New York Times te kakken gezet met haar berichtgeving over Russische manipulatie voor midterm verkiezingen

Een
bericht van een paar maanden geleden waarnaar ik al eens heb gelinkt,
maar ‘mooi genoeg’ om in het geheel te plaatsen, immers de hysterie over
Russische manipulaties, zoals werd beweerd al voor de ‘midterm’ verkiezingen in de
VS, blijft even groot… (zelfs al een half jaar voor die verkiezingen werd in de VS aangekondigd dat Rusland de midterm verkiezingen zou manipuleren! Deze toevoeging om geheel ten overvloede nog eens te wijzen op de totaal belachelijke aanname ‘van Russische schuld’, ofwel ‘Russiagate’ waarvoor tot op heden, over NB een periode van meer dan 2 jaar, niet één steekhoudend bewijs werd gegeven!)

‘Cyber
security experts’, schrijvend voor de New York Times (NYT), claimden
dat de midterm verkiezingen in de VS het doel waren van online
beïnvloeding door Rusland. Niet dat men daar bewijs voor had: oh
nee, wacht even men had ‘wel bewijs’ en dat was…..: veel mensen
plaatsten links naar artikelen van RT (America)…… ha! ha! ha! ha!
ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Verdomd
mensen, dat was dan ook het enige bewijs dat deze ‘experts’ konden
leveren…… En dat in een opiniestuk op NYT van deze jokers, t.w. Jonathan Morgan en Ryan
Fox…..

Jammer
voor deze twee ‘experts’, maar Rick Sanchez van RT America nam hen fiks in de maling met hun belachelijke bewering.

Volgens
Fox en Morgan zouden de Russen zich dus met deze verkiezingen hebben
bemoeid, maar wel minder dan bij de presidentsverkiezingen. Om te
vervolgen met te zeggen dat de Russen niet zijn gestopt met hun
bemoeienissen, maar dat ze van tactiek zijn veranderd, ook al was die
tactiek eerder anders en is die bemoeienis hoewel nu anders, minder
dan tijdens de presidentsverkiezingen…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
Jéééézus op een houtvlot!!

Niet
echt de bedoeling van Sanchez, maar de video van iets meer dan 3
minuten in het hieronder opgenomen artikel van RT vind ik uiterst humoristisch (zoals je al begrepen had)

Cybersecurity
‘experts’ writing for the New York Times have claimed that online
Russian “influence operations” targeted the US midterm elections
in October. The proof? Lots of people posted links to RT’s content.

Indeed,
that is the only evidence of Russian social
media “interference” offered
in an op ed written by Jonathan Morgan and Ryan Fox, who co-run a
cybersecurity company which “monitors
disinformation.”

Picking
apart this spurious reasoning, Rick Sanchez, who hosts The News on RT
America, painted a slightly less dramatic picture of what it’s
actually like work at the network. Spoiler: No bots or spying
involved.

“I
come here every single morning during our editorial meetings with an
assortment of writers and producers…,” Sanchez
said.

“We
argue with each other, we disagree sometimes, some lean left, some
people lean right — you know, typical conversation about what the
day’s news is and how we’re gonna cover it…but man, coded
messages? Bots? Really?”

Morgan
and Fox say they have detected more “overall
activity” from
continuing Russian influence campaigns than social media companies
have revealed or that other researchers have been able to identify.
Impressive. So how did they do it?

The
intrepid researchers tracked 110,000 social media posts that
referenced any US midterm election candidate, topic or hashtag which
contained a link to RT (and a couple of other
Russian “influence” websites)
in the month of October — and, well, that’s all really.

“I
write every word that I read on this newscast. I’m a huge believer
that I as an independent journalist have to protect that, which I’ve
practiced by the way at NBC and at CNN and at Fox and at
Univision,” Sanchez
added. “So
somebody is sneaking something into this newscast that I don’t know
about? Really? Man, they’re really good.”

But
Morgan and Fox are insistent that impressionable Americans
are“unwittingly
sharing Russian propaganda” on
their social media platforms and perhaps “even
millions” of
them have engaged with such mind-altering content online. “We
must remain vigilant in the face of confirmed Russian efforts to
undermine our democracy,” they
write.

Now,
not to rain on anyone’s parade here, but trying to paint tweets
with links to RT as some kind of big nefarious influence operation
seems like a little bit of a stretch — perhaps even a cheap PR
stunt for a company, which just closed an $11 million funding deal in
August to help it fight “disinformation
campaigns” online.

Als
je nog steeds in het sprookje ‘Russiagate’ gelooft heb je heel wat
echte informatie gemist, informatie zoals die in het hieronder opgenomen
artikel. Daarin wordt bericht over een bedrijf dat in de VS al aan de
Russische trollenweg heeft getimmerd, maar nu door de mand is gevallen
als de baas van een leger met nep-Russische bots…..

Ryan
Fox en Jonathan Morgan, die het bedrijf New Knowledge (cybersecurity
company) leiden, een bedrijf dat desinformatie online in de gaten
houdt, schreven op 6 november jl. een artikel in de New York Times,
waarin ze verhaalden over de Russische pogingen om de VS verkiezingen
te manipuleren……..

Ongelofelijk
als je ziet wat deze 2 leugenaars te berde brachten over de
zogenaamde Russische bemoeienis met de VS verkiezingen, ze gingen
zelfs zover te stellen dat Facebook en Twitter meer werden
‘misbruikt’ door de Russen, dan die 2 platforms zelf hebben
aangegeven..

De
reguliere media moeten zich de ogen uit de kop schamen, deze leugens zo hysterisch uit te venten als waarheid, waarbij ze de VS en haar
oorlogshond de NAVO helpen een oorlog te ontketenen tussen Rusland en
het westen, nu nog Koude Oorlog 2.0, echter de grens naar een ‘hete
oorlog’ met Rusland is dichterbij dan ooit tevoren, dichterbij dan
tijdens de eerste Koude Oorlog…..

De
feiten die aantonen dat Russiagate een ‘hoax’ is, zijn zo
grootschalig voorhanden, dat je niet begrijpt waar die reguliere
media het lef vandaan halen deze willens en wetens over het hoofd te
zien en het publiek warm te maken voor een oorlog tegen Rusland (die maar één uitkomst kan hebben: WOIII….),
nogmaals op basis van leugens (hetzelfde geldt overigens ook voor
China, dat door diezelfde media steeds vaker als misdadig wordt
neergezet middels leugencampagnes, waarbij men haat en angst zaait
tegen/voor dit land)

Lees het volgende artikel en zie hoe men de Russen meer en meer demoniseert, alles gebaseerd op dikke vette leugens, zeg maar zoals de VS met haar hielenlikkers in de rest van het westen oorlogen is gestart op basis van louter smerige leugens…….. The
co-founders of cybersecurity firm New Knowledge warned Americans in
November to “remain vigilant” in the face of “Russian efforts”
to meddle in US elections. This month, they have been exposed for
doing just that themselves.

Ryan
Fox and Jonathan Morgan, who run the New Knowledge cybersecurity
company which claims to “monitor
disinformation”online, penned a
foreboding op-ed in the New York Times on November 6, about “the
Russians” and
their nefarious efforts to influence American elections.

At
the time, it struck me that Fox and Morgan’s reasoning seemed a
little far-fetched. For example, one of the pieces of evidence
presented to prove that Russia had targeted American elections was
that lots of people had posted links to RT’s content online. Hardly
a smoking gun worthy of a Times oped.

Morgan
and Fox, intrepid cyber sleuths that they are, claimed in the article
they had detected more “overall
activity” from
ongoing Russian influence campaigns than social media companies like
Facebook and Twitter had yet revealed — or that other researchers
had been able to identify.

