Na de zoveelste massamoord van Israël op Palestijnen in de Gazastrook heeft de Biden administratie de verkoop en export goedgekeurd van $ 735 miljoen aan wapens voor Israël….. Bij die massamoord op Palestijnen zijn natuurlijk ook wapens uit de VS gebruikt (de export van wapens aan Israël is dan ook een ferme geldinjectie in de VS wapenindustrie, daar de wapens uiteraard van VS makelij zijn…..)
Gisteren nog riep dezelfde Biden administratie o.a. de EU op om geld te geven voor de wederopbouw van de Gazastrook waar een enorm aantal mensen dakloos is geworden door bombardementen op woonwijken, hele woontorens werden platgegooid door Israël…… Door deze terreur hebben meer dan 230 Palestijnen het leven verloren, ofwel die zijn vermoord (onder de dodelijke slachtoffers een groot aantal kinderen…..)…… Zoals je begrijpt overstijgt het aantal (ook zwaar-) gewonden het aantal doden ……. (en nogmaals voor die massamoord en het platgooien van flats en woontorens zijn ook VS wapens gebruikt….)
Geld voor de zoveelste wederopbouw van de Gazastrook, ik snap dan ook niet dat de EU en haar lidstaten zo achter de Israëlische terreur blijven staan, keer op keer ook gooit Israël ontwikkelingsprojecten van de EU plat, valt ziekenhuizen aan in de Gazastrook* (zoals nu weer een kinderziekenhuis van Artsen Zonder Grenzen >> MSF), ook de wegen naar ziekenhuizen werden door Israël gebombardeerd…..
Met andere woorden: de EU weet dondersgoed dat Israël EU ontwikkelingsprojecten en door de EU betaalde wederopbouwprojecten keer op keer door Israël worden platgegooid en toch blijft men hechte banden onderhouden met deze uiterst gewelddadige fascistische apartheidsstaat, een staat die zich met haar bloedige geweld zonder meer schuldig maakt aan grootschalige terreur… Zelfs een unanieme veroordeling door de EU van het totaal ongelijke geweld van Israël tegen de Palestijnen krijgt men niet door het EU parlement….. (één van de vele bewijzen dat de EU niet werkt >> geen centralisatie maar decentralisatie!!)

De
Biden administratie heeft ‘onverwacht’ gereageerd op het rapport
waarin Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS) en andere Saoedische despoten
worden veroordeeld voor de moord op Jamal Khashoggi: in tegenstelling
tot wat Biden nog afgelopen november durfde te zeggen dat
Saoedi-Arabië (S-A) de gevolgen zou voelen van de moord op Khashoggi en
dat er een wapenembargo zou worden ingesteld tegen deze
reli-fascistische terreurstaat, worden er amper maatregelen genomen.
De regelmatige lezer van dit blog weet dat ik e.e.a. al onmiddellijk
totaal ongeloofwaardig vond, immers de VS is middels Israël en de
eigen o.a. grondstof belangen gebonden aan Saoedi-Arabië en niet in de
laatste plaats vanwege de strategische ligging van S-A, de
onvoorstelbaar grote wapenaankopen van dit land in de VS plus de haat
van de Saoedische dictators tegen Iran, de wederzijdse gezworen

GlennGreenwald heeft een uitvoerig artikel geschreven over de relatie
tussen de VS en Saoedi-Arabië en andere dictatoriale regimes. De
reguliere westerse media en politici dragen steeds weer het meer dan
belachelijke idee uit dat de VS de politieagent van de wereld is en
daarbij strijdt voor democratie en vrijheid….. In werkelijkheid
interesseert het de VS totaal niet of het te maken heeft met een
bloedige dictatuur, zolang deze maar de belangen van de VS behartigt
en gehoorzaam doet wat de VS voorschrijft (alweer zoals zo vaak op
deze plek gemeld), mag het doen wat het wil met haar bevolking of die

legt de nadruk op Jamal Khashoggi, wat mij betreft is dit vergeleken
met de genocide in Jemen een kleinigheid, hoe gruwelijk de moord op
Khashoggi ook was (en vergeet niet dat Khashoggi verreweg het
grootste deel van zijn werkzaam leven de Saoedische dictatuur heeft
bejubeld en gesteund……)
Gelukkig
haalt Greenwald de totaal tegenstrijdige behandeling van Julian
Assange aan, die wat Biden betreft mag wegrotten in de gevangenis
(niet in de laatste plaats daar deze oorlogsmisdaden van de VS
openbaarde, die deels werden begaan toen Biden vicepresident was en
die daarmee mede verantwoordelijk was voor die ernstige oorlogsmisdaden…..
), terwijl Biden aan de andere kant de behandeling van journalisten op
deze manier ‘aan de paal wil nagelen’ (althans dat zegt), neem nogmaals een
figuur als Khashoggi…..

That
the U.S. opposes tyranny is a glaring myth. Yet it is not only
believed but often used to justify wars, bombing campaigns,
sanctions, and protracted conflict.

