het Israëlische leger, voorts ‘de bedenker’ van de Dahiya ofDahya doctrine, een tactiek waarbij de burgerlijke infrastructuur
wordt platgegooid, zodat de vijand daar geen gebruik van kan
maken…… Ofwel gooi de boel maar plat, inclusief de huizen, zodat
de vijand zich niet meer kan verschuilen en ach dat daarbij altijd een groot aantal burgers omkomen, een kniesoor die daar over valt…… Eén en ander is op Wikipedia te vinden, waar men vergeet te melden dat dit een aloude tactiek is, die o.a. door de SS werd gebruikt tijdens WOII….*

Eisenkot
treedt vandaag terug als
opperbevelhebber en dat zal de reden zijn dat hij eindelijk heeft
toegegeven dat Israël inderdaad meerdere terreurgroepen, zelfs IS,
heeft bewapend…….. Israël heeft deze terreurgroepen ook op andere manieren geholpen, zoals het
oplappen van gewonde terroristen op de Golanhoogten (en bij ernstige verwondingen in Israëlische ziekenhuizen…..)……
In feite
geen nieuws daar dit al algemeen bekend was, behalve dan bij de
reguliere massamedia, althans ook bij deze media was e.e.a. bekend,
maar men hield dat gewoon onder de pet, immers terroristen steunen
wordt niet als heel netjes gezien, om het maar voorzichtig uit te
drukken…….
Niet gemeld door Jason Ditz in het hieronder opgenomen artikel zijn de meer dan 1.000 aanvalsvluchten van de Israëlische luchtmacht op doelen in Syrië, zogenaamd allen gericht tegen Iraanse troepen en konvooien, echter Israël heeft ook voor terreurgroepen bombardementsvluchten uitgevoerd, dit nog naast beschietingen op het reguliere Syrische leger vanaf de Golanhoogten, in beide gevallen op verzoek van terreurgroepen als IS, wanneer zij werden belaagd door dit Syrische leger……..
Vanmorgen was op BNR koekwaus Hammelburg met zijn column te horen, Hammelburg je weet wel van het BNR programma ‘De Wereld’ dat volgens hem volkomen onafhankelijk en onbevooroordeeld is, een leugen van enorme proporties! Met veel gelul stelde Hammelburg Iran voor als terreurstaat die de stabiliteit in het Midden-Oosten in gevaar brengt, althans anders kan je zijn praatje niet uitleggen……
Hammelburg wees wat betreft Israelsiche terreur (uiteraard niet zo door hem genoemd) op de ‘duizenden’ gevechtsvluchten van Israël op Iraanse doelen in Syrië….. De bolle sufferd deed alsof dit de normaalste zaak van de wereld is, zonder te wijzen op ten eerste het aanvliegen op bombardementen door de Israëlische luchtmacht via het Libanese luchtruim, een schending van dit luchtruim en als zodanig een enorme misdaad, waartegen Libanon niets kan uitrichten….. (onbegrijpelijk dat dit feit nooit wordt veroordeeld door westerse regeringen…….) Ten tweede is het bombarderen van doelen door Israël in Syrië een oorlogsmisdaad van formaat……. Echter dit alles is zoals gezegd geheel ‘normaal’, althans als je Hammelburg moet geloven……
Hammelburg zwetste verder met te zeggen dat Assad van de Iraniërs af wil in zijn land, een zaak waarvoor geen enkel bewijs is, integendeel: Assad wil voorlopig niet van Iraanse troepen af, die volgens Hammelburg de bevolking indoctrineren (ha! ha! ha! ha!). Zolang de VS en andere NAVO staten in Syrië de boel onveilig maken, zal Assad Iran niet pressen haar troepen terug te trekken….. Bovendien is de hulp van Iran door Assad zelf ingeroepen en zullen de Iraanse troepen na het verdwijnen van alle buitenlandse terreurgroepen uit Syrië, door Iran zelf worden teruggetrokken, al helemaal gezien de demonstraties de afgelopen jaren in Iran, demonstraties die door de VS werden georganiseerd (dit feit is door de VS zelf toegegeven!)…….
Ach ja, Hammelburg, een neoliberale fantast die op z’n best een trouwe lobbyist is van het militair-industrieel complex, de NAVO en van Israël natuurlijk.
In feite
heeft Eisenkot ten overvloede toegegeven dat Israël een terreurstaat
is en dit nadat Israël de natiestaat wet heeft ingevoerd en daarmee
officieel een fascistische apartheidsstaat is………
Israeli
Army Chief Gadi Eisenkot: Israel Is Arming Syrian Rebels
This
was the first official confirmation from the army chief, but back in
September Israeli media were reporting that Israel has
armed as many as 12 rebel factions.
Those reports were quickly censored by
the Israeli military, however.
The
rebel factions have been confirming such support for awhile as well,
saying they were given large amounts of money and aid as well. Syria
confirmed capturing arms and munitions with Hebrew writing on them
held by the rebels.
By
late 2018, however, Syria was making major gains in this part of the
country, ultimately forcing the Israeli-backed rebels to surrender,
with some negotiating relocation to Idlib.
Eisenkot
insisted the arms were provided to the rebellion purely for
“self-defense.” This is likely an attempt to justify the legality
of this intervention in the Syrian War, in which Israel has long
claimed neutrality.
In
reality, Israel’s claims of neutrality were always only
superficial, with officials having repeatedly expressed a preference
that ISIS or other Islamist rebel groups impose regime change rather
than the Assad government surviving.

Alsof de VS niet al veel te veel heeft ingegrepen in Latijns-Amerika, waarbij een ongelofelijk aantal mensen is omgekomen, gaat deze verenging van terreurstaten door op het oorlogspad in dat deel van de wereld…….
De inauguratie voor zijn tweede ambtstermijn van de Venezolaanse president Maduro, werd op z’n zachtst gezegd slecht bezocht door westerse staatshoofden dan wel hun vertegenwoordigers. Volgens de westerse landen o.l.v. de VS, is Maduro illegaal president, ook al stelden internationale waarnemers dat de verkiezingen in Venezuela eerlijk en goed waren verlopen…… Tja, als zo’n verklaring niet past in het westerse straatje laat men deze gewoon links liggen (of beter gezegd ‘rechts liggen’)……
Nadat de VS Venezuela naar de rand van faillissement heeft geleid, middels een economische oorlog (om zo ontevredenheid bij het volk te kweken*), is de VS, gezien uitlatingen van oorlogsmisdadigers Pompeo en Bolton, van zins Maduro af te zetten, als het ‘nodig’ is zelfs middels een invasie……
De VS heeft een aantal Latijns-Amerikaanse landen achter zich verzameld, landen die voor een staatsgreep in Venezuela zijn, bijvoorbeeld Brazilië en Colombia….. In dat laatste land, heeft de NAVO intussen 2 militaire bases en Colombia is dan ook als lid toegetreden tot de Noord-Atlantische Verdragsorganisatie……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Niet moeilijk te bedenken, gezien de geografische ligging van die bases (in de buurt van de Venezolaanse grens) dat ook de NAVO zich met die eventuele oorlog zal bemoeien, ofwel met ‘een beetje geluk’ gaat de NAVO met o.a. ons belastinggeld illegaal oorlog voeren in Venezuela……
De Colombiaanse oppositie leider Guaidó heeft intussen al opgeroepen tot buitenlands ingrijpen in ‘zijn’ land, waar hij uiteraard de VS bedoelt als buitenlandse partij, hij deed e.e.a. door ondermeer te zeggen dat hij bereid is het land te leiden……..
De hoop op een vreedzame oplossing van dit, door de VS gefabriceerde probleem, is zo goed als verkeken en mocht de VS inderdaad Venezuela aanvallen, wacht het Venezolaanse volk de dood en zal het land voor een fiks deel vernield worden, zoals de VS dat al zo vaak heeft laten zien….. Echter met één verschil: ook de belastingbetalers van NAVO-lidstaten zullen financieel moeten bloeden voor een volgende illegale oorlog van de VS, de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde…… (al is ook dat geen uitzondering, zie: Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië…….)

