Trumps ‘beautiful clean coal’ verhaal voorgoed doorgeprikt als onzin

Trump ratelt al een paar jaar over ‘beautiful clean coal’, kolenverbranding die zelfs schoner zou zijn dan verbranding van aardgas, echter daar valt zoals te verwachten was nog wel het e.e.a. ‘op af te dingen…’

Uit het volgende Guardian artikel blijkt dat ‘clean coal’ (schone steenkool) niet bestaat en niet gemaakt kan worden, kortom je reinste bedrog!

High
above the red dirt and evergreen trees of Kemper County, Mississippi,
gleams a 15-story monolith of pipes surrounded by a town-sized array
of steel towers and white buildings. The hi-tech industrial site juts
out of the surrounding forest, its sharp silhouette out of place amid
the gray crumbling roads, catfish stands and trailer homes of nearby
De Kalb, population: 1,164.

The
$7.5bn Kemper power plant once drew officials from as far as Saudi
Arabia, Japan and Norway to marvel at a 21st-century power project so
technologically complex its builder compared it to the moonshot of
the 1960s. It’s promise? Energy from
“clean coal”.

“I’m
impressed,” said Jukka
Uosukainen, the United Nations director for the Climate Technology
Centre and Network (CTCN), after a 2014 tour, citing Kemper as an example of
how “maybe using coal in the future is possible”.

Kemper,
its managers claimed, would harness dirt-cheap lignite coal – the
world’s least efficient and most abundant form of coal – to power
homes and businesses in America’s lowest-income state while causing
the least climate-changing pollution of any fossil fuel. It was a
promise they wouldn’t keep.

Last
summer the plant’s owner, Southern Company, America’s
second-largest utility company, announced it was abandoning
construction after years of blown-out budgets and missed construction
deadlines.

“It
hit us hard,” said Craig Hitt, executive director of the Kemper
County Economic Development Authority. Some 75 miners, roughly half
living inside Kemper County, have already been affected in a region
where unemployment is 7.1% compared to a national average of just
4.1%.

“It
was going to be the biggest project in the history of the county,
possibly in the state of Mississippi,” Hitt said. Instead, this
year, Kemper County was home to one of the first large coalmining
layoffs of the Trump era.

It’s
failure is also likely to have a profound impact on the future of
“clean coal”. “This was the flagship project that was going to
lead the way for a whole new generation of coal power plants,” said
Richard Heinberg, senior fellow at the Post Carbon Institute. “If
the initial project doesn’t work then who’s going to invest in
any more like it?”

Company
officials have blamed the failure on factors ranging from competition
from tumbling natural

gas
prices to bad weather, bad timing and plain old bad luck.

But
a review by the Guardian of more than 5,000 pages of confidential
company documents, internal emails, white papers, and other materials
provided anonymously by several former Southern Co insiders, plus on-
and off-record interviews with other former Kemper engineers and
managers, found evidence that top executives covered up construction
problems and fundamental design flaws at the plant and knew, years
before they admitted it publicly, that their plans had gone awry.

Their
public statements helped to prolong the notion that their “clean
coal” power could be affordable, costing Southern’s customers and
shareholders billions, giving false hope to miners and firing dreams
that American innovation had provided a path forward for “clean
coal” technology at a reasonable price.

‘A
pony show’

                        

“It
was exciting times, but it turned out to be like a mirage,” said
Brett Wingo, a former Southern Co engineer who first went public with
his concerns about Kemper’s construction delays in a front-page New
York Times investigative report in
2016 and is now suing the company over alleged retaliation. “It was
a cool trick – on all of us.”

Kemper’s
failure will have a profound impact on international plans to slow
climate change which relyheavily
on the rapid development of technology to capture carbon and store
it, technology that has so far shown little
progress.

The
United States has spent hundreds of millions in federal taxpayer
funds chasing the chimera of clean coal. Donald Trump has been
particularly vocal about his support for clean coal. “We have ended
the war on American energy and we have ended the war on beautiful,
clean coal,” he said in this year’s State of the Union address.

Kemper
promised a way forward. But the documents show that while Southern Co
management presented a rosy picture of Kemper’s prospects to the
public, numerous structural problems with the project had emerged
during construction and internal documents questioned the very
foundation of the plant’s viability.

In
a 24 April 2013 earnings call, for example, Southern’s CEO Tom
Fanning regretted Kemper’s newly announced first budget blowout, a
$540m hike, but described “tremendous progress” on construction
and said “the scheduled in-service date” was achievable.

VS schendt mensenrechten op vreselijke manier: VN eist vrijlating van een gemartelde Guantanamo Bay gevangene

Ammar al-Baluchi werd in 2003 in Pakistan gevangen genomen, als één van de
samenzweerders achter de 911 aanvallen in 2001. Na langdurig te zijn
gemarteld werd hij overgebracht naar Guantanomo Bay, de illegale
gevangenis van de VS op Cuba.

Al-Baluchi werd lang vastgehouden zonder aanklacht of tussenkomst van de rechter,
pas in 2008 werd er een proces gevoerd tegen hem en i.p.v. een eigen
advocaat, werd hem een ‘onafhankelijke’ advocaat van het leger toegewezen………

Intussen
blijkt het bewijsmateriaal dat in het voordeel van al-Baluchi was, te zijn vernietigd in opdracht van de regering (Obama) iets waar leger ‘rechter’ Pohl van op de hoogte moet zijn geweest…….. Dit bewijsmateriaal zou met toestemming van Pohl aan de verdediging van al-Baluchi ter inzage worden gegeven, echter in het geheim draaide Pohl de opdracht daartoe terug…… (Nogmaals Pohl is ‘rechter…..’)

De VN
eist nu eindelijk de vrijlating van al-Baluchi, een goede zaak. Al
zou de VN de onmiddellijke vrijlating van al de Guantanomo gevangenen moeten eisen, naast de directe sluiting en afbraak van deze meer dan illegale gevangenis, immers al deze mensen zijn gemarteld, ontvoerd en gegijzeld…….

Daarover gesproken: elk van deze gevangenen door marteling verkregen zogenaamd bewijs (tegen henzelf) is van nul en generlei waarde*. Daarnaast zou de redenering van de VS volgend, marteling niet nodig zijn geweest, immers waarom martel je
gevangenen (die verdacht zijn) als je overtuigende bewijzen hebt van
hun schuld?  

Naast dit alles is veel ‘bewijs’ tegen de gevangenen in Guantanomo Bay vertrouwelijk en niet in te zien voor echte advocaten of mensenrechtenorganisaties………..

Verder kan je een enorm vraagteken zetten bij het
minimaal aantal gevoerde processen tegen verdachten in Guantanomo Bay: hoe
onafhankelijk waren en zijn de rechters (zoals Pohl) in deze zaken? De vraag
stellen is haar beantwoorden!!

Hoe is het mogelijk dat Nederland nog steeds mensen uitzet naar dit ‘land’ waar recht niet of amper bestaat….???

Weet je nog dat Obama liep te leuren met gevangenen van Guantanomo, omdat de VS het gore lef had deze door hen ontvoerde, gemartelde en illegaal vastgehouden mensen in eigen land te weigeren (na hun vasthouding in Guantanomo kunnen de meeste van deze gevangenen niet terug naar hun geboorteland, daar ze ofwel weer gevangen worden gezet, dan wel worden vermoord…..) Na zijn aantreden als president heeft het beest Trump gesteld dat Guantanomo open moet blijven en dat de VS ‘weer gewoon’ mag martelen……..

