Ploumen (PvdA 2de Kamer) wil anticonceptie terug in het basispakket….. OEF!!

Vanmorgen bij MAX Weekend de voormalig minister van Ontwikkelingssamenwerking, hare PvdA leeghoofdigheid Ploumen. Ze sprak over haar ‘vurige wens’ anticonceptie terug te krijgen in het basispakket, dat in 2011 nog uit het basispakket werd gehaald……

Waarom heeft ze dat niet onmiddellijk opgepakt toen ze als minister aantrad voor Rutte 2 in 2012??!!! 5 jaar lang heeft ze hier niets over gezegd en nu komt ze men een mooi maar uiterst hypocriet verhaal waarmee ze vandaag het nieuws heeft gehaald…….

Er is geld genoeg aldus Ploumen, die daarmee in feite aangaf dat er in Rutte 1 en Rutte 2 geen geld was voor anticonceptie in het basispakket…. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! Wat een smerige bedrieger!!

Overigens heeft Ploumen van paus Bergoglio alias Franciscus de orde van Gregorius gekregen* en dat was voor ‘haar strijd’ tegen kindhuwelijken. Tijdens haar bezoek aan de paus heeft deze trut, die godbetert eerder op Ontwikkelingssamenwerking zat, niets gezegd over het verbod van de paus op het gebruik van anti-conceptie waardoor jaarlijks duizenden mensen overbodig overlijden aan aids en waarmee de paus in feite als massamoordenaar kan worden aangeduid……

Ploumen is een oplichter en als ze morgen deel van de regering uit zou maken, zou ze haar mond houden over anticonceptie…… Vergeet verder niet dat Rutte 2 o.a. werd gedoogd door de CU en de SGP, waar de laatste een tegenstander is van anticonceptie…….

Mensen redden wordt bestraft: een nieuw teken van ‘oprukkend’ fascisme

De kapitein van het schip Sea-Watch 3 (onder Nederlandse vlag), Carola Rackete, een 31 jarige Duitser, werd gearresteerd daar ze haar schip met 42 uitgeputte vluchtelingen de haven van Lampedusa in stuurde, nadat haar schip 2 weken voor Lampedusa heeft gelegen, tevergeefs wachtend op toestemming de haven binnen te mogen varen……..

Hoe is het in godsnaam mogelijk dat je wordt gearresteerd en vervolgd als je vluchtelingen (mensen) helpt, in de VS gebeurt dit overigens ook, als je daar vluchtelingen helpt met water en voedsel, vluchtelingen die via VS woestijngebied dat land zijn binnengekomen…….

Het is duidelijk: de groeiende fascismisering van het westen (inclusief een fiks deel van Oost-Europa) zorgt ervoor dat men zonder blikken en blozen durft te stellen dat mensen die vluchtelingen helpen, zich schuldig maken aan mensenhandel, zelfs als de vluchtelingen anders verdronken waren……

Dan te bedenken dat de vluchtelingen voor een heel groot deel op weg zijn gegaan vanwege door het westen veroorzaakte ellende, zoals de illegale oorlogen van de VS, gesteund door andere NAVO-lidstaten als Nederland en Italië…..

Een andere oorzaak voor het ontvluchten van haard en huis is het brodeloos maken van vissers in Afrika door gigantische westerse vissersschepen, die de kustwateren van veel Afrikaanse landen leegvissen……. Voorts is daar nog het werkloos worden van Afrikaanse boeren door dumping op Afrikaanse markten van door de EU gesubsidieerde landbouwoverschotten….. Hetzelfde geldt voor Latijns-Amerika, al is daar de VS als enige de hoofdschuldige voor ellende in dat deel van de 3 Amerika’s…. Ellende als de door de VS uitgeoefende terreur in dat deel van de wereld, bijvoorbeeld terreur in de vorm van economische oorlogsvoering (zoals die tegen Venezuela) en het organiseren van opstanden en staatsgrepen. Ook daar vindt dumping plaats van door VS gesubsidieerde landbouwoverschotten….

Ofwel: ondanks dat het westen de schuldige is voor het op de vlucht slaan van grote stromen mensen, weigert het de slachtoffers daarvan op te nemen en straft het degenen die deze mensen helpen om hun tocht te kunnen overleven, zij kunnen tot 20 jaar gevangenisstraf worden veroordeeld….*

Terwijl alle landen die zich verzetten tegen het opnemen van vluchtelingen wel het VN Vluchtelingenverdrag hebben getekend, alsof dat plotseling een waardeloos vod is geworden…… Nogmaals: en dan de mensen bestraffen die deze arme drommels helpen……

De wereld op de kop, ongelofelijk!!

Vandaag werd bekend gemaakt dat 2 andere schepen voor Lampedusa liggen, met in totaal meer dan 100 vluchtelingen aan boord. WDR meldt dat Duitsland heeft aangeboden de vluchtelingen op te nemen. (Duitsland is dan ook een gunstige uitzondering op de rest van het westen)

Waarschuwing voor Britse regering: diepzeemijnbouw van grondstoffen kan uitsterven unieke soorten teweegbrengen

Alsof
de mens de wereld nog niet genoeg naar de knoppen heeft geholpen en
nog steeds helpt, kwam ik het hieronder opgenomen artikel tegen,
waarin op het gevaar van ‘deep sea mining’ (diepzeemijnbouw) wordt gewezen,
bijzonder soorten die daardoor dreigen uit te sterven, soorten die veelal onder aan de
voedselketen staan, maar daarom niet minder belangrijk zijn voor het
totale ecosysteem van oceanen. (zo zijn een paar walvissoorten echte diepzeeduikers)

Zoals
je wellicht weet, elke manier van delving, of dat nu door graven
gebeurt, door mijnbouw, dan wel middels olie en gaswinning, brengt
vervuiling met zich mee, in de goudwinning is het gevaarlijkst
gebruikt middel zelfs kwik, wat al jaren te vinden is in Surinaamse
rivieren…….

Uiteraard
hoe dieper hoe moeilijker en gevaarlijker diverse soorten van delving
zijn, of je het nu over mijnbouw hebt zoals we die kennen, met alle
gevaren voor de arbeiders (kompels) van dien, of over diepzeeboringen
waar het zeeleven het slachtoffer is…..

De
gevaren die kleven aan het boren in diepzeeën, of op welke andere
manier dan ook delven van grondstoffen is vooral een gevaar voor de
bestaande bijzondere dieren (die we veelal niet eens kennen…) en de
dieren die daarvan afhankelijk zijn en vervolgens de dieren die daarvan weer verantwoordelijk zijn (enz.)….. Neem de ramp in de Golf van Mexico met het door BP gebruikte Deepwater Horizon platform (de naam alleen al….) Nog steeds is in
het grootste deel van het besmette gebied een visverbod van kracht en veel gedupeerden
wachten nog steeds op een fatsoenlijke vergoeding…….

