De
CIA heeft bekend gemaakt dat 2% van de slachtoffers, die middels drone
aanvallen worden vermoord door de VS, werkelijk wordt verdacht van
misdaden……… Over misdaden gesproken: deze manier van mensen vermoorden is een zware misdaad volgens het internationaal recht, zelfs een oorlogsmisdaad en sterker nog een misdaad tegen de menselijkheid……..
Het gaat hier om de jacht op verdachten en die dienen gewoon netjes te worden berecht, dit nog naast het feit dat velen die worden vermoord door de VS juist tot hun daden zijn gekomen, door het illegaal oorlogvoeren van de VS in landen waar deze terreurentiteit niets te zoeken heeft…
Tot
nu toe werd aangenomen dat meer dan 90% (tot 95%) van de vermoorde
slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht van misdaden, zelfs dat cijfer
was dus nog veel te laag…..
Obama,
die godbetert de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede kreeg (als de zoveelste
oorlogsmisdadiger) gooide tijdens zijn bewind 100.000 bommen af,
30.000 meer dan zijn voorganger Bush….. Het was Obama die in 7
landen bombardementen uitvoerde, ook in Pakistan, Somalië en Jemen,
waar hij in de laatste 3 landen met de hiervoor genoemde ‘uiterst
succesvolle’ drone aanvallen bombardeerde……. Daarnaast was ‘vredesduif’ Obama de eerste president van de VS die de volle 2 termijnen in (illegale) oorlogen was verwikkeld…….
Echter het kan ‘nog beter’ beste bezoeker: alleen
in 2017 gooide Trump al meer dan 44.000 bommen af en dat op dezelfde
landen als Obama, de andere 4 landen zijn uiteraard: Afghanistan, Irak, Libië
en Syrië, landen waar de VS illegaal oorlogen is begonnen….. Die 44.000 bommen geven aan dat de VS elke 12 minuten
een bom laat vallen, dit 24 uur per dag, 7 dagen in de week en 365
dagen per jaar…….
Niet
vreemd als je nagaat dat Trump het Pentagon de vrije hand heeft
gegeven hoe illegaal oorlog te voeren en ook voor het inzetten van meer
militairen en materieel hoeft het Pentagon niet meer aan te kloppen bij Trump, de
senaat of het huis van afgevaardigden……..

besloten dat vluchtelingen bijvoorbeeld uit Zuid- en Midden-Amerika
niet langer kunnen rekenen op asiel als ze geweld in eigen land
ontvluchten, of dat nu geweld is van huiselijke, gender, dan wel van politieke aard is, ook slachtoffers van geweld door misdaadbendes kunnen het voor een groot deel vergeten………… Uiteraard hoort daar ook geweld als verkrachting toe……
Je snapt dat Sessions de zaak niet zo heeft gesteld als in de kop vermeld staat, echter als je zijn achterlijke, inhumane verhaal hoort, is dat zo ongeveer de enige mogelijkheid……
Deze
enorme schoft stelt dat het niet genoeg is als de vluchteling stelt
dat zijn/haar, regering niets doet tegen het geweld dat die persoon
ondervindt. De vluchteling moet aantonen dat zijn/haar regering ofwel
het geweld vergoelijkt dan wel bewezen niets heeft gedaan om geweld
te voorkomen……. Met andere woorden, dit is de VVD variant: je
bent pas een echte vluchteling als je dood bent……. Tja dan zou je
als je nog leefde althans, aan kunnen tonen dat de regering niets
heeft gedaan…….
Bovendien
heb je veeleer te maken met lokale autoriteiten, ofwel een regering
kan van goede wil zijn, maar als een verkrachter of moordenaar
bevriend is met de lokale corrupte machthebber, kan je het alsnog
schudden……..
Dan
nog hebben we het woord vluchteling: iemand vlucht als de situatie
onhoudbaar is en hij/zij en of naasten dan wel kinderen gevaar lopen
te worden vermoord >> op zo’n moment heb je niet eens de kans iets dergelijks te
bewijzen, immers je zal hals over kop moeten vluchten….
Trouwens hoe bewijs je dat een regering niets doet tegen
geweld? De bewuste regering zelf zal dit als allereerste ontkennen,
je mag dan wel een onderzoekbureau tot je beschikking hebben om een
groot aantal gevallen van onwil aan te kunnen tonen……
Nogmaals, nu ook in de VS: een echte vluchteling is een dode vluchteling………
Je
zou gvd hopen dat figuren als Sessions fiks ziek worden, hun hele
hebben en houden kwijtraken en met hun gezin in dezelfde situatie
terechtkomen als waar de vluchtelingen mee te maken hebben, en bij
een asielaanvraag te maken krijgen met dezelfde houding die figuren
als Sessions aan de dag leggen en dat graag voor de rest van hun
miezerige, inhumane schoftenbestaan….. Maar ja, gerechtigheid
bestaat niet (triester nog: zelfs een poging om je recht te halen wordt steeds moeilijker, zoals ook dit
bericht weer aantoont….)
Sessions stelt dat misbruik maken met de huidige regels te makkelijk is, terwijl mensenrechten advocaten dit met klem tegenspreken, het is bijzonder moeilijk om asiel in de VS te krijgen…… Sessions gaat met zijn besluit, precies als de EU met de Turkije deal, recht in tegen het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag………

