Biden neemt bestuurslid van wapenfabrikant Raytheon als minister van ‘defensie’: garantie op bloedvergieten

Eerder werd voorspeld dat Joe Biden, de gekozen president van de VS voor de komende 4 jaar, de bloeddorstige psychopaat Michele Flournoy zou benoemen als minister op de post van defensie* (lees: van oorlog), echter de keus schijnt volgens de reguliere (massa) media in de VS te zijn gevallen op de gekleurde ex-generaal Lloyd J. Austin III.

Niet dat de keus een volkomen ander beleid op defensie (lees: oorlogsvoering) zal worden ingezet met Austin, daar ook deze figuur een gewelddadige psychopaat is, die zijn sporen in het bloedvergieten ruim heeft verdiend, zo heeft hij o.a. als opperhoofd van Central Command (CENTCOM) actief gelobbyd om de ‘rebellen’ in Syrië te bewapenen, ‘zodat ze ISIS konden bevechten’ (‘rebellen’ ofwel psychopathische moordenaars, verkrachters, martelbeulen en slavenhandelaren)….. Strijden tegen ISIS? De zogenaamde rebellen waren minstens zo gewelddadig als terreurgroep ISIS en de opzet van de VS was van meet af aan dat deze ‘rebellen’ juist tegen het bewind van Assad zouden vechten, de belangrijkste reden voor de VS om een opstand in Syrië te organiseren die had moeten leiden tot de afzetting van Assad…… De VS heeft zelfs groepen van ISIS strijders (en andere terreurgroepen) vervoerd van Libië naar Syrië (met een tussenstop in Irak, waarna ze met wapens, munitie en rollend oorlogstuig over de grens met Syrië werden begeleid….)……

Verder stond Austin achter het plan om VS militairen te vrijwaren van vervolging voor het begaan van oorlogsmisdaden in Afghanistan….. Daarnaast heeft hij een belangrijke rol gespeeld bij de illegale oorlog van de VS tegen Irak en is hij lid van een hedgefonds dat investeerde in defensiecontractanten als de eerder genoemde Flournoy en de komenden minister van buitenlandse zaken onder Biden, oorlogshitser Tony Blinken……

Misschien wel het meest belachelijke is het feit dat Austin bestuurslid is van oorlogstuig fabrikant Raytheon, dat jaarlijks miljoenen spendeert om te lobbyen bij de VS regering voor contracten en zoveel mogelijk oorlogen……

Caitlin Johnstone die het hieronder opgenomen artikel schreef komt weer lekker sarcastisch uit de hoek en stelt voor om gewoon meteen de firma Raytheon aan te stellen als minister van oorlog, immers bedrijven zijn in de VS rechtspersonen….. Ze suggereert meteen om dit ook te doen met Goldman Sachs als minister van financiën, Exxon Mobile als hoofd van EPA (een organisatie die gaat over milieuvervuiling in de grootste zin van dat woord), Amazon als directeur van de CIA en tot slot Google als directeur van National Intelligence (die gaat over de vele geheime diensten die de VS ‘rijk is’).

Terecht merkt Caitlin op dat het een schande is dat oorlogswinstmakers die pleiten voor meer geweld en bloedvergieten op dergelijke posities worden gezet (de vorige minister van defensie werkte ook al voor Raytheon en was top-lobbyist in Washington als vicepresident voor regeringsrelaties)…… Deze schoften op dergelijk hoge posities in een regering zijn gebaat bij zoveel mogelijk oorlog en bloedvergieten, ofwel ook met Austin zal de VS zich te buiten gaan aan grootschalige terreur die gezien de (recente) geschiedenis garant staat voor massamoorden, verkrachting, marteling, diefstal en grootschalige vernieling (en dat in landen waar noch de VS, noch haar NAVO-bondgenoten, ook maar iets te zoeken hebben….)…..

The mass media are reporting that the Biden camp has selected former general Lloyd J. Austin III to be the next secretary of defense, assuaging fears among antiwar activists that the position would go to bloodthirsty psychopath Michele Flournoy as commonly predicted.

As has become the standard ritual for Biden’s cabinet picks, the mass media are holding a parade to celebrate the fact that Austin would be the first Black chief of the US war machine while virtually ignoring the murderous agendas he has facilitated throughout his career. As head of Central Command Austin actively campaigned to resurrect the Pentagon’s spectacularly failed program of trying to arm “rebels” in Syria to fight ISIS, and in 2014 he backed immunity for US troops from war crimes prosecutions by the government of Afghanistan. He helped spearhead the Iraq invasion, and he is a member of the same private equity fund which invests in defense contractors as Flournoy and Biden’s warmongering pick for Secretary of State Tony Blinken.

Austin is also a member of the board of directors for the war profiteering corporation Raytheon, where he went immediately after his military career. Raytheon spends millions of dollars a year actively lobbying the US government to advance policies which are beneficial to the multibillion-dollar arms manufacturing giant, which of course means lobbying for military expansionism and interventionism. The previous Secretary of Defense Mark Esper also worked for Raytheon, working for years as one of the top corporate lobbyists in DC under the position “Vice President for Government Relations“.

And you know what? I say why not.

Seriously, why not? Why shouldn’t the head of the US murder machine come from a corporation which has made billions of dollars facilitating war crimes in Yemen? Why shouldn’t the most depraved and bloodthirsty regime on this planet have its depravity and bloodshed advanced by a professional war profiteer? The mass military slaughter of the US and its allies has only ever been about power and profit, so why not be honest about it?

Hell, why stop there? Why not make Raytheon itself the Secretary of State? Didn’t the Supreme Court rule that corporations are people anyway? Make Raytheon the Secretary of Defense, make Goldman Sachs the Secretary Treasurer, make ExxonMobil the head of the EPA, make Amazon the CIA Director and Google the Director of National Intelligence. Then you’d have a completely honest face on the head of the US empire.

It’s absolutely insane that our world is being dominated by war profiteers who actively push for more violence and bloodshed because they make money selling the weapons used to perpetrate it. It’s no less evil than if plutocrats were cruising the world murdering people and selling their skins for money; the same number of people would be killed for the same profit incentive, yet people who would recoil in horror at that idea pay no mind to the fact that functionally the same thing is happening with corporate powers like Raytheon.

The only difference between the US war machine and a band of armed crooks murdering people for money is that the US war machine does it at a far greater scale. As long as that’s going on there’s no reason to pretend otherwise. Hopefully people start looking past the smiley faced mask of the empire and begin opening their eyes to the blood-spattered face beneath it.

Jemen: zijn wij niet met z’n allen de terroristen die zovelen al een afschuwelijke dood bezorgden?

Caitlin Johnstone heeft een artikel geschreven waarin ze stelt dat als het bijvoorbeeld om Jemen gaat, wij de terroristen zijn. In zekere zin haalt ze met deze stelling haar gelijk, immers onze (westerse) regeringen ondernemen geen actie tegen de Saoedische terreurcoalitie (sterker nog men levert zelfs wapens aan de grootste dader Saoedi-Arabie en wij laten dit gebeuren…..)……. We kijken nog wel even op als er een spaarzaam bericht met bijvoorbeeld weer een waarschuwing van VN baas Guterres volgt waarin hij de wereld wijst op het vreselijke lot van de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen, maar vervolgen gewoon weer ons dagelijkse leven na te hebben verzucht dat het vreselijk is wat er in Jemen gebeurt……

Vreemd dat Caitlin niet spreekt over genocide, terwijl die intussen al bijna 6 jaar gaande is en waarbij niet 233.000 mensen zijn overleden zoals de VN inschat (een cijfer dat Caitlin aanhoudt), maar minstens 500.000, waaronder ten minste 100.000 kinderen……

Een paar jaar geleden liet Rutte 3 en dan m.n. zijne VVD leeghoofdige hufterigheid Blok (minister van BuZa) weten dat er geen sprake was van wapenleveringen waarvoor hij een vergunning had afgegeven, maar van wapenonderdelen en die vallen volgens de schoft niet onder de wapenboycot tegen de reli-fascistische terreurstaat Saoedi-Arabië…… Alleen daarvoor zou Blok al vervolgd moeten worden door het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC), maar dat strafhof is er vooral om gekleurde oorlogsmisdadigers te vervolgen……..

Zoals gezegd, het gaat niet alleen om de westerse politici die een genocide mogelijk maken (terwijl ze na Rwanda stelden dat dit nooit weer zou worden toegestaan….), maar ook wij zijn verantwoordelijk daar we niet in opstand komen tegen onze inhumane neoliberale regeringen voor wie geld verdienen belangrijker is dan mensenlevens, zelfs als die levens van kinderen zijn……

Wat de VS aangaat is er al helemaal geen excuus meer, deze grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, steunt de Saoedische terreurcoalitie, zowel militair als middels wapenleveranties. Zo helpt de VS als Groot-Brittannië mee aan de genocide in Jemen, door het trainen van de Saoedische militairen, de VS gaat nog verder dan GB doordat het land meehelpt aan de zeeblokkade van havens die in handen zijn van de Houthi rebellen, zodat er geen voedsel, water,medicijnen en brandstof kan worden geleverd……. Het gaat hier om rebellen die het sjiitische volk proberen te beschermen tegen het grootschalige geweld van die terreurcoalitie…… Voorts is de VS af en aan met speciale troepen op Jemenitische bodem om te vechten tegen de Houthi’s…… Tot voor een paar jaar voorzag de VS het vliegend oorlogstuig van de terreurcoalitie van brandstof tijdens de vluchten (en dat gratis!!), zodat men zo effectief mogelijk kon bombarderen, voorts regelde de VS de coördinatie van de bombardementen met haar AWACS vliegtuigen en als ik me niet vergis doet de VS dat nog steeds…….

We Are The Terrorists

The Trump administration is reportedly close to moving the Houthi rebels in Yemen onto its official list of designated terrorist organizations with the goal of choking them off from money and resources. The head of the UN’s World Food Program along with many other experts caution that this designation will prolong the horrific war which has claimed over a quarter million lives and create an impenetrable barrier of red tape stopping humanitarian aid from getting to the Yemeni people.

The United Nations conservatively estimates that some 233,000 Yemenis have been killed in the war between the Houthis and the US-backed Saudi-led coalition, mostly from what it calls “indirect causes”. Those indirect causes would be disease and starvation resulting from what UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres calls “the worst famine the world has seen for decades”.

