De
Iraanse president Hassan Rohani heeft gisteren in een tv boodschap de
bezettingstroepen van de VS en de EU in het Midden-Oosten gewaarschuwd dat zij gevaar lopen…… Uiteraard is deze waarschuwing n.a.v. de terroristische daad van de VS, het vermoorden van de Iraanse legerleider Qassem Soleimani* op een vliegveld bij Bagdad, waarbij de VS ook nog eens het risico nam veel burgerslachtoffers te vermoorden bij die terroristische daad……

De EU kreeg er extra van langs daar dit ondemocratische orgaan Iran beloofde te
helpen nadat Trump zich terugtrok uit het nucleaire verdrag met Iran (JCPOA of: P5+1 nucleaire deal),
ofwel de EU heeft Iran beloofd de sancties te compenseren, sancties die de VS illegaal oplegde aan dat land. Van die compensatie is dus niets terechtgekomen, men laat in de EU liever
de oren hangen naar de grote psychopathisch gewelddadige en seksistische kleuter Trump in het Witte
Huis, dit zelfs nog nadat dezelfde psychopaat de EU onterecht importbeperkingen
oplegde….. Sterker nog: een aantal EU lidstaten waaronder Nederland zijn op de oproep van Trump ingegaan om fregatten te sturen naar de Straat van Hormuz, dit vanwege de zogenaamde Iraanse agressie in de regio……. Klopt niet helemaal: Nederland volgt Frankrijk, dat zogenaamd niet wilde ingaan op de vraag van Trump fregatten te sturen en nam het initiatief voor een ‘EU marine missie’ naar de straat van Hormuz, terwijl het hier (inclusief de VS) alleen om NAVO-lidstaten gaat….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! (voorlopig dus wel de eerste tekenen van een EU leger……)
Als er één terreurstaat is die de stabiliteit in de regio grondig heeft verstoord en blijft verstoren is dat de VS wel….. Saoedi-Arabië staat wat betreft agressie en destabilisatie op nummer 2 met haar steun voor terreur in Irak en Syrië, om niet de genocide te vergeten die S-A in buurland Jemen uitvoert op de sjiitische burgers in dat land….. Nog ver voor Iran volgt dan Israël dat sinds haar illegale stichting honderdduizenden moorden heeft begaan op de Palestijnen……
Rohani
stelde dat de VS troepen in het Midden-Oosten niet langer veilig zijn
en de EU bezettingstroepen zouden morgen al in gevaar kunnen
verkeren…… Heb je dat gehoord CDA huppeltrut Bijleveld? Nog
steeds van plan een Nederlands fregat naar de Straat van Hormuz te
zenden en wil je nog steeds onze troepen niet terugtrekken uit
Irak??? Alleen al die weigering geeft aan dat Nederland inderdaad een
bezettingsmacht is en dat in een soeverein land dat grondig naar god is geholpen door ons en andere NAVO-lidstaten, dit in een illegale
oorlog die tot nu toe aan 2 miljoen Irakezen het leven heeft
gekost….. (en ja dat heeft ons Nederlanders tot moordenaars en
oorlogsmisdadigers gemaakt…..)
Het
volgende artikel komt van Money and Markets en werd geschreven door
Eugene Townes. Hij stelt dat de Iraanse politie met scherp op
betogers heeft geschoten, letterlijk: “showing Iranian police using
live ammunition against protesters”, echter zo duidelijk is het
allemaal niet en het bewind ontkent dat de politie met scherp heeft
geschoten, echter het zou goed mogelijk zijn, vergeet niet dat veel
van de protesten in Iran uiterst gewelddadig zijn verlopen, waarbij
men het leven van agenten op het spel zette…… Niet zo vreemd als
je beseft dat die protesten worden georganiseerd door de CIA, wat de
VS nota bene zelf heeft toegegeven……… Overigens wel goed dat Townes
er nog eens op wijst dat vlucht PS752 door raketten werd
neergehaald, uren nadat Iran een van te voren aangekondigde aanval
uitvoerde op 2 VS bases in Irak en men een tegenaanval
van de VS verwachtte….. (uiteraard maakt dat het neerhalen van die vlucht
niet goed te praten, een vreselijke gebeurtenis ook voor veel Iraniërs, echter
het zet zaken wel in een ander perspectief……)
‘Danger
Tomorrow’: Iran’s Rouhani Threatens US, EU Troops in Middle East
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani
made an appearance on a state-run television station Wednesday, and
in an angry rant he made some veiled threats against the United
States and Europe’s occupation in the Middle East, and he
especially targeted the EU for failing to maintain the 2015 Iranian
nuclear deal.
Rouhani called U.S. troops
stationed in the Middle East “insecure,” and he said EU troops
“might be in danger tomorrow,” according to a Reuters translation
of the speech. It was the first time Rouhani had made a direct threat
against European troops occupying the region.
Rouhani has been calling for U.S.
troops to leave the region, and he contests that their presence has
made the Middle East less secure. He also demanded that the U.S.
“apologize to Tehran” for its “previous crimes.” Those
previous crimes could include a drone
strike earlier this month that killed top Iranian military
commander Qasem Soleimani.
U.S.
troop presence in the region over the past year has increased
greatly following multiple attacks on oil tankers and facilities that
have been blamed on Iran, but Tehran denies any involvement.
The U.K. has stationed 400 troops
across Iraq, and Iranian-backed Iraqi Shiite forces have targeted
those locations with attacks recently.
New developments surrounding the
2015 Iranian nuclear deal has ratcheted up tensions between the EU
and Tehran. On Tuesday, France, the U.K. and Germany said in a joint
statement that they were engaging the deal’s dispute mechanism
after Iran had said it was cutting all compliance of the deal on Jan.

Rouhani protested the EU’s move
in Wednesday’s speech, and called for more EU apologies since it
had failed to keep its promises within the deal.
“The EU should fulfill its
commitments under the nuclear deal,” Rouhani said.
He also called for the U.S. to
return to the deal, which U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from
in May of 2018. Trump has also slapped a
multitude of heavy sanctions on Iran that are greatly damaging
its economy.
The speech comes as massive
protests have swept over Iran following the accidental downing of a
Ukrainian passenger jet last week that resulted in 176 deaths, many
of which were Iranian citizens. Videos from the protests have
surfaced showing Iranian police using
live ammunition against protesters who were chanting things like
“we don’t want the Islamic Republic” and “death to the
dictator.”
Tehran initially denied that it was
at fault for the crash, but the Iranian Revolutionary Guard fessed up
to the incident saying that two surface-to-air missiles struck the
plane due to “human error” and “high tensions” between Iran
and the U.S. following Soleimani’s death.
Rouhani
called for further elaboration from the military in Wednesday’s
speech, and that whoever was responsible should “apologize to the
Iranian nation.”

luchtmachtbasis……. Het gore lef, jezus!!! Wie is de echte roverhoofdman Hammelburg, Soleimani of een figuur wiens naam met een T begint en eindigt op een p, met daartussen 3 andere letters….?? Weet je het al Hammelburg, of is deze vraag te moeilijk voor een ‘buitenlanddeskundige’ van jouw giga formaat?? Moet je nagaan, dan durft Hammelburg te zeggen dat zijn programma over het buitenland op BNR totaal onafhankelijk en objectief is….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
Trump en
mede oorlogsmisdadiger Pompeo stelden dat generaal Qassem
Soleimani werd ‘uitgeschakeld’ (vermoord) daar hij bezig was een grote aanval
voor te bereiden op VS burgers (in het Midden-Oosten, Ap). Ron Paul
schreef in een opiniestuk (door mij overgenomen van Money and Markets) dat hij dit verhaal niet gelooft, daar Trump en de
neocons als Pompeo de laatste 3 jaar niet anders hebben gedaan dan
liegen over Iran……
Leugens
zoals die over de Iran-nucleaire-deal (JCPOA of de P5+1 nuleaire deal) waarin de Trump administratie Iran
beschuldigde toch bezig te zijn met het bouwen van een kernwapen,
terwijl dit overduidelijk niet zo was. Verder noemt Paul de leugen
dat Iran verantwoordelijk is voor de situatie in Jemen, een uiterst
schunnige leugen, die met geen flinter aan bewijs werd uitgesproken, er
zijn zelfs geen foto’s van militaire adviseurs in Jemen, bovendien
hebben de VS en Saoedi-Arabië Iran beschuldigd van wapenleveranties
aan de Houthi rebellen, ook daarvoor geen schijn aan bewijs…..
Hetzelfde geldt voor de beschuldiging dat Iran de Saoedische
olie-installaties zou hebben aangevallen, waar intussen meer dan
duidelijk is dat de Houthi rebellen de aanslagen hebben uitgevoerd,
zelfs gedeeltelijk vanaf Saoedische bodem…… Wel is er ruime bewijsvoering voor de deelname van de VS aan de genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie uitvoert op de sjiitische inwoners van Jemen…….
Paul
maant de Trump administratie de troepen terug te trekken uit het
Midden-Oosten, daar militairen en burgers van de VS in het
Midden-Oosten het gevaar lopen doel te worden van Iraanse wraak,
immers Iran heeft de capaciteit niet om de VS zelf aan te
vallen…… (zo meer daarover)
Schande
dat Trump heeft aangekondigd bij acties van Iran om 52 belangrijke
culturele plekken van Iran aan te vallen, iets dat zonder meer een dreigement is met zware oorlogsmisdaden en het is dan ook te zot
voor woorden dat CDA hufter Bijleveld (‘minister’ van Defensie, of beter ‘minister’ van Oorlog) durft te zeggen dat ze achter
de VS staat en zelfs niet wil ingaan op het dreigement van Trump…..
Bijleveld had het gore lef te zeggen dat Soleimani geen heilig boontje was
en dat ze achter de moord op hem staat….. Hoe achterlijk en ongelofelijk dom kan een minister zijn??
Wie
heeft er sinds 2001 meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen vermoord in het
Midden-Oosten, dan wel is de hoofdverantwoordelijke voor die moorden?
Juist, de VS en niet Iran!! Waar ligt de VS en waar ligt Iran? De VS
ligt duizenden kilometers verwijderd van het Midden-Oosten en heeft daar de lont in het
zelf geplaatste kruitvat aangestoken, als eerste met de illegale oorlog tegen
Afghanistan en later met de illegale oorlogen tegen Irak, Libië en
Syrië…… Iran ligt wel in het Midden-Oosten en heeft er belang
bij dat de rust weerkeert in dat deel van de wereld, rust of stabiliteit die door de VS zo grondig is verstoord….
Het niet
‘heilige boontje’ van Bijleveld, Soleimani, was één van de beste
strategen tegen IS (ISIS) en aan
hem is het dan ook te danken dat IS zo goed als op haar reet ligt,
terwijl de VS verantwoordelijk is voor het ontstaan van IS….. Dezelfde VS dat onder Obama in eerste instantie niets, of bijna niets
tegen IS heeft ondernomen, pas toen Rusland met succes en hulp van o.a.
Soleimani grote successen boekte tegen IS, kwam de VS in actie en dat
nog met tegenzin…… Het is zelfs zo dat de VS bij tijd en wijle IS voorzag van rollend oorlogstuig, wapens en munitie (inclusief antitankraketten en ‘schouderraketten’ tegen ‘laagvliegende’ objecten…..)….
Zoals gezegd doet Paul een oproep aan de VS zich terug te trekken uit het Midden-Oosten en hij bepleit de sluiting van de VS ambassade in Bagdad, een ambassade die voor het Iraakse volk het teken is van VS agressie, die hun land zo grondig heeft vernield en waarmee de VS grote chaos heeft gecreëerd in Irak…… Chaos die tot op de dag van vandaag voortduurt*, er zijn nog steeds veel IS terroristen in Irak, dit zijn soennieten en zoals dat gebruikelijk schijnt te zijn, haten zij sjiieten…. Je kan zelfs stellen dat de illegale oorlog die de VS in 2003 tegen Irak begon, nog steeds niet voorbij is, een oorlog die intussen aan rond de 2 miljoen mensen het leven heeft gekost……

