Al meer dan een maand geleden werd bekend gemaakt dat in het Syrische gebied Oost-Ghouta waar o.a. de stad Douma ligt, de ‘gematigde rebellen’ (psychopathische moordenaars die beschikken over gifgas, zoals bekend in het westen…..*) bezig waren met de voorbereiding van een gifgasaanval en dat er i.d.d. een grote hoeveelheid chlorine werd opgeslagen (zie o.a. de eerste links opgenomen onder het artikel van Anti-Media)……..
Het is dan ook volkomen duidelijk dat het bij de gifgasaanval op Douma om de zoveelste ‘false flag’ operatie gaat. Tot nu toe zijn alle gifgasaanvallen in Syrië, die sinds de strijd daar begon en die onafhankelijk werden onderzocht, toegeschreven aan de ‘gematigde rebellen….’ Ondanks deze kennis blijft men volhouden dat Assad de schuldige is, zoals de grote gifgasaanval van 2013, die naderhand door de VN aan de ‘gematigde rebellen’ werd toegeschreven……. (nog steeds wordt niet alleen in de politiek, maar zelfs in de media volgehouden dat dit een gifgasaanval was, die werd gepleegd door het Assad regime…….. En maar lullen over ‘fake news……’)
Ongelofelijk dat men gisteren ‘al wist wie de schuldige is’, Donald ‘Joker’ Trump had maar een half woord nodig om tekeer te gaan tegen Assad……. Benieuwd of hij daar de dagen ervoor al op had geoefend, immers deze aanval is minstens met medeweten van de VS gepleegd……..
Als één van de betrouwbare bronnen werden uiteraard de White Helmets genoemd, een steungroep voor Al Qaida en andere terreurgroepen in Syrië……. Ondanks dat er voldoende bewijs is voor het zich schuldig maken aan terreur door de White Helmets, plus de verdere steun van deze zogenaamde humanitaire hulporganisatie voor de terreurgroepen, o.a door als spreekbuis te dienen voor deze terroristen (die vreselijke misdaden hebben begaan in Syrië), blijven westerse politici en de reguliere westerse media deze groep als een ‘humanitaire hulporganisatie’ zien…….
Tja, als eerste moet je je altijd afvragen bij dergelijke aanvallen, wie heeft er het meest baat bij, daarna is de vraag ‘waarom’ meestal heel makkelijk te beantwoorden, waarbij alleen nog het wachten is op de bevestiging van je vermoeden. Tegelijk moet je je afvragen wat de door de politiek en media aangewezen schuldige er voor baat bij had om een dergelijke aanval te doen….
Gezien alle beschuldigingen aan het adres van de Syrische regering, zou het nogal dom zijn om een dergelijke aanval uit te voeren, zeker daar het Syrische leger zonder dit soort oorlogsmisdaden de terroristen steeds verder terugdringt…….. Daarnaast hebben internationale chemische wapenexperts gezegd, dat het Syrische leger geen chemische wapens meer heeft (dit bijvoorbeeld i.t.t. De VS, die ze al lang had moeten vernietigen….)…. De ‘gematigde rebellen’ hebben baat bij deze beschuldiging, daar ze op het punt staan verdreven te worden uit Douma (nogmaals: al voor deze gifgasaanval)……. Daarbij rekent men op de steun van de VS in de strijd tegen het reguliere Syrische leger……. Bovendien hebben deze ‘gematigde rebellen’ de beschikking over gifgas (zie ook de noot * onder het hierna opgenomen artikel)
Al is een dergelijke handelswijze, het afwegen wie er baat heeft bij deze aanval, in dit geval niet eens nodig, daar zoals gezegd alle voorgaande gifgasaanvallen aan de gematigde rebellen zijn toegeschreven. Behalve dacht ik die op Khan Sheikhoun, daar de terreurgroep ter plaatse een onderzoekscommissie waaraan ook de Russen zouden deelnemen, categorisch hebben geweigerd (met steun van de VS)…….. Hoewel er naderhand bewijzen te over waren, voor de claim dat zoals gezegd een voorraad chlorine van deze terroristen werd geraakt bij een bombardement van de Syrische luchtmacht……
Gezien de uiterst fanatieke, veel te snelle reactie van Trump en o.a. plork Macron, de Franse president, moet gevreesd worden dat deze figuren de Russen zullen uitdagen door het voortouw te nemen om Damascus en andere steden, van het legitieme, democratisch gekozen Syrische bewind, te bombarderen……… We mogen hopen dat Putin, zoals hij al vaker heeft gedaan, zijn verstand zal gebruiken, anders zijn de ‘oorlogsrapen’ definitief gaar……
Trouwens, op 26 februari maakte de anti-Assad propaganda machine bekend dat er een gifgasaanval op Oost-Ghouta zou zijn gepleegd, zoals nu blijkt ‘een beetje voortijdig….’
Trump Threatens Putin and “Animal Assad” Over Syrian Chemical Attack
Remember when the US admitted Syrian “rebels” have used chemical weapons? Or when earlier this year, the now former Secretary of State blamed Russia for an alleged Syrian chemical attack, despite admitting he doesn’t know who actually did it?Or when the US finally admitted there was “no evidence” Assad used sarin gas? Or just last week, when Trump said that the US is finally pulling out of Syria as a result of the defeat of ISIS (much to the Pentagon’s fury and open-ended timetable for extracting Syrian resources)?
Well, maybe you do, but the neocons areback in charge of US war preparations foreign policy – now that war hawk John Bolton is Trump’s National Security Advisor – are so stuck with the age-old narrative that Assad is desperate to be bombed at any cost, that none of this actually matters, and instead the big story overnight is once again that, lo and behold, Assad decided to gas some “rebels” again, despite now overwhelmingly winning the war against US-backed insurgents, and despite knowing very well that exactly one year ago an alleged “chemical attack” prompted Trump to launch dozens of Tomahawks at Syria.
This is what happened (if you’ve seen this script played out before, you are not alone).
On Saturday night, an alleged chemical attack on a rebel-held town in eastern Ghouta reportedly killed dozens of people, according to US-linked medical services with Washington immediately responding that the reports – if confirmed – would demand an immediate international response. Actually scratch the “if confirmed” part – after all, the last time the US “intervened” in Syria, on April 7, 2017, the US did not need confirmation; Trump just needed a geopolitical distraction.
It seems that he needs another one again, and ideally one that shows just how angry he is with Putin now that an interview with Mueller is reportedly imminent.
A joint statement by the medical relief organization Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) and the civil defense service, which operates in rebel-held areas, said 49 people had died in the attack late on Saturday. Others put the toll at 150 or more.

The response from the Assad side was similarly predictable: the Syrian regime, whose overthrow the US failed to achieve in the course of the 6 year proxy war in order to facilitate the transport of Qatari natural gas to Europe, denied its forces had launched any chemical attack as the reports began circulating and said the rebels were collapsing and fabricating news.
The Syrian state news agency SANA said Jaish al-Islam was making “chemical attack fabrications in an exposed and failed attempt to obstruct advances by the Syrian Arab army,” citing an official source.
Meanwhile, Reuters said it could not independently verify the reports. Others did the same: The Syrian Observatory said it could not confirm whether chemical weapons had been used in the attack on Saturday.
But, as we noted above, who needs confirmation: after all, if the 2013 “chemical attack” that started it all and was later proven to be a hoax was sufficient, just do the same. And sure enough, a video uploaded by “local media activists” allegedly showed bodies of victims – including women and children – of the reported chemical attack in Douma. Once again, nobody has actually confirmed if anyone has died.

