Staatssecretaris
Infrastructuur en Waterstaat, Stientje van Veldhoven, het valsgroene
gezicht van D66, heeft laten weten dat het rijk en de regio samen 30
miljoen aan belastinggeld zullen misbruiken voor het ‘neerplempen’
van 213 laadpalen per dag vanaf 2021, dit zoals je begrijpt t.b.v.
elektrische auto’s…..
Volgens
van Veldhoven zullen er in 2030 naar schatting 1,9 miljoen
elektrische auto’s (met ‘batterij’) rondrijden in Nederland, ofwel in
2030 zullen we op straat struikelen over laadpalen, waar we eerder
blij waren van het woud aan parkeermeters af te zijn…..
Elektrische
auto’s zijn vooral vervuilend als het gaat om productie van die auto
en de accu’s die benodigd zijn voor het elektrisch rijden….. Voor
de accu’s moet men bovendien grondstoffen in mijnen delven en dat werk in die mijnen
is om het zacht te zeggen ‘niet erg duurzaam’ (integendeel!!) en voor
de mijnwerkers, nu al niet zelden kinderen, is het zonder meer een
gevaar voor hun gezondheid…..
Daarnaast
is voor die mijnbouw Venezuela van groot belang daar dat land de
grootste voorraad aan coltan* heeft, al is dit ook in Venezuela een eindige grondstof. De Venezolaanse voorraad aan lithium is één van de
redenen waarom de VS dat land terroriseert met sancties, immers de
regering Maduro heeft volkomen terecht de mijnbouw en de oliewinning
genationaliseerd zodat er eindelijk fatsoenlijke winsten kunnen
worden gebruikt t.b.v. het Venezolaanse volk, in plaats van westerse (groot-) aandeelhouders….. (Venezuela is dan ook één van de
weinige landen die een echte volksvertegenwoordiging heeft, een
vertegenwoordiging die werkt in het belang van het volk en niet voor
de [grote] bedrijven…..)
Voor die
1,9 miljoen elektrische auto’s in ons land zijn minstens 1,5 miljoen laadpalen
nodig en deze palen vallen bepaald niet onder de noemer ‘duurzame productie’,
ook daarvoor staat zwaar vervuilende industrie te draaien…..
Ongelofelijk
dat men zo blind deze doodlopende weg opgaat, daar is maar één
reden voor: de machtige autolobby, die zich vol overgave op deze
manier van elektrisch rijden heeft gestort en daarmee regeringen bestookt met pleidooien voor deze zogenaamd duurzame vorm van autorijden…..Dezelfde lobby die bijna maandelijks wel een keer te horen is op de radiostations in ons land of die in de ons omringende landen, waar men stelt dat waterstof juist niet de oplossing is, daar het maken van waterstof te vervuilend zou zijn (afgelopen week nog de uit de mond van de zogenaamd deskundige Remco de Boer op BNR), terwijl waterstof prima gemaakt kan worden met windenergie…… Wellicht toevallig maar wel opvallend: de planning van nieuwe grote windparken op zee zijn intussen of stopgezet dan wel lopen grote vertraging op…..***
Er is
maar één manier die werkelijk het verschil kan maken vergeleken met
plofmotoren en dat is elektrisch rijden met behulp van waterstof: als
we daar al 15 jaar geleden op hadden ingezet, zouden we nu al
pompstations hebben die op fikse schaal waterstof verkochten……
Sterker nog: door een vinding van TU Delft zouden we zelfs cassettes
met waterstofkorrels hebben kunnen kopen in de supermarkt: schuif die
cassette in je auto, water erbij en karren maar op een echt duurzame
elektrische manier…..****
Nog een
bijkomend voordeel van waterstof: zo’n auto zou veel lichter zijn
daar de accu’s die nu worden gebruikt ook nog eens letterlijk loodzwaar zijn,
voorts is de actieradius van een waterstof auto vele malen groter dan
de huidige elektrische auto’s en we zouden tevens geen woud aan laadpalen
nodig hebben…..
Tot slot: men zou met waterstof zelfs vliegtuigen emissieloos kunnen maken.

DEN HAAG (AFN) – Het Rijk en de
regio leggen samen 30 miljoen euro op tafel voor laadpalen voor
elektrische auto’s, vrachtauto’s en zelfs binnenvaart. Volgend jaar
moeten er elke dag 213 nieuwe oplaadpunten bijkomen, meldt
staatssecretaris Stientje van Veldhoven (Infrastructuur en
Waterstaat).
Van Veldhoven spreekt van “een
stroomversnelling” in de aanleg van een dekkend netwerk van
laadpunten. Dat moet ervoor zorgen dat elektrische voertuigen altijd
in de buurt zijn van een stopcontact en niet in niemandsland
stilvallen. Vanaf 2030 zijn alle nieuwe auto’s in Nederland
uitlaatgassenvrij en rijden er naar verwachting 1,9 miljoen
elektrische auto’s rond. Dat vergt zeker 1,7 miljoen laadpalen.
Het Rijk trekt daarvoor 15 miljoen
euro uit. De zes regio’s waarin bijvoorbeeld de grote steden of de
noordelijke provincies samenwerken, leggen hetzelfde bedrag bij. Ze
hebben afgesproken samen op te trekken bij de planning van het
netwerk en de aanbesteding van opdrachten. Dat moet werk en geld
schelen.

* Hier stond eerder per abuis lithium, echter hier had moeten staan: coltan, daarvan heeft Venezuela de grootste voorraad. (mijn excuus, gecorrigeerd op 29 juli 2020) De grondstof lithium is ook van belang voor de accu’s van auto’s en wordt vooral in Bolivia gevonden.
*** Men wijst graag op het verzet bij de bevolking tegen windenergie op zee, daar dit de horizon zou vervuilen, terwijl je vanaf het strand niet verder kan zien dan 5 kilometer en die windparken veel verder op zee zijn gepland, t.w. 18,5 kilometer…… Trouwens het verzet tegen windmolens ook op land is niet zelden uiterst hypocriet, men wijst op de herrie, terwijl de herrie van verkeer voor lief wordt genomen, hetzelfde geldt voor de aanblik van windmolens, waar men geen moeite heeft met dagelijks tienduizenden auto’s met plofmotoren die zich door het landschap werken op ‘hééél mooie asfaltwegen….’ (e.e.a. betekent niet dat men windmolens moet plaatsen naast woonhuizen, of in de directe omgeving daarvan, plaats ze langs die ‘mooie asfaltwegen….’)
Gistermiddag op BNR rond 16.43 u. kwam Geert Jan Hahn, de gesjeesde Oost-Europa correspondent van die zender, met het bericht dat een standbeeld van Leopold II voor restauratie is weggehaald uit het Belgische Ekeren, nadat het afgelopen weken doelwit was van mensen die zich verzetten tegen het nog steeds alom aanwezige racisme, wereldwijd in de kijker door de politiemoord in de VS op (de gekleurde) George Floyd.
Leopold II was de koning van België die massamoorden liet uitvoeren in Congo en daar een waar schrikbewind liet uitvoeren, bepaald niet vreemd dus dat men tekeergaat tegen dit beeld van een enorme schoft……
Volgens Hahn is het beeld vervoerd naar een museum in Antwerpen waar het zal worden gerestaureerd (het gaat om het museum Middelheim in Antwerpen). Het beeld stond in Ekeren, dat in feite deel uitmaakt van Antwerpen, ‘maar goed…’
Volgens Hahn komt het beeld niet terug in Ekeren, echter dat is nog niet bekend in België, zoals VRT meldde…… Hahn vervolgde met te zeggen dat met het weghalen van het beeld van Leopold II, het oudste beeld in België werd verwijderd, te weten 150 jaar oud…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
Kortom het is duidelijk dat Hahn nog steeds een bijzonder grote duim heeft, jezus op een paard! Tijd dat Hahn eens op vakantie gaat naar België, dan zal hij zien dat daar nog veel oudere beelden staan!!

