Bolsonaro,
de Braziliaanse president, heeft lak aan de oorspronkelijke volkeren en
steekt dat bepaald niet onder stoelen en banken….. Na amper een jaar ‘regeren’ door fascist Bolsonaro wordt het duidelijk dat de
oorspronkelijke volkeren (‘indianen’) op nog grotere schaal worden vermoord, zo is
bekend dat er vorig jaar 10 van deze mensen zijn vermoord (dat zijn
er overigens veel meer, maar het aantal van 10 is wat men weet…), onder deze 10 bevinden
zich 7 leiders van de oorspronkelijke volkeren, ofwel daarmee
probeert Brazilië het verzet de kop in te drukken, verzet tegen de
vernietiging van de leefgebieden in het Amazonewoud van deze
volkeren…….

Sinds
Bolsonaro aan het bewind is sinds 1 januari vorig jaar, zijn de branden in het Amazonewoud met een fiks
percentage (dubbele cijfers) toegenomen, natuurlijk heeft dat ook aan een aantal leden van deze
oorspronkelijke volkeren het leven gekost, ofwel deze mensen worden
in feite dubbel vervolgd….. Niet alleen dubbel vervolgd wat betreft de moord op
hen door zogenaamde kolonisten, die voor bomenkap of landbouwgrond
het Amazonegebied zijn ingetrokken, of door de autoriteiten die
lastige leiders van deze volkeren het liefst een kopje kleiner maken,
maar ook door het vuur dat de ‘kolonisten’ aansteken voor
landbouwgrond (voornamelijk voor de teelt van sojabonen*)….. Op zeker dat bij deze bosbranden een aantal mensen van deze volkeren het leven hebben gelaten en dan nog gaat dit maar over één gebied in het Braziliaanse Amazonewoud, te weten Maranhão…….

Het feit
dat Bolsonaro van meet af aan duidelijk heeft gemaakt schijt te
hebben aan de oorspronkelijke volkeren en het behoud van het
Amazonewoud, sterkt uiteraard de gewelddadige ‘kolonisten’ in hun
vervolging van deze oorspronkelijke volkeren…..

De grootste genocide ooit, begonnen en uitgevoerd door het witte Europese geteisem op de oorspronkelijke volkeren van de drie Amerika’s, is nog steeds niet opgehouden……

president has made his hatred of indigenous people well known, and
it’s getting them killed.

Native
people are being murdered in Brazil’s rainforest

Ten
indigenous people, seven of them leaders of their communities in the
Amazon Rainforest, were murdered in 2019.
It’s a sad, but unsurprising story. Brazil’s
right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro — AKA the Trump of the southern
hemisphere — has be unwavering, unapologetic and vocal about his
hatred of indigenous people in his country.
He’s dramatically curtailed their rights and allowed large companies
to invade their lands to exploit its resources for profit.

It’s set up confrontations between
greedy businesses and native people. Historically,
it’s the native people who suffer and lose.

This culture of hatred, isn’t just
exploitative, it is deadly. The most recent victim was a 15-year-old
boy who was violently stabbed to death. What’s worse, is that most
of the murders have gone unsolved and the government has done little
to find the killers. The message is clear: businesses have a carte
blanche to kill native people in Brazil.

Fortunately, Bolsonaro isn’t a
dictator yet. If the federal government won’t protect its citizens,
local authorities can — and must — step in to bring justice for
the victims and their grieving families. 

 

Sign
the petition to demand the Military and Civi Police in the state of
Maranhão investigate all killings of indigenous people and prosecute
their murderers.

Het is
Danny Danon, de Israëlische ambassadeur voor de VN, nu echt geheel in de psychopathische bol geslagen, volgens
hem moeten de Palestijnen zich overgeven zoals Egypte dat eerder
heeft gedaan, dit heeft dat land geen windeieren opgeleverd, aldus de ploert, waar hij overigens loog dat Egypte zich overgaf (voor details lees het hieronder opgenomen artikel)…….. 

Danon wijst er voorts op dat de Duitsers en Japan zich ook hebben overgegeven aan het
eind van WOII en ook voor hen betekende dit economische
vooruitgang, even vergetend dat Palestina geen soevereine staat is met een leger zoals Duitsland en Japan dat wel waren, kortom een vergelijking die als een tang op een varken slaat……

Uiteraard
moeten de Palestijnen verder afzien van een eigen staat, ofwel de
Palestijnen moeten nationalistische suïcide plegen. Alleen deze zaken
kunnen volgens Danon leiden tot duurzame vrede…… Danon vergeet
even dat Israël ook tegen de Palestijnen (die in ander ‘Israëlische gebied’
leven dan de West Bank of de Gazastrook) wetten heeft aangenomen
waarbij deze Palestijnen, door Israël aangeduid als arabieren,
werden teruggezet van klasse 2 burgers naar klasse 3 burgers…..

Danon
plaatste e.e.a. in de New York Times, dit tijdens overleg in Bahrein
over de toekomst van de Palestijnen, waar de Palestijnen niet aan
willen deelnemen, daar de voorwaarden voor deelname een overgave aan Israël zou
betekenen…….

