dat Blair als één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken voor de enorme
massamoord in Irak (intussen meer dan 1,5 miljoen doden), die begon
met de oorlog tegen dat land in 2003, door de VN werd
aangesteld als ‘vredesambassadeur’ voor het Midden-Oosten…… Om nog maar te zwijgen over de in feite illegale oorlog van de VS, GB en anderen tegen Afghanistan…… Wat
mij betreft was dit wel het zoveelste en laatste bewijs dat de VN een
waardeloze organisatie is, die vooral ten dienste staat van de VS en haar hielenlikkers……..

Blair Confirms Receiving $12 Million Dollars From Saudi Arabia
(MEMO) — Tony
Blair’s relationship with Saudi Arabia has come under scrutiny
following the revelation that the non-government organisation set up
under his name has received millions of pounds from Riyadh.
Accounts
published yesterday by the Tony Blair Institute confirmed earlier
reports that Blair had received donations of up to $12 million from
the Kingdom.
The
Saudi donation, according to the Financial Times, comes
from an organisation called Media Investment Limited (MIL), which is
a subsidiary of Saudi Research & Marketing Group, registered in
Guernsey*.
Publication
of the accounts confirmed July reports that Tony Blair Institute had
made an agreement with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, effective
ruler of Saudi Arabia, earlier this year to help with a programme of
modernisation for the Kingdom.
The
agreement was said to be the first major deal to have emerged
involving the Tony Blair Institute, which Blair established in 2016
after winding down his commercial operations.
The
report in the Telegraph prompted the institute to
defend its dealing with the Saudi Kingdom saying that the former
prime minister did not receive any payment from Riyadh and profits
are not generated from its consultancy work. They insisted that their
mission was to promote stability and reform in the Middle East –
with staff based in the UAE**, a key ally of Saudi Arabia.
Following
the revelation, questions were raised over some of the institute’s
decision, including Blair himself, who supported UK intervention in
Syria; a policy that would have primarily benefited the Saudi-backed
opposition groups.
Blair’s
institute also wrote flattering articles about Bin Salman during the
crown prince’s visit
to the UK early
year. “Britain should learn from Saudi Arabia and how it has
demonstrated a clear commitment to tackling the politicisation of
Islam to inform policymaking,” one article read.
It
also endorsed Bin Salman’s vision. “As part of his broad,
sweeping and ambitious plans to revolutionise Saudi Arabia,
economically, socially and religiously, the crown prince has
demonstrated a level of conviction, clarity and coherence in
identifying and understanding the nature of Islamist extremism that
Western policymakers should seek to learn from.”
Despite
the glowing endorsement, a key plank of Bin Salman’s vision has
come off the rail. In August King
Salman stepped
in and shelved his son’s plans to float a five per cent stake in
the country’s national oil company. Furthermore Riyadh has seen
some of the wort repression in the country under the current ruler,
as progressive
imams and female
campaigners face
capital punishment for their criticism of the ruling monarchy.
Hoe
is het mogelijk mensen, uit een eigen onderzoek (althans in opdracht
van de Saoedische coalitie*) blijkt dat de Saoedische aanval vorige maand op een schoolbus die zich op een markt bevond, ongerechtvaardigd was…… Bij die aanval kwamen 40 kinderen om het leven, later werd nog een schoolbus onder vuur genomen, daarbij werden 20 kinderen vermoord door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie…… (zie de eerste link onder het hierna opgenomen artikel van News Grid)
Niet
vreemd overigens, de uitkomst van dit onderzoek, daar het voor de
hele wereld wel duidelijk was, dat het hier niet om ‘terroristen’
ging (terwijl de grootste terroristen zich in deze Saoedische
coalitie bevinden….)….
De
verontwaardiging was dermate groot dat Saoedi-Arabie wel moest
toegeven dat het hier om een grove fout ging….. ‘De schuldigen
zullen worden gestraft’, zo heeft het opprcommando van de Saoedische
coalitie beloofd, echter die belofte zal niets waard blijken te zijn,
tenzij de Saoedische dictator een appeltje te schillen heeft met de
familie van de commandant die opdracht gaf tot ‘schieten’.
Triest
dat de belangstelling voor de genocide al weer wegebt in de reguliere
media, immers nog steeds gaat de Saoedische coalitie door met de
genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. Nadat de bus werd
geraakt, gebeurde dit, zoals gezegd, een paar dagen later nog eens, dit gaf ‘maar’
20 dode kinderen…….. Vergeleken bij de 40 kinderen waarvoor de coalitie zich
schuldig acht, was dit blijkbaar niet belangrijk genoeg om een nog grotere
verontwaardiging om te zetten in daden, zoals de eis aan de VS en GB
het moorddadig geteisem niet langer te coachen, te bevoorraden met
wapens, munitie en militaire hardware, enz….* De VS hoeft het maar te zeggen en S-A zal zich terugtrekken uit Jemen en stoppen met de genocide…… Je kan de imperialistische VS dan ook gerust
als hoofdverantwoordelijk aanwijzen!
Internationaal
Strafhof (ICC) doe je werk eindelijk en vervolg alle deelnemers, van
de Saoedische coalitie, dus ook de VS en GB voor genocide!! (andere
deelnemers aan deze coalitie zijn: Saoedi-Arabië (logisch), de
Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte en Marokko).

coalition admits Yemen school bus bombing ‘unjustified’

