PFAS vergiftiging grondwater in delen van Californië

WorldBeyond War (WBW) brengt o.a. een artikel waarin het leger van de VS
wordt aangewezen als schuldige voor PFAS vergiftigingen van
waterbronnen, iets waar wij in Nederland wat betreft de PFAS crisis
geen of veel te weinig aandacht voor hebben gehad, immers de niet afbreekbare PFAS chemicaliën belanden uiteindelijk in het grondwater en het is maar de vraag of de
waterzuiveringsinstallaties deze verontreiniging kunnen verwijderen
uit het water dat wij drinken……

In
Californië zoals gezegd vervuiling door jarenlange oefening met
foute blusvloeistoffen/poeders door het Amerikaanse leger, dat zo
nogmaals en geheel ten overvloede nog eens laat zien, dat het niet
alleen in het buitenland, maar ook binnenlands terreur
uitoefent……

Nog een
‘mooi feitje’: ook de PFAS vergiftiging van grond in ons land is voor
een fiks deel terug te brengen op een blusvloeistof/poeder, waar al
in de 70er jaren van de vorige eeuw over bekend was dat ze o.a. kanker veroorzaken, ofwel ook in Nederland moet men hebben
beseft dat deze stoffen gevaarlijk zijn voor de volksgezondheid (uit het
artikel van WBW blijkt dat men dit inderdaad al in de 70er jaren
wist!!!)…. Toch is men in de VS gewoon doorgegaan met het gebruikt
van deze stoffen en hetzelfde moet hier zijn gebeurd……..

In het
artikel van WBW dat ik overnam wordt m.n. over 1 plek in Californië
bericht, echter daar zijn veel meer van deze plakken te vinden, waar
het grondwater al is verontreinigd met een aantal gevaarlijke PFAS
chemicaliën en zoals de schrijver van het artikel terecht opmerkt:
alle chemicaliën in PFAS zijn gevaarlijk!! (zie ook de lijst met aandoeningen in het artikel hieronder, aandoeningen die je over kan houden aan PFAS inname of anders gezegd: vergiftiging met PFASchemicaliën) 

In Nederland passen we nu de normen aan, zodat er meer PFAS chemicaliën in de grond mogen zitten als men deze grond wil verplaatsen of op andere manier wil gebruiken……* Te zot voor woorden en levensgevaarlijk!

The groundwater in Victorville
and throughout much of California is contaminated with PFAS, the
“forever chemicals.”

On September 10, 2018 the Lahontan
Regional Water Board tested
the well water of
the home owned by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Culberton located at 18399
Shay Road in Victorville, California. The water was found to contain
high levels of 25 separate PFAS chemicals, several that are known to
be human carcinogens. Culberton’s home is a few hundred feet from
the eastern boundary of the shuttered George Air Force Base.

Culberton declined to be
interviewed so we’ll rely on the public record. The letter he
received from the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board on
February 11, 2019 states:

“Based on the Air Force’s
interview with you, we understand that you and your tenant use
bottled water as your water source, and this well is being used only
for irrigation purposes. 

 The comparison of the combined PFOS and PFOA
concentration with USEPA’s concentration level (see the table
below) suggests that this well water may not be suitable for human
consumption as it exceeds the lifetime HA level.”

The house next door, located at
18401
Shay Road, was found to have a similarly contaminated well. The
property was sold on June 19, 2018 to Matthew Arnold Villarreal as
sole owner. The transfer took place three months before the well was
tested by the water board. Villarreal is the Water Supply Supervisor
of the City of Victorville Water Department. 

The level of
contaminants of other private wells in the vicinity of George AFB is
unknown.

George Air Force Base, which shut
down in 1992, used aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) in routine fire
training exercises, along with nearly 50 other bases in the state.
Per- and poly fluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are the active
ingredient in the foams, which were allowed to leach into groundwater
and surface water.

Despite knowing since the 1970’s
that the practice threatened human health, the military continues to
use the chemicals at installations in the U.S. and around the world.

Groundwater collected on September
19, 2018 at Production
Well Adelanto 4 Victorville, near the intersection of Turner Road
and Phantom East, also showed the presence of dangerous levels of
various PFAS chemicals. The notice from the Lahontan Regional Water
Quality Control Board (RWQCB) was addressed to: Ray Cordero, Water
Superintendent, City of Adelanto, Water Department.

According to the October, 2005
George AFB Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) Adjournment Report,
groundwater plumes containing contaminants had not

migrated into drinking water wells
or in the Mojave River. “The drinking water in the community
continues to be safe for consumption,” according to the final
report.