Vergeet
niet dat de stichting van de staat Israël illegaal was en nog steeds
is, het grondgebied dat zionisten met geweld van de Palestijnen
afnamen, behoort nog steeds aan de vorige eigenaren, ofwel de
Palestijnen, die i.t.t. wat Israël zegt, wel degelijk rechten kunnen
doen gelden op de eigendommen die ze eeuwen in bezit hebben
gehad….. Niet de Palestijnen waren verantwoordelijk voor het
afvoeren van Joden naar de dodenkampen, maar nazi-Duitsland met
behulp van politie en andere autoriteiten van de bezette gebieden
(zoals die van Nederland), waaruit Joden werden afgevoerd……. Uit
schaamte ziet men in het westen alles door de vingers wat Israël flikt, terwijl dit land NB veel zaken heeft overgenomen die door de
nazi’s werden geïntroduceerd en nu worden gebruikt tegen het vervolgde Palestijnen
volk……

in the New York Times, Israeli UN Ambassador says Palestinian
surrender and ‘national suicide’ is needed for peace

This
came out yesterday in the pages of the New
York Times:

The
“economic workshop” in Bahrain this week, a summit of business
leaders and political figures, is the first step in the rollout of
the Trump administration’s long-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace
plan. However, because the plan offers a new approach, many on the
Palestinian side, including President Mahmoud Abbas and the chief
Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, say that the plan is dead on
arrival and that engaging with it is tantamount to a Palestinian
declaration of surrender. I ask: What’s wrong with Palestinian
surrender?

Israel’s
UN Ambassador Danny Danon’s opinion
piece,
titled “What’s Wrong With Palestinian Surrender?” posits
that the current Bahrain conference (today and tomorrow) is something
that Palestinians should have embraced, rather than rejected.


This
“economic workshop”, based upon the “deal of the century”
concept, is indeed proving to be dead on arrival. Arguably, this is
just the Emperor’s
New Clothes,
where the gown is called “New Palestine”, offering no political
substance, just a lot of money. Not only has the Palestinian
Authority boycotted it (and persuaded Palestinian businessmen not to
attend) – Israeli officials are reportedly not going to be there
either.

Danon
is simply chiding the Palestinians for yet again missing a wonderful
opportunity. Yet he is quite clear about what this opportunity means:
It’s an opportunity to surrender.

With
Danon, one is often instinctively caused to think “is he being
serious?” – but then you remember that this is the guy who waves
bibles at
the UN Security Council to claim ownership of all of historical
Palestine, and you get that yes, he’s being serious.

“Destroying
Israel”

Danon
writes that the problem with Palestinians is that their “national
identity” is about “destroying Israel”. Having chided the
Palestinians for their high unemployment rates despite foreign aid
(Danon does not mention that Israel plunders about
78% of that aid, though he does note over 50 percent unemployment in
Gaza), Danon then procedes to point out the supposed essential flaw
in the Palestinian national identity:

Yet
[Palestinian Chief Negotiator] Mr. Erekat and the Palestinian
leadership choose to stay the course and reject the term “surrender.”
In doing so, they expose the uncomfortable truth about the
Palestinian national identity: It is motivated not by building a
better life for its people but by destroying Israel.

To
bolster his point about this intrinsic flaw, Danon points out how
“Western national ethos” is liberal – and here he brings not
only the US “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and the
French “Liberté, égalité, fraternité”, but also the Israeli
“natural right of the Jewish people to be masters of their own fate
in their own sovereign State”. This is deeply ironic. If Danon were
following the vein of the former two, he could have cited something
else from the Israeli Declaration of Independence, for example
“complete equality of social and political rights to all its
inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex”. For all the
discrepancy between what is written and reality, it would have at
least looked better.
But no, Danon chooses one of the most nationalist, exclusivist
clauses, containing the “master” language, which in the Israeli
reality has an all too cynical meaning. Danon reveals his
white-and-Jewish-supremacist bias, which he seems to think is
enlightened.

Danon
then compares this to the supposed Palestinian ethos, citing from the
1968 PLO charter:

In
contrast to these Western national ethoses, the charter of the
Palestine Liberation Organization, a precursor to the Palestinian
Authority, states its “mottos” as “national unity, national
mobilization, and liberation” and talks about the “basic conflict
that exists between the forces of Zionism and of imperialism on the
one hand, and the Palestinian Arab people on the other.”
Palestinian leaders have rejected multiple peace overtures, launched
intifadas and wars, and sponsored countless acts of terrorism in
adherence to this belief.

Putting
aside for the moment that the PLO has moved to recognize Israel in
treaty, in the 1993 Oslo Accords (while Israel has never recognized
Palestine and Danon’s Likud “flatly rejects the establishment of
a Palestinian Arab state west of the Jordan river”), Danon’s
former comparison of the “Western ethos” as opposed to these
supposedly backwards Palestinian “mottos”, precisely betrays the
colonialist nature of his Zionist venture. The Palestinians are not
allowed to “liberate” themselves from enlightened colonialist
rule – the best they can do is “surrender”, for their own good,
of course.

Palestinians
need to commit “national suicide”

Danon
falsely suggests that the Palestinian aim for statehood is anathema
to recognizing Israel and what he calls “the Jewish people”. The
fact that Israel is recognized in the Oslo Accords proves this is an
invalid point. The two-state solution was precisely seen, at least
from the Palestinian standpoint, as a means of recognition of both
Israel and Palestine, where the PLO had already made concessions to
suffice with a mere 22% of historical Palestine (this ideological
concession was already being made around the
early 1980’s).
But Danon now says that Palestinians should be willing to
negotiate even
without any prospect of a state,
to give up that ambition totally:

With
this national ethos, negotiating without the explicit endorsement of
a Palestinian state is seen as a rejection of the Palestinian
national identity, and an acknowledgment that Israel and the Jewish
people are here to stay. In short, for Mr. Abbas and Mr. Erekat, this
approach is akin to national suicide. Yet a national suicide of the
Palestinians’ current political and cultural ethos is precisely
what is needed for peace. The belief that the Jews have no right to
the land and Israel is to be destroyed, which engenders a culture of
hate and incitement, needs to end.

In
other words, Danon is saying to Palestinians “drop dead.” Danon
is thus suggesting that Palestinians should resort to hopes of a
better afterlife, following their suicide. At least there’s
something to look forward to.

