Afgelopen week werden er verkiezingen gehouden in Syrië, 14 miljoen van de 18 miljoen stemgerechtigden brachten hun stem uit en als in 2014 was de verkiezingswinst voor het Assad regime groot, meer dan 90%.
Uiteraard verwachtte men dit niet in het westen en in aanloop van de verkiezingen hebben de westerse reguliere media hun best gedaan om het bewind Assad onderuit te halen, niet door gesprekken te voeren met Syriërs in door het Syrische leger bevrijdde gebieden, maar door gesprekken te voeren met mensen in door terreurgroepen en Turkije gecontroleerd gebied langs de grens met Turkije (het noordoosten van Syrië) en het illegaal door de VS bezette olierijke gebied in het oosten van het land en met ‘dissidenten’ die Syrië al lang geleden zijn ontvlucht, niet zelden daar ze werden gezocht voor ordinaire misdaden als roof en moord…..
Het door de VS bezette gebied is niet alleen olierijk en derhalve een belangrijke economische bron voor Syrië, het gebied is ook bekend als een succesvol landbouwgebied……. Het is zelfs zo dat in het door de VS illegaal bezette gebied, leden van ISIS worden beschermd door de VS…… De VS verkoopt de olie en steekt de inkomsten in eigen zak, zo ook met de landbouwproducten uit het gebied en beide zaken, dus olie en landbouwoogst gaan niet naar Syrië, dat door vooral de VS en haar oorlogshond de NAVO is platgegooid……. Niet vreemd dan ook dat er door deze grove diefstal zelfs honger wordt geleden in Syrië (zie de links onderaan dit bericht), ondanks dat stemde men massaal op Assad…….
Uiteraard is het voorgaande een schande van formaat, zeker als je bedenkt dat Syrië bezig is met de wederopbouw van het land waarvoor enorme kapitalen nodig zijn…… Echter het voorgaande was het nog niet: de VS en het westen hebben Syrië illegaal sancties opgelegd, overduidelijk met de bedoeling de bevolking op te zetten tegen de regering, ofwel ontevredenheid kweken om een regimewissel door te drukken…..
Uit de verkiezingen blijkt dat de smerige westerse manipulaties niet werken, niet zo vreemd als je bedenkt dat de Syriërs hebben gezien waar de westerse terreur toe heeft geleid: -verdeeldheid zaaien onder een volk met vele religies die vreedzaam naast elkaar konden leven onder het Assad regime, -de steun van het westen (zie de links onder dit bericht >> ook door Nederland!!) voor de diverse terreurgroepen die voor een heel groot deel werden en worden bevolkt door buitenlandse jihadstrijders, figuren die elke andere religie en van het islamitisch-soennitsch afwijkende vormen van islam met grote terreur om het leven hebben gebracht en op andere manieren hebben geterroriseerd, -het bombarderen van ziekenhuizen en woonwijken door de NAVO luchtmacht, o.l.v. de VS, zo bombardeerde de VS Raqqa dusdanig dat de VN de VS smeekte te stoppen, wat de VS weigerde…….
De westerse media en politiek hadden totaal geen aandacht voor de door het reguliere Syrische leger bevrijdde steden en dorpen, daar de achtergebleven en teruggekeerde bevolking zich pal achter de troepen van dat leger schaarden, blij dat ze eindelijk werden bevrijd van de vreselijke terreur van de ‘gematigde rebellen’ (lees: terreurgroepen), noch had en heeft men aandacht voor het feit dat de verschillende religies in de door het Syrische leger bevrijdde gebieden weer hand in hand naast elkaar leven.
Nee het westen bleef hameren op gifgasaanvallen die het toeschreef aan het bewind Assad, terwijl na onderzoek keer op keer bleek dat de gifgasaanvallen werden uitgevoerd door verschillende terreurgroepen, waar het westen zelfs wist dat deze groepen o.a. over chlorine en Sarin (beiden gifgassen) beschikten…… Obama heeft zelfs toegegeven dat een paar gifgasaanvallen niet door het reguliere Syrische leger werden uitgevoerd, maar door zogenaamde rebellengroepen, ondanks dat feit blijft men alle gifgasaanvallen toeschrijven aan Assad…….
De media besteedden amper aandacht aan de uitslag van de verkiezingen in Syrië en men stelde plompverloren dat internationale waarnemers niet welkom waren, terwijl Syrië volkomen terecht grote argwaan heeft tegen alle westerse bemoeienis, niet zo vreemd als je ziet dat het westen het land voor een groot deel in puin heeft gelegd, blijft liegen dat Assad gifgas tegen de eigen bevolking gebruikte en het land illegaal sancties heeft opgelegd…….

Syria’s presidential elections this
week were a resounding success against a
backdrop of 10 years of brutal, relentless
war imposed on the Arab country by the
United States and its NATO partners.
After a decade-long torment from terrorist
mercenaries deployed covertly by the Western
powers, as well as overt aggression from NATO
military forces illegally attacking the country
and from cruel economic sanctions warfare, the
people of Syria remain defiant and independent.
President Bashar al-Assad was re-elected for a
fourth seven-year term after winning 95 percent
of votes cast. The achievement is stunning. It
completely refutes – indeed makes a mockery of –
the Western narrative depicting Assad as a
“tyrant”.
Despite all the grueling hardships, the
Syrian people turned out in droves to vote on
Thursday. The turnout was over 78 percent with
more than 14 million votes cast out of an
eligible 18 million electorate.
There is no way the Western governments and their
servile corporate media can spin this epic
demonstration of popular defiance to their nefarious
intrigues for regime change in Syria. Hence, the
total silence among Western media about the election
result. That silence is at once hilarious and
damning of Western guilt over the real nature of the
war in Syria.
It was always a foreign war of criminal
aggression. If there was any justice prevailing in
this world, Western politicians by the dozens should
be tried for war crimes.
Before the election this week, the United States,
Britain, France, and other NATO powers tried to smear the
Syrian democratic will, labeling the ballot as
neither fair nor free.
Well, the sheer numbers of people turning out to
vote and the subsequent scenes of jubilation across
Syria tell another story, one that confounds the
Western propaganda and exposes the criminality of
the NATO powers and their toxic media.
The Syrian nation has refused to bow after years
of NATO-backed terrorism in their country. They have
chosen their president – again.
The same kind of shameful silence in Western
media has been seen numerous times before when the
Syrian army liberated towns and villages from
Western-backed terrorists. When people came out to
greet their Syrian army liberators, the Western
media simply ignored the reality despite having told
their consumers beforehand that the Syrian army and
their Russian allies were committing slaughter
against “rebels” and civilian populations.
Not one Western mainstream media outlet has
followed up to report on how Syrians feel about
being liberated and of having their peaceful lives
restored. That’s because Syrians would praise the
leadership of Assad, the courage of the army, and
the crucial help of Russia, Iran and Hezbollah. In
other words, the West’s lies would be demolished by
the truth, and so their media are compelled to
ignore and keep silent.
For everyone around the
world who desires justice and peace and the defeat
of imperialism, the victory from Syria’s election is
a glorious day to celebrate. Congratulations are due
to President Assad. But more so to the people of
Syria who showed that it is possible to stand up to
the real tyranny, that of the United States and its
lawless NATO rogue allies who wanted to destroy
Syria in order to install their own puppet regime.
Despite unspeakable barbarities inflicted on the
peace-loving people of Syria, they have remained
steadfast in their unity and determination for
independence, regardless of their different
religions. The NATO ploy of trying to incite a
sectarian war among Syrians failed because they knew
all along who their real enemy was.
For those
willing to see reality, Syria exposes the forces of
evil in this world. The Western lying media tell us
that Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, and so on, are
“bad” and are threatening global peace. The
Americans and their NATO partners lecture and
pontificate about “rules and order”. When it is they
who are caught in the headlights of truth: they tried to destroy a
country just like they have countless others.
But that country – Syria – just showed its
spectacular strength to overcome the evil designs of
the United States and its minions in NATO.
Lamentably, Syria faces more trials and
challenges from the continuing economic warfare
being waged by US and European sanctions.
Reconstruction from a decade of NATO aggression will
not be easy. But with the help of Russia, China,
Iran, and others, the Syrian people will win
finally. They have just shown their invincible
resilience beyond any doubt.

April dit jaar heeft het Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) haar jaarlijkse rapport gepubliceerd over de wereldwijde wapenhandel en weer (zoals altijd) is de VS de grote winnaar……. Tussen 2016 en 2020 heeft de VS 37% van de totale wapenleveringen over de wereld voor haar rekening genomen, bijna 2 keer zoveel dan Rusland, haar concurrent op dit gebied en meer dan 6 keer zoveel dan China, de door de VS gebombardeerde vijand ‘van de dag’.
Voor de 28ste keer in de laatste 30 jaar is de VS dus de winnaar in de verkoop van dood en verderf, dit onder elke administratie of die nu Republikeins dan wel Democratisch* was, er is dan ook geen analist van de wapenhandel die opkijkt van de conclusie die het SIPRI heeft getrokken…..
Met de grootschalige verkoop van wapens houdt de VS ook conflicten elders in stand en bevordert zelfs conflicten (als de VS daar al niet zelf mee bezig was…..) Neem Israël, de VS heeft sinds de illegale oprichting van die staat maar liefst 236 miljard dollar (in 2018 herberekend met medeneming van inflatie) aan economische en wapenhulp geboden…… Ook het laatste platgooien van de Gazastrook is mede te danken aan wapenleveranties van de VS aan dat gestolen land…….
Wapenleveranties aan dictaturen als die van Saoedi-Arabië (S-A), Egypte, de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) en de Filipijnen dragen bij aan enorme ellende die met VS wapens worden aangericht, zoals de genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen….. De Saoedische terreurcoalitie, bestaande uit o.a. S-A, de VAE zijn zeker wat betreft deze 2 verantwoordelijk voor het bewapenen van terreurgroepen als Al Qaida en ISIS, die overigens ook meermaals direct zijn bevoorraad door de VS zelf…….
De genoemde landen zijn nog maar een paar voorbeelden, zo houdt de VS ook foute regeringen in Latijns-Amerika in het zadel met grote wapenleveranties, zoals die in Honduras, dat een waar terreurbewind voert tegen de arme oorspronkelijke bewoners en andere armen in dat land…….. Deze mensen vluchten dan ook in grote getale naar de VS, terwijl de VS hen niet wenst op te nemen, waar deze grootste terreurentiteit ter wereld zelf de voorwaarden heeft geschapen waarom men daar op de vlucht slaat…… De VS geeft zelfs technische en wapenhulp hulp aan landen als Mexico om de zuidgrenzen te controleren en dicht te houden voor vluchtelingen (om nog maar te zwijgen over de schandelijke behandeling van vluchtelingen in de VS, zoals het scheiden van ouders en kinderen, wat overigens ook al gebeurde onder Obama en het opsluiten van mensen en kinderen in gevangenissen die alles weg hebben van concentratiekampen……)
Biden beloofde voor en kort na zijn aantreden de VS wapenexport aan banden te leggen, echter van die beloften is niets terechtgekomen, niet vreemd overigens als je bedenkt dat Biden al mede verantwoordelijk was voor VS wapenexport toen hij fungeerde als vicepresident onder Obama……. Nee, onder Biden zal er ook op dit gebied niets veranderen…….

