Turkije’s oorlog tegen de Koerden in Syrië: media hebben niets geleerd en gaan door op de oude voet

Darius
Shahtahmasebi heeft op The Mind Unleashed een artikel over de Turkse
illegale oorlog tegen de Koerden geschreven, waarin hij o.a. stelt
dat de reguliere (massa-) media deze oorlog verslaan als onderdeel
van de oorlog tegen de regering Assad…..

Zo
moeten we volgens die media geven om de mensenrechten van de Koerden,
waar Shahtahmasebi, die het in deze heeft over de media in de VS,
stelt dat ‘we’ niet alleen over deze mensenrechten moeten nadenken, maar ook
moeten kijken wat Trump eerder flikte in Mosul (Irak) en Raqqa
(Syrië): niet luisteren naar de oproep van de VN deze steden niet aan
te vallen daar het aantal doden dan gigantisch groot zou zijn en de stad Mosul voor zo’n 80% vernietigde, volgens Shahtahmasebi kwamen
daarbij rond de 11.000 mensen om, waarna hij zegt dat dit een
conservatieve schatting is, en dat is het beste bezoeker, het zou
over dik meer dan 30.000 mensen gaan….. Irak heeft na de
‘overwinning’ grote delen van de stad gebulldozerd, zonder eerst de
doden onder het puin vandaan te halen, ofwel het waarschijnlijk grootste deel van de slachtoffers werd niet eens geteld…..

Moet je
nagaan: de VS, ofwel de Trump administratie liet de strijders van IS (ISIS) onder begeleiding vertrekken naar Syrië, om daar tegen Assad te
vechten en terreur op de Syrische bevolking uit te oefenen, deze IS
terroristen mochten van het VS terreurleger wapens, munitie en
rollend oorlogstuig meenemen…….  Deze zet werd na de vernietiging door de VS van Raqqa nog eens herhaald, grote aantallen IS terroristen kregen een vrijgeleide naar een gebied dat hoofdzakelijk door de VS werd gecontroleerd…….

We
moeten ons volgens die media in de VS richten op het schenden van de
internationale regels, terwijl ze blind zijn voor de enorme schending van internationale regels door de
VS en dat over een fiks deel van de wereld, neem de illegale
oorlogen van terreurentiteit VS tegen Afghanistan, Irak, Libië, Somalië en Jemen….. (en Syrië natuurlijk) Of wat dacht je van het opzetten van opstanden, staatsgrepen, het steken van verkiezingen elders en de massamoord middels drones (niet veroordeelde verdachten vermoorden, waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht…) Verder moeten we ons wat betreft die media vooral niet afvragen waarom de VS in de eerste
plats Syrisch grondgebied bezet….

Zoals
gezegd: ook Raqqa werd voor het grootste deel vernietigd door de VS
en weer mochten IS strijders vertrekken met wapens enz…… Hier
begaat Shahtahmasebi een kleine denkfout daar hij stelt dat de
reguliere media in de VS dit niet hebben gemeld, echter volgens mij is
dat wel zo, overal werden de beelden vertoond van de psychopathische
IS moordenaars die in grote colonne’s afreisden, met ‘zwaaiende IS vlaggen…..’ Het werd zelfs als
een logische stap gebracht daar dit onderdeel van een overeenkomst
zou zijn om zo verder bloedvergieten te voorkomen….. Echter de
werkelijkheid zag er heel anders uit, immers het grootste deel van de
aanwezige bevolking in Mosul en Raqqa kwam om het leven door de
bombardementen van de VS, ofwel onbegrijpelijk waarom dat geteisem alsnog mocht vertrekken…..

Shahtahmasebi
stelt dan ook dat één opzet van de Turkse inval (één van de ergste oorlogsmisdaden..) zou kunnen zijn, de IS
strijders te bevrijden die de Koerden gevangenhouden, de eerste grote
groep IS psychopaten zou al gevlucht zijn, inclusief de bedenker van de aanslagen in Parijs (Bataclan enz.)….. Dit zou de VS
overigens ook goed uitkomen, daar de VS meermaals smerige zaken heeft
gedaan met IS, zoals de levering van wapens, munitie (inclusief schouderraketten) en rollend oorlogstuig, zelfs het vervoeren
van terroristen vanuit Libië naar Irak werd mede door de VS gedaan, om ze daarna te begeleiden tot over de grens met Syrië…..

Shahtahmasebi stelde dat Turkije IS alleen hielp met het oplappen van gewonde strijders (iets dat Israël overigens op de Golanhoogten heeft gedaan…), echter Turkije leverde deze terreurgroep ook meermaals wapens, munitie en ander oorlogstuig, ook nam Turkije olie af van de IS terreurgroep, olie van velden in Irak en Syrië, we hebben allemaal de kilometerslange colonnes van tankwagens kunnen zien op foto en in filmbeelden…… Voorts is het opvallend rustig over het feit dat Turkije samen met terreurgroepen vecht tegen de Koerden….

Waar
Shahtahmasebi zeker zijn gelijk haalt is de uiterst hypocriete
politiek in de VS die zich wel druk maakt over een telefoontje van
Trump en dat als een reden tot impeachment ziet, terwijl de smerige misdaden door de VS gepleegd in (onder andere) Syrië geen ophef geven….. Overigens niet zo vreemd als je
nagaat dat de democratische Obama administratie de opstand, die tot
de oorlog in Syrië leidde, heeft georganiseerd en geregisseerd…..
Ofwel: als de democraten Trump gaan aanvallen over wat er in Syrië en
Irak is gebeurd, moeten ze ook naar de Obama administratie wijzen en
dan wordt e.e.a. wel behoorlijk ongeloofwaardig……

Volgens
Shahtahmasebi moeten we naar de VS kijken dat intussen meer dan 22,5
miljoen doden maakte in de illegale oorlogen tegen Vietnam, Laos,
Cambodja, Panama, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en ga nog maar
een tijdje door……. Ben het uiteraard eens met hem, echter dat wil
niet zeggen dat je Turkije haar gang moet laten gaan, dit
moorddadige regime moet sinds het begin van de oorlog in Syrië, daar intussen al duizenden doden hebben gemaakt (deze inval staat vooral niet op zichzelf…..)

Overigens
zijn Turkse troepen zo ongelofelijk dom geweest om een legerplaats
van ‘special US forces’ te bombarderen…. Daarmee kwam meteen een
eind aan alle gelul in de media dat Tump alle militairen heeft
weggehaald uit ten eerste het gebied in Noord-Syrië dat Turkije
aanvalt, maar ook uit heel Syrië….. Zoals te verwachten was
blijven er ‘gewoon’ troepen van de VS in Syrië, ook in het gebied dat Turkije
aanvalt….. Ofwel Trump heeft Erdogan carte blanche gegeven om de Koerden aan te pakken……. Je kan er dan ook donder op zeggen dat Trump een deal
heeft gemaakt met Erdogan dat de Russische raketten voor Turkije niet
doorgaan, althans het zou me niet verbazen…. Wel laat Trump hiermee zien
dat hij een nog smeriger verrader is dan we al dachten, door de
Koerden te laten barsten…..

Waarom is er onder de NAVO-lidstaten die zo tegen de Turkse inval in Syrië zijn niet een oproep om deze psychopathisch agressieve NAVO-lidstaat uit het bondgenootschap te zetten??? Simpel omdat ze niet willen dat Turkije eruit gezet wordt en daarvoor is de VS de hoofdverantwoordelijke, immers de VS vindt het gebied dat Turkije beslaat van te groot strategisch belang….. Wel een grote bek opzetten maar geen maatregelen tegen Turkije nemen…… Zelfs al zouden een aantal NAVO-lidstaten besluiten dat er sancties genomen moeten worden tegen Turkije, zal men die op zeker niet zo fanatiek naleven als de sancties die zonder de VN tegen Syrië werden ingesteld……

Intussen heeft Turkije de laatste maanden al een fiks aantal vluchtelingen laten gaan naar de Griekse eilanden, niet voor niets dat Erdogan de EU lidstaten, die commentaar leverden op de inval in Syrië, dreigde de poorten voor de vluchtelingen richting EU open te zetten…… Kortom de voorbereiding tot deze illegale inval is niet van vandaag of gisteren en dat moeten de EU en de VS al lang hebben begrepen, des te lulliger dat men Turkije zo lang haar gang heeft laten gaan en zelfs heeft toegestaan dat Turkije de grens met Syrië overstak, zelfs met special forces van de VS in het gebied………

Turkey Attack Kurds Syria

(TMU Op-Ed) —
Turkey’s offensive into Syria bears all the hallmarks of a
potential crime. It is also has the added uncertain elements of a
potential regrouping
of the remnants of the Islamic State’s caliphate,
as thousands of prisoners could end up being freed once key positions
are abandoned by Kurdish forces, or overrun by Turkey.

Yet
no one seems to be asking if in fact this is one of the covert aims
of the offensive, given Turkey has been heavily documented as
a key backer of ISIS forces in Syria for years. Sounds absurd, but we
are talking about a regime who was caught providing ISIS fighters
with medical
treatment.

Still,
the media’s framing of this offensive seems to be part and parcel
of its overall coverage of the Syrian war since 2011. We should care
about the human rights of the Kurds when faced with a rapidly
advancing Turkish onslaught, but when US president Donald Trump
systematically brought about the
death of between 9,000
and 11,000 civilians
in Mosul,
we are supposed to turn a blind eye. (11,000 is still a conservative
estimate).

We
should care about Turkey violating international law, but should not
even question the United States for equally violating international
law right across the geopolitical chessboard. We should accuse Donald
Trump of abandoning our Kurdish allies by removing its forces from
the region, yet we shouldn’t question why or how
the US came to occupy sovereign Syrian territory in the first place.

