VS nu definitief op oorlogspad tegen China…..

Israëlische bronnen meldden onlangs dat Israël bezig is met de voorbereiding op een oorlog, die op meerdere fronten gevoerd moet gaan worden…… Hierin staat Israël bepaald niet alleen, ook de VS is daar mee bezig gezien de feiten en agressie in Syrië en tegen Iran, en diezelfde agressie, al is het nog niet met (volledig) militair geweld tegen Rusland, Noord-Korea en… China.

De VS stelt de soevereiniteit en democratie van landen als de Filipijnen, Japan en Taiwan ‘te verdedigen*‘ tegen Chinese ‘agressie’, agressie die bestaat uit het opspuiten van eilandjes in de Zuid-Chinese Zee, een zee die niet aan de VS grenst, maar zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, wel aan China…….
Gezien de grootschalige terreur die de VS verspreidt in bijvoorbeeld het Midden-Oosten (waartoe men voor voor het gemak ook Afghanistan en Libië rekent) en het feit dat de VS rond China en Rusland meer dan 600 militaire bases hebben ingericht, is het bepaald niet vreemd dat China een buffer rond haar land probeert in te richten. (een buffer rond Rusland werd door de uiterst agressieve VS met de NAVO aan de lijn, voor een groot deel afgebroken, dit volkomen tegen de eerder gemaakte afspraken met Gorbatsjov in…….)
Tel daar de VS import heffingen op Chinees staal en aluminium bij op en je kan niets anders zien dan het begin van een handelsoorlog….. Het plaatje is compleet: ook China moet zich onderwerpen aan de VS hegemonie, daar het anders te maken krijgt met het leger van de VS……..**
Het nieuwe budget voor de VS defensie, uh oorlogsvoering is hoger dan ooit tevoren, ondanks dat het Pentagon 11,5 biljoen over de laatste jaren niet kan verantwoorden…… (en niet goedgekeurd door het congres) Gezien dit enorme budget en het voorgaande, kan je niet anders concluderen dan dat het hier om een oorlogsbudget gaat, niet alleen voor de illegale oorlogen die de VS nog voert (Afghanistan, Irak en Syrië), maar vooral t.b.v. komende (illegale) oorlogen, die de ‘neocons***‘ op hun verlanglijst hebben staan…… Deze neocons hebben in feite het Witte Huis overgenomen…..
De grote winnaar van dit alles? Het militair-industrieel complex!!

US Warship Infuriates China After Sailing Within 12 Miles of Disputed Island

(ANTIMEDIA) — A U.S. Navy destroyer carried out a “freedom of navigation” operation on Friday, coming within 12 nautical miles of one of China’s artificial islands, according to an exclusive Reuters report.
Speaking to Reuters on the condition of anonymity, U.S. officials said the destroyer Mustin traveled close to Mischief Reef in the Spratly Islands and carried out maneuvering operations. Washington’s intention was to counter what it sees as China’s attempts to limit the freedom of navigation in the strategically located waters.

The navigation reportedly infuriated Beijing, which still has territorial disputes with its neighbors. As Reuters highlighted, 12 nautical miles is an internationally recognized territorial limit and fits a recent pattern of U.S. navigational behavior. However, it is highly likely that the U.S. purposely brought the ship as close as possible, as it has become increasingly concerned that China’s build-up in the area will eventually drive the U.S. out and make its so-called free nautical movement non-existent.
According to Reuters, the U.S. military believes its activities are carried out under international law and relies on the fact that American forces regularly operate in the region.
“We conduct routine and regular freedom of navigation operations, as we have done in the past and will continue to do in the future,” Lieutenant Commander Nicole Schwegman, a spokesperson for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, said, as quoted by Reuters.
China’s response to this latest move was to send two naval ships of its own to identify the ships and warn the destroyer to leave. In turn, China has vowed to accelerate its plans for the region in order to combat the American presence.
“The provocative behaviour by the U.S. side will only cause the Chinese military to further strengthen building up defense abilities in all areas,” a Chinese Defense Ministry statement read.
Its navy will also carry out combat drills in the South China Sea, calling the development part of regular annual exercises.
This is not the first time this year Washington has sent a warship to the area, rattling China in the process. In January, China vowed to take “necessary measures” to protect its sovereignty after the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Hopper came within 12 nautical miles of Huangyuan Island, which is subject to a rival claim by the Philippines.
This latest operation occurred just one day after Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum that will target $60 billion in Chinese goods with tariffs following a 30-day consultation period that will begin once the list of targeted Chinese goods is published. China already warned against this provocative move, urging the U.S. to step away from what it termed as “the brink.”
The move also follows the revelation that the Trump administration signed the Taiwan Travel Act into law. The bill calls for increased high-level visits to Taiwan by U.S. civilian and military leaders. Just last week, Anti-Media released a report predicting that the situation would quietly start to escalate with little more than a blink from the media, which is busy debating gun control, Facebook’s much-needed scrutiny, and anything else that doesn’t involve a potential nuclear holocaust.
In early February, President Trump said he planned to nominate Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr., the commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, as ambassador to Australia. Not long after, Harris was quick to advise Congress to prepare for a war with China in the South China Sea.
Australia has recently been caught in a war of words of its own with China and had plans to send a British warship into the South China Sea earlier this month, as well.
It might sound simplistic, but Washington’s concern with the area and rationale for risking an all-out confrontation is about one thing: money. China’s use of the South China sea attracts approximately $5 trillion in ship-borne trade every year, according to Reuters.
All that is preventing China from injecting itself into the rest of the global market eastward through the Pacific Ocean is a chain of islands known as the “first island chain,” an island chain that includes the Kuril Islands of Russia, the Japanese archipelago, Taiwan, the northern Philippines, and Borneo. America has blocked China through its control of these islands and with the help of its allies on the ground, but this has recently started to change.
Since August last year, China has had an incursion of its own into the area, flying bombers and intelligence aircraft near these southern outlying islands of Japan. Russia, a stalwart ally of China, is also looking to build a naval base in the area even though control of the islands in question continues to be a point of dispute between Japan and Russia. It seems likely that Russia’s military presence will only aid China’s regional ambitions — as opposed to presenting a buffer to it — as the two nuclear powers often view U.S. hegemony through the same lens. Further complicating this issue, in February of this year, 2,000 Russian troops held military exercises on the Southern Kurils, irking Japan in the process.
Clearly, things are building up for a reason, though one would be hard-pressed to find any mainstream media outlet that pays this story the amount of coverage it deserves.

Mensen ik had het bericht, waarin wordt ‘gesproken’ over de vervanging van figuren rond het beest Trump, ‘nog niet gepubliceerd’* of men maakte bekend dat McMaster, zelf al een enorme ploert van formaat, werd afgezet door het beest, om plaats te maken voor John Bolton, ofwel de duivel zelf….. (zo niet dan toch één van diens trouwste medewerkers…)