Surrender,
like Egypt

Danon
makes the invalid comparison of Palestine to other sovereign
countries, some of which had surrendered in the past yet experienced
a prosperous (economic) future later. He thus brings examples from
World War Two:

The
United States did not eradicate the German and Japanese people after
their surrender in World War II, but instead helped transform them
from imperial military powers to what are today among the world’s
leading economic powerhouses.

To
bring the comparison closer to our times and to the region, Danon
compares Palestine to Egypt:

In
the Middle East, following defeat in four conventional wars between
1948 and 1973, Egypt surrendered the idea that it could wipe Israel
from the region, and President Anwar Sadat chose peace, which Israel
was ready to accept. After the 1979 peace agreement, Egypt became a
favored recipient of American foreign and military aid, and the
beneficiary of an influx of Western investment. There is no reason to
believe a Palestinian declaration of surrender could not lead to a
similar transformation.

These
comparisons are deeply problematic, for several reasons. First,
Palestine is not a state like Egypt, or Japan, or Germany, with a
military, with their own sovereign territory etc. Palestine is
essentially a fully occupied set of Bantustans which are at the mercy
of Israel’s whims, from checkpoints in the West Bank to seasonal
massacres in Gaza.

Second,
Egypt did not “surrender” – in fact, it surprised Israel in a
devastating joint attack with Syria in 1973, which Egypt fought on
its own occupied Sinai peninsula – not even Israeli territory. That
attack was the language of force, which Israelis regularly chide the
“Arabs” for being the only thing they understand. When Sadat
offered peace overtures to Golda Meir in 1970, he was ignored;
Defense Minister Moshe Dayan said “Better Sharm el-Sheikh without
peace than peace without Sharm el-Sheikh”, referring to the Sinai
coastal town. So, in 1973 Israel got force, a language it
understood, and that led to the peace treaty signed in 1979, where
Israel agreed to withdraw from the Egyptian Sinai. If one wants to
use the word “surrender”, it could be argued that Israel
“surrendered” its wishes to control the Sinai.

“The
Palestinians have little to lose”

Finally,
Danon ends his torturous article with the paragraph:

The
Palestinians have little to lose and everything to gain by putting
down the sword and accepting the olive branch. Israel awaits the
emergence of a Palestinian Anwar Sadat, a leader who is willing to do
what is best for his people — a leader who recognizes that building
a bright future requires surrendering a dark past.

It
may be a Freudian slip, when Danon says “the Palestinians have
little to lose”. US moves to defund various forms of aid to
Palestinians, to “remove from the table” the critical issue of
Jerusalem by moving its embassy, and Israeli blackmailing in the form
of withholding tax revenues, amongst a plethora of other coercive
measures, appear to be aimed at forcing the Palestinians into ever
more dire economic straits, from which they would be prone to
extricate themselves by acceding to the “economic peace” plans
which involve their “national suicide”. But colonialists often
make this error in judgement. They assume, that the only thing their
inferior subjects want is to exist, and make money. Like Jared
Kushner said it recently, when he suggested that
Palestinians were not ready to govern themselves:

What
[the Palestinian people] want is they want the opportunity to live a
better life. They want the opportunity to pay their mortgage.

The
idea that these people might want, or need, freedom from the yoke of
oppression, is apparently beyond the scope of the colonialist mind.
As Danon says, they need to surrender. And this is not in order to be
“masters of their own fate”. Oh, no, Danon makes clear that
mastership is reserved solely for Jews in Israel and Palestine.
Palestinians need to know their place in this hierarchy. In this
hierarchy, Danon, the bible-waving Jew, is at the top, and
Palestinians are at the bottom.

Israëlische kolonisten verantwoordelijk voor branden op de West Bank

Een
woordvoerder van het Israëlische leger heeft moeten toegeven dat niet
Palestijnen, maar illegale Israëlische kolonisten (kwaadaardige
zionisten) branden op de West Bank hebben aangestoken….. Branden die overigens veel
vaker voorkomen op de West Bank, waar Palestijnen of niet bij hun
grond kunnen komen, dan wel ligt hun grond te ver van het huis (soms kilometers
omrijden, waar ze bij elke wegblokkade worden aangehouden en getreiterd, terwijl de boeren de grond meestal vanuit hun huis kunnen zien…)… 

Bij die branden worden soms hele olijfboomgaarden in de
as gelegd en is de rest van wat er verbouwd wordt niet meer te
gebruiken en dus niet te verkopen……..

Bij de branden in de buurt van Nablus moest het Israëlische leger toegeven dat niet de Palestijnen, zoals militairen beweerden, maar Israëlische illegale kolonisten de boel hadden aangestoken. Er waren militairen aanwezig bij dit gebeuren en deze lieten de 2 kolonisten lopen, daarnaast beletten deze militairen de Palestijnen om naar hun grond te gaan in een poging de brand daar te blussen……

Zomaar
een paar zaken waar Palestijnen op de West Bank dagelijks mee te
maken hebben, dit nog naast alle vernederingen, beledigingen en pesterijen die de Palestijnen op de Werst Bank dag in dag uit moeten ondergaan bij de vele Israëlische wegblokkades……. Pesterijen van het Israëlische leger en van de illegale kolonisten (en illegaal zijn de kolonisten m.i. allemaal!!), pesterijen die na 10 keer niet anders kunnen worden gezien dan uitoefening van Israëlische terreur….. Walgelijk!!

Het is al lang duidelijk dat Israël het leven van Palestijnen op de West Bank onmogelijk wil maken, in de hoop dat men vertrekt naar het buitenland, ofwel Israël is bezig met een langzame etnische zuivering……… Nog een voorbeeld van etnische zuivering: Palestijnse jongeren die in het buitenland studeren worden bij terugkomst door Israël veelal niet meer toegelaten tot hun geboorteland, ofwel die zijn door het studeren stateloos geworden…….