‘Horrific’:
Sessions Says Survivors of Domestic and Gang Violence Will No Longer
Qualify for Asylum

In
just the latest addition to the Trump administration’s
mounting collectionof
“cruel” policies aimed at closing off the nation to
refugees and asylum-seekers, Attorney General Jeff Sessions released
a new Justice Department guidance on Monday declaring that migrants
will no longer automatically qualify for asylum if they present
concerns of domestic abuse or gang violence.
“In
what world does the United States turn its back on people who have
suffered persecution, trauma, and extreme distress from domestic or
gang violence?” said Denise Bell, a researcher for refugee and
migrant rights at Amnesty International USA. “Today’s decision
is a direct assault on people seeking protection, especially families
fleeing persecution in Central America.”
“This
is horrific,” tweetedone
observer. “This is plain cruel,” respondedGavin
Newsom, California’s lieutenant governor. “A
disgrace,” concludeda
law professor. “Can they go any lower?” remarked Rep. Raul
Grijalva (D-Ariz.).
“The
mere fact that a country may have problems effectively policing
certain crimes or that certain populations are more likely to be
victims of crime, cannot itself establish an asylum claim,”
Sessions’ guidance (pdf)
states. “An applicant seeking to establish persecution based on
violent conduct of a private actor must show more than the
government’s difficulty controlling private behavior. The applicant
must show that the government condoned the private actions or
demonstrated an inability to protect the victims.”
Sessions
first revealed that he would release the revised asylum policy during
a speechto
the nation’s immigration judges on Monday. In the address, he claimed
“the asylum system is being abused to the detriment of the rule
of law, sound public policy, and public safety,” and that “the
vast majority of the current asylum claims are not valid.”
But
immigrants rights advocates pointed out that the asylum process is
already incredibly difficult, and now it will be even harder for
those fleeing violence to seek protection.
Those
assertions followed an earlier decision, as CNNexplained,
to use “a little-known authority to refer immigration cases to
himself for review, allowing him to almost single-handedly direct how
immigration law is interpreted in this country.”

6 Cartoons a US Newspaper Doesn’t Want You to See
(FAIR) The
work of Rob Rogers, longtime political cartoonist for the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette,
has been notably absent from his paper’s opinion page during this
past week. Aside from a cartoon criticizing the trade war posted on
Tuesday, June
5,
the most recent of Rogers’ drawings appeared last Thursday, May
24.
So
where was Rogers all of last week? He did not simply “have the day
off,” as printed in last Tuesday’s issue of the Post-Gazette.
Keith
Burris, the Post-Gazette’s editorial director since
March, when it merged its editorial board with the co-owned
Toledo Blade, refused to publish six of Rogers’
cartoons in a row. Four were directly critical of President Donald
Trump, and two alluded to racism.
Despite
not being published in the Post-Gazette, Rogers continued
posting these cartoons on Twitter, as he does with all of
his work.
May
25’s cartoon portrayed
a referee calling penalties for exercising free speech, disrespecting
the troops and eliciting Trump tweetstorms, in light of the NFL’s
announcement of their new
rule dictating
players must stand during the national anthem:

May 30, he criticizedthe
NFL again, joking it was closed for “racial ignorance training”
in light of Starbucks closing many of its locations for racial
sensitivity training:

Memorial Day sketchdepicted
a caricature of Trump placing a wreath on the grave of Truth,
Honor and the Rule of Law:

June 1 cartooncriticized
Trump for his immigration policies…

on June 3, Rogers satirizedTrump’s

None
of these cartoons appeared in the Post-Gazette, despite
Rogers being the paper’s full-time staff political cartoonist.
Burris
frequently writes in support of Trump for the Post-Gazette’s
opinion section. In “Can Roseanne Restore Our Sense of Proportion?”
(4/8/18),
Burris referred to “Trump-hate” as “a mania, a fever, a hissy
fit by the self-anointed guardians of all that is good and
enlightened in America.” He argued:
God
help you if you actually like some of what Mr. Trump does and dislike
other things that he does or says. You are, in the words of a church
lady who confronted me one day, “complicit.”
Burris wrote
an editorial in January (1/15/18)
headlined “Reason as Racism,” which defended Trump’s
description of developing nations as “shithole countries,” and
likened being called racist today with being labeled a Communist
during the McCarthy Era.
The
paper’s publisher, John Robinson Block of Block
Communications,
which owns both the Post-Gazette and
the Blade,
insisted that the piece be printed, according
to Post-Gazette reporter
Michael A. Fuoco (CJR, 1/22/18).
Fuoco went on to describe the dread he and the other newsroom
employees felt in the wake of the piece’s publishing.
Block
is an open Trump
supporter,
who (accompanied by Burris) met with Trump on his private plane in
2016 following a campaign rally, tweeting it was “a more than
memorable experience” (9/22/16).
He also suggested at a community forum on racism in 2013
(Toledo Blade, 9/17/13)
that people of color should “pull themselves up by their
bootstraps” like they did in the “old days”.
Burris’
article was so incendiary that the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh,
which noted it does not, as a rule, comment on editorials, felt the
need to denounce the piece, calling it “repugnant.” One hundred
and fifty of the Post-Gazette’s newsroom employees
signed the letter.
The
paper did not publish the Guild’s
letter,
or another signed
by 23 Post-Gazette staff
members (CJR, 1/22/18)–omissions
that seem to foreshadow the paper’s new editorial director’s
distaste for dissenting opinion.
The Blade,
however, ran Burris’ response to the backlash against his piece in
a column headlined “The Left’s War on Thought” (1/26/18).
Whena Philadelphia
Inquirer reporter
(6/4/18)
reached out to Rogers for comment, Rogers said he was unable to speak
of the incident, but confirmed he was still employed by the paper.
The piece also noted Burris did not respond.
This
morning (6/6/18),
in a series of three tweets, Rogers thanked his readers and
colleagues for their support, but announced he would be taking some
time off from the Post-Gazette while
the issue is being resolved. “I love what I do,” he tweeted:

more than ever, I believe in the power of satire and the public
dialogue that it can create. Thank you for being part of that
dialogue.
The
paper ran the latest Rogers cartoon without an acknowledgement of the
cartoonist’s absence over the past week. Rogers’ supporters
denounced the censorship with comments on the paper’s website like:

Newsday cartoonist
Matt Davies came out in support of Rogers on Twitter(6/5/18),
saying good editors publish that which they disagree with. This would
seem to echo the lessons Burris himself (Post-Gazette, 3/4/18)
says he learned from John Craig, the editor who first hired him for
paper, who said that a good journalist “has no side or tribe,”
and that an opinion writer “must have roots but no permanent
alliances.”
Local
outlets like the Inquirer and CBS
Pittsburgh (6/4/18),
as well as CNN
Money (6/4/18),
have picked up on the story of Rogers’ censorship, but it has yet
to appear on larger national sites like the New
York Times or NPR.

