MSNBC (‘verzetszender’ tegen Trump), bracht in een jaar tijd niet één artikel over de VS steun aan de genocide in Jemen…..

Fair
bracht vorige week dinsdag een bericht over de ‘aandacht’ van MSNBC (een
mediaorgaan in de VS dat als ‘verzetszender’ wordt gezien tegen
Trump) voor de rol van de VS in de oorlog die de Saoedische coalitie
voert tegen de sjiieten in Jemen…… Een oorlog die voor de
sjiieten is uitgedraaid op een ‘volwaardige’ genocide………

Het
gezeur over de relatie van Trump met ‘pornoster’ Stormy Daniels kwam van 2 juli 2017 tot 2 juli 2018 maar liefst 455 keer terug in de MSNBC berichtgeving, tegen 0 keer de VS steun aan de genocide die de Saoedische coalitie in Jemen uitvoert……… 

Vreemd
is het wel, immers MSNBC doet niets liever dan Trump demoniseren, wat
wil je nog meer als je ziet dat hij een genocide tegen de sjiitische
bevolking van Jemen steunt, zowel militair als middels leveringen van rollend en vliegend oorlogstuig, plus ‘natuurlijk’ de levering van wapens en
munitie……. Ach zo vreemd is het nu ook weer niet, immers MSNBC is
o.a. grootlobbyist voor het militair-industrieel complex en zoals je
weet dat complex draait op zoveel mogelijk oorlog, om de winsten voor
de aandeelhouders zo hoog mogelijk te houden…….

het artikel van Adam Johnson, hieronder overgenomen van Anti-Media, echter wel met een kleine aantekening: Johnson
stelt dat onder Trump de bemoeienis met Jemen veel agressiever is
dan onder Obama, echter onder Obama is de steun voor de genocide
begonnen en onder Obama werden de clusterbommen geleverd die
Saoedi-Arabië heeft afgeworpen op
Jemen…… Onder Obama begon de VS met het in de lucht bijtanken van
de bommenwerpers en straaljagers van de Saoedische coalitie, zodat deze zo efficiënt mogelijk de enorme oorlogsmisdaden konden en kunnen uitvoeren…..

Ook
hebben speciale troepen van de VS onder Obama meerdere keren
ingegrepen op Jemenitische bodem en nam de VS de regie over de
bombardementen voor haar rekening (om nog maar te zwijgen over de het grote aantal moorden in Jemen middels drones*, ook dat werd onder Obama geïntensiveerd…)…. Gezien het voorgaande heeft Trump amper
meer gedaan dan op de Jemenitische winkel letten……..

ACTION ALERT: It’s Been Over a Year Since MSNBC Has Mentioned US War in Yemen

Why
is the No. 1 outlet of alleged anti-Trump #resistance completely
ignoring his most devastating war?

(FAIR) As
FAIR has noted before (1/8/18, 3/20/18),
to MSNBC, the
carnage and destruction the US and its Gulf Monarchy allies are
leveling against the poorest country in the Arab world is simply a
non-issue.

On
July 2, a year had passed since the cable network’s last segment
mentioning US participation in the war on Yemen, which has killed in
excess of 15,000 people and resulted in over a million
cases of cholera.
The US is backing a Saudi-led
bombing campaign with
intelligence, refueling, political cover, military hardware and, as
of March, ground
troops.
None of this matters at all to what Adweek (4/3/18)
calls “the network of the Resistance,” which has since its last
mention of the US’s role in the destruction of Yemen found time
to run
over a dozen segments highlighting
war crimes committed by the Syrian and Russian governments in Syria.

By
way of contrast, as MSNBC was
marking a year without mentioning the US role in Yemen, the PBS
NewsHour was
running a three-part
series on
the war, with the second part (7/3/18)
headlined, “American-Made Bombs in Yemen Are Killing Civilians,
Destroying Infrastructure and Fueling Anger at the US.”

NewsHour (7/3/18) examining the remains of US-made cluster bombs in
Yemen.

“The
aerial bombing campaign has not managed to dislodge the rebels, but
has hit weddings, hospitals and homes. The US military supports the
Saudi coalition with logistics and intelligence. The United States it
also sells the Saudis and coalition partners many of the bombs they
drop on Yemen.”

Joe did
run one segment (4/25/18)
that vaguely mentioned the war on Yemen, but failed to note the US’s
role in it at all, much less that Washington is arming and backing
the conflict’s primary aggressor. Instead, they did the perverse
inversion––previously mastered by Washington
Post’s
Jackson Diehl (FAIR.org, 6/27/17)—of
not only ignoring the US’s major role in killing thousands, but
painting the US as a noble haven for refugees. The schlocky segment,
an interview with writer Mohammed Al Samawi, was a shallow mixture of
“interfaith” pablum, poverty porn and self-congratulations to the
US for taking in refugees (without, of course, acknowledging that
they’re seeking refuge from a crisis the US has created).

For
a bit more context, in the time period of July 3, 2017, to July 3,
2018, MSNBC dedicated
zero segments to the US’s war in Yemen, but 455
segments to Stormy Daniels.
This isn’t to suggest the Stormy Daniels matter isn’t
newsworthy—presidential corruption is per se important. But one has
to wonder if this particular thread of venality is 455 stories more
important than Trump aggressively supporting a war that’s killing
hundreds of people a month, injuring thousands, and subjecting
millions to famine and cholera. Did MSNBC editors,
poring over the latest academic foreign policy literature, really
come to the conclusion Trump’s war in Yemen isn’t important? Or
is MSNBC simply
fueled by partisan Russia dot-connecting and stories that allow them
to say “porn star” as much as possible?

What seems most likely is MSNBC has found that attacking Russia form the right on matters of foreign policy is the most elegant way to preserve its “progressive” image while still serving traditional centers of power—namely, the Democratic Party establishment, corporate sponsors, and their own revolving door of ex-spook and military contractor-funded talking heads (3/26/18). After all, Obama backed the war on Yemen—though not nearly as aggressively as Trump has—and it’s difficult to make a coherent left-wing, anti-war criticism when the current Republican in office is simply carrying out your guy’s policy, but on steroids.

In
any event, it’s not like any Yemenis are going to pull ads, turn
down appearances, or phone Comcast higher-ups
complaining. So, who cares? To be poor and brown—to say nothing of
not serving the immediate partisan interests of the Democratic
party—is evidently to not matter much in the eyes
of MSNBC producers and on-air talent.

Amnesty
Inbternational bracht deze maand een rapport uit over de situatie in
Jemen, getiteld ‘God Knows If He’s Alive’. Hierin aandacht voor de
vreselijke martelingen, moorden en verdwijningen onder verantwoording van de Saoedische coalitie, die door dik en dun gesteund wordt door
de VS (die ook de regie voert over de bombardementen en veel van de
gevechten op de grond…) en Groot-Brittannië (verantwoordelijk voor: militair advies, leveringen van wapens, munitie en militaire hardware als vliegend en rollend oorlogstuig…..)

Mensen
zijn wanhopig op zoek naar familieleden die gevangen werden genomen
door de barbaarse Saoedische coalitie, waar de Verenigde Arabische
Emiraten, ofwel VAE (in Engels: UAE >>United Arab Emirates),
veel van de geheime gevangenissen in Jemen controleren…… Er is een netwerk van geheim gevangenissen in de door de Saoedische coalitie gecontroleerd gebied, waar mensen worden gemarteld en vermoord en van waaruit ze
‘verdwijnen….’* (‘tijd voor het koningspaar, Rutte en Blok om een
bezoek te brengen aan deze reli-fascistische gewelddadige koninklijke dictatuur staatjes….’)

de verschrikkingen waarmee de sjiieten in Jemen te maken hebben,
alsof het land nog niet genoeg lijdt onder het enorme aantal oorlogsmisdaden begaan door de moorddadige Saoedische

“If
they would just confirm to us that my brother is alive, if they would
just let us see him, that’s all we want. But we can’t get anyone
to give us any confirmation. My mother dies a hundred times every
day. They don’t know what that is like.” 


In
July of 2018, an Amnesty
International report
entitled “God
Knows If He’s Alive,”documented
the plight of dozens of families in southern Yemen whose loved ones
have been tortured, killed, or forcibly disappeared by Yemeni
security forces reporting to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The
UAE is part of the Saudi-led coalition that, with vital US support,
has been bombarding and blockading famine and disease-ravaged Yemen
for three brutal years. The disappearances, and torture, can sadly be
laid at the doorstep of the United States.

One
testimonial after another echoes the sentiments of a woman whose
husband has been held incommunicado for more than two years.
“Shouldn’t they be given a trial?” she asked. “Why else are
there courts? They shouldn’t be disappeared this way – not only
are we unable to visit them, we don’t even know if they are dead or
alive.”