Probe
by Saudi-UAE coalition launched after international condemnation over
air raid that killed 40 children.
Saudi
Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have admitted that
the bombing
of a school bus in
Yemen last month – which killed 51 people, including 40 children –
was “unjustified”.
A
probe by the coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi rebels concluded on
Saturday that “mistakes” had been made in the August 9 air
raid in Saada province.
At
the day of the attack, coalition spokesperson Colonel Turki al-Malki
had defended the air raid, saying his forces hit a “legitimate
military target”, which included “operators and planners”.
But
in a rare concession, the military alliance’s investigative
body, the Joint Incident Assessment Team (JIAT), said that those
behind it should be held accountable.
“The
Joint Team … is of the opinion that the coalition forces should
initiate legal action to try and penalize those responsible for the
mistakes, which caused collateral damage in the area,” Mansour
Ahmed al-Mansour, a legal adviser to JIAT, told reporters in the
Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Al
Jazeera’s Alan Fisher, reporting from neighbouring Djibouti, said the
statement marked a “remarkable about-turn” after the
coalition’s initial assertions that this was a legitimate military
operation.
“But
if you look at the actual wording … they are not saying that
there was a problem with killing children.
“What
they are saying is that this attack shouldn’t have taken place when
it did because they were targeting Houthi leaders, and they say …
their intelligence pointed in that direction but those Houthi leaders
at that stage did not present a threat to Saudi-led coalition forces
and therefore that operation shouldn’t have happened,” added
Fisher.
“They
say that intelligence was passed to the pilot who fired the fatal
missile but it never got there in time.”
Universal
condemnation
The
probe came after the air attack sparked widespread international
condemnation and calls for an independent investigation from the
United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.
Geert
Cappelaere, UNICEF’s regional director in the Middle East and North
Africa, tweeted at the time: “NO EXCUSES ANYMORE!!”
“Does
the world really need more innocent children’s lives to stop the
cruel war on children in Yemen?” he said.
Following
the attack, individual members of the Congress in the United States
also called on their country’s army to clarify its role in the war
and investigate whether support for the air raids could render US
military personnel “liable under the war crimes act”.
The
US has been the biggest supplier of military equipment to Riyadh,
with more than $90bn of sales recorded between 2010 and 2015.
Critical
reports
The
Saudi-UAE admission on Saturday came a week after Human Rights
Watch accused the
pair of reaching “dubious conclusions” in its post-air
attack analysis and failing to properly investigate alleged war
crimes.
In
a damning 90-page report, the rights group slammed JIAT for
“absolving coalition members of legal responsibility in the vast
majority of attacks”.
Separately,
the UN said this
week that all sides in Yemen’s bloody conflict may have
committed war crimes involving deadly air strikes, rampant sexual
violence, and the recruitment of child soldiers
Saudi
Arabia, along with the United Arab Emirates, has been bombing Yemen
since March 2015 after the Houthis swept across the country,
including the capital, Sanaa. The coalition’s stated aim is to
restore the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.
Out
of the 16,000-plus raids they have launched since the start of the
conflict, only a handful have been investigated, despite nearly a
third of all bombs hitting civilian targets.
Last
year, the UN blacklisted the Saudi-UAE alliance for causing the
majority of reported child deaths and injuries in Yemen.
* De Saoedische coalitie bestaat uit de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte, Marokko, uiteraard Saoedi-Arabië, Groot-Brittannië en de VS, waarbij de laatste 2 deze terreurcoalitie voorzien van wapens, munitie en militaire hardwaren (dus vliegend, varend en rollend oorlogstuig), waarbij deze beide landen militaire training geven aan de Saoedische troepen…. Daarnaast doet de VS de coördinatie van de bombardementen, tankt deze terreurentiteit de straaljagers en bommenwerpers van de moorddadige Saoedische coalitie af in de lucht, vecht het met grote regelmaat op Jemenitische bodem tegen de Houthi’s (niet tegen IS en Al Qaida, zoals de VS durft te beweren…) en helpt de VS met de genocide op de Jemenitische bevolking middels het mede uitvoeren van de zeeblokkade voor gebieden die in handen zijn van de Houthi rebellen, zodat voedsel, water, medicijnen en brandstof maar mondjesmaat de zo geplaagde sjiitische bevolking bereiken (gevolgen daarvan: honger, cholera en difterie, die een enorm aantal slachtoffers maken..)… Nogmaals: terwijl zich een genocide voltrekt in Jemen, kijkt de wereld alweer weg…….
De
VN bracht afgelopen dinsdag een rapport uit waarin Saoedi-Arabië
wordt beschuldigd van oorlogsmisdaden (!!) In het rapport is voorts
te lezen dat S-A zich schuldig heeft gemaakt aan het vermoorden van
duizenden Jemenieten (meer dan 30.000!!!), plus het verkrachten
en martelen van gevangenen…….
Uiteraard
ontkent de reli-fascistische dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië zoals gewoonlijk alle
beschuldigingen….. Ook zal het rapport niets
uithalen voor de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen waarop S-A bezig is
een genocide uit te voeren…… Die 30.000 doden zijn vooral door de
strijd gevallen, maar een enorm aantal mensen is intussen
overleden door tekorten aan medicijnen, water, voedsel en
elektriciteit (de laatste bijvoorbeeld voor ziekenhuizen). Alles het gevolg van
de smerige oorlog die S-A met hulp van de VS, GB , de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte en Marokko uitvoert in Jemen, aangevuld met de blokkades op land en zee (waar ook de VS controles uitvoert voor Saoedi-Arabië…)…..
Zo
is er door bombardementen op de infrastructuur al 2 jaar geleden cholera uitgebroken in Jemen, later werd daar de uiterst
besmettelijke en gevaarlijke ziekte difterie aan toegevoegd, dit bovenop de honger in Jemen, hongersnood waarvoor Nederland vorig jaar nog een landelijke actie
voerde…… Je kan dan ook inderdaad spreken van een genocide,
zeker als je ziet dat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie doelbewust ziekenhuizen heeft aangevallen en nog aanvalt…… Zoals een paar maanden geleden een nieuw,
nog te openen ziekenhuis van Artsen zonder Grenzen (MSF), speciaal
gebouwd om de cholera uitbraak onder controle te krijgen…….* Opvallend, ik zocht op het internet (in het Nederlands) op verschillende manieren met meerdere steekwoorden naar dit bericht: geen berichten van Nederlandse media over dit voorval….. Blijkbaar ziet men MSF ook als een organisatie die ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) verspreidt……
Waar
halen de machthebbers van Saoedi-Arabië het gore lef vandaan om alles
nog eens te ontkennen en te blijven liegen dat Iran meevecht in
Jemen, daar is geen flinter bewijs voor, hetzelfde geldt voor wapenleveranties van Iran aan de Houthi rebellen, wel heeft Iran in tegenstelling tot bijvoorbeeld het westen, een groot aantal humanitaire hulpgoederen gestuurd naar Jemen en zoals je weet: humanitaire goederen bevatten geen ‘blauwe bonen…….’

Saudi Arabia Condemns UN Report on Yemen War Crimes
(ANTIWAR.COM) — A
Tuesday report released by the UN confirmed
in considerable detail misdeeds by the Saudi-led coalition
in Yemen, killing thousands of civilians in Yemen, raping and
torturing detainees, and using child soldiers. The report warned
these may amount to war crimes.
While
they didn’t specifically dispute any of this, Saudi Arabia was
predictably furious about the report, angrily condemning it as having
“misconstrued the facts of the conflict… ignoring the true
reasons for the conflict,” while saying that it was an Iranian coup
against the “legitimate government in Yemen.”
While
previous UN resolutions more or less accepted the Saudi narrative
that the war is meant to reinstall the Hadi government, that massive
death toll and the many, many war crimes committed have fueled a lot
of international consternation.
Still,
UN reports detailing war crimes by the Saudi coalition have been met
by Saudi condemnation, and in the past that, combined with US support
for the war, has been enough to keep the UN from doing anything in
particular about the situation. The UN General Assembly has
repeatedly acquiesced to demands that the Saudis be allowed to
investigate themselves on the war, which has meant probes are rare,
and never come up with anything meaningful.
Het
beest Trump heeft op 13 augustus jl. de jaarlijkse budgettering voor
het militaire apparaat, de National

ook VS burgers ongelimiteerd zonder vorm van proces kunnen worden

Saoedi-Arabië waar een 29 jarige sjiitische vrouw driegt te worden

reli-fascistische dictatuur in dat land, zij wordt letterlijk van

De
VS is in feite al een politiestaat en met dergelijke wetgeving wordt
de vrijheid van meningsuiting een begrip uit het verleden………
Zie ook de samenwerking van bedrijven als Facebook (plus Google in
haar geheel) en Apple met de VS overheid, waar kritische blogs en
sites meer en meer worden geweerd van het internet….** Ofwel censuur van de bovenste plank!
Terug
naar Trumps handtekening onder de NDAA: hij beloofde dat hij niet zal
ingaan op zaken die ‘bepaalde militaire missies’ in de weg zullen
staan, waarbij hij zelfs aangaf niet te willen bezuinigen op de hulp
aan de Saoedische terreurcoalitie die zo tekeergaat in Jemen……
Ofwel S-A kreeg een ‘carte blanche’ om verder te gaan met de
uitvoering van de genocide op sjiieten in Jemen…….
Voorts
gaf Trump nog aan dat het militaire terreurapparaat van de VS niet
hoeft aan te geven hoeveel burgerslachtoffers er vallen door (illegale) militaire acties van de VS in het buitenland…….