Oudste
Manneken Pis staat in Geraardsbergen en niet in Brussel
Het
Manneken Pis is een bekend beeldje in Geraardsbergen en staat voor het
stadhuis op de Markt. Het is minder bekend dan het Manneken Pis in
Brussel, maar in Geraardsbergen staat (waarschijnlijk) de oudste van
de twee.
De inwoners van Geraardsbergen plaatsten het beeld van
een plassende jongen in 1459 op een fontein om een beeld van een
leeuw dat door Gentenaars werd gestolen te vervangen. Het huidige
Manneken Pis in de fontein is echter niet het origineel, het is een
replica uit 1985. Het oorspronkelijke beeld uit 1459 is helaas
verloren gegaan, maar in het museum “De Permanensje” (te
vinden op de Markt) kan men een ouder Manneken Pis uit de 18de eeuw
bewonderen. Hier vind je ook Manneken Pis in verschillende kleren,
echt prachtig om te zien en zeker de moeite waard. Wij vonden het
heel erg leuk om het beroemde Manneken Pis even te hebben gezien:-)
Overigens ook elders in België zijn de beelden van Leopold II het doelwit (een passend woord in deze) van mensen die het voortdurende racisme en geweld tegen gekleurde mensen zat zijn en die weten wat deze schoft op zijn geweten heeft……

Veel ophef in België over dit ‘vandalisme….’ Alsof het normaal is om massamoordenaars te eren, wat zou men in België zeggen als er beelden van Hitler te vinden waren in Duitse steden….. Te triest voor woorden…….
Overigens ook elders ergert men zich aan vandalisme dat wordt gebruikt tegen standbeelden van o.a. slavenhandelaren, zo is er in Britse Bristol (hé) volkomen terecht een beeld van zo’n handelaar van de sokkel getrokken en in het water gekieperd. Dat is nog eens wat anders dan de VS dat na de illegale inval in Irak in 2003 een beeld van Saddam Hoessein omver trok met een tank en dit bracht als een actie van de bevolking…….
Tijd ook dat men nu eindelijk de straten die vernoemd zijn naar ‘zeehelden’ een nieuwe naam geeft, zoals de straten van de Zeeheldenbuurt in Den Haag, waar de namen van deze helden staan voor enorm geweld, massamoord, slavenhandel, verkrachting, brandschatting, handel in harddrugs, zeeroverij en diefstal…….
Het Care
2 team heeft het hoogste alarm geslagen (‘three alarm fire’) over de
klimaatverandering, dit naar aanleiding van een CNN artikel waarin
wordt gesteld dat wanneer er niet heel snel actie wordt ondernomen
door de ondertekenaars van het Klimaatakkoord van Parijs (PCA: Paris
Climate Agreement) en de VS, de gevolgen voor dieren en planten desastreus zullen zijn…… De VS heeft zich middels Trump
teruggetrokken uit het
PCA….. Als er niet veel sneller maatregelen worden getroffen zou rond 2070 maar ‘liefst’ 33% van het aantal plant- en
diersoorten zijn uitgestorven, aldus het CNN artikel…… Sterker nog: als de aangesloten
regeringen van het PCA doorgaan op de huidige voet, dus veel lullen
maar weinig of niets doen, kan het percentage zelfs oplopen tot 55%!!
Volgens
een studie van de universiteit van Arizona zou het percentage
aan uit te sterven planten en dieren teruggebracht kunnen worden tot 16% van het totaal aantal plant- en
diersoorten, echter zoals gezegd mits men onmiddellijk actie onderneemt op de beloften
gedaan op het PCA…… Als je ziet dat sinds de 70er jaren van de
vorige eeuw al meer dan twee derde van het aantal insecten is
uitgestorven, lijkt me dit wel heel erg optimistisch…..
De
klimaatverandering is als een mammoettanker op volle snelheid die
moet keren, anders gezegd: zelfs al zouden we onmiddellijk actie
ondernemen (wat niet zal gebeuren) zijn we al dik te laat…. Er zijn
cumulatieve effecten die al een paar decennia bezig zijn, neem het
steeds meer afsmelten van gletsjers en het ijs op de beide polen door de klimaatverandering, daardoor komt er steeds meer ruimte voor het opnemen van
zonnewarmte (immers de zonnestralen worden niet meer weerkaatst door ijs en sneeuw)…..
Gevolg daarvan: een verdere temperatuurstijging waardoor er nog meer ijs en gletsjers
afsmelten, enz. enz. Hetzelfde geldt voor de permafrost, deze smelt
op steeds grotere snelheid af, waardoor er enorme hoeveelheden
methaangas vrijkomen, ook daardoor wordt het steeds warmer en komt er nog meer
methaangas vrij enz. enz. (methaangas is één van de sterkste
broeikasgassen op aarde…)
Ik vrees
dan ook dat die 33% niet in 2070 zal zijn uitgestorven maar al rond
2040, of wellicht zelfs eerder…… Niets doen is echter geen optie,
dus lees en teken de petitie van Care2 ajb en geeft het door, het
gaat om ons aller huis!! (en daarmee bedoel ik alle bewoners op aarde, dus mens, dier en plant….)