Onbegrijpelijk
dat GB samenwerkt met wapenfabrikant Lockheed Martin voor het delven
van grondstoffen onder oceanen en zeeën…… Alsof Lockheed Martin
als wapenfabrikant niet al één van de grote verantwoordelijken is
voor het om zeep helpen van ons klimaat en het vervuilen van lucht,
bodem, grond- en oppervlaktewater, dit nog naast het vermoorden van miljoenen
mensen in de illegale oorlogen die de VS met haar oorlogshond NAVO
voert in landen waar de VS noch andere NAVO-lidstaten ook maar iets
te zoeken hebben……

Deep
sea mining could lead to “the potential extinction of unique
species which form the first rung of the food chain,” according to
a report commissioned by an arm of the British government.

‘The
Subsea Mining Capability Statement’ – obtained by Unearthed using
freedom of information rules – was produced by the National Subsea
Research Initiative in 2017 and circulated amongst the UK
government’s deep sea mining working group at key stakeholder
meetings.

The
British government has licenses for exploratory mining of
polymetallic nodules in the Pacific Ocean as part of a joint venture
with UK Seabed Resources, a subsidiary of US defence firm Lockheed
Martin.

The
statement’s environmental warnings echo those heard from the
scientific community, many of whom fed into the UK parliament’s
‘sustainable seas’ inquiry which concludeddeep
sea mining “would have catastrophic impacts on the seafloor site
and its inhabitants.”

What
is deep sea mining?

The
process of gathering the minerals that lie atthe bottom of the
ocean – whichincludes
cobalt, a key ingredient in the batteries that power smartphones,
laptops and electric cars – by deploying massive remote controlled
vehicles to hoover up mineral deposits from the seabed floor

It
comes as many in the scientific community have
been sounding the alarm over
the risks posed by deep sea mining, though some cautioned that not
enough is yet known to justify the claim about the extinction of key
species in the capability statement. That, in turn, has led to calls
for further research.

Kerry
McCarthy, a Labour MP who sits on the Environmental Audit Committee,
told Unearthed: “As the fragility of our planet and its
ecosystems becomes starkly more apparent, it’s difficult to believe
the Government is continuing to promote deep-sea mining in the full
knowledge it could pose risks to unique species that are integral to
the food chain.”

David
Rennie, head of Oil and Gas at Scottish Enterprise, the government
agency that commissioned the Subsea capability statement,
told Unearthed: “This report was commissioned to
highlight the market potential in a range of sectors such as
aquaculture and marine renewables, that Scotland’s subsea
capability could be appropriate for in future market activity.
We regularly undertake research into markets to understand the
potential these may have for Scotland’s businesses and economy.

“As
yet we have not made any decisions, or progressed any activity, on
how we might develop seabed mining. Other sectors such as marine
renewables and aquaculture are likely to offer more immediate
opportunities and any significant developments in seabed mining are
likely to be some years off.”

A
UK government spokesperson said: “The UK continues to press
for the highest international environmental standards, including on
deep sea mineral extraction. We have sponsored two exploration
licences, which allows scientific marine research to fully understand
the effects of deep sea mining and we will not issue a single
exploitation licence without a full assessment of the environmental
impact.”

The
distant ocean

Deep
sea mining has yet to start commercially anywhere in the world, but
environmental concerns are based – in part – on the scale of the
projects under consideration, with the UK set to play a leading role
in the industry.

Mining
exploration licenses have been distributed to 22 projects by the
International Seabed Authority (ISA), the intergovernmental body
responsible for regulating resource extraction in the high seas. Each
of the licenses must be sponsored by a national government.

The
territories licensed – spanning the polymetallic nodules south of
Hawaii and the cobalt-rich crusts in the Asian Pacific region to the
sulphide deposits around the Atlantic Ocean’s Lost City and even
more nodules in the Indian Ocean – total an area twice the size of
Ukraine.

An Unearthed analysis
of ISA data shows the UK’s venture with Lockheed Martin is the
single biggest project in the world, covering an expanse off Mexico
larger than England itself.

The
Chinese government, which holds 263 licenses with 2 different
companies, controls the most territory, with the UK government at
number 2. The country is reportedly leading efforts to agree on a law
allowing mining by 2020.

The
United States does not hold licenses since it has not yet ratified
the Law of the Sea Convention (1994) and is thus not a member of the
ISA.

Environmental
fears

Deep
sea mining at this scale has prompted serious concerns from
scientists who warn that far too little is known about the habitats
it will disrupt. Many are calling for a years-long moratorium whilst
research takes place.

Rachel
Mills, Professor of Ocean Chemistry at the University of Southampton,
told Unearthed: “We have been interested in mining deep
sea floor since the 1970’s and scientists have long argued that
small scale experiments should be carried out to understand the
impacts of potential extraction techniques.

“What
we know is that long after these experiments were conducted, the
seafloor is still scarred, and devoid of the hard nodule substrate
required to support the seafloor communities. What we don’t
know is what impact this has on the deepest abyssal plains on the
vast ocean floor.”

Though
she said some scientists believe there is already requisite
information to begin mining, Professor Mills called on government to
“abide by the precautionary principle,” arguing that “we are a
long way off from knowing how to conduct adequate and comprehensive
environmental impact assessments.”

“If
there’s one thing we’ve learned from mining on land it’s that
you need to know about the environmental impact on different scales
and over time, and we just don’t know enough yet.”

Jessica
Battle, who works on ocean governance for environmental group WWF,
made a similar call for an extended moratorium on deep sea mining
until we better understand what impact it could have.

“Scientific
understanding of the ecosystems in the deep sea is still in its
infancy, so much could be destroyed before we even know what’s down
there, or the benefits that these fragile ecosystems provide to the
planet and humanity. We certainly do not think that the case has been
made for seabed mining to progress. We urge all actors involved in
consideration of this form of exploitation to hold back and allow the
science and conservation of these ecosystems to catch up.”

These
concerns are well-known to the officials who lead the ISA, including
its secretary general Michael Lodge, who wrote
in 2013 that
some “ecosystems may never recover” from deep sea mining
activity.

Klimaatakkoord: groei Schiphol plus een biomassacentrale en de Binnenhof bbq met daartoe behorende corruptie

Nadat het kabinet zich heeft verdedigd en een veer in de figuurlijke smerige bips heeft gestoken voor een totaal ontoereikend klimaatakkoord, vond gisteren de jaarlijkse openbare crematie op het Binnenhof plaats van kadavers, aangeduid als bbq…… (zich respecterende milieuclubs als Greenpeace hebben het klimaatakkoord al afgewezen als totaal ontoereikend…..)