Paul: War Lies and Why I Don’t Trust Trump on Iran
President (Donald) Trump and his
Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, told us the U.S. had to assassinate
Maj. Gen. Qassim Soleimani last week because he was planning
“imminent attacks” on U.S. citizens.
I don’t believe them.
Why not? Because Trump and the
neocons — like Pompeo — have been lying about Iran for the past
three years in an effort to whip up enough support for a U.S. attack.
From the phony justification to get
out of the Iran nuclear deal, to blaming Yemen on Iran, to
blaming Iran for an attack
on Saudi oil facilities, the U.S. Administration has fed us a
steady stream of lies for three years because they are obsessed with
Iran.
And before Trump’s obsession with
attacking Iran, the past four U.S. Administrations lied ceaselessly
to bring about wars on Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Serbia,
Somalia, and the list goes on.
At some point, when we’ve been
lied to constantly and consistently for decades about a
“threat”
that we must “take out” with a military attack, there comes a
time where we must assume they are lying until they provide rock
solid, irrefutable proof. Thus far they have provided nothing. So I
don’t believe them.
President
Trump has warned that his administration has already targeted 52
sites important to Iran and Iranian culture and the U.S. will attack
them if Iran retaliates for the assassination of Gen. Soleimani.
Because Iran has no capacity to attack the United States, Iran’s
retaliation, if it comes, will likely come against U.S. troops or
U.S. government officials stationed or visiting the Middle East. I
have a very easy solution for President Trump that will save the
lives of American servicemembers and other U.S. officials: just come
home.
There is absolutely no reason for U.S. troops to be stationed
throughout the Middle East to face increased risk of death for
nothing.
In our Ron Paul Liberty Report
program last week we observed that the U.S. attack on a senior
Iranian military officer on Iraqi soil — over the objection of the
Iraq government — would serve to finally unite the Iraqi factions
against the United States. And so it has: On Sunday, the Iraqi
parliament voted to expel U.S. troops from Iraqi soil. It may have
been a non-binding resolution, but there is no mistaking the
sentiment. U.S. troops are not wanted and they are increasingly in
danger. So why not listen to the Iraqi parliament?
Bring our troops home, close the
U.S. Embassy in Baghdad — a symbol of our aggression — and let
the people of the Middle East solve their own problems. Maintain a
strong defense to protect the United States, but end this neocon
pipe-dream of ruling the world from the barrel of a gun. It does not
work. It makes us poorer and more vulnerable to attack. It makes the
elites of Washington rich while leaving working and middle-class
America with the bill. It engenders hatred and a desire for revenge
among those who have fallen victim to U.S. interventionist foreign
policy. And it results in millions of innocents being killed
overseas.
There is no benefit to the United
States to trying to run the world. Such a foreign policy brings only
bankruptcy — moral and financial. Tell Congress and the
administration that for America’s sake we demand the return of U.S.
troops from the Middle East!
* Onbegrijpelijk dan ook dat Nederland zich niet onmiddellijk heeft teruggetrokken uit Irak, nadat de Iraakse volksvertegenwoordiging dit verordonneerde…… Zeker als je bedenkt dat Nederland mee heeft gedaan aan de illegale oorlog van de VS tegen dat land en de aanwezigheid van onze militairen in dat land een uitvloeisel is van die illegale oorlog, iets dat toch als algemeen bekend kan worden verondersteld…….
Een nachtmerrie voor de nabestaanden van de slachtoffers van vlucht 752: het neerhalen van deze vlucht door een Iraanse raket….. Echter niet alleen voor de nabestaanden maar ook voor Iran, dat de laatste jaren al een berg antipropaganda (ronduit smaad) over zich heen kreeg van de VS en een paar van haar NAVO-partners (waaronder Groot-Brittannië), waar het bewind in Iran wel als allerlaatst het neerhalen van een passagiersvliegtuig kon gebruiken…..
Het voorgaande lijkt me niet moeilijk te bedenken, echter niet in het westen: Iran heeft nog niet toegegeven dat het per ongeluk vlucht 752 neerhaalde, of de rapen in het westen zijn alweer overgaar en speculeert men op een expres neerhalen van dit vliegtuig, een zaak waar de VS al eens mee te maken had, al bleek destijds na onderzoek dat e.e.a. inderdaad expres gebeurde (een Iraans passagiersvliegtuig werd in 1988 door een VS fregat neergehaald….)…..
Op BBC World Service radio vroeg een presentator zich vanmorgen af of dit wel een ongeluk was…… Vervolgens stelde deze doerak dat Iran niet moet proberen de schuld in de schoenen van de VS agressie te schuiven, immers de boel in Iran staat op scherp sinds de VS, de grootste terreurstaat ter wereld, Soleimani vermoordde, hij was de militair opperbevelhebber van de Iraanse Nationale Garde en de Quds Brigade…..
Als de VS deze eeuw niet had ingegrepen in het Midden-Oosten, zou dat fors meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen,waaronder een groot aantal vrouwen en kinderen, niet het leven hebben gekost….. Als de VS niet had ingegrepen zou de boel niet zo zijn gedestabiliseerd als nu het geval is en zou de boel niet op scherp hebben gestaan…. Als de VS niet had ingegrepen zou Iran hoogst waarschijnlijk nooit hebben gezocht naar een kernwapen…..* Als de VS niet de Iran-nucleaire-deal (JCPOA en P5+1 nucleaire deal) zou hebben opgezegd, zou het de Iraniërs een stuk beter zijn vergaan, de sancties brengen het land naar de rand van de afgrond….. Als de CIA niet zou hebben gestookt in Iran (toegegeven door de VS!), zouden er geen gewelddadige demonstraties hebben plaatsgevonden in dat land…..
De BBC presentator (kreeg zijn naam niet mee en kan deze niet snel genoeg terugvinden op de site) vervolgde met te zeggen dat Iran probeert de rol van de VS over te nemen in het Midden-Oosten…. Nee, Iran destabiliseert de regio, aldus deze vooringenomen hufter die zich onafhankelijk journalist durft te noemen….. (de BBC is volgens eigen zeggen onafhankelijk, terwijl de praktijk het tegenovergestelde laat zien…) Als er één land is dat het Midden-Oosten heeft gedestabiliseerd en destabiliseert is het de VS wel, zie de illegale oorlogen van dit land in de huidige eeuw, illegale oorlogen in het Midden-Oosten tegen Irak en Syrië (waar de VS zelfs militaire steun verleent aan de genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie uitvoert op de sjiieten in Jemen…..), plus de illegale oorlogen buiten het Midden-Oosten, die tegen Afghanistan en Libië…..
Deze illegale oorlogen (behorend tot de ergste oorlogsmisdaden) van de VS (met hulp van haar NAVO-partners, waaronder Nederland) hebben terreur op de straten in ons deel van de wereld gecreëerd en hebben daarnaast enorme vluchtelingenstromen op gang gebracht….. (als je de westerse politici en de reguliere westerse media moet geloven, zou Iran veel meer slachtoffers hebben gemaakt, een flagrante leugen……) Het meest belachelijke uit de mond van deze BBC verslaggever was wel de vaststelling dat Iran probeert de VS verkiezingen te beïnvloeden……. Het viel me nog mee dat hij niet sprak over een trollenfabriek in Iran…..
Het is duidelijk dat het westen op grond van het neerhalen van vlucht 752 Iran nog meer zal isoleren, terwijl een oorlog tegen Iran nog steeds tot de mogelijkheid behoort, we hebben immers te maken met de Trump administratie en deze administratie is niet te doorgronden, bovendien heeft het militaire apparaat van de VS onder Trump verregaande bevoegdheden gekregen……. Zo mag het Pentagon, zonder tussenkomst van het parlement en zelfs de president, extra troepen sturen naar streken waar het opereert en hoeft daar zelfs geen verantwoording voor af te leggen……
* Dat zoeken naar een kernwapen heeft overigens ook van alles te maken met de VS agressie (grootschalige terreur) al voor het jaar 2000, waar de VS een geschiedenis heeft met ingrepen in landen die zich niet naar de wensen van de VS schikten….. Vergeet niet dat de VS het nog nooit heeft aangedurfd een land aan te vallen dat beschikt over kernwapens, ofwel een kernwapen voorkomt een inval van de VS……

psychopathisch gek zijn, maar hun hersenen gebruiken en in 70 VS steden demonstreerden tegen het agressieve VS buitenlandbeleid.