begins a worrying article about the repercussions of a warming
planet.
If the
world fails to act fast, entire species of plants and animals will
disappear. Sign now to
ask signatory countries to adhere to the Paris Climate Agreement
(PCA) and urge the U.S. to rejoin the vital treaty.
A
recently released survey studied the survival chances of more than
500 animals from nearly 600 sites around the world, and suggested
some dire consequences if nations don’t act to reign in global carbon
emissions. By 2070,
around 33% of worldwide plant and animal life could disappear. That’s
the “good” news. The study also warns that if emissions
continue unabated as they have for the last few decades, the species
extinction rate could jump to 55%.
Tragically, scientists don’t think we can avoid this scenario
altogether, but there are ways to decrease the number of species that
are likely to be affected. According to a study performed by
researchers from the University of Arizona, if governments adhere to
the guidelines they set out for themselves in the PCA, the number of
plant and animal species that go extinct could be cut to just 16%.
The PCA was a landmark global accord between 195 nations to
mitigate and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But while scientists
say there is hope to do just that, currently, not one major country
is on track to fulfill their promises. Countries
like Peru, DR Congo, and Indonesia have yet to stop destroying their
forests, Brazil’s president expresses open disdain for the PCA, and
President Trump has already initiated the withdrawal of the United
States from the agreement altogether.
The
world population needs to reduce emissions to halt climate change
soon, or plants and animals worldwide will disappear. But it’s our
governments that have the power to do so through leadership and
policy.

that have signed to uphold their end of the bargain!
Op 26 december jl. hoorde ik op Radio1 rond 8.45 u. een ‘reportage’ en gesprek over de strijd tegen Ebola in Congo. Psychosociaal hulpverlener Rene Hofs* van Unicef is af en aan werkzaam in Congo, hij sprak met de waardeloze Radio1 Journaal (NOS) presentator Jurgen van den Berg.
Sinds vorig jaar zijn er in Congo 2.100 mensen aan Ebola overleden….. De achterdocht jegens westerse hulpverleners is groot, men gelooft voor een groot deel niet dat een injectie Ebola kan voorkomen, integendeel men denkt dat zo’n injectie levensgevaarlijk is….. Niet zo vreemd als je ziet dat westerse bedrijven de corruptie in Congo voeden en nog steeds het land leegstelen ten voordele van foute bestuurders in lokaal, regionaal en zelfs landelijke bestuur…… Het neokolonialisme is terug van nooit weggeweest….
De achterdocht gaat zover dat men zelfs hulpverleners worden aangevallen, zo werden 3 hulpverleners vermoord die met het Ebola programma bezig waren, al werden zij aangevallen door een terreurgroep….. Uiteraard zijn ook de terreurgroepen en zeker als ze een fundamentalistisch religieus gehalte hebben, zowel islam als christelijk**, schuldig aan de achterdocht en verantwoordelijk voor de aanvallen op medische hulpposten dan wel mobiele medische hulpposten….
Echter vergeet nooit dat de westerse bedrijven die in Congo opereren er belang bij hebben dat er geen krachtdadige regering aan het bewind komt in dat land, immers dat zou ten koste gaan van de corruptie en daarmee van een fiks winst aandeel….. Een krachtdadige regering zou het terreurprobleem op zeker veel beter aanpakken, dan de corrupte kliek die na elke verkiezing weer de dienst uitmaakt…… (het maakt dan ook niet uit wie er aan het bewind is, de bevolking is altijd de sjors….)
Na het noemen van de 3 vermoorde hulpverleners vroeg van den Berg aan Hofs of hij zijn werk nog wel veilig kan doen…. Hoe is het mogelijk dat deze ongelofelijke dombo nog steeds het Radio1 Journaal mag presenteren, terwijl zijn voorgangers, Marcel Oosten en Frederique de Jong, meer dan 100% beter waren dan van den Berg, maar aan de kant werden gezet voor deze flapdrol….
* Kan zijn naam niet op het net terugvinden, dus weet niet of ik zijn naam goed heb geschreven.
** Twee van die groepen zijn Het Leger van de Heer (LRA) en de islamitische terreurgroep ADF.
Vanmorgen het bericht dat de Nederlandse Financierings Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden (FMO) een bedrijf financieel steunt dat palmolieplantages uitbaat in Congo….. Op drie van die plantages werd geconstateerd dat de arbeiders worden uitgebuit en dat ze geen beschermende kleding krijgen als ze met landbouwgif moeten werken…… Let wel: het zou hier om ‘duurzame palmolieplantages’ gaan…..
De Nederlandse overheid is voor een deel mede-eigenaar van de FMO….. Daarom de volgende vragen: ten eerste: waarom moet de FMO (en daarmee Nederland) een draaiende palmolieplantage van financiën voorzien? Immers die bedrijven verdienen zich scheel aan de geproduceerde rotzooi….. Ten tweede: waarom investeert Nederland in palmolieplantages, daar duurzame palmolieplantages niet bestaan, neem alleen al het gebruik van gif. Daarnaast houden zogenaamde duurzame palmolieplantages de vraag naar palmolie groot en daarom zullen mensen oerwouden in de fik blijven steken om palmolieplantages te beginnen…….
Kortom de enige bestaande duurzame palmolie is die aan de palmen blijft hangen, de hele vraag naar dit overigens ongezonde vet en deze niet duurzame toevoeging aan brandstof moet verdwijnen!!
Hoe is het mogelijk dat ‘onze regering’ ons belastinggeld misbruikt voor palmolieplantages, schande!! Weet je nog wat ‘onze premier’ pinokkio Rutte afgelopen zomer durfde te zeggen over de branden in het Amazonewoud? Juist, dat vond hij ‘verschrikkelijk…..’ Dan te bedenken dat Nederland de nummer 2 importeur is van sojabonen voor de 500 miljoen arme dieren die hier jaarlijks worden groot en doodgemarteld….. Genetisch gemanipuleerde soja uit Brazilië, waarvoor men grote delen van het Amazonewoud in brand steekt…… (China is de nummer 1 importeur; daarnaast gaat 80% van de wereldsojaproductie naar diervoer…..)
De FMO reageerde vanmorgen met te zeggen dat men de klacht serieus neemt en dat er de afgelopen paar jaar al veel is verbeterd…… Het is dat het zo triest is, anders zou je je doodlachen, dit daar de FMO dus weet dat er van alles mis is op de oliepalmplantages en dat al een paar jaar en ondanks die kennis is er nog steeds van alles mis……
De Nederlandse overheid moet zich als de bliksem terugtrekken uit de FMO, controle op handel en wandel van die organisatie schijnt te moeilijk te zijn voor ‘onze overheid….’
Carl Theunis, verslaggever voor Vrancks, was vanmiddag te gast in het programma Interne Keuken op VRT 1. Theunis vertelde over het meer dan schunnige feit dat mensen die in Congo, Nigeria en Kenia in het ziekenhuis belanden, maar de rekening niet kunnen betalen, worden gegijzeld…… Eén en ander gebeurt ook in rk ziekenhuizen……..
Moet je nagaan, terwijl het Vaticaan anticonceptie verbiedt, waardoor men niet alleen het dodelijke hiv virus kan oplopen*, maar ook geen controle heeft over het wel of niet krijgen van kinderen…..
Het voorgaande is van belang, daar veel vrouwen worden gegijzeld na een bevalling in het ziekenhuis……
Volgens Theunis gebeurt het dat vrouwen via ‘seksuele diensten’ aan artsen e.d. de rekening betalen……..
Grâce Mbongi is een vrouw die zich inzet voor deze vrouwen en hen vrijkoopt, daarvoor heeft ze een organisatie opgericht met de naam ‘Grâce Monde’.
Overigens zijn er meer landen waar men een dergelijke schandalige gijzeling uitvoert, zoals in de Filipijnen…… (een overwegend katholiek land)