Juist onze intensieve martelveehouderij, zorgt ervoor dat Nederland onevenredig verantwoordelijk is voor het aanjagen van de klimaatverandering, ga maar na: jaarlijks worden in Nederland 500 miljoen dieren (idd een half miljard dieren!) groot en dood gemarteld en dat hoofdzakelijk voor de export…… Deze arme dieren stoten een ongelofelijke hoeveelheid methaangas uit, methaangas één van de sterkste broeikasgassen op onze kleine aarde……

‘Leuk detail’: de bbq wordt geheel verzorgd door de Centrale Organisatie voor de Vleessector (COV) en de Vereniging van de Nederlandse Pluimveeverwerkende Industrie (NEPLUVI)…… Waar ambtenaren en politici geen giften van boven de € 50,– mogen accepteren en deze moeten melden, gaat het hier om een gigantisch bedrag. ofwel de vleesmaffia fêteert politici en ambtenaren……

Een ‘mooi voorbeeld’ voor de bevolking: politici die zich te buiten gaan aan vlees van dieren die geen leven hebben gehad, of nee beter gezegd die een leven in de hel op aarde meemaakten…. Eén ding is zeker, ook met die bbq tonen politici aan dat ze schijt hebben aan de klimaatverandering en dan bedoel ik niet alleen de regeringscoalitie, maar ook het grootste deel van de oppositie……

Minstens even ernstig dan het voorgaande is de alcoholmaffia die de alcohol voor politici verzorgt tijdens de Binnenhof bbq…… Alcoholverslaving die dagelijks gemiddeld 12 doden eist, dit nog naast alle andere ellende door grootschalige nevenschade zoals geweld, vandalisme, ongelukken, scheidingen enz. enz….. Als er 12 doden per dag vallen door de griep spreekt men hysterisch over een epidemie……. Waar de alcoholmaffia het voor elkaar heeft weten te krijgen bij de politiek dat er nog steeds alcoholreclames gemaakt mogen worden op de tv……. Schande!

Kortom: de politiek, ook in Nederland is corrupt!

Niet alleen op deze manier heeft de landelijke politiek laten zien in feite schijt te hebben aan de klimaatverandering, zo heeft hare VVD kwaadaardigheid van Nieuwenhuizen laten weten dat Schiphol in 2021 verder mag groeien……. Een zaak waarvoor een spoeddebat had moeten worden aangevraagd…… Schijt aan het milieu, schijt aan de klimaatverandering en vooral schijt aan de omwonenden van Schiphol…….

Verder staat er een biomassacentrale voor Diemen op het menu, een smerige manier van bossen verstoken, met maar liefst 25 vrachtwagens per dag die de elders gekapte bossen aanvoeren voor verbranding en als je dacht dat dit duurzaam is, heb je het volkomen bij het verkeerde eind, er komt een giga bak CO2 vrij bij de verbranding, naast nog een aantal schadelijke stoffen en grote hoeveelheid fijnstof…….. De gekapte bossen nemen vervolgens geen CO2 meer op en eer dat de nieuwe aanplant dezelfde hoeveelheid CO2 opneemt als de gekapte bomen, zijn we decennia verder……

Leve de klimaatverandering!!

Mosul, 18 maanden na ‘de bevrijding’

Door
recente droogte is Mosul weer onder de aandacht gekomen van de
internationale media, daar die droogte ervoor zorgde dat een oude ruïne bloot kwam te liggen van een 3.400 jaar oud paleis.

De
aandacht van de reguliere westerse media voor Mosul was tijdens ‘de
bevrijding’ van die stad vooral wat het VS leger en het Iraakse
bewind daarover te zeggen hadden. Zo was Hans Jaap Melissen* één
van de ‘journalisten’ die embedded waren bij de VS/Irak coalitie en
die verboden werd de stad in te gaan…… Deze zogenaamde oorlogscorrespondenten lepelden braaf op wat hen was voorgekauwd door de propaganda machine van die
coalitie……

Met name
‘de bevrijding’ van West-Mosul heeft een enorm aantal doden
gekost en waarbij de historische binnenstad werd vernietigd door
bombardementen van de VS…… Diverse mensenrechtenorganisaties en
zelfs de VN hebben de VS destijds gesmeekt te stoppen met die
bombardementen, daar de bewoners van de oude stad zo hutjemutje op elkaar woonden….. (de VS trok zich daar niets van aan….) Dit was dan ook de oorzaak voor het enorme aantal omgekomen burgers bij die bombardementen…….

Na ‘de
bevrijding’ van Mosul heeft het Iraakse leger niet gepoogd
slachtoffers te bergen, nee men koos ervoor de ruïnes te bulldozeren,
met de slachtoffers nog onder het puin. Er moeten tienduizenden
burgers zijn omgekomen (men houdt het officieel op het ongeloofwaardig aantal van 10.000; zie de links onder het hieronder opgenomen artikel), echter door het bulldozeren van de ruïnes zullen we nooit weten hoeveel slachtoffers terreurentiteit VS
heeft gemaakt met haar terreurbombardementen…..

Intussen
leven de teruggekeerde inwoners nog steeds tussen ruïnes en is er een
gebrek aan zaken als sanitaire voorzieningen waardoor ziekten de kop
opsteken, die de zo geplaagde bevolking nog verder in de ellende
storten……

In het
hieronder opgenomen artikel gaat de schrijver, T.J. Coles dieper in
op deze zaak, o.a. met het noemen van het enorme aantal bommen dat de
VS op Irak en Syrië heeft doen neerkomen, waarvan een aanzienlijk
deel op Mosul (en later op Raqqa in Syrië), voorts stelt hij nogmaals

Among the Rubble: Mosul 18 Months after “Liberation”

Recent
news of drought has brought Mosul, Iraq, to the attention of Western
media; for the drought has led to the discovery of ancient ruins of
archaeological significance. But let’s not forget the other news:
the UN report on returnees. The refugees are returning to the carnage
wrought upon the city by the US and its allies under the pretext of
“liberating” it from Daesh: carnage that transformed much of the
city to modern ruins.

ANCIENT
RUINS DISCOVERED

Mosul
is a city in Iraqi Kurdistan with a population of
1.3 million; 60% of whom are Sunni Arabs, around 25% of whom are
Kurds. Ongoing drought has brought Mosul to the attention of Western
media, as receding water levels at Kemune reservoir reveals the ruin
of a 3,400 year-old palace. Researchers from the University of
Tübingen and the Kurdistan Archaeology Organization reckon that
the palace was part of the Mittani Empire (circa 1450-1350 BCE).
According to onearchaeological
history, “[Mittani’s] end as independent realm can be dated to
the time of Hittite king Šuppiluliuma I in the middle of the 14th
century BC.”