The
New Knowledge guys even authored a Senate Intelligence Committee
report on Russia’s alleged efforts to mess with American democracy.
They called
it a “propaganda
war against American citizens.” Impressive
stuff. They must be really good at their job, right?

This
week, however, we learned that New Knowledge was running its own
disinformation campaign (or “propaganda
war against Americans,” you
could say), complete with fake Russian bots designed to discredit
Republican candidate Roy Moore as a Russia-preferred candidate when
he was running for the US senate in Alabama in 2017.

The
scheme was
exposed by
the New York Times — the paper that just over a month earlier
published that aforementioned oped, in which Fox and Morgan
pontificated about Russian interference online.

New
Knowledge created a mini-army of fake Russian bots and fake Facebook
groups. The accounts, which had Russian names, were made to follow
Moore. An internal company memo boasted that New Knowledge
had “orchestrated
an elaborate ‘false flag’ operation that planted the idea that the
Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet.”

Moore
lost the race by 1.5 percent. To be fair, accusations published by
the Washington Post that he pursued underage girls back in the 1980s
may have had something to do with it as well, but that’s a
different story.

Of
course, New Knowledge and even the New York Times, which blew the lid
of the operation, are trying to spin this as some kind of “small
experiment” during
which they “imitated
Russian tactics” online
to see how they worked. Just for research, of course. They have also
both claimed that the scheme, dubbed ‘Project Birmingham’ had
almost no effect on the outcome of the race.

The
money for the so-called research project came from Reid Hoffman, the
billionaire co-founder of LinkedIn, who contributed $750,000 to
American Engagement Technologies (AET), which then spent $100,000 on
the New Knowledge experiment. After the scheme was exposed, Hoffman
offered a public
apology,
saying he didn’t know exactly how the money had been used and
admitting that the tactics were “highly
disturbing.”

If
people like Fox and Morgan actually cared about so-called Russian
meddling or the integrity of American elections, they would not have
run the deceptive campaign against Moore, no matter how undesirable
he was as a candidate. Their sneaky and deceitful methods are in
total contrast to the public profile they have cultivated for
themselves as a firm fighting the good fight for the public good. But
is it really that much of a surprise?

You
would think that a newspaper like the New York Times would have
cottoned on to the fact that guys like Fox and Morgan, with their
histories in
the US military and intelligence agencies, have clear agendas and are
not exactly squeaky clean or the most credible sources of information
when it comes to anything to do with Russia. But that kind of insight
or circumspection might be too much to ask for in the age of
Russiagate.

Facebook
removed Morgan’s account on Saturday for “engaging
in coordinated inauthentic behavior” around
the Alabama election. Three days after publishing its initial article
on the scandal (the one in which it played down the effects of New
Knowledge’s disinfo campaign), the New York Times published
a follow-up
piece about
the Facebook removal, in which it admitted that the controversy would
be a “stinging
embarrassment” for
the social media researcher, noting that he had been a “leading
voice” against
supposed Russian disinformation campaigns.

In
Fox and Morgan’s original NYT oped, they warned of the
ubiquitous “Russia-linked
social media accounts” and
estimated that “at
least hundreds of thousands, and perhaps even millions” of
US citizens had engaged with them online. One must now wonder, were
they including their own fake Russian bots in that count, or were
they leaving those ones out?

It’s
nearly two years into the Trump presidency and still we have no solid
evidence that the Russian “collusion” theory
is anything more than a fantasy concocted by Democrats desperate to
provide a more palatable reason for Hillary Clinton’s loss than the
fact that she simply ran a bad campaign.

In
fact, at this point, we actually have more solid and irrefutable
evidence of election meddling from the likes of dodgy American and
British companies like Cambridge
Analytica and
New Knowledge than we do of any meddling orchestrated by Russia.

In
de VS zijn het bestuur en directie van Facebook en Twitter tot de
slotsom gekomen dat zij de juiste bedrijven hebben die de
internetgebruikers op hun platform moeten censureren……..

Afgelopen
donderdag hoorde ik voor het eerst over de uitbreidende censuur van de zogenaamde onafhankelijke organisaties Facebook en Twitter. BBC World Service meldde ‘s
nachts al dat Facebook en Twitter in aanloop naar de zogenoemde
democratische verkiezingen in de VS hun platforms uitgebreid gaan censureren……. Deze verkiezingen, ‘The Midterm Elections’ worden op 6
november a.s. gehouden in de VS, verkiezingen waar weer veel mensen van worden
uitgesloten, ‘uiteraard’ vooral de arme gekleurde burgers……

Kijk, dat vooral de reguliere (massa-) media een hele berg aan ‘fake
news’ (nepnieuws) en ronduit propaganda (inclusief angst- en haatzaaien) hebben gebracht en brengen, doet niet ter zaken, zij mogen gewoon
hun Facebook- en Twitteraccount blijven gebruiken…..

Mensen
dit is de opmaat naar een politiestaat en reken maar dat de EU daar
gewoon achteraan hobbelt, ook hier wil men linkse en onafhankelijke
berichtgeving weren van het net….. De waarheid mag niet meer worden gezegd, we moeten bang zijn van Rusland, Syrië en Noord-Korea
(in de VS is Iran er met een dikke plus aan toegevoegd door de Trump administratie*), terwijl de ware
grote terreurbrenger en organisator van terreur wereldwijd, juist de VS
is…….. Tja beste bezoeker en dat mag nu juist niet verteld
worden,althans niet op de sites met duizenden bezoekers……

Daarover
gesproken, Caitlin Jones noemt in het hieronder opgenomen artikel van
Anti-Media, eerder gepubliceerd op de website van Caitlin zelf, een
aantal voorbeelden, let wel de aantallen zijn sinds de publicatie van
dit artikel afgelopen donderdag fiks opgelopen

Men
verschuilt zich bij Twitter en Facebook achter lamme argumenten, als
dat er niet-authentiek gedrag en sensationeel politieke inhoud wordt
geplaatst…… Waarom plaatsen ze dan wel berichten van Trump? (al
zit die geloof ik alleen op Twitter), wat hij durft te plaatsen tart
elk fatsoen en is niet zelden zelfs oproepend tot geweld!!

has purged
more dissident political media pages today,
this time under the pretense of protecting its users from
“inauthentic activity”. In a
statement co-authored
by Facebook Head of Cybersecurity Nathaniel Gleicher (who also
happens to be the former White House National
Security Council Director of
Cybersecurity Policy), the massive social media platform explained
that it has removed “559 Pages and 251 accounts that have
consistently broken our rules against spam and coordinated
inauthentic behavior.”

Facebook has unpublished my page, The Anti-Media, after falsely accusing us of violating policies. 2.1 million followers and 5 years of work gone…for now.

This
“inauthentic behavior”, according to Facebook, consists of using
“sensational political content — regardless of its political
slant — to build an audience and drive traffic to their
websites,” which is the same as saying they write about
controversial things, and posting those political articles “in
dozens of Facebook Groups, often hundreds of times in a short period,
to drum up traffic for their websites.”

In
other words, the pages were removed for publishing controversial
political content and trying to get people to read it. Not for
writing “fake news”, but for doing what they could to get
legitimate indie media news stories viewed by people who might want
to view it. The practice of sharing your material around in Facebook
groups is common practice for most independent media content
creators; I did it myself a lot in late 2016 and early 2017, and
pretty much all my indie media peers at the time did too.

of what I write. I send on big news links and a few memes. It was
enough to get me banned and the pages are simply gone.”

