Ach, het is hier niet anders, jaarlijks krijgen de grote olie- en energiebedrijven maar liefst 8,3 miljard euro aan subsidie en dan durft men Rutte 3 het groenste kabinet ooit te noemen….. ha! ha! ha! ha! Let wel: die subsidie is in feite belastinggeld dat door ons werd opgebracht en dan mogen we ook nog eens fiks meebetalen aan de energietransitie, die de gesubsidieerde smeerpijpen juist tegengaan!! In Frankrijk, het land van de klimaattop van Parijs, heeft de neoliberale schoft Macron oliemaatschappij Total toestemming gegeven om olie en gas te winnen in het Arctisch gebied…….
Maar oh oh wat zijn we trots op het meer dan waardeloze klimaatakkoord van Parijs, waar de milieugroepen amper 5% van de tijd mochten deelnemen aan de besprekingen en de grootste vervuilers, de oliemaatschappijen, maar liefst 95%…. Tijdens de klimaattop van Madrid mochten de milieugroepen (zoals Greenpeace) niet eens deelnemen aan de besprekingen……. Moet je zien hoe geweldig positief de politici waren na die klimaattoppen, de smerige oplichters!!
Zojuist werd op WDR 5 bekendgemaakt dat de IJslandse gletsjers de laatste 21 jaar met één derde zijn afgenomen, evenveel als in de periode van 1890 tot het jaar 2000……. En dan probeert men de wereldbevolking gerust te stellen dat we alles nog wel kunnen stoppen op een temperatuurstijging van 1,5 graad Celsius in het jaar 2100 >> te belachelijk voor woorden!! De temperatuur zal aan het eind van deze eeuw met minstens 3 graden Celsius zijn gestegen en er zijn genoeg deskundigen die dat cijfer nog te laag vinden…… (bij een stijging tot 3 graden C. zal een groot deel van Nederland onder water staan…….)

While the Oval Office’s occupant may have changed, the risks to the Arctic—which is already heating up at three times the rate of the rest of the planet—have not. The looming climate crisis, which Joe Biden promised to confront, has not.
We must hold the Biden administration to its promise to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. We must push Congress to enact permanent protections for lands in the Arctic and across the country. We must fight for an end to the climate crisis. Can we count on your help at this crucial moment for the Arctic’s wildlife and indigenous communities?
Climate experts, Indigenous nations and others in our coalition opposed ConocoPhillips’ Willow Project for important reasons.
Over its lifetime, the project would create nearly 260 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions—just about equivalent to what 66 coal-fired power plants would produce!1 Environmental advocates also fear the project would divert the migration of caribou, impacting local communities’ ability to provide food for their families.
Moreover, the project—which would include 250 wells, a processing facility, hundreds of miles of pipelines and roads, even an airstrip—could negatively impact polar bears, fish and other vulnerable species, and change Alaska’s pristine northern reaches forever.2
Public lands across the country were carved up and divvied out to the highest bidder by the Trump administration. This is a time to protect and heal these lands, not open them wide for more drilling and spilling.
Thanks for your attention and commitment at this critical moment. President Biden promised to do better by the planet—and with your support, we’re going to hold him to it.

April dit jaar heeft het Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) haar jaarlijkse rapport gepubliceerd over de wereldwijde wapenhandel en weer (zoals altijd) is de VS de grote winnaar……. Tussen 2016 en 2020 heeft de VS 37% van de totale wapenleveringen over de wereld voor haar rekening genomen, bijna 2 keer zoveel dan Rusland, haar concurrent op dit gebied en meer dan 6 keer zoveel dan China, de door de VS gebombardeerde vijand ‘van de dag’.
Voor de 28ste keer in de laatste 30 jaar is de VS dus de winnaar in de verkoop van dood en verderf, dit onder elke administratie of die nu Republikeins dan wel Democratisch* was, er is dan ook geen analist van de wapenhandel die opkijkt van de conclusie die het SIPRI heeft getrokken…..
Met de grootschalige verkoop van wapens houdt de VS ook conflicten elders in stand en bevordert zelfs conflicten (als de VS daar al niet zelf mee bezig was…..) Neem Israël, de VS heeft sinds de illegale oprichting van die staat maar liefst 236 miljard dollar (in 2018 herberekend met medeneming van inflatie) aan economische en wapenhulp geboden…… Ook het laatste platgooien van de Gazastrook is mede te danken aan wapenleveranties van de VS aan dat gestolen land…….
Wapenleveranties aan dictaturen als die van Saoedi-Arabië (S-A), Egypte, de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) en de Filipijnen dragen bij aan enorme ellende die met VS wapens worden aangericht, zoals de genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. De Saoedische terreurcoalitie, bestaande uit o.a. S-A, de VAE zijn zeker wat betreft deze 2 verantwoordelijk voor het bewapenen van terreurgroepen als Al Qaida en ISIS, die overigens ook meermaals direct zijn bevoorraad door de VS zelf…….
De genoemde landen zijn nog maar een paar voorbeelden, zo houdt de VS ook foute regeringen in Latijns-Amerika in het zadel met grote wapenleveranties, zoals die in Honduras, dat een waar terreurbewind voert tegen de arme oorspronkelijke bewoners en andere armen in dat land…….. Deze mensen vluchten dan ook in grote getale naar de VS, terwijl de VS hen niet wenst op te nemen, waar deze grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld zelf de voorwaarden heeft geschapen waarom men daar op de vlucht slaat…… De VS geeft zelfs technische en wapenhulp hulp aan landen als Mexico om de zuidgrenzen te controleren en dicht te houden voor vluchtelingen (om nog maar te zwijgen over de schandelijke behandeling van vluchtelingen in de VS, zoals het scheiden van ouders en kinderen, wat overigens ook al gebeurde onder Obama en het opsluiten van mensen en kinderen in gevangenissen die alles weg hebben van concentratiekampen……)
Biden beloofde voor en kort na zijn aantreden de VS wapenexport aan banden te leggen, echter van die beloften is niets terechtgekomen, niet vreemd overigens als je bedenkt dat Biden al mede verantwoordelijk was voor VS wapenexport toen hij fungeerde als vicepresident onder Obama……. Nee, onder Biden zal er ook op dit gebied niets veranderen…….
William Hartung heeft op TomDispatch.com geschreven (door mij overgenomen van Information Clearing House >> ICH) waarin hij dieper ingaat op de wapenhandel van de VS, wat dit veroorzaakt aan ellende en wie er van profiteert, zoals je begrijpt vooral wapenfabrikanten van de VS en de spuugrijke figuren met aandelenpakketten in die doodsindustrie.
Selling Death: America Dominant Again (in Arms Sales)
In April of this year, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) published its annual analysis of trends in global arms sales and the winner — as always — was the U.S. of A. Between 2016 and 2020, this country accounted for 37 percent of total international weapons deliveries, nearly twice the level of its closest rival, Russia, and more than six times that of Washington’s threat du jour, China.
Sadly, this was no surprise to arms-trade analysts. The U.S. has held that top spot for 28 of the past 30 years, posting massive sales numbers regardless of which party held power in the White House or Congress.
This is, of course, the definition of good news for weapons contractors like Boeing, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, even if it’s bad news for so many of the rest of us, especially those who suffer from the use of those arms by militaries in places like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates. The recent bombing and leveling of Gaza by the U.S.-financed and supplied Israeli military is just the latest example of the devastating toll exacted by American weapons transfers in these years.
While it is well known that the United States provides substantial aid to Israel, the degree to which the Israeli military relies on U.S. planes, bombs, and missiles is not fully appreciated. According to statistics compiled by the Center for International Policy’s Security Assistance Monitor, the United States has provided Israel with $63 billion in security assistance over the past two decades, more than 90 percent of it through the State Department’s Foreign Military Financing, which provides funds to buy U.S. weaponry. But Washington’s support for the Israeli state goes back much further. Total U.S. military and economic aid to Israel exceeds $236 billion (in inflation-adjusted 2018 dollars) since its founding — nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars.
King of the Arms Dealers
Donald Trump, sometimes referred to by President Joe Biden as “the other guy,” warmly embraced the role of arms-dealer-in-chief and not just by sustaining massive U.S. arms aid for Israel, but throughout the Middle East and beyond. In a May 2017 visit to Saudi Arabia — his first foreign trip — Trump would tout a mammoth (if, as it turned out, highly exaggerated) $110-billion arms deal with that kingdom.
On one level, the Saudi deal was a publicity stunt meant to show that President Trump could, in his own words, negotiate agreements that would benefit the U.S. economy. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, a pal of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS), the architect of Saudi Arabia’s devastating intervention in Yemen, even put in a call to then-Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson. His desire: to get a better deal for the Saudi regime on a multibillion-dollar missile defense system that Lockheed was planning to sell it. The point of the call was to put together the biggest arms package imaginable in advance of his father-in-law’s trip to Riyadh.
When Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia to immense local fanfare, he milked the deal for all it was worth. Calling the future Saudi sales “tremendous,” he assured the world that they would create “jobs, jobs, jobs” in the United States.
That arms package, however, did far more than burnish Trump’s reputation as a deal maker and jobs creator. It represented an endorsement of the Saudi-led coalition’s brutal war in Yemen, which has now resulted in the deaths of nearly a quarter of a million people and put millions of others on the brink of famine.
And don’t for a second think that Trump was alone in enabling that intervention. The kingdom had received a record $115 billion in arms offers — notifications to Congress that don’t always result in final sales — over the eight years of the Obama administration, including for combat aircraft, bombs, missiles, tanks, and attack helicopters, many of which have since been used in Yemen.
After repeated Saudi air strikes on civilian targets, the Obama foreign-policy team finally decided to slow Washington’s support for that war effort, moving in December 2016 to stop a multibillion-dollar bomb sale. Upon taking office, however, Trump reversed course and pushed that deal forward, despite Saudi actions that Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) said “look like war crimes to me.”
Trump made it abundantly clear, in fact, that his reasons for arming Saudi Arabia were anything but strategic. In an infamous March 2018 White House meeting with Mohammed bin Salman, he even brandished a map of the United States to show which places were likely to benefit most from those Saudi arms deals, including election swing states Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
He doubled down on that economic argument after the October 2018 murder and dismemberment of Saudi journalist and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi at that country’s consulate in Istanbul, even as calls to cut off sales to the regime mounted in Congress. The president made it clear then that jobs and profits, not human rights, were paramount to him, stating:
“$110 billion will be spent on the purchase of military equipment from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and many other great U.S. defense contractors. If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries — and very happy to acquire all of this newfound business. It would be a wonderful gift to them directly from the United States!”
And so it went. In the summer of 2019 Trump vetoed an effort by Congress to block an $8.1-billion arms package that included bombs and support for the Royal Saudi Air Force and he continued to back the kingdom even in his final weeks in office. In December 2020, he offered more than $500 million worth of bombs to that regime on the heels of a $23-billion package to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), its partner-in-crime in the Yemen war.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE weren’t the only beneficiaries of Trump’s penchant for selling weapons. According to a report by the Security Assistance Monitor at the Center for International Policy, his administration made arms sales offers of more than $110 billion to customers all over the world in 2020, a 75 percent increase over the yearly averages reached during the Obama administration, as well as in the first three years of his tenure.
Will Biden Be Different?
Advocates of reining in U.S. weapons trafficking took note of Joe Biden’s campaign-trail pledge that, if elected, he would not “check our values at the door” in deciding whether to continue arming the Saudi regime. Hopes were further raised when, in his first foreign policy speech as president, he announced that his administration would end “support for offensive operations in Yemen” along with “relevant arms sales.”
That statement, of course, left a potentially giant loophole on the question of which weapons would be considered in support of “offensive operations,” but it did at least appear to mark a sharp departure from the Trump era. In the wake of Biden’s statement, arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE were indeed put on hold, pending a review of their potential consequences.
Three months into Biden’s term, however, the president’s early pledge to rein in damaging arms deals are already eroding. The first blow was the news that the administration would indeed move forward with a $23-billion arms package to the UAE, including F-35 combat aircraft, armed drones and a staggering $10 billion worth of bombs and missiles.
The decision was ill-advised on several fronts, most notably because of that country’s role in Yemen’s brutal civil war. There, despite scaling back its troops on the ground, it continues to arm, train and finance 90,000 militia members, including extremist groups with links to the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
The UAE has also backed armed opposition forces in Libya in violation of a United Nations embargo, launched drone strikes there that killed scores of civilians and cracked down on dissidents at home and abroad. It regularly makes arbitrary arrests and uses torture. If arming the UAE isn’t a case of “checking our values at the door,” it’s not clear what is.
To its credit, the Biden administration committed to suspending two Trump bomb deals with Saudi Arabia. Otherwise, it’s not clear what (if any) other pending Saudi sales will be deemed “offensive” and blocked. Certainly, the new administration has allowed U.S. government personnel and contractors to help maintain the effectiveness of the Saudi Air Force and so has continued to enable ongoing air strikes in Yemen that are notorious for killing civilians.
The Biden team has also failed to forcefully pressure the Saudis to end their blockade of that country, which United Nations agencies have determined could put 400,000 Yemeni children at risk of death by starvation in the next year.
In addition, the Biden administration has cleared a sale of anti-ship missiles to the Egyptian regime of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the most repressive government in that nation’s history, helmed by the man Donald Trump referred to as “my favorite dictator.” The missiles themselves are in no way useful for either internal repression or that country’s scorched-earth anti-terror campaign against rebels in its part of the Sinai peninsula — where civilians have been tortured and killed, and tens of thousands displaced from their homes — but the sale does represent a tacit endorsement of the regime’s repressive activities.
Guns, Anyone?
While Biden’s early actions have undermined promises to take a different approach to arms sales, the story isn’t over. Key members of Congress are planning to closely monitor the UAE sale and perhaps intervene to prevent the delivery of the weapons. Questions have been raised about what arms should go to Saudi Arabia and reforms that would strengthen Congress’s role in blocking objectionable arms transfers are being pressed by at least some members of the House and the Senate.
One area where Biden could readily begin to fulfill his campaign pledge to reduce the harm to civilians from U.S. arms sales would be firearms exports. The Trump administration significantly loosened restrictions and regulations on the export of a wide range of guns, including semi-automatic firearms and sniper rifles. As a result, such exports surged in 2020, with record sales of more than 175,000 military rifles and shotguns.
In a distinctly deregulatory mood, Trump’s team moved sales of deadly firearms from the jurisdiction of the State Department, which had a mandate to vet any such deals for possible human-rights abuses, to the Commerce Department, whose main mission was simply to promote the export of just about anything. Trump’s “reforms” also eliminated the need to pre-notify Congress on any major firearms sales, making it far harder to stop deals with repressive regimes.
As he pledged to do during his presidential campaign, Biden could reverse Trump’s approach without even seeking congressional approval. The time to do so is now, given the damage such gun exports cause in places like the Philippines and Mexico, where U.S.-supplied firearms have been used to kill thousands of civilians, while repressing democratic movements and human-rights defenders.
Who Benefits?
Beyond the slightest doubt, a major — or perhaps even the major — obstacle to reforming arms sales policies and practices is the weapons industry itself. That includes major contractors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies and General Dynamics that produce fighter planes, bombs, armored vehicles, and other major weapons systems, as well as firearms makers like Sig Sauer.
Raytheon stands out in this crowd because of its determined efforts to push through bomb sales to Saudi Arabia and the deep involvement of its former (or future) employees with the U.S. government. A former Raytheon lobbyist, Charles Faulkner, worked in the Trump State Department’s Office of Legal Counsel and was involved in deciding that Saudi Arabia was not — it was! — intentionally bombing civilians in Yemen. He then supported declaring a bogus “emergency” to ram through the sale of bombs and of aircraft support to Saudi Arabia.
Raytheon has indeed insinuated itself in the halls of government in a fashion that should be deeply troubling even by the minimalist standards of the twenty-first-century military-industrial complex. Former Trump Defense Secretary Mark Esper was Raytheon’s chief in-house lobbyist before joining the administration, while current Biden Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin served on Raytheon’s board of directors. While Austin has pledged to recuse himself from decisions involving the company, it’s a pledge that will prove difficult to verify.
Arms sales are Big Business — the caps are a must! — for the top weapons makers. Lockheed Martin gets roughly one-quarter of its sales from foreign governments and Raytheon five percent of its revenue from Saudi sales. American jobs allegedly tied to weapons exports are always the selling point for such dealings, but in reality, they’ve been greatly exaggerated.
At most, arms sales account for just more than one-tenth of one percent of U.S. employment. Many such sales, in fact, involve outsourcing production, in whole or in part, to recipient nations, reducing the jobs impact here significantly. Though it’s seldom noted, virtually any other form of spending creates more jobs than weapons production. In addition, exporting green-technology products would create far largerglobal markets for U.S. goods, should the government ever decide to support them in anything like the way it supports the arms industry.
Given what’s at stake for them economically, Raytheon and its cohorts spend vast sums attempting to influence both parties in Congress and any administration. In the past two decades, defense companies, led by the major arms exporting firms, spent $285 million in campaign contributions alone and $2.5 billion on lobbying, according to statistics gathered by the Center for Responsive Politics. Any changes in arms export policy will mean forcefully taking on the arms lobby and generating enough citizen pressure to overcome its considerable influence in Washington.
Given the political will to do so, there are many steps the Biden administration and Congress could take to rein in runaway arms exports, especially since such deals are uniquely unpopular with the public. A September 2019 poll by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, for example, found that 70 percent of Americans think arms sales make the country less safe.
The question is: Can such public sentiment be mobilized in favor of actions to stop at least the most egregious cases of U.S. weapons trafficking, even as the global arms trade rolls on? Selling death should be no joy for any country, so halting it is a goal well worth fighting for. Still, it remains to be seen whether the Biden administration will ever limit weapons sales or if it will simply continue to promote this country as the world’s top arms exporter of all time.