Waar zijn de landen die gevangenen van de VS uit Guantanomo overnamen met hun protest tegen deze monsterlijke, inhumane besluitvorming? Te laf om de bek open te trekken!! Dit terwijl de VS onder andere t.a.v. Nederland durfde te stellen dat de goede relatie met de VS beschadigd zou worden, als we geen gevangenen overnamen……. Nee, geen commentaar, maar het SOHR hoeft maar te melden dat gevangenen worden gemarteld door het Syrische bewind (zonder enig bewijs daarvoor) en de westerse wereld staat op haar kop……..

Nations Calls for Accused 9/11 Plotter to Be Released Immediately

(AP) — A
new report from the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary
Definition  UN WGAD) condemns the illegal detention and torture of a man who
was once accused of assisting the plotters of the September 11, 2001
attacks on New York City, the Pentagon, and other planned attacks.
The UN WGAD issued the new report outlining the detainment and
torture of Ammar al Baluchi and calling for his immediate release and
financial compensation. Al Baluchi was captured in Pakistan in April
2003 before being turned over to U.S. authorities. He has been held
at a secret military prison in Cuba since 2006 after being accused of
assisting the alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM).

“Mr
al Baluchi has been subject to prolonged detention on discriminatory
grounds and has not been afforded equality of arms in terms of having
adequate facilities for the preparation of his defense under the same
conditions as the prosecution,” the
report states.
The report indicates a source close to the situation has stated that
al Baluchi was held without charge or access to a lawyer until at
least April 2008, at which point he was unable to choose his own
representation and instead given a military lawyer. “He
has been deprived of due process and the fair trial guarantees that
would ordinarily apply within the judicial system of the United
States.”

The
2014 US Senate Intelligence Committee report on torture found that al
Baluchi was taken to the CIA black site known as the Salt Pit, where
he faced torture in the form of waterboarding and other simulated
drowning techniques as well as physical beatings. The UN Working
Group said this “widespread
or systematic imprisonment or other severe deprivation of liberty” is
in violation of the rules of international law which “may
constitute crimes against humanity.”

In
response to the report, Cmdr Sarah Higgins, a Department of Defense
spokesperson, told the Independent,“The
U.S. government has the legal authority to detain al Baluchi. Until
we have time to analyse the basis of their claim, we will delay
further comment.”

At
the same time as the UN is seeking the release of al Baluchi, the
trial of KSM may face yet another delay after nearly 15 years of
dead-end hearings. Military.com
reports:

The
judge in the Sept. 11 terror case said in court Monday that he would
order Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to explain in writing why he
suddenly fired the top official overseeing the war court.

Defense
attorneys in the case are calling the dismissal foul play, in part
because some had been hopeful of negotiating a deal in the death
penalty case with Harvey Rishikof, a Mattis appointee who until Feb.
5 served as Convening Authority for Military Commissions.

Judge
Army Col. James L. Pohl stated that the court needs to know why the
dismissal took place. Pohl has been overseeing the case of the five
men accused of directing or funding the 19 hijackers accused of
crashing planes in New York City, the Pentagon, and the Pennsylvania
field on September 11, 2001.

According
to Military.com, Pohl will issue an order in writing this week and
give Mattis a deadline of March 17 for a written response explaining
the reasons for the firings.

Unfortunately,
this is not the first time the 9/11 trial has dealt with funny
business from the government. On May 11, 2016, defense lawyers for
KSM asked for judge Col. James Pohl and the
prosecution team to be recused from the trial, and for the case to be
shut down.
Defense lawyers David Nevin and Maj. Derek Poteet say that the U.S.
government destroyed evidence related to the case, according to
the New
York Times.
The two men are unable to provide further details because the issue
is classified, but Mr. Nevin said the evidence was “favorable” to
the defendants.

Major
Poteet also told the Times that
the defense was first informed in February that Colonel Pohl would
provide them with a “summary
of a substitute” for
the original, classified evidence. The defense requested Colonel Pohl
to preserve the evidence for the record and Pohl complied. Or so they
thought.

“But
they learned in February, they said, that about 20 months earlier,
and without their knowledge, prosecutors had obtained from Colonel
Pohl a secret order that reversed his previous
decision,”the Times writes. “By
the time they found out, the government had already destroyed the
evidence, giving them no opportunity to challenge the move.”

Major
Poteet said the situation created the appearance that Colonel Pohl
was “colluding
with the government.” The Times reports
that the original, now destroyed evidence, may have been related to
one of several foreign black site prisons operated by the Central
Intelligence Agency in Thailand, Poland, Romania, Lithuania and
Afghanistan, and at a secret site at the Guantánamo base. KSM was
tortured for several years at one of these sites before being
transferred to the military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba in 2006.

It
is unlikely that the public will ever get the truth about the 9/11
attacks or the trials. These men will likely rot away in secret
prisons for the rest of their lives.

Van Helvert (CDA Tweede Kamer): wil dat er een tribunaal komt voor Syriëgangers, terwijl hij de terroristen in Ghouta wil beschermen…….

CDA sufferd van Helvert vond het weer eens nodig de media te zoeken, vandaar dat de kwezel afgelopen woensdag te horen was over ‘Syrië gangers’.

Hoofdthema was het Nederlandse voorzitterschap van de VN Veiligheidsraad, waar van Helvert er uiteraard van overtuigd is dat de wereld de billen bij elkaar knijpt als Nederland in de vorm van oplichter Rutte over wat dan ook het woord neemt….. (er is de laatste dagen een enorme hysterie ontstaan over een toespraak van sierdrol Rutte, die hij zojuist zou hebben gegeven in Berlijn, alsof deze hufter een staatsman van formaat is i.p.v. een leugenachtige oplichter die in zijn premierschap een enorm aantal werklozen heeft gecreëerd en blind achter de VS terreur in het Midden-oosten aanloopt)

Met het germanisme ‘het kan niet zo zijn dat” verklaarde van Helvert dat de Nederlandse Syrië gangers zouden moeten worden berecht door een speciaal strafhof als het Internationaal Strafhof……..

Het CDA is als regeringspartij overtuigd van ‘het feit’ dat Syrië tekeergaat tegen nu weer de burgers in Oost-Ghouta, zonder dat daar ook maar enig steekhoudend bewijs voor is. Wel moet men bij het CDA weten (en daarmee van Helvert) dat de VS Al Qaida Syrië van de (zwarte) terreurlijst heeft gehaald…..

Als van Helvert echt had geprobeerd te achterhalen wat er aan de hand is in Oost-Ghouta, had hij geweten dat Al Qaida en haar zusterorganisatie al-Nusra een waar terreurbewind voerden en voeren in Oost-Ghouta. Dezelfde terreurgroepen, die met haar propaganda orgaan White Helmets het westen overvoeren met zogenaamde feiten over wat het Syrische leger uitvoert in Ghouta (een paar dagen geleden was er al weer sprake van een gifgasaanval in Ghouta, maar blijkbaar was deze zo ongeloofwaardig dat de reguliere westerse media dit bericht nu eens hebben laten vallen….)

Het reguliere Syrische leger wil haar grondgebied volkomen terecht zuiveren van terroristen, die voor het overgrote deel van buiten Syrië komen…… Hoe zou jij het vinden als een deel van Nederland werd bezet door terroristen en de regering zou daartegen geen actie ondernemen??