to Fund Original News Shows From “Trustworthy” Outlets Like
CNN and Fox News
In
an effort to improve its credibility, Facebook is launching original
news shows with mainstream networks like ABC, Fox
News,
and CNN.
Amid ongoing controversies and
widespread public distrust of the platform — as well as widespread
public apprehension toward the political, media, and corporate
establishment at large — it is unclear how Facebook intends to
leverage these outlets to build trust.
Variety,
an entertainment industry outlet, reported Wednesday
that the new effort “is
partly aimed at driving up viewing on its Facebook
Watchplatform
— but it also is supposed to demonstrate the social-media giant’s
commitment to funding trustworthy journalism.”
The
initiative, to be introduced this summer, is led by a mainstream
reporter-turned-Facebook employee. Campbell Brown, Facebook’s head
of global news partnerships, was previously a host for CNN and
worked as a reporter for NBC
News.
“Given
this is our first step into this, we wanted to have a diverse slate
of shows that could deliver different things,” she
said of the new program. Other participants include Univision, Mic,
and ATTN.
“Earlier
this year we made a commitment to
show news that is trustworthy, informative, and local on Facebook. As
a part of that commitment, we are creating a dedicated section within
Watch for news shows produced exclusively for Facebook by news
publishers. With this effort, we are testing a destination for high
quality and timely news content on the platform.”
The
move comes as Facebook moves to discontinue its “trending news”
service, which has been accused of spreading fake information (the
platform will instead implement a “breaking news” feature,
working with 80 different outlets around the world in a project
separate from it’s mainstream Watch programming).
To
be sure, Facebook has served as a breeding ground for wildly
inaccurate “news” stories from highly questionable outlets.
However,
despite Facebook’s stated intention to combat this type of fake
news, it is no secret that outlets like CNN and Fox
News have disingenuously helped
perpetuate society-wide submission to corrupt, exploitative agendas
by baiting the public with divide and conquer tactics
and distractions.
CNN,
which dubs itself “the
most trusted name in news,” spends
much of its airtime obsessing over Russia, the Mueller investigation,
Stormy Daniels, and other topics that are comparatively superficial
in light of bipartisan policies that destroy the world and infringe
upon people’s basic rights. They have been caught on multiple
instances pushing incorrect
information and
selectively reporting stories. For example, one “exclusive report”
on Libya’s burgeoning human slave trade failed to acknowledge that
a major catalyzing force for the trade’s growth was the Obama
administration’s toppling of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Fox
News,
too, is an egregious perpetuator of manipulative narratives, and the
outlet’s hosts spend much of their time covering petty issues. In
one instance, earlier this year, Fox
and Friends pundits
had a meltdown over
the NFL’s decision to broadcast potential national anthem protests
at the Super Bowl (they did not actually occur). Fox was
also a major contributor to
the push for the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Both outlets,
along with MSNBC, ABC, NBC,
and CBS have
been found to
spread falsehoods on a regular basis as pundits prattle on, peddling
establishment viewpoints.
These
mainstream outlets also push emotionally charged, vitriolic opinions,
and to a large extent, these divides are evident in the comment
sections of political Facebook posts.
Despite
Facebook’s cozying up to mainstream outlets, Variety reports
that both Fox
News and CNN previously complained about
Facebook’s approach to news. “It
was important to us that there was a fair value exchange, which there
hasn’t always been,” said
Andrew Morse, CNN’s
EVP and GM of CNN Digital
Worldwide, while speaking about the new programming deal. Anderson
Cooper will host CNN’s
Facebook show while Shep Smith will helm Fox’s.
The
move follows not only claims of Facebook spreading dis- and
mis-information but also suppressing reach
for many large pages not deemed “trustworthy.” Independent news
organizations, in particular, have complained that their followers
now rarely see their posts.
Regardless
of this new program, public trust in mainstream news sources at large
continues to drop.
While this seems promising, unfortunately, much of this distrust is
also associated with part of the population’s unquestioning trust
in President Donald Trump as many of his supporters tend to reject
news that discredits or criticizes him.
As
Facebook continues to serve as a mouthpiece for the establishment —
and as it continues to work with
the government to police the internet — the need for decentralized
alternatives like Steemit, Minds, and othersthat
do not censor their users or promote propaganda is increasingly
apparent.

hij het nieuws bracht dat Iran de VS gaat aanklagen (bij het

Iran
doet dit n.a.v. uitlatingen die Trump deed voordat hij aantrad als
president, meermaals liet hij destijds weten dat Obama en Hillary
Clinton in feite ISIS hebben opgericht en gesteund in de vreselijke
terreur die deze groep uitoefende op de bevolking van Irak en
Syrië……. Trump
stelde voorts dat Clinton verantwoordelijk was voor de snelle groei
van IS.
Iran hoeft niet veel moeite te doen om haar zaak hard te
maken. Zo vertelde Michael Flynn aan Al Jazeera dat het een
weloverwogen beslissing van de VS was om IS te steunen……
Deze aanklacht van Iran staat in schril contrast tot de uitspraak van een rechter in de VS die Iran verantwoordelijk stelde voor de 911 aanvallen, ondanks dat daar geen flinter van bewijs voor is….. Bewijs daarvoor hoeft niet eens gezocht te worden, daar de terreurgroep die de VS aanwees als dader voor de 911 aanvallen Al Qaida is en als er één land is waar terreurgroepen als Al Qaida en IS de pest aan hebben, is het wel het sjiitische Iran, het gaat tenslotte om soennitische terreurgroepen……..
Iran had wel degelijk te lijden onder terreuraanvallen van IS, daar is geen twijfel aan…..