The
report describes bureaucratic farces in which families beg for
information about their loved ones’ whereabouts from Yemeni
prosecutors and prison officials, but the families’ pleas for
information are routinely met with silence or intimidation.

The
families are appealing to an unelected Yemeni exile government whose
president, Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, (when “elected” president in
2012, he was the only candidate) generally resides in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia. The UAE has, so far, supported Hadi’s claim to govern
Yemen. However, the Prosecutor General of Hadi’s government, as
well as other officials, told Amnesty International the government of
Yemen has no control over operations “spearheaded by the UAE and
implemented by the Yemeni forces it backs.”

When
months and years pass and families of people who are missing still
have no news about their loved ones, some try to communicate
unofficially with prison guards or with former detainees who have
been released from various detention sites. They repeatedly hear
stories about torture of detainees and rumors about prisoners who
died in custody.

The
Amnesty report implicates UAE-backed local forces in Yemen, as well
as the UAE military, in the crimes of torture and other ill-treatment
of detainees. Of seven former or current detainees interviewed by
Amnesty, five said they were subjected to these abuses. “All seven
witnessed other detainees being tortured,” the report adds,
“including one who said he saw a detainee held in a cell next to
him being carried away in a body bag after he had been repeatedly
tortured.”

In
June 2017, Human
Rights Watch and
the Associated Press exposed a network of clandestine prisons
operated by the UAE in Yemen. Their reports described ghastly torture
inflicted on prisoners and noted that senior US military leaders knew
about torture allegations. Yet, a year later, there has been no
investigation of these allegations by the Yemeni government, by the
UAE, or by the UAE’s most powerful ally in the Yemen war, the
United States.

“It is shocking, to say the least,”
the Amnesty report states, “that one year after a network of secret
prisons operated by the UAE and the Yemeni forces it backs was
exposed, these facilities continue to operate and that there has not
been a serious investigation undertaken into credibly documented
violations, including systemic torture in custody.” The Amnesty
report calls on the US to “facilitate independent oversight,
including by the US Congress, over US military or intelligence
cooperation with Yemeni and UAE forces involved in detention
activities in Yemen.” It further calls for investigating any
involvement of US military or intelligence personnel in
detention-related abuses in Yemen.

To
date, the US continues selling weapons to the UAE and to its
coalition partner, Saudi Arabia, despite several Congressional
debates and a few increasingly close votes demanding a full or
partial end to US weapons sales considering the terrible practices
being carried out as part of the Yemen war.

Since
March of 2015, a coalition of nine countries led by Saudi Arabia and
the UAE and relying on crucial U.S. logistical aid, has bombarded
Yemen while blockading its major port, despite Yemen’s status as
one of the poorest countries in the world. Targeting transportation,
electrical plants, sewage and sanitation facilities, schools,
mosques, weddings and funerals, the vicious bombing has led to
starvation, displacement, and the spread of disease
including cholera.

On
the same day that the Amnesty report was released, Saudi
Arabia’s King
Salman (Salman al-Saoed) pardoned
“all military men, who have taken part in the Operation Restoring
Hope of their respective military and disciplinary penalties, in
regard of some rules and disciplines.” It seems likely that the
Amnesty report precipitated this royal decree**.

Along
with three countries in North Africa’s “Sahel” desert region,
Yemen has been cited as part of the worst famine crisis in the
70-year history of the UN. In the past three years of aerial and
naval attacks, Yemen’s key port of Hodeidah has remained partially
or fully closed despite the country’s vital need for relief
supplies. And, while Yemenis suffer the chaos and despair
characteristic of war, the Saudis and UAE refer to the war as
“Operation Restoring Hope.”

Many
thousands of Yemenis, subjected to consistent bombing and threats of
starvation and famine, have fled their homes. Many seek refuge out of
Yemen. For instance, close to 500 Yemenis have traveled nearly 500
miles to reach a visa-free port on South Korea’s Jeju Island. On
July 21, during an international
phone call hosted
by young friends in Afghanistan, listeners heard Kaia, a resident of
Jeju Island, describe the “Hope School.” She explained how she
and several other young people are trying to help welcome Yemenis now
living in their village of Gangjeong. 


The young people are already committed to peacefully resisting U.S.
and South Korean military destruction of their shoreline and
ecosystem. Now, they have started an informal school so Yemeni and
South Korean residents can learn from one another. Small groups
gather for conversational exchanges translated from Arabic to English
to Korean. Many South Koreans can recall, in their own familial
history, that seven million Koreans fled Japanese occupation of their
land. Their Korean forebears relied on hospitality from people in
other lands. 


The Catholic Bishop of the Jeju diocese, Monsignor
Kang Woo-il,
called on Koreans to embrace Yemeni refugees, labeling it a crime
against human morality to shut the door on refugees and migrants. Kaia’s
account of the newly launched school describes an effort that
truthfully involves restoring hope. The cynical designation of Saudi
and UAE led war in Yemen as “Operation Restoring Hope” creates an
ugly smokescreen that distracts from the crucial need to investigate
war crimes committed in Yemen today.  

US
citizens bear responsibility for the US government’s support of
these crimes.

The
Yemenis mean us no harm and have committed no crime against us.
Congressional votes have come quite close, with bipartisan support,
to ending US participation in and support for the Saudi and Emirati
led Coalition war against Yemen. Ending arms sales to the UAE and
Saudi monarchies, supported by both sides of the aisle, will signal
to the UAE and Saudi Arabia the US will no longer assist their
efforts to prolong war and siege in Yemen. On cue from the
initiative and energy shown by young South Koreans, people in the US
can and should organize campaigns to educate their communities,
educational institutions, and media outlets about the plight of
people in Yemen. Conscious of the nightmare faced by Yemenis whose
husbands, brothers, fathers and sons have been disappeared or
detained by shadowy military enforcers, US people can work toward
implementing each recommendation in Amnesty’s devastating report.

Saoedi-Arabië geeft toe gruwelijke oorlogsmisdaden te hebben begaan in Jemen en nog
onderneemt men geen stappen tegen deze bloederige dictatuur, die
schunnig genoeg door de reguliere westerse media, het grootste deel
van de westerse politici en zelfs door Wikipedia wordt aangeduid als ‘koninkrijk…..’ Bovendien wordt S-A door diezelfde media en politici regelmatig genoemd als bestrijder van terreur…… 

Nee,
Saoedi-Arabië geeft haar gruwelijke oorlogsmisdaden natuurlijk niet
letterlijk toe, oorlogsmisdaden waarvan verreweg de grootste wel het uitvoeren van een genocide is, een genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van
Jemen…

Hele
huizenblokken heeft de Saoedische coalitie onder regie en met hulp
van de VS platgegooid, dit nog naast de vernieling van ziekenhuizen,
scholen, energiecentrales, waterzuiveringsinstallaties en de
infrastructuur in brede zin, zoals de riolering, waardoor een cholera uitbraak kon
ontstaan…… (een cholera uitbraak die nog steeds een groot aantal slachtoffers maakt, een paar weken geleden bombardeerde Saoedi-Arabië nog een ziekenhuis dat net was opgeleverd, een ziekenhuis van Artsen zonder Grenzen en gespecialiseerd in cholera…..*)

Door
de acties van de Saoediërs is er ook honger ontstaan in Jemen (weet
je nog de landelijke actie eind maart vorig jaar?) en heeft het land
sinds vorig jaar ook te kampen met een difterie uitbraak….. Ondanks dat blokkeert S-A met hulp van de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) en de VS het door de Houthi’s beheerste gebied, waardoor humanitaire hulpgoederen niet of amper de zo onder terreur liggende bevolking bereiken…….

Terug
naar de reden voor dit bericht: de reli-fascistische dictatuur van
Saoedi-Arabië heeft besloten haar militairen niet te vervolgen voor
de misdaden begaan tegen het sjiitische volk van Jemen, dit om de
‘heroïsche inzet’ van de militairen te vieren……. Hoe godvergeten
cynisch wil je het hebben..???!!!! Jezus op een houtvlot!!

Lullig genoeg heeft de Saoedische dictatuur het voor elkaar gekregen van de VN dat het zelf de wandaden van haar politie (ook in eigen land gaat S-A tekeer tegen sjiieten..) en het leger mag onderzoeken…… Terecht vraagt Jason Ditz zich in het hieronder opgenomen artikel af, wat de zin van zo’n onderzoek is, als je van tevoren al zegt niet te zullen vervolgen, sterker nog: deze militairen zelfs te zullen eren……. 

Wedden dat de VS en Israël, beiden als S-A terreurstaten, dit land hebben gesteund in haar eis aan de VN zelf onderzoek in te stellen?