Shows Israeli Settlers Starting West Bank Fires, Contradicting Army

(MEMO) — Israeli
human rights organisation B’Tselem has released a video showing
illegal Israeli settlers setting fire to fields in the occupied West
Bank, contradicting the Israeli army’s claim that the blaze was
started by Palestinians.

The
Spokesperson’s Unit of the Israeli army was yesterday forced to
change its original statement, in which it claimed to have
extinguished “a fire set by Palestinians”.

The
fires were started last Friday near the occupied West
Bank villages
of Burin, Urif and Asira Al-Qibliya, all located off Route 60 south
of Nablus. Illegal Israeli settlers from the nearby settlement of
Yitzhar had attacked Palestinians from these villages, with both
groups subsequently blaming the other for causing the fires which
followed.

Contradicting
the Israeli army’s claim of Palestinian culpability, video
footage released by
B’Tselem showed “two Israeli [settlers] — one of them armed
with a Tavor assault rifle — entering grasslands, crouching down
and walking away. Moments later, flames can be seen in the area where
they’d been standing,” the Times
of Israel reported.

B’Tselem
added that “[Israeli] soldiers who were standing next to [the
settlers] did not arrest them and prevent[ed] the Palestinians from
reaching their burning lands”. In a separate video,
settlers can also be seen throwing rocks at nearby Palestinian homes
while four Israeli soldiers stand idly by.

B’Tselem
stressed that the Israeli army had granted “almost total immunity”
to the settlers involved in the attacks, noting that none were
interrogated or arrested following the incident.

Although
the Israeli army today issued a new statement saying “several fires
were set and quickly spread” and that, “in addition to the fires,
some 20 settlers went down to the outskirts of Asirah Al-Qibliyah and
began throwing rocks,” it did not admit its attempts to cover up
the settlers’ attacks. The Israeli army also refused to comment on
why no settlers had been arrested for the arson.

This
is not the first time the Israeli army has been found to have covered
up settler attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Last
month, B’Tselem found that
the army had covered up the killing of 23-year-old Mohammed Abd
Al-Fatah, who was shot by illegal settlers near Huwara – again
located off route 60 – on 3 April. Though media reports at the time
stated that a “would-be Palestinian attacker was shot dead […]
during an attempted stabbing near Huwara,”
B’Tselem’s investigation revealed that in fact Abd
Al-Fatah was killed at close range by armed Israeli settlers.

B’Tselem
detailed how, at 08:30 local time [06:30 GMT], Abd Al-Fatah “started
throwing stones at cars bearing Israeli license plates”, one of
which hit an Israeli settler’s car. The driver pulled over, “then
two gunshots were heard, apparently fired from inside the vehicle”.
The settler then got out of the car and “fired several more shots”
at Abd Al-Fatah, with the help of a truck driver who had seen the
incident and come to “assist” him.

Despite
being transferred to hospital, Abd Al-Fatah later succumbed to his
wounds, leaving behind his wife and young daughter.

B’Tselem,
however, found evidence that the Israeli army subsequently covered up
this series of events:

Minutes
after the two settlers opened fire, Israeli military jeeps arrived on
the scene. […] Eight soldiers [then] went into two nearby shops to
check their security cameras. They dismantled a DVR [recording
equipment] in one of the shops and left. About twenty minutes later,
the soldiers returned to the shop, reinstalled the DVR and watched
the footage. Two soldiers filmed the screen with their mobile phones.
They then erased the footage from the DVR and left.

The
NGO concluded: “Contrary to media reports, [the] shooting of ‘Abd
al-Fatah was unjustified […] The Israeli security forces that
arrived on the scene ignored these facts. They did nothing to arrest
the two settlers, promptly drove the Palestinians away from the
scene, and then addressed the urgent task of eliminating any footage
of the incident, to ensure that the truth never comes to light and
the shooters would not face any charges or be held accountable in any
way.”

stroom uit Europa zal ook gebruikt worden voor de illegale
nederzettingen op de West Bank (dat zijn overigens alle

Palestijnse gezinnen met kinderen maximaal een paar uur stroom per
dag. Israël heeft jaren geleden de elektriciteitscentrale van de Gazastrook vernietigd en valt telkens weer plekken aan waar Palestijnen ofwel
zonnepanelen hebben geïnstalleerd, dan wel plekken waar generatoren
draaien…….

wants to build the longest submarine electricity cable to Europe via
Cyprus and Greece.

The
EuroAsia Interconnector will unify Europe and Israel’s electricity
networks, including grids powering Israel’s illegal settlements in
the occupied Palestinian territory.

This
multi-billion euro project rewards Israel for its war crimes while
Palestinians are being kept in the dark.

Israel’s
siege on Gaza limits electricity to just a few hours per day for
close to 2 million Palestinians living there. Israel has repeatedly
demolished Palestinian solar energy installations in the occupied
West Bank, the only source of energy for many communities.  

UNICEF,
the UN agency for children, is a “proud supporter” of this
shameful project.

In
Groot-Brittannië (GB) gaat nog steeds het verhaal rond, dat GB nooit iets
heeft verdiend aan de kolonisatie van India en daarom was het een
gunst dat GB zo lang als kolonisator in India bleef….. Uit onderzoek zou blijken dat 50%
van de Britten deze smerige leugen gelooft……

Wie een
klein beetje de economie van kolonisators in het verleden onder de
loep heeft genomen, weet dat men nooit een kolonie had behouden, als
daar niet dik geld aan te verdienen was, met uitzondering van strategisch belangrijke gebieden voor die kolonisators, neem Gibraltar….