People in the community have likely
been drinking poisoned water for two generations. Restoration
Advisory Boards have
been criticized for trivializing severe environmental
contamination caused by the military while serving to track and
contain community resistance.

Culberton’s water puts the PFAS
epidemic into perspective. The following chart is taken from the
water board’s letter to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Culberton:

The 25 PFAS compounds found in the
Culberton well totaled 940 parts per trillion (ppt.) 

Neither the
federal government nor the state of California track or regulate
contamination in private wells. Meanwhile, public health scientists
have warned of the cumulative effect of these carcinogens. The
nation’s top public health officials say 1 ppt of PFAS in drinking
water is potentially dangerous. The NIH’s National Library of
Medicine provides a brilliant search
engine that provides the toxicological effects of the
contaminants above, along with others regularly found in our drinking
water and environment.

Many of the substances are harmful
if they come into contact with the skin. Simply click on the link to
the NIH site above to begin the process of investigating the
disastrous impacts on human health. Some of these chemicals are used
with pesticides as the active ingredient for ant bait traps. In
addition, many PFAS chemicals described above either cause or
contribute to the following conditions:

  • Alterations
    in thyroid hormone levels, especially in in aging populations

  • Death
    from cerebrovascular disease

  • Increased
    serum cholesterol and triglycerides levels

  • Positive
    association between PFAS levels and ADHD

  • Maternal
    PFAS levels in early pregnancy were associated with smaller
    abdominal circumference and birth length.

  • Polycystic
    Ovary Syndrome

  • Positive
    association between the maternal concentrations of PFOA and the
    number of episodes of common cold for the children

  • Increased
    episodes of gastroenteritis.

  • Mutations
    of DNA

  • Increased
    levels of prostate, liver and kidney cancer

  • Liver
    and brain dysfunction

  • Airway
    inflammation and altered airway function

  • Male
    reproductive disorders

  • Hypoactive response to
    nicotine

At the risk of beating the dead
horse mutagen, two of the most prevalent PFAS contaminants in
Culberton’s water – PFHxS (540 ppt) and PFHxA (72 ppt) are
extraordinarily present in California’s municipal water wells used
for drinking water. Neither the federal government nor the state seem
too concerned with these contaminants. Instead, they’re fixated on
just two of the 6,000 types of PFAS chemicals – PFOS & PFOA –
which are no longer produced or used.

On February 6, 2020 the California
State Water Resources Control Board (CSWRCB) lowered its “Response Level”
to 10 parts per trillion (ppt) for PFOA and 40 ppt for PFOS. If a
water system exceeds the response levels for these carcinogens, the
system is required to take the water source out of service or provide
public notification within 30 days of the confirmed detection.
Meanwhile, of the 568 wells tested by the state in 2019 164 were
found to contain PFHxS and 111 contained PFHxA.

Specifically, PFHxS has been
detected in umbilical cord blood and is transmitted to the embryo to
a larger extent than what is reported for PFOS. Prenatal exposure to
PFHxS is associated with occurrence of infectious diseases, such as
ottis media, pneumonia, RS virus, and varicella in early life.

PFHxA exposure may be associated
with Gilbert Syndrome, a genetic liver disorder, although the
material has not been widely studied. The following charts detail the
state’s water systems with the highest levels of PFHxS and PFHxS in
wells used for drinking water, based on the very limited 2019 data:

Uit een
Duitse studie blijkt dat kleuters onverantwoord grote hoeveelheden
microplastics in hun lichaam hebben…… Het gaat hier om
perfluorooctanoic
acid (PFOA) een uiterst giftige stof die
o.a. gebruikt wordt om zaken waterdicht te maken….. De hoeveelheden
worden vreemd genoeg hoger in kleinere kinderen. In 2020 zou er een wereldwijde ban op deze stof worden ingesteld, echter de EU, China en Iran hebben een uitzondering gemaakt voor het gebruik van deze stof en dan in ‘medisch textiel….’ Ach ja, de EU een organisatie die zich vooral inzet voor bedrijven en welgestelden, waar men het hele jaar door de deur wagenwijd heeft openstaan voor bedrijfslobbyisten……

Kinderen
uit arme gezinnen hebben grotere hoeveelheden van PFOA’s in het lichaam dan ‘de
beter gesitueerde kinderen’. Een deel van de wetenschap stelt dat
deze vergiftiging (wat het in feite is) gevolgen zal hebben voor de
rest van het leven van deze kinderen, zo worden vooral lever en voortplantingsorganen beschadigd door deze giftige troep……