In feite verdedigen die reguliere westerse media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici (inclusief die van het CDA) de terroristen van Al Qaida en al-Nusra (en de White Helmets), immers deze worden bevochten in Oost Ghouta….. Hoe kan van Helvert dan eisen dat Syrië gangers bestraft dienen te worden, immers in zijn ogen en die van Rutte 3 zijn deze mensen ‘helden’ die beschermd dienen te worden (‘helden’ van bijvoorbeeld Al Qaida en al-Nusra)???

Je zou bij zo’n pleidooi verwachten dat volksverlakker van Helvert z’n mond zou houden over Ghouta, maar dit leeghoofd wil laten zien wat een geweldig meelevend mens hij ‘wel niet is’, dus noemde hij Ghouta dat zoals gezegd wat het Oostelijk deel betreft propvol terroristen zit (die volgens van Helvert moeten worden beschermd ‘tegen de agressie’ van het bewind Assad (democratisch gekozen..)… Dit zijn overigens dezelfde psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters en martelbeulen die in het westen liefkozend ‘gematigde rebellen worden genoemd…..’

Nog een ‘geweldige uitspraak van van Helvert: voor ons (Nederland, Ap) is humanitaire politiek belangrijk en niet de geopolitiek…… Met andere woorden: Nederland staat voor bescherming van mensenrechten…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Het kan van Helvert niet ontgaan zijn, dat de door het CDA gewilde minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, de opgestapte VVD opperhufter Zijlstra, voor en na zijn aantreden een paar keer heeft opgemerkt dat schendingen van mensenrechten niet belangrijk zijn voor hem (en daarvoor voor Nederland) als het gaat om de bevordering van de Nederlandse handelsbelangen……!!!!

Waar blijft van Helvert met een pleidooi de VS, de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, aan te klagen bij het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC), o.a. voor de door dit ‘land’ gevoerde illegale oorlogen? Of wat dacht je van de reli-fascistische dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië? Om nog maar te zwijgen over de fascistische terreur- en apartheidsstaat Israël….. Met beide landen onderhoudt Nederland hartelijke betrekkingen, met grote dank aan het CDA van van Helvert……..

Assad heeft geen gifgas gebruikt tegen de Syrische bevolking!

De VS
minister van defensie, James Mattis moest onlangs bekend maken dat het
Syrische bewind geen Sarin gifgas heeft gebruikt tegen haar bevolking. Niet echt nieuws voor degenen die kritisch het nieuws
volgen, echter dit zou wel een enorme aandachtstrekker moeten zijn voor de westerse reguliere media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, daar men bij die media en politici Assad nog steeds
verantwoordelijk houdt voor deze gifgasaanvallen…. Zoals je al begrepen had: ook voor deze vaststelling van Mattis is geen belangstelling bij die media en politici……..

Uiteraard
hadden de politici en media kunnen weten dat de beweringen over
gifgasgebruik door Assad, niet op bewijzen waren gebaseerd en men in
feite genoeg had aan VN rapportages en de mening van echte
deskundigen (zo zag je hulpverleners die ‘Sarin slachtoffers’ hielpen zonder
enige bescherming >> als het Sarin gas betrof, waren die hulpverleners heel
snel zelf doodziek geworden…)

Ook de
gifgasaanval op Ghouta in 2013 werd niet uitgevoerd door het Syrische
bewind, maar door IS of Al Qaida Syrië (de laatste is vorig jaar door de VS van de
terreurlijst gehaald…..). Carla del Ponte zou destijds onderzoek voor de VN doen naar
deze gifgasaanval, maar mocht van de VS (onder ‘vredesduif’
Obama en hufter Kerry) geen onderzoek doen naar verantwoordelijkheid
voor die aanval door het Vrije Syrische Leger (bestaande uit IS en Al
Qaida terroristen)……. Terwijl bekend was dat zij beschikten over
dit gifgas…… Overigens wilde de VS ook na de gifgasaanval op Khan Sheikhoun geen onafhankelijk onderzoek toestaan……..

Dit alles terwijl als voorafgaand aan de illegale oorlog tegen Irak in 2003, VN wapeninspecteurs het reguliere Iraakse leger ‘gifgasvrij’ verklaarden……. Precies als nu, herhaalden de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, de leugens van de VS als zou Saddam Hoessein beschikken over ‘massavernietigingswapens…’ Moet je nagaan en dan durven diezelfde media en politici bijna dagelijks de vuilbek open te trekken over ‘fake news’ (of nepnieuws) op de sociale media…….

Kortom
Assad heeft geen gifgas ingezet tegen zijn eigen bevolking, het
zoveelste bewijs, waar het westen doof voor is…. De VS en de rest van haar hielenlikkende westerse oorlogshonden willen dat
Assad verdwijnt en daarvoor is blijkbaar alles geoorloofd, zelfs ‘false flag’ operaties door terreurgroepen….. 

Overigens maakte het BBC World Service radionieuws vannacht om 1.00 u. (CET) bekend dat de VN rapporten heeft vrijgegeven waaruit zou blijken dat leveringen voor laboratoriumbenodigdheden vanuit Noord-Korea naar Syrië waren verscheept….. De BBC nieuwsredactie stelde meteen dat dit weer een bewijs is dat Assad gifgas fabriceert, ook al is daar tot nu toe niet één keer bewijs voor gevonden…… Intussen rept men met geen woord over de enorme voorraden gifgas in Israël en Egypte, van waaruit hoeveelheden zijn geleverd aan de terreurgroepen (‘gematigde rebellen’) in Syrië…… 

Vanmorgen vertelde lulkoek praatjesmaker Remco Breuker op BNR (rond 8.37 u.) dat Noord-Korea ook wapens, militaire adviseurs en helikopterpiloten levert aan Syrië, waarbij hij o.a. de woorden ‘geloven en vertrouwen’ gebruikte……. Ofwel: twee vliegen die het westen wil vernietigen in één klap…… Alsof het Syrische leger niet genoeg militaire adviseurs en helikopterpiloten heeft uit Rusland en Iran…… Bovendien is Syrië nog steeds een soeverein land (ook al wordt die soevereiniteit continu illegaal geschonden, o.a. door de VS, GB en Turkije)….. Syrië moet buitenlandse terreurgroepen en legers van niet genode landen van haar grondgebied zien te krijgen, een zaak waar Syrië het volste (internationale) recht toe heeft en wie het land daarbij te hulp roept is haar zaak!!

(TIM) — It
was a stunning announcement, stunning because of what was said and
maybe equally as stunning because it was honest.

Secretary
of Defense James Mattis says there is no evidence that the Syrian
government used sarin gas on its own people.

It
is a narrative we have been pushing back on for years. So what does
this mean for U.S. policy in Syria?


And
will President Trump continue to push for war in Syria, or will he
return to the positions of candidate Trump who said the U.S. should
stay out of it?

Let’s
give it a Reality Check you won’t get anywhere else.

The
statement is getting very little media coverage but it is a very big
deal.

According
to Defense Secretary James Mattis, there is no evidence that the
Syrian government has used sarin gas on its own people.

Here
is exactly what Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon:
“We
have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it’s
been used.”

“We
do not have evidence of it.”

“We’re
looking for evidence of it, since clearly we are dealing with the
Assad regime that has used denial and deceit to hide their outlaw
actions.”

