
demonstration that democracy and tolerance in Israel only extends to
those who fall in line with its increasingly repressive policies
against Palestinians.”
Last
July, Ariel Gold, co-director of BDS campaign group Code Pink, was
denied entry at
Ben Gurion airport despite obtaining a visa in advance to take a
course at the Hebrew University. Her deportation, and those of
others, are normally ordered by Israeli Minister of Security Gilan
Erdan, and Israeli Minister of Interior Aryeh Deri.
The
most recent case of entry denial involved Lara
Alqasem,
a 22-year-old Palestinian-American student, despite the fact that she
has recently been granted a student visa for her masters’ degree in
the Hebrew University. Alqasem spent days in detention at Tel Aviv
airport struggling to be allowed to join the course she had
registered for.
At
the time of writing, Alqasem was planning a second appeal to Israeli
courts. She stood her ground, refusing to bow to the demands by Erdan
to renounce the BDS movement.
When
I was denied entry to Israel last year, the Israeli interrogator had
printed many pages of my tweets and challenged me about a small
number of them. However, because they were presented to me in Hebrew
I declined the opportunity to comment.
Israel’s
arrests of Palestinians for social media posts have soared. In May,
the Palestinian Prisoners’ Centre for Studies (PPC) said that
Israel had detained
some
500 Palestinians, including women and children, because of their
social media posts. In 2015, Dareen
Tatour,
a Palestinian poet, was detained for three years, before her release
last month, for writing a poem, entitled “Resist my people,
resist.”
US
Ban?
Entry
denial due to BDS movement promotion is an established Israeli
policy. I wonder, however, if my activity on social media, and
my op-eds on the Palestinian conflict, were the reasons behind being
denied boarding of a US-bound plane at Heathrow airport in August.
US
authorities have thus far refused to provide me with an explanation
as to why this happened despite having initially secured approval
through the visa waiver (ESTA) scheme, just as any other British
citizen is normally entitled to do.
ESTA
entitles the holder to travel to the US without a visa for a two-year
period. I had obtained this in the past and travelled to the US to
attend conferences connected to my academic work without any problem,
the last time being in 2015.
My
trip was planned at short notice to spend Eid Al-Adha with relatives
in America. Having obtained my ESTA, I made my way to Heathrow to
board a Virgin Atlantic flight to Seattle on 17 August. Upon
arriving, I tried to check-in via the terminals but could not.
I
was informed by a member of staff that I would not be allowed to
travel since my ESTA had been declined, despite its initial approval.
No explanation was given. I was then told that I could apply for
a visa at the American Consulate in London.
I
was shocked and devastated. I had now missed the window for my
holiday and lost a substantial amount of money, which was not
recoverable.
What
could possibly have changed since my last trip to the US? My
immediate answer was that there was a new administration in the White
House, with little tolerance for foreigners and which is blindingly
supportive of Israel.
However,
I decided to investigate further before my hunch was confirmed. I
wrote to the US ambassador in London and completed a “redress”
request directly to the US Department for Homeland Security.
A
couple of weeks later, the embassy responded through its Customs and
Border Protection Attache saying: “Whilst the Customs and Border
Protection (CBP) are unable to discuss any person’s denial of an
ESTA or their admission into the US due to security/privacy policy
laws, I can confirm that you will require Non-Immigrant visa should
you wish to travel to the US in the future.”
The
“redress” response, which arrived a few days later, was almost
unintelligible.
Trump’s
America
In
the absence of an explanation, I am left with the conclusion that
Trump’s America does not tolerate criticism of its policies and
that it works very closely with Israel, sharing intelligence about
individuals who are deemed undesirable for both countries.
It
is safe to assume that Israeli authorities have supplied US
authorities with names of individuals like myself who have been
denied entry because of their advocacy for the Palestinian people.
However, for the US to then deny them entry based on this peaceful
work is very troubling.
I
have been a severe
critic of
the current US administration’s policy towards the Palestinians.
But does this make me a possible security threat to the US? Of course
not. However, it helps Israel to further bully its critics into
silence if they fear being denied entry to other countries that
Israel can influence.
Neither
denial of entry to Israel nor to the US will silence supporters of
the Palestinian people. In fact, this will embolden us to be even
more vocal in our criticism of apartheid Israel.