Echoes
of the conquests and rivalry of the ancient past haunt both recent
history and the present. The so-called Mosul
Question was
a territorial dispute in the early-20th century between the British
and Ottoman empires, with both parties wanting a share of the
region’s oil. In the latter-part of the 20th century, Iraq’s
one-time US-British-backed dictator
Saddam Hussein launched the Anfal genocide against Kurds who have
historic and ongoing links to the region. A couple of years ago, the
US-approved leaders of the central Iraqi government and the regional
Kurdish authorities squabbled over
control of Mosul, anticipating that Daesh would be defeated.

But
the discovery of ancient Mittani ruins coincides with darker news.
A recent
report by
the UN International Organization for Migration documents the effects
of the US-led coalition bombardment of the city. It begins: “Entire
neighborhoods have not yet been rebuilt, basic services are
insufficient in some areas, and poor sanitation is contributing to
serious public health problems and the spread of diseases.
Furthermore,” the report continues, “reports of harassment and
violence against civilians by state as well as non-state actors are
undermining efforts to build trust in state institutions and
authorities.” Western-led humanitarian intervention is the price
that Iraqis pay for being an oil-rich, militarily vulnerable nation.

MAKING
ENEMIES

Daesh
(a.k.a., Islamic State) was largely the by-product of US-British
savagery in Iraq. Having left the nation politically and
infrastructurally decimated by
decades of unprecedented sanctions, military occupation, and
divide-and-conquer strategizing, the more extreme Islamic elements in
Iraq—backed by foreign powers for their own geostrategic
interests—sprouted from fertile ground. The US Army’s Strategic
Studies Institute launched an unusually scathing attack on the Bush
II administration’s decision to invade Iraq in 2003 and how it and
the succeeding Obama administration handled the occupation. Ignoring
moral questions and focusing solely on tactics, as well as blaming
the US-backed politician Ahmed Chalabi, the report (worth quoting at
length) says that
the growth of the Islamic State Organization (ISO):

“did
not occur in a vacuum … The ISO would not exist, or at this level
of severity at least, had the ruling Shia elements in Iraq following
the USG [US Government] occupation made the essential, painful
choices required to pursue a new social compact with the nation’s
Sunni population. Or, had the USG not operationalized Ahmad Chalabi’s
long-dreamt of goal of imposing a punitive de-Ba’athification,”

meaning
the dismantling of Iraq’s political, military, and policing
infrastructure. It goes on:

“Or,
had the USG not imposed the disastrous policy of dissolving the Iraqi
armed forces and security forces, numbering in the hundreds of
thousands; or had been prepared for a Sunni insurgency; or had
developed a realistic post-occupation, longer-term stabilization
policy based in a keen and learned awareness that the USG’s
decapitation, occupation, and empowerment of Iraq’s Shia would
profoundly destabilize an existing equilibrium in Iraq; or understood
that the decapitation of the Iraqi regime would profoundly alter the
terms of the broader Sunni-Shia rivalry inaugurated by the emergence
of a Shia revolutionary State in 1979, and thereby further energizing
proponents and antagonists who view this schism as a difference so
wide as that between God and the Devil; or, finally, had the USG not
first gone into Iraq the wrong way, and later repeated the error by
disengaging from Iraq the wrong way.”

Even
though US-British violence created Daesh, the US-British answer to
defeating Daesh was more violence.

AIR
AND GROUND WAR

In
June 2014, Daesh took Mosul, triggering a refugee flight of half a
million. According to the timeline, by
September ten Arab majority states announced their participation in
the US-led anti-Daesh coalition. Britain started bombing Iraq, again,
on September 30th with Paveway IV and Brimstone missiles. As well as
using Reaper drones in its anti-Daesh operations, the UK supplied 275
ground troops. By the end of the destruction of Mosul, the UK had 600
personnel on the ground in Iraq. Maj. Gen. Rupert Jones boasted that
“the UK was the second biggest contributor from a military
perspective in the campaign.” According to Forces.Net,
the British Army trained 75,000
Iraqi military personnel at Camp Taji and other bases. Many of those
who fought in Mosul committed war crimes, including torturing
and murdering alleged
Daesh members. In particular, the US-trained 16th Division
executed suspects, including
children.

These
atrocities pale in comparison to the devastation of the aerial
bombardments.

In
2016, the US-led coalition dropped 30,743
bombs on Iraq and Syria. In 2017, it dropped 39,577. In 2018, the
coalition dropped over 6,800 bombs. In February 2018, Pehr Lodhammar
of the UN Mine Action Service reported that
the “liberation” of Mosul had left 11 million tonnes of debris,
burying two-thirds of the unexploded bombs (UXB). The anti-mine,
anti-UXB operations will take the UN a decade to complete; assuming
that their budget isn’t reduced. It took the agency 12 months to
remove 25,000 explosive remnants in Mosul alone. The
BBC reported that
UK Ministry of Defence bombs “malfunctioned and strayed off target”
sometimes by “hundreds of metres,” adding to the civilian death
toll which reached up to 10,000; 11,000, according to the
same Forces.Net source
noted above. Mosul resident and civilian, Abdel Rahman Ali, lost five
children to the blitz. “Nobody destroyed us except the coalition,”
he told the BBC.

In
its written evidence to the British government, Amnesty
International says: “Our
field research constitutes prima
facieevidence
that Coalition strikes, which killed and injured civilians in Syria
and Iraq, violated International Humanitarian Law (IHL).”
Criticizing what it calls a “crisis in accountability,” Save the
Children’s written evidence notes that
$700 million-worth of damage was wrought on each of Mosul’s 54
residential districts. Save the Children concludes: “In Mosul, the
UN Security Council also found that at least 4200 civilians were
killed by EWIPA [explosive weapons with wide-area effects in
populated areas] between October 2016 and July 2017. Research
undertaken by the UN suggests that in such settings, over 90 percent
of the casualties are civilians.”

IN
CONCLUSION

Instead
of being decapitated and immolated by Daesh, thousands of inhabitants
of Mosul were blown to pieces and incinerated by US-British bombs. UN
International Organization for Migration’s recent
report notes that,
at its peak, nearly one million residents fled the city. By now,
350,000 or so remain “internally displaced persons” (IDPs). “Many
IDPs are unable to return because their houses have been destroyed,
either by [Daesh] or during the battle, and renting or buying new
property is prohibitively expensive.” They are some of the millions
of refugees generated by the US-British imperial war machine. Mosul
is a small part of a much larger tragedy: one of US global hegemony
in the age of Full Spectrum Dominance.

een schitterend mooi land, heeft 70% van haar grondgebied opengesteld
voor de delving van lithium, een grondstof voor batterijen en
accu’s.