Bolton schreef onlangs ‘geheel toevallig een’ opiniestuk’ in de Wall Street Journal dat de VS Noord-Korea moet aanvallen…. uit zelfbehoud!!! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Alsof Noord-Korea ooit ook maar een miljoenste van een seconde een gevaar is geweest voor de VS……. Ja ik lach wel, maar deze opperploert is werkelijk een gevaar voor de hele wereld…….
Alsof je een oorlogsmisdadiger, die je minstens als terrorist moet zien, minister van defensie maakt…. Oh ja, deze benoeming is in feite nog erger…!!
Bolton is één van de hoofdverantwoordelijken voor de illegale oorlog tegen Irak, waar hij de massavernietigingsfabel bleef herhalen als ambassadeur bij de VN……… Al moest je ofwel een topidioot zijn om dit te geloven, dan wel een kwaadaardige collaborateur van de VS, of lobbyist van andere westerse regeringen zijn die achter deze illegale oorlog stonden (zoals de reguliere westerse media….)…. Hoewel een lobbyist van het militair-industrieel complex, of een combi van het e.e.a. heel goed mogelijk is………
Met Pompeo, een andere opperschoft op Buitenlandse Zaken, een groot voorstander van oorlog tegen Iran en Noord-Korea, laat zich raden wat er op het ‘menu staat…..’ (één of het liefst twee illegale oorlogen, misschien zelfs met het gebruik van ‘tactische’ kernwapens, zodat deze getest kunnen worden in de praktijk…….)
Ik hoef je niet te vertellen wat hiervan het gevolg zal zijn….. Och, waarom ook niet: Rusland zal dit zeker niet pikken en waarschijnlijk zal China al evenmin op de handen blijven zitten, ofwel WOIII zal dan een voldongen feit zijn………
Hoe is het mogelijk dat de westerse media zo relatief gelaten reageren op deze laatste benoemingen…..??? Ach ja, die zien niet eens de grootschalige terreur die de VS uitoefent op een explosief deel van de wereld….. Sterker: nog steeds durft men daar niet te stellen dat de VS meehelpt aan een genocide op de sjiitische bevolking van Jemen……

America’s Worst Nightmare

(ANTIMEDIA Op-ed) — John Bolton’s inclusion in the Trump administration as Donald Trump’s new national security advisor is nothing short of a nightmare.
Bolton, a former U.N. ambassador under George W. Bush, will be replacing General H.R. McMaster as Trump’s national security advisor, who replaced former “disgraced” national security advisor Michael Flynn. When the president struck a Syrian airbase in April 2017, it was McMaster who drew up and briefed Trump on the strike proposals, one of which was reportedly very extensive.
McMaster was also reportedly one of the main backers of a secret plan to give North Korea’s Kim Jong-un a “bloody nose strike,” a limited strike to dismantle its nuclear ambitions without risking an all-out war.
However, despite this, it appears McMaster wasn’t hawkish enough for Donald Trump’s needs. While McMaster publicly berates Iran and North Korea on a regular basis, he persistently warned against Trump’s plan to completely derail the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) formed with Iran in 2015. He also later denied the claims that the Trump administration was looking to deliver the “bloody nose strike” on North Korea, perhaps indicating he was not completely on board with the idea after all (or had decided otherwise at that particular juncture in history).
Enter John Bolton. Less than month ago, he wrote an op-ed article published by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) entitled “The Legal Case for Striking North Korea First” — an idea so bad, it seems, that about a week later, the WSJ published a counter viewpoint simply entitled “Striking North Korea First Is a Bad Proposal.”
In Bolton’s short-sighted op-ed — aside from the fact that he offers no real legal analysis at all (those who do consider it a legal analysis must explain why the argument of preemptive self-defense applies to the U.S. but not to North Korea, which faces American aggression near its borders on a routine basis) — it’s also quite telling that he relies on the evidence of CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who alleged in January that Pyongyang was only “a handful of months” away from being able to strike the American mainland with nukes.
It is no coincidence that next in line for Donald Trump’s secretary of state position is Pompeo himself.
Together, Bolton and Pompeo will be able to advise Trump on anti-North Korean and anti-Iranian platforms so hawkish there is no telling what’s to come (though we have a fairly decent idea).
As some of you may know, John Bolton’s hawkishness has already led to some of the most despicable foreign policy agendas of our generation.
“We are confident that Saddam Hussein has hidden weapons of mass destruction and production facilities in Iraq,” Bolton famously said in 2002 while serving as President George W. Bush’s undersecretary of state for Arms Control and International Security. He also called Hussein a “threat to the region” and claimed he needed to be “disarmed.”
“But the end of the story is clear here. And if Saddam Hussein does not co-operate we have made it clear this is the last chance for him…I think the Iraqi people would be unique in history if they didn’t welcome the overthrow of this dictatorial regime,” he added.
Even when this rationale for invading Iraq and destabilizing an entire region turned out to be one of the worst editions of “fake news” ever to sting the planet, in 2015 – some 12 years later – Bolton still claimed the Iraq War was worth it and said that, conversely, the worst decision involving Iraq was the “2011 decision to withdraw U.S. and coalition forces.” In 2016, he then changed his mind to say that the only mistake of the Iraq War was that the U.S. did not get rid of Saddam Hussein sooner.
If John Bolton leads the cheers to invade Iran or North Korea, who will hold him accountable?
Apparently having learned no lessons at all from the criminal invasion of Iraq, Bolton also wrote a New York Times op-ed entitled “To Stop Iran’s Bomb, Bomb Iran” in 2015. He made it quite clear that “only military action” could accomplish what was required to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. In Bolton’s eyes, the JCPOA doesn’t cut it.
He also openly called for the assassination of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, only to later condemn the Obama administration for doing just that (an invasion is bad if a Democrat does it, and vice versa, of course, depending on who you are running against).

John Bolton is also a strong anti-Russian, drone-warfare supporting imperialist who once also appeared to call for the invasion of Cuba.
He is now going to be advising Donald Trump, a seventy-one-year-old mass murdering narcissist with an attention span of two to four minutes, on matters of national security.

Oorlogszuchtige TV dominees……..

Dagelijks worden miljoenen christenen in de VS gehersenspoeld door TV dominees met een uitgesproken mening over de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël en de vaststelling dat Iran moet worden vernietigd…. Deze ‘christenen’ keerden zich zelfs tegen de nucleaire deal met Iran………

Het publiek dat deze misdadige dominees bereiken, vertegenwoordigt een groot deel van de kiezers in de VS….. ‘Misdadigers’ daar dit geteisem voor het overgrote deel multimiljonair is en vooral goed voor zichzelf zorgt…….
Waarom worden dit soort figuren amper of niet aangepakt en krijgen ze zelfs belastingvoordelen? Simpel, daar ze o.a. het keiharde buitenlandbeleid van de VS verdedigen en uitdragen, beter gezegd propaganderen…… Ofwel deze predikers zijn oorlogshitsers, die lullig genoeg vele miljoenen burgers hersenspoelen met hun religieuze gif………….. Bovendien zaaien ze met deze hersenspoeling angst en haat tegen alles wat links of islamitisch is en/of zich tegen Israël keert, waar de TV dominees Israël steunen in alles wat deze moorddadige fascistische apartheidsstaat flikt en uitdraagt………

Over onrechtmatige beïnvloeding van verkiezingen gesproken: vergeleken met de leugens over deze beïnvloeding door de Russen, zelfs als deze waar zouden zijn (wat meer dan eens bewezen niet zo is..), is de invloed van de TV dominees gigantisch veel groter….. Sterker nog: daar kunnen de gevolgen van die leugens, (‘invloed uitoefenen op VS kiezers’ door Rusland) niet eens in de schaduw staan bij de directe beïnvloeding van de verkiezingen, door deze zogenaamde christelijke dominees……. (dominees die zich niet eens houden aan wat hun here jezus hen in de bijbel heeft voorgeschreven………)

Gezien het voorgaande, kan je de TV dominees medeverantwoordelijk houden voor de vele massamoorden door de VS gepleegd!! (sinds het einde van WOII heeft de VS meer dan 22 miljoen mensen vermoord…..)……… Het lullige bij dit alles is, dat de administraties van de opvolgende presidenten in de VS maar al te graag de ‘christelijke’ kaart spelen……..

Hier een artikel dat op de hoop concepten bleef liggen, een artikel van Information Clearing House gepubliceerd op 23 februari jl.

In dit artikel een duidelijke uitleg over wat er nu gaande is in het door de VN als soeverein erkende Syrische bewind en de door haar ingeroepen hulp van Rusland, Iran en andere ondersteunende strijdgroepen.