Within just days of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro’s inauguration, the US has declared his presidency illegitimate and is agitating for his removal. Brazil has also refused to recognise Maduro, and Washington’s other Latin American allies have joined in condemning his government. In short, the drums of war are once again thundering in Latin America.
But US-backed military intervention (or, even worse, US military intervention) in Venezuela would be a catastrophe. The US has no legitimate right to intervene; and nor does it seem to have genuine concerns about ordinary Venezuelans.
The drums of war
On 11 January, US national security adviser John Bolton announced that the US will:
“continue to use the full weight of United States economic and diplomatic power to press for the restoration of a Venezuelan democracy that reverses the current constitutional crisis”.
With Washington’s blessing, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó (also president of the country’s national assembly) has been, according to the New York Times, “proposing to take power”. Critical observers might argue that he’s pushing for a military coup. After Venezuelan police briefly detained Guaidó on 13 January, Bolton continued his tirade on Twitter.
Florida senator Marco Rubio, meanwhile, said that the US should recognise Guaidó as Venezuela’s leader:
We denounce the arbitrary detention of #NationalAssembly President @jguaido by Venezuelan Intelligence Chief Manuel Cristopher Figuera. We call on security forces to uphold the constitution and rights of the Venezuelan people. The U.S. and world are watching.
As The Canary has reported previously, Venezuela’s democracy isn’t perfect; but nor is that of the US, the UK, Mexico, or countless other countries. And judging by Washington’s long record of intervention, democracy and human rights are not its true priorities in Venezuela.
US hypocrisy
Within just 24 hours of condemning Venezuela, for example, Pompeo posted three separatetweets about US ally Saudi Arabia. He wrote that he was “grateful for the work you do on an ongoing basis to advance U.S. foreign policy”:
Thank you to the @USAinKSA team for all you did to support my visit, and grateful for the work you do on an ongoing basis to advance U.S. foreign policy.
The hypocrisy is clear.
Because there are fewer than ten absolute monarchies (undemocratic
by nature) in the world, and Saudi Arabia is one of them. With
Washington’s backing, meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is instigating what
the UN has called the “world’s worst humanitarian crisis”
in Yemen. So considering that democracy and human rights are among
the chief public justifications for US interest in Venezuela, support
for Saudi leaves it with no
leg to stand on.
In fact, US sanctions on
Venezuela – which have intensified under
Trump – are actively contributing to the suffering of ordinary
Venezuelans. In the words of The
Empire Files‘
Abby Martin, sanctions are “real attacks that kill real people”.
Supposed US concerns in
Venezuela are therefore unconvincing.
And even if they were sincere, the US would have no greater
legitimacy to intervene within another sovereign nation.
Perhaps Venezuela’s
massive oil
reserves can
better explain why the country’s been in Washington’s
“crosshairs for
decades”.
Don’t
let history repeat itself
Over past decades, the US
has left a bloody trail of destruction in
Latin America and beyond. And as US political leaders seek to
de-legitimise Maduro as a condition for intervention, it seems that
history is repeating itself.
We must recognise US
imperialist strategy when we see it – and condemn it.