Dacht even dat ik erin zou blijven toen ik vanmorgen de nieuwste publicatie las van Glenn Greenwald, waarin hij schrijft over de ‘wereldtour’ waarmee de VS minister van buitenlandse zaken, Antony Blinken iedereen de les leest over het belang van persvrijheid en onafhankelijke journalistiek, terwijl de Democratische Biden administratie als die van de voormalig president Obama deze persvrijheid sterk hebben ingeperkt en er zelfs voor hebben gezorgd dat de gelauwerde journalist Julian Assange al meer dan twee jaar onder isolatiefolter zit opgesloten in de Britse Belmarsh gevangenis……. Blinken heeft het gore lef te stellen dat onafhankelijke berichtgeving en vrije pers de fundering zijn van een democratisch systeem en dat deze zaken belangrijk zijn voor de VS, ook als ze elders geweld worden aangedaan….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Extra wrang daar wanneer je de woorden van Blinken zou volgen, Assange onmiddellijk vrijgelaten zou moeten worden…..
De Biden administratie wil Assange niet alleen uitgeleverd hebben en vervolgen voor spionage: het openbaren van officiële documenten van de VS overheid en van de Democratische Partij, maar heeft ook nog eens beroep aangetekend tegen de uitspraak van een Britse rechter dan Assange moet worden vrijgelaten….. (nogmaals: terwijl de woorden van Blinken volgend Assange onmiddellijk vrijgelaten zou moeten worden….) Mensenrechten en burgerrechtenorganisaties hebben de Biden administratie verzocht de klacht tegen Assange te laten varen, vooral daar de vervolging van Assange een precedent zou scheppen waarmee de persvrijheid groot gevaar zal lopen, persvrijheid die Blinken geheel hypocriet zegt te verdedigen…..
Overigens was het de Obama administratie die de vervolging van Assange op volle vaart heeft ingezet en destijds vicepremier Biden noemde Assange in 2010 een ‘high tech terrorist…..’ Hare Kwaadaardigheid en oorlogsmisdadiger Hillary Clinton, onder Obama 1 minister van BuZa, ofwel één van de voorgangers van Blinken prees de vervolging van Assange, in eerste instantie vanwege de meer dan belachelijke aanklacht van spionage, maar later ook vanwege de op Wikileaks gepubliceerde mails van 7 vooraanstaande Democratische partijleden, waaruit duidelijk werd dat zij en Clinton in 2016 een smerig spel speelden tegen haar partijcollega en eveneens presidentskandidaat Bernie Sanders, hij werd zonder meer gedwarsboomd in de poging om te worden verkozen tot de officiële presidentskandidaat van de Democraten (natuurlijk t.g.v. Clinton)…….. Clinton en de top van de Democraten hebben van meet af aan gesteld dat Rusland achter de openbaring van die mails zat, uiteraard zonder ook maar één steekhoudend bewijs te leveren (maar waarmee ze wel de aandacht van eigen misdadig gedrag wisten af te leiden)….. Volgens ingewijden moet het een campagnelid van het Clinton team zijn geweest die de bewuste documenten lekte naar Wikileaks, te weten: Seth Rich*, hij werd kort na de openbaarmaking op straat vermoord, de politie hield het op een roofmoord, terwijl geen van zijn sieraden noch geld werden gestolen……
Gezien het voorgaande is het dus ook geen wonder dat het team van Biden en de rest van de Democratische partij achter de vervolging van Assange stonden ten tijde van de Trump administratie, ondanks dat bijvoorbeeld Pompeo er blijk van gaf totaal lak te hebben aan persvrijheid en de bescherming van journalistieke bronnen…….
Kortom het pleidooi van Blinken over persvrijheid en onafhankelijke journalistiek is één grote leugen. Blijkbaar heeft men in de Biden administratie schijt aan wat de waarheid is, zoals elke administratie hiervoor, men maalt er niet om dat de woorden met het grootste gemak worden gelogenstraft, herhaling is het motto, herhaling die als eerste het volk in de VS moet overtuigen van de ‘nobele bedoelingen’ van de Biden administratie, waarbij men hoopt dat de vrienden van de VS niet malen om een leugen meer of minder….. De onbeschofte brutaliteit van de VS kent werkelijk geen grenzen meer, zoals het geweld of beter gezegd : terreur door de VS uitgeoefend in het buitenland geen grenzen meer kent!!!

Continuing his world tour doling out righteous lectures to the world, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday proclaimed — in a sermon you have to hear to believe — that few things are more sacred in a democracy than “independent journalism.” Speaking to Radio Free Europe, Blinken paid homage to “World Press Freedom Day”; claimed that “the United States stands strongly with independent journalism”; explained that “the foundation of any democratic system” entails “holding leaders accountable” and “informing citizens”; and warned that “countries that deny freedom of the press are countries that don’t have a lot of confidence in themselves or in their systems.”
The rhetorical cherry on top of that cake came when he posed this question: “What is to be afraid of in informing the people and holding leaders accountable?” The Secretary of State then issued this vow: “Everywhere journalism and freedom of the press is challenged, we will stand with journalists and with that freedom.” Since I know that I would be extremely skeptical if someone told me that those words had just come out Blinken’s mouth, I present you here with the unedited one-minute-fifty-two-second video clip of him saying exactly this:
That the Biden administration is such a stalwart believer in the sanctity of independent journalism and is devoted to defending it wherever it is threatened would come as a great surprise to many, many people. Among them would be Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the person responsible for breaking more major stories about the actions of top U.S. officials than virtually all U.S. journalists employed in the corporate press combined.
Currently, Assange is sitting in a cell in the British high-security Belmarsh prison because the Biden administration is not only trying to extradite him to stand trial on espionage charges for having published documents embarrassing to the U.S. Government and the Democratic Party but also has appealed a British judge’s January ruling rejecting that extradition request. The Biden administration is doing all of this, notedThe New York Times, despite the fact that “human rights and civil liberties groups had asked the [administration] to abandon the effort to prosecute Mr. Assange, arguing that the case . . . could establish a precedent posing a grave threat to press freedoms” — press freedoms, exactly the value which Blinken just righteously spent the week celebrating and vowing to uphold.
It was the Trump DOJ which brought those charges against Assange after then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo claimed in a 2017 speech that WikiLeaks has long “pretended that America’s First Amendment freedoms shield them from justice,” and then warned: “they may have believed that, but they are wrong.” Pomepo added — invoking the mentality of all states that persecute and imprison those who report effectively on them — that “to give [WikiLeaks] the space to crush us with misappropriated secrets is a perversion of what our great Constitution stands for. It ends now.”
But like so many other Trump policies concerning press freedoms — from defending the Trump DOJ’s use of warrants to obtain journalists’ telephone records, to demanding Edward Snowden be kept in exile, to keeping Reality Winner and Daniel Hale imprisoned — top Biden officials have long been fully on board with Assange’s persecution. Indeed, they have been at the forefront of the effort to destroy basic press freedoms not just for WikiLeaks but journalists generally.
It was Joe Biden who called Assange a “high-tech terrorist” in 2010. It was the Obama administration that convened a years-long grand jury to try to prosecute Assange. It was Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) who urged Assange’s prosecution under the Espionage Act years before Trump was in office. And it was Blinken’s colleague on the Obama national security team, Hillary Clinton, who praised the DOJ for its prosecution of Assange. All of this was intended as punishment for Assange’s revelations of rampant wrongdoing by the U.S. Government and its allies and adversary governments around the world.

