Boycot Japan: dit land overweegt uit de Internationale Walvisvaartcommissie te stappen!

Japan jaagt nog steeds op walvissen, als waren het barbaren die op een afgelegen deel van de wereld wonen en geen benul hebben van wat er de laatste 50 jaar is gebeurd en wat er aan kennis is vergaard als het om walvissen gaat…… 

Niet alleen gaat Japan daarmee recht in tegen wat het overgrote deel van de wereld niet wil, het jagen op walvissen, maar nu dreigt de fascistische regering van Japan er zelfs mee geheel uit de Internationale Walvisvaartcommissie (ICW) te stappen……

Beste bezoeker je zal het misschien niet geloven, maar Japan durft te stellen dat ze uit de ICW wil stappen om de stand van de bedreigde walvissen te vergroten…….. Lachen past hier niet, anders zou je je werkelijk weer kapot lachen…….

Het blijft niet bij het voorgaande, Japan speelt nu ook de ‘culturele traditie kaart’, terwijl Japanners pas na WOII begonnen met de consumptie van walvisvlees, dit vanwege grote voedselschaarste……* Uiteraard kan je hier niet spreken van een culturele traditie.

Natuurlijk komt Japan nog steeds met de overduidelijke leugen dat het vangen van walvissen gebeurt vanwege wetenschappelijk onderzoek…….

Intussen weet Japan niet waar het naar toe moet met het walvisvlees, daar steeds minder Japanners dit vlees willen eten. Vandaar dat men walvisvlees ook in de kantines van scholen serveert…… De vrieshuizen in Japan liggen afgeladen met walvisvlees…..

Het is dan ook duidelijk dat de lobby van de schoften in de walvisvaart uitermate sterk is in Japan.

De allerhoogste tijd voor het boycotten van alle Japanse producten, een zaak waar ook de EU aan mee zou moeten doen, maar zoals je waarschijnlijk al begrepen had, dit zal niet gebeuren, daar men in de EU, nog sterker dan in Nederland, vasthoudt aan handelsbelangen en zelfs mensenrechtenschendingen geen reden vindt om landen te boycotten en verdere sancties op te leggen…..

Begin zelf met de boycot en zegt het voort! (er zijn overigens niet veel producten die nog in Japan worden geproduceerd, uitzondering zijn bloemen- en groentezaden, plus nog een aantal elektronische producten [waar bijvoorbeeld de meeste tv’s al lang niet meer in eigen land worden geproduceerd], dure auto’s en motoren, waar de laatste 2 ook in andere landen worden gefabriceerd)

Japan moet stoppen met het barbaarse afslachten van deze intelligente dieren, zolang dit niet gebeurd moet Japan worden geboycot!

* Het lijkt gvd wel het achterlijke excuus van de volwassen kleuters die zwarte piet koste wat kost willen bewaren, ook zij schermen met een cultureel traditioneel gebruik, terwijl sinterklaas pas vanaf de helft van de 50er jaren in de vorige eeuw groot werd gevierd in Nederland…….

Orca’s nemen actie op leegvissen van de oceanen: vissers verliezen hun buit

In
de buurt van Alaska worden groepen orca’s waargenomen die dagenlang
vissersschepoen volgen, om de netten kapot te maken op het moment dat
men de (veel te grote) hoeveelheid vis aan boord wil hijsen…..

De
orca’s zijn niet te foppen, bijvoorbeeld door de scheepsmoteren urenlang uit
te schakelen. Ook het maken van extreme harde geluiden, die walvissen zouden moeten afschrikken, helpt niet.

Jammer
dat de schrijver van dit artikel op Mother Nature Network (MNN),
Christian Cotroneo stelt dat e.e.a. niet ligt aan het leegvissen van de
oceanen door westerse en Aziatische visfabrieken, die 24/7, 365 dagen
per jaar hun moorddadige werk verrichten (bunkeren gebeurt veelal op zee en de ingevroren vracht wordt daar door andere schepen afgevoerd)…… Natuurlijk is dit wel het geval zoals zoveel rapporten laten zien, tel daar nog eens bij op dat veel kraamkamers in de oceanen, zoals die bij koraalriffen, doodgaan en verdwijnen door de opwarming van de aarde…… 

Overigens zouden orca’s deze manier van voedsel bemachtigen hebben afgekeken van potvissen die dit al decennia lang zouden doen.


Het zou me niet verbazen als orca’s, zoals andere walvisachtigen zeer intelligente dieren, doorhebben dat de mens de schuld is
voor het leegvissen van de wereldzeeën…….

Fishing
boats are coming under attack by an unlikely band of marauders bent
on stealing their cargo.

