Weer zo’n bericht waarbij je omvalt en denkt hoe is het in godsnaam mogelijk: BBC World Service radio berichtte afgelopen woensdag in het nieuws van 17.00 u. (CET), dat EU-lidstaten vluchtelingen terugstuurt, recht de hel in.
De VN Vluchtelingenorganisatie (UNHCR) heeft de EU opgeroepen geen vluchtelingen terug te sturen naar Libië, waar de UNHCR uiteraard de afzonderlijk EU lidstaten bedoelt…..
Ofwel: EU lidstaten sturen mensen terug de Libische hel in, een hel waar een leven niets waard is, waar openlijke slavenmarkten worden gehouden, waar mensen worden vermoord om niets, of omdat familie geen geld meer heeft om familie vrij te kopen die onder erbarmelijke omstandigheden gevangen worden gehouden in Libië…….
Volgens de UNHCR worden alle vluchtelingen die teruggestuurd worden naar Libië, daar vastgezet in provisorische gevangenissen en zwaar mishandeld…….
Benieuwd of Nederland ook Libiërs terugstuurt, de vraag stellen is haar beantwoorden: ondanks dat Nederland een negatief reisadvies afgeeft voor Libië, zouden vluchtelingen daar veilig zijn zo loog en liegt Buitenlandse Zaken in haar ambtsberichten………
Vergeet niet dat de EU-lidstaten schijt hebben aan het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag, dat wordt alleen geëerbiedigd als er geen vluchtelingen zijn…… Ook middels de Turkije deal zitten hele gevluchte gezinnen in provisorische gevangenissen….* Door het smerige, fascistoïde vluchtelingenbeleid van de EU en dat van de afzonderlijke lidstaten, is in feite massamoord gepleegd op de duizenden vluchtelingen die in de woestijn of de Middellandse-Zee omkwamen, nogmaals mensen die op de vlucht waren geslagen voor ellende die het westen heeft veroorzaakt….. Je moet je kapot schamen dat je tot het westen behoort, wat een geteisem…..
EU using Israel drones to track migrant boats in the Med en uiterst verontrustend artikel waarin de EU wordt beschuldigd van het gebruik van Israëlische drones, die Frontex, Italië en de EU gebruiken om o.a. bootjes met vluchtelingen te spotten waarna de Libische autoriteiten worden gewaarschuwd, of om zoals hierboven al door mij geschreven, schepen worden uitgestuurd om bootjes met vluchtelingen terug te slepen naar de Libische kust, waarna deze mensen in door de EU betaalde concentratiekampen verdwijnen….. (‘leve de EU!’)

Al
een paar jaar wordt er in ‘links-liberale’ en neoliberale kringen
gesuggereerd dat positief denken mensen uit de armoede kan
trekken…… Een ‘lekker gevoel gedachte’, waarmee men de smerige handen schoonwast en weer snel aan
de prosecco gaat, of de nog meer welgestelden onder hen aan de champagne gaan.
Uiteraard is dat positivisme gelul van een dronken aardbei, hetzelfde geldt voor het verhogen van
de tabaksprijs, waar men doodleuk beweert dat arme mensen zullen stoppen met roken en zo geld zullen besparen, iets dat uiteraard niet zal gebeuren. Om te kunnen stoppen met
roken moet je goed in je vel zitten en niet in diepe financiële ellende, dat smoort elke motivatie om te stoppen in de kiem….
Intussen is de tabaksprijs op een schunnig hoog niveau, waar de pleitbezorgers van prijsverhogingen worden gelogenstraft met het feit dat het aantal rokers al een paar jaar gelijk blijft en veel rokers onder de radar blijven, daar ze illegale (goedkope) sigaretten roken….. (bij elke prijsverhoging verdient de georganiseerde misdaad kapitalen extra aan sigarettensmokkel en het fabriceren van tabak buiten overheidstoezicht… Zo zijn er in Nederland al 2 illegale sigarettenfabrieken gesloten…)
Let wel: het gaat bij rokers om
een verslaving, door artsen en wetenschappers aangeduid als een ziekte….. Deze chronisch zieken hebben vanwege de financiële problemen geen controle over hun leven, iets dat wordt versterkt door de volgende zaken: -werkloosheid (ook meteen te hoge leeftijd, wat al begint na het 45ste levensjaar), –chronische ziekten, -invaliditeit of -een veel te laag pensioen, waardoor deze groepen bij god niet
weten hoe ze de volgende dag de touwtjes weer aan elkaar moeten zien te knopen……
Lees
het volgende artikel en laat je nooit weer wijsmaken dat je met
positiviteit de wereld kan veranderen, helaas een lullig sprookje en waar welgestelden denken deze onzin op te kunnen leggen aan degenen die aan de
grond zitten, zou je deze welgestelden moeten vervolgen voor oplichting en
haatzaaien (tegen die arme mensen…)….. Immers als je een dergelijk
idee oppert stel je meteen dat arme mensen zelf schuldig zijn aan hun
armoede en te bedonderd zijn om iets van hun leven te maken, terwijl
ze nu en later de middelen eenvoudig niet hebben om uit de stront te
komen!
Intussen
hoop ik dat dit soort welgestelde figuren en anderen die deze leugen verspreiden, zelf geheel aan de grond komen te
zitten (en er nooit weer uitkomen) en dan de rest van hun leven met dit soort ‘positieve’
kul worden bestookt…. Deze figuren vind je in het bedrijfsleven, de politiek >> veel VVD, CDA, D66, CU en SGP politici, voorts onder de ‘journalisten’ van regeringsgetrouwe reguliere media, die deze smerige leugens helpen verkondigen…….
Om terug te komen op het begin van dit bericht: de welgestelden hebben wel belang bij positief denken, daarmee kunnen ze hun schuldgevoel over de financiële ellende bij de grote onderlaag wegwerken en hun handen in onschuld wassen…….. Waar de welgestelden op jaarbasis nog steeds rond de 20 miljard euro aan belasting ontduiken, geld waarmee je het arme deel van de bevolking wel ‘positief’ kan beïnvloeden…… (het arme deel van de bevolking bestaat in Nederland uit zo’n 4 miljoen mensen die tegen, op, of onder de armoedegrens moeten leven……)
Why
Positive Thinking Won’t Get You Out of Poverty
To
say that poor people don’t have enough hope, tenacity and
aspiration is to deny their agency as well as the size of the
structural odds they face.