Under
the Trump administration, the US
military came to occupy close
to one third of Syrian territory,
including its most oil rich region. In the process of doing so, the
US razed 80 per cent of the Syrian city of Raqqa to the ground, with
countless civilian deaths. Even during this offensive, both the BBC
and Reuters reported that the
US made a secret deal with ISIS to
allow hundreds (if not thousands) of its top level commanders to
escape Raqqa quite safely.

This
is easily one of the biggest scandals of Trump’s legacy; yet no one
even talks about it. How can it be that the mainstream media is
concerned with a potential re-emergence of ISIS, without even
discussing these damning reports?

Likewise,
how can it be that the only scandal worth considering the impeachment
of this violently law-breaking administration be a phone call with
the Ukrainian leadership?

For
as long as most of us can remember, the US has racked up a monumental
civilian death toll in a number of ill-begotten wars across the
planet. Whether Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia or
Yemen, the
US has killed millions of
innocent civilians. In
this period, civilian deaths have not only been normalized, but they
have been accelerating under Trump’s
rule,
particularly in Syria. It is easy to point the finger at Turkey’s
Erdogan, but we could likewise point the finger at Trump for
committing massacres left, right and centre.

If
the mounting death toll is anything to go by, it does appear that the
US did effectively abandon its Kurdish allies after relying on them
to help defeat ISIS forces. Ankara’s systemic hatred of the Kurdish
independence movement means we cannot be indifferent to the suffering
and violence they will be forced to undergo.

But
if we are to care about human rights, we need to care about them
right across the board, including and especially when it is the US
launching offensives and delivering the missiles. Maybe if we did,
Turkey and other parties involved in Syria might actually take our
humanitarian concerns seriously.

Yemen would
be the perfect place to start (which as you will note, fails to
receive the headlines that the Turkey-Syria offensive appears to be
receiving).

Rusland heeft VS gewaarschuwd Iran niet aan te vallen

Vorige
maand vond er een bespreking plaats over Iran, een bespreking tussen
ambtenaren van de VS, Israël en Rusland, met de opzet Rusland te
winnen voor, dan wel het land te pressen geen actie te ondernemen als
de VS en Israël Iran aanvallen…..

Gelukkig
heeft Rusland daar helemaal geen baat bij en dit land gebruikte de
ontmoeting om te pleiten voor het stabiliseren van Syrië, waar de VS
volkomen illegaal militaire bases heeft ingericht. Het hoofd van de Russische
Veiligheidsraad, Nikolay Patrushev hield de VS en Israël verder voor
dat Iran volkomen legaal in Syrië aanwezig is, op uitnodiging van deze soevereine staat en haar democratisch gekozen president Assad,
waar Iran zich bezighoudt met het bestrijden van terreur.

Putin
zou Trump in een lang telefoongesprek nog eens op het hart hebben
gedrukt Iran niet aan te vallen, daar dit desastreuze gevolgen zal
hebben in de regio, een regio die al bol staat van oorlogsellende veroorzaakt door terreurentiteit VS en haar oorlogshond, terreurorganisatie NAVO……

Hier moet ik nog opmerken dat de VS met haar sancties al minstens 40.000 Iraniërs heeft vermoord en te vrezen valt dat dit aantal nog veel verder zal stijgen, daar de VS niet van zins is haar illegale sancties tegen dit land op te heffen, ook al is de reden daarvoor gebaseerd op grove leugens….. Ofwel: in feite voert de VS al een illegale oorlog tegen Iran, een illegale oorlog die bestaat uit grootschalige economische terreur……. 

Overigens ook Rusland is slachtoffer van deze economische oorlogsvoering, die mede door de EU wordt uitgeoefend en dat op basis van even grote leugens, zoals de aanname dat Rusland de dader is van het neerhalen van MH17, een aanname gebaseerd op een uiterst slecht onderzoek dat alleen gericht was en is op het aanwijzen van Rusland als de dader, een onderzoek dat zelfs de Maleisische premier als onzin heeft weggezet….. 

Een andere zaak is de leugen dat Rusland De Krim heeft geannexeerd, terwijl 2 minuten onderzoek aangeeft dat de bevolking van De Krim, inclusief de oorspronkelijke bevolking, zich massaal heeft uitgesproken voor aansluiting bij Rusland…….* Dit nadat de door hen democratisch gekozen Oekraïense president, Viktor Janoekovytsj, middels een door de VS georganiseerde bloedige opstand werd afgezet en vervangen door een zwaar corrupte VS-neonazi-marionet, t.w. Porosjenko……. Zou jij willen leven in een land dat door neonazi’s wordt geregeerd, waar de mede door jou democratisch gekozen president werd afgezet?

Russia
Has Issued a Warning to the US About Attacking Iran

The
U.S. and Israel have failed to persuade Russia to alter its stance on
Iran, particularly when it comes to Syria.

Russia Warning US Iran

(TMU Op-Ed) —
Many reports have
indicated that the U.S. and Israel have been attempting to persuade
Russia to alter its stance on Iran, particularly when it comes to
Syria. Just last month, national security officials from Russia,
Israel and the U.S. met for a rare summit which focused solely on
Iran.

While
this may have been a tense
situation for
Iran to watch from the background, it appeared that Russia was never
really on board with the proposal directly from the outset.

For
example, Russia decided to reframe the talks with a focus of
“stabilizing Syria” as opposed to making the entire situation
about Iran. Russia’s Security Council head, Nikolai Patrushev,
openly said it would push for Iran’s interests to be respected,
stating that “Iran
is in Syria at the invitation of the legitimate government and is
actively involved in fighting terrorism.”

For various
reasons,
Russia is unlikely to concede to the U.S. and most media outlets are
likely not to venture into why, even when it comes to the question of
Syria. As one analyst has summarized this
issue, the US-Israel position on Iran is “wishful
thinking.”

Amid
recent tensions and a potential standoff between the U.S. and Iran,
it should be clear that the U.S. and Israel have unsuccessfully
swayed Russia from changing its tack with regard to Iran at all—at
least as far as the international public should be concerned.

Approximately
a month ago, a senior Russian diplomat said that
Tehran “won’t
be alone” if
the U.S. decides to strike Iran. Stating that “it’s
not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with
Iran.” Zamir
Kabulov concluded that, “Tehran
won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid takes wild and irresponsible
actions against it.”

Russian
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also released a statement indicating
that Moscow will attempt to initiate dialogue between Washington and
Tehran, but this of course “assumes
the end to the policy of ultimatums, sanctions and blackmail.”

While
grossly underreported, and as it may help feed into the ludicrous
narrative that
“Trump
takes his orders from Putin”,
approximately one month ago Russian President Vladimir Putin himself
allegedly phoned U.S.
President Donald Trump, warning
him not to use military force against Tehran. In
a phone conversation that apparently lasted four hours, Putin warned
that a U.S.
attack on Iran would have enormous consequences which would spread
across the region.

Putin
also pointed out that Iran had been honoring its side of the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and stated that he considers
American-enforced sanctions targeting Iran unfounded.

And
when it comes to the question specifically of ejecting Iran from
Syria, Putin allegedly responded by saying “we
aren’t trading in our allies, our interests and our principles.”

The
evidence before us suggests that Russia will not be so quick to
abandon its Iranian ally, the reasons for which could be attributed
to a variety of factors. In the immediate future, Russia’s defense
of Iran may help to hold off another disastrous war for as long a
period as realistically possible.

And
maybe if the U.S. truly wanted Russia to make concessions of its own
regarding its close allies in the Middle East region, perhaps the
U.S. should stop sanctioning and punishing Russia as well, as U.S.
and E.U. sanctions on Russia have cost Moscow approximately $50
billion since 2014.

VS vermoordt Iraniërs door sancties waar zelfs medicijnen op de boycotlijst staan

Darius Shahtahmasebi heeft een artikel
op The Mind Unleashed (TMU) geschreven over de terreursancties van de
VS in haar illegale economische oorlog tegen Iran.

Na raadpleging van een oud verdrag uit 1955 tussen de VS en Iran, sprak het Internationaal Gerechtshof recht in deze zaak. De naam van het verdrag: Amity,
Economic Relations and ConsularRights (in Nederlands ongeveer: verdrag
van vriendschap, economische betrekkingen en diplomatieke rechten; kan de Nederlandse versie niet vinden op het net). Iran heeft bij
het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ook: Internationaal Hof van Justitie) op grond van dat verdrag een
klacht ingediend en werd eind vorig jaar door een onafhankelijke rechter in het gelijk gesteld. waarbij
het Hof de VS opdroeg te stoppen met de sancties…… 

De VS heeft
destijds dit verdrag getekend en zoals te verwachten was van de
psychopathisch fascistische Trump administratie, heeft de VS dit
verdrag meteen opgezegd, met andere woorden: de VS heeft schijt aan dit
verdrag en gaat door met haar terreur……. De westerse reguliere media en het grootste deel van westerse politici reageren niet eens op de uitspraak van de rechter, doen net of de neus bloedt en kijken weg terwijl ze moeten weten dat e.e.a. mensenlevens kost….. 

De
toestand in Iran verslechtert met de dag en je kan niet anders stellen
dan dat de VS met haar sancties daadwerkelijk een groot aantal Iraniërs vermoordt, ofwel de economische oorlog tegen Iran is in
feite al in een echte ‘hete’ oorlog veranderd…….. Het lijkt wel alsof
men in de VS net als in Israël blij is met het doden van Iraniërs, waar in Israël onlangs een minister liep op te scheppen over het vermoorden van Iraniërs door Israël….. Denk aan de woorden van de neoliberale oorlogshoer
Madeleine Albright (eertijds ‘democratisch’ minister van BuZa onder Clinton), die desgevraagd liet weten nog steeds achter de illegale sancties van de VS tegen Irak te staan….. Ze had zelfs het gore lef te
stellen dat de 500.000 Iraakse kinderen die overleden als gevolg van
die sancties het offer meer dan waard waren…….