Killer
whales have reportedly been
zeroing in on boats from the Gulf of Alaska to Aleutian Island to the
Bering Sea — sometimes trailing them for days on end.

And
when those nets are teeming with the day’s catch, they make their
move, sawing through twine and feasting on the cargo.

In
a letter to North Pacific Fisheries Management Council, fisherman
Robert Hanson described a particularly precarious encounter,
as reported
in the Alaska Dispatch News.

The
seasoned captain noted that he lost spent 4,000 gallons of gas trying
to outrun a pod of whales last month — even drifting silently for
18 hours — before losing 12,000 pounds to his net-gnawing pursuers.

And
the whales, which can grow up to 11 tons and race at speeds of 30
miles per hour, don’t respond to noisemakers either. In fact, the
electronic horns designed to disperse them have become siren calls …
for supper.

“It
became a dinner bell,” fishing boat operator Paul Clampitt told
the National Post.

Killer
whales, famed for their complex and patient hunting techniques,
follow the beleaguered boats, encircling and harassing the vessel,
much like a “motorcycle gang,” fisherman John McHenry told
the newspaper.

“You’d
see two of them show up, and that’s the end of the trip. Pretty
soon all 40 of them would be around you,” he said.

The
shakedowns have taken a heavy toll on the Alaskan fishing industry,
with a University
of Alaska study suggesting that
commercial anglers lose as much as $1,000 per day to the pirating
pods.

So
what’s driving whales to a life of plunder and pillage? It’s
possible they were inspired by sperm whales — behemoths that have
been vexing
fishing boats for decades.

The
biggest factor, however, may not be a dearth of fish in the ocean,
but rather an abundance of intelligence on the whale’s part.

Quite
simply, they’re studying patterns in their environment.

As
John Moran, a biologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) explained to the Alaska Dispatch News, they’re
adapting — and getting richly rewarded for it.

The
orcas, he noted, distinguish between types of boats, even recognizing
the drone of a hydraulic system, as it lowers nets into the water.

Who
can resist the temptation for a little fast food? Especially when
it’s being dangled, literally, in front of their noses.

PS: als de mens doorgaat met het op dit enorme tempo leegvissen van de wereldzeeën, is het niet onwaarschijnlijk dat de orca in de toekomst de mens ook als voedselbron zal gaan zien……. ‘Uiteraard’ zal men dan jacht gaan maken op orca’s……… Zoals je kon lezen berekenen de vissers in het gebied waar deze orca’s ‘jacht maken’ op hun buit, al wat ze dagelijks kwijt zijn door deze manier van jagen, ook dat zou wel eens tot een openlijke en wellicht een hernieuwde ‘legale jacht’ op deze geweldige dieren kunnen leiden……… (wat bij wijze van spreken ‘god verhoede’, of beter gezegd: ‘moeder aarde verhoede’)

Stop de barbaarse Japanse slachting van walvissen >> boycot Japan!

Gisteren ontving ik een petitie van Alex B., lid van het Care2 Petiton Team, een petitie tegen de komende slachting die Japan wil uitvoeren op walvissen, e.e.a. ook naar aanleiding van World Oceans Week (WOW), die dit jaar van 4 tot 12 juni duurt.

Japan voert deze jaarlijkse slachting uit onder het mom van wetenschappelijk onderzoek, terwijl dit wetenschappelijk bewezen kul is, voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek op walvissen hoef je deze mooie en intelligente dieren niet te vermoorden……

Vorig jaar vermoordde Japan maar liefst 120 zwangere Antarctische dwergvinvissen, van de in totaal 333 vermoordde dwergvinvissen…….. Van de honderden walvissen die Japan vorig jaar vermoordde, waren er meer dan 180 van het vrouwelijk geslacht en 70% van hen was zwanger….. (het is maar zeer de vraag of deze cijfers kloppen, immers ze worden aangevoerd door Japan…)

Sea Shepherd, de organisatie die zich jarenlang actief verzette tegen de Japanse slachtingen, heeft vorig jaar de handdoek in de ring gegooid, daar de Japanse walvisvloot met militaire zaken de boel zo had versterkt en beveiligd dat Sea Shepherd niets meer kan uitrichten.

Die aanpassingen zijn door de Japanse overheid gesubsidieerd, zoals ook de hele walvisjacht wordt gesubsidieerd door de Japanse overheid. De consumptie van walvisvlees is sterk teruggelopen in Japan, waardoor de diepvriespakhuizen voor walvisvlees volkomen uit hun voegen barsten……..