Mattis
insists that he wasn’t refuting the claims. But in a sense, he did.

According
to Newsweek, in 2017 a White House memorandum was quickly produced
and then declassified to justify an American Tomahawk missile strike
against the Shayrat airbase in Syria.

The
justification used was that Assad had used chemical weapons on his
own people. Then President Trump himself insisted that there was no
doubt that Syrian President Assad had killed his own people with
banned chemical weapons.

But
Mattis also didn’t qualify the statement to just the Syrian airbase
strike. That means that the 2013 gas attack in Ghouta also was not
proven to be Assad.

At
that time, President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry were
demanding congress approve use of force against Assad. Obama said
this from the rose garden as he said American destroyers armed with
Tomahawk missiles were on standby in the Mediterranean Sea.

“I’m
prepared to give that order, but having made my decision as commander
in chief based on what I am convinced is our national security
interests, I’m also mindful that I’m the president of the world’s
oldest constitutional democracy.”

Congress
did not approve that use of force, but then applauded Trump for his
use.

For
his part, in this latest statement, Mattis says that “aid
groups and others” had
provided evidence of the Syrian government using sarin.

But
as I have extensively reported over the past few years, there is much
evidence that the so called Syrian freedom fighters are actually ISIS
and Al Qaeda fighters. And there is evidence that they have used
chemical weapons.

Other
problems with the claims of Assad using sarin: in the 2013 Ghouta
event, the sarin came from home-made rockets, which were favored by
insurgents.

Also,
according to Newsweek:

“In
the 2013 event, the White House memorandum seemed to rely heavily on
testimony from the Syrian white helmets who were filmed at the scene
having contact with supposed sarin-tainted casualties and not
suffering any ill effects.

“Carla
del Ponte was unable to fulfill her U.N. joint investigative
mechanism mandate in Syria and withdrew in protest over the United
States refusing to fully investigate allegations of chemical weapons
use by ‘rebels’ who are actually jihadis, allied with the
American effort to oust President Assad (including the use of sarin
by anti-Assad rebels).”

According
to the Times of London:
“Carla
del Ponte, head of the independent UN commission investigating
reports of chemical weapons use in Syria, told a Swiss-Italian
television station that UN investigators gleaned testimony from
victims of Syria’s civil war and medical staff which indicated that
rebel forces used sarin gas – a deadly nerve agent.

“‘Our
investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing
victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report
of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions
but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the
way the victims were treated,’ del Ponte said in the interview,
translated by Reuters.

‘This
was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the
government authorities,’ she added.”

It
was the involvement of those jihadis posing as Syrian rebels that
made then-candidate Trump state emphatically that he wouldn’t
intervene and help oust Assad as Hillary Clinton wanted to do.

Candidate
Trump pushed back heavily against intervention. He warned that ISIS
was likely to take over Syria if Assad were ousted, just as they have
in Iraq and Libya.

And
yet the U.S. is only escalating fighting.

Four
Russian nationals, and perhaps dozens more, were killed in fighting
between pro-government forces in eastern Syria and members of the
United States-led coalition fighting the Islamic State, according to
Russian and Syrian officials—that according to the New York Times.

Russia
says that no members of the Russian armed forces were killed and that
any Russians fighting alongside the Syrians were mercenaries.

So
what you need to know is that candidate Trump was clear when he
pointed to the bush policy in Iraq and the Obama/Clinton policies in
Libya and Syria that have only strengthened the creation and spread
of ISIS and jihadism.

Candidate
Trump rightly pointed out that these policies had failed and that it
was insanity to keep pursuing those policies and expecting a
different outcome.

So
why is President Trump now embracing those insane policies that if
continued will undoubtedly leave another power vacuum in the Middle
East which will be filled with jihadis?

Nederlandse Patriot-raketten in Turkije: tijd voor een strafrechtelijk onderzoek

Na alle gedoe met Turkije, de Turkse propagandaministers die vorig jaar toegang tot Nederland werd geweigerd (om reclame voor de reli-fascistische slachter Erdogan te maken) en de excuses die de totaal mislukte VVD tophufter Zijlstra daarvoor maakte, wordt het tijd om eens te kijken naar de Nederlandse Patriot missie van een paar jaar geleden in Turkije.

Na die excuses van Zijlstra volgde de officiële terugtrekking van de Nederlandse ambassadeur uit Ankara (terwijl deze allang niet meer in Turkije was) en blijven er nog wel wat vragen openstaan, zeker gezien de huidige illegale oorlog die Turkije nu in Syrië tegen de Koerden van de YPG voert…….. (terwijl deze groepering tot op heden nooit ook maar één doel in Turkije, of een Turks doel in het buitenland heeft aangevallen…..)

Weet je nog dat Nederland in 2012 besloot Patriot-raketten inclusief personeel te stationeren in Turkije, dit tegen agressie van het Assad regime……. Niet dat Syrië dreigde Turkije aan te vallen, nee dat verzon de Turkse Erdogan dictatuur zelf en als grootste slijmbal uit de klas, nam Nederland het voortouw……

Wat was men in de reguliere media en politiek trots op onze ‘verdediging’ van Turkije, terwijl men dondersgoed wist dat Assad allesbehalve gemotiveerd was Turkije aan te vallen…… Immers de VS had een opstand weten te organiseren in zijn land (al door de VS e.a. voorbereid vanaf 2006, zoals uit documenten blijkt) en had daarvoor zelfs buitenlandse strijders, o.a. van IS, vervoerd richting Syrië, m.a.w. Assad had zijn handen vol……..

Terwijl onze raketten op Turks grondgebied stonden, heeft dit land minstens 1 keer illegaal Syrisch grondgebied aangevallen, waarna deze reli-fascistische dictatuur zelfs een illegale inval in Irak pleegde, waar het maandenlang weigerde te vertrekken, dit op aandringen van Irak en de VN……

Kortom onze politici en media waren er trots op, dat Nederland Turkije rugdekking gaf met raketten, alles betaald met jouw en mijn belastinggeld……..

Te zot voor woorden en een (echt onafhankelijk) strafrechtelijk onderzoek meer dan waard!!

Over deze Turkse agressie gesproken: bij de inval van Turkije in Syrië is al een groot aantal (ook burger-) slachtoffers gevallen >> hoe is het mogelijk dat Turkije haar gang kan gaan met deze enorme oorlogsmisdaad (het illegaal binnenvallen van Syrië en vermoorden van een groot aantal mensen) en de wereld wegkijkt……. Terwijl Syrië volkomen terecht haar grondgebied wil zuiveren van terroristisch geteisem, dat NB de bevolking van Ghouta terroriseerde, wordt dit land daarvoor internationaal aan de paal genageld (met behulp van een groot aantal leugens)…….

Haley is de knettergekke stem van de VS in de VN, die ongelofelijk genoeg met graagte wordt geciteerd door de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en wordt aangehaald door
‘deskundigen en politici….’ Terwijl deze Haley de ene domme opmerking na de andere maakt…… Haley heeft geen benul van de wereld waarin ze leeft en zelfs over de onderwerpen waar ze zich mee bemoeit heeft ze geen kennis…..