De
hoogste tijd dat de wereld gaat optreden tegen de grootste
terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS, dat na 1945 tot nu toe meer dan 22,5
miljoen mensen heeft vermoord*
in o.a. illegale oorlogen, geheime militaire/CIA acties,
standrechtelijke executies middels drones en in door de CIA
georganiseerde opstanden, met de opzet een regime wissel te forceren,
ofwel een coup te plegen, dan wel met het leger van een bepaald land de staatsgreep direct uit te voeren……

The
Real Iran Scandal That No One is Talking About

Here’s
what you need to know about the real Iran scandal:

Real Iran Scandal

(TMU Op-Ed) —
There has been a lot of media attention on Iran lately and most of
that attention has focused on the recent activities in the Gulf,
which have almost become a foreign policy scandal of sorts. For
example, after Iran reportedly shot down a U.S. drone that was either
traveling in Iranian airspace or very close to it, the Trump
administration allegedly drew up a plan to strike Iran in response,
only to have Trump pull the plug on the very last minute. By all
accounts, this is a somewhat bogus notion,
but we still cannot rule it out as a possibility.

Had
the exchange of missiles taken place, it would have been one of the
more newsworthy events of an already daily newsworthy administration
run by Trump himself. And as the weeks go by, developments in
the region continue to play out with no immediate end or means
of diffusion
or de-escalationcurrently
in sight.

However,
the real scandal of this whole crisis that we should be focused on,
is the imposition of sanctions against Iran in contravention of the
Iranian nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action (JCPOA), which has continued to escalate ever since Trump
formally reneged on the JCPOA last year. It should be a scandal not
just because Iran was being certified as compliant with the terms of
the JCPOA on a regular basis, but also because the aim of the
sanctions is to strangle Iran’s government into collapsing.

This
particular predicament was summarized brilliantly
in a recent article in the Atlantic:

“This
summer, tankers are exploding, disappearing, or getting seized near
the Gulf; drones are getting destroyed in
tit-for-tat attacks; and a war of words and tweets is erupting
between Donald Trump and Iran’s supreme leader. That’s where all
the drama is, but in fact most of America’s punitive actions
against Iran are taking place in a world not physical but financial.
Sanctions are the key tool the United States uses against what it
sees as the Islamic Republic’s provocative behavior—especially
for the past three presidential administrations running, and never
more so than in this one.”

In
the latter part of last year, the International Court of Justice
(ICJ) delivered a
preliminary ruling in proceedings brought before it by Iran under the
1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights whereby
the ICJ essentially told the U.S. to lift sanctions on Iran which
were linked to humanitarian goods and civil aviation. In
its statement,
the ICJ said that:

“The
Court further considers that restrictions on the importation and
purchase of goods required for humanitarian needs, such as foodstuffs
and medicines, including life-saving medicines, treatment for chronic
disease or preventive care, and medical equipment, may have a serious
detrimental impact on the health and lives of individuals on the
territory of Iran.”

The
U.S. responded by announcing it would pull out of the Treaty of Amity
and the rest of the world barely blinked, even though it was becoming
painfully obvious that Iranians were being
killed by
U.S. foreign policy simply due to being unable to receive basic
medicines. Even now, the fact that the U.S. breached the JCPOA first
and hit Iran as hard as it could with sanctions, even in light of a
legally binding ICJ decision, barely passes a mention.

According
to most
reports, Iranian oil exports are down to 200,000 barrels a month, and
this is likely to decrease further as the U.S. treasury finds new and
more creative ways of attempting to cripple Iran’s economy. Just
this week, the U.S. slapped sanctions on
a major Chinese company for buying Iranian oil, which Secretary of
State Mike Pompeo openly acknowledged were “part
of our maximum pressure campaign”
on Iran.

And
guess what—the maximum pressure is eventually going to work. In
order to keep its economy afloat, most analysts say Iran needs to be
exporting, at the very minimum, 600,000 barrels a month. As the U.S.
continues to hit anyone and everyone left who may be even daring to
import Iranian oil, Iran’s government may very well be looking at
liquidation.

Let’s
be honest, cryptocurrencies are
not going to save Iran’s economy. The only real shot Iran has of
not collapsing, is a successful mechanism set up by the E.U. which
would help Iran bypass U.S. sanctions. Given the U.K. is helping to
seize Iranian ships carrying oil with little to no comment from the
E.U. at all—it would be foolish to put much hope in their hands to
help diffuse this crisis and prevent yet another Middle Eastern
country from toppling over and plunging into chaos.

The
real scandal of the so-called “Iran crisis” is not that Trump may
one day kill Iranians (or that Iranians may respond and kill U.S. or
U.K. personnel)—it is that Trump is already killing more Iranians
than we could hope to monitor through its draconian sanctions regime.
Even an Israeli minister has openly bragged about how many Iranians
Israel has killed in
recent times—a perverse statement to which the rest of the world
has shrugged its shoulders.

Sanctions
are always a
precursor to overt war. While the physical war has not begun for the
ordinary American, Iran is already at war and under economic attack
from the U.S. and its close allies, facing no less than a complete
collapse of its economy. Diffusing and de-escalating the crisis
taking place in the Strait of Hormuz should be a priority, of course,
but would not even be necessary if we tackled the root cause of the
current situation, which continues to spiral out of control quietly
behind the scenes.

De
grootste terreurentiteit op onze kleine aarde, de VS, heeft niet
alleen West-Mosul in Irak zo goed als platgebombardeerd, wat bij Angelina Jolie de uitspraak ontlokte dat ze nimmer een dergelijke
vernietiging zag*, maar ook het Syrische Raqqa werd voor een heel groot deel door VS bombardementen vernietigd…….

In
beide gevallen smeekte de VN en een paar landen die wel menselijke
regeringen hebben, de VS te stoppen met die bombardementen, daar
vooral de burgers van die steden werden getroffen…. De VS deed
niets op die smeekbedes en ging gewoon door met willens en wetens vermoorden van vooral burgers…… 

In West-Mosul is
een enorm aantal burgers vermoord met die bombardementen van vooral
de VS…. Hun aantal was zo groot dat de terreurregering van Irak
besloot de slachtoffers niet te bergen, maar hen te bulldozeren
onder het puin van de huizenblokken, dit om het ‘officiële’ aantal dodelijke burgerslachtoffers
zo laag mogelijk te houden…….

Volgens deskundigen zijn in West-Mosul meer dan 20.000 burgers vermoord, echter dit natrekken is zoals je begrijpt onmogelijk, het werkelijke aantal vermoorde burgers zullen we dan ook nooit weten……

Vreemd
genoeg mochten destijds tijdens die bombardementen IS strijders de
stad verlaten, waarna ze onder begeleiding van de Irak coalitie naar
de grens met Syrië werden gebracht…… (om in dat land tegen Assad te vechten) Ofwel men bombardeerde een stad met het doel terroristen uit te schakelen, laat vervolgens een groot deel van hen
vertrekken en bombardeert vervolgens vrolijk door tot de stad geheel
in handen was van die moorddadige Irak coalitie (onder regie van vooral de VS)………

Hetzelfde
heeft zich afgespeeld in Raqqa, waar men eerder sprak over honderden
IS strijders en hun familie die mochten vertrekken, blijkt het na onderzoek om
duizenden te gaan…… Ook daar ging de VS door met bombardementen
op de stad, terwijl het overgrote deel van de strijders al was
vertrokken, ofwel de VS bombardeerde vooral de bewoners die niets te
maken hadden met IS of andere terreurgroepen……

Gelukkig
haalt de schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, Darius
Shahtahmasebi, Aleppo aan en dan m.n. de bevrijding van Oost-Aleppo. Het
Syrische leger en de Russen hebben destijds besloten, 2 maanden voor
de uiteindelijke bevrijding, te stoppen met bombardementen, juist om
zoveel mogelijk burgerslachtoffers te voorkomen….. 

De reguliere
westerse media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici
schreeuwden destijds echter moord en brand over de bevrijding va, die men in het westen liefkozend ‘gematigde rebellen’ noemt…… De hysterische reacties van die media en politici waren vooral gebaseerd op berichtgeving die door
de terreurgroepen naar buiten werd gebracht, ofwel een dik pak
leugens, veelal ‘geserveerd’ door het SOHR (Syrische Observatorium voor
Mensenrechten), geleid door een gevluchte Syrische misdadiger die
met de leugen dat hij een politiek vluchteling was, asiel verkreeg in
Groot-Brittannië….

Zoals
bij alle steden die het reguliere Syrische leger bevrijdde van
islam-terreur, was de bevolking van Oost-Aleppo dolblij met hun
bevrijders, na deze bevrijding keerde een groot deel van de gevluchte burgers
terug naar hun stad…… Het voorgaande volkomen in tegenstelling tot West-Mosul en Raqqa, daar er niets is om naar terug te keren……..

The
US Annihilated Raqqa While Allowing Thousands of Terrorists to Escape
— Why?

(ET) — Amnesty
International released an explosive report last
week, which described the US-led coalition’s disproportionate and
indiscriminate war in Raqqa as the US-led “war of annihilation”.

The
report confirmed what some people have suspected for a while but few
have dared to even talk about. Namely, that the United States and its
allies have completely
destroyed a
Syrian city, and left almost nothing but death and destruction in
their wake.

In
coming to its conclusion, Amnesty researchers visited 42 coalition
air strike sites across the city and interviewed 112 civilian
residents who had survived the ordeal. The results of their
investigation shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has been paying
attention, as approximately a year ago, Reuters described the
plight of one resident in Raqqa who found several of his neighbours
lying dead on the street, with cats eating the corpses.

The
report even details four cases of civilian families who, between
them, lost 90 relatives and neighbours. One family lost 39 in total,
all of them allegedly killed by coalition air strikes. This would
also not be a surprise to anyone who cared enough to follow this
story closely, particularly with the Intercept’s
shocking article last year titled,
‘Entire families are being killed by US airstrikes in Raqqa,
Syria’.