* In veel arme landen als Congo is aids nog steeds een dodelijke ziekte, daar de mensen de medicatie niet kunnen betalen waarmee men oud kan worden, ondanks besmet te zijn……. De schatrijke farmaceutische maffia weigert om de medicatie tegen een voor die landen redelijke prijs aan te bieden, terwijl die farmaceuten al lang de kosten voor de ontwikkeling van die medicijnen terug hebben verdiend en ongelofelijke winsten hebben gemaakt op diezelfde medicatie…..
Hoe
de VS te werk gaat als het een haar onwelgevallig regime wil laten
vallen, is op deze plek meermaals aangehaald: organiseer een opstand
onder het volk, het liefst middels een economische oorlog, die
aanvankelijk in het geniep wordt gevoerd: VS bedrijven onder druk
zetten, bedrijven die in bijvoorbeeld Venezuela levensmiddelen
verkopen, hun voorraden niet of onvoldoende te bevoorraden,
hetzelfde geldt voor farmaceutische bedrijven. Hierdoor ontstaat
ontevredenheid onder het volk, een situatie die kan leiden tot een
volledige opstand……
Een
opstand die uiteraard wordt georganiseerd en geregisseerd door de
VS >> CIA), waarbij men het liefst gewelddadige figuren inzet die middels
zwaar geweld als het doodschieten van demonstranten, het bewuste
bewind zoals dat in Venezuela in een kwaad daglicht stelt, ofwel: de
doden zouden te danken zijn aan het bewind, dit noemt men een false flag operatie en is een specialiteit van de CIA en het Pentagon…….
Met
een opstand in het land ligt de weg naar een staatsgreep open. Immers
op het punt dat er sprake is van een opstand, die ‘met geweld wordt
onderdrukt’, stappen de reguliere westerse media in de zaak en middels het
schreeuwen van moord en brand en de eis sancties in te stellen…..
Met sancties zoals in het geval van Venezuela, wordt het leven voor
de bevolking nog zwaarder, waarna men in diezelfde media in de
westerse politiek ingrijpen eist…… Zie hier in het kort de
werkwijze van de VS.
De VS heeft in Venezuela een tekort aan voedsel en medicijnen veroorzaakt, waar dezelfde VS nu de door haar naar voren geschoven kandidaat Guaidó wil voorzien van….. levensmiddelen en medicijnen!!
Op dit moment, even na 12.00 u. is er een Duitse correspondent in Venezuela aan het woord op WDR 5, en stap voor stap herhaalt zij de leugens die tot de door de VS georganiseerde opstand in Venezuela hebben geleid, zo herhaalt ze de leugen dat er geen economische oorlog is gevoerd tegen het land en dat de tekorten aan Maduro’s beleid zijn te danken…… Terwijl er aantoonbaar een economische oorlog is gevoerd tegen Venezuela en dat deze de grote tekorten heeft veroorzaakt……
De correspondent spreekt alsof de toestand van het Venezolaanse volk hetzelfde is als die voor de Palestijnen in de Gazastrook en op de West Bank, of sterker nog: of deze te vergelijken is met de genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie uitvoert in Jemen (met grote steun van de VS en GB…) en waarbij dagelijks grote aantallen mensen omkomen…. (opvallend is het volgende onderwerp op WDR 5: fake news [nepnieuws] en de betrouwbaarheid van de reguliere media…..)

On
15 September 1970, US President Richard Nixon and National Security
Advisor Henry Kissinger authorised the US government to do everything
possible to undermine the incoming government of the socialist
president of Chile, Salvador Allende. Nixon and Kissinger, according
to the notes kept by CIA Director Richard Helms, wanted to ‘make
the economy scream’ in Chile; they were ‘not concerned [about
the] risks involved’. War was acceptable to them as long as
Allende’s government was removed from power. The CIA started
Project FUBELT, with $10 million as a first instalment to begin the
covert destabilisation of the country.

US
business firms, such as the telecommunication giant ITT, the soft
drink maker Pepsi Cola and copper monopolies such as Anaconda and
Kennecott, put pressure on the US government once Allende
nationalised the copper sector on 11 July 1971. Chileans celebrated
this day as the Day of National Dignity (Dia de la Dignidad
Nacional). The CIA began to make contact with sections of the
military seen to be against Allende. Three years later, on 11
September 1973, these military men moved against Allende, who died in
the regime change operation. The US ‘created the conditions’ as
US National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger put it, to which US
President Richard Nixon answered, ‘that is the way it is going to
be played’. Such is the mood of international gangsterism.