Selling Death: America Dominant Again (in Arms
Sales)
In April of this year,
the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute
(SIPRI) published its annual analysis of
trends in global arms sales and the winner — as
always — was the U.S. of A. Between 2016 and 2020,
this country accounted for 37 percent of total
international weapons deliveries, nearly twice the
level of its closest rival, Russia, and more than
six times that of Washington’s threat du jour,
China.
Sadly, this was no
surprise to arms-trade analysts. The U.S. has held
that top
spot for 28
of the past 30 years, posting massive sales numbers
regardless of which party held power in the White
House or Congress.
This is, of course, the
definition of good news for weapons contractors like
Boeing, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, even if it’s
bad news for so many of the rest of us, especially
those who suffer from the use of those arms by
militaries in places like Saudi Arabia, Egypt,
Israel, the Philippines and the United Arab
Emirates. The recent bombing and leveling of Gaza
by the U.S.-financed
and supplied Israeli
military is just the latest example of the
devastating toll exacted by American weapons
transfers in these years.
While it is well known
that the United States provides substantial aid to
Israel, the degree to which the Israeli military
relies on U.S. planes, bombs, and missiles is not
fully appreciated. According to statistics compiled by
the Center for International Policy’s Security
Assistance Monitor, the United States has provided
Israel with $63 billion in security assistance over
the past two decades, more than 90 percent of it
through the State Department’s Foreign Military
Financing, which provides funds to buy U.S.
weaponry. But Washington’s support for the Israeli
state goes back much further. Total U.S. military
and economic aid to Israel exceeds $236
billion (in
inflation-adjusted 2018 dollars) since its founding
— nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars.
King of the
Arms Dealers
Donald Trump,
sometimes referred
to by
President Joe Biden as “the other guy,” warmly
embraced the role of arms-dealer-in-chief and not
just by sustaining massive U.S. arms aid for Israel,
but throughout the Middle East and beyond. In a May
2017 visit to
Saudi Arabia — his first foreign trip — Trump would
tout a mammoth (if, as it turned out, highly
exaggerated) $110-billion arms
deal with that kingdom.
On one level, the
Saudi deal was a publicity stunt meant to show that
President Trump could, in his own words, negotiate
agreements that would benefit the U.S. economy. His
son-in-law, Jared Kushner, a pal of Prince Mohammed
Bin Salman (MBS), the architect of
Saudi Arabia’s devastating intervention in Yemen,
even put in a call to
then-Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson. His
desire: to get a better deal for the Saudi regime on
a multibillion-dollar missile defense system that
Lockheed was planning to sell it. The point of the
call was to put together the biggest arms package
imaginable in advance of his father-in-law’s trip to
Riyadh.
When Trump arrived in
Saudi Arabia to immense local
fanfare, he
milked the deal for all it was worth. Calling the
future Saudi sales “tremendous,” he assured the
world that they would create “jobs,
jobs, jobs” in the United States.
That arms package,
however, did far more than burnish Trump’s
reputation as a deal maker and jobs creator. It
represented an endorsement of the Saudi-led
coalition’s brutal war in Yemen, which has now
resulted in the deaths of
nearly a quarter of a million people and put millions of
others on the brink of famine.
And don’t for a second
think that Trump was alone in enabling that
intervention. The kingdom had received a record $115
billion in
arms offers — notifications to Congress that don’t
always result in final sales — over the eight years
of the Obama administration, including for combat
aircraft, bombs, missiles, tanks, and attack
helicopters, many of which have since been used in
Yemen.
After repeated Saudi air
strikes on
civilian targets, the Obama foreign-policy team
finally decided to slow Washington’s support for
that war effort, moving in December 2016 to stop a
multibillion-dollar bomb sale. Upon taking office,
however, Trump reversed
course and pushed
that deal forward, despite Saudi actions that
Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) said “look
like war crimes to me.”
Trump made it
abundantly clear, in fact, that his reasons for
arming Saudi Arabia were anything but strategic. In
an infamous March 2018 White House meeting with
Mohammed bin Salman, he even brandished a
map of the United States to show which places were
likely to benefit most from those Saudi arms deals,
including election swing states Pennsylvania,
Michigan and Wisconsin.
He doubled down on that
economic argument after the October 2018 murder and
dismemberment of Saudi journalist and Washington
Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi at that
country’s consulate in Istanbul, even as calls to
cut off sales to the regime mounted in Congress.
The president made
it clear then
that jobs and profits, not human rights, were
paramount to him, stating:
“$110 billion will
be spent on the purchase of military equipment
from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and many
other great U.S. defense contractors. If we
foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and
China would be the enormous beneficiaries — and
very happy to acquire all of this newfound
business. It would be a wonderful gift to them
directly from the United States!”
And so it went. In the
summer of 2019 Trump vetoed an
effort by Congress to block an $8.1-billion arms
package that included bombs and support for the
Royal Saudi Air Force and he continued to back the
kingdom even in his final weeks in office. In
December 2020, he offered more
than $500 million worth of bombs to that regime on
the heels of a $23-billion
package to the
United Arab Emirates (UAE), its partner-in-crime in
the Yemen war.
Saudi Arabia and the
UAE weren’t the only beneficiaries of Trump’s
penchant for selling weapons. According to a report by
the Security Assistance Monitor at the Center for
International Policy, his administration made arms
sales offers of more than $110 billion to customers
all over the world in 2020, a 75 percent increase
over the yearly averages reached during the Obama
administration, as well as in the first three years
of his tenure.
Will Biden Be
Different?
Advocates of reining in
U.S. weapons trafficking took note of Joe Biden’s
campaign-trail pledge that,
if elected, he would not “check our values at the
door” in deciding whether to continue arming the
Saudi regime. Hopes were further raised when, in
his first foreign policy speech as president, he announced that
his administration would end “support for offensive
operations in Yemen” along with “relevant arms
sales.”
That statement, of
course, left a potentially giant loophole on the
question of which weapons would be considered in
support of “offensive operations,” but it did at
least appear to mark a sharp departure from the
Trump era. In the wake of Biden’s statement, arms
sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE were indeed put on
hold,
pending a review of their potential consequences.
Three months into
Biden’s term, however, the president’s early pledge
to rein in damaging arms deals are already eroding.
The first blow was the news that the administration
would indeed move
forward with
a $23-billion arms package to the UAE, including
F-35 combat aircraft, armed drones and a staggering
$10 billion worth of bombs and missiles.
The decision was
ill-advised on several fronts, most notably because
of that country’s role in Yemen’s brutal civil war.
There, despite scaling back its troops on the
ground, it continues to
arm, train and finance 90,000 militia members,
including extremist groups with links to the
Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
The UAE has also backed armed
opposition forces in Libya in violation of a United
Nations embargo, launched drone
strikes there that killed scores of civilians and cracked
down on dissidents
at home and abroad. It regularly makes arbitrary
arrests and uses torture. If arming the UAE isn’t a
case of “checking our values at the door,” it’s not
clear what is.
To its credit, the
Biden administration committed to
suspending two Trump bomb deals with Saudi Arabia.
Otherwise, it’s not clear what (if any) other
pending Saudi sales will be deemed “offensive” and
blocked. Certainly, the new administration has allowed U.S.
government personnel and contractors to help
maintain the effectiveness of the Saudi Air Force
and so has continued to enable ongoing air strikes
in Yemen that are notorious for killing civilians.
The Biden team has also
failed to forcefully pressure the Saudis to end their
blockade of that country, which United Nations
agencies have determined could
put 400,000 Yemeni children at risk of death by
starvation in the next year.
In addition, the Biden
administration has cleared a sale of
anti-ship missiles to the Egyptian regime of Abdel
Fattah al-Sisi, the most repressive government in
that nation’s history, helmed by the man Donald
Trump referred
to as “my favorite
dictator.” The missiles themselves are in no way
useful for either internal repression or that
country’s scorched-earth anti-terror
campaign against
rebels in its part of the Sinai peninsula — where
civilians have been tortured and killed, and tens of
thousands displaced from their homes — but the sale
does represent a tacit endorsement of the regime’s
repressive activities.
Guns, Anyone?
While Biden’s early
actions have undermined promises to take a different
approach to arms sales, the story isn’t over. Key
members of Congress are planning to closely monitor the
UAE sale and perhaps intervene to prevent the
delivery of the weapons. Questions have been raised about
what arms should go to Saudi Arabia and reforms
that would strengthen Congress’s role in blocking
objectionable arms transfers are being pressed by at
least some members of the House and the Senate.
One area where Biden
could readily begin to fulfill his campaign pledge
to reduce the harm to civilians from U.S. arms sales
would be firearms exports. The Trump administration
significantly loosened restrictions
and regulations on the export of a wide range of
guns, including semi-automatic firearms and sniper
rifles. As a result, such exports surged in
2020, with record sales of more than 175,000
military rifles and shotguns.
In a distinctly deregulatory
mood,
Trump’s team moved sales of deadly firearms from the
jurisdiction of the State Department, which had a
mandate to vet any such deals for possible
human-rights abuses, to the Commerce Department,
whose main mission was simply to promote the export
of just about anything. Trump’s “reforms” also eliminated the
need to pre-notify Congress on any major firearms
sales, making it far harder to stop deals with
repressive regimes.
As he pledged to
do during his presidential campaign, Biden could
reverse Trump’s approach without even seeking
congressional approval. The time to do so is now,
given the damage such gun exports cause in places
like the Philippines and Mexico,
where U.S.-supplied firearms have been used to kill
thousands of civilians, while repressing democratic
movements and human-rights defenders.
Who
Benefits?
Beyond the slightest
doubt, a major — or perhaps even the major
— obstacle to reforming arms sales policies and
practices is the weapons industry itself. That
includes major contractors like Boeing, Lockheed
Martin, Raytheon Technologies and General Dynamics
that produce fighter
planes, bombs, armored vehicles, and other major
weapons systems, as well as firearms makers like Sig
Sauer.
Raytheon stands out in
this crowd because of its determined efforts to push
through bomb sales to Saudi Arabia and the deep
involvement of its former (or future) employees with
the U.S. government. A former Raytheon lobbyist,
Charles Faulkner, worked in the Trump State
Department’s Office of Legal Counsel and was involved
in deciding that Saudi Arabia was not — it was! —
intentionally bombing civilians in Yemen. He then
supported declaring a bogus “emergency” to ram
through the sale of bombs and of aircraft support to
Saudi Arabia.
Raytheon has indeed
insinuated itself in the halls of government in a
fashion that should be deeply troubling even by the
minimalist standards of the twenty-first-century
military-industrial complex. Former Trump Defense
Secretary Mark Esper was Raytheon’s chief in-house lobbyist before
joining the administration, while current Biden
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin served on
Raytheon’s board of directors. While Austin has
pledged to recuse himself
from decisions involving the company, it’s a pledge
that will prove difficult to verify.
Arms sales are Big
Business — the caps are a must! — for the top
weapons makers. Lockheed Martin gets roughly one-quarter of
its sales from foreign governments and Raytheon five
percent of its
revenue from Saudi sales. American jobs allegedly
tied to weapons exports are always the selling point
for such dealings, but in reality, they’ve been
greatly exaggerated.
At most, arms sales account for
just more than one-tenth of one percent of U.S.
employment. Many such sales, in fact, involve outsourcing production,
in whole or in part, to recipient nations, reducing
the jobs impact here significantly. Though it’s
seldom noted, virtually any other form of spending
creates more
jobs than weapons
production. In addition, exporting green-technology
products would create far
largerglobal
markets for U.S. goods, should the government ever
decide to support them in anything like the way it
supports the arms industry.
Given what’s at stake
for them economically, Raytheon and its cohorts
spend vast sums attempting to influence both parties
in Congress and any administration. In the past two
decades, defense companies, led by the major arms
exporting firms, spent
$285 million in campaign contributions alone and
$2.5 billion on lobbying, according to statistics
gathered by the Center for Responsive Politics. Any
changes in arms export policy will mean forcefully
taking on the arms lobby and generating enough
citizen pressure to overcome its considerable
influence in Washington.
Given the political
will to do so, there are many
steps the
Biden administration and Congress could take to rein
in runaway arms exports, especially since such deals
are uniquely unpopular with the public. A September
2019 poll by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs,
for example, found that 70
percent of
Americans think arms sales make the country less
safe.
The question is: Can
such public sentiment be mobilized in favor of
actions to stop at least the most egregious cases of
U.S. weapons trafficking, even as the global arms
trade rolls on? Selling death should be no joy for
any country, so halting it is a goal well worth
fighting for. Still, it remains to be seen whether
the Biden administration will ever limit weapons
sales or if it will simply continue to promote this
country as the world’s top arms exporter of all
time.

Het grootste deel van de westerse bevolkingen gaat er vanuit dat vooral de verhoudingen tussen Oekraïne en de VS op en top zijn, dit vanwege de steun voor de coup tegen de democratisch gekozen president Janoekovytsj, zeker als men even de dreigementen aan het adres van de Oekraïense ‘regering’ vergeet, dreigementen gedaan door Joe Biden en Donald Trump om bepaalde figuren te ontzien resp. juist te vervolgen en dat men bij niet voldoen aan de eis bepaalde hulp van de VS kon vergeten……
Joe Biden zette als vicepresident onder Obama Oekraïne onder druk zijn zoon Hunter niet verder te onderzoeken op witwassen en andere fraude, waarbij deze eiste dat de procureur-generaal, die het onderzoek naar zijn zoon Hunter leidde, ontslagen diende te worden, daar Oekraïne anders een grote wapenlevering uit de VS kon vergeten (dat heeft Biden zelfs op tv toegegeven). Bij Trump was het niet anders al wilde hij juist het tegenovergestelde dus wel een onderzoek naar misdadig gedrag van Hunter Biden.
Pepe Escobar heeft een kort artikel geschreven over het bezoek aan Oekraïne van de huidige VS minister van buitenlandse zaken Antony Blinken, dit ‘om over de spanningen met Rusland’ te spreken. Echter ‘een lekkende bron’ stelt dat Blinken de Oekraïense president Zelensky de (fiks beledigende) les heeft gelezen over hoe Oekraïne moet omgaan met zaken als het bedrijfsleven, de rechterlijke macht en corruptie……
Escobar heeft een aantal zaken genoemd waaraan Oekraïne zich volgens Blinken dient te houden: alle staatsbedrijven van Oekraïne moeten gecontroleerd worden door buitenlanders, of mensen die zijn verbonden aan buitenlandse organisaties, ook anti-corruptie onderzoeken en het gerechtelijk apparaat moeten worden gecontroleerd door het buitenland……
Andriy Kobolyev* de ‘vers ontslagen’ CEO van het staatsenergiebedrijf Naftogaz, moet weer worden aangenomen op zijn functie. Deze figuur wordt door de VS en de rest van het westen gezien als de ‘heilige’ die de corruptie en financiële manipulaties van het bedrijf zou kunnen aanpakken**, beetje vreemd daar deze figuur een paar maanden na de coup in 2014 werd aangesteld onder druk van de corrupte junta van Porosjenko, buiten dat: me dunkt dik 6 jaar moet toch genoeg zijn voor een CEO om orde op zaken te stellen (of…..)……
Voorts heeft Blinken van Zelensky actie geëist tegen de oligarchen, zodat grote delen van de Oekraïense economie ‘kunnen worden overgedragen’ aan buitenlanders/buitenlandse bedrijven (het liefst uit de VS natuurlijk), zodat buitenlanders kans maken tegen die oligarchen) en hetzelfde geldt voor privatisering van land…… (ook daar moeten ‘buitenlanders’ de kans krijgen deze te verwerven…..)
Zelensky aan het front in Oost-Oekraïne,waar neonazi-bataljons steden bombarderen let op de nieuwe emblemen en vergelijk die met die op de foto hieronder……
Een wel heel vreemd onderdeel van het artikel is het volgende: Blinken zou Zelensky hebben gewaarschuwd dat Russische troepen Oekraïne zouden kunnen binnenvallen en mocht dat gebeuren, Zelensky alleen kan rekenen op grote politieke steun uit de VS, dus geen militaire bijstand. Daaruit concludeert Escobar dat Blinken Zelensky te verstaan heeft gegeven niet langer te zeuren om het NAVO-lidmaatschap en moet ophouden de Russen te provoceren, daar president Putin die al ‘rode lijnen heeft getrokken’ anders wel eens drastische beslissingen zou kunnen nemen……. Totaal ongeloofwaardig als je het mij vraagt: de VS droomt ervan dat Rusland Oost-Oekraïne echt zou binnentrekken, daar dan alle mogelijkheden openstaan om Rusland de prijs te laten betalen…. Daarnaast is Blinken juist een oorlogshitser die alles aan zal grijpen om de wereld de superioriteit van de VS te tonen….. Trouwens waarom zou Blinken zich druk maken om de neonazi-bataljons die in Oost-Oekraïne dood en verderf zaaien in steden en dorpen en die zich keer op keer niets aantrekken van de afspraken die tot wapenstilstanden hebben geleid?? Blinken zelf heeft in de korte tijd dat hij aan de macht is al zoveel gelogen over Rusland dat het hoogst onwaarschijnlijk is dat hij een andere natie tot de orde zou roepen…..
Enkele van de emblemen die de Oekraïense neaonazi-bataljons gebruiken
Neem het samentrekken van Russische troepen langs de grens met Oekraïne, als je Blinken moest geloven was dit al bijna een zware oorlogsmisdaad, terwijl de NAVO intussen op meerdere plekken langs de Russische grens grote militaire oefeningen heeft gepland, oefeningen die binnen een paar maanden zullen plaatsvinden, voorts heeft de NAVO een groot aantal oorlogsschepen in de Zwarte Zee ‘gestationeerd’ (uiteraard buiten de territoriale wateren van Rusland, maar daar wel dichtbij…….) Overigens wat betreft die militaire oefeningen van de NAVO: deze vinden bijna het jaarrond plaats langs de grens met Rusland, waarbij de NAVO (altijd onder militair opperbevel van de VS) zich op grondgebied bevindt waar het niet mag zijn volgens afspraken in 1991 gemaakt met Gorbatsjov, de laatste Sovjet president….. Over provoceren gesproken…..
Terug naar de regels die Blinken Zelensky (Oekraïne) zou hebben opgelegd: VS burgers (en bezittingen) in Oekraïne moeten onaantastbaar zijn voor de Oekraïense wet. Hare kwaadaardigheid Victoria Nuland, ook aanwezig bij de ontmoeting tussen Blinken en Zelensky, heeft een lijst opgesteld van onaantastbare personen, die Blinken later afzonderlijk zou hebben ontmoet……
Ongelofelijk overigens dat de EU met deze zaak alweer over zich heen laat lopen door de VS, maar ja, de EU is dan ook de 51ste staat van de VS…….
Tot slot werd Zelensky te verstaan gegeven iedereen in Oekraïne op te pakken, die heeft geholpen met het aanleveren van informatie over Hunter Biden aan Rudolph Giuliani, die dit doorspeelde naar de media…….. Volgens de bron liet Blinken Zelensky sprakeloos achter, e.e.a. was totaal onverwacht. Waarbij het overdragen van bezittingen in handen van oligarchen aan buitenlandse belanghebbenden hem zeker de kop zal kosten…..
Oekraïne is niet verworden tot de 52ste staat van de VS, maar is de zoveelste kolonie van deze terreurentiteit!!