De hoogste tijd dat de Japanse regering internationaal aan de paal wordt genageld voor de barbarij……

for World Oceans Week: Stop the Summer Whale Slaughter

Last
year, the government of Japan harpooned 333 Antarctic minke whales to
death. 120
of these whales were expecting mothers.


It
wasn’t the first time this slaughter has occurred, and if we don’t
act now, it certainly will not be the last.


The
Japanese government conducts this annual whale hunt every summer in
the name of scientific research. But non-lethal surveys have been
shown to be just as effective for “biological sampling.” In
reality, many of the whales are ending up at the dinner table.


This
week is World Ocean’s Week and the summer hunt is just around the
corner. There will be no better time to raise your voice for these
whales.


Japan
plans to slaughter at least 4,000 whales over the next decade. But
according to a 2014 ruling by the International Court of Justice,
Japan is breaking the law by continuing their Antarctic whaling
program. 


We
must continue to shine a light on Japan’s horrific, criminal hunt.

Imagine
this, you are out in the ocean, swimming along with your friends and
family. The sky is blue, the water is the perfect temperature. Life
couldn’t be better. Then
all of a sudden a grenade-tipped harpoon plows into your chest.. It
explodes. Your friends look on in horror as you are dragged to your
death by a whaling ship. 

This
is what happens hundreds of times a year all thanks to the horrific
Japanese whaling industry. The
country is one of only a handful of nations that continues to harvest
the cetaceans. Officials defend the practice in the name of science.
They say the whales are harvested in order to conduct “biological
sampling.” However, according to many experts, non-lethal
surveys have been shown to be just as fruitful. 

Science
though is only an excuse, in reality, the 333 minke Antarctic whales
that were killed last
year likely ended up at the dinner table. 

Of
the hundreds of whales that were taken in 2017 more than 180 of those
were female and of those, nearly 70% were pregnant making the hunt
even more tragic. 

If
the world cannot convince Japan to abandon its whaling program the
bloodshed will continue since the country says they intend to kill at
least 4000 whales over the next decade. 

According
to a 2014 ruling by the International Court of Justice, Japan is
breaking the law by continuing their Antarctic whaling
program. Countries
like Australia and animal rights organizations around the world have
urged Japan to stop to no avail. But we can’t give up. Each and every
one of our signatures let Japan know that we are against this
horrible practice. Together, by speaking up, we can send a strong
message.

Dolfijn gestorven na inslikken van in totaal 80 plastic zakken…….

WDR meldde afgelopen zaterdag in het nieuws van 17.00  u. dat in Thailand een grote dolfijn is overleden doordat deze in de loop van tijd maar liefst 80 plastic zakken had opgegeten…….

Men heeft nog een poging gedaan deze walvisachtige te redden, maar helaas…….

Alweer een waanzinnige prestatie van de enorme plaag die de aarde teistert, de mens……..

PS: hoor zojuist op WDR 5 dat plastic rietjes in de toekomst voor minstens 75% uit recyclebaar plastic moeten bestaan……. Een totaal onzinnig idee, daar recyclebaar plastic, om af te kunnen breken in de natuur, minstens een paar dagen op een temperatuur van 65 graden Celsius moet worden gehouden……. Het moet toch mogelijk zijn om van bijvoorbeeld karton een rietje te maken, dat minstens een paar uur stabiel blijft? Of wat dacht je van pakjes frisdrank waar eenvoudig uit kan worden gedronken zonder dat je een rietje nodig hebt? Overigens reken maar dat die ‘recyclebare rietjes’ straks nog steeds in plastic op de pakjes frisdrank worden geplakt, deze plasticverpakking vindt je zeker in stedelijk gebied overal terug op straat en in de bermen van doorgaande wegen en fietspaden (deze verpakkingen zijn zo klein dat ze nauwelijks opvallen…..)….

Visolie: de mensparasiet >> nu ook krill voor walvissen en pinguïns in voedsel voor de mens…….

De
mens vist de oceanen meer en meer leeg en verziekt het leefklimaat
voor de dieren daarin, niet alleen middels de door de mens
veroorzaakte klimaatverandering, of de enorme plastic vervuiling,
dumpen van chemisch afval (zoals zwaar vervuild water van fracken in de VS), maar ook middels vervuiling door olieboringen, het vergaan van
schepen, de vervuiling door clandestien geloosde olie, gif en
vuilnis dat van schepen in zee wordt gedonderd…… (en er zijn nog meer voorbeelden te noemen, zoals lozingen van riolen…)

Alsof
dit alles niet genoeg is om schijtziek van te worden, hebben een aantal schoften bedacht om krill te verwerken in voedingsolie voor de
mens, terwijl walvissen en pinguïns afhankelijk zijn van deze
minuscuul kleine zeedieren…… Niet dat de mens deze nodig heeft,
er zijn meer dan voldoende alternatieven te vinden voor omega 3, waarvan ‘de gezonde werking’ trouwens zwaar ter discussie
staat……. 