A
staple of mainstream U.S. discourse is
that the United States opposes tyranny and despotism and supports
freedom and democracy around the world. Embracing murderous despots
is something only Donald Trump did, but not normal, upstanding
American Presidents. This belief about the U.S. role in the world
permeates virtually every mainstream foreign policy discussion.
When
the U.S. wants to start a new war — with Iraq, with Libya, with
Syria, etc. — it accomplishes this by claiming that it is, at least
in part, motivated by horror over the tyranny of the country’s
leaders. When it wants to engineer regime change or support
anti-democratic coups — in Venezuela, in Iran, in Bolivia, in
Honduras — it uses the same justification. When the U.S. Government
and its media partners want to increase the hostility and fear that
Americans harbor for adversarial countries — for Russia, for China,
for Cuba, For North Korea — it hauls out the same script: we
are deeply disturbed by the human rights violations of that country’s
government.
Yet
it is hard to conjure a claim that is more obviously and laughably
false than this one. The U.S. does not dislike autocratic and
repressive governments. It loves them, and it has for decades.
Installing and propping up despotic regimes has been the foundation
of U.S. foreign policy since at least the end of World War II, and
that approach continues to this day to be its primary instrument for
advancing what it regards as its interests around the world. The U.S.
for decades has counted among its closest allies and partners the
world’s most barbaric autocrats, and that is still true.
Indeed,
all other things being equal, when it comes to countries with
important resources or geo-strategic value, the U.S. prefers
autocracy to democracy because democracy is unpredictable and even
dangerous, particularly in the many places around the world where anti-American
sentiment
among the population is high (often because of sustained U.S.
interference in those countries, including propping up their
dictators). There is no way for a rational person to acquire even the
most minimal knowledge of U.S. history and current foreign policy and
still believe the claim that the U.S. acts against other countries
because it is angry or offended at human rights abuses perpetrated by
those other governments.
What
the U.S. hates and will act decisively and violently against is not
dictatorship but disobedience. The formula is no more complex than
this: any government that submits to U.S. decrees will be its ally
and partner and will receive its support no matter how repressive,
barbaric or despotic it is with its own population. Conversely, any
government that defies U.S. decrees will be its adversary and enemy
no matter how democratic it was in its ascension to power and in its
governance.
In
sum, human rights abuses are never the reason the U.S. acts against
another country. Human rights abuses are the pretext the U.S. uses —
the propagandistic script — to pretend that its brute force
retaliation against noncompliant governments are in fact noble
efforts to protect people.
The
examples proving this to be true are far too long to chronicle in any
one article. Entire books have been written demonstrating this. In
May, journalist Vincent Bevins released an outstanding
book
entitled The
Jakarta Method.
As I wrote in my review of it, accompanied by an interview
with the author:
The
book primarily documents the indescribably horrific campaigns of
mass murder and genocide the CIA sponsored in Indonesia as an
instrument for destroying a nonaligned movement of nations who would
be loyal to neither Washington nor Moscow. Critically, Bevins
documents how the chilling success of that morally grotesque
campaign led to its being barely discussed in U.S. discourse, but
then also serving as the foundation and model for clandestine CIA
interference campaigns in multiple other countries from Guatemala,
Chile, and Brazil to the Philippines, Vietnam, and Central America:
the Jakarta Method.
When
people who want to believe in the core goodness of the U.S. role in
the world are confronted with those facts, they often dismiss them by
insisting that this was a relic of the Cold War, a necessary evil to
stop the spread of Communism which no longer applies. But the fall of
the Soviet Union did not even minimally retard this tactic of
propping up and embracing the world’s worst despots. It remains the
strategy of choice of the permanent bipartisan Washington class known
as the U.S. Foreign Policy Community.
And
nothing makes that point clearer than the long-standing and ongoing
support the U.S. provides to the Saudi regime, one of the most savage
and despotic tyrannies on the planet. As the Biden administration is
now demonstrating, not even murdering a journalist with a large U.S.
newspaper who resided in the U.S. can ruin or even weaken the tight,
loyal friendship between the U.S. government and the Saudi monarchy,
to say nothing of the brutal repression which Saudi monarchs have
imposed on its own population for decades.
An
intelligence report released
by the U.S. Government on Friday claims
what many have long assumed: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
personally and directly approved the gruesome murder in Turkey of Washington
Post
journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the subsequent carving up of his
corpse with a buzzsaw for removal to Saudi Arabia. The Saudis
continue to deny
this allegation, but it is nonetheless the official and definitive
conclusion of the U.S. Government.
But
beyond a few trivial and inconsequential gestures (sanctioning a few
Saudis and imposing a visa ban on a few dozen others), the Biden
administration made clear that it intends to undertake no real
retaliation. That is because, said The
New York Times,
“a consensus emerged inside the White House that the cost of such a
breach, in terms of Saudi cooperation on counterterrorism and in
confronting Iran, was simply too high.” Biden officials were also
concerned, they claimed, that punishing the Saudis would push them
closer to China.
Not
only is the Biden administration not meaningfully punishing the
Saudis, but they are actively protecting them. Without explanation,
the U.S. withdrew
its original report that contained the name of twenty-one Saudis it
alleged had “participated in, ordered, or were otherwise complicit
in or responsible for the death of Jamal Khashoggi” and replaced
it with a different version of the report that only named eighteen —
seemingly protecting the identity of three Saudi operative it
believes to have participated in a horrific murder.
Even
worse, the White House is concealing
the names of the seventy-six Saudi operatives to whom they are
applying visa bans for participating in Khashoggi’s assassination,
absurdly citing “privacy” concerns — as though those who
savagely murder and dismember a journalist are entitled to have their
identities hidden.
Worse
still, the U.S. is not imposing any sanctions on bin Salman himself,
the person most responsible for Khashoggi’s death. When pressed on
this refusal to sanction the Saudi leader on Sunday, White House
Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed
— falsely — that “there have not been sanctions put in place
for the leaders of foreign governments where we have diplomatic
relations and even where we don’t have diplomatic relations.” As
the foreign policy analyst Daniel Larison quickly noted,
that is blatantly untrue: the U.S. has previously sanctioned multiple
foreign leaders including Venezuela’s Nicolas
Maduro,
currently targeted personally with multiple sanctions, as well as
North Korea’s Kim
Jong Un,
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali
Khamenei,
and the now-deceased Zimbabwean
leader Robert Mugabe.
It
cannot be disputed that Biden has quickly and radically violated his
campaign pledge: “I would make it very clear we were not going to,
in fact, sell more weapons to them, we were going to, in fact, make
them pay the price and make
them the pariah that they are.”
As even CNN noted:
“It was a far cry from a comment in November 2019, in which Biden
promised to punish senior Saudi leaders in a way former President
Donald Trump wouldn’t.” Even the new administration’s early
announcement that they would cease helping the Saudis wage war in
Yemen was accompanied by a vow
to continue furnishing the Saudi regime with “defensive” weapons.
It
is in instances such as now — when U.S. propaganda becomes so
unsustainable because the government’s actions diverge so glaringly
from the mythology, such that the contradictions cannot elude even
the most partisan and gullible citizens — that White House
officials are forced to be candid about how they really think and
behave. When they see the Biden administration protecting one of the
most despicable regimes on the planet, they are left with no choice:
nobody will believe the standard fictions they typically spout, so
they have to defend their real mentality to justify their behavior.
And
so that is exactly what Psaki did on Monday when confronted with the
glaring disparities between Biden’s campaign vows and their current