Meanwhile, the US, itching for that military spending GDP boost was ready with the outraged retort: the U.S. State Department said reports of mass casualties from the attack were “horrifying” and would, if confirmed, “demand an immediate response by the international community”. At the same time, Britain’s
Foreign Office also called the reports, if confirmed, “very concerning” and said “an urgent investigation is needed and the international community must respond. We call on the Assad regime and its backers, Russia and Iran, to stop the violence against innocent civilians.”
Note the “if confirmed” part, and keep an eye on how the narrative switches from that to “the attack was confirmed.” If the Skripal case is any indication, just repeating it often enough, should be sufficient.
Trump already did his part on Sunday morning, when he tweeted several statements on the alleged attack as if it was already confirmed, just as one would expect to accelerate the escalation:

Then, for good measure, Trump decided to throw Obama under the bus for not crossing his “red line in the sand”, once again assuming the attack was confirmed.
If President Obama had crossed his stated Red Line In The Sand, the Syrian disaster would have ended long ago! Animal Assad would have been history!
After the alleged attack, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauret recalled a 2017 sarin gas attack in northwestern Syria that the West and the United Nations blamed on Assad’s government. “The Assad regime and its backers must be held accountable and any further attacks prevented immediately,” she said adding that “The United States calls on Russia to end this unmitigated support immediately and work with the international community to prevent further, barbaric chemical weapons attacks.”
The US also said yet again that Russia is “ultimately bearing responsibility” for all chemical incidents in Syria, regardless of who carried them out, after rebel sources accused Damascus of gassing dozens in Eastern Ghouta’s Douma. In other words, even if the “chemical attack” was carried out by US-backed “rebels”, or better yet “ISIS”, it’s Putin’s fault.
“The regime’s history of using chemical weapons against its own people is not in dispute,” said the US State Department, indicating, however, that it was relying on “reports,” being unable to confirm the incident. “Russia ultimately bears responsibility for the brutal targeting of countless Syrians with chemical weapons.”
As for Russia, its Defense Ministry immediately denied and dismissed as false reports that the Syrian government had carried out a chemical attack in Eastern Ghouta’s Douma: “We strongly refute this information,” Major General Yury Yevtushenko, head of the Reconciliation Center in Syria, said in a statement on Sunday. “We declare our readiness, after Douma is liberated from the militants, to immediately send Russian radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists to collect data that will confirm the fabricated nature of these allegations,” he stated.
Yevtushenko said that “a number of Western countries” are trying to prevent the resumption of an operation aimed at driving militants from the city of Douma.
“For this purpose, the use of chemical weapons by Syrian government forces – one of the most widespread claims in the West – is being used,” he added.
And, knowing where this is all headed, Russia’s Foreign Ministry says in statement on website that reports of chemical weapons attack in rebel-held town of Douma are fabricated, and any military operations against Syria on false pretenses may lead to “gravest consequences.”
Russia warns the US not to strike Syria after the chemical attack: “Military intervention under false & fabricated pretexts in Syria, where Russian servicemen stay at the request of the legitimate government, is absolutely unacceptable and may trigger the gravest consequences.”
The Russians added that “the goal of such reports is to aid terrorists and justify possible military strikes from outside Syria.”
Russia is correct, and it is now just a matter of time before Trump unveils his next grand diversion from the chaos at home and the trade war with China, by launching another 50 or so Tomahawks at some venue deep inside Syria, in a carbon copy repeat of what happened exactly one year ago.

* Dat bleek o.a. na de zogenaamde gifgasaanval op Kahn Sheikhun, waarbij een opslagplaats van de ‘ gematigde rebellen’ met chlorine werd geraakt…….. Daar stelde men eerst dat er sarin gas zou zijn gebruikt, echter daar bleek niets van waar, het was chlorine (dit bleek al bij de eerste beelden van slachtoffers, waarbij de hulpverleners te zien waren, die geen beschermende kleding droegen, iets dat men sarin gas absoluut noodzakelijk is, daar de onderzoekers anders hun leven riskeren….). Ondanks dat dus bekend werd gemaakt dat de ‘gematigde rebellen’ voorraden gifgas in het bezit hadden, werd daar verder niets, met ook maar enige afkeuring, over gezegd in de reguliere westerse (massa-) media, of in de westerse politiek……. De VS liep overigens al eens tegen de lamp, toen er beelden naar buiten werden gebracht van een VS jager, die men de kleuren van de Syrische luchtmacht had gegeven. Het is overduidelijk dat men met deze jager een aanval had willen uitvoeren (en wellicht al had uitgevoerd..), om deze in de schoenen van Assad te schuiven (het zou de zoveelste false flag operatie van de VS zijn geweest)…….

Een artikel over de enorme anti-Syrische, anti-Russische en anti-Iraanse propaganda gebracht door de reguliere westerse (massa-) media, propaganda die herhaald wordt door het overgrote deel van de westerse politici……
Neem Turkije dat het Syrische bewind van terrorisme beschuldigde, daar dit bewind volkomen terecht probeerde en probeert de Turken, die illegaal Syrië zijn binnengevallen, uit haar land probeert te verdrijven….. Een illegale inval in een ander land is één van de zwaarste vormen van terreur en een oorlogsmisdaad van formaat! Turkije doet dit daar het stelt dat YPG terreurorganisatie is die een direct gevaar vormt voor de Turkse staat, echter deze groepering heeft tot nu toe niet één aanslag in Turkije gepleegd………..
Toch kan Turkije gewoon haar gang gaan, het westen onthoudt zich van commentaar, laat staan dat het ingrijpt door van Turkije te eisen zich terug te trekken uit Syrië en stemt daarmee in met deze grote oorlogsmisdaad, waarbij intussen een groot aantal mensen zijn vermoord door Turkije… Kijk daar hoor je de verontwaardigde westerse reguliere media niet over, terwijl de leugens in die media over Oost-Ghouta niet meer te tellen zijn (ofwel ‘fake news’ over dit stadsdeel)…….