Overigens C8 zoals PFOA ook wordt aangeduid , wordt in het lichaam van pasgeboren kinderen gevonden……. (zie de Twitterberichten aan het eind van het hieronder weergegeven artikel) Deze stof zou voorts in de bloedbaan van 99% van de VS bevolking zijn te vinden……

Overigens
is het al lang bekend dat iedereen microplastics in het lichaam
heeft, waar organisaties als het RIVM van zeggen dat het geen kwaad
kan, maar ja dat zegt men daar ook van heel veel gifstoffen die worden
gebruikt in de groente- en fruitteelt……. Alsof men bij het RIVM niet weet dat stoffen zich stapelen in het lichaam….. Anders gezegd: al die beetjes en cocktails van chemische stoffen bij elkaar opgeteld zullen uiteindelijk toch een duidelijk negatief effect hebben op ons
functioneren en onze gezondheid……. Ofwel we worden weer belazerd met
de dooddoener: slaapt u gerust verder….. Het RIVM is er dan ook voornamelijk om onrust onder de bevolking te voorkomen en regeringsstandpunten te legitimeren, standpunten waarmee giftigheid van allerlei stoffen en voedsel wordt gebagatelliseerd…….. Het geld gaat immers altijd ver voor op de volksgezondheid……

Plastic
by-products were found in an alarming 97-100% of blood and urine
samples from 2,500 children tested between 2014 and 2017,
according to a new study by the German Environment Ministry and the
Robert Koch Institute.

the German weekly magazine, published the
findings Saturday, which were part of a federal study focused on
“human biomonitoring” of 3 to 17-year-olds. Traces
from 11 out of 15 plastic ingredients were found in the test
samples.

“Our
study clearly shows that plastic ingredients, which are rising in
production, are also showing up more and more in the body. It is
really worrying that the youngest children are most affected as the
most sensitive group,” Marike Kolossa-Gehring, one of the
study’s authors, told the magazine.

Researchers
said that they were especially concerned about high levels of
perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) that were found in the study. PFOA is
an extremely persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic chemical
frequently used in non-stick cookware and in waterproof clothing.

In
20 percent of those examined, they were above the limit, in the
younger children, the proportion was even higher. The study also
showed children from poorer families had more plastic residue in
their bodies than children from higher-income families, according to
German public broadcaster ARD

“It
can not be that every fourth child between the ages of three and five
is so heavily burdened with chemicals that long-term damage cannot be
reliably ruled out,” says (Bettina*) Hoffmann. “The Federal Government
must make every effort to protect people from harmful chemicals,”
says Hoffmann, “Provision is an obligation.”

The
chemical is dangerous for the reproductive system and is
toxic to the liver. While a global ban of perfluorooctanoic acid is
to take effect in 2020, a group of international NGOs has criticized
the EU for requiring an exemption for medical textiles from a global
ban on the use of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) agreed at the UN
Conference of the Parties (COPs) last May.

In
a statement, NGOs, including the Health and Environment Alliance
(HEAL), Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) and Arnika, expressed “deep
regret and disapproval” for the request, which could “undermine
an otherwise effective worldwide ban.

“Delegates
from more than 180 countries agreed the prohibition of the use of the
chemical, adding it to Annex III of the Stockholm Convention at the
conference in Geneva. However, several exemptions for the substance,
including one for medical textiles, were requested by the EU
delegation – along with China and Iran – and approved.

The
new German research was made available by the government upon request
by a Green Party inquiry into the effects of chemicals on public
health.

Hoffmann
said that there has not been enough research on how plastic
chemicals affect the body, and how they are ingested.


The
results of the study also show an increase in exposure to substitutes
for previously banned chemicals. Hoffmann sees this as a critical
signal: Substances that are classified as dangerous should not be
replaced by similar chemicals with likewise questionable properties,
she says. In addition, it must be better researched, which entry
routes chemicals enter the human body, the Green politician told Der
Spiegel.
The results of the study include, for example, the exposure to
substances contained in cosmetics, children’s toys or medical
devices.

Remco Dijkstra (VVD) over lozing kankerverwekkend GenX: “Risicoloos bestaat niet…”

VVD onderknuppel Dijkstra was afgelopen vrijdag op BNR te horen (na 8.30 u.) over wat je gerust het ‘GenX schandaal’ kan noemen*. Terwijl men wist, dat er in GenX zeer waarschijnlijk kankerverwekkende stoffen zitten, mocht deze troep gewoon worden geloosd op de Merwede, een rivier waaruit water wordt gehaald t.b.v. de drinkwatervoorziening voor een deel van Zuid-Holland……..