Robin Ramaekers, een ‘oorlogscorrespondent’ van de VTM, die in het verleden door de VRT een half jaar op non-actief werd gesteld, wegens het valselijk invoegen van geweervuur geluid in een documentaire over Haïti, waarmee hij de indruk wekte beschoten te zijn geweest…….
Fantast Ramaekers die in België wel het haantje wordt genoemd, daar hij als reporter op de plaats van aankomst onmiddellijk wil scoren, was gistermorgen te horen op Radio1 rond 9.18 u.*
Raemakers deed net of hij alles wist van Jemen en daarvan overtuig je presentator van den Berg met een woord of 5……. Volgens Raemakers is er een ontzettend ingewikkelde strijd gaande in Jemen, waar diverse fracties elkaar bevechten……De Saoedisch terreurcoalitie vecht daar samen met Al Qaida en IS tegen de sjiitische Houthi’s, die hun geloofsgenoten van meet af aan probeerden te beschermen tegen terreurgroepen Al Qaida en IS……
Deze terreurgroepen kregen van president Al-Hadi een jaar of 6 geleden onderdak in Jemen, waarop deze soennitische terreurgroepen begonnen met hun massamoorden op de sjiitische bevolking, zelfs met gelovigen gevulde moskeeën waren niet veilig voor dit geteisem……. Ingewikkeld hè Ramaekers?? Zoals je begrijpt was dit tevens het sein voor de Houthi’s om met pijlspoed Al-Hadi af te zetten……
Volgens Ramaekers vechten naast de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, de Houthi’s en andere fracties, alsook Iraniërs in Jemen, een absolute leugen, voor deze bewering is niet éénmaal een bewijs geleverd……… Eerst stelde van den Berg (van de ‘onafhankelijke zendgemachtigde’ NOS) dat Iran één van de strijdende partijen is in Jemen, dit bevestigde Ramaekers, waar hij later stelde dat ook Iran het vuur opstookt in Jemen, terwijl hij niet één Iraniër heeft gezien in Jemen….. (niet dat hij dit stelde, echter als hij ook maar één Iraniër had gezien in Jemen, had hij dit zeker gemeld…..)
Hoorde Ramaekers niet over de VS, terwijl die vereniging van terreurstaten de Saoedische coalitie helpt bij de genocide die het uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen…. Honger, cholera, difterie en bombardementen zijn de pijlers van die genocide en die werden toch echt door diezelfde Saoedische coalitie geconstrueerd (verder gesteund door GB)…….
Naast Saoedi-Arabië maken ook de kleine Golfstaten, Egypte en Marokko deel uit van die terreurcoalitie, zoals gezegd gesteund door de VS: -met hulp aan de zeeblokkades, -af en aan VS troepen op de grond, -wapen en munitie leveranties, -levering van rollend, varend en vliegend oorlogstuig, plus -militaire training…… GB levert dezelfde goederen als de VS en doet daarbovenop training van het Saoedische leger……)
Zelfs het woord genocide werd niet gebruikt door fantast Ramaekers, die nog wel over de honger en kankermedicatie voor kinderen sprak, maar met geen woord repte over de cholera en difterie, die één op één het gevolg zijn van de Saoedische terreur…… Laat staan dat hij vertelde over het grote aantal ziekenhuizen dat door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie werden platgegooid….. Het laatste ziekenhuis was een ziekenhuis voor het enorme aantal Jemenitische cholera slachtoffers….. Gelukkig moest dit Artsen zonder Grenzen ziekenhuis een paar dagen later nog in gebruik worden genomen, anders was het aantal slachtoffers niet te overzien geweest….. (hoeveel bewijs voor de uitvoering van een genocide moet je hebben, voordat je het als zodanig erkent…..)
Veel artsen zitten thuis daar ze geen inkomen ontvangen, aldus Ramaekers, terwijl in werkelijkheid veel van de ziekenhuizen en eerste hulpposten simpelweg niet meer bestaan, doordat ze weg werden gebombardeerd door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie en je er dan ook niet kan werken, al zou je dat willen……
Ramaekers stelde dat vrede nog ver weg is in Jemen, dit vanwege het grote aantal fracties die hij meermaals aanhaalde, echter als de VS vandaag de Saoedische terreurcoalitie gelast te stoppen met deze illegale oorlog, is het morgen afgelopen met de genocide en oorlog tegen het sjiitische deel van de Jemenitische bevolking……
Ongelofelijk dat men een ‘journalist’ met ‘de kwaliteiten’ van Ramaekers uitnodigt bij de NOS….. Ach gelul, immers de Nederlandse oorlogsverslaggevers Olaf Koens, Jan Eikelboom en Hans Jaap Melissen zijn zo mogelijk nog grotere fantasten en berichtten eerder vooral over de situatie waarin ze zichzelf bevonden, dus hoe moeilijk het werk wel niet was, enz. enz. (klik voor de gein op het label met de naam van vooral de laatste 2, direct onder dit bericht)
Triest mensen, heel triest allemaal……..
* Na 9.00 u. op Radio1 het nieuws, uitgebreide reclames, 1 onderwerp, daarna ‘muziek’, gevolgd door het totaal onbenullige ‘Kritiek van Jan Publiek’, aangekondigd door de machostem van Radio1 sufkont Hans Hogendoorn….. Dat was gistermorgen bijna 20 minuten ‘nieuwsradio’ waar we met z’n allen belasting voor moeten betalen, het geheel gepresenteerd door de bijna domste Radio1 presentator Jurgen van den Berg……. (de absoluut domste presentator is die van het dof vervelende BNNVARA programma ‘De Nieuws BV’, t.w. Willemijn Veenhoven)
In de
strijd tegen demonstranten, begon de regering van dictator Bashir
met het beperken van de toegang tot Facebook en Twitter, twee
platforms die door demonstranten worden gebruikt om de demonstraties
door het land te coördineren. Van de 40 miljoen Soedanezen heeft naar
schatting 28 miljoen de beschikking over een smartphone,
vandaar……..
De
schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, Joziah Thayer, is zo naïef om te denken dat Bashir het meende toen deze na
gewelddadigheden van het leger tegen demonstranten, het leger
publiekelijk opriep minder geweld te gebruiken, terwijl ze Bashir
even daarvoor vergeleek met een gewonde leeuw die elk moment kan
toeslaan….. Ze stelt dan ook dat het leger ondanks die oproep door
is gegaan met het gebruik van bruut geweld tegen de demonstranten, waar ik aan toe zou willen voegen: zoals Bashir dat heeft verordonneerd……
Niet
voor niets ook dat Bashir, nu 30 jaar aan het bewind na een
staatsgreep van het leger, allerlei politieke tegenstanders en
demonstranten heeft laten arresteren. Waar dezelfde Bashir het advies
van de VN, als gebaar politieke gevangenen vrij te laten, naast zich
heeft neergelegd……
Troepen
van de regering zouden volgens Human Rights Watch ziekenhuizen zijn
binnengedrongen, om daar gewonde demonstranten af te tuigen en te
arresteren…….
De VS,
Groot-Brittannië, Canada en Noorwegen hebben laten weten zwaar
verontrust te zijn en hebben gewaarschuwd dat de zaken die zich nu
afspelen in Soedan nauwlettend worden gevolgd door die landen en dat
e.e.a. gevolgen kan hebben voor de omgang met Soedan in de (nabije)
toekomst….. Anders gezegd: Bashir als je niet oppast vallen wij Soedan binnen…..
Het
lullige van westers ingrijpen in dergelijke
situaties is dat dit niet leidt tot bescherming van de bevolking, integendeel het leidt altijd weer tot groot bloedvergieten onder de bevolking, terecht dan ook de hoop van Thayer
dat de genoemde landen niet ingrijpen en het land in een bloedbad
veranderen……. Wat Thayer niet noemt zijn de bemoeienissen van het
westen met Soedan in het verleden, waar men maar weinig problemen had
met Bashir (immers Soedan had een ‘gezond economisch klimaat’ voor (grote) westerse bedrijven, ofwel uiterst goedkope
werkkrachten zonder enige rechten en geen ‘gezeur’ over milieuvervuiling enz…..)
Thayer
heeft groot gelijk met te stellen dat de bevolking in opstand dient
te komen tegen de corrupte regering Bashir en haar agressieve
leger, waar dit geen taak is voor even agressieve westerse staten, die na ingrijpen landen achterlaten als rokende puinhopen, overladen met lijken… Voorts stelt Thayer dat de protesten in Soedan halverwege afgelopen december begonnen, echter als ik me niet vergis zijn die protesten al veel langer aan de gang, waarschijnlijk doelt Thayer op de grootte van de demonstraties, die inderdaad vanaf december fiks zijn gegroeid.

Bashir’s
Government Forces Are Brutalizing Protesters In Sudan
Late
last month al-Bashir’s government began restricting access
to popular social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter which
have been used by demonstrators to coordinate protest in major cities
across Sudan. President Omar al-Bashir has ruled over Sudan for 30
years after coming to power during a military coup in
1989.
According
to Reuters,
there are 40 million people in Sudan, and 28 million of them have
mobile phones, which has made the Internet a vital tool in combating
media censorship. President Omar al-Bashir’s actions reflect that
of a paranoid lion ready to strike out with brute force against
anyone who threatens his reign. He has arrestedpolitical
opponents by the dozens even as the U.N. urged Bashir to release
political foes and protesters imprisoned as a “good faith gesture.”
The
protest began in mid-December, and instead of responding like a
stable-minded leader Bashir publicly urged government forces to use
less force, but his forces didn’t seem to listen as they cracked
down on protesters resulting in dozens being killed. January 9th of
this month, more protesterupted
in the city of Omdurman leading to one protester being killed and six
others injured. On the same day, President Omar al-Bashir held a
rally in Sudan’s capital city of Khartoum, where he pledged to stay
in control, seemingly oblivious to daily protest calls for him to
step down.
According
to a reportfrom
Human Rights Watch’s Associate Director in Africa, Jehanne Henry,
Sudanese government forces entered hospitals terrifying patients and
started to beat and arrest protesters being treated for injuries as
well as the doctors who were treating them. Government forces were
reportedly heard telling the hospital staff “we don’t care if you
are doctors.” Later that same day, doctor organizations across
Sudan condemned the attacks on hospitals by government forces
and announcedthey
were joining a nationwide general strike.
Norway,
the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada all condemned the
attacks on protesters stating that the actions of Bashir and his
government are being monitored and will dictate how these nations
deal with Sudan in the future. Whenever we have unrest in a region,
Western nations feel as if it is their right to be the policemen of
the world. Why should a nation like the United States that has 25% of
their population in prison be the moral authority of human rights
globally? Sudan does not need the United States or the United Kingdom
– all Sudan needs is a pure rebellion, from the citizens who live
there.
In
recent history when Western powers intervene in unrest in the Middle
East or North African countries it often ends with the citizens who
Western powers are allegedly helping, being displaced from their
homes. The ‘War on Terror’ has killed millions
of Muslims. These interventions rarely help the citizens of the
nations where they intervene. Instead, they are used as pawns for
public acceptance for the very atrocities being committed against
them.