Daar
blijft het niet bij beste bezoeker, ook is er toestemming gegeven tot fracken voor het winnen van olie en gas, waarmee het totale gebied dat zal worden
vernield voor ‘economische groei’ zelfs op 80% komt te liggen en
waarbij alleen de natuurgebieden rond Porto en Lissabon gevrijwaard
blijven van vernieling: natuurvernietiging, bodemverontreiniging, vervuiling van
grondwater en oppervlakte water……

Niet vreemd dat met deze activiteiten ook de volksgezondheid in Portugal geweld wordt aangedaan, echter daar heeft men in de huidige neoliberale wereld schijt aan, de centen gaan nu eenmaal ver voor op de gezondheid van de bewoners, in Portugal is het niet anders, zoals je al had begrepen……….

Lithium:
From a dream to a nightmare

Dear friends,
expats living in Portugal, and tourists that love our country

Portugal is a
paradise of unspoiled green areas, with abundant water resources and
a landscape that ranges from deep mountains to wide open flat lands.

The reality is
that the Portuguese nation is now waking-up to the fact that more
than 70% of our country was identified for lithium mining, with a few
contracts already awarded in very dubious processes.

Add to the
target areas for lithium and other minerals the areas also identified
for fracking for gas and oil, and the picture starts to be one that
nightmares are made of. Meaning that more than 80% of our territory
will be faced with massive environmental and local economic
devastation, of which Portugal will never recover from.

If we allow this
to proceed, Portugal will be the “Skunk Works Zone” in Europe,
reducing livable areas to Lisbon and Porto. Not even the Algarve and
Alentejo will be spared in the years to come.

We now have a
very short window in which to act.

We want to force
this issue into the political election campaign that will be starting
shortly, and force this topic strongly into the political arena
before upcoming elections in October this year.

ASMAA is NOT
alone dealing with this threat to Portugal. There are many other
local groups and associations already running, and others being
created as we speak and joining the fight daily.

Although there’s
been a few mining projects in the past in Portugal, none has been of
the magnitude that we are confronted with at present, but the
destruction left behind by previous mining operations are a clear
warning of what to expect in the future.

Zonnebrandcrème kan in zwembad veranderen in kankerverwekkend gif

studie van de Lomonov Moscow State University heeft duidelijk gemaakt
dat de ultraviolette bescherming in zonnebrandcrème, lipbalsem en in cosmetica kan veranderen in een
kankerverwekkend gif, als het in aanraking komt met gechloreerd water van zwembaden.

Zwembaden
die koper gebruiken om het water een blauw kleur te geven zijn volgens
de studie nog gevaarlijker. (nooit geweten dat men daar koper voor
gebruikte, vreemd)

Emma
Wedgeworth, van de Britse Skin Foundation waarschuwt voor hysterische
reacties en benadrukt het feit dat gebruik van zonnecrème (met een UV filter) een
belangrijke verdediging is tegen huidkanker.

(TMU) —
Smothering yourself in sunscreen before getting into a swimming pool
may actually be detrimental to your health, according to research.

The
study—which was conducted at Lomonosov
Moscow State University—found
that the combination of ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun and
chlorinated water cause ingredients in sunscreens to break down and
produce toxic chemicals. These chemicals have been associated with
causing immune system damage, infertility, and even cancer.

The
world’s most popular sun-blocker, avobenzone, was the focus of the
study. Researchers found the ultraviolet filter—which is commonly
used in sunscreens, moisturizers, lip balms, and other cosmetic
products—actually breaks down in chlorinated water.

“A
generally safe compound transforms in the water and forms more
dangerous products,” Researcher
Dr. Albert Lebedev said.

Acetyl
benzenes and phenols are two of the chemicals produced from the
interaction; both of which are distinctly toxic.

Swimming
pools that use copper salts to give the water its blue appearance,
can spawn an even more harmful reaction. The copper salts cause
ingredients in the sunscreen to break
down into bromoform,
a substance that has been linked to liver problems, kidney problems,
and nervous system disorders.

“It’s
really important that we keep on scrutinizing the chemicals that we
use on the skin, so this certainly needs to be looked into very
carefully,” said
Dr Emma Wedgeworth, British Skin Foundation spokesperson.

“However,
we know for certain that sun exposure is linked to skin cancers and
that sunscreen, as part as safe sun behavior, can help reduce the
risks of skin cancers. So I would urge people not to have a knee
jerk reaction and avoid sunscreen altogether.”

Willem Holleeder moest en zou levenslang krijgen: de rechtspraak is deels de nek omgedraaid

Een staaltje scheef rechtspreken is de enige conclusie die je kan trekken uit het vonnis dat tegen Holleeder werd uitgesproken….. De man is de laatste jaren al publiekelijk berecht, de media hebben niet anders gedaan dan Holleeder besmeuren en dat op basis van horen zeggen….

Het voorgaande is wat de rechtbank nu ook heeft laten zien, Holleeder is veroordeeld op basis van horen zeggen en het misbaksel van het OM genaamd ‘kroongetuige’, een misdadiger die alle belang heeft bij zaken als strafvermindering, of zelfs het kwijtschelden van een straf, als deze maar getuigt tegen een andere misdadiger……. De getuigenis van een misdadiger, wat is die in godsnaam waard?? Hetzelfde geld voor de familie van Holleeder: hoe kan je familie zien als een betrouwbare partij, terwijl deze familie gebrouilleerd is………

Verklaringen zonder één enkel technisch bewijs en toch levenslang, hoe is het mogelijk???

Hoorde vanmorgen op BNR en Radio1 hoe men de rechter die Holleeder veroordeelde, veren in de vieze bips stak en zelfs stelde dat deze rechter onafhankelijk is….. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!

We hebben dus niet alleen klassenjustitie, maar ook rechtspraak die op basis van horen zeggen mensen tot levenslang veroordeelt, zaken die in een dictatuur thuishoren!!

De VS en niet Iran is een schurkenstaat

De
VS rekent Iran tot de schurkenstaten, terwijl de VS de ene na de andere illegale oorlog start op basis van leugens of zelfs false flag operaties, neem de oorlogen van de VS tegen Noord-Vietnam, Panama, Servië (ook nog eens als opperbevelhebber van de NAVO), Afghanistan, Irak (NB 2 keer, waar de laatste in feite nog steeds niet is afgelopen), Libië en Syrië (waar de VS de terroristen invloog en bewapende, zelfs die van IS…)….. Illegale oorlogen deze eeuw door de VS begonnen, hebben intussen al meer dan 2,5 mensen het leven gekost!! (en dan zou Iran een terreurstaat zijn….)