Als het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) in Den Haag nu geen onderzoek instelt naar de genocide die S-A uitvoert op de sjiieten in Jemen, toont het voorgoed aan totaal overbodig en een lachertje te zijn!!

Saudi
Arabia Issues Royal Pardon for Everything Soldiers Have Done in Yemen

(ANTIWAR.COM) — On
Tuesday, Saudi Arabia announced
that it is issuing a royal pardon for any and all Saudi
troops engaged
in the war in Yemen, covering all crimes related to violating
military rules and discipline. They said this is to show appreciation
for the “heroics” of the invading forces.

The
Saudi invasion of Yemen has been widely controversial
internationally. Saudi airstrikes have killed massive numbers of
Yemeni civilians, and the war has also caused a famine, and the
largest cholera epidemic in human history.

Faced
with UN criticism, Saudi officials heavily resisted allegations of
wrongdoing, and ultimately got the UN to agree that Saudi Arabia
would be allowed to investigate its own forces, and police
themselves. This pardon shows none of that is going to matter.

It
is unclear what prompted the pardon to be offered no, as the war
shows no sign of ending, and there is no suggestion from official
reports that the Saudis had punished any of their troops more than
nominally for war crimes in the first place.

Het Britse bedrijf Strategic
Communication Laboratories (SCL Group), waarvan de VS tak ofwel
dochtermaatschappij het vermaledijde Cambridge Analytica is, viel fiks
door de mand (met bewijzen >> gelekte officiële documenten) voor o.a. het manipuleren van
verkiezingen, terwijl voor ‘Russische manipulaties na godbetert 2 jaar nog steeds geen
flinter aan bewijs is geleverd……..’ Overigens ook in WikiLeaks zijn bewijzen te vinden van VS manipulaties van verkiezingen elders… Zo de waard is vertrouwt deze zijn/haar gasten, om nog eens een cliché aan te halen, al is de waard de VS …..

SCL gebruikte in 2009 m.n. Jemen als
proefgebied voor haar smerige spelletjes….. De in Jemen ontwikkelde
onderzoeks- en psychologische tactieken, werden later gebruikt tegen
bevolkingen de wereld rond, o.a. in landen als Libië, Syrië en
Iran……

SCL heeft een dubieuze reputatie van
stoken in conflictgebieden, zoals deze organisatie dit heeft gedaan in Nigeria, Oekraïne, Litouwen en
in meerdere westerse landen…… (zie de link onder het hieronder opgenomen artikel)

Randi Nord, schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, eerder gepubliceerd op Geopolitics Alert, neemt m.n. Project Titania onder de loep, dit is het project van SCL dat in 2009 van start ging in Jemen, een project waarvan men de uitkomsten heeft ingezet in een aantal andere landen….. 

Heel smerig is het gebruik van informatie door SCL, informatie die door o.a. NGO’s werd verzameld…… SCL Group gebruikte (en gebruikt) deze informatie voor psychologische manipulaties en zelfs voor psychologische oorlogsvoering……. SCL Group lanceerde Project Titania t.b.v. een militaire onderaannemer genaamd Archimedes……..

Sinds Project Titania van start ging hebben de VS en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) 18 ‘black site prisons’ geopend in Jemen, ofwel geheime gevangenissen waar men martelt en de ergste vorm van marteling >> verkrachting toepast op gevangenen die niet eens zijn veroordeeld, gevangenen van wie niemand uit de achterban weet waar ze zijn, zoals je zal begrijpen uit het voorgaande…..

Analytica Parent Co. Used Yemen as Test Site for Global Manipulation
Tactics

London (GPA)
– Leaked documents show that Strategic Communication Laboratories
(SCL), the parent company of the notorious Cambridge Analytica,
carried out a surveillance operation embedded among local Yemeni
populations in 2009. The research and psychological tactics of
deception were likely later used against populations around the world
including Libya, Syria, and Iran where SCL Group carried out
various operations to influence social climates on behalf of their
clients.

SLC
Group has a dubious history of stirring up trouble with
“psychological warfare” in places like Nigeria, Ukraine, Latvia
and many Western countries.

The
leaked documents, obtained by the Grayzone
Project,
detail a program called “Project Titania” carried out in Yemen
which SCL Group appears to have used for honing their psychological
manipulation skills. Grayzone spoke
with a media professional who SCL attempted to recruit for an
operation in Iran in 2009.

According
to SCL Group, they launched Project Titania on behalf of an entity
called Archimedes — a U.S.-based military contractor. This
highlights the dangers of private companies like Facebook and Google
merging with the military-industrial complex.

Since
launching Project Titania, the United States and United Arab Emirates
have opened 18
black site prisons in
Yemen for arbitrarily detaining, torturing, and sexually abusing 

Project
Titania

Strategic
Communication Laboratories (SLC) launched Project Titania in 2009
between June and July in very specific areas of Yemen’s Marib
province and al-Mukalla city in Hadramaut province. Working on behalf
of their client (a U.S.-based military contractor), SCL Group chose
these locations after careful consideration and research about
al-Qaeda’s (AQAP) growing presence.

Project
Titania included four main phases: motivation and segmentation,
research plan, field phase, analysis, and reporting. The experience
SCL Group gained and the tactics they used were later employed
throughout the rest of the world for other clients.

In
Yemen, SCL’s goal with Project Titania was to reduce what they
called “non-desired behaviors” or NDB by using something called
“communication campaigns.” In Project Titania’s case, “the
non-desired behavior” involved young men joining terrorist groups
like al-Qaeda. Research leading up to the communication campaign
included recorded interviews and questionnaires with local Yemenis
while deceiving respondents about the interview’s or
questionnaire’s purpose.

The
victims’ responses were later used to determine if NDBs (joining
terrorist groups)

could
be reduced through deceptive intervention techniques.

Open-source
Deskwork

A
large portion of Project Titania took place before the foreign agents
even began conducting interviews. Researchers at SCL Group used
open-source information from NGOs, local publications, census data,
“earlier studies,” and other entities deemed relevant or
accurate.This draws into question the role non-governmental
organizations play supporting the military-industrial complex.

The
public doesn’t hear about this scenario too often, but it’s
really not uncommon for U.S. military contractors or other
individuals with ulterior motives to seek employment at NGOs. In
2015, the Yemeni resistance group Ansarullah (aka. the Houthis)
apprehended a U.S.
military contractor working
undercover for the Red Cross in Yemen. The contractor, Scott Darden,
was tasked with setting up sleeper cells and safe houses for U.S.
commando units inside Ansarullah-held territory.

Undercover

SCL
Group employed what they called “Researchers” to conduct recorded
interviews with local Yemenis to gather psychosocial information
about relevant issues, historic context, language, literacy, channel
exposure, channel credibility, noise, values, attitudes and beliefs,
current behavior, common enemies, binary opposition, decision paths,
power structures, message appeals, skills, intent, motivations, and
everything else that makes a person tick.

SCL
Group’s “Researchers” told the victims that the questionnaires
and interviews were for seemingly benign purposes like market
research. “Prior
to completing the interview or the questionnaire, all
participants will be given a rationale for the study (i.e., that the
study is part of a university research programme or a market research
programme),” the
document reads.

Each
questionnaire contained 35 questions and took about 30 minutes to
complete. SCL Group carried out 30 in-depth interviews and a
staggering 300 guided interviews during a mere month-long period in
the two target locations. The respondents were also asked to provide
their gender, education level, income level, religious affiliation,
and other demographic data in addition to the psychosocial questions.

Understanding
and Using the Data

Groups
of eight Researchers were lead by a team leader known as a Research
Leader. Their goals were to answer the following questions about
al-Qaeda in Marib and al-Mukalla but it’s easy to see how the same
strategy was later applied elsewhere among different populations with
different goals.

Accessibility: how
easy is it to gain access into the group or contact people in the
group?

Salience
of Impact: how
likely is the communication campaign to change NDB?

Problem
Relevance: how
relevant is a factor to the client’s goals and objectives?

Measurability: any
instance of applying numbers to the behavior

Influenceability: how
likely is the campaign to influence the target audience behavior?

The
research described here was part of a larger campaign to influence
behavior in Marib and al-Mukalla. The entire project included three
steps: identify campaign target groups (CTG), understand
campaign target groups to develop an influencing plan, and
understanding a target audience to create an influence path to the
CTG.

A
Few Things…

In
Project Titania’s case, the “campaign target group” included
young men at risk for joining al-Qaeda but, again, it’s very easy
to see how this same strategy could be applied in numerous situations
to produce a desirable social climate for any client.

It’s
possible that these tactics were used by one entity or another for
several purposes since 2009 including in now-current war zones like
Syria or Libya as well as elections in various countries throughout
the entire world.