(OD Op-ed) — In
a recent article
in the New York Times,
the development economist Seema Jayachandran discusses three studies
that used Randomised Controlled Trials (or RCTs) to
understand the benefits of enhancing the self-worth of poor
people. Despite wide differences in context, all the cases explore
the viability of ‘modest interventions’ to ‘instill hope’ in
marginalised communities, concluding that ‘remarkable improvements’
in the quest for poverty reduction are possible.
One
of the studies from
Uganda, for example, argues that “a role model can have significant
effects on students’ educational attainment,” so the suggestion
for policy-makers might be “to place more emphasis on motivation
and inspiration through example.”Another case
study of sex workers in Kolkata Brothels argues
that “psychological barriers impede such disadvantaged groups from
breaking the vicious circle and achieving better outcomes in life,”
so small but effective changes that address these psychological
constraints can alleviate the effects of poverty and social
exclusion.
The
underlying theme of these studies is that individuals can surmount
the structural challenges of poverty through their own efforts using
tools like ‘effective role models,’ the generation of ‘more
hope,’ and the ‘improvement of their mental health.’ Positive
psychology of this kind and an emphasis on behavior change to meet
the goals of individuals have been around at least since the 1950s,
first in the popular literature of self-help books and now in
academia, where they form part of an increasingly fashionable trend
to ‘do poverty reduction differently.’
The
push for rebranding
refugees as ‘entrepreneurs’ follows
the same logic. In the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, the UN Refugee
Agency (UNHCR) and TEDx hosted an event to showcase the personal
narratives of refugees. The resulting talk was designed to highlight
the role of positive thinking in overcoming adversity, with the harsh
realities of being a refugee and resorting to extreme survival skills
portrayed through the lens of individual motivation. The implicit
assumption was that positive attitudes could determine better
opportunities in life.
This
trend relies on RCTs as the key methodological tool to prove its
case, a technique born out of an increasing focus in economics on the
behaviour of individuals and the use of computing power to process
enormous amounts of data in econometric analyses. RCTs are supposed
to provide “evidence-based”
answers that form a scientific basis for policy-making. In reality
however, they have some serious limitations.
An RCT
is an evaluation technique that draws from experimental design in
order to measure the impact of a development project. As the name
suggests, the process is based on a selection of a ‘random’ or
unspecified distribution of people or communities who are subjected
to a trial or an experiment. The proponents of this method suggest
that it is possible to measure the impact of an intervention and
attribute a causal relationship between the intervention and its
outcomes when compared to a ‘control group’ who are not
included—a worrying feature in and of itself because people in that
group may be denied the essentials of a decent life if they are only
provided to those who participate in the trials.
According
to Esther
Duflo,
the top five journals in economics published 21 articles on
development in 2000, none of which represented this methodology; by
2015 there were 32 such articles, of which 10 were
RCTs. Researchers Sophie
Webber and Carolyn Prouse go
so far as to say that RCTs have become the new ‘gold standard’
in development economics, so it comes as no surprise that
poverty has started to be studied in the context of this
new framework.
Poverty
alleviation, however, is a hugely complex subject that touches on the
strengthening of institutions, the health of governance, the
structure and dynamics of markets, the workings of social classes,
macroeconomic policies, distribution, international integration and
many other issues, none of which can be replicated from one context
to another. That means that analyses of poverty have to be based on a
critical examination of processes and actors that cannot be
‘controlled’ against—thus violating the principle of RCTs.
Recent
developments in economics have failed to account for these
fundamental determinants of poverty. Instead, the success of
RCTs can be narrowed down to essentially statistical arguments
that seek to identify ‘what works’ and ‘which interventions’
should therefore be employed to improve the lives of the poor.
In such processes, the focus tends towards the individual or the
household and (initially at least) to the design of small changes
that are supposed to enable them to exit poverty, although eventually
the ‘scaling up’ of interventions might also occur. Akin to the
‘nudge’ approach that has been popularised by Cass
Sunstein and Richard Thaler,
the idea is that people’s choices can be shaped to allow them to
escape from poverty and dispossession.
As
a consequence, this approach individualises the ‘problem’
of poverty whilst failing to acknowledge, contextualize, highlight or
analyse the structures, institutions and actors that actually make
and keep some people poor. For example, the idea that role
models can be effective in changing people’s behaviour, emotions
and self-concepts isn’t new; what’s new is the belief that these
aspirations can lift people out of poverty without broader changes in
politics, social structures and institutions. Returning to the
brothels of Kolkata, advocating for the removal of psychological
barriers may not be effective if the working conditions of sex
workers and the structures on which their material deprivation stands
continue to go unchallenged.
To
be fair, The York Times piece introduces some important caveats to
such strategies:
“Hope
isn’t a cure-all and in none of these examples can we be certain
that it actually explains the gains in people’s income or
education…instilling hope without skills or financial resources is
unlikely to be enough to lift people out of poverty.”
Nevertheless,
if the caveats are so strong as to question the validity of the
experiments then they are not caveats at all, but fundamental inputs
on which any successful methodology must be based. Economics
distracts itself by reforming symptoms and ignoring the conditions
which cause the malaise in the first place. As the development
economist Sanjay
G. Reddy has
written:
“The
larger questions once asked within the discipline regarding the
effect of alternative economic institutions and policies (such as
those concerning property arrangements, trade, agricultural,
industrial and fiscal policy, and the role of social protection
mechanisms), for instance, and the impact of political dynamics and
processes of social change, have been pushed to the background in
favour of such questions as whether bed-nets dipped in insecticide
should be distributed free of charge or not, or whether two
schoolteachers in the classroom are much better than one.”
Hence,
in a recent
open letter
published in the Guardian, fifteen leading economists argued that
relying on RCTs to guide aid spending will lead to short-term,
superficial and misplaced policies. Asking relevant questions is the
first step towards understanding problems. And understanding why
widespread hunger and poverty persist in an era of unprecedented
opulence, rapid technological transformation and democratic
governance is the most important problem of the day. Inequality
is not born in a vacuum; it is a fundamental aspect of the
distribution of income and wealth. Unless we understand how extreme
wealth accumulation is connected to extreme inequality the question
of poverty will go unaddressed.
More
than 800
million people
live in extreme poverty today. To say that they do not have
sufficient hope, aspiration and tenacity to fight for their rights is
to deny their agency. The structural odds against them inhibit their
ability to leave the vicious cycles of poverty. Without additional
resources and much more concerted action on the underlying causes, no
amount of positive thinking will enable the great mass of individuals
to climb out of poverty. We cannot afford to rely on methods that
suggest that poor people are simply failing to make the ‘right
choices.’