Chile
entered the dark night of a military dictatorship that turned over
the country to US monopoly firms. US advisors rushed in to strengthen
the nerve of General Augusto Pinochet’s cabinet.
What
happened to Chile in 1973 is precisely what the United States has
attempted to do in many other countries of the Global South. The most
recent target for the US government – and Western big business –
is Venezuela. But what is happening to Venezuela is nothing unique.
It faces an onslaught from the United States and its allies that is
familiar to countries as far afield as Indonesia and the Democratic
Republic of Congo. The formula is clichéd. It is commonplace, a
twelve-step plan to produce a coup climate, to create a world under
the heel of the West and of Western big business.
Step
One: Colonialism’s Traps.
Most
of the Global South remains trapped by the structures put in place by
colonialism. Colonial boundaries encircled states that had the
misfortune of being single commodity producers – either sugar for
Cuba or oil for Venezuela. The inability to diversify their economies
meant that these countries earned the bulk of their export revenues
from their singular commodities (98% of Venezuela’s export revenues
come from oil). As long as the prices of the commodities remained
high, the export revenues were secure. When the prices fell, revenue
suffered. This was a legacy of colonialism. Oil prices dropped from
$160.72 per barrel (June 2008) to $51.99 per barrel (January 2019).
Venezuela’s export revenues collapsed in this decade.
Step
Two: The Defeat of the New International Economic Order.
In
1974, the countries of the Global South attempted to redo the
architecture of the world economy. They called for the creation of a
New International Economic Order (NIEO) that would allow them to
pivot away from the colonial reliance upon one commodity and
diversify their economies. Cartels of raw materials – such as oil
and bauxite – were to be built so that the one-commodity country
could have some control over prices of the products that they relied
upon. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC),
founded in 1960, was a pioneer of these commodity cartels. Others
were not permitted to be formed. With the defeat of OPEC over the
past three decades, its members – such as Venezuela (which has the
world’s largest proven oil reserves) – have not been able to
control oil prices. They are at the mercy of the powerful countries
of the world.
Step
Three: The Death of Southern Agriculture.
In
November 2001, there were about three billion small farmers and
landless peasants in the world. That month, the World Trade
Organisation met in Doha (Qatar) to unleash the productivity of
Northern agri-business against the billions of small farmers and
landless peasants of the Global South. Mechanisation and large,
industrial-scale farms in North America and Europe had raised
productivity to about 1 to 2 million kilogrammes of cereals per
farmer. The small farmers and landless peasants in the rest of the
world struggled to grow 1,000 kilogrammes of cereals per farmer. They
were nowhere near as productive. The Doha decision, as Samir
Amin wrote,
presages the annihilation of the small farmer and landless peasant.
What are these men and women to do? The production per hectare is
higher in the West, but the corporate take-over of agriculture (as
Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research Senior Fellow P.
Sainath shows) leads to increased hunger as it pushes peasants off
their land and leaves them to starve.
Step
Four: Culture of Plunder.
Emboldened
by Western domination, monopoly firms act with disregard for the law.
As Kambale
Musavuli and I write of
the Democratic Republic of Congo, its annual budget of $6 billion is
routinely robbed of at least $500 by monopoly mining firms, mostly
from Canada – the country now leading the charge against Venezuela.
Mispricing and tax avoidance schemes allow these large firms
(Canada’s Agrium, Barrick and Suncor) to routinely steal billions
of dollars from impoverished states.
Step
Five: Debt as a Way of Life.
Unable
to raise money from commodity sales, hemmed in by a broken world
agricultural system and victim of a culture of plunder, countries of
the Global South have been forced to go hat in hand to commercial
lenders for finance. Over the past decade, debt held by the Global
South states has increased, while debt payments have ballooned by
60%. When commodity prices rose between 2000 and 2010, debt in the
Global South decreased. As commodity prices began to fall from 2010,
debts have risen. The IMF points out that of the 67 impoverished
countries that they follow, 30 are in debt distress, a number that
has doubled since 2013. More than 55.4% of Angola’s export revenue
is paid to service its debt. And Angola, like Venezuela, is an oil
exporter. Other oil exporters such as Ghana, Chad, Gabon and
Venezuela suffer high debt to GDP ratios. Two out of five low-income
countries are in deep financial distress.
Step
Six: Public Finances Go to Hell.
With
little incoming revenue and low tax collection rates, public finances
in the Global South has gone into crisis. As the UN Conference on
Trade and Development points out, ‘public finances have continued
to be suffocated’. States simply cannot put together the funds
needed to maintain basic state functions. Balanced budget rules make
borrowing difficult, which is compounded by the fact that banks
charge high rates for money, citing the risks of lending to indebted
countries.
Step
Seven: Deep Cuts in Social Spending.
Impossible
to raise funds, trapped by the fickleness of international finance,
governments are forced to make deep cuts in social spending.
Education and health, food sovereignty and economic diversification –
all this goes by the wayside. International agencies such as the IMF
force countries to conduct ‘reforms’, a word that means
extermination of independence. Those countries that hold out face
immense international pressure to submit under pain of extinction, as
the Communist Manifesto (1848) put it.
Step
Eight: Social Distress Leads to Migration.
The
total number of migrants in the world is now at least 68.5 million.
That makes the country called Migration the 21st largest country in
the world after Thailand and ahead of the United Kingdom. Migration
has become a global reaction to the collapse of countries from one
end of the planet to the other. The migration out of Venezuela is not
unique to that country but is now merely the normal reaction to the
global crisis. Migrants from Honduras who go northward to the United
States or migrants from West Africa who go towards Europe through
Libya are part of this global exodus.
Step
Nine: Who Controls the Narrative?
The
monopoly corporate media takes its orders from the elite. There is no
sympathy for the structural crisis faced by governments from
Afghanistan to Venezuela. Those leaders who cave to Western pressure
are given a free pass by the media. As long as they conduct
‘reforms’, they are safe. Those countries that argue against the
‘reforms’ are vulnerable to being attacked. Their leaders become
‘dictators’, their people hostages. A contested election in
Bangladesh or in the Democratic Republic of Congo or in the United
States is not cause for regime change. That special treatment is left
for Venezuela.
Step
Ten: Who’s the Real President?
Regime
change operations begin when the imperialists question the legitimacy
of the government in power: by putting the weight of the United
States behind an unelected person, calling him the new president and
creating a situation where the elected leader’s authority is
undermined. The coup takes place when a powerful country decides –
without an election – to anoint its own proxy. That person – in
Venezuela’s case Juan Guaidó – rapidly has to make it clear that
he will bend to the authority of the United States. His kitchen
cabinet – made up of former government officials with intimate ties
to the US (such as Harvard University’s Ricardo Hausmann and
Carnegie’s Moisés Naím) – will make it clear that they want to
privatise everything and sell out the Venezuelan people in the name
of the Venezuelan people.
Step
Eleven: Make the Economy Scream.
Venezuela
has faced harsh US sanctions since 2014, when the US Congress started
down this road. The next year, US President Barack Obama declared
Venezuela a ‘threat to national security’. The economy started to
scream. In recent days, the United States and the United Kingdom
brazenly stole billions of dollars of Venezuelan money, placed the
shackles of sanctions on its only revenue generating sector (oil) and
watched the pain flood through the country. This is what the US did
to Iran and this is what they did to Cuba. The UN says that the US
sanctions on Cuba have cost the small island $130 billion. Venezuela
lost $6 billion for the first year of Trump’s sanctions, since they
began in August 2017. More is to be lost as the days unfold. No
wonder that the United Nations Special Rapporteur Idriss Jazairy says
that ‘sanctions which can lead to starvation and medical shortages
are not the answer to the crisis in Venezuela’. He said that
sanctions are ‘not a foundation for the peaceful settlement of
disputes’. Further, Jazairy said, ‘I am especially concerned to
hear reports that these sanctions are aimed at changing the
government of Venezuela’. He called for ‘compassion’ for the
people of Venezuela.
Step
Twelve: Go to War.
US
National Security Advisor John Bolton held a yellow pad with the
words 5,000 troops in Colombia written on it. These are US troops,
already deployed in Venezuela’s neighbour. The US Southern Command
is ready. They are egging on Colombia and Brazil to do their bit. As
the coup climate is created, a nudge will be necessary. They will go
to war.
None
of this is inevitable. It was not inevitable to Titina Silá, a
commander of the Partido Africano para a Independència da Guiné e
Cabo Verde (PAIGC) who was murdered on 30 January 1973. She fought to
free her country. It is not inevitable to the people of Venezuela,
who continue to fight to defend their revolution. It is not
inevitable to our friends at CodePink: Women for Peace, whose Medea
Benjamin walked into a meeting of the Organisation of American States
and said – No!
It
is time to say No to regime change intervention. There is no middle
ground.