“Facebook
took down my page with nearly 70,000 followers, labeling it as
‘spam,’ when I have spent 4 years working to build that page up
and using it to post the articles I wrote and videos of my
reporting,” tweeted RT
America’s Rachel Blevins. “This is so incredibly wrong and is
affecting hundreds of similar pages.”

“And
just like that 5 + years of hard work promoting ideas of peace and
freedom have been erased,” wrote
a Facebook user called
John Liberty, who lost multiple pages about police accountability,
cannabis legalization and libertarianism.

Two
of the most high-profile pages which were shut down have probably
been seen at some point by any political dissident who uses Facebook;
the Free
Thought Project,
which had 3.1 million followers, and Anti-Media,
which had 2.1 million. I’ve found useful information on both sites
before, and despite disagreeing with them ideologically in some areas
have found them both vastly more legitimate than anything you’ll
find on Google News.

if that wasn’t creepy enough, some of the accounts purged by
Facebook appear to be getting censored on Twitter as well, bringing
back memories of the August cross-platform coordinated
silencing of Alex Jones.
The aforementioned Anti-Media has now been suspended from Twitter
just hours after tweeting about being removed from Facebook,
and Patti
Beers who
had more than 30,000 Twitter followers has just been removed from
both sites as well.

I
have said it before and I will say it again: in a corporatist system,
wherein there is no clear line between corporate power and government
power, corporate censorship is government censorship. You can’t
have a system wherein corporate lobbying and campaign finance amount
to legalized bribery of
elected officials, wherein massive Silicon Valley corporations form
extensive ties with secretive government agencies in
order to eclipse their competition, and then claim this is a matter
of private corporations enforcing their own rules on their own
private property. This is just what totalitarian government
censorship looks like in a corporatist oligarchy.

Do
you want a few Silicon Valley plutocrats determining what political
speech constitutes “inauthentic activity” for you? Do you want a
world in which the masses are herded into massive government-allied
social media stables which are then regularly
brought before the US Senate to
pledge more
iron-fisted censorship of
problematic political speech? Do you want a world in which social
media corporations are forced to make alliances with existing power
structures in order to be allowed to grow? Do you want a world in
which venues of political discourse are increasingly sterilized to
favor the agendas of the ruling class? If not, the time to act is
now.

Regardless
of where you’re at on the political spectrum, if you oppose the
status quo then opposing internet censorship of any political speech
is now a matter of simple self defense. If this wasn’t obvious to
you when they shut down Alex Jones, it should damn well be obvious to
you now. If you want to change the existing system in any way which
takes power away from those currently in power, your voice is next on
the chopping block. They’re locking all the doors down as fast as
they can to keep us trapped in this Orwellian oligarchy until they
get us all killed by war or ecocide. If they shut down the public’s
ability to share dissident information, they’ll have locked the
final door. Don’t let them.

Door de weigering Assange te
verdedigen, tonen de reguliere media hun ware gezicht, aldus de kop
van een artikel van Caitlin Johnstone op Media.com en hieronder
overgenomen van Anti-Media. Een top advocaat van de New York Times
(NYT), David McCraw waarschuwde een zaal vol rechters dat de
vervolging van WikiLeaks journalist Julian Assange een gevaarlijk
precedent zal scheppen en zou kunnen eindigen met het beschadigen van de reguliere (massa-) media….. (ha! ha! ha! Wat er nog te beschadigen is aan de reguliere media is me een raadsel, gezien het enorme gehalte aan nepnieuws [‘fake news] en de leugens die daar dag in dag uit ten toon worden gespreid…..)

Volgens McCraw zullen wetshandhavers
uiteindelijk weinig verschil kunnen zien tussen een internetplatform
als WikiLeaks en mediaorganen als de New York Times en de Washington
Post (WaPo)….. Lullig werden de woorden van McCraw niet
gepubliceerd in ‘zijn eigen’ NYT….. (!!) Echter zolang de reguliere media de leugens van politiek en geheime diensten maar blijven herhalen, zal er geen vuiltje aan de lucht zijn…..

Het publiceren van o.a. uitgelekte gegevens die geheim
werden gehouden voor het volk, is in feite de taak van de echte
journalistiek, immers het is de taak van de journalistiek om de
machthebbers te controleren, het volk daarover in te lichten* en het publiek tevens te leren kritisch naar de machthebbers te kijken…..

Daar wringt dan ook de schoen aldus Johnstone, de reguliere media hebben deze taken al lang bij het
grofvuil gezet en schikken zich naar de eisen van overheid en degenen
die deze media in handen hebben, miljardairs en beursgenoteerde
bedrijven……… Niet voor niets dat de journalisten van de reguliere media Assange keer op keer demoniseren en de leugens van de politiek en geheime diensten als CIA en FBI (notoire leugenaars) over bijvoorbeeld de zogenaamde bemoeienis van Rusland met de VS verkiezingen blijven herhalen, ook al is er geen nanometer bewijs voor……

Daarover gesproken: hoorde onlangs een Belgische ‘journalist’ die het gore lef had te zeggen dat hij de ‘stapel aan bewijzen’ voor die Russische inmenging met de VS presidentsverkiezingen had gelezen, een keiharde leugen, daar die bewijzen (nog steeds) niet bestaan…..

Tuesday a top lawyer for the New
York Times named
David McCraw warned
a room full of judges that
the prosecution of Julian Assange for WikiLeaks publications would
set a very dangerous precedent which would end up hurting mainstream
news media outlets like NYT, the Washington
Post,
and other outlets which publish secret government documents.

“I
think the prosecution of him would be a very, very bad precedent for
publishers,” McCraw said. “From that incident, from everything I
know, he’s sort of in a classic publisher’s position and I think
the law would have a very hard time drawing a distinction between The
New York Times and WikiLeaks.”

Do
you know where I read about this? Not in the New
York Times.

“Curiously,
as of this writing, McCraw’s words have found no mention in
the Times itself,”
activist Ray McGovern wrote for
the alternative media outlet Consortium
News.
“In recent years, the newspaper has shown a marked proclivity to
avoid printing anything that might risk its front row seat at the

So
let’s unpack that a bit. It is now public knowledge that the
Ecuadorian government is actively seeking to turn Assange over to be
arrested by the British government. This was initially reported
by RT,
then independently confirmed
by The
Intercept,
and is today full mainstream public knowledge being reported by
mainstream outlets like CNN.
It is also public knowledge that Assange’s asylum was granted by
the Ecuadorian government due
to a feared attempt to extradite him to
the United States and prosecute
him for WikiLeaks publications.
Everyone from President Donald
Trump to
Attorney General Jeff
Sessions to
now-Secretary of State Mike
Pompeo to
ranking House Intelligence Committee member Adam
Schiff to
Democratic members
of the US Senate have
made public statements clearly indicating that there is a US
government interest in getting Assange out of the shelter of
political asylum and into prison.

The New
York Times is
aware of this, and as evidenced by McCraw’s comments it is also
aware of the dangerous precedent that such a prosecution would set
for all news media publications. The New
York Times editorial
staff are aware that the US government prosecuting a publisher for
publishing important documents that had been hidden from the public
would make it impossible for the Times to
publish the same kind of material without fear of the same legal
repercussions. It is aware that the maneuvers being taken against
Assange present a very real existential threat to the possibility of
real journalism and holding power to account.

You
might think, therefore, that we’d be seeing a flood of analyses and
op-eds from the New
York Times aggressively
condemning any movement toward the prosecution of Julian Assange. You
might expect all media outlets in America to be constantly sounding
the alarm about this, especially since the threat is coming from the
Trump administration, which outlets like the New
York Timesare
always eager to circulate dire warnings about. You might expect every
talking head on CNN and NBC to be ominously citing Assange as the
clearest and most egregious case yet of Trump’s infamous “war on
the free press”. Leaving aside the issues of morality, compassion
and human rights that come with Assange’s case, you might think
that if for no other reason than sheer unenlightened self interest
they’d be loudly and aggressively defending him.