To
be fair, US President Donald Trump did once
say he
would “take out” the families of Islamic
State (IS)
fighters. He also once
asked the
CIA why they delayed an air strike on a terrorist target so as to
avoid hitting the house with his family inside it. In other words,
the Commander-in-Chief of the world’s military superpower doesn’t
have a clue how international humanitarian law works.

“When
so many civilians are killed in attack after attack, something is
clearly wrong, and to make this tragedy worse, so many months later
the incidents have not been investigated. The victims deserve
justice. The Coalition’s claims that its precision air campaign
allowed it to bomb IS out of Raqqa while causing very few civilian
casualties do not stand up to scrutiny. On the ground in Raqqa, we
witnessed a level of destruction comparable to anything we’ve seen
in decades of covering the impact of wars,” said Donatella
Rovera, Senior Crisis Response Adviser at Amnesty International.

Most credible
estimates of
the assessment of the damage done to Raqqa are that a whopping 80% of
Raqqa was uninhabitable after the US had supposedly “liberated”
its population. This isn’t something the American media even took
on with a conscience, or even felt the need to apologise for; this
was something they actively bragged about.

“Looking
at photographs of the ruined, desolate streets of what was once the
Islamic State’s capital of Raqqa is a reminder of the overwhelming,
pitilessly effective military power of the United
States,” bragged the Washington
Post’s David Ignatius in an op-ed last year. “The heaps
of rubble in Raqqa that once housed terrorists and torturers convey a
bedrock lesson, as valid now as in 1945: It’s a mistake to
provoke the United States. It may take the country a while to
respond to a threat, but once the machine of US power is engaged,
it’s relentless – so long as the political will exists to sustain
it,”Ignatius
continued.

For
all of Bashar al Assad’s flaws, and despite all of the mounting
allegations of war crimes against him, after Russia and Syria retook
the city of Aleppo in 2016, hundreds of thousands of
refugees returned back
to live in the city. An Aleppo cathedral even reopened last
year with a classical concert (the US-backed rebels occupying Aleppo
previously were not big on religious diversity). I don’t know about
you, but I haven’t heard of any concerts taking place in Raqqa thus
far.

But
here is where things get even more disturbing. On November 13, 2017,
the BBC dropped
a bombshell report exposing
how the US cut a secret deal with “hundreds” of IS fighters and
their families to leave the Syrian city of Raqqa under the “gaze of
the US and British-led coalition and Kurdish-led forces who control
the city”. The
US even
allegedly allowed the escape of some of IS’ “most notorious”
members, as well as its foreign fighters and tonnes of weapons and
ammunition.

Almost
a month later, Reuters took
the story even further and reported that
a high-level defector from the Kurdish-led forces in Syria had
revealed that the number of IS fighters given safe passage was
actually in the thousands, not hundreds. This account was then
seconded by a security official in Turkey.

So,
on the one hand, you have the US exacting all of its military might
and power to completely raze Raqqa to the ground, while on the other,
they were doing all of this while allowing their alleged targets to
escape safely. This ultimately begs the question: who were they
trying to kill that entire time? What crime did the residents of
Raqqa commit that they had to suffer and endure this criminal
behaviour?

It
also cannot be overlooked that the US did all of this without
any discernible
legal basis.
For those of you who need this spelt out: the US does not have any
legal mandate to conduct military operations in Syria. This is not
some secret or mere mistake or accident, the US government’s own
lawyers have been advising them of this, even under the Obama
administration.

But
don’t take my word for it. Speaking to Syrian opposition members at
a meeting that took place at the Dutch mission to the United Nations
(UN), then Secretary of State John Kerry stated,

“The
problem is that the Russians don’t care about international law,
but we do. And we don’t have the basis – our lawyers tell us –
unless we have the UN Security Council Resolution, which the Russians
can veto, and the
Chinese,
or unless we are under attack from the folks there, or unless we are
invited in. Russia is
invited in by the legitimate regime – well it’s illegitimate in
our mind – but by the regime. And so they were invited in and we
are not invited in.

We’re
flying in an airspace there where they can turn on the air defences
and we would have a very different scene. The only reason they are
letting us fly is because we are going after IS. If we were going
after Assad, those air defences, we would have to take out all the
air defences, and we don’t have the legal justification, frankly,
unless we stretch it way beyond the law.”

Despite
having this knowledge, it didn’t stop the US from doing what it
does best – accounting for at least 90% of the strikes on Raqqa.
Ignatius is wrong: it is not a mistake to provoke the United States.
Raqqa never provoked anyone. Just like Vietnam, Libya,
Korea, Iraq and
everywhere else before it, it joins a long list of territories forced
to pay the highest price for reasons that cannot and will not ever be
justified, let alone investigated by the United States.

Indonesië, gesteund door VS en Australië, voert genocide uit op West-Papoea………

Indonesië voert een langzame genocide uit op de oorspronkelijke bewoners van
het westelijk deel van Nieuw-Guinea, ofwel ‘de Indonesische provincies’ Papoea en West-Papoea…..

Sinds
1961 zijn er meer dan 500.000 Papoea’s vermoord door het
Indonesische leger en door import-Indonesiërs, die hoofdzakelijk
moslim zijn, terwijl de oorspronkelijke bevolking voor het merendeel
christelijk is. De Australische organisatie ‘Brisbane Archdiocese’s
Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (BACJP) spreekt over een
vertraagde genocide ofwel een genocide op termijn……..

De grote
schuldige is volgens de BACJP het Indonesische leger dat op alle
mogelijke manieren wordt gesteund en beschermd door de grootste
terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS. Australië onderhoudt tevens goede
banden met Indonesië en haar uiterst fanatieke leger. Berichten over
de moorden begaan door het Indonesische leger worden amper of niet
genoemd in de reguliere media van Australië en de VS (en de rest van
de reguliere westerse media)…. Over de VS gesproken: een firma uit de VS baat een goudmijn uit op West-Papoea en zou de grootste Indonesische belastingbetaler zijn……. Niet vreemd dus dat Indonesië niet van West-Papoea af wil en het leger zo hard optreedt tegen Papoea’s……… (neokolonialisme van de bovenste plank….)

Het
indonesische leger begaat de ene oorlogsmisdaad, na de ander. Volgens
de top van dat leger is men op zoek naar onafhankelijkheidsstrijders,
echter gezien de slachtoffers (o.a. door bombardementen en bloedbaden) is iedereen
daar een onafhankelijkheidsstrijder…… Die constatering klopt op
één punt: ruim 70% van de bevolking op Papoa en West-Papoea is voor
onafhankelijkheid, zo bleek uit een petitie……. Het hieronder opgenomen artikel noemt het niet, maar de overige 30% bestaat voor het
merendeel uit import-Indonesiërs.

Over dat laatste gesproken, de import van Indonesiërs op het westelijk deel van het eiland, is niets anders dan een langzame etnische zuivering, anders gezegd: door zoveel mogelijk Indonesiërs op het westelijk deel van Nieuw-Guinea te introduceren zal de Papoea bevolking op den duur worden overvleugeld door het aantal Indonesiërs……. De moord op de Papoea’s versterkt dit Indonesische streven alleen maar, langzaam maar zeker worden deze oorspronkelijke bewoners uitgemoord door het Indonesische leger en door doodseskaders van de import-Indonesiërs (doodseskaders o.a. gevuld met politieagenten en militairen)……. Het is dan ook de hoogste tijd dat West-Papoea haar onafhankelijkheid verkrijgt!

Indonesië laat amper buitenlanders toe op Papoea en West-Papoea, één van de
redenen dat er amper wordt bericht in het westen over de uitzichtloze
situatie van de Papoea’s. Die geringe belangstelling heeft zeker ook
te maken met de houding van Australië en de VS t.a.v. de Indonesische
regering, zoals hiervoor beschreven.

Toch
blijft het uitermate wrang dat men hysterisch op de kop gaat staan
als er weer een leugen opduikt over ‘wangedrag’ van het Syrische
leger, terwijl het Indonesische leger erop los kan moorden……. Neem alleen al de oorlog die Indonesië voerde tegen de bevolking van
Oost-Timor: destijds duurde het maanden voordat men eindelijk
aandacht schonk aan de noodkreet van de bevolking die door Indonesië werd uitgemoord….. Uiteindelijk was daar de moord op de Nederlandse
journalist Sander Thoenes voor nodig, de dood van een journalist waar men heden ten dage nog amper van opkijkt……

Mensen de lamlendige houding van westerse regeringen, waaronder de Nederlandse, is ronduit schandalig, het smerige optreden van het Indonesische leger op West-Timor is een zaak die al jaren voortsleept en zou minstens bij het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken bekend moeten zijn!!

(ANTIMEDIA) — In
May 2016, a fact-finding mission conducted by the Brisbane
Archdiocese’s Catholic Justice and Peace Commission reported that
West Papua was experiencing a “slow-motion
genocide.”
The report also warned that West Papua’s indigenous population is
at risk of becoming “an
anthropological museum exhibit of a bygone culture.”

The
culprit behind these atrocities is none other than the Indonesian
military, which has long received immense
protection from
the United States, as well as from regional allies like Australia.
Rather than withdrawing its support for the practice of wiping out
the victims in West Papua, these countries continue to enable
Indonesia as it carries out numerous atrocities, which receive close
to zero media coverage.

For
example, just last month the Jakarta
Post reported that
the Indonesian military shot dead a parishioner standing on his
church’s front porch, injuring three other parishioners as hundreds
of villagers were forced to flee into nearby forests.

“His
name was Timotius Omabak, he was shot and killed recently during
Indonesian military raids in West Papuan villages,” the
Free West Papua Campaign (FWPC) told Anti-Media via
email.

“When
the Indonesian army arrives in the villages people are scared. People
often run and hide in churches, but the military will chase them. The
Indonesian military claim they are hunting for people who support
independence, but in reality, almost everyone in these areas supports
independence. Recently, the West Papuans people’s petition, calling
for an internationally supervised vote on independence, was signed by
1.8 million West Papuan people, 70% of the population. How can the
Indonesian military hunt for people who support independence when an
overwhelming majority of people support independence? These instances
are part and parcel of daily life while there is Indonesian rule in
West Papua. They have gone on for over 50 years and will only stop
when the Indonesian military finally leaves.”