De
verkiezingen in: Congo, zijn ondanks de smerige inzet van president,
of beter gezegd dictator Kabila, gewonnen door Martin
Fayulu. Echter Kabila en de kandidaat van zijn keuze, oppositieleider Félix
Tshisekedi, eisen de winst op.
De
voorzitter van de kiescommissie in de ‘democratische republiek’ Congo, Corneille Nangaa stelt echter dat wanneer de wereld en de oppositie
het niet eens zijn met deze uitslag, dus dat Tshisekedi heeft
gewonnen, het regime Kabila aan het bewind zal blijven……. Nangaa
staat dan ook aan de kant van Kabila en Tshisekedi…… (hoeveel bewijs van verkiezingsmanipulatie wil je nog hebben??)
De VS
heeft intussen over de grens met Gabon troepen
gestationeerd, waar de ambassadeur van de VS in Congo waarschuwde dat
wanneer de democratie geweld aangedaan zal worden, de VS niet zal
aarzelen in te grijpen……..
Kabila
heeft 18 jaar aan één stuk geregeerd en daarbij zichzelf en z’n
maten fiks verrijkt door diefstal van grondstoffen, althans daar komt
de enorme corruptie van dit bewind op neer…… Over corruptie gesproken: de diefstal van grondstoffen middels afspraken met uitbaters van mijnen, staat bepaald niet op zich, grote westerse bedrijven doen niet voor niets graag zaken in Congo….. Zo zijn in Kinshasa o.a. de volgende firma’s gevestigd: Nestlé, Heineken, Esri (een schimmig bedrijf uit Rotterdam dat nauwe banden heeft met de VS regering), US marine Corp, PwC, Walmart, Maersk en Air France (en daarmee KLM).
Lullig
genoeg zie ik niet veel heil in Fayulu, dit vanwege zijn connecties
en verleden…… Het is dan ook maar de vraag wie de VS zal steunen,
al zullen de woorden van de VS ambassadeur niet goed zijn ontvangen
bij Kabila, z’n corrupte bende en Tshisekedi (althans als deze figuren niet al voor deze uitspraak werd gedaan, werden gerustgesteld door de VS ambassadeur, wat bepaald niet ondenkbaar is……..)
Gisteren werd bekend gemaakt dat het constitutionele hof in Congo de winst van Tshisekedi bevestigt, waarmee de claim van Fayulu dat de verkiezingen werden gemanipuleerd door Kabila en Tshisekedi, naar de prullenbak werd verwezen…… Terwijl de rk kerk die zich vreemd genoeg met de verkiezingen bemoeide, o.a. door het leveren van 40.000 getrainde waarnemers in stembureaus, in feite stelt dat Fayulu de verkiezingen heeft gewonnen…… (dat heeft de rk kerk niet, maar gezien de rapportage van deze kerk over de verkiezingen kan je iets anders niet concluderen)
Niet vreemd dus dat Faylulu de uitslag niet erkent en het volk heeft opgeroepen hetzelfde te doen.

Congolese
President Kabila wants to shut out the apparent winner of last
month’s elections in favor the of the second place finisher, who
appears to have accepted the deal.
“Congo’s
elections commissioner threatened that the Kabila regime will remain
in power if Congolese and the rest of the world do not accept their
claim that Félix Tshisekedi won.”
Most
UN Security Council (UNSC) meetings are so stuffy that they’re hard
to watch without wishing someone would open a window, turn on the
ventilator, or take the august ambassadors off life support. Norman
Finkelstein couldn’t have been more apt than when he called
Secretary General Ban-Ki-Moon a “comatose puppet of the United
States.” I went through an entire pot of strong coffee just
listening to last week’s three-hour UNSC meeting about the December
30 election in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Congolese
had turned out in unprecedented numbers, often waiting in the rain
for hours to vote, so it seemed like the least I could do.
“No
one mentioned the elephant in the room: US combat troops in Gabon to
invade DRC with air support if so ordered.”
The
ambassadors spoke in code, without naming key players and
perpetrators. Their meanings were cloaked in mind-numbing repetitions
of “provisional results,” “electoral process,” “restraint
from violence,” “existing institutions,” “humanitarian
challenges,” “fight against impunity,” etc., laced with
occasional hints about the cards behind their backs. Most expressed
regret about the Ebola outbreak and the “presence of armed groups”
that compelled the postponement of voting in parts of eastern DRC’s
North Kivu and Bandudu Provinces, but no one dared to say who was
armed or who was arming them (most of all Uganda, Rwanda, and their
international partners in resource theft). And no one mentioned the
elephant in the room: US combat troops in Gabon to invade DRC with
air support if so ordered. Acting United States Ambassador Jonathan
R. Cohen came closest when he said, “We remain prepared to hold
accountable individuals who threaten peace, stability, or security of
the DRC, or undermine the DRC’s democratic process.” The State
Department similarly exaggerated US jurisdiction in the press
release on its website .
The
Russian and Chinese ambassadors both spoke of DRC’s sovereignty
without saying that the US should refrain from invading DRC. France
and the UK, the other two permanent UNSC members with veto power, all
expressed concern that the national election commission is not
reporting accurate results, as it most certainly is not. At this
point I’m not sure what they’re all up to, and I doubt they are
either. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty and shifting sand, as
was confirmed by a Congolese friend of mine who met with US State
Department officials to argue for a democratic outcome. (The US has
inordinate power in this part of the world as it does everywhere
else. Who doesn’t fear its firepower and financial manipulations?)