US Aggression in Syria – an Imperialist Blueprint

February 23, 2018 “Information Clearing House” –Syria’s prolonged conflict and misery going into its eighth year is no accident. It is by design. American imperialist design.
First though, we note the increasing reprehensible absurdity in this conflict.
Turkey, which invaded Syria nearly a month ago in violation of Syria’s sovereignty, this week accused Damascus of “terrorism” after the Syrian government sent forces to defend the northern area near Afrin under assault from Turkey.
Meanwhile, US forces, again illegally occupying Syria in violation of international law, claim to be fighting terrorist militia. Yet more often than not, the Americans are affording protection to various terrorist groups.
Then when Syrian state forces advance to clear the terror groups, the US claims it is acting in “self-defense” by massacring whole units of the Syrian army.
Further absurdity is due to France, which has been bombing Syria illegally along with the US and Britain, warning Iranian militia, who are legally present in Syria owing to Damascus’ approval, that they have to withdraw from the country.
As if the situation couldn’t get any more bizarre, Israel has carried out more than 100 air strikes on Syria, claiming that the aggression are “acts of self-defense”.
The Syrian government of President Assad is the sovereign authority of the country, as recognized by UN resolutions. It has the right to defend its nation and to reclaim areas which have been usurped by illegally armed groups. Virtually all of these insurgents are foreign-backed proxies who have been waging a war for regime change according to the designs of their foreign sponsors.
The only armed forces legally present in Syria are those of Russia, Iran and associated militia who have been requested legally by the Syrian government to assist in defending the state from a foreign-backed war.
It is within the sovereign right of the Syrian government to take back all areas, including the suburb of East Ghouta near the capital Damascus. The district has been held under siege by foreign-backed extremists going by the name of Jaysh al Islam who are affiliated with internationally proscribed terror groups Al Nusra Front and Islamic State.
The impetus to liberate East Ghouta has come about because the militants have been firing mortars at nearby Damascus with deadly results.
Not only are Western states violating international law by militarily hampering the Syrian army and its allies in rescuing the country from foreign insurgents, the Western governments and media are mounting a propaganda campaign in an attempt to tie the Syrian state forces’ hands behind their backs by distorting their legal duty as “barbarism”.
Out of the half million people who have died in the past seven years of war in Syria, it is estimated that nearly half of that total were members of the Syrian army.
Added to the Western calumnies over Syria are claims that Syrian state forces have been using chemical weapons on civilian populations. The evidence points in fact to the Western-backed so-called jihadists who have been stealthily using these weapons for false-flag propaganda stunts.
To understand the chaotic conflict in Syria, we must refer to the decades-old imperial designs that the US and its allies have had towards the country. The Americans and the British governments going back to Eisenhower and Churchill in the 1950s wanted to destabilize and subjugate the Arab republic – a former French colony.
In 1996, a new generation of imperialists in Washington led by Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser and other neoconservatives formulated the “Clean Break” strategy. The strategy in conjunction with Israel sought to destabilize and “roll back” Syria because of its alliance with Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.
More widely, the neoconservatives in Washington openly declared their aim of balkanizing the entire region in order to, in their calculation, make Israel more secure. Syria and Iraq were top priorities for US-imposed chaos.
Significantly, the Clean Break strategy designated Turkey as a key partner to the US and Israel for implementing this plan.
The same American neoconservative planners went on to occupy key positions at the Pentagon and State Department during President George W Bush administrations. There is every reason to believe their stratagem of organized chaos – as a way of exerting hegemony over the oil-rich Middle East – continues to be the guiding, albeit tacit, policy of the US government under President Trump.
Russia, Iran and Hezbollah largely helped Syria bring the war to a close at the end of last year with the widespread routing of foreign-backed insurgents. However, a subsequent peace process brokered by Russia, Iran and Turkey has lost momentum. The violence in Syria appears to re-igniting. The increasingly overt military presence of US and Turkish forces, as well as Israeli incursions, is the clearest factor in the resurgence of conflict. More than ever, the US and its allies are operating on a brazen imperial design to dismember Syria and its territorial integrity. This is nothing short of criminal aggression by Washington following a deliberate plan for regional domination. This imperialist intrigue should be called out for what is by the United Nations. But rather than upholding the UN Charter, the body’s senior figures are joining in the Western chorus of condemning Syria for defending its national rights. The UN is appearing like the ineffectual League of Nations in the 1930s when it pandered to Nazi and fascist aggression. What the US and its allies are doing now in Syria is a repeat – fanning the flames of wider war in the Middle East. Laws and sovereignty are being smashed at will and yet the Western media and UN are blind to the aggression. Indeed, they are turning reality on its head, by blaming victim-states for the aggression. The straightforward bottom line is that the US, Turkey, Israel and other NATO powers must withdraw from Syria. Respect Syria’s sovereignty and desist from criminal intrigues for regime change. This is a minimum of abiding by international law. If these protagonists persist in their criminal schemes, the region is heading for a conflagration sparing no-one.

Afgelopen woensdag bracht Anti-Media een artikel geschreven door Darius Shahtahmasebi. Hierin stelt hij dat de VS, Frankrijk en Groot-Brittannië bezig zijn met de voorbereiding op een oorlog tegen Syrië (de regering Assad) en Noord-Korea…… Daarmee kan je de VS, GB en Frankrijk aanwijzen als het VS cliché: ‘as van het kwaad’, zeker daar deze landen zich al langer hebben schuldig gemaakt aan het uitoefenen van grootschalige terreur in het Midden-Oosten……
Zo zou Macron een rode lijn hebben gesteld voor Syrië: nog één keer een aanval met gifgas en Frankrijk zal het reguliere Syrische leger aanvallen…… Dit terwijl er, zoals je wellicht wel weet, geen enkel bewijs is voor een gifgasaanval gepleegd door het Syrische leger, sinds de VS opstanden organiseerde en gewapende groepen tekeer liet gaan in Syrië, zodat Assad beschuldigd zou worden en men zijn kop zou eisen…. (de VS, Saoedi-Arabië, Groot-Brittannië e.a. waren al vanaf 2006 bezig met de voorbereiding daartoe……*)
Voor de uitgevoerde gifgasaanvallen werd na onderzoek keer op keer vastgesteld dat deze niet van het reguliere Syrische leger kwamen, iets dat ‘uiteraard’ niet of ergens ver weggestopt de reguliere westerse media haalde…….. Zoals gezegd: deze gifgasaanvallen worden steevast door de terreurgroepen zelf uitgevoerd, waarna ze Assad beschuldigen van massamoord, dat is wat men een ‘false flag’ operatie noemt……..
Echter in het westen blijven ‘we’ gewoon doen of we doof zijn en blijven het Syrische bewind beschuldigen….. Volgens een VN rapport zou Noord-Korea onderdelen voor een laboratorium hebben geleverd, waaronder zuurbestendige tegels. Let wel, de reguliere media stellen dat Syrië daarmee gifgas kan maken echter er zijn geen grondstoffen geleverd voor gifgas, bijvoorbeeld zoals Nederland die in de 80er jaren leverde aan Saddam Hoessein in Irak….. (met dank aan VVD schoft Bolkestein) Toch zou de Noord-Koreaanse levering het bewijs zijn ‘dat Assad’ nog steeds chemische wapens maakt…. Alsof er niet voor veel andere zaken zuurbestendige tegels in laboratoria nodig zijn…….. Dan nog is het maar de vraag of deze claim klopt, het komt de anti-Assad coalitie wel heel erg goed uit……..
Zo te lezen staat Shahtahmasebi wel achter de uitspraak van de Britse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, de neoliberale dweil Boris Johnson, toen hij stelde dat ‘we’ geen militaire oplossing kunnen afdwingen in Syrië: “no military solution that we can impose”.Daar valt wel wat op aan te merken, de militaire oplossing is heel simpel: de VS, GB en Frankrijk moeten hun militairen onmiddellijk terugtrekken uit Syrië! (en stoppen met het steunen van terreurgroepen daar!) Het westen en dan m.n. De VS is de grote terrorist die als ‘het moet’ over miljoenen lijken gaat en dat in het verleden al heeft gedaan (alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 2 miljoen vermoorde mensen en gerekend vanaf WOII meer dan 22 miljoen slachtoffers…..)
Terecht merkt Shahtahmasebi op dat de VS wel heel erg hypocriet bezig is in de VN (althans wat er nog aan ‘normale praat’ uitkomt bij de VS ambassadeur daar, Nikki Haley) immers in de VN blokkeert Rusland dan wel resoluties (overigens volkomen terecht) tegen Syrië, maar de VS spreekt haar veto bij wijze van spreken al uit als iemand met de vinger naar de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël wijst………
Voorts noemt Shahtahmasebi de vermeende gifgas aanval in Oost-Ghouta van vorige week zondag, o.a. gemeld door het Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), volgens hem geleid door een Syrische dissident, echter dat is niet waar, deze figuur is een ordinaire misdadiger >> Osama Suleiman, die Syrië ontvluchtte vanwege een veroordeling tot gevangenisstraf…... Voorts krijgt deze Sulieman z’n informatie van de terreurgroepen in Syrië, ‘lekker betrouwbaar……’ Echter er waren meer meldingen van een gifgasaanval waarbij een baby zou zijn omgekomen……. Eerder werd er al melding gemaakt van een voorbereiding tot een false flag gifgasaanval door terreurgroepen in Syrië….** Blijkbaar was de claim van een gifgasaanval door het Syrische leger op Oost-Ghouta zo ongeloofwaardig dat deze werd genegeerd door de reguliere westerse media, dezelfde media die bij het vallen van het woord ‘gifgasaanval’ onmiddellijk naar Assad wijzen…… Dat de VS coalitie bij de ‘bevrijding’ van Raqqa het chemische wapen witte fosfor heeft ingezet, was voor de reguliere westerse media alweer geen reden om prominent over te berichten, laat staan dit aan de kaak te stellen…….. Wat betreft Noord-Korea heeft de VS al helemaal geen excuses meer nodig, de VS stelt gewoon dat dit land een direct gevaar is voor de VS, terwijl het maar zeer de vraag is of N-K zelfs maar een atoombom heeft, daar nog nooit iemand meldde dat er nucleaire straling is gemeten op de plek ‘waaronder de kernproeven plaatsvonden’, straling die zelfs met satellieten is te meten……