Imagine this reverie coming about because of a
“pin!” in your inbox. After all you have just been
presented with an astonishing piece of intel. You
scramble to the exit, actually the entrance of the
Magic Theater, where you ask, Keats-style, Was it a
dream? Do I wake or sleep?
So what was the dream about? Oh, something so
prosaic, so down to the nitty gritty geopolitics:
what really happened during the visit of US
Secretary of State Tony Blinken to Ukraine.
The great Andrei Martyanov has remarked that
Blinken “told Kiev behind the scenes to ‘dial it
down’, amidst the fluffy tropes about US concern for
Ukraine’s ‘sovereignty’ and ‘security’”.
Well, looks like there was way more than fluffy
tropes.
Leaked info on the closed-door meeting between
Blinken and Comedian-in-Charge Zelensky is no less
than incandescent. Blinken seemed to have read a no
holds barred riot act.
Here are the guidelines. All Ukrainian state
corporations must be controlled by the proverbial
“foreign interests”. So board majorities must be
either foreign or 5th columnists. The
entire anti-corruption vertical drive must also be
foreign-controlled. Same for the judicial system.
Andriy Kobolyev – an American asset – must be
reinstated as head of Naftogaz. Zelensky moved
mountains to get rid of Kobolyev.
Blinken demanded a massive push against every
Ukrainian oligarch, so that huge chunks of Ukrainian
economy are transferred to – who else – foreigners.
Same for land privatization.
Somewhat hilariously, Blinken warned that Russian
troops might invade Ukraine. In this case, Zelensky
can count only on huge political assistance, not
military. So Zelensky in fact was ordered to stop
asking to join NATO and cease provoking Russia, as
President Putin, who already drew red lines, could
make a “drastic decision”.
Blinken demanded that American assets should be
untouchable by Ukrainian law, and named honored
figures of civil society. Maidan cookie distributor
Victoria “F**k the EU” Nuland, also in the room,
drew up a list of The Untouchables, and Blinken met
with them separately.
Finally, the giant ghost hanging over the whole
trip to Kiev had to make itself known. In practice,
Zelensky was invited to turn in everyone in Ukraine
who helped bring information about Hunter Biden to
the media via Rudolph Giuliani.
According to the source who had access to the
leak, Zelensky was left beyond speechless. That’s
not exactly what he was expecting. Especially when
it comes to transferring valuable assets controlled
by Ukrainian oligarchs to “foreign interests”.
Someone will inevitably whack him.
No one is touching this leak – as if it was
radioactive poison. No one will confirm it. Its
plausibility though cannot be denied.
Contradicting these powerful, left unnamed
“foreign interests” is simply out of the question.
They now seem to be guided by a “take the money and
run” logic, as in taking over the looting of Ukraine
lock, stock and barrel before the whole thing –
actually a failed state – blows up.
Pity those oligarchs who thought they were going
to loot the land through privatization. Instead the
money is on a one way out journey. Follow the money.
Follow the dream.
** Zo was het westen ook blij met de aanstelling van Petro Porosjenko als juntaleider na de staatsgreep tegen Janoekovytsj, die werd beschuldigd zwaar corrupt te zijn, echter qua corruptie kon Janoekovytsj nog niet in de schaduw staan van de neonazi Porosjenko, die als juntaleider samen met zijn club misdadigers het overgrote deel van de EU hulp heeft weggesluisd naar het buitenland, in Nederland zou deze ploert zelfs meerdere bankrekeningen hebben……… (en dat tegen ‘gunstige voorwaarden….’)
Dacht even dat ik erin zou blijven toen ik vanmorgen de nieuwste publicatie las van Glenn Greenwald, waarin hij schrijft over de ‘wereldtour’ waarmee de VS minister van buitenlandse zaken, Antony Blinken iedereen de les leest over het belang van persvrijheid en onafhankelijke journalistiek, terwijl de Democratische Biden administratie als die van de voormalig president Obama deze persvrijheid sterk hebben ingeperkt en er zelfs voor hebben gezorgd dat de gelauwerde journalist Julian Assange al meer dan twee jaar onder isolatiefolter zit opgesloten in de Britse Belmarsh gevangenis……. Blinken heeft het gore lef te stellen dat onafhankelijke berichtgeving en vrije pers de fundering zijn van een democratisch systeem en dat deze zaken belangrijk zijn voor de VS, ook als ze elders geweld worden aangedaan….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Extra wrang daar wanneer je de woorden van Blinken zou volgen, Assange onmiddellijk vrijgelaten zou moeten worden…..
De Biden administratie wil Assange niet alleen uitgeleverd hebben en vervolgen voor spionage: het openbaren van officiële documenten van de VS overheid en van de Democratische Partij, maar heeft ook nog eens beroep aangetekend tegen de uitspraak van een Britse rechter dan Assange moet worden vrijgelaten….. (nogmaals: terwijl de woorden van Blinken volgend Assange onmiddellijk vrijgelaten zou moeten worden….) Mensenrechten en burgerrechtenorganisaties hebben de Biden administratie verzocht de klacht tegen Assange te laten varen, vooral daar de vervolging van Assange een precedent zou scheppen waarmee de persvrijheid groot gevaar zal lopen, persvrijheid die Blinken geheel hypocriet zegt te verdedigen…..
Overigens was het de Obama administratie die de vervolging van Assange op volle vaart heeft ingezet en destijds vicepremier Biden noemde Assange in 2010 een ‘high tech terrorist…..’ Hare Kwaadaardigheid en oorlogsmisdadiger Hillary Clinton, onder Obama 1 minister van BuZa, ofwel één van de voorgangers van Blinken prees de vervolging van Assange, in eerste instantie vanwege de meer dan belachelijke aanklacht van spionage, maar later ook vanwege de op Wikileaks gepubliceerde mails van 7 vooraanstaande Democratische partijleden, waaruit duidelijk werd dat zij en Clinton in 2016 een smerig spel speelden tegen haar partijcollega en eveneens presidentskandidaat Bernie Sanders, hij werd zonder meer gedwarsboomd in de poging om te worden verkozen tot de officiële presidentskandidaat van de Democraten (natuurlijk t.g.v. Clinton)…….. Clinton en de top van de Democraten hebben van meet af aan gesteld dat Rusland achter de openbaring van die mails zat, uiteraard zonder ook maar één steekhoudend bewijs te leveren (maar waarmee ze wel de aandacht van eigen misdadig gedrag wisten af te leiden)….. Volgens ingewijden moet het een campagnelid van het Clinton team zijn geweest die de bewuste documenten lekte naar Wikileaks, te weten: Seth Rich*, hij werd kort na de openbaarmaking op straat vermoord, de politie hield het op een roofmoord, terwijl geen van zijn sieraden noch geld werden gestolen……
Gezien het voorgaande is het dus ook geen wonder dat het team van Biden en de rest van de Democratische partij achter de vervolging van Assange stonden ten tijde van de Trump administratie, ondanks dat bijvoorbeeld Pompeo er blijk van gaf totaal lak te hebben aan persvrijheid en de bescherming van journalistieke bronnen…….
Kortom het pleidooi van Blinken over persvrijheid en onafhankelijke journalistiek is één grote leugen. Blijkbaar heeft men in de Biden administratie schijt aan wat de waarheid is, zoals elke administratie hiervoor, men maalt er niet om dat de woorden met het grootste gemak worden gelogenstraft, herhaling is het motto, herhaling die als eerste het volk in de VS moet overtuigen van de ‘nobele bedoelingen’ van de Biden administratie, waarbij men hoopt dat de vrienden van de VS niet malen om een leugen meer of minder….. De onbeschofte brutaliteit van de VS kent werkelijk geen grenzen meer, zoals het geweld of beter gezegd : terreur door de VS uitgeoefend in het buitenland geen grenzen meer kent!!!

Continuing his world tour
doling out righteous lectures to the world, U.S. Secretary of State
Antony Blinken on Thursday proclaimed — in a sermon you have to hear to
believe — that few things are more sacred in a democracy than
“independent journalism.” Speaking to
Radio Free Europe, Blinken paid homage to “World Press Freedom Day”;
claimed that “the United States stands strongly with independent
journalism”; explained that “the foundation of any democratic system”
entails “holding leaders accountable” and “informing citizens”; and
warned that “countries that deny freedom of the press are countries that
don’t have a lot of confidence in themselves or in their systems.”
The
rhetorical cherry on top of that cake came when he posed this question:
“What is to be afraid of in informing the people and holding leaders
accountable?” The Secretary of State then issued this vow: “Everywhere
journalism and freedom of the press is challenged, we will stand with
journalists and with that freedom.” Since I know that I would be
extremely skeptical if someone told me that those words had just come
out Blinken’s mouth, I present you here with the unedited
one-minute-fifty-two-second video clip of him saying exactly this:
That
the Biden administration is such a stalwart believer in the sanctity of
independent journalism and is devoted to defending it wherever it is
threatened would come as a great surprise to many, many people. Among
them would be Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the person
responsible for breaking more major stories about the actions of top U.S. officials than virtually all U.S. journalists employed in the corporate press combined.
Currently,
Assange is sitting in a cell in the British high-security Belmarsh
prison because the Biden administration is not only trying to extradite
him to stand trial on espionage charges for having published documents
embarrassing to the U.S. Government and the Democratic Party but also
has appealed a British judge’s January ruling rejecting that extradition request. The Biden administration is doing all of this, notedThe New York Times,
despite the fact that “human rights and civil liberties groups had
asked the [administration] to abandon the effort to prosecute Mr.
Assange, arguing that the case . . . could establish a precedent posing a grave threat to press freedoms” — press freedoms, exactly the value which Blinken just righteously spent the week celebrating and vowing to uphold.
It was the Trump DOJ which brought those charges against Assange after then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo claimed
in a 2017 speech that WikiLeaks has long “pretended that America’s
First Amendment freedoms shield them from justice,” and then warned:
“they may have believed that, but they are wrong.” Pomepo added —
invoking the mentality of all states that persecute and imprison those
who report effectively on them — that “to give [WikiLeaks] the space to
crush us with misappropriated secrets is a perversion of what our great
Constitution stands for. It ends now.”
But like so many other Trump policies concerning press freedoms — from defending the Trump DOJ’s use of warrants to obtain journalists’ telephone records, to demanding
Edward Snowden be kept in exile, to keeping Reality Winner and Daniel
Hale imprisoned — top Biden officials have long been fully on board with
Assange’s persecution. Indeed, they have been at the forefront of the
effort to destroy basic press freedoms not just for WikiLeaks but
journalists generally.
It was Joe Biden who called Assange a “high-tech terrorist” in 2010. It was the Obama administration that convened a years-long grand jury to try to prosecute Assange. It was Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) who urged
Assange’s prosecution under the Espionage Act years before Trump was in
office. And it was Blinken’s colleague on the Obama national security
team, Hillary Clinton, who praised the DOJ for its prosecution of Assange. All of this was intended as punishment for Assange’s revelations of rampant wrongdoing by the U.S. Government and its allies and adversary governments around the world.