This
doesn’t mean that we should disregard RCTs or any other ways of
empowering communities, but it does mean that we should build on an
understanding of poverty alleviation which is concerned with
attacking the malaise of unequal distribution as opposed to
remediating its symptoms. That means confronting structures and
actors that have not only failed to address poverty but may also have
reinforced the nature of uneven development across the globe.
BBC World Service radio had vanmorgen (rond 11.40 u. CET) Jonathan Chandler, vicevoorzitter van de rechtse denktank ‘Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), gezeteld in Washington, aan de telefoon. De aanleiding daartoe is het inhouden van de bijdrage aan de VN vluchtelingenorganisatie UNRWA door de VS.
Volgens Chandler is het belachelijk dat er voor de Palestijnen een aparte vluchtelingenorganisatie werd opgericht in 1948 (de UNRWA), toen meer dan 800.000 Palestijnen huis en haard zijn ontvlucht vanwege de moorddadige agressie van Israëlische zionisten (fascisten)……. Chandler vergeet even dat het grootste deel van de wereld achter de oprichting van UNRWA stond en dat het werk voor Palestijnen uiterst moeizaam is, daar ze over zoveel landen zijn verspreid…. Zo waren ook de Palestijnse vluchtelingen in Syrië de laatste 7 jaar het doel van de door het westen als ‘gematigde rebellen’ benoemde moordenaars, verkrachters en martelbeulen……..
Het ‘steekt’ Chandler vooral dat UNRWA de nu nog 30.000 levende Palestijnse vluchtelingen (over van de oorspronkelijk 800.000 vluchtelingen) en alle nabestaanden blijft aanduiden als vluchtelingen….. Volgens deze smerige psychopaat staat deze houding van de UNRWA de vredesonderhandelingen in Israël (tussen de Israëlische overheid en de Palestijnen) in de weg….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Hé Chandler, denk je niet dat juist Israël deze onderhandelingen keer op keer frustreert???
Zo -schieten Israëlische scherpschutters op ongewapende vreedzame demonstranten (inclusief kinderen gehandicapten en medische hulpverleners, al vanaf maart dit jaar, elke vrijdag aan de grens met Israël in de Gazastrook) waar je zelfs over massamoord kan spreken, zoals Israël die vaker aanricht onder de Palestijnen, -wordt het Palestijnen onmogelijk gemaakt hun land te bewerken, zoals voor enorm veel boeren op de West Bank geldt, of -het gevangennemen en houden van Palestijnen (en Palestijnse kinderen) zonder enige vorm van proces (‘administratieve detentie….’), waarbij ze ook nog eens worden gemarteld, dan is er nog -het onthouden van drinkwater aan de Palestijnen zowel in de Gazastrook als de West Bank, verder is daar nog -de schandalige blokkade van de Gazastrook door de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël, die tot de hierboven genoemde protesten in de Gazastrook hebben geleid……
Om nog maar te zwijgen over de illegale nederzettingen op de West Bank, een politiek die steeds verder wordt geïntensiveerd, zeker na de aanname van de ‘natiestaat wet’ (een ronduit fascistische wet) in het Israëlische parlement…….
Chandler is van een denktank die zegt de democratie te beschermen, maar volgens Chandler is Hamas in de Gazastrook geen regering….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Hamas werd NB met grote meerderheid verkozen in de Gazastrook! Juist de Palestijnse Autoriteit (PA) van Abbas is geen legitieme regering, immers die ‘regering’ zit er al vanaf 2009 en durft geen verkiezingen uit te schrijven daar ze bang zijn net zo’n klap te krijgen als eerder in de Gazastrook… Nee, daar hoor je Chandler niet over……
Chandler wilde nog even kwijt dat de UNWRA corrupt is, niet dat hij daar bewijzen voor had, hij stelde simpel dat de VN in haar geheel corrupt is en dat de UNRWA corrupt is daar het alleen de belangen van Palestijnen behartigt, alsof dat een bewijs van corruptie is….. Chandler verwees daarbij naar de andere vluchtelingenorganisatie van de VN de UNHCR, alsof de VN leden, inclusief de VS eerder niet instemden met de oprichting van de UNRWA…….
Heb me trouwens rot gezocht op de site van BBC W.S. naar dit onderdeel, dat was echter alleen via een zoekopdracht te vinden, het stond dus niet tussen de ‘tegels’ (foto’s met onderschrift) waar je normaal gesproken op moet klikken om dit soort programmaonderdelen terug te vinden, hier de link naar de site, let wel: na een week wordt het programma van het net gehaald en kan je het niet meer terugluisteren. Overigens hoor je eerst Chris Gunness van de UNRWA, die uitlegt dat het ronduit een ramp is als de VS haar bijdrage inhoudt, daar dit een kwart bedraagt van het totale budget en de nood in bijvoorbeeld Syrië ontzettend hoog is (NB door de illegale oorlog van de VS tegen het democratisch gekozen bewind in dat land…. Uiteraard verdedigt Gunness terecht het humanitaire werk dat UNRWA verricht, waarnaast de UNRWA zorg draagt voor onderwijs aan Palestijnse kinderen, zoals je begrijpt uitermate belangrijk…..)
Tot slot waar blijft de overjarige PvdA nep-hippie en vals loeder Ploumen nu met een pleidooi om de bijdrage van de VS voor de UNRWA uit andere bronnen te betrekken????
Het is intussen meer dan duidelijk dat de VS van meet af aan niet van plan was de kinderen die zij hun ouders afnamen bij binnenkomst in de VS, terug te geven aan die ouders.
Na eerdere berichten over een uiterst slechte of zelfs ontbrekende administratie van kinderen en hun ouders, maakte BBC World Service afgelopen vrijdag in het nieuws van 1.30 u. bekend dat de VS van 3.000 kinderen DNA wil afnemen, daar men niet weet wie de ouders zijn, van wie de VS NB zelf de kinderen heeft afgenomen………
Blijkbaar zag de Trump administratie dit wel als een afschrikwekkende straf voor ouders die het ‘gore lef’ hadden te vluchten voor veelal door de VS veroorzaakt geweld in eigen land, dezelfde VS die een heel groot deel van Latijns Amerika vol pompt met wapens en als het zo uitkomt dictators steunt of zelfs aan de macht helpt…….. Tot slot: de VS het gestolen land, waar diensten als de FBI en de DEA geld verdienen aan de smokkel van bijvoorbeeld cocaïne……..