When people hear the word “famine” they usually think of mass hunger caused by droughts or other naturally occurring phenomena, but in reality the starvation deaths we are seeing in Yemen (a huge percentage of which are children under the age of five) are caused by something that is no more natural than the starvation deaths you’d see in a medieval siege. They are the result of the Saudi coalition’s use of blockades and its deliberate targeting of farms, fishing boats, marketplaces, food storage sites, and cholera treatment centers with airstrikes aimed at making the Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen so weak and miserable that they break.

In other words, the US and its allies have been helping Saudi Arabia deliberately kill children and other civilians on mass scale in order to achieve a political goal. Which would of course be a perfect example of any standard definition of terrorism.

We are the terrorists. Saudi Arabia, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, France and every other nation which has facilitated the horrific mass atrocity in Yemen–this tight globe-spanning power alliance is a terrorist organization the likes of which the world has never seen before. The idea of the unfathomably savage and bloodthirsty US empire designating the Houthis as a terrorist organization is the least funny joke that has ever been told.

We are the terrorists. I say “we” instead of our governments because if we are honest with ourselves, we as a civilian population are complicit in this slaughter. The horrors in Yemen are without question the worst thing that is happening in the world right now, yet they comprise barely a blip in our social consciousness. The overwhelming majority of us have seen the pictures and videos of starving Yemeni children, thought something along the lines of “Oh a famine, that’s so sad” and gone back to thinking about sports or whatever other insipid nonsense occupies most of our attention.

We are the terrorists. Yes it is true that we have been propagandized into our complicity with this terrorism and if the news media were doing its purported job Yemen would be front and center in our attention, but we are still complicit. We are still participating in it, still living in a society that is woven of the fabric of slaughter and brutality without rising up and using the power of our numbers to force a change. Just because you are unaware that you sleep on a bed of butchered children doesn’t mean you’re not lying in it.

We are the terrorists. But we don’t need to be.

We can begin waking up together. Waking up our friends and neighbors, spreading consciousness of what’s going on, raising awareness of the horrors our governments are perpetrating in Yemen and in other nations in the name of imperialist domination, helping each other see through the veils of propaganda to how much life and how many resources are being spent on inflicting unspeakable acts of terror upon our world instead of benefiting humanity.

The US government could force an end to the horrors in Yemen almost immediately if it really wanted to. If maintaining unipolar hegemony were suddenly advanced by giving the Houthis victory in Yemen instead of fighting to ensure Washington-aligned rule, the Saudis would withdraw and the war would be over within days. We could make this happen if we could spread enough awareness of the reality of what’s happening in Yemen.

Break the silence on Yemen. Pressure Biden to fulfil his campaign pledge to end the war which was initiated under the Obama-Biden administration. Oppose US imperialism. Weaken public trust in the mass media which refuse to give us a clear picture of what’s going on in the world. Help people realize that their perception of reality is being continually warped and distorted by the powerful.

George Floyd: de voortdurende politiemoorden op gekleurden in de VS: de witte overheersing met vervolging van gekleurden…..

Na de moord door politieagent Derek Chauvin op George Floyd, sloeg de vlam weer eens in de pan: beelden uit Minneapolis en andere steden in de VS laten ten overvloede nog eens de woede zien van gekleurde mensen die als vuil worden behandeld door de politie in de VS, die jaarlijks een fiks aantal gekleurde mensen vermoorden, waar de daders NB ook nog eens voor het overgrote deel mee wegkomen…..

Op 23 februari dit jaar werd Ahmaud Marquez Arbery door een ex-agent en diens zoon doodgeschoten, alleen omdat hij bezig was met joggen en dat was in de ogen van deze twee fascistische racisten het teken dat hij wel een misdadiger moest zijn, immers de man was gekleurd en hardlopend…… Deze twee fascisten kwamen er in eerste instantie ook nog mee weg, ‘logisch’ immers het zijn witten en die staan nu eenmaal bovenaan de ladder, terwijl gekleurde VS burgers niet eens op die ladder mogen staan….

Afgelopen maart was het de beurt aan Breonna Taylor die in Louisville woonde, zij werd in haar huis doodgeschoten, ofwel vermoord door 3 politiemannen…… Pas deze maand heeft de FBI aangekondigd een onafhankelijk onderzoek in te stellen naar de moord op Taylor…. Lachen past hier niet, anders zou je je daadwerkelijk kapot lachen…… De FBI in combinatie met een onafhankelijk onderzoek is een gotspe!!

De hiervoor opgesomde moorden zijn nog maar het spreekwoordelijke topje van de ijsberg……

 Veel reguliere mediaorganen in de VS klagen vooral over de woede van de gekleurden na de zoveelste politiemoord op een gekleurd persoon, zelfs een eerder als alternatief bekend staand mediaorgaan als Zero Hedge laat vooral de vernielingen zien en laat als klap op de vuurpijl ronduit racistisch en fascistisch commentaar van lezers onder het bericht staan……..

Caitlin Johnstone schreef een artikel na de moord op Floyd, ze analyseert de maatschappij waarin dergelijke moorden als ‘normaal’ worden gezien door de witten en….. de gekleurden….. Waarbij opgemerkt dient te worden dat de gekleurden dit wel als een ‘normale gang van zaken’ zien, echter doordat het in de VS schering en inslag is wat betreft moorrddadig politieoptreden tegen gekleurde mensen, maar waar deze bevolkingsgroep letterlijk doodziek van wordt, we leven immers niet in 1720 maar in 2020…. Het is dan ook allesbehalve vreemd dat de woede van deze mensen telkens weer uit de hand loopt….
Johnstone wijst niet alleen naar de VS waar dergelijk geweld mogelijk is, maar ook naar haar ‘moederland’ Australië, waarover ze volkomen terecht stelt dat dit een door de witten gestolen land is en dat over stromen aan bloed van de oorspronkelijke bewoners, ofwel eenzelfde scenario als in de VS en de rest van de 3 Amerika’s……..
Je zou denken dat het hier wel heel anders aan toegaat en het politiegeweld dat hier wordt gebruikt tegen minderheden, kan niet in de schaduw staan van wat er in de VS gebeurt. Hoewel: ook wij kennen uiterst gewelddadig politieoptreden, neem de moord op Mitch Henriquez….. Henriquez werd zoals Floyd door een politieagent vermoord middels de nekklem, terwijl zo’n 4 andere agenten bovenop het slachtoffer zaten….. De man moet al bijna dood zijn geweest toen men hem in een politiebus sleurde, i.p.v. een ambulance te bellen….. Henriquez moet zijn overleden in die politiebus…… Kortom alle betrokken agenten zijn schuldig aan de moord op Henriquez…… Uiteindelijk werd één agent veroordeeld tot een voorwaardelijke gevangenisstraf van 6 maanden (….) en een jaar ontzegging van de uitoefening van zijn beroep…… ‘Gerechtigheid’ anno 2019……. GGGVD!!!
De politie in Nederland is bij herhaling betrapt op etnisch profileren en toch is er niets veranderd, het gebeurt nog steeds…… Zo zag ik in het begin van de ‘intelligente lockdown’ een paar agenten een gekleurde man apart nemen, terwijl hij zijn fiets op slot wilde zetten, hij werd tegen de muur gezet waarna de twee hem aan de tand voelden over de fiets en waar hij deze gekocht had…. Let wel: de man zag er bepaald niet uit als een verslaafde die fietsen steelt, mooie kleding, alleen wel een heel grote bos met haar en kijk dat is al uiterst verdacht: een gekleurde die een in de ogen van de agenten een dure fiets op slot zet en dan ook nog eens een gekleurde man met een afrokapsel >> ‘uitermate verdacht, zoals je begrijpt….’ Gelukkig lieten de agenten de man vrij snel gaan, maar als witte sta je wel verbluft toe te kijken, walgelijk!!!
Lees de uitstekende overdenking van Johnstone. Eén ding is zeker: voor gekleurden bestaat er amper gerechtigheid als het gaat om politie-inzet (ook in ons land) en zegt het voort!

Meditations On Whiteness

You’ve probably already seen the footage of a white police officer named Derek Chauvin cheerfully suffocating a black man named George Floyd to death with his knee while Floyd pleaded for his life. This went viral around the same time as another viral video where a white woman in Central Park called New York police on a black man who posed no threat to her while making sure to inform the police that he was black, and just weeks after video footage surfaced of a black man named Ahmaud Arbery being shot to death by a white former cop and his son while out for a jog.
So race is on everyone’s mind, and rightly so. And whether we’re honest with ourselves or we throw a bunch of verbiage at it to try and compartmentalize away from it, white people are all aware when we watch George Floyd being torturously murdered that there’s no way it could have been us on the business end of that knee. Not because of our impeccable manners or our sparkling personality, but because our skin is a certain color.
And whether we choose to directly acknowledge this reality or not, we’re going to experience discomfort on some level. And mainly what I want to say here is, that’s okay.
It can be tempting to try and distance ourselves from this discomfort by making it about individuals: that individual cop was a bad, bad man and I would never do such a thing, and I didn’t, so I have no accountability here. And of course it’s true that you were not personally directly responsible for George Floyd’s actual murder, but white people who urgently advance that truism are only ever doing so to avoid confronting the more uncomfortable reality that they live in and benefit from a society which guarantees that they will never be on the receiving end of such brutality.
White people have a lot of unprocessed feelings about racism, their role in it and the extent to which they’ve benefited from it, both in America and here in Australia, where the bright sun on my pale skin is a constant reminder to me that I am an alien on stolen land.
Those unprocessed feelings will probably express themselves in angry vituperative comments on this essay by white people who are afraid of simply feeling their feelings and getting real with themselves, because this is uncomfortable, confrontational stuff.
“Identity politics!” is an objection I often get when I try to talk about the reality of racial power dynamics in our society, probably because I have a lot of readers who follow me because of my criticisms of the Democratic Party which often cynically exploits race and racism to advance political agendas.
But this isn’t identity politics; it’s not about politics at all. This is about healing, and being real with ourselves.
“Bah, white guilt!” is another common objection. “You just want us to feel guilty! How does white people feeling all guilty help fix racism??”
They always talk about guilt. Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt. I never brought guilt up, but that’s what they argue against. Which is of course very telling.
Obviously guilt in and of itself is not the objective here. Nobody’s claiming that the world’s racial wounds would be healed if white people just went around feeling guilty all the time; that’s a vapid strawman that is advanced by white people who don’t want to viscerally grapple with the reality of the advantages their whiteness brings them.
But also, why such a fearful, defensive response to the possibility of experiencing guilt?
Why treat guilt like it’s made of molten lava? Guilt is just a feeling; it won’t hurt you. You just feel it, listen to what it has to say, and then once it’s been felt all the way through it subsides. There’s no need to fear it, and it’s not legitimate to reject ideas on the basis that they might cause you to experience it.