Een artikel over de enorme anti-Syrische, anti-Russische en anti-Iraanse propaganda gebracht door de reguliere westerse (massa-) media, propaganda die herhaald wordt door het overgrote deel van de westerse politici……

Neem Turkije dat het Syrische bewind van terrorisme beschuldigde, daar dit bewind volkomen terecht probeerde en probeert de Turken, die illegaal Syrië zijn binnengevallen, uit haar land probeert te verdrijven….. Een illegale inval in een ander land is één van de zwaarste vormen van terreur en een oorlogsmisdaad van formaat! Turkije doet dit daar het stelt dat YPG terreurorganisatie is die een direct gevaar vormt voor de Turkse staat, echter deze groepering heeft tot nu toe niet één aanslag in Turkije gepleegd………..

Toch kan Turkije gewoon haar gang gaan, het westen onthoudt zich van commentaar, laat staan dat het ingrijpt door van Turkije te eisen zich terug te trekken uit Syrië en stemt daarmee in met deze grote oorlogsmisdaad, waarbij intussen een groot aantal mensen zijn vermoord door Turkije… Kijk daar hoor je de verontwaardigde westerse reguliere media niet over, terwijl de leugens in die media over Oost-Ghouta niet meer te tellen zijn (ofwel ‘fake news’ over dit stadsdeel)…….

Dit is nog maar één voorbeeld, lees het volgende artikel ajb en geeft het door, een artikel waarin wordt aangegeven dat de agressie van de VS in Syrië van een vooraf opgezet plan is voorzien. (o.l.v. de VS, zijn o.a. Saoedi-Arabië, Turkije en Groot-Brittannie, al vanaf 2006 bezig geweest een opstand uit te lokken tegen het Syrische bewind, dit met de opzet een staatsgreep te bewerkstelligen tegen Assad)

US Aggression in Syria – an Imperialist Blueprint

February 23, 2018 “Information Clearing House” – Syria’s prolonged conflict and misery going into its eighth year is no accident. It is by design. American imperialist design.

First though, we note the increasing reprehensible absurdity in this conflict.

Turkey, which invaded Syria nearly a month ago in violation of Syria’s sovereignty, this week accused Damascus of “terrorism” after the Syrian government sent forces to defend the northern area near Afrin under assault from Turkey.

Meanwhile, US forces, again illegally occupying Syria in violation of international law, claim to be fighting terrorist militia. Yet more often than not, the Americans are affording protection to various terrorist groups.

Then when Syrian state forces advance to clear the terror groups, the US claims it is acting in “self-defense” by massacring whole units of the Syrian army.

Further absurdity is due to France, which has been bombing Syria illegally along with the US and Britain, warning Iranian militia, who are legally present in Syria owing to Damascus’ approval, that they have to withdraw from the country.

As if the situation couldn’t get any more bizarre, Israel has carried out more than 100 air strikes on Syria, claiming that the aggression are “acts of self-defense”.

The Syrian government of President Assad is the sovereign authority of the country, as recognized by UN resolutions. It has the right to defend its nation and to reclaim areas which have been usurped by illegally armed groups. Virtually all of these insurgents are foreign-backed proxies who have been waging a war for regime change according to the designs of their foreign sponsors.

The only armed forces legally present in Syria are those of Russia, Iran and associated militia who have been requested legally by the Syrian government to assist in defending the state from a foreign-backed war.

It is within the sovereign right of the Syrian government to take back all areas, including the suburb of East Ghouta near the capital Damascus. The district has been held under siege by foreign-backed extremists going by the name of Jaysh al Islam who are affiliated with internationally proscribed terror groups Al Nusra Front and Islamic State.

The impetus to liberate East Ghouta has come about because the militants have been firing mortars at nearby Damascus with deadly results.

Not only are Western states violating international law by militarily hampering the Syrian army and its allies in rescuing the country from foreign insurgents, the Western governments and media are mounting a propaganda campaign in an attempt to tie the Syrian state forces’ hands behind their backs by distorting their legal duty as “barbarism”.

Out of the half million people who have died in the past seven years of war in Syria, it is estimated that nearly half of that total were members of the Syrian army.

Added to the Western calumnies over Syria are claims that Syrian state forces have been using chemical weapons on civilian populations. The evidence points in fact to the Western-backed so-called jihadists who have been stealthily using these weapons for false-flag propaganda stunts.

To understand the chaotic conflict in Syria, we must refer to the decades-old imperial designs that the US and its allies have had towards the country. The Americans and the British governments going back to Eisenhower and Churchill in the 1950s wanted to destabilize and subjugate the Arab republic – a former French colony.

In 1996, a new generation of imperialists in Washington led by Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser and other neoconservatives formulated the “Clean Break” strategy. The strategy in conjunction with Israel sought to destabilize and “roll back” Syria because of its alliance with Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.

More widely, the neoconservatives in Washington openly declared their aim of balkanizing the entire region in order to, in their calculation, make Israel more secure. Syria and Iraq were top priorities for US-imposed chaos.

Significantly, the Clean Break strategy designated Turkey as a key partner to the US and Israel for implementing this plan.
The same American neoconservative planners went on to occupy key positions at the Pentagon and State Department during President George W Bush administrations. There is every reason to believe their stratagem of organized chaos – as a way of exerting hegemony over the oil-rich Middle East – continues to be the guiding, albeit tacit, policy of the US government under President Trump.


 Russia, Iran and Hezbollah largely helped Syria bring the war to a close at the end of last year with the widespread routing of foreign-backed insurgents. However, a subsequent peace process brokered by Russia, Iran and Turkey has lost momentum. The violence in Syria appears to re-igniting.

 The increasingly overt military presence of US and Turkish forces, as well as Israeli incursions, is the clearest factor in the resurgence of conflict. More than ever, the US and its allies are operating on a brazen imperial design to dismember Syria and its territorial integrity.

 This is nothing short of criminal aggression by Washington following a deliberate plan for regional domination. This imperialist intrigue should be called out for what is by the United Nations. But rather than upholding the UN Charter, the body’s senior figures are joining in the Western chorus of condemning Syria for defending its national rights.

 The UN is appearing like the ineffectual League of Nations in the 1930s when it pandered to Nazi and fascist aggression. What the US and its allies are doing now in Syria is a repeat – fanning the flames of wider war in the Middle East.

 Laws and sovereignty are being smashed at will and yet the Western media and UN are blind to the aggression. Indeed, they are turning reality on its head, by blaming victim-states for the aggression.

 The straightforward bottom line is that the US, Turkey, Israel and other NATO powers must withdraw from Syria. Respect Syria’s sovereignty and desist from criminal intrigues for regime change. This is a minimum of abiding by international law.

 If these protagonists persist in their criminal schemes, the region is heading for a conflagration sparing no-one.

15 jaar geleden begon de regering van George W. Bush de oorlog tegen Irak. Geheel op leugens gebaseerd was dit de aanzet tot een illegale oorlog die intussen aan meer dan 1,5 miljoen burgers het leven heeft gekost.

Deze oorlog was niet mogelijk geweest, als de reguliere (massa-) media niet de leugens van de Bush administratie hadden overgenomen en dat op de voorpagina’s en prominent in nieuws en actualiteiten uitzendingen, of dat nu op de radio of tv was. De term ‘fake news’ bestond destijds nog niet, maar werd wel degelijk op grote schaal gemaakt door de hiervoor genoemde media. Vergeet niet dat meerdere deskundigen en wapeninspecteurs van de VN, zoals Blix, keer op keer stelden dat Irak niet meer in het bezit was van massavernietigingswapens…….
Het volgende artikel gaat Ron Paul dieper in op alle gevolgen van deze illegale oorlog die de VS 15 jaar geleden begon. Voorts noemt hij het huidige tromgeroffel o.l.v. De VS tegen Noord-Korea, waar senator Graham een paar dagen geleden stelde dat een paar miljoen doden geen probleem zijn, als met een oorlog tegen dit land ‘stabiliteit’ in de regio wordt bereikt………..
Jammer dat Paul niet alle andere oorlogsdreigingen van VS en NAVO zijde noemt, zoals een dreigende oorlog tegen Syrië, Iran en Libanon (deze o.l.v. Israël met steun van de VS), waar nog Oekraïne aan toegevoegd kan worden, daar de VS daar niet alleen meer ‘militaire adviseurs’, maar ook zware wapens levert aan dit intussen zo goed als failliete land. Dit nog buiten alle militaire oefeningen langs de Russische grens, waar de VS in feite oefent op een oorlog tegen Rusland…….