And
yet, they don’t. And the fact that they don’t shows us what they
really are.

Theoretically,
journalism is meant to help create an informed populace and hold
power to account. That’s why it’s the only profession explicitly
named in the United States Constitution, and why freedom of the press
has enjoyed such constitutional protections throughout US
history. The press today is failing to protect Julian Assange
because it has no intention of creating an informed populace or
holding power to account.

This
is not to suggest the existence of some grand, secret conspiracy
among US journalists. It’s just a simple fact that plutocrats own
most of the US news media and hire the people who run it, which has
naturally created an environment where the best way to advance one’s
career is to remain perpetually inoffensive to the establishment upon
which plutocrats have built their respective empires. This is why you
see ambitious reporters on Twitter falling all over themselves to be
the first with a pithy line that advances establishment agendas
whenever breaking news presents an opportunity to do so; they are
aware that their social media presence is being assessed by potential
employers and allies for establishment loyalism. This also why so
many of those aspiring journalists attack Assange and WikiLeaks
whenever possible.

“Everyone
hoping to gain admission to the cultural elite must now strenuously
cultivate their social media so as to avoid controversy,”
journalist Michael Tracey observed recently.
“Eventually they will internalize controversy-avoidance as a
virtue, not a societal imposition. Result: a more boring, conformist
elite culture.”

great way for an aspiring journalist to avoid controversy is to
never, ever defend Assange or WikiLeaks on social media or in any
media outlet, and certainly under no circumstances allow yourself to
look like the sort of journo who might someday publish the sorts of
materials that WikiLeaks publishes. An excellent way to prove
yourself is to become yet another author of yet another one of the
many, many smear pieces that have been written about Assange and
WikiLeaks.

Mainstream
media outlets and those who thrive within them have no intention of
rocking the boat and losing their hard-earned privilege and access.
Conservative mass media will continue to defend the US president, and
liberal media will continue to defend the CIA and the FBI. Both will
help advance war, ecocide, military expansionism, surveillance and
police militarization, and none will leak anything that is damaging
to the power structures that they have learned to serve. They will
remain innocuous, uncontroversial defenders of the rich and powerful
at all times.

Meanwhile,
alternative media outlets are defending Assange ferociously. Just
today I’ve seen articles from Consortium
News, World
Socialist Website, Disobedient
Media, Antiwar and Common
Dreams decrying
the persecution of the most important government transparency
advocate living today. Alternative media outlets and independent
writers aren’t bound by establishment servitude, so the value of
WikiLeaks is clear as day. One’s eyes are only blinded to the
pernicious behaviors of power when power is signing one’s paycheck.

Mass
media outlets in America and around the world have fully discredited
themselves with their failure to defend a publisher who actually
holds power to account and brings facts into the light of truth to
create an informed populace. Every day that goes by where they don’t
unequivocally condemn any attempt to prosecute Assange is another day
in the pile of evidence that corporate media outlets serve power and
not truth. Their silence is a tacit admission that they are nothing
other than stenographers and propagandists for the most powerful
forces on earth.

Nadat
Israël meer dan 100 ongewapende Palestijnen vermoordde (waaronder 3 kinderen, 2 journalisten en duidelijk herkenbare medische hulpverleners, inclusief een
arts) en meer dan 3.000 Palestijnen (zwaar) gewond raakten door geweervuur, kwam de Israëlische regering met een plan
voor 2.500 nieuwe huizen op de illegaal door Israël bezette West
Bank…..

Het voornemen van de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël gaat lijnrecht in tegen eerder gemaakte afspraken in 2016 zoals vastgelegd in de resolutie 2334 van de VN Veiligheidsraad…… Al moet ik daar wel bij opmerken dat Israël zich daar eerder schuldig aan heeft gemaakt, dus nadat die resolutie werd aangenomen.

Ofwel
Israël heeft schijt aan de rest van de wereld en al helemaal aan de
Palestijnen, er wordt in de regering Netanyahu al ernstig gesproken
over het Palestijnen probleem……. Lullig genoeg stellen westerse regeringen keer op keer dat men geen sancties moet nemen tegen Israël, daar dit het ‘vredesproces’ zou verstoren, terwijl Israël niet anders doet dan dit proces verstoren…….. (en dan is ‘verstoren’ een eufemisme voor de enorme terreur van Israël tegen de weerloze Palestijnen……)

De Palestijnse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken heeft intussen een aanklacht ingediend bij het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) in Den Haag, dit n.a.v. de ongebreidelde terreur van Israël tegen ongewapende Palestijnen in de Gazastrook, mensen die demonstreerden i.h.k.v. de Great Return March en de al-Nakba herdenking. Volgens deze minister maakt Israël zich schuldig aan misdaden tegen de menselijkheid…….* (daar valt niets tegen in te brengen!) Uiteraard heeft Israël hier fel op gereageerd en zegt dat deze aanklacht wal noch kant raakt, maar ja dat was van te voren uit te tekenen

Israel
says it plans to build 2,500 new settler homes in the West Bank in
violation of a 2016 UNSC resolution. It comes just days after the IDF
killed dozens of Palestinians protesting the Israeli occupation.

Israel’s
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Thursday that he was
finalizing plans for the construction of new homes in Jewish
settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Writing
on Twitter, Lieberman said he would seek approval for the project
next week, expressing hope that the regional planning board – the
High Planning Council in Judea and Samaria – would designate 1,400
of the housing units for immediate construction.

“We
will promote building in all of Judea and Samaria, from the north to
south, in small communities and in large ones,”Liberman
wrote, using the Biblical names for the West Bank. Some 500,000
Israelis already live in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The
pending construction project is in direct violation of UN Security
Council Resolution 2334. Adopted in December 2016, the resolution
states that Israel’s settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
constitute a “flagrant
violation” of
international law and have “no
legal validity.”

Earlier
this week, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the
International Criminal Court to open a probe into Israel’s illegal
settlements, calling Tel Aviv’s actions “crimes against
humanity.”

The
settlements are “the
single most dangerous threat to Palestinian lives, livelihoods, and
national rights,” the
ministry said in a statement released on Facebook. Israel dismissed
the Palestinian statement as “cynical” and
claimed the request to the ICC had no legal validity.

The
project marks the latest Israeli action to come under international
scrutiny. This month, Israel welcomed the relocation of the American,
Paraguayan and Guatemalan embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem – a
move that has been widely condemned by the international community.

In
December, the United Nations General Assembly voted by 128 to 9
to declare the United States’ controversial decision to recognize
Jerusalem as Israel’s capital “null
and void.”

Lieberman’s
announcement also comes just a week after month-long Palestinian
protests,

known
as the Great March of Return, near the Gaza border. During the
opening ceremony of the US embassy in Jerusalem, violence peaked to a
level unseen in previous weeks.

Some 60 Palestinian protesters were
killed and more than 2,000 were injured by Israeli forces.

Michael Isikoff, is een flapdrol, die eerder werkte voor de Washington Post (WaPo), Newsweek en NBC News en nu de functie van chef onderzoek correspondent voor Yahoo News vervult. David Corn, wordt beschreven als een ‘veteraan journalist’, is nu chef redacteur voor Mother Jones (tijdschrift) en is daarnaast analist van MSNBC.

Deze ‘heren’ hebben het boek ‘Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump’ geschreven.

Gistermiddag waren Isikoff en Corn te horen bij CBC Canada ofwel radio Nova Scotia, om hun schrijfsel te promoten.