To Bring International Lawsuit Against “ISIS Founder”
America Based On Trump Statements
After
a US federal judge in New York ordered Iran to pay billions of
dollars to the families of victims of the September 11 terror attacks
earlier this month in a largely
symbolic default judgement,
Iran is reportedly prepping to sue Washington for terror attacks
carried out against Tehran within the last year.
Iran
says the
US is responsible for the rise of ISIS,
and is therefore indirectly to blame for twin terror attacks that
rocked the Iranian parliament building and a popular religious shrine
in June 2017, which left 17
civilians dead and 43 wounded,
according to Iranian media figures.
“During
the presidential campaign, Trump clearly spoke about the performance
of his rival, Mrs. Clinton, saying that the US has created the
ISIL,” Abolfazl
Aboutorabi, a member of parliament’s judicial
commission, announced on
Tuesday in comments carried by Iranian state media. “The
public prosecutor has also filed a lawsuit in this regard,”
Aboutorabi added.
Iran
hopes the initiative will shine an international spotlight on the
Obama administration’s role in facilitating the rise of ISIS in Iraq
and Syria — something
President Trump repeatedly affirmed while on the campaign trail.
Trump
also famously blamed
then Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the rapid
rise of ISIS,
especially in relation to policies she oversaw in Libya and Syria as
Obama’s Secretary of State.
Trump
first told his
supporters in January 2016 that “Hillary
Clinton created ISIS with Obama.” And
in a CBS 60 Minutes interview that aired July 17, 2016, he
said again,
“Hillary Clinton invented ISIS with her stupid policies.”
Trump:
Obama and “crooked Hillary Clinton” are the “founder”
and “co-founder” of ISIS:
It’s
the first time in history that a candidate who would go on to become
president has blamed his predecessor for founding a terrorist group.
A
fairly consistent theme of Trump on the campaign trail was that Obama
and Hillary’s massive covert aid program to Islamist “rebels”
in places like Libya and Syria facilitated the terror group’s rapid
growth. He
also blamed Obama’s hasty troop pullout from Iraq.
Long
before joining the Trump campaign, former Defense Intelligence Chief
under Obama Michael Flynn told Al-Jazeera it was a “willful
decision” to support jihadists groups in Syria that included
ISIS:

A
revealing light on how we got here has now been shone by a
recently declassified secret US intelligence report, written in
August 2012,
which uncannily predicts – and effectively
welcomes – the prospect of a “Salafist principality” in eastern
Syria and an al-Qaida-controlled Islamic state in Syria and Iraq. In
stark contrast to western claims at the time, the Defense
Intelligence Agency document identifies
al-Qaida in Iraq (which became Isis) and fellow Salafists as the
“major forces driving the insurgency in Syria” –
and states that “western countries, the Gulf states and Turkey”
were supporting the opposition’s efforts to take control of eastern
Syria.
Raising
the “possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist
principality”, the Pentagon report goes on, “this
is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in
order to isolate the Syrian regime,
which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq
and Iran)”.
It
appears that Trump’s provocative charge of Obama and Clinton being
the “co-founders of ISIS” — statements made
a year after the Pentagon intelligence memo’s initial release — were
likely the direct result of his reading the Pentagon memo and
accompanying media commentary.
In
June of 2016 Trump tweeted
a story linking
to the Pentagon memo which opened
with: “Hillary
Clinton received a classified intelligence report stating that the
Obama administration was actively supporting Al Qaeda in Iraq, the
terrorist group that became the Islamic State.” Trump
said of himself concerning his accusations against Obama and Hillary
made that summer: “But he’s right”.
At
the time, multiple Iranian state media outlets also featured the
Pentagon document, while also highlighting then candidate Trump’s
statements blaming the Obama administration.
It
is this past commentary that Iran will utilize to make its case that
the US is to blame for the 2017 ISIS terror attacks inside Iran,
which it plans to file with the international court, according
to FARS
News Agency.
The 2012 Pentagon memo, which has since 2015 been available
to the public,
will likely play a central role in Iran’s presentation of the case.
Iran’s
parliamentary judicial committee spokesman noted, “there
is nothing more reliable than a claim raised by a country’s
president.”
In
the summer of 2017 Trump announced that he shut
down the CIA’s covert program to
train and arm anti-Assad militants in Syria after he reportedly saw a
video of “CIA vetted rebels” beheading a child in Aleppo.