of Thousands Rally Against War With Iran in Over 70 Cities Across US

— People from across the United States heeded calls
from the ANSWER Coalition and CODEPINK on Saturday, resulting in
protests against a possible U.S. war on Iran in more than 70 cities
across 38 U.S. states.
The protests, demanding for U.S.
troop withdrawal from Iraq and ending sanctions on Iran, were called
for earlier this week in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s
ordering of additional U.S. troops to the Middle East in response to protests
following U.S.
air strikes. Tensions quickly increased as the U.S. ordered the
assassination of Qassem Soleimani, the popular leader of Iran’s
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, and, as a result,
the protests quickly morphed into an emergency mobilization aimed at
stopping what some fear could become World
War III.
Tensions between Iran and the
United States are nothing new, but have been steadily increasing ever
since Trump formally reneged on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action (JCPOA)—also known as the Iran nuclear deal—in May of
2018.
Protesters
across the country joined together to demand an end to U.S. presence
in Iraq and the Middle East and to no new war with Iran. During the
past nearly 30 years, more
than one million Iraqis have died as a direct result of U.S.
occupation, sanctions, and bombing, with the U.S. government having
spent trillions of dollars.
Trump
repeatedly promised on the campaign trail and after taking office
that he would put “America
first” and would bring
our troops home. Instead, he repeatedly and recklessly brings the
U.S. on the brink of war with various nations time and time again.
But this far, many believe, he went too far.
Americans are fed up with endless

the cost of war while the funding of services at home continually
falls short, and deeply concerned about the wellbeing of innocent
lives in the Middle East, and more. And so they joined together with
one voice on January 4 to tell the Trump administration: “No
War With Iran!”

Iran’s retaliation
for the killing of Gen. Qasem Soleimani intensified fears of another
catastrophic Middle East war, a coalition of progressive advocacy
groups Tuesday reiterated their call for massive demonstrations
across the U.S. to protest President Donald Trump’s “military
brinksmanship” and demand immediate de-escalation of
tensions.
“We will not be
forced into another war,” said
the coalition, led by MoveOn, Indivisible, Win Without War, and other
groups. “On Thursday, January 9, at 5 p.m. local time, the
anti-war majority in this country will get visible to oppose Trump’s
war and say #NoWarWithIran.”
As of Wednesday
morning, more than 180 demonstrations have been planned across the
U.S.—up from just 50 when the protests were first
announced Tuesday afternoon.
Iran’s missile attacks
on two U.S. airbases in Iraq—retaliation that was widely expected
and promised by Iranian leaders—brought new urgency to the planned
day of action, which will demand that Congress intervene to stop
Trump from taking the advice of war-hungry
right-wing pundits and launching a devastating war with Iran.
“America,
this is an emergency,” said
activist Kai Newkirk. “If we spiral into war with Iran, millions
could die. We have a short window of time to stop it. We need a
massive protest. Everyone, if at all possible, must come out this
Thursday, nationwide.”
“We need everyone
in the streets,” tweeted
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), co-chair of the Congressional
Progressive Caucus. “This is a critical time for the American
people to be heard.”
In a statement
Tuesday night, Indivisible national policy director Angel Padilla
said the missile attack by Iran was an “entirely predictable”
and “avoidable” consequence of the White House’s hawkish
policies toward Iran and urged Congress “act decisively and fast
to stop Trump’s warmongering.”
“Every day we
wait is a message from Congress to Trump to continue his march to
war,” said Padilla. “We urge the House to immediately pass
a strong war powers resolution, as well as the bills offered by Reps.
Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) that would prevent
war with Iran, and urge the Senate to take those critical measures up
immediately upon passage.”
“The anti-war
majority of Americans will be paying close attention to what their
members of Congress do,” added Padilla, “not what they
say.”