PS: het is duidelijk dat een groot deel van deze kinderen met deze barbaarse gang van zaken een trauma voor het leven hebben opgelopen, dit nog naast het feit dat deze mensen en hun kinderen in feite in concentratiekampen zijn opgesloten…….
De Israëlische advocaat Yuval Shany is unaniem gekozen tot voorzitter
van het Mensenrechtencomité van de VN* , ofwel men heeft in feite de
fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël voorzitter gemaakt van een
mensenrechtencomité…….. Zoals eerder Saoedi-Arabië, ook al een
notoire schender van mensenrechten, werd verkozen tot voorzitter van de
UNHRC…..

beziggehouden: zo was hij werkzaam voor het Israëlische ministerie

Lawyer Appointed Chairman of UN Human Rights Committee
(MEMO) — An
Israeli lawyer was chosen this week to chair the UN Human Rights
Committee, despite the country’s dire human rights record.
The
UN Human Rights Committee, not to be confused with the UN Human
Rights Council, is a panel of legal professionals which reviews
states’ adherence to the International
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR),
which forms part of the International Bill of Human Rights.
The
Covenant commits parties to respect the civil and political rights of
individuals, including the right to life, freedom of religion, speech
and assembly, electoral rights and rights to due process and a fair
trial. Israel has signed and ratified the Covenant.
The
committee will now be chaired by Yuval Shany, who was unanimously
selected on Monday by its 18 members. Shany is deputy president of
the Israel Democracy Institute and a member of the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem’s Faculty of Law. He has also worked for
Israel’s Ministry of Justice and as an advisor to the Israeli Prime
Minister’s Office and the Israeli army. He will be the first
Israeli to chair the Human Rights Committee.
In
a statement following his appointment, Shany said that “we live in
an international climate that no longer supports human rights. As
head of the committee, I hope to harness its positive and apolitical
influence to secure human rights for all citizens of the world,”
according to Haaretz.
The
appointment will raise eyebrows in light of Israel’s dire human
rights record and systematic denial of Palestinians’ human rights.
According to Israeli human rights organisation B’Tselem,
Israel uses administrative
detention of Palestinians, in which a person who has not committed an
offense is held without trial or legal proceedings, as a “quick and
easy alternative to criminal trial”. B’Tselem statistics show
that “at the end of May 2018, 440 Palestinians – including two
women and three minors – were held in administrative detention in
Israel Prison Service (IPS) facilities.”
Israel’s
disregard for human rights has also been highlighted during the Great
March of Return,
which began on 30 March. Since the protests began, 135
Palestinians have died after
being hit by Israeli live fire, with a further 15,000 injured. Israel
has also been criticised for its targeting
of journalists, photographers and paramedics in
a bid to silence reports and images of its human rights violations.
In
addition, Israel in June passed a
law making it an offence to film Israeli soldiers on duty, making
filming “with intent to harm the morale of Israel’s soldiers or
its inhabitants” punishable by up to five years in prison. The law
will limit the work of human rights groups who document human rights
violations committed by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank.

Dit comité ziet toe hoe landen zich verhouden tot het Internationaal

‘Zo ziet moderne oorlogspropaganda eruit’, luidt de kop boven een artikel van Caitlin Johnsone. Ze beschrijft hierin het grote aantal video’s, waarin heldhaftige jonge Iraanse moslim vrouwen ‘vechten’ voor hun vrijheid.
Johnstone wijst op het grote aantal malen dat deze video’s worden gedeeld door republikeinen en de pro-Israël lobby (plus: zionisten*), groepen die normaal gesproken totaal geen moeite hebben met de onderdrukking van vrouwen in islamitische landen, het gaat hier dan ook om Iraanse moslims (Iran is voor 89% sjiitisch) en niet om hun zwaar onderdrukte seksegenoten uit bijvoorbeeld Saoedi-Arabië (84% soennieten) of Egypte (93% soennieten)…….

In Iran mogen vrouwen al heel lang in auto’s rijden, echter dat schijnt niet van belang te zijn in het westen…. Ook het feit dat de huidige regering in Iran voorzichtig probeert de macht van de sjiitische leiders los te weken, hoeft amper of niet op westerse belangstelling te rekenen…..
Johnstone kan dan ook niet anders concluderen dan dat hier sprake is van oorlogspropaganda…… De voormalige staatssecretaris van BuZa in de VS, Rex Tillerson heeft een beleidsmedewerker, Brian Hook en deze stelde in een uitgelekt memorandum van de Trump administratie dat mensenrechten moeten worden gebruikt als knuppel om onwillige staten als Iran, Noord-Korea en China mee te slaan, terwijl de schending van mensenrechten moet worden toegestaan aan landen als Saoedi-Arabië, Egypte, de Filipijnen en Israël (al noemt Johnstone het laatste land niet in deze combinatie)………. In het memorandum is verder te lezen dat bondgenoten anders en beter moeten worden behandeld dan tegenstanders, daar je anders meer tegenstanders dan bondgenoten overhoudt……. (de VS was zelfs voor Saoedi-Arabië op de post van voorzitter van de VN Mensenrechtencommissie >> UNHRC)
Uit het voorgaande kan je ten overvloede nog eens destilleren dat men in de VS knettergek is en werkelijk denkt een wereldrijk te zijn, waar het naar goeddunken kan moorden en verder alles mag doen wat god verboden heeft (en dat voor een zwaar ‘christelijke’ natie…), zolang het maar in het belang is van dat rijk….
In feite is de VS werkelijk al lang het Vierde Rijk en heel wat succesvoller dan het Derde van Hitler in nazi-Duitsland….. I’ve been noticing videos going viral the last few days, some with millions of views, about Muslim women bravely fighting to free themselves from oppression in the Middle East. The videos, curiously, are being shared enthusiastically by many Republicans and pro-Israel hawks, who aren’t traditionally the sort of crowd you see rallying to support the civil rights of Muslims. What’s up with that?
Well, you may want to sit down for this shocker, but it turns out that they happen to be women from a nation that the US war machine is currently escalating operations against. They are Iranian.
Whenever you see the sudden emergence of an attractive media campaign that is sympathetic to the plight of civilians in a resource-rich nation unaligned with the western empire, you are seeing propaganda. When that nation is surrounded by other nations with similar human rights transgressions and yet those transgressions are ignored by that same media campaign, you are most certainly seeing propaganda. When that nation just so happens to already be the target of starvation sanctions and escalated covert CIA ops, you can bet the farm that you are seeing propaganda.