Als
de VS zou besluiten te stoppen met zich te bemoeien met het buitenland
en daarmee de wereld naar de gallemiezen helpt, zullen de slechte
krachten winnen…… Het voorgaande is de strekking van de kop boven
een artikel dat Caitlin Johnstone gisteren publiceerde…. Ofwel: dat de wereld in chaos, dood en verderf wordt gedompeld door de VS, is beter dan een volgens de VS als demon afgeschilderde dictator of een democratisch gekozen president ‘diens gang te laten gaan’ (waarbij de VS een gigantisch aantal leugens tegen zo’n president of dictator gebruikt om haar illegale acties van een legitiem tintje te voorzien)
De
VS wordt volkomen ten onrechte neergezet als de politieagent van de
wereld, ook door een enorm aantal westerse politici, reguliere westerse media en daarmee ook door het grootste deel van de afzonderlijke westerse volkeren……. (die door hun politici en media een rad voor de ogen wordt gedraaid…….)
Ook in ons land werken de meeste politici en de volledige reguliere media daaraan mee (o.a. door het brengen van fake news [nepnieuws] en andere desinformatie), zoals door de NRC en haar volkomen ten onrechte de hemel in geprezen journalist en ‘schrijver’ Henk Hofland,
die in 2016 overleed. Hofland, volgens de reguliere media ‘Nederlands beste journalist’ van de 20ste eeuw… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! VS verwoest de wereld met haar: -illegale oorlogen, -geheime

opstanden en staatsgrepen, vaak in het verlengde van elkaar,

tot een opstand moeten leiden….. -het manipuleren van verkiezingen
elders en tot slot: -het steunen van dictaturen, zoals die van de reli-fascistische staat Saoedi-Arabië, een zaak die
volkomen ingaat tegen de door de VS zelf gepropageerde redenen voor
ingrijpen elders: het bevorderen van democratie en vrijheid over de
wereld……..
Naast het voorgaande kan je nog stellen dat de VS de hele wereld bespioneert, zelfs haar bondgenoten zijn daar niet veilig voor, spionage ook t.b.v. grote bedrijven in de VS…..
Niet
alleen laat de VS na haar oorlogsvoering elders landen in puin
achter, maar begaat met die oorlogsvoering een enorm aantallen massamoorden, zo heeft de VS
vanaf het eind van WOII tot nu toe, o.a. met een enorm aantal grote oorlogsmisdaden en andere misdaden zoals hierboven vermeld, meer dan 22,5 miljoen mensen vermoord……. Niet vreemd dus dat de VS verantwoordelijk is voor miljoenen vluchtelingen en alle problemen die dat oplevert…….
Wat
totaal belachelijk dan, zoals ook door Johnstone verwoord, dat landen als Rusland, Syrië,
Iran en Noord-Korea volkomen onterecht en zonder enig bewijs de schuld krijgen voor de hierboven opgesomde
zaken, misdaden die de VS op grote schaal uitvoert, waar wel bewijzen voor zijn, alles mede gevoed door pro-VS
propaganda in de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en door het
overgrote deel van de westerse politici…….

Secretary
of State Mike Pompeo told
reporters on Saturday that
the government under Venezuela’s recently re-inaugurated president
Nicolas Maduro is “illegitimate”, and that “the United
States will work diligently to restore a real democracy to that
country.”
Pompeo’s
remarks, which were
echoed by
Trump’s National Security Advisor John Bolton, are interesting for a
couple of reasons. The first is because Venezuela’s presidential
election in May of last year (which incidentally was found
to have been perfectly legitimate by
the international Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America)
was actively
and aggressively meddled in by
the US and its allies. The second is that while the US government is
openly broadcasting its intention to continue interfering in
Venezuela’s political system, it continues to scream bloody murder
about alleged Russian interference in its own democratic process two
years ago.
What
is the difference between the behavior of the United States, which
remains far and away the
single worst offender in foreign election meddling on
the planet, and what Russia is accused of having done in 2016?
According to a
comment made by
former CIA Director James Woolsey last year, it’s that the US
interferes in foreign democracies “for a very good cause.”
And
that’s really the only argument that empire loyalists have going for
them on this subject. The US is different because the US has moral
authority. It’s okay for the US to continue to interfere in the
political affairs of foreign nations while it would be an
unforgivable and outrageous “act
of war”
for a nation like Russia to do the exact same thing, because the US
is countering the interests of the Bad Guys while Russia is
countering the interests of the Good Guys. Who decided who the Good
Guys and Bad Guys are in this argument? The US.
This
“What we do is good because we’re the Good Guys”
faith-based doctrine was regurgitated with full-throated zealotry
in a
recent speech given by
Pompeo in Cairo, in which he cited “America’s innate goodness”
in making the absolutely
ridiculous claim
that “America is a force for good in the Middle East” which
has been “absent too much” from the region previously.
America’s nonstop deadly interventionism in the Middle East is
“good”, because America is “innately good”.
America’s
constant military interventionism, election interference and other
nastiness are painted as Good Things done by Good Guys to fight the
Bad Guys. The argument, when you boil it right down, is that if
America wasn’t constantly starting wars, invading sovereign nations,
staging coups, sponsoring proxy conflicts, arming terrorists, bombing
civilians, torturing people, implementing starvation sanctions on
impoverished populations, pointing nuclear weapons everywhere, spying
on us all with a globe-spanning Orwellian surveillance network,
interfering in foreign elections, and patrolling the skies with
flying death robots, the Bad Guys might win.
Sort
of makes you wonder who the Bad Guys really are, huh?
The
theme of Good Guys fighting Bad Guys resonates with a population that
has been raised for generations on Hollywood films featuring a
handsome action hero emerging victorious after a ninety-minute
struggle and karate kicking an ugly villain off a cliff before
kissing the pretty girl, but it doesn’t accurately reflect the
reality we actually live in. Our world is dominated by extremely
powerful people who are motivated not out of interest in good or evil
but a drive toward power and profit which is completely disinterested
in morality of any kind, and the empires they build for themselves
have their foundations on the backs of ordinary people who are just
trying to get by. The majority of those extremely powerful people
either live in the United States or have formed alliances with US
power structures, and all their agendas in Asia, South America, the
Middle East and elsewhere have nothing to do with “protecting
democracy” or being a “force of good”, and everything
to do with amassing more power.
Even
among those who recognize that the US-centralized empire isn’t a
shining beacon of virtue in our world, the notion remains prevalent
that if American power ceases to be a unipolar dominator then someone
worse will take over the world. This fear-based mindset ultimately
underlies all establishment manipulation and all educated support for
it: the idea that someone needs to rule and dominate the world to
prevent someone else from doing the same. But what are the fruits of
this mindset? A corporatist Orwellian dystopia hurtling toward
climate collapse if nuclear war doesn’t kill us all first.
We
can’t keep doing this. We literally can’t; we’ll evolve beyond this
fear-based dominator paradigm or we’ll all perish beneath its feet
very soon. We are now in a position where our irrational fear of
being invaded by China has pushed us to the brink of extinction, so
it isn’t even a gamble to step off that train and try something else
instead.
It
is entirely possible that the US is capable of functioning like a
normal nation and simply defending its own shores and sustaining
itself without interfering in world affairs. It is entirely possible
that the threat everyone imagines of some foreign power stepping in
as the unipolar dominator should America vacate that role is the
product of fearful imaginings with no bearing on reality and a
fundamental misunderstanding of humanity. It is entirely possible
that we are capable of creating a world where nobody dominates
anybody, and no iron-fisted world leader of any kind is needed.
Either way, the train we’re on is headed for a brick wall, so we’ve
now got nothing to lose by stepping off.
Bedenk voorts dat hierboven niet is gesproken over het vervuilen van met milieu door de VS, niet alleen met al haar oorlogshandelingen, maar o.a. ook door het dumpen van steenkool op de wereldmarkt (tegen afbraakprijzen)……..