reality of coddling the Saudi murderous despots. She admitted that
the U.S. is willing to tolerate and support even the most barbaric
tyrants. “There are areas where we have an important relationship
with Saudi Arabia” and Biden, in refusing to harshly punish the
Saudis, is “acting
in the national interest of the United States.”
Now,
there are some who believe that the U.S. should be
indifferent to the human rights practices of other governments and
should simply align and partner and even install and prop up whatever
dictators are willing to serve U.S. interests, regardless of how
tyrannical and repressive they are (what constitutes “U.S.
interests,” and who typically benefits from their promotion, is an
entirely separate question). In the past, many have advocated this
view explicitly. Jeane Kirkpatrick catapulted to Cold War-era fame
when she insisted
that the U.S. should support pro-U.S. right-wing autocrats because
they are preferable
to left-wing ones. Henry Kissinger’s entire career as an academic
and foreign policy official was based on his “realist” philosophy
which was explicitly welcoming of despotic regimes that were of use
to “U.S. interests” as defined by the ruling class.
At
least if there is that sort of candor, the real scheme of motives can
be engaged. But the laughably false conceit that the U.S. is
motivated by a genuine and profound concern for the freedom and human
rights of others around the world and that this noble sentiment is
what animates its choices about who to attack, isolate and sanction,
or befriend, support and arm, is so blatantly propagandistic that it
is truly stunning that anyone continues to believe it.
And
yet not only do they believe it, it is the predominant view in the
mainstream press. It is the script that is non-ironically hauled out
every time the U.S. wants to go to war with or bomb a new country and
we are told that nobody can oppose this because the leaders being
targeted are so very bad and tyrannical and the U.S. stands opposed
to such evils.
Biden’s
protection of bin Salman
is not, to put it mildly, the first post-Cold-War example of the U.S.
lavishing praise, support and protection on the world’s worst
tyrants. President Obama sold the Saudis a record
amount
of weapons, and even cut short his state visit to India — the
world’s largest democracy — to fly
to Saudi Arabia
along with top officials in both political parties to pay his
respects to King Abdullah upon his death. Our Snowden reporting in
2014 revealed
that the Obama-era NSA “significantly expanded its cooperative
relationship with the Saudi Ministry of Interior, one of the world’s
most repressive and abusive government agencies,” with one top
secret memo heralding “a period of rejuvenation” for the NSA’s
relationship with the Saudi Ministry of Defense.
When
she was Obama’s Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton notoriously
gushed
about her close friendship with the brutal Egyptian strongman
supported for 30 years by the U.S.: “I really consider President
and Mrs. [Hosni] Mubarak to be friends of my family. So I hope to see
him often here in Egypt and in the United States.” As Mona Eltahawy noted
in TheNew
York Times:
“Five American administrations, Democratic and Republican,
supported the Mubarak regime.”
Both
the Bush and Obama administrations took extraordinary steps to conceal
what was known about Saudi involvement in the 9/11 attack. Indeed,
one grand irony of the still-ongoing War on Terror is that the U.S.
has bombed close to ten countries in its name — including ones with
no conceivable relationship to that attack — yet continued to hug
closer and closer the one country, Saudi Arabia, which even many D.C.
elites believed
had the closest proximity to it.
When
President Trump hosted Egyptian dictator Gen. Abdul el-Sisi in the
White House in 2017, and then did the same for the Bahraini autocrat
(to whom Obama authorized
arms sales as he was brutally crushing a domestic uprising), a huge
outpouring of contrived
indignation
spewed forth from the media and various foreign policy analysts, as
if it were some radical, heinous aberration from U.S. tradition,
rather than a perfect expression of decades-old U.S. policy to
embrace dictators. As I wrote
at the time of Sisi’s Washington visit:
In
the case of Egypt and Bahrain, the only new aspect of Trump’s
conduct is that it’s more candid and revealing: rather than
deceitfully feign concern for human rights while arming and
propping up the world’s worst tyrants — as Obama and his
predecessors did — Trump is dispensing with the pretense. The
reason so many D.C. mavens are so upset with Trump isn’t because
they hate his policies but rather despise his inability and/or
unwillingness to prettify what the U.S. does in the world.
And
all of this is to say nothing of the U.S.’s own despotic practices.
The U.S. has instituted policies of torture, kidnapping, mass
warrantless surveillance, and due-process-free floating prisons in
the middle of the ocean where people remain in a cage for almost 20
years despite having never been charged with a crime. The Biden
Justice Department is currently trying to imprison Julian Assange for
life for the crime of publishing documents that revealed grave crimes
by the U.S. government and its allies, and is attempting to do the
same to Edward Snowden. One need not look toward the barbarism of
U.S. allies to see what propagandistic dreck is the claim that the
U.S. stands steadfastly opposed to authoritarianism in the world:
just look at the U.S. Government itself.
And
yet, somehow, not only do large numbers of Americans and most
corporate journalists believe that mythology, they are well-trained
to divert their attention away from the abuses of their own
government and its allies — which they could do something about —
and instead obsess over repression by governments adversarial to the
U.S. (which they can do nothing to change). That’s what explains
the U.S. media obsession with denouncing Putin and Maduro and Assad
and Iran while devoting far less attention to the equal and
often-more-severe abuses of their own government and its “allies
and partners.” Nobody captured this dynamic and the motives behind
it better than Noam Chomsky, when asked
why he devotes so much time to the crimes of the U.S. and its allies
rather than those of Russia and Venezuela and Iran and other U.S.
adversaries:
My
own concern is primarily the terror and violence carried out by my
own state, for two reasons. For one thing, because it happens to be
the larger component of international violence. But also for a much
more important reason than that: namely, I can do something about it.
So even if the US was responsible for 2% of the violence in the world
instead of the majority of it, it would be that 2% I would be
primarily responsible for. And that is a simple ethical judgment.
That
is, the ethical value of one’s actions depends on their anticipated
and predictable consequences. It is very easy to denounce the
atrocities of someone else. That has about as much ethical value as
denouncing atrocities that took place in the 18th century.
But
this propagandistic mythology that holds that the U.S. only embraces
democrats and not despots is too valuable to renounce — even when,
as Biden is doing now with the Saudis, the glaring falsity of it is
rubbed in people’s faces. It remains a key ingredient to:
justify
wars and bombings (how
can you oppose our bombing of Syria when Assad is such a monster or
why would you object to our war in Libya given all the bad things
Gaddafi does?);
keep
people satisfied with protracted and dangerous conflict with chosen
adversaries (of
course Russia is our enemy: look at what Putin does to journalists
and dissidents);
allow
citizens to feel good and righteous about the U.S. Government (sure,
we’re not perfect, but we don’t hang gays from cranes like they
do in Iran);
and, most importantly of all,
distract
Americans’ attention away from the crimes of their own ruling
class (I’m
too busy reading about what’s being done to Nalvany — by a
government over which I exercise no influence — to care about the
civil liberties abuses by the U.S. Government and those government
with whom it aligns and supports).
What’s
most remarkable and alarming about all this is not how dangerous it
is — though it is dangerous — but what it reveals about how
easily propagandized the U.S. media class is. They can watch Biden
hug and protect Mohammed bin Salman one minute, send General Sisi
massive amounts of arms and money the next, announce that his DOJ
will continue to pursue Assange’s imprisonment, and then somehow,
after seeing all that, say and
believe
that we have to go to war with or bomb or sanction some other country
because it’s the role of the U.S. to protect and defend freedom and
human rights in the world. If the U.S. Government can get people to
actually believe that,
what can’t they get them to believe?
The same trends of repression, censorship and
ideological homogeneity plaguing the national press generally have
engulfed the media outlet I co-founded, culminating in censorship of my
own articles.