Het Britse levensmiddelenketen Holland &
Barrett heeft de varianten voor de olie van krill NB naast de
alternatieven staan, alternatieven die niet ten koste gaan van andere levensvormen op onze kleine aarde………

Het
spul vindt gretig aftrek, dus reken maar dat binnenkort ook de
Nederlandse kruideniersketens deze olie gaat verkopen (wellicht staan deze daar al, geen idee)…… In de
Noordelijke Atlantische oceaan is de krill al op haar retour, dit
door menselijk handelen (o.a. de opwarming van de aarde)…..

Nogmaals:
de mens is ziek, doodziek en sleept alles en ieder dier mee de
afgrond in…….

Stop het gebruik van visolie of krillolie, of andere producten met omega 3, er zijn alternatieven te over!

the Antarctic, all life, from the giant blue whale to a newborn
penguin, depend on one tiny creature: krill. These
quirky, shrimp-like crustaceans are one of the Antarctic’s most

spent a lot of time and money promoting themselves as a healthy and
planet-loving company. But by selling krill products sourced from
delicate parts of the Antarctic, Holland & Barrett are
undermining their reputation as an environmentally friendly
brand.

Our
recent report reveals that the krill industry is already fishing
right next to penguin colonies and whale feeding grounds – the same
areas scientists and governments say we need to protect [1].
Animals in the Antarctic are already facing pressures from a changing
climate. The last thing they need is additional strains on their food
supply.

Holland
& Barrett can influence their suppliers to stop fishing in areas
that need to be protected. With their help, the krill industry will
hear loud and clear that the Antarctic waters are ours to protect –

bottom line is: no retailers should be selling products which could
jeopardise an entire ecosystem. By
using their direct links with the krill fishing industry, Holland &
Barrett can help protect this fragile place.

When
it comes to our oceans, we know we can make a difference. Thousands
of people like you took action against the biggest canned tuna
company in the world, and together we pushed them to end their
destructive fishing practices. This was a game-changer for our oceans
and is exactly what we need to do again. Will
you help make sure Holland & Barrett play their part to protect
the Antarctic?

In aanloop naar Wereld Walvis Dag op 18 februari a.s. bracht Animal Petitions gisteren een verhaal over de jacht op deze wonderlijke, slimme en mooie dieren. Aan de hand heeft deze organisatie een aantal vragen voor haar leden.

Wat betreft het gebruik van walvissen, waren een paar zaken voor mij een ontdekking. Zo worden walvissen o.a. gebruikt in cosmetica, biodiesel en golfballen!! 

Zoals je ongetwijfeld weet, is Japan één van de landen, die nog steeds de barbaarse en uiterst gewelddadige walvisjacht blijft uitvoert……… Wat ik dan weer niet wist is het feit dat Japan jaarlijks ook een groot aantal zwangere walvissen vangt en vermoord……..

Walvisvlees is (goddank) erg ongezond, bevat onder meer PCB’s, kwik, DDT en landbouwgif en wordt zelfs door restaurants in de VS en Canada geïmporteerd……. Overigens kunnen de Nederlandse oranjedwazen die voor de Olympische Spelen in Zuid-Korea zijn, ook daar walviskadaver eten……..

De smerige moord op walvissen moet nu eindelijk eens helemaal verboden worden, laten we de landen die walvissen jagen boycotten, om te beginnen Japan! Made in Japan? Niet kopen!

Series: It’s 2018 and Countries are Still Killing Whales

Japan
recently set out on their annual whaling mission to kill hundreds of
minke whales in the name of scientific research. On these excursions,
whales are shot with a grenade harpoon that is connected to a moving
ship, causing them to die a slow and painful death.

In
2016, 200 of the minke whales killed by Japan were pregnant due to
the fact that they perform these hunts during the whales’ breeding
season. Japan is only one of three countries that continues hunting
whales after a moratorium on commercial whaling was put in place by
the International Whaling Commission (IWC). The IWC was set up in
1946 to protect whales from extinction and to regulate the commercial
whaling industry. They set catch limits for certain areas and
species, designate areas as whale sanctuaries, protect mother whales
and their calves, and control the types of methods used when hunting
is allowed.