How can you run around the world feigning anger over other countries’ persecution of independent journalists when you are a key part of the administration that is doing more than anyone to destroy one of the most consequential independent journalists of the last several decades? Indeed, as numerous journalists warned at the time, there were few, if any, administrations in U.S. history more hostile to basic press freedoms than the Obama administration in which Blinken previously served, including prosecuting double the number of journalistic sources under espionage laws than all previous administrations combined.
In 2013, while Blinken was serving as a high-level official in the State Department, the Committee to Protect Journalists did something very rare — issued a report warning of an epidemic of press freedom attacks by the U.S. Government — and said: “In the Obama administration’s Washington, government officials are increasingly afraid to talk to the press.” The New Yorker‘s Jane Mayer said of the Obama administration’s press freedom attacks: “It’s a huge impediment to reporting, and so chilling isn’t quite strong enough, it’s more like freezing the whole process into a standstill.” James Goodale, the New York Times’ General Counselduring the paper’s battle in the 1970s to publish the Pentagon Papers, warned that “President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom.”
Even the specific “press freedom attack” Blinken referenced in that video interview — namely, Russia’s recent demand that media outlets linked to foreign governments such as Radio Free Europe register as “foreign agents” with the Russian government and pay fines for their failure to do so — is one which Blinken and his comrades have wielded against others for years. Indeed, Russia was responding to the U.S. Government’s previous demand that RT and other Russian news agencies register as “foreign agents” in the U.S., as well as the Biden administration’s escalated attacks just last month on news agencies it claims serves as propaganda agents for the Kremlin.
It is hardly new for the U.S. to dole out lectures which the rest of the world recognizes as complete farces. In 2015, then-President Obama was prancing around India giving lectures on the importance of human rights, only to cut short his trip to fly to Saudi Arabia, where he met numerous top officials of the U.S. Government to pay homage to Saudi King Abdullah, their long-time close and highly repressive ally whose totalitarian regime Obama did so much to fortify.
But galavanting around the world masquerading as the champion of press freedoms and the rights of independent journalists, all while working to extend the confinement and detention of one of the people responsible for much of the most important journalistic revelations of this generation beyond the decade he has already endured, is a whole new level of deceit. “Hypocrisy” is insufficient to capture the craven insincerity behind Blinken’s posturing.
It is always easy — and cheap — to condemn the human rights abuses of your enemies. It is much harder — and more meaningful — to uphold those principles for your own dissidents. Blinken, like so many who preceded him in that Foggy Bottom office, theatrically excels at the former while failing miserably at the latter.

Gisternacht op BBC World Service radio het bericht dat zowel president Biden als zijn minister van BuZa Blinken Rusland de wacht hebben aangezegd te stoppen met de troepenverplaatsing naar de grens met Oekraïne, waarbij psychopaat Blinken zelfs durfde te dreigen…… Alsof Rusland aan de Canadese en Mexicaanse grens staat met de VS, terwijl dat omgekeerd wel het geval is >> de VS en haar oorlogshond NAVO staan langs een groot deel van de Russische westgrens, wat Lavrov Biden eerder al onder de neus wreef en daarbij vinden er bijna het jaarrond militaire oefeningen plaats van de VS en haar NAVO-terreurpartners langs de Russische grens…..
Daarover gesproken: er staat nu een heel grote oefening van de VS en NAVO op til langs die grens….. Alsof Rusland op eigen grondgebied geen troepen mag samentrekken…….. Buiten dat: de VS is NB de grootste agressor ter wereld, je kan daarbij gerust spreken van de grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld……. Vergeet verder niet dat de Russen terecht ongerust worden van die grote NAVO oefening, zeker nadat de Oekraïense neonazi-bataljons daaraan vlak voorafgaand de wapenstilstand in Oost-Oekraïne hebben geschonden en steden en dorpen van de zich van Oekraïne afgescheiden gebieden met zware artillerie bestoken (een ernstige oorlogsmisdaad en dat met wapens die daar volgens de wapenstilstand niet eens mogen zijn…..)…..

Volgens nieuwe ‘richtlijnen’ van de totaal losgeslagen geheime diensten van de VS (meer dan 25!!) is het grootste gevaar dat ‘haar’ burgers te vrezen hebben de volgende landen zijn (in de volgorde): China, Rusland, Iran en Noord-Korea……. ha! ha! ha! ha! Ja, ‘stuk voor stuk landen die de VS al meermaals hebben aangevallen, logisch dus….’ Onbegrijpelijk dat deze diensten vooral de CIA en NSA dergelijke berichtgeving nog durven te brengen, gezien het feit dat ze al zo vaak op leugens zijn betrapt dat je wel blind moet zijn om niet door te hebben dat juist de VS het land is dat op veel plaatsen de stabiliteit letterlijk zwaar geweld heeft aangedaan, geweld? Zeg maar gerust vreselijke terreur, waarbij alleen deze eeuw al meer dan 5 miljoen mensen (inclusief vrouwen en kinderen) zijn vermoord door de VS of in opdracht van de VS door haar NAVO-partners (zoals Nederland) dan wel door heel foute regimes die de VS steunt, neem het bloedige reli-fascistische Saoedi-Arabië…….. (al worden de slachtoffers van de genocide in Jemen niet meegeteld, een genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie met hulp van de VS uitvoert in Jemen: daardoor hebben minstens 500.000 mensen het leven verloren [in feite vermoord], waaronder meer dan 100.000 kinderen…….)
Lullig, maar de meeste VS burgers hebben geen idee en hebben ook niet de tijd dan wel de energie om zich te verdiepen in wat de VS werkelijk uitvreet over de wereld, i.p.v. de leugen die hen continu wordt voorgehouden: ‘democratie en vrede brengen’ en als ze de energie wel hebben lezen de meesten van hen de reguliere (massa-) media en tja die brengen voor zeker 80% regeringsgetrouwe berichten zoals die van de CIA en NSA, ondanks alle bewezen leugens van deze geheime diensten, sterker nog de media nemen de berichten van die geheime diensten nog steeds met grote graagte over, voor veruit het overgrote deel zonder ook maar één letter aan kritiek te leveren, laat staan te controleren of e.e.a. klopt…….. En dan te bedenken dat die media nooit rectificaties hebben geplaatst als achteraf bleek dat ze voor de zoveelste keer het volk hebben voorgelogen……. De reguliere media ind e VS zorgen ervoor dat men werkelijk gelooft dat de VS alleen oorlog voert om gevaar voor de eigen bevolking af te wenden en daarvoor oorlog voert en dat maar al te vaak duizenden kilometers vanaf eigen bodem…….. Angst is dan ook een geweldig instrument om de bevolking eronder te houden, zie de meer dan belachelijke maatregelen tegen het Coronavirus…….
Het voorgaande is dan ook precies de bedoeling van de VS ‘regering’: de bevolking moet zich achter de troepen en de vervloekte vlag scharen en verder braaf belasting betalen…….. Het VS imperium heeft baat bij onwetendheid en armoede, immers dat zorgt voor een continue stroom van mensen die het leger ingaan, daar dit voor evenzo velen de enige mogelijkheid is om een vak te leren………. Wat betreft die armoede: terwijl Joe Biden 750 miljard dollar (nog meer dan Trump!!) wil uitgeven aan oorlogsvoering, lijden in de VS nu al meer dan 14 miljoen kinderen honger…….
De genoemde landen vormen uiteraard totaal geen gevaar voor de VS, maar vrezen op hun beurt volkomen terecht de ongebreidelde agressie van de VS, dat alleen al met sancties verschillende bevolkingen vreselijk geweld aandoet, zo zijn in Venezuela al minstens 50.000 mensen overleden aan de gevolgen die de illegale sancties (dus zonder VN resolutie) die de VS het land heeft opgelegd en in Iran moet het aantal slachtoffers de 10.000 ook al lang zijn gepasseerd….. Gebrek aan voedsel maar vooral aan medicijnen, zaken die de VS zogenaamd nooit sanctioneert, echter ook dat is een leugen van formaat!! Je kan wel zeggen dan haalt men bijvoorbeeld de medicijnen toch elders? Echter de VS chanteert regeringen en bedrijven wereldwijd door te dreigen dat het ofwel het land ook onder sancties zal plaatsen, dan wel bedrijven te verstaan geeft dat wanneer men niet onmiddellijk stopt, de VS hen verder zakendoen onmogelijk zal maken en dat kan de VS daar het bijvoorbeeld het grootste deel van de banken kan dwingen geen zaken meeer te doen met zo’n bedrijf…….. Vergeet niet dat de VS met de dollar, een internationaal betaalmiddel in handen heeft (in feite is de dollar net zo veel waard als de rijksmark in het Duitsland van eind 20er jaren vorige eeuw*)…… De dollar is (nog steeds) leidend in de wereld en het SWIFT betalingssysteem, een systeem voor het internationaal betalingsverkeer, wordt ook door de VS beheert…… (vandaar ook dat de geldmachines in de VS dag en nacht kunnen doordraaien….)
Voorts wordt de dollar nog steeds gebruikt om de olieprijs weer te geven, iets wat de voormalige president van Libië probeerde te ondergraven met de gouden dinar, een munt gedekt door goud en niet als de dollar met lucht….. Het kostte Khadaffi op een vreselijke manier de kop en maakte van het eens rijkste land van Afrika het bijna armste land van dat continent…….. Ofwel de VS oefent op meerdere manieren terreur uit, waarbij de ergste vorm natuurlijk het illegaal oorlog voeren is, één van de grootste oorlogsmisdaden….. Verder heeft de VS middels drones al vele duizenden verdachten zonder enige vorm van proces vermoord en naast die verdachten bestaat meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers door deze terreur uit vooral vrouwen en kinderen, zoals je begrijpt niet eens verdacht van een misdaad……
Caitlin Johnstone heeft een bron bij één van de geheime diensten en die stelt onomwonden dat juist de VS zelfs het grootste gevaar is voor de VS burgers, niet zo vreemd als je het voorgaande hebt gelezen, immers geen land is instaat de VS aan te vallen……
Caitlin schrijft over de gevangenissen van de VS waar 1 op de 5 gevangenen van over de wereld gevangen zit en noemt dat geheel sarcastisch ‘het sociaal opvangnet…….’ (wat het leger daadwerkelijk is!!)
Lees het artikel en geeft het door, tijd dat de wereldbevolking wakker wordt en als de VS een basis heeft op de bodem van een ander land, de bevolking eist dat hier een eind aan wordt gemaakt en de VS militairen het land uit knikkert; de VS heeft ‘maar liefst’ 800 militaire bases over de wereld, waarvan een groot deel rond China en Rusland…….. De VS beschikt nu zelfs over een ‘raketschild’ in Polen en Roemenië, zogenaamd om raketten uit Iran tegen te houden, maar de leugenachtige vereniging van terreurstaten heeft daar raketten die in een mum van tijd kunnen worden uitgerust met meerdere kernkoppen waarmee de VS Russische steden kan aanvallen die gezien de afstand een schending is van het INF-verdrag (dat Rusland zou hebben geschonden aldus de VS, terwijl het haar beschuldiging, een nieuwe Russische raket zou dat verdrag schenden, meermaals heeft geweigerd te controleren en te inspecteren op verzoek van Rusland…..)…..
A new “threat assessment” by the US intelligence cartel has named China the number one threat to the United States today, followed by Russia, Iran, and North Korea. This has of course led to blaring news headlines like “China poses the biggest threat to the U.S., a new intelligence report says” from The New York Times, instead of something a little less propagandistic like “Here’s who the CIA wants you to be afraid of in order to advance its geostrategic power agendas.”
The report makes a bunch of evidence-free assertions which serve no purpose other than to help manufacture consent for the movement of expensive weaponry around the globe at the facilitation of unscrupulous war propaganda firms like The New York Times. Not only that, but I can now report that this US intelligence threat assessment is squarely contradicted by my own intelligence source.
Far from being threatened in any meaningful way by Beijing, Moscow, Tehran or Pyongyang, my intelligence source tells me that the greatest threat facing the United States today is actually the policy and behavior of the US itself.
My source informs me that infinitely more threatening to Americans than China is their own government’s policy of maintaining more and more severe domestic austerity measures and relying on a racist, violent and increasingly militarized police force to bash its most impoverished populations into line instead of simply helping them. The fact that America’s primary system of care for those who fall through the cracks is its immense prison-industrial complex poses a far greater threat to America than Moscow, Iran or North Korea ever will.
“When prison has become your country’s social safety net and you’re incarcerating at a rate unseen anywhere else in the world, it is not the time for you to worry about Kim Jong Un,” the intelligence source tells me.
But this crushing poverty and authoritarianism is necessary when a nation is the hub of a globe-spanning empire and its rulers need to make sure the populace remains too poor, busy and propagandized to begin interfering in the mechanics of the war machine. If Americans began using the power of their numbers to force their political system to cease hemorrhaging money and resources into interminable occupations and ever more expensive acts of military expansionism so that people could be cared for at home, the empire would fall. And that would make the imperialists sad.
According to my source, the real threat to America today is the standing policy of overextending US military commitments in a futile effort to maintain unrivaled unipolar planetary hegemony on a world that is forever out of control while impoverishing and oppressing Americans at home, all to preserve a failed competition-based model of mass-scale human behavior that our species needs to evolve beyond anyway.
Anyone with a brain can see that there is no real threat to the United States from outside US borders. US unipolar domination might be under threat from an ever-changing world in which empires are always temporary. Imperialism’s days might be numbered. Capitalism may be on the way out. But the US itself is not being threatened on the world stage by any foreign actor.
The US government is the one threatening nations with obliteration if they do not obey its dictates, not the other way around. Nobody is threatening America.
Your own intelligence sources will, with some rigorous usage, tell you that the real threat to America comes from oligarchs, imperialists and war profiteers who see the US government and its historically unprecedented military force as a tool for expanding power and wealth no matter what the human cost might be.
We can trust our intelligence sources on that matter my friends. Our story is much better-sourced than any we’ll ever see in The New York Times.