A
recent Facebook post
purporting to
show a bombing raid by Indonesian forces (also completely ignored by
the corporate media) is apparently a common occurrence for the
subjugated people of West Papua.

“The
bombing of West Papuan villages by the Indonesian military is nothing
new,” FWPC
explained to Anti-Media.

“Over
the last 50 years, countless thousands of West Papuans have been
killed by Indonesian bombs. We received reports that the Indonesian
military had fired rockets into some West Papuan villages around the
Freeport mine area. It was reported that two people had been killed.
There is no international media presence in the area so it remains
very difficult to find out exactly what happened. The Indonesian
military keeps tight control of who goes anywhere in the area. The
FWPC urges all international media to go to the area where the
Indonesian military is carrying out its operations to find out the
truth from local people on the ground.”

Indonesia
has a long, documented history of blocking reporting on its
activities in Papua. Earlier this year, the Indonesian
military forced a BBC journalist to
leave Papua and
return to Jakarta after her statements on Twitter “hurt soldiers’
feelings.”

At
least 500,000 West
Papuans have been killed by the Indonesian military since 1961.
Remember this statistic when the media urges you to believe that
people like Donald Trump care about the death toll in Syria and
elsewhere, all while the U.S. ignores staggering casualties caused by
one of its Indo-Pacific allies.

“It’s
difficult to understand sometimes why West Papua is not in the
international news,” FWPC
also added.

“Many
other places in the world are on the international news, but not West
Papua. In the history of the world over the last 50 years, West Papua
is one of the big injustices with so many people killed, but still
today many people have never heard about West Papua. The Indonesian
government has always been able to hide what it has done in West
Papua, but now, in the internet age, they can no longer hide.
Gradually the world is finding out the truth about West Papua. We
hope that international media can get to West Papua and help expose
the truth.”

The
reason this conflict typically receives close to zero media coverage
is simple. West Papua is home
to one of the world’s largest gold
mines (and third largest copper mine), known as the Grasberg Mine,
which is majority-owned by the American mining firm Freeport McMoRan.
The mine has reserves worth an estimated $100
billion, and the American company is reportedly Indonesia’s biggest
taxpayer – hence the cover from the Indonesian military.

“The
West Papuan people always continue our struggle for our right to
self-determination, decolonisation, and independence,” FWPC
articulated to Anti-Media.

“For
55 years we struggled, and still today we continue. We may be slow in
getting there, but we will get there in the end. We hope all the
world can study the history of West Papua and understand why we have
the right to self-determination, an internationally supervised vote,
a referendum on independence. We hope that all people of the world,
wherever they are, can find their own way to support us in our
struggle. One day we will be free people.”

VS, de werelddictator: Iran-deal is van nul en generlei waarde (op basis van leugens en achterklap)…….

Hoorde
vannacht op BBC World Service (radionieuws van 00.30 u.) dat Trump de
Iran deal naast zich neerlegt en Iran de zwaarste sancties oplegt,
precies zoals de verwachting was……. De wereld staat intussen op de kop, daar de VS in feite uitmaakt wie er wel of niet mag handelen en met wie, kortom: als de VS sancties tegen Iran instellen hebben alle bedrijven, uit welk land dan ook zich te houden aan wat de dictator van de wereld, ofwel de VS voorschrijft, zoniet……….

Dit
alles gebaseerd op aantoonbare leugens, zoals de leugen dat Iran in
het geniep aan een kernwapen werkt…. De VN inspecteurs en die van
de IAEA (het Internationaal Atoomenergie Agentschap) hebben uit en te na onderzoek gedaan in Iran en stellen dat
dit fysiek zelfs onmogelijk is, daar alle apparatuur daarvoor is
verwijderd dan wel ontmanteld.

Overigens
lijkt deze hele zaak precies op de tijd van voor de illegale oorlog die
de VS tegen Irak begon in 2003: de ene leugen die de andere leugen moet
ondersteunen, terwijl er geen flinter bewijs is voor de leugens die
de VS aanvoerde….. ‘Netto resultaat’ van die illegale oorlog: tot nu toe meer dan 1,5 miljoen vermoorde Irakezen…… Moet je nagaan: de VS stelt zelfs dat Iran de situatie in Irak op scherp heeft gesteld…… ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Het voorgaande gaat naadloos over in de bewering van de VS dat Iran de situatie in het Midden-Oosten destabiliseert……. Iets wat je nu juist (wel met bewijzen) de VS, Saoedi-Arabië en Israël kan aanrekenen……

Sterker
nog: de schrijver van het hieronder opgenomen artikel, Darius
Shahtahmasebi stelt volkomen terecht dat de punten die het 666 beest
Trump als basis gebruikt voor de beslissing uit de deal met Iran te
stappen, stuk voor stuk zijn terug te voeren op het VS
buitenlandbeleid, dan wel op beleid van haar belangrijkste
partners in het Midden-Oosten Israël en Saoedi-Arabië…….

Zo
is de grootste sponsor van terreur in het Midden-Oosten Saoedi-Arabië
en niet Iran, S-A dat NB de betalingen van bijna alle terreurgroepen
in Syrië voor haar rekening nam en neemt, dit nog naast de
wapenleveranties en training aan/van deze terreurgroepen……
Hetzelfde S-A dat samen met de VS, GB en een aantal arabische staten
een genocide uitvoert op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen, een
grotere vorm van terreur is niet te bedenken….. 

Wat betreft Israël: deze fascistische apartheidsstaat is zonder meer ook als terreurstaat aan te merken, neem alleen al het enorme aantal oorlogsmisdaden en misdaden tegen de menselijkheid die Israël tegen de Palestijnen heeft begaan en begaat…… Daarnaast heeft deze uiterst agressieve staat zelf kernwapens en weigert het het verdrag tegen non-proliferatie te tekenen, zoals het ook het verdrag tegen het maken en verspreiden van chemische wapens weigert te tekenen….. (Israël ontwikkelt, produceert chemische wapens en slaat deze wapens nog steeds op >> waar het me niet zou verbazen als veel van het door de ‘gematigde rebellen’ in Syrië gebruikte gifgas rechtstreeks uit Israël is gekomen…..)

Het
voorgaande nog naast het feit dat de VS zelf de grootste
terreurentiteit op aarde is, die alleen deze eeuw al meer dan twee
miljoen mensen heeft vermoord middels: 

  • illegale oorlogen
  • drone
    aanvallen op verdachten, waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers
    niet eens verdacht was, dus vooral vrouwen en kinderen…
  • geheime
    militaire acties in een aantal landen waar het niets te zoeken heeft, veelal onder regie van de CIA…… 
  • staatsgrepen 
  • het
    manipuleren van verkiezingen in landen waar de VS ook al niets te zoeken
    heeft 
  • het hacken van zelfs overheidscomputers die behoren aan VS
    bevriende naties (zo werd zelfs de telefoon van de Duitse premier
    Merkel gehackt door de VS….)  
  • het opzetten en regisseren van
    opstanden (die moeten uitmonden in een staatsgreep, zo kan je beter spreken van de VS Lente i.p.v. de Arabische Lente)………

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — U.S.
President Donald Trump announced on
Tuesday that the United States is officially walking away from the
2015 Iranian nuclear accord, also known as the Joint Comprehensive
Plan of Action (JCPOA).

As Anti-Media has
already outlined,
it appears that right from the get-go, it was the United States that
implemented this agreement in bad faith — not Iran. To put it
bluntly, the United States is the only party that has violated its
terms. In light of this harsh truth, is it Iran or the United States
that poses a threat to global stability?

In
taking this drastic step, the United States has certainly
demonstrated its schizophrenic approach to global affairs and
effectively shown its true colors to the world. According to
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, sanctions will be re-imposed on
Iran to punish Iran for the following:

  1.       Iran’s
    status as the world’s largest state sponsor of terror;

  2.       Its
    use of ballistic missiles against American allies;

  3.       Its
    support for the brutal Assad regime in Syria;

  4.       Its
    human rights violations against its own people;

  5.       Its
    abuses of the international financial system.

The
first of these claims is completely untrue. Iran spends
very little on military-related affairs compared
to the United States and its regional allies, Saudi Arabia and
Israel. Saudi Arabia has openly
confirmed it
spread the ideology of Wahhabism — the same sect of Islam as ISIS —
across the world at the behest of its Western allies. The U.S.
actively supported the precursor to
al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan with Saudi assistance in order
to confront the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The U.S. continues
a similar policy of supporting
Sunni jihadists even to this day.

Iran
has no such history. Iran’s proxies, like Hezbollah, are in the
business of fighting ISIS. In fact, they are the most heavily
engaged entities
fighting against ISIS on the ground in Syria. Not once have we seen a
report that says ISIS has been found to be carrying Iranian weapons.
In contrast, reports that show ISIS have managed to obtain American
weapons are numerous.

The
second claim above is also ludicrously unprovable. We can only
document Iran using
missiles on
one occasion in recent history: during a strike that took place in
Syria pursuant to its defense
pact arrangements
with the Syrian government in response to an ISIS-inspired attack
that took place on Iranian soil. Unless Syria is an ally of the U.S.
government, this claim against Iran attacking U.S. allies is also
completely false. That being said, the idea that the Iranian missiles
took out U.S. allies on the ground, which were actually ISIS and
al-Qaeda affiliated organizations, is actually somewhat believable.

But
what about Yemen? Iran is supplying missiles to the so-called Houthi
rebels in Yemen to attack Saudi Arabia, right? This has not even
been remotely proven outside
of a grandiose propaganda performance from U.N. ambassador Nikki
Haley. Compared to Saudi Arabia and the United States, the Iranian
war machine is relatively restrained.