In
1986, the IWC, after observing a steep decline of whale populations
due to hunting, created a moratorium for commercial whaling
dramatically decreasing the number of whales killed every year.
Norway, Iceland and Japan have all sought out workarounds in order to
continue their own personal whaling industries. Whaling is extremely
detrimental to whale populations due to long reproduction cycles, and
Japan’s hunting season aligning with breeding season makes that
even harder. Japan uses the scientific research loophole to allow
them to kill hundreds of whales every year, claiming that their
mission is to perform “research for the purpose of studying the
ecological system in the Antarctic Sea”. Norway and Iceland both
whale under an objection to the moratorium, and they self regulate
their own quotas.

The
international community is not blind to Japan’s abuse of the
loophole and has been meeting to solve this problem. The European
Union, along with Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica,
the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Panama, Peru and
Uruguay have all come out against Japan’s abuse of the system,
pointing out that these hunts are not based on science and provide no
new scientific value. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has
agreed that they are merely hunting whales for their meat. In 2015,
the ICJ’s ruling prevented Japan from slaughtering whales during
that year’s hunt, and their crews were only able to take skin
samples and head counts of the whales, but by the next year, they
were back at it killing over 300 whales.

Whaling
is not only unsustainable and cruel, but their meat is also extremely
unhealthy and can be dangerous when consumed. Top predators such as
large mammals like whales accumulate large amounts of heavy metals
and organochlorines of the smaller fish they feed on. These toxins
bond easily with fat, making the high blubber content of whales the
perfect storage place for them. Metals like mercury and
organochlorines such as polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB’s) and
dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT’s) are the most dangerous of
the toxins found in whales, and they can cause major health problems
in humans when consumed in higher quantities. PCB’s have shown to
cause nerve damage, reproductive and developmental disorders, immune
system suppression, liver damage, and endocrine disruption. DDT
exposure has shown to cause certain types of cancer, as well as
neurological and reproductive disorders. Mercury consumption can also
cause neurological and developmental problems.

The
most contaminated meat comes from fish or mammal eaters such as
dolphins, sperm whales, and beaked whales. Minke whales are known to
feed lower on the food chain, making them safer to consumer, but they
still contain unsafe levels of PCB’s and pesticides. Even worse for
those consuming whale, studies have found that dolphin or beaked
whale meat is often sold under the name of “kujira”, claiming to
be minke meat.

Japan,
Norway, Iceland and Canada are the biggest consumers of whale meat,
with Japan serving it in schools and hospitals to encourage the
practice. But, the whale meat industry as a whole has been on the
decline in recent years. It is no longer a sustainable business
unless heavily subsidized by their governments. A large portion of
the meat is being frozen and stockpiled, while some of it is actually
making its way into US and South Korean restaurants. In Denmark, it
is suspected to be found in farm animal food. But it isn’t just the
food industry that is supporting this business. The health and beauty
industry is also a big supporter, with whale products turning up in
cosmetics and health supplements. Norway and Japan continue to invest
into research for the potential of utilizing whale oil for
pharmaceutical products, nutritional supplements such as fish oil,
and to feed farmed fish and livestock. 

There are currently thousands
of patents on products containing whale, and the products range from
golf balls to eco-friendly laundry detergents to bio-diesel. The
research into these new uses has shown an increase over the last few
years, causing concern for some that the whaling industry may be on
the rise yet again.

February
18th is World Whale Day. Celebrate this year by joining in on a
fundraiser, spread the word on social media, and help bring awareness
to the fragility of our oceans and all of those giant creatures who
inhabit them. We have to educate the public on the dangers of whale
meat consumption, as well as protect these majestic creatures from
extinction. Public awareness can make a big difference in keeping the
whaling industry unsustainable. Speak up and celebrate all whales on
February 18th.

Hoorde gistermiddag op Radio1 professor Tinka Murk, hoogleraar Ecologie van Mariene Dieren, aan de Wageningen Universiteit & Research (WUR), zoals er tegenwoordig totaal overbodig achterstaat. Alsof het niet al lang duidelijk is dat de Wageningen Universiteit lobbyt en werkt voor het bedrijfsleven en de intensieve veehouderij in het bijzonder……..

Deze dame die zich godbetert professor mag noemen, kwam met een aantal zaken waren de honden geen brood van lusten, Zo stelde ze dat wanneer er teveel kwallen in zee zouden komen, die vanzelf opgeruimd worden door andere zeedieren die deze dieren eten……. Zeker niet gehoord over de plekken in de Stille Oceaan die bomvol kwallen zitten en waar geen ander leven te vinden is…….