How can you run around the world feigning anger over other countries’
persecution of independent journalists when you are a key part of the
administration that is doing more than anyone to destroy one of the most
consequential independent journalists of the last several decades?
Indeed, as numerous journalists warned at the time, there were few, if
any, administrations in U.S. history more hostile to basic press
freedoms than the Obama administration in which Blinken previously
served, including prosecuting double the number of journalistic sources under espionage laws than all previous administrations combined.
In
2013, while Blinken was serving as a high-level official in the State
Department, the Committee to Protect Journalists did something very rare
— issued a report warning of an epidemic of press freedom attacks by the U.S. Government — and said: “In the Obama administration’s Washington, government officials are increasingly afraid to talk to the press.” The New Yorker‘s Jane Mayer said
of the Obama administration’s press freedom attacks: “It’s a huge
impediment to reporting, and so chilling isn’t quite strong enough, it’s
more like freezing the whole process into a standstill.” James Goodale,
the New York Times’ General Counselduring the paper’s battle in the 1970s to publish the Pentagon Papers, warned
that “President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the
worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom.”
Even the specific “press freedom attack” Blinken referenced in that video interview — namely, Russia’s recent demand
that media outlets linked to foreign governments such as Radio Free
Europe register as “foreign agents” with the Russian government and pay
fines for their failure to do so — is one which Blinken and his comrades
have wielded against others for years. Indeed, Russia was responding to
the U.S. Government’s previous demand that RT and other Russian news agencies register as “foreign agents” in the U.S., as well as the Biden administration’s escalated attacks just last month on news agencies it claims serves as propaganda agents for the Kremlin.
It
is hardly new for the U.S. to dole out lectures which the rest of the
world recognizes as complete farces. In 2015, then-President Obama was
prancing around India giving lectures on the importance of human rights,
only to cut short his trip
to fly to Saudi Arabia, where he met numerous top officials of the U.S.
Government to pay homage to Saudi King Abdullah, their long-time close
and highly repressive ally whose totalitarian regime Obama did so much to fortify.
But
galavanting around the world masquerading as the champion of press
freedoms and the rights of independent journalists, all while working to
extend the confinement and detention of one of the people responsible
for much of the most important journalistic revelations of this
generation beyond the decade he has already endured, is a whole new
level of deceit. “Hypocrisy” is insufficient to capture the craven
insincerity behind Blinken’s posturing.
It
is always easy — and cheap — to condemn the human rights abuses of your
enemies. It is much harder — and more meaningful — to uphold those
principles for your own dissidents. Blinken, like so many who preceded
him in that Foggy Bottom office, theatrically excels at the former while
failing miserably at the latter.

infrastructuur, oorlogsmisdadiger Joe Biden geeft niet thuis, of zal
dat in de nabije toekomst niet doen…….
Hedges stelt dat Biden weet dat
zijn ‘American Jobs Plan’ een leugen is, het plan waarover hij zei dat deze miljoenen goed
betaalde banen zou opleveren, banen waarmee mensen hun gezinnen
kunnen grootbrengen, een leugen die hij niet waar wil en kan maken (veel
VS burgers hebben meerdere banen nodig om rond te kunnen komen,
althans als ze al twee of meer banen kunnen vinden….). Precies als
het door hem gesteunde NAFTA handelsakkoord geen miljoenen goed
betaalde banen heeft opgeleverd, noch dat zal doen in de
toekomst, aldus Hedges…….
Joe Bidens mantra ‘buy American’ is
waardeloos, daar hij weet dat de meeste elektronica, kleding, meubels
en industriële aanvoer in China worden gemaakt tegen lonen waarvoor
zelfs de zwaar onderbetaalde VS burgers in vergelijking nog meer krijgen betaald, aldus Hedges…….. (hoewel niet vergeten
moet worden dat het aantal arme mensen in China jaarlijks met hoge
percentages wordt verminderd, daarnaast zijn scholing en
gezondheidszorg gratis in dat land, uiteraard zijn ook de kosten voor
huisvesting niet te vergelijken met de torenhoge huren in de VS en de
rest van het westen)
Ook Bidens pleidooi voor het
verlagen van het eigen risico voor medicijnen en het verlagen van de
medicijnprijs, zijn gedoemd te mislukken daar de firma’s die
verdienen aan de gezondheidszorg dat niet toe zullen staan….. Deze
bedrijven hebben de Democraten in hun zak dit vanwege de enorme
bedragen die deze partij ontvangt van deze industrie en de lobbyisten
van deze industrie die in feite de wetten op dat gebied schrijven,
nooit zullen die bedrijven akkoord gaan met het aanpassen van
wetgeving waarmee ze eindelijk fatsoenlijk belasting zouden moeten
betalen over de enorme winsten die worden gemaakt……
Verder stelt Hedges dat Joe Bidens
subsidie en belastingvoordeel om de klimaatcrisis aan te pakken niet
zal werken, zo kan hij het fracken voor schalie-olie en gas niet
tegenhouden, noch kan Biden kolencentrales sluiten, noch de aanleg
van pijpleidingen over enorme gebieden voorkomen, waar deze
gegarandeerd zullen lekken en daarbij enorme milieuschade veroorzaken
dat blijkt uit elke aangelegde pijpleiding, uiteindelijk gaan ze
allemaal lekken; Hedges spreekt overigens over gaspijpleidingen,
echter die zijn nog heilig vergeleken met de oliepijpleidingen…..
Bidens beloften over hervormingen
zijn van nul en generlei waarde, zo stelt Hedges en hebben hetzelfde
gewicht als die beloften gedaan door Bill Clinton en Barack Obama,
presidenten die Biden ‘als een slaaf heeft bediend’ (mmmm…..),
beloften over sociale gelijkheid terwijl de de werkende mannen en
vrouwen werden verraden door deze Democratische presidenten………
Biden is de belichaming van de
lege, amorele figuren die worden geproduceerd door in feite het
(neoliberale) systeem van omkoping. Tijdens zijn lange carrière in
de politiek heeft hij de belangen van grote bedrijven behartigd,
speciaal die van credit cards bedrijven in Delaware, niet voor niets
dat hij sarcastisch Senator Credit Card werd genoemd…..
Biden is vooral goed in het beloven
van zaken die het volk graag hoort, om daarna dat volk te verkopen
(aan de grote bedrijven, Ap). Verder was hij een vooraanstaande
pleitbezorger en architect van een generatie aan federale ‘tough on
crime’ (hard tegen misdaad) wetten, die hebben geholpen om de politie
van de VS te militariseren en daarbij de ‘gevangenisbevolking’ heeft
verdubbeld en dat in het land met ‘s werelds grootste
gevangenissysteem…… Daarbij is Biden ook verantwoordelijk voor
strenge richtlijnen tot het berechten van mensen en wetgeving waarmee
zelfs niet gewelddadige drugsovertredingen (het op zak hebben van een
beetje marihuana) levenslange gevangenisstraffen hebben opgeleverd en
vergeet daarbij niet dat Biden al lang bekend stond als racist*,
niet vreemd dan ook dat vooral gekleurden het slachtoffer werden van
deze belachelijke strenge wetgeving, niet voor niets ook dat de
gekleurde minderheid onevenredig veel vastzit in de
gevangenis…….Witte overtreders van de strenge drugswetgeving
kregen daarbij meestal veel lagere straffen (en daarbij kampte de
zoon van Biden jarenlang met drugsverslaving, zonder lange tijd in de
gevangenis te belanden…..)
Biden is in feite ook de architect
van de PATRIOT Act die George W. Bush invoerde na de 9/11 aanslagen,
een wet waarmee de rechten van burgers geweld werd aangedaan,
intussen heeft hij al een Patriot Act 2.0, te weten Domestic
Terrorism Prevention Act (DTPA) klaar staan om de burger- en
mensenrechten nog meer geweld aan te doen, waarbij burgerrechten- en
milieuorganisaties, alsook dieren-activistische organisaties zullen
worden aangemerkt als terreurorganisaties….** Met
deze wetkan het straks bijvoorbeeld verboden worden te demonstreren
tegen politiegeweld…..
Kortom (en zoals al vaker op deze
plek gezegd) met Biden zal er niets veranderen, zeker als je ziet dat
hij iedere (illegale) oorlog van de VS heeft gesteund en ook achter
elk nieuw wapensysteem stond…… Biden heeft voor 2022 een budget
voor defensie (lees: oorlogsvoering) gevraagd van 715 miljard dollar
(in Engels: billion), dacht trouwens dat hij om 750 miljard had
gevraagd, maar zelfs die 715 miljard is een stijging met 11,3 miljard
op het budget van 2021…… Met dat budget kan de VS doorgaan met
haar onverantwoorde provocaties gericht tegen Rusland en China en
haar eindeloze illegale oorlogen o.a. in het Midden-Oosten en
Afrika…..
Hedges haalt ook de geschiedenis
aan, het verzet van arbeiders, kleine boeren en families die hun huis
werden uitgezet tijdens de ‘Great Depression’ (de grote depressie van
de 30er jaren) waar het verzet uiteindelijk leidde tot de New Deal,
waarover destijds president Roosevelt en een aantal oligarchen
begrepen (later in Roosevelts privécorrespondentie toegegeven) dat
deze New Deal nodig was daar een revolutie anders niet was tegen te
houden……. Hedges hoopt dan ook op het herbouwen van een
rechtvaardige en gezonde maatschappij, een maatschappij met positieve
sociale banden, deze kan worden bewerkstelligt als de zakelijke en
oligarchische controle over scholing, plus de politieke en
mediasystemen zal zijn opgeruimd….. De geschiedenis heeft uitvoerig
getoond hoe dit proces werkt, waarbij Hedges dit ziet als een spel
van angst. Tot we ze bang kunnen maken, waarbij een doodsbange Joe
Biden en de oligarchen die hij dient, uitkijken op een zee van
hooivorken en we zullen ons dan niet langer laten afstompen door de
cultuur van sadisme die zij hebben ontworpen (een gebrekkige
vertaling, ik weet het. Maar vergeet niet dat de situatie hier 100
keer beter is*** dan die in de VS, waar je zelfs
kankertherapie kan vergeten als je niet verzekerd bent en geen geld
hebt >> als er iets uiterst sadistisch is is het dat wel!!)
Hedges ziet een maatschappij waarin
sadisme een steeds grotere rol speelt, hij noemt diverse voorbeelden
en haalt ook geschiedkundige Johan Huizinga aan, die de ontbinding
van de Middeleeuwen gepaard zag gaan met het omarmen van
sadisme als een manier om om te kunnen gaan met de gewelddadigheid
van een onverschillig universum……. Niet langer gebonden aan het
algemeen doel, trekt een verscheurde maatschappij zich terug in een
cultus van ‘zichzelf…..’ (een ‘mooi voorbeeld’ zijn de laatste
dagen van het Derde Rijk [aan het eind van WOII]) Men viert het leven
van het moment (ook om te vergeten wat teloorgaat), daarbij wijst
Hedges o.a. naar de bedrijven op Wall Street, of de massacultuur
middels ‘reality tv shows’, waarbij hij de klassieke eigenschappen
van psychopaten noemt: kunstmatige charme, grootsheid en eigendunk
dat naast de behoefte aan een constante stimulatie; met het grootste
gemak glashard liegen (neem Rutte…), bedrog en manipulatie, dit
weer naast een totaal gebrek aan berouw of enig schuldgevoel…….
(neem de reguliere massamedia, liegen en bedriegen en zelfs als
e.e.a. uitkomt weigert men alsnog rectificaties te plaatsen, neem de
enorme berg leugens waarmee de illega oorlogen van de VS werden
‘gelegitimeerd…….’ Trouwens ik haalde Rutte al even aan, vergeet
dus bij het voorgaande vooral de politiek niet!!
Later haalt Hedges
Huizinga nogmaals aan met het volgende: het ontbinden van de middeleeuwse maatschappij heeft de ‘gewelddadige teneur’ van het
leven naar boven gehaald. Hedges ziet dat deze gewelddadige teneur in
de huidige tijd heeft geleid tot politiemoorden, het uit hun huis
zetten van mensen (!!), door de rechtbank uitgesproken
faillissementen, het onthouden van medische hulp aan zieke mensen,
terreuraanslagen waarbij men zichzelf suïcideert en massamoord
middels het schieten met vuurwapens in openbare gelegenheden, zoals
die in de VS bijna dagelijks plaatsvinden (al
zijn bij de meeste van deze ook terreuraanslagen meestal niet
meer dan 5 personen het slachtoffer) Al moet ik daar wel bij opmerken
dat veel aanslagen door islamitische extremisten zonder meer het
gevolg zijn van de grootschalige westerse terreur in islamitische
landen, landen waar het westen niets te zoeken heeft…… Jammer dat
Hedges geen aandacht heeft voor de omgang met
vluchtelingen, meestal op de vlucht geslagen voor westerse terreur,
dan wel door terreur die door het westen werd veroorzaakt….
Don’t Be Fooled By Joe Biden
What is
exceptional about America is its culture of sadism.