On
this day in 1830, Congress passed “The Indian Removal Act” which
permitted the forceful and sometimes violent removal of Native
Americans from their homes, towns, villages and farms in the
Southeastern United States.
A
few years later, thousands of Cherokee landowners and landowners of
other nations were removed from their homes and farms by the State of
Georgia, held in prison camps and then sent on an 800 mile forced
march to Oklahoma which left at least 2,000 dead.
The
land was theirs.
A
fraudulent treaty had been foisted on them “agreeing” to a
one-sided deal in which they “traded” their prime agricultural
land – which they were farming expertly – for a reservation in
Oklahoma.
The
Cherokee people appealed to the Supreme Court which struck down the
bogus treaty as fraudulent.
Andrew
Jackson’s response: “John Marshall has made his decision; now let
him enforce it.”
15,000
militia descended on the region removing native people from their
homes at gunpoint and under threat of violence.
Speculators
pounced on the stolen land and turned it into an empire of
slavery-fueled plantations.

Drie dagen voordat Trump zich terugtrok van de onderhandelingen met Kim Yung-un, zei oorlogshitser en grootlobbyist van het militair-industrieel complex, Bolton dat de onderhandelingen met Noord-Korea van hetzelfde kaliber zijn als die met Libië, zo’n 13 jaar voordat het bewind van Khadaffi omver werd geworpen door de illegale oorlog die de VS en NAVO coalitie tegen Libië begon……
Des te opvallender de opmerking van het beest Trump, hij heeft het gesprek met Kim afgezegd vanwege de agressieve woorden die Noord-Korea zou hebben gebruikt…….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Een enorm grote pot, verwijt een piepklein keteltje zwart te zien!
Leeghoofd Mike Pence probeerde de (agressieve) woorden van Bolton tevergeefs af te zwakken, met te stellen dat Noord-Korea hetzelfde lot te wachten staat als Libië, wanneer Noord-Korea niet akkoord zou gaan met de voorwaarden van de VS…. Ofwel: de besprekingen tussen Trump en Kim waren bedoeld voor de bühne en Kim werd alleen geacht z’n handtekening te zetten onder de voorwaarden zoals de VS die zou dicteren……..
Uiteraard heeft Noord-Korea daarop zelf voorwaarden gesteld……
Overigens werd gisteren, bekend gemaakt dat ondanks de afzegging van Trump, Noord-Korea bereid blijft te praten* (zo die kunnen de hufters Trump, Bolton en Pence in hun zak steken!).
Vanmorgen werd bekend gemaakt dat Trump nu toch wil praten met Kim, al hoef je niet op te kijken als hij het uiteindelijk toch af laat weten….. Om te beginnen zal de VS van Noord-Korea opnieuw eisen de zaken te tekenen die de VS het land voorlegt, ofwel wat stelt het overleg tussen Trump en Kim dan nog voor??