Uiteraard kwam de hele leugenbrij over Russiagate weer voorbij en zoals het brave ‘journalisten’ van de reguliere media betaamt, daar twijfelen deze ‘heren’ niet aan…… Nee, sterker nog: hun boek moet de lezer overtuigen dat alles op waarheid berust…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Natuurlijk werden Sputnik en RT weer als kwaadaardige mediakanalen neergezet, terwijl er bijvoorbeeld heel wat journalisten uit de VS werken…….. Men één voorbeeld dachten de heren dit te kunnen bewijzen; als het bewijs voor het brengen van ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws) afhankelijk is van één voorbeeld, kan je de reguliere massamedia al helemaal aanwijzen als fake news brengers, verdedigers van ijskoud, inhumaan neoliberaal beleid en de steunpilaren van illegale oorlogen die door de VS zijn aangegaan, waarbij de valse redenen daartoe door die media als waarheid werden en worden gebracht……

Je zou denken: “Is daar al niet alles over gezegd”, maar beste bezoeker, dat is niet zo volgens Corn en Isikoff….. Dat zit zo: de Miss World verkiezing in 2013 was ook al onderdeel van Russiagate (althans volgens Corn en Isikoff)…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Hier de uitleg (volgens Corn en Isikoff): Trump wilde die Miss World verkiezing, die in Rusland plaatsvond, gebruiken voor een ontmoeting met Putin, om zo toestemming te krijgen voor de bouw van wolkenkrabbers en dan m.n. een Trumptower in Moskou….. Tja en daarmee is volgens deze heren al genoeg gezegd…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Als we alle directeuren van westerse bedrijven die in Rusland zaken doen zo gaan bekijken, lopen er heel wat ‘verraders’ rond……..

Corn en Isikoff gingen nog verder en haalden ook ‘de annexatie van De Krim’ en ‘het oorlogvoeren in Oost-Oekraïne’ door Rusland aan, waarmee de heren Rusland nog eens verder dachten te kunnen demoniseren…… Echter deze voorbeelden zijn beide ook al gelul van een dronken aardbei, immers de bevolking van De Krim (inclusief de oorspronkelijke bewoners) kozen massaal, in een door internationale waarnemers goedgekeurd referendum, voor aansluiting bij Rusland, i.p.v. te leven onder een door de VS geparachuteerde neonazi-junta in Kiev……

Hetzelfde geldt voor het zogenaamd oorlogvoeren door het Russische leger in Oost-Oekraïne, als dit het geval was geweest, was heel Oekraïne al lang gezuiverd geweest van neonazi’s (van wie de bataljons m.n. oorlogvoeren tegen de burgerbevolking in Oost-Oekraïne) en had men de zwaar corrupte figuren als juntaleider Porosjenko al een paar jaar geleden het land uitgezet dan wel gevangengezet……

Volgens de twee ‘journalisten’ is Rusland bezig het hele westen te ontwrichten, ondermijnt het de westerse democratie en hebben de veiligheidsdiensten in de VS niets gedaan met een waarschuwing uit 2014 dat Rusland de komende presidentsverkiezingen wilde manipuleren……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Met bedragen die vergeleken met de uitgaven voor deze verkiezingen ‘peanuts’ waren, ‘heeft Rusland, of beter gezegd Putin de verkiezingen in de VS van 2016 gewonnen……..’ Voor het ondermijnen van de democratie hebben we in het westen bepaald Rusland niet nodig, dat regelen de regeringen en hun steeds machtiger wordende geheime diensten zelf wel……* (natuurlijk geholpen door de reguliere massamedia)

Volgens Corn en Isikoff was de kans groot dat Rusland het elektriciteitsnet in de VS plat zou hebben gelegd, als Obama als reactie op de bemoeienis van Rusland met de verkiezingen, een cyberaanval op Rusland had bevolen……** ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Ofwel: Obama werd nog even neergezet als een slappe president die Rusland veel harder had moeten aanpakken en dat gebaseerd op een niet gedane reactie op een niet bestaande Russische manipulatie, de bewijzen voor dat laatste zijn intussen metershoog….

Ongelofelijk maar waar: Corn en Isikoff hebben zelfs het meer dan achterlijke ‘Steele dossier’*** er met de haren bijgesleept. Het Steele dossier moet gezien worden als een document dat nog niet af was en niet bestemd was voor de argeloze lezer……….ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Het Steele dossier was een soort advies aan de DNC om te zien of ze er wat mee konden doen, zo beweerden de heren…… (DNC: Democratic National Committee: een comité van de democratische partij t.b.v. de verkiezing van destijds Hillary Clinton tot president…… )

Presentatieschaap Mora Lynch (ben niet zeker hoe die naam te schrijven, kan haar naam niet terugvinden op het net) stelde werkelijk niet één kritische vraag en grinnikte veelal om de leugens die voor de zoveelste keer werden herhaald……..

* Zo mogen wij a.s. woensdag ook in een referendum voor of tegen de sleepwet stemmen, terwijl de geheime diensten met die sleepwet geen ‘Lone Wolfs’ (‘loon woelfs….’) kunnen tegenhouden, bovendien als er een aanslag wordt gepleegd blijkt steevast dat de geheime diensten (en soms de politie) de aanslagplegers al lang in het vizier hadden… Kortom stemt en stem tegen >> de sleepwet is de volgende klap van de bijl aan onze democratie!

Dat de gehieme diensten van de VS vooral heel vaak liegen als ze iets beweren is al heel lang bekend, maar de FBI maakt ‘t nu wel helemaal bont……..

De oprichter van RT (Russia Today) en voormalig media adviseur van de Russische regering, Mikhail Lesin, werd in november 2015 dood gevonden in zijn hotelkamer te Washington (DC). De autoriteiten hielden het op een hartaanval, een conclusie die haaks stond op de werkelijkheid, gezien het autopsie rapport dat maanden later verscheen……

Zo had Lesin wonden aan het hoofd en het lichaam die waren toegebracht met een stomp voorwerp…….

De FBI maakte hier later het verhaal van dat Lesin zichzelf had dood geslagen, o.a. door zich herhaaldelijk tegen de grond te werpen, dit onder invloed van ethanol, ofwel alcohol…….. Je snapt ‘t al: kul van groot kaliber! De VS sloot in 2016 het dossier uiteindelijk met de conclusie dat Lesin op een natuurlijke manier aan z’n einde was gekomen……ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Kortom: alweer is ook de FBI verantwoordelijk voor ‘fake news….’

‘Toevallig’ kwamen in de tijd van Lesins dood en daarna meerdere Russische hoogwaardigheidsbekleders e.d. ‘op een vreemde manier’ aan hun einde……… (zie de links onder het ZeroHedge artikel)

Gezien de agressie van de geheime diensten in de VS, is het de vraag hoe lang het zal duren voordat deze moorden worden toegeschreven aan die geheime diensten, dan wel dat ze door deze diensten werden geïnitieerd……..

The
FBI just released the results of their investigation claiming that
the media mogul and found of RT killed
himself by repeatedly smashing his head and upper body into the
ground.

In
November 2015, the
Free Thought Project reported that
Mikhail Lesin, the former head of media affairs for the Russian
government, and the founder
of Russia Today (RT), was found dead in the hotel room that he was
staying at in Washington DC.

Originally, authorities
announced that Lesin died from a heart attack.

However,
the results of his autopsy released months later indicated a far more
sinister cause of death and the heavily redacted FBI documents that
were just released add to that story.

The
documents, detailing the FBI investigation into Lesin’s death were
just released Saturday
morning in spite of the investigation ending in October of 2016.