Hetzelfde geldt voor China, waar de VS dit land voor een groot deel heeft omringd met militaire bases en waar de Trump administratie dit land meer en meer met militair geweld bedreigt (zoals over de eilandjes die China claimt in de Zuid-Chinese Zee…)…….

Ron Paul: 15 Years After the US Invaded Iraq, It’s Time to Listen to the Iraqi People

(RPI Op-ed) — This month marks the 15th anniversary of the US war on Iraq. The “shock and awe” attack was launched based on “stove-piped” intelligence fed from the CIA and Pentagon through an uncritical and compliant US mainstream media. The US media was a willing accomplice to this crime of aggression committed by the George W. Bush Administration.
Despite the lies we were constantly bombarded with, Iraq never presented a threat to the United States. Iraq never had the weapons of mass destruction that the neocons used to frighten Americans into supporting the war. How many of them knew all along that there were no WMDs? We’ll never know. Attacking Iraq and overthrowing its leader was long a plan in the neocon playbook and they used the 9/11 attack on the US as an excuse to pull the plan off the shelf and put it into action.
The US “regime change” war on Iraq has directly resulted in the death of at least a quarter of a million civilians, and indirectly perhaps a million Iraqis have been killed. The Iraqi infrastructure was destroyed and the country was set back many decades in development. Far from the democratization we were promised, Iraq has been turned into a hell on earth. Due to the US use of depleted uranium and other chemical weapons like white phosphorus, Iraqis will continue to suffer from birth defects and other related illnesses for generations.
How did we get there? War propaganda was essential in paving the way for the Iraq war. Americans are generally skeptical about launching new wars, so it takes a steady media bombardment about the alleged depravities of any targeted regime before public opinion begins to shift in favor of war.
Because the neocons who helped launch the war have never had to face the consequences of their actions, they continue to promote war with impunity. Just this past week, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was pushing for a US attack on North Korea in which millions may be killed. He said this weekend, “All the damage that would come from a war would be worth it in terms of long-term stability and national security.” That’s just what they said before the US attacked Iraq, and how did that turn out? I find it disgusting that the media continues to give airtime almost exclusively to those who promote more US disasters like Iraq.
The Iraqi parliament did something extraordinary last week. A majority of elected Iraqi representatives voted to demand that their prime minister draw up a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops from the country. President Obama had withdrawn US troops from Iraq in 2011, after a status of forces agreement could not be reached with the Iraqi government, but he returned the US military to Iraq under the auspices of fighting ISIS.
We had no business going into Iraq in the first place and we have no business remaining in Iraq. Al-Qaeda and ISIS emerged in Iraq because our attack and occupation of the country 15 years ago created fertile fields for extremism. Nothing will be achieved if we remain. Let’s listen to the Iraqis and just come home!

Intelligence Veterans Warn of Growing Risk for War With Iran Based on False Pretexts

(CN) — As President Donald Trump prepares to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week, a group of U.S. intelligence veterans offers corrections to a number of false accusations that have been leveled against Iran.
MEMORANDUM FOR: The President
FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS)
SUBJECT: War With Iran
INTRODUCTION
In our December 21st Memorandum to you, we cautioned that the claim that Iran is currently the world’s top sponsor of terrorism is unsupported by hard evidence. Meanwhile, other false accusations against Iran have intensified. Thus, we feel obliged to alert you to the virtually inevitable consequences of war with Iran, just as we warned President George W. Bush six weeks before the U.S. attack on Iraq 15 years ago.
In our first Memorandum in this genre we told then-President Bush that we saw “no compelling reason” to attack Iraq, and warned “the unintended consequences are likely to be catastrophic.” The consequences will be far worse, should the U.S. become drawn into war with Iran. We fear that you are not getting the straight story on this from your intelligence and national security officials.
After choosing “War With Iran” for the subject-line of this Memo, we were reminded that we had used it before, namely, for a Memorandum to President Obama on August 3, 2010 in similar circumstances. You may wish to ask your staff to give you that one to read and ponder. It included a startling quote from then-Chairman of President Bush Jr.’s Intelligence Advisory Board (and former national security adviser to Bush Sr.) Gen. Brent Scowcroft, who told the Financial Times on October 14, 2004 that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had George W. Bush “mesmerized;” that “Sharon just has him wrapped around his little finger.” We wanted to remind you of that history, as you prepare to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week.