Back in December a memo was leaked from inside the Trump administration showing how then-Secretary of State, DC neophyte Rex Tillerson, was coached on how the US empire uses human rights as a pretense on which to attack and undermine noncompliant governments. Politico reports:
The May 17 memo reads like a crash course for a businessman-turned-diplomat, and its conclusion offers a starkly realist vision: that the U.S. should use human rights as a club against its adversaries, like Iran, China and North Korea, while giving a pass to repressive allies like the Philippines, Egypt and Saudi Arabia”.
“Allies should be treated differently — and better — than adversaries. Otherwise, we end up with more adversaries, and fewer allies,” argued the memo, written by Tillerson’s influential policy aide, Brian Hook.
The propaganda machine doesn’t operate any differently from the State Department, since they serve the same establishment. US ally Saudi Arabia is celebrated by the mass media for “liberal reform” in allowing women to drive despite hard evidence that those “reforms” are barely surface-level cosmetics to present a pretty face to the western world, but Iranian women, who have been able to drive for years, are painted as uniquely oppressed. Iran is condemned by establishment war whores for the flaws in its democratic process, while Saudi Arabia, an actual monarchy, goes completely unscrutinized.
This is because the US-centralized power establishment, which has never at any point in its history cared about human rights, plans on effecting regime change in Iran by any means necessary. Should those means necessitate a potentially controversial degree of direct military engagement, the empire needs to make sure it retains control of the narrative.
Women in Iran are recording the abuse they suffer at the hands of men for not wearing religious clothing. May the good people of Iran free themselves from the shackles of the tyrannical mullah theocracy.
This is what war propaganda looks like in the era of social media. It will never look ugly. It will never directly show you its real intentions. If it did, it wouldn’t work. It can’t just come right out and say “Hey we need to do horrible, evil things to the people in this country on the other side of the world in your name using your resources, please play along without making a fuss.” It will necessarily look fresh and fun and rebellious. It will look appealing. It will look sexy.
And it’s working. I am currently getting tagged in these videos multiple times a day by Trump supporters who are eager to show me proof that I’m on the wrong side of the Iran issue; the psyop is so well-lubricated with a combination of sleek presentation and confirmation bias that it slides right past their skepticism and becomes accepted as fact, even the one with the Now This pussyhat propaganda logo in the corner.
Be less trusting of these monsters, please. The people of Afghanistan haven’t benefitted from the interminable military quagmire that has cost tens of thousands of their lives. The invaders of Iraq were never “greeted as liberators” by an oppressed population. The humanitarian intervention in Libya left a humanitarian catastrophe in its wake far more horrific than anything it claimed to be trying to prevent. Saving the children of Syria with western interventionism has left half a million Syrians dead.
If the Iranians do in fact wish to change their government, it should happen without crippling sanctions, collaboration with extremist terror cults, or the rapey tentacles of the CIA manipulating the situation. There has never been a US-led regime change in the Middle East that wasn’t disastrous. People should be screaming at the US and its allies to cease these interventions, not applauding propaganda that is clearly being manufactured by that same empire.

Vanmorgen berichtte BBC World Service radio (rond 10.15 u. CET) over Algerije, waar de politie razzia’s houdt en mensen oppakt die ofwel duidelijk uit Afrikaanse landen ten zuiden van de Sahara (sub-Sahara) komen, ofwel de politie pakt mensen op, vanwege de kleur die hun huid heeft…….
Mensen worden opgepakt waar ze werkzaam zijn en er wordt niet gecontroleerd of men legaal in Algerije is….. Deze mensen worden in bussen naar de grens van Algerije vervoerd, waar ze soms met honderd of meer, onder bedreiging van met scherp geladen wapens de woestijn in worden gestuurd, men wijst nog wel aan waar men bijvoorbeeld Niger of Mali kan vinden en verder zoeken ze het maar uit…….
Volgens de VN Vluchtelingenorganisatie (UNHCR) zijn er in de loop van een paar jaar naar schatting al 30.000 mensen in de woestijn omgekomen, niet alleen mensen die door Algerije de woestijn in worden gestuurd, maar ook mensen die bij hun vlucht naar Europa om zijn gekomen in de woestijn…..
E.e.a. zou bekend moeten zijn bij een groot aantal regeringen, waaronder de westerse, echter niemand die het opneemt voor de mensen die de dood in worden gestuurd……. Nee, men lult tot in het oneindige over het vluchtelingenprobleem in de EU* en komt dan met het walgelijke plan concentratiekampen in te richten in de EU en daarna in Noord-Afrika….. Concentratiekampen in Noord-Afrikaanse landen waar vluchtelingen de kans lopen te worden: -vermoord, -gemarteld, -uitgebuit als slaaf, -gebruikt als gijzelaar (waar de familie onder druk wordt gezet te betalen), of te worden misbruikt, waar de ‘opvang’ van deze mensen nu al gebeurt onder erbarmelijke omstandigheden, zal dat in de toekomst niet anders zijn, zie de erbarmelijke ‘opvang’ van vluchtelingen in Turkije…….

* Terwijl 90% van de vluchtelingen in eigen land, dan wel in buurlanden (‘opvang in de regio’) een ander heenkomen zoekt, in landen die voor het overgrote deel arm zijn, maar ‘blijkbaar zijn die landen in de ogen van EU lidstaten wel berekend op het opvangen van vluchtelingen….’ (wat ze niet zijn, zoals je waarschijnlijk al lang begrepen had)
Een
kwaadaardige ‘christen’ uit de stal van het 666 beest Trump,
procureur-generaal Jeff Sessions heeft
besloten dat vluchtelingen bijvoorbeeld uit Zuid- en Midden-Amerika
niet langer kunnen rekenen op asiel als ze geweld in eigen land
ontvluchten, of dat nu geweld is van huiselijke, gender, dan wel van politieke aard is, ook slachtoffers van geweld door misdaadbendes kunnen het voor een groot deel vergeten………… Uiteraard hoort daar ook geweld als verkrachting toe……
Je snapt dat Sessions de zaak niet zo heeft gesteld als in de kop vermeld staat, echter als je zijn achterlijke, inhumane verhaal hoort, is dat zo ongeveer de enige mogelijkheid……
Deze
enorme schoft stelt dat het niet genoeg is als de vluchteling stelt
dat zijn/haar, regering niets doet tegen het geweld dat die persoon
ondervindt. De vluchteling moet aantonen dat zijn/haar regering ofwel
het geweld vergoelijkt dan wel bewezen niets heeft gedaan om geweld
te voorkomen……. Met andere woorden, dit is de VVD variant: je
bent pas een echte vluchteling als je dood bent……. Tja dan zou je
als je nog leefde althans, aan kunnen tonen dat de regering niets
heeft gedaan…….