It’s not about guilt, it’s about consciousness and curiosity. Consciousness of the way racial power dynamics play out in our own lives, and curiosity about the experience of other races in our society.


White people are averse to emotionally processing the reality of their privilege for the same reason rich people aggressively insist they worked hard for every penny they have even though they know they received way more opportunities and advantages than the average person ever sees. Life is hard and abrasive for everyone, even for white people and even for rich people, so acknowledging you’ve received a head start in some way over other people can be one more thing in your mind telling you you’re deficient, in addition to your father’s voice and your first love rejecting you and all the other painful inadequacy stories you’ve got circling through your consciousness.
White privilege doesn’t mean white people don’t suffer or that some white people don’t have it harder overall than some black people. All it means is that having white skin is an advantage, and that all other factors being equal a white person will have an easier time in our society than a person of color. And that this is because our society has been shaped by white supremacy for many generations, leaving many remaining effects.
Healing can’t happen without consciousness. Healing our society’s racial wounds won’t happen as long as white people are compartmentalizing away from the reality that our lives have been easier than they would otherwise have been if we’d been born a different race, and that this is because our ancestors killed, enslaved, exploited and oppressed people who didn’t look like them for many generations before we got here. That while we didn’t personally cause this dynamic, we are interwoven into its tapestry and we have risen above others because of it.
And to be honest, if you really determine to get real with yourself and make your white privilege conscious, you will experience guilt at some point. It’s an inescapable part of the journey if you’re being really sincere and getting really curious about what life is like for people of different races in our society. And that’s okay. Guilt is not dangerous; you just feel through it and continue on your journey. It’s not the final destination in the journey, but it’s a river that you will cross along the way.
There are all sorts of conscious and unconscious ways that white people defensively protect a racist system, even when they don’t think of themselves as racist. You can witness these dynamics in a more overt form by simply scrolling through the comments on any of the videos linked here, full of white people arguing in various ways that this isn’t the atrocious thing that people are making it out to be. (Hint: if the only time you talk about racism is to yell at people that something isn’t racist, then you’re protecting racism.) They can happen in much subtler ways as well, throughout all aspects of our life, and it’s only by making them conscious and feeling the feelings that brings up until they are fully felt that these subconscious white supremacy-supporting mental habits can be noticed and uprooted.

My ancestors came to Australia as prisoners, and some almost certainly would have played some role in the genocide against the people who’d been living here for more than 65,000 years before them. And now I live in a society that is dominated by whiteness, and I’ve benefited from that. I’ve never had cause to fear for my life in the presence of a police officer, in fact I’ve never hesitated to call them if I’ve needed their help. I had an easy youth because my parents came from the race that has been favored by generations of white supremacist policies in Australia. Media I consumed growing up consistently featured people who were the same color as me, consistently feeding me through my formative years the message that I can accomplish anything I want in life. I’ve gotten jobs because I understand the subtleties of white culture enough to know how to speak and dress for different interviews, and because I had many white contacts (it’s not what you know, it’s who you know). There are people who pay attention to my words today who wouldn’t give them as much respect if they appeared next to a profile picture with dark skin. There are many other advantages I’ve had that I can’t even know about, since I’ve never lived a day in brown skin.
This is a reality I need to feel into and make conscious if I’m to play my part in our society’s healing of its racial woundedness. And yeah it can bring up uncomfortable emotions. Being white is weird, man. If we live in Australia or North America we’re acutely aware that we’re disconnected from our ancestral roots, but if we go to visit Europe that feels weird and not at all like home too. We walk through the land surrounded by the ghosts of its previous inhabitants, aware that they had a deep connection to it and that we do not. We’re always reaching for culture because we sense intuitively that that’s something people are meant to have, but everything we grasp fails to satisfy in any meaningful way. We’re aware on some level that we have it better than other races, but we also know that life has been cruel and abrasive to us too, and we don’t know how to solve all the problems which white supremacy has caused.
And if we’re honest with ourselves, it brings up a lot of feels. And it’s okay that it does. It’s good that it does. These feelings need to be felt. Really diving down the rabbit hole of racism and our role in it will move mountains inside you that you didn’t even know were there, and there will be some deep, deep emotions underneath them which will bring burning shame, and big tears. Those tears need to come out though. They’re what’s standing between you and true healing.
And when you have processed through that journey, you will no longer have in you the defensiveness about your own white privilege, and any parts of you which were unconsciously defending and protecting white supremacy in that way will have been purged from your system. And you will be in that respect a much more real and authentic human being, with a much more real and authentic relationship with the world. And the world will feel much more like home to you.

Een kort verhaal van Caitlin Johnstone, die de massa´s aanwijst als een slapende reus, die keer op keer in slaap wordt gehouden, terwijl zijn wereld zo verandert dat z’n manier van leven voorgoed voorbij is en de maatschappij ‘voor zijn eigen bestwil’ is veranderd in een enorme gevangenis…… Ofwel de gevolgen van het Cornavirus versnellen de poging om de individuele burger van de wieg tot het graf te volgen, te controleren en te manipuleren, een maatschappij als beschreven in 1984, het boek van George Orwell…….

The Sleeping Giant

A slumbering giant began to stir and awaken.
“Something’s wrong,” he mumbled.
“Now, now, just you relax,” said a small voice. “Everything’s fine.”
The giant cracked an eye open to find a small man in a lab coat holding a needle and syringe half his size.
“I need to get up,” said the giant. “It feels like something’s wrong.”
“Nonsense, everything’s fine,” said the man in the lab coat. “We’ve taken care of everything. You need your rest. We’ll look after you. I’m going to give you some medicine to help you sleep.”
“How long was I asleep for?” the giant asked after wincing from the prick of the needle.
“Not long enough,” said the man. “Rest now. We’ve got everything taken care of.”
The man’s voice faded into blackness as the giant relaxed into the ground and lost consciousness. He dreamed that a great serpent was chasing him.
Much later, the giant awakened with a start to the sounds of distant gunfire and began to get up.
“Shhh, relax! It’s okay,” said the man in the lab coat.
“There is a war!” said the giant. “I must stop it!”
“Yes, there is a war, but it’s a necessary war,” said the man, struggling to fill a giant syringe with green liquid from a container nearby. “The side we’re fighting against is very bad and must be stopped. Their leader persecutes minorities, and kills babies for no reason! And we received intelligence saying that they were preparing to attack us with powerful weapons.”
“Oh that’s terrible!” said the giant, relaxing and laying his enormous head back down.
“Very terrible indeed,” said the man in the lab coat. “It will be over soon though. Victory is right around the corner. Then we’ll have peace.”
“I like peace,” said the giant, screwing his eyes shut as the needle went in.
“Don’t we all?” said the man. “Rest now. Rest.”
Heavy eyelids closed, and the pops and explosions faded into nothingness.
A long time passed. The giant kept having nightmares about a venomous serpent biting his flesh.
Eventually the giant began awakening once again. The gunfire and explosions were still going, and they were louder than before. He opened his eyes and saw the man in the lab coat urinating on a tree.
“You said the war would be over soon,” said the giant.
“Oh! You’re awake!” said the man with a start, hastily zipping up and rushing to his medicine bag.
“Ah, yes, yes the war,” he said as he fumbled to prepare the needle. “Well see we got rid of the bad guy, but that ended up creating a power vacuum and now there’s an even worse bad guy in his place! This one actually eats babies!”
“I feel sick,” said the giant. “Something’s wrong with me. I need to get up.”
“You know I’m glad you brought that up, because it happens that we have put together a party that is dedicated to curing your sickness,” said the man. “You just relax and go back to sleep, and the party will take care of everything.”
“Why are there tubes in my flesh?” asked the giant.
“They’re there to help you become healthy,” the man replied. “Your medicine is ready. Just relax, you’ll feel a slight pin prick.”
“You’re sure you guys have a handle on this?”
“Absolutely. Relax. Trust the party.”
The giant had nightmares that he was trapped in the coils of an enormous serpent. Every time he’d exhale it would squeeze its coils ever tighter around him.
A great long time later, the giant’s eyes opened again. He was lying on his back now, and he could feel tiny ropes being cast over his body.
“Hey what’s going on?” yelled the giant.
“Shhh, relax,” the man in the lab coat said into his ear. “Go back to sleep.”
“They’re tying me up!” the giant protested, beginning to struggle and shake.
“It’s for your safety! Calm down,” said the man. “Sometimes you move in your sleep and we’re worried you might hurt yourself.”
“I still hear the war!” objected the giant. “And I feel even sicker now! What’s happening? You said your party would fix this!”
“There’s been a problem in the party, but we’re fixing it,” said the man. “There is a great revolutionary leader who is fighting to take control of the party, and he will put everything right. Soon big changes will be made, and all will be well.”
“I can make the changes myself!” roared the giant. “I am vast! I am powerful! I will make things right! Untie me and let me up!”
“Yes, you can. Of course you can,” said the man. “But we’ve got to work within the system. If you go upsetting the system, the bad guys will win!”
“Oh well I don’t want the bad guys to win,” the giant said, relaxing slightly.
“Of course you don’t,” said the man. “You are good, and you are mighty. Now relax and go to sleep so we can win this revolution.”
“Okay,” said the giant. “Okay.”
The world fell away after the familiar needle prick, and the giant dreamed he was being swallowed alive by an enormous serpent.
After what felt like a very, very long time, the giant awoke to the sounds of construction. He opened his eyes and, after much straining through badly blurred vision, was able to make out cranes and pulleys all around him, lifting large iron bars which many men were working to affix to an enormous structure being built around him.
“Wh- what is this?” asked the giant. His voice was weak and raspy.
“Relax,” the familiar voice said into his ear. “It’s nothing. Go back to sleep.”
“They’re building a cage around me,” the giant whispered.
“It’s for your safety,” said the man in the lab coat. “We need to protect you from the bad guys while you sleep.”
The giant struggled to get up but couldn’t move.
“Why am I tied down?”
“It’s for your safety, remember? Your safety is our highest priority.”
“I am sick,” said the giant. “I’m sick, and I’m weak. I need help.”
“We are helping you,” said the man. “We are making you well.”
“No, no you’re not. You’re making me sick. You’re making me weak. These tubes you’ve got in me. They’re not helping me, they’re draining me.”
“Nonsense. You’re imagining things.”
“You’re using me. You’ve been using me this entire time.”
“That’s a paranoid delusion. You’re paranoid and crazy. I’m going to give you some medicine to calm down.”
“No. No!”
The needle went in, followed by the familiar darkness.
“One of these days,” thought the giant as he slipped away. “One of these days I should definitely get up.”