Trump’s
Signing of the 2019 NDAA Will Lead to More Dead Children in Yemen
Donald
Trump recently made it clear he will not accept any limitations on
the U.S. military’s logistical support of the war in Yemen.
(CR) — On
August 13, Donald Trump did what every president does, every single
year, without question – he signed the annual military budget bill,
the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019. Some readers may
recall that since 2011, the NDAA has included a provision which
allows for indefinite detention of American citizens without a right
to trial. Many of you may remember that President Obama had no
problem signing the NDAA 2012 in 2011, which legalized the indefinite
detention of American citizens suspected of ties to terrorism. The
indefinite detention provision is still contained in the NDAA, and
has been approved by Congress every year since it first passed.
Donald
Trump continued this trend by signing the NDAA 2019. However, Trump
made it clear that there were certain provisions in this year’s
bill that he would not abide by. “In a 15-page signing
statement issued
Monday night, President Trump revealed that he intends to ignore many
of the myriad provisions of the 2019 National Defense Authorization
Act (NDAA), the $716 billion military spending bill,” Anti-War.com
reports.
Trump
explicitly says he will not follow provisions which he believes get
in the way of certain “military missions” or are not consistent
with his “constitutional authority as Commander in Chief.” Trump
also says he will not provide more information on civilian casualties
from overseas conflicts because, apparently, the military should not
have to share too much information with Congress. Trump also opposes
a ban on military cooperation with Russia and a call for the creation
of a White House position to investigate election meddling.
Finally,
Trump seemed to suggest he would not allow any limits on the Yemen
War and would oppose the idea of providing an assessment on possible
war crimes to congress. Despite the fact that most of the American
public and the
corporate media had
never heard of the “civil war” in Yemen until actor Jim
Carrey drew
a picture of a school bus full of children being
bombed, the conflict has raged since 2015. According to the corporate
media, the conflict is a traditional civil war between different
political factions in the nation, but deeper research indicates that
this is another attempt at regime change by Saudi Arabia and western
forces. However, that is a story for another day.
For
the moment let’s acknowledge that Saudi Arabia launched their own
military intervention in the form of drone attacks and airstrikes.
The campaign is supported with weapons and money from the U.S.
government. The aforementioned school bus full of children? On August
9th, the US-Saudi coalition dropped a 500-pound, laser guided MK-82
bomb manufactured by Lockheed Martin, on a bus full of kids driving
in Dahyan in Saada province of Yemen. The bomb killed 51
people, including 40 children. Reportedly, the
US State Department and
the Saudi defended
the act as a“legitimate
military operation”.
These
types of attacks are not unusual in this conflict. Recently, United
Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said the war in Yemen was
now the “world’s worst humanitarian crisis” with more than 22
million people in need of help. Guterres
told a conference that
there are millions of people without access to clean drinking water
and at risk of a cholera epidemic.
Of
course, this matter is only made worse by the fact that Republicans
rejected an amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill which would
have put restrictions on U.S. financial support for the bombing
campaign. U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy said the
amendment “would cut off United States’ support for the Saudi
Arabia-led coalition’s war in Yemen until the Secretary of Defense
certified that the coalition’s air campaign is not violating
international law and U.S. policy related to the protection of
civilians”. Now we can’t have the politicians cut off the
lifeblood to the Military Industrial Complex, can we?
Of
course, we the people can cut off their source of revenue by finding
ways to avoid paying taxes. Otherwise, the cold hard reality is that
there will be more dead people. There will be more buses of dead
children; hospitals, schools, funerals, and weddings being bombed,
and more people who have a justifiable anger towards the U.S.
government and military.
De EU
beschuldigt Groot-Brittannie van spionage inzake de onderhandelingen
met de EU over de Brexit. Zo zou GB via een hack door het Government
Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) aan negatieve EU kritiek op May’s
Chequers Plan voor de Brexit zijn gekomen….. Dit is uiteraard gunstig voor de Britse onderhandelaars……