CNN heeft moedwillig anti-Trump propaganda gemaakt: je zal waarschijnlijk denken, nou en, blij dat we van die gek af zijn. Echter vervolgens moet je je afvragen of Joe Biden zo’n groot verschil is t.o.v. Trump. Joe Biden is één van de weinige VS presidenten die al een oorlogsmisdadiger was voor hij aantrad als president, dit vanwege zijn eerdere harde opstelling t.o.v. Rusland en zijn rol als vicepresident onder Obama, die zich als Nobelprijswinnaar voor de Vrede ontpopte als een oorlogsmisdadiger die minstens 2 illegale oorlogen is gestart en verantwoordelijk is voor bloedvergieten in landen waar hij (samen met Biden, Hillary Clinton en haar opvolger John Kerry) democratisch gekozen regeringen met bloedvergieten om zeep heeft geholpen, zoals die in Honduras en Oekraïne…..
Zo zou ik nog wel even door kunnen gaan, bijvoorbeeld over het milieubeleid, waar Obama weliswaar het akkoord van Parijs tekende, maar in werkelijkheid een heel smerig beleid voerde, zo kwam de export van steenkool onder Obama tot een absoluut hoogtepunt en gaf hij zelfs toestemming om grote kolencentrales door VS bedrijven te laten bouwen in landen als Bangladesh (zoals bij het grote natuurgebied Sundarbarns)……
Echter wat CNN heeft gedaan is eindelijk in de openbaarheid gekomen: het op zo’n manier tegenwerken van een zittende president dat deze de verkiezingen heeft verloren, althans daar zal CNN gezien de op een onbewaakt ogenblik gedane uitlatingen van een belangrijke medewerker zeker een belangrijke bijdrage aan hebben geleverd….. Uiteraard was het niet alleen CNN, immers behalve met Fox News had Trump ruzie met bijna alle grote mediaorganen in de VS.
Door de uitlatingen van die medewerker, Charlie Chester, worden meteen alle door de reguliere westerse media gepropageerde samenzweringstheorieën doorgeprikt, theorieën als zouden de beschuldigingen op de sociale media over de reguliere (massa-) media waarin werd en wordt gezegd dat deze in feite ten dienste staan van de zittende neoliberale westerse regeringen berusten op pure onzin….. Anders gezegd: deze beschuldigingen op de sociale media worden eens te meer bevestigd met het verhaal van Chester!! De reguliere media maken zich schuldig aan het maken van ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) en andere manipulaties van de westerse bevolkingen, die in het voordeel zijn van de zittende westerse neoliberale regeringen en van de grote bedrijven, waaronder de grote wapenfabrikanten, die het grootste belang hebben bij zoveel mogelijk oorlog, of dat nu is tegen door de VS gekweekte terreurgroepen dan wel tegen landen die zich niet wensen te onderwerpen aan de VS……..
Volgens Chester is CNN wel uitgepoept als het gaat over het Coronavirus en hij stelt dat CNN zich zal richten op de klimaatverandering, niet omdat men daar inzit over die verandering, maar omdat het hip is en grote bedrijven zich op grote schaal groenwassen (greenwashing) als zou men het beste met de wereld voorhebben, terwijl men achter de schermen gewoon doorgaat op de doodlopende weg, zeg maar zoals wereldvernietigers Shell en Unilever bezig zijn >> naar buiten toe net doen alsof ze uiterst duurzaam bezig zijn, terwijl de werkelijkheid het tegenovergestelde laat zien en zoals je wellicht weet happen de reguliere westerse media maar al te graag toe en dragen deze leugen met verve uit…… (‘logisch ook’ daar die media in handen zijn van plutocraten en investeringsmaatschappijen die er alle belang bij hebben dat dit soort bedrijven het goed blijven doen op de beurs, daar ze grootaandeelhouders zijn in die bedrijven……) De journalisten van die mediaorganen kunnen dan ook al lang niet meer onafhankelijk berichten over zaken van belang, alleen als het de eigenaren goed uitkomt, of als een zaak zo open op straat ligt dat ze wel moeten meegaan in de berichtgeving om geen gebruikers te verliezen….
Gezien het voorgaande is het dan ook niet vreemd dat de journalisten en hoofdredacties van die grote mediaorganen schreeuwen om censuur op de sociale media, waarbij ze de zaken waar ze zichzelf aan beschuldigen: nepnieuws en andere manipulaties gebruiken om de lezers, kijkers en luisteraars op het ‘juiste pad’ te houden daar er tegenwoordig op de sociale media zoveel echte journalisten zijn te vinden die wel de waarheid brengen en onafhankelijk berichten……. En zoals al zo vaak op deze plek opgemerkt: censuur hoort thuis in een dictatuur en elke vorm van censuur die al is doorgevoerd, ook in ons land, is een stap verder in de richting van een dictatuur…….. (zelfs ons leger [LIMC*] scant de sociale media en houdt mensen in de gaten die zich verzetten tegen de huidige status quo of die zich verzetten tegen de belachelijke Coronamaatregelen, een uiterst gevaarlijke ontwikkeling, zoals je zal begrijpen……)

‘We Were Creating A Story — Our Focus Was To Get Trump Out’: CNN Director Busted By Undercover Veritas Operative
A technical director for CNN made the grave error of sitting down with a (probably hot) undercover female journalist from Project Veritas, to whom he admitted that the network “got Trump out” with their coverage, and that he “100% believe(s) that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out.”
“I came to CNN because I wanted to be part of that,” added the director, Charlie Chester.
He then explained how the network engaged in propaganda to ‘create a story’ about Trump vs. Biden.
“[Trump’s] hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical people to tell a story that was all speculation — that he was neurologically damaged, and he was losing it. He’s unfit to — you know, whatever. We were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about. That’s what — I think that’s propaganda,” he said, adding “We would always show shots of him [Biden] jogging and that [he’s] healthy, you know, and him in aviator shades. Like you paint him as a young geriatric.”

Chester went on to say that COVID-19 media coverage should be coming to an end in the near future. He added that CNN is already preparing its shift in coverage to push and promote climate change fear.
“I think there’s a COVID fatigue. So, like whenever a new story comes up, they’re [CNN’s] going to latch onto it. They’ve already announced in our office that once the public is — will be open to it — we’re going to start focusing mainly on climate,” Chester said.
Chester: “It’s going to be our [CNN’s] focus. Like our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that’s what it was, right? So, our next thing is going to be climate change awareness.”
Veritas Journalist:“What does that look like?”
Chester:“I don’t know. I’m not sure. I have a feeling that it’s going to be like, constantly showing videos of decline in ice, and weather warming up, and like the effects it’s having on the economy–”
Veritas Journalist:“Who decides that?”
Chester:“Head of the network.”
Veritas Journalist: “Who is that? Is that [Jeff] Zucker?”
Chester: “Zucker, yeah. I imagine that he’s got his council and they’ve all like, discussed, like where they think–”
Veritas Journalist:“So, that’s like the next–”
Chester: “Pandemic-like story that we’ll beat to death, but that one’s got longevity. You know what I mean? Like there’s a definitive ending to the pandemic. It’ll taper off to a point that it’s not a problem anymore. Climate change can take years, so they’ll [CNN will] probably be able to milk that quite a bit.”

Alsof het weer 2009 is en Barack Obama de kans liet lopen om met een meerderheid in de beide ‘huizen’ van het congres bijtijds belangrijke veranderingen door te voeren, zoals een ziektekostenverzekering voor een veel groter deel van de grote onderlaag in de VS, althans voor een veel groter deel van die bevolking dan wat hij uiteindelijk nog voor elkaar kreeg (en bijvoorbeeld de hervorming van de politie door te voeren zodat die niet langer de garantie zou zijn voor het vermoorden van onevenredig veel gekleurde burgers, wat al heel lang het geval is in de VS)…..
Zo laat Joe Biden de kans lopen om het recht om te kunnen stemmen voor de gekleurde bevolking te garanderen, hetzelfde geldt voor het plan om de in elkaar stortende infrastructuur te renoveren en het leven van de grote onderlaag te verbeteren door bijvoorbeeld een eerlijk minimumloon door te voeren van minstens $ 14.00 per uur…. (tegen dat laatste zijn overigens ook een aantal Democratische politici) En waarom? Simpel omdat de Biden administratie de meer dan achterlijke politieke belemmering door het ‘filibusteren’ kan afschaffen, dan wel dusdanig kan veranderen, zodat belangrijke hervormingen niet langer kunnen worden tegengehouden door bijvoorbeeld het dagenlang voorlezen van telefoonboeken, waardoor een minderheid in het congres het voor elkaar kan krijgen dat een wetsvoorstel van de meerderheid het niet haalt, of zwaar wordt vertraagd…….. (bovendien zou Biden per decreet maatregelen kunnen doorvoeren, zo omzeilt hij het congres)
Terwijl een aantal staten al maatregelen hebben genomen die het voor grote groepen onmogelijk maken om nog te kunnen stemmen (in de zogenaamde democratische VS), je snapt het al, vooral het gekleurde deel van de bevolking wordt daarmee getroffen zodat deze geen gebruik kan maken van haar stemrecht….. Niet voor niets, daar zoals het beest Trump al liet weten: als iedere VS burger zou kunnen stemmen zou de Republikeinse Partij nooit meer aan de macht komen……
Jake Johnson van Common Dreams vraagt zich af waarom de Democraten nu niet doorpakken, daar de kans levensgroot is dat de Republikeinen bij de volgende senaatsverkiezingen in 2022 de meerderheid zullen behalen en daarmee de administratie van Biden deels vleugellam kunnen maken, zoals de Obama administratie overkwam in 2010. En dat zal hoogstwaarschijnlijk gebeuren als de Biden administratie nu niet het stemrecht hervormt voor die verkiezingen…….. Je zou bijna gaan geloven dat de Democraten het wel prima vinden dat bijvoorbeeld de grote gekleurde onderlaag niet het volledige stemrecht krijgt, waar ze volgens de grondwet recht op hebben……
Jake Johnson heeft geen antwoord op zijn vraag, echter een paar maanden geleden schreef Caitlin Johnstone hier al over en voorspelde dat de neoliberale Biden administratie geen belang heeft bij belangrijke hervormingen*.