Activisten
hebben afgelopen donderdag in Washington gedemonstreerd tegen het
zonder een eerlijk proces voor onbepaalde tijd vasthouden van
verdachten, dit in concentratiekamp Guantanamo Bay op Cuba……
Nog
40 verdachten zitten vast in Guantanamo Bay, 17 jaar na het
installeren van dit concentratiekamp en 10 jaar nadat Obama een
onmiddellijke sluiting beloofde…….
In
feite gijzelt de VS de gevangenen op Guantanamo Bay, een smerige
misdaad (waar hun gevangenneming al illegaal was en ze daarna ook nog eens werden ontvoerd door de VS….)…… Aan het voorgaande kan je toevoegen dat de behandeling van de
gegijzelde verdachten in dit concentratiekamp zonder meer als
geestelijke en fysieke marteling kan worden gezien……. Guantanamo Bay waar de
verdachten werden gemarteld met o.a. martelwerktuigen, martelingen waarna een
paar verdachten werden veroordeeld, alsof het normaal is om mensen te
martelen voor een verklaring (die zoals wetenschappelijk bewezen, van
nul en generlei waarde is….)
De
VS bewijst met Guantanamo Bay, of zelfs men het daar noemt Gitmo, geheel ten overvloede nog eens dat het de grootste terreurentiteit op
aarde is…….
Hoe
is het in godsnaam mogelijk dat de wereld de VS laat begaan, niet
alleen met het concentratiekamp op Cuba, maar ook met alle andere
vormen van grootschalige terreur die de VS uitoefent over de wereld,
zoals: -illegale oorlogen, -staatsgrepen, -geheime militaire moordacties, -standrechtelijke executie van verdachten middels drones (waarbij meer

Activists
decry abuse at Guantanamo, 10 years after Obama ordered it shut
WASHINGTON
– Guantanamo
Bay inmate Tolfiq al-Bihani has been cleared for release, but 10
years after former President Barack Obama signed an executive order
to shut down the detention facility, he and 39 others remain
imprisoned without the prospect of freedom or a fair trial.
On
Thursday, dozens of activists gathered at a park across from the
White House to demand closing the detention facility, which operates
outside the US legal system.
Protesters
in orange jumpsuits with black bags covering their heads, symbolising
the abuse that Guantanamo prisoners have faced, stood with their
backs to the White House as activists and legal experts denounced the
continued detention of 40 people at the prison.
The
facility, built on US-controlled land in Cuba, was set up to house
suspected dangerous militants from US wars after the 9/11 attacks.
The
demonstration marked 17 years since the detention facility opened and
10 years since Obama signed a decree to close it down “promptly“.
Jessica
Murphy and Leila Murphy, two sisters whose father was killed in the
9/11 attacks, said instead of ensuring justice for the victims
Guantanamo has “compounded the tragedy of 9/11”.
“We
abhor the government’s disregard for rule of law and its flagrant
human rights abuses in the name of our father and other victims,”
they said, taking turns reading a joint statement.
‘Source
of shame’
British
journalist Andy Worthington said the detention facility has been open
for 6,210 days.
“That’s
6,210 days of shame for every decent American… Every day this
prison is open is a source of shame for all decent people,” he
told the crowd.
“This
isn’t an ordinary prison where people have been tried and convicted.
This isn’t a war prison where people are taken off the battlefield
and held, protected by the Geneva Convention until the end of
hostilities.”
What
Guantanamo is, Worthington said, is a place where people can be held
without “any rights whatsoever as human beings”.
“This
prison is unconstitutional, it is illegal and more importantly it is
immoral and inhumane”

He
called the detainees political prisoners who have become political
tools for President Donald Trump.
Indeed,
the US president has repeatedly brought up Guantanamo to project an
image of strength in the face of supposed danger from what he calls
“radical Islamic terrorism”.
Trump
even mentioned the prison in his 2018 State
of the Union,
an annual speech to the nation in which presidents highlight their
accomplishments and lay out their vision for the forthcoming year.
Furthermore,
under his administration, the process of finding countries to
transfer five inmates cleared for release, including al-Bihani, has
been frozen.
As
a candidate, Trump promised to keep the prison open and load it up
with “bad
dudes“.

Civil
rights advocates have criticised the abuse and lack of due process at
the detention facility, where inmates have few legal resources and
face no charges from which they can defend themselves.
Last
year, Trump revoked Obama’s executive order to shut down the
prison, proclaiming that
the US can detain “certain persons captured in connection with
an armed conflict for the duration of the conflict”.
Critics
say Trump’s decree opens the door for indefinite detention of
suspected militants, as the “War on Terror” has been going
on for 18 years and has no end in sight.
For
his part, Obama blamed lack
of political consensus for his failure to follow up on the promise to
down the facility.
“He
wasn’t bold enough,” said Daphne Eviatar, Amnesty International
USA’s director of security with human rights, of the former
president. “He could have done it at the very beginning. He had
the support of Congress.”
In
the process of being “extremely careful”, Eviatar told
Middle East Eye, Obama slowed the process of transferring detainees,
and when Republicans took over Congress in 2011, they refused to
transfer suspects to the US for trial.
‘Immoral
and inhumane’
“This
prison is unconstitutional, it is illegal and more importantly it is
immoral and inhumane,” said Aya Saed, who works at the Center
for Constitutional Rights, which legally represents Guantanamo
detainees.
While
acknowledging the difficulty of progress under the Trump
administration, Saed called for collective action on behalf of the
prisoners.
“What
I do hope is that their perseverance, their resilience, their will to
get up every day to participate in hunger strikes inspires us to
continue dreaming of a different world, imagining of a different
reality,” she said at the protest on Friday.
At
an event organised by the Congressional Progressive Caucus and rights
groups in Washington earlier on Friday, Mohamedou Slahi, a former in
Guantanamo inmate who was held from 2002 until 2016, described the
abuse he endured in the prison.
“In
an attempt to force me to confess to crimes I did not commit, I was
subjected to torture and to cruel and inhumane treatment,” he
told the attendees via video conference from Mauritania, where he was
transferred in 2016, “as if losing my freedom, my livelihood and
being forcibly separated from my loved ones wasn’t cruel enough.”
The
human rights activist and author of Guantanamo Diary, which he
wrote when he was in the prison, added that his release in did not
end his suffering.
“I
am still not free,” he said, explaining that he has been denied
a passport and can’t leave Mauritania.
“I
am a prisoner in my own country,” Slahi said. “I am being
denied my freedom of movement” despite never having been charged
with or committing any acts of terrorism or other crimes.