Sanders vs. Biden, een strijd die door de media, de grote bedrijven en de Democratische Partij werd gewonnen

Sanders gooide onlangs de handdoek in de ring, waardoor we nu met Trump zitten, een fascistisch psychopathische president die opgaat voor nog een termijn en met Biden, de Democratische kandidaat, die zowel (als Trump) oorlogsmisdadiger is, er al een paar decennia lang een neoliberale agenda op na houdt* en die als Trump intussen ook wordt beschuldigd van verkrachting…… Voorts moet gezegd worden dat Biden, gezien zijn optreden de laatste maanden minstens de indruk wekte dementerend te zijn, vanmorgen nog hoorde ik deze hufter spreken over Sanders die zijn campagne steunt, wat een geklungel, je krijgt zwaar de indruk dat hij niet weet wat te zeggen………..

Caitlin Johnstone schreef een artikel over deze zaak, waarin ze uitlegt hoe het mogelijk is dat we met 2 van dit soort kandidaten zitten, dus met Biden en Trump. Van de geheime dienst die van Sanders een Russische kandidaat maakte, tot de top van de Democratische Partij die o.a. in de vorm van Obama zelfs nog op de avond voor Super Tuesday de campagne van Sanders saboteerde….. Zo werden de plannen van Sanders voor onderwijs (o.a. studeren zo goed als gratis maken), een zorgverzekering voor elke inwoner van de VS en bestrijding van de enorme armoede in de VS, als een plan van een waanzinnige voorgesteld, het zou allemaal niet te betalen zijn……..

Het voorgaande terwijl men er geen probleem mee heeft dat de VS intussen: -meer dan 730 miljard uitgeeft aan oorlogsvoering, -kapitalen aan subsdie spendeert voor de winning van schaliegas en -olie, -de geldpersen constant aan heeft staan, om zo te pogen de aandelenkoersen op peil te houden…… Om nog maar te zwijgen over de gigantische hoeveelheden belastinggeld die naar grote bedrijven gaan, o.a. naar landbouw en veeteelt, steenkool winning en de kapitalen die worden gespendeerd aan wapenfabrikanten in de breedste zin van het woord….. Dan is er nog een hele berg aan belastinginkomsten verdwenen, daar de Trump administratie de belastingen voor grote bedrijven en de welgestelden fiks heeft verlaagd……

Hoe is het mogelijk dat de achterban van Trump maar in hem blijft geloven, waar hij hen intussen op enorme schaal heeft besodemieterd en in feite tegen hun belang handelt….. Daar is maar één antwoord op te geven: de reguliere (massa-) media in de VS hersenspoelen de bevolking dusdanig dat ze geloven belang te hebben bij kandidaten als Trump en Biden (2 psychopathische totaal-idioten van partijen die amper van elkaar verschillen, daar zou met Sanders als president een eind aan zijn gekomen dat is zeker, ook al zou hij veel tegenwind hebben gekregen)

So as of right now it’s Trump versus Biden. An incompetent plutocrat president selling himself as an anti-establishment people’s champion while simultaneously advancing garden variety Republican sociopathy, versus a warmongering authoritarian who is too demented to string a coherent sentence together and who is looking more and more credibly to be a rapist.
Needless to say, this is absolute bullshit.
How did we get here? How did we get to the point where the electoral contest to run the most powerful government on the planet is between a racist demented right-wing authoritarian warmongering rapist and another racist demented right-wing authoritarian warmongering rapist? How in the hell did this bullshit happen?
There are a number of factors, including anonymous and unsubstantiated “leaks” from the US intelligence community regarding Russian support for the Bernie Sanders campaign and a shockingly coordinated maneuver by Democratic Party leadership (including former president Obama) to sabotage Sanders in the late hours before Super Tuesday.
But the primary factor by far was domestic mass media propaganda. Propaganda during the primary season of course, with the billionaire press showing a very clear and undeniable bias against Bernie Sanders from the very beginning of the race. Had the Sanders campaign received a normal quality and quantity of mass media coverage for a candidate of his stature, he would doubtless have received far more support than he did. To deny that biased media messaging has an effect would be the same as denying that advertising, a trillion-dollar industry, has an effect.

But it goes so very much deeper than that. The influence of mass media propaganda upon the Democratic primary race was not limited to the propaganda that was employed during the actual contest; it’s been setting the foundation for it since long before that.
Without having been raised in a media environment that is saturated with establishment propaganda, it would never occur to anyone in a million years to describe a violent authoritarian extremist like Joe Biden as a “moderate”. It would never occur to anyone to think of this crazy wingnut as “electable”. It would certainly never occur to anyone that he should be running on the platform of what passes for America’s political left wing.
Joe Biden has been a horrible, evil politician since long before his rape allegations went mainstream and his brain started turning to porridge. If people could gaze with fresh, unmanipulated eyes upon someone who’s dedicated his entire political career to neoliberal exploitation at home and neoconservative mass murder abroad, someone who openly boasts about authoring the foundational documents of the USA PATRIOT Act, someone who promises rich donors that “nothing fundamentally will change” if he’s elected and who they know from experience can be taken at his word, it would never occur to them that this is someone who should be running for any elected office anywhere, let along within spitting distance of the most powerful one in the world.
It is only by the ability of the mass media to manufacture the illusion of normality that this bullshit has been made possible. The way the plutocratic class controls the mass media has given them the ability to persuade people to believe that freakish extremism is normal and healthy objections to oligarchic malfeasance is freakish extremism.

This is the case not just with this bullshit US presidential race, but with all bullshit everywhere. A world where powerful governments attack, destroy, starve and undermine weaker governments which refuse to bow to their interests, a world where the wealthy continue to steal more and more wealth from an increasingly impoverished working class and use the leverage that wealth gets them to steal more, a world where governments demand more and more opacity for themselves and more and more transparency from ordinary people, a world where police are becoming increasingly militarized and speech is becoming increasingly restricted, a world where the response to a global pandemic is not to rally together and overcome but to advance pre-existing authoritarian agendas and manufacture support for new cold war escalations against China.
None of this bullshit would have been possible without all of us having been raised in an atmosphere of mass-scale obfuscation and manipulation. None of us would ever accept such a world without having been manipulated into it, which is why they have done exactly that.
We will not collectively use the power of our numbers to force a change to this oppressive status quo until we can find some way to break free of our psychic bondage to the establishment propaganda machine, and we will not find a way to do that until we change something deep within ourselves about our relationship as a species to mental narrative.
But as things get increasingly weird and unpredictable, gaps will open up in our preexisting patterns. When patterns degrade to the point of unpredictability, anything becomes possible.
We are at an adapt-or-die point as a species, and we’ll need to break free of the bullshit to make the jump. Hell, we just might make it.

The New York Times en de Washington Post (WaPo) brachten volgens Caitlin Johnstone (op een geweldige en uiterst sarcastische manier) het schokkende nieuws dat Moskou bezig is om Trump de zege te bezorgen in de race voor het presidentschap……. Verder zou Moskou ervoor zorgen dat Bernie Sanders de winnaar zal zijn van de Democratische voorverkiezingen……. Het artikel dat Johnstone zou publiceren, ‘werd vervangen door een rapport van de National News Conglomerate (NNC)’, waarin e.e.a. ‘wordt uitgelegd’.
Alleen Pete Buttigieg zou gevrijwaard zijn van Russische ‘spinage-banden’. Een anonieme CIA woordvoerder durft zelfs te beweren dat Buttigieg de enige kandidaat is die niet de belangen van de VS in handen van Putin zal geven……. De CIA, je weet wel, de terreurorganisatie die naast het faciliteren van moorden door geheime eenheden in het buitenland, de hand niet omdraait om middels hele bergen gefabriceerde ‘bewijzen’ (leugens en achterklap) de VS klaar te maken voor een zoveelste illegale oorlog tegen een land dat niet buigt als de VS met de vingers klikt…….
Het meest zieke is wel dat de CIA bron de polarisatie in de VS wijt aan die kandidaten en daar deze bron deze kandidaten al had aangewezen als agenten van Moskou, wordt Moskou, of beter gezegd Putin aangewezen als de persoon die de polarisatie in de VS heeft veroorzaakt….. Niet alleen dat, de bedoelde kandidaten zouden het bestaande gezag willen vernietigen en een andere buitenlandpolitiek voorstaan…… Daarom zegt de CIA bron dat de VS niet hoeft te kiezen tussen revolutie of de bestaande status quo, het VS volk moet samenkomen en oplossingen zoeken voor zowel de arbeiders als voor de miljonairs….. ha! ha! ha! ha! Het probleem in de VS is juist dat men alles doet voor de miljonairs en niets voor de arbeiders, sterker nog er zijn nu al meer dan 15 jaar mensen in de VS die niet rond kunnen komen van 1 baan (of zelfs 2 baantjes) en daarom nog een baan zoeken of deze al vervullen……
De VS geeft kapitalen uit aan oorlogsvoering, maar bezuinigt op sociale programma’s, de Trump administratie wil zelfs de voedselbonnen voor de allerarmsten afschaffen…….
Waarom zou Rusland Trump nogmaals op ‘de troon’ willen zetten als je ziet, dat Trump sancties heeft ingesteld tegen Rusland (waardoor bedrijven die handel drijven met Rusland onderwerp van strafrechtelijk onderzoek worden in de VS en niet meer mogen leveren aan bedrijven in de VS…)…. Verder heeft Trump bedrijven gedreigd die meewerken aan Nord Stream 2 (NS2), de gaspijpleiding die vanuit Rusland, via de Oostzee naar Duitsland loopt….. Of wat dacht je van het raketschild dat Trump in Polen en Roemenië heeft gebouwd, dit bijna op de drempel van de Russische grens, een schild dat zogenaamd is bedoeld tegen Iraanse raketten, maar waarvan de raketten in een mum van tijd kunnen worden omgebouwd tot raketten met meerdere kernkoppen en daarmee aanvalsraketten zijn geworden……
Waarmee juist de raketten van het hiervoor aangehaalde schild onder het INF-verdrag vallen, gezien de relatief korte afstand die ze moeten afleggen om bijvoorbeeld de grote Russische steden Sint-Petersburg (het voormalige Leningrad) en Moskou te treffen…… Terwijl de VS Rusland beschuldigt van het schenden van dit INF-verdrag met een nieuw type raket, waarop Rusland de VS meermaals heeft uitgenodigd deze raketten te komen inspecteren, zodat men kan zien dat Rusland het verdrag niet schendt, echter de VS weigerde op deze uitnodigingen in te gaan……..
Het hele Russiagate verhaal blijkt een belachelijke beschuldiging te zijn geweest, waar de reguliere westerse media en politici blijven volhouden dat Rusland de presidentsverkiezingen van 2016 heeft gemanipuleerd……. In werkelijkheid wordt e.e.a. juist gedaan door diezelfde media, die bijvoorbeeld een kandidaat als Sanders afschilderen als een onverantwoorde socialist (dat laatste is in de VS een scheldwoord van formaat)….. Daarnaast is er de overduidelijke inmenging van grote bedrijven en plutocraten die invloed kopen en sturen met enorme giften aan de kandidaat van hun keuze…… Ook kan je wat betreft de presidentsverkiezingen Israël nog aanwijzen als groot manipulator van die verkiezingen, immers Netanyahu heeft in 2016 via de senaat ook het volk van de VS aangesproken en hen geadviseerd om op Trump te stemmen…… Een zaak die niet eens wrevel wekte bij die westerse media……