Brilliant Strategy of Offering North Korea the ‘Libya Model’ Somehow Falls Through
Three days before President Trump announced him as the new National Security Advisor, deranged mutant death walrus John Bolton appeared on Radio Free Asia and said of negotiations with North Korea, “I think we should insist that if this meeting is going to take place, it will be similar to discussions we had with Libya 13 or 14 years ago.”
Bolton has been loudly and publicly advocating “the Libya model” with the DPRK ever since.
“I think we’re looking at the Libya model of 2003, 2004,” Bolton said on Face the Nation last month, and said the same on Fox News Sunday in case anyone failed to get the message.
Bolton never bothered to refine his message by saying, for example, “Without the part where we betray and invade them and get their leader mutilated to death in the streets.” He just said they’re doing Libya again.
This was what John Bolton was saying before he was hired, and this was what John Bolton continued to say after he was hired. This was what John Bolton was hired to do. He was hired to sabotage peace and facilitate death and destruction. That is what he does. That is what he is for. Can openers open cans, John Bolton starts wars. You don’t buy a can opener to rotate your tires, and you don’t hire John Bolton to facilitate peace.
It should have surprised no one, then, when the administration saw Bolton’s Libya comments and raised him a canceled peace talk.
“You know, there were some talk about the Libya model last week,” Vice President Pence told Fox News on Saturday. “And you know, as the president made clear, you know, this will only end like the Libya model ended if Kim Jong-un doesn’t make a deal.”
“Some people saw that as a threat,” Fox’s Martha MacCallum replied, because there is no other way it could possibly be interpreted.
Pence blathered something about it being “a fact”, not a threat, but that is because he is a fake plastic doll manufactured by Raytheon. It was an extremely obvious and blatant threat, so of course North Korea responded accordingly. Below is the full text of the response to Pence’s statement by North Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, which reportedly was the basis for Trump’s cancellation of the scheduled summit in Singapore:
“At an interview with Fox News on May 21, US Vice-President Pence made unbridled and impudent remarks that North Korea might end like Libya, military option for North Korea never came off the table, the US needs complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation, and so on.
As a person involved in the US affairs, I cannot suppress my surprise at such ignorant and stupid remarks gushing out from the mouth of the US vice-president.
If he is vice-president of “single superpower” as is in name, it will be proper for him to know even a little bit about the current state of global affairs and to sense to a certain degree the trends in dialogue and the climate of détente.
We could surmise more than enough what a political dummy he is as he is trying to compare the DPRK, a nuclear weapon state, to Libya that had simply installed a few items of equipment and fiddled around with them.
Soon after the White House National Security Adviser Bolton made the reckless remarks, Vice-President Pence has again spat out nonsense that the DPRK would follow in Libya’s footstep.
It is to be underlined, however, that in order not to follow in Libya’s footstep, we paid a heavy price to build up our powerful and reliable strength that can defend ourselves and safeguard peace and security in the Korean peninsula and the region.
In view of the remarks of the US high-ranking politicians who have not yet woken up to this stark reality and compare the DPRK to Libya that met a tragic fate, I come to think that they know too little about us.
To borrow their words, we can also make the US taste an appalling tragedy it has neither experienced nor even imagined up to now.
Before making such reckless threatening remarks without knowing exactly who he is facing, Pence should have seriously considered the terrible consequences of his words.
It is the US who has asked for dialogue, but now it is misleading the public opinion as if we have invited them to sit with us.
I only wonder what is the ulterior motive behind its move and what is it the US has calculated to gain from that.
We will neither beg the US for dialogue nor take the trouble to persuade them if they do not want to sit together with us.
Whether the US will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision and behavior of the United States.
In case the US offends against our goodwill and clings to unlawful and outrageous acts, I will put forward a suggestion to our supreme leadership for reconsidering the DPRK-US summit.”
Trump cancels North Korea summit? Actually John Bolton already torpedoed it by telling North Korea to self destruct with the “Libya model”. This was perfect warmonger strategy to stop the threat of peace breaking out on the Peninsula. South Korea, please stay the course!
The message of Trump’s withdrawal couldn’t be more clear: we get to threaten you, you don’t get to threaten us. This extremely one-sided dynamic is not a style of negotiation that any sane person would go along with if they didn’t have to, and as Choe pointed out, North Korea doesn’t have to. Libya had only the barest rudiments of what could have eventually one day become a nuclear program. North Korea has a full arsenal, and thus a much bigger stack of bargaining chips. A negotiation at gunpoint can only be one-sided if the other side has no gun.
This negotiation was never meant to succeed. Publicly stating that North Korea gets “the Libya model” was like a hostage negotiator offering “the Waco model”. It was plainly designed to fail.
Of course the US-centralized empire has no intention of a mutually beneficial negotiation with a sovereign nation. That isn’t how imperialism works. You either join the mass of tightly allied nations which function in effective unison on foreign policy, or you are smashed like Libya. This policy of threatening nations to join the empire on pain of decimation is what is causing all nonconforming nations to form into a growing and increasingly close alliance of their own, and it is what is causing them to seek nuclear weapons so that they don’t end up like Libya.
If there’s a silver lining to be found in all of this, it was summed up by the Ron Paul Liberty Report’s Daniel McAdams:
“I think Trump is making America great again by making America irrelevant. We are irrelevant in the North and South peace talks right now. The ball is completely in [South Korea President] Moon’s court, what is he going to do next; we’ve basically recused ourselves from the whole process. Which is very, very good for us. So I feel rather upbeat. I think although it’s always better to talk to people, and it would be better to talk, but in the current environment, for us to get out of the way is really the non-interventionist position.”
America getting out of the way would be great for everyone, especially for the Americans whose resources are being relentlessly consumed by constant aggressive interventionism and an oligarchy whose vastly disproportionate wealth is propped up with the barrel of a gun. The natural drive of plutocratic smash-and-grab imperialism is in the exact opposite direction of non-interventionism, but as people continue to wake up from the madness and the rest of the world refuses to be consumed by the blob, it’s possible that the empire ends not with a bang but with a barely noticed fizzle. Approves Army’s Use of Live Sniper Fire Against Gaza Protesters