In
spite of the original cause of death noted as a heart attack, a few
months later, the District of Colombia’s Office of the Chief
Medical Examiner (OCME) and Metropolitan Police Department said that
“blunt force injuries of the neck, torso, upper extremities and
lower extremities” contributed to Lesin’s death. “The
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has released the cause
and manner of death for Mikhail Lesin… Cause of Death: blunt force
injuries of the head,” the
statement said.

Now,
FBI investigators have released the results of their investigation
claiming that the blunt force trauma all over his body was
self-inflicted.

“Mr.
Lesin died as a result of blunt for injuries to his head, with
contributing causes being blunt force injuries of the neck, torso,
upper extremities, and lower extremities, which were induced by
falls, with acute ethanol intoxication,” the
report states.

In
other words, the FBI is claiming that Lesin got so drunk that he
repeatedly and violently fell on things until he killed himself.

To
show just how much information the FBI is willing to release on these
findings, here is the version of the amended autopsy report they
released in the report.

Essentially,
all other information in regards to the findings of Lesin’s death
has been scrubbed from the documents as the remaining pages are
almost entirely redacted.

Not
only did the US remain tight-lipped on the investigation but they
also refused to allow Russian authorities to cooperate.

As
RT reports, back in 2016, months before the closing of the case,
Moscow said it was expecting Washington to explain why Russia had not
received any details from the probe into Lesin’s death, despite
repeated requests.

“We
are awaiting the related clarifications from Washington and the
official data on the progress of the investigation,” Foreign
Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote in a Facebook post at that
time. She added that if the media reports citing the forensic
statement are confirmed, Russia
will send an official request to the US “for
international legal assistance.”

In
October 2016, the US authorities announced that Lesin died of natural
causes and closed the case. “Based
on the evidence, including video footage and witness interviews, Mr.
Lesin entered his hotel room on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 4,
2015, after
days of excessive consumption of alcohol and sustained the injuries
that resulted in his death while alone in his hotel room,” the
US attorney for the District of Columbia said in
a statement.

Lesin’s
death came at a time where he was surrounded by controversy,
especially in the US. RT,
the Russian-based news source that Lesin founded has become very
controversial in the US—ostensibly for the fake Russiagate
scandal—but in reality, for challenging the western narrative of
foreign policy and privacy issues. Some US politicians have suggested
that RT be banned in the US for “spreading propaganda,” while
others have been blatant enough to attack Lesin personally.

According
to the NY
Times, until
late 2014 Lesin ran the media wing of the state’s energy
giant, Gazprom,
before stepping down or, more likely, being forced out. He ended up
in the United States, where he and his family owned properties in Los
Angeles said to be worth far more than the salary of the former
government minister.

Some
US Senators, including Roger Wicker of Mississippi, had called for
the Department of Justice to open an investigation into Lesin’s
finances prior to his death.

Wicker
was concerned that Lesin made too much money, something that was
really none of his business.

“That
a Russian public servant could have amassed the considerable funds
required to acquire and maintain these assets in Europe and the
United States raises serious questions,” Wicker
said.

The
original announcement of the heart attack back in November 2015
makes this case all the more ominous considering the fact that the
medical examiner’s office also said Lesin’s body had blunt force
trauma to the neck, torso, arms and legs too. How did
authorities overlook his wounds?

As
RT reports, Lesin was considered one of the most influential
figures in the Russian media landscape. A
graduate of Moscow State University with a degree in Civil
Engineering, he served as Minister of Press and Mass Media from 1999
to 2004. He was also a presidential media adviser from 2004 to 2009.
Lesin became chief executive officer at Garprom-Media in 2013 and
remained in the position until early 2015.

Ex-topmensen van Facebook stellen dat dit medium onder meer een gevaar is voor de samenhang in de maatschappij op elk vlak en dat dit niets te maken heeft met Russische manipulaties…… Oké, niets nieuws onder de zon, maar gezien de volhardendheid van de reguliere westerse (massa-) media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici, in de leugen dat Rusland de VS verkiezingen en verkiezingen elders zou hebben gemanipuleerd, is het belangrijk elk bewijs tegen deze kul te noemen, kul die niet anders gezien kan worden dan als anti-Russische propaganda……..

Eén van de ex-topmensen van Facebook, Chamath Palihapitiya, stelde zelfs dat zijn kinderen niet op Facebook mogen……

De hysterie over Russische bemoeienis kent geen grenzen meer en zelfs de wil tot onafhankelijkheid van het Catalaanse volk en de Brexit worden Rusland in de schoenen geschoven. Rusland zou met name ‘sociale media’ als Facebook en Twitter gebruiken om het volk elders te manipuleren…… Waar Rusland bijvoorbeeld voor de VS verkiezingen ‘het enorme bedrag’ van 100.000 dollar zou hebben geïnvesteerd in reclames op Facebook voor wodka* enz……. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Als je het totale bedrag ziet dat werd gebruikt voor de campagne t.b.v. de VS presidentsverkiezingen, is die 100.000 dollar een schijntje ‘dat nog niet een deuk in een pak boter kan slaan…..’

Dat bedrag voor die ‘Russische advertenties’, advertenties die de mensen bepaald niet opriepen tot revolutie, is het ‘enige bewijs’ dat aan Rusland (en niet aan de Russische regering) is te linken, hoe hard men ook schreeuwt dat er bergen bewijzen liggen, getoond worden ze niet!! ‘Vreemd genoeg’ is wel het tegendeel te bewijzen, dus VS manipulaties van een groot aantal zaken in landen waar de VS niets te zoeken heeft….. Sterker nog: de VS heeft via Wikileaks getoond dat het een enorm aantal ‘instrumenten’ heeft, waarmee men de schuld voor VS manipulaties in de schoenen kan schuiven van een andere regering….**

Hetzelfde wat betreft die ‘Russische advertenties’ geldt overigens voor Groot-Brittannië, waar voor het EU referendum (Brexit) een bedrag van minder dan 1 pond, zou zijn gebruikt voor die advertenties, aldus de fascist Farage. Het echte bedrag zal wel ‘iets hoger’ zijn geweest, maar deze overdrijving is wel degelijk gepast als je ziet hoeveel geld men in de campagne voor/tegen de Brexit heeft gestoken…….

Mensen lees het volgende artikel dat, oh gruwel, van RT komt en dat ik tegenkwam op het blog van Stan van Houcke. Former
executives at Facebook are now coming out to condemn how the social
media giant is “destroying society and civil discourse” and
spreading “misinformation.” Moreover, they say, it’s got
nothing to do with Russia.

One
of the former Facebook gurus is Chamath Palihapitiya who told a
business conference in the US that he doesn’t even let his own
children use the social media platform, so harmful is it, in his
view.

Those
admissions should be seen as a welcome rational perspective to
counter the hysterical Western mainstream media discourse propagated
over the past year, which seeks to blame Russia for interfering in
elections and sowing discord in society – largely, it is claimed,
through manipulation of social media like Facebook.

Facebook: Russians spent just 73p on adverts during Brexit campaign

Facebook has said Russian operatives spent just 97 cents (73p) on adverts targeted at British people during last year’s Brexit vote.

Before
getting to the admissions from the former Facebook executives, let’s
recap on the pandemic delirium of alleged Russian influence.

US
Congressional committees – at huge taxpayer expense – haul social
media executives to face McCarthyite interrogations into “Russian
interference”;
British Prime Minister Theresa May accuses Russia of “sowing
division”
in Western societies; NATO and aligned think tanks, and media accuse
the Kremlin of destabilizing elections with “fake news” sluiced
through social media.

Over
the past year, it has become almost an article of faith among Western
governments, media and think tanks that Russian state agents used
Facebook and other social media to wage cyberwar. “Russia
is at war with us,”
say hawkish senators like John McCain.