Intelligence Sources: All Candidates Are Russian Agents But Pete Buttigieg

Following shocking reports from The New York Times and The Washington Post that Moscow is simultaneously working to both re-elect Donald Trump and ensure the nomination of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primary race, NNC has obtained further information confirming that nearly all candidates currently running for president are in fact covert agents of the Russian government.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the lone candidate not literally conducting espionage on behalf of the Russian government is Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

“Intelligence has revealed that Mr. Buttigieg is at this time the only candidate who we can count on not to place our nation’s interests square in the hands of Vladimir Putin,” an anonymous source in the Central Intelligence Agency told NNC on Saturday.

“In fact Mr. Buttigieg is the only candidate running with the skill, the experience and the multilingual relatability needed to bridge our nation’s deep divisions and bring Americans together in this time of uncontrolled hostility,” the CIA source continued.

“Because in truth, the unity of our togetherness is in the freedom of our democracy,” added the source. “The long and winding road to the American flag was built upon the steps of our founding fathers. You don’t have to be a big shot Washington insider to see that the problems our nation faces are tearing us apart at our own peril with radical divisive rhetoric saying you need to burn down the establishment and voice a concrete foreign policy position. And that’s why I for one believe we don’t have to choose between revolution and the status quo: we can come together and find solutions that help the working class and billionaires.”

Experts say these new revelations on Russian election interference should consume one hundred percent of all news coverage for the entirety of 2020, and that Democrats should definitely spend all their time from now until November focusing solely on President Trump’s suspicious ties to the Russian government.

“I can’t think of a single thing that could possibly go wrong if Democrats focused exclusively on the possibility that the president conspired with Vladimir Putin in the lead-up to the election in November,” said Les Overton of the influential think tank Americans for an American America*. “If Democrats want to prevent another four years of Trump they should hit him where they know it hurts: nonstop 24/7 Russia conspiracy theories. That’s what Americans really care about.”

Asked if it’s possible that undue emphasis on Russian collusion could prove a fruitless endeavor given Trump’s soaring approval rating after impeachment resulted in his acquittal and the Mueller report failed to indict a single American for conspiring with the Russian government, Overton disagreed and said this time will be “like, totally different.”

“Democrats should definitely invest all of their mental and emotional energy in this Trump-Russia scandal, because this time it’s a sure thing,” Overton said. “Put all your eggs in this basket and get your hopes up very, very high. The big BOOM is coming any minute now, I promise.”

Overton then departed with an envelope full of cash which he said was his life savings, reportedly to invest in lottery tickets.

De regelmatige lezer van dit blog weet dat ik uit en te na over de zogenaamde gifgasaanval van het Syrische leger op Douma heb geschreven. Vandaar ook dat ik aanvankelijk het hieronder opgenomen artikel van Caitlin Johnstone (door mij overgenomen van Anti-Media) heb laten liggen, totdat ik besloot het toch nog eens geheel door te lezen en ik moet zeggen dat er ook voor mij nog een paar zaken niet bekend waren en dat ik een paar van die zaken niet met elkaar had verbonden.

The 12 Strongest Arguments That Douma Was a False Flag

(CJ Opinion) — There have been many US military interventions that were based on lies. This is not a conspiracy theory. It is not some kooky blogger’s opinion. It is an extensively documented and indisputable fact.

Nothing has ever been done to address this extensively documented and indisputable fact. No laws were ever changed. No war crimes tribunals were ever held. No policies or procedures were ever revised. No one was ever even fired. No changes were implemented to prevent the Iraq deception from happening again, and, when it happened again, no changes were implemented to prevent the Libya deception from happening again.
When you make a mistake, you take measures afterward to ensure that you never make the same mistake again. When you do something on purpose, and you intend on doing it again, you do not take any such measures.

There is a large and growing body of evidence that we have been lied to about Syria to an extent and to a level of sophistication that may be historically unprecedented. One particular aspect of the US-centralized empire’s military involvement in that nation, the 2018 airstrikes by the US/UK/France alliance and the alleged chemical weapons incident which preceded it, has been subject to intense scrutiny ever since it took place. And with good reason: there are many pieces of evidence indicating that the Douma incident was staged to falsely implicate the Syrian government.

I don’t claim to know exactly who would have been involved in such a staging and to what extent. It is technically possible, as the UK’s Admiral Lord West speculated at the time, that it was perpetrated independently by the vicious al-Qaeda-linked Jaysh al-Islam forces who’d been occupying Douma, a last-ditch attempt to provoke a western military response that might save them from the brink of defeat at the hands of the surging Syrian Arab Army.
Jaysh al-Islam has an established record of deliberately massacring civilians, and of using civilians as military leverage by locking them in cages on rooftops in strategic Douma locations to prevent airstrikes. The narrative management operation known as the White Helmets would also have been involved to some extent, and it’s very possible that Saudi Arabia, who backs Jaysh al-Islam, was involved as well.

Any number of other allied intelligence agencies could have also been involved to some degree (perhaps with the more expanded goal of ensuring continued US military commitment in Syria during an administration that is vocally opposed to it), and it’s unknown if anyone involved would have had direct contact with any part of any US government agency regarding any of this. All we know for sure is that there’s a growing mountain of evidence that the Syrian government was not involved, and that this raises extremely important questions about (A) who really killed those civilians in Douma and (B) how seriously any future demands for military action should be taken from the US power alliance.

That mountain of evidence includes the following 12 items. Taken individually they are reason enough to be skeptical of the narratives that are being promoted by a government with a known history of using lies, propaganda and false flags to advance preexisting military agendas. Taken together, and looked at with intellectual honesty, they are enough to obliterate anyone’s trust in what we’ve been told about Douma.

1. A leaked OPCW Engineering Assessment concluded that the gas cylinders on the scene were manually placed there.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is a purportedly neutral and international watchdog group dedicated to eliminating the use of chemical weapons around the world. In May of this year, a leaked internal OPCW document labeled “Engineering Assessment of Two Cylinders Observed at the Douma Incident” was published by the Working Group (WG) on Syria, Propaganda and Media. The Engineering Assessment was signed by a South African ballistics expert named Ian Henderson, whose name is seen listed in expert leadership positions on OPCW documents from as far back as 1998 and as recently as 2018, and its authenticity was quickly confirmed by the OPCW in a statement sent to multiple journalists that it was “conducting an internal investigation about the unauthorised release of the document in question.”

Henderson ran some experiments and found no scientifically grounded theory for how the cylinders could possibly have been dropped vertically from the air while being found in the condition and locations that they were found in, concluding instead that they were manually placed on the scene. This is a huge difference, since the Assad coalition was the only side with aircraft and Jaysh al-Islam were the only forces on the ground.

“The dimensions, characteristics and appearance of the cylinders, and the surrounding scene of the incidents, were inconsistent with what would have been expected in the case of either cylinder being delivered from an aircraft,” Henderson wrote. “In each case the alternative hypothesis produced the only plausible explanation for observations at the scene.”

“In summary, observations at the scene of the two locations, together with subsequent analysis, suggest that there is a higher probability that both cylinders were manually placed at those two locations rather than being delivered from aircraft,” Henderson concludes.

This is unsurprising, since the hypothetical physics of the empire’s airdrop narrative make no sense to anyone with any understanding of how material objects move. The existence of Henderson’s report was kept secret from the public by the OPCW, which might make more sense after we get through #2 on this list.

Ongelofelijk maar waar: na dat het schandaal bekend werd dat de OPCW de rapportage over de ‘gifgasaanval van het Syrische bewind op Douma’ dusdanig heeft aangepast dat inderdaad het Syrische leger als schuldig werd aangewezen voor de gifgasaanval op Douma*, wordt er door de reguliere westerse media gesteld dat Rusland en de Syrische regering achter de lekken zit, waarmee ze proberen te ontkennen dat er een gifgasaanval plaatsvond…….. Ofwel de westerse massamedia houden gewoon vol dat ‘nog steeds vaststaat dat Syrië verantwoordelijk is voor de gifgasaanval op Douma’, terwijl al lang bekend is dat dit een smerige leugen is, een feit dat middels het lek binnen de OPCW op straat kwam te liggen, inclusief de documenten en mails die e.e.a. bewijzen……. Let wel: het gaat hier om dezelfde massamedia die de vuilbek vol hebben over ‘fake news’ (nepnieuws), andere desinformatie en manipulaties op de sociale media…….
De gevonden hoeveelheden chlorine kan je overal vinden waar chloor als schoonmaakmiddel wordt gebruikt, of waar chloor wordt gefabriceerd, dan wel in zwembaden (of in de directe nabijheid van zwembaden of chloorfabrieken…….)
Ach, het is de zoveelste gifgasaanval die in de schoenen van Assad werd geschoven, terwijl achteraf bij echte gifgasaanvallen keer op keer bleek dat terreurgroepen gifgas hebben ingezet als wapen….. (zelfs Obama heeft dat een keer toegegeven) Men zat en zit er in de westerse politiek en media zelfs niet mee dat terreurgroepen als Al Qaida (in Syrië: al-Nusra) en anderen de beschikking hadden (en sommige nog hebben) over chlorine en zelfs sarin……..