The
detailed assessment and analysis SCL Group conducted of Marib and
al-Mukalla shows that similar or affiliated entities like Cambridge
Analytica run into no trouble gathering publicly available or
user-provided information from social media, NGOs, censuses, and
other sources before even lifting a finger to conduct their own
questionnaires or interviews.

However,
SCL Group’s detailed assessment of Yemen’s 2009 current and
future political situation were not at all accurate as they described
the overall political security as “country collapse currently
slim.” We all know how that’s worked out.

The
report mainly appeared concerned with AQAP and, to a lesser extent,
Yemen’s southern separatist movement al-Hirak. Unsurprisingly, SCL
Group highly underestimated Ansarullah’s potential for gaining
enough public support to control the capital city and most of the
northern provinces. Their report knocks the Houthis for “draining
precious military resources” (the then-president Ali Abdullah Saleh
was receiving military support from the United States to keep
al-Qaeda at bay).

The
report also counters Saudi
Arabia’s line that
Ansarullah (the Houthis) are a terrorist group. The document mentions
that hostilities might occur, but it mentions nothing about violent
terror attacks on civilians akin to al-Qaeda. If SCL Group (or the
U.S. military contractor they were conducting Project Titania on
behalf of) believed that the Houthi group was apt to launch similar
attacks or behave like al-Qaeda, SCL probably would have lumped them
into the project’s research.

It’s
also worth mentioning that since Project Titania, the United States
and United Arab Emirates have set up a series of 18 black site
detention centers throughout areas of Yemen under their control. The
victims are swept up under the guise of fighting al-Qaeda, but locals
say the men were arbitrarily detained and forced into confessions
with physical and sexual torture.

Het
zal voor weinigen nog een verrassing zijn dat de gewelddadige psychopaat Pompeo een enorme
schoft is die vaker liegt dan de waarheid spreekt. Het laatste
‘wapenfeit’ (althans voor zover ik weet) is zijn uiteenzetting over
de gaande zijnde genocide in Jemen (een genocide die hij ‘als christen uiteraard’ niet zo noemt).

Ploert Pompeo durft de schuld voor de ellende van de bevolking in Jemen in de schoenen van Iran te schuiven, terwijl de enige bemoeienis van Iran met de dood voor ogen hebbende sjiitische bevolking in Jemen, het sturen van humanitaire
hulpgoederen is……. Voor al de door de VS en Saoedi-Arabië gemaakte
beschuldigingen aan het adres van Iran, dat het wapens, raketten en militaire training zou geven aan de Houthi rebellen, is tot op heden niet één
bewijs geleverd, terwijl die beschuldigingen al een paar jaar lang
worden gemaakt…….

De
Saoedische coalitie die in feite een illegale oorlog voert tegen de Jemenitische sjiieten (onder regie en met hulp van de VS), heeft door haar bombardementen
en blokkades gezorgd voor een gigantische cholera uitbraak waar, bovenop ook
nog eens een grote difterie uitbraak plaatsvond en dat voor een bevolking
die honger lijdt….. Ziekenhuizen, scholen, elektriciteitscentrales,
waterzuiveringsinstallaties, en hele woonwijken werden door de
Saoedische coalitie gebombardeerd, allen enorme oorlogsmisdaden!! Het
laatste ziekenhuis dat door deze moorddadige coalitie werd
gebombardeerd was een net afgebouwd ziekenhuis van Artsen zonder
Grenzen, een ziekenhuis om de cholera uitbraak te bestrijden……

De
VS tankt de straaljagers en bommenwerpers van deze Saoedische
coalitie af in de lucht, zodat ze zo ‘efficiënt’ mogelijk hun
moorddadig werk kunnen doen….. Voorts
helpt de VS de Saoediërs mee met de blokkade op zee en vechten er
met grote regelmaat VS speciale troepen op de grond in Jemen*, zogenaamd
ingezet tegen IS, maar blijkbaar denkt de VS legerleiding dat de
Houthi rebellen voor IS vechten, terwijl ze dondersgoed weten dat de
Houthi’s juist erg succesvol waren in het bestrijden van IS en Al Qaida, die onderdak kregen in Jemen van de huidige ‘president’ Al-Hadi, voordat deze vrijwillig vertrok (S-A zette hem onder druk terug te
keren zodat hij de Saoediërs te hulp kon roepen in de strijd tegen de
Houthi rebellen en S-A met haar moorddadig werk tegen de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen en haar beschermers de Houthi rebellen kon beginnen….)

Voorts levert de VS, als Groot-Brittannië, wapens, munitie (waaronder een tijdlang clusterbommen en sinds kort ook ‘slimme munitie’), training en militaire hardware als straaljagers en ander moorddadig wapentuig, aan de reli-fascistische dictatuur in Saoedi-Arabië……. (dit nog naast het adviseren van het Saoedische militaire apparaat, ofwel het regisseren en coördineren van bombardementen en gevechtsacties op de grond, door dezelfde VS…..)

Pompeo
zou vervolgd moeten worden voor zijn enorme leugens (en oorlogshitserij), die voor velen
zelfs een doodvonnis betekenden……. (waar men meteen even kan kijken voor welke moorden en andere smerige praktijken Pompeo als verantwoordelijk is aan te wijzen tijdens zijn functie als directeur van de CIA……..)

The
Trump administration keeps desperately trying to shift the blame for
the catastrophe in Yemen away from the Saudi coalition and the U.S.:

’s support for Houthis in Yemen not only enables attacks on Saudi Arabia & UAE, but also risks increasing Yemen’s already massive humanitarian crisis. Ayatollah Khamenei must be held accountable for destabilizing Gulf’s security & prolonging suffering of the Yemeni people.

The
administration has consistently focused on the small Iranian role in
Yemen and exaggerated its importance while doing everything possible
to cover for the Saudis and Emiratis at the same time that the U.S.
has aided and abetted their bombing campaign and the many war crimes
they have committed. Even now that the coalition is launching an
offensive on the major port of Hodeidah that serves the vast majority
of the population, the U.S. is not calling them out for their
destabilizing and destructive activities. Instead of condemning the
coalition for putting millions of Yemeni lives in jeopardy, the U.S.
helps them to attack their impoverished neighbor. 


Instead of using
its influence with these governments to rein in their abuses and
alleviate the civilian population’s suffering, the U.S. gives them
carte blanche, never criticizes them even when they massacre
wedding-goers and
refugees, and goes out of its way to fault one of the few governments
in the region that isn’t attacking Yemen for the country’s
miserable state.

The
humanitarian crisis in Yemen is the worst in the world, and the
coalition blockade and bombing campaign are principal causes of that
crisis. If the administration were even slightly concerned with
addressing the suffering of Yemen’s people, it would not be
providing weapons, intelligence, and refueling to the coalition, and
it would be holding them accountable for their numerous and egregious
war crimes and crimes against humanity. They aren’t concerned, and
so they continue to support the war on Yemen no matter what the
coalition does. 


Support for this war is indefensible, so it is no
wonder that top U.S. officials have to try to distract the world from
what our government is enabling in Yemen. It is the Saudi and Emirati
governments along with ours and the coalition’s other Western
patrons that need to be called out and held accountable for creating
the disaster engulfing the people of Yemen.

niet meer moeten gebeuren dat ik m’n ogen niet geloof bij het lezen
van een bericht, immers waar moet je heden ten dage nog van opkijken,
zeker als het gaat over (illegale) oorlogsvoering en de tol in enorme
aantallen doden die deze barbarij teweegbrengt……..

Gelukkig
ben ik nog niet zo afgestompt en donder dan ook regelmatig van m’n
stoel bij het lezen of horen van nieuws. Zoals gisteren toen ik het artikel van Jake Johnson op Anti-Media
las: de VS heeft een grote deal gesloten met dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië (moet nog
worden goedgekeurd in o.a. het Congres, maar dat zal zeker gebeuren) voor enorme
leveringen van ‘slimme munitie’ waaronder een groot aantal ‘slimme bommen……’

Deels is deze munitie order ook voor de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), die deel uitmaken van de Saoedische coalitie en die intussen ook delen van Jemen bezet houden…… 

Overigens is deze wapendeal één van meerdere deals die de VS (en Groot-Brittannië) jaarlijks uitleveren aan de reli-fascistische terreurstaat Saoedi-Arabië…….  

Onlangs nog bombardeerde de Saoedische coalitie een bruiloft
in Jemen >> 20 doden….. Geen reden voor de VS de samenwerking
met Saoedi-Arabië op te zeggen, welnee er worden nog meer bommen
geleverd zodat S-A de klus kan afmaken: het gebied van de Houthi
rebellen totaal vernietigen…….. Dat zou tevens ‘de vervolmaking’ zijn van de genocide die S-A uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking van
Jemen………..