Onderzoek
van Utsa Patnaik, gepubliceerd op Columbia University Press, toont
dan ook het tegendeel aan van het sprookje dat India de Britse
kolonisator alleen maar geld heeft gekost. Integendeel: GB heeft bij
elkaar 45 biljoen dollar gestolen van de Indiase bevolking, dit in
de periode van 1765 tot 1938. Die 45 biljoen is overigens 17 keer het
huidige Bruto Binnenlands Product van GB……

Via een
smerige systeem wist GB haar winsten zo groot mogelijk te maken: in
1765 nam de East India Company (EIC) de handel over in India, tot die
tijd betaalde GB netjes in zilver voor de producten, echter kort na
die overname van de handel door de EIC, voerde men belastingen in en
van één derde van die belastingopbrengsten uit India, werden de goederen gekocht in
India, ofwel GB kreeg de producten vanaf die tijd gratis, immers de
bevolking betaalde zelf voor die producten via de belastingen…….. 

Na import in GB, exporteerde GB een deel van die goederen naar de rest van Europa, daarmee kon GB de benodigde goederen betalen die nodig waren voor de industrialisatie, zoals staal…. Ofwel GB verkocht in feite gestolen goederen en dat voor een fikse prijs, anders gezegd: dubbele winsten van elk 100%…..

Middels de
belastingen die in India werden geroofd, bekostigde GB ook haar
koloniale oorlogen, zoals die tegen China, bovendien werd uit die belasting zoals gezegd de
industrialisatie van GB en haar kolonies Canada en Australië
betaald….. Niet de stoommachine maakte GB groot maar het gestolen
geld van de Indiase bevolking!

Van 1870
tot 1920 heeft GB met opzet een hongersnood veroorzaakt in India* die aan
tientallen miljoenen Indiërs het leven heeft gekost, ofwel deze
mensen werden vermoord middels één van de ergste oorlogsmisdaden, om
niet te zeggen een grove misdaad tegen de menselijkheid: het uithongeren van een bevolking………. (zie de foto in het hieronder opgenomen artikel)

Uiteraard
heeft ook GB als Nederland voor het Indonesische volk, niet haar excuses aangeboden aan het volk
van India voor de vreselijke misdaden en uitbuiting, laat staan dat
het herstelbetalingen heeft gedaan……..

British
colonizers turned a scam for defrauding peasants into a parasitical
relationship that made England rich and impoverished a
subcontinent.

“$45
trillion is 17 times more than the total annual gross domestic
product of the United Kingdom today.”

There
is a story that is commonly told in Britain that the colonization
of India —
as horrible as it may have been — was not of any major economic
benefit to Britain itself. If anything, the administration of India
was a cost to Britain. So the fact that the empire was sustained for
so long — the story goes — was a gesture of Britain’s benevolence.

New
research by the renowned economist Utsa Patnaik — just published by
Columbia University Press — deals a crushing blow to this narrative.
Drawing on nearly two centuries of detailed data on tax and trade,
Patnaik calculated that Britain drained a total of nearly $45
trillion from India during the period 1765 to 1938.

It’s
a staggering sum. For perspective, $45 trillion is 17 times more than
the total annual gross domestic product of the United
Kingdom today.

How
did this come about?

It
happened through the trade system. Prior to the colonial period,
Britain bought goods like textiles and rice from Indian producers and
paid for them in the normal way — mostly with silver — as they did
with any other country. But something changed in 1765, shortly after
the East India Company took control of the subcontinent and
established a monopoly over Indian trade.

“The
re-export system allowed Britain to finance a flow of imports from
Europe which were essential to Britain’s industrialization.”

Here’s
how it worked. The East India Company began collecting taxes in
India, and then cleverly used a portion of those revenues (about a
third) to
fund the purchase of Indian goods for British use. In other words,
instead of paying for Indian goods out of their own pocket, British
traders acquired them for free, “buying” from peasants and
weavers using money that had just been taken from them.

It
was a scam — theft on a grand scale. Yet most Indians were unaware
of what was going on because the agent who collected the taxes was
not the same as the one who showed up to buy their goods. Had it been
the same person, they surely would have smelled a rat.

Some
of the stolen goods were consumed in Britain, and the rest were
re-exported elsewhere. The re-export system allowed Britain to
finance a flow of imports from Europe, including strategic materials
like iron, tar and timber, which were essential to Britain’s
industrialization. Indeed, the Industrial Revolution depended in
large part on this systematic theft from India.

On
top of this, the British were able to sell the stolen goods to other
countries for much more than they “bought” them for in the
first place, pocketing not only 100 percent of the original value of
the goods but also the markup.

After
the British Raj took over in 1847, colonizers added a special new
twist to the tax-and-buy system. As the East India Company’s monopoly
broke down, Indian producers were allowed to export their goods
directly to other countries. But Britain made sure that the payments
for those goods nonetheless ended up in London.

“The
Industrial Revolution depended in large part on this systematic theft
from India.”

How
did this work? Basically, anyone who wanted to buy goods from India
would do so using special Council Bills — a unique paper currency
issued only by the British Crown. And the only way to get those bills
was to buy them from London with gold or silver. So traders would pay
London in gold to get the bills, and then use the bills to pay Indian
producers. When Indians cashed the bills in at the local colonial
office, they were “paid” in rupees out of tax revenues —
money that had just been collected from them. So, once again, they
were not in fact paid at all; they were defrauded.

Meanwhile,
London ended up with all of the gold and silver that should have gone
directly to the Indians in exchange for their exports.

This
corrupt system meant that even while India was running an impressive
trade surplus with the rest of the world — a surplus that lasted for
three decades in the early 20th century — it showed up as a deficit
in the national accounts because the real income from India’s exports
was appropriated in
its entirety by Britain.

Some
point to this fictional “deficit” as evidence that India
was a liability to Britain. But exactly the opposite is true. Britain
intercepted enormous quantities of income that rightly belonged to
Indian producers. India was the goose that laid the golden egg.
Meanwhile, the “deficit” meant that India had no option but
to borrow from Britain to finance its imports. So the entire Indian
population was forced into completely unnecessary debt to their
colonial overlords, further cementing British control.