The
biggest victory for the Russians, we are told, was the election of
Donald Trump to the White House.

Incredibly,
the Kremlin is accused of manipulating Facebook, Twitter, YouTube,
and so on, by placing adverts and posts to orchestrate public opinion
across entire Western societies. Never mind that the evidence for
this alleged nefarious scheme is tenuous at best, and never mind that
the money spent on ads supposedly placed by Russians is paltry
compared with the total revenues earned by social media companies.

Google’s
de-ranking of RT in search results is a form of censorship

and
blatant propaganda

The
dearth of rational perspective in this narrative of “Russian
meddling”
is largely driven by Cold War-style stereotypical Russophobia. The
notion that Russian agents or “Kremlin-sponsored
news media”
could sway voters and societies completely misses the forest for the
trees. That is that Facebook and other mainly US-based social media
have already a preponderant influence on billions of people around
the world.

The
impact of such social media on societies and personal relations
is profound and inestimably huge. Yet, there is hardly a
proportionate debate on this insidious influence. The alleged
interference or manipulation by Russiam agents – a charge which the
Russian government has categorically rejected – is transformed into
a frenzied debate, when in reality the actual infringement is
negligible.

Contrast
that with the relative silence over the more plausible deleterious
impact of Facebook and other Western social media.

Chamath
Palihapitiya, a former vice president for user growth at Facebook who
left the company in 2011, told the
business conference that he felt “tremendous
guilt”
over his role in building the social media platform to its global
reach of two billion users.

Scathing
of the negative influence he believes now that Facebook is having on
society, communities, families, and individuals, he said bluntly: “I
don’t use that sh*t.”

Nor,
he says, does he allow his own children to join Facebook.

Why?
Because, according to Palihapitiya, Facebook is “ripping
the social fabric apart and how society works.”

The
former executive told the Stanford Business School event in the US:
“This
is not about Russian ads. This is a global problem. It is eroding the
core foundations of how people behave by and between each other.”

Did
you hear that? “This
is not about Russian ads.”

If
that’s not damning enough, the founding president of Facebook, Sean
Parker, has also recently come out to condemn
the
harmful impact of social media on society and on personal
interactions.

“

God
knows what it is doing to our children’s brains,”
he said.

Parker,
who is no longer with the company, said the social platform was
deliberately designed to exploit people, to turn users into addicts
to consume their time and thoughts. He referred to the “Like”
button as a device to induce “dopamine
hits”
– the natural happy hormone in humans.

This
profit-making abuse is something which he is not proud of now.
Indeed, the former president says he is using his wealth to help
discover cancer treatments.

Parker,
who made over $2 billion from developing Facebook, along with the
current CEO Mark Zuckerberg, said the social media platform was aimed
consciously at “exploiting
human vulnerability through social-validation feedback loops.”

The
pervasive influence of Facebook and other social media raises
troubling questions about the future of society, and social
communications and cohesion.

Sure,
it can be said the growth of global communications has got to be a
good thing in terms of fostering awareness, solidarity, and action
for change on a worldwide basis.

On
the downside though, the reverse is also true. Facebook and the like
can absorb billions of people into an artificial, atomized existence
where individuals end up being disempowered and feeling deeply
dissatisfied with their lives.

Contrary
to what advocates say, the scope for human interaction and social
change can become diminished to the point of atrophy and apathy.

Add
to this the enormous potential of Facebook being used to disseminate
information (propaganda) that promotes the US and other Western
governments’ political agendas.

Facebook,
Twitter and Google are openly engaging in censorship of alternative
media sources which have been fingered as “fake”
or “illegitimate.”
Fingered that is, by Western governments. Russian news media have
borne the brunt of this campaign to discredit and censor.

However,
the influence of US-based social media giants goes way beyond the
control of information that users of these networks are allowed to
access.

The
bigger picture is the harmful impact that these communication media
are having on the very fabric of society, on social relations, and
the way human beings associate and organize. And in particular, the
way humans organize to create political and social change.

Karl
Marx once sardonically deprecated organized religion as the “opium
of the people.”

Today,
the opium can be said to be Facebook and its ilk of paralyzing social
media. Just ask the founders.

Gisteren bracht Stan van Houcke een artikel van RT (RT, je weet wel, het mediaorgaan dat volgens de westerse reguliere media en de meeste westerse politici ‘fake news’ dan wel Russische propaganda brengt…..). Hierin het nieuws dat Jeremy Corbyn, Noam Chomsky en Japanse vredesactivisten de Sean MacBride Peace Prize 2017 hebben gewonnen.

Vreemd genoeg werd dit bericht door niet één regulier westers mediaorgaan gebracht….. Wel zeuren over ‘fake news’ of manipulatie door mediaorganen als RT en Sputnik (zonder een flinter van bewijs), maar als er een prijs wordt gewonnen door mensen die zich verzetten tegen de huidige inhumane neoliberale status quo, zijn diezelfde mediaorganen en politici niet thuis, laat staan dat men er over bericht….* Mensen dat is pas echt manipulatie van het volk, zoals die mediaorganen en politici op dagelijkse basis het volk voorliegen en belazeren……..

Onder het artikel nog de reactie van Ron, zoals die op het blog van Stan van Houcke is te lezen. Ron gaat hier in op het toekennen van de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede, die dit jaar naar ICAN ging. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been awarded the Sean MacBride Peace
Prize along with Noam Chomsky and Japanese anti-military base
activists**, yet the award received scant coverage in the British
media.

The
International Peace Bureau presents the Sean MacBride Peace Prize to
individuals, organizations or movements for their work in the areas
of peace, disarmament and human rights.

Corbyn,
along with renowned scholar Noam Chomsky and the All Okinawa Council
Against Henoko New Base, were deemed this year’s recipients. Corbyn
received his award in Geneva Friday.

The
Labour leader was recognized for his “sustained
and powerful political work for disarmament and peace.” His
longtime work with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the UK and
the Stop the War Campaign was commended, as was his efforts for
peace as a politician.

Chomsky
was recognized for his decades-long efforts supporting peace, his

* Opvallend: de laatste week merk ik, dat je bij het zoeken in het Engels op Google, alleen nog resultaten te zien krijgt, die verwijzen naar de reguliere westerse (massa-) media………

** Als ik me niet vergis de hele gemeente/stadsraad van Okinawa, die zich inzet voor de sluiting van een luchtmachtbasis van de VS en zich bezighoudt met het tegenhouden van een nieuwe VS basis in Henoko, de eerste basis wordt overigens als de gevaarlijkste ter wereld beschouwd…….

Nee,
dan de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede die gaat dit jaar naar de bizarre
trendy lobbyclub ICAN,die strijd voor het uitbannen van
kernwapens.

De onnozele directeur Beatrice Fihn van NGO-coalitie
ICAN zei afgelopen zaterdag in een interview in de Volkskrant o.a.
letterlijk het volgende:

“De kernbom is een erg
onhandig,ouderwets wapen dat niet geschikt is voor moderne
oorlogvoering(?)…
Effectieve vernietiging(?) bereik je nu
met precisieraketten, hoogwaardige technologische
cyberoorlogsvoering……..

America is één van de eerste slachtoffers in de heksenjacht op alternatieve media en nadenkend links….. Hiermee wordt eens te meer aangetoond dat de VS in feite al een politiestaat is….. Na de heksenjachten op ‘communisten’ door de fascist McCarthy in de 50er jaren, tot voor kort algemeen veroordeeld, is de tijd aangebroken voor een nieuwe heksenjacht, ofwel het Mccarthyisme is terug van weggeweest en de reguliere media ondersteunen dit met tromgeroffel…….