Je zou je werkelijk doodlachen als je hoort wat Haley te berde durft te brengen, echter het lachen vergaat je, als je de reguliere westerse media de stommiteiten ziet herhalen, die dit kwaadaardige leeghoofd oplepelt….. Niet alleen spreekt Haley voor de VS, de meest agressieve en grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, maar met haar woorden verdedigt en promoot ze zelfs de ongebreidelde terreur die de VS her en der uitoefent…….

Eén van haar laatste ongelofelijke oprispingen (waar er bijna dagelijks minstens één aan wordt toegevoegd) was de opmerking dat de Palestijnen nu maar eens het pad naar onderhandelen moeten nemen en akkoord moeten gaan met compromissen (opgelegd door de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël, Ap)…….

Alsof door alle onderhandelingen met Israël het leven van de Palestijnen er ook maar met één tiende procent op is vooruitgegaan en Israël niet volkomen schijt heeft aan deze onderhandelingen…… Sterker nog: Israël gaat tijdens deze onderhandelingen rustig door met het toestemming geven voor de uitbreiding van illegale nederzettingen op de West Bank, of het vernielen van huizen en andere gebouwen van Palestijnen in door haar illegaal bezet gebied………… 

Waar nog aan toegevoegd moet worden dat het leven de Palestijnen steeds moeilijker wordt gemaakt, neem alleen al het blokkeren van water- en elektriciteitslevering aan de Gazastrook, nadat Israël de Gazaanse elektriciteitscentrale zo ongeveer met de grond gelijk maakte (dat is overigens een oorlogsmisdaad, precies als het bombarderen van huizen (-blokken)……. Om over het enorme aantal militaire versperringen op de West Bank nog maar te zwijgen, blokkades waardoor Palestijnse boeren niet langer bij hun land kunnen komen….

Maakt allemaal niet uit voor Haley, de Palestijnen moeten onderhandelen en akkoord gaan met het afpakken van land, water, elektriciteit, huizen, gebouwen en in het ergste geval het leven van Palestijnse onderdanen, die Haley waarschijnlijk niet eens als mens ziet……. In feite zegt Haley dat Israël volkomen terecht de etnische zuivering van Palestijnen uit de illegaal bezette gebieden uitvoert…… (want daar komt de Israëlische terreur in feite op neer…..)

Clearing House“ –  Of
all the shameless people serving in the administration of the
shameless Donald Trump, one looks in vain for one more ignorant,
ill-informed and crass than the United States Ambassador to the
United Nations. Nikki Haley has proven repeatedly that she is an
embarrassment on the world stage, and the fact that she seems
completely oblivious to her repeated acts of appalling stupidity is
only further evidence of it.

Her
most recent foray into the world of head-scratching nonsense occurred
on Tuesday, February 20. She basically, in her most eloquent
way (not!), told the Palestinian government that she wouldn’t ‘shut
up’, as was very appropriately suggested to her. She suggested that
the Palestinians take “…the path of negotiation and compromise”.

One
wonders what color the sky is on Haley’s planet. Her disconnect
from reality is so severe that it’s a wonder she is able to string
two words together coherently (she seldom makes it much past two).
 Why, one might reasonably ask, is it always the Palestinians
who have to compromise? Why is no demand ever made on Israel?

A
few facts, those pesky things that Haley apparent disdains, may be
enlightening.

          +
In 1947, the nation of Palestine, by decree of the newly-formed
United Nations, was                       partitioned to establish Israel. Over 750,000
Palestinians were driven from their homes;                   many of them,  and/or their
descendants, live in refugee camps to this day. Thousands of               Palestinians were brutally slaughtered.

+
Since that time, Israel has encroached on Palestinian land,
destroying tens of thousands of Palestinian homes to make room for
Israel-only settlements which are illegal according to international
law.

+
Israel illegally occupies the West Bank, and arrests without charge
men, women and children. It also kills unarmed men, women and
children, sometimes on camera, with complete impunity.

+
The Israel Defense Forces (read: Israeli terrorists) stand idly by as
Israeli settlers (another version of Israeli terrorists), assault and
kill innocent Palestinians, raid their homes and forcibly and
illegally evict them, and desecrate their sacred buildings.

+
The illegal Israel blockade of the Gaza Strip is slowly and painfully
strangling the nearly 2 million people who live in what is often
described as the world’s largest open air prison. These people are
in this ‘prison’ despite never having been charged with any
crime, other than, what, in Israel’s opinion, is the crime of being
Palestinian.

+
Israel’s leaders have called for the murders of pregnant
Palestinian women, saying the ‘little snakes’ must be destroyed.

+
Israel’s leaders justify racism by stating that it is necessary to
maintain the ‘purity’ of the Jewish state.

Does
Haley not see that Israel has any role in this? Does she fail to
understand why Palestinians, including their spineless leaders, might
feel some hostility towards Israel? Does she not recognize that
Israel has a dismal human rights record and is in violation of
numerous international laws? She seems to buy into the concept
articulated by Palestinian activist Hanan Ashrawi:  “The
Palestinians are the only people on earth required to
guarantee the security of the occupier, while Israel is
the only country that demands protection from its victims.”

Haley
wants Palestinians to ‘negotiate and compromise’. Israel, in its
oh-so-magnanimous way, is always willing to negotiate ‘without
preconditions’. That means that it will talk at the negotiation
table as it takes more and more Palestinian land, and kills and
imprisons more and more innocent Palestinian people. Such
‘negotiations’ have occurred off and on for decades; the only
result is decreasing Palestinian land and increasing oppression of
the Palestinians by Israel.

The
U.S. has been the dishonest mediator of these negotiations the entire
time, and its clear bias towards Israel is nowhere questioned; it
cannot now, and never could, be an honest mediator.

And
this writer will ask once again why anyone thinks negotiations are
possible or necessary. They are not possible, because negotiations
can only occur between two parties, each of which has something the
other wants, that it can only get by surrendering something it has.
Israel takes whatever it wants from Palestine with complete impunity.

Negotiations
are not necessary, because international law recognizes Palestine’s
and Israel’s borders as those established in 1947. If this writer
robs a bank, no one would suggest that he and the bank manager
‘negotiate’ how much of the money he must return. When caught, he
must simply return it all, and suffer the consequences of his crime.
Israel has stolen huge amounts of land from Palestine. The
settlements must all be vacated, and the land returned to the
Palestinians. Haley should be reminded that international law forbids
an occupying country from moving its citizens permanently onto
occupied land. Of course, with her disdain for international law, she
would dismiss this concept, assuming she had sufficient intelligence
to understand it.

In
the U.S., following the most recent slaughter in a high school, there
appears to be a shift happening in society. People who have long
supported sensible gun control, such as banning the kind of automatic
weapons, whose sole purpose is to kill lots of people very quickly,
that were used in several mass murders, seem now to be taking control
of the narrative. This is the first step towards real change.

Surveys
in the U.S. repeatedly show diminished support for Israel, and
increasing support for Palestine. 

This has alarmed even Israel’s
leaders, who recognize that the younger generation of U.S. citizens,
the U.S.’s future leaders, are no longer supportive of the racist
ideology of Zionism. It is time for people who recognize Israel’s
constant, horrific crimes, to seize the narrative, and confront Haley
and the other administration officials, and the members of Congress,
who are beholden not to their constituents, but to pro-Israeli
lobbies, and enable the Palestinians to live in the peace and human
dignity that all people deserve, and that the U.S. and Israel have
for generations denied them. Haley’s ridiculous pronouncements at
the U.N. notwithstanding, Palestine will be free. Those of us who
believe in human rights must make it so.