Waar
blijven de hypocriete reguliere westerse media en westerse politici
met commentaar op deze uiterst smerige zaak???? Nogmaals het gaat hier om een genocide die wordt uitgevoerd tegen de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen!!
Dat zouden we na Rwanda toch nooit meer ‘over onze kant

Civilian Deaths in Yemen Mount, US to Sell Saudi Arabia Billions More
in Bombs

demonstrating the willingness of the U.S. to reward and perpetuate
the war
crimes of
its allies, the Trump administration is reportedly moving ahead with
a multi-billion-dollar sale of so-called “smart
bombs”
to Saudi Arabia just weeks after the U.S.-backed Saudi-led
coalition bombed a wedding in Yemen,
killing more than 20 people.

First reported by The
Intercept‘s
Alex Emmons on Friday, the precise details of the deal—which also
includes weapons sales to the United Arab Emirates—are not entirely
unclear as it is in the preliminary stages, “but it is said to
include tens of thousands of precision-guided munitions from
Raytheon,” the company that helped produce weaponry used in the
deadly wedding airstrike last month.

“The
sale in question is a direct commercial transaction between Raytheon
and the Gulf countries, which does not require the government to
publicly announce the sale at the time of congressional
notification,” Emmons reported. “That means it will be up to
senators to decide how many of the details to make public.”

The
reported weapons deal—which could be sent to Congress as early as
next week—comes as some American lawmakers are increasingly calling
attention to U.S. complicity in Saudi Arabia’s vicious, years-long
assault on Yemen.

In
March, Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), and Mike
Lee (R-Utah) led
a failed legislative effort to
bring an end to U.S. military assistance to Saudi Arabia.

“The
Saudi-led intervention in Yemen, with U.S. support, has been a
humanitarian disaster,” Sanders said after his resolution was voted
down with the help of 10 Democrats.

Responding
to reports of the “smart bomb” sale on Friday, Win Without War

in Yemen so far this year, with a sharp increase in casualties.”

“At
least 236 civilians were killed and 238 injured in Yemen in April—a
total of 474 civilian casualties, well over double the 180 civilian
casualties documented in March this year,” the office of the the
U.N.

High
Commissioner for Human Rights noted in
a press briefing on Friday. “Between 26 March 2015 and 10 May 2018,
our office has documented a total of 16,432 civilian casualties—6,385
dead and 10,047 injured. The vast majority of these—10,185 civilian
casualties—were as a result of airstrikes carried out by the
Saudi-led Coalition.”

Onlangs
werd bekend gemaakt dat de VS o.a. Saoedi-Arabië helpt bij de
bewaking van de grens tussen Jemen en Saoedi-Arabië. Oké weinig
nieuws want wie het (echte) nieuws over Jemen volgt (voor het overgrote
deel niet te vinden in de reguliere westerse media) wist al lang dat
de VS Saoedi-Arabië helpt bij de genocide die het in buurland Jemen
uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking. Bijvoorbeeld door de
straaljagers en bommenwerpers van de Saoedische coalitie bij te
tanken in de lucht, zodat ze ‘zo efficiënt mogelijk’ vooral
burgerdoelen kunnen bombarderen.

Bij
die beschietingen en bombardementen worden ook veel kinderen en
vrouwen vermoord, maar dat interesseert het westen niet, precies dat
ligt in Syrië heel anders, al staat men daar op de kop n.a.v.
leugens gebracht door de terreurgroepen via het Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) en terreur
ondersteuners White Helmets, die gelinkt zijn aan Al Qaida….. Nee, het Syrisch bewind is de boosdoener en het leven van een kind in Syrië is zo’n 10.000 maal belangrijker dan een kind van sjiitische ouders in Jemen……

Dan
is er nog de zeeblokkade van Jemenitische havens die in handen zijn van de Houthi
rebellen (of: Ansarullah), een blokkade die deels door de VS wordt uitgevoerd….. De zeeblokkade, plus de blokkades aan de landgrenzen hebben er samen voor gezorgd dat er een
hongersnood is ontstaan in Jemen (één van de grootste
oorlogsmisdaden die kunnen worden begaan >> het uithongeren van
de bevolking, waaronder alweer heel veel kinderen…..)……..

Met
de enorme aantallen bombardementen (met o.a. clusterbommen) op ziekenhuizen, scholen,
energiecentrales, waterzuiveringsinstallaties, water bedrijven en de
(ook sanitaire) infrastructuur, is er een enorme uitbraak van cholera
ontstaan in Jemen, die gevolgd werd door een difterie uitbraak…..


Blijkbaar niet genoeg voor de VS zo blijkt uit het volgende artikel van Randi Nord, waarin ze onder meer spreekt over 18 geheime gevangenissen die de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE >> onderdeel van de Saoedische coalitie) heeft gebouwd in door hen beheerst Jemenitisch gebied, waar onder VS regie wordt gemarteld……..

– For the past three years, the United States has attempted to
disguise, manipulate, or outright deny its involvement in Yemen.
Nonetheless, new facts come to light every so often that indicate
Washington’s participation in the Saudi-led war is much more
hands-on than officials let on.

The
Covert Role of the US in Yemen

The
recent news about Green Berets deployed along the Saudi border
highlights the ever-growing U.S. role. So, what else is
Washington not disclosing about the US in Yemen?

The
United States regime has consistently downplayed its role in Yemen
while news emerges that counters this narrative. Let’s take a look
at everything the United States has done while insisting its role in
Yemen is passive.

Green
Berets Deployed Along the Saudi-Yemen Border

News
emerged last week that Green Berets are stationed along the
Saudi-Yemen border to assist Saudi troops. A report from the New
York Times says
12 commandos arrived back in December. The NYT received this
information from American officials and European diplomats who claim
the Green Berets’ only mission is to destroy weapons caches
belonging to Yemeni forces.

This
timing coincides with a high-profile long-range missile launch by
Yemeni forces targeting Riyadh in response to the ongoing airstrikes.
The missile launch in question took place in early November. This is
the same missile launch U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki
Haley, used fragments from to suggest a U.S. war against Iran.

The
NYT’s sources said that the Green Berets have not and will not
participate in direct combat with Yemeni forces. Ansarullah (aka “the
Houthis”) troops known as Yemen’s Army and Popular Committees
have not shared any photos or reports indicating direct combat
either. At this point, the “no direct combat” claim seems to
stand.

It’s
worth mentioning that the US deployed these Green Berets in December
yet Yemen’s resistance forces have launched countless retaliatory
missile attacks on Saudi targets since.

A U.S.
Army Lieutenant Now Serves for the United Arab Emirates in Yemen
— Seriously

This
week, Buzzfeed
reported that
a former U.S. Army lieutenant now serves for the United Arab
Emirates. Prior to joining the Emiratis, Stephen Toumajan
served as a lieutenant colonel for the United States throughout
most of his career.

But
murdering Arabs in their own country isn’t Toumajan’s only
passion — he also ran a breast enhancement company in Tennessee
called “Breast Wishes.”

Although
Buzzfeed broke the story, this information comes from Toumajan’s
own admissions as well as an Emirati’s government website.

The
U.A.E. speaks highly of Toumajan as “his excellency” and promoted
him from his previous U.S. Army lieutenant position. He now serves as
a commander for the U.A.E. Joint Aviation Command manning
helicopters.

Depending
on who’s asking, Toumajan may deny his official status — it is,
after all, a very gray area legality-wise. When it came to a recent
child custody hearing, the American Emirati commander quickly
back-peddled on
his official involvement in the foreign military.

Speaking
to Buzzfeed via WhatsApp, Toumajan called himself a “civilian
contractor.”

This
highlights the growing instances of using for-profit hires (bluntly:
contract killers) to bypass standard military norms and international
law. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates both
utilize Blackwater
mercenaries for
boosting their military ranks.

These
countries have flooded Yemen with foreign
fighters to
kill indigenous Yemenis on their own soil. Fighters often hail from
Sudan and many Latin American countries like Columbia and Mexico.

The
U.A.E. takes particular advantage of this market and it’s very
common for foreigners to serve under the Emirati banner. Mike
Hindmarsh, for
example, is a retired Australian senior officer who now serves on the
U.A.E. Presidential Guard.

This
strategy allows the United States and western countries to station
troops in Yemen without stationing troops in Yemen.

UAE
and US in Yemen Establish 18 Black-site Torture Centers

Last
year, reports
emerged that
the US in Yemen helped the United Arab Emirates establish a series of
black-site detention centers throughout territory under their
control.

Inmates
at these 18 detention centers cited unspeakable torture. One device,
known as “the grill,” roasted victims for interrogation. Guards
smeared detainees with feces and crammed them into what looks like
shipping containers in Yemen’s intense heat for indefinite amounts
of time. Beatings and electrocutions are commonplace.