Dat de fabriek Chemours (voorheen DuPont) de lozing van GenX heeft teruggebracht naar 30% van de oorspronkelijke hoeveelheid geloosde kankertroep, vindt Dijkstra verantwoord…… Verantwoord, hoewel Dijkstra NB zelf aangeeft, dat onderdelen van GenX kankerverwekkend kunnen zijn……… GenX bestaat uit een combinatie van stoffen, waarvan er 2 naar grote waarschijnlijkheid kankerverwekkend zijn, één van die stoffen is FRD 903……

Dijkstra liet weten, dat ‘risicoloos’ niet bestaat, iets dat de neoliberale BNR rollade van Werven, de presentator, met grote graagte beaamde……… Nee, risicoloos bestaat niet, zeker niet als een falende overheid met een lobbykabinet bedrijven toestaat stoffen te lozen, terwijl men zelfs niet eens weet, wat de gevaren van een stof zijn, sterker nog zelfs toestaat dat mogelijk kankerverwekkende stoffen geloosd mogen worden ………

Het RIVM steekt een natte vinger in de lucht, als een bedrijf rotzooi wil lozen en stelt aan de hand van dat ‘vingeronderzoek’ vast, welke hoeveelheid men van bepaalde troep in het milieu mag lozen……. In 2010 werd de productie ter hand genomen van GenX en vanaf 2013 kreeg Chemours toestemming deze letterlijke kankerzooi te lozen…….  Het RIVM over GenX: “Op basis van de beperkt beschikbare informatie wordt verondersteld dat deze stof waarschijnlijk minder schadelijk is dan PFOA….**” ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

‘Beperkt beschikbare informatie’ en ‘waarschijnlijk minder schadelijk’ (voor de volksgezondheid), daarmee gaf het RIVM haar zegen aan de lozingen van Chemours. Het RIVM stelt verder onderzoek te doen naar GenX, maar dat onderzoek is gericht op de schade voor het milieu……. Hoe is het mogelijk dat het RIVM, dat in feite zelf aangeeft niet te weten hoe groot de schadelijkheid van GenX is, geen verder onderzoek doet, naar juist de schadelijkheid voor de mens, terwijl er deskundigen zijn, die nu al stellen, dat GenX kankerverwekkend moet zijn, en daarmee stellen dat GenX daadwerkelijk kankerverwekkend is…….

Bovendien is al helemaal niet bekend, hoe schadelijk GenX op de lange termijn is. Het gaat hier ook om de combinatie van de onderdelen waaruit GenX bestaat (waaronder zoals gezegd naar grote waarschijnlijkheid kankerverwekkende stoffen), wat doet combinatie zowel op de korte, als (alweer) op de lange termijn……..

Overigens,dat er ook grote schade voor het milieu zal zijn, lijkt me niet moeilijk te raden, als bijvoorbeeld de mens al kanker kan krijgen van GenX zullen vissen en zoogdieren die dit water binnenkrijgen op zeker ziek worden…….. Uiteraard komt het RIVM straks met het bericht dat GenX geen kwaad kan voor het milieu, het is immers de taak van het RIVM de belangen van het bedrijfsleven te behartigen en niet die van de burgers of het milieu in dit land (de burgers die feitelijk voor het RIVM betalen via de belastingen)……..

Van die toestemming tot lozing is nu dus nog 30% over, terwijl men nog steeds niet weet, wat de verdere consequenties van lozing op de lange termijn zullen zijn………. M.a.w. hoe heeft het RIVM ooit haar toestemming kunnen geven?? Nogmaals: het lijkt goddomme wel of het RIVM lobbyt voor het (chemische) bedrijfsleven, i.p.v. de volksgezondheid te bewaken……..

‘Risicoloos bestaat niet’, zeker als de overheid haar taak niet uitvoert en waar misdadigers partij VVD (en een groot deel van de andere partijen) de belangen van de bedrijven behartigt, i.p.v. het volk te dienen, wat de werkelijke taak is van een volksvertegenwoordiging!! Het is met Dijkstra als met de zwaar disfunctionerende VVD boef Opstelten, deze durfde keihard te zeggen, dat hij als minister van Veiligheid en Justitie niet geïnteresseerd was in veiligheid, maar in het gevoel van veiligheid bij de bevolking………

Wat is het probleem? Waarom kan Chemours niet verplicht worden, deze tyfuszooi op een normale manier op te vangen en elders te laten vernietigen????