In
fact, it is the United States that uses sophisticated
missiles on
Iranian allies without any discernible

legal
basis and
is also heavily bombing almost
all of the countries surrounding Iran at
any given time.

Iranian
support for the “brutal Assad regime in Syria” would hold water
if the U.S. didn’t openly support some of the worst dictatorships
in the world, including Saudi Arabia. How many people reading this
article are aware that
the Indonesian military – a longtime
U.S. ally –
just openly shot down a parishioner standing on the front porch of
his church in Papua? Is the Indonesian military under scrutiny for
its crackdown over Papua?

While
the Iranian government is certainly repressive — and also the
result of U.S. meddling in
the country’s domestic affairs
— factions of the U.S. government, too, have committed human
rights abuses against
their own people,
as well as civilians around the
world.

The
list goes on and on. To those of us who aren’t swamped in MAGA
propaganda, it sounds a lot like the United States is criticizing
itself more than it is criticizing Iran, which despite its flaws, has
actually abided by the terms of the JCPOA in good faith,
as confirmed by
Trump’s own State Department and Secretary
of Defense James Mattis.

Iran
isn’t the unstable threat to international security. In fact, the
evidence suggests it is the
United States that really deserves that title.
If the United States were genuine in its bid to deter illegal
aggression and protect human rights, it would impose sanctions on
itself, invading
and bombing its
own government back
into the Stone Age.

But
let’s not get too hopeful.

In het
hieronder opgenomen artikel, geschreven door Darius Shahtahmasebi,
betoogt hij dat niet Iran de nucleaire deal schendt maar de VS!
Dezelfde VS, die sinds de Trump administratie aan het bewind is, deze
deal van tafel wil hebben, zoals o.a. Trump zelf meermaals op een
meer dan belachelijke manier heeft gesteld.

Echter
als je de bepalingen in deze deal, de ‘Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) leest en deze goed analyseert,
is het juist de VS die dit JCPOA schendt!

Voorts
hebben zelfs de psychopaten Pompeo, Tillerson, Mattis en het State
Department (het VS ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken) gesteld dat Iran zich
wel degelijk aan deze overeenkomst houdt. Naast deze spelers heeft ook de IAEA
(het internationaal atoomagentschap) gesteld dat Iran zich aan de
deal hield en houdt, een vaststelling die de IAEA maar liefst 9 keer heeft gedaan……. Ook EU partners in de IAEA en de EU hebben dit meermaals vastgesteld…..

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — On
Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave his
most grandiose
anti-Iranian performance to
date, revealing what he believed was direct proof that Iran “lied”
about its nuclear program. This isn’t the first time Netanyahu has
overhyped the threat of Iran’s non-existent nuclear weapons
program. He has been crying
wolf over
Iran since as far back as 1992.

The
aim of this performance is to cast doubt on the efficacy of the
Iranian nuclear accord signed in 2015, officially known as the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which U.S. President Donald
Trump has long intended to completely derail. Netanyahu, of course,
is totally on board with this goal.

Following
Netanyahu’s speech, the White House released a
statement of its own, saying Israel’s intelligence confirms what
the U.S. had already known — that “Iran
has a robust, clandestine nuclear weapons program that it has tried
and failed to hide from the world.”
Not long after, the White House issued a second
statement that
changed the word “has” to “had,” appearing to suggest that
Iran no longer possesses a nuclear weapons program. However, a White
House official later explained to NBC
News that
the wrong tense was the result of a “clerical error.”

Either
way, despite the uncompromising anti-Iranian narrative, the
prevailing truth appears to be that Iran is in full compliance with
the JCPOA, and the main officials involved — including Trump and
Netanyahu — are well aware of this. In his April 12 Senate
confirmation hearing, then-CIA director Mike Pompeo (who this week
began his tenure as secretary of state) said he
has “seen
no evidence that they [Iran] are not in compliance today.”

Just
last month, the State Department once again issued a report declaring
that “Iran
continued to fulfill its nuclear-related commitments”
under the JCPOA following an ongoing pattern of the State
Department even under the watch of Rex Tillerson, who essentially
forced Trump
to certify Iran’s compliance. Secretary of Defense James “Mad
Dog” Mattis has
also said Iran
is “fundamentally” in compliance with the nuclear agreement.

Further,
the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has
also confirmed Iran’s
compliance at least nine times, as have the European
partners to
the JCPOA and practically the entire EU.

“The
deal is working, it is delivering on its main goal which means
keeping the Iranian nuclear programme in check,” said
Federica Mogherini, the EU’s foreign policy chief, before
acknowledging that the JCPOA is “making
the world safer and … preventing a potential nuclear arms race in
the region.”

In
fact, as the Atlantic’s Peter
Beinart has explained,
it is Donald Trump’s administration that is most likely violating
the JCPOA — not Iran.

According
to Beinart:

“The
more interesting question isn’t whether Iran has been complying
with the nuclear deal. It’s whether America has. American
journalists often describe the
agreement as a trade. In the words of one CNN report, it ‘obliges
Iran to limit its nuclear program in exchange for the suspension of
economic sanctions.’ 


But there’s more to it than that. The deal doesn’t only require
the United States to lift nuclear sanctions. It requires the United
States not to inhibit Iran’s reintegration into the global economy.
Section 26 commits the
U.S. (and its allies) ‘to prevent interference with the realisation
of the full benefit by Iran of the sanctions lifting specified’ in
the deal. Section 29 commits the
U.S. and Europe to ‘refrain from any policy specifically intended
to directly and adversely affect the normalisation of trade and
economic relations with Iran.’ Section 33 commits them to ‘agree
on steps to ensure Iran’s access in areas of trade, technology,
finance and energy.’”

This
is the interesting part. According to those sections, the U.S. has
been violating the JCPOA for some time now.

As
Beinart explains further:

“The
Trump administration has likely been violating these
clauses. The Washington
Post reported that
at a NATO summit last May, ‘Trump tried to persuade European
partners to stop making trade and business deals with Iran.’ Then,
in July, Trump’s director of legislative affairs boasted that
at a G20 summit in Germany, Trump had ‘underscored the need for
nations … to stop doing business with nations that sponsor
terrorism, especially Iran.’ Both of these lobbying efforts appear
to violate America’s pledge to ‘refrain from any policy
specifically intended to directly and adversely affect the
normalisation of trade and economic relations with Iran.’”

Or,
take for example, sanctions imposed on
Iran by the Trump administration in July of last year that targeted
“procurement
of advanced military hardware, such as fast attack boats and unmanned
aerial vehicles, and send a strong signal that the United States
cannot and will not tolerate Iran’s provocative and destabilizing
behaviour,” according to
a statement released by U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.

Beinart
also explains how that 22 of the deal specifically requires the U.S.
to allow for the sale of commercial passenger aircraft and related
parts and services to Iran,” which,
as Al-Monitor revealed, “requests
concerning permits to export planes to Iran have been piling up …
OFAC** has not responded to aircraft sales licensing requests since the
first of such licenses were issued during the Barack Obama
administration.”

In
other words, Iran is in compliance with the JCPOA but the U.S. isn’t.
Does the U.S. abide by its own rules, or should it be held to the
same standards that the world has held Iran ransom to for decades?

It
is nothing short of extraordinary that the only country to have ever
used nuclear weapons can be the one violating an international
agreement all while it consistently demonizes another state for
allegedly violating the very same agreement. Why is it that the U.S.
can violate the JCPOA with no consequence but Iran is demonized even
as it continues to comply with it?

The
problem with the JCPOA isn’t that it isn’t working; the problem
for people like Trump and Netanyahu is that it is working too well.

Weer een
geval van je gelooft je ogen niet als je het leest: de
psychopathische Saoedische kroonprins Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), de
oorlogsmisdadiger die verantwoordelijk is voor de gaande zijnde
genocide op sjiieten in Jemen*, werd maar liefst 75 minuten lang
gepromoot door de Washington Post (WaPo).

Tijdens
de promotie voor deze schoft stelde deze ‘MBS’ dat de VS en andere
westerse landen Saoedi-Arabië hebben gevraagd haar vorm van islam,
het wahabisme uit te dragen in landen die banden onderhielden met de
Sovjet-Unie, ofwel als instrument te dienen tegen het
‘communisme………’

E.e.a.
nadat Saoedi-Arabië het wahabisme ging uitdragen als reactie op
Nasser, de ‘socialistische’ president van Egypte, waar de term ‘nasserisme’ haar oorsprong vond. Nasser was de Egyptische president die tijdens zijn leven (en lang daarna) immens populair was in de arabische wereld……..

In de 80er jaren leidde dit tot de samenwerking van de VS met Saoedi-Arabië in de strijd tegen door de Sovjet-Unie gesteunde linkse bewind in Afghanistan, ofwel: dit leidde tot de strijd tegen de Russische troepen in dat land……. Met deze steun werd de Taliban als strijdgroep groot (en machtig) in Afghanistan, dezelfde Taliban, die de VS met de NAVO aan de leiband nu al bijna 17 jaar lang bestrijd zonder enig succes, sterker nog: de Taliban is niet ver verwijderd van het punt waarop de oorlog begon in 2001……. Een oorlog die aan een enorm aantal burgers het leven heeft gekost (ofwel: die zijn vermoord), lullig genoeg kan je daar (althans ikzelf) geen cijfers voor vinden**, men spreekt over tienduizenden, echter dat moet intussen de 250.000 al lang zijn gepasseerd…….

danken aan de VS en andere westerse landen….. Overigens bleek uit de gelekte e-mails van Hillary Clinton, dat Saoedi-Arabië de grootste sponsor is van IS…….. I.p.v. Clinton te vervolgen (ook door de reguliere massa-media) voor het niet delen van deze informatie, het niet ingrijpen op deze informatie en haar innige banden met Saoedi-Arabië, maakt men zich druk om wie de e-mails heeft gelekt…… Ongelofelijk!!

(ANTIMEDIA) — In
the latest continuation of western media’s shameless promotion of
a known war criminal, the Washington
Post (WaPo) sat
down with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) last Thursday
for a 75-minute discussion (even the Post itself
previously published an acknowledgment of
his crimes).