opperhufter Danny Danon lobbyde voor de Israëlische contracten onder
meer door een aantal evenementen (en niet: ‘eventen!’) te
organiseren voor de leden van de commissie die de biedingen bekeek,
waarbij waarschijnlijk nog wel ‘iets onder het tafelkleed’ werd
doorgeschoven……….
Hoe
kan de VN psychopaten contracteren die in feite lid zijn van het
Israëlische leger, dat de ene massamoord na de andere aanricht onder
de Palestijnen….???
Trouwens
over die VN troepen in Afrika gesproken: de hoogste tijd dat er
veiligheidsfirma’s komen, die de plaatselijke bevolking beschermen
tegen de regelmatig voorkomende verkrachtingen en gewelddadige acties
van de VN troepen………
Dan nog even over watervoorziening on de door Israël illegaal bezette West Bank en in de Gazastrook. Israël heeft ervoor gezorgd dat beide gebieden niet, of nog amper over eigen water beschikken, door diverse maatregelen zoals afdammingen, moet water voor de Palestijnen in beide gebieden worden aangevoerd, waar de illegale nederzettingen op de door Israël illegaal bezette West Bank zelfs de beschikking hebben over zwembaden……. Geen punt voor de VN……

companies sign deals to secure UN forces in Africa

The
United Nations has signed purchase agreements with Israeli companies
specialising in water and security services worth tens of millions of
shekels.
The
deals have been made in the light of increasingly deteriorating
security for UN bases and aid workers throughout numerous locations
in Africa. Last year alone, 61 UN peacekeepers were killed in the
continent – the highest number recorded in the past 25 years –
causing the UN to urgently seek out new defence systems to purchase
for its bases.
As
a result of its worldwide search for systems with sensors which can
detect precision-guided threats such as missiles, three out of the
five companies that the UN contacted were Israeli. The Israeli
company MER was finally chosen, signing an $8 million deal for the
next three years with the option of a further five years.
Israeli
water treatment company Odis was also handed a contract, winning a
tender worth $42 million. Other deals were signed in addition to
these main two purchase agreements.
The
companies were initially introduced and recommended to UN officials
by the Israeli delegation led by Ambassador Danny Danon, with various
events being held for the purpose of promoting Israeli manufacturing
and acquisition deals. With the events having been successful, the
representatives of the Israeli companies were approached and invited
to participate in UN bids.
“Diplomacy
offers many opportunities for the advancement of Israel and Israeli
industry,” Danon said, “I am proud of the Israeli companies
joining forces with the United Nations to become an integral part of
the organisation’s activities worldwide.”
“This
is yet another achievement for Israel at the United Nations, which
will bring tens of millions of shekels to the country, thereby
opening up the local industry even further. This is also an
opportunity for exposing Israeli businesses to potential acquisition
deals with the organisation,” he concluded.
Such
deals on an enormous scale between Israel and the UN are not new:
last year alone, Israeli companies sold $52 million worth of products
and services to the organisation.
Though
Israel is happy to trade with the UN, it has repeatedly slammed its
diplomacy and the numerous resolutions passed by the General Assembly
against the occupation’s activities against Palestinians and their
land.
One
UN body, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organisation, has long been critical of Israel and its policies. In
2016, UNESCO voted on a resolution which denied any
Jewish connection to Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Buraq
(Western) Wall.
In
2017, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee condemned Israeli
policy in occupied East Jerusalem, calling Israel an “occupying
power”.
It
also inscribed Hebron’s
Old Town and the Ibrahimi Mosque in occupied Hebron onto the list of
endangered World Heritage sites in the State of Palestine.