Bovendien
heb je veeleer te maken met lokale autoriteiten, ofwel een regering
kan van goede wil zijn, maar als een verkrachter of moordenaar
bevriend is met de lokale corrupte machthebber, kan je het alsnog
schudden……..
Dan
nog hebben we het woord vluchteling: iemand vlucht als de situatie
onhoudbaar is en hij/zij en of naasten dan wel kinderen gevaar lopen
te worden vermoord >> op zo’n moment heb je niet eens de kans iets dergelijks te
bewijzen, immers je zal hals over kop moeten vluchten….
Trouwens hoe bewijs je dat een regering niets doet tegen
geweld? De bewuste regering zelf zal dit als allereerste ontkennen,
je mag dan wel een onderzoekbureau tot je beschikking hebben om een
groot aantal gevallen van onwil aan te kunnen tonen……
Nogmaals, nu ook in de VS: een echte vluchteling is een dode vluchteling………
Je
zou gvd hopen dat figuren als Sessions fiks ziek worden, hun hele
hebben en houden kwijtraken en met hun gezin in dezelfde situatie
terechtkomen als waar de vluchtelingen mee te maken hebben, en bij
een asielaanvraag te maken krijgen met dezelfde houding die figuren
als Sessions aan de dag leggen en dat graag voor de rest van hun
miezerige, inhumane schoftenbestaan….. Maar ja, gerechtigheid
bestaat niet (triester nog: zelfs een poging om je recht te halen wordt steeds moeilijker, zoals ook dit
bericht weer aantoont….)
Sessions stelt dat misbruik maken met de huidige regels te makkelijk is, terwijl mensenrechten advocaten dit met klem tegenspreken, het is bijzonder moeilijk om asiel in de VS te krijgen…… Sessions gaat met zijn besluit, precies als de EU met de Turkije deal, recht in tegen het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag………

‘Horrific’:
Sessions Says Survivors of Domestic and Gang Violence Will No Longer
Qualify for Asylum

In
just the latest addition to the Trump administration’s
mounting collectionof
“cruel” policies aimed at closing off the nation to
refugees and asylum-seekers, Attorney General Jeff Sessions released
a new Justice Department guidance on Monday declaring that migrants
will no longer automatically qualify for asylum if they present
concerns of domestic abuse or gang violence.
“In
what world does the United States turn its back on people who have
suffered persecution, trauma, and extreme distress from domestic or
gang violence?” said Denise Bell, a researcher for refugee and
migrant rights at Amnesty International USA. “Today’s decision
is a direct assault on people seeking protection, especially families
fleeing persecution in Central America.”
“This
is horrific,” tweetedone
observer. “This is plain cruel,” respondedGavin
Newsom, California’s lieutenant governor. “A
disgrace,” concludeda
law professor. “Can they go any lower?” remarked Rep. Raul
Grijalva (D-Ariz.).
“The
mere fact that a country may have problems effectively policing
certain crimes or that certain populations are more likely to be
victims of crime, cannot itself establish an asylum claim,”
Sessions’ guidance (pdf)
states. “An applicant seeking to establish persecution based on
violent conduct of a private actor must show more than the
government’s difficulty controlling private behavior. The applicant
must show that the government condoned the private actions or
demonstrated an inability to protect the victims.”
Sessions
first revealed that he would release the revised asylum policy during
a speechto
the nation’s immigration judges on Monday. In the address, he claimed
“the asylum system is being abused to the detriment of the rule
of law, sound public policy, and public safety,” and that “the
vast majority of the current asylum claims are not valid.”
But
immigrants rights advocates pointed out that the asylum process is
already incredibly difficult, and now it will be even harder for
those fleeing violence to seek protection.
Those
assertions followed an earlier decision, as CNNexplained,
to use “a little-known authority to refer immigration cases to
himself for review, allowing him to almost single-handedly direct how
immigration law is interpreted in this country.”
Een
volledige herhaling van zetten als bij de bevrijding van Oost-Aleppo:
de zogenaamde gematigde rebellen schieten op burgers die Oost-Ghouta
via de door de regering ingestelde corridors willen ontvluchten……
Ook
destijds in Oost-Aleppo had men hier geen aandacht voor in de westerse reguliere
media, behalve dan een ‘hickup’ van de reguliere massamedia, die
durfden te stellen dat het Syrische leger op die burgers schoot…..
Waar na onderzoek bleek dat de daders onder de ‘gematigde rebellen’ moesten worden gezocht, werd
er niet gerectificeerd in die media, men deed er verder het zwijgen
toe, of herhaalde ‘doodleuk’ de eerdere leugens…………
Terwijl destijds al bekend was dat de terroristen in Oost-Aleppo burgers waarschuwden niet te vluchten, daar men bij aanhouding direct geëxecuteerd zou worden, inclusief mee vluchtende familieleden (waaronder kinderen…). Bij een geslaagde vlucht werd deze mensen beloofd dat achtergebleven familieleden zouden worden vermoord…..
Nu
is er al helemaal geen aandacht in de reguliere westerse media voor
de sluipschutters van deze ‘rebellen’, die uit Oost-Ghouta vluchtende burgers
vermoorden……. Hoe is dat gvd mogelijk? De reguliere media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici schreeuwen moord en brand over het Syrische leger dat volkomen terecht Oost-Ghouta
wil zuiveren van psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters en
martelbeulen, nogmaals: figuren die hier eufemistisch ‘gematigde rebellen’ worden genoemd…….
Dit
klopt niet helemaal Azijnpisser, nu trekt de VN vluchtelingenorganisatie (UNHCR) aan de bel en (hoe is
het mogelijk) de New York Times bracht zowaar dit bericht…. Heb
gezocht op het internet, maar kan hier niets over vinden in de
reguliere Nederlandse media, terwijl de eerste berichten over
sluipschutters die vluchtende burgers uit Oost-Ghouta neerschoten al dateren van
de laatste weken in februari (jl.)……….. (eerste melding op 20
februari jl.)
Lullig dat de VN vluchtelingenorganisatie bij monde van Sajjad Mailk nog weer met de vingers naar het reguliere Syrische leger moet wijzen, met beschuldigingen die gelijken als die ten tijde van de bevrijding van Oost-Aleppo, waar echter nooit enig bewijs voor werd geleverd….. Zo zou het Syrische leger gevluchte burgers dwingen terug te gaan in door rebellen beheerst gebied….. Alsof ze daarvoor de corridors hebben ingesteld…….