De kop
van het artikel: ‘Analyse: de EU bevordert geen vrede en
mensenrechten’, was voldoende voor mij om het artikel te lezen……
Volkomen
terecht wordt gewezen op de algehele hypocrisie in de EU waar men als
het gaat om wapenexport totaal geen moeite heeft met oorlog en grove
mensenrechtenschendingen…….
Het
voorbeeldland dat men aanhaalt is Saoedi-Arabië, dat volkomen lak
heeft aan mensenrechten en bijna dagelijks mensen laat onthoofden op
basis van valse beschuldigingen en in eigen land ook nog eens het
sjiitische deel van de bevolking terroriseert…… (S-A is voor het
overgrote deel soennitisch)
Daarnaast
voert Saoedi-Arabië een genocide uit in Jemen, dit met hulp van
Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE), Egypte en naar het schijnt
Marokko….. Voorts wordt deze reli-fascistische terreurstaat
gesteund door de VS (zowel met directe militaire hulp bij de genocide, training van militairen en middels grote
wapenleveringen), Groot-Brittannië (militaire training en grote
wapenleveringen) en Frankrijk (idem als GB). Daarnaast leveren een
aantal EU lidstaten, waaronder Nederland, wapens aan die
reli-fascistische terreurstaat…..
Nederland
probeert dit zogenaamd legaal te doen door te stellen dat alleen
wapenonderdelen worden geleverd, alsof die na opbouw met andere
onderdelen niet worden gebruikt om vooral weerloze mensen in Jemen met massa’s tegelijk te vermoorden….. Jammer dat de schrijver van het artikel, Gabriel van de
Bloemfontein, niet het woord genocide gebruikt in zijn artikel als
het om Jemen gaat, zeker daar de Saoedische terreurcoalitie er alles
aan heeft gedaan en doet om de burgerbevolking te vermoorden, zelfs
akkers worden gebombardeerd zodat er geen voedsel kan worden
geproduceerd voor de door honger getroffen bevolking…… Honger, daar deze
terreurcoalitie de grenzen van Jemen blokkeert en op zee de havens in
handen van de Houthi-rebellen blokkeert, zelfs met hulp van de VS
marine….. Alleen al het wapen van honger gebruiken is één van de
grootste bewijzen dat het hier om een genocide gaat…… Om maar te
zwijgen over de bombardementen op: -woonwijken, -scholen,
-gemeenschapscentra, -ziekenhuizen, -markten,
-waterzuiveringsinstallaties, -rioleringsinfrastructuur,
-energiecentrales en zoals gezegd akkers…. Deze bombardementen
hebben ervoor gezorgd dat er naast honger ook cholera en difterie is uitgebroken in Jemen……
Lees het
duidelijke schrijven van van de Bloemfontein en het zal je duidelijk
zijn dat de EU allesbehalve een garantie is tegen oorlog….. Neem
wat dat betreft ook het steeds weerkerende pleidooi voor een EU
leger, dit ‘tegen Russische agressie’**, terwijl nu juist de EU, in de
vorm van NAVO-lidstaten samen met de VS, dood en verderf heeft gezaaid
in illegale oorlogen tegen: Afghanistan, Irak, Libië en Syrië….
Ook de oorlog tegen de bevolking van Oost-Oekraïne is mede te danken aan
de EU……. Jammer dat ook van de Bloemfontein spreekt over de
annexatie van De Krim, terwijl de bevolking van dit schiereiland niet wenste te leven
onder de corrupte neonazi-regering Porosjenko, die door de de VS (met
hulp van de EU) werd geparachuteerd als juntaleider nadat men de
democratische gekozen president Janoekovytsj verjaagde…. De opstand in Oekraïne werd dan ook door de VS georganiseerd, geregisseerd en gekocht met 4 miljard dollar door Hillary Clinton, destijds minister van buitenlandse zaken onder ‘vredesduif’ Obama…. De bevolking van De Krim besloot zich in een door internationale
waarnemers als eerlijk en goed verlopen referendum aan te sluiten bij Rusland en dat met een
enorme meerderheid aan stemmen, ook onder de oorspronkelijke bevolking van De
Krim…….
Wat ik
al zo vaak heb gesteld op deze plek: NEXIT NU!! (en reken maar dat
men dit wil voorkomen, Rob Jetten van D66 wil het EU lidmaatschap
zelfs in de grondwet verankeren***, de schoft!! Men is als de dood voor de
mogelijkheid dat over een paar jaar zal blijken dat de Brexit een
zegen is voor de Britten…….) De ons omliggende EU-lidstaten
Duitsland (en de daarachter liggende landen) en België kunnen
eenvoudigweg niet zonder Nederland, met haar delta en uitstekende
infrastructuur, ofwel na een NEXIT zal men zaken moeten blijven doen
met Nederland! Ach best kans dat binnen 5 jaar nog meer landen
besluiten de EU te verlaten, dan is er nog maar een beetje tocht
nodig en de EU sodemietert in elkaar!!!
Analyse:
de EU bevordert geen vrede en mensenrechten
Volgens sommigen is de EU
een waardengemeenschap die opkomt voor vrede en mensenrechten in de
Unie en op de wereld. Zonder de EU zou meteen de oorlog uitbreken,
krijgen we vaak geïndoctrineerd. Is het echt waar dat de EU vrede en
mensenrechten bevordert of is dat meer een propagandamiddel voor
angst en gehoorzaamheid aan de macht in Brussel en Luxemburg?
Achtergrond
EU-lidstaten
die wapens en andere militaire goederen exporteren hebben een
exclusieve bevoegdheid daarin. Dat wil zeggen dat landen in de EU
zelfstandig wapens mogen exporteren. Wel moeten de lidstaten zich aan
de criteria van de EU houden: het Gemeenschappelijk Standpunt
2008/944/GBVB van de Raad van 8 december 2008. Dit is regelgeving
inhoudende gemeenschappelijke voorschriften voor de controle op de
uitvoer van militaire goederen en technologie. Het is namelijk
belangrijk om ‘EU-waarden’ te respecteren wanneer er wapens
worden geëxporteerd. Wat betekent dit in de praktijk?
Criteria voor militaire
export [1]
Voor
het uitvoeren van wapens naar buiten de EU moeten acht criteria
nagelopen worden. Ten eerste mag de uitvoer niet in strijd zijn met
internationale verplichtingen en regelgeving, zoals de export van
anti-personeel-mijnen. Ten tweede moet er gekeken worden of
mensenrechten in het land van eindbestemming gerespecteerd worden.
Een uitvoervergunning wordt geweigerd indien er een risico bestaat
dat de militaire goederen worden gebruikt voor binnenlandse
onderdrukking. Ten derde worden er geen wapens geëxporteerd naar
landen, wanneer door de export een gewapend conflict wordt uitgelokt
of verlengd. Ten vierde wordt de uitvoervergunning geweigerd indien
het ontvangende land de wapens gaat gebruiken voor agressie jegens
een ander land of ermee wil dreigen. Ten vijfde moet er rekening
gehouden worden met de eigen veiligheid. Er worden geen wapens
verkocht aan landen die vijandig tegen ons zijn. Ten zesde wordt er
geen uitvoervergunning verleend aan landen die terrorisme hebben
gesteund. Ten zevende moet er rekening worden gehouden met het gevaar
dat het kopende land de militaire goederen weer uitvoert neer een
ongewenst ander land. Als laatste criterium geldt dat er gekeken moet
worden naar de legitieme behoeften van het land van eindbestemming.
Het gaat hierbij om of het kopende land de wapens kan veroorloven in
verhouding met zijn economie.
Saudi-Arabië
Een
land dat al heel lang bovenaan het lijstje van de EU staat wat
betreft militaire export is Saudi-Arabië.[2]
Helaas staat dit land ook vaak hoog in de lijst van de grootste
mensenrechtenschenders ter wereld.[3]
Volgens Amnesty International en Human Rights Watch is er in
Saudi-Arabië nauwelijks vrijheid van meningsuiting, wordt de
doodstraf regelmatig toegepast en worden immigranten opgesloten en
mishandeld.[4]
Saudi-Arabië is ook sinds 2015 direct betrokken bij de oorlog in
Jemen, waarbij volgens de VN 233.000 slachtoffers zijn gevallen.[5]
Niet alle doden zijn echter aan Saudi-Arabië toe te rekenen.
Soort militaire
goederen
Het gaat
voornamelijk om de standaard militaire goederen: vliegtuigen,
geweren, munitie, explosieven en andere militaire technologie.
Opvallend is dat er ook veel export is van de zogenoemde categorie
ML7.[6]
In de gemeenschappelijke EU-lijst van militaire goederen staat dat
ML7 chemische stoffen betekent: ‘’stoffen voor
oproerbeheersing’’. De EU noemt dit biologische of radioactieve
stoffen om meer slachtoffers en schade onder mensen te
veroorzaken.[7]
Hieronder vallen zenuwgassen, blaarvormende gassen,
stikstofmosterdgassen en andere verdovende gassen.[8]
Vanuit de EU is aan meer dan 10 miljoen euro van deze militaire
goederen verkocht aan Saudi-Arabië in 2019. De EU heeft de afgelopen
jaren van schande gesproken over Assad vanwege chemische wapens,
hetgeen door verschillende partijen betwist wordt. Ondertussen
exporteren ze wel vermoedelijke chemische wapens naar Saudi-Arabië,
waar de mensenrechten volgens mensenrechtenorganisaties evenmin
gerespecteerd worden. De drie grootste exportbestemmingen van de EU
boven Saudi-Arabië zijn Egypte, India en de Verenigde Arabische
Emiraten.[9]
Oekraïne
Van
november 2013 tot februari 2014 waren er enorme protesten in Kiev, de
hoofdstad van Oekraïne. Deze demonstraties richtten zich tegen
Viktor Yanukovich, een president die zelfs volgens internationale
waarnemers democratisch en eerlijk was verkozen. De EU bemoeide zich
openlijk met deze binnenlandse aangelegenheid van Oekraïne en gooide
veel extra olie op het vuur. Ze hebben laten zien dat ze geen begrip
hebben van de licht ontvlambaarheid van sommige onderwerpen. En als
ze het wel wisten, dan laat dat de ware aard van de EU zien. Het
gevolg van deze inmenging was dat de onrust in de hoofdstad zich
verplaatste naar het hele land: de Krim werd door Rusland
geannexeerd, wat door de bevolking geaccepteerd werd en na
verschillende aanslagen in het land brak de oorlog uit in
Oost-Oekraïne.
Veel burgerdoden
De
VN sprak twee jaar geleden over 13.000 doden, waaronder heel veel
onschuldige burgers, maar inmiddels zijn dat er meer.[10]
Dit wordt door de EU vaak aan Rusland toegerekend, dat natuurlijk ook
een belangrijke rol vervult in dit conflict. Het was echter
Poroshenko die bombardementen op onschuldige burgers in hun huizen en
appartementen liet uitvoeren.[11]
Dat je als overheid reageert op een gebied dat zich afscheidt is
begrijpelijk, maar als je opzettelijk duizenden onschuldige burgers
de dood in bombardeert, dan heb je niks begrepen van mensenrechten.
Zeker niet als je als EU zijnde zijn ‘vredesplan’ goedkeurt.[12]
De oorlog duurt nog steeds voort in 2021.
Conclusie De
EU verkoopt veel wapens aan landen die regelmatig als
mensenrechtenschenders op de vingers worden getikt, waaronder landen
waarvan de EU dat zelf ook vindt. De EU heeft verder laten zien
bewust de andere kant op te kijken als het gaat om licht ontvlambare
conflicten. Een oorlog in Europa heeft aan zo’n 15.000 mensen het
leven gekost en er lijkt nog geen einde aan te komen. En zoals vaker
in de discussie over de Europese Unie heb je enerzijds de types als
Verhofstadt, die na elk falend EU-beleid roepen om meer macht over te
dragen aan de EU. Anderzijds heb je mensen die roepen om een vertrek
uit ‘de slechte EU’. Eén ding is wel zeker, namelijk dat je het
met een korreltje zout moet nemen, wanneer de EU stelt dat ze voor
vrede en mensenrechten opkomen.