De aanval op RT is niet ingegeven door de zogenaamde verspreiding van Russische propaganda, maar heeft alles te maken met RT als platform voor kritiek op de ijskoude, inhumane politiek, zowel in binnen- als buitenland, die door de VS wordt gevoerd…..

In een artikel van Truthdig, dat ik op het blog van Stan Van Houcke vond, stelt journalist en professor Chris Hedges dat de VS niet langer als een democratie kan worden gezien………

Via algoritmes van Google, Facebook en Twitter wordt de gebruiker weggeleid van linkse, progressieve en anti-oorlog websites, waarin zoals gezegd grote kritiek wordt geleverd op de ijskoude inhumane neoliberale en oorlogszuchtige politiek van de VS…….. Zo zag de World Socialist Web Site zag haar internetverkeer op Google dalen met 74%!!! Google heeft op haar YouTube kanaal RT verwijderd uit haar voorkeur zenders en Twitter heeft alle reclames voor RT geblokkeerd…….

Niet vreemd dus dat Hedges stelt dat ‘linkse critici’, na marginalisering door de staat, nu volledig moeten worden genegeerd……. (wat men ‘links’ noemt in de VS, is dat in veel gevallen niet in Europa)

Veel organisaties die eerder nog de persvrijheid verdedigden zoals Human Rights Watch, the Committee to Protect Journalists, ACLU en PEN, laten zich nu gebruiken als lakeien voor het fascistische neoliberalisme. Hierbij dient nog opgemerkt te worden dat het overgrote deel van de reguliere westerse media in handen is van ofwel superrijken dan wel commerciële conglomeraten, die de pest hebben aan alles wat maar kritiek heeft op de huidige neoliberale status quo en wat naar links ruikt (u snapt dat deze twee vaak uit dezelfde hoek komen……

De aanklacht dat mediaorganen als RT Russische propaganda verspreiden is een smerig excuus om de persvrijheid volledig de nek om te draaien…… Immers nog steeds is er geen flinter bewijs voor Russische inmenging in binnenlandse politiek, zowel in de VS als de EU, terwijl men elkaar in de politiek en de reguliere media nakakelt dat dit wel zo is, heeft men keer op keer geen antwoord op de vraag naar bewijzen……

Het is in de EU overigens niet anders, men beschuldigt Rusland van het verspreiden van propaganda, zonder ook maar één voorbeeld te noemen. De reguliere (massa-) media doen hier braaf aan mee, terwijl je voor het brengen van nepnieuws, of ‘fake news’ zo u wilt, juist bergen bewijzen kan vinden in die reguliere media. Men wil simpelweg niet, dat de bevolking deze leugens kan doorprikken met feiten, die lullig genoeg nu juist op de sociale media zijn te vinden……

In
one of the most horrendous blows to press freedom since the
anti-communist witch hunts of the 1950s, the U.S. Department of
Justice has
forced the
news broadcaster RT
America to
file under the Foreign
Agents Registration Act (FARA).

The
assault on RT America, on which I host the show “On
Contact,”
has nothing to do with the dissemination of Russian propaganda. It is
driven by RT America’s decision to provide a platform to critics of
American capitalism and imperialism, critics who lambast a system of
government that can no longer be called democratic. And it is
accompanied by the installation of algorithms by Google, Facebook and
Twitter that divert readers away from left-wing, progressive and
anti-war websites, including Truthdig. The World Socialist Web Site
has seen its search traffic from Google fall by 74 percent since
April. Google, in a further blow, this month removed RT from its list
of “preferred” channels on YouTube. Twitter has blocked all
advertising by the channel.

Put
the censorship campaigns together and the message is clear: Left-wing
critics, already marginalized by the state, must be silenced.

It
would seem, given how we are locked out of the corporate media and
public broadcasting, that the assault is overkill. But the ideology
that sustains the corporate state, the “free market”
and neoliberalism has
lost all credibility. The corporate state has no counterargument to
its critics. The nakedness of corporate greed, exploitation and
repression is transparent across the political spectrum. The
ideological fortress erected by corporate power and sustained by its
courtiers in the press and academia has collapsed. All it has left is
a crude censorship.

Complicit
in this censorship is a bankrupt liberal class. The institutions
tasked with defending press freedom—including the ACLU, Human
Rights Watch, the Committee to Protect Journalists and PEN—along
with major news outlets such as The New York Times, have served as
the corporate state’s useful idiots. Only a handful of journalists,
including Truthdig
Editor in Chief Robert Scheer,
grasp and decry the very real danger before us.

The
charge that RT and these left-wing sites disseminate “foreign
propaganda” is the beginning, not the end, of a broad campaign
against press freedom. Once this precedent of state censorship is
normalized, far more tepid and compliant media outlets will be

The
venom of the state toward its critics was displayed in
a report by
the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), “Assessing Russian
Activities and Intentions in Recent U.S. Elections,” issued Jan. 6.
In the report, seven pages were specifically directed at RT America,
much of the language focused on the journalist Abby
Martin.
Martin became one of the best-known critics of the corporate state
during the Occupy movement. Her show on RT, “Breaking the Set,”
which had been off the air for nearly two years when the report was
published—a glaring error for an intelligence community awash in
budgets of tens of billions of dollars—was denounced as a
disseminator of “radical discontent.” The report complained that
RT gave airtime to third-party candidate debates. The document
attacked RT hosts for asserting that the two-party system does not
represent the views of at least one-third of the population and is a
sham. It excoriated the network for covering Black Lives Matter,
Occupy Wall Street and fracking.

The
report charged:

RT’s
reports often characterize the United States as a “surveillance
state” and allege widespread infringements of civil liberties,
police brutality, and drone use.

RT
has also focused on criticism of the US economic system, US currency
policy, alleged Wall Street greed, and the US national debt. Some of
RT’s hosts have compared the United States to Imperial Rome and
have predicted that government corruption and “corporate greed”
will lead to US financial collapse.

The
“Alice in Wonderland” quality of the report would be laughable if
it was not so ominous. The United States, in fact, is a surveillance
state. Civil liberties have been eviscerated. Police brutality is
endemic. Our drone wars have made us state terrorists. The economic
structure serves the wealthiest corporations and oligarchs. Wall
Street is run by a criminal class. Our debt is unsustainable,
especially once the dollar is no longer the world’s reserve
currency,
and like all decaying empires we are headed for collapse. The DNI
report clarifies what the ruling elites fear—not fake news but the
truth. And the truth is that the elites have destroyed the country
and are traitors to democracy.

The
DNI report was followed by a congressional hearing on “Extremist
Content and Russian Disinformation Online,” held Oct. 31.
Executives of Facebook, Twitter and Google were grilled about their
roles in distributing fake news and extremist content that in the
words of Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley included “spread[ing]
stories about abuse of black Americans by law enforcement.” The
executives promised to double down on their censorship, and they did
so.

The
ruling elites are desperately trying to shift the focus away from the
cause of the political insurgencies on the left and the right:
extreme social inequality. It is for this reason that critics who
highlight and explore the roots and causes of social inequality must
be discredited or silenced. If social inequality is accepted as the
driving force behind the decay of the American state and the mounting
rage of much of the population, then the structures that profit from
this inequality will come under assault. All the elites have left is
to paint their critics as “agents of a foreign power.”

The
United States increasingly resembles a totalitarian state. Our anemic
democracy is on life support. A reasoned debate about social
inequality or the crimes and misjudgments of empire is becoming
impossible. This presages a frightening future. There will be many
“good” Americans who, when the history of this moment is
recorded, will be responsible. And one day, to their surprise, they
too will be victims.