AFP, which just as an aside is one of only three gigantic news agencies that are responsible for most of the stories you see in the mass media, has put out an article that has been picked up by multiple mainstream media outlets titled “Showdown looms over Syria chemical weapons probe”.

The article deliberately frames the issue as one which has been “highlighted” by “Moscow”, and publishes a claim sourced to unnamed western officials that “the Russians and Syrians are trying to muddy the waters”.
“Moscow has consistently raised doubts over chemical attacks in Syria or insisted they were staged, and has recently highlighted a leaked report raising questions about a deadly chlorine attack in the Syrian town of Douma in April 2018,” AFP reports. “Western diplomats however say the Russians and Syrians are trying to muddy the waters about alleged attacks by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces.”
Never mind that the leaks themselves are intrinsically important and completely authentic, regardless of who’s “highlighting” them. Never mind that the leaks have been “highlighted” by many non-Russian outlets, ranging from small alternative platforms like my own here in Melbourne all the way up to as mainstream as the UK’s Daily Mail. All it takes is one Russian to talk about any issue of any kind and it can magically be spun as a talking point of Moscow, no matter how many westerners who have nothing to do with Russia are also talking about it.
The report’s author, Danny Kemp, has been spending time narrative managing about the OPCW scandal on Twitter as well. Kemp argues that WikiLeaks, who published a leaked internal email from the organisation on Sunday which challenges the establishment Douma narrative, doesn’t have trustworthy publications because WikiLeaks is associated with (you guessed it) Russia.

Kemp’s baseless Russia smear is invalidated by the fact that multiple other outlets have also published the email, including the Daily Mail, and by the fact that Reuters has independently verified the email’s authenticity with a source in the OPCW.
The OPCW’s Director General Fernando Arias said during a convention at The Hague today that he fully supports the conclusions that were published in the OPCW’s final report on the Douma incident this past March, which asserted, contrary to everything the OPCW whistleblowers claim, that there was enough evidence to believe that a chemical weapon was used.
“On the first of March, 2019, the Fact Finding Mission issued its final report on the incident of alleged use of toxic chemical weapons in Douma on the seventh of April, 2018,” Arias said. “The evaluation and analysis of all the information gathered by the Fact Finding Mission provide reasonable grounds that the use of a toxic chemical as a weapon had taken place.”
“It is in the nature of any thorough inquiry for individuals in a team to express subjective views,” Arias added. “The overall conclusions of the inquiry, however, must be based on the preponderance of objective facts.”
“While some of these diverging views continue to circulate in certain public discussion forums, I would like to reiterate that I stand by the independent, professional conclusions reached by the Fact Finding Mission,” Arias said.

Again, everything Arias said is contradicted by what the whistleblowers from inside the aforementioned Fact Finding Mission have been saying:
  • The leaked email says chlorinated organic chemicals on the scene were as low as one or two parts per billion, meaning they were trace background levels you’d find in any industrialized area, and that the symptoms of the victims were inconsistent with chlorine gas poisoning.
  • The leaked Engineering Assessment signed by ballistics expert Ian Henderson states that the alleged chlorine cylinders were much more likely to have been manually placed on the ground than dropped from the air, meaning the incident would have been staged by the Jaysh al-Islam fighters occupying Douma and not the Syrian air force.
  • The information given to journalist Jonathan Steele by the whistleblower “Alex” lists even more inconsistencies with the OPCW report, claims that dissent from the final drafts of the OPCW’s Douma reports was a majority opinion within the team, and says investigators felt pressured both by OPCW management and an uncomfortable intercession by US government officials to come to a specific conclusion.
Given all this, there is no reason for anyone to feel at all confident that “the use of a toxic chemical as a weapon had taken place” in Douma.
In the hours since Arias finally gave them a denial of the OPCW scandal that they can use in their reporting, the mass media have suddenly broken their deafening silence on this important story.

Reports have come out on Arias’ defense of the official Douma reports from Reuters, AP and CBS explaining to readers that the OPCW’s head honcho says all the naughty people sharing unauthorized narratives about Douma are wrong. In a story about Syria and The Hague, the CBS article mentions the words “Russia” or “Russian” no fewer than twelve times, spinning the entire affair as nothing more than a Moscow-orchestrated conspiracy theory.

Here’s an excerpt from the CBS article, just to give you a taste of the conspiratorial-lunatic spin job they’re doing on something that amounts simply to authentic leaked information:

Russia and Syria have alleged that the incident was staged since soon after it took place. Russia even attempted to bolster its case by bringing individuals who it identified as Syrians seen in “staged” videos after the attack to testify to the OPCW at The Hague.

European OPCW members rejected the Russian-Syrian claims outright, and refused to attend the session at OPCW headquarters.

“This obscene masquerade does not come as a surprise from the Syrian government, which has massacred and gassed its own people for the last seven years,” France’s ambassador to the Netherlands, Philippe Lalliot, said in response.

I guess it’s nice to have some company on this important story after months and months of near-total silence, but man the spin’s making me dizzy.
Of course it’s not the mass media’s job to objectively report facts, it’s the mass media’s job to manufacture consent for the status quo upon which the media-owning plutocratic class is built. This status quo naturally includes the globe-spanning US-centralized empire and the endless war which glues the whole thing together. The narrative that this oligarchic power alliance has once again deceived the world about yet another military intervention in yet another Middle Eastern nation would do serious damage to people’s trust in the imperial propaganda machine, so the story will be ignored for as long as possible and then attacked with extreme aggression when that fails.

James Le Mesurier, ex-legerofficier en oprichter van de White Helmets is overleden, deze figuur kampte al langer met psychische klachten en zou daar ook voor zijn opgenomen. Le Mesurier zou zich in Istanbul het leven hebben benomen door over het balkonhek te stappen……
De suïcide van Le Mesurier wordt betwijfeld door degenen die Assad weg willen hebben en daar een trouwe VS vazal willen parachuteren, zij maken er liever moord van, ofwel gepleegd door de Russen dan wel door de Syrische geheime dienst…..* Mark Urban verslaggever van de BBC, stelde dat hij uit anonieme bron had vernomen dat het onmogelijk was om van het balkon van Le Mesurier naar beneden te stappen, een uitspraak die hij later terugnam (maar wel gezegd en voor velen blijft dit de ‘waarheid’) Voorts wordt zijn dood door de anti-Assad coalitie gebruikt om een paar flinke scheppen extra anti-Assad propaganda te brengen, waarvan het ontkennen van de suïcide die Le Mesurier uitvoerde natuurlijk het begin was……
De voormalige Britse ambassadeur voor Oezbekistan en latere politieke activist Craig Murray heeft zich laten horen in de nasleep van Le Mesuriers dood, volgens hem maakt Philip Cross overuren na de dood van Le Mesurier, met de ene aanpassing na de andere van diens pagina op Wikipedia. Cross heeft er zijn levenstaak van gemaakt om de Wikipedia pagina’s aan te passen aan de huidige westerse status quo (o.a. anti-Assad) en propaganda te maken voor de terreurgroepen in Syrië, ‘zeg maar’ zoals het Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) dat doet.

Het SOHR wordt geleid door een gewezen misdadiger die vanuit GB bericht over de oorlog in Syrië en die aanwijsbaar ‘nieuws’ brengt dat uit de koker van Al Qaida (al-Nusra) en andere terreurgroepen komt…. Zoals bij het SOHR, nemen een aantal vips en de reguliere (massa-) media in GB de berichten van Cross serieus en zien hem als een betrouwbare bron…..
Lees het uitstekende artikel van Caitlin Johnstone, zie de links in haar artikel en zie de video van een half uur over een vermeende gifgasaanval van het Syrische bewind. Zegt het voort beste bezoeker, zoals Johnstone terecht opmerkt, het is de hoogste tijd dat de hele leugenberg over Syrië wordt doorgeprikt en dat het westen zich terugtrekt uit het hele Midden-Oosten….. ‘Wij’ (het terreur brengende westen) hebben daar met illegale oorlogsvoering IS (ISIS) gecreëerd (met actieve hulp van de VS), daarmee hebben de VS en andere NAVO-lidstaten (waaronder Nederland) ook terreur op de Europese straten georganiseerd en hebben we miljoenen mensen op de vlucht doen slaan……. Om over het enorme aantal doden daar nog maar te ‘zwijgen’: meer dan 2,5 miljoen doden sinds 2001, in feite vermoord door de VS en andere NAVO-partners, nogmaals: ook door Nederland en dat met behulp van ons belastinggeld, waarvan men later ook nog eens terreurgroepen in Syrië van wapens, munitie en rollend oorlogstuig voorzag…..

Eerst volgt het artikel van Johnstone en daarna een propaganda artikel uit het Parool, daaronder meer over de White Helmets, niets meer en minder dan een terreurgroep…….

Narrative Managers In Overdrive After Death Of White Helmets Founder

James Le Mesurier, the founder of the White Helmets, has died. He was found to have plummeted from a height to the street outside his home, and authorities are reportedly calling it a suicide.
Le Mesurier has a history with British military intelligence and was fundamentally involved with an extremely shady narrative management operation geared toward manufacturing support for yet another imperialist military intervention in yet another Middle Eastern nation, so obviously any claims of suicide should be taken with a grain of salt no smaller than a Buick. But it is worth noting that according to Middle East Eye, Le Mesurier’s wife told police that he’d been struggling with psychological issues for which he was taking medications and had previously been hospitalized. Le Mesurier’s home was reportedly only accessible by fingerprint and no video footage of anyone besides Le Mesurier and his wife entering or leaving has been found.
Establishment narrative managers, for their part, have been floating the possibility that the White Helmets founder was murdered by the Russian government. The Washington Examiner has published an article titled “Did Russia kill White Helmets founder James Le Mesurier?”, calling to mind Betteridge’s law of headlines which states that “Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.” The BBC’s Mark Urban tweeted out and then deleted a thread (screenshots here) in which he cites an anonymous source who claims to have known Le Mesurier’s flat well enough to be sure that it’s not possible to “fall” from his balcony, then meaningfully pointing to a “black propaganda campaign by Russia and Assad media” against Le Mesurier. He apparently didn’t consider the possibility of suicide until later, saying he deleted his thread due to “new information”.
For more info on Le Mesurier and his White Helmet mates, I highly recommend watching this excellent half-hour video by James Corbett. It’s full of primary-source video footage indisputably confirming the organization’s ties to western governments and to violent extremist factions in Syria, and explaining how an allegedly “neutral” organization on the ground has been used to control the narrative about what’s been happening in Syria.