Conditions
look similar — if not much worse — to the infamous Abu Graihb
U.S.-run detention center in Iraq.

According
to the Associated
Press,
U.S. and Emirati troops rounded up civilians without any
justification as part of sweeps to flush out suspected al-Qaeda
militants. It appears as though the prisons still function.

Low-key
Raids by the US in Yemen

Shortly
after Trump’s inauguration, Yemen made headlines. But the war-torn
nation didn’t break news because of the genocidal bombing campaign.
No, Yemen made headlines because a Navy Seal died in a disastrous
raid against suspected al-Qaeda militants — the Trump regime’s
first official military action.

Not
satisfied with the result, Washington ordered a similar raid just
months later.

The
first raid left 25 civilians dead while the second killed at least
five. Many readers may not know that a very young girl died during
one of these low-key raids — she was an eight-year-old American
citizen named Nawar al-Awlaki. A 70-year-old partially blind man also
died.

Nawar
al-Awlaki. The daughter of alleged AQAP recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki who
were both American citizens killed by US drone strikes or raids in
Yemen.

Again,
Navy Seals did not leave the scene unscathed. In fact, conflicting
reports cast doubt on Washington’s official story. According to
local Yemeni
sources,
tribal fighters (not aligned to any group) killed or injured at least
30 U.S. and Gulf troops during the second raid which took place in
May.

Yemeni
sources also say that al-Qaeda fighters were not present in this
particular area of Marib province during the attack.

So,
why did the U.S. conduct the raid if al-Qaeda wasn’t even in the
area? This particular blunder may be attributed to a number of
factors including

  • Securing
    oil-rich land from rogue (anti-U.S. but not “terrorist”)
    indigenous tribal groups.

  • Bad
    intelligence — highly likely considering the U.S.-Saudi
    coalition’s general military failures in Yemen and on other
    battlefronts.

  • Something
    else that Washington hasn’t (and probably won’t) disclose.

Considering
that Yemen is known as the “secret war,” whatever the true goal
of the mission was is anyone’s guess.

Occupying
Socotra

Yemen
is isolated: the blockade restricts access to both foreign and
domestic journalists. As a result, detailed reporting about U.S.
involvement is hard to find — especially in regards to remote
Yemeni islands like Socotra and the Bab el Mandeb.  Socotra is a
small island between Yemen and Somalia and its territory belongs to
Yemen.

Abu
Dhabi has used their war in Yemen as a springboard to challenge
regional Saudi hegemony — with remarkable success. For just about
every Saudi failure in Yemen, you’ll find a success from the
Emirates. The United Arab Emirates began occupying Yemen’s Socotra
— a UNESCO World Heritage Site — early on during the war.

Residents
aren’t fond of their presence and have no desire to participate in
the mainland’s war. Emirati troops recently bribed Socotris during
a private door-to-door census: future cash and benefits for a
possible vote to secede and become part of the U.A.E. Abu Dhabi’s
assertiveness in Yemen has certainly rubbed their allies in Riyadh
the wrong way.

Considering
Washington’s close relationship with the Emirates, it’s hard to
imagine that the U.S. is sitting on the sidelines during this land
grab. This activity would require extreme stealth to avoid angering
Washington’s allies in Riyadh.

Selling
Internationally Banned Weapons to the Saudi Coalition

Saudi
Arabia and the US in Yemen have used the war as a testing grounds for
military action and weapons. Despite the United States condemning
Syria for suspected chemical weapons, the US has no problem selling
chemical weapons like white phosphorous to the Saudi coalition to use
in Yemen.

In
the war’s early days, Yemeni forces detained a large
number of trucks in
Marib province. The trucks contained materials which militants could
use to manufacture sarin gas. Yemeni sources believed the weapons
came from Turkish planes under the cover of humanitarian aid.

The
United States also sold cluster
munitions to
the Saudi coalition before coming under international pressure from
rights groups. Cluster bombs — previously manufactured in the
United States until very recently — are internationally banned.

Ibrahim
refuses to leave his father’s side who lost his life in a US-Saudi
terror attack on a wedding which produced 88 casualties.

Even
recent reports suggest the Saudis still use cluster bombs in Yemen.
It’s unclear whether the United States or the United Kingdom
provide the supply or if Riyadh is working through an old stockpile.

Occupying
Oil Fields

The
United States isn’t supposed to have any troops stationed in Yemen.
Washington maintains that its role in Yemen involves two key goals:
supporting the Saudi coalition and countering al-Qaeda influence.

Last
summer, Emirati
troops greeted U.S. soldiers in
Yemen at a remote airport in eastern Yemen. Together, they conducted
a special mission to push AQAP militants out of key oil fields. Now,
the Emiratis and U.S. occupy some of Yemen’s vital oil supplies.

Fighting
al-Qaeda in Yemen poses a significant challenge for the United States
because their Saudi-allied fighters consider the terror group an ally
against Ansarullah. For one thing, AQAP leader Qasim
al-Raymi openly
admits his men fight alongside
U.S.-backed troops.

Terror
attacks are common in territory controlled by U.S. allies. AQAP and
ISIS militants frequently target Emirati-backed politicians and
officials with car bombs or assassination attempts. When the UN
Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen visited the war-torn
country, he could not visit specific areas controlled by the US-Saudi
coalition due to the threat posed by terror groups. The UN Special
Envoy did not have this same experience in Sana’a and territory
under Ansarullah control.

What
Else is Washington Not Telling Us About the US in Yemen?

U.S.
support for the Saudi-led bombing campaign has produced over 36,000
casualties between killed and injured. The airstrikes typically
target homes, schools, businesses, farms, fishing boats, water
treatment facilities and just about anything else you can imagine.

Washington
also helps enforce the Saudi-led blockade which restricts imports,
exports, and the flow of movement. This has put roughly 22 million
Yemenis into either food insecurity or direct famine. Medical
supplies are scarce and thousands of patients suffer the consequences
— cancer patients, those requiring kidney dialysis, and pregnant
women are most at risk.

On
top of this, the United States has carried out covert military
actions in Yemen for over the past three years. From deploying Green
Berets and occupying oil fields to running black-site torture
centers, the US in Yemen has ignored all international laws and
norms.

What
else is Washington not telling the public about the US in Yemen?

De
bliksem is de Saoedische ‘minister’ van buitenlandse zaken (bij de gratie van MBS*), Adel al-Jabeir in de maffe bol geslagen. De
idioot stelde dat Qatar de kosten moet dragen voor de illegale
aanwezigheid van de VS in Syrië, daarnaast moet Qatar zelf troepen
sturen naar Syrië……. Aan welke kant die troepen dan moeten
vechten maakte al-Jabeir niet bekend, immers Saoedi-Arabië betaalt behalve IS, alle terreurgroepen in Syrië en heeft dat zelfs een tijdlang voor IS
gedaan…. Bovendien heeft S-A (zoals de VS) deze terreurgroepen van wapens en
voertuigen voorzien……

Al-Jabeir
liet weten dat wanneer Qatar dit niet doet, de VS Qatar niet langer
zal steunen en het land binnen een week zal vallen (door een inval
van Saoedi-Arabië……)…..

Professor Madawi al-Rasheed stelde terecht de vraag welke Golfstaat niet wordt beschermd door de VS, of welke Golfstaat niet wordt bewapend door de VS, of welke Golfstaat niet door de VS wordt geleid, of die niet is leeggeroofd door de VS??

Dan nog:
hoe durft deze losgeslagen al-Jabeir internationaal nog iets op te
merken, als je ziet dat Saoedi-Arabië zoals gezegd terreurgroepen financiert en
godbetert een genocide uitvoert in buurland Jemen???

Nieuw voor mij is de wil van de Trump administratie om een Arabisch leger op poten te zetten met de legers van Saoedi-Arabië en die van de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), dit om de illegale taken van de VS over te nemen en stabiliteit te brengen in van IS bevrijdde gebieden……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Alsof je een stel psychopathische moordenaars de verantwoording over de politie geeft……

Wanneer
wordt Saoedi-Arabië eindelijk voor het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC)
gesleept? Dit land moet intussen verantwoordelijk zijn voor alleen in
Jemen al meer dan 20.000 doden, dit door de hongersnood, cholera en
difterie uitbraak, allen één op één te danken aan de blokkade van S-A
en de VS en de oorlog die S-A voert tegen de sjiitische burgers van
Jemen…….. 

Qatar
Should Pay for US Troops in Syria or Risk Downfall: Saudi Minister

(MEE) — The
US government will stop protecting Qatar if the country doesn’t
fund the American military venture in Syria, Saudi Arabia’s foreign
minister warned on
Tuesday.