** PFOA is de stof die eerder door Chemours (DuPont) werd gebruikt voor het maken van de anti-aanbaklaag Teflon, deze stof bleek zwaar kankerverwekkend te zijn…… GenX is waarschijnlijk al even kankerverwekkend en is daarnaast nog moeilijker uit het water te filteren dan PFOA………..

Veiligheid? En hoe zit het dan met chemische gifstoffen als GenX in drinkwater???

De Vereniging van Waterbedrijven in Nederland, de Vewin, heeft een paar dagen geleden alarm geslagen over de lozing van chemische stoffen in rivieren als de Merwede, een rivier die wordt gebruikt voor de inname van water voor de drinkwatervoorziening. Met name de stof GenX baart grote zorgen, deze stof is de vervanging voor het eerdere kankerverwekkende PFOA en wordt gebruikt voor de anti-aanbaklaag in teflon pannen.

Zoals gebruikelijk stelt het RIVM dat de geloosde hoeveelheden binnen de norm vallen, alsof het normaal is dat zwaar gif op het oppervlakte water wordt geloosd…… Dan nog: dit GenX is pas een paar jaar op de markt, hoe kan een overheidsinstelling als het RIVM dan stellen, dat het in bepaalde hoeveelheden lozen van deze tyfuszooi zonder gevaar is, immers over de effecten van minieme inname van hoeveelheden GenX op de lange termijn is (nu nog) niets bekend. Zo heeft Hendrik Ido Ambacht grote kritiek op de provincie Zuid-Holland, daar die nu pas een onderzoek laat doen naar de effecten van GenX op drinkwater……

Het is dan ook duidelijk: voor de zoveelste keer bewijst uw overheid schijt te hebben aan uw gezondheid, ‘geld verdienen is nu eenmaal veel belangrijker, logisch toch…’ En dan nog durven zeggen, dat echte veiligheid garanderen door de overheid niet mogelijk is……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Nee, zeker niet als je toestaat dat er zwaar gif vrijelijk mag worden geloosd………

De provincie, het waterschap en Rijkswaterstaat bepalen samen of er een vergunning kan worden afgegeven, waar de risicobepaling voor het drinkwater en daarmee uw gezondheid het kind van de rekening is…… Vewin vindt het de taak van Rijkswaterstaat om duidelijke regels te stellen, zij hebben de taak en de expertise om te bepalen wat de effecten zijn van lozingen met chemische afval op drinkwater……..

Annemarie van Wezel van KWR ‘Water Research’, stelt dat GenX in 2010 is geproduceerd en dat het vanaf 2013 in Nederland wordt geloosd. Zij stelt dat GenX in feite een slechte vervanger is voor het eerder genoemde kankerverwekkende PFOA……… Van Wezel stelt dat GenX veel beter in water oplost en de stof derhalve veel moeilijker uit het drinkwater is te filteren, m.a.w. de waterbedrijven worden ook nog eens op kosten gejaagd*, daar uw overheid lak heeft aan de veiligheid van het drinkwater in Nederland……….. Van Wezel stelt dat de techniek om GenX uit het water te zuiveren wel bestaat, maar dat deze uiterst kostbaar is….

Totdat de overheid ingrijpt, mag u dus ‘gewoon’ een dosis GenX drinken, ook al kan men onmogelijk in zo’n korte tijd alle gevaren bepalen, die deze stof op uw gezondheid heeft, voor de langere termijn geldt dit nog sterker………

Overigens worden er jaarlijks een groot aantal chemische stoffen ontwikkeld, die worden toegelaten, maar waarvan men niet weet welk effect die hebben op de gezondheid van mens en dier, plus het effect op natuur en milieu……. Te zot voor woorden, dat men die stoffen toelaat, vaak gevaarlijke stoffen, zonder de effecten van die stoffen op mens, dier, natuur en milieu te kennen……

Zo worden we dag in dag uit besodemieterd door onze eigen overheid, terwijl we juist belasting betalen voor een zekere vorm van veiligheid!!!

Tijd dat AIVD sufferd Bertholee de bevolking gaat waarschuwen voor alle gevaarlijke stoffen in water en lucht. Bijvoorbeeld door de uitstoot van auto’s overlijden jaarlijks rond de 18.000 mensen vroegtijdig (na een akelig ziekbed), als ik me niet vergis is het aantal slachtoffers dat door terreur valt in ons land, ‘iets lager’ dan 18.000 per jaar………

* Kosten die u en ik mogen dragen via de belasting en dat daar de bedrijven, die dikke winsten maken o.a. door gebruikmaking van gevaarlijke stoffen, deze letterlijke kankerzooi ‘gewoon’ mogen lozen……..