‘What Are They Waiting For?’ With Voting Rights Under Threat, Dems Pressured to Nuke Filibuster Now

With dozens of Republican-authored voter suppression measures advancing through state legislatures across the country, progressive advocacy groups are imploring Democratic lawmakers to stop dragging their feet and immediately abolish the Senate rule that is obstructing an ambitious plan to shield the franchise from the GOP’s onslaught.
In a joint statement late Wednesday, the Battle Born Collective, Justice Democrats, the Sunrise Movement, and Data for Progress argued that further delaying the fight over the archaic legislative filibuster—which effectively requires 60 votes for most legislation to pass the Senate—risks relegating voting rights and other key priorities “to second-class status.”
“Democrats have a mandate from voters to move forward on their own. There’s no reason to delay abolishing the Senate filibuster,” the groups said. “Delay carries enormous risk, just as it did in 2009.”
The coalition’s warning came as President Joe Biden unveiled the first portion of an infrastructure package that congressional Democrats are preparing to push through the filibuster-proof budget reconciliation process, given the GOP’s vocal opposition to the proposal.
But the progressive groups said that evading the filibuster issue yet again by using the restrictive reconciliation process—which allows legislation to pass with a simple majority—”produces the risk that many elements of the American Jobs Plan will be stripped out by the Senate parliamentarian for not complying with arcane budgetary rules.”
The reconciliation strategy also pushes off a long-overdue filibuster confrontation until the nascent infrastructure package makes its way through Congress and receives a final vote, which could be more than three months away.
Because the For the People Act (H.R.1)—Democrats’ sweeping voting rights expansion bill—would not meet current budget reconciliation requirements, the measure would have to be passed through regular order, an impossible task with the 60-vote filibuster in place and Senate Republicans unified in their opposition to the popular legislation.
That’s why the progressive coalition is urging Senate Democrats to eliminate—or, at the very least, dramatically weaken—the filibuster before pressing ahead with infrastructure legislation. A growing number of Democrats have expressed support for reforming the filibuster in recent weeks, including Biden and conservative Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).
“Moving forward with filibuster reform now will allow the [infrastructure] proposal to pass through regular order, while also clearing the way for the passage of other critical policies like the For the People Act,” the groups note.
Changing or abolishing the filibuster would require the support of the entire Senate Democratic caucus plus a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris.
With the filibuster in place, Mitch McConnell is able to hold up popular, necessary, and urgent legislation like the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act (GFJPA), the Equality Act, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (JLVRAA).
According to the latest tally from the Brennan Center for Justice, 361 bills with voter-suppression provisions have been introduced in 47 states and at least five have been signed into law, including Georgia’s draconian new restrictions.
The Brennan Center argued in an analysis last month that, if passed, the For the People Act would “thwart virtually every single one” of the GOP-led voter suppression efforts at the state level. Manchin is the only Democratic senator who is not listed as a co-sponsor of the legislation.
“The landmark legislation would create a national baseline for voting access that every American can rely on,” the Brennan Center said, “and it would foil state efforts to manipulate voting rules to exclude eligible voters or create discriminatory outcomes.”
But the progressive coalition cautioned Wednesday that if Senate Democrats “delay filibuster reform—and therefore any action on voting rights—until the fall or winter… it will be too late to implement many vital democracy reforms in time to combat gerrymandering or the massive wave of voter suppression Republicans are planning for the 2022 midterms.”
“It’s clear Republicans in Congress don’t want to help pass policies that improve people’s lives, rebuild our nation’s crumbling infrastructure, and meet the scale of the crises we face,” the groups said. “Starting right now, Democrats have a once in a generation opportunity to go big and renew faith in the government’s ability to get real things done. What are they waiting for?”

De Verenigde Staten is sinds haar bestaan bijna elk jaar in oorlog geweest: 227 van de 244 jaar aan geschiedenis………
Onderzoek van anti-oorlog platform CODEPINK heeft uitgewezen dat de VS en de aan haar gelieerde landen (dus ook NAVO landen waaronder Nederland) sinds 2001 het belachelijk grote aantal van 326.000 bommen en raketten heeft afgeworpen resp. afgevuurd in het Midden-Oosten, Libië en Afghanistan….. En dan durft men met droge ogen te beweren dat de terreur op onze straten niets met die illegale oorlogen te maken heeft, want dat zijn deze oorlogen stuk voor stuk….. Een (illegale) oorlog beginnen is één van de ernstigste oorlogsmisdaden en misdaad tegen de menselijkheid, daarmee kan je zonder meer stellen dat de oorlogen die de VS alleen deze eeuw al is aangegaan niet anders moeten worden beoordeeld als grootschalige terreur!! (waarmee niet alleen terreur werd en wordt gekweekt in het westen, maar ook nog eens enorme stromen vluchtelingen op gang werden gebracht…..)
De genoemde landen zijn overigens niet de enige, ook Jemen (waar de VS helpt met een genocide op de sjiitische bevolking, uitgevoerd door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie), Pakistan en Somalië werden getroffen door grootschalige westerse terreur onder leiding van of alleen door de VS…….
Verder moet nog opgemerkt worden dat de bommen en raketten die werden gebruikt bij bombardementen door helikopters (inclusief z.g. gunships) niet zijn meegeteld, ofwel het aantal van 326.000 bommen en raketten ligt waarschijnlijk ver boven de 375.000…….
Als je dacht dat met het voorgaande alles wel gezegd is (alsof dat niet al te schunnig is voor woorden) heb je het mis: de bommen en raketten die de laatste 2 jaar in Irak, Afghanistan en Syrië zijn gebruikt zijn niet meegeteld, omdat die gegevens expres niet meer werden bijgehouden……. Dit met toestemming van Trump en dan durven figuren als zijne BNR lulligheid Bernard Hammelburg te zeggen dat Trump geen goede relatie onderhield met het leger (Pentagon), terwijl hij het Pentagon zelfs toestond om op eigen inzicht meer troepen in te zetten, zonder verantwoording te hoeven afleggen (en ook dat hoefde niet met strakke cijfers te worden weergegeven…..), nee echt een ‘ijskoude en grote afstand’ tussen die 2…….. ha! ha! ha! ha!
Een paar weken geleden gaf oorlogsmisdadiger opa Joe Biden*, de huidige VS president, toestemming Iraanse milities, of milities gelieerd aan Iran te bombarderen, waarbij in een dorp 22 mensen om het leven kwamen, mensen die niets te maken hadden met de strijd…… Bovendien was niet bekend wie de VS bases in Irak hadden belaagd, nee men stak de natte vinger in de lucht en stelde dat het wel Iraanse milities in Syrië moesten zijn, Irak en Syrië beiden landen waar de VS illegaal verblijft….. Het Iraakse parlement heeft de VS en andere buitenlandse troepen vorig jaar verzocht het land onmiddellijk te verlaten, wat de VS botweg weigert en ook Nederland is illegaal in Irak, terwijl de wens van het Iraakse parlement bekend is bij het geteisem van Rutte 3, weigert men opdracht te geven naar huis te gaan……. (‘leuk weetje voor familie’ mochten daar Nederlandse militairen omkomen…..)….. Terwijl VVD, CDA, D66, ChristenUnie en SGP (de laatste steunde en steunt dit flutkabinet) weigeren mensen die voor de oorlog daar op de vlucht zijn geslagen op te nemen in ons land, of sterker nog: als die vluchtelingen hier al zijn, deporteert men hen naar hun moederland met de ‘legitimering’ dat Irak ‘veilig is….’
In Syrië houdt de VS zelfs één derde van het grondgebied bezet, een gebied waar veel olie wordt gevonden, wat de VS verkoopt (!!!), tevens is dat een belangrijke landbouwgebied voor de Syrische voedselvoorziening….. De VN waarschuwde onlangs dat 4,5 miljoen Syriërs al honger lijden en dat dit snel kan oplopen tot 12 miljoen, ofwel 60% van de bevolking, door het bezet houden van dat gebied is de VS verantwoordelijk voor de ontstane honger in dat land, mede veroorzaakt door de sancties die de VS, Canada en de EU dat land illegaal hebben opgelegd (illegaal: niet gesteund door een VN resolutie)….. Door deze illegale sancties wordt er nog amper voedsel van buiten Syrië aangevoerd, hetzelfde geldt voor medicijnen en medische apparaten en al ontkent de VS dat deze zaken onder de sancties vallen, ze worden niet aangevoerd……. (ofwel de VS liegt hier weer eens keihard!!)
Er was vanuit Democratisch links nogal wat commentaar op opa Joe’s beslissing om te bombarderen, daarom heeft deze doortrapte ploert een tweede aanval niet door laten gaan, waarmee hij aan wil tonen dat de VS weliswaar hard optreedt, maar wel rekening houdt met burgers……..

US, Allies Drop 46 Bombs Per Day for 20 Years, Research Reveals
The United States has been at war for nearly every year of its existence as an independent nation, fighting in 227 years of its 244-year history.

March 10, 2021 “Information Clearing House” – – “MPN” – The United States and its allies have dropped at least 326,000 bombs and missiles on countries in the greater Middle East/ North Africa region since 2001. That is the conclusion of new research by Medea Benjamin and Nicolas J.S. Davies of anti-war group CODEPINK.
Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen are the countries that have felt the worst of the violence, but Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Palestine and Somalia have also been targeted. The total amounts to an average of 46 bombs dropped per day over the last 20 years.
CODEPINK’s numbers are based primarily on official U.S. military releases, as well as data from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the Yemen Data Project, and the New America Foundation. As striking as the figure of 326,000 is, it is an underestimate, as the Trump administration ceased publishing figures of its bombing campaigns in 2020, meaning there is no data for Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan for either of the previous two years. Also not counted are bombs or missiles used in helicopter strikes, AC-130 gunship attacks, strafing runs from U.S. bombers, or any counterinsurgency or counter-terrorism operations in other parts of the world.
Tough but nice?
Last week President Joe Biden gave the order to attack Iraqi militias in Syria, dropping 1.75 tons of bombs on a border village and killing 22 people — something that brought cheers from Washington insiders and corporate media pundits alike. The move was reportedly in response to strikes on U.S. military bases in Iraq — bases that, last year, the Iraqi parliament unanimously demanded be closed.
Yesterday, anonymous administration officials claimed that Biden called off a second Syria strike after being warned that women and children were in the area. Though no evidence was offered and the officials refused to go on record, corporate media diligentlyparroted the State Department line, allowing the new administration to simultaneously present itself as getting tough on its enemies and as a champion of human rights.
War, war, and more war
The United States has been at war for nearly every year of its existence as an independent nation, fighting in 227 years of its 244-year history. While both Barack Obama and Donald Trump offered up anti-war rhetoric when they were on the campaign trail, both moved steadfastly away from that position once in office. By 2016, Obama was bombing seven countries simultaneously and had earned the moniker “Drone King.” Trump, meanwhile, escalated the war in Yemen and even carried out the targeted assasination of Iranian leader Qassem Soleimani while he was in Iraq for regional peace talks. The 45th president also authorized the use of the “Mother of All Bombs,” a 21,000 pound (9,500 kg) explosive dropped on Afghanistan’s Nangarhar Province in April 2017.
Many of the Biden administration’s early moves signal that there will be more continuation of than rupture with previous U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. While Biden had pledged to end the U.S. role in Yemen, the State Department’s qualifying language makes it clear that the U.S. is merely returning to Obama’s position on the conflict. Biden promised only to end support for “offensive” Saudi campaigns and limit “relevant” arms sales. Yet his administration immediately began emphasizing and denouncing Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, and reaffirming its commitment to help Riyadh “defend” itself from Houthi aggression. U.S. envoy Timothy Lenderking even went so far as to praise Saudi Arabia for its “generous support over the decades for the people of Yemen.”