“London
ended up with all of the gold and silver that should have gone
directly to the Indians.”

Britain
used the windfall from this fraudulent system to fuel the engines of
imperial violence — funding the invasion of China in
the 1840s and the suppression of the Indian Rebellion in 1857. And
this was on top of what the Crown took directly from Indian taxpayers
to pay for its wars. As Patnaik points out, “the cost of all
Britain’s wars of conquest outside Indian borders were charged always
wholly or mainly to Indian revenues.”

And
that’s not all. Britain used this flow of tribute from India to
finance the expansion of capitalism in Europe and regions of European
settlement, like Canada and Australia. So not only the
industrialization of Britain but also the industrialization of much
of the Western world was facilitated by extraction from the colonies.

Patnaik
identifies four distinct economic periods in colonial India from 1765
to 1938, calculates the extraction for each, and then compounds at a
modest rate of interest (about 5 percent, which is lower than the
market rate) from the middle of each period to the present. Adding it
all up, she finds that the total drain amounts to $44.6 trillion.
This figure is conservative, she says, and does not include the debts
that Britain imposed on India during the Raj.

These
are eye-watering sums. But the true costs of this drain cannot be
calculated. If India had been able to invest its own tax revenues and
foreign exchange earnings in development – as Japan did
– there’s no telling how history might have turned out differently.
India could very well have become an economic powerhouse. Centuries
of poverty and suffering could have been prevented.

“The
cost of all Britain’s wars of conquest outside Indian borders were
charged always wholly or mainly to Indian revenues.”

All
of this is a sobering antidote to the rosy narrative promoted by
certain powerful voices in Britain. The conservative historian Niall
Ferguson has claimed that British rule helped “develop”
India. While he was prime minister, David Cameron asserted that
British rule was a net help to India.

This
narrative has found considerable traction in the popular imagination:
according to a 2014 YouGov poll, 50 percent of people in Britain
believe that colonialism was beneficial to the colonies.

Yet
during the entire 200-year history of British rule in India, there
was almost no increase in per capita income. In fact, during the last
half of the 19th century – the heyday of British intervention —
income in India collapsed by half. The average life expectancy of
Indians dropped by a fifth from 1870 to 1920. Tens of millions died
needlessly of policy-induced famine.

Britain
didn’t develop India. Quite the contrary — as Patnaik’s work makes
clear — India developed Britain.

What
does this require of Britain today? An apology? Absolutely.
Reparations? Perhaps — although there is not enough money in all of
Britain to cover the sums that Patnaik identifies. In the meantime,
we can start by setting the story straight. We need to recognize that
Britain retained control of India not out of benevolence but for the
sake of plunder and that Britain’s industrial rise didn’t emerge sui
generis from the steam engine and strong institutions, as our
schoolbooks would have it, but depended on violent theft from other
lands and other peoples.

Alsof het de normaalste zaak van de
wereld is, heeft het psychopathisch gewelddadige leger van Israël een
school in Bethlehem op de door Israël illegaal bezette West Bank
aangevallen……..

Het is daadwerkelijk een vaak
voorkomend verschijnsel deze terreuraanvallen van het Israëlische leger, waarbij niet zelden een
school wordt vernield. Het Israëlische leger zegt meestal op zoek te
zijn naar stenengooiers, die kolonisten van illegale nederzettingen
in hun auto’s bekogelen, nogmaals op de illegaal door Israël bezette
West Bank……. Dit terwijl datzelfde leger de zionistische kolonisten beschermt als zij geweld tegen Palestijnen gebruiken, zoals het in brand steken van olijfboomgaarden of zelfs huizen van Palestijnen…….

Niet zelden ook komen er bij dergelijke
aanvallen van het Israëlische terreurleger studenten om het leven, evenals onderwijzend en
ondersteunend personeel….. In totaal zijn er bij deze overvallen 9 studenten en nog eens 55 onderwijzers, dan wel ondersteunend personeel vermoord door het Israëlische leger……. Nog eens 311 studenten, onderwijzers en ondersteunend personeel werden verwond bij deze zionistische terreuracties…….

Met deze acties laat Israël eens te meer zien dat men de Palestijnen het leven onmogelijk maakt en waarmee deze zionisten (fascisten) hopen Palestijnen het land uit te jagen, ofwel hier is sprake van een langzame etnische zuivering……

Ongelofelijk dat dergelijke
grootschalige terreur een groot deel van de wereld onberoerd

army raids Palestinian school in West Bank

Israeli
occupation forces yesterday raided a Palestinian school in Al-Khader
neighbourhood in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem,
the Anadolu Agency reported.

Coordinator
of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC*) Ahmed Salah told Anadolu that
the Israeli occupation force raided Said Bin Al-As School and
detained teachers and students. It was not clear how many people had
been held as a result of the raid.

He
said that the Israeli occupation forces raided the school while
students were sitting exams.

Een bericht dat te lang is blijven liggen, terwijl de reguliere media in Nederland er amper of geen aandacht aan hebben besteed: Middle
East Monitor bracht op 27 juli jl. het bericht dat voor de zoveelste
keer de Israëlische terreurmachine de Al-Aqsamoskee in
Jeruzalem heeft bestormd. De moskeegangers werd urenlang verboden het gebouw
te betreden, daartoe werden de deuren van de moskee met kettingen
afgesloten……. Volgens zeggen zouden een aantal Palestijnen verboden zijn de moskee te verlaten, echter daarvoor kan ik geen bevestiging vinden.