een geweldig artikel van Caitlin Johnstone waarin ze de VS met Biden
als president over de meetlat legt. Met Biden is er geen eind gekomen
aan: de dominantie van de VS over de wereld met haar meer dan 800
militaire bases, of aan de voortdurende
oorlogsvoering in gebieden waar de VS niets te zoeken heeft, terwijl
de VS en de rest van het westen Rusland, China en Iran beschuldigen
van wat de VS zelf doet, maar waar er geen flinter aan bewijs kan worden geleverd voor de
leugen dat deze 3 landen zoals de VS:

Rijk uitkomt oorlog voeren…….
elk land dat zich niet schikt naar de
mores van de VS wordt bestoken met illegale sancties (zonder
instemming van de VN) zodat mensen elders zelfs honger moeten lijden
en met bosjes overlijden daar zo’n land geen medicijnen kan krijgen
vanwege die moordende sancties (die bijvoorbeeld in Venezuela al aan meer dan 50.000 mensen het leven hebben gekost…..)…..
opstanden organiseert en regisseert en als dat
niet leidt tot een wisseling van VS vriendelijk regime:
de militaire top van dat
land omkoopt om een door de CIA geregisseerde staatsgreep uit te
voeren en als ook dat niet helpt:
een illegale oorlog
begint tegen zo’n land, waarvoor de geheime diensten (CIA en NSA) die ten dienste staan van de zittende administratie ongeloofwaardige leugens verzinnen om e.e.a. te ‘legitimeren….’ (waar de rest van het westen dan als een hitsige rekel achteraan loopt……)
‘Het
is een schande dat men op het internet maar kan zeggen wat men wil’,
zo stellen de Republikeinen en de Democraten, echter dat de politici,
de reguliere media en de sociale media de boel openlijk belazeren op deze media wordt als
normaal gezien en moet vooral in stand worden gehouden……. Er wordt
steeds meer censuur uitgeoefend op de sociale media (ook in ons land) en men wil zelfs
‘vijandige sites’ weren van het web (sites van mensen die kritiek hebben op de gevestigde fascistische neoliberale status quo en de agressie van het westen)…… Voor die censuuur pleiten ook de reguliere westerse (zogenaamd onafhankelijke) media, terwijl ze zelf meters aan bewijzen hebben geproduceerd waaruit duidelijk blijkt dat ze zelf nepnieuws (fake news) brengen en de gebruikers van die media op zo’n manier manipuleren dat je van hersenspoelen kan spreken…….

mass media have been acting weird the last few years because the US
is approaching post-primacy and various propaganda ops are needed to

hey no one’s perfect” attitude people have toward mainstream
politicians who literally facilitate acts of mass murder. It’s like
“Yeah my husband kills and mutilates prostitutes, but who has a
perfect marriage?”

Bush’s
“war on terror” never ended, they just stopped calling it
that. The only thing that changed was the branding; they just stopped
using the “war on terror” label while expanding and
normalizing the same protocols and operations. Now even relatively
“anti-war” politicians openly support these massive
military engagements on the other side of the planet which horrified
peace activists in the Bush era.

military bases, waging nonstop wars and orchestrating the destruction

live itself. Breath comes in and out on its own. Legs move this way

Aan de labels direct onder dit bericht heb ik ook ‘genocide’ en ‘Jemen’

Biden
was tegen het geven van $ 2,000.– voor Coronahulp aan iedere volwassen burger in de
VS, zoals Trump wilde (ook een groot aantal Republikeinse politici was tegen Trumps voorstel), hoewel Biden daar een vreemde draai maakte en beloofde dat iedere VS ingezetenen in de volwassen leeftijd $ 1,400.– extra zou krijgen (bovenop de in afgelopen december beloofde $ 600.–), daardoor dacht het volk dat Biden uiteindelijk toch voor het geven van een cheque was van in totaal $ 2,000.–. Echter volgens zeggen is die eerder beloofde $ 600,– niet uitgekeerd, zodat men uiteindelijk geen $ 2,000.– zal krijgen maar $ 1,400.–……. Hoe kan je mensen nog zwaarder belazeren, vergeet niet dat het overgrote deel van de VS bevolking door de Coronacrisis zo in de problemen zit dat zelfs $ 2,000.– de spreekwoordelijke druppel op de gloeiende plaat is…….
Ook deportaties van ‘illegale vluchtelingen’ gaat gewoon door onder Biden, inclusief de kooien voor kinderen van deze mensen (die overigens al onder Obama zouden zijn gebruikt…….)
Wat
betreft Iran heeft Biden nog niets gezegd over het weer deelnemen aan
de P5+1 nucleaire deal (of JCPOA) en het is onwaarschijnlijk dat
dit zal gebeuren, het ziet er naar uit dat de sancties ‘gewoon van
kracht blijven….’
Oké
niet echt nieuws daar veel al bekend was in de aanloop naar de
presidentsverkiezingen in de VS en voor de inauguratie van Biden tot
president, zoals de
steun voor de sancties tegen Venezuela, die al aan meer dan 50.000
mensen het leven hebben gekost…… Hare kwaadaardigheid Kamala Harris zei
al voor de verkiezingen dat het beleid ten aanzien van Venezuela en Iran niet
zou veranderen en Biden zei dat het beleid van de Trump administratie
t.a.v. die
landen slap was, terwijl de sancties van de Trump administratie al aan zoveel mensen het leven hebben
gekost…… (hoe de sancties hebben bijgedragen aan de dood van Iraniërs is niet bekend maar ook dat moeten er enkele tienduizenden
zijn……)
De genocide die de Saoedische terreurcoalitie uitvoert in Jemen (met politieke en militaire steun van de VS en Groot-Brittannië) behoort al evenmin tot de zorgen van Biden, hoewel hij een voorlopige stopzetting van wapenleveranties aan Saoedi-Arabië heeft aangekondigd, ziet het er niet naar uit dat hij die reli-fascistische staat de duimschroeven zal aandraaien en reken maar dat de wapenleveranties binnen afzienbare tijd zullen worden hervat, er wordt simpelweg enorm veel verdiend aan deze terreurstaat…….. (over de militaire hulp bij het uitvoeren van de genocide heeft Biden al helemaal niets gezegd, dus deze zal gewoon nog steeds plaatsvinden, o.a. middels hulp bij de zeeblokkade van Jemenitische havensteden, zodat humanitaire hulpgoederen via die weg amper of niet de zo geterroriseerde Jemenitische bevolking kunnen bereiken…..)
De reguliere pers, die welkom is in het Witte Huis voor
persconferenties van Bidens woordvoerder Jen Psaki, mag geen
directe vragen meer stellen, maar moet deze van tevoren inleveren, om te
voorkomen dat Psaki met een ‘houten bek’ staat en antwoorden schuldig
moet blijven, ofwel weg beloofde transparantie en reken maar dat echt

hier om reguliere (massa-) media in de VS en die zijn zelf al heel

gezegd: er verandert maar weinig in Washington, al zal Biden lang
niet zoveel Twitterberichten de wereld insturen, ziet het ernaar uit
dat hij een veel agressievere buitenlandpolitiek zal voeren,
inclusief het voeren van illegale oorlogen……

Daarnaar gevraagd begon Psaki te ‘babbelen’ over Yellen en dat het zo geweldig is dat ze eerste vrouw is op die positie, zonder de vraag te kunnen beantwoorden…. Terecht stelt Caitlin dat gezien eerlijkheid over beleid de Trump administratie daar beter aan voldeed dan wat Biden tot nu toe laat zien……:

House Reporters: Biden Team Wanted Our Questions in Advance”
reports that the White House press corps is being pressured tovoor de
inauguratie van Biden tot president provide briefing questions ahead
of time in a way that makes even mainstream media journalists
uncomfortable.
“While
it’s a relief to see briefings return, particularly with a
commitment to factual information, the press can’t really do its job
in the briefing room if the White House is picking and choosing the
questions they want,” one White House correspondent told The
Daily Beast.
“That’s not really a free press at all.”
“It
pissed off enough reporters for people to flag it for the [White
House Correspondents Association] for them to deal with it,”
another source reportedly said.
While
Obama’s deputy press secretary Eric Schultz calls
the move
“textbook communications work” designed to ensure that
Biden’s press secretary has answers ready instead of having to
“repeatedly punt questions”, clearly the reporters on the
job feel differently.
“The
requests prompted concerns among the White House press corps, whose
members, like many reporters, are sensitive to the perception that
they are coordinating with political communications staffers,”
writes the Beast.
Having
questions in advance would indeed be a good way to help insulate
press secretary Jen Psaki (for whom liberals are already developing
an unwholesome
celebrity crush)
from hard questions. This would avoid sticky situations like when
Psaki deflected inquiries about treasury secretary Janet Yellen’s
conflict of interest with the Citadel controversy by babbling
about Yellen being the first woman
in her position and claiming
that receiving $800,000 in speaking fees from that company is no
reason for her to recuse herself.
So
this is just one more item on the steadily growing pile of fake
things about this administration. Everything about it is phony. This
is the Astroturf Administration.
Biden
and his cohorts point-blank
lied
about sending out $2000 checks.
Re-entering
the Iran nuclear deal seems as
far off as ever,
with the administration continuing
Trump’s “maximum pressure campaign” even as Tehran says
the US ending its cruel sanctions is a precondition to resuming the
deal.
Biden
still hasn’t taken any solid steps to end the horrific war on Yemen,
or even to end US facilitation of the slaughter as he promised
on the campaign trail (he could
have taken major steps
toward doing this the
day he took office
and chose not to).
While
this president hides from the press due to his rapidly
deteriorating ability
to answer questions in complete sentences, the mass media churn
out think pieces
about how taking himself out of the spotlight is actually a brilliant
political move.
As Our
Hidden History
recently put
it,
“We got sold a sack of political oregano.”
And
that’s all the US empire ever is, really: a murderous, tyrannical
planetary oppressor covered up by varying degrees of dishonesty.
During the Trump administration the depravity was a little more
honest about itself, now during the Biden administration it’s a
little more dishonest. The only major change is the thickness with
which the makeup is slathered over the skull.
Everything
about life in our current world order is dominated by phoniness. Our
culture is manufactured by Hollywood. Our dominating political
structure is manufactured by think tanks. Our perceptions of what’s
going on in the world are manufactured in Langley and Arlington. The
whole thing is so fake and stupid. We’ve got to figure out a way to
snap out of these artificial boxes they are placing over our minds
and these perceptual filters they are placing over our eyes, and
birth something real and authentic into our world.

het bijvoorbeeld om Jemen gaat, wij de terroristen zijn. In zekere
zin haalt ze met deze stelling haar gelijk, immers onze (westerse)
regeringen ondernemen geen actie tegen de Saoedische terreurcoalitie (sterker nog men levert zelfs wapens aan de grootste dader Saoedi-Arabie
en wij laten dit gebeuren…..)……. We kijken nog wel even op als er een
spaarzaam bericht met bijvoorbeeld weer een waarschuwing van VN baas
Guterres volgt waarin hij de wereld wijst op het vreselijke lot
van de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen, maar vervolgen gewoon weer ons
dagelijkse leven na te hebben verzucht dat het vreselijk is wat er in
Jemen gebeurt……
Vreemd
dat Caitlin niet spreekt over genocide, terwijl die intussen al bijna
6 jaar gaande is en waarbij niet 233.000 mensen zijn overleden zoals
de VN inschat (een cijfer dat Caitlin aanhoudt), maar minstens 500.000, waaronder ten minste 100.000
kinderen……
Een
paar jaar geleden liet Rutte 3 en dan m.n. zijne VVD leeghoofdige hufterigheid
Blok (minister van BuZa) weten dat er geen sprake was van
wapenleveringen waarvoor hij een vergunning had afgegeven, maar van
wapenonderdelen en die vallen volgens de schoft niet onder de
wapenboycot tegen de reli-fascistische terreurstaat
Saoedi-Arabië…… Alleen daarvoor zou Blok al vervolgd moeten
worden door het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC), maar dat strafhof is
er vooral om gekleurde oorlogsmisdadigers te vervolgen……..
Zoals gezegd, het gaat niet alleen om de westerse politici die een
genocide mogelijk maken (terwijl ze na Rwanda stelden dat dit nooit
weer zou worden toegestaan….), maar ook wij zijn verantwoordelijk
daar we niet in opstand komen tegen onze inhumane neoliberale
regeringen voor wie geld verdienen belangrijker is dan mensenlevens,
zelfs als die levens van kinderen zijn……
Wat de VS aangaat is er al helemaal geen excuus meer, deze grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, steunt de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, zowel militair als middels wapenleveranties. Zo helpt de VS als Groot-Brittannië mee aan de genocide in Jemen, door het trainen van de Saoedische militairen, de VS gaat nog verder dan GB doordat het land meehelpt aan de zeeblokkade van havens die in handen zijn van de Houthi rebellen, zodat er geen voedsel, water,medicijnen en brandstof kan worden geleverd……. Het gaat hier om rebellen die het sjiitische volk proberen te beschermen tegen het grootschalige geweld van die terreurcoalitie…… Voorts is de VS af en aan met speciale troepen op Jemenitische bodem om te vechten tegen de Houthi’s…… Tot voor een paar jaar voorzag de VS het vliegend oorlogstuig van de terreurcoalitie van brandstof tijdens de vluchten (en dat gratis!!), zodat men zo effectief mogelijk kon bombarderen, voorts regelde de VS de coördinatie van de bombardementen met haar AWACS vliegtuigen en als ik me niet vergis doet de VS dat nog steeds…….
The
Trump administration is reportedly
close
to moving the Houthi rebels in Yemen onto its official list of
designated terrorist organizations with the goal of choking them off
from money and resources. The head
of the UN’s World Food Program
along with many
other experts caution
that this designation will prolong the horrific war which has claimed
over a quarter million lives and create an impenetrable barrier of
red tape stopping humanitarian aid from getting to the Yemeni people.
The
United Nations conservatively
estimates that
some 233,000 Yemenis have been killed in the war between the Houthis
and the US-backed Saudi-led coalition, mostly from what it calls
“indirect causes”. Those indirect causes would be disease
and starvation resulting from what UN Secretary-General Antonio
Guterres calls “the worst famine the world has seen for
decades”.
When
people hear the word “famine” they usually think of mass
hunger caused by droughts or other naturally occurring phenomena, but
in reality the starvation deaths we are seeing in Yemen (a huge
percentage of which are children
under the age of five)
are caused by something that is no more natural than the starvation
deaths you’d see in a medieval siege. They are the result of the
Saudi coalition’s use of blockades and its deliberate
targeting of
farms, fishing boats, marketplaces, food storage sites, and cholera
treatment centers with
airstrikes aimed at making the Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen so
weak and miserable that they break.
In
other words, the US and its allies have been helping Saudi Arabia
deliberately kill children and other civilians on mass scale in order
to achieve a political goal. Which would of course be a perfect
example of any standard definition of terrorism.
Heartbreaking!
I never imagined that one day I will see children like this in #Yemen!
We
are the terrorists. Saudi Arabia, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada,
France and every other nation which has facilitated the horrific mass
atrocity in Yemen–this tight globe-spanning power alliance is a
terrorist organization the likes of which the world has never seen
before. The idea of the unfathomably savage and bloodthirsty US
empire designating the Houthis as a terrorist organization is the
least funny joke that has ever been told.
We
are the terrorists. I say “we” instead of our governments
because if we are honest with ourselves, we as a civilian population
are complicit in this slaughter. The horrors in Yemen are without
question the worst thing that is happening in the world right now,
yet they comprise barely a blip in our social consciousness. The
overwhelming majority of us have seen the pictures and videos of
starving Yemeni children, thought something along the lines of “Oh
a famine, that’s so sad” and gone back to thinking about sports
or whatever other insipid nonsense occupies most of our attention.
We
are the terrorists. Yes it is true that we have been propagandized
into our complicity with this terrorism and if the news media were
doing its purported job Yemen would be front and center in our
attention, but we are still complicit. We are still participating in
it, still living in a society that is woven of the fabric of
slaughter and brutality without rising up and using the power of our
numbers to force a change. Just because you are unaware that you
sleep on a bed of butchered children doesn’t mean you’re not lying in
it.