Pundits who’ve built their name on Syria narrative management have been expressing grief over Le Mesurier’s death, including Eliot Higgins, Charles Lister, Julian Röpke and Oz Katerji. Katerji, an especially aggressive imperialism proponent, was particularly stricken, acknowledging that this pervasively corrupt operative was actually a dear friend of his.
“It is with a deeply heavy heart that I do this, but I can confirm my friend James Le Mesurier, founder of Mayday Rescue of White Helmets fame, died at his home in Istanbul last night,” Katerji tweeted. “I am profoundly saddened by this, Jakes was a brave and decent man who saved countless lives. I will miss him. I am at a loss for words.”
Janine di Giovanni, who in 2016 authored a fawning puff piece on Le Mesurier and the White Helmets for Newsweek, tweeted, “Terrible news. James was funny, smart, brave,committed. He stood up to bullies. On the right side of history. Believed in the White Helmets, their mission, their drive for good. A loss to humanity.”
Journalist Jonathan Cook criticized di Giovanni’s gushing hagiography, tweeting, “This is what access journalism looks like: prize-winning war correspondents like Janine di Giovanni hanging out with ‘funny’ spooks like James Le Mesurier who’ve been responsible for stoking the very wars they report on – wars that have destroyed whole societies.”

Former UK ambassador Craig Murray has flagged the fact that Wikipedia’s imperialist narrative manager “Philip Cross” has made dozens of edits to Le Mesurier’s Wiki page since his death. Cross, who I’ve reported on previously, has made a more-than-full-time job of constantly managing the Wikipedia pages of both pro-establishment and anti-establishment media figures in a very pro-establishment slant; an article by Five Filters which you can read by clicking here documents how the “Philip Cross” account has been working morning to night with precisely zero days off toward this endeavor.
An article published by Murray last year documents the curious fact that although the serial Wikipedia editor had only about 200 followers on Twitter, he was followed by many high-profile narrative managers from huge British news media outlets like The Guardian, The Times and the BBC, as well as none other than James Le Mesurier himself.
Murray wrote at the time:

“Why then does James LeMesurier, founder of the ‘White Helmets’, follow Philip Cross on twitter? Why does ex-minister Tristram Hunt follow Philip Cross on Twitter? Why does Sarah Brown, wife of Gordon, follow Philip Cross on twitter? Why then do so the following corporate and state journalists follow ‘Philip Cross’ on twitter?”

To these questions I would add, why was Le Mesurier seen defending “Philip Cross” from someone voicing suspicion of him on Twitter after George Galloway offered a reward for information about the account? These questions have never been satisfactorily answered. And now this same account is frantically editing the Wikipedia page of his late fan James Le Mesurier. Some excerpts from the editing notes Cross has made to the page (note: according to Wikipedia, “RS” is short for Reliable Source):
  • not WH alone: “Unfounded conspiracy theories latched onto the White Helmets’ foreign funding and ties to Mr. Le Mesurier” and (earlier in the article) “who has been the target of repeated online disinformation campaigns”
  • Alternet is not considered RS, the article is by Max Blumenthal
  • this is the Assadist line which has no usable sources & should not be given undue credibility
  • rumour/conspiracy theory spread by non-RS
The article also has an editorial discussion section about whether or not it’s appropriate to have a “criticisms” section on the page, and how much any criticisms should be limited.
Cross is of course intimately involved in this discussion as well.

There is an immense narrative management campaign dedicated to controlling what people think about what’s happening in Syria, aimed not solely at advancing the longstanding regime change agenda of the US-centralized empire but at protecting the credibility of the warmongering government and media institutions who the public is growing increasingly skeptical of in a post-Iraq invasion information age. If people become doubtful in the propaganda machine which greases the gears of war, then warmongering itself will become impossible to carry out without waking the masses up from the narrative control matrix they’ve worked so hard to lull us into. Without endless war, the empire will crumble.
Whoever controls the narrative controls the world. Narrative control comes before any other priority the empire might have; before resources, before land, before even war itself. Our rulers and their goons will protect their ability to control the story of what’s happening tooth and claw. It’s up to us to see through their lies and bring an end to the lie factory.

De suggestie van een zelfmoord wordt in twijfel getrokken. Zo zegt een collega tegen de BBC dat het balkon ‘zich niet leende’ voor een val. Op sociale media spreken meerdere activisten van betrokkenheid van de Russische geheime dienst.

Nobelprijs voor de Vrede

Zo faciliteerde de oorlogsveteraan trainingen voor de door hem opgerichte Syrian Civil Defense – ook bekend als de Witte Helmen. Die burgerbeweging, twee jaar geleden genomineerd voor de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede, duikt tijdens de burgeroorlog in Syrië op op plekken waar even daarvoor een bombardement is geweest, om zo veel mogelijk burgerslachtoffers te redden of te bergen.

Vrienden vertellen de Britse krant The Guardian hoe Le Mesurier met stress en persoonlijke aanvallen op zijn reputatie kampte. De Syrische president Assad en diens bondgenoten beschuldigen de Witte Helmen ervan in opdracht van buitenlandse mogendheden te werken.

Vrijdag nog verzond het Russische ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken een negatieve tweet: ‘Voormalig MI6-agent James Le Mesurier duikt over de hele wereld op. Zijn banden met terroristengroepen zijn algemeen bekend.

Opvallend deze berichtgeving van van Unen. Werkelijk geen zin waarin geen onwaarheden staan, neem de eerste onder de kop, waarin van Unen het nodig vindt om te zeggen dat Le Mesurier werd bekritiseerd door de Syrische president Assad (overigens democratisch gekozen) en diens bondgenoten (lees Rusland en Iran, beiden pispaal van de Nederlandse reguliere pers). Waarom dat in die zin is verwerkt is mij een raadsel, alsof van Unen alvast de daders wil aanwijzen, bovendien is het niet vreemd dat Le Mesurier commentaar uit die hoek kreeg, immers het Syrische leger, de Russen en Iraniërs die meevochten tegen terreurgroepen in Syrië zijn meermaals geconfronteerd met de terreur van de White Helmets……

 Vervolgens zegt van Unen dat de White Helmets 2 keer werden genomineerd voor de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede, van Unen zegt vervolgens niet waarom deze niet werd toegekend, immers dan had het Nobelcomité echt alle geloofwaardigheid verloren, nadat dit comité meerdere oorlogsmisdadigers de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede heeft toegekend….. Het Nobelcomité is uit en te na gewaarschuwd de White Helmets de prijs niet toe te kennen daar deze organisatie nauwe banden onderhield en onderhoudt met terreurgroepen als Al Qaida (al-Nusra), plus andere terreurgroepen in Syrië…… Bovendien zijn deze white Helmets betrapt bij het helpen uitoefenen van terreur en het maken van ‘nepvideo’s’ die o.a. moesten aantonen dat ‘Assad zijn volk vergast zou hebben’. Van Unen spreekt over een burgeroorlog in Syrië, terwijl het aantoonbaar een oorlog tegen het Syrische volk en haar regering was en is……

Van Unen zou kunnen weten (als hij zijn werk serieus nam) dat de VS al vanaf 2006 bezig was met de voorbereiding van een grote opstand in Syrië, die moest eindigen met het afzetten van Assad, toen dat niet lukte heeft de VS grote aantallen terroristen het land in geleid (waaronder een groot aantal IS leden), inclusief wapens, munitie en rollend oorlogstuig, waarmee de oorlog in Syrië begon, ofwel de VS is verantwoordelijk voor de oorlog in Syrië en daarvoor zijn meer dan voldoende bewijzen te vinden (en nogmaals dat zou van Unen moeten weten)…….

 Dan komt van Unen met een BBC collega die benaderd zou zijn door iemand die in twijfel zou hebben getrokken dat Le Mesurier zich het leven zou hebben benomen, daar dit balkon zich niet zou lenen voor suïcide….. Het was, zoals boven al gemeld, NB een BBC journalist die e.e.a. opperde en deze persoon heeft zijn woorden teruggenomen, ‘fijn dat van Unen dit niet meldt……’ Dan zegt hij nog dat meerdere activisten op de sociale media spreken over betrokkenheid van de Russische geheime dienst…. Welke activisten van Unen, dezelfde die Nederland steunde met geld en wapens, ofwel zogenaamde ‘gematigde rebellen?’ Uitermate betrouwbaar van Unen, voorts is het tegenwoordig al zo zot dat je het woord Rusland maar hoeft te laten vallen of men duidt dit land aan als het kwaad van de wereld, terwijl de Russen voor een groot deel verantwoordelijk zijn voor het in de pan hakken van IS (ISIS) en andere terreurgroepen……

Jezus wat een fantast die van Unen!! Van Unen noemt gelukkig nog wel het feit dat Le Mesurier kampte met psychische klachten, al noemde hij dat stress, echter niets over het feit dat hij daarvoor al eens werd opgenomen….. (valt me nog mee dat van Unen niet één keer Iran noemde als mogelijke dader…..)

 * Johnstone zegt niets over de Syrische geheime dienst, echter die suggestie heb ik al een paar keer voorbij horen komen op meerdere radiostations, waaronder de totaal afhankelijke BBC….

Protesten Hongkong krijgen veel media aandacht, terwijl protesten in landen die westers gezind zijn vaak worden genegeerd…..