Israeli soldiers gun down unarmed Palestinian demonstrators in the
Great March of Return, their lethal operations depend on an array of
contractors and suppliers, many of them companies based outside
Israel.
“The
Israeli military relies on a network of international companies,
supplying everything from sniper rifles to tear gas, to carry out its
massacres of protesters in Gaza,” Tom Anderson, a researcher
for Corporate
Occupation,
told MintPress
News.
“These companies are knowingly supporting war crimes, and are
complicit in state-orchestrated murder.”
Since
the mobilization began on March 30, Israeli forces have killed 205
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the United Nations’ Office for the
Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian
Territory reported on
October 4.
There
have been 21,288 injured, including 5,345 from live ammunition,
resulting in 11,180 hospitalizations. Thirty-eight of the dead and
4,250 of the wounded were children.
A
press release accompanying a September 25 report by the World
Bank warned,
“The economy in Gaza is collapsing,” adding that “the
decade-long blockade is the core issue.”
Caterpillar
is known internationally
for Israel’s use of its bulldozers to demolish Palestinian homes in
the occupied West Bank and inside Israel itself, as well as for its
role in the killing of Rachel Corrie, an International Solidarity
Movement activist from the United States, who was crushed to death by
one of the company’s Israel-operated machines in the southern Gaza
Strip on March 16, 2003. In Gaza, Caterpillar is notorious for
Israel’s deployment of
its equipment to reinforce a military barrier around the Strip, as
well as to level Palestinian farmland inside it.
These leveling operations
both destroy Palestinian agriculture, keeping Gaza a captive market
for Israeli producers, and maintain a clear line of fire for Israeli
soldiers to shoot Palestinians.
Combined
Systems, Inc.
Combined
Systems — a Jamestown, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer owned by
Point Lookout Capital and the Carlyle Group — supplies light
weaponry and security equipment, such as tear gas and flash grenades,
to repressive governments worldwide. In May, Corporate Occupation
researchers spotted an
Israeli vehicle, with police markings but obviously intended for
military use, equipped with the company’s ‘Venom’ tear
gas launcher next to the Gaza barrier.
Ford
Motor Company
While
other manufacturers, like General
Motors,
also provide vehicles used by the Israeli army to deploy its soldiers
along the Gaza barrier, Ford’s are distinctive for their creative
use. In 2003, Israeli vehicle manufacturer Hatehof
began retrofitting Ford
F550 trucks as armored personnel carriers. By 2016, Israel had moved
on to F350s, modified by
Israeli military electronics company Elbit Systems as autonomous
unmanned vehicles capable of remotely controlled fire.
Monsanto*
Along
with herbicides from the Dow Chemical Company and ADAMA Agricultural
Solutions, an Israeli unit of China’s state-owned National Chemical
Corporation (ChemChina), Israel sprays Bayer
subsidiary Monsanto’s notorious Glyphosate (marketed as Roundup), a
known human carcinogen, on Palestinian fields across its military
barrier with Gaza several times annually. As does its deployment of
Caterpillar bulldozers to level the same fields, the aerial
application, conducted by two civilian Israeli companies under
contract to the army, serves both Israeli economic and military
interests — preventing Palestinian self-sufficiency in agriculture,
while allowing its forces to easily detect and fire upon Palestinian
farmers and other civilians using their own land.
G4S
plc
Formerly
one of Israel’s biggest occupation contractors, G4S sold its
major Israeli subsidiary, G4S Israel, in 2016, but kept a
stake in the construction and operation of Policity, Israel’s
privatized national police academy. Israel claims that its police
enjoy civilian status, but routinely deploys them in military
operations against Palestinians in both the West Bank and the Gaza
Strip, including their use of both Combined System’s ‘Venon’
tear-gas launcher and weaponized drones to
repress the Great March of Return.
Hewlett
Packard
Now
three companies with interlocking operations — HP Inc., Hewlett
Packard Enterprise (HPE), and DXC Technology — HP equips the
Israeli military with computers and has undertaken contracts to
“virtualize” IDF operations, starting in 2007 with a pilot
program for the Israeli navy, which enforces the blockade of Gaza.
HSBC
Bank plc
HSBC provides extensive
financing to some of the most notorious military manufacturers in the
world, several of them Israeli.
“HSBC
holds over £800m worth of shares in, and is involved in syndicated
loans worth over £19b to, companies that sell weapons and military
equipment to the Israeli government,” Huda Ammori, campaigns
officer for the Palestine
Solidarity Campaign,
told MintPress.
“These investments include Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest
private security firm, which markets its weapons as ‘field-tested,’
due to them being tested on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.”
A
leading drone manufacturer, Elbit has played a key role in aerial
attacks on the Great March of Return.
Motorola
Solutions Inc.
Motorola provides the
encrypted smartphones the Israeli military uses to deploy soldiers,
as well as radio and communications services for the Israeli police.
Remington
Among
casualties of the Great March of Return, Amnesty
International reports,
some “wounds bear the hallmarks of U.S.-manufactured M24 Remington
sniper rifles shooting 7.62mm hunting ammunition, which expand and
mushroom inside the body,” along with others indicative of Israel
Weapon Industries’ Tavor rifles. “In the United States this is
sold as a hunting rifle to kill deer,” Brian Castner, a weapons
specialist for the human-rights organization, said in
April.
Dipping
Company, LLC
The
White Plains, New York-based food manufacturer, co-owned by PepsiCo
and Israeli foodmaker Strauss, has donated food
packages to the Israeli Army’s Golani Brigade, notorious for its
human-rights abuses in both Gaza and the West Bank.
“We
Must Channel Our Rage”
As
the Great March of Return, now in its 29th week, continues,
participants and supporters say targeting firms complicit in its
repression is one of the most effective means of solidarity.
“We
must channel our rage at Israel’s atrocities into effective actions
to hold Israel accountable,” the BDS National Committee said in
a statement on April 12. “Together, we can escalate Boycott,
Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns.”
“Israel
is meeting the Palestinian protesters with live fire, massacring over
190 Palestinians to date,” Ammori told MintPress.
“Israel’s racist discrimination and brutal violence is evident,
and the campaign to end complicity is vital.”