US, UK, and France Are Making the Case for War Against Both Syria and North Korea
(ANTIMEDIAOp-ed) — The United States, the United Kingdom, and France are gearing up for a renewed assault on Syria and North Korea. Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron said France will strike Syria if chemical weapons have been used against civilians in the Syrian war in violation of the international treaty banning chemical weapons — even though he admitted he had not yet seen proof this was the case.
“On chemical weapons, I set a red line and I reaffirm that red line,” Macron told reporters. “If we have proven evidence that chemical weapons proscribed in treaties are used, we will strike the place where they are made.”
“Today, our agencies, our armed forces have not established that chemical weapons, as set out in treaties, have been used against the civilian population,” he added.
On Monday, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson also argued in the British Parliament that there was a case for “limited strikes” if there was “incontrovertible evidence of further use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime or their supporters.”
However, he did indicate that there was “no military solution that we can impose” to bring peace to the war-torn country.
Despite this, he still suggested that the U.S. “did the right thing” when it attacked the Syrian government in April of last year in response to a suspected — though highly disputed — chemical weapons attack.
“I will certainly hope the West does not stand idly by,” Johnson added.
Opposition member John Woodcock appeared to take the pro-war rhetoric even further, stating that the U.N. Security Council “is broken while one of its permanent members flouts the basic laws and systems of order it was created to uphold.”
In case it wasn’t clear, this a reference to Russia, which has backed the Assad government through almost every U.N. Security Council vote. The irony of this, of course, is that it works both ways; the U.S. also regularly uses its veto to protect Israel, a country the U.N. regards as breaking international law in more ways than one.
“In these dreadful circumstances, being cowed into inaction by this strangulated body is a greater violation than seeking to act even without its own authorization,” Woodcock added.
Only a few weeks ago, the U.S. launched a deadly attack on pro-government troops, including Russian mercenaries on the ground in Syria, signaling that the U.S. will most likely not hesitate in striking Assad directly if the wind blows in the right direction.
On Sunday, Middle East Eye reported that there were signs that civilians had been hit by a suspected chlorine attack in Eastern Ghouta. The source of the claim was the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), an outfit run by one anti-Assad dissident in Coventry, England. Multiple outlets have also echoed the claims that Assad’s government has deployed chemical attacks early this year, though none of them seem to question the reliability of the allegations themselves.
Now, multiple outlets are reporting on an unreleased U.N. report that allegedly found North Korea has been providing Syria with supplies that could be used to make chemical weapons. According to the New York Times, the still-to-be-released report claims items including acid-resistant tiles, valves, and thermometers were shipped from North Korea to the Syrian government. The report also alleges that Pyongyang missile experts have been seen working in Syrian chemical weapons and missile facilities.
The report allegedly states that trade between North Korea and Syria poses a serious risk because it appears to allow Syria to maintain chemical weapons and allow North Korea to fund its nuclear program.
Further muddying the waters of truth are reports that previously emerged from Russian state-owned media claiming Russia’s Center for Reconciliation in Syria said it had been warned in advance that al-Qaeda linked terrorists brought in chlorine containers to a village in Syria, where they were to work with the White Helmets to stage “a provocation.”
Whether one wants to believe the Russian media’s claims or not, it is worth reminding ourselves that attacking a sovereign nation that poses no immediate threat to the U.S. and its allies is a major breach of international law unless that action has been approved by the U.N. Security Council. In the case of North Korea, the U.S. will most likely use the justification of what is known as preemptive self-defense to claim the right to protect itself from North Korea’s alleged nuclear program; in contrast, in Syria, the U.S. and its allies are hoping to invoke the “responsibility to protect” doctrine. Clearly, the recent claims about North Korea’s involvement in Syrian chemical weapons attacks suggest the U.S. may hope to bring a strike on North Korea to the table within this same pro-interventionist framework regarding the protection of Syrian civilians from deadly chemical weapons attacks.
However, in previously leaked audio, even former Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that the “responsibility to protect” argument had not yet evolved into a complete doctrine that could justify U.S. aggression towards Syria.
“The problem is that the Russians don’t care about international law, but we do,” Kerry stated behind closed doors to opposition members at the Dutch mission to the United Nations at the time. “And we don’t have the basis – our lawyers tell us – unless we have the U.N. Security Council Resolution, which the Russians can veto, and the Chinese, or unless we are under attack from the folks there, or unless we are invited in. Russia is invited in by the legitimate regime – well it’s illegitimate in our mind – but by the regime. And so they were invited in and we are not invited in. We’re flying in airspace there where they can turn on the air defenses and we would have a very different scene. The only reason they are letting us fly is because we are going after ISIL. If we were going after Assad, those air defenses, we would have to take out all the air defenses, and we don’t have the legal justification, frankly, unless we stretch it way beyond the law.” [emphasis added]
Where does that leave us? It should be clear that the U.S., the U.K., and France have no real leg to stand on when it comes to justifying their desire to disrupt the Syrian and North Korean governments. It is also apparent that the U.S. and its allies want us to believe they are concerned with human rights and chemical weapons attacks in Syria, even while the U.S.-led coalition used white phosphorus in the Syrian city of Raqqa – a city they destroyed at least 80 percent of in a ruthless and deadly siege that killed thousands of civilians.

Dit geeft ten overvloede nog eens aan dat deze media en politici zich maar al te graag bedienen van ‘fake nieuws……’ (of: ‘nepnieuws, wat je wilt)
Benieuwd hoe lang men deze leugen nog langer in de lucht zal houden, nadat de VS minister van buitenlandse zaken, James ‘mad dog’ Mattis toegaf dat de VS regering totaal geen bewijs heeft dat Assad aanvallen heeft gepleegd met gifgas……. Ach, de grote gifgasaanval uit 2013 in Syrië wordt nog steeds toegeschreven aan Assad, terwijl na VN onderzoek o.l.v. Del Ponte bleek dat het gifgas van de ‘gematigde rebellen kwam…. ‘Gematigde rebellen’, zoals men in het westen de anti-Assad terreurgroepen noemt, groepen die zich naast het gebruik van gifgas schuldig maken aan het in het openbaar executeren van vermeende tegenstanders, verkrachting en marteling………