Rhetoric vs. Reality
We believe that the recent reporting regarding possible conflict with nuclear-armed North Korea has somewhat obscured consideration of the significantly higher probability that Israel or even Saudi Arabia will take steps that will lead to a war with Iran that will inevitably draw the United States in. Israel is particularly inclined to move aggressively, with potentially serious consequences for the U.S., in the wake of the recent incident involving an alleged Iranian drone and the shooting down of an Israeli aircraft.
There is also considerable anti-Iran rhetoric in U.S. media, which might well facilitate a transition from a cold war-type situation to a hot war involving U.S. forces. We have for some time been observing with some concern the growing hostility towards Iran coming out of Washington and from the governments of Israel and Saudi Arabia. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster is warning that the “time to act is now” to thwart Iran’s aggressive regional ambitions while U.S. United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley sees a “wake-up” call in the recent shooting incident involving Syria and Israel. Particular concern has been expressed by the White House that Iran is exploiting Shi’a minorities in neighboring Sunni dominated states to create unrest and is also expanding its role in neighboring Iraq and Syria.
While we share concerns over the Iranian government’s intentions vis-à-vis its neighbors, we do not believe that the developments in the region, many of which came about through American missteps, have a major impact on vital U.S. national interests. Nor is Iran, which often sees itself as acting defensively against surrounding Sunni states, anything like an existential threat to the United States that would mandate the sustained military action that would inevitably result if Iran is attacked.
Iran’s alleged desire to stitch together a sphere of influence consisting of an arc of allied nations and proxy forces running from its western borders to the Mediterranean Sea has been frequently cited as justification for a more assertive policy against Tehran, but we believe this concern to be greatly exaggerated. Iran, with a population of more than 80 million, is, to be sure, a major regional power but militarily, economically and politically it is highly vulnerable.
Limited Military Capability
Tehran’s Revolutionary Guard is well armed and trained, but much of its “boots on the ground” army consists of militiamen of variable quality. Its Air Force is a “shadow” of what existed under the Shah and is significantly outgunned by its rivals in the Persian Gulf, not to mention Israel. Its navy is only “green water” capable in that it consists largely of smaller vessels responsible for coastal defense supplemented by the swarming of Revolutionary Guard small speedboats.
When Napoleon had conquered much of continental Europe and was contemplating invading Britain it was widely believed that England was helpless before him. British Admiral Earl St Vincent was unperturbed: “I do not say the French can’t come, I only say they can’t come by sea.” We likewise believe that Iran’s apparent threat is in reality decisively limited by its inability to project power across the water or through the air against neighboring states that have marked superiority in both respects.
The concern over a possibly developing “Shi’ite land bridge,” also referred to as an “arc” or “crescent,” is likewise overstated. It ignores the reality that Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon all have strong national identities and religiously mixed populations. They are influenced — some of them strongly — by Iran but they are not puppet states. And there is also an ethnic division that the neighboring states’ populations are very conscious of– they are Arabs and Iran is Persian, which is also true of the Shi’a populations in Saudi Arabia and the Emirates.
Majority Shi’a Iraq, for example, is now very friendly to Iran but it has to deal with considerable Kurdish and Sunni minorities in its governance and in the direction of its foreign policy. It will not do Iran’s bidding on a number of key issues, including Baghdad’s relationship with Washington, and would be unwilling to become a proxy in Tehran’s conflicts with Israel and Saudi Arabia. Iraqi Vice President Osama al-Nujaifi, the highest-ranking Sunni in the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi government, has, for example, recently called for the demobilization of the Shi’ite Popular Mobilization Forces or militias that have been fighting ISIS because they “have their own political aspirations, their own [political] agendas. … They are very dangerous to the future of Iraq.”
Nuclear Weapons Thwarted
A major concern that has undergirded much of the perception of an Iranian threat is the possibility that Tehran will develop a nuclear weapon somewhere down the road. We believe that the current Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, even if imperfect, provides the best response to that Iranian proliferation problem. The U.N. inspections regime is strict and, if the agreement stands, there is every reason to believe that Iran will be unable to take the necessary precursor steps leading to a nuclear weapons program. Iran will be further limited in its options after the agreement expires in nine years. Experts believe that, at that point, Iran its not likely to choose to accumulate the necessary highly enriched uranium stocks to proceed.
The recent incident involving the shoot-down of a drone alleged to be Iranian, followed by the downing of an Israeli fighter by a Syrian air defense missile, resulted in a sharp response from Tel Aviv, though reportedly mitigated by a warning from Russian President Vladimir Putin that anything more provocative might inadvertently involve Russia in the conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have moderated his response but his government is clearly contemplating a more robust intervention to counter what he describes as a developing Iranian presence in Syria.
In addition, Netanyahu may be indicted on corruption charges, and it is conceivable that he might welcome a “small war” to deflect attention from mounting political problems at home.
Getting Snookered Into War
We believe that the mounting Iran hysteria evident in the U.S. media and reflected in Beltway groupthink has largely been generated by Saudi Arabia and Israel, who nurture their own aspirations for regional political and military supremacy. There are no actual American vital interests at stake and it is past time to pause and take a step backwards to consider what those interests actually are in a region that has seen nothing but disaster since 2003. Countering an assumed Iranian threat that is minimal and triggering a war would be catastrophic and would exacerbate instability, likely leading to a breakdown in the current political alignment of the entire Middle East. It would be costly for the United States.
Iran is not militarily formidable, but its ability to fight on the defensive against U.S. naval and air forces is considerable and can cause high casualties. There appears to be a perception in the Defense
Department that Iran could be defeated in a matter of days, but we would warn that such predictions tend to be based on overly optimistic projections, witness the outcomes in Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition, Tehran would be able again to unleash terrorist resources throughout the region, endangering U.S. military and diplomats based there as well as American travelers and businesses. The terrorist threat might easily extend beyond the Middle East into Europe and also the United States, while the dollar costs of a major new conflict and its aftermath could break the bank, literally.
Another major consideration before ratcheting up hostilities should be that a war with Iran might not be containable. As the warning from President Vladimir Putin to Netanyahu made clear, other major powers have interests in what goes on in the Persian Gulf, and there is a real danger that a regional war could have global consequences.
In sum, we see a growing risk that the U.S. will become drawn into hostilities on pretexts fabricated by Israel and Saudi Arabia for their actual common objective (“regime change” in Iran). A confluence of factors and misconceptions about what is at stake and how such a conflict is likely to develop, coming from both inside and outside the Administration have, unfortunately, made such an outcome increasingly likely.
We have seen this picture before, just 15 years ago in Iraq, which should serve as a warning. The prevailing perception of threat that the Mullahs of Iran allegedly pose directly against the security of the U.S. is largely contrived. Even if all the allegations were true, they would not justify an Iraq-style “preventive war” violating national as well as international law. An ill-considered U.S. intervention in Iran is surely not worth the horrific humanitarian, military, economic, and political cost to be paid if Washington allows itself to become part of an armed attack.

Washington uit op oorlog met Iran……

De Trump administratie wil hoe dan ook de ‘Iran nuclear deal’ de nek omdraaien en eist van de andere deelnemers, vooral die in de EU dezelfde houding, zonder dat deze administratie daar over wil discussiëren……….

De VS wil ‘opnieuw onderhandelen’ over deze overeenkomst met Iran, met daarin bepalingen waarvan men weet dat Iran hier niet mee akkoord kan en zal gaan…….
‘Uiteraard’ komt de Trump administratie met het versleten cliché over de Iraanse ongebreidelde agressie….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Een gevalletje de pot verwijt een piepklein keteltje dat het zwart ziet, waarbij opgemerkt moet worden dat de VS kleurenblind is (behalve als het om de repressie tegen de gekleurde bevolking in de VS gaat)……..
Als er een ‘land’ is dat ongebreidelde agressie gebruikt, is het de VS wel! Alleen deze eeuw al 4 illegale oorlogen en de regie over een paar (illegale) oorlogen in Afrika……. Dit nog buiten de door Washington op poten gezette opstanden die tot een coup hebben geleid en als dit niet lukte alsnog uitmonden in een (illegale) oorlog, zoals in Syrië, waar de VS al vanaf 2006 bezig was met het opzetten van een opstand (die tot een coup moest leiden)……
Kortom de Trump administratie is bezig met de voorbereiding op een oorlog tegen Iran (waarvoor de nucleaire leugen tegen Iran overigens maar één van de ‘redenen’ is…..)…. Het is maar zeer de vraag of Rusland en China zich afzijdig zullen houden, mocht de VS een illegale oorlog tegen Iran beginnen….. Als dit niet het geval zal zijn, is een in volle omvang uitbarsten van WOIII bijzonder dichtbij……
Hoe is het mogelijk dat men in het westen in de 60er, 70er en 80er jaren massaal in opstand kwam tegen de terreur van de VS, waar ook toen een nucleaire oorlog meermaals in de lucht hing, waar men nu doodstil is en de VS haar gang laat gaan…??? Terwijl het gevaar op een nucleaire oorlog nu veel groter is dan destijds, immers de VS (en Groot-Brittannië) spreken nu openlijk over het inzetten van nucleaire wapens bij een militair conflict, sterker nog: de Trump administratie dreigt zelfs met nucleaire vergelding als ‘een land’ (Rusland, China en Noord-Korea) mocht beslissen een ‘cyberaanval’ te beginnen tegen de VS……. ‘Cyberaanvallen’ zoals de zogenaamde manipulatie van de VS presidentsverkiezingen, waarvoor tot op heden geen enkel steekhoudend bewijs is geleverd, maar waar wel een enorm aantal bewijzen liggen voor dit soort van handelingen door de VS zelf in andere landen!!
Washington Delivers New Ultimatum On Iran

February 21, 2018 “Information Clearing House” – The US State Department has issued a fresh ultimatum on the Iran nuclear deal to Washington’s ostensible major allies in Europe, demanding that Germany, Britain and France commit themselves to altering the agreement along the lines demanded by President Donald Trump or face its unilateral abrogation by the US.

 A secret State Department cable obtained by Reuters presents what are essentially the same demands made by Trump last January. At that time, he announced that he was prepared to relaunch all-out US economic warfare against Iran unless the European powers joined Washington in imposing a rewritten nuclear accord on Tehran, including provisions that the Iranian government cannot and will not accept.

 The occasion for Trump’s threat was his reluctant announcement on January 12 that he had decided to waive the reimposition of US sanctions that were lifted as part of the nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He vowed that this would be the last time he issued such a waiver, unless his conditions were met. The next deadline for waiving the sanctions is May 12.