Het is

Ten
eerste is Israël sinds kort officieel een natiestaat, waar de rechten
van Joden ver gaan boven die van andere inwoners van dat gestolen
land (dat laatste komt er ook nog eens bij), ofwel Israël is een
apartheidsstaat……….. Ten tweede is de politiek in Israël zo corrupt als
de pest, waar de premier wel de kroon spant als het over corruptie
gaat, zelfs zijn vrouw is intussen aangeklaagd voor fraude…….
Ten
derde: als er één land is waar de mensenrechten op enorm schaal
worden geschonden is het Israël wel, oh nee wacht, de grote vriend van Israël en de VS, Saoedi-Arabië overtreft het nog net…. Dat land
werd overigens niet eens genoemd door Pompeo, die met zijn lulpraatje
Iran afschilderde als alles wat tegenovergesteld is aan Israël,
terwijl S-A ver boven Iran uittorend wat betreft dictatuur (dat is Iran niet eens), mensenrechtenschendingen en een land is dat niet alleen in eigen land minderheden als sjiieten bestrijdt, maar zelfs een genocide
uitvoert tegen de sjiieten in buurland Jemen……
Pompeo zwetste nog wat over de vrije pers in Israël, terwijl de reguliere media, ook in Israël, in de zakken zit van het grootkapitaal…….
Kortom
Pompeo zwetste voor de zoveelste keer uit zijn nek, wat een domme
leugenaar en hufter!! De hoogste tijd dat deze schoft terecht staat voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC)!!

Pompeo: The US Wants the Entire Middle East to Look Like Israel
(MEMO) — US
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said yesterday that “Israel is
everything we want the entire Middle East to look like going forward”
and that US-Israel relations are “stronger than ever”.
Speaking
at an award ceremony held by the Jewish Institute for National
Security of America in Washington DC, Pompeo hailed Israel as
“democratic and prosperous”, adding “it desires peace, it is a
home to a free press and a thriving economy,” Arutz
Sheva reported.
Pompeo
then compared Israel to Iran, citing the latter’s “corrupt
leaders [who] assault the human rights of their own people and
finance terrorism in every corner of the Middle East”. Pompeo
lamented that the US administration under former President Barack
Obama “had more respect for the leaders of Iran than it did for the
State of Israel,” stressing that
“Under
President Trump’s leadership, the United States is standing where
it should firmly be: On the side of Israel.”
Pompeo
also discussed the long-awaited US peace initiative – dubbed the
“deal of the century” – hailing it as a “truly historic”
effort to reach an agreement. Pompeo said that “we [the USA] are
very hopeful that one day the Palestinian people will have the same
kinds of things, the same material, the same opportunities that the
people of Israel have,” according to the Jerusalem
Post. Pompeo
added “We very much want you [the Palestinians] to have a space.”
Yet
the Secretary of State also admitted that despite this “hope” for
a Palestinian “space”, he had that same day denied a $165 million
transfer of aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) citing the PA’s
“funding of terror”. Pompeo was referring to the PA’s refusal
to adhere to US
demands to
cease so-called “martyr
payments”
to the families of those killed by Israeli occupation forces or those
incarcerated in Israeli prisons. Other countries have also put
pressure on the PA, with Israel enacting a law to withhold $130
million per month of tax revenue collected on behalf of the PA unless
it ceases these stipends and Australia cutting its
aid to the PA.
Though
US-Israel ties have historically been strong, under President Donald
Trump’s administration these ties have reached new heights. Last
week the largest ever US aid package to Israel – worth $38 billion
over 10 years – entered
into force.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between
the US and Israel in 2016 under the Obama Administration, but State
Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert hailed the deal as reflecting
“the enduring and unshakable commitment of the President [Trump],
this Administration, and the American people to Israel’s security”.
Trump
has also spearheaded the so-called “deal
of the century”,
a peace initiative he hopes will solve the decades-long situation in
Israel-Palestine. Last month the president expressed support
for the two-state solution for the first time since entering office.
He explained: “I like two-state solution. Yeah. That’s what I
think… that’s what I think works best. I don’t even have to
speak to anybody, that’s my feeling… I think two-state solution
works best.” Despite such attempts to appear even-handed, the US
has been criticised as
a dishonest broker in any peace negotiations, with many believing the
“deal of the century” will be biased towards
Israel and put Israel’s “security” before any measures
beneficial to the Palestinians.