The US Now Admits There Is No Evidence Assad Used Sarin Gas in Syria
(TIM) — U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis confirmed that the U.S. government has no evidence that the Syrian government used sarin gas on its people— a claim that was used by the White House as justification for an April 2017 launch of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Al Shayrat airfield in Syria.
On Friday, Mattis said that reports of chemical weapon use by the Syrian government have come from aid groups and others, but that the U.S. doesn’t have any evidence to support these assertions.
“We have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it’s been used,” Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon. “We do not have evidence of it.”
“We’re looking for evidence of it, since clearly we are dealing with the Assad regime that has used denial and deceit to hide their outlaw actions,” Mattis continued. “We’re even more concerned about the possibility of sarin use.”
Mattis explained that he was not refuting the third-party reports of chemical weapons used by the Syrian government led by President Bashar Assad. Assad has steadfastly denied that his government has used chemical weapons throughout the conflict.
In 2013, UN investigator Carla Del Ponte made note that Syrian rebels, not the Assad regime, used chemical weapons in the two-year civil war, contrary to assessments made by American officials.
“Carla Del Ponte, head of the independent UN commission investigating reports of chemical weapons use in Syria, told a Swiss-Italian television station that UN investigators gleaned testimony from victims of Syria’s civil war and medical staff which indicated that rebel forces used sarin gas — a deadly nerve agent.
‘Our investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated,’ Del Ponte said in the interview, translated by Reuters.
‘This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities,’ she added.”
During his comments on Friday, Mattis referred to the April 2017 cruise missile strikes on a Syrian airbase, noting that the Syrian government would “be ill-advised to go back to violating” the chemical weapons prohibition.
In addition to the UN investigation, one of the foremost academic experts in the field of missile fired chemical weapons, Theodore Postol, Professor of Science, Technology and National Security Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), came forward in a series of reports to note his opposition to the official Trump administration’s narrative in regards to the Khan Sheikhoun nerve agent attack in Syria, blamed on the Assad government, which precipitated the cruise missile strikes by the U.S., according to a report in the International Business Times. According to Postol, the Syrian gas attack was not carried out by the Syrian government.
In one of his reports, Postol concluded that the US government’s report does not provide any “concrete” evidence that Assad was responsible, adding it was more likely that the attack was perpetrated by players on the ground.
“I have reviewed the [White House’s] document carefully, and I believe it can be shown, without doubt, that the document does not provide any evidence whatsoever that the US government has concrete knowledge that the government of Syria was the source of the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, Syria at roughly 6am to 7am on 4 April, 2017.
In fact, a main piece of evidence that is cited in the document point to an attack that was executed by individuals on the ground, not from an aircraft, on the morning of 4 April.
This conclusion is based on an assumption made by the White House when it cited the source of the sarin release and the photographs of that source. My own assessment is that the source was very likely tampered with or staged, so no serious conclusion could be made from the photographs cited by the White House.”
Postol noted that he has “unambiguous evidence that the White House Intelligence Report (WHR) of April 11, 2017 contains false and misleading claims that could not possibly have been accepted in any professional review by impartial intelligence experts.”
Postol called for an independent investigation into the decision to launch cruise missile strikes in Syria, concluding:
“It is now obvious that this incident produced by the WHR, while just as serious in terms of the dangers it created for US security, was a clumsy and outright fabrication of a report that was certainly not supported by the intelligence community.
In this case, the president, supported by his staff, made a decision to launch 59 cruise missiles at a Syrian air base. This action was accompanied by serious risks of creating a confrontation with Russia, and also undermining cooperative efforts to win the war against the Islamic State.”
In het AVROTROS programma ‘Nieuwsweekend’ (de oude TROS Nieuwsshow, terug met de stumpers van der Weij en de Bie) aandacht voor de illegale Turkse inval in Syrië (een oorlogsmisdaad van formaat). Je begrijpt natuurlijk wel, dat de Turkse inval allesbehalve als ‘illegaal’ werd aangemerkt, zoals ook het woord ‘oorlogsmisdaad’ niet werd genoemd in dit Radio1 programma…….
Nee, sterker nog ‘oorlogscorrespondent’ Melissen, naast journalist Geerdink, gast voor dit onderwerp, begrijpt de Turken wel…… Dat zit zo: niet dat de YPG, de Koerdische strijders die dit gebied in handen hebben, ooit één aanslag hebben gepleegd in Turkije (wat uiteraard niet werd genoemd door Melissen noch door Geerdink), nee, de reden bestaat uit de eerste actie van de YPG na inname van Raqqa >> waar een enorme afbeelding werd opgehangen van PKK leider Öcalan, op het ‘hoofdplein’ van deze stad……… Alsof dit een terreurdaad van grote proporties is……..
Oh, dus een afbeelding van een gevangenzittende leider van de PKK ophangen is voor Melissen en de Turken voldoende om in een paar dagen tijd zo’n 500 mensen te vermoorden (waaronder vrouwen en kinderen) en dat tijdens deze illegale inval op Syrisch grondgebied, zoals gezegd is alleen dat al een oorlogsmisdaad van formaat…….
Volgens Melissen was hij aanwezig bij de bevrijding van Raqqa, althans anders kan je zijn woorden niet interpreteren, echter als je de werkwijze van Melissen in ogenschouw neemt, is dit een grove leugen, daar het deze ‘oorlogscorrespondent al dun door de broek loopt als hij in de verte een granaat hoort ontploffen. Zijn enige ‘aanwezigheid’ bij oorlogshandelingen, is als hij embedded is en dan nog in de achterhoede, zo heeft hij een paar keer bewezen……. Bij alle andere oorlogshandelingen is Melissen, als zijn collega Jan Eikelboom ver van het front het liefst zelfs in een ander land, waar deze figuren dan vooral over ‘de moeilijkheden en het gevaar’ praten waar ze mee te maken hebben……….
Voorts stelde Melissen dat de VS Raqqa voor de helft heeft platgebombardeerd na opdracht van de Koerden…… Het was deze fantast nog niet opgevallen dat deze manier ‘van werken’ constant wordt gevolgd door de VS, of je het nu over Raqqa, Mosul, Fallujah of andere steden in Syrië en Irak hebt…… Zelfs de VN vangt bot als het de VS verzoekt te stoppen met bombardementen op burgerdoelen, zoals bewezen bij de ‘bevrijding’ van West-Mosul en (alweer) Raqqa…….. Kortom de VS heeft de Koerden niet nodig voor deze oorlogsmisdaden; Melissen gebruikte weliswaar niet het woord opdracht, maar stelde dat de Koerden dankbaar moeten zijn voor deze actie van de VS…….
Geerdink was het grotendeels wel eens met Melissen, zij wil dan ook graag terug naar Turkije en Melissen bevindt zich meestal aan de Turkse kant van de grens met Syrië, dus geen kritiek op Turkije…… (Melissen stelde nog een keer nadrukkelijk dat hij regelmatig door het gebied reist, het gebied dat de Turken ‘veilig’ willen stellen….. Echter keer op keer blijkt dat hij aan de Turkse kant van de grens ‘door het Syrische gebied reist….’)
Zowel Melissen als Geerdink noemden Assad een dictator…. Ach ja, je kan van ‘journalisten en oorlogscorrespondenten’ niet verwachten dat ze op de hoogte zijn van het feit, dat Assad middels door internationale waarnemers goedgekeurde democratische verkiezingen tot president werd gekozen en dat door het overgrote deel van de Syrische bevolking………
Vanmiddag was het bal op WDR 5: daar werd o.a. het hierboven genoemde aantal door Turkije bij deze inval vermoorde mensen genoemd. Ook de correspondent voor de WDR noemde de YPG een terroristische organisatie, nogmaals alsof deze organisatie aanslagen heeft gepleegd in Turkije……..
In Keulen vindt momenteel een grote Koerdische demonstratie plaats tegen de Turkse inval. WDR meldde dat er vlaggen en andere materiaal met de afbeelding van PKK leider Öcalan in beslag waren genomen……
Duitsland verbiedt dus afbeeldingen van Öcalan in haar straten……. Ongelofelijk: waarom verbiedt Duitsland dan niet de Turkse vlag in haar straten, immers de staatsterreur van Turkije tegen de Koerden, is oneindig veel groter dan de wanhopige ‘terreurdaden van de PKK??!!!’ (ofwel het gaat hier om Koerdisch verzet tegen Turkse staatsterreur)
Hoe is het in godsnaam mogelijk dat Nederland, de EU en anderen, de grootschalige terreur van Turkije in eigen land en in Syrië niet veroordelen, maar wel de PKK op een internationale terreurlijst hebben gezet……. Nog zotter eigenlijk: de zogenaamde onafhankelijke reguliere media die e.e.a. uitdragen en verdedigen……. Walgelijk!!
Het Pentagon heeft eindelijk toegegeven dat de VS niet in Syrië is om IS te bestrijden, maar om het land te verdelen in stukken, waarbij de terreurgroepen die de VS steunt, zoals Al Qaida Syrië, ofwel al-Nusra*, een hoofdrol zullen spelen in door de VS aangewezen autonome gebieden (bekonkeld met Israël, Saoedi-Arabië en Groot-Brittannië…)…….
Keer op keer, ook onder Obama, beweerde de VS alleen in Syrië te zijn voor de bestrijding van IS, maar nu de VS stelt dat IS is overwonnen, zegt het Pentagon niet van zins te zijn een eind te maken aan haar illegale verblijf in Syrië, integendeel: het Pentagon stelt dat de VS (illegaal) aanwezig zal blijven in Syrië……
Daarmee geeft de VS in feite aan dat het wat hen betreft voorgoed is afgelopen met het vreedzaam samenwonen van diverse religies naast elkaar, zoals dit het geval was, voordat de VS in 2011 een opstand kocht in Syrië (waarvoor de eerste plannen al werden gemaakt in 2006), een opstand die moest uitmonden in een staatsgreep tegen het bewind van Assad………
Met deze belofte van de VS, zal bovendien de vrede niet terugkeren in het gebied dat we nu nog Syrië noemen……
Overigens is het meer dan duidelijk dat de VS meermaals IS heeft gesteund, niet alleen in Libië en Irak**, maar ook in Syrië…… Terwijl het Pentagon en de VS minister van Defensie, uh Oorlog, James ‘mad dog’ Mattis, als excuus voor de blijvende illegale aanwezigheid van VS militairen op Syrisch grondgebied aanvoeren, dat het een opnieuw opstaan van IS wil voorkomen……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
Syrië moet en zal uiteenvallen, zodat de VS, Israël en Saoedi-Arabië uiteindelijk het sjiitische Iran aan kunnen vallen……. Vanmorgen meldde BBC World Service radio nog, dat Israël en Saoedi-Arabië, de grootste terreurstaten in het Midden-Oosten gezamenlijk Iran hebben aangewezen als verspreider van terreur en instabiliteit in het Midden-Oosten……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Knettergek en nog zotter dat men dergelijke berichten zonder enige kritiek durft te brengen!!
ISIS Officially ‘Defeated’ but the US Will Stay in Syria
Russia questions what the US goal in Syria has become.
(ANTIWAR.COM) — US military intentions in Syria have never been exactly transparent, but are becoming ever less so, as Pentagon officials loudly declare ISIS to have been “defeated” in the country, but insist that they intend to remain.
This is a potential major legal issue, because Syria never authorized the US invasion in the first place. US officials always presented the authorization as being UN resolutions supporting the fight against ISIS, but that would no longer apply.
Moreover, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has pointed out that Secretary of State Tillerson has repeatedly assured him that the “only” US goal in Syria is to fight ISIS. This is adding to Russian concerns about what the US is actually planning on doing next.
Secretary of Defense James Mattis is trying to present this as keeping “ISIS 2.0” from coming into existence. While this is also the pretext for staying in Iraq, there is a major difference between a permanent deployment in Iraq that the US-backed government there supports, and trying to stay in Syria forever despite explicit opposition from the Syrian government.