Voorts stelde Murk dat de klimaatverandering geen punt is, daar deze continu plaatsvindt, m.a.w. het leven in zee past zich daarop aan……. Deze Mariene Dieren ‘hoogleraar’ vergat alweer even, dat bijvoorbeeld het steeds rapper verdwijnen van koraal z’n effecten heeft op veel leven in de gebieden waar deze riffen zich bevinden…… Of neem het gestaag afnemen van krill in de noordelijke ijszeeën, dit heeft directe gevolgen voor walvissen die leven van die krill en wier voortbestaan daardoor op het spel komt te staan…………. Overigens is het aantal gewervelde zeedieren de afgelopen 40 jaar met minstens 30% afgenomen, dit onder meer door overbevissing…….

Weet niet hoe vaak er een grote klimaatverandering is geweest op aarde, maar de walvissen moeten er minstens een aantal hebben overleeft, echter alles wijst erop dat de huidige klimaatverandering zorgt voor grote sterfte onder land- en zeedieren, dit vanwege het ongelofelijk snelle tempo van de huidige klimaatverandering, die dan ook sterk door de mens is veroorzaakt en wordt aangejaagd……. Zelfs oliemaatschappijen als Shell en Exxon Mobile wisten als decennia geleden, dat de klimaatverandering werd en wordt aangejaagd door het gebruik van fossiele brandstoffen en dat dit de oorzaak is van de klimaatverandering………

Murk durfde ook nog te spreken over het industrieel gebruiken van de zee voor voedsel, om zo het wereldvoedselprobleem te kunnen helpen oplossen……… Het wereldvoedselprobleem wordt mede veroorzaakt door universiteiten als de Wageningen Universiteit, dat niet anders doet dan zien of er nog meer dieren in 1 stal kunnen, i.p.v. zich toe te leggen op alternatieven voor vleeseten, immers consumptie van vlees is ongelofelijk inefficiënt, bovendien is het slecht voor het menselijk lichaam en gaat het gepaard met enorme dierenmishandeling…..

Voor één kilo vlees heb je gemiddeld 5 kilo groente nodig en een enorme plas drinkwater, zaken die nu juist het wereldvoedselprobleem vergroten en niet verkleinen…… Door de enorme vleesconsumptie worden oerwouden opgeofferd, waardoor de klimaatverandering nog sneller kan toenemen….. Wat betreft het menselijk lichaam, vleeseten is slecht voor: -het hart, -maag en darmen, -lever (en daarmee voor de hersenen), -nieren en voor ons grootste orgaan, -de huid, dit onder meer door kanker……..

De zee industrieel gebruiken? Alsof we de zee al niet veel te ver industrieel hebben leeggevist, wil Murk dat we zee-akkers aanleggen waar kreeften en krabben gevangen kunnen worden en waar na ‘de oogst’ bijvoorbeeld zand gewonnen kan worden voor kust suppletie…… Oh ja, Murk had nog wel een positief woord over voor windenergie op zee, maar daar hebben we haar niet voor nodig. Trouwens leuk ook voor die krabben en kreeften, levend gekookt worden, want zo wil de echte ‘liefhebber’ (dierenbeul) deze dieren eten….. Ach, de Wageningen Universiteit heeft nu eenmaal schijt aan dierenleed, niet voor niets dat de plofkip daar werd ontwikkeld (‘Research…’)……..

Japan vermoordde dit jaar o.a. 134 bedreigde Noordse vinvissen, stop dit barbaarse geweld!

Ontving gisteren een petitie van ForceChange tegen de zogenaamde wetenschappelijke vangst van walvissen door de barbaarse Japanse walvisvloot…….. 

Dit jaar heeft Sea Shepherd geen walvis van de dood kunnen redden, de Japanse psychopaten konden ongestoord martelen en moorden……. De Japanse schepen hebben militaire apparatuur aan boord, zodat ze de schepen van Sea Shepherd ten allen tijde kunnen volgen…… Bovendien heeft de Japanse walvisvloot er geen probleem mee, de schepen van Sea Shepherd te rammen………


Vreemd dat dit laatste, het rammen van Sea Shepherd schepen en de militarisering van de Japanse walvisvloot, niet onmiddellijk heeft geleid tot internationale politieke protesten….. Immers met die militarisering toont Japan geheel ten overvloede aan, dat de vangst van walvissen niets, maar dan ook helemaal niets met wetenschap te maken heeft……. Japan had al 10 keer internationaal aan de paal genageld moeten worden!!