While
the Post’s write-up focuses mainly on the
allegation that MBS has Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner,
“in his pocket,” the war in Yemen, and the rights of women in the
Kingdom, most curious is the second-to-last paragraph of the report,
which states the following:

“Asked
about the Saudi-funded spread of Wahhabism, the austere faith that is
dominant in the kingdom and that some have accused of being a source
of global terrorism, Mohammed said that investments in mosques and
madrassas overseas were rooted in the Cold War, when
allies asked Saudi Arabia to use its resources to prevent inroads in
Muslim countries by the Soviet Union.” [emphasis
added]

What?
Allies asked Saudi Arabia to use its resources —
specifically, investments in mosques and madrassas overseas —to
prevent countries from forming alliances with the former Soviet
Union?

Of
course, it was already known that
Saudi Arabia was doing just that for decades, but this is the first
time the blame has been openly shifted to Western allies in an
interview with a major newspaper.

As the Week explained in
2015, Saudi Arabia has spent billions of dollars “investing
heavily in building mosques, madrasas, schools, and Sunni cultural
centers across the Muslim world. Indian intelligence says that in
India alone, from 2011 to 2013, some 25,000 Saudi clerics arrived
bearing more than $250 million to build mosques and universities and
hold seminars.”

The
effects of this policy have been far-reaching. As even pro-war
pundit Fareed Zakaria has documented:

“In
Southeast Asia, almost all observers whom I have spoken with believe
that there is another crucial cause [behind the ‘cancer’ of
Islamic extremism] – exported money and ideology from the Middle
East, chiefly Saudi Arabia. A Singaporean official told me, ‘Travel
around Asia and you will see so many new mosques and madrassas built
in the last 30 years that have had funding from the Gulf. They are
modern, clean, air-conditioned, well-equipped – and Wahhabi [Saudi
Arabia’s puritanical version of Islam].’

Recently,
it was reported that Saudi Arabia plans to contribute almost $1
billion to build 560 mosques in Bangladesh. The Saudi government has
denied this, but sources in Bangladesh tell me there’s some truth
to the report.”

Saudi
Arabia’s funding for extremism has even reached as far as the
Indian Ocean. According
to the New
York Times,
Saudi Arabia has “for
decades spread its conservative strand of Islam in the Maldives by
sending religious leaders, building mosques and giving scholarships
to students to attend universities.” Is
it a mere coincidence therefore that the South
China Morning Post reported that
Indian intelligence sources are claiming hundreds of Maldivians have
joined ISIS in Syria?

We
also know from
Hillary Clinton’s leaked emails that Saudi Arabia was almost
certainly one of ISIS’ prime sponsors — and that the Clinton camp
was well aware of this issue.

While
this is the first time a prominent figurehead like MBS has admitted
not only that Saudi Arabia spreads its Wahhabist strain of Islam
across the world but also that it was done at the request of its
western allies, there is proof that MBS’ claim is a well-kept
secret of former and current American administrations.

As
former U.S. ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad wrote
in September 2016,
a Saudi official quietly admitted this little-known fact almost two
years ago:

“He
[the Saudi official] explained that Saudi support for Islamic
extremism started in the early 1960s as a counter to Nasserism—the
socialist political ideology that came out of the thinking of Egypt’s
Gamal Abdel Nasser—which threatened Saudi Arabia and led to war
between the two countries along the Yemen border. This tactic allowed
them to successfully contain Nasserism, and the Saudis concluded that
Islamism could be a powerful tool with broader utility.

“Under
their new and unprecedented policy of honesty, the Saudi leadership
also explained to me that their support for
extremism was a way of resisting the Soviet Union, often in
cooperation with the United States, in places like Afghanistan in the
1980s. In
this application too, they argued, it proved successful. Later it was
deployed against Iranian-supported Shiite movements in the
geopolitical competition between the two countries.” [emphasis
added]

ik had het bericht, waarin wordt ‘gesproken’ over de vervanging van figuren rond het beest
Trump, ‘nog niet gepubliceerd’* of men maakte bekend dat
McMaster, zelf al een enorme ploert van formaat, werd  afgezet door
het beest, om plaats te maken voor John Bolton, ofwel de duivel
zelf….. (zo niet dan toch één van diens trouwste medewerkers…)

Bolton
schreef onlangs ‘geheel toevallig een’ opiniestuk’ in de Wall Street Journal
dat de VS Noord-Korea moet aanvallen…. uit zelfbehoud!!! ha! ha!
ha! ha! ha! Alsof Noord-Korea ooit ook maar een miljoenste van een
seconde een gevaar is geweest voor de VS……. Ja ik lach wel, maar
deze opperploert is werkelijk een gevaar voor de hele wereld…….

Alsof
je een oorlogsmisdadiger, die je minstens als terrorist moet zien,
minister van defensie maakt…. Oh ja, deze benoeming is in feite nog erger…!!

Bolton
is één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken voor de illegale oorlog tegen
Irak, waar hij de massavernietigingsfabel bleef herhalen als
ambassadeur bij de VN……… Al moest je ofwel een topidioot zijn
om dit te geloven, dan wel een kwaadaardige collaborateur van de VS, of lobbyist van andere westerse regeringen zijn die achter deze illegale oorlog stonden (zoals de reguliere westerse media….)…. Hoewel een lobbyist van het militair-industrieel complex, of een combi van het e.e.a. heel goed mogelijk is………

Met
Pompeo, een andere opperschoft op Buitenlandse Zaken, een groot
voorstander van oorlog tegen Iran en Noord-Korea, laat zich raden wat
er op het ‘menu staat…..’ (één of het liefst twee illegale oorlogen,
misschien zelfs met het gebruik van ‘tactische’ kernwapens, zodat deze getest kunnen worden in de praktijk…….)

Ik
hoef je niet te vertellen wat hiervan het gevolg zal zijn….. Och,
waarom ook niet: Rusland zal dit zeker niet pikken en waarschijnlijk
zal China al evenmin op de handen blijven zitten, ofwel

Hoe
is het mogelijk dat de westerse media zo relatief gelaten reageren op

Worst Nightmare

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — John
Bolton’s inclusion in the Trump administration as Donald Trump’s
new national security advisor is nothing short of a nightmare.

Bolton,
a former U.N. ambassador under George W. Bush, will be replacing
General H.R. McMaster as Trump’s national security advisor, who
replaced former “disgraced” national security advisor Michael
Flynn. When the president struck a Syrian airbase in April 2017, it
was McMaster who drew up and briefed Trump on the strike
proposals,
one of which was reportedly
very extensive.

McMaster
was also reportedly one
of the main backers of a secret plan to give North Korea’s Kim
Jong-un a “bloody nose strike,” a limited strike to dismantle its
nuclear ambitions without risking an all-out war.

However,
despite this, it appears McMaster wasn’t hawkish enough for Donald
Trump’s needs. While McMaster publicly
berates Iran and
North Korea on a regular basis, he persistently warned against
Trump’s plan to completely derail the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action (JCPOA) formed with Iran in 2015. He also later denied the
claims that the Trump administration was looking to deliver the
“bloody nose strike” on North Korea, perhaps indicating he was
not completely on board with the idea after all (or had decided
otherwise at that particular juncture in history).

Enter
John Bolton. Less than month ago, he wrote an op-ed article published
by the Wall
Street Journal (WSJ) entitled “The
Legal Case for Striking North Korea First” — an idea so bad, it
seems, that about a week later, the WSJ published
a counter viewpoint simply entitled “Striking North Korea First Is
a Bad Proposal.”

In
Bolton’s short-sighted op-ed — aside from the fact that he offers
no real legal analysis at all (those who do consider it a legal
analysis must explain why the argument of preemptive self-defense
applies to the U.S. but not to North Korea, which faces American
aggression near
its borders on a routine basis) — it’s also quite telling that he
relies on the evidence of CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who alleged in
January that Pyongyang was only “a handful of months” away from
being able to strike the American mainland with nukes.

It
is no coincidence that next in line for Donald Trump’s secretary of
state position is Pompeo himself.

Together,
Bolton and Pompeo will be able to advise Trump on anti-North Korean
and anti-Iranian platforms so hawkish there is no telling what’s to
come (though we have a fairly decent idea).

As
some of you may know, John Bolton’s hawkishness has already led to
some of the most despicable foreign
policy agendas of
our generation.

“We
are confident that Saddam Hussein has hidden weapons of mass
destruction and production facilities in Iraq,” Bolton
famously said in
2002 while serving as President George W. Bush’s undersecretary of
state for Arms Control and International Security. He also called
Hussein a “threat to the region” and claimed he needed to be
“disarmed.”

“But
the end of the story is clear here. And if Saddam Hussein does not
co-operate we have made it clear this is the last chance for him…I
think the Iraqi people would be unique in history if they didn’t
welcome the overthrow of this dictatorial regime,” he
added.

Even
when this rationale for invading Iraq and destabilizing an entire
region turned out to be one of the worst editions of “fake news”
ever to sting the planet, in 2015 – some 12 years later – Bolton
still claimed the
Iraq War was worth it and said that, conversely, the worst decision
involving Iraq was the “2011
decision to withdraw U.S. and coalition forces.”
In 2016, he then changed
his mind to
say that the only mistake of the Iraq War was that the U.S. did not
get rid of Saddam Hussein sooner.

If
John Bolton leads the cheers to invade Iran or North Korea, who will
hold him accountable?

Apparently
having learned no lessons at all from the criminal invasion of Iraq,
Bolton also wrote a New
York Times op-ed entitled
“To Stop Iran’s Bomb, Bomb Iran” in 2015. He made it quite
clear that “only military action” could accomplish what was
required to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. In Bolton’s
eyes, the JCPOA doesn’t cut it.

He
also openly called
for the assassination of
Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, only to later condemn
the Obama
administration for
doing just that (an invasion is bad if a Democrat does it, and vice
versa, of course,
depending on who you are running against).