than 60 Palestinians were killed in Gaza over two days (AFP)
(MEE) — Israel’s
Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously dismissed a petition by two
human rights groups that accused Israel’s military of violating the
law by using snipers and live ammunition against peaceful Palestinian
protesters in Gaza.
Defence
Minister Avigdor Liberman praised the ruling on Twitter: “The High
Court of Justice unanimously rejected the petitions of the pestering
left-wing Zionist organisations against the IDF’s strong and
steadfast stance against the enemy in Gaza.
“It
is time for you to understand that while you are trying to strengthen
our enemy, the IDF is also protecting you,” Liberman said,
referring to Israel’s military.
The
petition called out Israel for using “excessive force” and said
that its “open-fire policy is illegal”.
“The
military informed the supreme court that it shoots people in Gaza who
are allegedly ‘leading inciters or breachers of order’; they did
not claim that the people shot were armed or that they posed an
immediate threat to the lives of others,” it read.
“This
is a violation of international law, amounting to willful killing and
injury, and constituting war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome
Statute,” the petition said.
Major
protests took place across the Palestinian territories last Wednesday
as the United States transferred its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem
from Tel Aviv.
Smaller
protests took place last Thursday, the 70th anniversary of the Nakba,
or “catastrophe,” when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were
forced into exile as Israel was created in 1948.
More
than 60 Palestinians were killed along the Gaza border over two
days, and a teen who died on Wednesday was the first killed in West
Bank protests. More than 2,770 others were injured, including 225
children and 86 women.
The
casualties raised the death toll since 30 March, the day when the
six-week Gaza “Great March of Return” began, to 119.
The
Israeli army insists its actions are necessary to defend the border
and prevent mass infiltrations. Still, rights groups said many people
who were killed were nowhere near the fence that Israel had erected
on Palestinian territory in Gaza.
Palestinians
had at various times agreed to having the eastern part of Jerusalem
as their capital.
The
US embassy move led the Palestinian leadership to cut ties with US

Threatens to ‘Crush’ Iran, Vows ‘Strongest Sanctions in
History’
(ANTIWAR.COM) — Setting
up a new level of hostility toward Iran after the US withdrew from
the P5+1 nuclear deal, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo promised
“unprecedented financial pressure” Monday in comments to the
Heritage Foundation. He said the US would impose the “strongest
sanctions in history”
against the Iranians.
“We
will track down Iranian operatives and their Hezbollah proxies
operating around the world and crush them,” Pompeo said.
The
justification for this was a vague mention of Iran being a “malign
influence,” and false allegations that they have “nuclear
ambitions,” despite Iran still being a part of a nuclear deal which
limits them to only a very small civilian nuclear program.
Pompeo
said sanctions are in full effect and more are coming. He further
issued a broad
string of demands on the Iranians.
This included withdrawing all forces from Syria, and totally ending
support for both Hezbollah and Hamas.
Asking
Iran to withdraw all “forces” from Syria is likely not possible
for them to comply with, as US officials have generally presented
Shi’ite militias who aren’t from Iran in the first place as
“Iranian controlled” force. Iran could no more expel these
Shi’ites from Syria than the US could remove all Kurdish forces
from Syria.
Whether
the demands are reasonable, or practical, is neither here nor there
anyhow. That’s because Pompeo is not suggesting that compliance
with all of these demands would mean an end to sanctions. Even if he
did, the US just got done reneging on sanctions relief toward Iran
with the nuclear deal.
The
Trump Administration wanted out of the nuclear deal to start
ratcheting up sanctions, which they see as an end unto themselves.
Having done so, Pompeo is just bragging about how great those
sanctions will be, not implying that there is any way to avoid them.