We
can begin waking up together. Waking up our friends and neighbors,
spreading consciousness of what’s going on, raising awareness of the
horrors our governments are perpetrating in Yemen and in other
nations in the name of imperialist domination, helping each other see
through the veils of propaganda to how much life and how many
resources are being spent on inflicting unspeakable acts of terror
upon our world instead of benefiting humanity.
The
US government could force an end to the horrors in Yemen almost
immediately if it really wanted to. If maintaining unipolar hegemony
were suddenly advanced by giving the Houthis victory in Yemen instead
of fighting to ensure Washington-aligned rule, the Saudis would
withdraw and the war would be over within days. We could make this
happen if we could spread enough awareness of the reality of what’s
happening in Yemen.

During
this whole stupid US presidential race I heard very few arguments in
favor of a Biden vote that struck me as anything more than the product
of ignorance, propaganda distortion and partisan…
Break
the silence on Yemen. Pressure Biden to fulfil
his campaign pledge
to end the war which was initiated under the Obama-Biden
administration. Oppose US imperialism. Weaken public trust in the
mass media which refuse to give us a clear picture of what’s going on
in the world. Help people realize that their perception of reality is
being continually warped and distorted by the powerful.
We
end our role in the terrorism of the empire by awakening the citizens
of that empire to its acts of terror.

simpele bewoordingen betoogt Caitlin Johnstone dat er geen
oorlogshelden zijn, alleen oorlogsslachtoffers. Terecht merkt ze op
dat iedereen wegkijkt van de immer voortgaande genocide* in Jemen, alsof er iemand in een ruimte wordt
gemarteld en de andere aanwezigen alleen spreken over politiek aan de
eettafel ‘zonder iets te merken……’
Aan
degenen die in de VS stellen dat de verkiezingsresultaten dubieus en
frauduleus zijn, vraagt ze terecht waarom ze niets doen aan een kiesstelsel
dat het slechtste is in de westerse wereld……
De
reguliere (massa-) media in de VS zouden niet uitmaken wie er
president wordt, waar Caitlin op zegt dat dit wel degelijk zo is: die
media hebben 2 jaar lang progressieve kandidaten als Sanders
en Warren afgebrand en hebben het laatste jaar niet anders gedaan dan Joe Biden
promoten als nieuwe president……
De
Republikeinen hebben 4 jaar lang over Russiagate gezegd, dat dit geen probleem
was voor Trump en dat dit een coup was van de Democraten tegen zijn administratie….. Democraten spreken
van een coup door het gedrag van de zittende Trump administratie, die
de Democraten weigert te helpen om de volgende administratie (van
Biden) voor te bereiden op het regeren……. Ofwel de politici van
het land dat overal en nergens staatsgrepen organiseert, hebben geen
idee van wat het begrip ‘coup’ inhoudt…..
Volgens Caitlin hebben de de reguliere westerse (politieke) media, in bezit van plutocraten, een collectieve doctrine opgezet waarmee ze iedereen duidelijk maken dat je niet zomaar een oorlog ver weg kan beëindigen en iedereen een idioot is die zegt dat je de troepen terug kan trekken…… Het voorgaande vergelijkt Caitlin met een feitenvrije religieuze doctrine, gebaseerd op blind vertrouwen (en daarmee zegt ze geen woord teveel!).
En
zo gaat Caitlin lekker sarcastisch door in haar schrijven waarin ze
de Democraten, Republikeinen en de zojuist genoemde media, de bel
aanbindt met hun leugens, verdraaiingen en roep om elders geweld uit
te oefenen, zogenaamd om democratie, te brengen, terwijl het echte doel de
grondstoffen van zo’n land zijn en/of de geologische (strategische) ligging van zo’n
land……
De
conclusie is dat het grootste deel van het volk wordt gedomineerd
door: -de machtige welgestelden, -de grote bedrijven, -de liegende geheime diensten plus -de
idem liegende politiek en media, waar de laatste twee het volk in feite
hersenspoelen en dit volk tegelijk voorhouden dat het een vrije wil
heeft…….

Korea and (B) pretend their favorite presidents haven’t been

Liberal
punditry assured us that if Trump was elected in 2016 there’d be
millions of deportations, Muslims in concentration camps and
alt-right militias driving minorities out of the country. Instead we
got another shitty Reagan Republican, total amnesia for Bush and
Obama’s crimes, and a bunch of psychologically traumatized liberals
who just lived through the Holocaust in their minds.

It
is literally impossible to say Trump is uniquely evil among
presidents without rehabilitating George W Bush. It can’t be done,
because nothing Trump did is as bad as an invasion which killed over
a million people, destabilized the Middle East and ushered in an
unprecedented era of military expansionism which displaced tens of
millions of people.
That’s
always been the most destructive element of Trump hysteria: not that
it’s unfair to Trump, but that it necessarily erases the crimes of
his predecessors and
of future presidents. It blurs out the criminal nature of the US
empire as an institution by making it about one guy.

One
party wants to roll back most of the environmental measures. The
other party that wants to implement vastly insufficient environmental
measures which accomplish nothing but allowing liberals feel like
they’re doing something for a few years. These two parties are not
meaningfully different from each other on environmental issues.
❖
In
the old days whole empires were built up around religions and their
theocratic institutions, who used their doctrines to shape society in
service of the powerful. Nowadays the same thing happens, but the
religion is called “capitalism”.
❖
The
plutocrat-owned western political/media class has built up a
collective doctrine that you cannot simply end overseas wars and
bring the troops home, and that anyone who says you can is a lunatic.
That’s all it is though: fact-free religious doctrine, espoused on
blind faith.
When
it comes to large-scale governing and international matters, the
mainstream perspective is only mainstream because extremely wealthy
people poured vast fortunes into making it mainstream. There’s no
collective wisdom or truth in it, it’s just what power wants us to
believe about what’s going on.

De Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE, de Engelse versie is: UAE) en Bahrein hebben een
‘vredesakkoord’ (lees: handelsakkoord) gesloten met de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël en

voortdurende hongersnood in Jemen is het aantal

In Jemen

verdommen…….. Terwijl het toch de westerse politici waren die na
de genocide in Rwanda durfden te zeggen dat dit niet nog eens zou

Dit nog buiten het bombarderen van ziekenhuizen, scholen, waterzuiveringsinstallaties, markten en woonwijken door die terreurcoalitie…….
Het
maakt Trump geen sodemieter uit dat hij met nog meer wapenleveranties een hele berg olie gooit op het al in brand staande Midden-Oosten, het
interesseert hem hoegenaamd geen donder: geld verdienen is het devies
van hem en zijn vrienden in het militair-industrieel complex………
Bovendien
is het voor 100% zeker dat de VS landen als de VAE wil volproppen met
wapens om daar t.z.t. een oorlog mee te kunnen beginnen tegen
Iran……… Iran ook al een land waar de bevolking verzwakt is door
handelen van de VS, in dit geval sancties, die bijna geen land durft
te overtreden, daar ze anders de knoet in de nek zullen krijgen van
de VS en bedrijven die zich niet houden aan de regels kunnen verder
opereren in het buitenland wel vergeten……… Kortom terreur van
enorme omvang, maar ja wat wil je, we hebben hier tenslotte wel te
maken met verreweg de grootste terreurentiteit die deze aarde ooit
heeft gezien: de VS ofwel het Vierde Rijk……..
Het
onderstaand schrijven is van CODEPINK en is een petitie die wij logischerwijs niet kunnen tekenen. Mocht je hier vrienden uit de VS hebben,
of in de VS, vraag ze dan ajb deze petitie te tekenen, immers
het Midden-Oosten heeft allesbehalve nieuwe destabilisatie nodig van
de VS (met hulp van andere NAVO partners, waaronder Nederland), die hebben het gebied al in vuur en vlam gezet en dat tegen de
prijs van meer dan 2,5 miljoen doden in Irak en Syrië, inclusief de doden van de illegale oorlogen tegen Afghanistan en Libië……..)
Oh en
mocht je denken dat het onder Biden beter zal gaan, kan ik je alvast
uit de droom helpen: de kans dat hij Iran daadwerkelijk zal
aanvallen is zelfs groter dan onder Trump….. Vergeet verder niet dat
hij als vicepresident onder Obama heeft meegedaan aan de genocide in Jemen en
ook hij zal met veel plezier de VAE, Bahrein en Saoedi-Arabië
blijven voorzien van wapens, munitie, plus rollend, varend en
vliegend oorlogstuig……..
Over
Saoedi-Arabië gesproken: vreemd dat men in de westerse media net
doet alsof dat land geen banden heeft met Israël, immers zonder dat
er zo’n ‘fake vredesverdrag’ lag of ligt, drijven deze twee landen al
jaren handel onderling en dat had iedere journalist die zichzelf een
beetje serieus neemt kunnen weten…….
Naast
Jemen is het andere grote slachtoffer van deze valse deals het zo
verdrukte Palestijnse volk, ook al een volk dat wat betreft de
westerse reguliere media en politiek kan doodvallen……..