Voorts voert de VS economische oorlogen tegen ‘ongehoorzame landen’, waarbij telkens weer de bevolking het slachtoffer is, zo heeft de economische oorlog tegen Venezuela naar schatting al 40.000 mensen het leven gekost…… (ofwel de zoveelste vorm van massamoord door de grootste terreurentiteit op aarde, de VS!) Dit nog buiten:

geheime militaire moordacties o.l.v. de CIA.
het vermoorden van verdachten middels drones, waarbij meer dan 90% van de slachtoffers niet eens werd verdacht. (intussen al duizenden slachtoffers)
het opzetten van opstanden en staatsgrepen in landen waar de VS niets te zoeken heeft, zaken waarmee altijd mensenlevens zijn gemoeid…..

Trump
stelt dat hij geen oorlog zoekt met Iran, maar dat dit land geen
kernwapen mag hebben. Het beest is de weg geheel en al kwijt want nu
stelt hij dat wanneer Iran afziet van een kernwapen, hij dat land zal
omarmen…….

Precies
dat, het niet nastreven van een kernwapen, wist men al in 2007 uit inlichten
van geheime diensten uit de VS, destijds werd vastgesteld dat Iran was
gestopt met het werken aan een kernwapen waarmee het in 2003 was
begonnen…..

Bovendien
tekende Iran de nucleaire deal met o.a. de VS en beloofde daarin
precies wat de VS eiste en ondanks strenge controles van de IAEA (Internationaal Atoomenergie Agentschap), waarvan de uitkomsten aangaven dat Iran zich aan de afspraken hield, werd dit verdrag door Trump naar de
prullenbak verwezen……

‘Mooie woorden van Trump, terwijl de VS nog steeds bezig is met militaire opbouw in
de buurt van Iran, niet alleen met troepen, maar ook met
gevechtsvliegtuigen en zelfs een vliegdekschip……..

Hoorde in het nieuws van 12.00 u. (CET) op BBC World Service dat Groot-Brittannië een olietanker aan de ketting heeft gelegd, daar het eindbestemming Syrië zou hebben >> alsof GB en de VS het recht hebben om schepen aan te houden met een eindbestemming die de afzonderlijke regeringen als onaanvaardbaar hebben bestempeld…… Het wachten is op eenzelfde actie tegen Iran, waar terreurstaat VS dan zal optreden als ‘politieagent’.

The
US, Not Iran, Is the Rogue State

Trump
says he wants to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, yet he
wrecked an international agreement that was doing just that. Now
we’re edging closer to a war that the US says it doesn’t want but
is doing everything to cause.

When
he’s not threatening
Iran with
“obliteration,” Donald Trump has, of late, noted his preference
for negotiations over war. He’s reportedly asked his
advisers, including hawkish Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and
ultra-hawkish National Security Advisor John Bolton, to “tone down”
their rhetoric on Iran. His Iran envoy, Brian Hooks, has told
Congress that
the goal of the administration’s “maximum pressure” sanctions
campaign is negotiations, not conflict.

Trump
has gone so far as to say he’ll
be Iran’s “best friend” — with one caveat: the Iranians give
up any efforts to acquire nuclear weapons. “We’re not going to
have Iran have a nuclear weapon,” he told reporters last weekend.
“When they agree to that, they’re going to have a wealthy
country. They’re going to be so happy, and I’m going to be their
best friend. I hope that happens.”

So
let’s take Trump at his word. Maybe he is interested in cutting a
deal. Let’s further acknowledge that the administration might not
be comfortable relying on Iran’s word (Tehran has insisted that
it “will never pursue a nuclear weapon ”) or even on the
word of US intelligence (which in a 2007 report concluded that
Iran stopped what nuclear weapons work it was doing in 2003). What
kind of agreement would it then be looking to negotiate with Tehran?

To
be viable, the plan would need to be an international one that
involved not just the US and Iran, but China, Russia, and major
European states. All these states would have to jointly take action
to ensure that Iran fulfilled its obligations under the pact and that
it benefited from doing so. The deal would need to be comprehensive,
covering all aspects of Iran’s nuclear program; include a mechanism
for enforcing Iranian compliance; and provide Iran with relief from
the current array of US and international sanctions.

This
hypothetical deal would be a win-win for all parties: the US and
company would get their coveted denuclearization, and Iran would be
freed from the sanctions that have wreaked havoc on their economy.

There’s
just one problem: that kind of deal has already been crafted. It’s
called the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” (JCPOA) — the
2015 accord that Iran agreed to with the United States, China,
France, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom. The same accord that
Trump chose to scrap last year, which has now brought the US and Iran
to the brink of a military confrontation.

While
Trump spent the 2016 presidential campaign trashing the JCPOA
— calling
it “the
worst deal ever negotiated” and declaring his “number one
priority” would be to “dismantle” it — arms control experts
have supported it as an effective tool. More than eighty
non-proliferation specialists signed a joint
statement in
2017, before Trump abandoned the accord, saying that the JCPOA “has
proven to be an effective and verifiable arrangement that is a net
plus for international nuclear nonproliferation efforts” as well as
“an important success of multilateral diplomacy, the full
implementation of which is critical to international peace and
security.”

When
it was negotiated in 2015, the JCPOA’s premise was simple: in
return for accepting limitations on its nuclear power program and an
intense inspections regime to verify its compliance, Iran would get
relief from US and international sanctions. By obligating Iran to
redesign a heavy water reactor that could have generated significant
plutonium waste and establishing strict limits on Iran’s uranium
enrichment program, it closed off both of Iran’s potential pathways
to a nuclear weapon. Most critically, Iran agreed to an unprecedented
level of monitoring and inspections to verify its compliance.

That
work has been done by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which
has repeatedly affirmed Iran’s adherence to the deal.

This
is the agreement that Trump chose to violate last year. With his
reimposition of US sanctions — which apply not just to US entities
but all parties seeking to do business with Iran — it has become
impossible for Tehran to receive any benefits despite its fidelity to
the deal. Although the remaining signatories to the JCPOA have to
shield some Iranian commerce from US penalties, those efforts have
been very limited in scope and are, thanks to US dominance in the
global financial system, still ultimately vulnerable to sanctions.

It’s
little wonder that the Iranians have recently begun scaling
back their
own commitments to the nuclear deal and plan to continue scaling them
back. Amazingly, the Trump administration has warned Iran against
doing so — it “still expects Iran to abide by [the JCPOA’s]
terms,” according to NBC News. But the US withdrawal from the
JCPOA, combined with the Trump administration’s zealous application
of sanctions, has destroyed the pact. For all intents and purposes,
there is no JCPOA anymore, and the notion that Iran would continue to
adhere to a dead accord is, to say the least, unreasonable.