On Israel, Biden has fully supported Trump’s decision to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem, a controversial move effectively approving the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Today, Vice-President Kamala Harris had a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which she reaffirmed the White House’s “unwavering commitment” to Israel and its security.
Meanwhile, on Iran, Biden has dragged his feet on lifting sanctions and returning to the negotiating table to bring the U.S. back to the nuclear deal Trump abandoned. He also framed his Syria attack as a “message” to Iran.
Despite its spending almost as much as every other country combined on defense, the impact of war is largely unfelt in the United States. As Benjamin and Davies write: “The American public and the world are left almost completely in the dark about the death and destruction our country’s leaders keep wreaking in our name.” With studies such as this one, CODEPINK hopes to change that fact.

GlennGreenwald heeft een uitgebreid artikel over deze zaak gepubliceerd op zijn site, waarin hij begint met het analyseren van de leugen gebracht door geheime diensten en de reguliere (massa-) media in de VS over de het lekken van gegevens afkomstig van de laptop van Hunter Biden, die in handen kwam van de New York Post.
De New York Post publiceerde documenten van deze laptop waaruit bleek dat Hunter Biden en andere familieleden misbruik maakten van de naam Joe Biden (die immers eerder vicepresident was onder oorlogsmisdadiger Obama) om zaken te doen met Oekraïne, China en andere landen.
Voormalige hooggeplaatsten van de CIA en leden van andere geheime diensten in de VS, stelden dat het om Russische desinformatie ging….. Twitter en Facebook besloten daarop de New York Post de toegang tot hun platform te ontzeggen……. John Brennan, CIA directeur onder Obama, heeft samen met de al aangehaalde figuren uit de geheime diensten een brief opgesteld waarin men stelde dat de zaak alle kenmerken had van Russische informatie operaties….. Hoewel dezelfde figuren benadrukten dat ze niet wisten of de gepubliceerde e-mails echt waren en dat ze geen bewijs hadden van Russische manipulatie…… (moet je nagaan….)
Echter deze toevoeging was voor de media die deze leugen brachten geen reden om in te binden, integendeel men ging gewoon door en Facebook stelde zelfs een algoritme in te zetten om berichtgeving over deze zaak tegen te houden……. En dan te bedenken dat eerder een zogenaamde Russische trollenfarm zich in de VS bevond, terwijl al lang bekend is uit publikaties van de Wikileaks Vault 7 documenten dat de VS op grote schaal hackt en daarbij cyberterreur begaat en spioneert maar dat op een slimme manier kan doen lijken alsof bijvoorbeeld Rusland, China, Iran, of Noord Korea de dader is…….
Glenn Greenwald, van The Intercept, die wel over deze zaak berichtte,werd terechtgewezen door zijn meerderen die hem wilden dwingen om passages over Biden weg te laten,waarop zijn artikel niet werd geplaatst en Greenwald besloot The Intercept te verlaten.
Het is zelfs zo zot dat een redacteur van de Washington Post stelde dat ‘we de Hunter Biden lekken moeten behandelen alsof ze van een buitenlandse geheime dienst komen, zelfs als ze dat waarschijnlijk niet zijn……’ (knettergek!!) De enige keer dat de regering van de VS reageerde op deze zaak, middels de Director of National Intelligence (DNI), stelde deze dat Bidens laptop geen deel uitmaakt van een Russische desinformatie campagne……….
Ach het is een herhaling van zetten in de Russiagate leugen, ook daarvoor is totaal geen bewijs geleverd, echter men houdt gewoon driftig vol dat dit wel zo is, overigens ook in de rest van het westen, waaronder Nederland….. Gistermorgen op BNR rond 8.51 u. de meer dan belachelijke ‘buitenlanddeskundige’ Hammelburg, deze enorme flapdrol (letterlijk en figuurlijk) sprak over de uitlating van Biden dat Putin een moordenaar is. Daarbij noemde hij Sputnik de ‘roeptoeter van de Russische overheid’, gelul >> op Sputnik wordt wel degelijk kritiek geleverd op de overheid, maar zelfs als dat zo zou zijn, zie de VS, waar niet 1 of 2 mediaorganen de overheid zouden dienen als roeptoeter, maar een hele reeks, van de New York Times tot CNN en daarvoor is een dossierkast aan bewijzen te leveren…..
Volgens Biden (en Hammelburg) is Putin een moordenaar als het gaat om Navalny…… Als Putin de neonazi Navalny had willen laten vermoorden was deze bewezen misdadiger al lang en breed onder de zoden verdwenen, bovendien kan deze ploert niet zijn vergiftigd met novitsjok daar hij dan dood zou zijn, immers een vergiftiging daarmee is zonder meer dodelijk voor iedereen die er onbeschermd mee in aanraking komt!!! Hammelburg durfde NB nog te stellen dat Putin ook een moordenaar is vanwege het ontwikkelen in Rusland van biologische en chemische wapens…… ha! ha! ha! ha! (vanmorgen herhaalde Hammelburg zijn leugens op BNR waar hij nu ook de Skripals aan toevoegde….)
Er zijn 3 naties op de wereld die deze wapens vrij openlijk ontwikkelen en dat zijn de VS (o.a. in Fort Detrick), Israël en Egypte….. In juli 2019 ontsnapte er ‘een virus’ uit één van de leger laboratoria van Fort Detrick, waarop de basis werd ontruimd….. Een paar maanden later vonden de militaire wereldspelen plaats in het Chinese Wuhan en nog een paar maanden later werden de eerste gevallen van het Coronavirus gevonden in Frankrijk, hoewel men dat toen nog niet wist, een herbeoordeling van stalen bloed, afgenomen in november 2019 toonden aan dat deze mensen het… Coronavirus onder de leden hadden…. Pas meer dan een maand laten, dus eind december 2019 werd het eerste geval van Coronavirus ontdekt in China……… Ra ra hoe is het allemaal mogelijk?? Intussen is zelfs bekend geworden dat het Coronavirus al eerder werd gevonden in later opnieuw beoordeelde bloedmonsters……
Uiteraard herhaalde Hammelburg het verhaal van de geheime diensten in de VS alsof Rusland, China, Iran e.a. de verkiezingen in de VS hadden gemanipuleerd of daar een poging toe hadden ondernomen……. Zoals Hammelburg nog steeds overtuigd is dat Russiagate bewezen is….. ha! ha! ha! Ha! Deze mislukte zakkenwasser zou eens andere moeten contacteren als hij weer eens een lulpraatje vertelt voor de radio!! (hij gaf een aantal maanden gelden toe dat hij vrijwel altijd ‘deskundigen’ raadpleegt voor zijn columns en ander gekoekwaus…… Hé Hammelburg tijd voor echte deskundigen en eigen onderzoek, waarbij je eens zou moeten zoeken of er bewijzen zijn voor wat je durft te beweren, enorme hufter!!! (vorig jaar durfde hij mensen die gebruik maken van de sociale media neer te zetten als kakkerlakken, je weet wel zoals de nazi’s over minderheden spraken die ze het liefst wilden uitroeien…….)

Eager to obtain vindication for the pre-election falsehood they spread about the Hunter Biden story, journalists falsely claim that the CIA blamed Russia for it.

Journalists with the largest and most influential media outlets disseminated an outright and quite significant lie on Tuesday to hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions, on Twitter. While some of them were shamed into acknowledging the falsity of their claim, many refused to, causing it to continue to spread up until this very moment. It is well worth examining how they function because this is how they deceive the public again and again, and it is why public trust in their pronouncements has justifiably plummeted.
The lie they told involved claims of Russian involvement in the procurement of Hunter Biden’s laptop. In the weeks leading up to the 2020 election, The New York Post obtained that laptop and published a series of articles about the Biden family’s business dealings in Ukraine, China and elsewhere. In response, Twitter banned the posting of any links to that reporting and locked The Post out of its Twitter account for close to two weeks, while Facebook, though a long-time Democratic operative, announced that it would algorithmically suppress the reporting.
The excuse used by those social media companies for censoring this reporting was the same invoked by media outlets to justify their refusal to report the contents of these documents: namely, that the materials were “Russian disinformation.” That claim of “Russian disinformation” was concocted by a group of several dozen former CIA officials and other operatives of the intelligence community devoted to defeating Trump. Immediately after The Post published its first story about Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine that traded on his influence with his father, these career spies and propagandists, led by Obama CIA Director and serial liar John Brennan, published a letter asserting that the appearance of these Biden documents “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
News outlets uncritically hyped this claim as fact even though these security state operatives themselves admitted: “We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails…are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement — just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case.” Even though this claim came from trained liars who, with uncharacteristic candor, acknowledged that they did not “have evidence” for their claim, media outlets uncritically ratified this assertion.
This was a topic I discussed extensively in October when I announced my resignation from The Intercept after senior editors — for the first time in seven years — violated the contractual prohibition on editorial interference in my journalism by demanding I significantly alter my reporting about these documents by removing the sections that reflected negatively on Biden. What I found particularly galling about their pretense that they have such high-level and rigorous editorial standards — standards they claimed, for the first time ever, that my article failed to meet — was that a mere week prior to their censorship of my article, they published an article by a different journalist which, at a media outlet we created with the explicit purpose of treating government claims with skepticism, instead treated the CIA’s claims of “Russian disinformation” as fact. Even worse, when they quoted the CIA’s letter, they omitted the part where even those intelligence agents acknowledged that they had no evidence for their assertion. From The Intercept on October 21:
Their latest falsehood once again involves Biden, Ukraine, and a laptop mysteriously discovered in a computer repair shop and passed to the New York Post, thanks to Trump crony Rudy Giuliani….. The U.S. intelligence community had previously warned the White House that Giuliani has been the target of a Russian intelligence operation to disseminate disinformation about Biden, and the FBI has been investigating whether the strange story about the Biden laptop is part of a Russian disinformation campaign. This week, a group of former intelligence officials issued a letter saying that the Giuliani laptop story has the classic trademarks of Russian disinformation.
Oh my, marvel at those extremely rigorous editorial standards: regurgitating serious accusations from ex-CIA operatives without bothering to note that they were unaccompanied by evidence and that even those agents admitted they had none. But, as they usually do these days, The Intercept had plenty of company in the corporate media.
That those materials were “Russian disinformation” became so reflexively accepted by the U.S. media that it became the principal excuse to ignore and even censor the reporting, and it also helpfully handed the Biden campaign an easy excuse to avoid answering any questions about what the documents revealed. “I think we need to be very, very clear that what he’s doing here is amplifying Russian misinformation,” said Biden Deputy Campaign Manager Kate Bedingfield when asked about the prospect that Trump would raise the Biden emails at the debate. From the CIA’s lips to the mouths of corporate journalists into the hands of the Biden campaign.
As the U.S. media disseminated this “disinformation” tale, nobody — including the Bidens — has ever claimed let alone demonstrated that a single document was anything other than genuine — something that would be exceedingly easy to do if the documents were fraudulent. “The Biden team has rejected some of the claims made in the NY Post articles,but has not disputed the authenticity of the [laptop] files upon which they were based,” acknowledgedThe New York Times. Ample evidence corroborates that the documents are genuine.
As for the claims of Russian involvement in the laptop story, there was never any evidence for it: none. The CIA operatives who invented that storyline acknowledged that. The week that tale emerged, The New York Timesreported that “no concrete evidence has emerged that the laptop contains Russian disinformation” and the paper said even the FBI has “acknowledged that it had not found any Russian disinformation on the laptop.” The Washington Post published an op-ed by Russia fanatic Thomas Rid who candidly pronounced: “We must treat the Hunter Biden leaks as if they were a foreign intelligence operation — even if they probably aren’t.” And the only time the U.S. Government has ever spoken on this question was when the Director of National Intelligence stated: “Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”
These documents raised important questions about the presidential frontrunner’s knowledge of or participation in his family members’ attempt to profit off of their association with him, questions implicating his integrity, ethics and honesty. Yet those documents were suppressed by a gigantic fraud, perpetrated by the CIA and their media allies, which claimed that the documents were forged and that they came from Russia.
That is the critical context for the lie spread yesterday by numerous mainstream journalists. On Tuesday morning, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declassified a short 12-page report entitled “Foreign Threats to the U.S. 2020 Elections.”
It reviewed the actions of numerous countries with regard to the 2020 election. The intelligence community claimed — without presenting any evidence whatsoever — that “Russian President Putin authorized…influence operations aimed at denigrating President Biden’s candidacy and the Democratic Party, supporting former President Trump, undermining public confidence in the electoral process, and exacerbating sociopolitical divisions in the U.S.” The New York Times’ largely credulous article about this report contained this admission, one you would think (or, rather, hope) would matter to journalists: “The declassified report did not explain how the intelligence community had reached its conclusions about Russian operations during the 2020 election.”
Despite that glaring omission, media outlets predictably treated the evidence-free assertions from the security state as fact. “Vladimir Putin did it again,” trumpetedMother Jones’ David Corn without an iota of skepticism. CNN’s Marshall Cohen actually said this:

The report confirms what was largely assumed, and barely hidden, last year: Trump and his allies publicly embraced Russia’s disinformation campaign against Biden, met with Kremlin-tied figures who were part of the effort, and promoted their conspiracies
Think about that: to a CNN reporter, evidence-free assertions from the U.S. security state are tantamount to “confirmation.” That they really do think this way is nothing short of chilling. But that is the standard liberal media posture of harboring reverence for the U.S. intelligence community and treating its every utterance as Truth without the need for any corroborating evidence. It is one of their defining attributes.
But in this case, many of them went far beyond mere regurgitation of CIA claims. Well beyond it: here, they fabricated a claim that report also demonstrated that the Hunter Biden laptop materials were — as they claimed before the election engineered by Russia. In reality, the report did not even mention the Hunter Biden laptop materials or allude to it, let alone claim that it was produced by the Kremlin, let alone supply evidence that it constituted “Russian disinformation.” But no matter: numerous journalists united to spread the false claim far and wide that the report confirmed this storyline.
The first journalist to publish the falsehood was Patrick Tucker, an editor at the journal Defense One. The tweet quickly went viral as liberals clicked “retweet” and “like” so fast that at least several of them likely suffered digital cartilage damage or at least a mild sprain:
The claim that this report corroborated Russian involvement in the Hunter laptop story picked up significant steam when MSNBC host Chris Hayes endorsed it to his 2.3 million followers:
From there, the claim was further spread by Hayes’ NBC News colleague Ben Collins, who — ironically — works in what the network calls the “disinformation unit,” combatting the spread of disinformation (by which Collins means tattling on 4Chan teenagers and Facebook boomers, while never challenging the lies of real power centers such as those from the intelligence community; those lies are ones he amplifies):
With this MSNBC host and the NBC disinformation agent on board, it was off to the races. Journalists from across the corporate media sphere spread this lie over and over. Here was CNN’s Asha Rangappa:
Perhaps the most embarrassing example was from S.V. Daté, the White House correspondent of HuffPost which, just last week, had dozens of its reporters laid off perhaps because, while they have numerous talented reporters, this is the sort of thing they routinely do, causing them to lose trust among the public. Daté did not just repeat the lie but used it to mock those who actually did the reporting on these documents (note that the section he underlined in red says nothing about the Hunter Biden documents, nor does it say anything about Russia other than it “amplified” various news stories):

As this false claim went massively viral, conservativejournalists — and only they — began vocally objecting that the report made no mention whatsoever of the Hunter Biden laptop, let alone supplied proof for this claim. That is because, with a few noble exceptions (such as The Washington Post’s media critic ErikWemple), liberal journalists at corporate outlets will eagerly endorse but never denounce or correct each other’s falsehoods. For that reason, if you confine yourself to the liberal corporate media bubble, and refuse to follow conservative journalists as well, you will be propagandized and deceived.
Hayes, to his credit, was one of the only journalists who helped spread this falsehood and then quickly retracted it. He first acknowledged that, upon reading the report, it did not appear that it actually made any reference to the Hunter laptop, and then announced he would delete his original tweet, conceding that the original claim was false. Note how the original false claims go mega-viral, while the tweets which subsequently acknowledge their falsity are seen by very few people:
With one of his earliest boosters having jumped ship, Tucker himself, the originator of this lie, first began backtracking while vowing he would never delete the tweet, only to then relent and delete it, acknowledging its falsity. Again compare the meager audience that learns of the backtracking and acknowledgment of falsity compared to the huge number exposed to the original false claim:

I’ve deleted a tweet that suggested that a recent ODNI report made explicit reference to the Hunter Biden laptop story. It makes reference to Andrii Derkach, a pro-Russian Ukrainian politician who was trafficking information remarkably similar to what showed up in the Post report
Thanks to multiple journalists with large platforms spreading Tucker’s original false tweet, it received thousands upon thousands of likes and re-tweets. So, too, did the tweets of other journalists that false claim, such as the one from HuffPost’s White House Correspondent and this one from one of David Brock’s goons specifically claiming that the security state’s evidence-free report somehow proves that my pre-election reporting on it was wrong. Yet Tucker’s announcement that he was deleting his tweet on the ground that the report does not make “explicit reference to the Hunter Biden laptop story” has a grand total of three retweets.
Indeed, other than Hayes, it is difficult to find a journalist who acknowledged that what they spread was a lie. Both CNN’s Rangappa and NBC News’ Collins simply allowed the tweet to quietly disappear from their timeline when Tucker finally deleted his, saying nothing to the thousands or tens of thousands of people they misled. Meanwhile, the tweet from HuffPost’s Daté is still up a full twenty-four hours after the key journalists who spread this have acknowledged it was false.
Do you see how they behave? Take a look. Prior to the election, out of desperation to ensure that Biden won, they censored and maligned this reporting by mindlessly endorsing an assertion from life-long CIA operatives that never had any evidence: ignore these documents; they are Russian disinformation. They not only invoked that claim to justify ignoring the story but also to successfully agitate for its censorship by Twitter and Facebook. So they spent weeks spreading an utter lie in order to help the candidate that they favored win the election. Remember, these are journalists doing that.
Then, yesterday, the intelligence community issued a report that does not even purport to contain any evidence: just assertions. And they all jumped to treat it as gospel: no questioning of it, no skepticism, no demands to see evidence for it, not even any notation that no evidence was provided. They just instantly enshrined claims from the CIA and NSA as Truth. How can you possibly be a journalist with even minimal knowledge of what these agencies do and look in the mirror as you do this?
But so much worse, in this case, they just outright lied about what the report said — just fabricated assertions that the report did not even allude to, in order to declare their lies from last October to be vindicated. Even if this report had asserted that the Hunter Biden laptop materials were manufactured by the Kremlin, that would prove nothing. Evidence-free assertions from the U.S. intelligence community merit skepticism, not blind faith — especially from people calling themselves journalists.
But the report did not even claim that. And when some of them realized this, they did virtually nothing to rectify the severe disinformation they had spent the day spreading. These are the people who claim to be so profoundly opposed to conspiracy theories and devoted to combating “disinformation”; as usual, they are the ones who spread disinformation most recklessly and frequently.
The fact that the false tweet from HuffPost’s White House correspondent is still up is quite revealing, given that that outlet just had to lay off a significant portion of its staff. As newly arrived Substack writer Michael Tracey wrote in his first article on this platform (headlined: “Why Journalists Hate Substack”), journalists are very good at lamenting when their outlets are forced to lay off journalists but very poor at examining whether the content their outlet is producing may be part of why it is failing:
So when you see another round of layoffs, followed by another round of exasperated Twitter lamentation about how horrible the industry is, you have to wonder if these rituals ultimately function as an excuse for journalists to forgo any kind of real self-examination. For instance, why it is that the media organizations they inhabit always seem to be in a constant state of free-fall? Sure, there are economic factors at play that the journalists themselves cannot control. But it would seem to behoove these journalists to maybe spend a little bit less time complaining in the abstract about the depredations of “the industry”—as though they are its hapless, beleaguered casualties—and a little bit more time analyzing whether they have contributed to the indisputable reality that huge cross-sections of the public distrust and despise the media.
There are multiple potential explanations for this dynamic worth considering. Maybe it’s the tedious hyper-partisanship and weirdly outdated content aggregation tactics that much of the online media still employs. Maybe it’s the constant five-alarm-fire tone and incessant hyping of overblown threats that was characteristic of the Trump years. Maybe it’s some combination of all these and more—but you won’t see many axed journalists offering up any kind of critical introspection, because when the layoffs arrive it can never have anything to do with their own ideological myopia or other shortcomings.
Indeed, when anyone, including journalists, loses their job, it is lamentable. But when one witnesses behavior like what these journalists did yesterday, the only confounding part of the collapse of this part of the media industry is that it is not happening even more quickly and severely.