Afgelopen maandag op BBC World Service radio aandacht voor de rouw om generaal Qassem Soleimani, rond 11.12 u. (CET) een fragment uit Teheran van de rede die de geestelijk leider Khamenei uitsprak, nou ja letterlijk een ‘fragment’, te weten 1 woord, waarop de verslaggever stelde: “Clearly angry voices…..” Zo, de toon was weer gezet….. Uiteraard werd er op de BBC met geen woord gerept over de verdiensten van Soleimani, zoals één van de sterkste strategen tegen IS (ISIS) dat door de VS in het leven werd geroepen en dat de VS al meermaals van wapens, munitie en rollend oorlogstuig heeft voorzien…… Kortom: BBC brengt zoals gewoonlijk VS vriendelijke propaganda…..
Het was op de nationale zenders van Duitsland, België, Frankrijk en Nederland overigens niet anders… BNR meldde afgelopen dinsdag dat CDA nitwit Bijleveld, ‘minister’ van Defensie ‘begrip’ heeft voor de moord op Soleimani….. Men liet een fragment horen van het commentaar dat Bijleveld ten gehore bracht, waarin zij stelde dat ‘wij’ (ik neem aan de Nederlandse regering) begrip hebben voor het gebeurde (ze kon de woorden liquidatie of moord op Soleimani niet uit haar benepen strot krijgen). “Want (zo vervolgde Bijleveld) als je kijkt wat Iran heeft gedaan en wat Soleimani is, is het wel goed te zeggen dat Soleimani geen heilig boontje is, het is een boef….” (de zin alleen al en dat is minister!) Uiteraard werd er niet bij verteld wat Iran en Soleimani dan gedaan zouden hebben, immers dat kan niet in de schaduw staan van de fors meer dan 2,5 miljoen doden die de VS en de andere NAVO-partners hebben gemaakt (vermoord) met de illegale oorlogen die de VS deze eeuw in het Midden-Oosten is begonnen, het viel me nog mee dat de trut niet stelde dat de VS de stabiliteit waarborgt in het Midden-Oosten…. De VS helpt zelfs mee aan de genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie uitvoert in Jemen, waar de Nederlandse media (en de internationale media) plus de Nederlandse regering het woord genocide weigeren te gebruiken…… (niet zo vreemd als je bedenkt dat Nederland onderdelen van wapens verkoopt aan de genocidepleger en reli-fascistische dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië…..)
Trouwens hoogst onbeschoft dat Nederland niet zoals Duitsland haar troepen terugtrekt uit Irak, zoals het Iraakse parlement wenst, alsof Irak geen soevereine staat is…. Wel is Nederland gestopt met training van Iraakse militairen……
D66 plork Sjoerd Sjoersma was na Bijleveld en na datzelfde nieuws te horen op BNR, hij stelde geschrokken te zijn van de uitgelekte concept brief van het VS ministerie van defensie (lees ‘oorlog’) waarin werd gezegd dat de VS alle troepen terugtrekt uit Irak (iets dat later werd ontkend door een hoge militair), alsof het Iraakse parlement niets te vertellen heeft en dat uit de mond van een zogenaamde ‘democraat….’ Sjoerdsma stelde dat IS nog lang niet is verslagen en dat het besluit in Irak om alle westerse troepen weg te sturen, werd genomen door de sjiitische meerderheid (van het Iraakse parlement), alsof de rest van het parlement groter is, de sjiieten vormen nu eenmaal verreweg de grootste bevolkingsgroep in Irak….. (en zijn jarenlang onderdrukt door de soennitische minderheid) Sjoerdsma kon nog net zeggen dat de moord op Soleimani niet goed is voor de strijd tegen IS, waarbij hij uiteraard niet stelde dat Soleimani zoals gezegd een belangrijke strateeg was die IS enorme klappen toebracht, nee het feit dat er onenigheid is tussen Irak en Iran aan de ene kant en de VS aan de andere kant, baart de zak zorgen……
Volgens Sjoerdsma was Soleimani verantwoordelijk voor alle proxy ellende in de regio, uiteraard zonder voorbeelden te noemen, anders dan zaken die niet aan Iran kunnen worden toegeschreven, zoals de aanslagen op olie-installaties in Saoedi-Arabië en de aanslagen op olietankers…. Natuurlijk vindt Sjoerdsma dat Soleimani ook verantwoordelijk is voor de genocide in Jemen (niet dat hij dit noemde), die zoals alweer eerder gesteld wordt uitgevoerd door de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, terwijl er geen flinter bewijs is voor de zogenaamde hulp van Iran aan de Houthi rebellen, anders dan grote hoeveelheden medische hulpmiddelen, voedsel, water en brandstof… (eerder werden zelfs 2 Iraanse schepen met deze zaken aan boord door de VS en S-A weggestuurd, men beschuldigde Iran van wapenleveringen aan de Houthi rebellen, al was ook daarvoor geen flinter aan bewijs gevonden in die door hen gecontroleerde 2 schepen……) Wij kennen allemaal de intenties van Iran, also sprach ZaratSjoerdsma ‘héééél interessant…’ Nou nee Sjoerdsma, ‘wij’ kennen alleen de westerse leugens, ingegeven door de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS, die het Midden-Oosten totaal heeft gedestabiliseerd en in brand heeft gezet (nogmaals met hulp van andere NAVO-partners, waaronder Nederland en dus mede betaald met ons belastinggeld….)….
Het enorm holle VVD vat Blok, godbetert minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, moest overigens apart nog even kwijt dat hij tevreden was met de moord op Soleimani…… Ach ja, geen hond buiten Nederland die de mislukte zakkenwasser Blok serieus neemt……
Tijdens het voorgaande ging men niet eens in op de leugen van Trump en zijn minister van BuZa Pompeo, wat de reden was voor de moordaanslag op Soleimani…. De leugen dat Soleimani een grote aanslag op de VS voorbereidde…. De zoveelste leugen voor VS terreur, neem alleen al de ‘redenen’ (alles leugens) voor de illegale oorlogen die de VS deze eeuw begon en die door bijna alle westerse politici en de reguliere westerse media werden uitgedragen als zijnde keiharde waarheid……..
Op dezelfde dinsdag liet een presentator van BBC W.S. radio rond 11.17 u. (CET) weten dat de VS wordt aangevallen….. (‘the US is under attack’) Hoe hard kan je liegen op een zogenaamde onafhankelijke zender…… De aanvallen van Iran op VS bases in Irak vonden immers pas in de nacht van dinsdag op woensdag plaats…… Ach maakt ‘t uit, je bent een propaganda zender of je bent het niet, ja toch…????
Gistermorgen o.a. Mart de Kruif, een ex-officier van het Nederlandse leger, die stelde dat Iran een gevaar is voor ons en de VS…. Iran wil gewoon een dominante rol spelen in de regio aldus deze knurft. Tja als je ziet dat de VS (met hulp van andere NAVO-partners) het Midden-Oosten in diepe ellende heeft gestort met haar ‘dominante rol’ en een gigantisch aantal moorden heeft begaan (waar je koud van wordt), zal het je niet verbazen dat een aantal landen waaronder Iran een grotere rol willen spelen in het Midden-Oosten en zoveel bloed als de VS heeft laten vloeien met haar grootschalige terreur, is vrijwel onmogelijk te evenaren….. (bovendien niet de bedoeling van Iran, noch van de sjiitische regering van Irak……) Zak de Kruif moest nog weel even kwijt dat de VS meer havik is dan een jaar geleden….. ha! ha! ha! ha! (waar hij waarschijnlijk 2018 mee bedoelde….) Blijkbaar heeft de Kruif niet opgelet, immers ook in 2018 en 2019 heeft de VS een enorm aantal slachtoffers gemaakt en bovendien was de VS al lang bezig een stok te vinden om Iran mee te slaan, ook vorig jaar…..
Hoorde afgelopen maandag nog Hennis-Plasschaert, die godbetert de VN gezand is voor Irak. Gelukkig had zij nog een paar verstandige woorden, zoals dat het een ramp is voor Irak dat Soleimani werd vermoord en dat dit instabiliteit zal geven, kijk dat laatste vond ik nu weer niet zo verstandig, immers over welke stabiliteit heeft ze het? Irak is nog steeds één grote chaos dank zij de illegale oorlog die de VS (met hulp van haar NAVO-bondgenoten) in 2003 tegen dat land begon, een oorlog die H-P. nota bene zelf heeft gesteund…. (hoe kan Henis-Plasschaert zijn benoemd tot speciaal VN gezand voor Irak??? ‘Lekkere onafhankelijke keus…..’)
Volgens Hennis-Plasschaert zal Irak de hoofdprijs betalen als de oorlog tussen de VS en Iran niet snel wordt gesust, hoewel H-P. nog niet spreekt van een oorlog….. H-P. wil het liefst geen ‘kwetterende oorlogstaal’ (???) uit Washington en zeker niet uit Iran….. Kijk hier gaat H-P. de fout in en geeft ze aan dat ze partijdig is, immers wie valt wie aan?? (de wraakactie van Iran moest toen nog plaatsvinden) Daarover gesproken, H-P. was één van de velen die Soleimani beschuldigde van grote aanslagen te hebben gepleegd tegen westerse doelen….. Welke Hennis-Plasschaert? De leugen dat Iran de Aramco olie-installaties heeft aangevallen??? Er zijn 3 landen die zich schandalig misdragen in het Midden-Oosten en dat zijn op nummer 1: de VS, nummer 2: Saoedi-Arabië en nummer 3: Israël…….. De VS heeft zoals gezegd al meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen vermoord, en dat voor het grootste deel in het Midden-Oosten, verder heeft de VS (en alweer met hulp van NAVO-partners, waaronder Nederland) grootschalige terreur uitgeoefend in Libië en Afghanistan, waar het laatste land nog steeds zucht onder dezelfde oorlog en Libië één grote chaos is, een land dat in puin ligt…… Stabiliteit met de VS? Laat me niet lachen!!!
Het viel me nog mee dat Hennis-Plasschaert nog toegaf dat Soleimani belangrijk was voor de strijd tegen IS, al zou ontkennen haar helemaal verdacht maken, onafhankelijk is ze niet en dat zou ze als speciaal gezand voor de VN wel moeten zijn, schande!!
Op WDR menen de presentatoren tijdens inbelprogramma’s na bijna elke beller die commentaar op de VS heeft, te moeten uitleggen hoe slecht Iran ‘wel niet is’, nogmaals alsof Iran de laatste 20 jaar 2,5 miljoen mensen heeft vermoord…… Gistermiddag hoorde ik een presentator op WDR 5 zeggen dat de VS de stabiliserende factor is in het Midden-Oosten…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Hoe verzinnen ze het??!!! Oh ja vergeten dat het om ordinaire propaganda gaat……..
Dan nog dit: voordat Iran een wraakactie ondernam hebben Frankrijk, Duitsland en Groot-Brittannië Iran opgeroepen rustig te blijven en vooral niet uit de Iran-nucleaire-deal (JCPOA en P5+1 nucelaire deal) te stappen, terwijl zij hadden beloofd Iran te helpen tegen de sancties die de VS illegaal heeft opgelegd aan dat land, niets van gekomen en dan moet Iran rustig blijven als haar bevelhebber wordt vermoord…….
Het volgend artikel werd geschreven door Caitlin Johnstone, met de kop ben ik het niet eens, het is maar de vraag of een oorlog is voorkomen, immers Trump is zo gek als een cent, waarschijnlijk teruggefloten door het Pentagon, maar iets dergelijks kan binnen 24 uur totaal omdraaien……. Zie alleen al de taal die Trump de afgelopen dag over Iran heeft laten horen…… Laten we blij zijn, dat Iran het bij 2 aanslagen heeft gelaten……. Je kan er overigens donder op zeggen dat de raketaanval op Bagdad weer in de schoenen van Iran zal worden geschoven (men probeert al langer een wig tussen Irak en Iran te drijven), terwijl deze raketaanvallen allesbehalve zeldzaam zijn, in Irak is het dan ook, zoals eerder aangehaald, nog steeds oorlog……..
Full-Scale
War Is Avoided and Trump Goes Right Back To Warmongering
As
usual it was the less powerful nation who exercised restraint, with
Iran skillfully targeting
the bases’ military
capabilities
but taking measures to successfully avoid any casualties.
The two
nations de-escalated back down to their previous high level of
dangerous hostilities with an understanding between them that neither
side wants a full-scale war. Both sides played
“chicken”
and both sides swerved, and they know that about each other now.
So
that was a relief. We were all forced to hold our breath and hope
against hope that cooler heads would prevail after the senseless
assassination of a sovereign nation’s top military official, and they
did. A full-scale war that would have dwarfed Iraq and Vietnam in
terms of death, destruction and destabilization was averted.
And
then Trump immediately went right back to warmongering.
“As
we continue to evaluate options in response to Iranian
aggression, the United States will immediately impose additional
punishing economic sanctions on the Iranian regime,” Trump said
in his
speech
the morning after the Iranian missile strike. “These powerful
sanctions will remain until Iran changes its behavior.”
It
is unclear at this time what form these sanctions will take. If they
are of the sort being leveled at Iran currently, they will further target
Iranian civilians
with the goal of making them even
more miserable
so that they rise up and overthrow their government. This deliberate
attempt to foment civil war against Tehran is not speculation; it is
a fact, admitted to by the Trump administration itself.
“Last
week, Mr. Pompeo acknowledged to Michael J. Morrell, a former acting
director of the C.I.A., that the administration’s strategy would
not persuade Iranian leaders to change their behavior.
“‘I
think what can change is the people can change the government,’ he
said on a podcast hosted by Mr. Morrell, in what appeared to be an
endorsement of regime change.”
It
is impossible for the US and Iran to de-escalate from the military
powderkeg situation they are in as long as the US is deliberately
attacking Iran’s economy with the goal of igniting a civil war in
that country. The US government intends to not just continue to
escalate this direct assault, but to continue its increasingly
intrusive military presence
in the region, including the
unwelcome occupation of Iraq.
And
yet, bizarrely, Trump also claims to want to reach a new nuclear deal
with Iran.
“The
very defective JCPOA expires shortly anyway and gives Iran a
clear and quick path to nuclear breakout,” Trump said. “Iran
must abandon its nuclear ambitions and end its support for
terrorism. The time has come for the United Kingdom, Germany,
France, Russia and China to recognize this reality. They must now
break away from the remnants of the Iran deal, or JCPOA. And we must
all work together toward making a deal with Iran that makes the world
a safer and more peaceful place. We must also make a deal that
allows Iran to thrive and prosper and take advantage of its enormous
untapped potential.”
This
is not going to happen. The US government has already burned Tehran
on the JCPOA and it’s not going to enter into a new deal as long as
the US continues to inflict aggressions upon it that the US itself
wouldn’t tolerate from any other nation. Iran is going to be
much less
willing to trust the US government in a new deal now and will require
much more
assurance and accommodation than it did in the previous one; such a
negotiation (assuming the Trump administration even really wants it)
would be harder,
not easier. This will remain true even after Trump leaves
office.
The airstrikes between the US and Iran were the result of the trajectory of escalations Trump initiated by wrongfully withdrawing from the JCPOA in order to smash Iran with sanctions. The
Trump administration also further inflamed tensions by inviting NATO
to become further involved in the Middle East, which NATO chief chief
Jens Stoltenberg agreed to.
“The
President asked the secretary general for NATO to become more
involved in the Middle East,” a NATO statement said.
“They agreed that NATO could contribute more to regional
stability and the fight against international terrorism.”
So
things are only continuing to heat up with Iran, and there is no
reason to believe more eruptions like the direct military
confrontation we just experienced won’t occur again, with the world
perhaps getting a lot less lucky next time. Trump and his supporters
are trying to claim the evasion of full-scale war as a victory for
both peace and for America, but it is neither.
All
of the defenses of Trump’s warmongering that you’ve been seeing are
premised upon the unquestioned assumption that it is both reasonable
and acceptable for the United States to maintain a military presence
in the Middle East, even in nations whose governments don’t want them
there like Iraq and Syria. If the US didn’t insist on maintaining an
enormous military presence in this one area on the other side of the
planet, there would be no debate about the need for America to
“defend” itself by attacking the Iranian economy,
assassinating government officials, and conducting airstrikes upon
Iraqi militias. It would just be another country on the other side of
the world, doing its own thing in its own way.
Most
Americans haven’t thought very hard about this premise. They are fed
some lines about the need to protect American “interests”
and some unexplained need to defend Israel, and because those lines
are spoken in an authoritative tone of voice most are content to
leave it there. But if Americans actually laid out all the facts in
front of them and thought deeply about what their government’s Middle
Eastern military presence costs them and risks for them compared to
what it actually gains them, it would be seen for the insane
imperialist power agenda that it so clearly is.