“Qatar
has to pay for the US military’s presence in Syria and send its
military forces there before the US president cancels the American
protection of Qatar, which has an American military base on its
grounds,” Adel al-Jubeir said in a statement.

Without
American protection – or more specifically Al-Udeid, a key US
military base in Qatar which hosts 10,000 troops – Al-Jubeir said
Doha’s government “would fall in less than a week”.

The
foreign minister’s comments come a week after Saudi Arabia said it
would be willing to deploy troops to Syria as part of US-led efforts
to stabilise the country.

The
Trump administration has said it is seeking to assemble an Arab
force, including Saudi Arabia and

the
United Arab Emirates, to replace US troops and pay for the
stabilisation and reconstruction of areas captured from the Islamic
State militant group.

But
analysts said Jubeir’s recommendation was politically motivated and
unlikely to happen, with one calling it “a silly, silly
suggestion”.

“How
could Qatar pay for the United States when they are under a
blockade?” Madawi Al-Rasheed, a visiting professor at the Middle
East Centre at LSE, told Middle East Eye.

“And
why pick on Qatar? Saudi Arabia were the ones who sponsored
discussions to bring Syrian opposition under one umbrella against
President Assad.”

She
added: “This is just an admission of failure. It’s just a silly,
silly suggestion. It comes out of desperation to implicate Qatar in
Syria after Saudi Arabia were the ones funding and encouraging groups
there in the first place,” she said.

Christopher
Davidson, a reader in Middle East politics at Durham University, said
that the Saudi foreign minister was “trying to throw the hot potato
onto Doha’s lap”.

“Saudi
Arabia and Qatar are both grappling with having to survive a new
and more adept US administration that is keen to extract greater
concessions from its ‘Gulf allies’ in return for continuing
protection and international diplomatic support,” he said.

Neither
Saudi Arabia nor Qatar want to be involved in Syria “as it would
likely involve not only direct confrontation with
Damascus-Tehran-Moscow axis forces, but also entanglement with some
of the same extremist groups they themselves, or at least many of
their wealthy private citizens, have recently funded and weaponised,”
Davidson added.

Saudi
Arabia and Qatar have been at loggerheads for years, but particularly
since last June when the kingdom, along with the United Arab
Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, cut diplomatic and trade ties with Doha,
accusing the country of supporting terrorism. Qatar has denied those
claims.

The
emirate’s only land border was closed and all flights were banned
to and from the country.

As
a result of the blockade, foreign financing and resident private
sector deposits reportedly fell by $40bn, but that was offset by cash
injections from the central bank and Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund,
according to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report released in
March.

The
IMF said the blockade’s impact was “transitory” because new
trade routes were quickly established and growth remained positive.

Madawi
added: “Regardless [of the blockade], I think this is a trap for
Qatar. Saudi Arabia and its allies have accused Qatar of terrorism,
so under what mandate would Qatari troops go into Syria? And which
side would they be on? The side of the rebels or of the regime?”

Wat
een wereld….. De reguliere media van zo ongeveer de halve wereld staan bol van de
leugens* over de bevrijding van Oost-Ghouta, leugens die met grote graagte worden overgenomen door het grootste deel van de westerse politici…. Ondertussen probeert het
Syrische reguliere leger terecht een eind te maken aan het
schrikbewind van psychopathische terreurgroepen in Oost-Ghouta (Al Qaida Syrië, al-Nusra), terreurgroepen die men hier ‘gematigde
rebellen’ noemt…….. Tegelijkertijd levert de VS enorme hoeveelheden wapens aan de reli-fascistische dictatuur in Saoedi-Arabië…..

Wapens
waarmee Saoedi-Arabië een genocide uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking
van Jemen…… Het aantal doden dat in Jemen is gevallen is niet
bekend, in 2016 werd gesproken over meer dan 10.000 vermoorde slachtoffers, dit aantal moet intussen meer dan verdubbeld zijn**, echter het totale aantal doden zullen we waarschijnlijk nooit weten…… Vergeet niet dat verzwakte mensen en kinderen die overlijden niet worden meegerekend in de cijfers, terwijl zij zonder de oorlog op zeker langer hadden geleefd…. Het zou me zelfs meevallen als het aantal gedode Jemenieten de 25.000 niet overschrijdt….

Niet
alleen levert de VS wapens aan de Saoedische coalitie, maar heeft het ook troepen op de grond in Jemen en voorziet
de moorddadige Saoedische straaljagers (geleverd door de VS) in de
lucht van brandstof, zodat deze jagers zo ‘efficiënt’ mogelijk burgers op de grond kunnen
uitmoorden met bombardementen…… 

Verder helpt de VS de Saoedische coalitie bij de blokkade van havens in Jemen, waardoor de aanvoer van medicijnen, voedsel, water en brandstof uiterst moeizaam verloopt…… De landgrenzen tot gebieden waar de Houthi rebellen het voor het zeggen hebben, worden door Saoedi-Arabië geblokkeerd voor deze hulpverlening…. (zo af en toe laat men deze hulpgoederen toe, vooral als er druk wordt uitgeoefend door de VN…) Nogmaals: terwijl er een hongersnood gaande is in Jemen en ziekten als cholera en difterie al een grote hoeveelheid mensenlevens hebben geëist……

Hoe kan
de wereld zo blind zijn voor de propaganda leugens van de VS en wel
hypocriet kabaal maken over de bevrijding van Oost-Ghouta, waar de
burgers wanhopig overeind proberen te blijven onder het geweld van
door de VS gesteunde terreurgroepen……..

Hoe is het mogelijk dat de reguliere media en het grootste deel van de politiek zwijgt over de genocide in Jemen, die al een paar jaar gaande is…….. Ach ja, het gaat hier om een genocide op mensen, die de VS, Saoedi-Arabië en vele andere landen hebben aangewezen als een vijfde colonne voor Iran, ook al is daar geen flinter bewijs voor……

Still Pouring Massive Supply of Weapons Into War-Torn Yemen

(ANTIWAR.COM) — Three
years into the 2015 Saudi-led invasion of Yemen, untold thousands are
dead. Northern Yemen has been through the worst cholera outbreak in
human history, and civilians continue to die in bunches from Saudi
airstrikes against the region.

To
call Yemen war-torn is really putting it mildly. Yemen is in a
disastrous state, with a Saudi-led naval blockade threatening to
starve millions. If there’s one thing Yemen has no shortage of,
however, it’s weapons, with the US 
ensuring a massive supply continues to pour into the hands of Saudi
and Emirati forces.

US
arms sales are themselves at a record high during this war, in no
small part because of purchases by the United Arab Emirates, and
particularly by the Saudis, who are dropping US bombs on northern
Yemen as fast as they can buy them.

And
while bombs and warplanes are the big dollar amount of sales, they
also include large numbers of US-made automatic rifles and small arms
ammunition. The UAE is particular bought $60 million in small arms in
2016 alone, both for their own direct involvement in Yemen and to arm
their allied factions on the ground. The Saudis bought another $11
million.

Yemen
isn’t a place to send weaponry that you want well-documented and
carefully tracked, either. The Pentagon has confirmed
they can’t account for about $500 million more in weapons that
they’d given to the Hadi government up to 2015.

So
the Saudi and UAE-bought small arms are being sent to Yemen to
replace those “lost” weapons, but it’s not as if those weapons
literally disappeared. Rather, they’re just not in the hands of
officials, or at least not in any above-board way. That’s virtually
certain to be the fate of this new influx as well.

At
the same time, US arms sales are ensuring that the Saudi and
coalition warplanes never run out of bombs to drop, despite those
airstrikes seemingly accomplishing nothing but killing more and more
civilians in the Shi’ite-dominated north.

A
January UN report faulted the Saudis for soaring civilian deaths, and
particularly the deaths of Yemeni children, saying that the efforts
to prevent harm to civilians “remain largely ineffective.” The
strikes continue to increase.

US
arms sales to Saudi Arabia are a major driving force in allowing them
to continue the Yemen War.

Saudis
use US planes, US bombs, and are refueled by the US Air Force during
this campaign. US culpability in the humanitarian disaster, and
probable war crimes, are fueling growing concern.

This
is particularly because Congress never authorized US military
involvement in Yemen. The US Senate is
soon to vote on a bill which would require an
end to US military involvement in the war, as Congress never
authorized the conflict. Those wishing to contact their senators to

The
US War Powers Act requires that Congress authorize any US military
operations of the sort being carried out in Yemen. Since 2015, the US
has conducted mid-air refueling for Saudi warplanes, and committed
warships to the naval blockade which is fueling starvation across
Yemen.