InformationClearing House bracht gisteren een artikel over de plannen
van de VS met Latijns-Amerika, van belang nu het er toch op lijkt dat
de VS aanzienlijke troepenverminderingen zal doorvoeren in het
Midden-Oosten.
Thierry
Mason, de schrijver van het artikel gaat uitvoerig in op de bestaande
status quo in Latijns-Amerika, waar bijvoorbeeld Venezuela al tijden
in de schijnwerpers staat. De VS is al jaren bezig met een
economische oorlogsvoering tegen Venezuela, waarbij o.a. de VS
winkelketens voor levensmiddelen al een aantal jaren geleden onder druk
werden gezet door de Obama administratie hun winkels en magazijnen in Venezuela niet langer te
bevoorraden……
Deze
smerige ‘tactiek’ heeft deels gewerkt, de middenstand en de hogere
klasse gooiden de kont tegen de krib en met uiterst gewelddadige
demonstraties probeerde men Maduro tot aftreden te dwingen en zoals
we weten is dit niet gelukt. Men gaf de regering Maduro de schuld van dat geweld, echter uit beelden bleek dat veel demonstranten gewapend waren en op de politie schoten, naar verluid ging het hier om door de VS aangevoerde terroristen…..
Bolton
heeft Venezuela, Cuba* en Nicaragua aangewezen als as van het kwaad in
Latijns-Amerika en heeft gesteld dat de VS daar wil ingrijpen, ofwel er staan weer nieuwe illegale oorlogen van de VS op stapel….. De NAVO heeft in opdracht van haar
bevelhebber, de VS Columbia toegelaten als lid van deze ‘Noord
Atlantische Verdragsorganisatie…..’ (ha! ha! ha! ha!) Intussen schijnt terreurorganisatie NAVO twee
militaire bases te hebben in dat land, dicht op de grens met o.a. Venezuela…….
Voorts
heeft de VS landen als Brazilië in de zak (dat overigens onder
fascist Bolsonaro nauw samenwerkt met terreurstaat Israël). Guyana (eerder Brits-Guiana genoemd) een ander buurland van Venezuela, wordt zoals de voormalige naam al zegt in feite door
Groot-Brittannië gecontroleerd en bestuurd, GB ook al geen vriend van Venezuela, om
het maar zachtjes uit te drukken…….. En dan beste bezoeker is daar…
Nederland dat een dikke vinger in de Antilliaanse pap heeft, waar de
Nederlandse marine in het gebied van de Antilliaanse eilanden (relatief dicht op Venezuela) nauw samenwerkt met de VS, zogenaamd alleen tegen
drugssmokkelaars, echter je hoeft geen universitaire graad te hebben
om te begrijpen dat deze samenwerking veel verder gaat dan het
tegengaan van drugssmokkel…..
Na 13.00 u. vanmiddag kwam WDR nog eens met een aantal leugens over Maduro, dit n.a.v. de inauguratie van Maduro voor zijn tweede termijn als president. Zo werd gesteld dat het grootste deel van de Venezolaanse bevolking tegen Maduro is, dit is een grove leugen, de meerderheid staat wel degelijk achter Maduro, t.w. de grote onderlaag van die bevolking……. Uiteraard werd weer gesteld dat Maduro een desastreus economisch beleid voert, met geen woord werd over de economische oorlog van de VS tegen dat land gesproken, waardoor bijvoorbeeld zelfs medicijnen moeilijk of niet te krijgen zijn, het blokkeren van dergelijke importen is zonder meer een ernstige oorlogsmisdaad……

Dino Bouterse werd in 2013 ondanks zijn diplomatieke paspoort in Panama (dat onder controle van de VS staat) gearresteerd (!!) en uitgeleverd aan de VS waar hij werd veroordeeld tot 16 jaar cel……
The
Terrible Forthcoming Destruction of the “Caribbean Basin”
President
Trump has announced the withdrawal of US combat troops from the «
Greater Middle East », but the Pentagon is still pursuing the
implementation of the Rumsfeld-Cebrowski plan. This time the aim is
to destroy the States of the “Caribbean Basin “. This is
nothing like the overthrow of pro-Soviet regimes, as in the 1970’s,
but the destruction of all regional State structures, without
consideration for friends or political enemies. Thierry Meyssan