Zarif, de Iraanse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, heeft gisteren
laten weten dat Iran zeker zal terugslaan, mocht er een vergeldingsaanval volgen op de aanslag tegen 2 olie-installaties in
Saoedi-Arabië……..
Zarifs
opmerking komt na een aantal incidenten, eerst zouden het raketten van Iraanse makelij zijn geweest die vanuit Jemen werden afgeschoten richting Saoedi-Arabië, zonder enig steekhoudend bewijs van S-A of de VS (zo meer daarover), daarna zou Iran tankers
hebben opgeblazen, aldus de VS en Saoedi-Arabië, echter de VS kan daar geen flinter
aan bewijs voor leveren, behalve een onduidelijke video en over het laatste incident, de aanslag op de olie-installaties gaat o.a. het hierna opgenomen artikel van Money and Markets.
Zarif
zei op de vraag wat de consequentie zouden zijn als Saoedi-Arabië en/of de
VS een vergeldingsaanval zouden uitvoeren, dat er dan sprake zou zijn van een “All-out
war.”, ofwel dan zou er sprake zijn van een
volledige oorlog…….
Oorlogsmisdadiger
Pompeo, die de aanval op de Saoedische olie-installatie eerder een
oorlogsdaad van Iran noemde (zonder bewijs voor de schuld van Iran),
ging tezelfdertijd op bezoek bij de psychopathische Saoedische
kroonprins, moordenaar en oorlogsmisdadiger Mohammad bin Salman
(MBS), je weet wel, die journalist Khashoggi op een vreselijke manier
heeft laten vermoorden……Pompeo
zei later als reactie op de woorden van Zarif dat de VS volledig achter Saoedi-Arabië staat en dat dit land het recht
heeft zich te verdedigen, ofwel: het is hoogstwaarschijnlijk dat
Saoedi-Arabië een aanval op Iran zal uitvoeren, dat kan met raketten
of met straaljagers, waar de VS bij de laatste mogelijkheid waarschijnlijk de coördinatie zal doen middels een AWACS-vliegtuig……..
Intussen
is er onder aanvoering van de VS een coalitie gevormd, bestaande uit (logisch) de VS, de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE),
Groot-Brittannië en Australië, een coalitie waarmee ‘men de
Straat van Hormuz wil beveiligen’ tegen niet bewezen Iraanse
agressie….. Afgelopen woensdag heeft ook de reli-fascistische
dictatuur Saoedi-Arabië zich bij deze coalitie gevoegd……
Trouwens
de middelen die gebruikt werden voor de aanvallen op de 2
olie-installaties veranderen met de dag, nu zou er sprake zijn van 7
kruisraketten en 18 drones, een
fantasie die de schaamte bij de VS en S-A moet verbergen over zo’n
simpele aanval met drones van de Jemenitische Houthi’s…..* Houthi’s die niet
anders doen dan hun land en inwoners beschermen tegen de agressie
van de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, die na al die jaren van
bombardementen, honger, cholera en difterie volgens sommigen al aan
een half miljoen mensen het leven moet hebben gekost….. Waar men in het westen spreekt (zoals Money and Markets) over tienduizenden doden, terwijl er alleen al 60.000 kinderen zijn omgekomen in Jemen……
Logisch dat de Houthi’s de raffinaderijen van Saoedi-Arabië willen treffen, immers met de opbrengsten van de olieverkoop wordt de smerige illegale oorlog van dat land tegen de sjiieten in Jemen bekostigd. Gezien het voorgaande kan je niet anders dan concluderen dat de Saoedische terreurcoalitie een genocide uitvoert in
Jemen…….

Saoedische leger, liet een paar stukken van een kruisraket zien die
volgens hem, precies als een paar getoonde drones, van Iraanse makelij zijn…. Eerder ging of deze flapdrol, dan wel een collega van hem, al plat op de bek toen hij
stukken van een Iraanse raket zou hebben getoond na de hiervoor genoemde raketbeschieting door de Houthi’s. Het bewijs was één onderdeel dat in Iran
werd gemaakt, echter er zaten ook onderdelen uit andere landen in,
zelfs uit de VS!!
Iran
zal en moet hangen en je kan de klok er bijna op gelijkzetten dat
Israël zich ook met een eventuele aanval zal bemoeien……. Het ergst van al is
wel dat de vrijheid die het Iraanse volk al een beetje had ‘bevochten’ op de religieuze politie, bijna zeker zal verdwijnen….
Tot slot ben ik nog vergeten te zeggen dat Trump heeft belooft de
sancties nog verder te verdiepen, al is dat volgens mij niet
mogelijk…….. Reken gerust dat de sancties (terreur behorend tot de ergste soort) al aan veel kleine
kinderen, zwakke en oude mensen in Iran het leven hebben gekost….. Zo staat
de teller met het aantal doden door de VS terreursancties tegen Venezuela nu al
boven de 40.000……