Alsof
Jemen nog niet genoeg in de stront zit, een land waar dagelijks
honderden mensen sterven van honger, uitputting, cholera en difterie,
hebben de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten nu hun zinnen gezet op het
zuidelijk deel van Jemen, zodat ze één van de belangrijkste zeestraten ter wereld kunnen controleren……..

De
Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) hebben de in feite al illegale
regering van Jemen gedwongen te vertrekken……. ‘Illegaal’ daar Hadi, die
‘bij gebrek aan een tegenkandidaat’ in 2012 met meer dan 99% van de
stemmen (en dat waren er niet veel…) werd gekozen…… 

Hadi zelf spreekt wat betreft de actie van de VAE over een coup…….. De VAE maken gebruik van een groot aantal goed getrainde huurlingen uit Zuid-Amerika., je weet wel van die psychopaten voor wie mensenlevens evenveel waard zijn als die van vleeskuikens (die men kippen durft te noemen) uit de intensieve martelveehouderij……..

Opvallend
weer, de afwezigheid van dit bericht in de reguliere media, wat de
schrijver van het volgende artikel, Darius Shahtahmasebi wijt aan de
vele ‘conflicten’ waarmee de wereld wordt geplaagd, echter het zit een stuk
smeriger in elkaar dan hij denkt……. Immers ook voor de vreselijke
oorlog die de Saoedische coalitie onder regie en met hulp van de VS
voert tegen de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen, dat wordt verdedigd
door de Houthi rebellen, is amper aandacht in de reguliere media…. Sterker nog: als men al bericht is dat op een manier waarbij de Houthi rebellen worden afgeschilderd als de aanstichters van de huidige oorlog……. Intussen richt Saoedi-Arabië in Jemen de ene slachting na de andere aan……. 

Terwijl de Houthi’s de enige strijdgroep vormen, die zich verzette tegen
IS en Al Qaida, terreurgroepen die van Hadi toestemming kregen hun kampement op te
slaan in Jemen, waarna deze terreurgroepen tekeer gingen tegen de
sjiitische bevolking……. Dit was dan ook de reden voor de Houthi’s om Hadi te
verjagen, zeer tegen de zin van de reli-fascistische staat
Saoedi-Arabië die Hadi onder druk hebben gezet zijn claim op het
presidentschap te handhaven,  zodat hij hen te hulp kon roepen……

Daarnaast zijn de reguliere media in handen van grote investeerders dan wel miljonairs (en miljardairs), die handelsbelangen prefereren boven mensenrechtenschendingen dan wel oorlogsmisdaden gepleegd door landen waar veel te verdienen valt. Hetzelfde geldt voor de westerse publieke media, die afhankelijk zijn van subsidies van hun overheden, neoliberale overheden die alles behalve willen dat handelsbelangen met rijke en grote olie-exporteurs worden geschaad…….

Zoals gezegd de
reguliere westerse media hebben de oorlog van S-A tegen de Houthi’s
willens en wetens verdraait, waardoor de Houthi’s als terroristen
werden afgeschilderd en S-A als de goede partij wordt neergezet, een partij die orde op zaken
kwam stellen voor ‘de rechtmatige regering……’ Uiteraard hebben die media geen behoefte de
laatste staatsgreep van de VAE te melden, immers hoe moeten ze dan in godsnaam
nog hun leugens verklaren…..??? Je hoort nu dan ook bijvoorbeeld op Radio1 en BNR dat de ‘deskundigen’ stellen de toestand in Jemen te ingewikkeld te vinden, om nog uit te kunnen leggen aan de luisteraars……..

Just Overthrew Yemen’s Government — and Nobody’s Talking About
It

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — Between
a major regional confrontation on the horizon taking
place in Syria between
Israel, Syria, Russia, Iran, Turkey, and the United States and a
potential nuclear
standoff with
North Korea and China, it is no surprise that there are many
newsworthy stories that continue to go unnoticed.

One
such story is what is currently taking place in Yemen, and this time
around, it involves a country other than Saudi Arabia, the United
States, or the United Kingdom.

In
early 2015, Yemen’s President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi fled
his palace in Aden after
a takeover saw him unseated in a relatively bloodless manner
(bloodless, that is, compared what followed after Saudi Arabia’s
brutal intervention). Hadi was still recognized internationally as
president even though he technically had already been overthrown. (By
way of comparison, the United States insists that President Bashar
al-Assad in Syria is not the country’s legitimate ruler, even as he
continues to retain his office after around seven years of fighting).

Saudi
Arabia, in particular, was adamant that Hadi maintained the country’s
legitimate leader. Why? Because Hadi was the one who requested U.N.
intervention and Saudi assistance to battle the Houthi-led
insurgency. Without Hadi, their basis to bomb Yemen without a U.N.
mandate becomes even more dubious than it already has been.

However,
Saudi Arabia is not the only major player in Yemen. While the
corporate media — in tandem with the warmongering
government officials who
apparently have nothing better to do than to fabricate nonsense –
continue to blame Iran for the deteriorating situation in Yemen, the
truth remains that there is one other U.S. ally heavily involved in
destabilizing one of the poorest nations in the Arab world.

At
the end of January of this year, the Telegraph reported that
Yemen’s current government was preparing to flee Yemen entirely
while a separatist group backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
seized control in Aden and surrounded the presidential palace.
Yemen’s other major city, Sana’a, is more
or less under the control of
the Houthi rebels. Rather than wasting valuable time and resources
trying to take over Yemen’s former capital in the face of a
determined Houthi outfit, the UAE instead has plans of its own to
completely form their own country in the south of Yemen.

Last
year, southern insurgents backed by the UAE formed the Southern
Transitional Council with the aim of reforming South Yemen, a country
that existed until it united with the north in
1990. Accordingto Middle
East Eye,
these southern separatists have no interest at all in conquering
Sana’a, anyway.

According
to the Telegraph,
Yemen’s prime minister, Ahmed bin Dagher, pleaded with Saudi Arabia
to intervene on the government’s behalf. But no
such intervention came,
and Saudi Arabia has essentially enabled the separatists’ take
over.

When
Yemen’s former leader Ali Abdullah Saleh was killed by Houthi
forces near the end of last year, Anti-Media predicted this
to be a major pivotal moment for the war in Yemen. According
to Middle
East Eye,
it was this event that became the turning point in the UAE-Saudi
relationship in Yemen. UAE has no interest in fighting a losing
battle and has aligned itself with the party it views as being able
to get the job done and serve their interests in Yemen, “riding the
wave,” as Middle
East Eye described
it.

As
long as Hadi can retain his post as exiled president and legitimize
Saudi Arabia’s presence in the country, Saudi Arabia is not
expected to do much by way of confronting UAE’s regional ambitions.
This is even while the UAE would
not allow Hadi
to enter Aden in August of last year. Hadi himself views
the entire situation as
a “coup” and has called the separatists “occupiers,” not
liberators.

Right
now, as well as having large-scale ground troops in the country,
training tens of thousands of Yemeni troops and importing hundreds of
highly skilled mercenaries from South America, the UAE is
also operating
a network of torture prisons in
Southern Yemen. Thousands of terror suspects have allegedly
disappeared in these prisons.

As
poor and impoverished as Yemen is, its geostrategic importance should
not be overlooked. Yemen is situated in an important
transit route,
and by controlling strategically important trade routes, the UAE can
continue to develop and expand its fossil-fuel trade to Europe and
North America and become a global energy superpower.

According
to leaked
emails revealed
to Middle
East Eye last
year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman actually wants out of
the war in Yemen, and these latest developments only continue to cast
further doubt on Saudi Arabia’s strategy in its almost
three-year-long war. Saudi Arabia has shown that together with the
U.S., the U.K., and other regional players, it can devastate Yemen’s
infrastructure and civilian population, but it has absolutely nothing
to show by way of military victory.

This
has all taken place with very little media coverage. We have
witnessed Donald Trump’s ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley,
berate Iran over its alleged and unproven activities in Yemen, and
even Saudi Arabia has received some negative
media coverage for its criminal role in this war.
Yet the UAE’s continued occupation of Yemen largely goes unnoticed.

The
UAE is the world’s fourth-largest arms importer after Saudi Arabia,
India, and China. The UAE also
infamously assisted in the aerial onslaught of
Muammar Gaddafi’s Libya in 2011 and continued
to wage a proxy war in
the country even after Gaddafi was overthrown.

No
one is talking about it, but the UAE has its sights on becoming a
major player in the region not just economically, but also
militarily.

One
reason why the UAE’s ever-expanding role in the Middle East
continues to go under-reported may be the vast amount
of influence the
current UAE ambassador to the U.S., Yousef Al Otaiba, wields. He is
reportedly “one
of the most powerful and well-connected men in Washington,”
as detailed by the Intercept.
Unsurprisingly, Otaiba is also allegedly the leading voice in
Washington for the war in Yemen.