BNR’s oliebol Bernard Hammelburg maakt sinds enige tijd op de volgende manier reclame voor zijn programma ‘De Wereld’: ‘Om de ingewikkelde wereldpolitiek te kunnen volgen, heb je een soort GPS nodig, dat kompas is BNR De Wereld….‘ ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
Een zwaar disfunctionerend kompas wel te verstaan, daar gaf kompas Hammelburg vanmorgen nog eens een voorbeeld van. Met een herhaling van een keer of tien noemde Hammelburg het zééééér interessante woord ‘realpolitik’. Zo is realpolitik nodig voor samenwerking met het monster Assad (en de Russen) om tot een eind aan de oorlog in Syrië te komen, aldus de levend geworden rollade Hammelburg.
Kompas Hammelburg stelde voorts dat de VS niet goed weet welke ‘verzetsgroepjes’* het moet steunen en daarom steunt de VS volgens Hammelburg in feite voornamelijk alleen de Koerden in Syrië…….. Kijk alweer een misser van ‘het kompas’, immers de VS steunt meerdere terreurgroepen (het echte woord voor die schoften) in Syrië, terreurgroepen die buiten de Koerden en IS, gelieerd zijn aan Al Qaida…… Een maand of anderhalf geleden verklaarde de VS zelfs dat Al Qaida Syrië van de internationale terreurlijst is gehaald, m.a.w. de VS kan die terreurgroepen nu helemaal volproppen met wapens en munitie (plus militaire training…)……..
Kompas Hammelburg stelde voorts dat Assad een paar maanden geleden inderdaad gifgas heeft gebruikt tegen de Syrische bevolking in Khan Sheikhoun……. Deskundigen hebben uit en te na gesteld, dat er gezien de omgang met de slachtoffers geen sprake kan zijn geweest van het gebruik van Sarin gas en dat aan de hand van getuigenverklaringen geconcludeerd kan worden, dat een opslag met o.a. chloorgas werd getroffen bij een bombardement op een opslagplaats en kantoor van Al Qaida (o.a. ook al-Nusra genoemd)…….. Vreemd genoeg besteedden de internationale massamedia geen aandacht aan het feit, dat Al Qaida grondstoffen voor het maken van gifgas en zelfs gifgas bezat op die plek………..
Hammelburg is zelfs nog steeds overtuigd van het ‘feit’ dat Syrië in 2013 ook een grootschalige gifgas aanval heeft ingezet tegen het Syrische volk, terwijl deze grove leugen al lang is doorgeprikt, ook toen gebruikten de ‘gematigde rebellen’ gifgas en niet het Syrische leger……
Assad een monster? Vreemd dat in 2014 een grote meerderheid van het Syrische volk hem dan tot president koos, in door internationale waarnemers goedgekeurde verkiezingen…… Assad is zo’n groot monster, dat mensen die voor het geweld van de ‘gematigde’ terreurgroepen zijn gevlucht, massaal terugkeren naar huis, of de plek waar dat huis stond, zolang deze zijn veiliggesteld door het reguliere Syrische leger………
De VS was al vanaf 2006 bezig met het opzetten van een opstand in Syrië, daar Assad pijpleidingen over zijn grond weigerde…… In 2011 transporteerde o.a. de VS grote aantallen terroristen, waaronder zelfs IS leden van Libië naar Syrië, dit om te strijden tegen Assad…….. Kortom als er één monster is als het gaat om Syrië (en het Midden-Oosten), is het de VS wel!
Als u een kompas nodig heeft kan u die beter in de winkel aanschaffen, kompas Hammelburg is al jaren kaduuk!!! Hammelburg is een simpele lobbyist en propagandist voor het uiterst agressieve optreden van de VS (en haar waakhond de NAVO) in landen waar het niets te zoeken heeft, agressie die maar met een woord kan worden gekenschetst: grootschalige terreur!! Bovendien kan je stellen dat Hammelburg een lobbyist is voor het militair-industrieel complex, dat belang heeft bij zoveel mogelijk oorlogsvoering op onze kleine aarde……. Kortom Hammelburg is een vuile schoft!