Japan heeft dit jaar 200 walvissen vermoord, waar 134 van deze walvissen behoren tot de bedreigde Noordse vinvis………


Bij het lezen van de brief bij de petitie viel mij de naam Joji Morishita op, de voorzitter van de ‘International Whaling Commission’ (IWC). Ter verduidelijking: de IWC staat voor de bescherming van alle walvisachtigen. Dacht nog bij mezelf; ‘t zal toch niet een Japanner zijn, maar dat is hij wel en sterker nog, deze ploert staat achter de leugen van Japan, dat het walvissen jaagt voor wetenschappelijke doeleinden……. Deze dooddoener is volledig achterhaald, Morishita liet al eens weten dat er door Japan 666 (het getal van het beest, ofwel ‘de duivel’*) wetenschappelijke gecontroleerde documenten zijn gepubliceerd n.a.v. de massamoorden op walvissen en dat die het wetenschappelijk verhaal van het jaarlijkse barbaarse bloedbad ondersteunen….. Van die claim hebben wetenschappers gehakt gemaakt en een internationaal gerechtshof erkende uiteindelijk 2 van die documenten, die bovendien uiterst dubieus bleken te zijn….**

Lees de petitie en teken ajb, Japan zal en moet gestopt worden in haar uiterst wrede en barbaarse jacht op dieren, die qua intelligentie ook nog eens de mens benaderen…….. Geeft het door mensen!

Japan From Slaughtering Whales for ‘Research’

Japanese
vessels have returned from their annual whale hunt, having killed
nearly 200 whales as part of their stipulated ‘quota.’ Despite
the fact that whaling is banned under the International Whaling
Commission (IWC), Japan has violated this ruling for years by making
use of a legal loophole, claiming that the hunts are done in the name
of scientific research.

Of
the nearly 200 whales the Japanese whalers slaughtered off the island
of Hokkaido, 134 are endangered Sei whales. Japan’s Fisheries
Agency claims that the stomach contents will be researched “among
other things” to satisfy the requirements of the IWC’s loophole.
However, it is likely that the meat from these whales will later be
sold in markets, leading many to suspect that Japan is using the
claim of conducting scientific research as a cover for commercial
whaling.

The
current chair of the IWC has claimed that the Japanese have a right
to the consumption of whale meat as a cultural tradition, even though
whaling is a serious threat to the survival of many species,
including the Sei whale. Sign this petition to demand that the
commission put an end to this legal loophole and prevent Japan from
killing these whales in the future.

Goal: Put
an end to Japan’s annual whale hunt, conducted under the guise of

Dear
Mr. Morishita,

I
am writing to insist that your commission put an end to the annual
whale hunts conducted by Japan’s Fisheries Agency. As a part of
this year’s hunts, Japan has killed just under 200 innocent whales,
including 134 endangered Sei whales, all under the guise of
conducting scientific research. It is well known that the meat from
whales killed during these hunts is later sold, and the scientific
value of so-called ‘research whaling’ has been called into
question time and again.

Even
though there may be a cultural tradition of whale consumption in
Japan, whaling is a major threat that could drive sensitive species,
such as the Sei whale, to extinction. I urge you to put an end to the
legal loophole that currently allows Japan to conduct its whaling
expeditions as ‘scientific research’ and to no longer support the
killing of whales for human consumption.

Kreeg afgelopen vrijdag een bericht van het Care2 team, waarin de dood van alweer een orka in een bassin van SeaWorld werd gemeld…….

Volgens SeaWorld San Diego werd Kasatka geëuthanaseerd, daar ze ‘de laatste tijd’ haar eetlust was verloren en haar gezondheid te wensen overliet…… Echter mensen die de situatie van Kasatka kenden, stellen dat het dier al lange tijd ziek was, waar ze zelfs het woord ‘chronisch’ bij gebruiken……..

Walvissen horen niet in bassins, zo reizen orka’s vele duizenden kilometers tijdens hun leven, alleen dit feit zou genoeg moeten zijn, om nooit weer een walvis op te sluiten, zelfs de kleinsten niet!! Walvisachtigen worden ziek in deze bassins en dit alles om de mens te vertieren………..

Another
Suffering Orca Has Died at SeaWorld

The death
toll at
SeaWorld continues to grow with
the loss of another orca who battled chronic health issues. But it
isn’t the whale’s death that’s the real tragedy — it’s
the life she was forced to live.

SeaWorld
made the announcement that Kasatka, the park’s matriarch, was
euthanized in San Diego this week. According to SeaWorld,
her health and appetite had declined over the past several days.

Despite
treatment, the veterinary team decided to end her life to
prevent further suffering.

Sadly,
Kasatka’s death doesn’t
come as a surprise to
those who have been monitoring her over the years.

acknowledged that the orca had been battling a respiratory
infection that she was diagnosed with in 2008. but many
wildlife advocates believe her situation was far worse than the
park has admitted.