Volgens
getuigen is er meermaals door de Israëlische ‘veiligheidstroepen’
geschoten in de moskee…. Quds Network stelt dat er minstens 2
moskeegangers gewond zijn geraakt….. Een politiewoordvoerder zou hebben gezegd dat er met flessen en vuurwerk werd gegooid naar de Israëlische politie……. Tja, vuurwerk en flessen, echt een reden
om al schietend een moskee in te gaan, alsof we terug zijn in WOII
en de nazi’s een kerk aanvallen tijdens een dienst, nadat men in ‘de gang’ naar die kerk kwaad sprak over nazi-Duitsland…….

Nogmaals: Israël is illegaal in Oost-Jeruzalem en op de West Bank, waar je zelfs de hele stichting van de staat Israël illegaal kan noemen, immers men heeft land afgepakt van Palestijnen die al honderden jaren op hun grond woonden werkten….. Ofwel het land Palestina was van degenen die er woonden en werkten, maar werd door het westen (opgezadeld met een zwaar schuldgevoel vanwege o.a. de Holocaust) en m.n. Groot-Brittannië gegeven aan gewelddadige zionisten, ofwel fascistische Joden…….

Wanneer
komt de wereld gvd eindelijk eens in verzet tegen de psychopathische fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël??

At
least two Palestinian worshippers are thought to have been
injured. Quds
Network tweetedimages
in which one man can be seen lying on a stretcher with blood on his
neck and chest.

The
Waqf, the endowment that holds custodianship of Al-Aqsa, confirmed
reports of injuries, saying that “several people were lightly
injured as a result of clashes,” Haaretz reported.
The Waqf added that “the [Israeli] police blocked the exits from
inside the mosque compound, causing further unrest.”

Reports
as to the cause of the violence are mixed. Haaretz quoted
Israeli police sources as saying “in an unclear and inexplicable
step, stones and fireworks were thrown at the police forces.”

The
heavy handed response by Israeli forces seems to have escalated the
situation. Al
Jazeera Arabic tweeted a
video showing intense firing inside the compound, as Palestinians
sought shelter near buildings. Meanwhile, Lebanese newspaper the
Daily Star reported
that “Israeli police sealed the gates to Jerusalem’s flashpoint
Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.”

Reports
have emerged that Israeli occupation forces are shooting
rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas at Palestinian worshippers
in Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

Videos
show Palestinians running from approaching Israeli soldiers, as shots
can be heard being fired in the background. Smoke can also be seen
engulfing the compound, believed to be coming from tear gas canisters
fired by Israeli forces to disperse the crowds.

A
number of Palestinians have seemingly been arrested and can be seen
being escorted through the compound by armed Israeli forces in riot
gear. Others shared images from inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque itself,
where women and children can be seen sheltering from the violence.

Initial
reports added that Israeli forces have chained the gates of the
mosque.

The
compound, which is situated in Jerusalem’s Old City, is the site of
Friday prayers for thousands of Palestinians. Today’s violence
comes just a week after over a thousand Israeli settlers stormed the
Al-Aqsa compound under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

Keppeltjes hysterie in Duitsland…….

Nadat in Berlijn een student met een keppeltje op het hoofd werd aangevallen, is de hysterie compleet in Duitsland. De berichtgeving, ook in Nederland, n.a.v. van dit voorval is minstens gekleurd zo meldt men keer op keer, dat deze student zijn keppeltje buiten opzette, om te zien wat de reactie zou zijn…….

Met het vorige suggereert men in de reguliere media dat er geen joden zijn die buiten lopen met een keppeltje op het hoofd, echter dat is ver naast de waarheid: in de grote steden (ook in Nederland) doen de ‘wat fanatiekere’ joden dit al jaar en dag. De echte fundamentalistische joodse gelovigen zijn al helemaal herkenbaar op straat (voor een groot deel joden die tegen de Israëlische bezetting van Palestijnse gebieden zijn en één groep verwerpt zelfs de staat Israël).

Nee. één student met een keppeltje op wordt aangevallen en de rapen zijn in praktisch heel Duitsland gaar.

Afgelopen zondag op WDR 5 meldde een (joodse) inbeller, dat keppeltjes normaal gesproken alleen in de synagoge en thuis worden gedragen, Deze vrouw vertelde dat sinds joodse kolonisten, die in feite illegaal Palestijnse grond bezetten, al langer dagelijks keppeltjes zijn gaan dragen, deze gewoonte naderhand werd overgenomen door de fanatieke zionisten, ook buiten Israël………

Kortom het dragen van keppeltjes in het openbaar is een politieke boodschap aan allen die kritiek uitoefenen op de fascistische apartheidsstaat Israël en de enorme oorlogsmisdaden die dit bewind keer op keer begaat……. Het voorgaande zet deze hele zaak zacht gezegd in een ander daglicht…….

In Duitsland afgelopen weekeinde een aantal demonstraties waarbij de manlijke deelnemers voor het overgrote deel keppeltjes op het hoofd hadden……. Duitsland, waar in het recente verleden aanvallen op herkenbare moslims in het openbaar nog amper een wenkbrauw deed fronsen………

John Jansen van Galen: o.a. Zuid-Afrika, Indonesië en Suriname mogen blij zijn, dat ze werden gekolonialiseerd door Nederland………………..

Helen Zille, een witte Zuid-Afrikaanse politicus, stelde in  een Twitter (-bericht), dat het kolonialisme niet alleen negatief was, maar ook goede zaken heeft gebracht, waar ze als voorbeeld noemde een onafhankelijk rechtssysteem (in Z-Afrika…. ha! ha!), transport infrastructuur, waterleiding enz.