Het BBC World Service radionieuws van 12.00 u. vanmiddag, meldde dat VN chef Antonio Guterres (zogenaamd een socialist) eist dat de pro-Syrische strijdgroepen onmiddellijk een staakt het vuren in acht nemen voor oost-Ghouta…..

Dezelfde Guterres smeekte de VS eerder te stoppen met de bombardementen op het Iraakse West-Mosul en het Syrische Raqqa, een smeekbede waar de VS weigerde op in te gaan…… Daarbij werd West-Mosul voor een groot deel platgebombardeerd en waarbij een enorm aantal burgers werd vermoord, deskundigen hebben het over veel meer dan 20.000 doden….. Het werkelijke aantal zal nooit bekend worden, daar de ‘Iraakse coalitie’ (o.l.v. de VS) na ‘de bevrijding’ onmiddellijk zijn begonnen met het bulldozeren van de ruïnes, zonder eerst de doden daaruit te halen….. Daarnaast verplicht de islam dat doden binnen 24 uur moeten worden begraven, dit in een chaotische oorlogssituatie, waardoor controle van het aantal vermoorde burgers uitermate moeilijk is vast te stellen….

Ook over de grote Turkse slachting in Syrië, een slachting op de Koerden in het grensgebied met Turkije, waar Turkije NB illegaal is binnengevallen, hoor je Guterres niet….. Volgens Turkije gaat het om YPG terroristen, dit terwijl de YPG tot nu toe nooit ook maar één aanslag heeft gepleegd in Turkije, het feit dat het om Koerden gaat is dan ook leidend voor de reli-fascistische dictatuur in Ankara…..

Voorts hoor je Guterres met geen woord over de beschietingen vanuit Oost-Ghouta op Damascus en op de stellingen van de pro-Syrische strijdgroepen…….

Waar Guterres al helemaal niet over spreekt, is de terreur waaronder het grootste deel van de burgers in Oost-Ghouta moeten leven, de terreur van Al Qaida Syrië, al-Nusra en hun kompanen in de strijd: de White Helmets.

WDR 5 meldde zojuist dat de pro-Syrische strijdgroepen gifgas (chlorine) zouden hebben ingezet, hierbij zou een baby zijn omgekomen en zouden meerdere gewonden zijn gevallen……. Eerder meldde Moon of Alabama al dat men bezig was een nieuwe ‘false flag’ operatie op te zetten, waarbij andermaal een gifgasaanval op de bevolking in de schoenen van het Syrische bewind zou worden geschoven……*

Al de gifgasaanvallen tot nu toe werden uitgevoerd door de terreurgroepen die in Syrië aanwezig zijn, zo blijkt uit onderzoek van de VN en zelfs de VS heeft toegegeven geen bewijzen te hebben dat Syrië gifgas heeft gebruikt tegen haar bevolking…..** Wel is bij zo ongeveer de hele wereld bekend dat de terreurgroepen in Syrië (in het westen aangeduid als ‘gematigde rebellen) over voorraden gifgas beschikken, waaronder chlorine, terwijl internationale wapeninspecteurs meermaals hebben gezegd dat het Syrische bewind geen voorraden gifgas meer bezit…….

Je snapt natuurlijk wel, dat de melding op WDR 5, de komende dagen het nieuws zal domineren, waarbij men fiks hysterisch naar Assad zal wijzen……. Een gifgasaanval waar zoals gewoonlijk als enige bronnen ‘bewoners’ van Ghouta (terroristen van Al Qaida, al-Nusra, White Helmets en een paar ‘burgers’, ofwel familie van de terroristen) en het SOHR werden genoemd…….. (SOHR is een organisatie van een gevluchte Syrische misdadiger, die zijn informatie NB haalt bij Al Qaida, al-Nusra, White Helmets en andere terreurgroepen….)……

Australië
wil milieugroepen en mensenrechtenorganisaties de mond snoeren:
‘Leve het fascistische neoliberalisme!’

Hier
wordt ons inspraak onthouden met de afschaffing van het raadgevend
referendum, voorts wordt onze stem steeds minder gehoord in de autocratische, neoliberale EU. In Australië heeft men al een voorsprong op de vorming
van een nazi-staat: de regering Turnbull wil
mensenrechtenorganisaties, milieugroepen als Greenpeace en andere
organisaties die zich inzetten voor een eerlijke samenlevingen een leefbare wereld, het
bestaan onmogelijk maken……

Vergeet
niet dat de opvolgende regeringen in Australië zich al op een
fascistische manier hebben gekeerd tegen mensen die de door de VS
begonnen illegale oorlogen ontvluchten, oorlogen waar godbetert
datzelfde Australië aan meedoet….

Mensen
(vluchtelingen) worden opgesloten in gevangenissen in onherbergzame
gebieden, het liefst op eilanden van andere landen, gevangenissen
waar het aan alles ontbreekt en waar deze mensen in onafzienbare
ellende leven…. Uiteraard schendt Australië daarmee het VN vluchtelingenverdrag, zoals de EU dit ook keer op keer doet, de Turkije deal is daarvan wel het ultieme voorbeeld…… (met ‘een mooie rol’ van de inhumane PvdA opperkwal Timmermans….)

Als je je in Australië verzet tegen deze onmenselijke, smerige gang van zaken, wordt je als verrader en communist afgeschilderd…… (alsof links zijn het slechtste is wat er bestaat, terwijl linkse mensen al meer dan 100 jaar vechten voor een leefbare wereld t.b.v. iedereen die daarop leeft)

Op ander gebied doet Australië ook een flinke duit in de zak: de klimaatverandering en de luchtvervuiling. Sinds een aantal jaren dumpen Australië en de VS (al onder Obama) steenkool tegen afbraakprijzen op de wereldmarkt. Daarvoor bouwt Australië wat de grootste kolenhaven op de wereld moet worden, men graaft zelfs een vaargeul dwars door het Grote Barrièrerif, dit om grote kolenschepen toegang tot die haven te bieden……. En ja, als je je daar tegen verzet, word je door de fascistoïde overheid daar als terrorist afgeschilderd……..

Dan is er nog het Nederlandse visfabrieksschip Margiris, dat omgedoopt tot de Abel Tasman de zeeën rond Australië mag leegvissen (eigenaar de Katwijkse firma: Parlevliet & Van der Plas, goed gereformeerde schoften, die schijt hebben aan gods schepping, maar wel elke zondag vooraan in de kerk zitten te jubelen)

Het

In plaats van in te gaan op de waarschuwing van de VN om de blokkade van de Gazastrook op te heffen voor humanitaire hulp, heeft Israël letterlijk de waterkraan voor de Gazastrook gesloten, terwijl dit gebied gebukt gaat onder droogte……..

Dit terwijl 97% van de Gazaanse watervoorraad is verontreinigd met rioolwater en zout, dit was begin vorig jaar al zo en de situatie is sindsdien niet verbeterd……. VN woordvoerder Robert Piper noemt de situatie ernstig en stelt dat de organisatie voor wie hij werkt achterloopt met het voorzien van de Gazanen van drinkwater…….. (overigens de situatie op de West bank niet veel beter dan die in de Gazastrook en de volgende gegevens zijn ook daar voor het grootste deel van toepassing, behalve dan de genoemde verontreiniging van de grondwatervoorraad….)