Iran
Diplomat Threatens ‘All-Out War’ If Hit for Saudi Oil Attack
Iran’s
top diplomat said Thursday that any attack on his country over a
drone-and-missile strike on Saudi Arabia’s oil industry will result
in “all-out war,” further pushing up tensions across the Persian
Gulf.
The
comments by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif represented the
starkest warning yet by Iran in a long summer of mysterious attacks
and incidents following the collapse of Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal
with world powers, more than a year after President Donald Trump
unilaterally withdrew the U.S. from the accord.
Zarif’s
comments also appeared to be a response to U.S. Secretary of State
Mike Pompeo, who a day earlier while traveling to Saudi Arabia
referred to Saturday’s attack as an “act of war.”
Asked
by CNN what would be the consequence of a U.S. or Saudi strike, Zarif
said: “All-out war.”
It
would cause “a lot of casualties,” he stressed.
“I
am making a very serious statement that we don’t want to engage in
a military confrontation,” Zarif said. “But we won’t blink to
defend our territory.”
He
added that any sanctions placed by the U.S. on Iran after pulling out
of the nuclear deal would need to be lifted before any negotiations
could be considered.
“They’ve
done whatever they could and they haven’t been able to bring us to
our knees,” Zarif said.
Pompeo,
who had just arrived to the United Arab Emirates, did not immediately
respond. He met earlier in the day with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed
bin Salman (MBS) in Jiddah about
the attack on
a crucial oil processing facility and oil field, which cut the
kingdom’s oil production in half. Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi
rebels have claimed the attack, but the U.S. alleges Iran carried out
the assault.
“The
U.S. stands with #SaudiArabia and supports its right to defend
itself,” Pompeo tweeted. “The Iranian regime’s threatening
behavior will not be tolerated.”
Pompeo
did not elaborate. Trump has been noncommittal on whether he would
order U.S. military retaliation. He said separately Wednesday that he
is moving to increase
financial sanctions on Tehran over
the attack, without elaborating. Iran already is subject to a
crushing American sanctions program targeting its crucial oil
industry**.
Pompeo
met Abu Dhabi’s powerful crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al
Nahyan. The UAE is a close ally of Saudi Arabia and joined the
kingdom in its war with the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The 4-year-old
war has killed tens of thousands of people and destroyed much of the
country, with millions more driven from their homes and thrown into
near starvation.
The
UAE said Thursday it had joined a U.S.-led coalition to protect
waterways across the Middle East after the attack in Saudi Arabia.
The
state-run WAM news agency quoted Salem al-Zaabi of the Emirati
Foreign Ministry as saying the UAE joined the coalition to “ensure
global energy security and the continued flow of energy supplies to
the global economy.”
Saudi
Arabia joined the coalition on Wednesday. Australia, Bahrain and the
United Kingdom also are taking part.
Pompeo
tweeted his appreciation for the UAE and Saudi Arabia joining the
coalition.
“Recent
events underscore the importance of protecting global commerce and
freedom of navigation,” he wrote.
The
U.S. formed the coalition after attacks on oil tankers that
Washington blamed on Tehran, as well as Iran’s seizure of tankers
in the region. Iran denies being behind the tanker explosions,
although the attacks came after Tehran threatened to stop oil exports
from the Persian Gulf.
Iraq
said it would not join the coalition. The government in Baghdad,
which is allied with both Iran and the U.S., has tried to keep a
neutral stance amid the tensions.
At
a news conference Wednesday, the Saudis displayed broken and burned
drones and pieces of a cruise missile that military spokesman Col.
Turki Al-Malki identified as Iranian weapons collected after the
attack. He also played surveillance video that he said showed a drone
coming in from the north. Yemen is to the south of Saudi Arabia.
Eighteen
drones and seven cruise missiles were launched in the assault,
Al-Malki said, with three missiles failing to hit their targets. He
said the cruise missiles had a range of 700 kilometers (435 miles),
meaning they could not have been fired from inside Yemen. That
opinion was shared by weapons experts who spoke to The
Associated Press .
“This
is the kind of weapon the Iranian regime and the Iranian IRGC are
using against the civilian object and facilities infrastructure,”
Al-Malki said, referring to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
Foreign
Minister Jean-Yves
Le Drian similarly
was skeptical of the Houthi claim of responsibility.
“This
is not very credible, relatively speaking,” he told CNews
television. “But we sent our experts to have our own vision of
things.”
Separately,
a U.N. panel of experts on Yemen arrived in Saudi Arabia to
investigate the attack, U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq said.

heeft Rusland daar helemaal geen baat bij en dit land gebruikte de
ontmoeting om te pleiten voor het stabiliseren van Syrië, waar de VS
volkomen illegaal militaire bases heeft ingericht. Het hoofd van de Russische
Veiligheidsraad, Nikolay Patrushev hield de VS en Israël verder voor
dat Iran volkomen legaal in Syrië aanwezig is, op uitnodiging van deze soevereine staat en haar democratisch gekozen president Assad,

Putin
zou Trump in een lang telefoongesprek nog eens op het hart hebben
gedrukt Iran niet aan te vallen, daar dit desastreuze gevolgen zal
hebben in de regio, een regio die al bol staat van oorlogsellende veroorzaakt door terreurentiteit VS en haar oorlogshond, terreurorganisatie NAVO……

Many reports have
indicated that the U.S. and Israel have been attempting to persuade
Russia to alter its stance on Iran, particularly when it comes to
Syria. Just last month, national security officials from Russia,
Israel and the U.S. met for a rare summit which focused solely on
Iran.
While
this may have been a tense
situation for
Iran to watch from the background, it appeared that Russia was never
really on board with the proposal directly from the outset.
For
example, Russia decided to reframe the talks with a focus of
“stabilizing Syria” as opposed to making the entire situation
about Iran. Russia’s Security Council head, Nikolai Patrushev,
openly said it would push for Iran’s interests to be respected,
stating that “Iran
is in Syria at the invitation of the legitimate government and is
actively involved in fighting terrorism.”
For various
reasons,
Russia is unlikely to concede to the U.S. and most media outlets are
likely not to venture into why, even when it comes to the question of
Syria. As one analyst has summarized this
issue, the US-Israel position on Iran is “wishful
thinking.”
Amid
recent tensions and a potential standoff between the U.S. and Iran,
it should be clear that the U.S. and Israel have unsuccessfully
swayed Russia from changing its tack with regard to Iran at all—at
least as far as the international public should be concerned.
Approximately
a month ago, a senior Russian diplomat said that
Tehran “won’t
be alone” if
the U.S. decides to strike Iran. Stating that “it’s
not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with
Iran.”Zamir
Kabulov concluded that, “Tehran
won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid takes wild and irresponsible
actions against it.”
Russian
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also released a statement indicating
that Moscow will attempt to initiate dialogue between Washington and
Tehran, but this of course “assumes
the end to the policy of ultimatums, sanctions and blackmail.”
While
grossly underreported, and as it may help feed into the ludicrous
narrative that
“Trump
takes his orders from Putin”,
approximately one month ago Russian President Vladimir Putin himself
allegedly phoned U.S.
President Donald Trump, warning
him not to use military force against Tehran. In
a phone conversation that apparently lasted four hours, Putin warned
that aU.S.
attack on Iran would have enormous consequences which would spread
across the region.
Putin
also pointed out that Iran had been honoring its side of the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and stated that he considers
American-enforced sanctions targeting Iran unfounded.
And
when it comes to the question specifically of ejecting Iran from
Syria, Putin allegedly responded by saying “we
aren’t trading in our allies, our interests and our principles.”
The
evidence before us suggests that Russia will not be so quick to
abandon its Iranian ally, the reasons for which could be attributed
to a variety of factors. In the immediate future, Russia’s defense
of Iran may help to hold off another disastrous war for as long a
period as realistically possible.
And
maybe if the U.S. truly wanted Russia to make concessions of its own
regarding its close allies in the Middle East region, perhaps the
U.S. should stop sanctioning and punishing Russia as well, as U.S.
and E.U. sanctions on Russia have cost Moscow approximately $50
billion since 2014.

VS in haar illegale economische oorlog tegen Iran.
Na raadpleging van een oud verdrag uit 1955 tussen de VS en Iran, sprak het Internationaal Gerechtshof recht in deze zaak. De naam van het verdrag: Amity,
Economic Relations and ConsularRights (in Nederlandsongeveer:verdrag
van vriendschap, economische betrekkingen en diplomatieke rechten; kan de Nederlandse versie niet vinden op het net). Iran heeft bij
het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ook: Internationaal Hof van Justitie) op grond van dat verdrag een
klacht ingediend en werd eind vorig jaar door een onafhankelijke rechter in het gelijk gesteld. waarbij

De VS heeft
destijds dit verdrag getekend en zoals te verwachten was van de
psychopathisch fascistische Trump administratie, heeft de VS dit
verdrag meteen opgezegd, met andere woorden: de VS heeft schijt aan dit

There has been a lot of media attention on Iran lately and most of
that attention has focused on the recent activities in the Gulf,
which have almost become a foreign policy scandal of sorts. For
example, after Iran reportedly shot down a U.S. drone that was either
traveling in Iranian airspace or very close to it, the Trump
administration allegedly drew up a plan to strike Iran in response,
only to have Trump pull the plug on the very last minute. By all
accounts, this is a somewhat bogus notion,
but we still cannot rule it out as a possibility.
Had
the exchange of missiles taken place, it would have been one of the
more newsworthy events of an already daily newsworthy administration
run by Trump himself. And as the weeks go by, developments in
the region continue to play out with no immediate end or means
of diffusion
or de-escalationcurrently
in sight.
However,
the real scandal of this whole crisis that we should be focused on,
is the imposition of sanctions against Iran in contravention of the
Iranian nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action (JCPOA), which has continued to escalate ever since Trump
formally reneged on the JCPOA last year. It should be a scandal not
just because Iran was being certified as compliant with the terms of
the JCPOA on a regular basis, but also because the aim of the
sanctions is to strangle Iran’s government into collapsing.
This
particular predicament was summarized brilliantly
in a recent article in the Atlantic:
“This
summer, tankers are exploding, disappearing, or getting seized near
the Gulf; drones are getting destroyed in
tit-for-tat attacks; and a war of words and tweets is erupting
between Donald Trump and Iran’s supreme leader. That’s where all
the drama is, but in fact most of America’s punitive actions
against Iran are taking place in a world not physical but financial.
Sanctions are the key tool the United States uses against what it
sees as the Islamic Republic’s provocative behavior—especially
for the past three presidential administrations running, and never
more so than in this one.”
In
the latter part of last year, the International Court of Justice
(ICJ) delivered a
preliminary ruling in proceedings brought before it by Iran under the
1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights whereby
the ICJ essentially told the U.S. to lift sanctions on Iran which
were linked to humanitarian goods and civil aviation. In
its statement,
the ICJ said that:
“The
Court further considers that restrictions on the importation and
purchase of goods required for humanitarian needs, such as foodstuffs
and medicines, including life-saving medicines, treatment for chronic
disease or preventive care, and medical equipment, may have a serious
detrimental impact on the health and lives of individuals on the
territory of Iran.”
The
U.S. responded by announcing it would pull out of the Treaty of Amity
and the rest of the world barely blinked, even though it was becoming
painfully obvious that Iranians were being
killed by
U.S. foreign policy simply due to being unable to receive basic
medicines. Even now, the fact that the U.S. breached the JCPOA first
and hit Iran as hard as it could with sanctions, even in light of a
legally binding ICJ decision, barely passes a mention.
According
to most
reports, Iranian oil exports are down to 200,000 barrels a month, and
this is likely to decrease further as the U.S. treasury finds new and
more creative ways of attempting to cripple Iran’s economy. Just
this week, the U.S. slapped sanctions on
a major Chinese company for buying Iranian oil, which Secretary of
State Mike Pompeo openly acknowledged were “part
of our maximum pressure campaign”
on Iran.
And
guess what—the maximum pressure is eventually going to work. In
order to keep its economy afloat, most analysts say Iran needs to be
exporting, at the very minimum, 600,000 barrels a month. As the U.S.
continues to hit anyone and everyone left who may be even daring to
import Iranian oil, Iran’s government may very well be looking at
liquidation.
Let’s
be honest, cryptocurrencies are
not going to save Iran’s economy. The only real shot Iran has of
not collapsing, is a successful mechanism set up by the E.U. which
would help Iran bypass U.S. sanctions. Given the U.K. is helping to
seize Iranian ships carrying oil with little to no comment from the
E.U. at all—it would be foolish to put much hope in their hands to
help diffuse this crisis and prevent yet another Middle Eastern
country from toppling over and plunging into chaos.
The
real scandal of the so-called “Iran crisis” is not that Trump may
one day kill Iranians (or that Iranians may respond and kill U.S. or
U.K. personnel)—it is that Trump is already killing more Iranians
than we could hope to monitor through its draconian sanctions regime.
Even an Israeli minister has openly bragged about how many Iranians
Israel has killed in
recent times—a perverse statement to which the rest of the world
has shrugged its shoulders.
Sanctions
are always a
precursor to overt war. While the physical war has not begun for the
ordinary American, Iran is already at war and under economic attack
from the U.S. and its close allies, facing no less than a complete
collapse of its economy. Diffusing and de-escalating the crisis
taking place in the Strait of Hormuz should be a priority, of course,
but would not even be necessary if we tackled the root cause of the
current situation, which continues to spiral out of control quietly
behind the scenes.