Clearing House” – – “ScheerPost“ – Don’t
be fooled by Joe Biden. He knows his infrastructure
and education bills have as much chance at becoming
law as the $15-dollar minimum wage or the $2,000
stimulus checks he promised us as a candidate.
He knows his American
Jobs Plan will never create “millions of good paying
jobs – jobs Americans can raise their families on”
any more than NAFTA, which he supported, would, as
was also promised, create millions of good paying
jobs.
His mantra of “buy
American” is worthless. He knows the vast majority
of our consumer electronics, apparel, furniture and
industrial supplies are made in China by workers who
earn an average of one or two dollars an hour and
lack unions and basic labor rights.
He knows his call to
lower deductibles and prescription drug costs in the
Affordable Care Act will never be permitted by the
corporations that profit from health care. He knows
the corporate donors that fund the Democratic Party
will ensure their lobbyists will continue to write
the laws that guarantee they pay little or no taxes.
He knows the corporate subsidies and tax incentives
he proposes as a solution to the climate crisis will
do nothing to halt oil and gas fracking, shut down
coal-fired plants or halt the construction of new
pipelines for gas-fired power plants.
His promises of reform
have no more weight than those peddled by Bill
Clinton and Barack Obama, who Biden slavishly served
and who also promised social equality while
betraying working men and women.
Biden is the epitome of
the empty, amoral creature produced by our system of
legalized bribery. His long political career in
Congress was defined by representing the interests
of big business, especially the credit card
companies based in Delaware. He was nicknamed
Senator Credit Card. He has always glibly told the
public what it wants to hear and then sold them out.
He was
a prominent promoter and architect of
a generation of federal “tough on crime” laws that
helped militarize the nation’s police and more than
doubled the population of the world’s largest prison
system with harsh mandatory sentencing guidelines
and laws that put people in prison for life for
nonviolent drug crimes, even as his son struggled
with addiction. He was a principal author of the
Patriot Act, which began the stripping away of our
most basic civil liberties. And there has never been
a weapons system, or a war, he did not support.
Nothing substantial
will change under Biden, despite the
hyperventilating about him being the next FDR.
Biden’s request for
$715 billion for the Defense Department in fiscal
year 2022, a $11.3 billion (1.6 percent) increase
over 2021, will support the disastrous military
provocations with China and Russia he embraces, the
endless wars in the Middle East and the bloated
defense industry.
Machinery of
Predatory Capitalism
Wholesale government
surveillance will not be curbed. Julian Assange will
remain a target. The industries that were shipped
overseas and the well-paying unionized jobs will not
return. The grinding machinery of predatory
capitalism, and the sadism that defines it, will
poison the society as mercilessly under Biden as it
did when Donald Trump was conducting his Twitter
presidency.
Sadism now defines
nearly every cultural, social and political
experience in the United States. It is expressed in
the greed of an oligarchic elite that has seen its
wealth increase during the pandemic by $1.1 trillion
while the country has suffered the sharpest rise in
its poverty rate in more than 50 years.
It is expressed in
extra-judicial killings by police in cities such as
Minneapolis. It is expressed in our complicity in
Israel’s wholesale killing of unarmed Palestinians,
the humanitarian crisis engendered by the war in
Yemen and our reigns of terror in Afghanistan, Iraq
and Syria. It is expressed in the torture in our
prisons and black sites. It is expressed in the
separation of children from their undocumented
parents, where they are held as if they were dogs in
a kennel.
The historian Johan
Huizinga, writing about the twilight of the Middle
Ages, argued that as things fall apart sadism is
embraced as a way to cope with the hostility of an
indifferent universe. No longer bound to a common
purpose, a ruptured society retreats into the cult
of the self. It celebrates, as do corporations on
Wall Street or mass culture through reality
television shows, the classic traits of psychopaths:
superficial charm, grandiosity and self-importance;
a need for constant stimulation; a penchant for
lying, deception and manipulation; and the
incapacity for remorse or guilt.
Get what you can, as
fast as you can, before someone else gets it. This
is the state of nature, the “war of all against
all,” Thomas Hobbes saw as the consequence of social
collapse, a world in which life becomes “solitary,
poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” And this sadism,
as Friedrich Nietzsche understood, fuels a
perverted, sadistic pleasure.
The only way out for
most Americans is to serve, as Biden does, the
sadistic machine. The impoverishment of the working
class has conditioned tens of millions of Americans
to accept being recruited into the service of the
militarized police that function as lethal armies of
internal occupation; a military that carries out
reigns of terror in foreign occupations;
intelligence agencies that torture in global black
sites; the government’s vast network of spying on
the citizenry; the theft of personal information by
credit agencies and digital media; the largest
prison system in the world; an immigration service
that hunts down people who have never committed a
crime and separates children from their parents to
pack them in warehouses; a court system that
condemns the poor to decades of incarceration, often
for nonviolent crimes, and denies them a jury trial;
companies that carry out the dirty work of
evictions, shutting off utilities, including water,
collecting usurious debts that force people into
bankruptcy and denying health services to those that
cannot pay; banks and payday lenders that burden the
destitute with predatory, high-interest loans; and a
financial system designed to keep most of the
country locked in a crippling debt peonage as the
wealth of the oligarchic elite swells to levels
unseen in American history.
These are some of the
few jobs that are well compensated. They bring with
them feelings of omnipotence, for the victims are
largely powerless. In service to the state or
corporations, employees can abuse, humiliate and
even kill with impunity, as the near daily murder of
unarmed civilians by the police illustrates. This
service to monolithic centers of power absolves
people of moral choice. It imparts a God-like
omnipotence.
What This
Sadism Looks Like
We know what this
sadism looks like. It looks like Derek Chauvin
nonchalantly choking to death George Floyd**** as his
police colleagues watch impassively. It looks like
Andrew Brown Jr. shot five times by police in North
Carolina, including once in the back of the head. It
looks like Abner Louima, who had a broomstick pushed
up his rectum by police in a bathroom at the 70th
Precinct station house in Brooklyn, requiring three
major operations to repair the internal injuries.
It looks like Navy Seal
Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher randomly
shooting to death unarmed civilians and using a
hunting knife to repeatedly stab to death an
injured, sedated 17-year-old Iraqi prisoner and then
photographing himself with the corpse. It looks like
Iraqi civilians, few of whom had anything to do with
the insurgency, naked, bound, beaten and sexually
humiliated and raped, and at times murdered, by army
guards and private contractors in Abu Ghraib.
Prisoners in Abu Ghraib
were routinely dragged across the prison floor by a
rope tied to their penises and chemical lights were
used to sodomize them or snapped open so the
phosphoric liquid could be poured over their naked
bodies. It looks like women who are tortured,
beaten, degraded and sexually violated, often by
numerous men, in porn films, who are then discarded
after a few weeks or months with severe trauma,
along with sexually transmitted diseases and vaginal
and anal tears that must be repaired surgically.
Sadistic societies
condemn segments of the population – in America
these are poor Blacks, Muslims, the undocumented,
the LGBTQ community, radical anti-capitalists,
intellectuals – as human refuse. They are viewed as
social contaminants. Laws, institutions and
bureaucratic structures are built in sadistic
societies that function, in the words of Max Weber,
as an “inanimate machine.”
The machine forces most
people into the mass, but it allows some willing to
do its dirty work to rise above the multitude. Those
who carry out the sadism on behalf of the power
elite fear being pushed back into the mass. For this
reason, they energetically carry out the
degradation, cruelty and sadism the machine demands.
The more they insult, persecute, torture, humiliate
and kill, the more they seem to magically widen the
divide between themselves and their victims. This
is why Black police and corrections officers can be
as cruel, and sometimes crueler, than their white
counterparts.
The sadism eradicates,
at least momentarily, the sadist’s feelings of
worthlessness, vulnerability and susceptibility to
pain and death. It imparts pleasure.
I was beaten by Saudi
military police and later by Saddam Hussein’s secret
police when I was taken prisoner after the first
Gulf War. The goons carrying out my beatings clearly
enjoyed them.
Israel’s abuse of the
Palestinians, the assaults on Muslims and girls and
women in India and the denigration of Muslims in the
countries we occupy are part of a global breakdown
that extends beyond the United States.
Wilhelm Reich in “The
Mass Psychology of Fascism” and Klaus Theweleit in
“Male Fantasies” argue that sadism, along with a
grotesque hyper-masculinity, rather than any
coherent belief system, is the core of fascism,
although communist regimes in China and the Soviet
Union could be as murderous and sadistic as their
fascist counterparts.
Jean Amery, who was in
the Belgian resistance in World War II and who was
captured and tortured by the Gestapo in 1943,
defines sadism “as the radical negation of the
other, the simultaneous denial of both the social
principle and the reality principle. In the sadist’s
world, torture, destruction, and death are
triumphant: and such a world clearly has no hope of
survival. On the contrary, he desires to transcend
the world, to achieve total sovereignty by negating
fellow human beings – which he sees as representing
a particular kind of ‘hell.’”
Collective
Self-Destruction
Amery’s point is
important. A sadistic society is about collective
self-destruction. It is the apotheosis of a society
deformed by overwhelming experiences of loss,
alienation and stasis. The only way left to affirm
yourself in failed societies is to destroy.
Johan Huizinga in his
book “Waning of the Middle Ages” noted that that the
dissolution of medieval society provoked “the
violent tenor of life.” Today, this “violent tenor
of life” drives people to carry out police murders,
evictions of families, court-ordered bankruptcies,
the denial of medical care to the sick, suicide
bombings and mass shootings.
As the sociologist Emil
Durkheim understood, those who seek the annihilation
of others are driven by desires for
self-annihilation. Sadism imparts the rush and
pleasure, often with heavy sexual overtones, which
lures us towards what Sigmund Freud called the death
instinct, the instinct to destroy all forms of life,
including our own. When enveloped by a
death-saturated world, death, ironically, is
embraced as the cure.
Corporate capitalism,
which has perverted the values of American society
to commodify its every aspect, including human
beings and the natural world, insists that the
dictates of the market should govern our existence,
a belief infused with sadism. It is about the
pleasure derived from exploiting others, as
Frederick Nietzsche wrote in On the Genealogy of
Morals:
“[T]he creditor is
given a kind of pleasure as repayment and
compensation – the pleasure of being allowed to
discharge his power on a powerless person … the
delight in ‘de fair le mal pour le plaisir
de le faire’ [doing wrong for the pleasure
of it], the enjoyment of violation. This
enjoyment is more highly prized the lower and
baser the debtor stands in the social order, and
it can easily seem to the creditor a delicious
mouthful, even a foretaste of a higher rank. By
means of the ‘punishment’ of the debtor, the
creditor participates in a right belonging to
the masters. … The compensation thus consist of
a permission for and right to cruelty.”
Enron energy traders,
in a dialogue that could have come from any large
corporation, were caught on tape in 2000 discussing
“stealing” from California, sticking it to “Grandma
Millie.” Two traders, identified as Kevin and Bob,
dismissed demands by California regulators for
refunds because of the company’s constant
price-gouging.
“Kevin: So the
rumor’s true? They’re fucking takin’ all the
money back from you guys? All those money you
guys stole from those poor grandmothers in
California?
Bob: Yeah, Grandma
Millie, man. But she’s the one who couldn’t
figure out how to fucking vote on the butterfly
ballot.
Kevin: Yeah, now
she wants her fucking money back for all the
power you’ve charged for fucking $250 a megawatt
hour.
Bob: You know – you
know – you know, Grandma Millie, she’s the one
that Al Gore’s fightin’ for, you know?
Later in the same
conversation, Kevin and Bob denigrate
Californians.
Kevin: Oh, best
thing that could happen is fucking an
earthquake, let that thing float out to the
Pacific and put ’em fucking candles.
Bob: I know. Those
guys – just cut ’em off.
Kevin: They’re so
fucked and they’re so like totally – –
Bob: They are so
fucked.”
We will not extract
ourselves from predatory capitalism and its culture
of sadism with meager government handouts. We will
not extract ourselves because Biden’s slick speech
writers and public relations specialists, who use
polls and focus groups to feed back to us what we
want to hear, can make us feel the administration is
on our side. There is no good will in the Biden
White House, the Congress, the courts, the media —
which has become an echo chamber of the privileged
classes — or corporate boardrooms. They are the
enemy.
We will extract
ourselves from this culture of sadism the way the
dispossessed extracted themselves from the
stranglehold of crony capitalism during the Great
Depression, by organizing, protesting and disrupting
the system until the ruling elites are forced to
grant a measure of social and economic justice.
The Bonus Army, World
War I veterans who had been denied pension payments,
set up huge encampments in Washington, which were
violently dispersed by the army. Neighborhood
groups, many of them members of the Wobblies or the
Communist Party, in the 1930s physically prevented
sheriff departments from evicting families.
In 1936 and 1937, the
United Auto Workers union carried out a sit-down
strike inside factories that crippled General
Motors, forcing the company to recognize the union,
raise wages and meet union demands for job
protection and safe working conditions. It was one
of the most important labor victories in American
history and led to the entire automobile industry in
the United States becoming unionized.
Farmers, forced into
bankruptcy and foreclosures by the big banks and
Wall Street, founded the Farmer’s Holiday
Association to protest the seizure of family farms,
one of the reasons bank robbers such as John
Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde and the Barker Gang were
folk heroes. The farmers blocked roads and destroyed
mountains of farm products, reducing supply and
raising prices.
The farmers, like
unionized auto workers, endured widespread
government surveillance and violent attacks from the
FBI, company goons, hired gun thugs, militias and
sheriff’s departments. But the militancy worked. The
farmers forced the state to accept a de facto
moratorium on farm foreclosures. Mass demonstrations
outside state capitals at the same time pressured
state legislatures to block the collection of
overdue mortgage payments.
Tenant farmers and
sharecroppers in the south unionized. The Department
of Labor called their collective action a “miniature
civil war.” The unemployed and the hungry throughout
the country squatted in vacant homes and on vacant
land forming shantytowns that were known as
Hoovervilles. The destitute took over public
buildings and public utilities. This constant
pressure, not the good will of FDR, created the New
Deal. He and his fellow oligarchs eventually
understood that
if there was not reform there would be revolution,
something Roosevelt acknowledged in his private
correspondence.
It is not until people
are reintegrated into the society, not until
corporate and oligarchic control over our
educational, political and media systems are
removed, not until we recover the ethic of the
common good, that we have any hope of rebuilding the
positive social bonds that foster a healthy society.
History has amply illustrated how this process
works. It is a game of fear. And until we make them