John
Bolton is also a strong
anti-Russian,
drone-warfare supporting imperialist
who once also appeared to call for
the invasion of Cuba.

He
is now going to be advising Donald Trump, a seventy-one-year-old mass
murdering narcissist with
an attention span of two
to four minutes,
on matters of national security.

Wereldoorlog III: is deze nog te ontwijken?

Alle
tekenen wijzen naar een komend groot conflict >> het samenspannen van de VS en
haar (andere) slaafse westerse landen tegen Rusland, Syrië en Iran, plus
natuurlijk China en Noord-Korea, gesteund middels een enorme propaganda van de westerse media, zorgt ervoor dat er niet veel nodig is of we
zitten middenin WOIII…… Wat betreft China en Noord-Korea: daar
zijn nog geen officiële NAVO oefeningen gehouden, al zijn de spanningen er daar niet minder om…. (hoewel Australië, Nieuw-Zeeland en de Filipijnen natuurlijk ook een soort NAVO bondgenoot zijn*) Neem de alweer grote militaire oefening van Zuid-Korea en de
VS langs de grenzen en territoriale wateren van Noord-Korea……
Tijdens de Spelen kon de wereld even ademhalen en toenadering tussen
de 2 Korea’s was even een feit…..

De
Spelen zijn nog niet afgelopen of de VS kondigt aan dat de grote
jaarlijkse militaire oefening ‘gewoon’ doorgaat…..
Blijkbaar heeft de VS Moon Jae-in, de Zuid-Koreaanse president en de Zuid-Koreaanse regering dusdanig onder druk gezet dat men toestemde in het laten doorgaan van
die oefeningen, militaire oefeningen die de Noord-Koreanen al
decennia lang steken, maar waar vooral de VS niet van af wil zien…….. Tja,
zeg nu zelf, ‘wat is belangrijker’, een voor de winsten en macht van het militair-industrieel
complex en de macht van de VS te houden grootschalige militaire
oefening, of vrede?? Vrede is (blijkbaar) voor dombo’s……

Niet
alleen de agressie tegen landen als Syrië, Rusland, Iran, China en
Noord-Korea wijzen in de richting van WOIII, maar met de wisselingen
aan de top van de Trump administratie, kan het bijna niet anders of we stevenen af op een grootschalige oorlog……. De
ene psychopathische houwdegen van die administratie na de andere wordt op straat gezet, waarvoor in de plaats psychopaten worden ingezet die nog een fikse portie kwaadaardiger zijn……… De VS heeft zelfs gesteld dat een aanval met conventionele wapens (dus niet met kernwapens) op bevriende landen niet wordt uitgesloten, een aanval gericht op de bevolking en infrastructuur van die bevriende landen………

Shahtahmasebi noemt het niet in het volgende artikel, maar er ligt ook nog eens een enorme Himalaya aan VS schulden, het is dat de munt van de VS een internationaal betaalmiddel is en bijvoorbeeld de olieprijs in
dollars wordt uitgedrukt, anders zou het er wel eens heel anders uit
kunnen zien voor de VS en haar onafzienbare schuldenlast……

Vreemd
trouwens dat een land als China zulke enorme voorraden dollars heeft,
als dit land deze op de markt dumpt, kan de VS financieel
inpakken….. Dan blijft de vraag over wat goed is voor een land met enorme schulden? Juist,
oorlog!! Vandaar ook dat de geldpersen in de VS overuren maken…..
Het zou me trouwens niet verbazen als China de dollar niet eens durft
te dumpen als betaalmiddel (valuta om mee te investeren)……. Gezien
deze zaak zijn de agressieve woorden van Trump over een importheffing op Chinees
staal en aluminium nog vreemder…….. Blijkbaar wil hij
daarmee zeggen schijt te hebben aan China en haar enorme
dollarvoorraad………

Het
vorige voorbeeld is nog meer van belang, immers China en Rusland
hebben al een paar keer gesproken over een ander internationaal
betaalmiddel dan de dollar. Khadaffi wou de olie dollar inruilen voor
de gouden dinar, een munt waarvan de tegenwaarde altijd in goud
aanwezig zou zijn, één van de redenen voor de illegale oorlog van de
VS en haar oorlogshond NAVO tegen Libië…….. (de enorme goudvoorraad van Libië is tijdens de illegale oorlog van de VS en andere NAVO lidstaten tegen dit land ‘verdwenen….’)

Zo bezien is WOIII eigenlijk niet meer te ontwijken…….

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — Though some have
been warning about
the catastrophic potential for a third global conflict for years, it
wasn’t until recently that
these warnings became more
mainstream.
The calamitous nature of the violence in Syria — which has one
nuclear power defending a government that has been the target of a
regime change operation led by the world’s superpower —
combined with 2017’s threats of “fire
and fury” against
another state intently pursuing a nuclear weapons supply of its own,
has pushed the issue
of a third world war directly
into the public
discourse.

While
certain hotspots throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe
(i.e. Ukraine)
have seen some notable escalations in the last few years, a direct
conflict between Russia and the United States is still yet to emerge.
That’s because the idea of a third world war in today’s world is
completely insane. If the two countries that currently possess the
world’s greatest supplies of nuclear weapons go to war, there
may not be a world left for
the victors to inhabit after the war is done, thereby making it an
unthinkable proposal.

Then
again, the U.S. did just recently bomb a significant
number of
Russian-linked forces in Syria, reportedly killing scores of them.
The targets of these air strikes were also predominantly
Iranian-backed militias (just
in case there weren’t enough state actors already involved in this
ongoing conflict).

Speaking
of Iran, Donald Trump recently fired Rex Tillerson as secretary of
state and immediately appointed CIA director Mike Pompeo to replace
him. Pompeo is a notable
anti-Iran hawk who
will almost certainly go further than Tillerson was ever
prepared to
go with regard to the Iranian nuclear accord, a deal Pompeo believes
is “disastrous.”

There
are also reports now emerging that Donald Trump is planning to
oust his national security advisor, General H.R. McMaster. McMaster
originally replaced anti-Iran war hawk Michael
Flynn,
but apparently, McMaster’s non-stop
allegations against
Iran were not
enough to please Trump.
McMaster was not on board with Trump’s attempt to completely derail
the Iranian nuclear deal.

One
should bear in mind that when Donald Trump made the decision to
strike the Syrian government in April of last year in what amounted
to one of the year’s most important and over-publicized
geopolitical events, it was McMaster who
drew up the strike plan options and presented them to Trump to choose
from. If this is a man not hawkish enough for Trump’s
administration, his looming removal from the administration is a
worrying sign of what’s to come.

Donald
Trump’s Nuclear
Posture Review entails
that, as Katrina vanden Heuvel noted in
an article published in the Washington
Post:

“The
United States reserves the right to unleash
nuclear weapons first in ‘extreme circumstances’ to defend the
‘vital interests’ not only of the United States but also of its
‘allies and partners’ — a total of some 30 countries. ‘Extreme
circumstances,’ the review states explicitly, include ‘significant
non-nuclear attacks,’ including conventional attacks on ‘allied
or partner civilian population or infrastructure.’ The
United States also maintains a ‘portion of
its nuclear forces’ on daily alert, with the option of launching
those forces ‘promptly.’ [emphasis
added]

Considering
that a former analyst for the Council on Foreign Relations, Micah
Zenko, just warned that
Pentagon officials are actively searching for a “big war” against
Russia and China, the trajectory we are currently on starts to make a
lot more sense.

In
other parts of the world, we are witnessing a new era of hostilities
towards Russia. The debacle taking place in the U.K. right now, which
has seen allegations of a Russian chemical attack on British soil,
has prompted the U.K., U.S., France, and Germany to band
together and
condemn Russia for something that hasn’t even been conclusively
investigated yet.

After
years of constantly being painted as the enemy, Russia
just declared via
Twitter that a “Cold War II” has begun, and who can blame them?

A
third world war might sound crazy, but it is only crazy if we fail to
understand the desperation that continues to plague the men in suits
who pull the strings guiding American foreign policy. Consider that
the Syrian government, with Russian and Iranian backing, has
managed to
stabilize significant parts of the country despite
all odds so that refugees can return home safely. It should be clear
that the best way to solve the Syrian crisis is to discontinue
America’s regime change policy in Syria and allow the people of
Syria to normalize their own lives without Washington’s
interference. Yet, after seven years of brutal violence, the U.S.
still refuses to admit defeat in Syria. If anything, the U.S. has now
officially set its sights on
directly combatting Iranian influence in
the country, raising the potential for significant escalations.

Maybe,
just maybe, the U.S. is that desperate. Apparently, the U.S. has to
remain in Syria out of necessity. It cannot afford to sit on the
sidelines as Russia re-emerges as the major power broker in the
region, eating up all the major contracts coming
out of Syria (together
with Iran) as it looks to poach American allies left, right, and
center.

Additionally,
Russia recently warned the U.S. that it will not tolerate
Washington’s aggressive attacks on the Syrian government and will
respond with strikes of their own should
the U.S. military threaten Russian personnel. One should expect that
eventually, there will be a point where Russia will no longer allow
these attacks to go unanswered.

As
America’s power and influence wane, the time will come for both
Russia and China to make their mark on the global stage. Just on a
side note, it should come as no surprise that Trump’s nominated
ambassador to Australia, Adm. Harry Harris, is a known anti-China war
hawk who recently warned
Congress to prepare for a war with China.

Why
should we need to prepare for a war with China? Who talks and thinks
like that? A nation on a slow and inevitable decline that cannot
refuse to admit defeat in almost any battle theater since World War
II, that’s who.

Realistically,
nobody wants a third world war, but as the U.S. increasingly
thrashes to maintain its control of the global financial markets, its
network of over 1,000 bases worldwide, and its status as the world’s
global policemen, a third world war may be Washington’s only hope
at staying afloat as the world’s top power.