schepen, de Stena Impero, vaart onder Britse vlag, maar is van het Zweedse bedrijf Stena Bulk. Overigens is het andere schip, de
Mesdar, varend onder Liberiaanse vlag al lang weer weg uit Iran, daar is amper aandacht voor in de
reguliere westerse media, twee in beslag genomen schepen klinkt
tenslotte veel sensationeler dan één opgebracht schip, zo kan men Iran nog meer demoniseren…….
Iran
stelt dat de Stena Impero die nog wordt vastgehouden, betrokken was bij een
aanvaring met een vissersschip en ondanks dat haar weg
vervolgde…… Elk ander land zou een dergelijk schip vasthouden,
tot onderzoek uitwijst wat er daadwerkelijk is gebeurd.
Veel
verder gaat het vasthouden van een Iraanse olietanker door GB (in
Gibraltar). Deze tanker zou volgens GB olie vervoeren naar Syrië, dit
middels een enorme omweg via Zuid-Afrika…. De EU heeft op eigen
houtje in navolging van terreurentiteit VS, Syrië sancties opgelegd,
zonder toestemming van de VN, ofwel het gaat hier om illegale
sancties (zeker zolang de EU-lidstaten zijn aangesloten bij de
VN)……
Intussen
is duidelijk geworden dat GB reageerde op een aanhoudingsverzoek van
de VS en niet van de EU, ofwel GB gaat haar boekje ver te buiten, ten
eerste doordat de EU een afspraak heeft gemaakt met Iran om de
illegale sancties van de VS te ontduiken, sancties opgelegd simpel
omdat Obama zijn handtekening onder dit verdrag heeft gezet….. Ten
tweede en dat kwam al even voorbij, reageert de VS niet n.a.v. een VN
resolutie, maar puur op eigen leugens als zou Teheran door zijn
gegaan met de verrijking van uranium, vandaar ook dat ook deze
sancties totaal illegaal zijn……
Kortom,
ook hier is weer sprake van de wereld op de kop, immers de VS en GB
houden een Iraans schip vast, op illegale gronden (zowel wat betreft
de VS sancties tegen Iran en de EU sancties tegen Syrië) en
stellen tegelijkertijd dat Iran een ‘Brits schip’ illegaal vasthoudt,
waar Iran simpelweg het Internationaal Zeerecht volgt…..
Met de totaalidioot Boris Johnson als Britse premier valt te vrezen dat oorlogshandelingen tegen Iran bijna niet te voorkomen zijn……

Clearing House” –Hubris
is usually a forewarning of impending calamity. Extreme arrogance
blinds the hubristic person to the limits of their power. So,
blindly, they push on with reckless excess, leading to potentially
disastrous results.
The
US and Britain are exemplars of this kind of mad hubris in the
present mounting tensions with Iran.
After
Iran seized a British cargo ship this week in the Persian Gulf,
Britain’s foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt condemned the Iranian
action as “unacceptable” and warned that Tehran is “choosing a
dangerous path”.
American
President Donald Trump also rebuked Iran. “We have the greatest
ships – the most deadly ships, we don’t want to have to use
them,” he said to reporters Friday at the White House. “We hope
for their [Iran’s] sake they don’t do anything foolish. If they
do, they will pay a price like nobody’s ever paid.”
Britain
is claiming that Iran’s impounding of a British-operated ship is
unlawful and violates “freedom of navigation”. Iran said it
seized the vessel after it collided with an Iranian fishing boat and
disobeyed safety regulations for passing through the narrow Strait of
Hormuz.
Whatever
the exact circumstance are, London has very little legal or moral
authority to remonstrate with Iran. Tehran says it is carrying out an
investigation into the alleged infringement by the British ship. Iran
has the sovereign right to do so.
As
for the official British reaction, it smacks of downright hypocrisy.
An Iranian
oil tanker is
currently detained in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar
after Royal Marines boarded the vessel on July 4 and took it into
custody over claims it was transporting oil to Syria – allegedly in
breach of European Union sanctions on Damascus.
Iran
slammed that British seizure as “piracy” and disputes the
legality of Britain’s motives. There are good grounds to believe
that Britain’s actions were conducted in league with Washington to
deliberately aggravate Iran.
What’s
good for the goose is good for the gander. If the British apply
“laws” on alleged shipping transgressions by Iran, then Tehran
has every right to do likewise on suspected British ships in or near
its territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.
The
arrogance of Britain and the US is astounding. Hypocrisy and double
standards are tumbling over themselves.
Washington
and London’s accusations that Iran is “escalating” tensions are
an absurd inversion of reality. Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad
Javad Zarif just this week requested the US to enter negotiations to
resolve the stand-off – if Trump reciprocated by lifting harsh
sanctions off Iran. You can’t get fairer than that.
Let’s
recall the bigger picture. The dangerous situation has been created
by Washington’s reprehensible tearing up last year of the
international nuclear accord with Iran. Then in April, Trump
reimposed crippling sanctions on Tehran driving the Iranian economy
into even further turmoil. Such economic warfare is illegal under
international law. It’s “economic terrorism”, as
Iranian-American writer Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich aptly puts it.
In
May, the Trump administration shifted gear and embarked on a policy
of what can only be called military aggression by sending warships
and B-52 nuclear-capable bombers to the Persian Gulf, purportedly to
“defend” against alleged – though unsubstantiated – Iranian
security threats.
For
the past two months there have been a series of sabotage incidents
against commercial shipping which the US has blamed on Iran. Iran
denies any involvement and has instead speculated that the incidents
are being orchestrated by malign forces to incriminate Tehran.
The
seizure of the Iranian
oil tanker off Gibraltar earlier
this month by British commandoes fits into the same pattern of
deliberate provocation.
So
when Britain’s Jeremy Hunt gets on his high horse of legal probity
and righteousness, the hubris is way too much to stomach.
Washington
and London have said in public that they don’t want a war with
Iran. But all other signs suggest that war is something they are
prepared to wage. Maybe they expect that the display of military
power and bragging about it will be enough to make Iran cower and beg
for mercy. That, in short, is state terrorism.
But
Iran is nobody’s fool nor play thing, as its leaders have time and
again warned. Tehran says that the US and Britain may start a war,
but it will be Iran that “finishes it”.
There
is no doubt Iran’s military defenses are formidable and its
missiles could dispatch American and British warships to a watery
grave.
Then
we are in extremely red-alert geopolitical territory where military
conflict could explode into a regional war and even world war. With
the Americans and their British bulldog getting a bloody nose, the
truly worrying thing is that their extreme arrogance will tempt them
to salvage their disaster with the unthinkable – nuclear weapons.
Hubris
before the fall could be a fall involving just the corrupt American
and British rogue regimes.
But awful to contemplate is the fall might
also include vast numbers of innocent people, or even the planet as
we know it.
One
things seems irrefutable, however. The American and British criminal
bullying towards Iran and the rest of the world has to stop. The
world can no longer afford to tolerate their extreme lawlessness.