oorlogsmisdadiger die als zijn collega’s en een groot deel van de Israëlische politici, al lang door het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) veroordeeld, voor het leven gevangen zou moeten zitten in
Scheveningen!
Buiten
de 198 vermoorden zijn er 22.000 Palestijnen (o.a. zwaar) gewond geraakt door de ongebreidelde terreur van de Israëlische psychopaten….. Onder de
gedode Palestijnse mensen overigens een aantal kinderen, invaliden, journalisten (alleen al de stilte daarover in de reguliere westerse pers is onverdraaglijk!) en medische hulpverleners (waaronder een arts)……..
Nogmaals,
daar er in de media amper aandacht aan werd en wordt besteed (als de
reguliere media er al over berichten….), deze Palestijnen werden niet op
gestolen Israëlisch, maar op Palestijns grondgebied vermoord,
ofwel de ‘heldhaftige’ Israëlische scherpschutters schieten op ongewapende Palestijnse mensen
over de grens met openluchtgevangenis Gazastrook…….. (wat deze laffe massamoord een extra smerige stank geeft…)
Uit wanhoop vanwege de uitzichtloze situatie laten Palestijnse jongeren, als de wind richting ‘Israëlisch grondgebied’ staat, vliegers en ballonnen op, met daaraan brandend materiaal. De fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël overweegt daarom de Gazastrook binnen te vallen en daar ‘orde op zaken te stellen’, ofwel middels grootschalige terreur de Gazastrook (zo mogelijk) nog verdere in puin te leggen (zo ongeveer de helft van de Gazastrook ligt al in puin, waar voorts een groot aantal gebouwen nog nauwelijks overeind staat..)….. Uiteraard zal dat weer met een massamoord op de weerloze Palestijnen gepaard gaan……
Eisenkot had nog het gore lef te zeggen, dat de moordenaars ook internationaal geëerd zouden moeten worden, daarop zou ik willen zeggen ‘wellicht iets voor het Nobelprijs comité….’ Immers dit comité heeft al eerder oorlogsmisdadigers de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede toegekend…….
De VN waarschuwt er intussen voor dat wanneer de situatie in de Gazastrook niet verandert binnen twee jaar, deze openluchtgevangenis onbewoonbaar zal worden. Een belachelijke constatering, daar de Gazastrook nu in feite al onbewoonbaar is, waar het de Palestijnse bewoners aan werkelijk alles ontbreekt en ze blij mogen zijn als ze twee uur per dag stroom hebben….. Water kan alleen nog mobiel worden aangevoerd daar de bronnen ofwel leeg zijn, dan wel zijn vernietigd door Israël….. (overigens krijgen Palestijnen niet langer toestemming om de Gazastrook te verlaten, ofwel de situatie is vergelijkbaar met het getto van Warschau ten tijde van WOII…. Het grote verschil met Warschau vormt de temperatuur die in de Gazaanse zomer regelmatig oploopt tot 40 graden Celsius, of zelfs nog hoger en dat met een tekort aan water en elektriciteit…..)