klokkenluider Katharine Gun aan die een aantal zaken naar buiten
bracht en daar bijna voor werd veroordeeld…….
Zie
welk smerig spel wordt gespeeld door de Britse overheid. Echt bewijs
voor de Britse hacks zijn er niet, maar gezien alle smerige zaken die
GB heeft geflikt, is het zeer waarschijnlijk dat GB inderdaad ook in
de Brexit onderhandelingen zich weer van één van haar smerigste kanten (heeft laten en) laat zien…….
Ongelofelijk dat ook de Britse regering een grote bek heeft over Russische manipulaties, waar NB geen flinter bewijs voor is, terwijl het zichzelf bezighoudt met manipulaties middels het hacken van zelfs bevriende naties en dat al ver voor er van een Brexit sprake was, ja zelfs al voor de aanslagen van 911…… Ga maar eens na wat dit betekent voor de omgang met landen als Rusland waar de Britse regering vijandig tegenover staat…….
The
European Union has accused British intelligence agencies of
disrupting Brexit negotiations—creating a new public dispute that
could poison further an already toxic situation.
(CN Op-ed) — Just
after midnight on Aug. 16, I was called by LBC Radio in London for a
comment on a breaking story on the front page of The
Daily Telegraph about
British spies hacking the EU. Even though I had just retired to bed,
the story was just too irresistible, but a radio interview is always
too short to do justice to such a convoluted tale. Here are some
longer thoughts.
For
those who cannot get past the Telegraph paywall,
the gist is that that the European Union has accused the British
intelligence agencies of hacking the EU’s side of the Brexit
negotiations. Apparently, some highly sensitive and negative EU
slides about British Prime Minister Theresa May’s plan for Brexit,
the Chequers
Plan,
had landed in the lap of the British government, which then lobbied
the EU to suppress publication.
Of
course, this could be a genuine leak from the
Brussels sieve,
as British sources are claiming (well, they would say that, wouldn’t
they?). However, it is plausible that this is the work of the spies,
either by recruiting a paid-up agent well placed within the Brussels
bureaucracy, or through electronic surveillance.
The
Ugly Truth of Spying
Before
dismissing the latter option as conspiracy theory, the British spies
do have experience. In the run-up to the Iraq war in 2003, the United
States and the United Kingdom were desperate to get a United Nations
Security Council resolution to invade Iraq, thus providing a fig leaf
of apparent legitimacy to the illegal war. However, some countries
within the UN had their doubts (including France and Germany), and
the U.S.
asked Britain’s
listening post, GCHQ,
to step up its surveillance game. Forewarned is forearmed in delicate
international negotiations.
Katherine Gun: Threatened with prosecution.
How
do we know this? A brave GCHQ whistleblower named Katharine Gun
leaked the information to The
Observer. For
her pains, she was threatened
with prosecution under
the draconian terms of the UK’s 1989 Official
Secrets Act and
faced two years in prison. The case was only dropped three weeks
before her trial was due to begin, partly because of the feared
public outcry, but mainly because her lawyers threatened to use the
legal defense of “necessity”—a defense won only three years
before during the case
of MI5 whistleblower David Shayler.
Tangentially, a film is
being made about Gun’s story this year.
We
also have confirmation from one of the early 2013 Edward Snowden
disclosures that GCHQ had hacked its way into the Belgacom
network—the
national telecommunications supplier in Belgium. Even back then,
there was an outcry from the EU bodies, worried that the UK (and by
extension its closest intelligence buddy, the U.S.), would gain
leverage with stolen knowledge.
So,
yes, it is perfectly feasible that the UK could have
done this, even though it was illegal back in the day. GCHQ’s
incestuous relationship with America’s National Security Agency (NSA) gives it massively greater capabilities than other European
intelligence agencies. The EU knows this well, which is why it is
concerned to retain access to the UK’s defense and security powers
post-Brexit, and also why it has jumped to these conclusions about
hacking.
Somebody
Needs to Watch the Watchers
But
that was then, and this is now. On Jan. 1, 2017, the UK government
finally signed a law called the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA), governing
the legal framework for GCHQ to snoop. The IPA gave GCHQ the
most draconian
and invasive powers of
any Western democracy. Otherwise known in the British media as the
“snoopers’ charter,” the IPA had been defeated in Parliament
for years, but Theresa May, then home secretary, pushed it through in
the teeth of legal and civil society opposition. This year, the High
Court ordered the UK government to redraft
the IPA as
it is incompatible with European law.
May:
Breaking up is hard to do.
The
IPA legalized what GCHQ previously had been doing
illegally post-9/11,
including bulk metadata collection, bulk data hacking, and bulk
hacking of electronic devices.
It
also gave the government greater oversight of the spies’ actions,
but these measures remain weak and offer no protection if the spies
choose to keep quiet about what they are doing. So if GCHQ did indeed
hack the EU, it is feasible that the foreign secretary and the prime
minister remained ignorant of what was going on, despite being
legally required to sign off on such operations. In which case the
spies would be running
amok.
It
is also feasible that they were indeed fully briefed, and that would
have been proper protocol. GCHQ and the other spy agencies are
required to protect “national security and the economic well-being”
of Great Britain, and I can certainly see a strong argument could be
made that they were doing precisely that (provided they had prior
written permission for such a sensitive operation) if they tried to
get advance intelligence about the EU’s Brexit strategy.
This
argument becomes even more powerful when you consider the problems
around the fraught issue of the border between the UK’s Northern
Ireland and EU member Ireland, an issue about which the EU is
being particularly
intransigent.
If a deal is not made, the 1998 Good
Friday Agreement could
be under
threat and
civil war might break out again in Northern Ireland. You cannot get
much more “national security” than that, and GCHQ would be
justified in this work, provided it has acquired the necessary legal
sign-offs from its political masters.
Our
Complicated World
However,
these arguments will do nothing to appease the enraged EU officials.
The UK government will continue to state that this was a leak from a
Brussels insider, and publicly at least, oil will be seen to have
been poured on troubled diplomatic waters.
Behind
the scenes, though, this action will multiply the mutual suspicion
and no doubt unleash a witch hunt through the corridors of EU power,
with top civil servant Martin
Selmayr (aka
“The Monster”) cast as witchfinder general. With him on your
heels, you would have to be a brave leaker, whistleblower or even
paid-up agent working for the Brits to take such a risk.
So,
perhaps this is indeed a GCHQ hack. However justifiable the move
might be under the nebulous concept of “national security,” this
event will poison further the already toxic Brexit negotiations. As
Angela Merkel famously,
if disingenuously, said after
the Snowden revelation that the U.S. had hacked her mobile phone: “No
spying among friends.” But perhaps this is an outdated concept—and
the EU has not been entirely friendly to Brexit Britain.

am just waiting for the first hysterical claim that it was the
Russians instead or, failing them, former Trump strategist in
chief, Steve
Bannon,
reportedly on a mission to build
a divisive
alt-right movement across
Europe.

in Irak heeft de VS meermaals gebieden gebombardeerd waar letterlijk
geen hond aanwezig was (woestijngebied)……. Er zijn zelfs een
flink aantal getuigen die hebben gezien dat de VS terreurgroep IS bevoorraadde in
Irak…. Voorts heeft de VS meerdere keren IS troepen een
vrijgeleide gegeven vanuit Irak en hen begeleid naar Syrisch grondgebied, zodat ze daar het zo door
de VS gehate Syrische bewind* konden bestrijden (en ach de mensen
die door IS werden gemarteld, verkracht en vermoord, niets meer of
minder dan bijkomende schade ‘voor het goede doel, moet je maar denken….’)….
Toen
Rusland begin oktober 2015 Syrië te hulp schoot, werden IS en andere
terreurgroepen als Al Qaida Syrië (o.a. al-Nusra), naast de
succesvolle strijd tegen deze groepen door de Koerden in Syrië, voor
het eerst goed bestreden en bereikten de Russen in een paar maanden
tijd meer dan de VS in meer dan een jaar tijd had ‘gepresteerd….’**
Het
is meer dan duidelijk dat de VS troepen wil behouden in Syrië, niet
alleen om Syrië op te kunnen delen en zo de macht van het wettige
Syrische bewind te breken, maar ook voor een eventuele aanval op
Iran……… (Syrië grenst ook aan Iran)
De
plekken waar IS zich nog ophoudt liggen in door de VS beheerst gebied
en niet zelden grijpt de VS in als het reguliere Syrische leger IS
aanvalt…… De VS heeft zelfs dorpen gebombardeerd die trouw waren
aan de door hen gekozen Syrische regering en weigerden doorgang te verlenen aan de door de VS
gesteunde terroristen (‘rebellen’) groepen van o.a. de Qasad
militie, bestaande uit strijders die voorheen voor IS terreur
uitoefenden op de Syrische bevolking……..

ISIS
Given ‘Breathing Space’ in US-Occupied Areas of Syria: UN Report
By
maintaining an ISIS pocket in the territory it occupies, the U.S. can
continue to justify its illegal presence in the country for the
long-term, ultimately substituting Iran for ISIS as its new regional
boogeyman.
(MPN Op-ed) — A recent
report from
the UN Security Council’s Sanctions Monitoring Team has found that
many of the places in Syria where the terror group Daesh (ISIS)
continues to operate, recuperate and extract oil for profit are in
areas of the country occupied
by the United States.
According
to the report’s executive summary:
“Islamic
State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), having been defeated militarily
in Iraq and most of the Syrian Arab Republic during 2017, rallied in
early 2018 [owing to] a loss of momentum by forces fighting it in the
east of the Syrian Arab Republic, which prolonged access by ISIL to
resources and gave it breathing space to prepare for the next phase
of its evolution into a global covert network.”
While
the text itself doesn’t explicitly state who controls these areas
of Syrian territory, maps of eastern Syria make it clear that the
pockets of Daesh within U.S.-controlled territory have remained
unchanged in size since
November 2017 while
the Daesh pockets in the Syrian government-controlled portion of
eastern Syria have
shrunk considerably since
last November.