Hierbij komen ook de verdoemde Oslo akkoorden weer om de hoek kijken: destijds werd afgesproken dat Israël (dat toentertijd een deel van de Gazastrook bezet hield voor illegale nederzettingen) de grondwatervoorraden voor de Gazastrook (en West Bank) beheert, waarbij de verdeling werd vastgesteld op 4 keer de hoeveelheid voor Israël en de rest voor de Palestijnen. Echter in de praktijk gebruikt Israël meer dan 80% van de watervoorraad….. Israël verkoopt water aan de Palestijnen tegen de hoofdprijs, terwijl de zwembaden in de illegale nederzettingen (dat zijn alle nederzettingen…..) en elders t.b.v. de Israëliërs goed gevuld zijn……

Israël heeft het grootste deel van de infrastructuur in de Gazastrook vernield en ook elektriciteit wordt de Gazanen maar al te vaak onthouden (veelal heeft men 6 uur per dag elektriciteit…), nadat Israël de Palestijnse elektriciteitscentrale in 2014 aan flenters heeft gebombardeerd…… Als gevolg daarvan werken ook de sanitaire voorzieningen in dit uiterst dichtbevolkte gebied voor het grootste deel niet, een gebied dat in feite een openluchtgevangenis, of SS stijl getto is………. Pompen in de Gazastrook werken niet meer en de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël houdt de import van onderdelen ter reparatie tegen……

Ongelofelijk dat de wereld keer op keer Israël laat wegkomen met deze oorlogsmisdaden, met deze misdaden tegen de menselijkheid en het aanrichten van enorme bloedbaden onder de Palestijnse bevolking…….. Waar zijn de hypocriete politici die vooraan staan te schreeuwen als het om landen als Rusland, Iran, Noord-Korea en Syrië gaat, waartegen men ofwel boycots heeft ingesteld en openlijk dan wel verhuld een verandering van regime eist ,onder meer gebaseerd op ‘mensenrechtenschendingen…….’

Rather
than heeding the warnings from the UN to open up Gaza’s blockade
and allow vital aid, what we have witnessed over the course of the
last decade is a periodic all-out Israeli assault on Gaza’s vital
infrastructure.

GAZA  (Analysis) — Near the end of last month, Haaretz reported that, according to an expert hydrologist, 97 percent of Gaza’s drinking water has been contaminated by sewage and salt. The UN also confirmed that this was the case early last year, and clearly, the situation has remained unchanged even up until 2018. Robert Piper, the UN’s local coordinator for humanitarian and development activities, has called the situation “really very serious” and stated that “[w]e are falling far behind the demand for clean drinking water for Gazans.”

This
kind of mistreatment is part and parcel of an overall package of
deprivation that continues to plague the Palestinian people. There
are some 2 million residents in Gaza affected by this egregious
policy, famously one of the most densely populated areas on the
planet. Gaza’s water resources are fully controlled by Israel and
the division of groundwater is something that was provided for in the
Oslo II Accord. However, despite the fact that under the Accord
Israel is allocated
four times the
Palestinian portion of water resources, it has
been revealed that
Israel has been extracting 80 percent more water from the West Bank
than it agreed to.

In
2009, the World Bank wrote that
the responsibility was on the government of Israel to recognize that
water and sanitation is a central component of the Gaza Strip
humanitarian crisis and make arrangements to facilitate fuel
distribution to some 170 water and sewage pumps in Gaza; maintain the
Beit Lahiya Sewage Lake; and restore regular electricity supply in
order to reduce dependence on fuel for generators.

According
to the World Bank, at the time, almost all of Gaza’s population was
without running water and was dependent on stored water supplies. The
World Bank also noted that nearly all sewage and water pumps were out
of operation due to lack of electricity and diminished fuel supplies,
something that we will address below. But once again, these
deficiencies fall squarely on the shoulders of the Israeli
government, which is wholly responsible for Gaza’s electricity and
water supply.


In
order to rectify the issue, the Deputy UN Special Coordinator for the
Middle East Peace Process, Maxwell Gaylard, called
for the immediate opening of
Gaza’s crossings to allow the entry of spare parts and materials
critical to the restoration of Gaza’s water and sanitation
services. Israel famously closed Gaza’s crossing points in June
2007 and the local population has been suffering ever since.


However,
there are many other factors that have helped to create this
humanitarian catastrophe. Israel routinely unleashes bombing
campaigns on the Gaza Strip every few years, targeting vital
infrastructure, including destroying
Gaza’s only power plant in 2014.
The blockade single-handedly prevents vital materials and equipment
from making its way into Gaza, making redevelopment impossible, even
some four years later.



Electricity
supply

According to
the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the Gaza Strip
endures dry, hot summers that are subject to drought.


Exploiting
these conditions, Israel has used electricity as an inventive point
of leverage to torture the Palestinian people, while the
international community has stayed largely silent. This is the same
international community that cites human rights abuses in Syria,
Iran, and North Korea to promote military intervention and regime
change to suit its geopolitical needs, yet stays silent as 2 million
Gazan residents are suffering immensely in what is widely regarded as
an open-air
prison and
the world’s largest ghetto.


On
a good day, residents in Gaza over the last six months have been
receiving three
to four hours of electricity per day, the flow of which is controlled
by Israel. However, according to the Times
of Israel,
Gazans were only able to obtain four hours’ worth of electricity
thanks mainly to fuel supplies sent from Egypt. On a bad day, some
estimates cite
that Gazans have been receiving as little as two hours electricity
per day if any at all.


After
the Palestinian Authority said
it would begin
resuming payment for Israeli electricity flows to the Gaza Strip (at
a cost of some $2.8 million per month), Israel announced it would
restore its share of the electricity supply. However, this will
increase Gaza’s electricity supply only to approximately six hours’
worth of electricity per day. The outage of electricity is expected
to last for 12 hours a day at least, according to the Electronic
Intifada.


One
should bear in mind that, with a Gazan population of around 2 million
residents, the effects of this stringent electricity supply are felt
far beyond just the average household. In August of last year, Gaza’s
children’s hospitals also
warned of
a health “catastrophe,” as power cuts routinely take place during
four-hour-long dialysis treatment.


For
years, Israel has attempted to shed blame from its inhumane policies
and instead point to the debacle solely on an internal Palestinian
issue between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Last year, Human
Rights Watch’s director for the region, Omar Shakir, told
the right-wing pro-Israel publication Algemeiner that
because Israel is “legally the occupying power,” it bore the
brunt of the responsibility for this crisis. “Israel controls the
borders, the airspace, the waters of Gaza, so Israel has an
obligation that goes beyond merely responding to a request from
Palestinian authorities,” Shakir reportedly said.


The Electronic
Intifada also
notes that Israel has been using electricity as a politically viable
blackmail tool, with Israel’s Coordination of Government Activities
in the Territories (COGAT) stating it
would restore electricity after Israeli prisoners held in Gaza were
returned, as well as the bodies of two Israeli Defense Forces (IDF)
soldiers, Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul. It is also worth noting that
Egypt, too, shares
a great dealof
the blame for this horrific treatment of the Palestinian people 

Assaults
on Gaza

Rather

Since
the blockade was enforced, there have been three major IDF operations
in Gaza: Operation Cast Lead in 2008-2009, Operation Pillar of
Defense in 2012, and Operation Protective Edge in 2014.


Following
Operation Cast Lead, the World Bank reported that
there had been severe damage to the water and sanitation
infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.