 The message from the State Department to the European powers asks for their “commitment that we should work together to seek a supplemental or follow-on agreement that addresses Iran’s development or testing long-range missiles, ensures strong IAEA inspections, and fixes the flaws of the ‘sunset clause.’”

 Washington has demanded that Iran grant International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors immediate and unlimited access to any site in the country, including military bases; the elimination of “sunset clauses” in the JCPOA, making time-limited restrictions on aspects of Iran’s civil nuclear program permanent; and drastically limiting, if not outlawing, Iran’s ballistic missile program.

 While presented by Reuters and other media as a softening of the position outlined by Trump in January, the cable makes it clear that the US is continuing to present its nominal allies in Europe with an ultimatum.

 “In the absence of a clear commitment from your side to address these issues, the United States will not again waive sanctions in order to stay in the Iran nuclear deal. If at any time the President judges that such commitment is not within reach, the President indicated he would end US participation in the deal.”

 The cable’s “talking points” for US diplomats to advance Washington’s agenda in Europe stress “the Trump administration’s strategy to counter the Iranian regime’s reckless aggression,” which “addresses the full range of Iranian threats, of which Iran’s nuclear program is only one element.”

 The clear implication is that Washington is embarked on a trajectory of war with Iran, either with or without the collaboration of its NATO allies in Berlin, London and Paris. Should they join with the US in ripping up the nuclear accord, it will set them on a collision course not only with Iran, but also with Russia and China, the two other signatories to the JCPOA.

 The US has spelled out its own intentions in the Trump administration’s recent National Security Strategy, lumping Iran together with North Korea under the category of “rogue states” that represent a threat to US “national interests” and are to be confronted and defeated.

 None of the European powers responded directly to the US cable, which the State Department itself refused to discuss. Asked about the US demands in an online media briefing, the French Foreign Ministry declared: “The French position on the Iran nuclear deal is known. As the President of the Republic [Emmanuel Macron] has said, we reaffirm our full attachment to the global action plan and its strict implementation.” It added that Paris would “continue to talk about the Iran nuclear program with our European and American partners.”

 The European powers are pursuing their own imperialist interests in the Middle East and are increasingly at odds with US interests and strategies. The lifting of sanctions against Iran was greeted by European corporations as an opportunity to generate a fresh stream of profits through billions of dollars in new investments and trade deals. Many of these plans remain unfulfilled because of concerns that the US will target companies with unilateral sanctions, and that their investments could go up in smoke in the event of a new and catastrophic US war in the Middle East.

 While hostile to Iran’s growing influence in the region, the European powers are increasingly alarmed at the prospect that Washington’s strategy of forging a regional anti-Iranian alliance with Israel and Saudi Arabia, together with the other Sunni Gulf oil sheikdoms, will produce a military confrontation that could cut off oil supplies upon which Europe depends and unleash a political and refugee crisis that will spill onto the continent.

 Washington has issued its latest ultimatum in the midst of an explosive escalation of regional tensions, driven in the main by US and Israeli aggression. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spelled out Tel Aviv’s aggressive stance against Iran in a bellicose speech to the Munich Security Conference on Sunday. Holding up what he claimed was a piece of an Iranian drone shot down over Israeli-occupied Syrian territory in the Golan Heights, he denounced Iran as “the greatest threat to the world,” equating it with Nazi Germany.

 “We will act without hesitation to defend ourselves, and we will act if necessary not just against Iran’s proxies that are attacking us, but against Iran itself,” said Netanyahu, in a clear threat to attack Iran, an action that his government would undertake only with US backing.

Israel responded to the alleged overflight of the drone, which Tehran insists was launched by independent Syrian militia elements in Syria, by targeting Iranian personnel in Syria with air strikes. Syrian air defense units succeeded in shooting down an Israeli F-16 fighter jet, the first such loss for the Israeli Air Force since the early 1980s.

 Speaking in response to Netanyahu at the Munich conference, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Iranian foreign minister, attributed the frenzied tone of Netanyahu’s speech to the downing of the warplane. “The so-called invincibility of [Israel] has crumbled,” he said.

 The US military and intelligence apparatus and its loyal stenographers in the US corporate media are churning out continuous war propaganda against Iran.

 Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, US national security advisor Gen. H.R. McMaster declared it was necessary to “act against Iran,” which he accused of arming a “network of proxies” that is “becoming more and more capable as Iran seeds more and more…destructive weapons into these networks.”

 The New York Times published a lengthy piece Monday based on interviews with Israeli military officers and government officials along with representatives of US, Israeli and Saudi-funded think tanks alleging that Iran is “creating an infrastructure [in Syria] to threaten Israel.” Needless to say, the article made no mention of Israel’s own funding and aid for Sunni Islamist militias attacking the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad.

 The same issue of the Times carried an opinion piece by US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley claiming, falsely, that a report issued by the United Nations proved that Iran has shipped missiles to the Houthi rebels in Yemen to fire at Saudi Arabia. The actual report found that “remnants” of the missiles were of Iranian origin, while providing no evidence as to how they got there.

 Haley insists that the world must “act before a missile hits a school or a hospital and leads to a dangerous military escalation that provokes a Saudi military response.”

 The column echoes the “big lie” methods pioneered by Nazi Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels.

That Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemeni schools, hospitals, neighborhoods and infrastructure for nearly three years, killing some 13,000 Yemeni civilians and plunging the country’s population into the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet, goes unmentioned.

 Haley is also silent on the fact that the US has provided the vast majority of the bombs and missiles dropped on the Yemeni people, while mounting logistical and refueling operations that make the mass slaughter possible.

Alsof we terug zijn in de tijd, de tijd voor de illegale aanval van de VS tegen Irak in 2003. Destijds werd er door Collin Powell (toenmalig VS minister van buitenlandse zaken) keihard gelogen in de VN, om een enorme oorlogsmisdaad van te voren recht te kunnen praten……. (een oorlog tegen een ander land voeren is een gigantische oorlogsmisdaad)

Ook nu wordt er door de VS ambassadeur voor de VN, hare kwaadaardigheid en superoplichter Haley, zonder blikken of blozen gelogen over ‘het gevaar Iran…….’

Lawrence Wilkerson was de stafchef van Colin Powell. Hij was dan ook één van de medeverantwoordelijken voor de illegale oorlog tegen Irak in 2003…….

Dezelfde Wilkerson beschuldigt nu de Trump administratie van het manipuleren van ‘bewijsmateriaal’ en het angstzaaien voor Iran (waar Wilkerson vergeet haatzaaien te noemen, dit is immers een vast onderdeel in de leugencampagnes die de VS voert, haatzaaien tegen een tegenstander, neem de leugens over het vermoorden van couveuse baby’s in Koeweit door Iraakse militairen, voorafgaand aan de eerste illegale oorlog van de VS in 1991 tegen Irak….. In 2003 waren het de massavernietigingswapens die Irak zou hebben, terwijl de VN wapeninspecteur Blix meermaals stelde dat dit niet het geval was en dat was het dan ‘ook niet…..’

Of wat dacht je van de beschuldigingen aan het adres van Syrië voor het gebruiken van gifgas tegen de eigen bevolking, dit is nooit bewezen, sterker nog: wel werd bewezen dat elke gifgasaanval die werd onderzocht in Syrië, op de ‘doodsrekening’ staat van de ‘gematigde rebellen’, geteisem dat door het westen wordt gesteund…… Maakt allemaal niet uit: alsnog blijven de westerse reguliere (massa-) media en het grootste deel van de westerse politici deze leugens herhalen…… Dit zijn ‘false flag’ operaties, dus met opzet, zoals in dit geval, mensen gruwelijk vermoorden (of de poging daartoe) met gifgas en dit in de schoenen van een ander schuiven…..