Furthermore,
the UN report states that the areas where Daesh has rallied since the
year began are located in “pockets of territory in the Syrian Arab
Republic on the Iraqi border” where the group has mounted “attacks,
including across the border into Iraq.” Again, area maps clearly
show that the Daesh-controlled areas in only the U.S.-occupied
portion of eastern Syria are along the Syria-Iraq border.
Notably,
in the sliver of Daesh-controlled land between U.S. and Syrian
government-controlled areas in the border city of Abu Kamal, when the
Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has tried to attack Daesh positions in the
area this year, they have
been targeted by
U.S. coalition airstrikes. U.S. coalition airstrikes have also
attacked Syrian civilian villages in the government-controlled
portion of Abu Kamal. Survivors of that attack claimed that
their villages had been targeted for refusing the entry of the
U.S.-backed opposition militias — such as the Qasad militia, which
is largely composed of former Daesh fighters.
U.S.
coalition airstrikes targeting the SAA in Abu Kamal and elsewhere in
eastern Syria have also been the key cause of the “loss of
momentum” of forces fighting Daesh that was cited in the UN report,
as Syrian forces have declined to advance deep into U.S.-held
territory in order to pursue Daesh after being
bombednumerous
times.
In addition, the U.S.’ own bombing campaign against Daesh
can hardly
be called effective given
that the U.S., along with their military proxy the Syrian Democratic
Forces (SDF), frequently
announceon
social media when
and where they will be bombing Daesh in eastern Syria days in
advance.

Beyond
eastern Syria, the report also notes that another Daesh-infested area
of concern is also located farther south in the area around the
al-Tanf military base, which has
been occupied by
the United States since 2016. The UN report raises concerns about the
Rukban refugee camp, which lies within the so-called “deconfliction”
zone that the U.S. has imposed on a 55-kilometer radius around
al-Tanf.
The
report states:
“The
densely populated Rukban camp in southern Syrian Arab Republic
contains some 80,000 internally displaced persons, including families
of ISIL fighters, a situation which Member States fear might generate
new ISIL cells.”
As
with other Daesh-held areas under U.S. “protection,” the U.S. has
attacked the
SAA for attempting to enter the U.S.’ unilaterally-imposed
“deconfliction” zone in an effort to attack Daesh militants.
Washington’s
Daesh-Dependent Long-Game
The
evidence that the U.S. presence in Syria is actually helping to
strengthen Daesh flies in the face of the
Pentagon’s justification for
the U.S.’ occupation of northeastern Syria as being necessary
because the Syrian government is not strong enough to defeat Daesh on
its own.
However,
as the recent UN report reveals, the Pentagon’s portrayal does not
appear to be the reality of the situation.
As MintPresshas
noted in
the past, this finding is hardly surprising given that the Defense
Intelligence Agency report from 2012 revealed that the U.S. willingly
allowed Daesh to be formed in order to destabilize the Syrian
government and partition Syria through foreign military intervention.
Since then, the U.S. has adapted its justifications for its presence
in Syria, particularly after the failure of Daesh and foreign-funded
opposition groups to depose the current government of Syria.
By
maintaining a Daesh pocket in the territory it occupies, the U.S. can
continue to justify its illegal presence in the country for the
long-term. Indeed, just last month, the Trump administration made
it clear that
the U.S. military plans to stay in Syria for the long haul,
substituting Iran for Daesh as its new regional boogeyman.

bezoeker, dacht even van m’n stoel te donderen toen ik het hieronder
opgenomen artikel van ‘9 for News‘ las. Anton
Utkin, een ex-wapeninspecteur van de VN, stelt dat Groot-Brittannië
monsters van de ‘gifgasaanvallen’ in GB, die op de Skripals en later op het
Britse stel in Amesbury, aan de Organisatie voor het Verbod op
Chemische Wapens (OPCW) heeft doen toekomen, met de uitdrukkelijke restrictie dat
alleen naar één bepaalde stof mocht worden gezocht……….
Ofwel,
GB heeft doelbewust de boel belazerd door het verbod aan de OPCW om
verder te zoeken dan de schoftenregering van May goed acht…….. Er mocht maar naar 1 stof worden gezocht, het gaat daarbij om de stof A-234, NB een variant op novitsjok, waar de
Britse regering letterlijk van stelde dat die stof was
gevonden……
Daarnaast: waarom zou Rusland een dergelijk risico nemen, terwijl de westerse wereld al een paar jaar bezig is met een anti-Russische campagne en dan nog vlak voor het WK voetbal dat in Rusland werd gehouden……. Als Rusland Sergei Skripal had willen vermoorden, had het daar al veel eerder de kans voor, trouwens als Rusland zo’n aanslag zou plegen, zou het geen sporen nalaten en al helemaal geen stof gebruiken, waarvan de formule door de Sovjet Unie werd ontwikkeld! Dat laatste geeft aan dat ook een land als Oekraïne de stof zou kunnen hebben gemaakt en als er één land is dat baat heeft bij de demonisering van Rusland is het Oekraïne wel!
Het
is nu te laat om nog nieuwe sporen te zoeken, aldus Utkin, alleen in
de vrouw uit Amesbury, Dawn Sturgess, die aan de aanval overleed, zouden nog sporen kunnen worden gevonden…… Volgens Utkin is de bewuste stof na 3 of 4 weken uit het lichaam is verdwenen, het is dan ook opvallend dat de slachtoffers volkomen werden afgeschermd van de buitenwereld, anders gezegd: de kans dat een ander bijvoorbeeld een bloedonderzoek zou kunnen laten uitvoeren, werd daarmee onmogelijk gemaakt….. Niet vreemd ook dat GB de hulp van Rusland bij het onderzoek categorisch afwees……
Een
echt grondig onderzoek is nodig om te kunnen zeggen wat de 4
slachtoffers werkelijk is overkomen, aldus Utkin en daar is de Britse overheid
tegen….. Hoeveel bewijs wil je nog, voor je kan stellen dat deze
vergiftigingen een ‘false flag’ operatie van GB zelf is (hoogstwaarschijnlijk in samenwerking met de VS), met alweer
als doel Rusland in een kwaad daglicht te stellen……..
Trouwens
totaal belachelijk dat partijen in een dergelijke zaak de OPCW, een VN orgaan, kunnen
verbieden hun werk naar behoren te doen……
Tot slot: als er werkelijk novitsjok was gebruikt, waren al de 4 slachtoffers al lang begraven geweest, novitsjok is uiterst dodelijk, aldus wetenschappers……
Ronduit
schandalig!!! (zegt het voort mensen, de reguliere media zullen je dit

overheid belemmert werk onderzoekers OPCW. Oud-VN-wapeninspecteur
doet onthullingen over gifgasaanvallen