Mensen ik wist niet wat ik hoorde, toen de nieuwslezer van BBC World Service afgelopen zaterdag oplepelde dat Putin akkoord is gegaan met een staakt het vuren in het Zuidwesten van Syrië.
De VS heeft helemaal niets te zoeken in Syrië, het bevindt zich zelfs illegaal op Syrische bodem!! Intussen is meer dan eens aangetoond, dat de VS Al Qaida in Syrië steunt en als je AL Qaida zegt in Syrië, bedoel je alle terreurgroepen (ja ook die ‘gematigde rebellen), ze zijn allemaal verbonden met Al Qaida!! Er ontbreekt er een en u raadt het al, dat is…… IS!! Voor al die terreurgroepen doet VS bondgenoot Saoedi-Arabië de financiën en eventuele wapenleveringen, die het nu met schepen tegelijk binnenkrijgt uit de VS en Groot-Brittannië…….
Hoe kan je overleggen met een land dat jouw bondgenoot keer op keer dwarszit als het bezig is met de bestrijding van IS of een andere barbaarse terreurgroep…….. Ja, ook in geval van gevechten met IS…….. Zoals Israël dat nu ook al een aantal keer heeft gedaan op verzoek van IS en Al Qaida……..
Het is toch godverdomme de taak van een democratisch gekozen regering, zoals in het geval van Syrië, de straten vrij te maken van moorddadig geteisem!! En precies dat is meteen de makke met de VS, immers als het over de VS gaat, spreek je wel over verreweg de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, die ongekende terreur uitoefent waar haar troepen illegaal strijden!!
Ongelofelijk dat Putin instemde met dit akkoord en daarmee in feite de VS agressie legitimeert?
De inhumane schoft Tillerson, ex-topgraaier van ExxonMobil, waarvoor hij nu als VS minister van BuZA toplobbyist is, greep het akkoord tussen Trump en Putin aan, om te stellen, dat er een pijpleiding voor aardgas zal worden aangelegd vanuit Saoedi-Arabië naar Europa (‘EU Europa’ wel te verstaan). Dit zal zorgen voor energiezekerheid in de EU (al noemde hij weer Europa)…….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Energiezekerheid uit een gebied dat voor een groot deel in de fik staat, dankzij ‘het land’ van Tillerson, (nogmaals) de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS!!
Deze pijpleiding was één van de hoofdredenen voor de opstand die de VS organiseerde in Syrië, een opstand die in een coup moest eindigen……. De voorbereidingen daarvoor dateren alweer uit 2006! Die opstand en coup moesten de weg vrijmaken voor de hiervoor genoemde pijpleiding, daar Assad tegen was………
Met de door Trump en Putin afgesproken wapenstilstand, is in Syrië een gebied vrijgekomen, waarover de pijpleiding kan worden aangelegd……. Met andere woorden: Putin is dubbel genaaid door Trump!
Hoe is het mogelijk dat iemand de VS nog serieus neemt, terwijl er in feite een topman van de olie- en gasmaffia is benoemd tot minister van Buitenlandse Zaken……..
Dit laatste bericht, dus over Tillersons aankondiging, was vannacht om 1.00 u. te horen in de nieuwsuitzending op BBC World Service radio.
De reguliere massamedia in de VS spreken de afgelopen maanden over de VS, als zou ‘het land’ in de Syrië oorlog worden getrokken (door krachten van buitenaf)…….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! De eerste plannen voor een staatsgreep in Syrië, dateren uit de 80er jaren, de tijd van opperschoft Reagan! In 2006 werd dit plan nieuw leven ingeblazen, nadat bleek dat het bewind van Assad weigerde pijpleidingen over haar grondgebied toe te staan, pijpleidingen voor olie en vooral gas transport richting EU.
Twee vliegen in één klap, daar het bewind Assad, zeer tegen de zin van de VS, goede banden onderhield en onderhoudt met Rusland…….. In de besprekingen die de VS in 2006 startte met landen als Groot-Brittannië, Turkije, Saoedi-Arabië en een paar andere arabische landen, zette men in op een opstand in Syrië, die zou moeten uitmonden in een staatsgreep tegen Assad en de opdeling van Syrië…..
Vanaf 2011 heeft de VS jaarlijks 1 miljard dollar aan wapens en training in de zogenaamde oppositie gestoken……. Zogenaamde oppositie, daar het overgrote deel van de ‘gematigde rebellen’, uiterst gewelddadige buitenlandse terroristen zijn zoals die van Al Qaida en IS……. De VS liet na de val van Khadaffi in Libië (ook al via een door de VS georganiseerde opstand en illegale oorlog) een groot aantal terroristen transporteren naar Irak, om van daaruit Syrië in te trekken en daar het Assad bewind omver te werpen…….
De media in de VS stellen echter keer op keer, dat de VS de beste bedoelingen heeft en in een oorlog wordt gelokt, i.p.v. het vervolmaken van een jarenlange uitgedachte strategie om bijvoorbeeld in het Midden-Oosten (maar ook in Oekraïne) de lakens te kunnen uitdelen. Elk land waar een regime aan de macht is, dat niet klakkeloos knielt voor de VS, wordt door de VS als een gevaar voor het eigen voortbestaan afgeschilderd, zowel door de politiek als door de reguliere massamedia…….
Telkens weer wordt onomwonden gesteld dat de VS wordt aangevallen en zich derhalve dient te verdedigen……. Vanaf WOII tot het jaar 2000 heeft de VS meer dan 20 miljoen mensen vermoord in conflicten die door de VS zelf werden gecreëerd….. Sinds het begin van deze eeuw heeft diezelfde VS al 2 miljoen moorden op het geweten, alleen in Irak al meer dan 1,5 miljoen, middels de in 2003 illegaal begonnen oorlog tegen dat land (één van de grootste oorlogsmisdaden en daarmee terreuruitoefeningen die men kan bedenken……)……..
Uiteraard moeten Rusland en Iran het ook ontgelden in de reguliere VS media, als zouden zij i.p.v. de VS illegale oorlogen beginnen en opstanden op poten zetten waar het maar uitkomt………
Mensen het ligt er allemaal zo dik bovenop, dat je niet snapt dat de reguliere media en ‘intellectuele opiniemakers’ in de rest van het westen, zich zo laten gebruiken door de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS…….. Zonder amper enige kritiek loopt men achter de VS aan, de enige uitzondering is Trump, die sinds zijn aantreden als joker wordt neergezet. Lullig genoeg vinden deze media en intellectuelen verder zo ongeveer alles wat Trump en zijn leger flikken over de wereld, boven elke kritiek verheven…….