Corneille
Nangaa, the president of DRC’s national electoral commission
(CENI), addressed the council via video link from the country’s
capital, Kinshasa. He complained that the elections had been very
difficult to organize because of widespread mistrust. (How’d that
happen? They’re only two years behind schedule, and sitting
president Joseph Kabila has only been in power for 18 years—which
he’s spent ransacking the country’s resources and doing nothing
for the Congolese.There were plenty of riot police outside the
commission before it announced presidential candidate Félix
Tshisekedi’s implausible victory over Martin Fayulu. And only 12
protestors have been shot dead since. So why worry?)
In
cloaked words, Nangaa threatened that the Kabila regime will remain
in power if Congolese and the rest of the world do not accept their
claim that Félix Tshisekedi won. He said that there are only two
options: accept the reported results, or return to “existing
institutions” until a new election can be organized. (And keep in
mind that this election finally took place two years after the
constitutional deadline.)
Congo’s
Catholic Church
Religious
faith may be irrational, but the National Episcopal Conference of the
Congo (COMEC), meaning its Catholic Church, has been the voice of
reason, and democracy, in this election. It fielded nearly 40,000
trained observers, with at least one present at each polling station,
ensuring 100 percent coverage.The data they collected was transmitted
by mobile telephone networks or via satellite telephones to a
national call center.
Archbishop
Marcel Utembi also spoke to the council via video link from Kinshasa.
He reported that the church worked closely with other accredited
observer missions, including the Church of Christ in Congo, but
remained independent of all parties and political platforms and
received no funding from them.
He
explained that, to monitor the election results, the National
Episcopal Conference conducted a parallel vote count, based on a
representative sample of about 11 percent of all voting stations,
both rural and urban, providing a margin of error of one percent and
a confidence rate of 95 percent. He also confirmed the impressive
voter turnout. Regarding the provisional results reported by the
national electoral commission, he said they didn’t match the
church’s own tallies, and therefore called on the UNSC to act in
solidarity with the people of the DRC and call on the electoral
commission to publish data collected at each polling station as soon
as possible. (Friends of the Congo’s Maurice Carney said that most
of the votes have not even been counted and launched a petition,
“Re sp ect t he
People’s Voice and Count Their Votes .”)
“The
Church fielded nearly 40,000 trained observers, with at least one
present at each polling station, ensuring 100 percent coverage.”
Dry
stuff? Yes it is. Statistics usually are. But it’s not stuffy,
evasive, pretentious, or dishonest like most UNSC meetings, including
this one. It’s a convincing case for respecting the will of the
Congolese people for the first time since Belgium and the US
assassinated their independence hero and first elected Prime
Minister, Patrice Lumumba.
Archbishop
Utembi did not tell the council that Martin Fayulu won the
presidential election. However, since the electoral commission said
that Félix Tshisekedi won, and the church says that their tallies
differ, we can assume that the church believes Martin Fayulu won. His
reticence no doubt has to do with the church’s goal, which is
honest elections, not support for one candidate or another, and its
caution not to trigger violence. He said that “should there be any
challenge to the outcome, we would then ask the UNSC to invite the
relevant stakeholders to ensure that they prioritize the path of
truth and peace while awaiting the outcome of any challenge, as this
would go a long way towards ensuring peace and stability in our
nation.”
But
what if stakeholders, most specifically Kabila and his ruling party,
refuse the invitation? They’ve clung to power for 18 years, and now
appear to have struck a deal with second place finisher Félix
Tshisekedi to keep Martin Fayulu from becoming DRC’s next
president.
“Fayulu
campaigned on promises to end the horrific violence in Congo’s Kivu
Provinces.”
Fayulu
is no Lumumba; he is a former Exxon-Mobil executive turned
parliamentarian who formed alliances with billionaire Moise Katumbi
and controversial businessman, politician, and former rebel
commander—some say warlord—Jean-Pierre Bemba. Both Katumbi and
Bemba vied for the presidency, but ultimately threw their support to
Fayulu.
However,
Fayulu campaigned on promises to end the horrific violence in Congo’s
Kivu Provinces, and Congolese turned out in droves at his rallies. He
is the candidate they no doubt chose, regardless of what the election
commission reports. What recourse will the Congolese have if Kabila
tries to crush their will again? Will the Church point to a way
forward? Will Fayulu? And what about the UNSC?
Archbishop
Utembi concluded by thanking the council for hearing the church’s
report, and said, “We place your Security Council in the hands of
God, hoping that he will guide you in fruitful consultations and
actions that will promote peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo,
our nation.”

Haiphong over een nieuw boek van Dan Kovalik, schrijver, arbeids- en
mensenrechtenadvocaat, maar vooral een anti-imperialist. In zijn
derde boek ‘The
Plot to Control the World: How the US Spent Billions to Change the
Outcome of Elections Around the World’,
gaat Kovalik in op het beïnvloeden door de VS van verkiezingen
elders, een zaak die de VS belastingbetaler al vele miljarden heeft
gekost*. Terwijl de VS nu juist Rusland beschuldigt van dergelijk gedrag (daarover zo meer)……

Mochten
de resultaten van dergelijke smerige beïnvloeding door de VS niet naar wens
zijn, kan je er bijna zeker van zijn, dat de VS een
staatsgreep in een dergelijk land zal organiseren, het liefst via een opstand,
zodat men haar smerige machinaties kan legitimeren……. Veelal gebeurt dit door eerst een ‘stille’ economische oorlog tegen zo’n land te beginnen (door sterke druk uit te oefenen op grote bedrijven die bijvoorbeeld winkelketens in zo’n land hebben en hen te dwingen de winkels niet langer te bevoorraden, zie wat dit betreft Venezuela….), ‘stil’ daar de VS dit uiteraard niet aan de grote klok hangt, gevolg is dan wel dat de bevolking de straat op zal gaan uit ontevredenheid over de persoonlijke (financiële) omstandigheden…..
Wat betreft directe staatsgrepen: neem
Honduras in 2009, destijds hebben Hillary Clinton en de CIA daar een staatsgreep
georganiseerd tegen de democratisch gekozen linkse regering…… Een
staatsgreep die intussen aan duizenden het leven heeft gekost,
daarnaast zijn er veel Hondurezen verdwenen, ofwel ook vermoord door
de Junta die de VS daar parachuteerde….. Voorts zijn een enorm
aantal mensen op de vlucht geslagen, o.a. richting VS (zoals het
grootste deel van de Karavaan die al op weg was naar de VS, vóór de
midterm verkiezingen in dat middels een genocide gestolen
land…….)
Kovalik
noemt ook Rusland als een land waar de VS de verkiezing van de
corrupte alcoholverslaafde Jeltsin in 1996 veiligstelde met een
slordige miljard dollar….. Je zou zelfs kunnen stellen dat de VS
mede verantwoordelijk is voor de ‘oligarchen’ die Rusland destijds hebben
leeggestolen…..
Hoe
durven politici in de VS en de rest van het westen, alsmede de
reguliere massamedia in het westen, nog met de vieze vingers naar
Rusland te wijzen als grote manipulator van de VS
presidentsverkiezingen, terwijl er geen enkel bewijs werd en wordt
geleverd voor deze leugen en de VS zelf overal waar het haar
uitkomt opstanden (zoals gezegd gevoed met een stille economische oorlog), staatsgrepen en illegale oorlogen organiseert,
waar overigens honderden meters aan dossiers met bewijzen voor zijn
te vinden, neem alleen al WikiLeaks en dan m.n. de Vault 7 en 8 documenten op deze (echte) klokkenluiderswebsite……..

Kovalik is a labor and human rights lawyer, but most of all he is an
anti-imperialist and an author of three books. Kovalik’s first two
books tackled the specific US war drives against Russia and Iran. His
third installment, The
Plot to Control the World: How the US Spent Billions to Change the
Outcome of Elections Around the World,
addresses the broad scope of US election meddling abroad. The book
provides much needed political and ideological life support to an
anti-war movement in the U.S that has been rendered nearly invisible
to the naked eye.
The
Plot to Control the World is
as detailed in its critique of U.S. imperialism as it is concise. In
just over 160 pages, Kovalik manages to analyze the various ways that
the U.S. political and military apparatus interferes in the affairs
of nations abroad to achieve global hegemony. He wastes no time in
exposing the devastating lie that is American exceptionalism,
beginning appropriately with the U.S. imperialist occupations of
Haiti and the Philippines at the end of the 19th century and
beginning of the 20th. The U.S. would murder millions of Filipinos
and send both nations into a spiral of violence, instability, and
poverty that continues to this day. As Kovalik explains regarding
Haiti, “While the specific, claimed justifications for [U.S.]
intervention changed over time- e.g., opposing the end of slavery,
enforcing the Monroe Doctrine, fighting Communism, fighting drugs,
restoring law and order — the fact is that the interventions never
stopped and the results for the Haitian people have been invariably
disastrous.”