Caitlin Johnstone heeft een prachtig kort artikel geschreven: ze schetst de wereld waarin een domme fout leidt tot een totale nucleaire oorlog….. De dag waarop de menselijke onverschilligheid t.a.v. het enorme aantal (ook nieuwe) kernwapens zal worden geconfronteerd met de gevolgen van die decennialange onverschilligheid…… Zoals al vaker op deze plek betoogd: hoe is het mogelijk dat we in 1981 en 1983 massaal de straat opgingen om te demonstreren tegen kernwapens waarmee we de aarde tig keer konden oplazen, terwijl het gevaar nu veel groter is en de kernwapens nog ‘functioneler’ zijn gemaakt……
Het voorgaande geldt nog meer als je bedenkt dat de VS in 2016 als eerste heeft gezegd het gebruik van kernwapens als mogelijkheid te zien voor gebruik bij een eerste aanval, zonder dat de ‘vijand’ deze heeft ingezet, terwijl tot op dat moment het kernwapen werd gezien als afschrikkingswapen >> als jullie kernwapens inzetten zullen wij terugslaan…… Moet je nagaan dit was ondenkbaar in de 80er jaren, ten tijde van de grote demonstraties in Nederland en elders…… Zoals je aan het jaartal al kon zien, viel dat besluit al onder Obama, je weet wel de winnaar van de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede……
Na de VS besloot ook Groot-Brittannië onder hare kwaadaardigheid May zich het recht voor te behouden om als eerste kernwapens in te zetten, amper ophef in de media, maar toen Putin een paar maanden later hetzelfde aankondigde voor Rusland waren de rapen bij de westerse politiek en media gaar, men stond op de kop en vroeg zich af waar Putin het gore lef vandaan haalde……. Uiteraard had men toen de VS dit aankondigde al massaal op de kop moeten staan en in enorme massa’s moeten demonstreren, maar nee, ach het is weer eens wat anders, het westen dat als eerste kernwapens inzet (terwijl de VS dat NB al had gedaan op Hiroshima en Nagasaki in 1945, met 2 verschillend soortige atoomwapens om te kunnen onderzoeken wat de gevolgen waren…..)….. Overigens volkomen onnodig, dit afwerpen van deze 2 atoombommen, Japan was in feite al verslagen, zoals later een paar generaals uit de VS bevestigden…….. En onderzocht heeft de VS deze immense oorlogsmisdaden en misdaden tegen de menselijkheid……

The
day the world ended began like any other day. People woke up, had their
coffee, checked their social media, kissed their loved ones, went to
work.
Nobody
knew it was coming. The news reporters and pundits hadn’t been
informing them that the US and its allies had been simultaneously
ramping up aggressions against two nuclear-armed nations in a way that
could easily lead to something going catastrophically wrong, or
explained to them what this could mean for them and their loved ones.
The mass media had never let the truth interfere with the military
agendas of their government before, and, as it turns out, they never
would.
Nobody
knew it was coming, so nobody opposed the dangerous acts of
brinkmanship that led up to it. Nobody resisted as the Democrats
manufactured consent for escalation after escalation against Russia.
Nobody resisted as the Republicans manufactured consent for escalation
after escalation against China. Nobody objected as war ships were moved,
as troops were deployed, as Nuclear Posture Reviews became more and
more hawkish and aggressive, as new armageddon weapons were manufactured
and fielded, as proxy conflicts were backed, as war planes encroached
upon sovereign airspace, as missiles were readied for swift deployment.
So it simply did not feature in anyone’s mind that this could be the day they and their loved ones die in a nuclear holocaust.
They
just went about their day, like it was any other day. Working, texting,
thinking pointless thoughts, arguing about nonsense with strangers on
the internet.
Then
it happened. A nuclear weapon was deployed by one side, setting off a
chain reaction that had been set in place ready to be triggered long
ago, from which there was no coming back.
And
the funny thing is, it was an accident. Just a stupid, innocent
mistake. One of the thousands of people responsible for the operation of
those horrific weapons got a little careless with their part in the
day-to-day management of the imperfect technology used in an
international nuclear standoff that had become increasingly tense and
confusing amid rapidly rising cold war chaos.
That’s all it took. Nothing grand or dramatic. Just a bad decision, made at the wrong time.
One minute it seemed fine. The next minute it was the end. The end of everything.
Nothing
rearranges your mental priorities like looking outside and seeing a
mushroom cloud growing on the horizon. Suddenly your particular
political ideology doesn’t feel so significant anymore. Your personal
beef with your coworker loses its importance. That heated argument you
were having online slips forgotten from your mind. In fact, nearly
everything you’d spent your mental mental energy on that day up until
that point feels like a ridiculous, pathetic joke.
There
was fear of course. Panic of course. People ran. People hid. But the
realization spread very quickly that there was no escaping this one.
That this was the end.
And,
in that brief moment of helpless surrender to the inevitable, humanity
was the most awake it’s ever been. The most tuned in. The most
compassionate. The most loving. The most united. If there’d been anyone
outside of it to witness it, the beauty of our species in that moment
would have taken their breath away.
The
earth shook. The flames spread. Black carbon was hurled into the
stratosphere for decades. All the earth’s creatures perished in the
darkness and radiation.
And then it was all still. Still and silent.
It
was a mistake. A stupid, silly mistake, just like all the other stupid
silly mistakes we’ve made since the moment we first stood upright. It’s
just that this mistake was our last one.
The
only difference between our final mistake and all the innumerable
others which preceded it was that there was nobody left to fix this one.
To try and course correct. To say “Ah, I see where you went wrong
there, let’s make some adjustments and try a different approach.”
No
one left to recognize the mistake, to grow as a result of that
recognition, and to rise above it. No one left to realize how
staggeringly insane it was to flirt with the end of the world for the
sake of power, how arrogant it was to think that we could remain in
perfect control of all those weapons for decades on end without
something going wrong amid our reckless games of nuclear chicken.
No
one left to realize there’s no good reason we need to live in a world
where governments brandish such weapons at each other just because a few
sociopaths decided that US unipolar domination needs to be preserved at
all cost. No one left to realize we could all just lay down our weapons
and get along with each other, and begin collaborating with each other
toward a peaceful and harmonious world.
It would be so, so wonderful if that had happened. But it didn’t. And now it’s all gone.

Paul Street heeft op CounterPunch
een artikel geschreven over het proces tegen politiemoordenaar Derek
Chauvin, die George Floyd in 9 minuten tijd vermoordde. Street stelt
(terecht) dat dit voor de meeste witte VS burgers het teken is dat
agenten die burgers vermoorden strafrechtelijk worden vervolgd,
terwijl het overgrote deel van agenten die zich hieraan hebben
beschuldigd, als ze al vervolgd worden, ervan afkomt met vrijspraak dan wel een belachelijk korte
straf…… Hij vergelijkt e.e.a. met het presidentschap van Obama
wat door het overgrote deel van de witte bevolking werd gezien als
het bewijs dat er geen discriminatie en vervolging van gekleurden
meer plaatsvond in de VS (en dat de gekleurde bevolking zelf de
schuld was van etnisch moorden), terwijl ook tijdens diens bewind een
groot aantal gekleurden, zelfs zonder enige aanleiding, werden
vermoord door de grotendeels fascistische politie van de VS……
Street haalt in zijn artikel ook de illegale oorlog aan die de VS tegen
Irak begon (een oorlog die de VS in feite nog steeds voert) en dat was zoals we allemaal kunnen weten totaal gebaseerd op leugens,
er werd geen massavernietigingswapen gevonden na de illegale en
terroristische aanval van de VS op Irak en de leugen dat Irak betrokken zou
zijn bij de door Al Qaida uitgevoerde aanvallen op de Twin Towers
(9/11*), was en is al helemaal van een gehalte waar je
kotsmisselijk van wordt: Saddam Hoessein was een vijand van Al
Qaida….. Ondanks dat houdt een groot deel van de reguliere westerse
media deze leugens levend en worden ze nog steeds herhaald, zodat het
volk niet in opstand komt…. Al zou dat dan moeten zijn gebeurd na deze aanval
die uitmondde in een vreselijke massamoord en vernietiging van
infrastructuur, huizen en bedrijfsgebouwen, men zou de grote lobbyist
voor de wapenindustrie George W. Bush uit zijn ambt hebben gezet (waar grote
bedrijven uit de VS bakken geld verdienden met het herstellen van de
aangerichte schade veroorzaakt door de VS en een aantal van haar
NAVO-partners, waaronder Nederland….) Nog een kleine toevoeging: in die oorlog zijn onevenredig veel jonge gekleurde VS militairen gesneuveld, niet vreemd als je ziet dat voor veel van deze jongeren uit arme gezinnen het leger de enige mogelijkheid is om een vak te leren…….
Street vraagt zich af of het goed
is geweest dat het proces tegen Chauvin van minuut tot minuut werd
gevolgd door de media, met veel aandacht voor de sociopathische
verdediging van Chauvin, die stelde dat George Floyd een
drugsverslaafde was en dat hij daaraan en aan een onderliggende
ziekte overleed, terwijl iedereen heeft kunnen zien hoe de
fascistische agent Chauvin hem in 9.5 minuut tijd vermoordde……
Street stelt dan ook dat deze media-aandacht overdreven en
traumatiserend is, niet alleen voor Floyds familie en vrienden, maar
voor de hele gekleurde gemeenschap in de VS die onevenredig zo vaak
het slachtoffer is van ongefundeerd en wettelijk ongeoorloofd
politiegeweld…….. Hiervoor haalt Street het voorbeeld aan van de
racistische oorlog tegen drugs die de gekleurde bevolking onevenredig
hard heeft getroffen en die de (particuliere en federale)
gevangenissen (alweer) onevenredig deed vollopen met gekleurden (die
nog steeds een minderheid vormen in de VS…..)
Het is volgens Steel niet eens zo
van belang dat de zaak tegen Chauvin de aandacht heeft doen
verslappen over de brede en diep gewortelde brute onderdrukking en
ongelijkheid in de VS, een systeem met racistische massa
gevangenschap, het racistische aanmerken van gekleurden als
misdadigers en de bijna routinematige racistische vermoorden van
gekleurde burgers door witte politieagenten……. Daarbij haalt hij
een paar van de vele moorden aan die alweer sinds George Floyd door
politiekogels werden geveld, zoals de 13 jarige Adam Toledo, die NB
met de handen in de lucht werd vermoord en de politiemoord op Daunte
Wright, op enkele kilometers van de rechtbank waar Chauvin
terechtstond (de ‘bewuste’ agent zou zich vergist hebben in het
wapen, een pistool i.p.v. taser……)
Nee het gaat veel dieper en
daarvoor haalt Street de geschreven woorden aan van anti-fascist
activist Jay Becker aan, die stelt dat mensen die de andere
rechtszaken tegen politiemoordenaars niet hebben gevolgd (voor de
enkele processen die werden gevoerd), maar wel die tegen Chauvin
zullen denken dat die vervolging typisch is, terwijl dit allesbehalve
zo is. Volgens Becker is dit proces (tegen Chauvin) ongekend, een
teken en bewijs van de diepe angst voor de opstand tegen de witte
overheersing van gekleurden vorig jaar zomer en dat deze zich heeft
genesteld in elke politiedienst en in het groot bij alle (witte)
machthebbers in de VS. De angst voor de demonstraties waaraan
tientallen miljoenen VS burgers hebben deelgenomen, de angst dat de
gekleurde bevolking een machtsfactor is geworden waar men rekening
mee dient te houden…….
Steel gaat dieper in op de raciale,
fascistische politiemoorden op gekleurden in de VS en stelt dat de
moord op George Floyd een soort kentering is daar men zich niet kon
beroepen op in het heetst van de strijd te snel genomen beslissing,
zoals men al zo vaak heeft gedaan en waarop de moordenaar van Daunte
Wright zich in feite ook beroept, je weet wel de taser pistool
‘vergissing…..’ Een kentering die eindelijk wordt ingezet >>
eindelijk na de slavernij en de vele racistische wetten die dit
gestolen land kende na de burgeroorlog en het enorme aantal met
racistisch geweld vermoorde gekleurden sinds die tijd……
De media scheppen met hun
berichtgeving over de zaak tegen Chauvin de illusie aldus Street dat
het de overheid ernst is als het gaat om sociale en raciale
gelijkheid en gerechtigheid, plus het disciplineren van de totale politiemacht die
zich te buiten gaat aan ongebreidelde geweld tegen gekleurden….. Waarbij
je niet moet vergeten dat die politiemacht zwaar gemilitariseerd is
en dat dit samen met de algehele controle van het volk, zelfs door
geheime diensten, de VS heeft omgevormd tot een politiestaat en reken
maar niet dat men deze macht zo maar uit handen zal geven……. Uiteraard
is dat bekend bij de massamedia in de VS, echter de superwelgestelde
eigenaars van die media vinden dat allemaal prima, sterker nog zij
steunen die politiek zelfs en betalen daarvoor zowel de Democratische
als Republikeinse partij, kortom zij willen niet dat daar zware
kritiek op wordt geleverd in hun mediaorganen…… (vandaar ook de
roep uit die media om censuur op de sociale media, daar die steeds
meer mensen bedient met echt nieuws, dat is overigens ook in ons land
het geval; voor die censuur haalt men dan overduidelijke voorbeelden
aan van flauwe kul nieuws, alsof dat de gehele berichtgeving op de
sociale media beslaat, wat uiteraard niet het geval is)
Chauvin is opgeofferd voor het
behouden van een verraderlijk regime van raciale onderdrukking, die
zelden de ergste overtreders van raciaal geweld straft….. Denk
daarbij ook aan het feit dat zo te zien de Biden administratie niets
wenst te ondernemen tegen het tegenhouden van gekleurde burgers die
willen stemmen, immers de Democraten hebben nu een meerderheid in de
beide huizen van het congres**, terwijl op staatsniveau door
Republikeinen wetten worden aangenomen die het gekleurden moeilijk
moet maken om te kunnen stemmen…… Waarschijnlijk zijn de
Democraten zo opportunistisch dat ze zich kunnen voorstellen dat ook
zij te zijner tijd wellicht voordeel hebben bij deze smerige
ondemocratische wetgevingen…….
Street stelt voor zijn laatste zin
van dit artikel dat je bij wijze van spreken de witte aanhang van
Trump (‘Trumpenvolk’) al hoort mompelen dat juist zij het slachtoffer
zijn geworden van racisme door de berechting van Chauvin en hij ziet
die aanhang niet zoals zo vaak voorgesteld als alleen de arme witte
bevolking, de aanhang van Trump is volgens hem veel breder….. Wel ziet Street de witte niet of slecht opgeleide massa, met de
waanzinnige wapenwetgeving in de meeste staten, als een gevaar voor
nog veel meer grootschalige schietpartijen, zoals onlangs op en
aantal Aziatische vrouwen, juist door de voorgespiegelde illusie dat
de regering meer oog heeft voor de gekleurde bevolking dan voor hen
>> brandstof voor raciaal geweld……
Er zal een grote en veel meer
langdurige opstand nodig zijn dan in het geval van de moord op George
Floyd om e.e.a. te overwinnen, inclusief de imperialistische klasse
dictatuur, bewaakt en bewaard door de gemilitariseerde
politiestaat….. (stel je maar voor wat een strijd dat zal zijn…..)