Every
once in a while we find ourselves agreeing with the very person we
are usually railing against. Today, that person is the I ♥️Israel
hawk,
Representative Eliot Engel.
Yesterday,
after President Trump gave notice to Congress that he plans to sell
billions in weapons to the UAE, Engel, chairman of the House Foreign
Affairs Committee, released a statement expressing apprehension.
While his concern (not ours) centered around how this deal might
jeopardize “Israel’s
qualitative military edge,” he also correctly called on Congress
not to rubber-stamp a rushed arms sale that may start a new Middle
East arms race. “Will the price for normalization with Israel be an
infusion of advanced weapons [to the UAE]? Is this wise?” he asked.
He pointed out that weapons to the UAE will likely result in more
Arab states asking for weapons and that this will put American
national security at risk.
While
the UAE officially pulled out of the war in Yemen in 2019, they
remain involved behind the scenes and are yet to be held responsible
for the immense suffering that they caused. As a result of the
Saudi-UAE airstrikes that decimated the healthcare facilities and
infrastructure, Yemenis are suffering from massive malnutrition and
Yemen now has one of the highest COVID death rates in the world. The
UAE has also been found guilty of defying a UN arms embargo to supply
weapons to Libya. The last thing the UAE deserves for what they have
done in Yemen and Libya is a reward of more weapons.
Netanyahu
— who originally pretended that he didn’t know that the
normalization deal included a weapons sales deal — is saying that
if the US sells its highly sophisticated F35s to the UAE, then Israel
needs more weapons to maintain its “qualitative military edge.”
It’s bad enough that the Israel-UAE normalization deal is further
entrenching Israeli apartheid and stomping on Palestinian rights, but
to reward Israel with EVEN MORE WEAPONS is criminal. Israel is a
rogue apartheid state that should be tried at the ICC, not rewarded
with more weapons.

Washington getekende ‘vredesakkoord’ (Abraham-akkoord) tussen
Israël, de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) en Bahrein is een
vehikel om de VS dominantie in het Midden-Oosten te bewaren en is
tegelijkertijd een bondgenootschap tegen ‘Iraanse agressie….’ Natuurlijk is het tevens een
handelsverdrag, zodat Israël haar wapens en drones kan leveren aan
de arabische, soennitische landen die ik zojuist noemde…… (tevens
een ‘mooie gelegenheid’ om ‘de boycot door het westen’ [waar amper
sprake van is] te breken op producten van illegale nederzettingen uit de al
even illegaal door Israël bezette West Bank, ofwel zo kan Israël die foute producten NB kwijt aan arabische staten…..)
Een
‘vredesverdrag’ tussen landen die nooit oorlog voerden, terwijl de
woorden van de fascistische psychopaten Trump en Netanyahu bij de
argeloze kijker/luisteraar de idee doen ontstaan dat deze staten al
decennia in ‘een hete oorlog’ waren verwikkeld……
Zoals
eerder op deze plek gezegd, tevens een ‘mooie gelegenheid’ voor
Israël om het verdrukte Palestijnse volk nog verder te terroriseren
zonder dat een aantal arabische landen in de toekomst aan de bel zullen
trekken……
Gisternacht in het BBC World Service radionieuws van 00.00 u. een
verslaggever die Trump voorzichtig een ‘vredesbrenger’ noemde, de
vredesbrenger voor het Midden-Oosten….. Het is dat het zo triest is, anders zou je je daadwerkelijk doodlachen…… Uiteraard is Trump
allesbehalve een vredesbrenger, hij heeft zo mogelijk de boel nog
verder gedestabiliseerd in dat deel van de wereld……. Waar Israël
nu een nieuwe markt heeft voor haar wapens en foute producten is de
VS al geruime tijd een grote wapenexporteur voor de meest foute dictatuur in het Midden-Oosten, t.w. Saoedi-Arabië, om nog maar te zwijgen over
de militaire hulp van de VS aan de fascistische apartheidsstaat
Israël met 3,8 miljard dollar per jaar…….
Met dit akkoord kan de Trump administratie ook wapens leveren aan de VAE, tot nu toe had deze administratie daar goedkeuring voor nodig van het Congres…….
De
wapens die de VS en Israël leveren en zullen leveren aan de VAE worden o.a.
gebruikt voor de genocide die Saoedi-Arabië met hulp van de VAE,
Egypte (ontvangt ook wapens van de VS) en Marokko uitvoert in Jemen, dit met militaire hulp van de
VS en Groot-Brittannië….. (Israël had eerder al politieke en economische banden aangeknoopt met de reli-fascistische apartheidsstaat Saoedi-Arabië…)
Dit
zogenaamde vredesakkoord is de opmaat naar een illegale oorlog tegen
Iran….. (Saoedi-Arabië zou bezig zijn met de ontwikkeling van
kernwapens en reken maar dat de VS daar de helpende hand biedt…)
Mocht deze reli-fascistische dictatuur (‘koninkrijk’ waarmee ons
koningshuis schandalig genoeg vriendschappelijke banden
onderhoudt….) inderdaad beschikken over kernwapens is een
kernoorlog tegen Iran bijna onvermijdelijk…. Niet vreemd dus dat
Iran haar pogingen om een kernwapen te ontwikkelen weer zou hebben
opgepakt….. (al moet ik zeggen dat deze verdachtmaking van de CIA
komt en die terreurorganisatie spreekt voor het overgrote deel in
leugens…)
Eén
ding is zeker: het door Israël verdrukte Palestijnse volk is het
eerste grote slachtoffer van dit zogenaamde vredesverdrag……

Netanyahu
was in Washington D.C. to sign U.S.-brokered deals with the UAE and
Bahrain today.
Not only are these deals an underhanded way to maintain Israel’s
status quo of land theft and apartheid, but theyalso
come with huge arms sales. Normalization with Israel AND weapons
sales? Let’s go ahead and say it: these “peace” agreements
don’t have much to do with peace. Many politicians around the world
are applauding these deals — but we aren’t celebrating, we are
protesting outside the White House today! Take action right now to tell
Congress not to approve any weapons sales to the UAE, Bahrain, or
other countries involved in the war in Yemen.
The
United States is deeply involved in militarizing and terrorizing the
Middle East, from the $3.8 billion annually we give to Israel in
military assistance to our support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen.
Israel’s normalization deal with the UAE was couched in delaying
annexation, but Netanyahu announced right away that he still plans to
annex, and just
days after the announcement of the normalization deal, news broke
that it contained a “secret clause” providing for billions of
dollars in weapons sales to the UAE from the U.S.
I wonder how long it will be before we hear about a secret weapons
deal for Bahrain?
To
call these self-serving arrangements “peace deals” is a farce.
Not only do these deals pave the way for more weapons sales, but they
were also both brokered without any consideration for the 5 million
Palestinians living under apartheid, occupation, and siege.
Both
the U.S. and Bahrain are part of the Saudi-led coalition that has
been wrecking Yemen for over five years. The UAE says that it ended
its involvement in the war but they still maintain operational
control of several non-state armed groups totaling around 90,000
fighters on the ground in Yemen. Bahrain, which is still part of the
Saudi-led coalition, is also home to a U.S. naval base with almost
8,000 troops. On top of all of this, both the
UAE and Bahrain are repressive dictatorships.