After
Operation Protective Edge in 2014, the UN reported that
more than 20,000 Palestinian homes, 148 schools and 60 healthcare
centers in Gaza were damaged or destroyed. Israel even
bombed a
disability center at the time. Gaza has no air force, no air
defenses, and no substantive military to defend its people.

While
most pro-Israeli pundits would point to Hamas rocket fire as an
excuse for the interventions, the truth on the ground tells a
different story.


The
Submission to the United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on
the 2014 Gaza Conflict, published
by Truthout,
quite clearly demonstrates that Israeli airstrikes and ground
attacks preceded Hamas
rocket fire; and that Hamas rocket-fire had been nonexistent since
Israel’s previous assault in 2012. In other words, Hamas had been
abiding by its terms of the ceasefire —
even while Israel had been starving Gaza of basic human rights, as
argued and outlined above.


Further,
in July 2014, The
Guardian published a
blog by investigative journalist Nafeez Ahmed, which claimed Israel’s
brutal assault on Gaza in 2014 was rooted in a desire to control
Palestinian gas off the coast of Gaza and had nothing to do with
concerns about Hamas rocket fire. The
Guardian axed
his blog
not long after.

The
Jerusalem debacle

Israel modus
operandi has
been to attack Gaza by punishing the civilian population with these
heavy sanctions affecting its basic life necessities. It is almost as
if the Israeli government has been attempting to provoke a response
from the Gaza Strip, which could then be used again to justify yet
another intervention — given it has been proven that Israel has
lied about its stated reasons for intervention in the past. This
response, however, never came in the form that Israel might have
hoped for.


U.S.
President Donald Trump’s decision to unilaterally declare Jerusalem
the capital of Israel, inflaming an already tense situation, was the
political icing on the cake of Palestinian suffering. Regardless of
one’s views on the Israel-Palestine conflict, which continues to
divide people all along the political spectrum, the fact remains that
this decision alone pushed an already volatile situation to a point
of outright violence. According
to Reuters,
since Trump’s infamous decision, at least 13 Palestinians have been
killed in clashes with Israeli forces.


Further,
it wasn’t long after Trump’s announcement that Israel
began resuming
air strikes in
the Gaza Strip. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come in the
not-too-distant future. While tensions are heating up between Israel
and Syria, Lebanon and Iran, it has been largely overlooked that
Hamas and Israel are preparing for an imminent
war even
as we speak.



Gaza
in crisis

In
2015, the UN predicted that
Gaza would become uninhabitable by 2020. Not pulling any punches, the
UN concedes the cause of this crisis is based on two important
factors: Israeli military operations and the decades-long blockade
that has crippled Gaza’s economy and infrastructure. Reportedly,
Gaza has an unemployment
rate of some 50 percent,
the highest unemployment
rate in the world,
with a youth unemployment rate of at least 60
percent.


According
to The
New York Times,
UN officials are warning that Gaza is facing a total collapse. Rather
than exporting some much-needed freedom, human rights and democracy,
the Trump administration instead announced that it would withhold $65
million from UNRWA — vital money required for providing basic
necessities for some 1.2 million Palestinians in Gaza. The Times also
wrote:

Still,
whether out of bluster or desperation, Gazans both in and out of
power have begun talking openly about confronting Israel over its
blockade in the kind of mass action that could easily lead to
casualties and escalation.”

No
matter how one cuts it, whether Israel has been intentionally trying
to elicit a response from Gaza or not, the fact remains that the
Israeli government is intentionally pursuing a long list of policies
that will almost certainly lead to a hostile escalation, as the
international community continues to turn a blind eye to the everyday
suffering of the Palestinian people. Israeli policies indeed border
on a systematic genocide that will, if unchecked, completely erode
the Gaza Strip to nothingness in just a few short years.

Gisteren bracht Jason Ditz op ANTIWAR de uitkomsten van een VN onderzoek waaruit blijkt dat er in 2017, meer dan 10.000 Afghanen het slachtoffer zijn geworden van de
voortdurende oorlog in hun land….. Zo zouden er 3438 burgers zijn
omgekomen, ofwel vermoord en 7015 Afghanen gewond zijn geraakt, waaronder uiteraard veel
zwaargewonden…… 

De VN komt wel met heel precieze cijfers, terwijl Afghanistan voor een groot deel in handen is van de Taliban. Gebieden die niet of
slecht zijn te controleren op het werkelijke aantal doden en
gewonden, dus ga er maar gerust vanuit dat het echte aantal
slachtoffers veel hoger licht……….

Beste
bezoeker: naar dat land zet Nederland vluchtelingen uit, dit daar het
land volgens de ambtsberichten van Buitenlandse Zaken ‘veilig
is…..’ Ja ik weet ‘t: het is geen onderwerp om over te lachen, anders zou je je daadwerkelijk
hartstikke dood lachen……… 

Moet je nagaan: in ‘onze regering’ zitten ook nog eens figuren die zich christelijk durven te noemen (ach ja, dom van mij, echte christenen moet je zoeken met een hele grote schijnwerper, misschien dat je dan geluk hebt…..)…….

Dezelfde regering (en de voorgaande regeringen) die maar al te graag Nederlandse militairen inzet voor de illegale oorlog die de VS tegen Afghanistan begon……. 

Als je denkt dat alle nabestaanden van de door de VN aangegeven meer dan 3.400 dodelijke slachtoffers hun geliefden wel zullen vergeten, heb je het mis, gegarandeerd dat daar minstens een paar mensen tussen zitten die wraak willen nemen op het westen voor hun verlies…… 

Tja en dan komen de terreuraanslagen in West-Europa weer om de hoek kijken, waarvan de autoriteiten, ‘opiniemakers, deskundigen’ en reguliere media durven te beweren, dat die aanslagen niets te maken hebben met de door het westen gevoerde illegale oorlogen (die zij niet als illegaal zien) in het Midden-Oosten en Afrika……. ‘Illegale oorlog’, zo ongeveer de ultieme vorm van terreur……. Voor nu nemen vooral de terreuraanslagen* tegen de autoriteiten en westerse doelen in Afghanistan toe.

Het voorgaande blijft uiteraard niet zonder consequenties: mensen ontvluchten niet voor niets Afghanistan, ze vluchten voor geweld dat door het westen wordt uitgeoefend en het geweld dat dit oproept >> dan durft buitenlandse Zaken te zeggen dat Afghanistan veilig is…..

UN:
Over 10,000 Afghan Civilian Casualties in 2017

(ANTIWAR.COM) — The
UN has offered their official accounting of Afghan civilian
casualties in 2017 on Thursday, with more
than 10,000 casualties including 3,438 killed, and 7,015 wounded.
The overall toll was 9% lower than the previous year.

The
decrease was mostly the result of fewer civilian deaths in the course
of ground combat, likely because the fighting on the ground was not
in s densely populated areas in 2017 as it was in 2016.

Airstrikes,
however, rose quite a bit in 2017, mostly the result of President
Trump’s ordered escalation, and killed 295 people overall, a 7
percent increase over the prior year.


2018
is already shaping up to be a bad year, potentially worse than the
record deaths of 2016, with

January
and early February seeing a pronounced increase in high-profile
attacks in the capital city of Kabul, and many of those attacks
designed to inflict large numbers of casualties. With the US
escalation continuing apace, the airstrikes are also liable to
continue to rise.