Waar
de reguliere media ten tijde van de bevrijding van Oost-Aleppo ook al
niet over berichtten, was het feit dat Syrië en Rusland een paar
maanden voor de uiteindelijke bevrijding van dat stadsdeel, besloten
te stoppen met bombarderen, om onnodige burgerslachtoffers te
voorkomen……
Bij
de bevrijding van het Iraakse Mosul en het Syrische Raqqa, ging de VS
tot het eind toe door met bombarderen waardoor een enorm aantal
burgers omkwam, ondanks herhaalde oproepen van de VN en een paar afzonderlijke landen te stoppen met die bombardementen………
We
worden vol gepropt met leugens door de reguliere westerse media en
het grootste deel van de westerse politici, die godbetert het woord
‘fake news’ in de vuilbek durven te nemen…..
Syrian
Rebels Using Snipers to Kill Civilians Trying to Flee War-Torn Syrian
City
(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — Syrian
rebels are sniping down civilians attempting to flee the violence in
Eastern Ghouta through a corridor opened up by the Syrian government,
according to a U.N. official as reported by
the New
York Times.
Sajjad
Malik, head of the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) from Damascus,
returned to Beirut late last week after entering Eastern Ghouta with
a relief convoy earlier in the week. Malik noted the dire conditions
facing the residents of Eastern Ghouta and highlighted how little
choice the people have when it comes to escaping the violence.
According
to Malik, the residents also would also have to fear for their safety
if they were to flee to government-held territory. The government has
been known to make deals to relocate residents to other rebel-held
territories if need be, but no such deals have yet been made with the
residents of Eastern Ghouta to safely relocate them elsewhere. The
residents are therefore unsure of what to expect should they make it
safely to areas controlled by the government.
“They
want out – either the bombing to stop, or to get out. But reach
safety where?” Malik
said last Thursday. “We
are getting to a point where there is literally no flight option.
What worse situation could there be?”
According
to the New
York Times,
Malik’s account “underscored
that combatants on both sides are responsible for the horrific
situation of civilians in eastern Ghouta.” This
admission is noteworthy to say the least considering the mainstream
media has painted the current humanitarian issue as one that belongs
solely to the Syrian government while giving the Islamist rebels
holding Eastern Ghouta a free pass.
Malik
documented an incident in which two people had been killed by rebel
snipers as a family tried to
escape
through a land corridor established by the Syrian government. The
area is controlled by Jaish al-Islam, a
radical Islamist group openly
supported by American allies like Saudi
Arabia.
The New
York Times alleged that the Syrian government has behaved
similarly in an area controlled by another rebel group by delivering
an air strike on a family of five as they tried to reach the
crossing. Interestingly, the New York Times did not
reference Malik as the source of this claim but referred to a known
“anti-government activist” in the area known as Ahmed Hamdan.
The New YorkTimes also mentioned that
some residents said the family had died during “ordinary”
airstrikes but not while trying to flee — another inconsistency.
The New
York Times also documented protests that erupted on Friday
in the town of Kafr Batna, with residents calling on the rebel groups
to leave to put an end to the violence. Jaish al-Islam has refused to
leave the areas it occupies, which does not bode well for the
prospect of winding down the current situation.
“Miserable.
Destruction. Disaster. Death. Hunger,” Malik
reportedly said before noting that there was a prominent stench in
the streets of bodies trapped under the rubble of destroyed houses.
Malik
also noted that residents told him that rebels prevented them from
leaving the area.
“They
said, ‘These guys are preventing us’” while
pointing at nearby rebel fighters, Malik stated.
PS: in de kop staat ‘gematigde rebellen’ genoemd, echter deze aanduiding werd niet door de VN gebruikt, ik voegde dit toe, daar het inderdaad om terreurgroepen gaat die het leugenachtige westen als zodanig aanduidt……

Russisch-Syrische journalisten, die embedded werkten, hebben een
vernietigend rapport samengesteld waarin de ware bedoeling van de
geheime VS operatie in al-Tanf (zuiden van Syrië) wordt uitgelegd. De Russische
generale staf beschuldige de VS vorige maand van het trainen van IS
terroristen in Al-Tanf…….. Aldus een bericht op Information Clearing House van afgelopen maandag, het origineel is van Sputnik en werd een dag eerder gepubliceerd.
Een
Pentagon woordvoerder liet snel weten dat deze beschuldiging vals en
absurd zijn, immers de VS zou juist vechten tegen IS en hen juist uitschakelen….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Er zijn intussen zoveel bewijzen voor VS bemoeienis met IS, dat je de verdediging van het Pentagon als vals en absurd kan noemen!

Clearing House” – Two Russian Syria-embedded
journalists have put together a damning firsthand report on the true
purpose of the secrecy-laden US military mission at At-Tanf, southern
Syria.
The
Pentagon was forced to go into full public relations mode
late last month amid fresh allegations by the
Russian General Staff that US instructors were providing training
assistance for some 350 ex-Daesh (ISIS) militants at the US
Army’s al-Tanf garrison in the southern Syrian province of Homs.
Chief of Staff General Valery Gerasimov accused Washington
of intending to use the militants to create a
so-called ‘New Syrian Army’, a military formation aimed at further
destabilizing the war-torn country after Daesh had been
defeated.
A
Pentagon spokesperson soon responded, telling
Sputnik that
Moscow’s allegations were “false and absurd,” and stressing
that the US and its allies engage in capturing and killing
Daesh, not training them.
In
a special investigative report for Russia’s
Federal News Agency, embedded Syria correspondents Igor Petrashevich
and Roman Martynovich made their way south to try to figure
out what was really going on in the US-occupied area
with their own eyes.
Al-Tanf,
a settlement situated near Syria’s border with Iraq and
Jordan, is one of three official border crossings between Syria
and Iraq, and the main border checkpoint along the
Damascus-Baghdad highway. Intense fighting for the area took
place in the spring and summer of 2017, as US-allied
militia attempted to solidify their foothold in southern
Syria. However, a Syrian Army counteroffensive backed by Russian
air power stopped the militants’ advance, prompting them and their
US-led coalition allies to secure a patch of territory
running about 55 km deep into Syria.