De
Britse overheid belemmert het werk van specialisten van de
Organisatie voor het Verbod op Chemische Wapens (OPCW) die onderzoek
doen naar de gifgasaanvallen in Groot-Brittannië. Dat heeft een
voormalige wapeninspecteur van de Verenigde Naties gezegd.
“Groot-Brittannië
wil dat de OPCW bevestigt dat het hier gaat om het gifgas dat volgens
de Britse overheid is gebruikt,” zei Anton Utkin.
“Dat
betekent dat de specialisten van de OPCW alleen monsters mogen
verzamelen die door Groot-Brittannië zijn aangeleverd en alleen
mensen mogen interviewen die door Groot-Brittannië naar voren zijn
geschoven,” vervolgde hij.
Uitlekken
Het
is dus heel belangrijk voor Groot-Brittannië dat de OPCW enkel en
alleen taken uitvoert die door de Britse overheid zijn gegeven, want
anders kan informatie over het onderzoek uitlekken, aldus Utkin.
In
maart dit jaar werden de Russische dubbelspion Sergej Skripal en zijn
dochter Joelia in Salisbury vergiftigd.
Volgens
de Britse overheid was daarbij het Russische dodelijke gifgas
novitsjok gebruikt. De Skripals zijn volledig hersteld en ontslagen
uit het ziekenhuis.
Alleen
specifieke chemicaliën
Utkin
was persoonlijk betrokken bij de vernietiging van Russische chemische
wapens.
Over
de vergiftiging van de Skripals zei hij: “De OPCW heeft heel
duidelijk aangegeven dat zij alleen specifieke chemicaliën in het
monster mocht onderzoeken.”
In
dit geval moesten de specialisten alleen kijken of de stof A-234 in
de monsters aanwezig was, een variant van novitsjok.
Te
laat
Op
4 juli liet de Britse politie weten dat een stel uit Amesbury was
vergiftigd. Eén slachtoffer, Charlie Rowley, herstelde, terwijl zijn
partner Dawn Sturgess in het ziekenhuis overleed.
Utkin
wees erop dat het nu te laat is om monsters te verzamelen omdat
sporen van het zenuwgas na drie tot vier weken uit het lichaam zijn
verdwenen.
Echt
Mogelijk
zijn in het lichaam van Sturgess nog wel sporen te vinden, aangezien
zij is overleden, zei hij.
Als
de OPCW ook had mogen kijken welke andere chemicaliën in de
lichamen van de slachtoffers zaten, zouden we erachter kunnen komen
wat er echt met hen is gebeurd, besloot Utkin.
Ondanks
dat Saoedi-Arabië heeft toegegeven dat de aanval op de schoolbus in
Jemen* (het dodental is opgelopen tot 50..) met opzet werd uitgevoerd, in reactie op een raketaanval van de
Houthi rebellen, is dat geen reden voor de VS deze enorme
oorlogsmisdaad te veroordelen…….
Niet
zo vreemd als je bedenkt dat de VS (en Groot-Brittannië) pal achter
de reli-fascistische Saoedische coalitie staan (S-A en VAE**), een coalitie die met
hulp van de VS en GB, een genocide uitvoert tegen de sjiitische
bevolking van Jemen…….
Wat
wellicht wel vreemd is aan deze enorme oorlogsmisdaad, is het feit
dat de reguliere (massa-) media in de VS nu wel kritiek hebben op
deze oorlogsmisdaad. E.e.a. bleek toen de woordvoerder van het
ministerie van buitenlandse zaken, Heather Nauert, onder vuur lag van deze media, daar
ze weigerde deze oorlogsmisdaad (in feite zelfs een misdaad tegen de
menselijkheid) te veroordelen. Dit in tegenstelling tot de reguliere
media hier, die zelfs amper aandacht schonken aan deze smerige
oorlogsmisdaad…….
Nauert durfde zelfs te zeggen dat Saoedi-Arabië van groot strategisch belang is voor de VS (en ach als dat tienduizenden doden kost, het zijn maar sjiitische Jemenieten, ja toch….???)
Vreemd
die reactie van de reguliere media in de VS, daar men normaal
gesproken achter de Saoedische coalitie staat, ook al voert die
coalitie overduidelijk een genocide uit in Jemen, een genocide die
intussen aan alleen al duizenden kinderen het leven heeft gekost……..
Het
meest vreemde aan deze zaak is wel de lauwe westerse ‘reactie’ op
het bewust vermoorden van kinderen, terwijl na een dergelijke (hypothetische) actie
van de Russen en/of het reguliere Syrische leger, de hele westerse wereld op de
kop zou hebben gestaan….. Sterker nog: de VS en anderen hebben Syrië en de
Russen meermaals beschuldigd van het vermoorden van kinderen,
dit gesteund door die reguliere (massa-) media, waarbij men inderdaad
totaal hysterisch reageert, ook al blijkt keer op keer dat er voor
die beschuldigingen geen schijn van bewijs kan worden geleverd…….. (dat is dan ook bijzonder moeilijk als er geen bewijzen zijn…)
Overigens
heb ik tot op heden nog niets gehoord over een veroordeling door de
Nederlandse regering of door de EU………

Reporters Slam US for Refusing to Condemn Bombing of School Bus in
Yemen
(ZHE) — Just
as expected, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert refused to
condemn Thursday’s coalition airstrike on a school bus in
Yemen, which left as
many as 50 people dead and 63 injured — the
vast majority of which were children.
As
we reported previously, Saudi-US/UK
coalition jets scored a
direct hit on the school bus packed with children as it drove
through a crowded market place in
Dahyan, in the rebel-held north of Yemen.
During
the State Department’s daily press briefing, Nauert
was asked point blank by journalists, starting with the AP’s Matt
Lee, whether the US condemns the attack.
The
whole testy exchange on Yemen is worth watching, especially as Matt
Lee lays out the case for direct US complicity in the attack on the
bus packed with children from the start of his question: “The
Saudis obviously are the ones who conducted this, but they do that
with weapons supplied by the U.S., with training supplied by the
U.S., and with targeting information, targeting data, supplied by the
U.S. How can something like this happen?” he
said.

State Dept’s Heather Nauert is not willing to condemn the Saudis for their airstrike on a schoolbus earlier today that killed over 50 children in Northern #Yemen. She wants to wait for the Saudis to conduct their own investigation into the attack. Shameful.
Unbelievably,
Nauert tried to obfuscate the issue by simply saying “I can’t
confirm all the details because we are not there on the ground.”
Not
only did Nauert refuse to say the State Department condemned the
attack, but wouldn’t
so much as agree to simply call for an independent investigation into
the incident(she
called only for a Saudi-led inquiry).
Nauert
drew random incredulous expressions of laughter from the press
pool by the end of the segment on Yemen when she was caught
struggling to acknowledge the long established fact that the US
supplies “a
tremendous amount of weaponry and the data for targeting to the
Saudis” while
simultaneously touting that Washington provides“a
tremendous amount of humanitarian assistance.”
This
section of the exchange played out as
follows:

NAUERT: Look, we provide a tremendous amount of humanitarian
assistance in Yemen to try to support civilians in Yemen and try to
mitigate against the devastation that’s taken place there in that
country. I don’t have anything more for you on that.
QUESTION: But
you also supply a tremendous amount of weaponry and the data for
targeting to the Saudis.
MS
NAUERT: Well, then – sorry.
QUESTION: Right?
No?
QUESTION: No.
QUESTION: Am
I wrong? Is that wrong?
QUESTION: That’s
not wrong.
MS
NAUERT: Sorry, these ladies over here are laughing. On that
I would refer you to the Department of Defense that is involved with
that, but as you know, Saudi Arabia is an important strategic partner
in the region to the United States.
Meanwhile
as Al
Masdar News reports, UN
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is calling for an independent and
prompt investigation into the deadly Saudi-led coalition airstrike
that hit the bus carrying children,
United Nations deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said in a press release.
“The
Secretary-General condemns the air strike today by the coalition
forces in Saada, which hit a busy market area in Majz District, and
impacted a bus carrying children from a summer camp,” Haq said on
Thursday. “He calls for an independent and prompt investigation
into this incident.”
According
to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), citing local
officials,a
total of 50 people died in the attack, while another 77 were injured.
Leader
of the Yemen’s rebel Supreme Revolutionary Committee Mohammed
Houthi on Thursday urged
Russia, China and France to hold an emergency United Nations Security
Council meeting over the attack of the Saudi-led coalition,
local media reported.
According
to the Houthi-run Al Masirah TV, the committee’s leader said that
the coalition’s attack confirmed that the coalition rejects peace
in the region.
Vanmorgen was correspondent Lyse Doucet op BBC World Service radio te horen over de beschieting van de schoolbus. Ten eerste stelde ze dat de vechtende partijen, dus de Houthi’s en de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, gelijkwaardige partijen zijn, terwijl de Houthi’s niet eens beschikken over een luchtmacht. Ten tweede durfde ze de leugen te herhalen dat Iran de Houthi’s van wapens voorziet, zoals al vaker op de ze plek verzucht, daar is geen nanometer bewijs voor! De BBC blijft keer op keer de Houthi’s criminaliseren, dit is in het belang van de broodheer van de BBC, de Britse regering, die het ene na het andere enorme wapencontract t.b.v. de reli-fascistische terreurstaat Saoedi-Arabië tekent, contracten voor wapens, munitie en militaire hardware, dus rollend, varend en vliegend oorlogstuig……. Overlevenden
van de atoomaanval op Hiroshima (hibakusha) hebben gisteren de herdenking van de atoomaanval op die stad, 73 jaar geleden, gebruikt om de wereld op
te roepen een verbod in te stellen op kernwapens.
De
burgemeester van Hiroshima, Kazumi Matsui stelde volkomen
terecht dat de kans op een atoomramp groot is gezien de toestand in
de wereld, zeker als je het aantal van 14.000 kernkoppen (!!
knettergek!) over de wereld in gedachten houdt……….
Matsui
riep zijn regering op om het verdrag tot de ban van kernwapens te
tekenen, dit verdrag werd vorig jaar door een aantal VN leden getekend. De International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons
(ICAN), heeft voor haar inzet de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede
ontvangen……
Let
op, hier gaat Nederland weer ‘een mooie rol spelen’: Nederland heeft
dit verdrag niet getekend, onthield zich niet van stemming, maar
stemde als enige tegen, de VS kernwapens zouden nodig zijn voor ozne
veiligheid…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Hier de tekst die

Netherlands, which hosts US nuclear weapons on its
territory, participated in the negotiation of the UN Treaty on
the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons but voted against its adoption on
7 July 2017. It was the only nation to do so. It claims that US
nuclear weapons are essential for its security.
Kortom
voor de zoveelste keer staan we publiekelijk voor paal en dan durven
de Nederlandse reguliere media Rutte de hemel in te prijzen als een
geweldig staatsman…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!*

Survivors Call for Nuclear Weapons Ban 73 Years After US Bombing
(CD) — While
European and Iranian leaders work
to salvage the
Iran nuclear deal after President Donald Trump withdrew the
United States in May and reimposed his
first round of sanctions on Monday, activists, surviviors, and
Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui marked the 73rd anniversary of the U.S.
dropping an atomic bomb on the Japanese city by calling for the total
elimination of the world’s nuclear weapons.
“Today,
with more than 14,000 nuclear warheads remaining, the likelihood is
growing that what we saw in Hiroshima after the explosion that day
will return, by intent or accident, plunging people into agony,”
Matsui warned in a “moving” peace
declarationdelivered
at a “somber”
ceremony in Japan on Monday.
Sharing
statements from hibakusha,
or those who survived the American bombing in 1945, the mayor
continued:
The hibakusha,
based on their intimate knowledge of the terror of nuclear weapons,
are ringing an alarm against the temptation to possess them. Year by
year, as hibakusha decrease
in number, listening to them grows ever more crucial.
One hibakusha who
was 20 says, “If nuclear weapons are used, every living thing will
be annihilated. Our beautiful Earth will be left in ruins. World
leaders should gather in the A-bombed cities, encounter our tragedy,
and, at a minimum, set a course toward freedom from nuclear weapons.
I want human beings to become good stewards of creation capable of
abolishing nuclear weapons.”

Another hibakusha who
was 20 makes this appeal: “I hope no such tragedy ever happens
again. We must never allow ours to fade into the forgotten past. I
hope from the bottom of my heart that humanity will apply our wisdom
to making our entire Earth peaceful.” If the human family forgets
history or stops confronting it, we could again commit a terrible
error. That is precisely why we must continue talking about
Hiroshima. Efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons must continue based
on intelligent actions by leaders around the world.
Nuclear
deterrence and nuclear umbrellas flaunt the destructive power of
nuclear weapons and seek to maintain international order by
generating fear in rival countries. This approach to guaranteeing
long-term security is inherently unstable and extremely dangerous.
World leaders must have this reality etched in their hearts as they
negotiate in good faith the elimination of nuclear arsenals, which is
a legal obligation under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Furthermore (NNPT), they must strive to make the Treaty on the Prohibition
of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) a milestone along the path to a
nuclear-weapon-free world.
Matsui
also urged the Japanese government to join the historic United
Nations treaty
to ban nuclear weapons,
which was adopted by dozens of nations last year and earned
the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) a Nobel
Peace Prize. Replicas of the award and diploma are
on display at
the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum until Monday, and next will be
sent to Nagasaki, the city the U.S. bombed three days later.
ICAN
turned to Twitter on Monday to share Matsui’s words and urge all
nations to join the U.N. treaty:
Mayor Matsui spoke of the hopes of #Hibakusha (survivors) for a nuclear-free world & the importance of memory: “If the human family forgets history or stops confronting it, we could again commit a terrible error. That is precisely why we must continue talking about Hiroshima.”

Paul
Kawika Martin, senior director for policy and political affairs at
the U.S.-based group Peace Action, said in a statement,
“Besides paying respect and commemorating the lives lost in the
atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, marking the anniversaries
offers the world an opportunity to reflect on the threat still posed
by nuclear weapons, and more importantly, an opportunity to organize
for their reduction and elimination.”
“As
the only country to ever use nuclear weapons in war,” Martin
continued, “and as a signatory to the Nonproliferation Treaty, the
United States has both a moral and legal obligation to negotiate in
good faith with other nuclear-armed nations for the reduction and
elimination of the world’s nuclear arsenals, including our own.
Unfortunately, the Trump administration is instead moving forward
with plans to spend $1.7 trillion adjusted for inflation on nuclear
weapons over the next three decades.”
Several
other activists and anti-nuclear organizations used social media on
Monday to remember the bombing and demand that every nation work
toward outlawing such weapons:
Right now as you read this, men like Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin threaten every city on Earth with nuclear weapons that’d make Hiroshima look like a campfire — and one day, sooner or later, these weapons will be used. Unless we eliminate all of them. Everywhere. #globalzero
Meanwhile,
students at Fukuyama Technical High School in Japan have unveiled a
virtual reality experience that enables users to see Hiroshima on the
day of the bombing. Their hope is that the VR project will discourage
future use of nuclear weapons.
“Even
without language, once you see the images, you understand,” Mei
Okada, one of the students working on the
project, told the Associated
Press.
“That is definitely one of the merits of this VR experience.”