If
it appears that the Trump administration’s approach to Iran is
incoherent, that’s because it is. Trump says he wants to prevent
Iran from developing nuclear weapons, yet he wrecked an international
agreement that was doing just that. His advisers say they want to
force Iran to negotiate over an expanded deal that addresses the
original’s perceived shortcomings, but the best way to encourage
Iran to keep talking would have been to make sure that it received
all of its promised perks under the JCPOA.

Now
Iranian leaders call the
US offer to talk a “deception,” and even ostensible US allies
like France say they’ve seen “no
signal the US is interested in dialogue.” The administration claims
it wants to build a
“global coalition” to isolate and counter Iran, but its actions
have only isolated the US and shown that it, not Iran, is the rogue
state in this situation.

The
Trump administration has made sanctions an end unto themselves,
heaping more and more on Iran and offering Tehran no chance to
alleviate them that doesn’t involve some kind of capitulation.
After the most recent round of US sanctions — which targeted
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei himself — Iran suggested that
the “path to diplomacy” is now closed, and there’s no reason to
doubt they mean it.

The
one constant over the past forty years of Iran-US relations has been
Washington’s deep desire for regime change in Tehran. Seen in that
light, the administration’s refusal to create an off-ramp to
deescalate this entirely US-made crisis may be deliberate — part of
a plan to punish the Iranian people so severely that they eventually
rise up and topple their government on Washington’s behalf. But
there’s no indication that the effort is working, and in the
meantime millions of people are suffering for it while the Persian
Gulf region edges closer to a war that the US says it doesn’t want
but is doing everything to cause.

Het is
Danny Danon, de Israëlische ambassadeur voor de VN, nu echt geheel in de psychopathische bol geslagen, volgens
hem moeten de Palestijnen zich overgeven zoals Egypte dat eerder
heeft gedaan, dit heeft dat land geen windeieren opgeleverd, aldus de ploert, waar hij overigens loog dat Egypte zich overgaf (voor details lees het hieronder opgenomen artikel)……..

Danon wijst er voorts op dat de Duitsers en Japan zich ook hebben overgegeven aan het
eind van WOII en ook voor hen betekende dit economische
vooruitgang, even vergetend dat Palestina geen soevereine staat is met een leger zoals Duitsland en Japan dat wel waren, kortom een vergelijking die als een tang op een varken slaat……

Uiteraard
moeten de Palestijnen verder afzien van een eigen staat, ofwel de
Palestijnen moeten nationalistische suïcide plegen. Alleen deze zaken
kunnen volgens Danon leiden tot duurzame vrede…… Danon vergeet
even dat Israël ook tegen de Palestijnen (die in ander ‘Israëlische gebied’
leven dan de West Bank of de Gazastrook) wetten heeft aangenomen
waarbij deze Palestijnen, door Israël aangeduid als arabieren,
werden teruggezet van klasse 2 burgers naar klasse 3 burgers…..

Danon
plaatste e.e.a. in de New York Times, dit tijdens overleg in Bahrein
over de toekomst van de Palestijnen, waar de Palestijnen niet aan
willen deelnemen, daar de voorwaarden voor deelname een overgave aan Israël zou
betekenen…….

Vergeet
niet dat de stichting van de staat Israël illegaal was en nog steeds
is, het grondgebied dat zionisten met geweld van de Palestijnen
afnamen, behoort nog steeds aan de vorige eigenaren, ofwel de
Palestijnen, die i.t.t. wat Israël zegt, wel degelijk rechten kunnen
doen gelden op de eigendommen die ze eeuwen in bezit hebben
gehad….. Niet de Palestijnen waren verantwoordelijk voor het
afvoeren van Joden naar de dodenkampen, maar nazi-Duitsland met
behulp van politie en andere autoriteiten van de bezette gebieden
(zoals die van Nederland), waaruit Joden werden afgevoerd……. Uit
schaamte ziet men in het westen alles door de vingers wat Israël flikt, terwijl dit land NB veel zaken heeft overgenomen die door de
nazi’s werden geïntroduceerd en nu worden gebruikt tegen het vervolgde Palestijnen
volk……

in the New York Times, Israeli UN Ambassador says Palestinian
surrender and ‘national suicide’ is needed for peace

This
came out yesterday in the pages of the New
York Times:

The
“economic workshop” in Bahrain this week, a summit of business
leaders and political figures, is the first step in the rollout of
the Trump administration’s long-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace
plan. However, because the plan offers a new approach, many on the
Palestinian side, including President Mahmoud Abbas and the chief
Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, say that the plan is dead on
arrival and that engaging with it is tantamount to a Palestinian
declaration of surrender. I ask: What’s wrong with Palestinian
surrender?

Israel’s
UN Ambassador Danny Danon’s opinion
piece,
titled “What’s Wrong With Palestinian Surrender?” posits
that the current Bahrain conference (today and tomorrow) is something
that Palestinians should have embraced, rather than rejected.

This
“economic workshop”, based upon the “deal of the century”
concept, is indeed proving to be dead on arrival. Arguably, this is
just the Emperor’s
New Clothes,
where the gown is called “New Palestine”, offering no political
substance, just a lot of money. Not only has the Palestinian
Authority boycotted it (and persuaded Palestinian businessmen not to
attend) – Israeli officials are reportedly not going to be there
either.

Danon
is simply chiding the Palestinians for yet again missing a wonderful
opportunity. Yet he is quite clear about what this opportunity means:
It’s an opportunity to surrender.

With
Danon, one is often instinctively caused to think “is he being
serious?” – but then you remember that this is the guy who waves
bibles at
the UN Security Council to claim ownership of all of historical
Palestine, and you get that yes, he’s being serious.

“Destroying
Israel”

Danon
writes that the problem with Palestinians is that their “national
identity” is about “destroying Israel”. Having chided the
Palestinians for their high unemployment rates despite foreign aid
(Danon does not mention that Israel plunders about
78% of that aid, though he does note over 50 percent unemployment in
Gaza), Danon then procedes to point out the supposed essential flaw
in the Palestinian national identity:

Yet
[Palestinian Chief Negotiator] Mr. Erekat and the Palestinian
leadership choose to stay the course and reject the term “surrender.”
In doing so, they expose the uncomfortable truth about the
Palestinian national identity: It is motivated not by building a
better life for its people but by destroying Israel.