De Trump administratie had zelfs het gore lef te stellen dat Iran samenwerkt met Al Qaida, terwijl Al Qaida elke sjiiet die het tegenkomt vermoord. Hetzelfde werd voor de oorlog tegen Irak gesteld, terwijl Al Qaida onder Saddam Hoessein geen poot aan de grond kreeg in Irak……. Intussen heeft de VS samengewerkt met Al Qaida Syrië en de tak van deze terreurgroep in Syrië zelfs van de zwarte terreurlijst heeft gehaald……

Ik snap werkelijk niet waarom de reguliere media hier geen aandacht aan hebben besteed en elke (zelfs bewezen) claim dat de VS samenwerkt met IS of Al Qaida afdoen als complotdenken…… Daar kan maar één reden voor zijn, de welgestelde bazen of investeringsgroepen die deze media in handen hebben en de regeringen (die middels subsidies voor de publieke omroepen hun zeggenschap kunnen afdwingen) tevreden houden, kortom: kwade opzet! (al zullen die media dit ook afdoen als een complottheorie…..)

Nog een ‘klein detail’ in deze: met het meegaan van de reguliere massamedia in het keihard liegen, brachten (in het geval van de twee VS oorlogen tegen Irak) en brengen de reguliere (massa-) media een ongelofelijke berg ‘fake news’ (‘nepnieuws…)…… Dezelfde media die nu om het hardst schreeuwen dat de sociale media vol staan met ‘fake news’ ofwel ‘nepnieuws’

(ANTIMEDIA) — Fifteen years after the calamitous U.S. invasion of Iraq, an architect of the propaganda used to drum up support for the war is warning that it’s happening again — this time with Iran.
Lawrence Wilkerson, who was chief of staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell, helped the then-secretary “paint a clear picture that war was the only choice” in his infamous 2003 speech to the U.N. This week, writing for the New York Times — an outlet that, at the time, parroted misleading narratives in support of the war — Wilkerson accused the Trump administration of manipulating evidence and fear-mongering in the same way the Bush administration did to cultivate public support for ousting Saddam Hussein.
In his Monday op-ed, titled “ I Helped Sell the False Choice of War Once. It’s Happening Again,” he wrote:
“As his chief of staff, I helped Secretary Powell paint a clear picture that war was the only choice, that when ‘we confront a regime that harbors ambitions for regional domination, hides weapons of mass destruction and provides haven and active support for terrorists, we are not confronting the past, we are confronting the present. And unless we act, we are confronting an even more frightening future.’”
Though the U.N. and much of the world didn’t buy it, Wilkerson says Americans did, and it amounted to the culmination of a two-year effort by the Bush administration to initiate the war, which he now condemns
“That effort led to a war of choice with Iraq — one that resulted in catastrophic losses for the region and the United States-led coalition, and that destabilized the entire Middle East,” he wrote, going on to call out the Trump administration for pushing the United States down the same path in Iran.
“This should not be forgotten,” he urged, “since the Trump administration is using much the same playbook to create a false impression that war is the only way to address the threats posed by Iran.”
Wilkerson singled out Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, for her recent saber-rattling against Iran. He accused her of presenting questionable evidence that “Iran was not complying with Security Council resolutions regarding its ballistic missile program and Yemen,” comparing her directly to Powell. “Just like Mr. Powell, Ms. Haley showed satellite images and other physical evidence available only to the United States intelligence community to prove her case. But the evidence fell significantly short.”
Wilkerson accused Haley’s claims about Iran of essentially mirroring Powell’s claims about Iraq, also warning that war with Iran will be very different. It is “a country of almost 80 million people whose vast strategic depth and difficult terrain make it a far greater challenge than Iraq, would be 10 to 15 times worse than the Iraq war in terms of casualties and costs,” he cautioned, still asserting that countries like China, Russia, and North Korea pose far more “formidable challenges to America” than Iran does.
The former chief of staff to Powell further criticized the Trump administration, citing its National Security Strategy, which claims:
“The longer we ignore threats from countries determined to proliferate and develop weapons of mass destruction, the worse such threats become, and the fewer defensive options we have.”
“The Bush-Cheney team could not have said it better as it contemplated invading Iraq,” Wilkerson wrote, going on to call out not just Haley and the Trump administration but also the executive branch in general, Congress, and the media.
“Though Ms. Haley’s presentation missed the mark, and no one other than the national security elite will even read the strategy, it won’t matter,” he lamented. “We’ve seen this before: a campaign built on the politicization of intelligence and shortsighted policy decisions to make the case for war. And the American people have apparently become so accustomed to executive branch warmongering — approved almost unanimously by the Congress — that such actions are not significantly contested.”
He implicated the news media, as well, noting that outlets recently “failed to refute false narratives” from the Trump administration that Iran worked with Al-Qaeda to undermine the U.S. (never forget the CIA’s overseas meddling helped lay the foundation for Al-Qaeda in the first place, and its policy of arming extremists in Syria also ended up empowering the terror group). He compared this false conflation with Dick Cheney’s attempts to link Saddam Hussein to Al-Qaeda during the Bush years.
Nevertheless, Wilkerson wrote, “[t]oday, the analysts claiming close ties between Al Qaeda and Iran come from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, which vehemently opposes the Iran nuclear deal and unabashedly calls for regime change in Iran.”
He went on to list the variety of ways the Trump administration is drumming up unfounded support for war against Iran:
“We should include the president’s decertification ultimatum in January that Congress must ‘fix’ the Iran nuclear deal, despite the reality of Iran’s compliance; the White House’s pressure on the intelligence community to cook up evidence of Iran’s noncompliance; and the administration’s choosing to view the recent protests in Iran as the beginning of regime change. Like the Bush administration before, these seemingly disconnected events serve to create a narrative in which war with Iran is the only viable policy.”
Considering Iran has long been a crown jewel in the U.S. hegemonic efforts, it should be no surprise the Trump administration isn’t budging on its plans to intervene. Wilkerson, however, knows far better than most the dangers of pushing unsubstantiated claims to advocate war.
He warned:
“As I look back at our lock-step march toward war with Iraq, I realize that it didn’t seem to matter to us that we used shoddy or cherry-picked intelligence; that it was unrealistic to argue that the war would ‘pay for itself,’ rather than cost trillions of dollars; that we might be hopelessly naïve in thinking that the war would lead to democracy instead of pushing the region into a downward spiral.”