Late
last month, General Gerasimov pointed to al-Tanf as being
one of two staging areas for the continuation of an
armed struggle against the Syrian government by the
jihadists, with the other located at Shaddadi camp,
under the control of Kurdish forces operating in Syria’s
north. According to the general, the al-Tanf militants, many
former members of Daesh, were brought into the area by US
special forces from Deir ez-Zor province, where Daesh had
suffered total defeat.
According
to Petrashevich and Martynovich, the presence of these
former Daesh fighters made local residents wary of helping them
to make their way into the US military-administered
enclave. “A young man named Marshod warned our correspondents
about this and said that two of his own attempts to make
his way to a nearby village beyond the line of demarcation
led to threats against his life from militants
guarding the enclave’s inner perimeter.”
Undeterred,
the journalists continued their investigation via interviews
with eyewitnesses and representatives of the Syrian
military stationed in the region.
There
May Be Close to Four Times as Many Militants as Previously
Estimated
Although
the Russian military conservatively estimated the presence of roughly
350 Daesh militants at al-Tanf, Syrian military sources speaking
to Patrashevich and Martynovich explained that the number may,
in fact, be upwards of 1,200 fighters, some 200 of them
Daesh jihadis brought to the area by US special forces,
mostly from Deir ez-Zor province. Other forces include the
so-called ‘New Syrian Army’, the Forces of Martyr Ahmad al-Abdo
(formally part of the Free Syrian Army), and the Martyrs
of Islam Brigade (an Islamist group). According to the
Syrian military, these forces’ armament includes large-caliber
mortars, anti-tank missiles, tanks and other heavy weaponry.
The
New Syrian Army, commanded by one Mekhenda Talla, reportedly has
a strained relationship with the other formations, who cooperate
with his forces only on a for cash basis.
“In
general, the relationship between the militants from the
individual groups is quite tense, as civilian testimony makes
clear,” Patrashevich and Martynovich wrote. “One local, a
man named Amjad Sahim, who managed to escape the US-controlled
territory to neighboring Damascus Governate, told us that he and
his brothers witnessed clashes between the NSA forces moving
toward the border and former Daesh fighters attempting to leave
the area into Jordanian territory. As a result of the
clashes, the small group of Daesh terrorists was completely
wiped out.”
Furthermore,
the journalists’ Syrian Army source said that other members of the
US-led coalition were also deployed in the area, with about
400 mercenaries, intelligence operatives and members of the
special forces of the UK, France, Jordan, and possibly other
countries, operating in the region. These forces’ arsenal
includes HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, as well
as anti-aircraft artillery, tasked with defending the US
base.
‘Passive
Reserve’ of 5,000 More Jihadists
Local
freelance journalists told Patrashevich and Martynovich that
in addition to the so-called ‘active reserve’ of militants,
the US and its allies also has a passive one.
“While
the main jihadists are based at the US Armed Forces base and
receive a monthly allowance, another 5,000 Islamists reside at the
Rukban refugee camp, some still armed and in contact with their
field commanders. Last November, militants began voicing their
dissatisfaction with the noticeable decline in US funding.
As a result, the al-Tanf base’s command, fearing military
insurrection, decided to pay out a severance payment
of several thousand dollars to each fighter, and gave them
the right to remain inside the enclave in the tent
camp zone.”
As
for the New Syrian Army, their job, according to a Syrian
Army serviceman stationed near the front line, includes guard
duty at checkpoints along the makeshift border, and defense
of the perimeter of the al-Tanf base and the Rukban camp.
Talla’s troops maintain discipline over the other units
via payments the performance of various duties.
Life
in Region a Living Hell for Civilians
Speaking
to locals, Patrashevich and Martynovich were told that the
jihadists’ presence in the region has had a severe impact
on civilian life. In the town of Al-Qaryatayn, the
correspondents met with Farah Alhamsih, a young woman who had
lived outside al-Tanf before managing to escape the
area once it fell under US and jihadist control.
According
to Alhamsih, while some militants engaged in “building
homes or carried out shooting practice, most of them, left
almost without a livelihood, robbed local houses, or trucks
passing along the Damascus-Baghdad highway.” According
to the eyewitness, while US forces first tried to exert
pressure on the radicals or even evict them from the Rukban
camp, they eventually gave up, closing their eyes to their
criminal activities.
Last
fall, a group of some 300 Daesh militants carried
out an offensive toward Al-Qaryatayn,
successfully avoiding the Syrian Army’s hidden outposts using
coordinates Moscow and Damascus later alleged were obtained
through aerial reconnaissance provided by the US. Although
the offensive was stopped, the Syrian military has concerns that new
attacks may be in the offing. Furthermore, US and jihadi
occupation of the area put important roads, including the
Homs-Deir ez-Zor and Damascus-Palmyra highways, as well
as strategically important oil and gas fields, under threat.
Russian
officials have also voiced concerns about the state of the
Rukban refugee camp, the Russian Center for Reconciliation
describing the situation there as being close to ‘catastrophic,’
and the US military closing access to the camp to the UN
and other humanitarian organizations. Thus far, Patrashevich and
Martynovich recalled, “any attempts by Syrian government
convoys or pro-Russian forces to come close to the enclave
have been met with airstrikes by the US coalition.”
This includes incidents in May
and June 2017.
Sahim,
the local man now living in Damascus Governate, confirmed to the
journalists that the humanitarian situation in the US-occupied
territory is approaching desperate, with basic foodstuffs and
other necessities unavailable, while militants have seized local
wells, selling water to locals at marked up prices.
“When
I was very thirsty, I had to spend a fortune. A bottle of water
which could earlier be bought for 50 lira is sold by the
terrorists for 500. And people buy it. What else could they do?
Many parents tried to save their children. I know several local
families who gave away their girls for marriage just to get
them out of the area,” Sahim recalled.
The
eyewitness added that when locals tried to organize to get
the attention of US military command about arranging the
supply of necessities, their requests fell on deaf ears.
This, combined with the lack of any effort to rein
in the militants, has given rise to anti-American
sentiments, as well as hopes for cooperation with the
Syrian government or even representatives of the Russian
military.
The
Russian Center for Reconciliation has offered to assist
refugees from the Rukban camp. Despite the absence of any
security guarantees from the US side, and the presence
of roaming jihadist militants in the region, last month,
Center representatives assisted in the evacuation of a
small group of refugees from the camp. The reporters
captured the evacuation on video.
For
now, Patrashevich and Martynovich noted, the fate of the
occupied Syrian enclave is in American hands. So long as the
illegal US occupation of the border area continues, Damascus
will not be able to rest easy with regard to the
security of its southern territories.