Caitlin Johnstone schreef een artikel over het verschil in media aandacht voor de protesten in Hongkong en protesten in niet westerse landen die braaf doen wat het westen (lees; de VS) nodig acht, voor de eerste is er enorm veel aandacht en voor de tweede is amper of totaal geen aandacht…….
Niet verrassend is het feit dat het ministerie van BuZa in de VS gebruik maakt van deze gespleten aandacht voor protesten, wat zeg ik: die aandacht in de media wordt mede ingegeven door de overheid van de VS*. Zo liet Brian Hook, een hielenlikker van oorlogsmisdadiger Bolton, in 2017 aan Rex Tillerson (die toen net VS minister van buitenlandse zaken was) weten dat mensenrechtenschendingen in Rusland, China, Iran, Venezuela en Noord-Korea met extra veel aandacht veroordeeld moeten worden, terwijl diezelfde schending van mensenrechten in bijvoorbeeld Saoedi-Arabië, Indonesië, Filipijnen, Honduras en Israël het liefst (zo lang mogelijk) uit de media moeten worden gehouden……… Een en ander bleek uit een gelekt memo…….

Johnstone stelt terecht dat wanneer er een protestbeweging als de Yellow Vests in de VS tekeer zou gaan, deze zo lang mogelijk verzwegen zou worden door de media en dat men bij wel publiceren woorden voor de demonstranten zou gebruiken als fascisten, antisemieten of Russische pionnen (of Russische trollen)…..

Overigens is er maar weinig aandacht voor het uiterst gewelddadige karakter van de demonstraties in Hongkong, tja dat past niet zo in het plaatje dat men het volk wil voorhouden: een gewelddadig China dat op het punt staat ‘vreedzame demonstraties’ de kop in te drukken……
Het voorgaande, de aandacht die de westerse politici en massamedia wel hebben voor demonstraties in Hongkong, Iran of Venezuela, is ook in Nederland de manier van berichten in de reguliere media (Telegraaf, Volkskrant, NRC, Radio1 enz. enz.). Journalisten van die media hier hebben al te vaak laten zien zaken te laten liggen als deze niet in het belang van de Nederlandse regering, de VS of de NAVO zijn, of als ze negatief uitpakken voor de bestaande neoliberale status quo…..

De volkomen ten onrechte over een paardendrol getilde hufter Max van Weezel (als was hij een journalist van formaat), liet een paar jaar geleden op Radio1 geheel parmantig weten bepaalde zaken zeker niet te zullen brengen (als deze bijvoorbeeld onrust in de maatschappij zouden kunnen veroorzaken)…….
Vanmorgen hoorde ik Paul van Gessel, oud-grofgraaier van AT5, op Radio1 zeggen: “Geef ons brood en spelen”, toen men na 10.00 u. zat te zeuren over ‘oude formules’ als ‘Man bijt Hond’ dat weer uitgezonden schijnt te worden…….. Ofwel de zich journalist noemende van Gessel wil ‘brood en spelen’, een uitvinding van waarschijnlijk de Romeinen om onrust onder het volk te sussen en zo protesten te voorkomen….. ‘Brood en spelen’ houden de mensen weg van wat er echt gebeurt in de wereld en juist dat, het vertellen wat er werkelijk gebeurt is nu juist precies wat de reguliere media dag in dag uit zouden moeten brengen……. Maar nee, geef van Gessel en een heel leger andere Nederlandse ‘journalisten’ maar ‘brood en spelen’, dan kunnen ze daar de kranten, websites, radio en tv mee vullen……
De NOS op Radio1, ziet het dan ook als haar taak om in het Radio1 Journaal ‘s morgens zoveel mogelijk sport te proppen, dit nog naast ellenlange reclameblokken en muziek waar niemand op wacht……… (brood en spelen) De gasten die te horen zijn in het Radio1 Journaal hebben maar al te vaak weinig of niets te brengen, waarbij de presentator de onderwerpen zo lang mogelijk probeert uit te melken (onderwerpen als die ‘Van gewest tot gewest’), niet vreemd dus dat een presentator, zoals Jurgen van den Berg regelmatig vragen stelt waarop de gast eerder in het gesprek al een antwoord heeft gegeven (niet zelden zelfs al 2 keer)…….. De eerder prima presentatoren van dit programma, Marcel Oosten en Frederique de Jong, moesten het veld ruimen voor minkukel van den Berg en daarmee werd het Radio1 Journaal een orgaan dat de status quo bewaakt en onrust moet voorkomen……**

Kortom: de westerse reguliere media zijn verworden tot propagandaorganen van het grootkapitaal, de neoliberale status quo en voor de illegale oorlogen die de VS met hulp van haar oorlogshond NAVO voert tegen landen waar de VS en de rest van het westen niets te zoeken hebben…… Overigens stelt Johnstone terecht dat er wel degelijk goede redenen kunnen zijn dat men demonstreert, waar je wel op moet letten of protesten niet zijn georganiseerd door de CIA, zoals deze terreurorganisatie dit bijvoorbeeld ook in Iran en Oekraïne heeft gedaan (en dat protest was dan ook in die landen uiterst gewelddadig)

How To Make Sense Of Foreign Protests, Conflicts And Uprisings

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, our government-funded media outlet, has published an article titled “Australian expat living in Hong Kong throws off business suit to join protest movement“. The entire story is in the headline: some random guy, who ABC keeps anonymous but for the name “Daniel”, has joined the protests in Hong Kong. That’s it. That’s the whole entire bombshell newsworthy news story.

“In Australia we have proper democracy but in Hong Kong, democracy is being slowly eroded away and I’ll try to do whatever I can to try and help the cause,” the anonymous guy told ABC.

This sort of enthusiastic empty non-story cheerleading is typical for western media coverage of the Hong Kong protests so far, while these same media outlets consistently ignore or downplay protests against the government of France, Israel, Honduras, India, Indonesia and any other region that happens to fall within the US-centralized power alliance. It’s an amazingly reliable pattern: the entire western political/media class finds protests and uprisings endlessly fascinating when they are in opposition to governments which haven’t yet been absorbed into the imperial blob like China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Syria, pre-collapse Libya, or then-Moscow-aligned Ukraine, but any protests or uprisings within that empire are ignored at best or demonized at worst.

If dissidents in the United States began donning yellow vests and holding aggressive demonstrations in the current media environment, you could safely bet your bottom dollar that they would be ignored for as long as possible and then smeared as fascists, antisemites and/or Russian pawns thereafter. This would happen with absolute certainty.

This very reliable trend in the western media is very interesting, because it also happens to be the known position of the US State Department.

In 2017 a memo was leaked to Politico in which the sniveling John Bolton lackey Brian Hook explained to DC neophyte Rex Tillerson how to perform his job as Secretary of State with regard to human rights violations. Hook explained that the US government must downplay and ignore the human rights violations of US allies like Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Philippines while aggressively targeting unabsorbed governments like China, Russia, Iran and North Korea for any allegations of human rights violations on their part.

“In the case of US allies such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines, the Administration is fully justified in emphasizing good relations for a variety of important reasons, including counter-terrorism, and in honestly facing up to the difficult tradeoffs with regard to human rights,” Hook explained in the memo.

“One useful guideline for a realistic and successful foreign policy is that allies should be treated differently — and better — than adversaries,” Hook wrote. “Otherwise, we end up with more adversaries, and fewer allies. The classic dilemma of balancing ideals and interests is with regard to America’s allies. In relation to our competitors, there is far less of a dilemma. We do not look to bolster America’s adversaries overseas; we look to pressure, compete with, and outmaneuver them. For this reason, we should consider human rights as an important issue in regard to US relations with China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran.”

This State Department memo is really all you need to understand what’s going on whenever there’s any kind of uprising or conflict in a foreign nation. Hell, it’s almost all you need to understand the dynamics of empire in general. And, combined with the consistent pattern we’ve seen in coverage of protests and uprisings against empire-absorbed governments versus unabsorbed ones, it certainly tells you all you need to know about the state of the western media.
In theory the US Department of State was meant to serve as a counterpart to what was then called the Department of War (later falsely re-titled the “Department of Defense”). In theory the State Department was meant to specialize in peace and diplomacy in the same way the War Department specialized in war. In practice the warmongers just got two war departments.

Understand this one basic concept and you can understand all the hot topic foreign policy issues of any given day: there is an alliance of nations, centralized around US military and economic power, which effectively functions as a single empire. This empire works tirelessly to either absorb unabsorbed governments into its blob, or at least to undermine and marginalize them so they can’t impede the empire’s growth. The goal of the empire is total global domination without causing a nuclear war and without the public noticing that they’re living in an empire. In this sense it’s essentially a silent, slow motion third world war.

I see some of my readers voicing confusion about the protests in Hong Kong, but if you understand the basic dynamic I just described you’ll see that this is really no different from the protests and uprisings we’ve seen in Venezuela, Iran, Syria, Libya and Ukraine: the western political/media class are backing an uprising which benefits the imperial blob and undermines an unabsorbed government. This doesn’t mean that the protesters don’t have grievances or that none of those grievances are legitimate, it just means that you’re being told to cheerlead for an agenda by empire narrative managers solely because your doing so benefits that empire.

So don’t. Refuse to be a pro bono CIA propagandist. This doesn’t mean you need to oppose the protesters in Hong Kong, Venezuela or anywhere else, it just means that the only people who benefit from westerners cheerleading a CIA-approved uprising against an unabsorbed government are your rulers, who work endlessly to manufacture support for pro-empire agendas.

People who don’t get this sometimes tell me that we should “support” the protesters in a given unabsorbed region, but they’re always very reluctant to say what they mean by “support”. Do they mean simply joining the western mass media in uncritically cheerleading for an uprising which benefits western power structures? Do they mean send them money? Weapons? An emotional thumbs-up? Prayers? Getting someone to say what they mean when they say we should “support” the Hong Kong protesters or whomever is like pulling teeth, because it would bring up a lot of cognitive dissonance to actually turn and examine what’s behind the impulse they’re following: narrative management. They’re promoting pro-empire narrative management, and nothing more.

And they’re doing this because the empire narrative managers trained them to.

“Centrist” empire loyalists tend to ignore the protests in places like France while amplifying and cheerleading the protests in places like Hong Kong. Right-wing empire loyalists sometimes do it a little differently, actively conflating the Yellow Vests protests with protests in places like Hong Kong despite the very different forces that are at play in those two situations. But in both cases they’re effectively mirroring the same State Department posture that Brian Hook tried to educate into Rex Tillerson in 2017.

Don’t subject yourself to such indignities. If the political/media class is going to propagandize the masses into supporting the advancement of the agendas of the empire, at least make them do it without your help.