Still,
the disease that ultimately took Kasatka’s life — and
the misinformation SeaWorld
continues to spread about orcas — is only a part of the story.

While
SeaWorld called the whale the “beloved matriarch of our orca
family,” the reality is that she was stolen, confined for more
than four decades, forced to perform and bred multiple times.

Kasatka
was taken from her native waters in Iceland in 1978, and she spent
the rest of her life imprisoned. She had four children in
captivity, Takara, Nakai, Kalia and Makani; six grandchildren,
Kohana, Trua, Sakari, Kamea and Kyara; and two great grandchildren
Adan and Victoria, who have all been split up at various parks in
California, Texas, Florida and Spain.

Meanwhile,
SeaWorld conveniently fails to mention that her
granddaughter Kyara and
great granddaughter Victoria are
both dead too — neither of them even reached their first
birthdays.

Had
Kasatka been left in the wild, she would only be middle-aged now
and may have enjoyed life as a true matriarch, nurturing lifelong
bonds with her family members. But, sadly, she was denied that
opportunity.

In
addition to suffering from health problems, Kasatka also
displayed the emotional toll confinement took on her. Unsurprisingly,
she was involved in multiple aggressive
incidents with
trainer Ken Peters, who is lucky to be alive.

Kasatka’s
story is ultimately a tragic waste of a beautiful life —
and for nothing more than our fleeting amusement and financial
gain. Her death now leaves 22 orcas captive in the U.S., including 21
at SeaWorld parks, and Lolita at
the Miami Seaquarium.

One
by one, these whales will continue to pass. And while we can’t
undo the injustices they’ve endured in the past, we can ensure no
other marine mammals suffer in the future.

Even
though SeaWorld has made a corporate promise to stop breeding, many
animal activists are working to make sure the company can’t
go back on its word. Whale and dolphin advocates are pushing for
lawmakers to pass the Florida
Orca Protection Act and urging
Congress to pass the Orca

Responsibility
and Care Advancement (ORCA) Act –
landmark legislation that would permanently ban

keeping
orcas in captivity in the U.S.

Hopefully
theses efforts will be successful, and we will have a future where
orcas receive protection in the wild — where they belong.

Kreeg gisteren een petitie toegestuurd van Care2, waarin de oproep te tekenen tegen het voornemen van de VS luchtmacht, als oefening een leefgebied van dolfijnen en walvissen bij Hawaï te bombarderen……

Te zot voor woorden, deze dieren hebben hun gehoor al zo hoognodig in de door herrie verscheurde stilte van de oceanen, dit door scheepsmotoren, olie- en gaswinning, seismische proeven t.b.v.: de (vooral) VS marine en nogmaals de oliemaffia………

Het is zo, dat zelfs het leven van walvisachtigen afhangt van een uitstekend functionerend gehoor…….

Stop
the Air Force from Bombing Hundreds of Dolphins and Whales!

Doelwit: National
Marine Fisheries Service: Jolie Harrison, Chief, Permits and

The U.S.
Air Force plans to drop 100 bombs,
as large as 300 pounds each, on the waters north of Kauai, Hawaii,
each year for the next five years. The Air Force has requested
permission to harm 637 whales and dolphins in
executing this endeavor. If this plan is approved by the National
Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA-Fisheries), it is estimated
that dozens
of marine mammals would be permanently deafened, and hundreds would
suffer from temporary hearing loss and changes in natural behavior.
Species that would be affected include the humpback whale, sei whale,
minke whale, and Fraser dolphin.

The
Air Force has proposed protecting dolphins and whales by looking for
them on the surface of the water, a ridiculous strategy given that
the waters in the area are more than 15,000 feet deep.

The negative
impact of ocean noise on whales and dolphins has
been well documented. Marine mammals depend upon sound to navigate,
find mates, hunt, and communicate over hundreds of miles. Without
the ability to hear, they are rendered unable to perform the most
basic tasks necessary to their survival. Noise
from military testing, as well as commercial shipping and oil and gas
exploration, has caused trauma, deafness, and led to the mass
beachings and deaths of dolphins and whales around the world.

As
an animal lover, I am deeply saddened that beautiful, intelligent
marine mammals around the world are suffering horrifically because of
noise pollution caused by humanity. Collateral damage to innocent
wildlife should not be considered an acceptable consequence of
military testing. Please
sign this petition urging NOAA-Fisheries to block plans by the U.S.
Air Force that would cause harm to dolphins or whales. For
marine mammals to survive and flourish, we must stop noise pollution
in our oceans. Any testing plans by the military must give meaningful
and effective protection to these magnificent beings.