On
this day in 1945, the US military under the direction of President
Truman dropped a nuclear bomb on a civilian target killing over
80,000 people instantly.
Was
the attack on Hiroshima a military necessity?
No
and here’s why.
Two
facts:
1.
In terms of death and destruction, the Hiroshima nuclear attack
wasn’t the biggest attack on a Japanese city. The conventional
fire bombing of Tokyo killed far more.
2.
The Russians were poised to mount a massive invasion.
The
Imperial Family agreed to surrender because they were advised that
while the Japanese military might be able to hold off an American
invasion, it could not withstand a combined US and Russian attack.
By
the way, what was Japan fighting for?
To
line the pockets of the Imperial Family, the richest family in Japan.
That’s it.
They
planned the war, they ordered the war, they profited from it and they
were willing to sacrifice the civilian population to carry out their
goals.
For
example, billions of dollars worth of stolen gold and valuable art
(much of it scouted out years in advance) was shipped directly to the
Imperial compound in Tokyo. None of it has been returned.
As
a condition for surrender, the Imperial Family was allowed to remain
in power unpunished and they remain in power today.
Can
you imagine what would have happened to those murderous, thieving
bastards if the Russians had gotten to them first?
But
as always, the US government was ready to make a “deal” – in
this case to have a base to fight Communism.
After
the war, the US government also protected – and hired – veterans
of Japan’s Unit 731.
You’ve
heard of Nazi medical atrocities, but the Japanese program was
exponentially larger and its crimes were largely covered up with the
help of the US government which wanted access to the data and the
practitioners.
* Terzijde: zonder de kabinetten Rutte hadden we er veel beter voor gestaan, minder werklozen, geen giga huurverhogingen…. Huurverhogingen die ervoor hebben gezorgd dat nu een groot aantal mensen bijna continu in de financiële problemen zitten, enz. enz. Het
was al wel duidelijk, toen de VN een rapport uitbracht over de
schrijnende armoede onder een groot deel van de VS bevolking, dat de
Trump administratie dit niet zou pikken en inderdaad zo
gebeurde……
Met
veel pompeuze omhaal probeerde Trump gehakt van dit rapport te maken,
terwijl het VN rapport NB was gemaakt uit gegevens van… de VS
overheid….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Niet getreurd zal men hebben
gedacht, immers er zijn denktanks genoeg in de VS die alles willen
verklaren wat je maar wilt……..

Heritage Foundation, een neoliberale rechtse denktank, die hoewel
gevuld met welgestelde schoften*, al een rapport klaar had waarin werd
gesteld dat het aantal mensen dat in extreme armoede woont in de VS, de 250.000 niet te boven gaat, terwijl de VN sprak over 18,25 miljoen
mensen, waaronder een enorm aantal kinderen….. Kinderen die door deze armoede
gegarandeerd een trauma voor het leven oplopen, zeker gezien de grote
verschillen die zij dag in dag uit om zich heen, dan wel op tv
zien…. Bovendien wordt je in de VS al vroeg op school gepest als je
ouders arm zijn, ‘jouw ouders zijn losers, dus ben jij dat
ook…….’
Uiterst schandalig ook: de Council of Economic Advisers gaf de Trump administratie zelfs de tip niet te spreken over het feit dat de lonen amper zijn gestegen, daar dit in het straatje van de democratische oppositie past……. Terwijl een grote groep arme VS burgers meer dan één baan heeft en ondanks dat zo weinig verdient, dat ze niet rond kunnen komen…….

‘Insidious’:
Emails Show Trump White House Lied About US Poverty Levels to
Discredit Critical UN Report
With
its attempt to falsify statistics and whitewash uncomfortable facts
about poverty in America, the White House once again demonstrated its
“contempt” for the poor, one critic argued

Infuriated
by a scathing
United Nations reportestimating
that over 18 million Americans are living in “extreme poverty”
and accusing the Trump administration of “deliberately”
making such destitution worse with its tax cuts for the rich, the
White House insisted in its June
responseto
the U.N. analysis that the United States is overflowing with
“prosperity” and that claims of widespread poverty are
“exaggerated.”
But
internal State Department emails and documents obtainedby Foreign
Policyand
the non-profit journalism website Coda Story show that the Trump
administration ignored advice of White House economic analysts and
knowingly lied to the public about the severity of American poverty,
which the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights
Philip Alston described as “shocking.”
Foreign
Policy reported
on Thursday that officials who were consulted last-minute on a draft
of the White House’s rebuttal of the U.N. findings “questioned
the accuracy of the data the administration was citing.”
Despite
the fact that the U.N. analysis cited government statistics to
bolster its claims about poverty in America, the Trump administration
opted to draw from a report by
the right-wing Heritage Foundation, which concluded that 250,000
Americans are living in extreme poverty—a stark contrast to the
U.N.’s conclusion that the correct number is 18.25 million.
The
Heritage report cited by the White House also concluded that the
conditions of the poor must be improving because many families living
in deep poverty own cell phones and DVD players.
“What
is your source for stating material hardship is down by 77 percent
since 1980?” Trudi Renwick, an economist at the Census Bureau,
wrote in an email questioning the Trump administration’s rebuttal to
the U.N.
Foreign
Policy reports
that it is unclear whether Renwick received a response, and the White
House kept references to the Heritage report in the final version of
its response.
This is not as dramatic as Trump’s tweets or bald-faced lies at press briefings. But in a way it is far more insidious; the contempt for facts is pervasive and maddening.
One
economic adviser also urged the White House to “not get into”
America’s steady economic growth, writing: “Already 8-9 years
long… which started under Obama and we inherited and then expanded.
But it will end prob[ably] in 1-2 years.” The Trump
administration ignored this advice, touting a “new era of
economic growth.”
While
the White House brushed aside the concerns of some officials, they
did modify parts of their response to the U.N. after advisers
questioned how truly prosperous the American economy is under Trump.
“Wages
haven’t really picked up, other than for supervisors,” an
official from the Council of Economic Advisers wrote in response to a
line in an early draft about workers’ salaries rising.
“This
triggers the left—best to leave it off.”
The
line was deleted from the final document.
In
contrast to the officials who raised questions about the White
House’s economic claims, Mari Stull, a senior State Department
adviser, attacked the U.N. report as “propaganda” in emails
and mocked the U.N.’s accurate claim that American child poverty
rates are among
the highest in the industrialized world.
“Based
upon my own experience, my sons are destitute poor and living off the
welfare state of Mom—so guess they contributed to the ‘youth
poverty’ crisis in America,” Stull wrote.
Bathsheba
Crocker, a former U.S. diplomat and vice president of humanitarian
policy at CARE, called Stull’s comment “unbelievable” and
wrote that it demonstrates once again the “contempt” the
Trump administration has for poor Americans.