Clearing House” – In a
series of previous articles, we presented the SouthCom plan to
provoke wars between the Latin-American nations in order to destroy
the structures of all the States in the « Caribbean Basin » [1].
Preparations
for wars of this magnitude, intended to follow on from the conflicts
in the « Greater Middle East » according to the Rumsfeld-Cebrowski
strategy, requires a decade [2].
After
the period of economic destabilisation [3]
and that of military preparation, the actual operation should begin
in the years to come by an attack on Venezuela by Brazil (supported
by Israël), Colombia (an ally of the United States) and Guyana (in
other words, the United Kingdom). It will be followed by others,
beginning with Cuba and Nicaragua (the « troïka of tyranny »
according to John Bolton).
However,
the original plan may be modified, particularly because of the return
of the imperial ambitions of the United Kingdom [4]
which may influence the Pentagon.
This
is where we are now :
The
evolution of Venezuela
Venezuelan
President Hugo Chávez had developed relations with the « Greater
Middle East » on an ideological basis. He had in particular grown
closer to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President
Bachar el-Assad. Together, they had imagined the possibility of
founding an intergovernmental organisation, the « Free Allies
Movement », on the model of the « Non-Aligned Movement », which
was paralysed by the alignment with the United States, over time, of
certain of its members [5].
Although
Nicolas Maduro adopted the same language as Hugo Chávez, he chose a
very different foreign policy. It is true that he continued the
rapprochement with Russia and, in his turn welcomed Russian bombers
to Venezuela. He signed a contract to import 600,000 tonnes of wheat
in order to deal with starvation in his country. Above all, he
prepared to receive six billion dollars of investments, including
five in the oil sector. Russian engineers took over the posts which
were intended for Venezuelan workers but which they had abandoned.
Nicolas
Maduro reorganised the alliances of his country on new foundations.
He wove close links with Turkey, which is a member of NATO and whose
army presently occupies Northern Syria. Maduro went to Istanbul on
four occasions and Erdoğan went once to Caracas.
Switzerland
was an ally of Hugo Chávez, and had advised him for the composition
of his Constitution. Fearing that he would be unable to refine his
country’s gold in Switzerland, Nicolas Maduro looked to Turkey,
which transformed the raw material into bullion. In the past, this
gold had remained in Swiss banks as a guarantee for oil contracts.
From now on, the liquid assets were transferred to Turkey, while the
newly treated gold returned to Venezuela. This orientation may be
interpreted as being no longer founded on ideology, but on interest.
Everything depends on who benefits.
Simultaneously,
Venezuela became the target of a destabilisation campaign which began
with the guarimbas demonstrations, continued with
the attempted coup d’etat on 12 February 2015 (« Operation Jericho
»), then by a series of attacks on the national currency, and
organised emigration. In this context, Turkey offered Venezuela the
possibility of avoiding US sanctions. The exchanges between the two
countries multiplied fifteen-fold in 2018.
Whatever
the evolution of the Venezuelan régime, nothing can justify what is
being prepared against its population.
Coordination
of logistical means
From
31 July to 12 August 2017, SouthCom organise a vast exercise with
more than 3,000 men from 25 allied states, including France and the
United Kingdom. The goal was to prepare a swift landing for troops in
Venezuela [6].
Colombia
Colombia
is a state, but not a nation. Its population lives geographically
separate according to social class, with enormous differences in the
quality of life. Almost no Colombian has ever spent time in a
neighbourhood attributed to another social class than their own. This
strict separation has made possible the multiplication of
paramilitary forces and consequently armed interior conflicts which
have caused more than 220,000 victims in thirty years.
In
power since August 2018, President Iván Duque has challenged the
fragile peace concluded with the FARC by his predecessor, Juan Manuel
Santos – but not with the ELN. He has not dismissed the option of a
military intervention against Venezuela. According to Nicolas Maduro,
the United States are currently training 734 mercenaries in a
training camp situated in Tona with a view to carrying out a false
flag operation intended to spark a war with Venezuela. Taking into
account the sociological particularity of Colombia, it is impossible
to determine with certainty whether or not the training camp is
controlled by Bogota.
Guyana
In
the 19th century, the colonial powers agreed to a frontier between
British Guyana (presently Guyana) and Dutch Guyana (presently
Surinam). but no text has ever defined the frontier between the
British zone and the Spanish zone (presently Venezuela).
Consequently, Guyana administrates 160,000 km2 of forest which is
still a source of dispute with its larger neighbour. By virtue of the
Geneva agreement of 17 February 1966, the two states deferred to the
Secretary General of the UNO (at that time the Burmese U Thant).
Nothing has changed since then – Guyana has proposed to bring the
case before the UNO** Permanent Court of Arbitration, while Venezuela
prefers direct negotiations.
This
territorial dispute does not seem particularly urgent, because the
contested area is an uninhabited forest which was believed to be
without value – however, it is a huge area which represents two
thirds of Guyana. The Geneva agreement has been violated 15 times by
Guyana, which specifically authorised the exploitation of a gold
mine. Above all, the stakes were raised in 2015 with the discovery by
ExxonMobil of oil deposits in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly in the
territorial waters of the contested zone.
The
population of Guyana is composed of 40 % Indians, 30 % Africans, 20 %
mixed race and 10 % American Indians. The Indians are a strong
presence in the civil services and the Africans in the army.
On
21 December, a vote of no confidence was lodged against the
government of President David Granger, a pro-British, anti-Venezuelan
General, in power since 2015. To everyone’s surprise, a deputy,
Charrandas Persaud, voted against his own party, and in an atmosphere
of indescribable chaos, provoked the fall of the government which had
only a one-vote majority. Since then, the country is in a state of
great instability – we do not know whether President Granger, who is
presently undergoing chemotherapy, will be able to handle current
affairs, while Charrandas Persaud left Parliament with an escort, via
a back door, and has fled to Canada.
On
22 December 2018, in the absence of a government, the Ramform
Tethys (under the flag of the Bahamas) and the Delta
Monarch (Trinidad and Tobago) undertook submarine
explorations in the contested zone on behalf of Exxon-Mobil.
Considering that this intrusion violated the Geneva agreement, the
Venezuelan army chased the two ships away. The Guyanese Minister for
Foreign Affairs, working with current affairs, declared it a hostile
act.
The
United Kingdom Minister for Defense, Gavin Williamson, declared to
the Sunday
Telegraph on
30 December 2018 that the Crown was putting an end to decolonisation,
which had been Whitehall’s doctrine since the Suez affair in 1956.
London is preparing to open a new military base in the Caribbean (for
the moment the UK has bases only in Gibraltar, Cyprus, Diego Garcia
and on the Falkland islands). The new base could be situated on
Montserrat (West Indies), or more probably in Guyana, and should be
operational in 2022 [7].
Guyana
is a neighbour of Surinam (Dutch Guyana). Its President, Desi
Bouterse, is wanted in Europe for drug trafficking – an affair
which pre-dated his election. But his son, Dino, was arrested in
Panama in 2013, despite the fact that he entered that country under a
diplomatic passport. He was extradited to the United States where he
was sentenced to 16 years of prison for drug trafficking – in reality
because he was setting up the Lebanese Hezbollah in Surinam.

Brazil
In
May 2016, Henrique Meirelles, the Minister of Finance for the
transitional government of Libano-Brazilian Michel Temer, nominated
Israelo-Brazilian Ilan Goldfajn as director of the Central Bank.
Mereilles had also presided the Committee for the preparation of the
Olympic Games, calling on Tsahal to coordinate the Brazilian army and
police, thus guaranteeing the security of the Games. Simultaneously
controlling the Central Bank, the army and the police of Brazil,
Israël had no difficulty in supporting the popular movement of
dissatisfaction in the face of the incompetence of the Workers’
Party.
Believing
– without any solid proof – that Presidente Dilma Rousseff had fudged
the public accounts in the context of the Petrobras scandal, the
parliamentarians impeached her in August 2016.
During
the Presidential election of 2018, candidate Jair Bolsonaro went to
Israël to be baptised in the waters of the Jordan, and consequently
obtained a massive percentage of the evangelical vote. He was elected
with General Hamilton Mourão as his Vice-President. During the
period of transition, Mourão declared that Brazil should prepare to
send men to Venezuela as a « peace force » once President Maduro
had been overthrown – comments which constitute a barely-disguised
threat which President Bolsonaro attempted to downplay.
In
an interview on 3 January 2019, on the TV channel SBT, President
Bolsonaro spoke of negotiations with the Pentagon concerning the
possibility of creating a US military base in Brazil. This
declaration raised powerful opposition within the armed forces, for
whom their country is capable of defending itself without assistance.

During
his investiture on 2 January 2019, the new President welcomed Israëli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was the first time that an
Israëli personality of this importance had been to Brazil. On this
occasion, President Bolsonaro announced the coming transfer of the
Brazilian embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem.
US
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who also went to the investiture,
where he met Peruvian Minister for Foreign Affairs Néstor Popolizio,
announced with President Bolsonaro his intention to fight with him
against the « authoritarian régimes » of Venezuela and Cuba.
Returning to the United States, he stopped over in Bogota to meet
with Colombian President Iván Duque. The two men agreed to work for
the diplomatic isolation of Venezuela. On 4 January 2019, the 14
States of the Lima Group (including Brazil, Colombia and Guyana) met
to agree that Nicolas Maduro’s new mandate, which begins on 10
January, is « illegitimate » [8].
This communiqué has not been signed by Mexico. Apart from this, six
of the member-States lodged a complaint with the International
Criminal Tribunal*** against President Nicolas Maduro for crimes against
humanity. It
is perfectly clear today that the process towards war is under way.
Enormous forces are in play, and there is little that can be done to
stop them now. It is in this context that Russia is studying the
possibility of setting up a permanent aero-naval base in Venezuela.
The island of La Orchila – where President Hugo Chávez was held
prisoner during the coup d’etat of April 2002 – would enable the
storing of strategic bombers. This would constitute a much greater
threat to the United States than the Soviet missiles stationed in
Cuba in 1962.