aantal gevallen gebrekkig, mijn excuus daarvoor)
Since most U.S.-Americans know little about social and political
reality beyond their own limited experience and bubbles, powerfully
deceptive narratives and images disseminated by the corporate media
easily distort public perceptions.
The election and presidency of Barack Obama fed the dangerous
illusion that racism no longer posed barriers to Black advancement and
equality in the United States and that the only such barriers left were
internal to Black people themselves.
The constantly repeated lies claiming that Iraq possessed weapons of
mass destruction and was linked to al Qaeda and the 9/11 jetliner
attackers permitted the messianic dry-drunk militarist George W. Bush to
undertake the monumentally criminal and mass-murderous,
petro-imperialist invasion of Iraq without being forced from office in a
giant popular uprising – and to get absurdly re-elected.
Even progressive thinkers who ought to know better simply cannot
shake the idiotic claim advanced from the start by corporate media that
Donald Trump’s political base was and is the (white) “working-class.” No
amount of actual data showing the falsity of this belief seems to dent
this religious belief among white male middle-aged and senior
progressives I hear from.
Now we have the Dererk Chauvin trial. Is it a good thing that cable
news has been broadcasting this dreadful proceeding from gavel to gavel,
offering endless microscopic forensic coverage of the prosecution and
defense of George Floyd’s racist cop murderer?
Not so much. It isn’t just that any fool can see that Chauvin lynched
Floyd in cold blood and that it is distressing to watch Chauvin’s
lawyer present the clearly videotaped 9 ½ minute asphyxiation of Floyd
as if it were merely an incidental co-morbidity alongside Floyd’s
supposedly drug- and disease-induced death. The defense strategy is
smart but absurd and sociopathic. It not-so subtly channels the vicious
racist, mass-carceral War on Drugs at its core, appropriately enough.
Having to hear about Floyd’s murder and Chauvin’s sickening defense over
and over is re-traumatizing.
It’s not even that the obsessive focus on one case has diverted
attention from the nation’s broad and deep system of brutal racial
oppression and inequality – a system replete with racist mass
incarceration, racist felony branding, and the almost routine murder and
maiming of Black and brown people by white cops (numerous victims since the Chauvin trial began include Daunte Wright, just outside Minneapolis, and Adam Toledo, a 13-year old shot with his hands in the air in Chicago!).
No, it’s even worse. “Another deep problem here,” the Chicago anti-fascist activist Jay Becker writes, “is
that people who haven’t followed other ‘trials’ of cops who kill (the
few there have been) will think that Chauvin’s prosecution is typical
when it is anything but. The chief of police testifying against him?
Prosecutors actually prosecuting? Nope, it’s really quite unprecedented
and evidence of the deep, deep fear that last summer’s rising against
white supremacy has instilled in all law enforcement and the powers that
be at large.”
Indeed. The danger here is that knowledge-starved Americans and
whites especially will think this case is characteristic of how racist
cops are usually treated when they kill and cripple Black and brown
people. Nothing could be further from the truth.
There have been some few partly or fully successful prosecutions of
killer white cops whose crimes were just too egregious, too clearly
caught on tape, and too notorious to successfully defend within
courtrooms and the court of public opinion. Chicago cop Jason Van Dyke’s
vicious 16-shot killing of the Black teenager Laquan McDonald (October
2014) and North Charleston, North Carolina cop Michael Slager’s sadistic
murder of Walter Scott (April 2015) come to mind. But such prosecutions
and convictions are remarkably rare (and Van Dyke got off with an
absurdly short sentence). Most killer cops (like the murderers of
Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, and many more) go free. And
there’s never been anything remotely like the Chauvin trial, with the
chief of the Minneapolis police weighing in as part of a full-throated,
expensive prosecution covered day after day on multiple cable channels
with key trial moments regularly reported on national and local nightly
news stations.
What’s it all about? Among the hundreds (if not thousands) of
incidents in which white cops have killed Black Americans, the murder of
George Floyd was distinctive in two key and related ways. First, it’s
not just that it was caught on tape by a citizen (as were the killings
of Walter Scott ad Eric Garner), but that it was a prolonged and
deliberate lynching of a prone “suspect” that could not possibly be
defended as a “split-second action made in the heat of action” (the
standard defense used in countless cases, certain to be used by Daunte
Wright’s recent killer, the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota officer Kim
Potter). Second, it provoked the largest single protest wave in
U.S.-American history, putting tens of millions of Americans in the
streets behind calls not merely for improved police conduct but also for
the dismantlement of the nation’s giant, globally unmatched racist mass
arrest and incarceration state – a monstrous criminal injustice system
that traces back to the nation’s unresolved legacies of Black chattel
slavery, Jim Crow terrorism, hyper-segregating ghettoization, and racial
fascism.
So the media here is stepping up to create an illusion: a government
passionately committed to social and racial justice and to the
disciplining of its gendarmes when they go too far. Chauvin is the
sacrificial lamb for the preservation an insidious regime of racial
oppression that rarely punishes its worst on-the-ground perpetrators.
One can already hear the paranoid-style murmurings of the absurdly
aggrieved white-Amerikaner Trumpenvolk – the deranged white nationalists
who pathetically claim to be the real racial victims of the nation’s
supposedly “radical Left” and “PC” politics, government, and media. They
are taking the media’s extreme Floyd-Chauvin coverage as proof that
“Anglo Saxon” Caucasians are the true wounded party. It’s more fuel for
future white male mass shootings enabled by an insane gun culture that
itself provides indispensable justification for the nation’s militarized
police state.
It will take a prolonged people’s uprising, bigger than the George
Floyd Rebellion to defeat all this and the imperialist class
dictatorship that lay behind it at the end of the day.

label ‘BLM’ staat voor Black Lives Matter en geeft toegang tot meer
berichten over de verontwaardiging en protesten van de gekleurde
bevolking over het feit dat het overgrote deel van de politieagenten in
de VS racistisch (ofwel: fascistisch) is en gekleurden per definitie
als ‘misdadig ziet’, waarbij ‘het leven van een
gekleurde verwaarloosbaar is……’

Nog steeds ongelofelijk hoeveel mensen dachten dat Joe Biden het verschil zou maken na het beest Trump, daarbij vergetend dat hij een uiterst misdadig verleden met zich meetorst: oorlogsmisdadiger, couppleger, lobbyist voor de wapenindustrie in de breedste zin van het woord en om niet te vergeten een bewezen racist…..
Biden beloofde zijn Democratische aanhangers dat hij de repressieve vluchtelingenpolitiek van Trump achter zich zou laten (tja hoe je dat kan geloven terwijl hij onder Obama als vicepresident medeverantwoordelijk was voor het detineren van vluchtelingen en ook toen al kinderen van vluchtelingen liet afnemen om hen elders onder te brengen (een ernstige schending van het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag) >> ja ja, dat was een uitvinding van de Obama administratie en niet van Trump (Tyramp)!! Biden beloofde de progressieve aanhangers van de Democraten dat hij dit jaar 62.500 vluchtelingen zou toelaten (in totaal al niet veel en vergeet daarbij bovendien niet dat het gaat om mensen die op de vlucht zijn geslagen voor direct of indirect geweld van de VS [en NAVO] in hun thuisland…..)
Maar nee, superschoft Biden heeft de belofte die hij ook al voorafgaand aan de verkiezingen deed laten verdwijnen in het ‘grote archief’ (de prullenbak) en houdt nu hetzelfde aantal aan dat Trump toeliet: 15.000 per jaar…….
Diverse mensenrechten- en vluchtelingenorganisaties zijn daarop stevig hun dak uitgegaan en spreken schande van deze ommezwaai (nogmaals: al hadden ze dat kunnen weten). Echter hun woede is volledig te begrijpen, zeker als je ziet dat er 35.000 vluchtelingen zijn die alle procedures hebben doorlopen en wachten op toelating, plus nog eens 100.000 van wie sommigen al jaren wachten om toegelaten te worden tot de selecties………
Hoe inhumaan kan je zijn??!!! Ach het geeft ten overvloede aan dat Biden totaal onbetrouwbaar is en dat geldt ook voor zijn buitenlandpolitiek, de schoft loopt plotseling overal vuur te stoken en niet op de minste plaatsen zoals voor de Russische grens en daarbij liegt hij dat het gedrukt staat en verwijt Rusland troepen samen te trekken voor de grens met Oekraïne* , terwijl de VS intussen Oekraïne met succes onder druk heeft gezet om Oost-Oekraïne te ‘pacificeren’ (ofwel om de steden en dorpen van de zich onafhankelijk achtende staatjes daar te bombarderen), waarbij hij Rusland ook nog eens verwijt De Krim te hebben geannexeerd, terwijl nu toch iedereen wel kan weten dat er geen sprake was van een annexatie hoe graag de VS en haar NAVO-partners dat ook wilden…..**
De bevolking van De Krim heeft volkomen terecht de kont tegen de krib gegooid toen na de door de VS georganiseerde opstand, de CIA de zwaar corrupte neonazi Porosjenko als juntaleider (‘president’) aanstelde, terwijl de door de bewoners van De Krim (ook de oorspronkelijke bewoners) democratisch gekozen president Janoekovytsj werd verjaagd…… Daarom besloten ze een referendum te houden en dat werd een massale keus voor aansluiting bij Rusland, ook massaal gesteund met de stemmen van de oorspronkelijke bewoners…… Het referendum werd door buitenlandse waarnemers als eerlijk en goed
verlopen beoordeeld, tot grote woede van het westen en de VS in het
bijzonder……
Het valt me nog mee dat Biden besloot uit Afghanistan te vertrekken, al moet je afwachten of dat ook echt zal gebeuren daar de geheime diensten en het Pentagon daar alleen al vanwege strategische overwegingen willen blijven…..
Voorlopig is de beslissing van Biden om maar 15.000 vluchtelingen toe te laten wel z’n schandelijkste bedrog tot op heden……. (wat hij Rusland durft aan te smeren is zo belachelijk dat het niet serieus is te nemen; zal daar binnenkort weer een bericht aan besteden, met een ‘mooie rol’ voor CDA leeghoofd en minister van Defensie Bijleveld, jezus wat een dwaas is dat!!) De International Rescue Committee (IRC), een internationale hulporganisatie, stelt zelfs dat wanneer de Biden administratie op deze manier doorgaat, Joe Biden gezien de geschiedenis de president zal zijn die het laagste aantal vluchtelingen zal hebben toegelaten…….

Reneging on his earlier promise to raise the refugee admissions cap to 62,500 this fiscal year, President Joe Biden on Friday signed a directive keeping in place the historically low 15,000-person limit imposed by the Trump administration—a decision that sparked furious backlash from human rights campaigners.
“This is utterly unacceptable and shameful,” wrote Stephen Miles, executive director of Win Without War. “The president should immediately reverse this decision.”
Joanne Lin, national director of advocacy and government relations at
Amnesty International USA, said in a statement that “Biden is turning
his back on tens of thousands of refugees around the world who have been
approved to come to the United States.”
While leaving the Trump-era cap in effect, Biden’s directive adjusts
allocation limits to “provide more slots for refugees from Africa, the
Middle East, and Central America and lift Trump’s restrictions on
resettlements from Somalia, Syria, and Yemen,” the Associated Pressreported.
“The Biden administration has given no explanation as to why the president has kept the refugee admissions cap,” the AP added.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC), a global humanitarian aid group, said
the president’s move “represents a disturbing and unjustified retreat
from the 62,500 level announced by the Biden administration in February,
that number itself a staging post en route to the campaign commitment
of 125,000 refugees.”
“With more than 35,000 refugees who have passed security clearances
and over 100,000 waiting in the pipeline for years to be reunited, a
refugee admissions goal of 15,000 leaves thousands of people in limbo
and in need of safety,” the group continued. “IRC has already warned
that at the current rate of admissions, President Biden is on track to
resettle the lowest number of refugees of any president in U.S. history,
all while U.S. communities, state and local governments, and
resettlement agencies are ready to welcome refugees.”
Facing a flood of outrage from lawmakers and advocacy groups, the White House issued a statement
later Friday announcing that Biden will “set a final, increased refugee
cap for the remainder of this fiscal year by May 15″—but indicated that
the president’s “initial goal of 62,500 seems unlikely.”
“As a candidate, Biden promised humanity and relief for refugees fleeing persecution,” the ACLU tweeted in response to the White House’s statement. “We will be watching to see if President Biden fulfills his promises.”
Biden’s directive Friday closely followed reports that the president was worried about the “political optics” of raising the refugee cap at a time when U.S.-Mexico border crossings are increasing, prompting xenophobic hysteria from the right.
An unnamed senior Biden administration official told the New York Times
Friday that the White House “grew concerned that the surge of border
crossings by unaccompanied minors was too much and had already
overwhelmed the refugee branch of the Department of Health and Human
Services.”
“But migrants at the border seeking
asylum are processed in an entirely separate system than refugees
fleeing persecution overseas,” the Times noted.
The National Immigration Forum echoed that point on Twitter, declaring, “Refugee resettlement has absolutely nothing to do with what’s going on at the border.”
“Refugee resettlement is not about about ‘optics’ or politics—it’s
about a commitment to protecting the most vulnerable,” the group added.
Biden’s directive came shortly after a group of more than 30 House Democrats sent a letter
Friday morning urging him to follow through on his February vow to
raise the refugee admissions cap to 62,500 this fiscal year. Biden has
also pledged to raise the admissions cap to 125,000 by Fiscal Year 2022, which begins in October.
The president’s foot-dragging on the issue has left thousands of refugees in a state of uncertainty, including many who have already been vetted by the U.S. government.
“Mark Hetfield, the president and CEO of HIAS, a refugee resettlement
organization, shared the story of one nearly 30-year-old Congolese
woman who had been vetted and approved to fly to the U.S. in early
March,” CNNreported
Thursday. “When Biden’s signature didn’t come, her ticket was canceled,
and because she is now in her third trimester, she can no longer
travel.”
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), one of the signatories of the Democratic letter, called Biden’s decision to keep the Trump-era cap in effect “shameful.”
“As a refugee,” said Omar, who was born in Somalia, “I know finding a
home is a matter of life or death for children around the world.”
Meredith Owen, director of policy and advocacy for Church World
Service, a refugee assistance organization, said in a statement that “there is no moral reason to keep the historic-low refugee admissions
goal of 15,000 in place for the rest of this year, nor was there any
morality in the significant delay in restoring regional allocations.”
“The harm caused by the delay cannot be overstated—thousands of
refugees who were ready for travel to the United States last month have
seen their medical and security checks start to expire,” said Owen.
“This means that they will have to wait months—if not years—to actually
be resettled in the United States and reunited with loved ones.”