US
expansionism has relied upon the ideology of American exceptionalism
to silence criticism and weaken anti-war forces in the United States.
American exceptionalism claims that the U.S. is a force for good in
the world and completely justified in its wars of conquest draped in
the cover of spreading “democracy and freedom” around the world.
Kovalik challenges American exceptionalism by showing readers just
how much damage that US expansionism and militarism has caused for
nations and peoples in every region of the planet.Russia, Honduras,
Guatemala, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Vietnam and many
other nations have seen their societies devastated by U.S. “election
meddling.” In Honduras, for example, a U.S.-backed coup of
left-wing President Manuel Zelaya in 2009 made the nation one of the
most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist, indigenous
person, or trade-union/environmental activist. Thousands of
Hondurans have been displaced, disappeared, or assassinated since the
coup.
Another
important aspect of The
Plot to Control the World is
its exposure of U.S hypocrisy surrounding the subject of “election
meddling.” Since the end of the 2016 Presidential elections, the
U.S. military, political, and media branches of the imperialist state
have accused Russia of virtually implanting Donald Trump into the
Oval office. The U.S. public has been fed a steady dose of
anti-Russia talking points in an apparent effort on the part of the
elites to beat the drums of war with the nuclear-armed state. No
evidence has been presented to prove the conspiracy, as a
recent National
Public Radio (NPR) analysis states
plainly. However, there is plenty of evidence that the United States
is the most depraved and dangerous “meddler” in the affairs of
other nations that history has ever known.

Just
ask the much-vaunted Russians. Kovalik devotes an entire chapter to
the 1996 Presidential election in Russia that re-elected the wildly
unpopular Boris Yeltsin. The fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 began
an era of “shock therapy” in the newly erected Russian
Federation, a euphemism for the wholesale theft and transfer of
socialized wealth into the hands of oligarchs and multinational
corporations. Millions would perish in Russia from an early death due
to the sudden loss of healthcare, housing, jobs, and other basic
services. In 1996, President Bill Clinton ensured that Yeltsin
maintained his near total grip on state power in Russia by providing
the Russian President with a team of U.S. political consultants and
over a billion dollars’ worth of IMF monies directly to the
campaign. U.S. political and monetary support allowed Yeltsin to rig
the election in his favor despite his dwindling popularity. Kovalik
shows that if anyone should worry about election meddling, it should
be the people of Russia and not the US elites that control
Washington.
The
Plot to Control the World takes
readers into the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the CIA’s coup
of revolutionary Patrice Lumumba continues to haunt the resource rich
nation in the form of endless US-backed genocide. It travels to
Guatemala, where the CIA overthrow of Jacobo Arbenz led to a
U.S.-backed slaughter of a quarter million Guatemalans under the
auspices of several military dictatorships. Kovalik shows us that the
election of the fascistic Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil was no aberration,
as the U.S. was primarily responsible for the rise in fascism in
Brazil through its direct role in placing the nation under the
control of a military dictatorship in 1964. The military dictatorship
predated the CIA’s ouster of Chile’s Salvador Allende in 1973,
which handed the once socialist state to Augusto Pinochet’s
murderous and repressive leadership.

The
entire skeleton of the U.S. military state is on full display in The
Plot to Control the World.
The U.S. military state utilizes an array of tools to overthrow
democratically-elected governments that it deems to be a threat to
corporate interests. These tools include the U.S. intelligence
agencies, so-called Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) such as the
National Endowment for Democracy, and the various branches of the
military itself, to name a few. Regardless of the tools employed, the
mission is always the same: to destabilize independent nations that
refuses to bow down to the dictates of U.S. imperialism. Thus, while
Nicaragua, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Vietnam may possess
unique histories, their economic and political development has been
shaped by the destructive interference of the United States.
Dan
Kovalik is not likely to be reviewed in the New
York Timesor
other corporate outlets. That’s because Kovalik unapologetically
speaks out against U.S. empire and all that upholds it. In doing so,
Kovalik’s The
Plot to Control the World walks
in the footsteps of anti-imperialists such as Michael Parenti and
William Blum. Blum, a former State Department employee, spent his
post-State Department life providing humanity with knowledge about
how US imperialism operates on the global stage. The New
York Times wasted
no time in slandering
Blum in their obituary .
This showed the great lengths that the ruling elites will go to
discredit, defame, and condemn critics of the military industrial
complex and how important it is for those who oppose war let go of
any expectation that the corporate media will cover Kovalik’s work
or anyone else who speaks out against war.

that said, one of the reasons that the left in the U.S. is so weak is
because it has been numerically and politically isolated by the lies

Despite the ruthlessness of the austerity and incarceration regimes,
many Americans continue to be convinced that the U.S. is the most
exceptional nation in the world and do not balk when its military
wages wars abroad at the expense of U.S. tax dollars and civilian
lives. U.S. imperialism has made sure that Americans feel that they
are special colonizers who see the victims of the U.S. military state
as savages worthy of slaughter. The
Plot to Control the World is
based on a different premise: internationalism. The book links the
struggle against US imperialism to the needs of the oppressed and
working class living in the heart of empire, making it an essential
read for those who are sick and tired of the prevailing narrative of
American exceptionalism and want to be armed with knowledge that is
essential toward changing it.

CET) dat Kabila de Congolese bevolking heeft verzekerd dat het niet uitmaakt dat men in 3 districten pas over 3 maanden kan stemmen……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Inderdaad, maakt niet uit, immers de partij van Kabila, de People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) zal en moet de verkiezingen winnen!!

Kabila heeft na de grote demonstraties in Congo, over zijn beslissing de verkiezingen van 2016 uit te stellen, beloofd af te treden na de komende verkiezingen en heeft zich dan ook terecht niet kandidaat gesteld voor deze verkiezingen. Het voorgaande beste bezoeker is al heel wat als je ziet hoe autocratisch (en corrupt) deze Kabila de laatste bijna 18 jaar het land heeft ‘geregeerd’.
Bedroevend te zien hoe weinig aandacht er in het westen is voor Congo, een enorm groot land waar als zoveel landen in Afrika de westerse kolonisators de grenzen voor een groot deel met linialen hebben getrokken, het recept voor moord en doodslag……… Het land pacificeren op de huidige grootte is zo goed als onmogelijk en lullig genoeg profiteren daarvan vooral de vroegere westerse kolonialisten, in dit geval (de grote) westerse bedrijven, warlords, radicale jihadstrijders en fundamentalistische christenen, waar zoals je begrijpt vooral het volk keer op keer als (het dodelijke) slachtoffer achterblijft…….