Dat
republikeinen in de VS veelal knettergek zijn is bekend (hetzelfde geldt voor veel democratische politici), maar de absurditeit van onzin argumenten doen mij regelmatig de haren te
berge rijzen….. Zoals een anti-BDS wet die vandaag in de senaat ter stemming komt en die dreigt aangenomen
te worden (ook daar een aantal democraten er achter staan)……. Het wetsvoorstel ingediend door opperschoft Rubio wordt ‘Combating BDS Act of 2019′ genoemd, deze wordt ook aangeduid als ‘S1’.
BDS is een organisatie die volkomen terecht pleit voor een boycot van de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël, dit vanwege de barbaarse omgang met de Palestijnen, een omgang die o.a. bestaat uit massamoord op ongewapende demonstranten en het opsluiten van 1,8 miljoen Palestijnen in de Gazastrook; zo meer daarover.
Bernie
Sanders spoog vuur over deze wet en zette de republikeinen te kakken,
republikeinen die achter het belachelijke plan van Trump staan een
muur tussen Mexico en de VS te bouwen en die het prima vinden dat
Trump een groot deel van de VS overheid op slot heeft gedaan…..
Sanders stelt terecht dat het van het allergrootste belang is, uit
die ‘shutdown crisis’ te komen, voordat wat voor wet dan ook wordt
aangenomen, immers een enorm aantal (gezinnen van) overheidsdienaren
zit zonder inkomen…….
Daar
komt voor Sanders bij dat hij het (alweer terecht) schunnig vindt dat
de overheid aanzet tot het inperken van de vrijheid van meningsuiting
en het recht van VS burgers zich met politiek te bemoeien…… Er zijn nu al staten die bedrijven geen overheidsopdrachten meer geven, daar de leiding kritiek heeft op Israël vanwege die omgang met Palestijnen….. Het kan nog gekker beste bezoeker, mensen die geen sociale bijstand krijgen, daar ze in het verleden kritiek hebben geleverd op het meer dan bewezen moorddadige optreden van Israël…… Of wat dacht je van werknemers die worden ontslagen vanwege dezelfde reden……..
Alsof
het om gelijke rechten gaat als je het hebt over bazen en werknemers, of kleine bedrijven en de overheid,
stelde Rubio dat het omgekeerd belachelijk is dat deze werkgevers en
overheid geen recht van spreken hebben en van andere bedrijven of van
hun werknemers te verwachten zich niet tegen Israël uit te spreken,
laat staan mee te doen aan de boycot tegen Israël, die o.a. door BDS wordt bepleit…….. Terwijl dat uiteraard
je reinste kul is, het gaat hier immers niet over Luxemburg of een
ander land waar de rechten van mensen worden geëerbiedigd, maar over
de nu fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël dat alleen al dit jaar tijdens de
Palestijnse protesten genaamd de Great Return March, intussen al meer
dan 250 ongewapende mensen heeft vermoord (waaronder kinderen, invaliden, medisch hulpverleners en journalisten….)…. Het Israëlische leger doet dat niet op Israëlische bodem,
maar schiet over de grens op ongewapende Palestijnen in het getto Gazastrook, een getto als dat van Warschau tijdens
WOII…….
En dan
durven zionistisch Joodse organisaties, als ook de Israëlische staat, te stellen dat het
antisemitisme oprukt, waarbij men vredesactivisten en mensen die zich

boycot producten uit Israël, wat eens lukte met de Zuid-Afrikaanse
apartheid kan herhaald worden, er dient zo snel mogelijk een eind te

(MEE) — A US Senate measure encouraging states and local governments to “divest” from companies that boycott Israel has stirred controversy in Washington, with civil rights groups rallying against the proposal and Senator Bernie Sanders slamming it as “absurd”.
The
measure, presented in a wider Middle East foreign policy bill, was
introduced last week amidst a partial shutdown of the federal
government, which was caused by a political impasse over funding
between Democrats and President Donald Trump’s Republican Party.
“It’s
absurd that the first bill during the shutdown is legislation which
punishes Americans who exercise their constitutional right to engage
in political activity,” Sanders wrote on Twitter on Monday.
“Democrats
must block consideration of any bills that don’t reopen the
government. Let’s get our priorities right.”
Newly
elected Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib also criticised the proposal,
which the Senate may vote on as early as Tuesday, urging politicians
to remember that the US Constitution guarantees free speech.
“They
forgot what country they represent. This is the US. where boycotting
is a right & part of our historical fight for freedom &
equality,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Maybe
a refresher on our U.S.. Constitution is in order, then get back to
opening up our government instead of taking our rights away.”
The
statement provoked Marco Rubio, the Republican senator who introduced
the bill last week, to accuse the Palestinian-American congresswoman
of anti-Semitism.

later clarified that her comment was not aimed at Jewish-Americans,
but was about Republicans’ efforts to strip citizens of their right
to freedom of expression instead of focusing on reopening the
government.
Earlier
in the day, Rubio defended the proposal, calling Sanders’ statement
a “lie”.
He
also emphasised that his proposal is legal, despite two federal court
rulings in Kansas and Arizona last
year concluding that it is unconstitutional to force state
contractors to refrain from boycotting Israel.
‘Unconstitutional’
Dozens
of states have passed various forms of anti-BDS bills in recent
years, but several of these measures are currently being challenged
in courts across the US.
While
Rubio’s bill boosts local and state efforts against boycotting
Israel, it also extends to boycotts of “Israeli-controlled
territories”, effectively targeting boycotts of Israeli businesses
in the illegally occupied Palestinian West Bank and Syrian Golan
Heights.
The
proposal is named the “Combating BDS Act of 2019” after the
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which seeks to pressure
Israel economically and politically to end its abuses against
Palestinians.
“My
bill doesn’t punish any political activity. It protects the right
of local & state govts that decide to no longer do business with
those who boycott #Israel. So boycotting #Israel is a constitutional
right, but boycotting those participating in #BDS isn’t?” Rubio
wrote on Twitter.

The
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) responded to Rubio by
explaining that the First Amendment, which grants US citizens the
right to free speech, belongs to the people, not the government.
“States
don’t have the ‘right’ to punish individuals for participating
in political boycotts the government doesn’t agree with, which this
bill encourages them to do,” the group said on Twitter.
Rubio’s
office did not respond to MEE’s request for comment on Monday.
Later
in the day, ACLU sent a letter to the members of the Senate, calling
on them to reject the bill, “primarily due to First Amendment
concerns”.
“The
Combating BDS Act sends a clear message to Americans who engage on
issues of global importance that if they dare to disagree with their
government, they will be penalized and placed in a lesser class with
fewer opportunities,” the letter said.
“That
message makes a mockery of the constitutional principle that
Americans are free to believe as they choose.”
The
Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) also called on its
supporters to contact their elected officials and urge them to reject
the bill.
“This
unconstitutional bill violates the First Amendment rights of all
Americans to challenge the illegal and discriminatory actions of a
foreign government and goes against the principles of free speech on
which our country was founded,” CAIR government affairs director,
Robert McCaw, said in a statement.
Government
shutdown
Since
late December, about 25 percent of US federal agencies have been
closed because of the disagreement between Trump and Democrats over
the president’s demand to allocate $5bn for a border wall with
Mexico.
The
failure to reach an agreement has killed efforts to pass several
funding bills.
In
that context, Rubio’s anti-BDS measure has been criticised as a
distraction from the more consequential government shutdown, as well.
The
timing of the bill, dubbed S1, as the first order of business of the
new Senate in 2019, has even irked some politicians who are staunch
supporters of Israel.
In
a Twitter post, Senator Ben Cardin, a Democrat who introduced his own
anti-BDS bill in 2017, said Senate
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should not take up any other piece of
legislation that does not address the “crisis” of the shutdown.
The
ACLU letter also noted the concerning nature of proposing the bill at
a time when lawmakers should be trying to resolve the more pressing
issue of the shutdown.
“It
is particularly alarming that the Senate is considering this bill
amidst a partial government shutdown,” it said.
The
US Campaign for Palestinian Rights provided a sample
letter to
its supporters, calling on them to urge their senators to vote
against the proposed bill.
“I
am especially outraged that while parts of the government remain
shutdown, the Senate would consider its most urgent act to be denying
us our First Amendment rights,” the letter reads.