CNN heeft moedwillig anti-Trump propaganda gemaakt: je zal waarschijnlijk denken, nou en, blij dat we van die gek af zijn. Echter vervolgens moet je je afvragen of Joe Biden zo’n groot verschil is t.o.v. Trump. Joe Biden is één van de weinige VS presidenten die al een oorlogsmisdadiger was voor hij aantrad als president, dit vanwege zijn eerdere harde opstelling t.o.v. Rusland en zijn rol als vicepresident onder Obama, die zich als Nobelprijswinnaar voor de Vrede ontpopte als een oorlogsmisdadiger die minstens 2 illegale oorlogen is gestart en verantwoordelijk is voor bloedvergieten in landen waar hij (samen met Biden, Hillary Clinton en haar opvolger John Kerry) democratisch gekozen regeringen met bloedvergieten om zeep heeft geholpen, zoals die in Honduras en Oekraïne…..
Zo zou ik nog wel even door kunnen gaan, bijvoorbeeld over het milieubeleid, waar Obama weliswaar het akkoord van Parijs tekende, maar in werkelijkheid een heel smerig beleid voerde, zo kwam de export van steenkool onder Obama tot een absoluut hoogtepunt en gaf hij zelfs toestemming om grote kolencentrales door VS bedrijven te laten bouwen in landen als Bangladesh (zoals bij het grote natuurgebied Sundarbarns)……
Echter wat CNN heeft gedaan is eindelijk in de openbaarheid gekomen: het op zo’n manier tegenwerken van een zittende president dat deze de verkiezingen heeft verloren, althans daar zal CNN gezien de op een onbewaakt ogenblik gedane uitlatingen van een belangrijke medewerker zeker een belangrijke bijdrage aan hebben geleverd….. Uiteraard was het niet alleen CNN, immers behalve met Fox News had Trump ruzie met bijna alle grote mediaorganen in de VS.
Door de uitlatingen van die medewerker, Charlie Chester, worden meteen alle door de reguliere westerse media gepropageerde samenzweringstheorieën doorgeprikt, theorieën als zouden de beschuldigingen op de sociale media over de reguliere (massa-) media waarin werd en wordt gezegd dat deze in feite ten dienste staan van de zittende neoliberale westerse regeringen berusten op pure onzin….. Anders gezegd: deze beschuldigingen op de sociale media worden eens te meer bevestigd met het verhaal van Chester!! De reguliere media maken zich schuldig aan het maken van ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) en andere manipulaties van de westerse bevolkingen, die in het voordeel zijn van de zittende westerse neoliberale regeringen en van de grote bedrijven, waaronder de grote wapenfabrikanten, die het grootste belang hebben bij zoveel mogelijk oorlog, of dat nu is tegen door de VS gekweekte terreurgroepen dan wel tegen landen die zich niet wensen te onderwerpen aan de VS……..
Volgens Chester is CNN wel uitgepoept als het gaat over het Coronavirus en hij stelt dat CNN zich zal richten op de klimaatverandering, niet omdat men daar inzit over die verandering, maar omdat het hip is en grote bedrijven zich op grote schaal groenwassen (greenwashing) als zou men het beste met de wereld voorhebben, terwijl men achter de schermen gewoon doorgaat op de doodlopende weg, zeg maar zoals wereldvernietigers Shell en Unilever bezig zijn >> naar buiten toe net doen alsof ze uiterst duurzaam bezig zijn, terwijl de werkelijkheid het tegenovergestelde laat zien en zoals je wellicht weet happen de reguliere westerse media maar al te graag toe en dragen deze leugen met verve uit…… (‘logisch ook’ daar die media in handen zijn van plutocraten en investeringsmaatschappijen die er alle belang bij hebben dat dit soort bedrijven het goed blijven doen op de beurs, daar ze grootaandeelhouders zijn in die bedrijven……) De journalisten van die mediaorganen kunnen dan ook al lang niet meer onafhankelijk berichten over zaken van belang, alleen als het de eigenaren goed uitkomt, of als een zaak zo open op straat ligt dat ze wel moeten meegaan in de berichtgeving om geen gebruikers te verliezen….
Gezien het voorgaande is het dan ook niet vreemd dat de journalisten en hoofdredacties van die grote mediaorganen schreeuwen om censuur op de sociale media, waarbij ze de zaken waar ze zichzelf aan beschuldigen: nepnieuws en andere manipulaties gebruiken om de lezers, kijkers en luisteraars op het ‘juiste pad’ te houden daar er tegenwoordig op de sociale media zoveel echte journalisten zijn te vinden die wel de waarheid brengen en onafhankelijk berichten……. En zoals al zo vaak op deze plek opgemerkt: censuur hoort thuis in een dictatuur en elke vorm van censuur die al is doorgevoerd, ook in ons land, is een stap verder in de richting van een dictatuur…….. A technical director for CNN made the grave error of sitting down with a (probably hot) undercover female journalist from Project Veritas,
to whom he admitted that the network “got Trump out” with their
coverage, and that he “100% believe(s) that if it wasn’t for CNN, I
don’t know that Trump would have got voted out.”
“I came to CNN because I wanted to be part of that,” added the director, Charlie Chester.
He then explained how the network engaged in propaganda to ‘create a story’ about Trump vs. Biden.
“[Trump’s]
hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical
people to tell a story that was all speculation — that he was
neurologically damaged, and he was losing it. He’s unfit to — you know,
whatever. We were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything
about. That’s what — I think that’s propaganda,” he said, adding “We
would always show shots of him [Biden] jogging and that [he’s] healthy,
you know, and him in aviator shades. Like you paint him as a young
geriatric.”

CNN is already preparing its shift in coverage to push and promote
climate change fear.
“I think there’s a COVID fatigue. So, like
whenever a new story comes up, they’re [CNN’s] going to latch onto it.
They’ve already announced in our office that once the public is — will
be open to it — we’re going to start focusing mainly on climate,”
Chester said.
Chester: “It’s going to be our [CNN’s]
focus. Like our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without
saying it, that’s what it was, right? So, our next thing is going to be
climate change awareness.”
Veritas Journalist:“What does that look like?”
Chester:“I
don’t know. I’m not sure. I have a feeling that it’s going to be like,
constantly showing videos of decline in ice, and weather warming up, and
like the effects it’s having on the economy–”
Veritas Journalist:“Who decides that?”
Chester:“Head of the network.”
Veritas Journalist: “Who is that? Is that [Jeff] Zucker?”
Chester: “Zucker, yeah. I imagine that he’s got his council and they’ve all like, discussed, like where they think–”
Veritas Journalist:“So, that’s like the next–”
Chester: “Pandemic-like
story that we’ll beat to death, but that one’s got longevity. You know
what I mean? Like there’s a definitive ending to the pandemic. It’ll
taper off to a point that it’s not a problem anymore. Climate change can
take years, so they’ll [CNN will] probably be able to milk that quite a
bit.”

Alsof
het weer 2009 is en Barack Obama de kans liet lopen om met een meerderheid in de beide ‘huizen’ van het congres bijtijds
belangrijke veranderingen door te voeren, zoals een ziektekostenverzekering voor een veel groter deel van de grote onderlaag in de VS, althans voor een veel groter deel van die bevolking dan wat hij uiteindelijk nog voor elkaar kreeg (en
bijvoorbeeld de hervorming van de politie door te voeren zodat die niet langer de
garantie zou zijn voor het vermoorden van onevenredig veel gekleurde burgers, wat al heel lang het geval is in de VS)…..
Zo
laat Joe Biden de kans lopen om het recht om te kunnen stemmen voor de
gekleurde bevolking te garanderen, hetzelfde geldt voor het plan om
de in elkaar stortende infrastructuur te renoveren en het leven van
de grote onderlaag te verbeteren door bijvoorbeeld een eerlijk
minimumloon door te voeren van minstens $ 14.00 per uur…. (tegen
dat laatste zijn overigens ook een aantal Democratische politici) En
waarom? Simpel omdat de Biden administratie de meer dan achterlijke
politieke belemmering door het ‘filibusteren’ kan afschaffen, dan wel
dusdanig kan veranderen, zodat belangrijke hervormingen niet langer
kunnen worden tegengehouden door bijvoorbeeld het dagenlang voorlezen
van telefoonboeken, waardoor een minderheid in het congres het voor elkaar kan krijgen dat een wetsvoorstel van de meerderheid het niet haalt, of zwaar wordt vertraagd…….. (bovendien zou Biden per decreet maatregelen kunnen doorvoeren, zo omzeilt hij het congres)
Terwijl
een aantal staten al maatregelen hebben genomen die het voor grote
groepen onmogelijk maken om nog te kunnen stemmen (in de zogenaamde
democratische VS), je snapt het al, vooral het gekleurde deel van de
bevolking wordt daarmee getroffen zodat deze geen gebruik kan maken van haar stemrecht….. Niet voor niets, daar zoals het beest Trump al liet
weten: als iedere VS burger zou kunnen stemmen zou de Republikeinse
Partij nooit meer aan de macht komen……

Johnson van Common Dreams vraagt zich af waarom de Democraten
nu niet doorpakken, daar de kans levensgroot is dat de Republikeinen bij
de volgende senaatsverkiezingen in 2022 de meerderheid zullen
behalen en daarmee de administratie van Biden deels vleugellam kunnen
maken, zoals de Obama administratie overkwam in 2010. En
dat zal hoogstwaarschijnlijk gebeuren als de Biden administratie nu
niet het stemrecht hervormt voor die verkiezingen…….. Je zou
bijna gaan geloven dat de Democraten het wel prima vinden dat
bijvoorbeeld de grote gekleurde onderlaag niet het volledige
stemrecht krijgt, waar ze volgens de grondwet recht op hebben……

Pressured to Nuke Filibuster Now

With dozens of Republican-authored
voter suppression measures
advancing through state legislatures across the country,
progressive advocacy groups are imploring Democratic lawmakers to
stop dragging their feet and immediately abolish the Senate rule that
is obstructing an ambitious
plan to shield the franchise from the GOP’s onslaught.
In a joint
statement late Wednesday, the Battle Born Collective, Justice
Democrats, the Sunrise Movement, and Data for Progress argued that
further delaying the fight over the archaic legislative
filibuster—which effectively requires 60 votes for most legislation
to pass the Senate—risks relegating voting rights and other key
priorities “to second-class status.”
“Democrats have a mandate from
voters to move forward on their own. There’s no reason to delay
abolishing the Senate filibuster,” the groups said. “Delay
carries enormous risk, just as it did in 2009.”
The coalition’s warning came as
President Joe Biden unveiled the first portion of an infrastructure
package that congressional Democrats are preparing
to push through the filibuster-proof budget reconciliation process,
given the GOP’s vocal
opposition to the proposal.
But the progressive groups said
that evading the filibuster issue yet again by using the restrictive
reconciliation process—which allows legislation to pass with a
simple majority—”produces the risk that many elements of the
American Jobs Plan will be stripped out by the Senate parliamentarian
for not complying with arcane budgetary rules.”
The reconciliation strategy also
pushes off a long-overdue filibuster confrontation until the nascent
infrastructure package makes its way through Congress and receives a
final vote, which could be more
than three months away.
Because the For the People
Act (H.R.1)—Democrats’ sweeping
voting rights expansion bill—would not meet current budget
reconciliation requirements, the measure would have to be passed
through regular order, an impossible task with the 60-vote filibuster
in place and Senate Republicans unified in their opposition to the popular
legislation.
That’s why the progressive
coalition is urging Senate Democrats to eliminate—or, at the very
least, dramatically
weaken—the filibuster before pressing ahead with infrastructure
legislation. A growing number of Democrats have expressed support for
reforming the filibuster in recent weeks, including Biden
and conservative
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).
“Moving forward with
filibuster reform now will allow the [infrastructure] proposal to
pass through regular order, while also clearing the way for the
passage of other critical policies like the For the People Act,”
the groups note.
Changing or abolishing the
filibuster would require the support of the entire Senate Democratic
caucus plus a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris.
With the filibuster in place, Mitch McConnell is able to hold up popular, necessary, and urgent legislation like the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act (GFJPA), the Equality Act, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (JLVRAA).
According to the latest
tally from the Brennan Center for Justice, 361 bills with
voter-suppression provisions have been introduced in 47 states and at
least five have been signed into law, including Georgia’s
draconian new restrictions.
The Brennan Center argued in an analysis
last month that, if passed, the For the People Act would “thwart
virtually every single one” of the GOP-led voter suppression
efforts at the state level. Manchin is the only Democratic senator
who is not
listed as a co-sponsor of the legislation.
“The landmark legislation
would create a national baseline for voting access that every
American can rely on,” the Brennan Center said, “and it
would foil state efforts to manipulate voting rules to exclude
eligible voters or create discriminatory outcomes.”
But the progressive coalition
cautioned Wednesday that if Senate Democrats “delay filibuster
reform—and therefore any action on voting rights—until the fall
or winter… it will be too late to implement many vital democracy
reforms in time to combat gerrymandering or the massive wave of voter
suppression Republicans are planning for the 2022 midterms.”
“It’s clear Republicans in
Congress don’t want to help pass policies that improve people’s
lives, rebuild our nation’s crumbling infrastructure, and meet the
scale of the crises we face,” the groups said. “Starting
right now, Democrats have a once in a generation opportunity to go
big and renew faith in the government’s ability to get real things
done. What are they waiting for?”