In werkelijkheid is het juist het westen die zich aan de hiervoor beschreven zaken beschuldigt, tot en met het hacken en tappen van computers en telefoons, zelfs van bevriende staatshoofden, daarvoor bestaan inmiddels meters aan dossiers (niet in de laatste plaats op Wikileaks) en wat betreft de films en tv series behoef je alleen maar een fiks gedeelte van de films en series te zien die de publieke en commerciële tv kanalen in ons land uitzenden…..
De VS een gevaar voor de vrede? Jazeker het is zelfs zo dat de meeste ‘conflicten’ (lees illegale oorlogen, opstanden en staatsgrepen) over de aardbol werden en worden begonnen door de VS, waarbij de VS en haar oorlogshond de NAVO deze eeuw al meer dan 5 miljoen mensen hebben vermoord….. Zoals in de kop al vermeld: de VS heeft meer dan 800 militaire bases over de wereld, reken maar eens uit hoeveel militaire bases Rusland en China buiten hun grenzen hebben en je bent snel klaar: nul komma nada!! (al heeft Rusland nu een paar bases in Syrië, ingegeven door de westerse agressie in dat land, waar de VS haar zoveelste illegale oorlog begon, voorbereid vanaf 2006….)
De VS zegt voor vrede, veiligheid en democratie te vechten, echter de praktijk laat een heel ander gezicht zien, zo steunt de VS zelfs de genocide die de Saoeiscdhe terreurcoalitie in Jemen uitvoert en dat zowel politiek als militair……. (ook onder oorlogsmisdadiger Joe Biden…)
In het volgende artikel van CounterPunch gaat Paul Atwood veel verder in op deze zaken, lees het duidelijke schrijven van Atwood en zegt het voort, de westerse wereld moet uit haar door de VS veroorzaakte coma ontwaken en eindelijk actie ondernemen tegen deze psychopathisch fascistische vereniging van terreurstaten, die zelfs het voortbestaan van de mens in de waagschaal stelt, niet voor niets is de VS de grootste terreurentiteit op ons aller thuis de aarde!! Atwood haalt een uitspraak aan van William Perry, minister van defensie van 1994 tot 1997, die stelt dat we dichter bij een nucleaire holocaust staan dan ooit tevoren, Atwood beëindigt zijn schrijven dan ook met de vraag of we op de rand van totale vernietiging staan……
Last week General Tod Wolder, top gun of the U.S. European Command, declared that “Russia remains an enduring existential threat to the United States and our European allies.” On February 23 President Biden’s choice for Central Intelligence Director, William Burns, testified that “adversarial, predatory Chinese leadership poses our biggest geopolitical test…out-competing China will be key to our national security in the days ahead…requiring intensified focus and urgency.” Newly minted Secretary of Defense, former 4-star General Lloyd Austin, chimed in that China posed the “most significant threat” to the U.S. Military.
Well, which malicious “adversary” is it? Will the Putinoids shortly sink the next American vessel to transit the Black or Barents Seas? Are the ever more malevolent Chinese aiming their new supersonic missile ship killers at the next U.S. carrier to transit the straits of Taiwan?
The Pentagon’s push for “full spectrum dominance” was extolled in the 1990s and it has proceeded full speed. Peace President Obama , having won the Nobel prize before doing anything peaceable, soon asserted his “pivot to the east” in fear of growing Chinese economic and military power. He also initiated the $1 trillion nuclear expansion program, stage managed the bombing and destruction of Libya, and armed the Saudi war in Yemen. Trump may have come close to nuclear war with North Korea but that issue is still on the burner. Not long ago the Pentagon called for a $100 billion development of missiles better able to carry and target nuclear weapons. Last week the U.S. Airforce dispatched B-1 Bombers to Norway that now overfly the Russian base in the Baltic and earlier deployed combat Marine units there as well. Recall that American armed forces are now stationed along Russia’s very borders and the NATO Alliance has essentially encircled Russia and now keens that it must urgently confront the Chinese peril.
It is estimated that the United States spends 40% of the global total devoted to arms purchases. The real military budget is far in excess of the official figure, given numerous secret projects off limits to Congressional inquiry or oversight. Washington easily outspends Russia and China combined. What evidence exists that these two “adversaries” plan any military actions against the U.S.? While we are at it let’s consider the fact that no enemy has invaded the U.S. since 1812, nor is it possible for any country to do. So, what IS the threat? Why are the national security mandarins fixated on military threats? What else could their deliberate employment of the term “existential” mean, especially when their response is to mount and deploy more military hardware to the national boundaries of the antagonists they cultivate?
Russia has sought to dominate its respective sphere for a millennium and China for at least four millennia, both without any indication they are intent on military global dominance. The U.S. has been doing the same in the Western hemisphere by contrast for slightly more than two centuries and, like a punk adolescent, now believes itself the toughest guy on the geo-political block. The fact of the matter is that neither U.S. opponent threatens the U.S. They don’t station troops on the Mexican border or sail their fleets within sight of Guantanamo or build bases and station troops all over the planet. Primarily they oppose the declared American agenda of global dominance economically and politically, and they certainly are rapidly developing their own capacities for military response to the threat they perceive from the U.S. They do arm and support their own allies, and so does Washington and far more of them.
The only real existential jeopardies to Americans and the rest of the world are the proliferated nukes and from climate change and the stream of critical emergencies for all societies that are sure to ensue, and the intergroup violence that will exacerbate nationalist paranoias and provide fuel for more war. The current Pentagon call for improved nuclear missiles should illuminate, but woefully does not, the very authentic existential menace that imperils us more critically by the hour. That is if the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is to be taken seriously. But who pays attention to them?
Obviously neither Russia nor China are innocent of crimes against other peoples. But crucially for our collective future is full acknowledgement that neither is the United States. The American public education system writ large teaches most students that their government has been opposed to both Russia and China for the last century because their communist or otherwise totalitarian system deprives their citizens of the freedoms and rights Americans value most and has always posed “threats” to the American way of life. How many pupils have ever learned of the military incursion ordered by President Wilson in tandem with Britain and Japan into Russia in 1918 in hope of strangling the communist infant in its cradle? Had Russian troops ever been on U.S. soil youngsters would learn that fact on the first day of the first grade. How many learn of the incursion of American forces in China at the dawn of the 20th century to throttle a Chinese rebellion against ever increasing western occupation of their land? How many become aware that the U.S threatened to nuke China during the Korean War? Why should we be surprised that both nations have employed their resources to attempt to match and contest the threats they feel from the U.S.?
Flashback to 1940. FDR, the president of the “neutral” U.S., orders covert naval actions in the North Atlantic in support of the British war against the Nazis. He anticipates that if an American vessel is attacked, or sunk, the outrage will tip the public toward acceptance of war. Earlier he has deployed the Pacific Fleet to Hawaii knowing full well that Japan will see this as a threat to the empire it is building in East Asia and so demands its withdrawal from China (or else!) and embargoes Japanese oil and steel, certain that the land of the rising sun will be forced to seek the indispensable fuel and other resources in the Dutch East Indies and French IndoChina. These measures are intended to provoke war. “Sooner or later” he avers, “the Japanese will make a move that will lead to war. “ In fact, American cryptographers have broken large parts of Japanese secret ciphers and know that Japan has decided on war. Key figures in the U.S. government have prior knowledge of the attack to come at Pearl Harbor. On November 25 FDR tells his top advisers that we are “likely to be attacked as soon as next Monday.” On December 6 the last coded transmission to Tokyo by Japanese spies reads” All clear…no barrage balloons (air defenses) are up…there is an opportunity for a surprise attack against these places.” That same evening before the attack at Pearl harbor Roosevelt tells his closest aid. “This means war.” No warning of imminent assult is sent to commanders in Hawaii. The sacrifice of more than 2000 American lives, and subsequently another 400,000, will be the price of entry into World War II and the consequent prize of American ascendancy.
Of course, at the war’s outset no American planner believed that the entire planet was in existential danger and they also were positive that the U.S. would not suffer the invasions or aerial bombings faced by all the other belligerents. The real reasons the U.S. decided on war, all blather about human rights and “democracy” to the contrary, involved the danger to the American economy in a world shut off to American capital penetration at the moment then of the world’s most critical economic slump. The minor measures of social democracy enacted throughout the Great Depression had failed so war production was the answer. The Third Reich and Japan posed every probability of creating autarkic zones that would all but shut out American access to markets, resources and cheap labor. The Soviet Union had already done too much of that and since the late 19th Century the U.S. had visualized the “Great China Market.” Japan’s takeover of East Asia precluded that blueprint and threatened to forestall the “American century.”
Well, we know the outcome. Although Japan was seeking surrender so long as the Emperor would not be tried as a war criminal, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were vaporized anyway. FDR had condemned the deliberate targeting of civilians by the other belligerents before the U.S. entered the war but that was then. What the Brits called the “Great Game” of empire proceeds apace. Americans certainly learned little from the most dangerous conflict in the species history. Soon to follow: Korea, Vietnam, Central America, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen and many others now all but forgotten.
Daniel Ellsberg in an interview with The Real News two years ago asserted that it was not the Allied bombing campaign over Germany that thwarted Nazi development of the atomic bomb but, startlingly, that Hitler himself ordered the nascent project to be dropped. Why? Because he grasped the essential fact that the development of such weapons, what Ellsberg calls the ”Doomsday machine” writ large, would lead to all out nuclear war and the cessation of the human experiment on our planet, and necessarily his plans for the 3rd Reich. Apparently he was still naïve enough to think another emerging power would not initiate the preparations for the final day of reckoning, soon to be followed by nine other players, more than enough nukes to accomplish the mission.
These questions beg the real issues, which are that both Russia and China are much the same economic and power obstacles to the “liberal world order” that Germany and Japan did Washington has always claimed to desire and promote but which serves as camouflage and decoy for the real ambition which, to repeat, is Full Spectrum Dominance, a fool’s errand if ever there was. There is nothing humane or liberal about the global order the U.S. desires since the term is proclaimed to mean that democracy and human rights and “free trade” are the paramount values at stake. Tell that to a long list of those who have been favored with America’s paternal care since 1945 wherein the total numbers of deaths are in the millions. As for “existential threat,” the only real such hazard is the increasing probability that the mounting preparations for conflict in the immediate spheres of our “enemies” will result in some spark that will trigger all out war and escalation to species extinction. The geo-political adolescents who wield the power in our country are consumed with its arrogance and all but negate the authentic existential millstone that hangs weightier by the day.
Since our leaders learned nothing from the Cuban Missile Crisis (and many other near misses like the Able Archer war “game” of 1983) ought we be surprised that neither have the mass of the American people. That truly existential crisis is all but forgotten. Few of my undergrads can speak accurately of it, and more than a few have never even heard of it. I still carry the sense of dread I felt as a 15 year old during those 13 days in October 1962. I recall the words of then Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara that he went to bed on the last night of the crisis fearing that he, and we, would not live to see the dawn. Members of the “defense” establishment do know something of the extreme and awesome powers they wield. As even former U.S. SecDef William Perry warns, we are far closer to a nuclear holocaust than ever. Do we stand at the brink of Full Spectrum Destruction?

In 2014 beschuldigde de huidige VS president Joe Biden de geallieerden (dus de vrienden van de VS ofwel NAVO-partners) voor het met enorme bedragen aan geld en wapens steunen van terreurgroepen (‘gematigde rebellen’) , dat deden die landen met de voorwaarde dat ze tegen Assad moesten vechten (ofwel een verandering van regime bewerkstelligen)…… Biden bood later zijn excuses aan voor zijn woorden, niet omdat de door hem genoemde feiten niet waar zouden zijn (ook Nederland onder Rutte 2 gaf geld aan [ronduit] terreurgroepen….), maar omdat hij geallieerden te schande had gemaakt….. Dit alles terwijl Hillary Clinton al in 2012 als minister van BuZa onder Obama (en Biden als vicepresident) openlijk stelde dat Al Qaida in Syrië een partner was van de VS (de VS haalde Al Qaida Syrië zelfs van de terreurlijst die het hanteert…)….. Met al die westerse steun (plus die van Saoedi-Arabië en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten [VAE]), vochten deze zogenaamde gematigde terreurgroepen niet alleen tegen het reguliere Syrische leger, maar ook tegen de Syrische bevolking, wat resulteerde in een waar terreurbewind……

Echter daar bleef het niet bij: de VS vond het prima dat ISIS (in de video in het hieronder opgenomen artikel aangeduid als Daesh) Assad bevocht en dat het succes leek te hebben om Damascus in te nemen, één van de redenen waarom Rusland ingreep en met groot positief gevolg ISIS wist terug te dringen!! Niet in de video het feit dat de VS ISIS zelfs van wapens en ander oorlogstuig heeft voorzien (o.a. te vinden in Wikileaks en in de links na het hieronder opgenomen artikel)……
Hoge ambtenaren van Obama en nu Biden geven toe dat de VS Syrië moedwillig heeft vernield, alleen om een verandering van regime te bewerkstelligen……
Intussen houdt de VS nog steeds één derde van Syrië bezet, een gebied waar niet alleen de belangrijkste olievelden zijn te vinden, maar waar zich ook belangrijke landbouwgebieden bevinden, belangrijk voor het voeden van het Syrische volk…… De olie wordt zelfs verkocht door de VS, een ernstige oorlogsmisdaad, die openlijk door Trump werd ingezet en niet teruggedraaid door Biden…… Des te ernstiger daar Syrië geen geld meer heeft en de illegale sancties van de VS en de rest van het westen (illegaal: niet door de VN ingestelde sancties) dood en verderf zaaien in Syrië (en dus weer mensen op de vlucht jagen….)…… Het zal je waarschijnlijk niet verwonderen dat het Coronavirus flink huishoudt onder de verzwakte bevolking…..
De sancties en het bezetten van dit economisch belangrijke Syrische gebied door de VS zijn erop gericht dat Syrië niet aan de wederopbouw kan beginnen, dit doel werd zelfs toegegeven door een belangrijke beambte van Biden, tevens vicevoorzitter van de Syria Study Groep: Dana Stroul……. Ofwel in feite gaf deze Stroul toe dat de VS enorme terreur uitoefent in Syrië!!!
Tulsi Gabbard die zich met grote inzet heeft verzet tegen het moorddadige beleid van de VS in Syrië werd en wordt vooral door oorlogsmisdadiger Kamala Harris gedemoniseerd in de Democratische Partij als agent van het Assad bewind…… (hoorde vannacht nog op Radio1 dat de enorme sufferd Prem een groot aanhanger is van deze ploert en haar ziet als ‘rolmodel’ voor vrouwen; e.e.a. ook vanwege Internationale Vrouwendag, welnu wat ‘een geweldig rolmodel…’) Harris gebruikte in die toespraak woorden als kakkerlakken, je weet wel één van de favoriete woorden die de nazi’s gebruikten voor mensen die zij als minderwaardig (‘Untermensch’) zagen, mensen die zij hebben vergast….. (in de strijd tegen kakkerlakken wordt met name in de VS nog steeds ook gas ingezet…..)
Met het voorgaande en het hierna volgende wordt ten overvloede nog eens aangetoond dat de VS ook onder Biden de grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld is en dit zal blijven…….