Gives Award to Israeli Snipers for Deadly Crackdown on Unarmed
Protesters
(MPN) — The
chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Gadi
Eisenkot, awarded the
IDF’s Gaza Division with a “certificate of appreciation” for
contributing to “Israel’s security” by brutally suppressing
protests, ongoing since March in the Palestinian enclave.
The
controversial award was given as the number of unarmed Gazan
demonstrators wounded by the IDF since March 30 surpassed 22,000
while the number of those killed by the IDF over that same time frame
reached 198. Since “Operation
Protective Edge”
in 2014, the IDF’s Gaza Division has sustained one single fatality.
A
statement released by the IDF spokesperson on Wednesday stated:
“The
Gaza Division is dealing with a variety of threats, against which it
stands strong, while showing determination, creativity and wisdom. It
is working night and day to defend the residents of the South.”
During
the award ceremony, which took place at the Gaza Division’s
headquarters in Re’im, Eisenkot told
those assembled:
“Over
the past six months you have dealt with terror attacks, attempts to
violate our sovereignty and various terror activities under the guise
of popular protests involving women, children and adults.”
Eisenkot
added that the division had “acted responsibly and professionally
in a complex reality” and deserved “international recognition”
for its efforts.
Though
commonly described by the corporate Western media as “clashes,”
the protests in Gaza involve heavily-armed Israeli snipers firing
into crowds of unarmed young Palestinians. Those killed by IDF fire
include journalists, medics and children. IDF soldiers are under
orders to
shoot protesters who get “too close” to the border fence.
“No
Innocent People”
The
brutal nature of the repression led Israel Defense Minister Avigdor
Lieberman to assert that there are no “innocent
people”
in Gaza, despite the Strip being home to one million adolescents and
children; and Israel Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked to
claim that
the only way for the Gaza border to be “completely quiet” would
be for Israel “to conquer the Strip.”
Warnings
have emerged periodically over the past year that the IDF is
preparing to “conquer” Gaza. Earlier this year in July, the IDF
stated that if “incendiary balloons” and similar objects continue
to cross the Gaza-Israel border, Israel may decide it has “no
choice” but to embark on a military campaign intended to “conquer
all of Gaza,” according to a report that aired on Israel’s
Channel 10 News on Tuesday and was cited
by the Times
of Israel.
This warning was followed by a major IDF drill practicing “securing
control” over Gaza.
In
February,
Eisenkot stated that another Israeli invasion of Gaza was “likely”
to occur this year. Eisenkot ironically
framed the
imminent invasion as a way to “prevent a humanitarian collapse”
in Gaza, suggesting that military action against Gazan civilians and
infrastructure would somehow improve the daily lives of the Strip’s
inhabitants.
The
dire situation in Gaza is widely believed to be nearing a dangerous
climax, with the vast majority of Gazan drinking water being
non-potable and the UN warning that the entire Strip will
be uninhabitable in
less than two years. The increasingly troubling humanitarian
situation in Gaza is largely the result of Israel’s blockade of the
enclave, now in its 11th year.

Het dorp Khan al-Ahmar moet door de bewoners gesloopt worden (inclusief een school voor 170 kinderen) en dat moest voor 1 oktober gebeuren, zo verordonneerde het Israëlische hooggerechtshof, waar men al lang niet meer weet wat rechtspreken inhoudt…… De Israëlische kolonisten van een naburig dorp hebben hun riolering omgelegd zodat de stront de Bedoeïenen bij wijze van spreken tot de lippen staat….. Wat een ongelofelijk stel inhumane schoften, beter gezegd fascisten, gvd!!

Woestijnen
en valleien van Israël
In
het zuiden van Israël vind je de woestijn Negev, wat in
het Hebreeuws letterlijk ‘de droge’ betekent. De woestijn ligt aan de
Dode Zee en vormt slechts een klein deel van de enorme woestijnstrook
die zich uitstrekt door het hele land. Je kunt hier op een
ontdekkingstocht een buitengewone nacht beleven in de woestijn. Ook
kun je de vallei Wadi
Rum ontdekken
tijdens een jeeptocht in Israël. Deze vallei met haar rotswanden van
zandsteen en graniet is het toneel voor een onvergetelijke excursie.
Ook de graftombes van de Nabateeërs en de wandschilderingen die u
tijdens uw jeeptocht kunt verwachten zijn absoluut de moeite van het
bekijken waard. De zon weerspiegelt in de lagune van Eilat.