Het verborgen motief achter de Israëlische agressie tegen Iran en Syrië

Israël onderhield goede banden met de in 1953 door de VS geparachuteerde sjah van Perzië (Iran), dit na een door de VS opgezette staatsgreep tegen de democratisch gekozen regering van premier Mossadegh….. In 1968 zetten de 2 landen een onderneming op poten, om zo Perzische olie te transporteren naar Israël, dit daar het Suez Kanaal was geblokkeerd door Egypte. Deze onderneming, de Eilat-Ashkelon Pijpleiding (EAPC), was in feite een vervolg op de al lang door Perzië geleverde olie aan Israël, al werd dat tot die tijd geheim gehouden, om spanningen tussen Perzië en arabische landen te vermijden……
Zo’n 10 jaar lang werd er Perziche (Iraanse) olie geleverd via deze pijpleiding, waar de opbrengsten voor de sjah na de omwenteling van de Iraanse revolutie (1978-19790 in Israël bleven. Na deze revolutie* erkende Israël het nieuwe bewind niet en werd het geld dat Iran nog tegoed had, niet overgedragen aan dat bewind……..
Reden daarvoor: Israël weigerde (en weigert nog steeds) de Iraanse tegoeden over te maken naar dat land, daar het geen geld zou overmaken naar een vijandig land. De Zwitserse rechter heeft daarover gezegd, dat niets de overmaking van het geld naar Iran in de weg staat……
EAPC bestaat nog steeds en de olie die door de (nieuwe) pijpleiding wordt vervoerd, komt volgens deskundigen uit voormalige Sovjet staten, echter daar is geen zekerheid over daar er een bij de wet afgedwongen zwijgplicht bestaat….
De EAPC bedrijfsvoering blijft geheim en is intussen bekend als de Europe Asia Pipeline Co. Ofwel de ‘EAPC-B’, een bedrijf in handen van Israël. De zwijgplicht over dit bedrijf is nog onlangs verlengd met 5 jaar, op overtreding van de zwijgplicht staat een gevangenisstraf tot 15 jaar……
De macht van Israël gaat ver over haar eigen grenzen, zo moest journalist Nafeez Ahmed proefondervindelijk ervaren……. Een artikel van deze journalist werd door The Guardian in juli 2014 gepubliceerd, daarin schreef Ahmed dat de oorlog die Israël tegen de Gazastrook voerde in 2014, alles te maken had met de enorme voorraad aardgas voor de kust van de Gazastrook.
Ahmed schreef in het blog, ‘Earth Insight’ van The Guardian over de link tussen milieu en geopolitiek. Het bewuste artikel zorgde ervoor dat The Guardian stopte met dit blog, onder het voorwendsel dat een aantal artikelen van Ahmed op het blog niet in de lijn waren van de opzet die tot het opzetten van dit blog hebben geleid…….. Dit terwijl het bewuste artikel op grote schaal werd verspreid en gelezen. Ook heeft The Guardian nooit het artikel teruggenomen, of genoemde zaken weersproken…….. Je snapt natuurlijk dat The Guardian handelde onder druk van Israël en de pro-Israëlische regering Cameron
Ahmed had overigens ook over de oorzaak van de oorlog tegen Syrië geschreven en terecht merkte hij op dat één van de hoofdoorzaken van de Israëlische agressie tegen dat land gelegen is in de weigering van Syrië een gaspijpleiding over haar grondgebied toe te staan……. Dit blokkeerde de wens van Israël om één van de grote spelers in de ‘gaswereld’ te worden…….

The Forgotten Motive Behind Israel’s Warmongering in the Middle East

(ANTIMEDIA) — In the over two decades that an American-installed puppet ruled over Iran prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran and Israel maintained friendly ties. In 1968, the two countries set up a joint venture known as the Eilat-Ashkelon Pipeline Co. (EAPC) to transport Iranian oil to the Mediterranean, primarily after Egypt blocked the Suez Canal. This move hindered Iranian oil exports at the time. Iran was already supplying Israel with the bulk of its oil prior to the formation of EAPC but did so secretly to avoid tension with the Arab world.
For about a decade, the pipeline carried Iranian oil from the Red Sea for export to Europe. Following the fall of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1979, the Iranian leadership has been demanding their share of revenue and assets that remained in Israel, no longer a country recognized by the Islamic Republic.
According to Business Insider, no one knows how much profit the EAPC has made or how much it is worth because it is protected in a similar way to Israel’s intelligence agencies through the use of gag orders. The source of its oil, while suspected to be mainly from former Soviet states, is also protected by the gag orders. Even Business Insider’s report states that the article had to pass through the military censor prior to publishing. However, we do know that the EAPC has reportedly become the largest distributor of oil in Israel with ambitions to become a major hub in the Mediterranean.
In 1994, Iran began pursuing an arbitration case against Israel, first in France and then in Switzerland. In 2016, the Swiss court handling the matter determined that the Israeli government owed Iran $260,000 for oil sent to Israel prior to the fall of the Shah in 1979 as part of a wider $1.2 billion owed to Iran (plus interest). Israel was also required to pay Iran’s legal fees of $208,000. Israel denied it was required to send money to an “enemy country,” but given that sanctions against Iran were supposed to have been lifted under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015, the Swiss Court also ruled there were no legal obstacles preventing Israel from sending payment to Iran.
Now, the EAPC will continue to operate secretly following an Israeli parliamentary committee ruling at the end of December. It is now known as the Europe Asia Pipeline Co. (EAPC-B), a company owned by the Israeli government. The gag order protecting the pipeline has been extended five more years, and breaches of the gag order can incur a 15-year jail sentence.
Israel’s ability to punish people who document its energy-related ambitions far exceeds the power of a domestic gag order. In July 2014, the Guardian published journalist Nafeez Ahmed’s blog, which claimed Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza at the time was rooted in a desire to control Palestinian gas. The Guardian axed his blog not long after and released the following statement:
“Nafeez Ahmed is a freelance journalist who self-published blog posts on our environment blogging network for just over a year as a regular contributor. He has never been on the staff of the Guardian. His Guardian blog – Earth Insight – was about the link between the environment and geopolitics, but we took the decision to end the blog when a number of his posts on a range of subjects strayed too far from this brief.”
As journalist Jonathan Cook explained, the Guardian’s motives were all too apparent:
“Interestingly, Ahmed’s article went viral, becoming the most shared of any of the paper’s stories on Operation Protective Shield. But readers appear to have had better news judgment than the Guardian’s editors. Rather than congratulate him, the Guardian effectively fired Ahmed, as he details in the link below. Israel barely has enough energy resources of its own to maintain even 50 percent of its exports. In 2000, there was a discovery of 1.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas off the Gaza coast, valued at $4 billion. Israel also later made other monumental discoveries of gas in Syria and Lebanon, as well, two known adversaries of the Israeli government. Israel is eager to intervene in both countries (for completely unrelated reasons, of course).
Anyone who tells you that natural resources like oil and gas do not play into Israel’s regional ambitions is either lying to you or grossly misinformed. Israel is even reportedly attempting to revive a century-old railway to connect the country to the wider Middle East – including Saudi Arabia – with the intention of outmaneuvering Iran and creating a fully-fledged anti-Iran axis based solely on trade.
Clearly, Israel’s infatuation with Iran has little to do with baseless claims about Iran’s non-existent nuclear weapons and everything to do with money and resources. Israel was happy to do business with a brutal Iranian dictator some decades ago, only to pretend to care about human rights now when Iranians take to the streets to protest an equally questionable regime.
Let’s call a spade a spade and recognize pipeline politics for what it is – the driving force behind the current regional standoff plaguing the Middle East and beyond.

IS heeft in een gruwelijke video de oorlog verklaart aan Hamas in de Gazastrook, tijdens deze video wordt een vermeend Hamas lid geexecuteerd…..
Wat een toeval hè, vlak nadat een Israëlische veiligheidsdienst (MAETIC)* IS aanwees als een mogelijke bondgenoot tegen Iran………** Overigens heeft Israël al meer diensten verleend aan IS, zoals het opknappen van gewonde strijders op de Golanhoogten, waarna deze konden doorvechten tegen het reguliere Syrische leger. Voorts neemt het Israëlische leger posities van reguliere Syrische troepen onder vuur op ‘aanvraag’ van IS…….
Dit doet het ergste vrezen voor het al zo geplaagde en zwaar onderdrukte Palestijnse volk in de Gazastrook……

ISIS Declares War on Hamas in Gruesome Execution Video

(ANTIWAR.COM) — A new video released by the ISIS affiliate in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula amounts to a declaration of war against the Hamas movement in the neighboring Gaza Strip, condemning the Palestinian group as “apostates.”
In the video, an ISIS preacher calls for viewers to attack Hamas sites and courthouses in the Gaza Strip, saying they are “pillars of tyranny.” The video closes with the execution of an ISIS member identified as Musa Abu Zamat, who they accused of smuggling weapons to Hamas’ military wing.

The video attacked Hamas for numerous reasons, including its support for democratic values, and its stated position that they are not hostile with Jews for religious reasons, but at odds with Israel over occupied Palestinian land.
Hamas dismissed the video as a “Zionist production” aimed at distorting the resistance against Israel. Hamas has regularly fought with ISIS-linked factions within the Gaza Strip, though such groups are a lot smaller than the Sinai version.