Afgelopen zondag was de column in OVT (Radio1) van John Jansen van Galen gewijd aan deze Twitter en zoals was te verwachten van deze plork, staat hij daar ‘dubbel en dwars’ achter. Tot een paar keer toe, had van Galen het over een mes dat aan 2 kanten snijdt……. Jammer dan, dat ‘aan de andere kant’ van dat mes, zich tijdens de westerse overheersing, bijzonder vaak ‘de overgesneden keel’ van een gekolonialiseerde bevond……

Volgens van Galen gingen door uitbuiting een aantal zaken wel goed, zoals Zille dat ook had betoogd, waar van Galen een paar keer op de gezondheidszorg hamerde. Ik moet toegeven, dat van Galen zowaar stelde, dat deze zaken ook in het belang van de kolonisator waren (zoals transport van de gestolen grondstoffen, gezonde slaven enz.). Uitbuiting en onderdrukking gingen gepaard met vooruitgang op alle gebied, aldus van Galen…… Vooruitgang waarom niet was gevraagd, door de miljoenen slachtoffers van het kolonialisme………

De westerse kolonisatie ging gepaard met slavernij, brandschatting, massamoord, verkrachting, marteling, diefstal van grondstoffen, handel in harddrugs als alcohol en opium, enz. enz…….. Door de grenzen die het westen bijvoorbeeld in Afrika heeft getrokken, wordt er tot op de dag van vandaag op veel plaatsen in Afrika gevochten tussen stammen en ‘landen……’ Door macht, verkregen in koloniale tijden, hebben grote firma’s in landen als Nigeria en Congo een flinke vinger in de pap, niet zelden bedrijven die hun hoofdkantoor in het ‘westen’ hebben, bedrijven die vaak nog steeds grondstoffen voor een appel en een ei winnen……. Kortom het kolonialisme is op veel plekken verruild voor neokolonialisme……

Daarmee is meteen de link gelegd met de in ontwikkelingslanden bijna onontkoombare corruptie, die grote bedrijven (als Shell) ten goede komen, het is dan ook in het geheel niet in het belang van die bedrijven, dat de corruptie wordt uitgebannen……

Voorts moet je je afvragen, of de zogenaamde welvaart (zoals goede gezondheidszorg, sanitaire voorzieningen, infrastructuur) die we heden ten dage ‘genieten’, niet zou zijn doorgedrongen in een continent als Afrika. Uiteraard hadden de zaken er in Afrika, zonder westerse koloniale terreur, nu heel anders uitgezien dan zegge zo’n 4 of 5 honderd jaar geleden!! Sterker nog: waarschijnlijk was Afrika dan een continent geweest dat er veel beter voor had gestaan dan heden ten dage!! Waar er ook nog eens een onnoemelijk aantal (massa) moorden minder hadden plaatsgevonden.

Vergeet daarnaast niet, dat gekleurden in gekoloniseerde landen veelal pas tegen het einde van het koloniale systeem mochten studeren……. Onderwijs in de koloniale gebieden was er op gericht, dat de gekoloniseerden zo min mogelijk onderwijs konden genieten, immers een goed opgeleide, zou wel eens een opstand kunnen uitlokken……….

Over de gezondheidszorg kan je verder nog opmerken, dat veel inheemse volken werden getroffen door de ziekten die de westerse kolonisators meebrachten, ziekten waaraan een ongelofelijk aantal mensen is overleden……….

Het rechtssysteem in Suriname was op koloniale leest geschoeid, maar zonder willekeur, aldus van Galen……. Alsof de gekleurden godverdomme blij moeten zijn, dat ze als slaven naar Suriname zijn gebracht, of de Indiërs die met leugens werden gelokt naar Suriname, nadat de slavernij werd afgeschaft (de bevrijde slaven moesten hun oude slavenhouders in Suriname tot het eind van hun leven een schadevergoeding betalen voor het kwijtraken van zijn ‘arbeidskrachten….’). Trouwens over die willekeur: zie ten eerste die schadevergoeding die de bevrijdde slaven moesten betalen, waar daarnaast de belangen van de witte plantagehouders, uitbaters van mijnen, enz., door de rechters toch echt ‘iets beter’ werden behartigd, dan die van de gekleurde Surinamers…….

Nogmaals, nu naar het direct voorgaande verwijzend, is het maar zeer de vraag, of Zuid-Amerika er niet heel anders uit had gezien zonder de terreur van het witte westen….. Een paar dingen zijn duidelijk: miljoenen mensen waren niet ten prooi gevallen aan de moordlust van de westerse koloniale machten…… Wie durft te stellen, dat de bevolking van Zuid- Midden- en Noord-Amerika zonder die terreur niet welvarend was geweest…??

Vergeet niet, dat verreweg de grootste genocides ooit, in de Amerika’s zijn gepleegd door de psychopathische westerse kolonisators……

Jos Palm, katholiekenlikker en monkelend presentator van OVT nam met de volgende woorden afscheid van van Galen: “Bedankt voor je bijdrage aan het doorbreken van één van de laatste taboes in Nederland…….”

Ondanks de positieve mening van van Galen over de Twitter van Zille en het achterlijke compliment van Palm, moet nog wel even verteld worden, dat Zille haar excuus voor haat Twitters heeft aangeboden, dat verzweeg van Galen, terwijl ze dat toch al weken voor het uitspreken van zijn column heeft gedaan…….

Vreemd als je over het kolonialisme van Europese landen hoort, roept dat onmiddellijk (terecht) een negatief beeld op van uitbuiting, diefstal, slavernij, opiumhandel, oorlogen, brandschatting, massamoord en verkrachting (en dan vaak in combinatie….). In de VS is dat heel anders, als daar het woord ‘kolonist’ valt, doelt men op de figuren, die aan totstandkoming van de VS hebben meegeholpen, heldhaftige patriotten ‘dus…..’ Dit terwijl deze kolonisten een genocide op hun geweten hebben, die ongekend is in de menselijke geschiedschrijving…… Het is intussen zo, dat de geminimaliseerde overgebleven oorspronkelijke bevolking van Noord-Amerika, die wij ‘indianen’ plegen te noemen, (niet gewenste) vluchtelingen, ofwel ‘refugees’ in eigen land zijn…….