Syria Is Just the Latest Example of the US Gov’t Pretending to Be Dragged Into War
(FAIR) — A recent headline in The Atlantic (6/9/17) earnestly pondered if the US was “Getting Sucked Into More War in Syria.” “Even as Washington potentially stumbles into war…” was how the article’s discussion began.
One of the most common tropes in US media is that the US military always goes to war reluctantly—and, if there are negative consequences, like civilian deaths, it’s simply a matter of bumbling around without much plan or purpose.
This framing serves to flatter two sensibilities: one right and one vaguely left. It satisfies the right-wing nationalist idea that America only goes to war because it’s compelled to by forces outside of its own control; the reluctant warrior, the gentle giant who will only attack when provoked to do so. But it also plays to a nominally liberal, hipster notion that the US military is actually incompetent and boobish, and is generally bad at war-making.
This is expressed most clearly in the idea that the US is “drawn into” war despite its otherwise unwarlike intentions. “Will US Be Drawn Further Into Syrian Civil War?” asked Fox News (4/7/17). “How America Could Stumble Into War With Iran,” disclosed The Atlantic (2/9/17), “What It Would Take to Pull the US Into a War in Asia,” speculated Quartz (4/29/17). “Trump could easily get us sucked into Afghanistan again,” Slate predicted (5/11/17). The US is “stumbling into a wider war” in Syria, the New York Times editorial board (5/2/15) warned. “A Flexing Contest in Syria May Trap the US in an Endless Conflict,” Vice News (6/19/17) added.
“Sliding,” “stumbling,” ”sucked into,” “dragged into,” ”drawn into”: The US is always reluctantly—and without a plan—falling backward into bombing and occupying. The US didn’t enter the conflict in Syria in September 2014 deliberately; it was forced into it by outside actors. The US didn’t arm and fund anti-Assad rebels for four years to the tune of $1 billion a year as part of a broader strategy for the region; it did so as a result of some unknown geopolitical dark matter.
Syria especially evokes the media’s “reluctantly sucked into war” narrative. Four times in the past month, the Trump administration has attacked pro-regime forces in Syria, and in all four instances they’ve claimed “self-defense.” All four times, media accepted this justification without question (e.g., Reuters, 6/19/17), despite not a single instance of “self-defense” attacks occurring under two-and-a-half years of the Obama administration fighting in Syria. (The one time Obama directly attacked Syrian government forces, the US claimed it was an accident.)
Why the sudden uptick in “self-defense”? Could it be because, as with the bombing of ISIS (and nearby civilians), Trump has given a green light to his generals to adopt an itchy trigger finger? Could it be Trump and Secretary of Defense James Mattis, who has a decades-long grudge against Iran, want to blow up Iranian drones and kill Iranian troops? No such questions are entertained, much less interrogated. The US’s entirely defensive posture in Syria is presented as fact and serves as the premise for discussion.
When US empire isn’t reluctant, it’s benevolent. “Initially motivated by humanitarian impulse,” Foreign Policy‘s Emile Simpson (6/21/17) insisted, “the United States and its Western allies achieved regime change in Libya and attempted it in Syria, by backing rebels in each case.”
“At least in recent decades, American presidents who took military action have been driven by the desire to promote freedom and democracy,” the New York Times editorial board (2/7/17) swooned.
“Every American president since at least the 1970s,” Washington Post’s Philip Rucker (5/2/17) declared, “has used his office to champion human rights and democratic values around the world.” Interpreting US policymakers’ motives is permitted, so long as the conclusion is never critical.
In contrast, foreign policy actions by Russia are painted in diabolical and near-omnipotent terms. “Is Putin’s Master Plan Only Beginning?” worried Vanity Fair (12/28/16). “Putin’s Aim Is to Make This the Russian Century,” insists Time magazine (10/1/16).
Russia isn’t “drawn into” Crimea; it has a secret “Crimea takeover plot” (BBC, 3/9/15). Putin doesn’t “stumble into” Syria; he has a “Long-Term Strategy” there (Foreign Affairs, 3/15/16). Military adventurism by other countries is part of a well-planned agenda, while US intervention is at best reluctant, and at worst bumfuzzled—Barney Fife with 8,000 Abrams tanks and 19 aircraft carriers.
Even liberals talk about war in this agency-free manner. Jon Stewart was fond of saying, for example, that the Iraq war was a “mistake”—implying a degree of “aw shucks” mucking up, rather than a years-long plan by ideologues in the government to assert US hegemony in the Middle East.
War, of course, isn’t a “mistake.” Nor, unless your country is invaded, is it carried out against one’s will. The act of marshalling tens of thousands of troops, scores of ships, hundreds of aircraft, and coordinating the mechanisms of soft and covert power by State and CIA officials, are deliberate acts by conscious, very powerful actors.
Media shouldn’t make broad, conspiratorial assumptions as to what the bigger designs are. But neither are they under any obligation to buy into this mythology that US foreign policy is an improvised peace mission carried out by good-hearted bureaucrats, who only engage in war because they’re “sucked into” doing so.
Ron Paul is een rechtse hufter van formaat, maar zo nu en dan kan deze zakkenwasser met uiterst steekhoudende argumenten, smerige zaken aan de kaak stellen, zaken die op z’n zachtst gezegd niet veel steun van zijn Republikeinse partij krijgen.
Lees wat Paul schrijft over de oorlog in Syrië. Oké, e.e.a. was al bekend, echter het is meegenomen, als zelfs een rechtse houwdegen, als Paul, die NB aan de wieg van de Tea Party stond, zaken bevestigt. Al moet gezegd worden dat hij een verkeerde kijk heeft op een aantal zaken, zoals de reden waarom de VS illegaal in Syrië aanwezig is: het afzetten van Assad en zijn regering………..
Verder maakt Paul geen woorden vuil aan hoe en wie ‘de opstand’ in Syrië heeft gecreëerd (met hulp van vooral veel buitenlandse agitators, zoals die uit Saoedi–Arabië en door de VS aangevoerde terroristen uit o.a. Libië) in Syrië heeft gecreëerd. De VS is daarvoor aan te merken als hoofdverantwoordelijke, al in 2006 was deze terreurentiteit bezig met voorbereidingen van een opstand, die moest uitmonden in een staatsgreep tegen Assad…… Assad weigerde pijpleidingen voor gas en olie over zijn grondgebied richting Europa toe te staan, tja dan ga je op heel veel tenen staan….
Bovendien was en is Syrië al decennialang een bondgenoot van de Russen en de Iraniërs, daarmee haal je je de woede van de VS op de hals, de VS dat denkt de wereld te regeren ……

Why Are We Attacking the Syrians Who Are Fighting ISIS?
(RPI) Just when you thought our Syria policy could not get any worse, last week it did. The US military twice attacked Syrian government forces from a military base it illegally occupies inside Syria. According to the Pentagon, the attacks on Syrian government-backed forces were “defensive” because the Syrian fighters were approaching a US self-declared “de-confliction” zone inside Syria. The Syrian forces were pursuing ISIS in the area, but the US attacked anyway.
The US is training yet another rebel group fighting from that base, located near the border of Iraq at al-Tanf, and it claims that Syrian government forces pose a threat to the US military presence there. But the Pentagon has forgotten one thing: it has no authority to be in Syria in the first place! Neither the US Congress nor the UN Security Council has authorized a US military presence inside Syria.
So what gives the Trump Administration the right to set up military bases on foreign soil without the permission of that government? Why are we violating the sovereignty of Syria and attacking its military as they are fighting ISIS? Why does Washington claim that its primary mission in Syria is to defeat ISIS while taking military actions that benefit ISIS?
The Pentagon issued a statement saying its presence in Syria is necessary because the Syrian government is not strong enough to defeat ISIS on its own. But the “de-escalation zones” agreed upon by the Syrians, Russians, Iranians, and Turks have led to a reduction in fighting and a possible end to the six-year war. Even if true that the Syrian military is weakened, its weakness is due to six years of US-sponsored rebels fighting to overthrow it!
What is this really all about? Why does the US military occupy this base inside Syria? It’s partly about preventing the Syrians and Iraqis from working together to fight ISIS, but I think it’s mostly about Iran. If the Syrians and Iraqis join up to fight ISIS with the help of Iranian-allied Shia militia, the US believes it will strengthen Iran’s hand in the region. President Trump has recently returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia where he swore he would not allow that to happen.
But is this policy really in our interest, or are we just doing the bidding of our Middle East “allies,” who seem desperate for war with Iran? Saudi Arabia exports its radical form of Islam worldwide, including recently into moderate Asian Muslim countries like Indonesia. Iran does not. That is not to say that Iran is perfect, but does it make any sense to jump into the Sunni/Shia conflict on either side? The Syrians, along with their Russian and Iranian allies, are defeating ISIS and al-Qaeda. As candidate Trump said, what’s so bad about that?
We were told that if the Syrian government was allowed to liberate Aleppo from al-Qaeda, Assad would kill thousands who were trapped there. But the opposite has happened: life is returning to normal in Aleppo. The Christian minority there celebrated Easter for the first time in several years. They are rebuilding. Can’t we finally just leave the Syrians alone?
When you get to the point where your actions are actually helping ISIS, whether intended or not, perhaps it’s time to stop. It’s past time for the US to abandon its dangerous and counterproductive Syria policy and just bring the troops home.