Jeremy
Hunt, de Britse minister van buitenlandse zaken, heeft van Iran
geëist de eerder opgebrachte olietanker te laten gaan daar er
anders serieuze en robuuste acties zullen volgen, waar hij aan
toevoegde dat er nog geen sprake is van militaire ingrijpen.
De
Stena Impero, één van de twee tankers die Iran opbracht vaart onder
Britse vlag, terwijl het Zweedse bedrijf Stena Bulk de eigenaar is.
Het andere schip, de Mesdar vaart onder Liberiaanse vlag en is
eigendom van een Brits bedrijf.
In
tegenstelling tot wat GB meldt, stelt Iran dat de Mesdar al weer is
vrijgegeven, de eigenaar van de Mesdar heeft dit bevestigd.
De
lachende derde in deze is uiteraard de VS, die de Iran deal (JCPOA
of de: P5+1 nucleaire deal) heeft opgezegd, in feite het begin van de
ellende voor Iran……. Ellende door de eenzijdige sancties van de
VS, die het Iraanse volk hard hebben getroffen en treffen……
Groot-Brittannië was samen met de EU en Rusland tegen het
opzeggen van het verdrag door de VS en beloofde als alle andere
EU-lidstaten de sancties van de VS tegen Iran te zullen verlichten,
iets waar men zich niet aan heeft gehouden, men likt immers liever de
vieze reet van Trump, in de hoop op een toegeworpen bot…… Zo was
ook de grijnzende leugenaar van de VVD op bezoek bij Trump om hem
zijn steun toe te zeggen…..
Niet
voor niets dat GB de Iraanse tanker in Gibraltar liet bestormen door
speciale troepen, als betrof het een oorlogssituatie…… Een
voorlopige inbeslagname die op bevel van de VS werd uitgevoerd, met een beroep op de door deze terreurentiteit opgelegde sancties
tegen Iran, waar GB als EU-lidstaat NB tegen was……. En wat stelde
GB? De Iraanse tanker zou de sancties van de EU tegen Syrië hebben
overtreden……. (daar kom ik zo op terug)
Aanvankelijk
werd bericht dat de Stena Impero een noodsignaal van een Iraanse
vissersboot zou hebben genegeerd, dit wordt internationaal gezien als een
misdaad, daar er altijd hulp moet worden verleend als een schip in de
buurt in moeilijkheden verkeert, waarop de Iraanse marine het schip
naar een haven sleepte…. Echter het verhaal schijnt nog vreemder in
elkaar te zitten, de Stena Impero zou een Iraanse vissersboot hebben
aangevaren en daarna zijn doorgevaren, niet nodig uit te leggen dat
dit zonder meer een misdaad is……. Er is geen reden om te
twijfelen aan de woorden van de Iraanse overheid, daar deze niet
zoals westerse regeringen de ene op de andere leugen stapelt om eigen
wangedrag goed te praten…..
Zoals
gezegd: de grijnzende VVD hufter Rutte was in Washington, waar men in
de Nederlandse media doet alsof dit een prestatie van enorme omvang
is van deze professionele leugenaar…. Reken maar dat Nederland op
verzoek van de VS een fregat zal sturen naar de Straat van Hormuz,
zogenaamd ter beveiliging van de vaarwegen, waar de VS het fregat
alleen zal gebruiken om haar illegale sancties tegen Iran af te
dwingen tegen staten die het niet eens zijn met de grootste
terreurentiteit op aarde (de VS) en die de illegale VS sancties
willen ‘ontduiken’ door handel te blijven drijven met
Iran………….. (ontduiken tussen aanhalingstekens, daar die
sancties eenzijdig door de VS zijn opgelegd en niet door de VN,
waarmee deze sancties feitelijk illegaal zijn….)
Om
Ruttes bezoek een beetje soepel te laten verlopen heeft CDA
volksverlakker Bijleveld een dag voordat Rutte met de pet in de hand
op bezoek was in het Witte Huis, toegezegd nog eens 8 of 9 JSF’s te
zullen aanschaffen* (ook ter compensatie van de
100 JSF’s die Turkije niet meer mag kopen bij Lockheed Martin, daar
Turkije het S-400 raketsysteem van de Russen heeft gekocht, dit ter
bescherming van het stealth systeem van de JSF, terwijl dat systeem
al lang is gekraakt en bijvoorbeeld de Sukhoi 35, een echte
straaljager van de Russen, die het wanproduct van Lockheed Martin op de
radar kan zien..)
Terug
naar de zaak met de olietankers: zoals de VS sancties tegen Iran
illegaal zijn, zijn ook de EU sancties tegen Syrië niet
ingesteld door de VN, maar eenzijdig door de EU, waarmee ook deze
sancties in feite illegaal zijn….. Afgelopen zaterdagmiddag na
14.00 u. (CET) werd op BBC World Service Iran nogmaals gedemoniseerd
en werd het aanhouden van 2 tankers door dat land veroordeeld, waar
het aanhouden van de Iraanse supertanker door Gibraltar (ofwel
Groot-Brittannië) niet werd genoemd…..
Kleine
fout van de BBC: men liet een professor aan het woord (kan zijn naam
niet terugvinden) die stelde dat de actie van Iran volkomen
begrijpelijk is gezien de illegale actie van GB tegen de Iraanse
olietanker, waar deze professor terecht stelde dat GB de Iraanse
tanker bestormde op verzoek van de VS en dus vanwege de illegale
sancties van de VS tegen het Iraanse volk…….
De
presentator noemde de verlenging van het aan de ketting leggen van de
Iraanse tanker met 30 dagen door de rechter, waar hij stelde dat in
die tijd de zaak verder zal worden onderzocht…. Kortom: GB kan niet
bewijzen dat de olietanker op weg was naar Syrië, terwijl het
intussen wel duidelijk is geworden dat GB inderdaad op verzoek van de
VS de olietanker aan de ketting heeft gelegd….
Trump
schijnt te zijn bijgedraaid wat betreft Iran en waar hij eerder
militair ingrijpen uitsloot, is dit nu toch weer mogelijk, gezien
zijn uitlatingen na het aanhouden van de 2 tankers door Iran……

Secretary Jeremy Hunt has warned Iran of “serious
consequences” if its military does not return control of
the British-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero, according to Sky
News.
He said British action will be “robust” but
also emphasized “we’re
not looking at military options” at this early stage.
Hunt
said he’s seeking to urgently speak to Iran’s foreign minister,
currently unreachable as he’s on a plane flying back from a UN
meeting in New York, and hopes the crisis will be resolved
diplomatically. Per Sky News:
Mr
Hunt said: “This is completely unacceptable, freedom of
navigation must be maintained, we are having an emergency meeting of
the government’s COBR committee in a few minutes time.”
“We
will respond in a way that is considered but robust, and we are
absolutely clear that if this situation is not resolved quickly there
will be serious consequences.”
Mr
Hunt continued: “We’re not looking at military options, we are
looking at a diplomatic way to resolve the situation.”
“But
we are very clear that it must be resolved.”
And
according to a breaking CNN report, the White House could once again
be on a war footing following President Trump backing off
the previously planned strike on Iranian
positions last month:
“President Trump has privately adopteda
more hawkish tone on Iran in recent days,
according to three people familiar with the developments, as tensions
increase in the Gulf.”
This
as American aircraft are also said to be escorting
an unidentified US cargo ship through
the Strait of Hormuz Friday evening, and with a beefed up US military
presence in the region responding to the new crisis: “the
US military is monitoring the transit of US commercial cargo ship
through the Strait of Hormuz using armed aircraft
overhead,” according
to the
latest updates.

British
officials are scrambling after two UK tankers were captured
by Iran in
one dramatic day in the gulf — or
rather we should clarify that the Stena Impero is UK flagged but not
owned by a UK company (the owner ‘Stena Bulk’ is based in
Sweden), while the Mesdar is Liberian flagged but is in fact
owned by a UK company.
However, Iranian
state media is denying
that the Liberian flagged, UK-owned tanker captured is still being
held,
with new reports it’s been released, per the following wire
updates:
Norbulk
Shipping UK says Liberian registered vessel Mesdar wasboarded
by armed personnel at
approximately 17:30 BST on Friday.
…Norbulk
says armed guards have left and the vessel is now free to continue to
voyage, crew safe and well.
UK
Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt voiced that Britain is “extremely
concerned” by the “unacceptable” seizure of the two vessels
IRGC forces in the Strait of Hormuz. “I
will shortly attend a COBR meeting to review what we know and what we
can do to swiftly secure the release of the two vessels,”he
said in
reference to a Cabinet Office Briefing Room (COBR) meeting over
the major crisis, which is equivalent to the National Security
Council’s ‘situation room’ meetings.
“Their
crews comprise a range of nationalities, but we understand there are
no British citizens on board either ship,” Hunt continued,
according to the
AP.
“These seizures are unacceptable. It is essential that freedom of
navigation is maintained and that all ships can move safely and
freely in the region.”
Meanwhile
the UK Chamber of Shipping also said it “condemn
unreservedly” the capture of the British-owned vessel, but it
remains unclear the precise order of the pair of tankers’ capture.
Addressing
the crisis, President Trump told
reporters at
the White House,“We
have a very close alliance with the United Kingdom. We always
have.”
And
in an early indication that Trump will be content to let the UK take
the lead on this crisis (also considering there was no threat of
war), the president said: “We’ll talk to the UK… We
heard about it. We heard it was one. We heard it was two,”
according to CNN.
“This
only goes to show what I’m saying about Iran. Trouble. Nothing but
trouble,” Trump stated.
“It
goes to show you I was right about Iran.” The president
added,“We
have a lot of ships there that are warships.”
On
that point, CNN notes the US military has significantly stepped up
patrols in the Persian Gulf following news of the tankers’ seizure.
The
US is taking measures to protect a ship near where two British
tankers were seized by Iran.
According
to a US defense official with direct knowledge, at this hour,the
US military is monitoring the transit of US commercial cargo ship
through the Strait of Hormuz using armed aircraft overhead.
The US will not say the location or other details, but the transit
typically takes six to eight hours.
The
US cargo ship is reportedly traversing the same narrow, dangerous
waters near where the prior two vessels were captured by IRGC
operatives.