To
bolster his point about this intrinsic flaw, Danon points out how
“Western national ethos” is liberal – and here he brings not
only the US “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and the
French “Liberté, égalité, fraternité”, but also the Israeli
“natural right of the Jewish people to be masters of their own fate
in their own sovereign State”. This is deeply ironic. If Danon were
following the vein of the former two, he could have cited something
else from the Israeli Declaration of Independence, for example
“complete equality of social and political rights to all its
inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex”. For all the
discrepancy between what is written and reality, it would have at
least looked better.
But no, Danon chooses one of the most nationalist, exclusivist
clauses, containing the “master” language, which in the Israeli
reality has an all too cynical meaning. Danon reveals his
white-and-Jewish-supremacist bias, which he seems to think is
enlightened.

Danon
then compares this to the supposed Palestinian ethos, citing from the
1968 PLO charter:

In
contrast to these Western national ethoses, the charter of the
Palestine Liberation Organization, a precursor to the Palestinian
Authority, states its “mottos” as “national unity, national
mobilization, and liberation” and talks about the “basic conflict
that exists between the forces of Zionism and of imperialism on the
one hand, and the Palestinian Arab people on the other.”
Palestinian leaders have rejected multiple peace overtures, launched
intifadas and wars, and sponsored countless acts of terrorism in
adherence to this belief.

Putting
aside for the moment that the PLO has moved to recognize Israel in
treaty, in the 1993 Oslo Accords (while Israel has never recognized
Palestine and Danon’s Likud “flatly rejects the establishment of
a Palestinian Arab state west of the Jordan river”), Danon’s
former comparison of the “Western ethos” as opposed to these
supposedly backwards Palestinian “mottos”, precisely betrays the
colonialist nature of his Zionist venture. The Palestinians are not
allowed to “liberate” themselves from enlightened colonialist
rule – the best they can do is “surrender”, for their own good,
of course.

Palestinians
need to commit “national suicide”

Danon
falsely suggests that the Palestinian aim for statehood is anathema
to recognizing Israel and what he calls “the Jewish people”. The
fact that Israel is recognized in the Oslo Accords proves this is an
invalid point. The two-state solution was precisely seen, at least
from the Palestinian standpoint, as a means of recognition of both
Israel and Palestine, where the PLO had already made concessions to
suffice with a mere 22% of historical Palestine (this ideological
concession was already being made around the
early 1980’s).
But Danon now says that Palestinians should be willing to
negotiate even
without any prospect of a state,
to give up that ambition totally:

With
this national ethos, negotiating without the explicit endorsement of
a Palestinian state is seen as a rejection of the Palestinian
national identity, and an acknowledgment that Israel and the Jewish
people are here to stay. In short, for Mr. Abbas and Mr. Erekat, this
approach is akin to national suicide. Yet a national suicide of the
Palestinians’ current political and cultural ethos is precisely
what is needed for peace. The belief that the Jews have no right to
the land and Israel is to be destroyed, which engenders a culture of
hate and incitement, needs to end.

In
other words, Danon is saying to Palestinians “drop dead.” Danon
is thus suggesting that Palestinians should resort to hopes of a
better afterlife, following their suicide. At least there’s
something to look forward to.

Surrender,
like Egypt

Danon
makes the invalid comparison of Palestine to other sovereign
countries, some of which had surrendered in the past yet experienced
a prosperous (economic) future later. He thus brings examples from
World War Two:

The
United States did not eradicate the German and Japanese people after
their surrender in World War II, but instead helped transform them
from imperial military powers to what are today among the world’s
leading economic powerhouses.

To
bring the comparison closer to our times and to the region, Danon
compares Palestine to Egypt:

In
the Middle East, following defeat in four conventional wars between
1948 and 1973, Egypt surrendered the idea that it could wipe Israel
from the region, and President Anwar Sadat chose peace, which Israel
was ready to accept. After the 1979 peace agreement, Egypt became a
favored recipient of American foreign and military aid, and the
beneficiary of an influx of Western investment. There is no reason to
believe a Palestinian declaration of surrender could not lead to a
similar transformation.

These
comparisons are deeply problematic, for several reasons. First,
Palestine is not a state like Egypt, or Japan, or Germany, with a
military, with their own sovereign territory etc. Palestine is
essentially a fully occupied set of Bantustans which are at the mercy
of Israel’s whims, from checkpoints in the West Bank to seasonal
massacres in Gaza.

Second,
Egypt did not “surrender” – in fact, it surprised Israel in a
devastating joint attack with Syria in 1973, which Egypt fought on
its own occupied Sinai peninsula – not even Israeli territory. That
attack was the language of force, which Israelis regularly chide the
“Arabs” for being the only thing they understand. When Sadat
offered peace overtures to Golda Meir in 1970, he was ignored;
Defense Minister Moshe Dayan said “Better Sharm el-Sheikh without
peace than peace without Sharm el-Sheikh”, referring to the Sinai
coastal town. So, in 1973 Israel got force, a language it
understood, and that led to the peace treaty signed in 1979, where
Israel agreed to withdraw from the Egyptian Sinai. If one wants to
use the word “surrender”, it could be argued that Israel
“surrendered” its wishes to control the Sinai.

“The
Palestinians have little to lose”

Finally,
Danon ends his torturous article with the paragraph:

The
Palestinians have little to lose and everything to gain by putting
down the sword and accepting the olive branch. Israel awaits the
emergence of a Palestinian Anwar Sadat, a leader who is willing to do
what is best for his people — a leader who recognizes that building
a bright future requires surrendering a dark past.

It
may be a Freudian slip, when Danon says “the Palestinians have
little to lose”. US moves to defund various forms of aid to
Palestinians, to “remove from the table” the critical issue of
Jerusalem by moving its embassy, and Israeli blackmailing in the form
of withholding tax revenues, amongst a plethora of other coercive
measures, appear to be aimed at forcing the Palestinians into ever
more dire economic straits, from which they would be prone to
extricate themselves by acceding to the “economic peace” plans
which involve their “national suicide”. But colonialists often
make this error in judgement. They assume, that the only thing their
inferior subjects want is to exist, and make money. Like Jared
Kushner said it recently, when he suggested that
Palestinians were not ready to govern themselves:

What
[the Palestinian people] want is they want the opportunity to live a
better life. They want the opportunity to pay their mortgage.

The
idea that these people might want, or need, freedom from the yoke of
oppression, is apparently beyond the scope of the colonialist mind.
As Danon says, they need to surrender. And this is not in order to be
“masters of their own fate”. Oh, no, Danon makes clear that
mastership is reserved solely for Jews in Israel and Palestine.
Palestinians need to know their place in this hierarchy. In this
hierarchy, Danon, the bible-waving Jew, is at the top, and
Palestinians are at the bottom.
